My redesign of the Zora from BOTW causes a little difference in their ability to get around on land and in water, their big ol’ tail makes it kind of awkward to walk and run whereas in water they are very powerful swimmers. A Zora’s tail is strong enough to break bones if you are struck with one, so be careful!

Tae Young, Jesse and Robaire were classically trained instrumentalists when they were kids. Tae Young was violin, Jesse was flute and Robaire was piano. T plays ukulele don't ask me why he just does and also the kalimba. Z can play the harmonica. Jesse also plays the guitar

Z learnt the harmonica from his grandad - they had a really close relationship before he died.

Jesse cycled through a lot of different instruments trying to find the one for him (clarinet, trumpet, drums, piano, violin, double bass) before landing on flute and then later on guitar as well

There are some really odd demo tracks and some completely unreleased songs that just go ham with any instrument that they felt like throwing in

They're utter chaos

Truly just a wall of noise at some points

Just like random improv games or,,

Suddenly acting out a famous scene in a very melodramatic way or,,

Randomly bursting out in songs from musicals and somehow knowing the full choreography for them..

Jesse is the one who starts their musical outburst 8 times out of 10

Sometimes though he'll start singing and the others will start to join in,, realise they have ko fucking clue what he's singing and then just listen to him solo like the king he is

T will 100% just start garbling rubbish if he doesn't know the words,, improv king over here

Seriously,, this man can go on with a bit for eons if he feels like it

He'll stay completely in character and be going string while the others are creasing and have no idea wtf to say

Mans lives for it

Oh your singing ?? Tae is adding a harmony onto that for you <3

Somehow he manage to find a harmony for everything and he finds it FUCKING IMMEDIATELY

Does make Robaire a lil jealous with his harmony abilities sometimes

Sometimes though Tae will just go from some ethereal harmony into a goblin voice while still singing the harmony

He's a great impressionist tbh

His voice can go deeper than most people expect,, its a lil uncomfy and he just doesn't like how he sounds so it doesn't happen often

When it does though, Tae is using it for evil

Z is the one who somehow knows all th dance moves to every musical ever

Mans starts teaching it to the others too as if they're not complete disasters

Also because this is a struggle for me and I need someone to relate to.. caffeine of any kind makes Z so incredibly tired

Like,, half a cup with half him out for 6 hours straight, wake up for dinner because Jesse went to get him and then straight back to sleep

Mans gets over 24 hours of sleep that day

Problem is Z is an energy drink fanatic

The boys somehow manage to find him caffeine free energy drinks and he's never been more thankful istg

Z just wants to pretend he isn't about o pass out when he's supposed to be wired to high heaven

Robaire loves to flaunt his coffee in Z's face all of the fucking time

I went a bit ham with drawing my Grey Warden in the thumbnail and I'm super proud of it too! I know I haven't been consistent with posting my vods on tumblr here and keep anyone who's interested updated so I might be backlog posting some vods and playlists for things that are already completed (like Mass Effect).

posting this bad boy a couple days early, but here’s my summary of art for the year! >:3 (this is the first year I’ve had drawings for every month lol)

explanation for them under the cut, but i do feel somewhat better finding that there was some improvement from the beginning of the year to now. funny isn’t it? wonder what 2021 will have in store for me art-wise.

January! Oh boy, the ‘before-times’ when I was still in school and had the willpower to do traditional art. Mellena Wryen, post-Umbara train wreck, probably reading a letter from Theron. 

February! Again, also the beforetimes. Believe it or not, same character, but candid just for fun. I believe I used a ref for that one. I don’t mind it, but I couldn’t tell you what that aurebesh says. I believe that month I also did my very first ‘commission’ for a friend (like, 50 cents for one piece -- she got two and I was able to get two snacks at school lmao). I couldn’t tell you if she’s still happy with it.

March! The apocalypse began. The shift over to more digital art started, and a few characters I did for mutuals + friends in a discord server. Might re-do that one next year, I’m not the happiest with it anymore. If I’m right still, Scarlett’s Arisxara + Shey’s Ren and Kara + my own Bisauur.

April! Just-for-fun piece for @sheyshen of her Alessia Arro. Think I was still trying to force myself into a more painting-ish style, as you can see though, it didn’t last past April. I still like it, if not just for reference where we started, and where we are now.

May! Giveaway reward for @celamity of their Alaeth! I still liked using bigger, blockier lines, and while I’m still proud of it, I don’t use them as much anymore. Learned what a stabilizer was around this time too, and was my very first giveaway. I loved working on it! 

June! Just-for-fun piece for @roguescarlett of her Darth Savitri! Learned smaller and thinner lines are great for a less ‘in your face’ art style, started to figure out hair around that time too. Also learned how to just blur the crap out of things.

July! The beginning of my hyperfixation for Mass Effect (that’s a lie, it started in April, it just took over around July), and with what else than a drawing of my favorite, Citlali? Her appearance has changed quite a bit from her very first drawing (which I’ll post at some point), but that’s still not exactly it. Still, a picture from when she was in London near the end of the game, a-la-Kaidan style gazing up at the sky.

August! Art exchange with @nhylluan of their Darth Nihil! Still, figuring out skin, hair and general shading but I’m still around happy with it. Probably one of the last Star Wars pieces I did to be entirely honest.

September! Art exchange with @sheyshen of her Lyra Trevalyen. I’m proudest of this piece, and that’s just because I love the effects I did on it. I remember staying up rather late working on it, but it was totally worth it.

October! The beginning of my descent into Dragon Age (if I remember right?) and of my Marzeyna Lavellan. It started out as a doodle because I hadn’t drawn anything in a while, and then I said screw it and finished it off. Discovered ‘effects’ on layers and went ham. Still couldn’t really figure out hair though.

November! N7 day’s drawing of my Kodelyn Shepard -- which I started the day before and was absolutely determined to finish. Don’t ask me why I waited so long, but you better believe I’m still happy with it. Sure, it’s just a little off (I favor my left for whatever reason), but that would’ve been one of the few times I’ve actually drawn Dee. Suffice to say, I have favorites.

December! My DA gift exchange of their Kits Lavellan! I’m happiest with this piece (and most recent -- finished maybe a day or two ago from now) and I really hope its recipient likes it as much as I do! (Doing things for bigger and more talented artists makes me nervous tbh lol)

1.- Would you rather wear Carla’s Scarf or Shin’s eyepatch? 

I love scarves!!! So Carla’s scarf :) But eyepatches are metal as fuck, but I’d do that for like a one time only thing. 

2.- Which moments has been the most shocking to you? (Game, Manga, CD Drama, Stage Play, Anime)

Ok the fact that in the anime Laito kills Richter, like I look back at it and lose my SHIT––that’s probably the best thing the anime has to offer. There’s so much symbolism and implications and UGH I might have to do an analysis of it myself, even though aka-anemone made hers on it. I know I talk shit about the anime a lot so it’s surprising that I’d be talking about it in a positive light, but that’s one of the most shocking moments I can think of now. 

3.- Have you had a Diaboy whom you hated (or had very little interest) and now you love him? 

Uhhhhh not really? I’ve always hated Reiji and uh,,,, I hate him a little less now. I appreciate his juxtaposition to the boys and his funny insults and regular comic relief. 

4.- Which moments (Game, Manga, etc) has made you laugh the most? 

EVERY TIME LAITO REFERS TO HIMSELF AS A GENTLEMAN I SWEAR––there was one moment I remember laughing recently too, oh god it was a tokuten CD; whenever I think of it I’ll make an edit to this. 

oh also whenever Reiji’s whip sound effect plays in the games or CD. Idk why but it’s so funny to me.

5.- Which moments has made you cry the most? 

I’ve played Laito’s MB route two times, and whenever that scene of him and Yui having consensual sex I always cry. First it was on the bus when I went to Cuba for a school trip three years ago (which yikes I hate crying in front of other people LMAO), and last year it was in the corner of the study room in my residence hall behind 2 whiteboards on wheels. I was waiting for my laundry to be done (for some reason the laundry room and the study room were connected lmao) 

6.-Which moments has been the scariest for you? 

Legit Kanato’s HDB vampire ending. That shit screwed me up dude, my stomach knotted even more than Laito’s ending. I’ll copy a snippet of a conversation between me and my friend (who loves Kanato) when I just got done with his vampire ending.

me: like Kanato really just took everything Yui loved and had, even her humanity; i just realized the latter, and WOW thats FUCKED UP like Laito did it too but SHIT kanato just,,, went more

my friend: Right?? And it’s so much more eerie with kanato because yui just seems so happy. And yeah laito also took everything away but kanato is just on this whole other level because at least yui remembers her old life and why she loved it with laito but she doesn’t with kanato

me: Yeah its just uhhhhhhhhhh oh god oh fuck

I think creepy stuff juxtaposed by happiness/cuteness just makes it all the worst. Its like that clip of children singing ring around the rosie in horror movies; that specifically doesn’t really get me cuz its so overused now but you get the gist.

I’ve been in this godforsaken hell for 5 years now???? And I think about Laito literally almost every fucking day???? what do I get??? nO dreams with him. I think I’ve had snippets before but I can’t remember any now. It’s unfortunate. 

BUT. I do remember one dream I had where Reiji was in (the irony, I know). Here’s the text I sent to my friend (that was in the dream too) about it:

Me: BRUHHHH U WERE IN MY DREAM LAST NIGHT AND SO WAS REIJI FROM DIABOLIK LOVERS (the one that looks like a pigeon) AND YOU SAID THAT YOU LOST YOUR VIRGINITY IN HIGH SCHOOL TO HIM IM LOSING MY MARBLES LMAO

My friend: 😂😂yoooooo nooooo 🤭

Me: We were all in this bougie ass house waiting for someone, and you, me and Reiji are just on the couch and im introducing myself and all and I was like “I know who you are Reiji” and then the conversation continued and eventually there was a subtle hint in a sentence he said that insinuated that you and him had sex, and I was like “HUH???? [friend’s name] WHAT” and you were like .3. “yeah I hooked up in high school” and I was like “goddammit why didnt you at least introduce me to Laito or something if you knew his family” and you were like “lol”

Anyways I lost my shit when I woke up; enjoy my barely coherent half asleep grammar

Huh, I was just rewatching the train arc and damn, Prosciutto sure does like to put his hands all over everything and everyone. I know Melone gets a lot of flak for being the horniest creep on the team [with...dubious regard for consent], but Pro actually looks like the one who’s far more likely to violate your personal space.

Exhibit A:

The skin on Pesci’s...face? Neck? Both. Makes a weird rubbery squeaking sound when it’s manipulated, you can hear it even when he just turns his head at one point, and Prosciutto takes full advantage of this. Twice. He just, like, plays with his face lmao.

He feels up the walls and the furniture here too, but I mean, he was trying to figure out where the fuck Bruno went in a world where stands are a thing, so this gets a pass for being almost normal.

And here, when he’s super out of it because he just used his own stand on himself to blend in with all the other passengers he boomer-ized, his Strongest Urge through the dementia is to just. Fling himself on anyone that gets close enough to grab, and Rub His Hands All Over Them.

ALSO...his stand, just, in general. The stand he has manifested, The Grateful Dead, has no lower half, it crawls over stuff on its gigantic hands. And its aging ability is DRAMATICALLY amplified, to the point that ice no longer has any effect in curing it...if it can directly touch you. With its hands. Everything about it just prioritizes grabbing stuff. Stands are a reflection of the user’s soul or something, etc., so it is the way it is Specifically Because It IS Prosciutto. That’s The Purest Essence Of Ham.

october book round up

19 books this month, which brings me to 125 for the year, and i’ve officially completed the yearly challenge! :) a little later than last year, but still earlier than i expected. i don’t imagine that i’ll read as much as i did last year, but i can still get a good bit done in two months i think. this month was pretty much just different flavours of romance, once again all audiobooks.

poison kiss - ana mardoll ⭐️⭐️⭐️ mixed feelings about this one. urban fantasy/paranormal with a neat setup and world building, but i feel like the author didn’t tell the story in the most effective way? not enough time spent on certain sections, time skips that were not needed, too many flashbacks. the poly romance was really sweet, though i didn’t much care for the love at first sight aspect when the third character was introduced. but this was a good book overall, with a unique plot and cast; might revisit the series.

the best boy ever made - rachel eliason ⭐️⭐️⭐️ very cute coming of age/ya romance. a conservative country girl is at first shocked when her best friend comes out as trans, but she slowly finds herself becoming his biggest champion, and then falling in love with him. took me a while to warm up to it bc i found the protagonist to be kind of obnoxious. and some of the later plot events were kind of ham-fisted. but i definitely liked it, mostly for sam and how good and kind he was.

i wish you all the best - meason deaver ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ BRUH I’M CRYING IN THE CLUB. this was a really fucking sweet ya romance. the main character finds themselves homeless after they come out as nb to their parents. they move in with their sister, enroll in a new school, and find themselves making friends with (and slowly falling for!) a literal ray of sunshine. this was great, another one of those books i wish i could have read when i was younger. dealt with coming out, depression, anxiety and first love, had great writing, and i’m still thinking about how great the ending lines were.

the neighbour - gerri hill ⭐️⭐️ eh... a book that COULD have been good (woman with a stunted career as a writer moves back home to take care of her ailing mother, finds herself falling for the rich lesbian player next door) but both main characters were so thoroughly unlikable lmao. judgemental, snooty, made jokes about harmful things, kind of elitist... there was one aspect of this book that i really liked (the main character changed careers later in life and it wasn’t seen as a failure, just moving on) but otherwise this was a disappointment.

the turner series - cat sebastian ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ historical romance!!! always a fave. this was a pretty fun series; first three m/m, last one f/f. a bit of mystery and intrigue in all of them, good humour, and a great cast of characters through and through. the second one was probably my favourite; one of the mcs suffered from anxiety attacks in an era where there was a lot of wrong information about mental health, and his love interest (a cheat and a scoundrel) ended up being the best thing that happened to him. although now that i’ve said that i just remembered how very much i love the third book’s protagonist (the rake, to be specific). standout character for sure. the last book has a dear place in my heart bc even though you can tell that the author doesn’t often write f/f, and it was a pretty short novella, it’s still historical lesbians, and i eat up historical lesbians with a spoon. (i could make a pretty bad joke here but lo and behold; i have GREAT self control.)

the secret casebook of simon feximal - k.j. charles ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ when k.j. charles is good, SHE’S REALLY FUCKING GOOD. this is a paranormal-mystery/romance book styled after the adventures of sherlock holmes (if you must know one thing about me it’s that i’m a slut for acd holmes, don’t fucking @ me), set in the very universe itself. not quite a pastiche but close enough, and it was so well written, with great world building around the magic and paranormal events, great characters, GREAT ROMANCE. told as stories published by robert, simon’s biographer and lover. i adored this and will definitely reread.

puppy love romance - georgia beers ⭐️⭐️⭐️ a trio of f/f novels centred around an animal rescue, and the women who work and volunteer there and fall in love there. each of these novels was really sweet, grounded in a way that i like for contemporary romance, and they all had adorable dogs in them. and i feel like beers really knows her way around plotting and pacing a novel, especially small town romances. but i also had pretty sizeable nitpicks for each of them lol. part of it is that i just got tired of beers’ writing style (as you can see, i took a break between the series). this is such a weird complaint but oh my god she uses too many adverbs lol. also there was always an emphasis on how amazingly stunningly gorgeously beautiful all six women were and it got so tiresome. idk who wants to read about women who are physically perfect all the time, but it’s not me. and one half of the romantic pair in each book (lisa, emily and sydney, in that order) had attitudes that i found obnoxious and were not resolved and i felt bad for their girlfriends having to deal with them. a fun read all in all, but some of those things rubbed me the wrong way, and i’m ready to take a break from this author. 

bound series - ava march ⭐️⭐️ a resounding meh. historical m/m romance that wasn’t bad, but there wasn’t anything great about it. i only read these like maybe a week and a half ago but i’m struggling to remember details. there was bdsm, which i didn’t hate, but i also didn’t care. the plot was bleh, the sources of conflict were weak, and one of the dudes was kind of an asshole. /shrug emoji

reverie - eliza andrews ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ god... GOD. the ride i took with this book was like... a really sexy butch took me out to dinner, wined and dined me, and in the very last course she leaned over and spit in me food. the premise: a woman on the run from her abusive ex-husband settles into a small town where she find herself drawn to the only out lesbian in town, a sweet butch ex-marine, and her mysterious nurse of a neighbour. this book was soooooooo well written, so well crafted, so moving, so beautiful. a paranormal mystery that actual kept me guessing. i was ready to name it the best f/f book i read this year, if not the best romance period. and then the ending. the FUCKING ENDING. i’ve rarely been so let down in my life. i’m looking at the four stars i gave this and wondering if i should go lower because SERIOUSLY. thinking about it is getting me kind of upset. this book could have been SO good. uuuuuugh. 

brothers of the wild north sea - harper fox ⭐️⭐️ this is tricky because like. this book was definitely like, not good lmao, but it was good enough that i almost feel guilty giving it 2 stars. this is a historical romance that takes place more than a thousand years ago between a viking and a monk. it wasn’t badly written, probably wasn’t historically accurate but i mean, i don’t care. but it was too long, i didn’t care about the characters, it was badly plotted, and just really confusing overall. i think harper fox is great at writing romance, but all other aspects of this novel fell flat.

escape velocity - anah crow, dianne fox ⭐️⭐️⭐️ sci-fi m/m romance. a linguistic researcher and a pilot struggling with his religious beliefs fall into a whirlwind romance. pretty cute. i found it too short as i find most novellas, but i think the authors did a lot in relatively few words. definitely wish there was more worldbuilding. kind of hope the authors have plans to make this a series.

nowhere ranch - heidi cullinan ⭐️⭐️⭐️ a sweet romance between a farm hand and his boss. i didn’t think i’d like it much, but it was pretty enjoyable! very simple writing stuff that fit well with the gruff, no-nonsense, trying to shut everyone out protagonist. i really liked him; identified with him a lot, and his journey into opening up, dealign with his anxiety and self-worth issues. and the romance was sweet (though oooof, some of the sex scenes were too much). the book went from being really raunchy to really domestic and i kind of liked that. the resolution came a bit too quick, but i enjoyed it nonetheless.

that’s it for october! still currently unemployed, waiting for the people i signed a contract with to call me. since i don’t want to dip too much into my savings i’ve been doing odd jobs here and there, and might take a more steady part-time job in the meantime? all of that to say: i probably won’t be reading as much in november. i’m currently reading the first book in the spencer cohen series, and not... really loving it, lol, so i might pass on the others.

weird dream again! summary: i'm in prague again stuck in a room full of spiders the size of my fist & a guy i feel like wants to kidnap me & sell my organs on the black market. fortunately, i escape & then turn into steven universe.

part 2: lobotomy corporation is real life but everything keeps going wrong lmao

so! first: the setting. i’m in a dilapidated apartment with bad corrugated carpet flooring with my prague roommate Lindsay. we’re sitting on this couch that’s got a huge spiderweb to the left, & smaller, brightly colored spiders are busily spinning their way onto the couch cushions with no mind for proper spacing. across from us is a large, bulky, balding guy wearing a red shirt. he makes me feel very suspicious and unsafe, but i don’t remember why i was in the room. in the dream, i was like “oh this is the room i stayed in in prague!” but it wasn’t. the whole thing was kind of shaped like my bf’s apartment actually but only in layout. 

anyway, there was that juicy fist sized spider. it was brown & iridescent green. it was really big & had a huge fat abdomen, so i moved away from it in the room, but it grew wings & chased me, which was horrifying. the balding guy told me it flew under my butt so i hopped up & sat back on the couch, but away from the other spiders too. 

eventually the guy got up to leave but said “don’t go anywhere” which made me even more suspicious, so i snuck out of the door just as he closed & locked it. then i ran into my boyfriend (?) but as if we’d never met. i explained the situation & we hung out & i did Pokemon Go Quests, which were sort of like research except the tasks it asked you to do had nothign to do with pokemon go, it was like “smash three jars” “throw 5 rocks into the river” etc etc. prague again looked different from my memories - it was nicer & more aesthetic. it looked like someone with too much free time & a minecraft shader pack & also a texture pack went ham on bridges, flowering trees, and lamp posts.

i exited the apartment building which also apparently doubled as the school & saw a sign thta said “

& it was signed by a bunch of people proclaiming solidarity, so i signed it too in gray & wrote “you are so brave i suppport you sister”

then i turned into steven from The Universe, & was accompanied by one of his Steven Univers Friends? his other friends were sitting on some benches looking for me. there was uh. amethyst, garnet, lapis, peridot,, & the wizard. the wizard was light pink with a pointy hat that had green tassels. I was walking past him with my Steven Universe Brand Friend & couldn’t call out to them for some reason could only keep walking, so if i walked past them i’d be gone...

But they did see me! so i was freed from my walking past them spell. 

There was a brief cheerful rejoin & then The Wizard was gonna teleport us back to the states. Before she could charge up her spell, however, I was like “Hey! As long as y’all are here, can I show you my favorite places first?” & everyone was like “yeah okay” but since Prague was completely different from how I remembered it again, I couldn’t find SHIT lmao

dream 2: lobomy comporation? except different. abnormalities were weird rare items instead that were just placedi n hallways and rooms as decorations, like a museum. There was an item - a mask that cried blood - that if you placed it in a room, everyone in the room would go insane & start killing everyone around them. 

Also there were the shoes items, the ones that will occasionally possess someone, except they were absolutely fucked up in timing & would just possess anyone that came into a certain range rather than one at a time every time the counter goes to 0, & they seemed to take twice as many clicks to fix.  

i had a character that was like. a 7 year old with a bowl cut & only he could negate the effects of the insta-insanity from the bleeding mask but ONLY if i put him next to the shoes room where he would get possessed every 5 seconds & i had to spam clicks on him until he was cured.

NCT Fantasy AU Intro

Genre: Fluffy, humor

Summary: You meet the NCT boys in an unexpected manner..

Word count: 3530

A/n: I went a little ham with this and it’s not even very good lmao. It was mainly to just sorta explain what creatures they are?? More specific character development and background stories are gonna be done in the separate writings. Hopefully y’all enjoy this at least a little bit 🖤 I need to add a break in it but I don’t have my laptop at the moment, so sorry for those of you who have to scroll past the whole thing!!

You sigh in relief, approaching the only building you’ve seen in miles. Getting caught in a storm wasn’t your most ideal plan of action, and heading into a tavern in the forest of Lorlake as a human of all things? Well… That was a last resort. Inhabitants of Lorlake’s forest ranges from the smallest of faeries to a family of giants, but no humans. Never a human. As you walk under the shelter of the roofing, you pull down your raincoat hood and shake stray water from your hair. You reach up for the door handle and tug. The door doesn’t budge due to it being so heavy and the wind forcing it closed, so you plant your feet and pull as hard as you can.

After a few minutes of struggling, you finally manage to open it enough to slip in, being as quiet as possible. Right as your second foot lands onto the tavern’s wooden floors, a big gust of wind blows in and slams the door shut. Everyone turns to look at you. Oh gosh.

Murmurs erupt throughout the tavern. You cautiously take off your raincoat and haphazardly toss it on the loaded coat rack. As you spin around to walk deeper into the tavern, you are greeted by everyone still intensely staring at you. Your thoughts are cut off by the clicking of hooves, looking up to be met with the side of a horse.

“Quit staring at them,” the horse bellows. You looked higher to view the human torso extending from where the head of the horse should be. “I’m sure they’re just as bewildered as you all are. Go back to your drinks.”

There was a pregnant pause as the creatures all process what the man had said. “Now!” Authority was clear in his voice, all of the creatures turning back to their previous conversations, though you were surely an added topic.

You turn to properly look at the man. “Thank you..” You mutter quietly. Though he was a centaur, he might as well have been a giant. If he was a human, he definitely would have been over six foot, with sleek brown hair and brown eyes. He cranes his neck down to look at you, a charming smile plastered on his face.

“No problem, Tiny! My name’s Johnny, nice to meet you.” Johnny extends his long arm down to shake yours.

His hand engulfs yours as you exchange names. “Y/n,” You say while scanning the interior. Though the tavern was clearly sectioned off for the diversity of Lorlake’s inhabitants, many of varying sizes and needs mingled together. To the right is a section scaled down for the faeries, to the left is a ‘normal’ sized seating area. In the back resides a bar, the area storing alcohol completely overrun by water, mermaids and mermen serving and lounging about. Johnny gives a lopsided grin and puts his hand on the top of your back to lead you.

“C’mon, you can sit and chat with me and my friends. We’re a pretty diverse group… Kumihos, faeries, mermen, yeah. You get my point. We have lots of people.” You nod at his words. The bar must connect to the main lake, You think. That’s the only way they could get here, right? You both stop in front of a gaggle of 17. They all pause to look at the visitor Johnny has brought over.

In front of you sits two kumihos, four mermen, four faeries, two fawns, two sets of what you assumed were wizards and familiars, and one werewolf. Johnny greets the group.

“Hey guys, this is Y/n! She’s gonna hang out with us until the storm passes. Say hi.” The group gives a collective respectful ‘hello’ before breaking off to return to their chaos. A couple of the mermen, a familiar, the two fawns, and a faerie bursts out and attacks you with piles of questions.

“Are you a human?”

“How old are you?”

“Do you know what chicken is?”

“Where are you from?”

“How did you get here?”

Johnny laughs at your bewildered face before guiding you to sit in their circle. A deep rumble comes from across you to the left.

“Calm down guys, they’re probably worn out already. And yes, Lucas, humans know what chicken is. They have farms.” You snap your head to look at who spoke, spotting a man with white-pink hair and fox ears along with matching tails and black eyes, specks of blood littered near his mouth. You squeak at the half eaten heart in his and his brown haired companion’s hands. He glances down at his hand, chuckling idly.

“Relax, we refrain from eating human. Us at least. Some other rogues still run around wildly. Anyways, I’m Taeyong and this is Jaehyun.” Taeyong gives a warm close mouthed smile and Jaehyun waves his bloody hand. “Nice to meet you, Y/n.” You nod in a silent response.

To your right, behind the bar and in the water, a laugh that pierces your ears sounds off. Your eyes widen, frozen in shock. Was that a dolphin? A girl?? There was no girl in the circle when you approached, though, you think. Finally, you turn. Floating in the water are four mermen, one of which is leaning heavily on the counter, laughing his ass off. Highlighter purple hair flopped on the top his head, scattering across his forehead completely dry. Sitting slightly under his eyes, are shiny lavender markings, barely visible to the human eye. Similar coloured markings swirl across his hand and up his wrist, similar to henna.

Though he is very obviously a boy, he sounds like a dolphin or an alarm. You flinch as he starts up with the brown and blue haired merman again, raising you hand to your ear to block out the sound. The grey merman beside the other three notices your struggle and flicks the dolphin boy’s forehead, effectively shutting him up.

“Calm yourself, it wasn’t even that funny. You’re hurting the poor kid’s ears,” He says sharply to the two very loud laughers. The other guy next to the purple boy, also laughing but not quite as high as his friend, has chocolate brown hair and dark blue highlights that were barely noticeable upon first glance. Similar to the purple boy, the blue boy has markings on his body. A deep tattoo-like navy blue, basically black, litters his bicep in the shape of an arm cuff. Intricate designs scrawl from his collar bone to his shoulders, wrapping around to somewhere on his back.

The purple boy stops his laughing and gasps overdramatically. Letting out a concerned scream (that you suppose is a common theme with these two), he frantically reaches over the bar to grab at your hands even though he actually grabs your wrists to apologize. “Oh my gosh! I’m so sorry! I really didn’t mean to, I swear! Please forgive me!”

The blue boy lets out a laugh. “I don’t think they forgive you, LeLe. Tsk Tsk, good going.” The purple boy, who you now assume is named LeLe, lets out a defeated scream and slams his head into your arm, going limp and flopping down onto the bar. You cringe at the noise.

“It’s ok, really. Just please stop yelling…” You say, patting his head awkwardly. LeLe’s head pops up in surprise before you’re pulled into a bone crushing hug, his face smushing against yours. The light grey and bright red mermen watching from the side snicker at the two’s antics.

“Yes, please stop screaming so our eardrums are spared.” LeLe ignores the grey merman and starts helf yelling, half speaking.

“Really?! Thank you, thank you! I’m sorry I hurt your ears, I didn’t mean to!” Suddenly, LeLe’s grasp on you is torn. You peer behind you to see a fluffy brown haired boy, who mostly resembles a human. The wand in his hand pointing in LeLe’s direction indicates otherwise. He reminds you of a puppy.

The fluffy boy let out a half annoyed, half relieved sigh. “Sorry about Chenle. He’s loud and proud. The blue loud guy is Lucas,-”

“Hi!!”

A sigh. “The grey merman is Ten, the red kid is Renjun, and this is my familiar, Haechan.” The fluffy boy gestures to the orange haired cat boy, who you didn’t notice before, beside him. He waves silently, a smirk on his face as he gazes at Chenle struggling behind the bar, arms still magically raised by the fluffy boy. “And my name is Mark. I’m a wizard.”

“Ah, that’s why you looked normal.” You say, awkwardly folding your hands in your lap. Johnny chuckles at you and leans down.

“Do you want some food or a drink to keep your hands busy?” You nod, muttering a quick thanks. Meanwhile, Chenle lets out a pitiful whine.

“Maaark! Please put my hands down??” He says, shaking against the restraint. Quiet giggles are heard as four tiny figures hop on Chenle’s shoulders and head. Two of the boys tug at Chenle’s highlighter hair as the other two bounce about on his shoulders. Mark snickers and finally lets Chenle’s wrists free, splashing water over his head and onto the faeries.

Tiny high pitched shrieks are heard. “Dude, watch the water! Drowning is not my goal for today.” A laugh bubbles up from your throat, dragging your hand up to cover your grin. The faeries’ heads snap to look at you.

“Oh yeah! The human,” One with what looks like dark purple colours says. He weakly flutters to the counter from Chenle’s right shoulder. “Hi, I’m Doyoung.” His tiny hand waves quite wildly as he gestures to the other figures still residing on Chenle’s head and left shoulder. “The soft boy on LeLe’s left shoulder is WinWin,” WinWin has soft pink and yellow hair and a colour palette to match for his wings. He waves gently while carefully climbing down Chenle’s arm.

“And the two trouble makers are on LeLe’s head. The one with a deathwish is Yuta,” Between the two faeries left, you assume the one calmly sitting on Chenle’s head was not Yuta. The other faerie swinging from Chenle’s bangs as LeLe cries out in pain? Now, that was most definitely Yuta. He has dark brick red hair with dark pink wings, flecks of dark bluey purple embedded without it. “The smart calm one is Taeil.”

Taeil waves before diverting his attention to Yuta. “You’re gonna lose your grip and then you’re gonna die and then you’re gonna whine about us not caring.” Taeil has ashy blue hair and wings, a bolder blue around the edges. Yuta lets out a laugh.

“Jokes on you, Chenle’s gonna go underwater and you’re gonna drown.” He sticks his tongue out at Taeil and flies down to the countertop next to the other two. “Anyways, welcome to our terrible group of friends, half of us are idiots and the other half are done with life brain cells. You’ve met 8 of the sensible ones and 4 of the stupid ones. Goodluck, it’s all downhill from here.” You snicker at his statement before nodding.

“I see,” you say as you watch Doyoung return to the other faeries. Suddenly, you feel a delicate tap on your shoulder. Turning around, you’re surprised to see the other familiar sending you a gentle smile. On the top of the boy’s head of grey-blue hair sat a pair of floppy bunny ears, similarly coloured and when he turns to gesture you over, you catch sight of a soft cotton tail.

“Come over with me! I’ll introduce you to the rest of the kids.” You shrug and follow the pure looking boy. Two things catch your attention immediately. One is the tired looking brunette supervising half of the younger boys who reminds you of an exhausted uncle watching his brother’s bratty kids. He looks fairly normal, at least at first glance, so you assume he was the familiar’s wizard. The second is the werewolf sitting silently in the midst of the chaos, black hair and fuzzy ears adorning his head, as well as a fluffy tail curled around the back of his chair. He has an impossibly sharp jawline but now that you think about it, most of the boys did and a stone cold resting face, black-looking eyes staring at nothing in particular as he spaces out.

Before you can acknowledge the other three boys, the bunny familiar interrupts your thoughts. “Where’s NaNa?” He asks his wizard, a frown splaying across his face. The wizard shrugs.

“Think he went to the bathroom? I don’t know and honestly, I don’t care too much at this point.” He says, sighing in defeat and closing his eyes.

So you were right. He was essentially a tired uncle.

“Hmm. Well fine,” The familiar says. “I’ll just introduce you to who’s here and NaNa can suffer.” You let out a airy laugh, pulling your shirt’s sleeves down your arms in an attempt to keep your hands busy. He smiles gently at you again as he continues, “My name is Jungwoo! My wizard’s name is Kun.” He gestures in the uncle’s direction briefly before he lines his body with the other boys. “The fawn over there is Jisung, he’s the youngest. He’s pretty quiet unless he’s with the Dreamies, then he just becomes a savage. We just call him Ji.”

The fawn, now known as Jisung, turns from his conversation with Haechan, LeLe and Renjun at the mention of his name. He looks like a deer caught in the headlights pun fully intended. A soft pink colour rises to his cheeks before he carefully whips his head back to his loud friends.

Jisung has fluffy, mousy brown hair atop his head that you have the intense urge to ruffle. Decent sized antlers sprout from his temples, nearly hidden by his bangs, with ears as big as your hand and a cute little deer tail.

Your stare is broke when you hear a door shut and footsteps booming in the groups direction. Startled, you look with Jungwoo to see yet another fawn sprinting over, his eyes locked on the spaced-out werewolf. Before you can even react, the fawn glomps the werewolf in a full on cuddle, burying his head into the other boy’s neck.

The werewolf lets out a little squeak as he’s tugged from staring into the abyss and blushes heavily, retracting from nothing in particular other than his own awkwardness.

Your jaw is slack as Jungwoo laughs at you and the wolf. “That’s Jeno. He looks intimidating but really he’s awkward and likes making lame jokes. The other fawn is NaNa, he likes affection a little bit too much. Thanks for so graciously joining us, NaNa!” He said sarcastically.

You fumble as you attempt to get the words out of your mouth, pointing accusingly at Jeno. “But.. He’s so..- What?”

NaNa lets out a loud laugh at your bumbling. You turn to glare at the boy, but also to scan him over. Similar to Jisung, NaNa has deer ears, antlers, and a tail, as well as light brown hair and chocolatey eyes. The main difference between the boys is that NaNa is overall fluffier than Jisung, as well as the gleaming gold markings near his cheeks and up his arms. But now that you really look.. Jisung has similar marks in a pearlescent colour that you weren’t able to see prior.

Jeno, ears now downturned out of embarrassment, mutters lowly to the boy snuggling up to him. “Get off me, there’s a different person here…” You are appalled. The wolf has a completely different personality than you had anticipated.

Jungwoo clears his throat to gain the attention of you and the other boys before gesturing for you to reintroduce yourself. You cough awkwardly to clear your throat as Haechan snickers.

“Uhh.. I’m Y/n.” Your hand raises quickly for an uncomfortable wave. A laugh bubbles from Jungwoo’s throat before he shoves you into the boys’ circle. LeLe gives you a bright grin and tries to ring you into their conversation.

“Do you have any questions?” He asks, propping himself up on his forearms on the counter and half out of the water. NaNa and Jisung nod in agreement, the other three boys turning to stare at you. Your eyes widen in panic.

“Uhh. Yeah? I guess?” You say frantically as NaNa tugs you to sit on a chair next to them. “How did this little group get created? Aren’t different species supposed to not get along? Are all of your faeries and fawns and mermaids and kumihos related to each other? What about the wizards?”

LeLe, NaNa, and Haechan laugh at your schpiel. “First of all, no. None of us are related, that’s just a bad stereotype,” LeLe’s the quickest to answer.

“Same with the thing about different species’ not getting along. Totally not true,” NaNa cuts in. LeLe nods in agreement before continuing his sentence.

“As for us becoming friends, I personally first met Jisung on the surface of the lake. Then NaNa found out and introduced me to his friends while I made my only merman friends meet them all.”

You tilt your head in questioning. “Oh. Did you not meet each other in here? I thought that was probable.” Jeno lets out a small laugh.

“Actually our group made this place. Technically Johnny and Jaehyun own it, but everyone in our group helped and partially own it.”

You let out a very long, “Ohhhh.”

Haechan snickers again. “I don’t know why you all stayed, they’re all idiots.” Jisung scoffs at his statement.

“You’re still here. So are you part of the idiots or the other idiots?” He says. Jeno and NaNa snort while LeLe lets out his loud dolphin laugh. You just sit there, mildly shocked. Though you should’ve expected it; Jungwoo had warned you. Haechan lightly smacks the boy’s arm.

“So are you, so shut up!” He yells quite loudly. Jisung immediately snaps back.

“I’m friends with LeLe, it’s to be expected of me to stay with idiots.” It turns to chaos, the boys laughing and clapping while LeLe yells a “Hey!” at him. You have to admit, that was a pretty good one. Poor LeLe probably doesn’t have any ego left in him. At that point, you hear hooves clicking. Looking up, you spot Johnny walking over with a cup of hot chocolate milk and some cookies.

“Sorry about that, I got caught up talking to Jaehyun and Taeyong.” You stare at the food in his hands. Had you asked for it? You didn’t have any money so you couldn’t pay for it, which means you probably didn’t. Unless you had somehow forgotten? Johnny laughs at your confused face. “I asked you earlier if you wanted some food. And I got you some hot chocolate, since you must be freezing. It was really storming hard when you got here.” He carefully hands you the food as NaNa whines.

“You never give any of us free food!” He falls dramatically on Jeno’s lap towards Johnny for emphasis. Johnny simply laughs and waves him off.

“You all run the place, of course you have to pay,” Johnny fold his legs beneath the horse part of his body and sits down on the floor, leaning his arms against the counter. “What were you all talking about?”

“We were talking about how we’re all idio-” NaNa cuts Jisung off with a nervous laugh and a step on the foot.

“We were just talking about how cool all of us were to become friends and create this place! LeLe was just gonna explain how the water bar works!” NaNa yells.

“I was?” He asks. NaNa nods frantically gesturing for him to talk before Jisung does. “Oh!! Yeah totally! Ha ha…” He laughs nervously for a while before Renjun swims over and cuts him off.

“The water bar has an underground tunnel we dug out that attaches to the lake. Don’t know how we managed to do that but whatever works, y’know?” He explains.

You laugh softly. “Is interrupting each other just a theme in this friend group?”

Johnny nods, “Pretty much.”

You all talk for a while, the older boys joining the conversation, and soon enough, you’ve gotten to befriend and learn about every single one of them.

Johnny pauses, the other boys falling silent. “Do you all hear that?” They all tilt their heads at him as he grins. “Exactly. It means the storm stopped.”

Your eyes widen. “Really? How long has it been?” You glance at the clock on the wall, realizing you’ve been here for more than two hours. “Oh my god, I have to leave! My family is gonna kill me for being out in the storm so late!” You quickly bounce up and run to grab your coat.

“You’re always welcome back anytime!” Jaehyun yells across the tavern. You nod and give a thumbs up.

“I’ll make sure to come back and visit soon!”

And so you did.

Got yelled at heavily by your parents and overprotective sibling… but also visited the tavern again and again to see the boys.

Kroojin Wedding!

ahhh the first of the nine muses to wed, I’m so proud :’)

(this is just a fun thing we were joking about that I decided to do bc I love weddings and I love the nine muses)

The Proposal:

Okay so Kris and Woojin were vacationing in Iceland over their anniversary

And Woojin took her to this frozen lake at night to see the aurora

Kris was like “It’s so beautiful.  I’ve never seen anything more beautiful in my life”

and Woojin was like “I have”

(looking at her obvs)

and then he dropped to his knee and did the whole thing 

ya know “I love you, you’re the light of my life, I want to spend the rest of my life with you” and all that jazz

and Kris was kinda speechless for a second

and then she said “yea ily2″

(obviously)

and poof they were engaged!!

The Wedding Party:

The bridesmaids ( @doublekn0t @s0ftminho @straycuties @scene-stealers @realstraykids @hwangs @hyyunjinn and myself) wear these sleeveless navy blue dresses 

and the groomsmen (Chan, Minho, Changbin, Hyunjin, Jisung, Felix, Seungmin, and Jeongin) all wear gray suits with navy ties.

(it’s a lovely wedding party and hey everyone’s together isn’t that perfect XD)

Okay now onto the fun stuff...

okay so the wedding ceremony itself was not super dramatic

like nothing went wrong bc nobody would mess with these fluffy bears

like the flower girl went the wrong way and Chan ended up with a basket on his head

but he and his date (Em ofc) just laughed it off and he helped the flower girl by throwing all the petals that were on him back onto the aisle

and ofc the typical Kris enters and Woojin smiles so brightly when he sees her

like “am I actually lucky enough to marry this beautiful girl”

and they exchange their vows and its beautiful

and they kiss and Jeungmin and Jeonglin pretend to be grossed out bc we’re fetuses

and Chan’s crying 

and Em’s judging Chan for crying

And Minho’s just like “yea get it Woojin!!”

and Cici just lowkey scoots away from her dork of a bf

and Changbin's trying to hide his tears

but astrella hugs him and starts crying with him

and Hyunjin’s snapping a million photos with Maria helping him

tbh he’d probs rope her into using his polaroid camera to get some artsy polaroid as well as his professional-grade photos

and haz and felix are lowkey playing footsie the entire time

and then Jicolle are trying not to laugh bc they managed to get away with coloring a small strip of Woojin’s hair neon pink when he fell asleep

okay onto the reception

so everyone’s like eating and all that and it’s super cute like woojin’s feeding Kris

and then Changbin turns to Astrella and is like “why can’t we do that?”

and she shoves an entire loaf of bread in his face

and everyone’s laughing at Changstrella and joking around and Em and Chan are making sure the chillings only drink a little alcohol (except we all know how Em would actually be *ahem*)

so Chan would probs have to subtly switch Em over to mocktails

im kidding guys Em doesn’t have a drinking problem em pls don’t kill me lol

But yea everyone would just be having a blast and cooing over the newlyweds

Minho wouldn’t stop making honeymoon jokes

Cici would tell him he’d be sleeping on the couch that night if he doesn’t stop

tbh I’m probably just stuffing my face the entire time

who am I kidding I’d be so enveloped with Jeongin like I couldn’t stop paying attention to him

except ofc to be a supportive friend to ma girl Kris who just got hitched

so after dinner the music starts so ofc Hyunia is the first to go out there and bust some moves

and soon after comes Minci who starts grinding (cici I warned you i’d make him grind in this lmao sorry but also its funny so I dont regret it XD)

Hazlix are just dabbing and doing the shoot dance until Chem drag them from the dance floor and force some chamomile tea into them

Bennett's specialty dish: Charred Cheese Sandwich

This recipe is slightly different than his in game specialty, which is just an egg lmao (base recipe Teyvat Fried Egg, which becomes Teyvat Charred Egg under Benny's care)

The variant in the cookbook was created by genshin_foodpact on instagram.

The recipe is fairly straightforward. There's a white bechamel sauce on the sandwich, which prompted my roommate to say he was reminded of Eggs Benedict when he saw the finished sandwich. Here is the sauce before and after thickening/ adding salt and pepper.

Layering the sandwich up was pretty simple but I definitely questioned putting four slices of ham on one sandwich lmao I folded them over when stacking them for a slightly nicer visual effect.

Once all the ingredients were applied, it went into the oven. Before and after shot of that fancy gruyere cheese

The last step was adding the egg that is Bennett's actual specialty.

Overall it was fairly tasty, though I understand why they say "2 servings" despite the recipe only making a single sandwich. I did, in fact put half of it away and eat it later instead.

It is a sandwich but I was not about to pick up a runny egg, so I ate it with a knife and fork. I had extra of the bechamel sauce, so I actually made a second sandwich and experimented trying gouda instead for the cheese and whole wheat bread.

There is a little gruyere on the edge so i can directly compare lol

I definitely preferred the other bread, the wheat detracts from the other flavors too much. I like the extra flavor the dijon mustard adds to the sandwich though, I will certainly keep that in mind for future cooking experiments of my own.

C: What character do you identify with most?

Lmao that’s a really good question!! It’s funny... I think many of us went through a similar process here, of liking Hamilton and relating to him, but then also encountering Laurens and really relating to him? But I think that’s because Hamilton is a specific kind of person, that a lot of the time it’s less relating to him outright and more... looking to him as an example? Both good and bad. Being enthralled by him and wanting to learn from him and figure out how to take on those qualities of passion and ambition and hard work without also gaining the many negative qualities. And I think that’s part of what interested John about Alex as well - John had so much tendency to self-doubt, and of course there was the whole issue of what he would study and how his dad basically forced him into law, but then there’s Alex who is so sure of what he’s going to do and how he’s going to do it...

But ramble aside: I identify a lot with Laurens like emotionally? And tend to project my insecurities and worries onto him. And also since I am also a white person from a wealthy family I try to kinda... be aware of that through him, as a way to work through what it’s easy to forget in my position and how I need to do better. So I guess I relate to him morally, as well. But... I first did get into this fandom because I saw something in Hamilton that I almost never saw in any other characters. Like, I almost never really relate to characters? There isn’t any character at all I can point to and say ‘yep, they’re just like me’? And Hamilton spoke to me in a bunch of ways I didn’t think I’d ever find. But like I said, it’s also partially a lesson thing - he taught me that I could be the way I was and still work and achieve things and be useful and do good, but it was also kind of a ‘yeah you can do better in THESE ways though, wow’ kind of thing. So though I don’t write from his POV much for various reasons, I definitely relate to him in some really important ways as well.

And uh, beyond this fandom... I love Leslie Knope but I’m more like Ben Wyatt, and there’s a whole bunch of moe anime girls that I relate way too much to (like Suou from Flowers and Hanamaru from Love Live! and oh god, Tsukimi from Princess Jellyfish for sure...)

I was into Supernatural right before this and lmao, canon-verse Dean/Castiel is like, inherently hurt/comfort :P And yet my favourite is probably this human AU one where Dean is a paraplegic and Cas is a guy who comes in to hang out and talk with people at the care facility and it’s written so so sensitively and avoids a lot of the gross ableist tropes that are so common in this type of fic because it’s written by someone who actually knows their stuff a lot and it’s REALLY GOOD and great!!

(Also just in general I tend to bookmark fic on AO3 when I like them, and I read for a pretty broad array of fandoms, so if you’re looking for recs you might find some you like there!)

I: Do you have a guilty pleasure in fic (reading or writing)?

MAN like I really have a thing for like... stuff to do with intimacy? Specifically, kinda mismatched or forced intimacy or whatever. Like the classic ‘there’s only one bed’ thing, where two characters who are just friends (or, like ‘’just friends’’) suddenly have to share a bed together, or the even MORE classic pretend lovers thing, where two friends have to pretend to be a couple and it’s all awkward and uncomfortable and they start feeling it FOR REAL but then it’s like nooo they’re only pretending, we have to act like we’re so close but we’re not but I wish we were...! MAN it’s so great!! Like IDK there’s just something about characters ending up in this position and it’s awkward but they end up learning so much about each other and then falling for each other and that just makes it even worse... Love it :’)

Or like, I looove like sexual tension and friendships that tip just a bit over too much and that steady slow burn as they get closer and closer and they’re SO CLOSE to getting together but NOT QUITE and they’re so much PINING and TOUCHING and ahhhh!!!!

Also just, projecting as much of myself and various identities and stuff onto characters as possible :P

S-so many... orz hmmMMM here’s a couple!

A modern day AU Hamburrger thing where they dated in college and now they’re both politicians and it comes out and Ham just kinda admits to it because what does he care and now Burr is just *screaming internally* at all times because he actually wanted to keep every tiny bit of his private life out of the public sphere, thanks?

Another Hamburrger thing where Ham is just trying to have a fun sexy time but Burr keeps unintentionally prodding at Ham’s really painful memories and stuff and it all just falls apart

One that I’ll almost certainly never write but: Lams AU assuming Ham dies in 1804 (which I don’t think he would but whatever) and Alex Jr is mourning but it’s difficult at home because he and Eliza never got along that well so he ends up staying over with Laurens instead and somehow they get to talking and finding ways to mourn together and Eliza as well and it’s all awkward and sad but they’re figuring it out eventually somehow

Various other Lams AU things, including: a kind of day in the life thing featuring domesticity and more Ham and Frances interaction, Laurens first moving into the city next to Ham and a LOT of domesticity and also porn?, Ned Stephens showing up and effectively doing the ‘if you hurt him I’ll kill you’ to Laurens, Alex and Eliza talking about the whole ‘Im cheating on you with a man’ thing where they are both irrevocably on different pages and will never agree but at least start to understand each other a little better

John and Francis meeting up during the war. Which sounds like a perfectly simple premise which I totally don’t need to research at all before I start writing it in my head!!!

Also I couldn’t write it myself because I don’t know nearly enough but I’d be really curious to see a Lams fic set in modern times, but like, where they’re both still in the military? Obviously such a fic would have to engage with the whole issue of the American military and all but like, we already have to engage with slavery as a thing, soooo it’s hardly foreign territory (no pun intended).

S: Any fandom tropes you can't resist?

Already covered part of that :P I love those dumb plots that basically revolve around ‘two characters are stuck together! How do they react?’ because there are just so many ways they can go depending on the characters and that’s really interesting!!

I also really love domestic fic including kid fic, historical AUs, interesting formats (like epistolary etc.), Outsider POV, and of course slow burn!

I quite like fandom tropes in general, to the extent that people really do, like... cross-reference the pairing and characters to the trope and write it specifically for them, and not just some Generic Pretend Couple Fic and change the names? I just really like seeing all the subtle differences between different interpretations of the same characters, when it’s done well!

T: Any fandom tropes you can't stand?

Hoo boy :) Well first up, I’m not into D/s, so any kind of A/b/o and slavefic and stuff I just walk right past. And as I implied above, when I get into a pairing, I really like to get into like... what makes that pairing special and unique and different? So I really dislike any stuff which cleaves towards making them more generic, like ‘jock!{character}/nerd!{character}’ type fic, which usually just ends up exactly the same as any other jock/nerd fic. (Also maybe it’s just cause I’m Aussie but we...didn’t ever actually have strict groupings like that in high school? So those fic in particular are just. Bizarre to me.)

Related, I tend not to like high school/college/coffee shop AUs because they’re usually like really overtly ‘hey this is what it is like for people here!! haha doesn’t it reflect your time in college really well? this is just what things are like for me!!’ and they are...usually not relatable to me. At all. Because my experiences are quite weird;;; So I just. don’t enjoy reading them because it makes me feel bad lol.

And uhhhh I really dislike fic where people go hard on the sarcasm and stuff? Like it mostly just ends up making them sound like assholes. I admit I’m particularly sensitive to this but I really, really hate people who mock and insult other people for just being themselves and doing what they want and 90% of snarky seems to be about that, especially when done by inexperienced writers. But even experienced writers do this sometimes when they get this idea that banter is good writing 100% of the time or that it’s too ‘’’simple’’’ just to write a character being like... nice? Or genuine? (Like holy shit I got soooo damn sick of snarky!Castiel like yeah great he is sarcastic OCCASIONALLY in canon, he’s not a grumpy asshole 24/7, where do people get this??? But it’s also something that comes up a lot in Hamilton musical fic and. yeah.)

Patton Oswalt Continues To Support Bullied Middle Schooler As It's Revealed That The Youngster's Mother May Be Racist

The Tennessee middle schooler who broke millions of people's hearts after his heartbreaking video about bullying went viral is now at the center of a racism controversy.

As we previously reported, A-listers -- including Rihanna, Chris Evans, Millie Bobby Brown, etc. -- flocked to Twitter and Instagram to voice their support for Keaton Jones after his mother uploaded a vid where the young student was in tears over the bullying he's faced by his peers at school.

Per the video, Jones' classmates have allegedly been making fun of his nose, called him ugly, and have accused him of having no friends. At one point, Keaton's fellow middle schoolers "put milk on [him] and put ham down [his] clothes, [an threw] bread on [him]." How awful.

Understandably, many were moved upon learning of Keaton's plight. However, as more information surfaced about the youngster's family, fewer people have become sympathetic to Jones' situation. Why?? Well, apparently, Keaton's mother Kimberly Jones appears to have far right leaning political beliefs.

As you surely know, the confederate flag is widely regarded today as a symbol of historical racism, pain, and suffering.

MMA fighter Joe Schilling also posted a conversation with an Instagram user claiming to be the mother, which quickly became viral (below):

While the evidence (above) has not been officially verified, it has sparked quite a bit of attention online (btw, we're not okay with Schillings' purported use of that derogatory term, either). Not to mention, Jones has since shut down her Facebook account as of Monday morning.

Unsurprisingly, in light of these damning posts, many online have asked celebrities to withdraw their support of Keaton. Patton Oswalt has recently faced off with one of the critics and noted:

Hmmm, interesting point. Something else that's sweeping the Internet -- Keaton himself has supposedly addressed the controversy as, in an unverified post online, a user claiming to be the middle schooler wrote:

Huh. We hope this apology is one) legit and two) not a PR attempt to combat the rumors that Keaton himself was being racist at school, hence, the bullying (though to be clear -- bullying and violence are never the solution).

While this report has yet to be confirmed, one Twitter user shared:

Oh, and Keaton's principal Greg Clay told one local paper that the bullying Jones claimed he suffered was "not as rampant as the video would have you believe." Clay relayed:

"I can't tell you what was done, but I can tell you action was taken with the children."

Drama, drama, dramaaaa. Regardless, Keaton is certainly enjoying this celebrity attention, as one insider told People:

"Keaton is thrilled to hear from everyone. It really means a lot to him."
