I’ve done and made a fair bit in my craft. Well I say that as it’s a fair bit in my opinion. Probably nothing compared to others, but I’m a spoonie, sooo yeah.

I love water magick so much. And the salt water spray I made recently, it is so potent and works so well! I swear it’s the best thing I’ve ever “made” in three years. I keep it next to my bed and just spray it around my room whenever I feel I need it. I’ll have to make more soon because I’ve used a lot. Because of my depression, anxiety and illnesses, I will get a lot of negative energy around me. So the spray helps so much.

When I spray it I pretty much always say the same thing:

“I only want good energy and spirits in here, so if you’re negative in any way, get the hell out. I don’t want you here.”

I spray everywhere but I spray more in particular areas that I feel need it, on whatever day. A few hours ago before I got into bed, I did my black tourmaline ritual where I trace my door (don’t forget to trace your door handle and light switch) and window with it. Then I sprayed at my door, window, and even my open closet door which was interesting, but I’ve learned to trust my intuition. It doesn’t hurt to spray, so even if I was wrong, who cares? No risk.

Like I said, a lot of bad stuff has been going on and yesterday was just…gah. I even spritzed myself for some reason. But it did help as always!

I just use moon water (this one is full moon) and sea salt. Honestly I’d use table salt, but I have sea salt already for my diy piercing cleaner, so I go with that. It’s whatever I have. I cleanse the bottle using the night air (open my window), before putting anything into it. The air is such an amazing way to cleanse, and I did it for the first time a while ago because I was desperate. I have nothing lol. I just did it on a whim and thought, “hey, air!” It’s amazing for us spoonies 👋🏻 who just want to cleanse something and don’t have the damn energy. Also broom closet witches, and just any witch. It’s free and takes almost no effort.

I’ve learned that whatever water you feel is best, use it! I use sun water a lot and I love it. But when I was choosing what water to use, I felt strongly that I should use full moon water. I have a bunch of different waters in my mini fridge.

Some witches say you shouldn’t use plastic bottles, and for a long time I just said okay. But I didn’t have glass bottles. Glass is also more expensive. And me? No money. Spoonie, remember? So I will use plastic spray bottles unless I have glass on hand (when my mom decides to buy them because she likes the sprays I make in glass bottles) because it works for me and I have learned to trust what works. My advice is to not be paranoid about every little thing like I was and still am sometimes. It’s your craft and you can do whatever you want. And knowing that is really empowering to me.

Alrighty buckle up because I'm about to ramble.

Black tourmaline is absolutely one of my favourite crystals, like actually in my top 3.

I keep little bowls of it around, because it is incredible at absorbing the negative energy off of stuff. So at the end of the day—especially if I was around lots of people—I'll take any crystal jewelry off and plop it in my black tourmaline bowl to cleanse it. I also have a black tourmaline necklace my mother made for me that I wear out on days I know I'm going to be interacting with a lot of people, which I also make sure to cleanse in my bowl.

When it comes to objects, I smoke cleanse first with sandalwood incense and then plop them in the bowl so any straggling negativity can get cleansed too.

Now, black tourmaline is not self-cleansing, so you'll need to cleanse it every so often. Enter blue kyanite, also in my top 3. Blue kyanite is an absolute beast when it comes to cleansing other crystals, even better than selenite in my opinion, so I use them together. I have a layer of blue kyanite in my bowl, and then a layer of black tourmaline on top. You may be wondering why have the black tourmaline? Shouldn't I just cut out the middleman? I don't recommend that based on my personal experience. The black tourmaline sucks the negative energy out of crystals and other objects, then the blue kyanite dissolves that negative energy. They work together.

When it comes to using black tourmaline as a ward, it's actually quite simple. Take a few chunks of it and put them in the corners of your room, or around your house. Every couple of weeks, cleanse them however you prefer that is safe (I prefer blue kyanite as mentioned above) and then put them back. The black tourmaline will absorb any negativity within the space they occupy. I would recommend using a black tourmaline ward in tandem with other kinds of wards, and not by itself.

As a charm, just carrying it in your pocket or as jewelry is fantastic since it'll suck all the negativity you interact with on a daily basis. Just make sure to cleanse it every time you use it of course. I find that black tourmaline is perfect for helping to absorb the evil eye (a particularly nasty one may still linger though), and is a huge help to me when working with people, since it absorbs any negativity that is sticking to you. I always had black tourmaline with me when I used to work retail (and omg could I tell the difference in the few days I forgot it), and it's always with me when I read palms. Lots of negativity can get stuck to you when you're interacting with other people.

Tourmalinated Quartz: sometimes known as black rutilated quartz, it feels very fitting to Abigail because of how the tourmaline inclusions almost “stab” through the quartz, which to me feels like Abigail’s adventurous side. Overall, tourmaline is very Abigail (have you even SEEN the way it looks raw?? Oh my gosh it’s so her) but tourmalinated quartz just feels a Touch more correct.

Grape Agate: first of all, purple and indigo/blue. Second of all, it’s named like a food, so it’s perfect for her rock-munching habits! Third of all, though it forms in little tiny round bits (which is a stark contrast to the way tourmaline forms), the shape is very unique and unlike any other natural formation. Abigail is incredibly unique in her own right, with her natural purple hair!

Malachite: I’m certain that this one is mostly synesthesia, but there’s something to be said about the way Abigail is often mischaracterized (or at the very least, brought down to “hot goth gf”) and fake malachite is VERY often sold as real. Kinda like mischaracterization, but it’s of a rock!

If you’re curious, I’ll post something about identifying fake malachite vs real malachite because it drives me INSANE how fucking OFTEN people fall for it
