The thing is, you don’t have to have a diagnoses to make simple “unmasking” changes that make your life easier. You don’t even have to self-diagnose! You are not appropriating anyone’s culture or struggles or hijacking anyone’s movement by allowing yourself to sway in line at the grocery store or buying a weighted blanket or using study or household hacks intended for people with ADHD. If you start favoring the needs that make your brain and body unique over the arbitrary norms of society, you’ll be better off, and you’ll be expanding the norms. It’s a win/win.

#sometimes I consider What I Have Going On Upstairs #and think 'should I try to get some sort of diagnosis?' #but it wouldn't help me right now! gallier house tour: we almost missed our flight but thankfully the flight was delayed anyways hehe. the current tour theme was mourning/death in the family so they had it set up with funeral/mourning decor. interesting thing i learned is that before about the 1890s, funerals were banned from churches cause of fear of disease and people would've had to hold the funeral for their loved ones like the same day, so they'd hire a servant or whatever to go door to door and get ppl to show up to the funeral (which usually took place in the parlor of the home). also learned that a widow was expected to be in mourning for TWO years while a man was only expected to mourn for 6 months for his wife. also it was really cool to see the 2nd floor layout cause its pretty clearly the same layout they used for the show, with the sitting room in #5 acting as the coffin room. claudia's bedroom is located in the same place as the kid's bedroom while it seems the slave and servants room along the back are just not used in the show? the incinerator is located in place of the outhouse lol.

2 weeks into the season and i can already check "batshit crazy american tourist encounter" off the list

#i was registering this guy's passport and he wanted me to read it aloud ??? not the name etc. the last page where it says #government of the people by the people yada yada #and i was like. no thanks? #and then he told me this story. apparently he went to russia and he stood up in the middle of st petersburg's airport #and read that bit from his passport out loud 'to teach them about freedom' #and i was like good for you man. #and he kept going #there were 5+ people waiting in line behind him btw #and my boss got mad at me for some reason
