thank you so so much for your kind words and my apology in getting back to you.

and here are my top tips to stop self destructing (but i'll make a longer post soon!)

practicing compassion with myself - it's okay to make mistakes, it's okay to not feel like you have it together. but you have to soothe yourself first and tell yourself that YOU GOT THIS, and it will only get better from here

making healthy habits & modifying my routine - i know we all say your routine should be rigid but sometimes it feels like it overwhelms me! whenever im in a self destructive mood i start with easy tasks and slowly build up my energy to get towards my bigger tasks

emotional outlets - finding ways to channel my emotions and honour them. i used to ignore my emotions off anger,frustration etc., and kept it all bottled up but that led to self destruction. journaling, praying, going to the gym or playing cozy games helps me redirect that energy towards something until it passes. then i can regroup.

This is not like my normal coloring and honestly under different circumstances I would be embarrassed about how it turned out but for me today it symbolizes not allowing someone else to steal my joy. I started coloring this for someone (I had only colored Pocahontas’s hair) but after being assaulted a couple of weeks ago, I have not been able to use my right arm/hand. It took me almost two weeks on and off and was very frustrating trying to color with my left hand. I would almost tear it up and trash it at times because I got out of the lines and couldn’t shade with my colored pencils with my injury and I am such a perfectionist when it comes to my coloring. 🤦🏼‍♀️

FEARLESS IS BEAUTIFUL!!!

So this picture will always be a reminder to me of several things…

I have to go easier on myself because there is no way that I can do everything perfectly all the time and that’s ok.

It will always be a symbol of closure for me. I will make mistakes in life, but I always learn from them and use them to become a better person. I’m just me. I won’t ever pretend to be something I’m not even if that means I lose opportunities or people, because I know my worth, and if someone (including family) doesn’t love/appreciate me for who I am then that is their loss, not mine.

And finally, it is a reminder that I have to get back to focusing on the positive and working through the negative affects the incident has had on me (physically, mentally, and financially) because I was in such a good place mentally and physically before it happened. I refuse to let a bully make me afraid to live my life or steal my joy by taking away things that make me happy (coloring, etc.) She may have made things more difficult for me at the present time, but I refuse to give up and will start viewing my current difficulties as a motivator instead of a hinderance. I am the only one who gets to control my happiness!
