I can't believe I had an argument with my aunt's long time partner about the name of my cat that I've had for nine years. He believed my cat is a female named Stormy when he's a male named Storm, so when I corrected him, this man is like "That's not a boy's name," so I said "It's gender neutral."
This man...oh my god, this man was trying to convince me that there was no such thing as gender neutral names. 馃拃 "Gender neutral is not a thing."
Not only is that a ridiculous thing to say, but we were also talking about a CAT! You honestly believe my damn cat gives a shit about what his name is or knows anything about the gender construct? You think he cares that he was named after a female character?

Just because you are aware of how constructed societal concepts are, doesn't mean you are free from the pressure of it. Being aware might grant some freedom, but it's not like the concepts just disappear no matter how silly they seem now. You just gotta be aware that it is not your fault they exist and that not you are the problem in the situation that hurts so many blindly. As a genderqueer person you have no choice but be aware of it, so the pain can become more visible, voicable. We do not have the comfort or privilege of blindness. But the privilege of truly fitting the set of unrealistic roles is bestowed on a very small amount of people. And the pressure lays on everyone outside. Now everyone who is visibly and openly breaking the gender binary, is questioning the chase for that unrealistic goal that media and society set for everyone by a tiny group of people. That is uncomfortable, that is angering those who are hurting by it but don't understand why. While those in power of those concepts are profiting to keep it in place and try to get rid of those not only questioning but actively disturbing it.

It is inherently fun and sexy to say statements that swap the traditional genders of pronouns and terms mid-statement, such as: "I'm going to make him my wife" "She's my boyfriend" "Who says a guy can't be a pretty princess?" "That girl's the coolest dude I've ever met" "She's a madman who has to be stopped" "It's not his fault he's a material girl" Gender is a set of watercolors and the prettiest shades come from mixing the paints together.

I have found the best ally
Straight and cis people will say that they are allies, but you will NEVER measure up to my dentist.
Me: "Hey, is it ok if I can change my name on my info from [DEADNAME] to Sai?"
Random woman that I wasn't even talking to in the chair next to me: "Honey, if that's the name you had at birth, [DEADNAME] is your only name."
My dentist, very slowly turning her rolley chair towards the woman: "Shush."
Random woman: "Excuse me?"
Destist: *closes privacy curtain while staring bullets at the lady*
Me: *pissing myself laughing*
My dentist while changing my name in my info (reminder that English is not her first language, she immigrated from Russia): "There, Sai, you have pretty boy teeth. Smile and make all girls swoon."
Me not having the heart to tell her I'm not transmasc but I'm Agender, and still pissing myself laughing: "Thank you [DENTIST NAME]."

New gender designation to be pedantic:
Assigned Moral Judgment at Birth (AMJAB)
Acronym Pronunciation:
/am/ /jab/
Usage:
I鈥檓 an AMJAB, and due to that socialization, that鈥檚 why I behave the way I do. I鈥檓 interested in change but I can鈥檛 help but think that your actions are morally reprehensible even though they don鈥檛 cause you, me, or others any harm. My pronouns are the same as the high horse I sit on: e/eg/ego/egos/egotistical (subject/object/possessive/possessive pronoun/reflexive).

when people try to argue that feminism is unnecessary, western import for bourgeoise women, that the wage gap doesn't exist, that civilisations are built solely by men in construction doing hard labour while the women are at home, show them the impoverished female bricklayers of India, who are 49% of the second largest industry (after agriculture) of 40 million constructors, and get paid less for equal work ($7/day for men, $4/day for women) because of gender discrimination and exploited due to being poor, illiterate, debt trapped, facing gender based setbacks (not being promoted to masonry or carpentry like men) and being unaware of their union rights
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this work in general is exploitative, getting paid pennies on the dollar while corporations that build their mega complexes rake in millions, hazardous to health, no safety equipment, regulations, breathing in fine dust and construction pollution for both men and women. but women in particular face gender based discrimination such as getting paid a lower raw wage and lack of opportunities to get promoted from this heavy duty scaffolding work, in fact they often do more work than the men but aren't respected by their male peers. and the idea that only men historically have done hard labour, built civilisations is a false myth that erases the plight of the millions of women in the Global South.

Serena Nanda is an Orientalist lunatic who hates trans women.
The intro to the first edition of her book was written by John Money.
She repeatedly talks about hijras describing themselves as women, and ignoring them to call them castrated males and crossdressers.
Third-Sexing is anthropological transmisogynistic violence on a discipline level.

sorry im gonna aut out for a second going off these tags
this book is so fucking aggravating because the author's (cis man. ofc.) reasoning for why the P.U.F isn't trans is because they didn't seem to struggle with their gender before becoming the P.U.F (we have no way of knowing this btw. not only do we have limited information on their personal life before transitioning, but whose to say they ever showed signs of being trans openly? whose to say their near-death experience didn't awaken something inside them?) and since their rebirth was due to "spiritual factors" instead "some long-term struggle over [their] identity" (because it would have to be a struggle, right?), we should only view them in the context of women's history and not trans* history.
which makes me want to rend flesh with my teeth!!!! sir you CANNOT separate spirituality from identity like that. were the priestesses of inanna not trans* despite taking on women's clothing, names, language, because they viewed their gender as a spiritual event? its so ridiculous to take someone who literally changed their entire identity because of this spiritual rebirth, and then call them by their birth name and she/her pronouns and be like "well since SHE didn't struggle with HER gender before, then SHE isn't trans!"
and its not like this is some "ohh we don't know what they would have wanted," the P.U.F made it very clear they were not Jemima, they would not tolerate being seen as her, they dressed androgynously on purpose, their followers considered them a neutral spirit. They identified as the Public Universal Friend, it doesn't matter whether you think they really were a spirit from Heaven. They did everything possible to express "I am not who I used to be and my gender is not the same as it was," how is this not trans??????? Because they weren't the fucking textbook transsexual that is the only True Trans allowed to exist???????? god forbid a trans* person's gender be more than some hellish struggle. god forbid other parts of our identity affect our gender and be inseparable. and god forbid a trans* person assigned female do literally anything because if they aren't a cis woman somehow their defiance of the patriarchy is no longer radical. paul moyer meet me in the fucking parking lot i'm gonna break your nose what is this shit. can't trust a cis to do a trans' job.
