It continues to shock me how much the Snaters really don't know the canon.
First, Lily never rejected Severus the two of them have been best friends for years. The one pestering Lily to go out with him was James.
Second, the scene where Snape goes to Godric's Hollow doesn't exist in the book, it's just an addition in the movie to make everything more dramatic. (If we want to consider movie scenes canon then most of the accusations made don't exist since they don't happen. These people are really too confused)
And then what? Or if we take the scene from the film at face value, Snape hugs the woman he loves instead of helping Harry, so what? This poor man was destroyed, can we leave him alone for two seconds to cry?
When Draco fell off his broom, Severus literally jumped out of his skin -just like the mama bear he is- but Lucius was just like "Huh, whose son is he? Definitely not mine."
dumbledore: this year, i learned that time is precious so my new years resolution is to spend more time with you guys.
sprout: awhh 🥹 how sweet
flitwick: how sweet 💕
mcgonagall: that’s nice 🫶🏼
snape: yeah, i actually learned that time is precious too so my resolution is to spend as little time with you all as possible because you drain the ever loving life out of me
the tiktok marauders fans opinion on snape completely rocketed snape hate to a new height. as a fan who is on both and has been on tumblr much much longer. I have never seen worse hate, and I used to get death threats over snape here on my old account.
it's genuinely scary to see this part of fandom delve into purity culture and hypocrisy. seeing the lengths people are willing to go to 'redeem' regulus black, evan rosier or any other death eater is surreal. but snape is where the line if drawn, he is the devil.
like I have maybe a solid 10 other editors I know who like snape and nothing else, midst the thousands of marauder fans completely making up nonsensical things about snape to make him the bad guy.
like seeing someone defend alecto carrow then turn around and say that snape frequently called lily a mudblood and list fanon headcanons about him is almost unbelievable. to the point where I will be sitting there going, "this is a joke, this cannot be serious".
being called an abuse apologist, a pedophile, and many many other things for simply liking a character genuinely hurts. it hurts to realize that these people commenting and saying hurtful things somehow don't realize that you are a person with feeling who can be hurt by words.
here at least you can curate you experience, tiktok is the wild west, and hate is well known.
tldr: snape hate has increased due to tiktok and the way the fans interact with fandom
Snaters like to say we “defend death eaters” but the only one we break back for is Severus…
I’m telling you rn, if you ask me why I like Lucius, I’m not gonna write a 12k essay about how misunderstood he is…imma just say “he’s snarky, fabulous, and fine as hell”
Honestly, let's be so real about something. Was James a bully? Yes. Was it deserved? Also yes!! Let's talk about how Severus Snape was genuinely a bad person!! He was literally a child's boggart, something that scares them the most. He also created a spell that makes people bleed out?? Let's not act like he was innocent pls!! Also let's talk about he was literally CRIMINALLY obsessed with a woman for YEARS and then touched her dead body and ignored her crying child in the crib right next to him. AND THEN PROCEEDED TO MAKE HER CHILDS LIFE EVEN MORE HELL THAN IT ALREADY WAS.
It’s so funny to think about how James stans on tiktok act like it’s the end of the world when they see someone who likes Snape as if it wouldn’t be the most embarrassing thing ever to be asked by a random person who your favourite Harry Potter character is and you answer with “Harry Potter’s dad!” while Snape had a whole book named after him.
marauders stans and their absurd ideas about snape turning me away from the community and into the arms of you snape stans???? more likely than y’all think!!!! would y’all take me? <3
