Tech, geez....
My ipad won't charge and keeps disconnecting from the internet.
My computer is finally uploading all the photos from last month to the cloud, but at the speed my internet runs it will take five days to do, during which time I can't use it at all. And by "it" I mean both the computer and my internet. As soon as it is done I'll spend all my time deleting photos to make space for more photos, what with being completely out of memory on the poor thing.
My phone has the worst data plan ever, and is low, low end anyway, so using it online is a pain.
My bluray player keeps trying to connect to the internet, with no way to shut that off. No matter what I watch a message pops up to say it isn't connected, and I can't even watch a movie without having to get up and unplug the player three or four times.
My ipod shuffle, my only way to listen to music since my ipod touch died a couple months ago, is starting to glitch and the switch won't turn it off anymore. My camera is getting worse and worse. And not just the old problems like moisture behind the lens and the ports all having failed.  It takes repeated tries to set it, but even  then the  settings randomly undo in the middle of taking a photo. Like, I put it on macro, click, and it resets to one of those silly “art” settings or whatever. And occasionally it erases the damn memory card!
Don't ask about streaming. Just don't. I love to watch/listen to new stuff BUT it has to be weighed against tech hell interrupting. I always have to double the time it will take.
One thing works right: Pop's old ipad with the shattered screen. Trouble is, because of apple crap and it having been a gift to Pop, I can't do any updates without erasing everything on it. I am not willing to let go of Pop's stuff. Which means it has had no updates since 2014, or actually 2012 I think. It no longer will even go to most websites without being updated.
I can’t afford to replace anything. At this rate I am soon going to be as technologically advanced as someone in the 19th century!
Actually, I am breaking out my old turn table for music, and I will always miss my old film camera. I MISS having prints and negatives of my photos!  I am one EMP away from losing every photo I’ve taken in the last 15yrs, esp. if I don’t have the money to renew my Amazon Prime** next month.
**Look, I hate Amazon too, but Pop got Prime back in the day and I took advantage of the photo storage. Now I have close to 300,000 photos there, and no way to store them anywhere else. I am trapped, having to renew just  for my photos despite being too broke to afford it. It feels like a hostage situation. Renew or we will shoot all your darling little pics… Geez, I wish I were rich enough to have options. And prints of all my photos, while I’m at it.
I’ve been finding old photos over 100 yrs old lying around the house, people long gone from living memory but moments from their life still smiling back at me. But all my photos, all these digital photos, will probably cease to exist soon after I do.  So I can see someone petting a cat in 1918, but no one 100 years from now is gonna stumble across one of my photos of Ryoga and go “OMG, Great Aunt Stephanie had such a cute pig!”

I’ve just always wondered, if the darling successfully ran away and mentally blocked it all out what would happen if Deku found her? But she doesn’t remember him at all, it’s complete trauma-induced amnesia. Would he forcibly kidnap her again? Would he try to make things right and not scare her off again? What would he do?
WAIT I LOVE THIS
-Drop requests for mha x reader below y’all:)
Alright let’s get into it:))
WARNINGS: Manipulation
-
A painful throb.
That’s what you felt, you felt as though someone had dropped a rock on your head.
Despite this your eyes fluttered opened and you sat up to get a feel of where you were.
You had no idea where you were or what time it was. All you could confirm was that it was dark out, raining, and the clouds were covering the sun. And your head...
Damnit your head was killing you. Not to mention it was freezing and your clothes clung to your body as the pouring rain continued to hit your skin.
You stood up slowly groaning at the pain your body was also in. Bruises and sore mucles all over.
What happened to you?
How did you even get behind this creepy ass alley.
All these questions started pilling up before you heard the squeaking of shoes in the rain on concrete. You felt yourself freeze up as the foot steps got louder and louder.
Before an ever so visible silhouette came into view.
“I found you sweet heart...did you honestly think you could run away?” A voice from the darkness asked,
You felt yourself back away from whoever the sound came from, as you mentally prepared yourself to run.
“You’re fucking pathetic.” He says harshly, you swallow hard as you opened your mouth to speak.
“W-Who are you? What do you want?” You ask stuttering slightly, the cold now effecting your speech.
As the man got closer you noticed something quickly, he was tall. Like really fucking tall.
You guessed he was at least 6’5 or 6’6.
The man had green hair, visible freckles even in the dark. His eyes were a pericing green and his aura was even more terrifying.
He seemed so...angry.
In the middle of your thoughts you heard him begin to laugh hysterically clutching his chest as if you had told him the funniest joke ever.
You watched the man with wide eyes before he caught his breath and looked up at you with anger in his green eyes.
Before you knew it the man had moved from his spot and was now in front of you. Invading your space.
“I-.”
“DONT LIE TO ME!” He shouted loudly, you freaked and slapped him hard across the face cause him to stumble at the impact.
“I don’t know who you are.” You say again,
“I-I don’t fucking know where I am. My head is killing me. So forgive me if I don’t know who you fucking are.” You say almost hysterically,
The cold, mixed with your frustration, mixed with the unavoidable pain you were in was making everything start to piss you off.
He wiped his mouth and stood up straight. Looking at you intently almost confused. Before his eyes trailed to the side of your face.
The side where a bruise was no doubt developing due to the pain that side of your head was in.
“You aren’t lying.” He said more to himself than you, he ran a hand through his hair before chuckling slightly.
“I’m sorry.” He whispers,
“What?” You ask, he sighed deeply.
The man walked over to you and hugged you tightly.
“It’s gonna be okay now. I got you.” He says, you clammed up in his arms before he pulled away grabbing your wrist.
“Come on imma take you home.” He says gently, you were scared but for some reason you felt as though you could trust him.
So you did.
You followed him back to his house which turned out to be some sort of mansion.
You felt so out of place as you followed the much taller man into the house.
“This place is insane.” You whisper,
“It’s your home. It’s our home.” He whispers in your ear from behind you.
Your turn around to face him still very confused as to who he was or what your relationship with the man was.
“What-.”
“You must be freezing. I’ll send a maid to your room to dress you for bed, you must be exhausted.” He says cutting you off,
“Thank you and yeah, I am. Clothes like these aren’t very fit for freezing rain.” You say slightly gesturing the the shorts and short sleeve shirt you had on.
Why you were even wearing that was a mystery to you.
“Also...Kinda... tantalizing to wear...that around me isn’t it?” He asks cocking his head to the side.
“What?” You ask before looking down at the torn shirt that clung to your body. Not to mention it was practically see through since it was white.
“Deal with it.” You say simply, he chuckles.
“Always the sassy type.” He says, you shrug before an elderly lady came downstairs.
“Hello miss (y/n), please follow me.” She says, you nod and follow her up the stairs.
-After your shower you found yourself sitting on the bed in the pjs playing on the iPad that was left on your dresser. While you tried to distract yourself you couldn’t help to notice how many unanswered questions you had.
So many in fact the lack of answers were putting you off.
There was a knock on your door a few moments later.
“You dressed?” The mans voice asked from the other side,
“Yeah, come in.” You say, he walked into the room looked down that the iPad in your hands.
“I see you like your gifts.” he says. You nod.
“I do thank you for this.” You said before putting the iPad down.
“What?” He asked noticing your resolve.
“I don’t know. All of this feels strange. I still don’t get why you were so upset earlier. Like what did I do?” You ask, he bent done leaning his elbows against the bed before grabbing your hand and kissing it gently.
“I’m sorry I yelled, I wanted to wait until I told you this but your obviously curious so I’ll be honest with you now.
“It’s just your in danger (y/n). People wanna hurt you. We live here in this mansion cause I wanna protect you from everyone who wants to use you, your quirk, your body.” He says sweetly.
“I’m the reason your safe. Everyone wants to hurt you, beautiful.” He whispers softly, as he gentle strokes your cheek.
You feel your eyes swell up, you don’t remember much but his demeanor from earlier completely changed. And you felt...:
Safe.
“W-Why are people after me?” You ask,
“You’re strong and powerful. Everyone wants you to themselves but me...no....no I would never use you like that. That’s why you love me.” He tells you,
“Thank you.” You whisper looking at the much taller man.
“Thank you for what you’ve done for me.” You say genuinely thankful for him.
“Your welcome.” he whispers gently.
“I’m gonna take good care of you from now on. I’ll keep you safe inside this house. I will provide everything we might need.” He tells you before continuing.
“If you need something from the store I’ll have it delivered. If you want your hair done I’ll have someone come over. If you want to have a pool hell, I’ll get you one.”
“There should be no reason why you leave this house ever again .” He says a bit harshly for your taste but you nod anyway.
“Thank you uh...” You say trailing off waiting for him to give you his name.
“You should just call me Deku or Midoriya. You may also call me Izuku when you feel comfortable enough with me to do so. He tells you, you nod and smile at him.
“Thank you Izuku.” You say, he smiled wide.
“Your welcome.” He says before standing up.
“Go to sleep now, you must be exhausted.” He tells you, you yawn in response nodding before lying down, turning on your side and closing your eyes.
After wishing you a good night , Deku closed the door behind him with a shit eating grin stretched across his face. He was overwhelmed with happiness.
“What kind of lucky bastard am I? Poor baby doesn’t remember shit.” He whispered condescendingly as he walked back to his room.
“My dearest (y/n), you really think you could ever run away from me? Think again.”
“I promise to be a real good boy for you though. After all I only hurt you when you defy me. Just keep being my good little angel and everything with me will be fine.” He whispered possessively to himself.
He laughed before going on his computer to watch the video feed of you sleeping peacefully in your new room.
You had no idea about the cameras.
But that shouldn’t upset you right? He’s only watching you cause you broke his trust when you ran away like some abused orphan. It might be invading your privacy watching you like this but who gives a damn.
It’s your fault.
You were his and he wasn’t gonna fuck up like last time.
This was a clean slat.
He had a opportunity of a life time here. And he couldn’t pass it up.
“Yes, I’ll be real good to you my love. Just you wait.” He whispered.
Without knowing you it had walked yourself right back into hell.
With satan himself.

Repercussions (13)
Masterlist
Pairing: dark!Natasha Romanoff x dark!Wanda Maximoff x fem!reader
Summary: Wesley performs at-home surgery on you, and Natasha and Wanda remind you who’s in charge from the other side of the world.
Warnings: dark themes, mentions of stitches, poorly written medical stuff, mild injury, implied nudity, smut 18+ ONLY (cyber sex, implied masturbation and overstimulation, sex toy use and penetration)
A/N: let’s not even talk about the fact that I fully intended on not ending another odd numbered chapter with smut and then did it anyway. but also feel free to thank me, as this is (possibly 👀) the last time I’ll be able to include any smut at all so...
Previous part
-
The ringing of a phone broke the silence of the room, and you groaned against the pillow when you realized it was your iPad. Adjusting the covers and rolling over to one of the nightstands, you attempted to wipe the sleepiness away from your eyes before answering the FaceTime call.
“Printsessa!”
You grinned as Natasha and Wanda appeared on the screen, waving and laughing a bit when they waved back with even bigger smiles.
“The most beautiful women in the world! I see that you’ve landed safely.”
“Yep. Just got in the safe house and this one couldn’t wait to see your face again.” Natasha teasingly nudged Wanda’s shoulder, chuckling when she rolled her eyes and pushed back. “But I’m thinking she’s not the only one missing a girlfriend. Is that my shirt?”
“And Wanda’s scrunchie.” You lifted your wrist for her to see and Wanda cooed at you.
“That’s adorable, baby. So how was yesterday? No trouble with Wesley, right?”
“It’s been incredible! We got to play our favorite card games and watch one of our old shows, and today he’s going to make my favorite omelette!”
“You have a favorite omelette?”
“Wes makes his just like my favorite diner in my hometown. I don’t know how he does it, but it’s amazing every time.” You shrugged, relaxing your shoulders as you exhaled in the form of a happy sigh. “I can’t thank you both enough for bringing him here.”
“We just want to see you happy, printsessa,” Natasha told you with a soft smile that faded as she yawned. “Now if you’ll excuse us, we should get some sleep before we need to get out there in the morning.”
“Wait!” Wanda cut in before you could respond, her lips forming a smirk. “Let us see you.”
You playfully rolled your eyes with a shake of your head before standing up and propping up the iPad against the lamp on the nightstand. Stepping back to bring your full form into the frame, you made a big show of slowly stripping away Natasha’s sleep shirt as they cheered, even louder once they realized you weren’t wearing underwear.
“I kind of regret this now,” Wanda sighed, and you laughed.
“At least you have someone! I just have a room full of fun stuff that I’m not even allowed to use,” you pouted.
“Maybe we’ll change that in a few days. Maybe,” Natasha emphasized when you gasped. “Okay pretty baby, we’ll call again soon.”
“Okay, love you!”
You hung up before either of them could respond, shifting over to Apple music and playing the most rated R and sexual playlist you could find, wanting them to assume you were thinking of them in the shower. You were also hoping it would set the mood, leading them to tire each other out and sleep longer.
You could barely hide the proud smile that appeared on your features when you found out through the bugging device that your plan worked.
“Hey, kiddo!” Wes called as you entered the kitchen, hugging you briefly.
“Hey. Is that what I think it is?”
“You mean the special breakfast you specifically requested and threatened me over?” He raised his eyebrow and faced you as you climbed onto the counter, both of you laughing after a moment. “So how’d it go? Sleeping yet?”
“Like babies. We can head down after we eat.”
-
The two of you made your way to the basement after breakfast, and you led Wesley to the game room first to give him an overly enthusiastic tour of the space, grateful when he caught on fast and played along. You then pulled him away from a pinball machine to bring him to the TV area, pushing him toward the couch as you grabbed the remote from the entertainment area.
“Can’t believe you dangled a pinball game in my face just to snatch it away,” he joked.
“We can go back, dummy. I just had to do that because they know I’m pretty attached to that part of the house,” you told him as you looked for a movie to distract yourself from what was coming, which wasn’t easy with Wesley pulling a satchel of tools from his oversized hoodie in your peripheral vision.
“I know this is not the easiest thing to do, but just relax. I brought some numbing cream to help with the pain.”
You leaned against the armrest of the couch to bring yourself in view of the camera, trying not to react to the coldness of the ointment and really attempting to hold it together when he got started on removing the tracker from your leg.
“Would it be easier to just amputate from the knee down?” you grunted, huffing out a breath when he shook his head. “Yeah, I figured.”
It felt like days passed as you gripped a pillow hard enough to break it to deal with the pain that wasn’t numbed, when your cousin finally broke the silence between the two of you.
“Okay, I’m done. How does it feel?”
“Painful,” you mumbled as you examined your stitched skin. “Damn, you’re good.”
“Thanks.”
Wesley handed you the tiny baggie holding the even smaller tracker, and you slid it in your pocket. He moved to get up and you stopped him.
“Where are you going? Let’s finish the movie.”
“Not ready to walk, are you?” You shook your head this time and he laughed.
When it ended, the two of you made your way back to the game room, choosing one of the racing games so you didn’t have to stand very long. After he beat you in a few races (quite easily, but you wouldn’t admit it to him), you made your way back upstairs to grab a football and head outside.
You were able to walk pretty normally and even lightly jog, but you were dying to relieve the burning patch of healing skin, so you staged a fall as quickly as you could without seeming suspicious. Wesley fussed over you appropriately, helping you into the house to the point of halfway carrying you, and you sighed in relief when you finally got an ice pack on your ankle.
“I’ve never seen someone so happy to fall.”
“Shut up.”
-
It was nearing midnight when you heard from your girlfriends again, being sure to hold an excited smile on your features as you answered the call.
“Good morning! Or is it afternoon?”
“Late afternoon going into early evening but who cares?” Wanda shrugged with a little laugh.
“What are you doing up so late, printsessa?”
“It’s only 11:58,” you replied after checking the time. “And I was hoping you’d call tonight.”
Natasha frowned at the sight of your pout. “Did something happen with Wesley?”
“Yes, but it’s not his fault. I fell in the yard and hurt my ankle, but he helped me inside and keep ice on it all day. He even helped me up here so I didn’t have to strain much on the stairs.”
“Oh baby, you gotta be careful.”
“I know, Wan, I’m sorry.” Your eyes watered a bit while your pout stayed. “I feel a lot better, though! I just wish it didn’t happen. I have so much energy right now and nothing to do with it.”
You frowned when Natasha and Wanda shared a prolonged look, sighing a little so they’d turn their attention back to you. Wanda offered you a smile while Natasha seemed to be doing something in her lap, and she nodded at Wanda before turning to face you again.
“What’s going on?”
“We think we have a way for you to burn all that energy,” Natasha told you while Wanda sat beside her looking like a kid in a candy store. “Check the nightstand on your right.”
You moved over to investigate, pulling the drawer open and frowned when you only spotted a small key, picking it up with a curious gaze.
“It’s just a...wait.” You picked up the iPad with wide eyes. “Is this to the special room?”
Natasha nodded and you squealed in excitement, jumping to your feet and making sure to wince a bit when your left foot made contact with the carpet.
“Careful baby, please!” Wanda begged. “You’re going to give us a heart attack.”
“Sorry!”
You made your way down the hall and unlocked the door, stepping in and closing and locking the door behind you as they instructed. The iPad was placed in their preferred spot so they could watch you strip again before telling you exactly what to pick out. Their object of choice was a big, sparkly dildo meant to be attached to a flat surface, the headboard of a king sized bed in this case.
“This one is kinda big,” you remarked as you knelt beside the dildo to examine the length.
“But baby,” Natasha began with a falsely sweet tone that you’d grown accustomed to hearing in the bedroom, one that had you squeezing your thighs together immediately. “Don’t you want to be good for us?”
“Yes, I do.”
“Good girls listen. Are you a good girl?”
“Yes, Natty.”
“Then you can take it.”
You took a deep breath and positioned yourself, reaching for your clit between your parted legs and trying not to gasp in reaction to what you felt.
“You’re already soaked, aren’t you baby?”
You nodded and closed your eyes as you kept working your middle finger across the sensitive nub, slowly backing up onto the erect length and whimpering as it filled you up.
“That’s it, baby,” Wanda called out breathily, and you didn’t even need to raise your head to know she was touching herself, as was Natasha. “You’re so good at this.”
You paused for a moment when your ass bumped into the headboard, giving yourself time to adjust to being stretched open like this on your own. Pulling your hand away to rest both of them on the bed in front of you for support, you glanced at the iPad to see both of them watching you, and you stifled the moan that left you when you realized they were getting each other off.
“Like what you see, baby?” You nodded in response, your eyes glued to their crossed arms just barely moving. “Then get going, or we’ll turn the camera off.”
You began to move your hips in a slow back-and-forth motion, hissing and moaning each time the toy hit a spot that one of your girlfriends usually got for you.
“Faster.”
You obeyed immediately, gradually speeding up to a pace that had the bed shaking a bit under your movements, but you couldn’t find it in you to care about the safety of it all when you were this close to the edge. Your climax came faster than you expected and you managed to keep somewhat of a rhythm through it, slumping forward and panting as you came down.
“Again.” You looked to the screen in disbelief, biting your lip when you noticed Wanda’s head thrown back, her hands holding onto Natasha’s arm that seemed to move much faster now. “I didn’t stutter. Fuck yourself again.”
So you did, and another time and another time until you finally tapped out, sliding away from the toy and falling forward onto the bed. You lifted your head to see your fully naked girlfriends smiling at you, each of them a bit flushed from their own activity as they watched you.
“You were such a good girl tonight,” Wanda praised, smiling when you simply whimpered in response. “I can’t wait to get back there and fuck you myself.”
“Goodnight, baby. We love you.”
The call ended as you rolled onto your back to catch your breath for a moment. When your legs were no longer shaking uncontrollably, you stood up the best you could and grabbed the dildo after slipping on a robe, dropping it onto your pile of clothes as you grabbed that too. Once you were back in the shared room and the toy was cleaned, you slipped it into the bag you’d hidden in the closet. You were going to miss sex with them, and something had to take their place.

———————————————————————
“Charlotte, what do you think of this one?” Ina angles her tablet towards her niece to show her (yet another) birthday cake design. Ina really wanted her niece’s upcoming birthday to be special, so everything had to be perfect. Charlotte, who’s too engrossed in the video on her own tablet, doesn’t turn to look at the cake on Ina’s screen. Ina sighs and in that same moment, Bea walks in
She places a kiss on Ina’s cheek before settling beside her on the sofa
“What’s the matter babe?”
“I’m trying to find the right cake for Charlotte but she’s too busy watching that damn ipad all the time” Ina inclines her head towards her niece, who has yet to look up at either woman. Bea grins at Ina before turning to face Charlotte
“Hey Charlotte, whatcha watching there?” Charlotte snaps her head up at Bea’s question, a look of excitement in her eyes
“I’m watching V do makeup!” she pats the open space beside her
“Come watch with me” Ina raises her eyebrows at Bea, clearly impressed at how quickly she got Charlotte’s attention. Bea winks at her before sitting beside the young girl
“So what’s going on in the video?” Charlotte points at different parts of the screen as she begins to explain to Bea
“V used this one all over her face, and this one is for her cheekbones” There is an array of different powders on Veronica’s desk, each one inscribed with fancy gold lettering. Several brushes litter the desk but there’s surprisingly little mess
“That’s highlighter that she’s putting on, right?” Charlotte nods enthusiastically and the pair continue to watch as Veronica expertly applies the makeup with precision, commenting on how the highlighter enhances her bone structure and gives her a ‘dewy glow’.
“You should see how she puts makeup on in real life, she’s so much quicker than that” Charlotte’s eyes widen as she turns to face Bea
“You’ve watched her do makeup?” Bea chuckles at the excitement in Charlotte’s eyes
“Yeah of course! Me and Veronica are good friends” (well, good might be a bit of an overstatement. But they knew each other at least.)
“Woah, that’s so cool. I wish I was her friend” Charlotte turns back to the screen and continues watching the makeup tutorial. Meanwhile, an idea starts to form in Bea’s mind…
———————————————————————
“What did you say her name was, again?” Veronica doesn’t even bother to look up from her phone as she (half)listens to what Bea is saying
“I already told you, her name’s Charlotte, she’s Ina’s niece and she’s legit your biggest fan” Bea snatches the phone from Veronica’s grasp
“Hey!” Veronica reaches out for the phone but Bea holds her empty hand out to stop her from getting closer
“So, will you do it or not?” Veronica rolls her eyes as she let’s her hands drop to her sides
“Fine, I’ll spend a couple hours with the kid. Can I have my phone back now please?” Bea hands Veronica her phone back before texting Ina to tell her that the plan is successful
On the day of Charlotte’s birthday, the trio consisting of Bea, Ina and Charlotte wait outside the door of the sorority. Bea has just sent Veronica a text

where r u?

dramatic hoe 🙄
After a few moments, Veronica opens the door with a huge smile on her face (it’s so wide it almost looks painful)
“Hey there Charlotte. Happy birthday!” Veronica’s voice sounds unusually chipper and Bea figures it must be another part of her streaming persona
Charlotte rushes forwards and gives Veronica a hug, her head only reaching halfway up the tall woman’s body. She freezes momentarily before quickly returning the embrace
“I love watching your makeup videos!” Veronica chuckles at the enthusiasm in the little girl’s voice as she disentangles herself from the hug
“A little birdie told me that you’re my biggest fan” Charlotte nods her head excitedly
“It’s true! I watched all your videos”
“Well how would you like to be in one of the videos?” Charlotte whips her head around to plead with Ina and she clasps her hands together
“Please can I be in the video aunty Ina? Pleaseeeee” The adults all chuckle at Charlotte’s pleading
“I don’t see why not. Your mother said it was okay” Charlotte exclaims her thanks as the three of them follow Veronica into the sorority house
She leads them into the luxurious kitchen area where an assortment of makeup is already laid out on the counter. A tripod is set up nearby, as are several ring lights which are scattered throughout the room. Veronica helps Charlotte up onto the chair next to the makeup supplies. Meanwhile Ina and Bea situate themselves on the far side of the room, giving plenty of space for Veronica to work her magic
As Veronica runs through everything with Charlotte, Ina leans close to Bea
“Thank you for arranging this Bea. Charlotte will never forget this birthday”
“Don’t mention it, she deserves something special” Ina gently tucks a strand of hair behind Bea’s ear, running the back of her fingers down her face
“I still think you deserve a thanks” Ina leans forwards to kiss Bea but the pair are startled apart by someone clearing their throat
“Ahem, break it up lovebirds. Filming is about to begin”
Veronica hits play on her phone and launches into her trademark intro. She then angles the camera towards Charlotte, who’s fidgeting in the chair, almost unable to contain her excitement
“We have a very special guest today, everyone say hi to Charlotte!” Hundreds of messages immediately flood the screen, all of Veronica’s followers greeting her
“Today is Charlotte’s birthday, so we’re going to give her a super special birthday makeover!” Veronica sets the camera up on the tripod before beginning her makeover of the birthday girl
Once Ina is satisfied that Charlotte is in good hands, the pair creep out of the room to wait in the foyer of the sorority house. They sit down on a plush sofa with their hands intertwined
“I can’t wait to see how it’ll turn out” Bea rests her head on Ina’s shoulder
“Me either” Ina traces circles on the back of Bea’s hand with her thumb before pulling her hand up to her mouth to place a delicate kiss on her girlfriend’s knuckles
“What was that for?” Ina shrugs
“Just a hint of the thank you that you’ll be receiving later” Bea’s cheeks flush at the meaning of Ina’s sentence and she cannot find the words to reply so instead she snuggles further into her
The pair lapse into comfortable silence which is interrupted occasionally by the sounds of laughter coming from both Charlotte and Veronica in the kitchen. After a while, Veronica leaves the room to retrieve the couple on the sofa
“God you guys are so loved up that it makes me feel sick” Bea rolls her eyes as she separates from the professor
“Don’t be jealous V” Veronica flushes at Bea’s words but she doesn’t say anything else on the matter
“I finished the stream, come and see the work I did on the kid” When the pair re-enter the kitchen they are shocked at the mess they find. Powders seem to have exploded on every surface which was the opposite of Veronica’s usual neatness. Bea expects Veronica to be angry but the only expression on her face is one of joy
“Wow charlotte, you look amazing!” Bea high fives the child who now has a light covering of makeup. The eyeshadow is glittery and pastel coloured and even more glitter covers her cheekbones
“Yeah, the viewers all said the same thing” Veronica helps Charlotte down from the chair and she skips away with Ina trailing behind her
Veronica crosses her arms as she examines the cuticles of her nails
“So you’re bringing the kid over again, right?” Bea smirks at Veronica
“Aw, you actually enjoyed hanging out with her didn’t you?” Veronica rolls her eyes but doesn’t deny the fun she had
“Whatever. She’s good for views. The fans loved her” She turns around to begin cleaning up the mess on the kitchen counter
“See you around Bea” Bea takes this as her cue to leave and she joins the pair in the foyer who are talking animatedly about the stream
“...and then she finally sprayed this stuff all over my face so that the makeup will stay for the whole day!” Ina widens her eyes in a exaggerated expression of amazement
“Wow, that’s amazing! and a good thing too because we have so much more planned for your birthday”
“This has already been the best birthday ever, I’m so excited for what’s next”

The Mission // Spencer Reid x Reader
Sooooo this was SUPPOSE to be a blurb for @andiebeaword BUT it ended up being much longer than that, my bad.
Summary - Spencer and Reader must act like a married couple at a party in order to get information on a hitman. They may do more than needed to prove being a married couple.
Word count - 2.7k
Prompts - "If we die, I'm going to kill you." ~~~ "You have a dirty mind." ~~~ "These heels are peeling off my **skin**. But yes, keep complaining about your tag you whine ass." ~~~ "Wow, I can't imagine being that rich! How old are his kids, maybe I can date one."
Tumblr media
It was a well-known fact that I loved partnering with Spencer. We could always joke around and make eachother feel better, even when working the bad cases. But I feel like this was a little ridiculous.
"Are you shitting me?" The words slipped from my mouth so easily, which I immediatly regretted. Spencer gave me *the look* and elbowed my side.
"I'm sorry Y/n, you and Spencer are the two people who are the most compatible to seem like a couple, and we need hard proof before we arrest him." Hotch explained with his usual amount of enthusiasm.
None.
"Hotch, this guy is dangerous and we will be in there without vests, is what I believe y/n is trying to say." Spencer leaned back in his seat, flipping through the mans file.
"We will have sharp-shooters pointing through every window at him in case anything gets out of hand. This is non negotiable." And with that, he left.
"Well, clearly we have no choice." I stood from my seat, flattening my skirt. "I'm gonna go home and get an outfit ready. You aren't wearing that to the party either." I pointed to his outfit.
"What's wrong with my outfit?!" He scoffed, hugging his sweater vest.
"Okay, one, this isn't some dingy hole in the wall. And two, even if it was, you don't go to a nice party looking like someone who has 3 PhD's in the first place." The smirk on my lips grew wider as he feigned offense.
"Fine, I'll find something nicer to wear. I'll pick you up at 7 and tell the team to meet us there." I agreed and left the conference room a little grumpy, quickly making a bee line to the elevator before anyone could comment on my mood.
-
I stared at the 3 dresses in front of me. They were all the same style, but different colors.
White, yellow, and olive green.
I wasn't sure why I was having so much trouble picking a *color*. I always say that I dress for myself, which is what I was trying to do right now.
Right?
I totally wasn't thinking back to that conversation I had with Spencer a few weeks ago.
-
*"Y/n!" Emily looked at me with surprise. "You look so beautiful in white! Why don't you wear it more?" She was right, I never wore it. Me and Penelope were pretty known for wearing many colors, mine just had to be paired with a black skirt.*
*"I'm so clumsy." I laughed. "I live in constant fear that I'll spill coffee on it. Hence why I'm not holding a cup of joe."*
*"I agree with Emily, you look nice in white." Spencer chimed in. "You know the psychological meaning of white is purity, innocence, wholeness and completion. In color psychology, white is the color of new beginnings, of wiping the slate clean, so to speak." He then took a sip of his coffee.*
*"Yeah well I don't know about the innocent part." I giggled, looking to Emily who gave me a shrug and nod. Spencer choked a bit on his coffee. "You alright there Spence?" He saluted me and headed to his desk, which put me and Emily into a fit of giggles.*
-
I reluctantly grabbed the white one, silently hoping that I was less of a klutz tonight.
The satin dress slipped on me easily. It came down to about 2 or so inches above my knees and had thin straps. I paired it with some semi-transparent heels and called it a day. I put on a little heavier makeup to look the part. Foundation, winged eyeliner, blush, highlight, and mascara. Lastly, I tied my hair up in a simple straightened pony-tail.
By the time my indecisive ass was done choosing everything, it was nearly 7 and I knew that Spence would be early. My heels clicked as I walked on my wood floors, heading to the front door. Getting there just in time to hear a knock. I must have startled him by opening it so fast because he stumbled back a bit. He wore a nice white button up and tighter pants than usual, paired with nice black oxfords.
And then he just stood there.
I waved my hand in front of his face.
"Hi!" He shook his head a bit. "Hello there, back to Earth I see. Do you wanna come in and have a glass of water before this whole event, since you are," I leaned back into my doorway to look at the time. "12 minutes early?"
"Oh, yeah sure." I cleared the way so he could walk in. I shook the heels from my feet, taking me down at least three inches before stepping into the kitchen. I grabbed two glasses.
"Do you want ice?" I turned to him, he was sitting at my island. He just shook his head. "Okay." I laughed, putting ice in mine and just filling his with water. The glass clinked as it hit the island in front of him. "You're pretty quiet, are you okay?" The tips of his ears reddened.
"Yeah! I'm just a little nervous, you?" He swiftly brought the water to his lips, guzzling it down like he hadn't drank anything in days. He then stood up.
"Of course I'm nervous." I came around to his side of the counter and swooned into his arms. "But I'll have a great protector there." He smiled down at me with a shake of his head, standing me back up.
Now it's time to head out.
-
We pulled up to the location in Spencer's Volvo, which was incredibly nice to ride in. ~~and I would love to get use to riding in it~~.
"Okay, I have one thing to fix with your outfit." I turned to him before we exited the car. His eyes narrowed at this comment. I leaned forward and unbuttoned two buttons. "Now you look like your going to a party."
"Thank you expert. Stay in the car, I'm going to open your door, the bouncer works with him and we have to go all out on this act." He nodded his head at the bouncer a few yards away.
I wish this wasn't an act.
He opened the door, offering his hand. I took it with a gracious smile, interlacing our fingers. We walked up to the bouncer, who had an ipad with the guest list in hand. Penelope had hacked into their list and added our names, well fake names.
"Mr and Mrs. Adler." Spencer spoke as I leaned into his side. The man scrolled through the list, he tapped our names and opened the door.
It opened to a large room, filled with dozens of people. I leaned up on my tippy toes and whispered into Spencer's ear.
"If we die, I'm going to kill you." I pulled away with a smile, patting his shoulder. His Adam's apple bobbed while he gulped. "So, what's this guys networth, I mean he seems pretty damn rich to throw a party like this." He looked down at me quizzically. "I know you know what it is, I'm sure you have researched him extensively. So what is it?"
"6.2 million dollars." He recited, looking towards the crowd, scanning for the man in question.
"Wow, I can't imagine being that rich! How old are his kids, maybe I can date one."
"Be careful what you say, someone might think we are suspicious." He pulled me into his side, kissing the top of my head.
This night is going to be agonizing. "There he is." We made our way to him slowly, stopping at small drink stations. Just as we were about to get to some seats near him, a server came up to us.
"Hello! Welcome. Would you guys like anything?" She handed Spencer a very small menu. I could see the slight confusion in his eyes. It was truly a weird thing to do at such a big party.
*Salad*
*Potato Soup*
*Fruit Bowl*
*Veggie Bowl*
"I'll have a salad, and the lady will have a fruit bowl." He pointed to the seats we were on our way to. "We will be over there. Thank you." He put his hand on the small of my back, leading us to the seats.
"How did you know I wanted a fruit bowl?"
"You bring some kind of fruit cup to work every day, I'm observant." Right as we were about to sit down, another couple took the seats, not even noticing that we were heading there.
"Well damn. I say we stand next to his table until our food gets here, then we go to the other corner of the room and observe, then we catch him making the deal." I led him to the space by the table. After just a few minutes of waiting, the young lady who took our orders he returned, holding a small bowl of salad and a fruit bowl.
"Have a good night!" She chimed, how can someone be so happy with so many people around?
We ventured to the other side of the room, I grabbed two glasses of champagne from another server on the way. I peered at Spencer over the skinny glass, he was staring at his salad.
"What, is there something wrong?"
"Why is there so much white stuff on it? It's not ranch, I know what ranch looks like." My giggle was muffled slightly by the glass.
"That's what she said." He raised one eyebrow. Then a look of realization came over his face.
"You have a dirty mind." He mixed together the salad to distribute the 'white stuff'. We subtly stared every once in a while over at the mans table.
His name was Anton Todd, but his customers called him Ton. He was someone who frequently assassinated people. He was a hitman to be exact. We had an outside source tell us that a new customer would be coming in to request business, so we could kill two birds with one stone.
So far the man we knew as Cole Kamargo had not come to ask for Antons *services* yet. We had been standing in this corner of the room for a while, just watching him. That's when I caught his eye.
His gaze was terrifying, it struck me right through my soul, and I just couldn't stop looking. He squinted at me, tilting his head. Spencer shook my shoulder.
"Y/n, stop staring at him." It was like being lost in someone's eyes in the worst way possible. I watched as he stood from the table, making his way over with a sour look on his face.
"Shit shit shit shit." I mumbled as he got closer.
"Shit is right. Do you trust me?" I kept my eyes on the man.
"Of course." He grabbed my hips, pushing me against the wall behind us and kissed me hard. He trailed his left hand up to the back of my neck, holding me there. I gasped in surprise, leading him to slip his tongue in my mouth. Meaning we were full on making out. I pushed my hands into his hair, gladly accepting the kiss and sighing into it. Suddenly, Spencer was pulled from me. And there he stood.
Anton.
"Tell your girl to stop fuckin' staring at me." He spat, glaring at me.
"Sorry sir, my wife has ADHD, she zones out frequently." He rushed to my side and pulled me into his side protectively. Anton rolled his eyes and left the area.
I looked up at Spencer, his cheeks were a deep shade of red, and he was touching his lips.
"Thank you. Also, you're a good kisser." I remarked, nudging his side a bit. He looked down at me with wide eyes. "What? Am I not allowed to compliment your kissing? It's good!" I laughed heartily, looping my arm into his.
"Ditto." A smile grew on his lips. I could get use to this. Spencer noticed an available seat near us, so he sat patting his lap.
"Excuse me?"
"Come sit on my lap!" He chuckled.
"I'm glad your getting use to the idea of me being your *wife*." I sat on his lap, leaning my head back onto his shoulder. My hands made their way to the heel of my foot, slightly slipping my shoe off. "These heels are from Satan I think." I rubbed at the sore skin.
"My tag is itchy." Spencer pulled at his collar, relieving the so called *itch*.
"These heels are peeling off my **skin**. But yes, keep complaining about your tag you whine ass." He turned his head to me, kissing my cheek.
"I'm sorry, I can put some neosporin on it when we get home. I mean, when we get-get you home." He stuttered, the tips of his ears once again turning an extravagant shade of red. I kissed his jaw.
"Thank you *baby*." We were then interrupted by a woman next to us.
"How long have you guys been married?" The lady leaned over the booth, a ring was clearly shown on her finger.
"8 years." I answered quickly, before Spencer could say a contradicting answer.
"Wow! You guys look so young to be together so long. How do you guys keep it so... so beautiful?" She tilted her head at the question.
"What do you mean?" I asked, reaching my hand into Spencer's hair and playing with it momentarily.
"You seem so in love. You act like teenagers, I don't think I've looked that in love with my husband since we first met." She huffed.
"You just have to find someone who's easy to love." He leaned his head on mine. "I've never had a doubt in my mind that she was the one." The words stuck with me, I felt like they would be embedded in my soul for eternity.
"I think I need to get a divorce." She sunk into the seat, I watched as her husband come back and sat with her, she gave him a weak smile.
"Okay, we need to leave this area before we become homewreckers." I whispered, pulling him to his feet and fleeing into another direction. "We must be amazing actors." I laughed nervously.
"Yeah, actors." He murmered, but before I could comment on it, I saw Cole making his way to Anton.
"Spencer! It's Cole!" I screeched quietly. We discreetly made our way near the table, quickly catching the conversation and relaying it to Hotch.
Cole spoke of the horrible things he wanted done to his wife, it made me sick.
"FBI, get on the ground!" I pulled my gun from the left holster that Spencer had for me. I couldn't exactly *hide* a gun on this white dress. Spencer pulled his gun as well.
"We have you surrounded by sharpshooters aimed and ready to fire, so I suggest that you comply." Morgan came in soon, cuffing the both of them and leading the men to cars.
We now remained outside, sitting on the stairs of the large building.
"I enjoyed being your husband for a night." Spencer laughed, nudging my shoulder.
"And I enjoyed being your wife." I played with the fake ring on my finger. "Okay. Fuck it. Did you mean any of the things you said in there?" The words spat from my mouth quickly.
"Like what?" His voice was shaky.
"Like, that you never had a doubt that I was the one. Or was that part of the act. I would totally understand if it was, you're an amazing actor if it was because it honestly had me believing-" He put his finger to my lips.
"Yes, I meant it."
"Thank God." I grabbed his jaw with both hands and brought him to my lips. He smiled into the kiss, deepening it. His hands ran up and down my back slowly.
"I wouldn't mind doing this every day." He remarked, gesturing between our lips.
"I wouldn't either pretty boy."

The Lucky Australian
~~ 7 Almost~~
I wouldn't know where to start
"Sweet Music" playing "In The Dark"
Be still "My Foolish Heart, "
Don't ruin this on me
It had been a few days, and even though he had tried to keep himself busy, she was always floating around his mind.
It didn’t help him that whenever his phone would buzz he was always hoping it was from her, he’d been disappointed to notice that she hadn’t messaged him as much as he had hoped. There had been a few selfies and an occasional funny text through, he knew she was seeing a few friends and doing all the touristy stuff, but he had still wanted all more attention form her.
Henry couldn’t work it out, was she apprehensive to contact him more? Was she trying to play it cool? Logically, he knew that she was just enjoying her time in London, and he had no right to demand all her time, but still…he had just wanted her.
He had spent his day gaming, broken up by hanging out with kal when Charlie called, with nothing better to do and not hearing from Aurora for a few hours, he found himself at the pub. The warm summer air lifting his mood as he and his brother downed a few pints and surveyed their surroundings.
“You looking for anyone in particular?” Charlie whispered.
Henry sighed and put down his beer
“No. Not really”
Silence filled the space between them.
“Henry, what’s wrong?” Charlie sighed
Henry shifted in his seat, unsure of how to explain to his brother that he missed a woman that he had only known for days. How he wanted to be greedy with her time but not smother her, how he wished that every time his phone buzzed he was hoping it was her. How, he wanted to know every part of her mind, body and soul. He wanted her completely, but what if it was only lust on his part? What if it was only just a fire and no slow burn…The many what if’s were enough to drive him crazy.
“How did you know Heather was the one?” Henry asked, the question even surprising himself.
Charlie let out a breath and twirled his glass in his hand.
“I don’t know how to answer that one Henry. I guess for me, it was just an instant click, my head and my heart were in perfect unison at the time, I had that little voice that just told me this was it” he shrugged.
“You moved your whole life to Canada, weren’t you scared?”
“I was terrified, but the overwhelming feeling I had was that when I was with her there was no place I’d rather be, and that I’d be ok, no matter what happens”
Henry looked down at his glass.
“Is this about a certain Australian you met a few days ago?”
Henry looked up at Charlie and nodded, his insecurity and worry must’ve been plastered all over his face as Charlie’s features softened in response.
“It’s just…I only spent a few hours alone with her after we were at the pub, and the next day and no, we didn’t have sex Charlie”
“I wasn’t asking”
“You were thinking it”
“Thought never crossed my mind. Continue…”
Sometimes Charlie really knew how to get under his skin and piss him off, Henry couldn’t blame him, having siblings meant never being able to get away with anything.
“I had a really great time with her, it just felt like everything fell into place. She said she would call me in a few days because she was meeting up with friends and sightseeing, and I’m a rational man, I get that Charlie, I do. Its just…I want all her time, I want to be with her, I want to talk to her, I want to message her all the time, I want to know her, I want to be in the same space as her. I know I shouldn’t be demanding of all her attention, but every time the damn phone buzzes I hope its her, and I cant fathom for the life of me why she isn’t messaging me all the time or talking to me”
Charlie hadn’t stopped looking at Henry. Henry continued.
“I know, like I fucking know that she’s just with friends, but the other part of me keeps questioning, why isn’t she calling me? Is it too much, too fast for her? Is she not as interested as I thought she was? What if me being me is too much for her? What if its just lust? What if she’s not over her ex?”
“Her ex?”
Henry sighed and rubbed his eyes
“They were together up until 3 years ago, whatever happened she still has nightmares about”
“Whoa Henry, what-“
“Charlie, I don’t know. Aurora said it was a great relationship and it ended. I only found out after she told me because her friends imessages were popping up on her ipad, she said she would tell me later”
Charlie stretched his arms out in front of him.
“That’s a bit of a red flag”
“Yeah, but I cant force anything out of her” Henry growled in frustration.
Charlie didn’t miss the anger, he didn’t miss the hurt or the confusion that draped itself over Henry. Picking his words carefully, he continued.
“Henry, from what you have said already, I think you really like this girl, hell, you might even love her at this point and you don’t know. You have never spoken about any other women you’ve dated or seen, like you have Aurora and you’ve only known her a few days. I think, this is something worth trying for. I think she might be it for you, but you’ve only just net her, you cant demand everything now, no matter how hard you want it. That’s the thing with love and all that shit. It’s irrational, its intense and it doesn’t make sense. Be open, communicate and be honest, that’s all you can do. You will both navigate anything else that comes your way.”
Henry looked up at Charlie, he always had this way of being right about everything. Maybe he was right, maybe all those feelings he was having were a precursor to something deeper that he cant explain, maybe his heart knows before the path is laid out.
“Henry, why don’t you message her and ask her to meet you? Even if she’s already busy with friends, she would make time for you”
He looked at Charlie and back at his beer, he pulled his phone out of his pocket and just stared at it.
He heard Charlie sigh.
“I’ll get more drinks while your compose your sonnet” He laughed, making his way to the bar.
Henry ran a hand over his face and started typing out a message.
~~~~~~~~
“So, its 3pm, I’m going to start getting ready. We’re meeting at her place for pre drinks, then onwards to this gay bar she said I would like” Raphi said as he looked over at Aurora
“Does that mean its time for my boots Raphi?”
“Bitch, its always time for them boots. First though, I’m using the shower.” Raphi grabbed a towel and moved to the bathroom.
The past few days she had been shopping with Nate and his husband, she had travelled up to leeds to see an old friend and then went all the way down to bath to see an old work colleague. Never mind in between all that, partying with Raphi and Hanhan. She was glad for the few days she would have alone in Italy coming up. Even then, she would be visiting family. Holidays are supposed to be relaxing, she thought to herself.
She picked up her phone, wondering if she should message Henry. She had spoken to him on and off, but didn’t want to bombard him with unwanted messages, especially if he had changed his mind. He had still seemed interested but she didn’t want to push it, not to mention she had been seeing friends, which was a welcome excuse to try and get her mind off a certain brown haired, blue eyed Adonis. Dating was a lot much harder than she remembered
Suddenly, her phone buzzed in her hand, her face lighting up seeing is name on her screen.
Hey, this seems incredibly stupid, but…I really enjoyed my time with you. Wondering if you’re free tonight? Maybe we could catch up?
She started her reply, yelling questions through the bathroom door to Raphi. As she was halfway through, another message popped up.
I miss your company.
Her heart melted a little.
I’ll come meet you for a drink, I wont be able to spend as much time as I want with you, I’m being dragged to a club. I miss your company too.
Short and to the point. Mere seconds later, Henry replied.
Same pub we met at? What time?
She smiled, replying as fast as possible before throwing down her phone and getting her boots on.
~~~~~~~~
Charlie watched Henry as he continued to throw glances towards the pub door.
It had been 3 hours since Aurora said she would meet him. As it neared 6pm, Henry started getting nervous, bouncing his leg up and down under the table, not focusing on conversations and forever checking his watch. Charlie smiled into his beer as he took another sip. He remembered those butterflies and those nerves.
Charlie was able to distract Henry for a few minutes when something caught his eye, he looked up and the first thing he saw were boots, followed by Aurora, he snuck a glance back to Henry who hadn’t noticed her yet. Charlie looked back at Aurora as her eyes found them in the pub, she smiled and made her way over to them as Charlie kicked Henry under the table. He looked up, startled and then looked to where Charlie was pointing. Charlie knew the moment Henry laid eyes on Aurora, he was in trouble.
Henry’s mouth fell open as she came toward him. She was wearing all black jeans with a black top, her outfit simply hugging every curve of her body, but the standout feature was the thigh high boots she was wearing.
They were covered in silver rhinestones. This woman knew how to make an entrance.
Henry was still stuck to his chair when she walked up behind him and wrapped her arms around his neck. Sliding into the spot next to him he didn’t notice her friends following her and seating themselves at the table.
Henry was silent, just staring at her. All the sounds around him evaporating as he took all of her in.
“I’ll shout you guys a round before we have to go.” She laughed. Henry looked at her and was silent for a moment just staring at her until Charlie broke his silence when he spoke to her. Suddenly, the world came crashing back into Henry, the sounds of the pub, the warmth of Aurora next to him and the smell of the perfume she wore invading all his senses.
She laughed at something Raphi said. Henry looked at her, his hands itching to touch her in some way. Slowly, pretending to be interested in a ring she wore, he reached out for her hand, and just held it, not wanting to let go.
Charlie observed them while the rest of the group entertained themselves. Aurora, talking and joking with her friends, for the most part didn’t seemed fazed at all by Henry's need for closeness. It almost came natural to her that she expected Henry wanted to that contact. Everything about her demeanour and her body language seemed so relaxed, like this relationship had existed for years rather than days. Henry on the other hand, seemed hyper aware of every movement and touch of Aurora’s, his nervousness and almost giddy appearance that he was in the same space with as well as the physical contact of the woman he was infatuated with, betrayed his usual tough looking exterior. Basically, he became a big teddy bear.
After what only seemed like a few minutes to Henry, Aurora and her friends announced their departure. Their excitement and slight buzz from the few shots they downed evident on their faces as they got up to leave, ready for the night ahead. Noting it was only 8pm, Henry felt cheated those 2 hours had flown by, and became a little depressed at the thought of her leaving.
Aurora looked Henry.
“If I survive tonight, I promise I will call you tomorrow and we’ll go on a proper date!” she smiled
“Bitch, what do you mean if you survive tonight? You’re getting as fucked up as us!” Hanhan laughed at her.
“Listen I’m going to be the most sober one there, god knows this one wont bend over the toilet bowl to throw up” She pointed at Raphi with her voice taking on a slight Italian accent, hands moving with every word.
“There we go, there’s the Italian!” Raphi yelled over his shoulder, making his way out of the pub. Aurora laughed.
“I better be getting chicken nuggets at the end of this night is all I’m saying” Aurora leaned down to kiss Henry goodbye like it was the most normal thing in the world and walked out of the pub following Hanhan and Raphi.
Charlie looked over at Henry watching her go. He knew, in that moment, that Henry would be spending the rest of his life with Aurora.

CHAPTER SEVENTEEN
“Where the hell are you taking us, Lizzy?”
Elizabeth giggled, skipping down the streets of LA with Harry smiling in tow. Even on a Monday night there were a decent amount of people out, but everyone was too into themselves to pay much attention to a passerby. There were the occasional head turns, but nothing long-lasting. She had stopped in front of an ice cream parlor, grinning like a child and bouncing on her toes.
“Is this our next stop?” Harry questioned, pulling his wallet out of his pocket.
“First of all, put that away, it’s my turn now” Elizabeth said, pushing his hand with his wallet down, “And yes, I want a milkshake. So move it or lose it.”
He laughed, “Alright, yeah, a swirl cone sounds pretty good,” pulling the door open for her and watched as she skipped to the back of the line.
There were a half dozen customers inside and it seemed like within seconds they realized Harry Styles was in the same building as them because what at first seemed like just innocent glances at the two of them turned into people practically surrounding him. She suddenly started feeling a bit unnerved. How could she have forgotten so easily that they can’t just go into an ice cream parlor? What if there were pictures? What if the press had found out they were on a date? That after days of him adamantly denying that he had no romantic interest in ‘the woman in the pictures’, there could now be picture or video proof of his deceits. What would that mean for her job? She had heard horror stories before of people getting into relationships with celebrities and fans finding out where they worked, harassing the company and making them lose their jobs. Could that happen to her?
Elizabeth slipped away from the crowd. Now that the line was no longer interested in ordering their ice cream, the counter was free. She stepped up to the worker and smiled nicely, “Hi, can I please have a medium chocolate milkshake, and a medium chocolate and vanilla swirl on a cone?”
“Of course, is that all?” The teenage girl asked, glancing between her and the crowd surrounding Harry.
“Yes, thank you,” Elizabeth handed her some cash and waited at the end of the counter for their ice cream, arms crossed tightly into her chest nervously watching as Harry did his best to say hi to everyone and take pictures. He heard a few of the girls mention her and ask who she was, but he did his best to avoid the question. Elizabeth decided at that moment that she was going to stop being so damn scared of consequences. She is a 26 year old woman with a fantastic job, in an entirely different country, who just got out of a toxic three year relationship and was able to afford to move out by herself into a comfortable house, on a date with someone she’s known practically her whole life. If he wasn’t overly concerned with them being photographed, she wasn’t going to, either. Judy was right, she needed to learn how to live a little.
The worker had handed her the ice creams and Elizabeth waved at Harry to get his attention. He quickly and politely excused himself from the group before shuffling over to Elizabeth, grabbing his cone and following her out the door. Luckily no one had followed him out of the ice cream parlor.
“In hindsight, that wasn’t my best idea,” Elizabeth sipped her milkshake as they continued down the street.
Harry laughed, licking up the side of his ice cream cone, “Not the most subtle part of our date, no. Anything else you have planned?” Elizabeth stopped walking and grinned between Harry and the storefront next to her, seeing the realization form in Harry’s eyes. “You’re kidding,” he smirked.
“I’m not.”
“Are you getting one?”
“We’re both getting one! That’s the point!” Elizabeth laughed.
Harry stared between her and the tattoo shop before shaking his head with a look of astonishment, “This will be your first tattoo.”
“This is a week of firsts for me. Why not keep it going?”
Harry looked at her in amazement before taking her hand and leading her inside. Again, there weren’t too many people inside. It was near 9 PM at this point and there was only one client with a friend getting tattooed at the moment, with a few artists sitting around with their friends. Music was playing loudly and unflattering fluorescent lights illuminated the walls of sample tattoos. Harry walked up to the counter to introduce himself and a moment of realization flashed across the guys’ face, shaking Harry’s hand excitedly. Harry introduced Elizabeth and they were led back to a private room by two of the artists, walls lined with more artwork and a cabinet and cart filled with tools and equipment.
“Alright, so who wants to go first?” A larger man spoke, bold tattoos covering every inch of his body up to his neck and a few on his temples.
Harry was about to speak when Elizabeth sat up straighter, “I do.”
Harry looked at her in shock while Elizabeth explained what tattoo she wanted. Since it was her first tattoo she didn’t want to go too crazy, she just wanted a dainty flower tattoo right behind her ear. The artist continued to sketch up an idea on an iPad and showed it to her. Once he got the dimensions right he had it printed on transfer paper and stamped it behind her ear, showing her the placement of the tattoo for her approval.
Since it was such a small tattoo the artist explained that it would probably take about fifteen minutes to complete, but he’d start off slowly so she got an idea of what it would feel like. Elizabeth took a deep breath, staying as still as she could and Harry offered his hand, letting her squeeze it as hard as she could while the artist rested his arm on her shoulder and pressed the tattoo gun to her skin. The buzzing noise felt like it rang deep within her ear and she loosened her grip on Harry’s hand a bit, only noticing the pain wasn’t as bad as she thought it’d be. It felt more like someone scratching a sunburn with a pencil really hard; uncomfortable but manageable.
“You alright?” both Harry and the artist asked.
“Yeah, it’s not terrible,” she said, super focused on not making any sudden movements.
Harry watched her with a smile before bending down and grabbing her milkshake, bringing the straw up to her lips. She grinned and took a few sips before pushing the straw out. “Thank you.”
“Of course,” he set her milkshake back down and rested his hand atop hers.
“So what made you all come in here?” The lankier artist who stood behind the table asked.
“She did,” Harry nodded towards Elizabeth.
Elizabeth explained how she hadn’t done any research on tattoo places in the area, that this was just the first one they stumbled across. Everyone seemed to get a kick out of it and they all began casually talking while Harry finished up his ice cream cone. Fifteen minutes had passed before her tattoo was done. He wiped it down with a bit of water and had her hold a mirror in front of another to see. It was perfect, with the thinnest lines and amazing attention to detail in the tiny flower petals.
“It’s beautiful! Thank you so much!” Elizabeth turned to hug the man.
He was taken aback, but laughed and gave her a little squeeze back before letting go. Harry was up next, explaining that he wanted to get a small biplane tattoo on his side. Elizabeth interjected, telling him to get it above chest level, suggesting his collarbone.
“Trust me,” she said.
Harry shrugged, agreeing to get it on his left collarbone. The two artists switched places and the lankier one would be tattooing Harry. Again, he sketched up the drawing and placed the transfer paper onto Harry’s skin, quickly getting approval and starting up the tattoo gun. Elizabeth did most of the talking, asking the artists how long they’ve been doing this and what their favorite tattoo they ever did was. The conversation slowly turned into crazy stories of things they had witnessed in the shop; a full on brawl between a husband and wife because he had misspelled her name, and a ton of fainting stories. She even got the artists to open up about their home lives and families, touched by the dedication the bigger man that did her tattoo, she got to know as Frank, had towards his wife, Leah, who had recently been diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer and was currently undergoing treatment. Eventually they began talking about how Elizabeth always wished that she was creative enough to be able to tattoo, to which Harry proposed that she try to tattoo him.
“You’re out of your mind! My shitty tattoo will be on you forever!” Elizabeth exclaimed.
“Yeah, along with the rest of them. Come on! If it’s that bad I can just get it covered up.”
Elizabeth looked at him incredulously as both of the artists had assured her that she could do something small and they would talk her through it. Harry’s tattoo took about twenty minutes before it was completed and wiped down. He was given a mirror to look at it and shook his artist, Derek’s, hand, thanking him before wrapping Harry up and motioning for Elizabeth to come over.
Derek messed with the tattoo gun and passed it to her, showing her how to hold it. He had taken the needles and ink out so that she could practice on Frank’s arm and figure out how much pressure she needed to apply and how slowly she needed to go before she felt confident enough to tattoo Harry.
“What do you want me to tattoo on you?” Elizabeth asked.
“Whatever you want,” Harry beamed at her before biting his lip, amused.
Elizabeth thought for a moment, looking at the tiny space on his arm right below his shoulder before settling on an idea and pressing the needle to his skin. She felt his eyes on her as she focused hard on staying steady.
“Don’t mess up now,” Harry teased.
“Shut up, or I will,” Elizabeth whispered, pursing her lips in concentration.
Elizabeth straightened up once she was satisfied with what she had done, turning to hand the tool back to Frank, who had looked at the tattoo and roughly wiped his face, holding his chin in his hand before turning to Elizabeth and giving her another hug. Derek had wiped the excess ink off of Harry and handed him a mirror to see that Elizabeth had drawn a very thin outline of the breast cancer ribbon with an L initial underneath it for Leah.
“Wow,” Harry nodded, smiling towards Elizabeth and Frank, “I couldn’t have picked a better tattoo, and it’s surprisingly well done for your first time. Thank you.”
“Yes, thank you,” Frank nodded.
For some reason, seeing a huge, muscular, tattooed man get teary-eyed always seemed to hit differently. But when you add in the personal struggle that he and his wife were going through, it was hard not to get emotional. A tear slid down Elizabeth’s cheek and she quickly wiped it away, giving Frank one more friendly hug.
“Do you mind if we get a picture for our wall?” Derek asked
“Sure, man, of course,” Harry agreed.
Derek took up close pictures of both hers and Harry’s tattoos. Harry pulled his shirt back on to take a picture of him standing with both of the artists.
When Elizabeth offered to take the picture for them, Frank shot her down, “No, you need to be in it, too! I need to show my wife the girl who tattooed Harry Styles for her.”
They called someone else in to take a picture of them and they all squeezed together, arms around each other, smiling. The tattoo artists insisted that no payment was necessary if they could just have permission to post the pictures of his tattoos onto their shop’s Instagram account. Harry agreed and said their final thanks and goodbyes, slipping them a check for $5,000 and leaving before they could give him the check back.
“They were lovely,” Elizabeth noted, looking up at Harry as they walked back down the street towards the direction of his car.
Harry grinned, grabbing hold of her hand before saying, “You’re amazing, you know that?”
She giggled, blushing, “So I’ve been told.”
“Anything else on your agenda?” Harry asked.
“Yeah, back at your house.”
The drive back was quieter than it normally was as they reflected on the events of the night. Listening to Frank talk about how resilient his wife was while hearing a tinge of fear echoing in the words of this tough, large man had really put into perspective how short life really was. Elizabeth felt like she was meant to go into that tattoo shop so she could be reminded to live her life the way she wanted to.
As soon as they reached Harry’s house, Elizabeth led Harry to his backyard, kicking her shoes off and flipping on the pool lights. She turned to Harry and looked at him while she unbuckled her belt and tossed it on the ground. His eyes furrowed and she reached to the bottom of her dressed, slowly lifting it up over her head and tossing that on the ground, exposing her underwear. His eyes lit in realization as she started to unhook her bra and he rushed to pull his clothes off. Soon they were both naked and racing to the hot tub, stepping in, careful not to get their fresh tattoos wet.
“I’m not going to lie,” Harry said, sitting across from Elizabeth, “This is probably the best first date I’ve ever had.”
Elizabeth laughed and joked, “Really? It’s probably my worst.” Earning a little splash from Harry. “Careful!” she exclaimed, brushing the hair away from her raw tattoo. “I’m kidding. It’s been the best first date I’ve been on, too.”
He slicked the hair out of his face with a wet hand, saying, “We go back home in a few days,” earning a nod from Elizabeth. He continued, “Any plans?”
“Yeah, Kate and Lewis will be back from their honeymoon the day before we get back, so Matt and I were going to go over to theirs and sleep over.”
Harry nodded, “You think you’d want to go visit my mom the next weekend?”
Elizabeth grinned, “Right, I forgot about that. Damn, one date and I’m already meeting the mom? You must be obsessed with me,” she joked.
“Shut up,” Harry groaned, chuckling a bit, “If you’re not my girlfriend by then, I’m clearly doing something wrong.”
Elizabeth floated over to him, and hushed him, “Let’s not worry about that. Our date isn't over yet.”
****************************
She straddled him, watching him bite his lip as he wrapped his arms around her lower back, pulling her closer to him. She felt him between her legs hardening as she ran her fingers through his hair, lightly brushing her lips against his. He pulled her face in closer to kiss her more hungrily and she laughed in between pecks at his eagerness. Elizabeth slowly traced kisses from his lips, to his jaw, and over to his ear as her hands trailed down to his now throbbing cock. When she grabbed hold of him, she sucked on his ear lobe and nibbled a bit, breathing heavy as she pumped him up and down, faster, then slower.
He moaned her name, holding onto her hips before running his hands along her inner thighs and squeezing. He rubbed her clit, softly at first, until he inserted his middle and ring fingers into her. She felt her whole body vibrate when he flicked his fingers inside of her, her grab onto his shoulders. He drew breath, wincing as she accidentally grabbed onto his tattoo.
“Sorry,” she muttered, moving her hand down to his bicep.
Without response he slipped his fingers out of her and took hold of her hips again, lifting her up a bit, which was easier with her being half submerged in the hot tub water, slowly placing her onto his cock. They both let a moan as she circled her hips, engulfing him deeper inside her. She bent back a bit, propping her hands behind her ass onto his kneecaps, continuing to circle her hips, watching as Harry bit his lips and stared at her breasts bouncing against the splashing water.
“Oh my God!” He panted, pulling her closer to him and taking her breast into his mouth. He flicked her nipple with his tongue and lightly nibbled, squeezing the other breast.
Elizabeth turned over and placed herself back on top of him before he forced her up and pushed her towards the other side of the pool, thrusting himself into her faster. She kneeled on the bench with the upper portion of her body hovering over the ground, outside of the hot tub.
“Fuck,” Elizabeth moaned, “Harder, Harry!”
The water splashed more viciously as he pounded himself harder into her and she made her pussy tense up so it would be tighter for him. He gripped onto her waist so tightly she could feel his nails digging into her skin as he grunted.
“Ahhh! Har-ry!” she yelped, her whole body shivering as she reached her orgasm.
This made Harry push her over the edge of the hot tub even further as he slammed himself into her, faster than he ever had, panting her name, “Lizzy!” over and over again.
Before he could even say anything he pulled himself out of her quickly, cupping himself into his hand as he came and hoisting himself above the water’s surface. He used the water to splash the cum away and layed on the ground at the edge of the hot tub, legs still dangling in the water, looking over at Elizabeth who was still draped over the side. They both laughed before Harry spoke.
**********************
“Like I said, best first date ever.”
Elizabeth pulled herself out of the pool, bent down and kissed him before saying, “Come on, let’s watch a movie on the lounge couch out here.
Harry and Elizabeth dried themselves off before grabbing a duvet, some pillows, popcorn, oreos, and a laptop, taking it back outside to the lounge couch. They cuddled close under the duvet together, still naked, and watched ‘He’s Just Not That Into You’ until they both fell asleep under the stars.

Can you expand on your idea of when he blocked the road off for the Late Late show?
Prancing Around With Watermelons.
You walk through the front door of your home, surprised when you overhear the sound of faint music playing in the background and the gentle scent of the candles you just bought burning. With Harry having such a tight schedule, you didn’t expect to see him walk through the door until sometime in the late hours of the night.
“Harry, you home?” You call out, your voice echoing down the hall gracefully as you close the door behind you and lock it.
“No, it’s your other husband,” Harry responds like the true smart ass he is.
You roll your eyes at his response as you step into the open space living area where you observe him perched over at the kitchen island with a coffee in one hand and his phone in the other. If he doesn’t have his phone in his hand, he has his iPad, two things that have to always be in arm’s length, god forbid he misses one call or email from his manager. “Was making sure it was you and not your mother before I said anything inappropriate.” You respond, reminding him of the times you have said things only for his ears, only to find his mother sitting in the living room. At this point, she is immune to the things that you two could say while entering the house.
Harry raises a brow and smirks, “Inappropriate, ay? I like the thought of that,” Harry chuckles as you walk closer and kiss him on the cheek. “That all I get?”
“Mhm,” you hum, “How was your day? You’re home early.“
Harry shrugs, “Yeah, knew you weren’t feeling the best so I thought I would try to get home early. My day was same old, same old, how are you feeling?” Harry questions as he places his phone down to give you his full attention.
You place your keys and handbag down on the counter before stepping towards the cupboards to grab a glass, "I feel a bit better, I’d feel even better if you’d be the one to cook dinner,” you glance over your shoulder with your sweet smile, clearly hinting for him.
Harry rolls his eyes and chuckles to himself, “Already covered, my darling.”
“You’re cooking?"
"Oh, fuck no.” Harry laughs. “We are going out to dinner, thought you deserved a dinner date, that is better than me cooking. We all know I am not the best cook.”
You nod your head in agreement, the last time he tried to make dinner he somehow managed to burn the zucchini and smoke the kitchen up. “I second that. So your day was average?"
Harry nods, "Yes, darling, just another day in the life of the music industry. How was yours?” Harry sweetly asks.
“Well, let’s see… it was pretty mundane and normal, besides the fact some jackass blocked off the road and made me late for my appointment.” You point out the fact that your commute this morning was delayed.
Harry gives you a cocky wink and confident smile, “That’s not nice of him, should be more considerate of others.”
“Yeah, was too busy prancing around with watermelons, any clue on who it could be?”
Harry shakes his head, “Not a clue, I’m sure he’s a stand-up guy though. I’m sure he gave you a warning not to drive that way though.” Harry comments with that slow and sexy smile that always makes you weak at your knees.
You nod your head and sigh, well aware that Harry did give you a warning of his plans, but it slipped your mind. “I’m sure he did, doesn’t mean he should block off the damn roads.”
Harry tilts his head to one side while listening to you as you continue to speak, “My morning was horrible, being late just made it worse. Sometimes I hate the drive from here to LA, wish our doctor was closer. I officially hate Beverly Blvd.”
Harry chuckles, “I’m sorry, darling. I offered to stay home with you and drive.“
"Well, then who would hold up traffic and prance around with watermelons?” You jokingly respond.
Harry sighs, “Fair point. How did your appointment go?” He questions, taking a sip of his coffee and leaning back on the stool as he watches you grab a glass of water.
You grow withdrawn for a moment, attempting to buy time as the glass gradually fills with chilled water. You take a drink before you turn back around to face him, unsure of what to say to him. You had it planned out in the car, but it was so much easier having the conversation in the car without him.
“Well,” you begin, “what are you doing next week?”
“Uhm, I’m not sure… why?”
You step closer to the kitchen island and place your glass down, “Can you make sure you’re free on Tuesday?”
Harry nods, “What’s wrong?”
“Well, remember when I felt light-headed at the airport and we thought it was just jet lag and dehydration?”
“That’s what you thought, but continue,” Harry nods, making it known that he just went along with your theory. He has learnt over time to just go along with your theories, he is well aware you hate doctors and doctor points and will avoid as much as you can.
“Uh, well… so…”
“Spit it out, love.”
“I’m pregnant.”
Silence fills the space between the two of you, and with each passing moment of silence that passes, the churning in your stomach gets worse.
You two haven’t spoken much about children, they came up in passing conversation here and there but it was never a serious conversation about what the two of you wanted. You two never discussed when the perfect time would be, he has always been busy with writing is music and touring, and you have been busy with your career as well. You both never discussed where you would want the children to grow up, London or here in Malibu, the Malibu house has more than enough room for a family, but is it a place to raise children?
Harry glances at you and cocks his head to the side, "I know."
"You know? How do you know?” You ask with wide eyes.
Harry sighs, “It was obvious,” he responds calmly, taking a drink of his coffee like he isn’t phased by what you have said. “The airport, you feeling ill, you being sick this morning at three in the morning, I don’t know how it took you so long to realise.”
You stand speechless, still trying to get your head around the fact he is so calm, it is as though his life isn’t about to change. “Sweetheart, why don’t you look happy?” He questions as he hops off the stool and steps around to you.
“Why do you look so happy? How are you not freaking out?” You respond as he grins ear to ear. You expected him to panic like you, after all, you two have no clue about children, the two of you are still trying to figure out the whole marriage thing out, you’re still trying to figure life out for that matter.
“Why would I? This is good news.”
“Harry, you’re forgetting something very important.”
“What’s that? What’s more important than this moment right now?” Harry sweetly asks, still smiling widely.
“You have a tour.”
“Okay, and?” He doesn’t seem to be concerned about his tour.
“How is this going to work? You leave in two weeks, I’ll be due while you’re on your last leg of the tour.”
Harry shrugs his shoulders, “I’ll call for an emergency meeting to have things changed.”
“How are you so calm?”
Harry sighs and cups your cheeks with his hands, “Listen, it’ll be okay. I might be a jackass who stops traffic and prances around with watermelons, but I promise you that it’ll be okay. I’ll work it out, whenever you need me, I’ll be right there.“ Harry assures you, kissing you softly to keep you quiet for a moment.
He knows you’re panicking, he knows you’re head is racing with one-hundred different thoughts that you need to figure out. "Stop panicking, we will figure it all out, this is good news."
"But, we never spoke about this, the timing-"
Harry cuts you off, "Sweetheart, relax, I promise it will be okay, the timing of things will never be perfect… Fuck, when I proposed it wasn’t the perfect time, I was seconds away from getting on stage. There is never a perfect time for things, our lives will always be busy and hectic, but we will always figure it out. After all, we managed to plan our wedding around my damn tour schedule, I am surprised we didn’t get married when on tour in Vegas.” Harry points out the fact the two of you have never had perfect timing, things have always been in the way, and life has always been chaotic and very go-go-go.
“You’re not mad?"
Harry shakes his head, "Of course not, why would I be?"
"Because of the tour and because we will have to turn one of your man rooms into a nursery."
Harry rolls his eyes, "I swear you panic for no reason, my love. We will buy a whole new house if we need too, we will do everything we need to do. I will make sure to be wherever you need me to be, come here, hug me.” Harry opens his arms and you fall into them. He wraps his arms around you and kisses the top of your head. “We will be okay, I love you."
"I love you, too.” … “But for Christ’s sake, don’t block off roads again."
Harry chuckles, "I will do my best, no promises.”

Roommates: Chapter 3
Warning: poly-ish relationship, swearing
This is written slightly different than Chapter 1 and Chapter 2.  Hope you all like it.
Time frame All-Star Break
Tumblr media
Josh tried to wrap you up in his strong arms but nothing was easing your mind about the phone that he kicked off the bed. You are pretty sure he tried to break it to not deal with the situation.
"Josh, could you please let me go and tell me what the hell is going on?" You try to pull away from his chest to look at his face. You could enough to notice the full range of emotions he was trying to hide but you knew him and he couldn't hide it from you.
"I need to figure out what to do. I need to make a call. Can you just jump in the shower and meet me on the couch okay?" Josh kissed your forehead and you nodded in agreement. Josh slid out of bed, picked up your phone quickly. His eyes shifted to the iPad on the dresser. "Yeah, I'll be taking that too Babe." His smirk appeared for a second and you threw your body down on the bed in defeat.
_____JOSH_____
"How the fuck did she get tagged Murr?" His voice was low but tense while pacing the kitchen checking to see if (y/n) was following his direction.
"I don't know Andy, but she was and we need to untag her now!" Ryan was remarkably calm sounding. Josh picks up (y/n)’s phone and types in the code.  “What are you doing?  You need to talk.”
“I’m untagging her.  And I’m gonna need you to restrict your tags NOW.”  Josh rubbed the back of his neck remembering when a crazed fan made him do the same a few years prior.
The post he was staring at painful to see.  (Y/n)’s bracelet in clear view as someone snapped a picture of him at Forno then with Ryan from a tagged pic in North Market, and sitting with some of the Lady Jackets at a game this season.  In her typical position of legs up and arms folded across her knees.   The caption: Is @ (y/n username) just a friend, a roommate, or more?  Who has the deets?
The ballsy instagram account was known to stir the pot with all NHL players.  Josh was thankful Columbus was a small enough market and that he kept under radar.  Here and there they would try to link a girl to him but without proof it died.  This.  The connection of (y/n)’s bracelet was damning.  “Fuck!”  Josh finally broke the silence.
“Andy, we are fine.  This isn’t going to effect anything.  I’ll be back in a day and we can talk about it before the team party.”
“And what the fuck do you want me to tell her, huh?”  Josh barked.
“Just tell me please.”  (y/n)’s voice was small sounding compared to the yelling in Josh’s head saying his world was about to come crashing down.
“I’m facetiming you.”  Ryan stated and there he was on the screen.  “(Y/n), I’m not sure why this happened....”  he started.
“And we already untagged all of us and moved you to private.”  Josh chimed in and wraps his arm around (y/n) while holding the phone so Ryan could see her face.
“Wait?  What?”  (y/n)’s voice squeaked out.  “I’m in photos with the two of you...and we were tagged?”  The color in her cheeks fully gone and Josh wanted to take it all away with a kiss but he just squeezed.
The boys spent the next few moments letting her look at the pictures, the comments, and then (y/n) retreated to the couch to create a blanket cocoon.
“I’m sorry doesn’t even cut it, Baby.”  Josh sits close enough but intentionally giving space.  (Y/n) leans into him and the sigh of relief that she wasn’t super mad at him was audible.
“You didn’t do anything J.  I just...I mean...I don’t.”  Tears formed and fell without warning but in a sense of knowing, Josh leaned down to kiss at them away.
“Let’s just order breakfast in and watch movies all day okay?”  Her head hardly moved but he took it as yes.
_____RYAN_____
“You okay man?”  Alex looked up at Ryan in the living space of their beach rental.
“No, something at home came up.  I’m going to catch a flight today.  I’m gonna pack but I’ll see you at the team party this week.”  Ryan didn’t even look up from his flight itinerary.
“Home home or Columbus home?”  Alex’s voice sounded concerned.
“Columbus.”  And with that Ryan retreated to his room to grab his things.
The flight seemed like eternity and he flipped through every group photo with (y/n) in it to see if anyone could see more than a bunch of friends hanging out.  He scrolled through (y/n)’s instagram looking for anymore pictures of her bracelet that she never took off.  It was in almost every picture where you could see her wrist.  Ryan rubbed the bridge of his nose and willed the plane to fly faster.
He opened the door and dropped his bag.
“Holy shit!”  Josh’s voice was groggy and Ryan’s attention shot to the couch.  He could see (y/n) under her favorite blanket nestled into Josh’s chest.
“Sorry.  I thought you would be in bed.  She okay?”  Ryan made his way to the couch and sat next to them.
“I don’t know actually.  She seems fine then a tear will appear out of thin air.  She hasn’t even asked to see her phone.  I got a text from her mom asking if she was home or if I’d seen her.  I told her she wasn’t feeling well and hadn’t picked up her phone.  Hopefully that didn’t send up too many red flags.”  Josh looked down at (y/n) and then back to Ryan.
“Let’s get her to bed, kay?”  Ryan popped up and scooped (y/n) up then headed to her room.  He took in her facial features while walking.  Her face seemed slightly blouchy but nothing saying she cried all day.  She whimpered a bit when he sat her down.  Josh was right behind him.  “I’m going to change but I’ll be back.”
_____JOSH_____
“We don’t have to go (y/n).  Right, Ryan?”  Not going would looks super suspicious.
“Maybe you two should go and I’ll just stay home and order in.”  (Y/N) raised her head from the couch cushion.  “I’m not a WAG or a teammate...not sure WHY I should go to the team party anyway?”  Josh’s look at Ryan was one that needed no words.  (Y/n)’s mood about the post went from random tears to everything is fine to well I’m not a girlfriend in anyone’s eyes so who fucking cares in the course of two days.
“We are going and I’m not taking no for an answer.”  Ryan was firm and didn’t even address her self-deprecating statement.  “We are ALL going.  We are ALL taking a Lyft together.  We are ALL going to do this thing just like we always do.”
“Yeah, what he said.”  Josh half chuckled which made (y/n) slightly smile.  “Now will you get your ass up and change into something besides my sweats please?  We need to get going.”
The ride over was silent for the most part expect Ryan’s small talk with the driver from the front seat.  Cam and Natalie’s house wasn’t far from downtown thankfully.  The trio slipped in and almost immediately separated.  (y/n) found the drinks and a chair to sit in that was awkward enough that no one would approach her really.  Josh mumbled to himself watching her actions wishing he could sweep her up and kiss that mood away.
“We need to fucking talk friend.”  Seth leaned into Josh.  Without turning around he nodded and headed towards the front steps.  Both men sat down.  Seth looked around before looking at Josh.
“How was the Bahamas?” Josh started.
“Fine and we missed you but that’s not what I want to talk about.”  Seth had his going to be captain one day voice on and Josh knew exactly what was coming next.  “Look, I’ve known there has been something going on with you and (y/n) for some time now beyond roommates but I also see the way Murr looks at her.”  Seth grabbed Josh’s knee.  “I’m just worried about you Andy.”
“Thanks but I’m fine.”  Josh left it at that hoping Seth would make his opinions known and leave it be.
“No you aren’t.  You aren’t fine and I can see it.  You forget how well I know you.  How much time we spend together on and off the ice.”  Seth took a deep breath.  “Just tell me this, do you love her?”  Josh nods in agreement and puts his face in his hands.  “Does she know you love her?”
“Yes.”  His voice sounded foreign with the simple word.
“Do you like sharing her?” Seth’s words stung and Josh felt it.
“What are you idiots doing out here?” Luc comes around the corner.
“Just catching up from break.”  You would never know by the way Seth said it that he dropped a bomb as big as Hiroshima on Josh’s heart seconds before.
_____RYAN_____
“(Y/n), come play Kan Jam with me?”  He reached out his hand.
“No, I’m good.  Natalie is frosting cookies with the kids so I’m going to help with that in a sec.  Go play with Wenny.”  (y/n) pointed out the window to where Felicia and Alex were setting up the cans to play.  Ryan brushed his knuckles across her’s before retreating to the back yard.
“Muuuuurrrrr!  You going to play with us?”  Felicia squealed.
“Sure.”  Ryan shrugged and flashed a smile that was missing something and Felicia seemed to catch it.
“Give us a minute Babe.”  She held up a finger and pulled Ryan towards the back of the yard.
“What was that for?”  Ryan acted like he was clueless on why she just over powered him to talk where no one could hear.
“Talk. Now!”  She crossed her arms and tapped her foot.  Eyebrow raised looking dead into Ryan’s eyes.  He just stood there.  “Okay.  I’ll talk.  I follow (y/n) and you AND JOSH on Instagram.  I’m not stupid.  She was tagged in a very interesting post.  What the Fuck Ry?”  Felicia wasn’t holding anything back.  “I know Alex didn’t see it but I’m not guaranteeing anyone else on the team didn’t.”
“Okay?  Roommates cannot hang out?”  Ryan quickly replied.
“Tjurskit!”  She shouted.
“Canadian here Felicia!”  Ryan pointed at this face.
“Ok, well I call bull shit.”  The corner of her mouth turned up.  “And here is why...” holding up her fingers to count.  “You never agree to the dates I try to set you up on.  You come to couple events with our friends alone.  You lead her out by the small of her back.  You don’t look at her like a roommate but someone you are sleeping with.”
“It’s more than that.”  Ryan whispered kicking at the grass.
“WHAT?”  Felicia pulls his face up with the fingers she was just counting with.
“I love her.  I’m in love with her.  She’s the one and I’m stuck.”  Ryan cannot believe the words that came out of his own mouth.  He’s kept that under lock and key for the good part of a year without even telling his sister who assumed there was more to the relationship besides friendship.
“Stuck Ry?  How?  Is that post true?  What is going on?  If she’s your girlfriend just come out and say it. “
“It’s just complicated...okay?” Ryan exhaled.

Quarantine, Day 207 For Real This Time
Whoops!
October 4
My husband was making fruit punch from one of those individual tubes of drink mix a little bit ago, and I'm not sure what happened, but he somehow released a cloud of punch particles into the air. (I know this because he sputtered in the kitchen like a man with a noseful of Hi-C and said something about an accident.) Now it is floating lazily around the house and every once in awhile I will inhale and it will be fruit-flavored. Trippy.
It was a quiet day today, as you may have guessed from my scintillating opener there. I got my period (and sorry for the TMI, but part of this journal is to track things that happen in my life because time is a fake thing and all the days are meaningless) so I was feeling very blah most of the day. I spent a lot of time bonding with my heating pad and wishing I'd been a little less strong on grocery day and just bought the damn bag of mini candy bars. Husband stepped up though, took the kiddo to the beach (they report it was very cold) and did the fort time and TV watching and kitten feeding for me because he is awesome. Kiddo is feeling very allergic today and has nearly killed my last box of kleenex but was in reasonably good spirits.
I did get one important thing done today, and that is the laundry. Clean laundry has been piling up again near the dryer, so today I cleared out a space in the living room, vacuumed it all nice, and then turned on John Mulaney's Comeback Kid special and folded four loads of laundry. Kiddo wandered in and watched with me for a little bit until I realized how filthy some of JM's material is and switched to The Great British Baking Show. This was an excellent choice except that we had to stop everything long enough for me to bake cheese-filled crescent rolls because we were both suddenly starving. Food shows are very dangerous that way!
Other than that, I mostly played a lot of Bloons Tower Defense 5 and Solitaire Tripeaks. I love Bloons Tower defense because it satisfies my urge for destruction and for things that move neatly in long straight columns. I remember back before the kiddo was born, I once forgot to go to bed entirely because I was playing BTD 3 or 4 and had gotten on a really good streak. And Solitaire is mostly solitaire, except that this particular games allows you to form little clubs and chat and earn rewards that basically amount to allowing you to play more solitaire. This is all well and good except I have accidentally gotten myself into a club where everyone speaks only German and I do not speak German. Normally it would be trivial to just go find another club, but the thing is that we keep _winning_. I hate to disrupt a good thing, you know? So I play on my iPad and I have the Google Translate app loaded on my phone, and I turn my phone camera on my iPad screen and get real-time terrible translation of whatever is happening in chat. Easy peasy!
Quarantine has been sooooo loooooong, y'all.

The Arrangement: CEO’s Son/Dom!Shawn x Black Sub Reader Chapter 5
Hiya! This is the chapter when we get to figure out a little more of why Shawn is the way that he is. I’m not interested in villains for villains sake; I’m interested in complex characters in need of healing and kindness and also to maybe fight for themselves a little bit. I think this is gonna get very interesting if the thoughts in my head are anything to go off of. Also I try not to bug y’all too often but I am very very poor at the moment so if you did want to buy me a Kofi right here. That would be life changing. Ya girl got bills. K bye.
WARNINGS: sex without a condom (gotta wrap it up folks), a mini panic attack w/o much description, and just some general softness.
*Shawn’s point of view*
He’s in the studio. It’s his happy place. He remembered being eight years old, just barely big enough to climb into the seat, but finding something magical about the sound board. His nanny used to pick him up from school and he would beg her to take him to where his dad was working. They only started letting him go once they realized he’d stop throwing temper tantrums. He thrived there. He listened quietly and he learned about how to track vocals, how to create rhythms and what actual sound waves could look like for a vocal. And then he was thirteen, and his dad brought this guy in.
He was in baggy jeans and a green sweatshirt. His guitar had a plus sign on it, and there were scratches against the body where he’d strummed too hard. The sound guy told him his name was Ed Sheeran. He was there to sing for his dad. That day changed his life forever.
He went from playing soccer every day after school, to playing guitar and creating covers. His dad happily put him in the guitar lessons and the piano lessons and the vocal lessons. It was the outlet he never knew he needed, but couldn’t live without. Shawn was always thoroughly convinced he hadn’t been destined for much. Was never smart in school, never particularly passionate about anything either. And since the day he was born, all he knew was that his dad was powerful and his dad had money, and that meant one day he would have the same. Not because of who he was or what he accomplished, but because of who his dad was. Music changed that for him.
“Hey, pull back on the reverb?” He suggested to the producer. “It’s clouding the vocal. Trust me.”
There’s a guy in the booth. His dad’s new golden star. Niall Horan. His first album had done twice the numbers they anticipated, and so after a North American tour to test the waters he quickly pulled him in to try and do it again. That’s why Shawn was there of course. To oversee the creative vision, and “provide feedback”. What it really meant was, his dad knew he could determine what was good and what was bad, so why waste his time when he could have Shawn do it. As far as his dad was concerned, he should feel lucky that he was even allowed to be a part of the process.
“Aye, this is just isn’t feeling right. I’m coming out.” Niall said from the booth in his thick irish accent.
There’s a room of writers, but it’s actually pretty organic in comparison to some of the other artists under his dad’s belt. Two of them are friends of Horan’s from home, who had followed him along for the ride. He plops down on one of the couches and reaches for a guitar. His fingers pluck absently at the strings and Shawn can’t help but glance over there instead of filling out whatever dumbass report his dad was asking him to fill out. There’s a redheaded woman on the couch who started playing alongside him. Another guy uses his lap as drums, and they just start jamming with each other.
It’s electric. It’s that thing that made his stomach lurch like he was at the top of a rollercoaster. It’s what left him more at home in his own skin than anything else ever could. The energy in the room actually shifts. He swears he can feel the music. Like actually feel every strum in his fingertips as if its his hands on the guitar. It’s authentic and real and they’re just playing for fun.
But, somewhere in there he remembers that this is all he’ll ever get. Just watching from the sidelines while everyone else gets to play. It breaks his heart. It makes him sick to his stomach. So sick that he leaves abruptly in the middle of the session crashing outside and choking desperately for air. This is what he got. A noose that always felt too tight, with the hope every day that he just might get the chance to breathe. This was it for him.
***
*Y/n’s point of view*
Shawn: I need you.
y/n: That’s gonna be a little difficult. I’m in Miami, remember? First show of the tour for Grande.
Shawn: Well when are you coming back?
y/n: I’m staying through the first week of shows to make sure all the kinks get worked out. No pun intended.
Shawn: I don’t think I can wait that long.
You were walking past the merch booth getting set up and stopped to chat with some of the people working it. You had a lot of respect for merch booth people, depending on the show--and the pop shows were always the worst--shit could get hectic and fast. They deserved tons more respect than they got, and you were happy to show them some.
You peered down at your phone and read Shawn’s text over again. It felt a little off, even for him. You had gone stretches of time without hooking up before. There were times where he needed to be in LA while you stayed behind in New York, times where you had one show in one city, while he had one in another. It hadn’t been a problem before. You always just found time when the two of you available, and went from there. Shawn hadn’t ever pushed it further than that before.
y/n: everything alright?
Shawn: my dad is satan
y/n: well retweet sis! We been knew that.
y/n: Sorry. I wish I could be there to relieve the stress. If you wanna hop on a flight and meet me in Miami feel free lol
You head for the sound check, checking in to make sure that that stage was being set up, so that  meet and greet could go off without a hitch later. You nearly trip over one of Ariana’s dogs and die, but other than that it’s fine. There’s hours and hours of labor that have to go into a show before the doors ever open, before those kids every step inside to see their idol get up on the stage. It’s your job, along with a host of other incredibly talented and hard working people, to make sure that those hours seamingly don’t even exist. You don’t mind it. Back in the early days you used to go on whole tours to make sure your artists were taken care of. It wasn’t until you turned thirty that you realized slowing down a little bit was in everyone’s best interest.
When you’re not needed you set up in an office space to answer emails and check in with the office. The afternoon passes quickly, and before you know doors are opening up, and the kids begin to pile in. You’re backstage making sure the band and Ariana are good to go, when the tour manager comes up to you looking panicked and confused the way he always did.
“Hey, y/n! Sorry to bother you, but can I borrow you for a second?”
You clap hands with Ariana wishing her luck she won’t need before heading off with Mike.
“What’s up, Mike? Everything okay?”
He nodded. “Yea! It’s just that I got a call from the head of security at the back of the venue, and there’s a guest for you who doesn’t have a pass.”
“A guest for me? I don’t have any guests tonight. Did they catch a name?”
“It’s uh...It’s Manny Mendes’ kid? Shawn?”
“What?!”
Mike winced. “He uh, he told them you personally invited him. Guy must be charming, or they probably would’ve turned him away.”
Charming, your black ass. He was a nuisance is what he was.
“I didn’t personally invite him anywhere! Take me to this dumbass, please.” You groaned in frustration.
The whole walk there you’re just trying to figure out how the hell he managed to get here that fast! Who takes a back handed joke, and then actually follows through it? Shawn fucking Mendes. This man was going to be a thorn in your side for the foreseeable future. God, was he lucky his dick was big.
Sure enough, at the back of the venue at one of the stage doors, Shawn is sitting there with a couple of security guards. His hands rest easily in his pockets, and he’s telling them a fucking joke that has them laughing their asses off. Where was the justice?!
“Hey. Took you long enough.” He chuckled reaching for a duffle bag at his feet.
What was he moving in?
“Shawn what in the hell are you doing here?”
He stared at you incredulously. “You told me to come!”
“I was kidding! How in the hell did you get here that fast anyway?”
“Honey, we have a private jet. Surely that’s not surprising to you. What are you gonna turn me away at the door right now?”
Mike is still staring at you with nothing but confusion on his face. He probably had no idea you even knew Shawn Mendes, let alone enough to accidentally invite him to Miami. This was bad. This was bad, bad, bad.
Your gritted your teeth. “He is very unfortunately with me. Mike give him a pass.”
“Are you sure th--”
“Mike just given him the damn pass.” You sighed turning on your heel to disappear back inside.
Shawn keeps up with you easily with his obnoxiously long legs. Mike power walks behind the two of you ear piece and ipad still blaring.
“Mike you can run along before curtain call. I’ve got things here.”
It’s not an option. It’s a directive, and he quickly follows it leaving you alone with your headache of the day.
“You really call the shots around here, aye?”
“Little bit. Follow me.”
You lead him to the little office space you have in one of the green rooms, and quickly close the door before more people find out that the two of you are together. He takes a seat on one of the couches like he belongs. You want to pull your hair out.
“What in the hell Shawn?” You groaned. “We have rules. Very specific rules.”
“I know. Look, I know! But you offered, okay? And I couldn’t...I wasn’t gonna wait a week. I need this. I need you.”
That certainly was a little more honest than the two of you typically got with each other.
You paused to take a better look at him, and it isn’t the prettiest sight. The smile and witty laughter from outside was a thin facade to the bags beneath his eyes and the frown that’s evident now. He looks a little pale, like paler than usual, and if you didn’t know any better you’d say he hadn’t been sleeping well. You did know better. In fact you were starting to realize that maybe you knew him a little better than you gave yourself credit for.
You took a seat on the table in front of him, your legs knocking together in the small amount of space between you.
“What’s going on? And don’t say it’s just cause you’re stressed.”
He peered up at you, his fingers tapping anxiously against his thighs.
“Since when do you care? That’s not exactly within the parameters of our relationship now is it?”
You rolled your eyes. “Not all of us go through life only living based off of what we can take from others. I know it’s a wild concept to you, but some of us? Some of us can actually be decent human beings.”
“Great so I’m a piece of shit and you’re a saint, is that it?”
“Why are you trying to fight with me? Don’t be a child; stop deflecting. Just tell me what the hell is wrong, and maybe we can fix it.”
“You can’t fix it, y/n. I’m stuck. I’m always going to be stuck okay? There is no fixing me.”
He looked exhausted. And it wasn’t the hard day at work exhausted either. This looked bone deep in him. You couldn’t tell if this was something you’d just never noticed, or if he was letting down a wall for you to see behind for the first time. Whatever it was, you didn’t like it. There wasn’t time to work through why that was, or what it meant for you to care enough to want to fix it. You just knew that you didn’t like it. That’s all that mattered.
You reached forward, your fingers pushing at his knees to make more room for you to straddle his lap. His hands immediately came up to rest on your ass, and you slid your hand over his heart. It was beating like crazy. He just needed to slow down. He needed you to help him slow down. When you kissed, his fingers dug a little more deeply into the flesh of your ass. He groaned softly against your mouth and pulled you closer. It wasn’t necessarily that you didn’t kiss at all in the time that you spent together. Shawn had no problem dominating your mouth. It just so happened that in a relationship built on dominating your body there were a lot of other things you could be doing than kissing.
His lips were still heavenly though. He knew how to tug at your jaw, how to pull you in closer and run his tongue perfectly along the roof of your mouth. It was as intoxicating as all the other things he seemed to be able to do with his body. Only instead of quickly moving to the next phase the way that he usually would, he kept you there a while longer. His lips moved against yours and your arms wrapped tight around him. You could feel his shoulders release beneath your touch, could feel his hands relax against your ass. By the time he flips you to lay your body down against the couch, fingers already tugging to get his jeans down his thighs, your lips are buzzing, and you feel kind of lightheaded. You wouldn’t have it any other way.
“Tell me what you need.” You whispered against his lips. “Tell me how to please you.”
“Need to be in you. Right now.” He muttered reaching beneath your skirt.
His fingers found their way between the fabric of your underwear, gently nudging between your folds where you were already wet. He tugged the thing band down off of your legs and tucked them into his jean pocket.
He groaned softly plunging his middle finger inside. “You’re always wet for me. Know exactly how to be good for me.”
He curved up and to the right, rubbing quickly against your walls to get you where you needed to go. This wasn’t about foreplay. This wasn’t a scene. There was no plan here. It was frantic and a little messy. But you liked it. You liked it more than you knew what to do with.
“Are you my good girl?” He panted jerking his finger up and down to touch the thing inside of you that made you thrash.
“Yes. Yes, I am. Please, Shawn. Please?”
“The faster you cum, the faster I can get inside this pussy.”
His bicep tensed and his breath came out in harsh pants against the side of your neck. His fingers won’t stop, won’t let up, and your body gives him exactly the reaction he wants every single time. It’s like magnets. Like he knows exactly how to touch you to make you scream. And you do. Always.
His thumb rubs circles on your clit and your body practically melts. Your back arches and your moans get higher as your orgasm hits. Not one to ever be outdone unless it’s by himself, Shawn withdrew his fingers and immediately pushed his way inside of you. The stretch alone in conjunction with the weight of him pressing you down into the couch was enough to heighten your orgasm to a place it’d never been before.
“You’re so fucking tight, shit y/n.”
“I can’t fucking breathe--Shit! it’s so good!”
The arm of the couch provides a kind of leverage you couldn’t get if you prayed for it, and Shawn’s taking full advantage. There’s something different in the way that he handles you. He’s a little more desperate than you’re used to. His hips are less skilled precision and more broken lunges. But you love it just the same. Push your hips up against him chasing something similar, chasing a high that will take you both straight off that cliff together.
“I love being inside you.” He whimpered against your chest. “Nothing feels like you. Wanna give it to you so good.”
“You do. You fucking do.”
His teeth sink into the flesh of your shoulder and it drives you up a fucking wall. You dig desperately into the couch with your heels and cry out for him. It’s fast and dirty and not at all like what you’re used to. It’s just him, just him in all your senses. And you just wanted to give that back to him tenfold.
“Want you to cum for me again. Want you to come while I shoot my load in your pussy.”
“O--Okay. Okay I’ll cum, just please keep fucking me just like that. Please, just like that”
He pushes himself up onto his knees and moves your thigh up so that your knee is pressed against the arm of the couch. His dick doesn’t even make sense at this point. It’s like amnesia. Dick amnesia. But, he does this thing where he twists his hips every time he pushes his way back into you, and it makes you cum like a waterfall. And the second you’re cumming, his thrusts deteriorate into quick, rugged slaps against your sex. When he peaks, it’s euphoria for you both. Absolute Euphoria.
For a while neither of you move except for the pounding of your hearts in unison with one another. You can’t feel your toes, and it’s so sensitive to feel him inside you in this way. It’s not just good sex it’s a feeling that he gives you in wide abundance. You feel complete with him on top of you. Sated and fulfilled and taken care of.
“Wow.” He chuckled leaning down to kiss you roughly. “That was incredible.”
You giggled. “Yea. We’re good at that. Real good.”
He slides off your body and disappears into the bathroom for a few minutes. He comes back with some damp paper towels and cleans tenderly between your legs.
“It’s not my egytpian cotton, but it gets the job done.” He chuckled.
He already looks entirely different. There’s color in his cheeks and his eyes have that obnoxious sparkle shit that they do. You like him a lot better when he looks this way. And there’s a part of you that feels a sense of pride at being able to bring that out of him.
“Thank you, kind of.” You snorted softly.
You fix your skirt while he pulls his jeans back up. You can’t help but notice you managed to yank the neck of his t-shirt horribly out of place somewhere in the midst of your climax. The least you can do is grab him one of the merch shirts. It hits him in the face when you toss it, but that’s at least a few more seconds you have to calm the hell down.
“What’s this?”
“Figured we didn’t want people asking questions. Put it on, I’m sure there’s still some more of Ari’s set left.”
His eyes widened a little and he stared back at the t-shirt before looking back up at you.
“You want me to stay?”
It’s your turn for your eyes to widen and for the ground to become more interesting.
“You don’t have to obviously. You got what you came for. Ari, just puts on a really good show.” You mumbled.
“No I--I’d love to see the show. Haven’t seen her since Coachella.”
He changed quickly out of his t-shirt, sliding on a God Is A Woman shirt instead. The outfit change is a good one in your estimation.
“Great now give me my underwear back.” You murmured resituating your lanyard that got you in everywhere around your neck.
“Oh. Yea, no.”
You looked up at him and there he was leaning against the same part of the couch that he’d rammed you again not ten minutes ago. His long legs crossed in a similar fashion to his arms across his chest. That confidence was just obviously roaring in his system all over again. He was back, just like that.
“Excuse me?” You asked, eyebrow raised and pointed.
“I’m gonna keep them. Kinda want you to think about the fact that you won’t have any panties on all night, and I’ll be the only one who knows. Every time you have to yell at someone to do their job right, every time someone from the crowd bumps into you, it’ll just be you and I who know that you’re my good little girl. So I’m gonna keep them until I’m ready to give them back to you.”
And just what in the fuck does someone do with a speech like that?
“Yea….okay.”
You leave the greenroom behind in the hopes that no one will be able to tell what was done in there that night. Instinctively you reach for his hand and tug him along behind you to get the pits. It’s a sold out show, so there’s definitely a hell of a lot of people there, but you make it work nonetheless. With only the first half of the show missed anyway there’s still plenty of talent left for him to see.
At first you thought that you needed him to see what you were capable of. Ariana was all talent, all vocals, and iconicism, and magic. But, it was you that brought it all together, you who coordinated every little piece to make sure it all ran together without problem. Before you met Shawn, before ever deciding to do the little arrangement he schemed for the both of you, there had been a need to prove yourself. It came with the territory as a woman, let alone as a Black woman in a white male dominated industry.
Something happens in the middle of the show though, when the moon hangs from the ceiling, and her voice is belting out through the whole arena. You peer up at him watching the show, and there’s no ego to be had. It’s not like when other music execs come to visit shows, and they're just looking for a way to upstage you. He’s just there. Enjoying every note and letting the vibe of the crowd fill him in that way that you loved and cherished about live shows. It’s the first time outside of the bedroom that he eases the tension for you, that he gives you a sort of metaphorical pat on the back to say, “you don’t need to stand tall. Put that away for right now.”
You take a deep breath and let your head rest against his shoulder before there’s even room to think about it. Before you lose the moment, before the tension finds a way to ease back into your body, he wraps his arms around your waist from behind. Ariana keeps singing. The crowd keeps screaming. And he doesn’t let up until the lights come back on.
***
“Where are you staying tonight?” You asked, trying to pay attention to the break down of the venue happening around you.
“Wherever you’re staying I guess.”
You peered over at the way that he was leaning against one of the barricades, still dressed in his God Is A Woman shirt, with a smirk upon his lips.
“So fucking cocky, all the time.” You snorted. “I’ve got a lot of work left to do here. I’m always the last to leave from a show.”
“That’s fine. You want me to head up to the hotel, or should I wait behind for you?”
“You’re really staying huh?”
“Told my dad I’m doing research. I think he’s found a new intern to screw, so he’s not really checking in at the moment. I could use a little vacation.” He hummed. “You want me to go?”
You bit your lip and ran your fingers over your waist where his hands had touched. It was dangerous letting him in like this. You knew it. You had to know it.
“No I don’t want you to go.”
He smiled softly. “Guess I’m not going, then.”
“Guess not.”
“Besides if I left?” He murmured stepping forward to cup your hip intimately. “When would you ever get your thong back?”
Bastard.
It’s well past one in the morning before you get to leave. Your feet hurt and you really need a shower and the hotel can’t come fast enough. There’s a car around back waiting for you, and Shawn trails right along side you with his louis vuitton duffle bag that again just reeks of unnecessary indulgence, but you let him have it this time. The soft leather seats of the BMW and the gentle shake of the car is enough to lull you towards sleep. You were the queen of sleeping on cars. Touring life was perfect for you. What you weren’t used to was having someone beside you too as you made yourself comfortable.
“Are you falling asleep right now?” Shawn chuckled.
“I’m just resting my eyes.” you mumbled heading leaning back against the headrest, eyes closed. “Don’t worry, I’ll be plenty well rested for sex later.”
“Yea...Okay.”
*thirty minutes later*
“Honey, wake up.”
“Mmmm...No.”
“No?”
“No. I’m comfy, Ti. Leave me alone.” You whined snuggling deeper into her shoulder.
“As much as I have a feeling Tianna could kick my ass, I don’t think our biceps quite look alike. I am definitely not Ti.”
Your eyes popped open in shock alerting you to the fact that you wrapped your whole fucking body around this man’s arm and he had done nothing to stop you. The gal! The injustice!
“What are you doing? Why did you let me do that?” You gasped detangling yourself from his grasp.
He rolled his eyes. “I didn’t ‘let’ you do anything. Your body tends to have a mind of its own. Apparently even in slumber. We’re here though, princess.”
Sure enough the hotel is there staring back at you from the window. You had really fallen asleep. And he had let you.
“Shit. Okay. Let’s go.”
The hotel room is neat and pristine. You won’t be there nearly long enough to do any damage to it. Shawn places his duffle next to yours and starts his routine that he always does at night. His watch comes off. The bracelet. The rings. And it is insane the effect that it has on your body. Your spine straightens. And he turns to look at you over his shoulder, curls extra fluffy without any product in it, and it just runs through your body like a fucking current.
He makes his way over to you and his fingers skim your chin like it’s fine. Like he’s not shirtless in front of you with a six pack and perfect wisps of chest hair. You kind of wanna ask him if the women he sleeps with ever don’t want to get undressed in front of him, but then a yawn leaves your lips and that thought gets left far behind, along with the moment.
He smiled at you softly and tapped your cheek.
“Look you’re exhausted. Why don’t we just wait for the morning. It’s no big deal.”
You wrapped your hand around his wrist to keep him with you.
“It’s fine. I swear.”
He shook his head. “No. It’s really not. Let’s go to bed.”
“Shawn--”
“I said consent at all times didn’t I?” He interrupted. “You’re too tired to consent. We’re not doing it.”
Too tired to consent. That was certainly a new one.
But the way that he settled himself into his side of the bed told you negotiation wasn’t an option. And you were fucking exhausted. So, you crawled beneath the blankets and let your body relax for only the second time that night. How odd for it to be that both of those times were because of Shawn? And what the hell did that mean?
His scent was in your sheets. It was on your skin and in your nose. He was there. This all consuming force that just seemed to fill the space around him infinitely. To the point where you barely felt like you fit in the bed beside him. And yet he sometimes looked so small that you wondered how he could ever fill any space at all. You couldn’t ignore the look on his face in the green room. The exhaustion. The smallness. What was up with that? And why were you thinking of him so damn much anyway?
“You’ve gotta shut your mind down to actually fall asleep.” Shawn mumbled from somewhere in the dark.
You rolled your eyes. “Thank you for mansplaining sleep to me.”
“I’m not--just...Look, what’s on your mind?”
“Nothing. What makes you think there’s something on my mind?” You asked defensively.
“I just can hear you fucking thinking from all the other way over here. Why do you have to be so stubborn all the time?”
“I’m not stubborn!”
You had one of those out of body experiences where you actually hear yourself speak, and it subsequently proved his point. Rude.
“It’s genetic.” You murmured softly. “Sorry. I guess I uh I’m just not used to having someone else sleep in bed with me.”
“Well thank you. We fall asleep after fucking most times though?”
“Yes well there’s a difference between being fucked into a coma and just lying beside the person.”
He took a deep breath. “Do you want me to leave? I can just go get another room.”
“No it’s fine! It’s fine. I swear. I’m just...adjusting.”
“Fine. You...adjust, then. I’ll try not to breathe too much and disturb you.”
It was a long night.
***
*Shawn’s point of view*
The sun fills the room and it’s a complete and utter nuisance to him. Too early. Too bright. Too not cuddly. So he snuggles his face back into the warmth and ignores it for a little while longer. It’s the most well rested he’s felt in months. So well rested that he doesn’t want to leave, doesn’t want to be without this warmth that he’s never felt before. And why would he? Why would he ever want to leave this?
He opens his eyes and all that he sees in brown. Cocoa brown with deep red undertones that light up beneath the sunrays. It’s the first time he’s ever woken up before her, her mental clock seeming to always pull her out of bed before his dick is even awake let alone his mind. The fact that she’s asleep is a miracle within itself. The fact that he gets to look at her while she does it feels like maybe a little extra miracle on the side.
There’s a freckle on the divet in the small of her back that he’s never noticed before. Her bonnet to cover her hair is the same color as her nails and there’s a part of him that needs to know if it was a conscious decision or not. Knowing y/n, it could go either way. The covers had slid down her back and he’d wrapped himself around her at some point in the night. And it was somehow the best night sleep he’d had in so long. No sex. No ropes. No lube. Just sleep.
He wasn’t dumb. Something was different. Something had been different from the very beginning. His hooks up didn’t sleep over. He didn’t fly to anyone, ever. Hell, he didn’t even drive to anyone. Uber was practically part of his foreplay in life.  How the fuck did he end up in miami grabing her waist while Ariana Grande scerenaded them by fucking moonlight? He didn’t do this. He didn’t grab hips if he wasn’t fucking. He didn’t tell a woman he’d rather sleep then have sex with them. He needed to end this. And fast.
However . . . she was still asleep. And the sun was still just coming up. So what was really the harm in lying there a little longer? He pressed his arm back over her waist, thumb rubbing smoothly into the skin of her tummy. He’d get up in just a minute, would end it in just a minute. For sure.
*three days later*
“I will be back in less than a week.” She says.
“It will be over in no time.” She says.
“Stop fucking biting my thighs while I’m answering work emails!” She says.
After a break full of rushing her off to different rooms with locks on them in the venues so he could get his head between her thighs, it was finally over. His dad had finally called to ask why the hell his new Director of Talent Management was nowhere to be fucking found. It was time for him to leave, which meant days before he would see her again. Which was fine. Totally fine.
“So hear me out,” He argued as they drove to the final venue, he’d get to see her out. “I just think maybe Tianna should be taking me into account when she’s making your schedule. That’s all.”
She snorted. “I am not going to ask that woman to schedule dick appointments for you.”
“They’re not for just me! I’m thinking of you here too. Had I not taken off from my busy schedule to come to Miami, you might have actually combusted.”
“Women can go longer than twelve hours without sex Shawn. It’s yall who act like the world will explode if somebody doesn’t touch your dick for two seconds.”
He rolled his eyes at her. “I’m just saying it might be nice to know that you’re gonna be gone for weeks on end, ya know?”
She peered over at him from her phone where she’d been working away. She seemed to work harder and longer than anyone he’d ever met. Even more than his dad, which is explained why he couldn’t stand her.
“You could always...hook up with someone else while I’m away.” She said.
Her eyes are curious, watchful. There’s something behind the question that she’s asking, but he doesn’t know that on account of him being stupid. All he knew was that women didn’t just offer up the opportunity to sleep with other people. Even his past hook ups grew easily attached. It was his main reason for never repeating. Who was this woman?
“What makes you think I’m not, already?” He asked trying to match her eye contact.
She bit her lip. “The fact that you’re here right now.”
“Are you...hooking up with other people?”
“What if I was?”
He broke his gaze, not having it in him to keep staring at her. She was definitely stronger than him there.
“Whatever. Wouldn’t matter. ‘Snot like we’re together.”
She nodded. “Exactly.”
“Yea, exactly.”
The rest of the ride is silent. She was getting dropped off at her venue to continue on with Ariana through the rest of the week. He was heading back for NYC to get back to work. It would be a few more days before she flew back home. But, that was alright. He could wholeheartedly find other things to fill out his day. He didn’t need her at all.
The car pulls up to the arena and she pauses before she exits the car. She looks back at him like she’s waiting for something, like she expects him to say anything else. He doesn’t know what to say, just completely goes blank under her stare. She smiles at him.
“Goodbye, Shawn.”
“Bye, y/n.”

IX. PHILOPHOBIA
Suggested Listening/Songs Mentioned: Tadow x Masego; Body Party x Ciara
Word Count: 7.1K (Grab a snack, kids)
**************
Philophobia: (n). the fear of love or of becoming emotionally connected with another person
In the days following their confessions session, O’Shea and Erik finally committed to having a regular schedule that was conducive to both her therapy and their personal needs.
Mondays were used to discuss the previous week’s activities, whether or not they were successful, and to plan out new activities for the upcoming week. Those activities would then be implemented on Tuesday while Wednesday was a quiet day.
During the quiet day, Erik would see other patients, if any, or meet with Skylar to discuss upcoming research projects. Thursdays were used for mid-week check-ins. O’Shea would contact Erik if she wasn’t feeling like herself or if she felt like the particular week’s activity was a failure. They alternated Friday and Saturdays for personal time outside of the office. During this time, they would go on movie or dinner dates or just chill at each other’s houses, cuddling or playing video games.
Their relationship was flourishing at a healthy rate and while excited for her best friend, Skylar couldn’t help feeling a pang of jealousy.
Erik watched her intensely as she paced the floor of his office, convinced that she was about to create a completely new design.
“Are you gonna talk to me or are you gonna put a hole in my floor?”
She stopped and faced him, her eyes riddled with conflict.
“I don’t know how to explain it without sounding like a bitter bitch,” she said, finally taking a seat in the chair across from him. It was Friday so she was dressed down in a black tank that read “Thug Life” in white Old English writing, camouflage cargo pants, and black gladiator sandals. Her curly mane haloed her face and big, gold bamboo earrings with her name in the middle adorned her ears.
“Girl stop all that and tell me what’s wrong so I can help fix it,” Erik fussed, coming around to sit on the corner of his desk in front of her.
“Well, I know I was the main one that wanted you two together, but now that it’s happening, I guess I’m a bit jealous. Not because you both are finally happy and in a healthy space to pursue a relationship, but because I want the same thing and right now. It’s hard.”
“Elaborate,” Erik said, removing his glasses so that their eyes met.
Sky sighed heavily before continuing, “Lately, I’ve found myself missing Monica. I mean, yeah, our relationship was toxic 80% of the time, but things were good when we were on good terms. She showered me with love and adoration and she was someone that I could call mine, even if it was only for a limited time. Occasional hookups are cool, but I miss being in love and the thought of pursuing something of that nature with Oya has me TERRIFIED,” she stomped, pushing his pen from the desk so that it rolled onto the floor.
“For the last time, would you calm down?” Erik’s voice was stern yet soft as he stared into her big doe eyes.
“I can’t help it, E,” she confessed looking up at him. “It’s quite obvious that Oya is interested, but I don’t know if I’m ready to go back down that road again. Not to mention, she wants a full-on domme/sub relationship. Monica and I only did a few scenes during our time together. I’m nobody’s domme.”
“You are,” he said frankly. “Your dick is bigger than mine most of the time, you just don’t seem to realize it. What are you afraid of?”
“Losing my license.”
“Is that all?”
“Yes.”
“Liar.”
Skylar furrowed her brows, shooting him a glare that made him square his shoulders and glare right back.
“I’m not lying.”
“Yes you are; your bottom lip is trembling. Just say you’re afraid of giving your all to someone only to get your heart broken again.”
Sky hung her head in defeat. Erik was right and she knew it, but the truth wasn’t what she wanted to hear at the moment.
“This is just so unprofessional. I pride myself on not getting attached to my clients and here I am considering a relationship with this girl.” She sighed again, rubbing her temples as she felt the beginning symptoms of a migraine building.
Erik carefully took her chin between his thumb and index finger, lifting her head so that her eyes met his.
“I understand your apprehension, but you’ve gotta understand that everybody ain’t Monica.”
“I know, but that’s something I’m not ready to deal with yet. When she comes by the office, I’ll propose some things she can implement with her current partners before offering myself up.”
“Good luck with that, but if she’s as straightforward as you say she is, she’s only gonna tell you that nothing worked with her other partners just so she can have you. That’s how brats operate Dr. Greene. I should know; I’m an expert,” he replied with a sly smirk that made Sky chuckle before she could catch herself.
“You’re so fucking arrogant,” she frowned pushing his face away from hers.
“I’m not arrogant, I’m confident there’s a difference. Plus, it made you laugh so my job as Best Friend of the Year is done.”
“I swear you get on my nerves but thank you. This talk was much needed and it’s helped put some things into perspective. I’m gonna go work on a therapy plan for Ms. Ramirez.”
“Aight, let me know if you need anything.”
“Will do,” Sky replied with a warm hug before walking out of his office and out to her car. As if on cue, her phone rang and Oya’s picture came into view. It was a candid taken when Oya wasn't paying her any mind.
“Good afternoon, Ms. Ramirez.”
“Good afternoon, Dr. Greene,” Oya’s voice called back in a soft and seductive tone. “I was wondering if I could drop by your office, I have some things I’d like to discuss with you.”
Skylar swallowed thickly before replying, “Yes, I have an open slot for 1:00. Does that work for you?”
“Oh yes, that’s perfect. I’ll see you then.”
**
“Welcome to Kinky Sky Sex Therapy and Toy Emporium,” O’Shea called to the stranger when the bell of the shop dinged.
Oya paused, thinking to herself how much of a mouthful that was before her mind thought of how much she’d like a mouthful of --
“Hello again. O’Shea, right?” Oya replied to the slender beauty behind the counter.
“Yes, and you’re Oya, right?” Oya nodded with a smile. “Nice to meet you again."
"I had a 1:00 appointment with Dr. Greene, is she here?”
“She is. If you walk back to that last shelf of toys, you’ll notice a staircase. Take those down to the basement and you’ll see her.”
“The basement?” Oya replied, more than a little apprehensive.
“I know it sounds creepy, but it’s not as bad as you think. I promise,” Shea said reassuringly.
Oya nodded before walking through the long shelves of toys and lubricants until she reached the top of the white slate staircase. What she thought would be a dark, terrifyingly creepy sight was the opposite.
The walls were painted white with black and pink accents and the floors were grey slatewood. The northern wall held the security setup while the wall behind the desk held a bookshelf and all of Skylar’s degrees. Skylar’s desk sat in the middle of the space. It was a glass top with gold legs and sat atop a white fur rug with matching fur chair with gold legs in front. Skylar was seated behind the desk typing at her iMac, her brows furrowed in concentration.
“Dr. Greene?”
Skylar jumped, causing a pen to roll off her desk as her eyes met Oya’s.
“Oh, hi Oya. I’m sorry I didn’t see you there.”
“It’s fine, I just made it down here. Que bueno!”
Oya looked around at the office briefly on her way to take a seat in front of Sky’s desk, shamelessly staring at the S necklace that rested in her cleavage.
“So what did you want to talk about?” Sky asked, closing the document she’d been working on.
“Well, I tried one of the methods you suggested when I went out with my sister the other night. The vabbing technique.”
“Oh?” Skylar asked, grabbing a pen from the cup on her desk. “And how did it go?”
“Pretty well actually. I met a girl and we hooked up and it was cool I guess, but...”
“But?”
“I may have accidentally moaned your name during sex.”
“Wait… You did what now?”
Oya merely smirked, unable to hide the way Skylar’s reaction was making her feel.
“I’m sorry, but I just can’t stop thinking about you. Everything that she was doing to me made me wish it were you, so much so that I called her by your name. Like we were making out and things were getting heated and next thing I know instead of saying Celeste, I said Skylar.”
Skylar blinked for a few seconds before finally finding words to articulate her feelings.
“Oya, I’m your therapist. That’s extremely inappropriate.”
“Is it really? They're both sky-related names... Well, what about Surrogate Partner Therapy? Didn’t you receive funding to start experimenting with it?”
“Yes but--”
“So why don’t you let me be your first case.”
Skylar sighed in exasperation. If Oya was Erik, she would’ve cussed him out seeing as how he knew how much of a pet peeve it was for her to be interrupted. She instead chose to remain silent, intrigued to hear Oya’s point of view.
“Oya, it doesn’t work that way. SPT requires the use of someone else as the surrogate partner, not the therapist assigned to the client.”
“But what about Dr. Stevens? I could go back to being his client and he could start the process. It could be a joint project between the two of you.”
“You’ve really thought this out, huh?”
“Yes.”
“I’ll speak with Dr. Stevens and we’ll get back to you.”
Oya leaned over the desk, tucking a stray curl behind Skylar’s ear.
“Don’t keep me waiting too long, Dr. Greene.”
**
“Damn, lil mama was prepared, huh?”
Erik asked as he finished the last bite of his volcano sushi rolls with extra eel sauce that he was currently addicted to thanks to his favorite brat. His feet were propped up on his desk and he was reclined back in his office chair staring down into the iPad screen as Sky stared back.
“Bruh, I was shook. I’m sure she saw it on my face too. Like, I’m not used to anyone being this straightforward with me other than you. It’s different,” she said, speaking a mile per minute.
“So… the real question is what do you wanna do, doctor?”
“I’ve been asking myself that for a week and I’m still drawing a blank.”
It was true. Skylar had gone over every possible scenario of a relationship with Oya and each time she was met with a standstill. Half of her wanted to pursue a relationship to see how things would work, while the other half was still stuck on the board finding out and losing her license. Erik hated the pained look in her eyes. He could feel her heart as if it were in his own chest.
“You mean you’re too pussy to live life? Come on, Sky. Yes, losing your license is serious, but what are the odds of that really happening? We’re both extremely careful and go through the details of our reports with fine-toothed combs. On paper, everything looks legit and aside from our personal relationship, O’Shea is doing well, is she not?”
“She is.”
“Alright then, live a little. Let babygirl bring some spice into your boring ass, lonely ass life. Invite her to lunch and eat her pussy under the table.”
“Wow, fuck you,” Sky replied, watching as he started on a truffle salmon roll. “I haven’t done that since O’Shea. Besides, I’m a Louisiana native. I’m spicy enough.”
“I can’t tell with ya boring ass,” he teased, popping the rest of the roll into his mouth.
“Those look good, bring me some.”
“Nigga! It’s lunchtime in LA and your office is 15 minutes away. It’s gonna take me an hour to get to you.”
“O’Shea’s wearing those green leather pants you like,” Sky sang sweetly, smirking at the way he readjusted his slacks as he sat up.”
“I’m on my way,” was all he said before the FaceTime ended. Skylar chuckled softly before pulling up Oya’s contact information.
Though he was incredibly annoying, she knew Erik was right. She had been overthinking the entire situation and needed to let things flow. If for some reason things went sour and she lost her license, she still had a successful adult toy business and more than enough money saved up to live comfortably for the rest of her life if she chose to.
Taking a deep breath she pressed the call button and allowed the rest of her inhibitions to fly out of the window.
“Hello?” Oya’s sultry voice rang from the opposite end of the receiver.
“Oya, it’s Dr. Greene. I was wondering if we could meet for lunch, there are some things I wanted to discuss in regards to your request for Surrogate Partner Therapy.” Skylar smiled softly as Oya’s audible gasp tickled her ears.
“That would be great, but my schedule is pretty full today with dance classes. How about tomorrow for dinner?”
Dinner? Skylar hadn’t been on an actual dinner date in over a year, too far consumed with work to entertain anyone longer than a few quick hookups. The thought of getting all dolled up and having a night on the town with a beautiful woman on her arm made her smile incredibly wide.
“I could do dinner. Is there anywhere in particular you’d like to go?” She asked, rubbing her chin as Erik’s explicit suggestion crossed her mind. The smile in Oya’s tone was infectious.
“Have you ever had Barton G.?”
**
“Do a spin and let us see you,” Erik’s voice called from Skylar’s iPad that sat next to her vanity mirror.
For the last hour, she’d been modeling outfits for him and O’Shea, searching for the perfect show-stopping ensemble for dinner with Oya. When she finally completed the 360 turn, they both seemed to be enamored with the lavender two-piece skirt set she’d picked. She’d straightened her usually curly locs and chose to wear a matching duster and clear chunky heels to complete the look. Though she’d decided against a full face of makeup, she still filled in her brows, applied some mascara to her lashes and her favorite nude lipstick to her full lips.
“That’s the one,” O’Shea said with finality.
“I second that notion,” Erik nodded, causing Skylar to break into a wide grin. She was excited to see how the night would play out and even more excited to see where her relationship with Oya would stand after dinner.
“Alright, I’ll call you two with an update when I make it home tonight.”
“Don’t go home, get some pussy,” Erik called, pulling the perfectly pearled blunt from behind his ear.
“Bye Nigga!”
Across town, Oya stood in her floor-length mirror admiring the denim colored two-piece skirt set she wore. Her hair was slicked into a low bun around her neck rested a silver statement necklace. The top stopped just below her breasts and the draped skirt stopped just above her left knee creating a high-low illusion. Her freshly shaved legs peeked from the split in the center and silver strappy heels rested on her feet. Her makeup was neutral, simple lashes and a nude lip completing the overall look. She knew she looked good and was determined to have Skylar eating out the palm of her hands… and maybe her vagina by the end of dinner.
After one final once over, Oya was out the door and on her way to meet the future love of her life. The drive to Barton G was short and soon the two women were face to face, both in awe of the other’s outfit choice.
“You look stunning,” Oya called as she admired the way the lavender skirt clung to Sky’s hips and thighs.
“As do you,” Sky replied with a sweet smile. “I went ahead and put our names on the waitlist so it shouldn’t be much longer before our table is ready.”
“Perfect,” Oya replied, taking the empty seat beside her. As she took in Sky’s appearance again, the bag in her lap attracted her attention. It was lilac with an iridescent crocodile pattern and gold hardware.
“Is that a Hermès Birkin bag?”
“Yes ma’am. It was my first big purchase after I opened my shop and I adore it.”
“Of course you’re a label whore,” Oya replied with a playful smirk.
Sky rolled her eyes, returning Oya’s smile.
“Whatever. Excuse me for enjoying the finer things in life. I worked my ass off to get my shop and when the time came, I chose to treat myself to something nice.”
“Pretty expensive treat,” Oya mumbled.
“It’s true. I am indeed,” Sky retorted with a wide grin.
“Greene, party of 2,” the hostess called pulling Skylar and Oya from their heated conversation about designer fashion.
“I’m sorry, there’s just no way I’d spent $20-$40K on a bag,” Oya fussed, following the hostess to their designated table.
“But they’re beautiful bags, plus they increase in value 15% every year. It’s an investment if anything,” Sky reasoned.
“Be that as it may, I’m not dropping that kind of cash on a bag and I’ll be damned if my partner does.”
“To each her own, I guess,” Skylar shrugged. “But if I buy it, you’re gonna accept it.”
“Says who?” Oya countered with a raised eyebrow.
Skylar took the bait smoothly as she pulled Oya’s chair out, motioning for her to sit down.
“Ya Mama,” she replied with a wink causing Oya to flash her a devilish grin.
“I see you’re not playing fair tonight, Dr. Greene.”
“How is answering a question proposed to me not playing fair?”
“You know how. Don’t throw around such titles if you aren’t prepared to fulfill them,” Oya challenged.
“You’re absolutely right which brings me to why I wanted to meet with you. After speaking with Dr. Stevens, we both think that you’d be a good candidate for our SPT research. On paper, he will be your assigned therapist and I will be your surrogate partner.”
Sky glanced up to catch Oya watching her intensely as she explained.
“I will also be implementing Dr. Stevens’ 7-Day schedule which will be used to aid in both your therapy as well as personal needs. Out of the seven days, two of them will be quiet days in which we have zero communication with one another and you do not have to engage in whatever treatment method we have assigned for that week.”
Another glance up, and Oya’s stare was still just as intense as before.
“If this method looks to be successful, then I’ll start implementing more extracurricular activities in our time together, Is this something that you think you would be interested in?”
Oya’s grin grew wide at the thought of the introduction of BDSM elements. She was also pleased with the fact that Skylar had put so much thought into her treatment.
“I’m in, but on one condition.”
“Which is?”
“You spend the next two days with me, bonding, completely off the record. I want to see you in your natural state, and in these two days if you decide that a personal relationship isn’t what you want, then we’ll remain completely professional and well leave the extracurricular activities off the table.”
Skylar flinched, clearly taken aback by Oya’s change in tone.
“A-Are you sure?”
“Absolutely. I want you to be completely comfortable with whatever this turns into and I don’t want you to feel forced simply because of how strong I came on to you. At the end of the day, you’re a doctor and you have a reputation to uphold and I don’t want you to lose what you built because of me.”
“T-That’s really sweet, Oya. No one has taken my feelings into consideration like that before other than Erik.”
“Listen, I know that Monica chick did a number on you emotionally, but all I’m asking for is just one chance to prove that I’m in a different class.”
“Fine, you can have your two days, but after that it’s back to business,” Sky said, attempting to regain her usual tough demeanor.
Oya caught on and smiled a sly smile.
“Yes Mama,” she said as the waitress came to take their orders.
The pair spent the remainder of dinner talking like old friends. Skylar learned that Oya was the youngest of four children and that all of her siblings were dancers and choreographers. Sky spoke of her fathers and how she and Erik came to become as successful as they were.
“So you don’t know your mom at all?” Oya asked, taking a sip of her Sabrina-tini.
“She died while giving birth to me. Papa Simon raised me by himself until I was two. That’s when Papa Ruben came along and the rest was history.”
“Did your parents influence your sexual preference?”
“Actually, no. I’ve had relationships with men in the past, but Erik was the one that made me realize that I wasn’t interested in a long-term relationship with a man. Then I met Monica and the rollercoaster began.”
“She was your first girlfriend?”
“Yes.”
“Why’d you guys break up if you don’t mind my asking?”
“Long story short, she was a seasonal gay and I got tired of being her escape.”
Oya nodded, having dealt with her share of toxic exes in the past.
“Well,” Oya said, raising her glass. “Here’s to new beginnings and lots of healing. May our days going forward be filled with joy and smiles and only tears of pure, unadulterated happiness.”
“Cheers,” Skylar said with a bright smile, unable to hide her excitement for what was to come.
**
“Pole dancing, huh? Kinky,” O’Shea said teasingly as she and Sky explored the extensive shoe closet on the second floor of Skylar’s condo. Oya had proposed the idea during their dinner the previous night, opting to do it on Sunday since her studio would be closed to her students.
“It’ll be fun, just you and I vibing to some dope music. I just may teach you a thing or two.”
Oya’s teasing tone was loud in Skylar’s ear as she combed through another wall of shoes. Oya had instructed her to bring a pair of heels because she would be getting on a pole, a statement that had Sky turning her nose up slightly.
“If my thick ass fall, I’m fighting her,” Sky fussed, holding up a pair of black, strappy Louboutins.
“And I’m gonna fight you if you think you wearing Louboutins to a pole dancing class. This is real life, not the movies. Besides, you need something with a platform to help maintain your balance,” O’Shea said, grabbing a pair of clear 6-inch heels with a pink sole and iridescent glitter platform bottoms. “These are perfect! Try them on!”
Sky grabbed the shoes from her and put them on, towering over Shea as she strutted back and forth in the closet.
“Great, now I just have to figure out what I’m wearing,” Sky replied staring at herself in the mirror. She was currently wearing a baby pink cross-back bralette and matching leggings.
“That looks good. Pole dancing is exercise, after all, so you want to be comfortable.”
Sky thought for a bit before nodding in agreeance.
“Alright, well let me get going. We agreed to meet at 4.”
“Alright, be safe and have fun!” O’Shea called, following Sky outside.
After sending a quick confirmation text, Skylar punched the address of the studio into her GPS and made her way downtown.
The studio was dimly lit with pink and purple lights. The front wall of the studio held five floor-length mirrors while the back wall was painted burnt orange. In all, ten poles stretched across the entire floor in two lines and two speakers occupied the upper corners above the mirrors.
“Right on time,” Oya’s voice called from somewhere above Sky’s head.
She craned her neck to see Oya swinging from an aerial hoop. She moved so gracefully and elegantly, each movement flowing in incredible precision. It looked so easy, but Sky knew better than to think such. She smiled as Oya carefully lowered herself to the floor and padded over to her, greeting her with a gentle hug.
“I’m so glad you agreed to this class. We’re gonna have so much fun,” Oya said with a bright smile. She led Sky to a spot in the back where she could put her bag down and change shoes before pulling her to the center of the room between the two rows of poles.
“First, we’re going to do some stretches. We need your body as loose and limber as possible that way you don’t hurt yourself while on the pole.” Sky made a face before joining Oya on the floor.
“I told O’Shea we were gonna fight if I fall off one of these poles,” Sky said with a chuckle before spreading her legs in a wide v shape, lowering her upper half to the floor.
“Don’t threaten me with a good time, Dr. Greene,” Oya replied with a smirk before copying Sky’s pose.
Sky bit her lip to contain her smile at the way Oya enunciated her name before speaking.
“This is off the record and we’re out of the office so you can just call me Sky or Skylar.”
“I prefer Sunshine if we’re being honest,” Oya said with a sweet smile that Sky couldn’t help but return.
“Okay, Sunshine it is.”
After they were all stretched out and warmed up, Oya began the lesson.
“The first thing we’re going to learn is a basic spin. The easiest one to do is the fireman spin, kinda like we used to do on the playground. I’ll demonstrate first and then explain it in detail.”
“I know how to do that,” Sky remarked with a sneer as she watched Oya spin around the bottom of the pole.
“Alright, then missy. Let’s see you do it,” Oya urged, clapping teasingly as Sky completed the spin.
“Okay, let’s do something a little more complicated. This next move is called the chair spin. It’s just like the fireman, but as you’re going around, I want you to lift your knees towards your chest and keep your feet elevated as you spin. Like this,” Oya explained before demonstrating. It took a few tries, but Sky finally got the hang of it and was ready to move onto the next spin.
“This third spin is called the back hook. You’re gonna grip the pole with your right hand, wrap your right leg around it and let the universe do its thing. As you’re going around, you’re gonna grip the pole near the bottom with your left hand,” Oya explains.
“Let the universe do its thing? You mean gravity because that shit sounds like I’m going to bust my ass and get a concussion. Now how exactly do you plan to explain that to my fathers? Me being concussed, I mean?” Sky asked with a raised eyebrow.
“Just try it, scaredy-cat. I promise I’m not gonna let you concuss yourself,” Oya giggled.
By the end of the 2-hour lesson, Sky could successfully do the back hook along with the climb, the seat, and carousel spin, which she deemed her personal favorite.
After a few sips of water, Skylar took a seat in one of the chairs along the wall and watched Oya dance. Mid-way through the class, she opted to sit her phone down on the floor in front of the mirrors to record a few videos to send to Erik and Shea once they were done. Since Oya was putting on a show, she decided to give her some music to vibe to. Soon, the mellow sounds of Tadow by Masego filled the studio. Oya’s limber body swayed effortlessly to the beat.
Oh oh I saw her and she hit me like (tadow) // Saw that thing so beautiful (tadow)
She just hit my heart, oh (tadow) // Full force and she got me like (tadow)
Sky closed her eyes, allowing the music to transport her to her happy place. Everything grew still and tranquil and she just existed freely with Oya, no distractions and no apprehension. Deep down she knew she wanted this woman, but couldn’t seem to shake that nagging, fearful voice in the back of her mind. She shook her head, not wanting to go down that road at the moment. She was content and happy right where she was and wanted to stay that way.
When she opened her eyes again, Oya was straddling her lap, rolling her hips sensually to Body Party by Ciara. Just as she was finding her groove, California Love by Tupac began blaring through the speakers, signaling an incoming call from Erik. Not wanting to disturb the beauty in her lab, she answered the call from her Apple Watch.
“Yes?” was all she said as she wrapped her arms around Oya’s waist.
“I knew it! Best friend getting booty! You owe me $50!” he yelled to O’Shea who was sitting next to him.
“Wait, you niggas bet on me?!” she exclaimed, moving Oya slightly to the right to stare down into the camera.
“It was a spur of the moment thing, but yes. I figured you’d take my advice, but I wasn’t expecting you to be getting booty in the studio.”
“Ain’t nobody getting booty,” Skylar fussed. “She’s only dancing.”
“I mean if you want some booty, that can be arranged,” Oya said with a smirk.
“Hush, ain’t nobody talking to you. Just keep doing what you’re doing.”
“Yes Mama,” Oya teased, continuing her ministrations.
“Mama?!” Erik and O’Shea yelled in unison, sounding like Soulja Boy on his Breakfast Club interview. Oya giggled, looking back at Sky who was shaking her head at her best friend and employee’s antics.
“Move nigga! I wanna see too!” O’Shea fussed, snatching Erik’s phone from his hand. “Ooh, her ass fat,” Shea exclaimed, putting her whole face in the camera like a kid asking if you had games on your phone.
“You know what, bye!” Sky said, ending the call before returning her focus to Oya.
“How do you deal with them?”
“I ignore them most of the time if we’re being honest,” Sky said with a chuckle. “You know, you look really good in my lap,” Sky remarked as Oya slowed her motions.
“Really now? You tryna keep me here, Sunshine?”
“I just might, pretty girl,” Sky said, lifting her head slightly meeting Oya’s lips in a soft kiss. It was soft and slow, with a hint of tongue and a few lip bites. It felt right and when they were done, Sky was lightheaded. She bit her lip softly as Oya stared down at her, returning her heated gaze.
“Wanna go again?”
**
After another 3-4 hours dancing and making out, Skylar and Oya parted ways, making plans to visit Little Tokyo for their date the following day. Sky kept her promise to call Erik once she was finally home safely, making sure to tell him every tiny little detail that transpired after their FaceTime call abruptly ended.
“Finally! Bold Sky is making a comeback!”
“Oh my God, shut up!” Skylar exclaimed, hiding her face in her sherpa blanket to cover the fact that her face was as red as the soles of her Louboutins as if Erik could see her. “Her lips are super soft, though. I swear it felt like I was kissing a cloud.”
“I’m proud of you. So what did you guys decide on for her therapy?”
“Well, I’m gonna implement the 7-Day schedule that you have with O’Shea and if that works out then I’ll gradually introduce BDSM elements.”
Erik nodded, rubbing his chin occasionally.
“I like that and if you need some tips, let me know.”
“Will do, boss man. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to have a nice long soak. We stretched out muscles I forgot I had.”
“Keep on, let her stretch some more shit out,” Erik teased, his wide grin evident in his tone.
“Goodbye, Dr. Nigga!” Sky screeched, hanging up in his face. She couldn’t help the wide grin that stretched across her face as she recalled the way Oya’s lips felt against hers or the way her body felt as they rolled against one another on the floor of the studio.
While she showered, she imagined what Oya’s other set lips tasted like, or how she would sound moaning her name as her tongue lapped up her essence until she came undone over and over again.
Before she knew it her fingers were inside her flower, plunging deeper and deeper until her back rested against her shower wall, a pool of her juices flowing down the drain. She bit her lip as she thought about the introduction of BDSM to their relationship. If the mere thought of Oya had her behaving this way, there’s no telling what would happen when the two were finally intimate, but she was eager to find out.
**
The bell on the door of the flower shop dinged, signaling the departure of the final patron of Nola Greene Florists, the flower shop Skylar’s fathers owned. Hibiscus flowers, Louisiana Irises, and Gardenias were just a few of assorted flowers that lined the different shelves of the shop, all blooming bright and filling the space with a heavenly scent. Ruben was in a corner tending to a row of hibiscuses when he glanced over at Simon who was sitting behind the counter going over inventory.
“Have you heard from your daughter?” Ruben asked as he plucked another dead leaf from the plant.
“We spoke for a bit the other night. She apparently has an ice cream date today,” Simon replied looking up from the clipboard.
“A date?! And she didn’t tell her father?” Ruben gasped, almost trimming the head of a hibiscus as he ranted.
“Well damn, what am I? Chopped liver?”
“I didn’t mean it like that Simey Bear,” Ruben coaxed. “She just usually shares these kinda things with me first. I guess I feel a little jealous.”
“You’re such a diva,” Simon said with a chuckle. “The one time she tells me something before you, you’re up in arms.”
Ruben pouted slightly. Ever since Skylar was a child, they would always talk about the boys she liked and he would be the one to help with her hair and makeup.
“So what exactly does this boy look like?”
“It’s not a boy,” Simon said with a smirk.
“Oh? It’s another fish? It better not be that Monica heifer!” Ruben shouted as he slammed the shears on the counter.
“You know, she didn’t say,” Simon recalled, pulling his phone from his pocket. “Let’s call her.”
**
The streets were relatively clear as Skylar and Oya walked hand in hand through Little Tokyo. They grabbed a few t-shirts from Popkiller, Skylar’s favorite being the Kawaii Kanye shirt Oya picked out before leaving and heading to the Tokyo Japanese Outlet. There, Skylar bought herself a life-size Jigglypuff plush while Oya browsed the pin section. Sky rolled her eyes playfully as Oya stuck the ‘I Love Cat’ pin to the front of her shirt, rubbing her head against her chest purring.
“You’re aggy,” Sky said before playfully pushing her head away.
“Yet you’re still here with me,” Oya countered, walking out of the shop in search of food.
The pair decided on Shen Sin Gumi. Skylar remembered O’Shea talking about how great the food was and how they had the best ramen in LA. They both settled on spicy tonkotsu ramen with kikiruge mushrooms, green onions, and extra chashu. Skylar also ordered a side of takoyaki and chicken gyoza while Oya got a side of veggie tempura.
“Damn,” Skylar exclaimed slurping a noodle. “This is the best ramen in LA.”
Oya nodded in agreeance, taking a bite of the veggie tempura.
“It is. We should start letting O’Shea pick out food spots more often.”
“We should. All the little fat fuck does is eat,” Sky chuckled.
After lunch and more exploring of Little Tokyo, the pair ended their date at Bae, Skylar’s favorite ice cream shop because of their quirky flavor options and the overall ambiance of the parlor.
Oya couldn’t help the smile that stretched across her face when her eyes fell on the neon sign that read ‘With love, from bae’ as soon as they walked in.
“Real cute, Greene.”
“I know,” Skylar smirked back. The pair sampled several different flavors of ice cream, their mutual favorites being Pegasus, Mixed Feelings, Ube, and Heartbreak. Skylar’s cheeks hurt from smiling so much and she was in the middle of telling one of Papa Simon’s favorite jokes when her phone rang.
“Speak of the devil,” she said, answering the FaceTime call. “Hello father,” she said with a playful eye roll.
“Now is that any way to greet your father?” Simon asked, holding the phone close to his face in an attempt to see who Skylar was with.
Sky caught on and moved to the other side of the table.
“You’re right, where are my manners? Hello Papa Simon. How are things with you and Papa Ruben?”
“They’re good, my dearest. How are things with you and your friend?” Skylar decided to play dumb a little longer.
“Erik is fine. We’re both experimenting with SPT with our current clients and so far, things have been going well.”
Ruben, knowing the game his daughter was playing snatched the phone from Simon and commanded the screen.
“Cut the bullshit, Moreau. Let us see her.”
Skylar smiled as she bit her lip and moved back to sit beside Oya once more.
“Oya, these are my fathers, Simon and Ruben Greene. Dads, this is Oya.”
“Oh Skylar, she’s stunning,” Ruben exclaims, causing Oya to blush.
“Thank you, sir. It’s nice to meet you, Skylar talks about you all the time.”
“She better,” Ruben teased. “Okay, finish your date. I just had to make sure it wasn’t that part-time gay heifer.”
Skylar laughed at that.
“No Daddy, Monica is a distant memory. As a matter of fact, I think Oya just may be a permanent addition of she acts right,” Sky smirked, glancing over at Oya.
“Excuse you, madam?” Oya said with mock offense.
“I’m just playing, pretty girl,” Sky coaxed, stroking her cheek with her thumb.
“Mmhm... Tell me anything,” Oya teased, sucking her thumb off camera.
“Oop, she’s spicy. I like her,” Ruben said. “Well, you two enjoy your date. Papa Simon and I will check in on you later.”
“Yes, sir. Bye Dads,” Sky said as she ended the call. She shoved her phone back in her jacket pocket as Oya went to grab another double scoop of Heartbreak.
As she caught herself staring at the light-skinned, curly red-haired cutie before her, one thing was certain: She was fucked. Absolutely, positively, 100% fucked. She now knew how Erik felt the first time he realized how enamored he was with O’Shea and she wanted to curse herself for teasing him the way she did. Not since Monica had anyone made her feel so free and uninhibited and initially, she was very apprehensive about it. But once she saw Oya’s smile spread across her face and create that subtle twinkle in her eye, Skylar made it her business to have it on display more often.
“What?” Oya’s voice pulled Skylar from her thoughts and it was then that she realized she had been staring the entire time.
“H-Huh? What?”
“You were staring again, Moreau,” Oya responds with a sly smirk, extending a hand to brush a few stray curls from her face.
“You getting real comfortable with my middle name, Ms. Ramirez,” Sky remarks, leaning over to steal a lick of her ice cream cone.
“Just like you getting comfortable with my damn ice cream, ya thief!” Oya says with a laugh.
“It looked good, I couldn’t help myself!” Skylar screeched, throwing her arms up in mock surrender.
“Uh-huh, I bet you couldn’t. You gone make me fight you,” Oya fussed.
“Aww, don’t be like that, pretty girl,” Sky teased, causing Oya’s grin to stretch wider.
“You lucky you’re a hot doctor,” Oya smirked, stealing a lick from Skylar’s Pegasus cone.
Sky only smirked and shook her head as she watched Oya eat.
“You’re trouble, Ms. Ramirez.”
“Glad you know, Dr. Greene.”
**
The next morning found Skylar smiling from ear to ear as she entered the shop. O’Shea watched with a smirk as she bounced on her toes all the way down to her office.
“I take it you had a good time?”
“I had a great time. She’s sweet, she’s funny, and she doesn’t take any of my shit which is something I’ll have to get used to, but I enjoy it.”
“You and Erik really are two sides of the same coin. I bet he tells you the same shit about me.”
“That he does.”
“Awww, Sky Bear is in love,” O’Shea teased, poking at Skylar’s sides.
“I’m not in love, yet, but there is a possibility that something more than business will come from this and I’m not opposed.”
O’Shea squealed, kicking her feet like an excited schoolgirl.
“I’m so happy for you. You’ve been through so much and it’ll be nice for you to be loved the way you deserve to be.”
“Aww, thanks, Shea. That’s really sweet of you to say.”
“And I mean it, too. Oh, I almost forgot,” O’Shea squeaked as she bound up the stairs and back down again. “These were delivered for you.”
Sky raised an eyebrow before taking the bouquet of sunflowers from O’Shea. They smelled heavenly and hand a little black card attached.
“Ooh, what does it say?” Shea asked, bouncing excitedly. Sky grabbed the card and smiled from ear to ear as she read the message aloud.
“To my Sunshine,
May your day be as beautiful and as sweet as this bouquet.”
-With love,
From Bae

send me an au you wish i‘d write. // i wish you would write a fic where donna & gwen & martha are having fun together!  ( @yoakkemae ) tagging @manaborn bc yea
Gwen had declared they all needed some time off. Donna had found it a little difficult to try to argue against her since she had Facetime’d her and Martha while she was taking cover and her jacket was a little too freshly singed. She’s sure that Gwen knew what she was doing; if she’d called from her ship, Donna wouldn’t of hesitated to steamroll over her ideas.
“I’m off Friday, actually,” had piped up Martha, even as Donna knew she could see her glare. “What’d you have in mind, Gwen? I might be able to trade my Saturday shift.”
“Martha, don’t try to twist yourse–”
“Yes! We could go to the mountains, really unplug from it all!” Donna had taken a breath to retort when Gwen dropped her phone with a muttered curse. Both women waited quietly as the sounds of whatever defense maneuvers Gwen took faded in, and then the phone was picked back up with a scramble. “How about at the cabins from my 16th a couple years back?”
Donna blinked, paperwork slowly becoming forgotten. “Over in America? In the Rocky Mountains?” Gwen nodded eagerly. Martha tried to hide a smile behind her hand, it didn’t really work. “It’s February, I don’t think it’ll be easy to find one for this weekend.” She hoped it didn’t sound like she was agreeing to this weekend, she’s sure she had other things to do this weekend. “Don’t you have things due for uni?”
“Oh, I’m sure missing one assignment won’t kill her.”
“You are not supposed to be a bad influence.”
“She does just fine while traveling around.”
“Yeah!” Gwen was now on the move, as her picture shook and she kept looking behind her. Donna was ready to chew her ass out over being so overconfident. “If it helps, I’ll get everything turned in early and let my professors know I’ll be going out on a family trip.” There went that excuse. Donna chewed on the tip of her pen.
“It’s going to be expensive.”
“Loosen your fist a little, Scrooge.”
“Oi!” She pointed her pen at the phone, ignoring the loud laughter in order to keep a mean face on. “I still have to budget my expenses, just like everyone else.” Not a lie, but not the truth either. Her budget was hilariously more inflated than well over half the world’s population and she was well aware of it. Still, she had to make a point. “Keep that sass up an’ see if I’ll pay your ticket, Doctor Jones.”
“Oh, pleeeease, Auntie.” She must really want this trip. It was always desperate measures for Gwen to not just call her by her name. Donna gave a long suffering sigh. “Just two days away, no aliens, no paperwork, no projects. It’ll be us, snow, and spa treatments!”
“I’ll get Eliza to see what she can do,” twin cheers erupted and she shouted to talk over them, “but only if she can move my own schedule around. I’m not makin’ any promises. And, I’ll cancel it all if any of your professors tell me you’re missin’ papers.” Gwen stuck her tongue out on that and Martha shook her head. “Martha, how long ‘till you can confirm your shift change?”
“I should know by tonight. We plan more out then.”
“Guys—” Looking at Gwen’s square on the screen showed just a glittering purple sky. Her voice sounded off to the side, and Donna assumed she was probably looking over Plumber notes. She hoped she was looking over Plumber notes and not taking cover again. “Wild thought, but I could just fly us there.” Denials from both Martha and Donna were quick, making Gwen pop her head back into frame. It was upside down, and mostly her eye, but the insult was clear. “Fine. Party poopers.”
“We’ll reconvene in the evening. Martha, keep savin’ lives. Gwen, stay alive.”
“No promises, loveyouguyssomuchBYE!”
Once seven o’clock rolled around, Donna was able to move her schedule around and Martha was able to trade her Saturday shift to get a three-day weekend. The three of them were in her office with two boxes of pizza steaming up her glass coffee table, and the projector displaying snow wear options. Gwen was more than a little distracted as her assistant was currently talking to her about their lodging options seeing as the original choice was all booked up.
“Wait, go back, go back, yes, that one! Where is it again?”
“Aspen, in Colorado.”
“It looks really cute. Donna, Martha, look, isn’t it cute?” With a few quick taps, Gwen switched the projected image. She very much ignored Donna’s indignant squawk, but quickly returned Martha’s silent overhead fistbump. “And we can get one that has bunk beds!”
“Eliza, I will fire you if you book the bunks.”
“Noted, ma’am.” Gwen pouted dramatically into her pizza slice. Martha gave her shoulder a consoling pat but wisely didn’t voice an opinion on the bunk debate. “There are three bedroom options, two bathrooms and a full kitchen. I can see about requesting one near the sauna.” Gwen gave an exaggerated gasp, nearly choking on her pizza. Donna rolled her eyes and waved a hand in silent agreement.
Once her assistant left the office to make the booking, control evaded Donna again. The iPad was now in Martha’s power, who was swiping along the different recreational activities listed. “Don’t you want to check the price beforehand?” Martha got a throw pillow to the face for her efforts.
“Let’s finish this up already before Shaun files a missing persons report on me.”
“You didn’t tell him?”
Donna squinted, as if the action would help recall her conversation with her husband. Damn TimeLord consciousness was only useful when it decided to be. “I mentioned it to him. I mean, I told him that I might be goin’ outta town this weekend. Course, he asked if it was just outta town or really outta space, he’s a bit hurt from our trip to Clom last month–”
“Sucks,” cuts in Gwen around a mouthful of pizza.
“–and I still haven’t been able to get the universal signal done to his new phone, so I’m sure he’s just being a worrywart. I hadn’t confirmed my schedule yet when I talked to him, an’ then I had to do some video conferences an’ the day just slipped away.” She shrugged. “I’ll just send a text right now. You two can choose what you’d want Eliza to book at the resort.”
She leaned back against her desk and typed out a few messages. Martha and Gwen were enthusiastically going over the different options, giggles freely sprinkled between them, and Donna felt a warmth blossom in her chest. She tried – and usually failed – to hide how much she worried over the two, and seeing them able to act so relaxed helped her own stress by leaps and bounds. A fun, Earth-bound, no-magic, and wonderfully impromptu vacation might really be the best for them.
“Alright, you two,” she gave a quick clap of her hands and swiped the iPad out of Martha’s hands, “the husband’s aware you’ve got me in lockdown. Let’s get this trip planned.”
The first day hadn’t been so bad. They’d taken a red-eye flight to try to beat the six hour jetlag, had a marvelous brunch in bed, and then powered on ahead with the day’s activities. Donna had forwarded Gwen the itinerary from Eliza, declaring that she wasn’t going to stress about the agenda as this wasn’t even her idea. Not that Gwen worried about keeping track of it all with how wide her smile was the entire day. They’d gotten wonderful hour-long deep tissue massages, popped in the sauna afterwards, a quick shower at the cabin and taken the town by storm. Which just meant going around town and peer pressuring Donna to tap into the TimeLord knowledge of the town’s history.
“You know,” Donna had said to Martha as they took a milkshake break, “I’m not too sure if he’d have a fit about this.”
She never had to specify who he was. Martha always seemed to know, always giving that small nod in response. “Taking days off wasn’t exactly his thing. For all he said to just travel, he was always doing something, wasn’t he?”
“God, yes. I had to wrestle him into taking us to dinner or heaven forbid the beach!” They shared a soft laugh. “I mean, he enjoyed it, that’s for sure. But I mean, I was talkin’ more about all this,” she tapped at her forehead, “bein’ so here, ya’know?”
“It’s not like he was shy, Donna.”
“Yes, yes, and he was an insufferable show-off in the worst moments. Still, it just,” she shrugs, not sure how to formulate her thoughts and that was definitely very human of her, “it doesn’t feel quite right to just be larkin’ ‘round town and basically pluck out the Wikipedia page about city hall with a blink.”
“Because it’s your doing it, or because he’s not here?”
There went Martha again, being all understanding eyes and soft smiles. Her bedside manner was truly spectacular, and it just made her all the more brilliant a friend. What Donna would’ve given to have a friend like her when she was younger, a true reasonable and supportive person. Introspective talks like these never felt intrusive with her, they hadn’t in a very long time, and Donna was finding herself more receptive to analyzing her feelings than she thought. As she kept quiet, Martha extended the same courtesy, without so much as a blink of impatience.
Gwen came bounding up to them in that moment, fresh snow dusting her shoulders and making a pretty picture as it melted in her hair. Without asking, she squeezed between their bar stools and took a sip from Donna’s shake. “I found a super adorable bookstore, it’s maybe a ten minute walk from here. Are you guys ready? It’s also in a plaza with some clothing stores, and I wanna max out Donna’s card before dinner.”
“Oi!” Donna tugged at Gwen’s ponytail while Martha laughed. “Don’t you have your own money?”
“I cannot afford everything I want to buy.”
“Maybe you should budget like our self-made moneybags over here.” Martha smirked. “Though I don’t think another thou will make much difference to her.”
“Yes, you’re right.” Gwen’s nod was far too somber. Any scraps of severity were demolished as she slurped the last dredges of Donna’s shake before giving a loud sigh. “Guess I’ll have to spend two thousand.”
“Fuck off,” Donna said with all the hostility of a baby duck amid their laughter.
The second day is when the nefarious plan came to light. Breakfast had been at one of the resort restaurants, in the type of place that Donna would’ve been all aflutter stepping foot in years ago. But the atmospheric instrumental music, warm lighting, floor-to-ceiling windows, and softly spoken waitress had long been part of her daily routine. By extension, it was certainly more common in Gwen and Martha’s lives than a decade back. As such, they all knew better than too be as wickedly loud as normal, and the conversation was kept light— to a point.
“Sorry, snowboarding?”
“Yup, our rentals and instructor are scheduled to start at one, and,” Gwen paused to take a forkful of her omelet, “Eliza booked us for four hours.”
“Four hours?!” Her voice rose well above ‘indoor,’ and Martha motioned at her. “Are you flippin’ nuts, Gwen?” Her niece shrugged and kept eating. “I’m not snowboardin’ for four bloody hours, hard pressed to find me there for e’en one!”
“You can’t tell me you’ve never tried it.” Donna scoffed at Martha. “What did you do when you were here last?”
“Watch over a bunch of sixteen year olds.” She pointed a fork at Gwen, quickly adding, “And don’t say your lot wasn’t that bad or so help me God—” Gwen deflated, but grumbled under her breath before sipping her hot chocolate.
“It’s not that difficult, Donna. Plus, you’re not goin’ in blind. We’ve got an instructor.”
“I take it you’ve done this before,” she said dryly.
“Years ago, yeah! It’s loads of fun, believe me. It’s just like that game the arcade has, just with more wind around you.” Donna kept as blank an expression as possible as she buttered her croissant without looking down. “Oh, c’mon, you know the one! Gwen,” she turned to the younger girl, “she knows what I’m talking about right?”
Gwen sucked her teeth and gave a small shake. “I’ve literally never been able to get her into an arcade.”
For a brief moment, a second even, Martha’s face fell. But just as quick she smiled the way that doctors do when they know chances are slim but they have to keep moral up, and Donna narrowed her eyes. “Well, no matter. It’s all balance and coordination, and even if you fall a few times, it’s going t’be fun!”
It was not being fun. She ate snow too many times to count, the cold was well past her bones and into her soul, and she was certain her ass was going to be covered in bruises. Gwen had, naturally glided around like a professional, all sparkling eyes and reddened cheeks. She looked like the poster girl for the slopes as her red hair whipped around her, making her an easy dot to follow. Martha had needed just a slight assistance from the instructor, and if there wasn’t near a twenty year difference between them, Donna would have immediately accused her of having practiced recently.
“Donnaaaaa.” Gwen might be whining, but that smile is still plastered on her face. “Don’t be such a sourpuss.”
“I will be as sour as I damn well please.”
“Donna,” cut in Martha as she gracefully came up the side and looked like a damn movie star taking off her helmet, “we’ve only been here an hour.” Donna eyes bulged but Martha kept talking. “I think you might just be overthinking it. I mean, what if during your travels, you would’ve had to snowboard?”
“I would have gladly taken my role as bait.”
“No,” the word was very forceful and Donna scrunched her nose at it. “You would not. You would have given it your one hundred percent effort and been brilliant at it. I sincerely doubt you’re givin’ more than thirty percent.”
“Mrs. Temple-Noble,” the three swung their attention to the instructor, “I will agree that you could be putting just a little more enthusiasm into your attempts. Often times your success depends on your state of mind too, not just your state of body.”
“Thanks Jared, I’ll make sure to blame my mind when I snowball off the curve.” The instructor gave a sigh, the first (and certainly not last) break in his professional demeanor. “However, I am pushing fifty and my body doesn’t work like it used to before.”
Gwen hums a little ditty at her words, which Donna can’t place but Martha can. She gives the younger girl a slap to her shoulder and Gwen looks only slightly sheepish. They seem to have a silent talk in the next few moments while Donna might as well be climbing Jared in her attempts to stand up. If she wasn’t so worried about getting frostbite on her ass, she might have interrogated them about their charades game.
“Ya know, Sylvia had mentioned that Nerys was gonna go snowboarding this year.” Donna had been about to remove the snowboard when the mention of her best frenemy come out. Gwen continued a bit too offhandedly. “I think she’d said she wanted to invite you, but you don’t know how to snowboard, so it would’ve killed the mood. Isn’t that right, Martha?”
“When I talked to Veena, she wouldn’t shut up about it. She said that—”
“Shut up, shut up. I’m not goin’ to have that fuckin’ breadstick think she can do better. You know who taught her to roller skate? Me!” She huffed and pulled at the hem of her snow jacket. “I’ll shove this board up her arse before lettin’ her win this, Jared, let’s do this again, chop chop.”
She missed the fistbump shared between the younger women in all her blustering rage.
It doesn’t take Donna long after that to get the hang of it. She’s nowhere near the level of expertise that Gwen shows, but that’s fine. She can at least go down the beginners slopes with them and scream with laughter once they reach the bottom in one piece. Jared finishes his four hours with them, but they keep on going until they can’t deny the sun is setting and everyone is being instructed off the snow. She’s sure to be aching in the morning, but she’s smiling the entire time Martha and Gwen are recounting the day’s adventure over room service.
The third day is short given their late afternoon flight. They wake up late, make quick work of their packing, and set out for a casual lunch. They end up passing through a chocolate shop going back to the resort, and Donna nearly melts as she bites into her eclair.
“What would your trainer say?” Martha’s eyes are crinkled up as she teases. She takes Donna’s shove with a chuckle.
“Sod off, do you have any idea ‘ow many calories I burned yesterday? I more than deserve this.”
“Snowboarding is a great way to start.” Gwen kept her gaze straight ahead, even as she kept her arm linked to Donna’s. “It really makes your body and mind work together, and counts on a sense of timing too. Really makes you use your core the entire time without neglecting the rest of your body. You know what else does that?” She didn’t wait for Donna to respond. “Taekwondo, karate, jujitsu, or—”
“Oh my God, was that the whole point of this? To keep pushin’ your martial arts agenda?”
“She has a point.”
“Absolutely not!”
“What’s the harm in learning a little self-defense? You’re not really only workin’ in an office. You still come across aliens and thwart plans all the time.”
“And I have a trainer that makes sure I can still run away before they lay a hand on me.”
They bicker, two against one, pretty much the rest of the day until they have to check out. She gives in and calls Eliza on speaker phone while Gwen is still listing the mental benefits of martial arts. The assistant sounds properly confused when she says she wants to book gym space next week. The look of elated shock on Gwen’s face when Donna throws her the phone to request what’s needed almost makes the forthcoming torture worth it.
“Was that so hard, Donna?”
“You’re not getting’ off that easy, Martha, I’ll haul you outta the hospital myself if you don’t show up.”

There is no better way to get to know someone than through a good question tag. In this case we have decided to make an Indie game dev question tag with the responses of our four developers. We hope that it will reveal many unknowns, but if you are left with any questions, do not hesitate to use our ask.
What part of game development are you responsible for?
Athe: I write and write, I melt in my seat, I correct, I cry and then I program. It’s an endless cycle. Occasionally I laugh like crazy while I eat Pringles.
Sam: I draw and color without leaving the lines (almost always) the sprites, the illustrations and the ravings that usually occur to us past 3 in the morning.
Illy: English translations.
Sher: I draw BGs
What tools do you use (hardware / software)?
Athe: Recently my desktop PC has passed away, so I’ve had to rescue my old PC from the garage. I also have a laptop that saves my life more times than I would like to admit. As for the software, I need, above all, drive documents, video editing programs, image etc (I have an Adobe package) and of course Renpy and Atom.
Sam: My main friend and companion is my tablet, a wacom intuos S (pistachio color, so cute). As programs I mainly use the Paint Tool Sai, because there is nothing in this life like its stabilizer. And less frequently than I would like (for details, texture brushes, effects ...) I also use Clip Studio Paint, which I only know how to use at about 2% of its capacity ... If someday I have time I would love to stop and learn seriously what can be done with it.
Illy: During the school year I live in a residence, so I use an old laptop, and when I return home I use a desktop computer that never has memory space. I translate the chapters in the same Atom where the complete script is and I keep them in google drive files where I share them with our beta reader. I also use editing programs like photoshop when I have to translate comics or procreate for when my artistic skills are required.
Sher: ipad+procreate+some final tweak in photoshop, I don't need much more
What is your favorite part of the job?
Athe: Would it be wrong if I say that is when we released the episode? During the whole production time everything is very stressful, there are times when it’s really uphill, but when we release a new chapter it feels soooo good. It's like saying to yourself, yeah, dammit, I can do it. Look at everything you've climbed by yourself. You're doing it right.
Sam: In general, my favorite parts are when the first scenes start to be programmed, and I can see the sprites with the backgrounds, the texts, and how the illustrations look. Everything always looks so much better when viewed in-game… I also really like being able to check out the script as it is written. And from the artistic part that concerns me, when I see that my hands capture the idea that I had in my head ... Especially in character designs.
Illy: Having to find a way to translate very spanish expressions into English, research vocabulary that I have never had to use and commenting on some translations with our beta reader (which we adore) to make it understandable without losing the original meaning.
Sher: I like to do the lineart when the sketch is complete, if I no longer have to think about anything else and it's just going through it, I find it very fun and relaxing
What is the most difficult part for you?
Athe: Offf, yes, I admit it, sometimes writing is the WORST. Other times I love it, especially when I can expand on the descriptions or stop at a part that is intimate or that I find interesting (for example, Hasiel's conversation from 6.3, small spoiler: P). But, I HATE having to paste scenes, often the protagonist moves between scenes and you always have to add lines to those transitions that really do not interest anyone, but that otherwise the text would be confusing. Anyway... It is a very wide world, with a lot of history, I have to deal with what I need readers to know to understand the facts, although sometimes it gets a bit boring.
Sam: What part does not... Rather who e.e Zihel and Ariel are a thorn in my side. Especially Zihel. I know it has to do with the fact that it has never been my strength to draw boys, and much less if they are more masculine in appearance... That's why I also suffer a lot from drawing muscles. Another thing that brings me a headache is the perspective of the illustrations. Every time I try to get out of the typical shot or poses a little... It doesn't work out.
Illy: Doughy’s  stuttering ¬.¬
Sher: chairs, sofas, tables... anything with four legs is my enemy
Anything to help or encourage you while you are working?
Athe: I need music, no, seriously, I NEED IT. I’m unable to focus without it. If, on top of that, I can get what I hear to act as a sounding board for what I write, the text is a thousand times better... But the muse is a pretty bad person.
Sam: Having a show/movie in the background that entertains me. The longer the better, so I don't have to stop to think what I want to put on next.
Illy: Eating sunflower seeds to trick my brain and not be tempted to do something else that distracts me.
Sher: I try to see other artists to motivate and inspire me before I start drawing, what I find most difficult is that initial push and that is where I need the motivation, then I usually have something in the background but it is not necessary
Something that’s a pet peeve or discouraging?
Athe: Some narrative climax moments. Generally, they are not important plot moments (that is almost entirely decided), they are often small decisions to go from scene A to scene B, but I can spend a LOT of time deciding which is the fastest and best way to tie those two ends. I'm the worst.
Sam: Many times when starting, I can't get the poses to fit the way I want, for example.
Illy: Finding many parts in a row that I find especially difficult to solve and that make me believe that I have forgotten how to English properly. And looking at how many lines I still have left.
Sher: When I don't know how to fill in some area, if I see something very empty but I don't know how to solve it, I can spend days looking at the screen without being able to advance, even if I have other areas that I could do in the meantime
What is required on your table or work surface?
Athe: Notebooks, sticky notes, pens… I’m a person who writes everything down, especially the tasks, but I also order the story by color schemes. The stack of sticky notes have 9 different colors, each one represents a character and I play a lot with them for a lot of nonsense. Besides, even though I have been writing on the computer for many more years than I wrote by hand, I still have a preference for the analogical.
Sam: Coffee, sweets, chocolate, cereals... And cats.
Illy: My phone, the sunflower seeds, a Capital America: Civil War 1L water cup, sticky notes that remind me of tasks.
Sher: I have nothing really lol all my things are for decoration
Your most productive hours?
Athe: Owl. Totally nocturnal. Although I have several crises a month to force myself to work at other times that always end... Wrong.
Sam: Also at night for the most part, although I can no longer stay awake as long as I endured before having a job (the good old days...) However, in the middle of the afternoon, when the zoo that I have at home is still taking a nap, I also manage to go a long way.
Illy: From when I finish eating until 7 or 8 in the afternoon, when I don't have to cook, clean, run errands...
Sher: I take over for Illy apparently, from 7 or 8 is when I start to get into the mood until bedtime
Do working hours make you forget to eat or make you eat twice as much?
Athe: It depends, in the past I ate a lot, now if I have stress I don't eat anything. If I'm in a normal productive phase and I'm not on my nerves, I'm probably eating by inertia.
Sam: They make me eat more, but especially junk food e.e And they make me forget healthy meals, especially dinner at night.
Illy: It depends on my mood, but I usually eat twice as much.
Sher: I'm generally a VERY distracted person so I don't usually get to focus on a task to get to either of those two modes but I guess when I am sooooooo much on the task, I forget. But that happens like a couple of times a year and "forgetting" is "I delay an hour."
What part of your set up would you improve / change (in aesthetics or functionality) if you had no money limit?
Athe: I'm trying to match some of my peripherals with the rest. They are all a damn different color, apparently I'm cursed... Now seriously, I wish I had a better graphic card that would allow me to make video captures, some speakers and a quality printer.
Sam: Actually, I don't think I need anything more complex than what I already have… But if I had to improve something, I'm curious about the most professional tablets, the big ones with the included screen and all that stuff.
Illy: A new laptop that lets me open 4 chrome tabs, Atom and photoshop at the same time without dying.
Sher: A pc screen that will not change the colors I use on the iPad would be nice, really
Which character are you most like? And why?
Athe: Phew I think the easy answer would be to say Akane ... But, Akane is a better person. : P
Sam: This is very difficult... They are all very different, but still I do not think I look much like any of them. If I have to say something, I could identify with Maske's tendency to avoid problems, and his more homey and calm side. And well… Since Akane has been an OC of mine for many years, surely I have something of her too.
Illy: I think I partly have Maske's instinct to stay out of trouble, and on the other hand Joe's shallowness, although tbh I wish I really did look like any of our awesome babies.
Sher: surprised because (unpopular opinion around here) is one of those who I "least care" about really but I would say that Pin because he is a little dumb, happy and probably has a Satanic room and proud of it
Favorite CG/art.
Athe: AT THE MOMENT. Maske chapter 1. It couldn't be more predictable. I know.
Sam: I quite agree with Maske in chapter 1. But I would also put Pin in chapter 5 and Akane in chapter 6.2 on the top.
Illy: Kyeran in Coco's tank ?? Is he even real? Being basic is my brand.
Sher: surprised again and disappointed but I would say that of angel Hasiel because I like pretty dresses, pretty hairs and pretty wings
Favorite BG/scene.
Athe: The Red Light District amazes me. I already liked the life of that place, its history, but the way of expressing it... Uggg Sher took it to another level. The dirt on the street, the night, the constricted buildings...
Sam: I think I’ll say Raziel’s square, I like it a lot from the first day.
Illy: I don't know if I can choose just one T__T but I would say that the Red Light District and Valefar's pub are at the top.
Sher: for not repeating the red light district that I also like very much, I really like the areas of Coco's laboratory, including the “main” area although the perspective is horrible and makes the characters look tiny, but I like how it looks :(
Your favorite chapter to date?
Athe: Ufff... The first and second one I assure you no, hahaha. I will say that the third one, but also for things that are not necessarily from the chapter, but of the production. It was a good moment. I felt that everything was flowing with ease. We all assumed a clear role, they were times that made us feel comfortable and capable of assuming what came next, I think it was a qualitative leap also, both in texts and in art.
Sam: Oh. Well let's see... Chapter 5 is amazing for me, for everything that happens but also because there are many personalized interactions and choices. I can't say I have a definitive favorite, but it could come close… Also from the last ones I really like the 6.2.
Illy: Chapter 5 has so many details, so many things happen, it's hard not to be my favorite. But the last ones with the specific routes are so great that if I stay with the 5 it’s with the  pain of my heart to have to choose one.
Sher: I would say 5 also because in the end when a lot of things happen is when you remember the most

Illy: Las traducciones a inglés.
Sher: Hago fonditos
Sam: Qué parte no… No sale bien.
Athe: Los nudos narrativos.
Y mirar cuantas líneas me quedan todavía.
Athe: Libretas, post-its, bolígrafos…
Sam: Ay. Pues a ver…
