There was a ridiculous sort of homeliness to the stout little house Yelena stood in front of. Long plants dangled from the slanted roofs, and the bulbous lamp hanging by the door glowed a merry shade of amber. Even the doormat was endearing, a shoddy brown scratcher with a black imprint of a cat’s paw in the center. Yelena wiped the soles of her combat boots against it, blowing out a deep breath she hadn’t realized she was holding.
Places like this—places that reeked of home and warmth—they weren’t made for people like her. At least, that was what she was conditioned into believing her entire life. People like her didn’t deserve to have a home.
But her sister had broken the cycle. She’d escaped. They were one and the same as children—a statue and its shadow—and yet they’d gone down vastly different paths in life. Natasha found a new family, she’d found love, she’d found a home. What did Yelena have?
And that’s what made it all the stranger for Yelena to be standing in front of this little house. A part of her was afraid that if she stepped inside, it would crumble apart in front of her.
It was her sister’s home, and yet she was afraid to linger. The house that her sister used to live in before she… before…
Yelena screwed her lips off to the side and bit the inside of her cheek.
Before she could change her mind, she rapped her knuckles against the polished wood of the door thrice. Two more times after that for good measure. The doorbell was right there, Yelena noticed a little too late.
When the entrance creaked open, the blonde had to grit her teeth and keep her feet planted, because a large part of her wanted to turn and run. Yelena Belova had been on the run for a large part of her life. So much of her childhood was lost to the wind of discreet cars and disguises. She couldn’t stomach the idea of facing something real and something true.
Your face peered out from behind the door, features curious and softened with exhaust. For a moment, she could see the scientist in you: the way your gaze darted all over her, searching for clues as to who she was. Trying to piece together the puzzle that was Yelena Belova.
Quite a few pieces were missing from that puzzle. Yelena was sure it’d never be complete, really.
“Hello. I’m sorry, who are you?” you asked, brows cinching together.
You were beautiful, even with the fatigue weighing over your shoulders, even with the tender skin beneath your eyes that darkened with tears and lost sleep. Yelena could see why her sister loved you so much.
When the blonde in front of you whispered her name, you took a slight step back. From shock or from fear, Yelena couldn’t quite tell.
A spark of recognition danced over your countenance. You’d seen faded pictures of your wife and her sister when they were children. She had the same eyes as that child. The same hair, the same nose, the same lips. But people change, faces morph, and personalities are discarded. You could never be too careful. After all—your wife was a widow.
“Prove it,” you murmured.
Yelena leveled her eyes with you. Then, she let out the shrill, two-toned whistle. The one Natasha would do to signal to you, to Clint, to her loved ones.
A lump formed in your throat, and tears pricked the corners of your eyes. You stepped to the side and muttered a quiet apology, inviting her to come into your home.
Yelena stomped her boots against the welcome mat twice, not wanting to be a rude guest by tracking mud all over the floors, and slipped into the house. Her sister’s home.
There were fragments of Natasha everywhere. In the framed pictures, in her initials embroidered into the handcloths in the kitchen, in the rows of linguistic books lining the bookshelves.
You were anxiously twisting your hands together, studying the way Yelena took everything in. Noticing that her eyes were lingering on the books, you ventured to tell her, “She was learning Arabic. During the Blip, that is. Got pretty decent at it, actually.”
Before she could think of a reply, maybe a rather petty retort that Yelena already knew Arabic, a curious meow broke her attention away from you, down to the ground. There was a little black cat pattering its way to her, eyes shining and ears pricked.
“You have a cat?” she murmured, lowering herself to her knees so she could reach out and ruffle its small head.
“Liho was Nat’s birthday present. Well, one of her presents,” you said, a faint smile twitching the corner of your lips at the memory of the failed collapsible motorbike. There was a brief moment of silence, all quiet except for Liho’s pleased purring. “You want a cup of tea?” you eventually asked, gesturing to the kitchen.
She gave you a nod, and you whisked away, grateful for something to occupy yourself with. Yelena found herself studying the house more—the pictures, the mirrors, the lights. It all screamed her sister.
Some of the photos had famous Avengers on them, and Yelena couldn’t help but smile. Her sister, the famous Avenger who saved the world. Her eyes flickered over to you as you brought out a teapot and two mugs. A part of her wondered what you were doing when Natasha had died. Were you off saving the world, too? You murmured something under your breath as you scuttled back to the kitchen to fetch some sugar.
“Please, take a seat,” you said kindly, gesturing to the chair across from you. You poured the drink for her and slid it over the table for her to take. Yelena dropped three cubes of sugar into the mug with an appreciative hum. “So, uh… what happened? Were you—were you blipped?”
“Yes,” she sighed out, blowing at the far-too-hot drink over the brim of the mug. “Five years of life, gone in a blink of an eye. You?”
The two of you watched each other for some time. She lifted the cup to drink, finally. It was damn good tea. There was a citrusy, lemony sort of flavor to it.
“I was part of the half that stayed. Nat and I… we were lucky to have each other. She buried herself in her work. I had—I mean, I didn’t really have work to do anymore. Not with most people I used to work for gone.” After a longer pause, you tilted your head. “Natasha searched everywhere for you. Everywhere. She never—she never stopped looking.”
A lump formed in Yelena’s throat.
“Yeah?” she murmured.
“Yeah.” A tear slipped down your cheek and you didn’t bother to wipe it away. Instead, you smiled. “She loved you so much, Yelena.”
She sucked a cold breath through her gritted teeth and sniffled. “What was she like?”
There were a few seconds of silence. You pondered on her question for quite some time. How were you supposed to summarize your entire world in just a few sentences?
“She was incredible. In every way, really. Smart, beautiful, funny, level-headed. But most of all, she was kind. I think that’s what threw a lot of people off about her. They know she’s an ex-assassin, and she’s not exactly a trusting person… and I guess it’s easy to make assumptions about her with just that. But she was so kind.” You had to pause to swallow around the lump in your throat. “She was patient and understanding. For her to… to sacrifice everything and leave the universe while saving it—that’s the Natasha I know.”
Yelena blew her nose into a tissue when you pushed a box of Kleenex towards her. “I’m here because of her. She’s… she’s a hero.”
“She is.”
With a watery laugh, Yelena said through her tears, “I tried to kill her friend. Your friend, too, I’m guessing. Clint Barton. I was told that he killed her.”
A grim expression flickered over your face as you pursed your lips. “Yeah. He told me. Didn’t sound too happy over the phone. But… he’s doing alright. Has his own little sidekick now, from what I gathered during the call.”
“Kate Bishop,” Yelena said with a mirthful glint to her eyes. “She hit me in the face, you know.”
You arched a brow. “Did you deserve it?”
Yelena frowned and lifted a shoulder in a sheepish shrug. “Probably.”
The two of you grinned at each other, cheeks damp.
Then, her beam melted away. “I didn’t want to believe that Natasha was selfish enough to sacrifice herself to save half of the entire world. Ironic, right?”
You traced the rim of your mug with a finger. “I remember the day it happened. They each came back from the past in a blink of an eye. Except the space beside Clint was empty. Steve caught me before I could fall to the ground when I realized what she’d done.”
“All these powerful heroes,” Yelena whispered. Her voice warbled and swayed, like a feather amidst a hurricane. “And the one that saved the universe was my big sister. She had no powers. Just her and her stupidly big heart.”
“And decades of training,” you added on.
“Yeah. That, too.” Yelena’s shoulders began to shake. “I just miss her so much.”
Abandoning your drink, you got up from the table and stepped to Yelena, pulling her into a warm hug. She began to tremble harder under your grip, winding her arms around you, seeking solace in your warmth.
“She missed you, too,” you murmured. An overwhelming sense of protectiveness washed over you. “I hope you know that you’re always welcome here, Yelena. You’re my sister now, too.”
After a second, Yelena sputtered an apology and slumped back, wiping her tears away with the back of her hand. “Sorry. I’m so bad at this. Emotions and all that crap.”
“That’s okay,” you told her, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder.
Yelena could see why Natasha loved you so much. You were kind like her.
“I grew up in a fake family. None of it was ever real, even if it felt like it was. But Natasha… she was always real to me. Now that she’s gone, the only real part of my life went with her, as well. And you—you’re real. Real to Natasha. And I… I know we just met, but I want you to be real for me, too. Not only as my sister’s spouse, but… as a friend, a sibling. I’d like to try.”
You gave her a warm smile, and reached out to pat her cheek twice, wiping the dampness away with your thumb. “I’d like that, Yelena.”
The two of you embraced again, and she nearly burst into tears upon realizing that you were the first person she’d hugged since she was blipped away.
“Did Natasha ever tell you how she broke my nose when we were kids?” she asked into the fabric of the hoodie you were wearing.
You pulled away with a skeptical gaze. “She told me you broke your own nose.”
The blonde laughed, low and chesty. “Man, do I have a lot of stories to tell you.”

You sighed as you flipped another page on your book, a pink highlighter on your hand and a bunch of loose pages resting in your lap. Were you studying on a friday night again? Yes. Sure, you had promised to yourself that this kind of nerdy behaviour would be left behind in high school, but who could blame you? It's not like you had anything else to do and you actually enjoyed studying.
- Oh, absolutely not. - a familiar voice with a thick accent sounded behing you and you smiled.
- Hey, Yelena. - you turned your head towards the voice, seeing the blonde girl climbing out the window. - Nice to see you're home again. And still unable to use the door.
- I already told you, sometimes I need to climb the window so I can make sure that no one else can climb the window. It is science. Just like your book. - she said, taking off her shoes and coat, her cheeks red from the cold weather. - Now, what are you doing reading a book? When I left, a whole week ago, you were doing that exact same thing.
- Well, I have to. It’s called studying. And if it helps, it was a different book last week. - you answered, watching as the blonde went straight for the kitchen. - But I wanna know about you. Your super secret mission went well? Where were you, after all? Now you can tell me, right?
- Bolivia. And yes, it went well. No one blew me up and it was not for lack of trying. - she said, frowning at the refrigerator. - Now, tell me, Y/N, this studying of yours does not require eating? There’s nothing in here.
- I was planning on ordering something later and I didn’t know you were coming home today. - you said, finally closing the book and resting your head against the armchair. - What do you mean they were trying to blow you up? Are you okay?
- Peachy. - Yelena said, sitting on the sofa. - I wasn’t even shot this time. It’s a big win.
- I don’t think I’ll ever get used to this. - you glanced at her with your eyes a little widened. You still remembered when, a year ago, Yelena showed up holding your announcement and asking if you were the one looking for a roommate. At the time, you didn’t knew you were getting a best friend and a giant headache all in one person. - You know, every time you leave I get worried sick.
- That is very sweet, Y/N Y/L/N, but you don’t have to worry. I am the best, so yeah, no danger here. - she smiled and you held back a laugh. Yelena could be so unintentionally conceited sometimes. - Now, will you please stop with the books, order some pizza and watch a movie with me? I missed you a lot.
- Own, Lena, I missed you too! - your heart melted at the russian’s words, smiling at her. - I’ll just bring this stuff to my room and then we can watch anything you’d like, okay?
She agreed with her head and you piled up all your books, papers and pens and carried them to your room, leaving it all on your desk. Fishing a blanket out of your closet, you picked up your phone and went back to the living room, sitting comfortably in the armchair again as you dialed the number of the pizza place you guys always ordered from.
- The pizza will be here in 40 minutes! - you yelled to make sure Yelena would hear you and went back to your phone, waiting for the girl to come back.
A few minutes later, she showed up in sweatpants and a My Little Pony white t-shirt, her hair wet and carrying a sweet lavender smell. She used your shampoo, but you didn’t really care, just watching as she practically fell onto the couch, resting her head against the pillows.
- So, what are we watching? - you asked, toying with the remote.
- Can we watch the one with the sirens again? You know, the one with the song that was stuck in my head for like a month? - she asked with big puppy eyes.
- Barbie A Mermaid Tale? - you asked with a laugh. Yelena was a big Barbie fan, but she specifically loved this one. - I think we’ve seen this at least five times.
- Please? It’s my favorite! - she pleaded, holding her hands together. - I love the evil fish.
- Okay, okay. But I’ll choose the next one.
- YES! - she exclaimed in pure delight, making you laugh again. If there was something you loved about Yelena, was her almost childlike joy about the little things in life. It was adorable.
You were about to press play when she cleared her throat, making you look in her direction only to find her already staring at you, brows furrowed.
- What? - you asked, a little confused.
- Aren’t you forgetting something? - she asked, rolling her eyes at your absolutely lack of perception. - Cuddling, Y/N Y/L/N, you’re forgetting the most important part of a movie marathon. Get your ass on this couch right now.
You couldn’t help but smile as you got up, laying beside the blonde on the couch and throwing your blanket over the two of you. It wasn’t long until Yelena’s arm was around your waist and the russian’s cheek was resting against your head. You hummed in contentment, feeling relaxed and warm and safe, like you always were with her.
- Now you can start. - she said simply as she placed a kiss against your forehead, making your heart melt all over again.
- It’s nice to have you home. - you said softly, grabbing the blonde’s hand and kissing her knuckles. - You know I love you, right?
- Yeah, you big softie, I love you too. - she said rolling her eyes as she kissed your cheek. - Now shush, my movie is starting.
You just smiled, too enthralled in the feeling of being in Yelena’s arms. She was home now, and it was all that mattered. After all, she was your home.

Hi! Would I be able to request a fic for coming out to Yelena Belova (MCU. Sorry for spelling on last name) as Aroace, please?
oh absolutely! I know there's some discourse about whether Yelena herself is "technically" aroace or not but I personally believe she is, so this fic (and everything I write with her) will reflect that. I'm not aroace so if there's anything inaccurate please let me know and I'll make sure to change it. hope you like it! <3
A Lot More Similar (platonic! Yelena Belova x reader)
Warnings: Yelena calls the reader "dude" but it's meant in a casual gender neutral way, very brief and mild swearing, Yelena and the reader drink beer in this
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Hey, Yelena, can I talk to you about something?" You asked somewhat nervously, giving her a glance.
You were both sitting on the couch watching trashy reality TV and making fun of the people on it when you were suddenly hit with the urge to come out to her. You figured that now was as good of a time as ever, and that you were as ready as you'd ever be.
"Yeah, sure. What's up?" She asked casually, not having noticed how nervous you were.
You took a deep breath, trying to collect your thoughts before continuing. "I- I think I'm aroace. Actually, no, that's wrong. I am aroace." You tried to be confident when you spoke, even though you were terrified to hear her reaction.
Much to your surprise, she just shrugged and said, "Okay."
"Really?" You asked in confusion.
Yelena snorted in laughter before responding. "No, I hate you. Get out of my house." She said sarcastically while pointing towards the door.
You had to laugh, realizing just how ridiculous it was for anyone to not be accepted just for being themself. "Wait, but seriously, though. You're really okay with it?"
"Yeah, dude, of course." She took a swig of her beer before leaning back on the sofa again. "Why would I have a problem with it? Hell, I'm aroace."
"You are?" It was difficult to hide the surprise in your voice, causing Yelena to laugh again.
"Of course I am. I mean, it's not something I like to make a big deal of, but I don't exactly plan on really hiding it, either."
You nodded your head as you started to understand where Yelena was coming from. "Yeah, that makes sense. I guess we're a lot more similar than I thought."
She made a sound of agreement. "Yup, we're both aroace, we both like pizza and beer, and we both hate crappy reality shows."
Laughing, you held up your beer bottle. "I'll drink to that."
Yelena smiled, lifting up her own drink. "Cheers."

I’m the cool aunt; Yelena Belova x child reader
*Author’s note*
This took me a bit due to work and life schedule but I finally came around and decided to do this sweet little request for @zinziekusworld who wanted a Yelena Belova x child reader.  Now this is my first time writing for Yelena so I HOPE I did her justice cause really she’s like my FAV female heroine character next to Wanda and Natasha.
Not really any warnings what so ever except maybe a couple of swear words but really this is a FLUFFY FIC where Nat is ALIVE and she is HAPPY as is Yelena continuing saving the other Widows. Enjoy my lovelies until the next oneshot comes out.

__________________________________________________________
Today was a special day.  According to mama, she told me that I would be meeting my Aunt for the first time today since she was here in Ohio and right now I was making a special card for her since this will be the first time meeting her.
“Whatcha doin (Y/n)?” asked my bestest friend in the whole world, Michelle.
“I’m making a card for my auntie. I’m going to be meeting her for the first time today.”
“Wow really, that’s great!” she exclaimed.
“Your aunt’s coming over?” asked my other bestest friend Cera asked.  “That’s not good.”
“What do you mean?” I asked her as I paused my coloring.
“Aunts are nothing but trouble.” She said.  “Whenever my aunt comes over, she always pinches and squeezes my cheeks so hard they’re end up red for a really long time.”
“She’s right. When my aunt comes over, I get covered in her old, nasty aunt spit when she kisses me.” Our other friend Tyler came over to say.
“I don’t think so guys. When my aunt comes over, she brings me presents from all the places she’s been to.” Michelle said.
“Well that’s only one cool aunt that I know of. I heard from Cory that his aunt only gives out mints and toothbrushes for Halloween.” Tyler said.
“And Shanice’s aunt only screams and yells. Trust me, she lives in my neighborhood and when he aunt comes over, everybody knows she’s there.” Cera said.
“Do—do you really think my aunt will be any of those things?”
“Trust me (Y/n), it’s better you don’t get your hopes up. Like I said, aunts are nothing but trouble.” Cera said before walking off with Tyler behind her.
“Don’t listen to her, sometimes Cera doesn’t know what she’s talking about.”
“But then sometimes she does. Remember when she told Derek not to climb up the fence above the batter’s box but he did it anyway.”
“Well Derek’s a jerk and doesn’t listen to anyone.”
“Yeah but remember he ended up screaming his head off and said that she was right. And he never admits to being wrong.”
“Still I wouldn’t let it bother you, I hope you and your aunt get to be good friends with each other. Just like me and my aunt.” She then ran off leaving me to my desk alone looking down at my card nervously.
I was now walking with the rest of the Blue walkers heading away from the school and to our crosswalk that would lead us to the library across the street where all the parents were waiting for us.
The crossing guard soon stepped forward and held up the stop sign as well as held out her hands to get the cards to stop and allow us to walk across the street.  I waved by to Michelle who was picked up by her older sister and I proceeded to walk the rest of the way home (mom made sure that our neighborhood was the safest one in the whole town. Yes she’s the neighborhood watch Captain in case you’re wondering).
It only took a few minutes from the library to arrive at my house. It’s like your basic house, 2 levels, a good backyard, a built-in playground and a good enough space to put up the pool during the summer time.  I punched in the code to unlock the door and I heard the click telling me it was correct then I opened the door.
“Mama I’m home from school!” I called out but there was no response.  I walked further into the house and called out again, “Mom?”
“She ran to the store to get some mac and cheese.” Quickly thinking I took off my shoe and tossed toward the voice but a hand caught it, and peeking out from behind her hand she sung out. “Hi.”
Tumblr media
She was fairly young, younger than my mom, had blonde hair and wore a brown jacket, a yellow shirt and black jeans.  Rings decorated her fingers and she had greenish, blue eyes.
“Quick reflexes. Reminds me at that age.” She said as she tossed my shoe to the couch.  “Either she taught you how to do that or you’re just naturally gifted.”
“Who are you?”
“I’m Yelena. I’m an old friend of you mom’s. Old, old friend. And before you make any old people’s joke, I’m not that old!” going by the Russian accent alone, maybe she was one of the former widows my mom helped save long before she adopted me.
“Were you one of the widows?” she looked down solemnly.
“I don’t do that anymore. But yes. We—we knew each other back then. Hell even longer than that you could say.” I looked her up and down and asked.
“How did you get into our house? It’s a secret lock only mom and I know.”
“I was a former widow, breaking into homes was kinda my specialty. Not proud of it but still it’s a skill set. And your mama is too predictable even when she thinks she isn’t.” Yelena said as she sat down at the dinner table, her feet crossed over one another and resting up against the table.
“And I’m supposed to just—believe you?”
“Good reflexes and smart. I like that you’re a good kid.” She said with a slight smile.  “Look you can choose to believe me or not the point is you’ll be needing someone to look after you till your mom comes back so—why not?”
“And when my mom does come back and sees you, will she just accept that?”
“Oh she’s definitely cool with that. Like I said, we practically grew up together. So kiddo, what would you like to do first? You into games? Cause I’ve been trying out that uhh—what do they call it uhh—Mario kart? Yeah, yeah and I’ve gotten pretty good at it. Kate Bishop still hasn’t forgiven me for beating her when she played that dinosaur guy.”
“You mean Yoshi?”
“That’s its name? Yeesh terrible name for a dinosaur.”
“Yoshi’s a great character!”
“Well if you wish to prove me wrong, how about we play for it?” she said pulling out Super Mario kart.  I went over and turned on the Nintendo and then grabbed the two switches consoles and handed her the blue one.  “Give me the red one.” She said.
“But I always use the red one.”
“But I am the guest/babysitter so you have to do what I say, less I tattle-tale you to your mom.” I grumbled and handed her the red Nintendo switch console and she did a soft cheer while I got the blue one.  “Okay so you be that Yoshi lame dino and I’ll be the main guy Mario.”
“Fine with me. And we’ll do my favorite track, Ghost valley.”
“Ooo spooky. You sure you won’t get too scared?” she teased me.
“Will you?” she laughed.
“Smart, quick reflexes and sassy. I’m really liking you kid.” I started up the course and when the countdown began we both made our characters go as fast as they could.
Every twist and turn we made and trying to surpass the other, of course she had to cheat by first covering nudging my side and then tried to make me drop my switch, in the end Yelena won the first round.
“That’s not fair you cheated.”
“No, no it was the ghosts. We were in a haunted valley after all, you know ghosts can pop out of the screens and screw with you. Like this one movie I saw that I may show you.”
“I doubt it. My mom doesn’t allow me to watch scary movies, even though I saw JAWS like a hundred times.”
“The shark movie? Please that’s not scary.”
“It is if you don’t know what lurks in the ocean. Have you seen the way sharks blend with the water?”
“Okay I’ll give you that. But if it were up to me, I’d let you watch scary movies.”
“That’s—wait you’re diverting the conversation of the fact you cheated!”
“Okay so that was a lie, I did cheat. But why not make it two out of three?”
“How about we raise the stakes?” I challenged.
“What do you have in mind?” she asked with a raised brow.
“Well tonight is vegetable night, loser has to eat a double serving of broccoli and asparagus.”
“Eww oh what has your mother done to you? But you’re on kid!” we shook on it and restarted the race to which I won the second round and she won the third.
It was down to the wire with this last race.  Two more turns would decide who would win and who would have to suffer the defeat of double helpings of the disgusting broccoli and asparagus.
“I’m home! (Y/n)?”
“In here mom!” I exclaimed leaning further inward as I shoved Yelena’s leg.
“Hey you little stinker that’s cheating!”
“Like how you tickled me to win the last round!?” I mocked.
“What’s going on here?” I heard mom say.
“Can’t talk Natasha. One more turn and I beat the kid in ghost racing.” Yelena said.
“In your dreams, take this!” I knocked into Mario’s kart which gave me a lead start.
“You little—alright then if it’s dirty you want, it’s dirty you’ll get.” She then suddenly got a power boost and turned on the oil slick trying to get me to slow down and spin out of control.  Unfortunately for her I knew this trick (mom does it to me all the time) so I went up along the walls and sped forward.
“Ahh no way!” she exclaimed as I got in front of her.
“How long have you guys been playing this game?” mom asked us.
“I don’t know what time is it now?” Yelena asked.
“Yes I win!” I stood up and cheered as I was claimed the winner and Yoshi did his little victory dance.
“Noooo!!!!” Yelena cried out as she collapsed along the couch. I copied Yoshi’s dance before turning towards her.
“Told you Yoshi was the best!”
“Well I’m glad to see you’ve been bonding with your aunt while I was shopping.”
Wait what?  I looked at my mom in shock and she nodded.  I turned back to my babysitter who removed the pillow from her face and she once again sung.
“Hi~!”
“You’re my aunt?” I asked.
“Yep.” She said popping the p.
“Wait you didn’t tell her?” mom asked.
“She didn’t ask me if I was her aunt. Plus I thought you told her I was coming.”
“I did.” Mom exclaimed.
“So what did you just—never show a picture of me or something?”
“Wait, wait, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, hold on time out!” I said making the time out sign with my hands.  “If you’re my aunt, then—you’re really fun after all?”
“Who said I wasn’t fun?” she gawked offendedly.
“Well, one of my friends said that aunts are nothing but trouble and are boring, sometimes cranky or always screaming.” Yelena’s mouth dropped and she said.
Tumblr media
“I never do anything like that. Plus I am not boring I’m way to talented than that. Did we not just have fun playing the Mario kart game just now?”
“Yeah. But you still lost so that does make you slow.” I laughed.
“Oh yeah?” she suddenly grabbed me and pulled me into her lap as she proceeded to tickle me.  I shrieked and laughed as she taunted me. “Am I slow still? Huh?”
“Stohahap! STOP IHIHIHIHT!!!”
“I’m sorry I couldn’t hear you, I think my old ears might be in the fritz.”
“Alright Yelena that’s enough let her breathe.” My aunt stopped tickling me.
“Not only a poser but you’re a party pooper as well.” She muttered to my mom.
“What was that?”
“Nothing, nothing.” She said louder before looking down at me and winked which made me giggle softly.  “I’m the fun aunt. And that’s what I want to be for you kid. What do you say?”
“I say my bestest friend Michelle was right. Aunts can be fun.”
“Of course, I’m fun, cool, and a total badass.”
“Please don’t swear in front of her Yelena. I’m trying to not teach her bad habits.” Mom said as she began to unpack some of the groceries.
“More like trying to not get me to swear so that uncle Steve doesn’t faint again.” I whispered to her which made her laugh.
“So are any of you gonna help me unpack the groceries or do I have to do everything myself?” mom asked.  I bounced off the couch and trotted over to help her put away some of the lighter stuff while aunt Yelena said she would ‘supervise’ (which basically meant taking a soda and drinking it while mom and I did all the work).
When dinner came around the corner (as promised) I gave my aunt Yelena my broccoli and asparagus to which she whined.
“I thought kids were supposed to forget about bets like that?”
“Not this kid. Now eat up aunt Yelena, it’s good for you mom says so, don’t you mom?”
“Yes indeed. As did our adoptive parents, come on Yelena, you got out of it when you were a kid but you’re not getting out of eating your veggies now.” Mom taunted her.
“Suka.” Yelena muttered under her breath.
“Language.”
“Hey mom can you pass the hot sauce?” I asked.  She reached over for the hot sauce and handed it to me.
“You do hot sauce with your mac and cheese too?” aunt Yelena asked me.
“Oh yeah, I love hot sauce.”
“Respect kid.” She held out her fist and I gave her a fist bump back.  “Maybe I should take you with me and raise you as my daughter. We got like sooo much in common.”
“Like I’d let that happen.” Mom piped in.
“Kidding. You know I wouldn’t do that to you Natasha.” She said before hiding her lips but mouthed off to me before lightly gesturing. ‘You and me, out by morning.’ She gave me another wink before she went back to her broccoli.  “In fact kid give me the hot sauce now, feels like the only thing that can help with this torture. And I’ve been through a lot of torture.”
“No need to scar my daughter for life about your missions and assignments.”
“I don’t know, maybe might have an exciting story to tell her of the places I’ve been, the people I’ve met. What do you say kiddo?”
“I’d like to hear about it. Michelle’s aunt tells her about her trips around the world.”
“Fine but I’m gonna be monitoring the rating of these stories.” Mom said.
“Mom! I’m not 3 years old anymore!” I complained.
“Doesn’t matter how old you get, you’ll always be my little girl. And if I don’t want you exposed to certain things until you’re a certain age, then that’s one of your house rules.”
“Lighten up Natasha, I promise I’ll keep it G rated.” She gave me another wink telling me she’d fill me in on more details after bedtime.
It’s official, I have the coolest aunt in the world and I wouldn’t trade her for anything in the world.

dating yelena headcanons
Requested by @tinydeanhandsfarm
Tumblr media
i feel like nat would set you two up bc of how oblivious/nervous the two of you are
not before giving you a stern warning (threatening your life) to not hurt her little sister
yelena is a little shocked but relieved that you share feelings for her
at first she’s a bit closed off but opens up once she knows you’re really there for her
she needs a lot of assurance :)
she isn’t experienced in relationships so usually you just straight up tell her if something is bothering you in the relationship to avoid miscommunications and arguments
if you complain to her about your work, coworkers, or just having a bad day, she’s already up and asking who she needs to kill
she’s not big on pda, the occasional brush of your hands by hers and lingering gazes leave her wanting more
when you’re in private though she loves to cup your cheeks to kiss you firmly
you love playing with her rings when you two hold hands
you end up wearing some of them
they remind you of her whenever you’re alone and absentmindedly fiddle with them
she buys matching vests for you (and fanny)
when you two spend the night in, she’ll put on some random show and play with your hair while snuggled up on the couch
you convince her to braid your hair
in turn she lets you do her makeup
whenever she comes back from missions and meets you she envelopes you in such a firm hug and buries her face in your neck murmuring how much she misses you
after, there’s always some small souvenir she gives you, she says they reminded her of you during her missions
you have a small area in your home just for those souvenirs
yelena wants to experience things she never got to as a child, so you love taking her to the movies, festivals, and silly little adventures
when her face lights up during these dates>>>
sometimes you wake up at 3 AM to find her in the kitchen making mac n cheese and listening to old 80s music
of course you join her
A/N: send in more requests!

First of all, love your stuff!!! Your time and passion are always appreciated, so don’t ever doubt that, please.
Secondddd I have a request if you’d like…
Yelena x f reader
Best friends- you’re in love with her, but she can’t reciprocate your feelings. And how would it go down after your confession?
No worries if not though! Lots of love to you!
🥺 angel thank you so much. this was hella angsty to write
the confession would catch yelena offguard. probably bc she's never been in a situation where she's given anything like that a second thought, so the possibility just never crosses her mind
and don't be mistaken: yelena does love you. she loves you more anything in the world and she would rain hell on anyone who hurts you but she's not in love with you
love is just too complicated for her. she's gone through so much effort to be able to build and navigate friendships, let alone anything more.
it hurts her a little, actually. because if there's anyone in the world she thinks she could fall in love with, it would be you. it's just that she doesn't want to risk the friendship because you mean far too much to her
yelena would take a few days away for herself
but she'd also make it clear that it's only because she needs time to think and it's entirely her choice and not a reflection of you at all
and tbh those few days are good for you as well. it gives you a chance to clear your head and adjust to the conversation you've had
yelena comes back first. she knocks on your front door, having spent most of the last three days coming up with a grand speech about how she can't lose you, but then she forgets it all and just says one thing
"are we still friends? because i really still want to be your friend."
moments later she pulls you into a tight hug, murmuring apologies (even though you insist she needn't be sorry)
"i'm going to help you get over me. i'll be so annoying that it'll be really easy"
and honestly, the first few days after that are a little awkward. it's a whole new situation for you both with the new information come to light but ultimately, you fall back into a routine
you do get over her eventually. it's really hard given how often you see her but it happens naturally, and you settle back to a point where you're just happy to have her in your life

Tumblr media
The night was dreary, moonlight illuminating the whisper of rain into minuscule shooting stars streaking past your apartment window. Lightning veined angrily through the tumultuous skies, and you drew the curtains shut with a slight shiver traversing up your spinal column.
Today wasn’t supposed to be complicated in the least. You were supposed to buy groceries, do your laundry, and maybe finish that book you’ve been putting off for weeks. Today was supposed to be your rare sense of normalcy. After everybody was brought back from the blip only a month ago, nothing was quiet—everything was constantly moving and shifting, extremely jarring in its sudden nature. You barely had the time to take a breath.
Having an ex-red room assassin show up at your apartment door, drenching your welcome mat in a multitude of rainwater, tears, and a mysterious substance you surmised was blood, however, wasn’t anywhere on your agenda for today.
Regardless, you stepped to the side wordlessly with a tight purse of your lips, brows knitting together in mute concern. The blonde ambled in with both heavy steps and heart, head ducked low, chin drawn near to her chest. She appeared to be teetering on the verge of shattering into a million pieces.
You vaguely knew what happened to her. Or, more accurately, to her sister. It wasn’t her first time swinging by your place a complete and utter mess, and you doubted it’d be the last. After enough fractured pieces of what she’d told you accompanied by the stories you heard on the news, you put two and two together. Her sister saved the world, and everything was better now. So why did it feel all the worse for her?
The two of you worked in silent tandem. She headed down the hall into the farthest door to the left, where she knew your bedroom was. You followed in after her, turning around to rifle through your closet as she stripped off her sodden layers, tossing the assassin a few of your most oversized garments. She merely grunted out a muffled thanks, tugging the shirt over her soaking head. A fluffy towel landed over her shoulders only a second later. You scooped up her sopping clothes from the ground, chucking them into the bathroom sink for your future self to deal with.
“Wipe yourself down, Yelena,” you said gently. “You’re getting my carpets all wet. I hope that isn’t your blood.”
She did as you asked, without question, shaking her head stiffly at your latter statement. See, Yelena was usually quite the talker, all bull-headed and sardonic in tone with a tongue of silver. It mildly concerned you that she had so little to say.
Once she was dry (though trembling ever so slightly), you handed her a folded blanket from your closet and nudged her towards the couch. “Anything to drink? Hot cocoa?”
“How about the strongest alcohol you got?” she asked, quirking an eyebrow upwards. Ah, there she was.
“Not a good idea,” you said firmly. “You’re a violent drunk, remember?”
“That’s the whole point,” Yelena grumbled with a near bitter edge to her words. “I’m not supposed to remember.” Then her mouth quivered, and you caved.
A small sigh left your raw-bitten lips, and you sank down onto the seat beside her. “C’mere,” you uttered gently, afraid that if you spoke too loudly, she’d get spooked and run away. That, or she'd punch you in the face. Both had happened before, and you wanted to be as careful as possible. She didn’t move at first, but when you narrowed your eyes at her, her vision misted over and a singular tear fell down the apple of her cheek. Her nose quickly dusted rouge as she sniffled, falling into your open arms in part embarrassment, and part desperation to be comforted. Yelena didn’t cry often, but when she did, it slammed into her harder than a tidal wave would, encapsulating her wholly and bleeding into her lungs until she couldn’t tell which way was up and which way was down.
When was the last time someone told her that they cared about her? That they loved her?
“Yelena,” you shushed her gently, cradling the back of her head into the crook of your neck. “Shh, it’s okay. Let it out. You’re okay.”
“But I’m not!” she wailed, hiccupping in her fruitless attempts to suck in a breath in one go. “I don’t know what I’m doing. I don’t know what I’m doing, Y/N. I miss her so much.”
“I know. I know,” you murmured lightly, clutching her all the tighter when you felt the dampness of her tears paint itself over the canvas of your shoulder. “I’m right here. You’ll be okay.”
You repeated yourself over and over and over. The words meant both everything and nothing at once—a religious mantra that you whispered into her skin. Whether or not Yelena would listen was unbeknownst to you.
Eventually, her sobs subsided into haggard breaths, which soon dampened into the steady rise and fall of her chest. She had fallen asleep, lulled by your tender words of consolation, cheek smushed uncomfortably against your clavicle bone. You angled your head downwards to study your long-time friend. The bags under her eyes held the weight of a thousand moons, cheeks irritated red from the constant wiping of tears. She had smudged makeup rimming her eyes, glittery shades of emerald and gold. You absentmindedly wondered what she was doing before she ended up at your doorstep—whose blood stained her soaked clothes in your bathroom sink.
A downtrodden sigh melted from your lungs. As carefully as you possibly could, you peeled her off of you, maneuvering her form to lay back. You awkwardly shambled off of the couch to unfold the blanket she was loosely holding, draping it over her.
“You’re my home, you know that?” she said hoarsely, rousing from your movement and observing you with half-lidded eyes. “My family.”
Your gut twisted painfully at her words, but you kneeled down to plant a chaste kiss to her warm forehead, brushing back the stray tendrils of hair that fell over her face. “I know. Good night, Yelena.” The words sounded hollow and empty to you, especially knowing that she’d be gone by the time you woke up the next day. A frown stitched itself black and blue over your features, and you turned around so she wouldn’t be able to see the film of tears glossing over your eyes.
Grief always brought her halfway home to you, but never close enough.

Ambush
Yelena Belova x Reader
Word Count: 2.5k
Warning: Near death experience
Summary: You almost die after getting ambushed, but Yelena saves your life with a little help.
An: 15 post in 1 day, am I a psycho or what?
Masterlist
Tumblr media
Every breath was staggered. Every step, uneven. The blood dripping down your face served to be nothing more than a strip of paint.
Attacks, you could handle; ambushes, not so much. There was a time you were the best they could get. The most emotionless person to ever be made.
Then you met Yelena. The memory of when you first met was buried underneath many memories similar to it.
You'd be working and Yelena would be there to throw a wrench in your plans. She'd spar you, talk your head off, and even get a step too close to you.
She didn't want to stop you, and you knew this. If she wanted to, she would've already. All she wanted to do was to get you to fumble a little.
She succeeded because the more she'd interfere; the more you started to worry when she didn't.
You wish she was there tonight, to stop this.
Getting into your place was more complicated than it needed to be. The key kept slipping from your unsteady hands. The frustration got to you before the exhaustion. The last bit of energy you had was used to shoulder block the door.
It opened, and you hit the floor, groaning in pain. The ringing in your ears, the only sound you could focus on.
Everything around you is blurry, but you think you see the door close. Then you feel your body being moved. You don't notice much more before you're out cold.
Yelena panicked as she saw your eyes close. There was so much wrong with you. She had no idea where to start.
There was so much blood.
She tried her best to stop the bleeding on her own and when that didn't work she called in her sister for help.
Natasha didn't ask any questions, not even when she arrived at your place. Instead, she and Yelena worked in silence trying to patch you up.
When they finished, your whole abdomen was bandaged, along with your shoulder and head.
Yelena took a step back and stared at your motionless body. All sorts of negative thoughts running through her head.
" She'll be ok, Lena," Natasha rested a hand on her sister's shoulder.
" I should have been there. If I was there, then this would not have happened. Y/n is skilled in combat, this had to be a heavy ambush," Yelena feels guilt seep into her heart.
Natasha pulls the woman into her side," You couldn't have known this would happen."
" I should've known. I've worked contract to contract and have had people come in hordes to attack me. This was bound to happen," she continues to stare at you.
" So she's a contract worker? Is that how you two met," Natasha changes the subject.
Yelena answers plainly," Yes."
" Do you… like her?"
Yelena's face went red, and she sputtered," I no, no I do not like her. Not at all."
A groan from your lips stopped Natasha from teasing her sister even further.
The blonde was by your side in an instant. Her hand lightly holding yours. She watched as your eyes fluttered open. A look of relief washed over her face.
" Oh my god, everything hurts," you mumbled to yourself, trying to sit up.
Yelena's hand stopped you," Stay down."
A smile appears on your face," Nice to see you too."
The former black widow gave you a stern look," You could've died."
The smile on your face grew," Luckily I had you here to save me, my hero."
She blushed harder than she did when Natasha was teasing her.
" Heroes," Natasha interjects, and stepping into your point of view.
" Aren't you?"
" Yelena's sister," Natasha redirected your curiosity.
You glance at Yelena," Meeting the family already? Don't you think it's a little early for that?"
" I uh um… What happened to you?" Yelena shifts the tone of the room.
" Ambush. 5 or maybe 6 guys. I wasn't expecting it. I- I honestly thought I'd die before I made it here," Your eyes travel the length of your body.
The tape hid what you knew to be ugly gashes and bruising. Your eyes met Yelena's," I would definitely be dead if it weren't for you."
" You're lucky I was here, you need to be more careful," her hand caressed your face, and you closed your eyes.
" I know," you answered back.
The two of you stayed in that moment until Natasha cleared her throat," Well, I'm going to go now. Yelena, call me later, and I wish you a speedy recovery…"
" Y/n," you finished, and she nodded.
" Get well soon Y/n," Natasha slipped out of the door and left you alone with Yelena.
You broke the silence," You never told me your sister was an Avenger."
She laughed lightly," Would you have believed me?"
Your head shook from side to side," Probably not."
Once the laughter died down, it seemed like the gravity of the situation hit all over again. Yelena wouldn't meet your eyes.
" When I saw your head hit the floor, I was worried. Then I saw the rest of your body and I panicked. I lost my senses. All of my training, everything I thought I knew, was out of the window. I was scared because I thought I had lost you."
Your body ached when you tried to sit up. Yelena was going to hold you down again, but you held your arm out to stop her. When you finally got in an upright position, Yelena moved closer to you.
You hugged her with no hesitation. Your arms fit perfectly around her waist," I'm sorry, I didn't mean for any of this to happen."
" It's not your fault, I just- I care about you a lot, ok. Maybe more than I should," Yelena's voice is softer than you've ever heard it before.
" I care about you more than I should too," you raise your head to meet her eyes, just to find them already looking at you.
" I think I'm going to kiss you now," she states with certainty.
You chuckle but pull her even closer," Ok."
She leans forward slowly, the anticipation kills you. So much so that you find yourself eagerly meeting her halfway.
It feels like everything slowed down when your lips met. They fit together perfectly, and they moved in harmony. There was passion, but there was also a hint of inexperience. It had been a long time since either of you had kissed anyone.
Yelena's forehead rested against yours when the kiss broke. Her light breath still tickled your lips, which you didn't mind.
" We should do that more often," you are infatuated with her eyes on yours.
Her tongue trails over her bottom lip," We should, maybe something more when you're healed."
Yelena saw the slight shift in your facial features," What is wrong? Does something hurt? Are the bandages-"
" Will you stay? Until I'm healed at least," your gaze is on the floor as you ask.
Yelena gently lifts your head up," I will stay for as long as you'll have me."
She places another gentle peck on your lips. You smile at her, a genuine one, just happy the blonde stumbled into your life. She was annoying at the time, but even way back then, you knew that you'd cared about her a little more than you should have. What you didn't know is that she had always felt like she cared about you a little more than she should have, too.

Drown In Your Tears (platonic! Yelena Belova x reader)
Warnings: mentions of insecurity/self depreciating thoughts, reader has implied mental health issues, upset reader, Yelena is very comforting, brief mention of Natasha's death, hurt/comfort, swearing
Tumblr media
The stress had been piling up in you, day after day, week after week; until finally the dam burst, and you found yourself sitting curled up in a ball on the bathroom floor, crying your heart out. You didn't know how long you'd been in there when suddenly there was a knock on the door.
"Are you okay? I only ask because I could hear you crying from the other room."
It was Yelena, your roommate as well as your best friend. You took a couple deep breaths before responding.
"Yeah, I'm- I'm fine." You did your best to keep your voice from quivering as you answered, with no such luck.
It was silent at first, making you think she'd left until she suddenly spoke again. "Is it alright if I come inside? I want to help you."
You nodded your head, before remembering she couldn't see you. "Um, y-yeah, that's fine. You can come in if you want."
You watched as the doorknob turned slowly while she opened the door, walking into the bathroom before shutting it behind her. She sat down on the floor next to you. Neither one of you spoke; the only sounds that could be heard were the water dripping from the faucet and your shaky, quivering breath.
Yelena spoke after a couple minutes of sitting in silence together. "You'd better stop crying like that, or else you're going to drown in your tears," she commented.
You laughed, your eyes puffy and red from where you'd been crying. "You think so, huh?"
"I know so. When I opened the door, I was surprised to see you hadn't flooded the bathroom," she replied, glad she had gotten you to smile.
Her face turned serious as your laughter quieted. "Look, I know what it feels like to have to world on your shoulders, almost as if you're suffocating in all the stressed placed upon you. That's how I felt when I first found out Natasha had died.
"But-" she placed her hand in yours, "-you learn to work through it, and move forward. Obviously, things aren't going to get better right away, but you don't have to do this alone, okay? I'm right here, and I'll be here to help you get through this."
Your eyes began to water again at her kind words, causing her to believe she'd done something wrong.
"Oh, shit, did I overstep your boundaries? I'm so sorry-"
You pulled her in for a tight hug. "No, no you didn't," you said, your voice cracking. "Thank you for being here for me."
She gently patted your back while she hugged you. "Of course. I would never want you to have to go through something like this alone."
When you finally pulled away, you gave her a grateful smile, your tears dried.
"Wanna go get shitfaced while watching Die Hard?" She offered.
"I'd love nothing more."
