the pre—race buzz was electric in the ferrari garage, your phone pinging with messages beckoning you to the mercedes garage on the other end of the paddock. you knew lewis wanted to see you, he’d been the one to invite you to the race in the first place, but there was something pulling you to the room filled with red. someone.
“hello again,” your smile widened across your face as charles dodged past mechanics to find you by the wall. his decorated race suit adored his lean figure, but his head was still free of his helmet, despite the clock ticking closer to when he needed to be in the car.
that godforsaken smile of his mirrored your own, knees wobbling as soon as it graced your gaze. without thinking, his arms pulled you into a hug. a friendly one, to be sure. a happy to see you, no matter how your heart yearned for another reason. the emerald in his eyes shone down at you, that same look he’d given you when you’d first met all those weeks ago backstage before your show.
and now here you were, after weeks of texts and late night calls, staring at each other through a fog of tension, waiting with bated breath. he speaks first, and you try so desperately to ignore how his gloved fingers brush your wrist when he does.
“what are you doing tonight?”
you blink, his eyes hopeful for an answer. your head shakes, shoulders shrugging, brain nagging to be an ounce cooler than you were being right now. “i don’t know. why?”
“let me take you to dinner. it’ll be my prize, if i win,” he speaks quickly, as though he needs to say it before hesitancy can change his mind. that familiar lump of nerves turns in your stomach, one you hadn’t felt in a long time. not since austin first asked you out — a feeling that had ended in catastrophe. could you face that kind of tumble again?
“charles, you have to go!” a voice nearby urges, every other driver already behind their wheels. urges him to move, and you to answer. his feet are moving backwards, slowly, but his eyes stay trained on you, awaiting your reply.
“well, you’d better win then.”

Hi! Can I request a reader x xaden fic where she gets badly hurt and he freaks out. The ending is up to you. Thank you
Not responsible for this. That’s your warning. You asked.
Breathe me in
“What’s up with you today?”, you nudged your boyfriend’s shoulder as you finally managed to find him in the back room of the training hall. Xaden simply shrugged, reaching for another dagger to throw. But you quickly stepped in front of him. “We don’t do that”, you crossed your arms over your chest, “Talk to me”, you breathed.
You could tell from the way his jaw clenched that he was calculating his answer. “I don’t like the formation they are sending out today”, he said drily. “For the petrol?”, you questioned and Xaden only nodded. “We never flown over there. Ever. And suddenly we have a new location to go to?”, he shook his head in frustration. “You think it’s a setup?”, you brushed your fingers over his back hoping to give him at least some comfort. “Who knows… I doubt it, they are sending the best. Killing them off…”, Xaden trailed off. “Well, I care because you are on the list so, I ain’t looking to lose you”, you leaned forward, kissing his chest before nuzzling into him. “So are you and I guess that’s why I am so… On edge. I don’t want to bring you into an ambush”, he admitted, leaning in to kiss the top of your head. “We would give them hell”, you muttered, making Xaden let out a low chuckle, “We would but let’s hope that we don’t have to”.
Now he wished he hadn’t brought you. Wished it would have been him and the boys. Because he had lost you and Imogen when the fire had started. You all had barely flown over the valley when the sea of arrows came. Followed by flames. “Fuck”, Xaden cursed, flying over the peek. “Yn, come on love, where are you?”, he muttered scanning the fields. “Nothing”, Bodhi shouted, flying from the left side. “Nothing here as well”, Garrick shook his head. The panic in Xaden only intensified. “We will find them”, Bodhi said firmly, “They probably just took shelter in the caves”. And Xaden truly couldn’t put into words just how much he hoped that was true.
“Xaden”, Sgaeyl's voice pierced his consciousness, “boy”, and that’s when he felt her sadness seeping into him. His eyes landed on the two huge figures down by the river. He didn’t even have to motion for the two males to follow suit. But even through the sea of emotions, he didn’t let himself lose hope. Not until Imogen’s screams filled the air. Not until the sight of your dragon slumped to the side came into view. “No”, he breathed, “No, no…”, “Stay in the saddle”, Sgaeyl warned him but Xaden was already swinging his leg over her body, “Xaden”, she hissed tilting to the side so she could at least break his fall.
“Yn”, he shouted, “Yn”, his legs hit the ground and he was running. Running towards kneeling Imogen. He was going to fix this. He was going to make it better and then… then he would kill everyone who was in on this. “Yn”, he repeated over and over till his eyes landed on your limp body on Imogen’s lap. Imogen who was sobbing so hard her body shook, “I couldn’t, I can’t”, she choked out, brushing some of your blood-soaked hair away from your face.
Xaden fell to his knees, reaching for you. “Hey, baby, hey, hey”, he gathered you in his embrace. The sound of your dragon growling in pain echoed through the field. You blinked slowly and he quickly gathered your face in his hands, “Look at me, I will get you back, we will fix this”, but you simply shook your head, “Want to… die… here”, you choked out. “No, no, you’re not dying”, Xaden shook his head, “We’ll go home, okay? We will…”, “Xaden”, you breathed out.
A pained cry ripped through him as he pressed you closer to him. His hands soaked in your blood from the open wound on your back. He lifted his eyes to look at the friends. Garrick had gathered Imogen in his arms, his own eyes red from tears. Bodhi was kneeling by your dragon, trying to soothe the pain. “We need to go”, Xaden urged, trying to lift you but the pained growl that left you had him stilling instantly.
“To the river…”, you breathed out, lips rimed with blood, face growing paler. Xaden didn’t even have to think twice as he turned towards the shore where the water was running. “Pretty”, you muttered, eyes growing heavy. “Let me help, let me become I can’t…”, Xaden choked out. Nuzzling closer to you. “I… love”, your voice died with a pained cough. “Don’t do this”, Xaden shook his head, “You can’t leave me, that’s an order”, he tried to suppress the sob but that only left him shaking. “Best thing… that happened to me… was you”, you lifted your hand as much as you could and Xaden instantly leaned to meet your touch nuzzling into your warmth.
“I love you”, Xaden muttered, trying to smile at you, trying to give you that one goodbye. “Love”, you breathed out right as Xaden leaned in to carefully kiss you. Brushing his lips over yours one last time right as your body fully limped. A pained sob echoed as Xaden shouted. Pulling you as close as he possibly could. Rocking back and forth as he held you. Feeling the cold setting in. The never undoable coldness taking you from him forever.

Safe Haven
Tumblr media
Pairing: Luke Castellan x Reader
Summary: A day in the late sun never hurt anyone.
Warnings: None! Just fluff and reader pining after Lukey Pookie.
———————————————————————
You felt the sun blazing above you, as you laid in the tall grass. Trees billowed from above and birds chirped. The warmth drew you in. It was a sweet Sunday afternoon and for once, life didn’t feel so impossible.
“Care if I join?” The sun immediately was blocked by a shadowy figure that peered over you. You opened your eyes and smiled.
“Of course you can join me Luke.”
He plopped down next to you, stretching his arms out in the grass. You both quietly understood each other but it helped knowing each other since you were 12.
You peered over at your best friend and felt your heart twinge. Luke’s eyes were closed and the breeze blew between his eyelashes and black curls. Your eyes traced the outline of his scar.
He must of felt your eyes on him because he slowly reached his fingers over, grasping your hand.
The smallest laugh escaped your lips and the war in your stomach couldn’t be halted.
“Long day?” you asked him.
“Extremely long day, Clarisse and I sparred for three hours” Luke physically grimaced at the memory.
You rolled over to face him, “Why were you sparring with Clarisse?”
Luke sighed and sat up, “She wants to be better at her swordsmanship. Which I don’t understand, she always wins anyway out of fear.”
“Maybe you and I should spar sometime” You giggled. You knew the best swordsman at camp would easily beat you but that didn’t mean you couldn’t try.
He unhooked your hand from his and started tickling you. You squealed, thrashing around trying to escape the Gods favorite son of Hermes.
The two of you rolled around the in the grass until Luke ended up on top of you, his breath hot on your face. Your mind flashed to the scene from Star Wars: Episode II when Anakin and Padme rolled around in the fields of Naboo. You couldn’t stand to look him in the eye or you think you’d burst into flames. So you focused on the necklace hanging from his neck and the countless camp beads he had acquired. You counted the five before your eyes darted to how the bright orange shirt stuck to his body, drenched in sweat.
Moments felt like ages as he hung over you. Building up the courage, you finally looked him in his eyes and almost immediately the boy smiled at you.
“Have you seen Star Wars?” you asked.
Luke nodded slowly, one eye brow raised, “Are you saying I’m Anakin?”
“Well technically you’re Padme since you’re above me.”
Luke paused for a moment and leaned down close to your face.
“I haven’t seen Star Wars in a long time. Did this happen in it too?”
Before you could blink, Luke got as close as he possibly could and your breath hitched. The pounding in your chest increased as he tilt his head to the side. His lips pressed to yours slowly and you knew these lips would be your safe haven. Luke’s lips were dry after a long day but it would never be a problem to you. Everyone says that when you kiss someone you’re in love with, it feels like fireworks or an explosion but for you it was like soft rain in the middle of July. He tasted like your favorite color and for once in your life you felt like you were in another universe. It was unexplainable and dare you say perfect. Demigods never had room for perfection.
Even with all the monsters in the universe hunting you two down, you two would be exactly like soft rain in July.

hiya!! this is my first time doing a request or anything like that buttt i wanted to ask if you could do one where the team is put up in a hotel for the night, everyone is sent to their own separate rooms but hotch called them in to his room bc he had some last minute thoughts about the case, right before they all go to sleep and y/n shows up in a cute sleep set and everyone is like oh but don’t say anything. they talk about the case for a bit and slowly everyone heads off one by one leaving aaron and y/n but plot twist she’s been quiet bc she snoozed off in the seat in the corner. aaron wakes her up and she apologizes, they start talking a little and she realizes how tired he looks and she idk gives him a massage on the shoulders, it can have innuendos in there but i mostly want her to take care of him, maybe they fall asleep together or something fluff it up plss 🫶🏽
hii!! <333 you're so sweet for sending to me your first request!! i'm sorry it took me a thousand years lmfao i really really hope you like it!!
♡ ♡ ♡ ♡
With your eyes shut and both of your fists rubbing your eyelids softly as if they could take all the tiredness away, you weren’t able to see the looks your current outfit had earned you.
It wasn’t your usual attire for when discussing an unsub’s profile, but Hotch was the one to blame. You were getting ready for bed when JJ knocked on your door and announced that your boss wanted all of you urgently in his room. If he wasn’t your absolute soft spot, you’d be very pissed off about it.
Aaron seemed to have some new ideas about the case, and since the man apparently never slept, he thought all the rest of you would have the same energy as him. And maybe he wasn’t that far off for the others; but you were extremely tired, running only on three hours of sleep.  So you just chose the comfiest looking spot on the couch of Hotch’s room and snuggled with two of the pillows you found there, simply observing the conversation that was taking place and only jumping in for a comment or two. It was already an achievement for you managing to stay awake for an extra hour.
Or so you thought.
“Y/N…” a gentle voice whispered your name. “Y/N…”
The hand on your shoulder shaking you, just as gently, suggested that said voice was trying to wake you up. But you were so comfortable and so sleepy you chose to ignore it. The whispers were lulling you back to sleep anyway.
Before you managed to drift off completely again, the hand moved to cup your face. A thumb was rubbing your cheek as the voice talked to you again. “You’ll hurt your neck.”
You furrowed your eyebrows and slowly blinked, finding the figure of a man sitting next to you. “Hotch?”
“Hi,” he chuckled. “I thought you’d never wake up.”
“Oh my God, I’m so sorry,” you rushed to apologize. “I didn’t mean to fall asleep here.”
“That’s alright.” He smiled at you.
Aaron was right about the neck thing, you could already feel the pain growing and you used your hand to massage it as you switched to a more appropriate sitting position on your boss’ couch.
“I tried to warn you,” he said, lifting his brows. “I wake up sore from every single jet nap.”
“Yeah, I noticed you couldn’t even turn your head when talking to us the other day,” you giggled.
“Don’t make fun of the elderly,” he scolded you. “I’m actually suffering from the pain."
“I’m sorry.”
You were still laughing so Hotch didn’t look entirely convinced by your apology. “Yeah, I can see how much.”
“Okay, I’m sorry,” you repeated more seriously this time. There was a short pause before you spoke again. “You know…I have a friend that’s a physiotherapist and she’s taught me how to relieve neck pain. I could give you a massage. Maybe it’ll make you feel better.”
He looked surprised by your offer and you worried you overstepped.
“It’ll be my official apology,” you added.
You saw him letting out a heavy sigh and got yourself prepared for rejection, but instead Aaron nodded, “Sure, why not?”
“Nice!” you clapped twice, hoping you didn’t seem overly excited at the thought of touching him that intimately.
You’d be lying if you said you weren’t fixated on his large body and broad shoulders. So placing your palms on his toned muscles had your heart racing to the point you were scared he could hear your heartbeat.
Aaron’s heavy breaths when you started massaging his neck sent sparks all over your body. You wondered if he sounded like that during other moments in his life and you had to shake your head to send all the inappropriate thoughts away. Still it was next to impossible not to drool over him; touching him and watching him so up-close.
“Is that nice?” you asked.
“Mhm…”
“You have to be careful of how your posture is when you’re sleeping though. You warned me about it, but won’t do the same for yourself.”
“Maybe we can remind each other,” he suggested.
“Well that sounds like a good idea, but sadly we’re not always together when we’re sleeping.”
“Sadly, huh?”
Your hands froze on his shoulders and you could feel them shaking as Hotch started laughing.
“I didn’t mean it like that,” you said, covering your face embarrassed.
“I know,” he reassured you with a small laugh. He reached out behind him for your hands as his head fell slightly back to make eye contact with you. You were still covering your face, so he grabbed your wrists gently and moved them down. “Hey, it’s okay.”
“No, I’m embarrassed.”
He used his grip on your hands to drag you next to him so he could look at you properly. It didn’t need much effort on his side to make you take a seat by his side. “Why are you embarrassed?”
“Because you’re Hotch.”
“And?”
“And it’s self-explanatory. You either get it or you don’t.”
“I see.”
You sat next to each other in silence for a bit. Embarrassed or not, you didn’t want to go. This side of Hotch was very rare to be seen, and you felt grateful you got to witness him like this for once. You weren’t ready for it to end.
“Should I go?” you asked hesitantly.
“Do you wanna go?”
It took you a few seconds to reply, trying to make up your answer. You chose to be honest. “Not really.”
“Then stay.”
“I might fall asleep on your couch again,” you warned him.
“Hmm…there are worse things that could happen to me I think,” he said holding back a grin, and wrapped his arm around you, pulling you against his chest.
You couldn’t agree more.

Lil' excerpt from the self-indulgent DC fic I was working on yesterday for my birthday fun times.
Context: "My Adventures With Superman" meets Superboy.
Clark is talking to Lois and Jimmy in their office at the Planet when he hears it.
It's a heartbeat.
Clark hears those all the time these days. He can hear Lois and Jimmy's right now. Can hear everyone in the whole newsroom's; the whole building's; the whole city's.
And he can hear his own heartbeat, though he's so used to it that he usually tunes it out.
So . . . why is he hearing his own heartbeat, he wonders slowly, trying not to frown. Not sure what about his own heartbeat would make him want to frown, when–
Oh, he realizes.
It's not his heartbeat. It's not even in the building; it's blocks and blocks away.
Why on earth would he have thought a stranger's heartbeat on the other side of the city was his own? That doesn't make–
ta-tum
. . . sense.
Clark blinks, very slowly. The heartbeat carries on, sounding excited and eager and . . .
And . . . and strong.
He isn't sure why he cares so much, that it's strong. That it sounds . . . healthy. It's not like he ever wants to hear a weak heartbeat, after all. A weak heartbeat is never, ever a good thing, except when the alternative is no heartbeat at all.
But this specific heartbeat . . . for some reason, he cares that this specific heartbeat is strong.
Why does he . . .
ta-tum ta-tum
That's not how human heartbeats sound, Clark realizes, slowly. That's not–no, that's not a human heartbeat. Maybe not any kind of heartbeat he's ever heard before at all.
But it sounds so familiar all the same. It sounds . . .
Right.
He doesn't know how else to explain it.
Clark frowns. He glances towards the wall in the direction of the ta-tum heartbeat, letting his glasses slip low on his nose so he can look over them.
Specifically, so he can use his X-ray and telescopic vision over them. There's . . . the heartbeat is twelve blocks away. It's coming from a body on the street, one that's standing in place but not staying still, gesturing expansively and speaking to someone in a . . . food truck? Looks like a food truck, yeah. The heartbeat's owner isn't especially tall or broad, but it looks like all their growth plates are still open, so they're probably not physically mature yet. Judging by their posture and body language, they're likely male. And a teenager, given both their size and those growth plates. Younger to mid-teens, he thinks? Maybe?
Clark tunes in his hearing. The heartbeat's owner gestures at themselves and says, "Look, if this was cosplay, I'd have done a better job, okay? Like, I'd be more accurate!"
They do sound male, yes. Male, and young. And . . .
And a little . . . odd, somehow.
"So what is it, then?" the person in the food truck asks, clearly amused by whatever they're discussing. Female; probably ten or fifteen years older than the heartbeat's owner.
"Would you believe I just didn't have anything else to wear?" he says, sounding sheepish.
"That's a pretty extreme version of laundry day, kid," she says with a laugh. "But I appreciate the assist with those assholes either way. Want some chili fries? On the house."
"What're chili fries?" the heartbeat's owner asks as he leans in a bit, sounding curious.
"Oh, lemme rock your world, kid. One sec."
The food truck operator starts bustling around her truck, presumably in pursuit of chili fries. Clark frowns a little. Well, chili fries are probably fine for a teenager, he figures, even if the kid's really never had them before. Though chili fries do seem weird for a teenager to not have heard of?
Maybe he's an immigrant or a tourist, or home-schooled, or just from a particularly small town. Smallville admittedly is not the ideal place to get chili fries, so Clark assumes that's probably normal in other small towns too and–
"CLARK!" Lois yells, waving both hands in front of his face. Clark startles in surprise, then blinks at her.
"Uh, sorry," he says. "Did you need something?"

Party Time (NSFW): Session 0 FT: Dahyun
Tumblr media
Author's note: For this chapter, I will be changing the character perspective of this story slightly. the characters will still be the same however I wanted to try something different. As I learn more I'll probably come up with a much better way of writing the characters and differencing between them.
PreSession 0
You were blared awake by your ringtone Our Song by Silverstein. you looked around confused to see what was going on when you picked up your phone to see it was a call from Atticus. you grab your phone and answer,
"Yo, what's up?"
"It's session 0 of our Uber campaign today," Atticus responded. "Don't tell me you forgot Mordekai." You groan because you had an alarm that was set to go off in 4 minutes.
"Atticus Why are you like this? Look I know you are anxious but you beat my alarm by 4 minutes. I was going to be there."
"But you said you didn't have a character."
"Yeah because I was going to choose based on what everyone else was."
You rub your face before responding, "Dude I just got off work. I don't have the patience for this conversation I'll talk to you in a bit."
"Okay see you soon, and get here safe. As..." Atticus began
"Yeah I know My safety is a priority," you respond
finishing Atticus' statement, and hanging up. "Ahhhh. you groan." knowing you lost the last 4 minutes you get up and start your character. when you start getting deeper into the build your alarm goes off and you begin the rush to get ready. You shower, brush your teeth, and leave to go. Unsurprisingly you are early. Atticus is happy to see you and asks to see your character sheet.
Atticus looks at your character sheet and groans before asking, "Monty...Why is there only a Name and a Class?"
"Well, I figured we could hash out more of the details when it came time, Like what subclass and what race?" You begin. Atticus looks at you annoyed before you qualify the statement with, "I don't want to encroach or step on toes and I know people don't play Monks all that often." You say
Atticus shrugs in understanding, "Okay Fair. How about this then You play the Avatar Race."
"the Avatar race? Never heard of em." You say flatly
Atticus laughs as he explains "Well that's because it's a race I made specifically for this campaign."
"Okay so what's it do?" you ask intrigued to play a new brew of Atticus'
Atticus pulls out a little cheat sheet with the races he had available, "Well it's simple. It's just a generic humanoid in all aspects that is just molded to your character. they gain; +1 to three ability scores, a Feat, A language, and a skill."
"that's a lot." You exclaim
"On paper sure but ultimately not really because those +1s are so marginally good." Atticus elaborates
You roll your eyes before saying"Well if I roll a bunch of odd numbers it's pretty good, or do point buy."
"Oh about that. so to ease everyone into the game we are doing actual character-building with our physical selves. so how good you are at things determines your actual stats." Atticus explains
"Huh?" You ask
"Yeah," Atticus affirms
"That's dumb and I love it Atticus." You say
The door to Atticus's home opens and you hear a tiny voice say "Hey Atticus my Unnies are on their way." you turn around to see Dahyun of Twice. You quickly turn back to Atticus who you look at.
"Hahaha." is Atticus's only response. you blink slowly and turn to face Dahyun.
"Wow like you are way prettier in person," you say to her Seeing her gorgeous face up close and not separated by a distance of several thousands of feet. Dahyun smiles at you with the most adorable smile.
"I like your necklace," Dahyun replies shyly. you smile at her.
"What are you playing?" Dahyun asks
"Oh I am just playing an Avatar monk, and you" you reply. You notice Atticus smirks and when Dahyun goes to grab his character sheet you shoot him a furious look.
"Oh Changeling Blood Hunter."
you raise your eyebrows surprised and reply, "Impressive." Dahyun was listening intently
Dahyun blushes slightly then smiles and says "Thank you"
"Great my two Chingu are getting along great Atticus says happily
Dahyun looks at you surprised "We are the same age?" you nod. She eases and replies "I thought I'd be the youngest."
"Nope, I believe that is David who is one year younger than us," you answer Dahyun nods and eases into you more. You smile at her and say “Excuse me miss. Are you trying to charm me?”
Dahyun gives you her dazzling eye smile and says, “Maybe I am. What are you going to do about it?” you are taken aback by her boldness. You lift your hands in surrender, which causes Dahyun to laugh heartily.
The door opens again and Dahyun and you jump upon hearing it, taken out of the little world you two found yourself in. You turn to the door to see a young lady with pink hair apologizing profusely “Sorry for scaring you.” she says meekly. Dahyun and you quickly work to attempt to diminish the fears of the young girl as you both wave off her apology citing that you and she should have been paying attention. The girl smiles and hugs Atticus. You tilt your head but say nothing. The young lady then turns to the two of you and says “Hi I'm Jeewon nice to meet you.” Dahyun and you both wave at the girl. When she asks your names
“Mordekai. but everyone calls me Monty,” you say
“Dahyun” Dahyun adds Jeewon smiled brightly as she sat next to the two of you.
"So what are the the two of you playing ?" Jeewon asks brightly
"Avatar Monk," you answer
"Changeling blood hunter." Dahyun follows suit
You clap your hands in approval, "Ooh it gets sexier each time you say it." you say hyping up Dahyun who turns to you and blushes. she hits you and says "Stop it" but her gaze tells you not to stop.
"Are you two dating?" Jeewon asks intrigued.
"Nah we went on one date." You answer. Dahyun looks at you confused.
"Wait...Mountain?" Dahyun says as she realizes who you are. You smirk at Dahyun who smiles at you further. Atticus laughs when he makes the connection that when the two of you did that Rugby tournament a few years back and you said you had a date with a pretty girl was with Dahyun, but before anything else could be said the door opened again and a very bright voice crashed.
"Sorry, I am late. Traffic was really bad" A cheery voice says. As the group turns you see Sana skip into the living room. Sana recognizes you instantly and smiles
"Mordekai! How are you cutie?" Sana says as she envelops you in a clumsy hug.
"I am good noona, how about you?" You reply to Sana
"Oh, you know. being the prettiest in Twice is tough." She said
"Oh come on you know Dahyun's the prettiest." You counter
Sana feigns a pout before smiling at you and giggling. She took her seat next to Dahyun. After that, the rest of the "Party" fills in which includes members from Red Velvet (Irene and Seulgi), one from Twice (Nayeon), and surprisingly one member of Dreamcatcher (Handong). There are also four more guys who show up in this order David, Timothy, Alan, Kento, and Charlie. As more people show up you introduce yourself and appear friendly enough, but for the most part you stick to Dahyun and Atticus (When he's not swooning over Jeewon) as Dahyun speaks the best English and you know her the best. Eventually, Nayeon approaches you and says "Hey so we have a playlist featuring a song dedicated to everyone's character. Do you have anything in mind?
You scour your mind trying to find something but as it goes blank the choice rises from that.
"Power to Tearer." You reply. You notice Kento and Sana look at you as Nayeon nods.
"got it. I'll add it" she says.
Sana slinks over to you, "That's an interesting choice for a Character-inspired song."
"Well I figure this is the only place where it will be appreciated and understood," you reply. Sana smirks.
"You're pretty interesting Monty." Sana coos with a mischievous smirk, that worries you.
After y'all mingled for several minutes Seulgi stepped to the front and said, "Okay now that everyone knows each other partner up and each one of you give backstories for your characters."
you turn to Atticus but when Dahyun claims you as her partner. She seems anxious so you smile and say "Okay" to her.
"So what basic things would you like for me to include?" you ask Dahyun
"I want you to use your best judgment." Dahyun says and you give her a thumbs up and say, "Do you have any idea for a character name?" Dahyun shakes her head before saying just use her name. You nod and when Dahyun asks you the same questions your only response is the name, Montaigne. Dahyun gives you a gummy smile and gives you two thumbs up. you both begin spinning tales about the other as you write. you find yourself connecting with Dahyun more and more as you start looking at her and noticing her little ticks like how she puts her hair in front of her face when she's embarrassed or when she drops something the repeats "Oh mo mo Oh mo mo." It helps you write a more authentic Dahyun (the character)
After you two finish up Seulgi notices and says "OH Dahyun and..." She gestures to you and you give her your name. "Mordenkainen?" Seulgi asks for clarification.
"Mordekai." you clarify Seulgi nods focused and asks for you two to give your partners' backstory. You nod. seeing Dahyun's anxiety you go first.
You stand up in front of the party and muster all the confidence you can," Gather around as I tell you the tale Of Dahyun the Blood Hunter..." You hesitate and turn to Atticus. "Hey, What's the name of the World Again?"
"Daebak" Atticus answers
"Cool." You say to Atticus
"Not Cool, it Daebak" Atticus teases
"I freaking hate you." You reply
"Coming to Paradise from her small religious home of Songnam the changeling knew little of the big city but her hopes for reaching the big time brought the young changeling girl to join a traveling dance group where her comedic skills and quick wit brought her quicker fame, but what captivated people was her even larger heart. despite being a relentless flirt and tease no one could ever stay mad at her. She brought smiles and laughs everywhere she went regardless of her previous disposition there. this kindness was so profound in fact that all who interacted with her had to be careful not to fall under her charms lest be driven to be one of her many admirers, but there is more to the small Changeling. She is feisty and a passionately hard worker who hones her skills and her beliefs on every test she receives and usually passes with flying colors, but why does she do this? What is Dahyun's true motivation? Dahyun's motivations are simple. she wishes to leave the world better than she left it, and do her family and her community proud in her adorable and sometimes clumsy way." You say. Dahyun smiles before clapping. Everyone besides Dahyun, Jeewon, Timothy, Seulgi, and Atticus Looks at you a bit confused. You shrug and hand your notes to Dahyun who says to you "Thank you. I love it." you smile mission accomplished. She stands up courageously and says
"The Hero of Sunrise, The King of Beasts, The Sword of Ruin, the Shield of Restoration, The master of Arms, The Gentle Fist, The War God's Instrument, and The Wiziend One are all titles garnered by The warrior Known as Montu. (You blink thrice at her name, but you smile regardless) Forced into the fight at an early age against all kinds of monsters and Mayhem. Montu grew up quickly adapting and finding his style along the way, but he never lost that spark of wonder that drove him to be larger than life. However in those soft eyes and that Joyous personality hides a sadness and a darkness that desires the destruction of all around him who would disturb his "Endless party".He fights, loves, laughs, and Lives for thrills, but is kind and considerate. He surrounds himself with joy and life. He desires the people around him to feel loved and valued, but beware because he will face any odds and destroy any obstacle to win. Proof of this is when he killed 1,000 men in a battle to secure his home from an invading force. He is a man of Duality. A man of Great Honor and equally Great Ruthlessness. He is confusing but what I can say about him is that he is a Legend in the making that lives up to all of his titles." Dahyun says then you assume she repeats the same thing in Korean. Everyone looks at you surprised to hear Dahyun's backstory for you. You thought you were going to be a normal pit fighter but her words inspired you to be more, but that's just who Dahyun was anyway. you got up and hugged her there were woos and hollers but you didn't care you just carried out the hug and smiled at Dahyun before saying thank you to her. The smile you garnered was the softest yet brightest one yet. You sat down as an energetic Nayeon and Charlie got up
Atticus translated the much less intensive Backstories for you, "Nayeon was a farm girl who rose to prominence performing with Sana and Dahyun, Chrom (Charlie) was a Privateer of the Paradisan Crown. Seulgi was a sorcerous whose power awoke after Her parents informed her of an arranged marriage. So on an Impulse, she and her Tutor Irene left the Kingdom of Paradise and worked adventurer jobs to bide their time. The arranged marriage in question was a Plasmid prince named (Timothy) Thordak who was more interested in Courting the powerful Goliath Herd leader named Handong. Handong was currently visiting Paradise to negotiate Peace talks between her nomadic herd and the crown, but also to meet her Friend The Harekin Warlock Sana, who worked with Dahyun and Nayeon. Her pact with The Powerful Archefey led to several chaotic encounters including A wizard student Named Alan (Alan) who was currently working a magic shop with an Orc Artificer named Demyx (David), and a Twin soul Echo Knight and Captain of the Kingdom Guard named Kaido (Kento)." all that was left was Atticus and Jeewon's backstory.
Jeewon stood up nervously and began her account of Achilles’s (Atticus) backstory it wasn't in English but you were able to manage a few pieces like exiled child warrior, on the run, and very powerful. after that Atticus did Jeewon’s and you kinda spaced out as your brain just couldn't take any more information. After that, Alan stood up and said “Now for the test of strength.” we followed him to the garage where several weight stations were set up.
“The rules are simple we are maxing out on lifts today.” Atticus translated for you. You nod but when Alan turns to you and Atticus he says in clear English
“Not you two. You two will “spot” us. You're both set at 18.” Atticus and you looked at each other sad but understanding why. So over the next hour Atticus and you worked to help the others with their test of strength. No surprise that the top ones were Nayeon and Handong for the girls and Kaido and Chrom for the guys. The next test was one you could participate in and was led by Dahyun. it was the test of Wisdom. The test was simple we have a product we know is less than Ideal on release but need to sell it to gain the capital to sell more how do we sell more products? Most of the responses you heard were good. some on the more shady side but still good nonetheless, but a lot of them failed in a very simple manner from your perspective. None of them mentioned lowering the price. So when it was your turn you gave that as your major first answer and then was honest about everything after that, which led to silence in the group until Dahyun wheezed and said, "FINALLY someone said lowering the price." you blinked three times before Dahyun smiles at you and says "Good answer." you nod confused but accepted the compliment.
The rest of the tests follow this structure and you place well in most so when you get your Ability score distribution you are pleasantly surprised to have all positive scores, but as you looked over everyone else also had higher scores so you don't get too stressed about it. after finishing up basic character design and the like All that's left is to start the game.
session 0
You woke up to another day in Paradise. It was a cool Spring morning which led you to eat on the patio of the inn you were staying in. You ordered a simple breakfast that consisted of egg, pork, spinach, tomatoes, rice, and a couple of pastries you didn't recognize. While you are a very tall and very attractive Goliath woman approached you.
“Hey you are Montu right?” she asks you nod hesitantly until you recognize her
“You Handong you won the tournament yesterday. Congratulations hope the 2,500 gold and magic great sword are to your liking,” you reply. Handing smirks and nods.
“I am surprised that you only wanted third.”
“Well, I have been looking for a bag of holding, and getting third fighting random people seemed like a reasonable way to do so,” you answer. Handing laughs
“You are silly well see you around,” she says. You nod and tell her
“We are all silly in this crazy world, and I wish you well as you navigate it.” Handong chuckled as she walked away from you. After breakfast, you go to the celebration event in the palace where you meet the Queen, King, and Princess of Paradise along with other visiting leaders. You relax at the party by finding a high and dry area (you despise alcohol and its many debilitating effects) while on a balcony one of the performers approaches you. A changeling with jet-black hair and two short blue horns growing from her forehead approaches you timidly.
"Well hello there." you greet the timid changeling without turning around.
the changeling approaches next to you and says, "You are missing quite the party down there."
You shrug and reply, "Well I prefer my celebratory engagements more intimate, and with less show."
the changeling smiles at you and says, "I know a spot that might fit your tastes?"
You turn to the changeling and say, "Oh really tell me more."
The changeling grabs you and states "It's better if I show you.", As the changeling drags you, you ask her name she says "Dahyun," and you smile as you follow her out of the palace where the celebration is occurring.
With that, she whisks you away from the garish and loud party to the base of the hill that borders the capital city's edge. It's a quaint town that is quiet and peaceful. You turn to the changeling and say, "This is more my type of engagement." The changeling smiles as the two of you venture deeper. you find a small tavern where the two of you get Lunch and journey to a book shop where the two of you spend hours reading a book that piques your mutual interest. The changeling loves it when you read to her and nestles in your lap as you read off to her tales of Heroism and Champions of long ago. She falls asleep but is stirred when you begin to stroke her hair.
"Why'd you stop?" she asked groggy as she woke up.
"I didn't wish to wake you sleeping beauty," you say to the changeling whose face blushes a deep azure shade. she smiles at you and your heart begins to race.
"There is one more place I want to show you." you nod and follow her out of the bookshop, but not before purchasing the one you read to her. you store it in your bag of deep pockets and follow her to the cresting hill line where you see the entrance to an inn that houses both Hot Springs and Saunas. Dahyun Checks the two of you in for the night. You get to your room but before you can unwind Dahyun says, "Come on let's try out the couple's springs." You follow her lead into the hot springs and follow her to the dual-gender springs. As she strips before you, you marvel at her shapely ass and dazzling ravenous figure. Dahyun notices and begins to make a show of it. teasing you more and more hoping to get you to make a move, but you remain disciplined, well parts of you do, as you follow her lead she sees your raging erection and smirks at you while licking her lips. eventually, the two of you manage to get to the springs and share another Chaste moment. you sit at the edge and Dahyun nestles in close to your body. As she shuffles to get comfortable you make space for her. when the two of you intertwine in peace Dahyun uncoils herself and you feel all of her tension release.
"This is nice," she says as the two of you watch the sunset from the springs which leads into the night's fireworks show. you nod at peace and are comfortable with her. She kisses your cheek and then turns your face to hers. her breath is soft and heavy. her eyes stare deep into yours. her brown pools stir your manhood to attention once more. she lifts herself to straddle you. you continue to stare at her unable to speak,
"Are you sure?" you ask bashful.
"Why so shy?" Dahyun asks voice hungry with desire but also affection drawing a light groan out of you as your cock grows harder.
"I just never have done this before," you say.
Dahyun smiles and replies, "Let me be your guide." she slides down and takes you inside of her. you moan as the feeling overwhelms you. A moan escapes your lips which eggs Dahyun on. "Let it all out Darling." She says as your hips buck into her. she yelps and moans in response. She moves your hands so one is on her tits and the other massages her ass, but all you can feel is the tightness of her womanhood as she takes more of you in. As she does she draws more of you out.
You stare into her eyes and say “Are you like this to all the champions?”
Dahyun smirks, “no just the reserved ones. The others are usually either not loud enough or too loud for my tastes.” she teases as she grinds on your crotch. You moan again as she gives you the first orgasm of the night. You look up and see stars as you cum in her Dahyun smiles at you. When you finally come down she grins madly at you and says “We’re not done.” and just like that gone is the reserved martial artist. In his place the frenzied and skilled wandering warrior scoops Dahyun. She yelps in joyous surprise as the two of you barely make it to get clothed and back to your room before you're all over each other. The tenderness and shyness of earlier are gone now both Dahyun and Montu are exploring each other’s bodies with earned confidence. In between fights of dominance in the form of fevered kisses Dahyun nibbles on your sensitive ear lobe. You counter by tracing circles around her right nipple. Dayun moans before she climaxes but it doesn't calm either of you down. It only adds more to the wild hunger you have for each other. Which leads to you bending the flexible changeling over and smacking her ass as you ram your cock into her pussy
“Oh gods yes. She screams as you pound into her from behind. You marvel at her fantastic ass as it jiggles as you pound her relentlessly from behind. Your cock is suffocating in her warm and dripping snatch. It's like the rougher you go the wetter and tighter she gets. It makes you grow harder inside as both of you use each other for more pleasure. However, this tempo can't last forever and the both of you cum together.
The both of you can't stop however as Dahyun pushes you into the bed and begins riding you ragged. Her small but perky breasts bounce hypnotically. You reach out and trace circles around her right nipple. This sends her into further ecstasy. It causes her to get tighter and wetter around you. Dahyun her head back and moans vocalizing the pleasure without words. While riding she rings another fervent orgasm out of you while giving herself another. The two of you now finally fall to the bed exhausted. Dahyun spoons you as the both of you drift off to sleep. Your dreams are full of her as hers are full of you.
You wake up to Dahyun facing you. Your body jolts and her eyes flutter open and she smiles brightly at you. She caresses your face. “I know you plan to leave again but can I ask you to stay Darling?” she asks. You nod as she wraps her left leg around and pulls you closer causing your rod to rub against her folds forcing a jolt out of both of you but before anything else can progress Dahyun's bag begins vibrating you point this out to her which makes her sigh as she pulls out a blood red scroll. You notice her face grow pale (well paler her skin was already porcelain adjacent). She unfurled it, read it, and looked up to you with a face of need.
“Darling I know it's a lot to ask, but…” Dahyun began sensing her anxiety you made your move.
Before she could finish you reply, “It's done.”
Dahyun nodded worried and the two of you got cleaned and then got dressed before heading into town. You look back through the pamphlet given to you and notice the couple's hot springs clearly say that the waters have an intense aphrodisiac effect which makes a lot of the haze of last night make more sense. Upon arriving in town you are devastated to see massive burns across the city, but these were not fire burns but electrical ones. You notice Dahyun's shift in affectation and bring her in closer. “No Dragon who rampages will prosper,” you say to alleviate her worries. This works to some degree as some of the color returns to her face. You follow her to the palace where ten vaguely familiar faces (plus the Queen and King) reside.
Nayeon… you think approaches the two of you, “Where were you ?” she says frantically
Dahyun points to you and explains how she was with you at the Kimura hot springs. The rest of the group sizes you up as they vaguely recognize you. You nod curtly and politely.
Handong steps up and says, “So how are we talking this Dragon down?”

Chapter 19 - We're Good
No need to hide it,
Go get what you want.
This won't be a burden if we both don't hold a grudge.
I think it's pretty plain and simple,
We gave it all we could.
It's time I wave goodbye from the window,
Let's end this like we should and say we're good.
Spencer did wake up, but not through lack of trying otherwise. When he did open his eyes, his head throbbed so wildly he felt like someone had it in a vice.
His mouth was drier than the sprawling Nevada desert he’d once called home. His limbs ached violently, his back felt as though he’d been folded in half.
He blinked a few times, trying to work out where exactly he was. He didn’t have any memory past the fourth scotch, after that everything went black.
He was staring at a white surface, possibly a wall or a door which was no more than a foot in front of him, the surface beneath his face was cool and hard, certainly not a pillow.
He’d been laying on his side so he forced himself onto his back and tried to figure out if he knew the ceiling he was now staring up.
It was white with a nondescript light bulb hanging in the centre. A little way to the left there was a large water stain he thought he recognised.
He blinked at it, trying to pull a memory to the front of his fractured brain. Lily was two. Splashing in the bathtub. She threw her little body down so violently in the water she had sent a tidal wave crashing through the entire bathroom.
Spencer had been soaked from his head to his toes. They’d had to replace the old floorboards for porcelain tiles. The kind of cool, hard tiles beneath his back. On the ceiling had been left a large water mark.
He rolled his head to the other side and saw the bathtub next to him. At the very least he’d made it home.
He inhaled deeply before slowly exhaling and pushing himself into a seating position. He groaned, holding his head in his hands.
He’d been hungover plenty of times before but not like this. This felt like the end of the goddamn world.
The toilet seat was up and he could just about see the vomit pooled in the bottom of the bowl. He pulled a face and dragged himself towards it on his hands and knees, shut the lid and flushed it.
Using the toilet cistern he got to his feet, wobbling as he did so. He caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror, his hair a complete mess and little flecks of vomit in the corners of his mouth.
He ran the faucet and washed his face with cold water. Not having the effort to brush his teeth right now, instead he grabbed the bottle of mouthwash and swilled an ample amount around his mouth before spitting it out in the sink.
Looking back at himself in the mirror he noticed now he was shirtless. He frowned, closing one eye in an attempt to aid his pounding head. He let his open eye fall down his body to see he was in fact completely naked.
He shook his head, turning to the open bathroom door. He found his clothes in a haphazard trail along the landing leading to his bedroom.
His bedroom, yes, a bed that’s what he needed. A couple of hours of decent sleep should help cure this rotten hangover.
He stumbled through the door, ready to collapse but stopped short when he saw there was already a figure in his bed.
She was awake, staring at him with a combination of annoyance and frustration. Spencer frowned at her, still wobbling on his feet.
“Uh,” he scratched the back of his neck. “I’m sorry but who the fuck are you?”
“Wow,” she scoffed indignantly. “Just wow.”
Spencer watched through bleary eyes as she got out of bed and started throwing her clothes back on, huffing periodically. He tried to remember where he’d met her, who she was and how she had ended up in his bed but his memory failed him. Once she was dressed again she turned to him and folded her arms across her chest.
“First you can’t get it up and now you don’t even remember me? You’re a charmer.” She rolled her eyes.
“We didn’t sleep together?” He closed one eye again as the room started to spin.
“No,” she huffed again. “You must have drank too much, couldn’t get hard.”
“Of course I couldn’t.” He sighed. “That tracks. Please see yourself out.”
With that he collapsed in a heap on the bed, burying his face into the pillow. He heard her scoff and then her footsteps getting further away. After a minute he heard the front door open and close.
He closed his eyes without protest, not allowing himself to think about how royally he fell off the wagon last night. Maybe he’d never get sober, perhaps he wasn’t able to function without alcohol.
Maybe his kids would be better off living with their mother full time and leaving Spencer to spiral into alcoholism.
Thankfully his brain shut off for long enough to enable him to fall asleep, laying on his front on top of the covers whilst nuzzling the pillow.
When he woke up again, it was with a start, as though he’d been shocked by an electric current. His eyes shot open and his heart was rampantly hammering against his ribcage.
He immediately rolled over in bed, squinting against the onslaught of light through the open curtains. A silhouette stood in the window but he couldn’t work out who or what it was.
“Oh Jesus Christ, Reid,” the voice groaned. “Cover yourself up, please?”
Spencer looked down at his body, still naked and exposed to whoever was in his bedroom. Without much contemplation he pulled the sheet over his lower half and attempted to sit up in the bed.
The shadowy figure got closer and he half thought he was imagining it. He’d lived with his demon so long that maybe they were now coming to life.
When the haze cleared, Emily Prentiss’s face appeared through the fog and she sat down on the edge of the mattress.
“Emily?” He croaked. “What are you doing here? How did you get in?”
“I knocked for like twenty minutes, called you multiple times. I tried the door and it was unlocked so I let myself in.” She shrugged. “By the way, I found your dog shut in the kitchen. He’d almost worn a hole in the door from scratching.”
“Ah shit, I must have forgotten he was in there.” He rubbed his eyes with his palms.
“I thought Tara went with you to a meeting last night?” Emily asked, concern lacing her words.
“She did.” He nodded.
“So what happened? Clearly you’re hungover.”
“After the meeting I went and irreparably fucked up my life.” He pulled a face, pushed his hair back from his eyes.
“What does that mean?” Emily frowned.
“It means I went to see Y/N. I slept with her and then I told her I didn’t really love her and that I only told her that to get her into bed.” He sighed with a shake of his head. “Pretty good night, right?”
“Oh Spence,” she placed her hand on his bare shoulder. His skin was hot and blanched. “You really aren’t yourself lately.”
“No kidding,” he scoffed. “Emily I am utterly lost. I am out at sea with no life raft and I can’t see the fucking shore.”
“You put your feelings over what happened with Maeve on the backburner for so long, it was inevitably going to catch up on you. You met someone, you started to fall for her and then you were reminded of the last time that happened to you. You were reminded of what Maeve did and how much that broke you.” She whispered, gently squeezing his shoulder.
“I’m going to lose my kids if I can’t sort my shit out.” He seemingly ignored her, changing the subject. “Emily, I cannot lose my girls. It will destroy me.”
“You’re not going to lose them.” She gave him one of those looks that always made him feel like she knew something he didn’t. It was hard not to believe her when she looked at him like that.
“How do you know that?” He sighed.
“Because I know you,” she shrugged. “Because you would go to the ends of the earth for Daisy and Lily, you would do anything for them. You raised Daisy whilst working one of the most demanding jobs there is. You raised Lily while your wife was cheating on you. You have raised them both this past year practically alone and they are two of the best kids I have ever met. You are the best dad I have ever met.
You have sacrificed so much for your daughter’s, things much harder than giving up drinking. You’ve got this, Reid, for that I have absolutely no doubt. You will stop drinking, last night was the last drink you ever have, do you understand me? You will go to meetings, you will let me and the rest of the team help you. You will lean on us the way every single one of us has leaned on you at some point in our lives. We’re family Spencer, you aren’t going through this alone.”
His bottom lip quivered and soon a few tears rolled from his eyes and down his cheeks. Sometimes he forgot that they were family. He sometimes thought just because he’d left the BAU he wasn’t a part of that anymore. But family was stronger than that.
“I love you, you know that right?” He sniffed. “I don’t say it enough but I love all of you.”
“That’s the beauty of family,” she smiled. “We already know.”
“I think I’d like to shower and then maybe go to a meeting.” He rolled his lip between his teeth. “Would you come with me?”
“Of course I will,” Emily nodded. “On one condition.”
“What’s that?” He frowned sceptically at her.
“You let me call the rest of the team. I think this is something we should all be together for.”
“Ok.” He nodded. “Ok.”
“I’m proud of you.” Emily smiled as she stood up.
“Don’t be yet, give me a few weeks of sobriety first.” He inhaled, waiting for Emily to leave but she didn’t seem as though she planned on going anywhere. “Uh, Emily?”
“Yes Reid?”
“If you want me to get up you’re going to need to turn around or something. Unless you want another eye full.”
“Oh shit, yeah, sorry.” She laughed awkwardly, turning towards the door. “I’ll wait for you downstairs.”
Spencer slipped out of the bed, ignoring the pounding in his head, just as Emily opened his bedroom door.
Another figure stood on the other side, eyes quickly flicking from Emily to Spencer and his naked form.
“Oh jeez!” Luke rapidly put his hand up to cover his eyes. “What the fuck have I walked in on?”
“Did my house have a revolving door fitted without my knowledge?” Spencer cupped his crotch in his hands. “Where do you people keep coming from?”
“I thought we were taking Taco to the park.” Luke groaned.
“Change of plan, Alvez.” Emily laughed at his obvious discomfort. “Let’s go put the kettle on and I’ll explain everything.”
***
An hour later the BAU team had gathered and sat in the back row of the community hall while Spencer took to the stage.
Gathering the troops had been an easy feat. After Emily had told Luke the whole story over coffee she’d sent a text to Penelope simply stating: Spencer SOS and the address of the community centre.
As expected, Garcia had rallied the rest of them and they all met outside of the building in downtown DC.
Emily was closest to the aisle, JJ next to her who was clutching her hand for dear life. Penelope on JJ’s other side was getting the same treatment.
Luke was next to Penelope, his arm around his girlfriend's shoulder. Matt was next to him offering Luke the occasional glance and gentle smile.
To Matt’s left was Tara who drummed her fingers on her thigh until Rossi, on her other side, placed his hand on top of hers to still her.
Seven of the members of the BAU family sat and watched their eighth member awkwardly stand at the podium, take a deep breath and speak.
“I’m Spencer Reid,” he paused briefly to close his eyes for a second or two and then open them again. “And I’m an alcoholic.”
***
Two days later Spencer opened his front door to be assaulted by his daughters throwing themselves at him.
He was clear headed, forty eight hours sober and feeling surprisingly good.
Ok, maybe good was a stretch. He felt fine, average at best. But having his girls home and the grip in which they held him made him feel on top of the world.
“Daddy!” Lily screeched, burying into his shirt. “I missed you!”
“I missed you too dad.” Daisy sighed in content as she spoke.
“You have no idea how much I’ve missed you two.” He squeezed them tightly, relishing in having them back.
He glanced at Maeve who was standing on the steps behind them, hands in her pockets. Bobby was in his car on the drive.
“Can we talk?” Maeve mouthed at him so the girls wouldn’t hear. He nodded in reply.
“Girls, I think Taco has missed you nearly as much as I have. I think he’s in the yard, why don’t you go find him.” He placed a kiss on both of their heads as they let him go and rushed past him inside the house, screaming the dog's name. “I would invite you inside but I’ve spent most of the last few days packing for the move and the house is a disaster.”
“It’s fine,” Maeve smiled, keeping her hands in her pockets as she sat down on the front step, Spencer doing the same. “The girls said you were moving.”
“It’s time I think. I’m not sure I ever really liked this house.” He chuckled.
“Oh I’m sure you never liked this house.” Maeve laughed too.
“It served a purpose, but it’s time to move on.” He nodded with a wistful smile. “So how was California? The girls seemed like they had a great time.”
“They did, it was so nice to spend that much time with them.” She narrowed her eyes on him, he could see her trying to read him. “How was your week?”
“My week?” He pulled a face. “It was…eventful. Enlightening maybe.”
“You look…tired.” Her eyebrows furrowed a little.
“That’s one word for it.” He exhaled. “I’ve been struggling if truth be told. For a long time. But I’m making some changes, I’m trying.”
“Oh yeah?” Her lip twitched at the corner.
“Yeah,” he nodded. “I’m starting to see things from another perspective. I pushed you away. I was never what you needed me to be.”
“Maybe, but it still doesn’t excuse what I did.” Maeve shook her head sadly.
“It doesn’t. But I think I’m starting to understand. I need you to know I’m sorry for everything I’ve said and done since our separation.” It looked like it pained him a little to admit as much.
“I need to tell you something.” She sighed, rolling her lip between her teeth.
“Did you forget I was a profiler for many years? Not to mention the fact that I know you inside out, even after all this time.” He cocked an eyebrow at her.
“What?”
“Maeve, I knew the second you got out of the car.” He whispered, eyes welled with tears.
She swallowed thickly, feeling her own eyes brimming.
“The girls don’t know yet.” She sniffed.
“They’re going to be thrilled. Lily’s always wanted a little brother or sister. And you always did want that boy.” A tear crept from his eye but he made no attempt to brush it away.
“There is one more thing.” Maeve sniffed again.
“You’ve had your hands in your pockets since you got here.” Spencer shrugged. “Let me see it, Maeve.”
Maeve closed her eyes as a few of her own tears escaped. She removed her hands from her pockets and brandished the large, diamond ring on her finger.
“Wow,” Spencer croaked, a couple more tears rolling from his eyes. “I’m…happy for you.”
“How much did it pain you to say that?” Maeve laughed through her tears and Spencer couldn’t help but do the same.
“Only a little.” He shrugged.
“He makes me happy.” Maeve nodded, swallowing again.
“And I didn’t.” Spencer sighed.
“Don’t say that.” She reached for him, grasping his hand in her own. “Of course you made me happy. I did love you Spencer. We were just never fated to have a happy ending.”
“I’m starting to think I’m not fated to any kind of happy ending.” He huffed.
“I think you already found it but for whatever reason you pushed her away.” Maeve squeezed his hand.
“Who called you?” He rolled his eyes, knowing this had the BAU all over it.
“Rossi, he’s the only one who doesn’t hate me.”
“They don’t hate you.” He shook his head. “I’m starting to think I might hate Rossi though.”
“Blasphemy.” Maeve laughed. “He’s worried about you, they all are. I’m worried about you.”
“I told her I didn’t love her. I told her I lied to her just to get her into bed. I said some horrible things to her. I told her that I couldn’t risk the girls getting hurt again and she accused me of being a coward. She was right.” More tears fell from his eyes. “The truth is I don’t think I can take another hit, I’m barely holding it together. Isn’t it easier to just be alone than risk that kind of pain?”
“Look Spencer,” Maeve gripped his hand tighter. “I think it’s better to have someone. Even if it hurts. Even if it’s the most painful thing you have to do. Even if it’s the most painful thing you ever have to do. I think it’s better to have someone.”
“Jesus,” Spencer choked on a sob. “Stop making me like you.”
“You don’t like me, you love me.” She chuckled.
“Isn’t that a painful truth?” He laughed too.
“You misunderstand me. You love me,” she repeated, letting go of his hand and getting to her feet. “But you’re not in love with me. Not anymore. You called me the love of your life but we both know that’s not true.”
“Isn’t it?” He frowned up at her.
“No,” she smiled with a shake of her head. “We had a great relationship for the most part Spencer. I loved you, I was in love with you. But we weren't the loves of each other's lives.”
“Because yours is Bobby.” He stood up.
Maeve placed her hands on her stomach, not yet showing signs of the life growing inside of her, her ring glistening in the sunlight.
“And Y/N is yours.” She shrugged.
“I’m not so sure.” He shook his head. “But thanks anyway.”
“You’re going to be ok, you have to believe that.”
“I’m trying. Like I said, I’m making changes.” He chewed on the inside of his cheek. “In that vein, I, uh, spoke to my lawyer yesterday. We started drawing up a new custody agreement.”
“New? As in…” she frowned at him.
“The girls will spend one week with me, one week with you. We’ll switch out the holidays every year. It’s still a work in progress but if it's something you would be interested in…” he trailed off and suddenly Maeve was throwing herself into his arms, with so much force he almost fell over.
He tentatively wrapped his arms around her, accidentally inhaling her shampoo. He thought it might cause him to crumble. But it didn’t.
The smell didn’t breed the kind of sad nostalgia of someone who lost his wife to another man. It was a comforting smell, a familiar smell. It was a reminder that he’d loved this woman but no longer felt that way about her.
The simple smell ignited a hope within him that he and Maeve would one day be able to be friends. If they weren’t already.
“Are you serious?” She squeezed him tightly.
“Yeah, I think it would do us all good.” He stroked her back.
“Thank you, Spencer. You have no idea what that means to me.” She sniffed, pulling back a little so she could look at him.
His hands found her face, cupping her cheeks delicately and brushing away her tears.
“I’ve got a pretty good idea.” He smiled at her. “Are we going to be ok?”
“I think for the first time in a long time, we might well be.” She smiled back.
“Truce?”
“Truce.” She agreed.
“You should get back to your future husband.” Spencer leaned in and placed the softest kiss on her cheek before letting her go, both physically and metaphorically.
“A part of me will always love you, Spencer Reid.”
“I should hope so.” He teased. “Now get out of here before you make me cry again.”
“See you soon, yeah?” She spoke as she walked backwards down the stairs.
“I hope so. I really do.” He nodded, watching her go.
It was funny really, he’d never realised the extent of the weight of his hatred towards Maeve until he finally decided to let it go.
As he watched her happily slip into the car and kiss Bobby while toying with the new ring on her finger, Spencer felt lighter than he had done in years.
He was happy for Maeve and Bobby and their future child, really genuinely happy for them.
Maybe one day he’d find that kind of happiness. But for now he was content spending his time with his two girls.
***
Spencer focused the next few weeks on his daughter’s and his own rocky mental health. He went to therapy twice a week, took his medication every day and he hadn't had a sip of alcohol in nineteen days.
The girls spent the week after they arrived back from California with him and they took trips to the park, museums and everywhere in between. The second week he let them spend with Maeve even though the new custody agreement wasn’t finalised, he didn’t see the point in waiting.
And the girls loved spending more time with their mom, even Daisy.
While they were at their mom's, Spencer continued packing up the house, going on long walks and seeing his friend’s when he could to help distract himself from the need to drink.
Or the need to call you.
He’d almost called you over a dozen times but every time he went to, he called Emily instead. When he was craving alcohol he called Tara and when he wanted to boot his dog in the face he called Luke.
He knew there weren’t enough apologies in the world to make up for what he’d said to you and the way he’d treated you and it wasn’t fair of him to keep dragging you into his messy life. He loved you, but he needed to let you go.
Maybe one day, once the dust settled and he had a handle on his problems then the two of you might find your way back to each other. If it was meant to be, it would be.
But for now he needed to focus on himself and the girls. Everything else had to wait.
The day Daisy and Lily were coming back to Spencer’s for the next week, he met Maeve and his daughters in the park.
The girls were having a picnic with their mom while Bobby was at work, Daisy laying on her front, head in her phone, most likely texting Cam. Lily was playing with her new favourite stuffed toy, a surfing otter she had gotten in California.
The girls didn’t know he would be joining them, the four of them hadn’t done anything together since Maeve left. She saw him approach them and smiled at him.
“Hey girls, look who it is.” She nudged them both by their shoulders.
Lily looked up wide eyed from her otter while Daisy took a second or two longer to tear herself away from her phone. His eldest sat up and frowned at him while his youngest grinned the brightest smile in his direction.
“Daddy!” Lily squealed.
“Dad? What are you doing here?”
“Seemed like a nice day for a picnic.” He shrugged as he got closer, slowly lowering himself down to the blanket on the grass, next to Maeve, giving her a smile.
“Nope,” Daisy suddenly shook her head. “Nuh uh.”
“What?” Maeve frowned at her daughter.
“You two are not getting back together. No way, please god.” The teenager sounded incredulous.
“What on earth would make you think that?” Spencer chuckled, rolling his eyes.
“I have not once seen the two of you smile at each other since you split up.” She was frowning at them.
Lily simply looked between them in confusion.
“We are most certainly not getting back together.” Maeve laughed.
“Yeah, never gonna happen.” Spencer chuckled too.
“Oh thank god.” Daisy breathed a sigh of relief.
“Would it really be the end of the world if your parents got back together?” Maeve was still laughing.
“Yes.” She pulled a face. “I love you guys but you are so much better apart.”
“I mean, I can’t say I disagree.” Spencer shrugged.
“Same here.” Maeve nodded. “And you know Bobby and I are getting married.”
“I’m going to be a bridesmaid!” Lily cheered.
“I was just making sure you hadn’t changed your mind.”
“You don’t need to worry, your mom and I are pretty set on this whole divorce thing.” Spencer insisted.
“Well something is going on.” Daisy’s gaze shifted between her parents.
“I do have something to tell you and I wanted your dad to be here when I did.” Maeve instinctively placed her hand on her belly. “Daisy, Lily, you’re going to get a little brother or sister.”
Lily’s whole face lit up and she started rocking back and forth where she sat.
“I won’t be the little one anymore?” She beamed.
“No sweetheart you won’t.” Maeve ruffled her hair.
“Can I have a brother? I don’t want another sister.” She wrinkled her nose.
“Uh, it doesn’t work like that I’m afraid.” Maeve laughed. “Daisy, do you have anything to say?”
“Not that I can say in front of her.” Daisy shot her sister a look.
“Why?” Lily whined.
“Because you’re a baby.” Daisy hissed.
“I am not!”
Maeve and Spencer exchanged a curious look, unsure of what their eldest wanted to say. Spencer sighed before turning to Lily.
“Lil, why don’t you go play on the jungle gym? I’ll be right over.” He asked her softly.
She pulled a face like she might argue but then she huffed and reluctantly stood up.
“Fine,” she sassed him. “But I am not a baby.”
Spencer and Maeve watched her run off towards the jungle gym before turning back to Daisy who had her arms folded and was glaring at them in frustration.
“You guys are the worst.” She spat.
“Excuse me, young lady?” Spencer frowned at her.
“What exactly have we done to earn us that title?” Maeve added.
“You guys slept together?” She hissed, eyes wide. “You’re having another kid but you aren’t getting back together? And you’re marrying Bobby?”
Maeve and Spencer started to laugh out of nowhere, seeing their daughter’s error. Daisy frowned at them while they chuckled heartily.
“Oh pumpkin,” Spencer shook his head. “This is not my baby.”
“We maybe should have said you’d be having a half brother or sister.” Maeve giggled.
“Also I don’t love that you know how babies are made.” Spencer pulled a face.
“I’m fourteen, dad.” Daisy rolled her eyes. “Pretty sure you knew where babies came from when you were fourteen.”
“I had an IQ of one hundred and sixty one when I was fourteen, of course I knew where babies came from.” He clucked.
“So to confirm,” Daisy frowned again. “You did not sleep with-”
“Please don’t say it again.” Maeve cut her off. “No Daisy, we did not. Bobby is the father of my baby, not your dad.”
“Gross so you slept with Bobby.” Daisy pulled a disgusted face.
“Can this conversation please be over now?” Maeve asked no one in particular.
“I’ve got a kid to see about a jungle gym,” Spencer pushed himself up to his feet. “Have fun.”
Spencer left them, heading towards where Lily was hanging from the jungle gym, swinging herself back and forth. He came close to her and placed his hands on her hips and she dropped into his arms.
She wrapped her legs around his waist and arms around his neck while he held her by her thighs. She smiled brightly at him.
“Are you ok, pumpkin? You’re happy about all of this? You’re mom marrying Bobby and having a little brother or sister?” He started carrying her towards the swing set.
“I think so.” She nodded, but she had a curious expression on her face.
“What are you thinking?” He used one arm to hold her, his free hand brushing her unruly hair back off her face.
“If mommy marries Bobby, does that mean he’s my daddy now?” She pouted. “Because I don’t want him to be my daddy. I want you to be my daddy.”
Spencer’s heart wrenched at the mere thought of his kids calling someone else daddy. He grinded his teeth for a moment as he lowered her onto the swing and dropped to his knees in front of her.
“Lily, I will always be your daddy, ok? Nothing is ever going to change that. When Bobby marries your mom he becomes your step-dad, but you don’t have to call him that, you can keep on calling him Bobby. I will be your daddy for the rest of your life, pumpkin. Promise.” He used his index finger to poke the end of her nose and she giggled.
“Ok!” She nodded bouncily. “That’s good because you’re the best daddy in the whole wide world and I wouldn’t want another one.”
He closed his eyes for a few beats, trying to force the tears back.
“And you are the best daughter in the whole wide world, you and Daisy. And I wouldn’t want another one of either of you.” He smiled at her.
Lily gripped the chains of the swing and leaned closer to her father, placing a rather sloppy kiss on his own nose.
“I love you daddy.” She beamed.
“I love you too, pumpkin. You have no idea how much.”
***
Waiting outside of the theatre he checked his watch again and huffed out a breath. The movie should have finished fifteen minutes ago, at least that’s what she’d told him.
He didn’t like this one bit. He didn’t like his daughter going on dates, he didn’t like being made to wait fifteen minutes after a movie finished because Daisy and Cam were doing god knows what. He didn’t like anything about this.
He looked at his watch again, wondering how much time could pass before it was appropriate to go in and look for her. When he glanced back up a set of sparkling blue eyes were staring at him.
“When I was their age, my ex-husband and I would stay behind after the movie finished and make out.” Blair shrugged, sidling closer.
“Wow, I did not need that image in my head, thank you.” Spencer rolled his eyes.
“They’re fourteen, Spencer. They are most definitely making out in there.” Blair laughed.
Spencer pulled a face, looking a little like a moody child being told he couldn’t have ice cream for dinner.
“I was in college by the time I was fourteen and everyone was significantly older than me. Is it normal to be making out at that age?”
“Very,” Blair nodded, leaning against the wall of the theatre next to him. “You really did not have a normal childhood did you?”
“I did not.” He sighed. “I didn’t kiss a girl for the first time until I was twenty one.”
A silence passed between them, the awkwardness of this situation washing over them like a wave. Spencer stuffed his hands in his pockets and rolled his lip between his teeth.
“You didn’t call.” Blair finally broke it, her eyes turned down.
“I specifically remember you telling me not to.” Spencer shrugged.
“Unless you were choosing me.” She nodded. “So you chose then?”
Spencer nodded slowly, inhaling a sharp breath before letting it out through his nose.
“I did.” He caught her eye. “I chose my girls. I chose me.”
“Good for you.” She offered him a half smile.
“I’m sorry for the way things ended. I did intend to call but every time I went to I thought you wouldn’t want to hear from me. I figured with our kids dating it was inevitable we’d run into each other at some point.”
“Did you mean to cringe when you said our kids were dating?” Her smile grew.
“No, that was entirely involuntary. It has nothing to do with Cameron, he seems like a really good kid. I just hate that my daughter is old enough to date.” He laughed.
“And make out with boys.”
“Ok, you have to stop that.” He shook his head, causing Blair to giggle.
Just then the front door of the theatre opened and Daisy and Cameron emerged, hand in hand. The sight made Spencer’s stomach coil into knots and his chest tightened painfully.
And he did not miss his daughter's kiss-swollen lips.
Oh good god, I can’t deal with this.
Blair nudged him in the arm as he was staring awkwardly at them and he desperately tried to push past it and not dwell on the fact his daughter was making out with boys in movie theatres.
Daisy and Cameron joined them, hands still interlocked.
“How was the movie?” Spencer asked, trying to keep the emotion from his voice.
The teens exchanged a look, smirking at each other.
“It was good.” Cameron shrugged.
“Really good.” Daisy agreed.
Spencer pulled a face, wanting the ground to swallow him whole. Once upon a time he would have snatched Daisy away from him, forbade her from seeing him.
He was growing. Or at least he was trying to.
“Can we all go get ice cream?” Daisy asked, looking between them.
“The four of us?” Blair frowned a little.
“Yeah.” Daisy shrugged.
Blair looked at him with a questioning expression and Spencer sighed.
“Seems super awkward. Count me in.” He agreed.
Daisy let go of Cameron’s hand and he and his mother started walking. Spencer hung back with his daughter and eyed her curiously.
“I swear if this is some kind of parent trap…”
“Dad, trust me when I say I do not want you dating my boyfriend's mom.” Daisy scoffed before walking off, catching up with Cameron and slipping her hand back in his.
Spencer didn’t move for a moment or two, simply staring at their entwined hands and ruminating on his daughter’s words.
“Boyfriend?” He grimaced. “My daughter has a boyfriend.”

Riddle Rosehearts
Mans woke up feeling like he hadn’t eaten in 1000 years. He’s glad that you both stayed in his room overnight because he looked over and saw… him? He was high-key panicking and went to his bathroom to check the mirror and saw… you? He took a deep breath and figured that you both must’ve switched bodies somehow.
He gently woke up and was taken aback by how his voice sounded. You slowly blinked, then you saw yourself looking at you. He waited until you were fully awake to explain your predicament. He guided you through deep breaths, and you came up with a plan. You would tell everyone at breakfast so as to avoid any confusion.
Everyone had different reactions. Trey just about dropped the teapot, Cater’s eyes just went wide and jaw dropped, Ace let out an audible laugh (thinking you were joking at first), and Deuce just froze. Riddle - in your body - explained it like this: treat you (him in your body) like the dorm head and treat him (you in his body) like his significant other.
It was one weird first day because Trey had to see if your food preferences remained the same depending on the person or depending on the body that person was in. Cater totally vlogged this whole thing. Ace had to watch his back even more because you were one of the people he could rant to. Deuce was trying his best as well, but he fared better than Ace.
Overall, a solid 7/10 week. Riddle might not have been able to behead anyone, but he was able to put them in a very easy chokehold. And by easy, I mean they almost passed out due to lack of oxygen. Ace can concur that he prefers collars to being choked (don’t take that out of context).
Tumblr media
Leona Kingscholar
You better believe that he was angry that he woke up before the sun rose for no reason other than his body told him to. He decided that he would try to go back to sleep and went to pull you back in when he noticed that he was pulling himself in… oh, shit.
He shook you awake and you had a bit of a shocked face when you saw yourself waking you up. However, it’s not the weirdest thing you’ve seen. You were still quite sleepy since Leona’s physical body was always exhausted, so you quickly came up with a plan where you would pretend to be each other for however long this lasted.
At breakfast, it was a very weird experience. Ruggie most definitely noticed something was wrong when you said ‘thank you’ after he gave you your food. You mentally cursed yourself and just dismissed yourself to eat it in your room, but before you went you told yourself (Leona in your body) to go with you in the most I-don’t-care way possible.
It was a very difficult first day because Leona’s brother decided to drop off Cheka for the day. You (in Leona’s body) were actively playing with the young cub because you personally loved children. The child noticed this, but didn’t mind because maybe his uncle changed?
Overall, 5/10. I would’ve said it was a 4, but you finally got to relax from the stress of being a demon slayer. You got to know what it was like to sleep in and be catered to. Plus, the food Ruggie made was amazing. However, Leona wasn’t really acting like you a lot.
Tumblr media
Azul Ashengrotto
When you both woke up at 6 in the morning, you knew that Azul wouldn’t want to get up immediately. You would normally give him a kiss on the forehead to get his day started, but when you went to do that you screamed. You saw your own body lying next to you.
After hearing your scream, your boyfriend looked around and saw himself on the floor. He was about to go back to sleep before he did a double take and started panicking when he realized he wasn’t dreaming. You led him through breathing and you came up with an idea. You would tell Jade and Floyd, but ask them to not inform anyone else.
Floyd was on the floor laughing while Jade choked back a few chuckles. The 4 of you decided that any appointments for any contract were to be rescheduled, and the excuse was that you got sick and Azul’s taking care of you. Jade got accustomed to it very quickly, but Floyd was having one hell of a time trying to get everything straight.
It wasn't too bad of a first day, and you kept this plan for however long was necessary. Since Crowley already knew, he informed the teachers so there wasn’t any mix up in class. However, your personalities kind of clashed around other students because you as a person were very confident and Azul’s very insecure.
Overall, 8/10. Nothing really changed in the wake up schedule, but everyone had to deal with a very flamboyant octopus and a very insecure demon slayer. Usually, you were the one comforting Azul, but to everyone else Azul (you in his body) was comforting you (him in your body).
Tumblr media
Kalim Al-Asim
He probably woke up before you because your body was acclimated to waking up at 5:30 am on the dot. He was about to go to sleep when he wanted to give you a kiss on the forehead. That’s when he realized that it was his body that was lying next to him and not yours.
He shook you awake and you seemed surprised to see yourself waking you up. It’s one of the few times where you’ve seen Kalim (who’s in your body) panic. After you calmed him down, you decided to catch a few more hours of sleep and tell Jamil once breakfast was served.
Speaking of, you always loved to help the Vice Housewarden in preparing food. So when he sees Kalim (you) marching into the kitchen, he drops the spoon he was holding. You took this chance to explain that you and Kalim had somehow switched bodies overnight. Good thing it was Winter Break and no classes were being held.
For the first day, it wasn’t all that bad. Kalim (in your body) are a lot more than he normally would because of your body’s appetite, and everyone saw a more responsible Kalim (you in his body). You both kept up the high energy, so no one suspected anything.
Overall, another 7/10. Kalim had a lot of strength being in your body, so he wreaked more havoc. Nothing was horribly damaged except for Jamil’s sanity. What’s worse is that Kalim found out about your inability to hear well and he decided that you should receive more assistance once you switch back.
Tumblr media
Vil Schoenheit
You both wake up at a very early time to get the day started. You took one look at each other and Vil screamed while you lunged at him. You thought some impostor had taken over your body when you looked in one of his mirrors. You got off of him and apologized.
You realized that this was a matter that needed a plan, so you sat down. You could be cooperative when you needed to be. You would inform the teachers about the swap and then inform Rook about your predicament.
The hunter had to admit that he did not see that coming. Rook stood there with his eyes widened and jaw dropped. You (Vil in your body) briefed him on the plan while you took to wobbling in the heels that Vil prided himself in being able to wear. As flexible as you were, you thought you would break an ankle.
For the first day, it was horrible for the both of you. You had informed the teachers of what happened, but it was still difficult. Vil loved performing skincare on his (your) face because you always struggled against him, but it stresses him out because you would threaten him by picking up some mud and holding it to your (his) face.
Overall, a 3/10 week. This was stressful for the both of you. Vil’s body was not used to wielding two nichirin blades, so you suffered some difficulty in training. Vil, however, enjoyed the flexibility your body offered and so he did a lot of yoga.
Tumblr media
Idia Shroud
When he wakes up for whatever reason at 5 am, he’s confused. Didn’t he go to sleep 2 hours ago? He decides to look over when he sees his own flaming hair… on his own body. He screamed because he realized that it was his body he was looking at and not yours.
His screaming most definitely woke you up, and you panicked a bit because it was you that was screaming, or something that was inhabiting your body. You looked down and saw your boyfriend’s jacket. You also noticed your new hair. You calmed Idia (in your body), and told him the plan. You would tell the teachers and Ortho about your situation and go from there.
Ortho was shocked. His brother swapped bodies with you? How did this happen? Were you cursed? How long is this going to last? His reaction, although apparent, is very logical. He will go through the internet database to see if there is any solution for your predicament.
For the first day, it wasn’t too horrible. The teachers excused you from your classes since nothing too important was going on. You and Idia spent the day in his room. He taught you how to play a few video games and even though you were horrible, you still tried.
Overall, I would give it an 8/10. It was a pretty chill week. Even though you were in different years, your teachers allowed you to attend classes virtually. It was a very chill week, but it was still weird to cuddle with your boyfriend who was in your own body.
Tumblr media
Malleus Draconia
You both woke up at a very early time, but when you looked at each other to bid each other a good morning, both your eyes widened. It was most definitely an unforeseen surprise, but neither of you panicked over it. It was just a small inconvenience that could easily be worked around.
You both decided that it would be beneficial to tell the others as well as the professors. Lilia couldn’t help but giggle at how funny this whole thing was. Silver was shocked, but he didn’t mind addressing you both the opposite names of what he was used to. Sebek screamed and started to accuse you of cursing the Prince.
The teachers had dismissed you both from class for the day to get acclimated to this swap, so you both spent the most of it cloud gazing and planning for the upcoming few days. You see, your head was always up in the clouds, but when someone brought you back down you got angry. Malleus was very down-to-earth, but open-minded.
The first day was pretty chill. Lilia was helping the both of you try and find a solution to this problem, Silver spent the day sleeping like he always does, but Sebek was on-edge. He was used to always screaming at you to get your head out of the clouds, but now you were in Malleus’ body and he felt like he was being disrespectful to the young Lord.
Overall, 9/10. Even though you (in Malleus’ body) threw a rock at Ace for letting his mouth run, it was satisfying for the both of you. Lilia was rolling on the floor laughing while Sebek was telling you off. Malleus (in your body) defended you.

AU where Gojo as the god of winter saves you during a blizzard because he admires your heart and now you’re stuck under his protection okay that’s all thank you bye!!!
- ₊˚。⋆❆⋆。˚₊ -
“You have to be careful, young one! The storm is dangerous! The god of winter will not be kind to you!”
The apothecary’s words haunt your very soul now as the wind now starts to blow harder. The blizzard is coming, but you will fight through it. You have to.
“Well now, aren’t you a stubborn one!” Out from the wind itself, a twinkling voice calls out to you.
Stopping mid step, you turn to the side.
A mysteriously cloaked man watches you as he leans casually against a tall tree. The robe he wears, thick and heavy, even has a hood fully covering his face.
“This storm is going to be getting worse soon. And yet…you’re out here?” The twinkling curious voice continues speaking to you.
“So are you.” You glare at the stranger who suddenly laughs so bright at your words.
“You’re right! But what’s a cute thing like you out in these wilds? And even without a horse!”
A horse would be too much. And the money you had needed to be spent on the medicine.
“Just a traveler on the road.” You mutter and continue on your journey. This discussion is slowing you down after all.
Instead of leaving you to your journey, the hooded figure stays in step with you.
“So what’s a cute traveler like yourself doing out here during this storm?” His words are curiously perked up.
“Are you going to rob me?” You now flat out ask.
“What?” The hooded figure stands up straighter, almost confused. “No.”
“Because if you are then I’m already warning you I barely have any money and I won’t be worth much.” You think about the hunting knife your father left you and how you might need to grab it soon.
“There must be something valuable in that bag. You’re clutching it as if it’s dear life.” The stranger comments rather intuitively and his words make your heart drop.
You clutch your satchel tighter and freeze mid step.
“It’s medicine.” You answer truthfully while a wave of fear chases into you. “I’m sure it won’t be valuable to you.”
You swallow hard. “Please, please just let me go.”
The stranger stops and a pause floats through the air.
“Who’s the medicine for?” The stranger asks.
You sigh shakily. “My sister.”
Suddenly the hooded figure nods slowly.
“So you’re out here…trying to bring her back medicine.” He comments gently.
You nod. You know it’s foolish. Everyone has told you so. Yet you would brave this storm a thousand times for her.
“Well then, I guess you better get back on your journey.” He says so brightly.
You simply nod and wish him a safe travels.
You walk a few steps, hear the crunch of the snow beneath you. Then when you turn around to check to see if the mysterious man is there - you find he isn’t. Fear fills your chest and you begin walking even faster now.
You hope to at least make it to the next town. You have to.
But the snow comes fast. The wind howls fiercely and you can’t fight against its strength. Your fingers burn. Your body aches. You trip over something in the road and collide into the piles of soft snow. You cry out.
No. No, you have to get up. You need to. You can’t let your body stop you. But the storm has other plans. Your vision becomes blurry and you think it’s because of the wind, but tears sting your eyes.
“You damn stubborn little thing!” The stranger.
His hooded figure comes before you, a striking blot of darkness against the whirling white. Your vision begins fading.
“Medicine...I gotta get home.” You sob out not even fully realizing what you’re saying.
Someone yells at you. You can’t fully process who. But when you blink up you find the hood of your mystery man is whipped off.
You spot hair so white it blends with the snow and the bluest eyes, like the clearest summer sky, stare down at you. He’s gorgeous. You don’t even know if he’s real, especially with how unearthly beautiful he is.
Then your vision goes dark. And the next time you open your eyes, you’re back in your cabin back home.
Who? How? Did that actually happen? And more importantly - the medicine.
Ignoring your grandmother’s yells about how you need to still rest, you instead scramble to your older sister’s room. Still on bed rest, there’s more color in her cheeks as she sleeps peacefully. The medicinal herbs sit on the small table and you fight back the tears.
What had happened?
Your grandmother tells you everything.
“You simply arrived at the door half frozen as if the wind itself carried you home! I still can’t believe it!”
Neither can you.
Later that night when you go to grab more firewood - you swear a hooded figure peeks out from one of the trees and you hear a twinkling pleased giggle that floats through the icy winter wind.

______
“Hey buddy,” I heard as the door from the bedroom to the private balcony opened. I didn’t move from my seat, stayed still and quiet as the door shut behind me. A hand ruffled my hair and I turned away from the touch. “Want to come downstairs and watch Christmas Vacation with everyone? Kids are down for the count.”
“No thanks,” I said quietly, waiting for my brother to leave me alone again. The hand didn’t leave my hair and I closed my eyes. “I’m a little beat after a long couple days. You guys go ahead without me.”
“Thanks for the new toolset. I really like it,” he said.
“You’re welcome.” I opened my eyes slowly, staring at the wood decking, Josh still playing with my hair.
“Next year won’t be as hard. I promise.”
“Well it was a little hard to try and accommodate my children asking for their dead mother for Christmas,” I said. I held my breathing steady, pulling on all of those little acting strings tucked away in the back of my head to stop myself from saying more. “Maybe we can take all the kids ice skating tomorrow.”
“Sure. Mom and dad would like that,” I said. “Maybe get a real smile on that face.”
I stared dryly at the decking, overdue for a power wash but then again, what did it matter. A little bit of must and dirt didn’t bother me.
“I’m not saying six months is enough time to get over what happened. But find a better therapist for me. This one isn’t-”
“Josh I’m tired. I set up everything all by myself this year. I’m just tired is all. I had fun today. I promise,” I said.
“Alright. Get some sleep then baby brother,” he said, ruffling my hair one last time.
“Not a baby,” I mumbled.
“Hey,” he said. I looked back and up at him. “You’re my baby brother no matter what, understand?” I nodded, Josh returning it. “Sleep in tomorrow. I’ll handle breakfast.”
“Maybe,” I said, turning away, glad for when the door slid open and shut once more. I looked back, Josh gone, before leaning forward in my seat. I looked up at the dark cloudy sky, rubbing my palms together. “Honey if you’re up there…”
I squeezed my eyes shut, quickly forcing them open, scrunching up my face.
“I don’t want to feel like this anymore. Nothing. Numb. But it’s been too long and everyone wants me to be better and...I can’t let ‘em down. It’s been six months. I should be better. But I just don’t...help me. Please. You have my back. I don’t know what to do except pretend the rest of my life and I’m scared what’ll happen if I do. It’s been six months and I can’t take it anymore. Tell me what to do. Please.”
A gentle breeze stirred through the air, a quiet rumble of thunder off in the distance.
“Dee?” I glanced up only to be hit in the face with hard droplets of rain, the sky opening up and pouring down. I blinked the water away, staring down at my lap. “You’re not up there. You’re just fucking gone.”
It took a moment for me to make myself rise, bringing water into the bedroom. I locked up and ditched my wet clothes in the bathroom, standing in front of the shower absently. I caught my reflection in the glass, turning to the floor length mirror, tracing a finger over the scar on my hip. I narrowed my eyes, breathing deeply. I caught my reflection, quickly looking away.
But I forced myself to look back, to meet the hard green eyes, meet the pink edges to them, to look down at the scar and then back up.
“The one fucking time you’re not driving…” I grit out, clenching my fists. “I fucking hate you. I fucking hate you you worthless son of a bitch. If you were driving you could have saved her. You could have stopped it.”
I slammed a fist against my thigh, hitting the scar again. I forced myself to stop, release my hand and instead step in the shower. I turned the water to warm and stepped under the stream, closing my eyes. My skin warmed after a few minutes and I got out, changing into a fresh pair of briefs after I was dry. I stood in the closet, almost reaching for a shirt to sleep in when I went to the other side, flipping on the light. It was mostly empty, a few boxes in there but most of it was given away to family and friends or donated.
I stopped at the items still on hangers, grabbing a gray oversized fleece hoodie. I tugged it on, still too big for me even now. Definitely too big when I was a little twenty five year old. I grabbed the collar and tugged it up, taking a deep inhale, narrowing my eyes when all I smelled was a bit of dust. I hit off the light and went out to the bedroom, crawling into the middle.
I hadn’t worn the sweatshirt in a decade, not long after I started dating Danneel. I pulled up the hood and plopped down, sliding under the covers, turning to face her old side of the bed. It wasn’t too long after that I heard the door crack and hushed whispers filled the room.
“I told you he said he was tired. I mean, he did prep for everyone by himself. I’m tired and all I had to do was drive down here,” said Josh quietly. “Let him sleep.”
I shut my eyes, feeling a blanket be pulled over top of me.
“Sleep good, sweetie,” I heard mom say softly. The door to the room shut a few seconds later and I glanced back at it, plopping back down. I was exhausted. That much was true. I’d been exhausted the past six months. First it was the accident but trying to keep up with different projects and the brewery and suddenly being a single dad was fucking hard.
I rolled over and grabbed my phone, typing into google.
“Ten easy steps to finding a nanny,” I mumbled to myself. “If it’s so easy why’s there’s ten fucking steps…”
I sighed and exited back out, scrolling down the page, finding a more promising one.
“I’m thinking of getting a nanny,” I said the next day while I finished a cup of coffee with my parents and siblings, getting a few stares. “Okay. I see y’all have opinions on that.”
“I think it’s a great idea,” said Jared, smiling as he walked in with some bags in his arms. “You could do with the help.”
“You’ve had nannies before. You have a nanny now,” I said, Jared setting the bags of gifts down by the tree.
“Yeah so I know how useful they can be,” said Jared, getting some quick hugs from everyone. “I need to steal him for like ten minutes. Be right back.”
“Coffee,” I whined, Jared grabbing my hand and dragging me after himself. He pulled me over to the front door, letting me slip into some sneakers before heading outside. “What?”
I was pulled into a bear crushing hug, waiting a beat before I returned it.
“How’d it go, Christmas eve and Christmas and all that,” asked Jared.
“It was great.”
“We don’t lie to each other.” I rested my chin on Jared’s shoulder and closed my eyes.
“Hard,” I said quietly. “Dee’s parents are coming in today.”
“I know they are,” said Jared, rubbing my back.
“You’re supposed to be down at your parents place with your family.”
“I’m supposed to be with my brother. Don’t start your defensive shit. I thought you and your therapist were making some good progress on that.”
“I know,” I said. I hated that stupid lie I’d told. Hated every time someone brought it up. Especially hated when Jared did.
A small piece of me wondered if Jared would leave me too if he ever found out.
“Hey, hey,” said Jared, tugging me around the corner of the garage, holding me up when I started to cry.
“Don’t tell them or anyone,” I said, wiping the tears away with the backs of my hands. Jared caught my arms, my bottom lip wobbling. “Please. They treat me...if they see me get upset…please.”
“I won’t tell,” he said, wiping off the rest of my face while I cleared my throat.
“I good?” I asked, rubbing off my face. I blinked a few times, Jared nodding. He caught my shoulder, gnawing on his bottom lip. “Jared you promised.”
“I’m not gonna tell. I just hate that you’re afraid to let your family see you cry.”
“To be fair I hate to let anyone see me cry.”
“What makes me so special?”
“You’re you,” I said, a small smile on Jared’s face. “Our asses our stuck together forever whether we like it or not.”
“Oh I’m gonna annoy the shit out of you in the afterlife, don’t worry about that,” he chuckled. I nodded, glancing down. “I think the nanny idea is really good. You need help getting the kids to school and daycare and running errands. I mean your parents came up when you went out to LA for your suit being built but...you’ve got to be in Canada for The Boys in February. You’re gonna need help working full time again.”
“I know. I’m so tired all the time. I know that’s why I’m upset. I just need some sleep man.”
“How about tomorrow once everybody’s headed home, you guys come hang out at our place. We can help with the nanny stuff. We’ve been through it. We know the good agencies in town. Gen’s got a whole file on all that stuff.”
“I was thinking of a live-in nanny?” I said. “Is that weird? I feel weird enough having some stranger come in.”
“It’s not weird. I mean you got the guest suite near the garage. If anything you don’t have to stress so much. Someone’s right down the hall. It’s a great idea. I’m proud of you.” I raised an eyebrow, Jared rolling his eyes. “What, I can’t be proud of you?”
“Why? I have to hire a nanny because I can’t figure out how to do it alone when there’s only a gajillion other parents on the planet that don’t have a choice of-”
“You’ve been shitty at asking for help since I met you you know,” said Jared. I shrugged, Jared catching my arm. “I know this is the last thing in the world you want to do, admit you need help, but you’re the one that decided you need a nanny. No one talked you into that. You did that even though you don’t want to. That’s why I’m proud of you, jackass.”
“We were going to get one before…to help Dee out more. When I was away,” I said. I nodded, taking a deep breath. “Next year will be better. I’ll get back to acting, things’ll feel more normal.”
“Don’t go and turn into an optimist on me Jackles. I need my grumpy old man,” chuckled Jared.
“Old man my ass,” I said with a smirk. “You headed back?”
“Nope. Sadly your ass is stuck with me all day,” he said. I smiled, heading back around the front of the house with him.
“Mind giving me some back up in there with all the nanny questions I’m about to get?”
“Duh,” he said. “But first let’s finish your coffee before you bite someone’s head off.”
It’d been three days and I had narrowed it down to three nanny agencies in town. I’d gotten about fifty applications to sort through for interviews, rubbing my hands over my face after reading through most of them.
“Dad! Can I have sugar cookies?” asked JJ, skipping into the office. I glanced at the clock on the wall, an hour past bedtime for all three of them.
“Gettin’ kind of late kiddo. Why don’t you head up to bed and brush your teeth. I’ll be up to read in a minute, okay?” I said, forcing a smile. She stared me down, a look I recognized all too well. “JJ.”
“I know how to read,” she said with a huff.
“Well I guess you don’t need me for anything anymore huh?” I said without thinking, watching her face fall. “Honey-”
She took off running and I sighed as I sat back and stared up at the ceiling. I shook my head and got up, wandering upstairs, surprised to find the twins in bed asleep. JJ was in the middle of her bed, angrily holding her dog. She shot me a dirty look, a perfect match to my own.
I sat down on the edge of the bed, reaching out and tucking her hair behind her ear.
“You put your brother and sister to bed for me?” I asked.
“Yes,” she grit out.
“You don’t have to do that, sweetie. That’s my job.”
“You have to do everything by yourself now. It’s not fair.”
“No it’s not. You’re too young to learn that life isn’t fair, even if you do everything right.” She scooted over into my lap, burrowing herself into my arms.
“We were good. Why didn’t Santa bring her back?” she asked. I tucked her head under my chin so she couldn’t look up, closing my eyes and scrunching up my face.
“Santa can do a lot. But he can’t do that. No one can,” I said. I stroked her hair, holding her tight. “It’s okay to miss mom still.”
“I know it is. I’m just scared.”
“Scared of what, munchkin.”
“I don’t want you to go.” I looked up, swallowing down the lump in my throat.
“I’m not going anywhere,” I said. I kissed the top of her head, wrinkling my nose. “How about we save that cookie for a snack tomorrow, okay? I promise we can spend the day playing. I just have to do a little more work tonight.”
“Okay,” she said. She didn’t move and I didn’t have the heart to do it myself. It was one of the rare moments when one of the kids crawled in my lap, crawled all over me playing and poking and kicking, diving into my bed, waking up to one or all three of them having stolen my covers in the night...I could forget for a few seconds. Things were okay.
A few seconds later though she moved and I was biting the inside of my cheek. I put on a smile, tucking her in and turning on her light in the corner before hitting off the overhead one and shutting the door. I went back to my office, staring at the screen. I reached a hand over to my phone on the desk but stopped myself. Jared had spent the whole night before with me.
“You’re fine, you’re fine, you’re fine,” I breathed out quietly, clicking through to the next nanny profile.
Y/N Y/L/N. 29 Years Old. Home Pair Consultant 3 years. Nanny Core 2 years. Nanny Core Consultant 3 years. Independent Contractor Nanny Services 3 years.
“Certified in CPR and first aid. Homeschool certified K through 2nd grade. You sound like a little over achiever, don’t you,” I mumbled, reading through the rest of the page. “Specializes infants to age ten. Okay what do your ex-employers have to say…”
I found similar comments to some of the previous women, all nice things, got along with kids great, very easy going, etc. But one made my eyes go wide and chuckle.
She didn’t sleep with my skank of a an ex-husband when he pursued her. She brought this news to my attention discretely and regularly took on additional time with the kids while I met with divorce lawyers. It was unfortunate that I could no longer afford to employ her on a single income but she truly cares about the family she works for. My daughters cried for a week when we had to end our services with her but I was very grateful she didn’t brush the incident under the rug.
“Yeah, I think you’re getting an interview for that alone,” I said with a tiny smile. “But what the fuck is a consultant…”
It took a few days but eventually I had the eight prospective nannies lined up for interviews on Saturday. So far all seven were very nice ladies but I just could not stand the thought of occupying the same room for more than an hour let alone have them live in the house. The issue must have been with me if none of them seemed like a good fit. I really didn’t want to be doing this and I must have been putting off some strange vibe.
“Maybe I don’t need a nanny. Maybe...maybe I just don’t need a nanny. I can do this. I can do this on my own. If I just manage work around the kids schedule...and mom and dad come down and watch the kids while I’m up filming and if I fly back and forth every week and mid week...I can do this. I can do this. I don’t need a nanny. I got this. I so got this.”
I sighed when I recalled the same pep talk two weeks ago I’d given myself. The one that led to contemplating quitting acting that night and then proceeding to lay in bed crying half the night.
“Nope. Nope. We just have to calm down. Calm down. It’s not you. Just didn’t find the right one yet. That’s all,” I said to myself, breathing quietly. I rubbed my eyes and yawned, looking over at the coffee maker. “Oh coffee. At least I’ll always have you.”
The doorbell rang and I sighed.
“Great. You’re early,” I groaned. I threw my head back and went to the front door, tearing it open. A woman stood there in a pair of dark jeans and sneakers, a plain light gray t-shirt on, hair pulled back in a ponytail, a few strands falling loose and framing her face.
Oh well she was definitely the cutest by and far.
I realized I was staring and blinked, rubbing my face.
“Hi. You must be from Nanny Core,” I said. She smiled and cocked her head.
“I’m Y/N Y/L/N from Home Pair,” she said. I closed my eyes and rested my head against the side of the door, contemplating just slamming it right against it.
“The last girl was from Nanny Core,” I said, opening my eyes, shaking my head. “I’m so sorry. Yes, Y/N. You’re the one that’s a consultant, not firmly associated with Home Pair, right?”
“Correct,” she said, stepping inside when I let her past. She looked around and smiled, seemingly used to a larger sort of home.
“May I ask what the distinction is?”
“Mostly it has to do with benefits,” she said. “Consultants pay out of pocket for their own or negotiate with their client for those to be covered.”
“Gotcha,” I said with a yawn. Great I looked like a fucking asshole. She looked ahead past the front hall towards the back of the house where the kitchen and family room was. I wiped a hand over my face, a pit already in my stomach, the poor girl already probably already waiting for the interview to end so she could leave. “I’m sorry. I must seem like an ass.”
“You seem tired is all Mr. Ackles. Not a crime,” she said with a smile. I wasn’t expecting such a genuine answer, not a bullshit I’ll pander to you cause I want this job, kind of answer. She was different than the other applicants for sure. Something warm and caring to her. I nodded and found myself smiling, probably the first genuine one I’d had in months.
“Mind if we do the interview in the kitchen over a cup of coffee?” I asked.
“Wherever you like, sir,” said Y/N. I started to head over to the table, pausing when she was trying to kick off her sneakers, one of them tied a bit too tightly to go off easily. She hopped once, nearly tripping and I looked away, chuckling quietly before she was by my side again.
“Uh, for the record, call me Jensen. None of that sir stuff. They must teach that at nanny school or something huh?” I said. I led her over to the table, pulling out a chair. “I noticed all of you do it.”
“Something like that,” she said. She took a seat and I stifled another yawn, turning and blinking my eyes, heading to the coffee machine. I reached for the cap to put some grounds in, the thing falling and bouncing across the counter, straight into a dirty bowl in the sink. Naturally. I leaned over the counter, holding the edge tightly, squeezing my eyes shut. “How about I make the coffee and you take a seat, hm?”
“I’m okay,” I said, popping my head up and turning around with a smile. She looked me up and down, something gentle about her.
“Well making you coffee is probably going to come up in my job quite a bit so consider this part of the interview. It’s alright, really,” said Y/N. I stared at her, a little smile forming on her face. She wasn’t sucking up or trying to kiss my ass. There was a kindness to her that was incredibly attractive. Something in that little smile causing the tiniest little flutter. I blinked, slipping past her.
“Thank you,” I said. She started to make a cup, keeping my back to her. I put a hand on my chest, the flutter dissipating. After a moment I sat down, turning back just as the cup started to fill up. She watched it carefully but with an ease that said she was used to working with that kind of maker. Her hand slipped into her back pocket as she shifted on her feet, her ass rounding out amazingly in her jeans.
What the fuck was wrong with me? God she was only making a cup of coffee for fucks sake.
“I’m gonna ask you the same question I’ve asked all seven other women I’ve talked to today,” I said, forcing a smile when she picked up the mug.
“Yes?”
“Why should I trust you to watch my children?”
“Honestly?” she asked. I nodded and she had that look on her face again. Soft. Slightly concerned. Still smiling. Beautiful. She set the cup down in front of me, a look to let it cool, the barest glimmer of a smirk when I reached for it anyways. There was another flutter in my chest and I took a long sip, burning the tip of my tongue. Part of me hated it, hated that it was possible to develop an attraction to anyone else. But that other part...it was so happy to be feeling something again, especially something good. “You shouldn’t.”
“I shouldn’t. That seems counterproductive.”
“I wouldn’t trust any stranger with my child. Trust is earned, not given. I think the real question is do you believe I’m capable of earning that trust with you and that’s something intrinsically only you know.”
“How so?”
“You meet a lot of different kinds of people with this job. My gut reaction to you is stressed, overwhelmed, sleep-deprived father who doesn’t really want any nanny at all but is forced into this situation. It’s going to be impossible for you to trust any of the seven woman from earlier or me off the bat, Jensen. You should be thinking of who will you come to trust. Who can you count on.”
“This is why my wife should have been the one doing this,” I said. I took a sip of coffee, biting back a small smile.
“We could always re-schedule for when she’s available.”
“Oh, we’d have to wait a very long time for that,” I chuckled. She looked lost and I realized it was time for that part of the interview again. I smiled, hoping she wouldn’t feel awkward. “She passed away unexpectedly six months ago. Car accident.”
“I’m sorry for your loss,” said Y/N. I nodded, pursing my lips, catching her open her mouth after a beat. “My mom died kinda unexpectedly. I know it’s…harder.”
“You’re young. How old?” I asked. She shrugged, glancing down.
“Turned thirty today,” said Y/N. She was cute, still young but she was starting to click. Her kindness, that air about her. Maybe she could sense something going on but was too polite to ask. I let out a small laugh, shaking my head when she started to frown.
“Well Happy Birthday. I meant with your mother though. If that’s okay with you I mean.”
“It’s fine. I was sixteen,” she said. I dropped the smile and took a deep breath. No one deserved that. Especially not a kid. I was a grown man and I could barely handle a loss that close. But she seemed...okay.
I just wanted to be okay again. It’d been too long though and I cleared my throat.
“That…fucking sucks doesn’t it?” I said.
“So does losing your wife,” said Y/N. I nodded and offered a soft smile.
“Yes it does. I’ve grieved. We all have. The kids are small. They’ll be okay.”
“Is dad okay?” she asked. Not really but that was far too much to put on anyone, especially a stranger.
“Yes. Ready to start moving on with life again,” I said, looking her up and down once. I hope she accepted the offer. She didn’t have to be perfect. She didn’t have the most certifications out of all of the applicants but she was the only one I genuinely enjoyed being around and that was the most important thing at the end of the day. “You’re kind. Not in a I’m trying to get this job kind of way. Just kind.”
“Well being cruel doesn’t sound like very much fun.”
“You’re not trying to impress me.”
“The first rule of nannying, Jensen. You think you’re interviewing us when in reality we’re interviewing you too.”
“How am I doing so far?” I asked, realizing after the words were out how flirty it sounded.
“Nice coffee choice,” she said with a smile. “You respect people. You’ll employ me but won’t treat me like I’m second class. You’re checking the boxes so far.”
“What if I don’t check all the boxes?” I asked.
“You don’t get to know the luxury of knowing the answer yet, Mr. Ackles,” said Y/N. “Interview isn’t over.” It wasn’t arrogance in her voice when she spoke though. Almost careful, protective.
“You got fucked over by somebody, didn’t you.”
“Also perceptive,” she said, rubbing her arm absentmindedly. “Like I said, I don’t tolerate being treated unkindly anymore. It’s why I left my last position.”
“I have one more question. Would you treat my children like they’re your own?”
“Again, asking the wrong question,” she said. I sat back and crossed my arms, smirking at her. She gave it right back and I nodded.
“What exactly should I be asking?”
“Will you treat my children kindly and with respect but take charge when required?”
“What’s the difference?”
“One is me doing my job and the other is me doing yours.”
“How old did you say you were again?”
“Thirty today.”
“Right. Well I think I know where I stand. Do you have anything for me?” I asked. Hopefully she just accepted the pay offer without a fuss.
“Can you show me a picture of your kids?” she asked. I stared for a brief moment before reaching back and taking out my wallet. “You answered my question.”
“I didn’t show you anything yet.”
“You’d be surprised how many fathers I’ve met don’t carry pictures of their children in their wallets. That one is just a me thing.”
“Your dad do that?” I asked, putting it back. She made a face, looking away.
“Maybe,” she said with a shrug. She didn’t look back for a long moment. Dead mom at 16 and distant dad. It wasn’t a stretch to see how a girl like that wound up nannying straight out of high school. “I think I know where I stand as well.”
“I’d like to hire you,” I said. She smiled and I instantly relaxed, aside from a few flutters stirring again.
“Assuming our negotiations go well, I accept,” she said. We shook hands, hers small and soft, but the grip was solid. Kind but she’d kick your ass if she had to. I smiled, flutters going off stronger now that the nerves of finding someone were dwindling.
“I did come up with what I thought was fair for salary and benefits. Let me go grab the paperwork and hopefully settle on something,” I said. I went down to the office, grabbing the pile of offer papers off the desk and a notebook. I froze when a pleasant chill ran down my spine.
I was happy because I’d found a good fit. I was excited over a lot of stress being gone.
That was it. That was it.
I swallowed and went back out to the kitchen with a smile.
“If I’m missing anything let me know. I-”
“This is my weekly rate?” she asked when she reviewed her pay sheet.
“Oh no. That’s your daily,” I said as I sat down. I swallowed when she put the paper down. “So I think that’s-”
“Jensen. I have to ask, things like insurance, are those coming out of your pocket or mine?”
“I’ll cover the expenses of your health, dental, all of that. You just choose and I’ll subsize it as part of your paycheck.”
“This is for a live in position. Um…can you just…explain what makes up that daily rate number?” she asked. I cocked my head. I thought I’d spelled it out in the paperwork but I probably missed something.
“It’s simply your base pay. Obviously I pay for housing, utilities, gas obviously. I will get you a credit card to make purchases with for the kids and all of that so it’s simple to keep track of. You’re free to any of the food in the kitchen. I’m guessing the salary is the sticking point here.”
“Jensen,” she said, scratching her head.
“I can go up fifty more dollars a day,” I blurted out.
“Jensen. This is way, way too much money. Way too much,” she said. “The average rate around here is about twenty five an hour or two hundred a day. Jensen this is double that. Are you factoring in like time and a half for additional nights and weekends?”
“No. That’d be on top of that. I thought that was a fair value based on the fact you are going to be taking care of the most valuable things in my life. It’s gonna get taxed too so it’s not like you see all of it.”
“You’re sweet, Jensen,” she said, writing down a number at the top of the page. “The average in Austin is twenty five an hour. I would be very happy with that.”
“You have to literally be the first person in existence to negotiate their salary down from the offer,” I said, shaking my head. She was watching my kids. She deserved to be paid well for doing her job well.
“Are you rejecting my offer?” she asked. She stared and I took the paper and crossed her number out, jotting down thirty five and spinning it back. “Jensen.”
“Y/N,” I said, crossing my arms. Why couldn’t she just accept? She scowled and I huffed. Of course she had a stubborn side. “I came down. Now it’s your turn. Do you accept?”
“I will accept on the condition that you get four hours of what we’d call evening or weekend at the normal rate every week.”
“I can agree to that,” I said with a smile, writing that down, happy when she signed the page. “So medical plan. Single, plus one, family?”
“Single for all that.”
“I should mention that there is an in-law suite off to the other side of the garage where you’ll be staying. It’s just down the hall but it has its own small living area and kitchenette. There is a separate entrance to it. If you have guests over I just ask you keep them to your area of the house.”
“Absolutely. I don’t tend to bring people over much anyways while I’m on the job,” she said. “Alright. Everything looks good to me.”
“Awesome. Are you available to start Monday?”
“Sure,” said Y/N. “It gives me plenty of time to move in things tomorrow so I can jump into the kids routine first thing Monday.”
“Perfect. I’ll show you around. We can start with your side of the house.”
I got up and Y/N followed me down to the guest suite in the front corner of the house. I opened the door for her, Y/N slipping inside and looking around. It wasn’t large but it was decent enough for one person.
“Like I said, I know it’s small. Please like, seriously watch TV out in the family room at night if you want or hang out wherever or the yard or pool. This is just your own space when you want to be away from us.” I said. I got a hum out of her and showed her the rest of the space, Y/N running her hand over the bedding. “If there’s something obvious I’m missing please let me know. A cleaning service does come by every two weeks on Tuesdays at around ten in the morning. They’ll do in here too. Otherwise you can keep after yourself. Cleaning stuff is in the laundry room. Oh yeah. Um, this is probably the last time I’ll like, ever come in here unless you need help moving things in since this will be your space.”
“Thanks. I don’t have too much. I do have one request before we sign all the paperwork.”
“What’s that?”
“I’d like to meet the kids if that’s alright. There’s not much point in hiring me if they hate me.”
“Fair point. We’ll get ‘em over here and then get you all squared away,” I said. “One second.”
“Of course,” she said. I stepped out of the suite and ducked into the garage, Jared answering on the second ring.
“Get through all the interviews?” he asked.
“Yeah. I uh, hired the last girl. She’s great. Super qualified, really get along with her,” I said.
“Good man. I’m glad you found one. When’s she start?”
“Monday. But she wants to meet the kids, says if they don’t like her there’s not much point in her doing this.”
“Smart lady,” chuckled Jared. “I’ll drop ‘em off in ten. You can tell me how it went when I get there.”
“Sounds good,” I said. I shoved my phone back in my pocket, smiling for a moment when I stepped back in the hall and caught a whiff of her perfume. I went back to the doorway, Y/N fumbling with the curtain in there. “Uh so is there anything I can get you? For your room?”
“No, this is great. Can I check out the rest of the house?” asked Y/N. I hummed and followed her as she wandered around the downstairs a bit, poking her head in the office and home gym, spotting the laundry room and humming.
“The playroom is downstairs, kids and me are up,” I said. “There’s a loft and little reading room up here too if you like that sort of thing.”
“Your home is beautiful,” she said, walking up the stairs, following me down the hall. She smiled when she entered, looking at the bookcase. “You read these.”
“Hm?”
“Some people buy pretty books for their home libraries. But these are all random, a little messy. You read,” she said. She stopped at the sliding door out to the small balcony, looking out at the yard. “Your house feels homey for how large it is.”
“Thank you,” I said. “Anywhere besides my room is free to use.”
“Of course. I take it you do your own laundry then?” she asked.
“I’m a big boy. I can do my own laundry,” I said. She hummed, spinning back with a soft smile. “Um. Y/N. Chores and things like that...those are my responsibility, not yours. You’re here to-”
“I have to do some chores. It’s part of taking care of kids. My job is to take care of them but also make dad’s life easier. If I have to wash a bedspread or go get juice from the store or whatever it is, I’m gonna do it. I’ll hang back but I’ll also do my job.”
“Understood. You’ll let me know if I’m stepping into your territory?” I asked. She shook her head and hummed, walking past me and out to the hall, going down to the kids rooms. “I miss the joke?”
“I’ve worked for one other single parent before and three divorced ones. They couldn’t do jack shit for their kids. They barely knew them. I don’t think I’ll have that problem with you Jensen,” she said.
“To be honest I’d rather not be doing this,” I said. She didn’t seem disappointed in that strangely, more, sad almost. “But I’ll get the hang of it.”
“Yes you will,” she said, stopping outside Arrow’s room. “Youngest daughter?” she said, pointing inside.
“I’m sorry. We were looking for what is youngest daughter,” I said. She rolled her eyes and smiled, following me inside. “This is Arrow’s room. She and my son Zeppelin are twins. He’s across the hall.”
“I’m going to guess four years old?” she said.
“How’d you know?” She smirked and pointed at a birthday card sticking out from the bookcase, a large 4 on it. “You’re very observational.”
“I’ve nannined a lot of 4 year olds. Their rooms tend to be organized chaos,” she said. She looked out the window, back to the room.
“Can I ask why you do that?”
“Fires,” she said with a shrug. I blinked, not even considering that for a second. “Never hurts to be over prepared. I’ll learn the house soon. This is your son’s room?”
“Yeah,” I said, following her across the hall, Y/N popping out after a moment. “My oldest is next door. The kids have a bathroom they all share across.”
“What grade is she?” asked Y/N, stepping into the room.
“First. Second. Second,” I said. “She’s seven.”
“What’s her name?”
“JJ. Well, Justice Jay, but she’s always JJ.”
“What was your wife’s name, if that’s okay.”
“Danneel,” I said with a quick swallow. She smiled, laughing to herself.
“Should have known with names like that mom had to have something unique too,” she said. “So JJ is in school. What about the little ones? They have daycare?”
“Yeah they go to daycare normally five days a week but sometimes if it’s a quiet day I don’t have them go. Or one goes and I spend some time with the other. They already know how to do shit I didn’t learn until first grade,” I said.
“This one’s a reader too,” she said, picking up a book from the nightstand. “She’s ahead for her age.”
“That’s what the school tells me. If only she was as good at her math,” I said.
“It’ll click for her eventually. She’s smart. Probably a visual learner. I used to draw problems out myself,” she said, setting the book down. “Any after school activities? Sports? Clubs?”
“I have a calendar I’ll show you. It’s the only way I keep it straight,” I said. She went past and to the hall, glancing down the long stretch of hallway, a pair of double doors on the other end. “That’s my room.”
“Okay then,” she said.
“I mean...you can look if you want.”
“I’m going to give you the same courtesy as well. I won’t be going there unless there’s an emergency.” I nodded, turning to head back downstairs, accidentally bumping her.
“I’m so sorry,” I said, Y/N giggling and shaking her head at me.
“Dude. Relax. My job is to make you more relaxed so get on that, okay?”
“Okay,” I said, rubbing the back of my neck.
“What am I gonna do with you Jensen,” she teased, heading back down the hall and her feet on the steps down after a moment. I glanced down and put a hand on my stomach, sliding it up to my chest. I shut my eyes, taking a deep breath.
I was nervous. Or excited. Or something. Happy to have found a nanny. That was all. That was really all.
“Y/N I’ll be down in a minute. The kids should be here soon,” I called, quickly ducking into my room and closing the door. I sat down against it, staring ahead blankly. “It’s a crush. S’just a crush.”
I squeezed my eyes shut, pressing my palms against my head.
“Jensen,” said Jared and I jumped, the door pushing open. I looked up, Jared quickly shutting the door and kneeling down. “What’s wrong? What happened?”
“Where’s Y/N?” I asked, blinking a few times.
“Playing with the kids in the yard. They kinda love her already. What is going on?” he asked. I held up a hand before shrugging. “No no. You’re not getting off the hook that easy. What happened?”
“She made me coffee,” I said, Jared making a face.
“I don’t understand what you’re-”
“Do you remember when you met Gen? You couldn’t get her out of your head for weeks. That feeling when...some part of you knows something you don’t?” I said.
“Jay. What are-”
“Do you remember?”
“Of course I do. Why?”
“I just had it for the second time in my life,” I said. Jared sat down on his bottom, crossing his legs. “I’m kinda freaking out.”
“Y/N?” he asked. I nodded, Jared sliding over next to me. “I mean she’s pretty. She’s beautiful. You might just have a crush. I mean you don’t go anywhere anymore except the store or work or doctors appointments. Maybe it’s just cause she’s new...and you know the difference between a crush and something else. You’re sure?”
“Not to be a complete fucking sap but I only ever felt like this once in my life and that was after that first real conversation with Dee I had when we carpooled. It took me a week to figure out what it was but I knew and it’s that same…” I said. Jared nodded, throwing his arm over my shoulders. “I barely know the girl. It’s a crush. It’s a crush. That’s it. That’s all it is. That is all that it is.”
“Not to be a complete fucking sap myself but when you know dude you fucking know. You’ve been through it once and you know what it feels like. Maybe...maybe it is just a crush. But maybe she’s the one that’s gonna get you to be fucking happy again. Maybe get you back out there at least. Maybe she’s just a jumpstart huh? Not saying you’re gonna marry the girl or she’s your soulmate but maybe she’s what you need right now, right?”
“Jared. I was never going to date again. Ever. Pretty women...I didn’t care about them. I don’t think I’ve even gotten off since the accident. I just wanted to be a good father and be good at my job and that was all that was left for me,” I said. Jared sat up and shook his head but I shook mine right back. “I know that’s not what I told you but you just wouldn’t shut the fuck up about that shit so I told you what you wanted to hear.”
“Ignoring that fucked up shit, which we’re gonna fucking talking about,” he said as I rolled my eyes, “What are you saying?”
“I’m saying I swore off women forever and now my stomach is doing flips like it’s my first middle school dance but it’s…”
“It’s what?”
“I talked to her for half an hour. That’s the best fucking half hour of my life these past six months. Easily. I don’t feel like shit around her and right now, I don’t feel like shit and I forgot how fucking good it feels to not feel like shit. Do you understand?” I asked. Jared nodded, pulling me into a hug. “What do I do?”
“Not feel like shit,” he said. I groaned and he rested his chin on my shoulder. “Jared.”
“If she makes you feel good and happy when you actively were against those things, what do you think she’ll be able to do for you if you give her a real chance?”
“I’m her boss. And Dee-”
“Dee doesn’t want you to spend the rest of your life being a good father and good at your job and feeling like shit and nothing else. She wants you to fall in love again and fall as hard as the first time.”
“It’s just a stupid crush,” I said. I stood up, walking across the room, putting my back to him. Only a second passed before I felt him behind me, a hand on top of my head.
“Maybe it’s a stupid crush. Maybe she is the start of your life again too.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” I said, his hand sliding down to my back.
“Remember the first time I helped you shower after the accident?” he said, curling his fingers around my waist. “Bit my fucking head off the entire time while I helped you stand up.”
“Yes I remember,” I grumbled. I crossed my arms, still not turning around.
“That was the first day I saw you after the accident that you weren’t loaded up on pain killers and you were different. You’ve been different.”
“Gee golly Jared. I wonder why?”
“Past six months...you’re still that guy in the shower yelling at me that he doesn’t need help.”
“Just because I don’t want to date again doesn’t mean I’m fucked up. I’m forty two with three little kids. There’s nothing wrong with not wanting to fall in love again,” I snapped, spinning around. He nodded, smiling to himself. “What.”
“You make it sound like you’re gonna have a choice in whether you fall in love when you meet the right person.”
“I’m not gonna fucking fall in love with some girl I just met. There’s a million reasons why it won’t happen.”
“You’re not gonna have a fucking choice.”
“It’s all my choice,” I grit out. Jared shook his head and I clenched my fists.
“I’ve known you over sixteen years. Better than any other human being. I haven’t seen a real smile on your face in over half a year. Except when I came in here and you were sitting there with the stupidest grin on your face talking about Y/N. It works out, it doesn’t work out. Either way, you’re along for the fucking ride so you might as well enjoy it.”
I swallowed, glancing down.
“Have you ever lied to me in the past six months about how you’re doing? How’re you feeling? Anything?” asked Jared. The therapist lie shot to the front of my mind, logic coming in and screaming shut up, more logic coming in to say it’s Jared, it’s okay. “I’m guessing by the mental gymnastics you look like you’re going through, that’s a yes.”
“Jared-”
“I could have done a lot more to help you. I let you fester on your own and-”
“I don’t need you to take care of me. I’m an adult.” I frowned and walked in front of him, Jared pursing his lips. “Leave.”
“Jensen.”
“Leave.”
“No.” He shook his head, shoving his hands in his pockets. “I get to take care of you because I love you. If you don’t like that well tough shit.”
“Get the fuck out of my house and stay out,” I growled. Jared looked down, shaking his head and walking away. He was out of the room when my skin prickled, the happy flutter feelings gone, a pit opening up instead. “Jared. Jared.”
I went to the door, catching him halfway down the hall.
“Jared.”
“I’m going.” He turned the corner, beanie out of view. Fuck. I ducked back in the room, sitting on the bed, toes curling into the fabric. My head was face down in my knees when the door opened softly. My eyes darted over, Jared walking back inside, pulling his beanie down over my head. “I wasn’t going anywhere. Just had to see if you’d ask for help.”
“I’m not very good at it. Obviously,” I said.
“No. No you are not. But what’s in the past, we can’t change it. Just what’s in front. And for you that is the cute nanny that you may or may not end up falling in love with.”
“Jared I can’t love her.”
“Why not?”
“I love Dee. She was it.”
“I’m not saying to stop loving Dee. Shit she’d never want you to do that. But honestly, does she want you to be like this for the rest of your life? Or does she want you to laugh and smile and find a best friend again?”
“I know she wants me to be happy. I know what she wants. You don’t get it.”
“Then help me get it.”
“Say I fell in love again. Say I managed to find the right person and I fell in love. I gave her everything I have left and I’m happy. Then she gets in an accident one day or she has an aneurysm one day or she gets mugged one day or whatever it is. Say she doesn’t come home one day. I can’t put myself through that again. I just can’t. It would destroy me. I can’t do that again.”
“I won’t tell you what to do, Jay. I’d never say that. But you have a choice to make then from what I’m hearing you say.”
“What?”
“Stay single, be afraid of being hurt again and get by. Or risk being hurt again and maybe you get hurt, maybe you don’t, but you’ll be out there living again. Dude if you never want to date again that is completely your choice. But don’t not date because you’re afraid. It’s like I said before, like you were saying, if you find that girl, the right girl, you won’t have a choice at all.”
“She’s my employee,” I said, shifting my legs, sitting cross legged. “Not to mention I don’t even know if she’s single. You saw her. No way is a beautiful woman like that on her own. Then there’s the age difference and the kids thing and the whole I’m an actor thing and-”
“Didn’t say to propose to her. Just...put out some feelers. Maybe if the topic comes up and she’s single, mention you got a friend that’s like you, see if there’s interest.”
“God I hope she’s single,” I said. He smirked, bumping my shoulder. “Shut up.”
“Tell me about her,” he said.
“I don’t know a whole lot,” I said, rubbing the back of my neck.
“But you like her.” I nodded, getting another bump. “I think you’re gonna marry that girl.”
“What?” I laughed. “We don’t even know if she’s single!”
“Nah, you’re gonna marry her. I got a feeling.”
“Oh I see. A feeling.”
“I’ve known you over sixteen years and haven’t been able to get through that thick head. She’s known you half an hour and she got in without even trying. I wonder where I got that idea from,” he said. I lifted my head, Jared’s face relaxed. A lump formed in my throat and he reached out, putting a hand on my shoulder. “Jensen. I heard it in your voice when you called me just now. Something’s different.”
“I don’t want to be in a relationship,” I said. “I honestly don’t.”
“Maybe she’ll be the one to make you change your mind on that.”
“She’s not even interested in me. I’m a widow with 3 small kids. I’m away from home a lot. I’m the worst person in the world to date.”
“Maybe. But you’re a pretty good person to love and be loved by. Might just be enough, even for a grumpy Ackles.”
“She did make me coffee,” I said quietly, lip twitching up.
“Coffee?”
“I know. But it’s...I don’t know. Something...changed. She was pretty when I opened the door but when she made me coffee, that’s when I noticed that feeling.”
“Maybe she’ll make you coffee again,” he said, smirking as he stood up. “Outside.”
“Hm?”
“Outside with the cute nanny. Let’s go,” he said, dragging me off the bed to my feet. He pulled off the beanie and pushed me out of the room, being a little shit and trying to pick me up. I kicked my feet up and we both went backwards, Jared grinning and giving me that look.
“Oh you’re on little shit,” I said, flipping my leg around, Jared yelping as he got pulled down to the side. I jumped on top of him, Jared rolling me back. A spark of pain shot down my hip, Jared instantly up and off. “I’m alright.”
“You stretching it out still like you’re supposed to?” he asked. I rolled my eyes and he helped me to my feet, waiting as I did a few wide circles with my leg. “Do your at home physical therapy ya idiot.”
“I”m perfectly fine. Just save the wrestling for the rug next time,” I said. “You want to say hey to Y/N?”
“No that’s cool. I’m sure I’ll properly meet her when you’re ready for me too,” he said. “Oh and Arrow and Zeppelin ate way too much candy at my house so have fun with that.”
“I hate you.” He grinned and let out a chuckle. “Hopefully they burn off some running around out there at least.”
“It wasn’t that bad,” he said. “Do you want to grab a drink later? Maybe hit up the brewery?”
“I don’t know,” I said, rubbing my arm for a moment.
“Do you want to be on your own tonight?” I blinked, Jared shrugging. “Might as well be point blank about it. Since you’re never lying to me again, right?”
“Let me call up the neighbors, see if the girl next door can watch the kids tonight. I wouldn’t mind a little fun,” I said.
“Shoot me a text and I’ll swing by around eight,” he said.
“Jared.” He stopped turning to leave and I sighed. “I’m sorry I lied to you. I’m...we rarely fight. Rarely. But this is kinda big and I want to tell you the truth but I’m scared if I do you’ll walk out that door and never look back.”
“We can fight, Jensen. I’m sure we’ll have more someday. We can get pissed as hell at each other. But your ass is stuck with me forever and I’m stuck with yours. I know you and I love you and you’re my big brother. We’re not supposed to agree all the time. We’re gonna hurt each other sometimes. That’s just part of being a family though. I’ll never walk out on you just like I know you won’t do that to me. It’s different right now. I know. I don’t want this to stress you out. You got enough of that going on. Tell me when you’re ready okay?”
“I never saw a therapist. I lied to get everyone off my back when I was still...like this after a few months. I thought I could handle it on my own. I’m sorry for lying, especially to you.” Jared nodded, biting his bottom lip for a moment. “You’re angry.”
“Angry at myself, not you. I know what it’s like to feel alone, that alone. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. I’m sorry you’ve felt that alone Jensen. I didn’t realize you felt that badly and I should have. That’s why I’m upset. Not at you.”
“You’ve grown up more,” I said quietly.
“If we can get back to me being the one freaking out over shit and you being the adult I’d prefer that,” he chuckled. He put his hands on my shoulders and smiled. “I got your back. Always.”
“I don’t want to go to one.”
“You’re a big boy. You can decide on your own. Just...call me when you feel shitty next time?”
“I will. I promise.”
“Or to talk about Y/N,” he teased. I rolled my eyes, Jared giving me a quick hug.
“Dick.”
“But I’m your dick. I’ll see you tonight.”
“See ya.”

━━ 𝙬𝙝𝙮 𝙝𝙚𝙧, 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙢𝙚
Every single day felt like torture, looking at them was impossible.
As much as you tried to focus on your studies, paying attention in class, your eyes would shift over to them.
It didn’t click in your mind, how everything suddenly changed so fast in such a short time for you. One day you were confessing, the next you were together, and everything else turned into a blur.
You were tired of the ache in your chest, the memories of him knowing he was never going to return back to you.
A gentle hand rested on your shoulder as they carefully nudged you. “Y/n?”
Slowly you blinked trying to get your eyes to stay awake, you lifted your head from where it was resting on your arms. “Midoriya?”
“Hey...” He smiled small. “Class is about to start soon... I thought it would be best to wake you up before Mr. Aizawa gets here.”
“Thank you...” You mumbled, rubbing your eyes hoping to get rid of those dark baggy eyes that never seemed to turn back to normal.
“Have you eaten?” He asked sitting down on his assigned seat.
“No, I didn’t have much of an appetite this morning.” Running your fingers through your hair, you tried to fix your appearance to at least look presentable.
Hearing your answer he placed a small box full of food along with a juice cartoon and milk. “I figured and told Iida to help me prepare something for you to eat.”
You wanted to cry, not because of sadness but at how attentive and caring they were being. At the way your classmates tried to cheer you up despite how awkward it was at times. You felt thankful for the support group you had, being away from home.
“You guys are too kind.” You weakly chuckled.
“We were worried we know things aren’t easy, but we didn’t want you to skip out on your meals.” He said.
You were about to speak when the door opened and the rest of your friends, classmates, walked in.
Ojiro and Aoyama smiled in your direction, you smiled back at them. Shoji and Todoroki then made their way over to you both.
“Good morning, Midoriya and Y/n.” Todoroki said. "How are you feeling?"
"Did that headache go away?" Shoji asked.
"I'm doing much better, thanks for the pain killer." You answered.
"It's no problem, I'm glad I was awake still to help you."
"You need to try and eat too, Y/n." Todoroki said.
"I know... I know, I promise to make sure to eat today." You reassured them, "Midoriya brought me some food, I'll eat the granola bar right now."
"Good, I'm glad to hear that-" Midoriya spoke then stopped midway as his gaze focused on the classroom's door.
"Midoriya?" You asked looking at him confused then followed his gaze.
Shoji and Todoroki were both silent.
Your eyes widened, the person you loved had moved quickly onto someone else already. You didn’t know how long you had been staring that your eyes were starting to hurt, you blinked rapidly.
“Uraraka...” Midoriya spoke slowly, “Are you and Kaachan?...”
Your friend looked down, avoiding everyone’s stares. You looked at how tightly they were holding hands, he kept squeezing the grip as a sign of comfort that he was there by her side. It felt like a nightmare, never did you think that your own best friend and ex-boyfriend would end up together.
Was she the reason why he kept distancing himself more? Shaking your head you tried to keep breathing steady enough to speak.
“S-since when?...”
Bakugo looked around seeing all their eyes were on them. Guilt took over him, it wasn’t the ideal situation for both to show up together to class while holding hands. He wanted to tell you but didn’t think it would matter.
He was irritated and it showed. “What the hell are you all looking at?!” Bakugo shouted, “We don’t owe you any explanation... so stop staring and mind your own damn business!”
You breathed out, “Really?... it is my business, you went ahead and got with my own best friend, Ka-Bakugo! You didn’t stop to think how fucked up this was?”
“We’re already done.” He said. “What I decide to do is never going to involve you, learn to accept that.”
Uraraka lowered her head, making a few pieces of her bangs to cover her face. “I-I’m sorry... Y/n. I wanted to... t-to tell you but I knew you would hate me in the end still.”
“You were the one I went to when things turned into shit, Uraraka!” You raised your voice not caring about staying quiet and if those outside of the classroom heard. You were hurt, you were betrayed. “I-I thought we were close-”
“We are!-” She retorted looking at you, her eyes were turning red. “I still care about our friendship, Y/n. I-I value it too much to have it go down the drain just like that-”
Your hands formed into fists, “If you had you wouldn’t have-!” you bit your tongue trying not to say something you’d regret in the end.
“Even if you started to like him Uraraka, what you did was messed up.” Mina spoke.
“I don’t care about what you extras think.” Bakugo stated, “I chose who I wanted to and I don’t give a crap about any of you! I’m telling you now if any of you decide to mess with her, I won’t hesitate to beat the crap out of you.”
Midoriya stepped forward to approach them. “Kaachan, what you did-”
In response, Bakugo's fist connected with his jaw causing him to fall down to the ground.
"What the hell man?!" Kaminari exclaimed.
"You can't just go hitting people, Bakugo!" Kirishima added.
"Deku!-" Uraraka hesitated on going over to him, despite it all, she didn't like seeing her friends getting hurt.
You kneeled down next to him, "Are you okay?..."
He nodded holding himself up on his elbow, wiping off the blood from his bruised lip. "I'm fine... it was just a hit."
"You need to calm down Bakugo." Todoroki spoke.
"Shut it icy hot before I start with you too." Bakugo threatened.
Uraraka stood in front of him, holding the side of his face. "Calm down alright? We knew what was going to happen... I don't want you getting in trouble with Mr. Aizawa. Let's just go sit down...."
You heard every single word, she ever spoke to him. It was frustrating that he was acting different towards her than he ever did with you. It was like a switch was turned on inside of him, suddenly he turned caring and listened what she had to say. It made your blood boil, how he was treating her better than he ever did with you.
Bakugo nodded, he followed her to his desk to get away from the group.
"Y/n..." Midoriya whispered. "It's okay...."
You sniffled, wiping away the tears with the back of your hands. "I'm tired... it was always the same with him. H-he never listened..."
Without realizing your crying became louder. All heads turned to look at you, they all feel for you. It was a shock to them that from night to morning he suddenly decided to be with someone else.
Mina approached you, kneeling next to you. "Y/n do you want to go to the bathroom?"
Midoriya kneeled beside you as well, his arm resting comfortingly on your shoulder. "Let's take you home... you need some time for yourself-"
Shaking your head, you got up with trembling legs. "I-I'm not going... I-I shouldn't have to suffer because of them." You said resulting in Bakugo and Uraraka to look at you.
Taking a deep breath you tried to steady your voice. "I-I gave everything I had to someone who never appreciated it!" You exclaimed, looking straight at him. "I don't shouldn't need to hold myself back any longer, I don't care if everyone hears what I say! All this time you could n-never listen to me! I tried reasoning with you and even go so far as to take your side even when I knew you were in the wrong.” You hiccuped. “I-I did everything to make sure what we had would last... b-but you never cared enough to try to change. And now all of a sudden... y-you’ve changed?...”
Bakugo stood up. “We already talked, Y/n.”
“No we didn’t.” You stepped forward getting closer to him. “You called it quits the moment things started to fall apart. I tried so d-damn hard to be next to you. I stood awake by your parents side when the league of villains kidnapped you! I risked my health because I was worried sick about your well being... I-I didn’t know if you had been tortured or...k-killed.” Your eyes were swollen, along with your cheeks. “Now you decided to listen to someone else who barely knows you? H-How come I got the end of the stick when things turned south, yet she didn’t?!” You cried out, pointing at yourself. “W-what did I ever do for you to treat me like a stranger?!”
His lips parted, he wanted to say something but no words were able to come out.
“What the hell is going on here?” Mr. Aizawa angrily spoke, making everyone freeze. He noticed the bruise that Midoriya had on his face, “Did a fight break out again?” he turned to look at Bakguo. “What did I say about you two fighting?!”
You spoke up, wiping away your tears angrily. “It’s not their fault Mr. Aizawa. I was the one who started the argument...”
Mr. Aizawa didn’t believe you, nonetheless he went along with it noticing you were in such bad shape. “I see... please go to nurse’s room along with Midoriya.”
Silently you walked out of the classroom, with him by your side. You could feel Bakugo’s stare burning into the back of your head. Mr. Aizawa’s words became muffled, you didn’t care enough to listen about what was the schedule for today. All you could replay in your mind was them.
“Y/n.” Midoriya stopped in his tracks, grabbing onto your wrist gently making you stop too.
“What-... we need to get you to recovery girl, Izuku.” You said looking back at him.
“I don’t need to see her.” He said.
“But-”
He shook his head, “You’re the one that needs help right now, what happened back there...” a sigh escaped his lips. “I know it wasn’t easy for you to let it all out.”
Sniffling, you looked off to the side. “I did it because I was tired... I spend all these days crying over someone who never stopped to think about all the things I did for him. In a blink of an eye he’s in a new relationship... it just proved that those eight months didn’t mean anything to him...” You bit your lip trying to stop yourself from crying again. “I-I was easy to replace...”
“No you’re not.” Without thinking Midoriya pulled you into his chest, wrapping his arm tightly around your waist while the other rested on the back of your head. “Kaachan is an idiot for losing such a great person. What he did does not measure how amazing you are. If he decided to go as far as to be with Uraraka then that’s on him. You did all you could for him... he’s blind with his own selfishness that he didn’t see how good he had it.”
Your legs felt weak, if it wasn’t for the tight hold he had on you, your body would have collapsed. “Why d-did he have to be such a jerk...” You mumbled burying your head into his shoulder.
Midoriya chuckled lightly. “His quirk is explosion... I guess all that residue from it got too high up into his head.”
A weak smile formed on your lips. “I don’t think he even has a brain to begin with...”
Gently he kept petting the back of your head. “I’m serious about what I said... what he did was on him... don’t doubt yourself because of his actions. Sooner or later he’ll realize what a big mistake he made for letting you go.”
Pulling away, his hands cradled your face. He was being so kind, understanding of how you felt.
“You’re here comforting me b-but...” You sniffled, “I haven’t even been helping you... I know how much you liked Uraraka, Izuku.”
He sadly smiled. “It was going to happen sooner or later... she never felt the same way about me.”
“She’s missing out on someone great as well... she doesn’t know what she’s letting go just to be with him.” You said smiling small. “I hope you find them, you deserve so much more than her. After all you have done to help her too, it’s such a shame really.”
Izuku’s cheeks turned a light pink. “Thanks...”
You both chuckled together, smiling at one another. It brought peace to you both even if it was for a short time. Being alone in the hallway and away from prying eyes was just what you needed. The quietness helped you calm yourselves down.
All you did was look at each other, there was no awkwardness despite being friends. Being with Izuku felt the opposite of how it was with Bakugo. He was kind, caring, and patient. It was a safe space.
Something inside you both changed, you slowly began to lean into one another’s personal space. Your eyes were focused on each other, neither of you closed them. It felt a magnet was pulling you both in, the opposite forces were starting to connect, making it impossible to pull away. You didn’t know if it was because you both needed comfort or you wanted to forget.
When you were centimeters away from each other’s lips, Izuku spoke. “Are you sure?” He whispered.
“I want to move forward... if you’re not comfortable we don’t need-”
He made sure you didn’t finish your sentence and connected your lips together. You were surprised at his boldness, that you didn’t kiss him back right away. Izuku pulled you in closer to him like he did before. He deepened the kiss but kept it soft, not rushed.
Slowly your eyes closed and you finally let yourself give in. A rush of electricity ran through your body. You never thought about kissing your close friend and yet here you were, enjoying it. Your hands subconsciously rested on his hips, kissing him back with everything you felt.
His lips were so soft, you couldn’t get enough of them. A smile formed on each other’s faces as you continued to kiss, like no time was passing by.
Bakugo’s mind kept going to you, he couldn’t get the image of you crying out of his head. He raised his hand. “Mr. Aizawa, can I go to the bathroom?”
Mr. Aizawa hesitated but gave him permission to go. Bakugo stood up, ignoring everyone’s stare. He walked out, running fingers through his hair feeling conflicted. His heart was already set on someone else, yet he couldn’t help the urge to go check on you.
Biting his lip,”Fuck it...” he turned into the opposite direction and headed to the nurse’s office instead. All he wanted to make sure was that you were okay, not because he still had feelings for you. At least that’s what he told himself on the way.
He was about to turn the corner but stopped when he saw you and Midoriya in the hallway. Bakugo stepped a few feet back in hopes you wouldn't see him.
A feeling ran through his veins, he didn't like the way he was holding you. Midoriya was showing too much of comfort towards you. He couldn't exactly read your lips, nor listen to what you were both talking about.
All he could tell was the way you looked at him with those big eyes, like how you used to see him every time you were both alone. He wanted to interrupt you, but he knew it wasn't in his power to do that.
When he thought the conversation was over he walked towards you both. His mind was already made up, and his body only edged him on, before he thought about anything through.
"Y/n-" He stood still as he saw you both kissing. His arm had reached out to pull him away from you but it stopped in mid air. It was clear that Midoriya had feelings for you, even though he liked Uraraka.
Bakugo wanted to do something, anything to get him away from you but he didn't. He couldn't.
Once you pulled away from each other, you looked behind Izuku to see Bakugo standing there.
Midoriya quickly turned around and pulled you behind him, protecting you away from Bakugo.
"What are you doing here, Kaachan?"
Bakugo however was silent, his eyes only moved from Izuku over to you. Swallowing down hard, you grabbed a hold onto his hand. Making sure, that Bakugo saw that you were done. Izuku squeezed your hand back in comfort.
It felt like an eternity, his stare became intense the longer his eyes laid on you. "Is this why, you decided to leave with him?" Bakugo asked.
"It's none of your business." You replied. "I don't owe you an explanation either... you already did the damage, can't you just let me be? Go focus on your new girlfriend... she needs you not me."
“Y/n, can we talk for a sec-”
“You heard her Bakugo, it’s time you start to distance yourself from her.” Midoriya said.
“No one asked you for your opinion-”
“Stop talking to him like that!” You exclaimed. “Don’t you see the way you’re acting you are only hurting those around you who cared? You’re never going to change... I’ve seen that now. So do me a favor and stop talking to me... I don’t want to deal with someone who never cared about me to begin with.”
“That’s not true.” He said.
“It’s not? The way you acted with her in class explains everything I ever needed to know.” You sucked in your lips then let go, looking away from him. “Just stop trying to talk to me... you’re only hurting me more. If you once cared about me... then leave me alone.”
“Respect... my girlfriend’s decision, Kaachan. We may have been childhood friends but I won’t hold back next time if you keep hurting her.” Midoriya said.
His gaze fell onto your tightly held hands, now he understood what you were feeling when you saw them both do the same. Bakugo couldn’t say anything else, how could he? It was obvious he was the one who broke it off without bothering to understand how you felt. So what right did he had to tell you anything?
Izuku looked down at you, you nodded turning on your heel and heading inside recovery girl’s office not turning your head to look back at him anymore.
Standing alone in the empty hallway, he blinked away the tears that were threatening to form. After a minute or so he turned around and headed to the bathroom.
He went to the sink and splashed his face with water, he looked in the mirror and saw his eyes were turning red.
He wanted to be alone, now he didn’t have the audacity to whine about it. So why was it breaking him apart until now?

summary - ever since you met rosalie, you had felt this pull toward her. but when she stopped speaking to you, it was as though a part of you became obsessed. will she ever be yours or will you stay broken?
warning - lots of angst, swearing, bad thoughts towards self, thoughts of breaking up a relationship, jealousy, some fluff though.

It had been a week since you got caught staring at Rosalie, your mind was going crazy, it would go from how beautiful she was to how to get rid of her boyfriend, wondering how important he is to her to how you’d never be good enough for her. Even though you’d die for her, it felt as though you were in over your head.
After that day, it seemed as though the Cullen/Hales were watching you, waiting for you to try something. You blink, coming out of your thoughts when you hear her laugh, your eyes slowly drift over, skipping past the many golden eyes that watch you and land on her. Aphrodite herself in the arms of Hercules, her smile beams up at him as he holds her, whispering in her ear, probably smelling her unique scent of vanilla and strawberries that only she could pull off. You can feel your heart twist and squeeze before shattering into your stomach, your throat closes up and your mouth becomes dry as you stop breathing.
You feel the familiar green-eyed monster creeping beneath your skin, your very own jealousy. The thing that makes you think you could take Emmett in a fight to get to his girlfriend. A laugh breaks you out of your stare, this time closer. You turn slightly and look up, your mouth opens and closes, brows furrowing as you see who is standing beside you. Next to you is Edward Cullen and for some reason you feel as though he’s laughing at you or something you’ve said. But you hadn’t spoken, had you? Did you let slip of your slight obsession with his adoptive sister? No one could’ve figured it out, everyone stared at the Cullen/Hales, it wasn’t news to them. So how did he know?
You huff, cheeks puffing out as frustration seeps in next to your neverending jealousy. “What are you laughing at, Cullen?” It didn’t take a genius or an empath to know people were staring at the two of you with jealousy (an emotion you knew so well), envy, curiosity and more as none of the Cullen/Hales talked to people outside of their family, let alone laugh with at them, well with the exception of Bella Swan of course. The woman so bland that it seemed to attract the weird. They weren’t your thoughts but things you picked up from around the other students.
“If you stare any harder, she might burst into flames.” You sigh.
“Not my fault your sister looks like a goddess. It’s a good thing you are all adopted because no one would believe she’d be related to you. Your face is even an insult to dog shit.” Edwards brows furrow, head whipping your way so fast that you’d think he’d break his own neck. His mouth opens but before he can give a comeback, a booming laugh fills the hall and your head turns, seeing Emmett on the floor laughing with one hand on his chest and the other slapping his knee so hard you feel he might end up breaking it. The others seem to laugh more quietly, you’d be confused thinking that they somehow heard you from all the way over there if you weren’t so captivated by Rosalie’s smile, her eyes trained on you in a lighter way. Something you hadn’t seen since her first day. Her smile is so beautiful.
“Well, that was rude.” Edward once again breaks your thoughts as he mutters with a frown on his face.
Your eyes flicker between Rosalie and Emmett, a question on your mind. “Are her and Emmett serious?” They had to give it to you, you had the guts even when you didn’t know they could all hear you.
Edward raises a brow. “They are, our parents already love him.” Your eyes roll.
“You’d hope so or they’d be asking for a refund.” You were already looking in their direction so you didn’t miss Emmett’s offended face or the fact the other three were now laughing at him. Could they hear you from all the way over there? You turn with the serious look still on your face. “You think your parents will adopt me? I’d be a great daughter, I cook, I don’t clean though, but I can pretend. I can be quiet, mostly because I’m hoping my mouth will be kept busy.” He chokes, you don’t know what on. Maybe air dick? He chokes again. Definitely air dick. Another choke, couldn’t he at least get a room? You stare annoyed as he interrupts with his noises. “Excuse me, I’m trying to give myself a good review to pass onto your parents, so stop choking on Casper’s dick and be quiet. Now.” You clap your hands together. “When should I start calling them mum and dad?”
Edward focuses on your thoughts, trying to see if you were serious. All he’s met with is Rosalie and wanting to be loved. Through his annoyance, he decides to let you down harshly. “Y/n, I’m sorry but Rosalie is happy with Emmett and she’s never going to end it with him for someone like you. You’d have better luck finding someone in your league at a Dollar Store.”
From across the hall, Jasper could feel your emotions, even though you don’t need to be an empath to know how you felt as Edward said those words. Speaking of the crystal ball, he tries to read your mind again wanting to know if you were finally going to let whatever this is for his sister go. His brows furrow even more than they were before, confused as to why he suddenly hears nothing. It was as though you had shut yourself off completely. Not even allowing your own thoughts into your head.
You blink, nodding to the wake up call. “Okay” They can hear it in your voice, you sounded like someone who was just told they’d never achieve their dream because they weren’t good enough and in this situation Rosalie was your dream and you were never going to be good enough for her. This was only one of the worst things that could’ve happened, not only did you finally realise that your crush knew you liked her but her family had stepped in and basically told you that your feelings don’t even matter, no. The worst was the fact that all of the students stuck around because they wanted to see what a Cullen wanted with you.
They heard everything, they heard about your crush on the woman, they heard that her family didn’t approve and that she’s happy with Emmett, they heard the harsh words poured onto you like a cold bucket of water. They heard EVERY word.
Reality finally sets in as you take in the situation around you. Not wanting to give anyone anything, you straighten your back with your head held high and you turn, walking past the Cullen/Hales without a glance. Deep down Rosalie would always have your heart even though you could never have hers. The confusing part was you don’t know why you felt so strongly about her, it wasn’t like you two spent time together. The only memory you have of talking to her was when they first moved to Forks.
The town was buzzing with gossip about a new family moving here. You had heard snippets of the family, but you weren’t that interested in partaking in gossip. You yawned as your first class was about to begin, your notebook and pen lying in front of you on the table. The door to the classroom opened and gasps were heard, followed by the room erupting in chatter. You kept your head down, just wanting to get this day over with so you could go home and try to sleep your life away.
“It’s a pleasure to have you in Forks, Miss Hale. Please take a seat next to Miss L/n.” You heard your last name, causing your brows to furrow. There were many open seats, why did you have to be chosen to sit with the new kid? “Miss L/n. Please raise your hand so Miss Hale can find her seat.” You don’t bother looking up, your hand raises, hearing a quick thank you from the teacher. It felt like the universe was trying to bring you together.
It was as though everyone had stopped breathing as she walked toward the back of the room, all you could hear were the click of heels before a body slid gracefully into the seat beside you. “Alright, look up front please! I’d like to start this lesson without any disruptions.” The students immediately took their eyes off the woman beside you, turning their attention to their teacher. “Thank you.”
You open your notebook before hearing a slight huff to your left. You ignore it, hoping that whatever was the issue that they wouldn’t need you. You weren’t a people person, you didn’t really have friends because you liked to keep to yourself. Maybe that’s what made you two the perfect match, your mutual dislike for people.
“Excuse me.” You hear a soft elegant voice and you grow confused as to why your heart has started beating so rapidly. You push the odd feeling away as you turn, only to be met with the most gorgeous woman you have ever seen. You hold back from widening your eyes, knowing that she’s probably gotten that everywhere she goes and is possibly sick of the attention– You didn’t know that she thrived on attention, on being the most beautiful woman in the room. Sure she wasn’t particularly that fond of the male gaze as she once was, but she knew she was stronger now and enjoyed every bit of attention she could get. “I’m sorry for bothering you, but I seem to have forgotten my pen and I was wondering if you had a spare one that I could borrow?”
You nod but in your mind you wonder who forgets their pen? Neither of you knew that a certain pixie-sized seer had something to do with it. You reach into your bag and pull out another pen and hand it over. You watched as her perfectly manicured fingers wrapped around it.
“Thank you.” She smiles and you begin to wonder if you were dreaming because no one could look this perfect. Rosalie tucks her hair behind her ear, holding out her hand. “I am Rosalie. Rosalie Hale.”
Before you can stop yourself, you find your hand in hers. The cold not bothering you like it would others, “I’m Y/n. Y/n L/n.” After you introduced yourself, it seemed as though everything fell into place. The empty feeling you used to feel in your chest is now gone and replaced with warmth and a pull. You both spent the majority of the class talking as if you had known each other for your whole life. When the bell rang and she said goodbye, you didn’t know that would be the last conversation you were ever going to have with her.
You walked out of class, heading to your next one when voices stopped you. “Did you meet her?! Did you?! Do you like her?!” A hushed squeal comes out of someone, claps could be heard from their hands and shoes bouncing off of the ground.
“Yes, I met her. Why are you so excited about this, Alice? You know how I feel about humans.” The voice you recognised as Rosalie’s responded.
Alice lets out a huff. “You’re mates, that’s why! Didn’t you feel the pull? You’ve been waiting forever to find yours. Why aren’t you as happy?”
“Mates?! I can’t be mates with that! She is human, innocent! She can’t live this life, she can’t be cursed.” Rosalie responds so harshly, it was as though her words were knives. “You will not meddle at all, do you hear me? I will even go as far as making it seem like Emmett and I are together and in love.” She growls and that’s the end of it, you hear footsteps echo throughout the hall as she walks off. Rosalie didn’t know that the minute she spoke to you, the mate bond activated within you. Spreading throughout your body and making you unable to forget or move on from her. You would say that would be the reason you had become so obsessed.
You pull yourself out of that memory. After that day, she stopped talking to you. She moved seats, became cold. The only thing that made you know that you weren’t going crazy into thinking if you two speaking on her first day was real or not was your pen. It was the only evidence, the only thing keeping your belief alive as you’d watch her twirl it between her fingers or write notes down with her flawless handwriting.
A few weeks later the couple had graduated, which meant you could finally breathe. Even though whenever you heard her name your heart would break a little. It was a relief that you could go to school without having to force yourself not to look at her.
After a few months everything slowly got better, people no longer talked about you and because of that you finally decided to eat in the cafeteria again. Thankfully, everyone was now focused on Bella Swan and how she had run off to Italy to be with Edward. People theorized that they eloped or she was pregnant. But she was only gone for three days so unless it was some weird hybrid baby that theory was crossed off immediately. You should probably send her a fruit basket as a thank you for getting the attention off of you.
You grabbed some food and took a seat in a corner, away from everyone but that didn’t stop you from hearing whispers of a graduation party being thrown at the Cullen house and hosted by Alice Cullen. Apparently everyone was invited but you weren’t going to go. It would be too weird, you’d feel like a stalker and you were sure that Mr and Mrs Cullen would kick you out from what their children could’ve said about you. You were so tuned into your thoughts that you didn't notice a tiny person sitting next to you, followed by her boyfriend.
“Hi!” A pixie-like voice broke you from your thoughts, causing your brows to furrow as you looked between Alice and Jasper. What was with the Cullens breaking you from your thoughts? It was like they couldn’t allow you to think for too long. Maybe she knew something you didn’t.
“Hi?” You reply in question. You weren’t that special to have any of these god-like people talk to you. So why were they? Were they going to pull a Carrie on you and drench you in pig's blood? Were they going to make you think that they liked you before turning around and laughing in your face?
“I wanted to personally invite you to my graduation party and before you say no, please know that none of us think ill of you. I have a feeling we are going to be sisters!” She said it so surely, like she had seen it. You sat there speechless for a few seconds, mouth slightly open at what she said. “Please at least consider!” Alice reaches into her pocket and pulls out a piece of paper. “Here is our address, in case you decide to come.” She places the paper into your hands, closing your fingers around it and giving your hand a soft pat.
You didn’t even see her write it down, she had it stuffed in her pocket like she had prepared for this to happen. As if knowing what you would decide. “Bye!” Before you can utter a word, she and Jasper disappear. You stare at the piece of paper, gulping.
Your graduation came by the end of the week, a sad moment as you stared out into the crowd and no one stood, clapped or cheered for you when you received your diploma. You were truly alone, never seeing the golden eyes watching from outside, cheering you on silently that only her siblings could hear. Your head lowers and you walk off the stage, not even waiting for the ceremony to be finished. You head straight home, still wondering if you should go to this party since you’d probably be alone either way.
The worst kind of loneliness is when you are surrounded by people but you feel alone.
A few hours go by and by now the party has started, you’ve been having an internal battle with yourself. Your eyes drift over to a dress you had bought ages ago with only one woman in mind but you never got the chance to wear it. It just hung there, collecting dust. With a little push to yourself, you get up from your bed, what’s the worst that could happen? You quickly shower and make yourself smell amazing with some of your favourite lotions and perfume.
You slip into the dress, the material hugging your figure perfectly. You wore black tights underneath and a thick jacket with fur elegantly coming out of the holes. You head over to your mirror and apply a small amount of make-up, swiping a bold red lipstick against your plump lips. You straighten and stare at yourself, judging all of your flaws and you sigh. No matter how much you tried, you’d never be pretty enough. With a shake of your head, your soft styled curls brush against your cheeks.
You walk over to your knee high boots and slip them on, once you grab everything you need you leave, locking the door behind you. You get into your car and take off, driving to the Cullen house, trying to push all of your feelings away. You release a breath you didn’t know you were holding as you pull into their driveway, thanking whoever decided to build here for putting the large car space. From inside your car you can hear the music thumping, lights flashing and people hanging around and dancing. You turn your car off and step out, beginning to walk toward the house. Your eyes move around as you check out the place.
“Y/n! You made it!” You barely have time to register who it is as a tiny figure flies towards you and pulls you into a tight hug. Alice pulls back slightly and looks down, checking out your outfit. “Oh my god! This dress is beautiful! You look gorgeous!” She squeals, bouncing on her feet and thankfully not letting slip that she had already seen and knew who else would enjoy it. “Come, come! Some of us are hanging out in a different area of the party.” You look at her kind of shocked. Alice pulls you by your hand, the cold didn’t bother you. “Oh! Sorry, I had a feeling you wouldn’t want to be around the bigger, wilder crowd.”
You nod, appreciating the gesture. “Thank you.” You both arrive in a lounge room that was decorated the same as the other section where the party continues on. The only difference was there were fewer people, meaning you could move and breathe freely.
“Look who finally arrived!” Emmett yells, a large grin on his face.
“Hello, I hope I’m not too late.” Your hands lock together as you smile, but it feels so forced. You were so busy pushing all of your emotions back that you forgot how to act.
“You’re fine! Sit, sit! You’re right on time!” Emmett replies, so friendly that you feel as though you walked into a trap. Was this where they would kill you? “Don’t worry, we don’t bite.” It seemed like you missed the joke when a few of them chuckled.
“Emmett, shut up.” You knew that voice, you pushed harder against the wall holding your feelings inside. It felt like it was going to snap at any minute and you couldn’t have that. You didn’t know that Jasper could feel your struggle, making him look at you like he was in pain but it wasn’t his.
God, She’s gorgeous. No, shut up, Y/n. You can’t be thinking this, remember what Edward said. You don’t want to open that can of worms, you’ll only end up getting hurt. But she’s so beautiful and you were so fucked.
Edward could hear your internal struggle and from what he hears from Jasper, you weren’t just pushing your thoughts away. Maybe he messed up, he knew that he had when Rosalie threw him through a few trees when they got home. Jasper and Emmett had to literally use all of their strength to hold her back with how angry she was and even then there were foot marks from her pushing against them, he was lucky Carlisle got home when he did or he’d be a dead man.
You quickly look away, deciding that the floor looked more interesting. Maybe you shouldn’t have come, this was a bad idea. But before you could turn and run, a voice stopped you. “Y/n. Is it okay if we talk?” You’d think the voice belonged to an angel or a siren if you didn’t know the person attached to it. You lift your head slightly, ensuring she was talking to you even though she had already said your name. But how were you to know that it was you? For all you know, you could’ve begun to walk to her only for someone behind you with the same name to push past. Embarrassing you.
But when your eyes locked with hers, you knew there was no one behind you with the same name and with a small nod. You slowly walk toward her, your heart skipping as she puts her hand out, willing you to grab it and when you do. Oh god, you think your heart exploded. She gently pulls you along and outside, taking you a bit further from the house so no one could interrupt you, she leads you to a small clearing that has a log with a blanket over it and a perfect view of the moon, a few fairy lights hung from some of the trees. Like someone had set it up that way.
You sit when she does, knowing that the feelings and thoughts you were pushing back were no use, you had lost to them the moment your eyes met hers. “I’m sorry.” You weren’t expecting that, she spoke so softly, looking up at the moon like it was hard to look at you, but you didn’t know that if she looked at you, her frozen heart would hurt from the pain she’s caused you. “I put you through so much for no good reason. I made you think and feel horrible things about yourself because I was scared.”
You stay silent, scooting a tiny bit closer. Your heart warms when she grabs your hand gently. Rosalie finally turns to look at you and it was at this moment that she fully accepted the mate bond, she was stupid to think she could just forget you and move on. “I’ve lied about many things, kept secrets from you. But I don’t know if I can anymore. I want to try. But only if you want that as well.”
“I… I know I’d forgive you easily and that scares me too. Because I want to be angry with you, I–I don’t want to… I want to know everything so that I can understand and that hopefully we can start over. But for my sake, I need it to be slow so I don’t hate myself for forgiving you so easily.” You finally let it out, you knew that your heart had already forgiven her but your mind hadn't. Of course you wanted to try, especially if it was with her. You didn’t care about the lies and secrets, you probably should’ve, but somewhere deep inside it was as though something wouldn’t allow that. It was weird because you’ve had people lie to you in the past and you held a grudge over it forever. Yet, you couldn’t with her.
Rosalie had already spoken to her family about this, Alice having already known was ecstatic. She helped her sister prove to the family that this would be a good thing and that they’d no longer feel so broken and dark.
If Rosalie was human, she’d swear she would have a heart attack by how fast her heart would be beating. She’d probably be drenching her clothes with sweat as she prepares herself for this. “I will start from the beginning, I guess.” You nod, squeezing her hand softly to let her know that you were listening. “Emmett and I, we were never together. My family and I are different, so we tend to move around a lot and because of how we look, it sometimes attracts unwanted attention. So, we agreed to act together until we found…” She pauses, trying to find the right word. “Until we found the person meant for us. You may have noticed Alice is special, that she tends to know things before you’ve even thought about it. She saw you, before we moved here. She told me that you were human… I couldn’t handle it. I didn’t want to bring you into this world and I have spent so long keeping a distance from your kind, but I knew the moment I spoke to you that I’d never be able to let you go, not without giving us a chance and you a choice.” She seemed to choke up as she said the last part, as if she were dreading what your choice would be when the time came. She wouldn’t want you to lose you, wouldn’t want to watch you grow old while she stayed young as you died. But she also didn’t want you to become like her, stuck for eternity.
Your mind seemed to work overtime with how fast it was thinking. Human? Alice saw me? Your kind? What world? Choice? You weren’t going to interrupt, but you were confused. You knew they weren’t entirely human, because no human would look like how they did. But you never thought to dig deep, it wasn’t your secret to uncover.
Rosalie huffs, bringing herself out of her thoughts as her eyes focused back on the moon and you couldn’t help but think that she wore moonlight like lingerie. The next words took you out of your thoughts, though. “My family and I are vampires.” You guess this took the cake over the whole Emmett dilemma, it also explained why everyone laughed when he said they don't bite. You sat still though, watching her as she watched the moon.
“Our eyes have meaning of what kind of vampire we are. If they are red, it means that they feed on human blood. But if they are gold, like mine and my family. It means we feed on animal blood. You’d probably call us vegetarians in a sense.” You make an ah sound, not really meaning to but you couldn’t help it. Rosalie shakes her head, not really understanding how you could still be here. “You should be running scared, you should hate me. We are killers, Y/n. We have killed and we could kill you if an accident were to arise like with that human.” She sneers and you put together that the human she’s referring to would be Bella.
You squeeze her hand. “I don’t want to run. It probably sounds idiotic for a human to stay after hearing that the person they like is a vampire. But you don’t scare me, something inside of me tells me that you’d never harm me. For some reason you’ve made me feel safe and whole the moment we locked eyes. You might’ve been killers before, but I don’t think you’ll kill me because if you or your family were going to kill me or anyone else. You would’ve done it by now. Especially since you have me all alone.” You pout, not liking that her smile had left. “Plus, you aren’t really that special in the killing department. I’m sorry to tell you this, but. Magic can kill. Knives can kill. Even small children launched at great speed could kill.”
This was the second time you heard her laugh. Her head falls back as an angelic laugh falls from her lips, her luscious blonde hair resting against her back. You felt warm knowing you brought her smile back, an added bonus that her laugh followed.
You felt hypnotized as you watched her. “You have a nice laugh.”
She looks at you, happiness swirling in her eyes. “A nice laugh?” It felt good to be complimented, especially when it came from you. The air felt lighter, now that everything was out in the open.
“Mmhm.” You lean forward and tuck a stray hair behind her ear. “I like it.” She was still the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen, nothing could compare to the beauty in front of you. You turn away a bit, causing a frown to slowly appear on her face. “I can’t look at you…”
Rosalie hesitates, thinking that maybe this was where it would end. “Why not?” She never hesitates, never sounds so unsure of herself but you do that to her.
You turn back again, a subtle smirk on your lips. “Too pretty.” Rosalie huffs, hitting your arm softly as she laughs with playful anger. Unbelieving of how fast she had fallen.
Your eyes connect again, a spark igniting between you. “Did you think about me?” Her question so light, so quiet, so shy. So unlike her.
You blink, releasing a breath you had been holding. “Sometimes it felt like I thought about you every minute.” She moved closer, her hands slowly moving to rest gently on you. Her eyes flicker over your face, knowing that if she could dream it would be about you. About this. Her hand slowly moves up, cupping your cheek.
“Can I kiss you?” It was so quiet that you barely heard it, but you did. The question kept repeating over and over as you nodded.
“Yes.”
And with your permission, she crashed her soft cold lips against your plump warm ones. One hand resting on your cheek while the other rests on the back of your head, trying to bring you closer. Rosalie had never tasted something so sweet, so perfect. Your lips moved together, her tongue swiped across your bottom lip, gaining access, wanting to feel more of you, taste every bit of you. It felt as though you could finally breathe, that the missing puzzle piece was finally connected. You were her forever as she was yours.
Finally, fucking finally mine. They both thought.

Seven days a week jungkook jealousy drabble maybe?🙃❤️
yah sure
sfw. warning for the use of "queer" as a neutral descriptor for the reader.
it grinds at him like a lamprey's rasping tongue – boring into his flesh, leeching from him the vitality that colours him. slowly bled from him, it leaves him pale, quiet, fragile.
he grips your arm tighter, a small pleasant smile plastered on his face. the event hasn't yet officially begun, and everyone mills about in gaggles ranging from pairs to groups of five or six, cramming as much networking into the evening as possible before they're limited to their table groups. the large indoor venue sparkles with chandeliers and drapery, and the garden outside glitters with curls of fairy lights and light-lined stone paths.
usually, the most tiring thing about these events was all the talking. loud, incessant – it really wasn't his cup of tea, but he figured tagging along with you was a good way to ready himself for the 'real world' without having to suffer alone for three hours. if he made a couple of new connections, then that was a job well done.
he was doing alright, cosied up to your side while you did most of the talking. then came the pretty freshly-graduated face who didn't know what jungkook's arm looped through yours meant.
she'd positioned himself on your other side. jungkook couldn't push her away without looking like a weirdo, but it was growing increasingly difficult not to simmer with annoyance when the girl was sliding her hands all over you, laughing at everything you said and telling anecdotes about your work with her to the others in a high-pitched flirtatious voice.
his jaw works, fingers digging into your bicep. you drop his arm, sliding your palm down his sleeve to squeeze his hand reassuringly. you try resting your other arm behind your back in the middle of a shallow conversation with your co-worker about his kids but all it does is make her more insistent.
"and what about you? how long have you been off the market?"
it's an innocent question, since you'd just been chatting about that same co-worker's wife. jungkook tenses up, watching the young woman's smile grow somewhat strained.
"three years this november," you reply cheerfully, wrapping your arm around jungkook's waist and squeezing his hip. he rests his head against your shoulder, a genuine smile taking the place of its stiff predecessor. "feels like the blink of an eye, really. it'll be ten years before i realise something's changed."
they share a laugh at that, with some co-workers teasing proposals and marriage. briefly, jungkook entertains the idea of honeymooning with you in some picturesque tourist trap, but his mood immediately sours the second the woman next to you opens her mouth.
"oh, people say the best time to get married is just under two years into a relationship! are you stalling for your freedom?" she giggles. "well, there are always plenty of better fish in the sea if you ever come looking!"
it's a weird fucking thing to say, and jungkook's eyes narrow at her as the conversation abruptly turns flat and awkward. a bubble of silence envelops the group as she beams up at you, unaware, blissfully or ignorantly, that even your older colleagues – for many of whom you are the first openly queer person they've met – are staring at her with a profound sense of what the fuck.
"i need to borrow him for a moment," jungkook says suddenly, his voice tighter than usual. "please excuse us."
he all but drags you away, tearing you out of her grip. he veers towards the men's bathroom, and the two of you are not seen until just before the dinner begins. now, however, you sport a wonky tie and a hastily-buttoned jacket.
jungkook meets the young woman's eyes on the other side of the table, holding her stare until she folds and glances away first. when he turns his head to listen to the presenter at the front of the room, his mouth twitches a little, nearly a smirk. a dark red bruise peeks over the stiff white collar of his shirt.

A/N – Sorry for the wait! Here’s chapter 8. And I’m still taking ideas for a title for this story, I’m struggling with that.

Chapter 8
Ughhh… This Bitch
~The next morning~
Madame C was in field work mode, up before the ‘sun’ and doing rounds around the hotel. By the time any of the other residents had begun to exit their rooms, the shadow demon was stood on the balcony of the second floor watching the bugs scurry. Her second cup of coffee in hand, Madame C’s attention was drawn to the hallway to see the snake demon stretching and heading towards the kitchen with five egg demons trailing him.
Sir Pentious was still rubbing the sleep from his eyes when he caught sight of the shadowy figure, making it downstairs and almost to the kitchen before realizing what he’d seen. By the time he looked back up to find it though, Madame C had moved back to blend into the darkness. Sir Pentious shook his head and pushed on to the kitchen. Meanwhile, Madame C began to make her way down to the parlor and sat on a chair with a good view of the rest of the front room.
Alastor was the next resident to come down with Nifty close behind before she darted off to chase a bug. When Alastor took notice of Madame C, his eye twitched and his grip tightened on his mic staff. Green eyes stared Alastor down daring him to say or do anything. The radio demon had just squared his shoulders, ready to push his luck, before loud talking echoed down the hallway heading towards the lobby.
Madame C smirked as the radio demon deflated slightly then looked to see Vaggie and Charlie heading to the stairs. Charlie was talking animatedly about some exercise she wanted the group to try while Vaggie smiled softly. As they reached the top of the stairs and Alastor, the blonde girl waved excitedly.
“Alastor! Do you want to join our exercise today? It’s going to be awesome!” Then Charlie caught sight of the shadowed demon in the parlor. “Oh! And you too, Madame C! I know neither of you are here for redemption, but it’ll be fuuun!”
Alastor chuckled slightly, “ Not today my dear! I’m afraid I have some errands to run and I must be off.” The deer demon gave a bow then made his way downstairs, briefly narrowing his eyes at Madame C before he exited the hotel.
Madame C had watched the damned radio demon like a hawk, temporarily forgetting Charlie had asked her a question. When she was sure Alastor was gone, the shadow went to return to her coffee and jumped slightly as the princess had moved to stand in front of her. Charlie’s hands were clasped under her chin and she was looking at Madame C with big eyes. Green eyes widened, for a second picturing a different body attached to those eyes before blinking the image away. Lucifer would probably never look at her like that, if he ever looked at her again.
“Well? Will you please join us?! It’ll be a great way for you to officially meet everyone!” Charlie’s hopeful eyes shone brightly and Madame C sighed, the last thing she had wanted to do was mingle, but apparently, she held a soft spot for the Morningstar family.
Finishing the last of her coffee, Madame C looked between Charlie and Vaggie, wanting to gauge if both girls wanted her present. “I suppose it would be best if I know everyone I’m to protect. What exactly do you have planned, Princess?”
Charlie leapt forward to hug the shadowed figure, bouncing in excitement. “Thankyouthankyouthankyou!! Let’s get everyone together, and then I’ll explain it. Everyone else has done this once before, but hopefully there’s a little less fighting and blood this time.” The princess had pulled away, laughing nervously remembering how their last trust exercise hadn’t been the greatest. “But I’m sure it’ll go much better this time! Stay here, and Vaggie and I will go get everyone else!”
Charlie grabbed Vaggie’s hand and pulled her towards the kitchen. Madame C breathed out slowly and tried to relax into the couch. She’d hoped to meet the residents individually and gauge them that way; this way would work, but meant she may not be able to see true colors.
A few minutes later, Vaggie was yelling at everyone for slacking as she pushed the group from the kitchen. Madame C raised a brow; the one-eyed girl was strong and the much more forceful of the pair, good to know.
As the group closed in on the shadow demon, Husk recognized her first, stepping out of the group and walking towards the bar. Charlie ran to stop him, “Husk! C’mon, no time for drinks now!”
The winged cat dodged Charlie shaking his head. “Uh-uh, I need a drink if I’ve gotta be around her.” Madame C raised a brow and narrowed her eyes, what did he mean by that?
Charlie voiced Madame C’s thoughts and Husk turned while pouring his drink. “Small, dark, and quiet gives me the creeps. Plus, no interpreter means she’s just gonna be starin' at us the whole time.” Husk visibly shivered, then gulped down his drink, poured another and finally came back to join the group.
While Husk had been grabbing his drink, Sir Pentious and Angel Dust had noticed Madame C as well. Angel greeted her with a quick hey and a wave, vaguely remembering her from a time she had met with Val at the studio.
Sir Pentious, while having never met or seen the woman before, had knowledge of every overlord and gave the shadow demon a salute. “Madame C! It’sss a pleasure to meet you!”
Once everyone was on the sofa and chairs, Charlie clapped her hands together, smiling bright. “Everyone, meet our newest guest slash bodyguard, Madame C! Let’s all introduce ourselves and make her feel welcome. Say your name and your favorite thing about the hotel! I’ll start!” The blonde jumped up to stand in front of the group. “Hello! My name is Charlie and I love seeing all of your wonderful faces everyday” she said, slightly tearing up. “Vaggie?”
Vaggie and Charlie traded places, the one-eyed girl putting a hand on her hip. “Uh, I’m Vaggie. And I uh.. I like seeing you guys actually putting some effort into this. Angel, you’re next.” Vaggie sat next to Charlie and smiled at her girlfriend, grabbing her hand.
“I’m Angel Dust, famous pornstar if you ever need anything, sweetheart,” the spider paused to throw a wink at Madame C. “I really love the free rent here, and uh the people I guess.” Angel added on the last bit after receiving a glare from Vaggie, further confirming to Madame C that she was the firm hand in the relationship.
Suddenly a small form jumped in front of the shadow demon. “HI! I’m Nifty! I like all the bugs that I get to kill.” The girl’s one eye was gleaming, her sharp smile wide with excitement.
The group watched Nifty scurry away when she spotted a bug before turning their attention to the snake demon. “Me? Oh, um.. I’m Sssir Pentious. And I love how kind every one hasss been to me even though I did try to blow the hotel up to get to Alastor.” He looked slightly ashamed during his introduction, but Madame C knew she’d be watching him a little more closely anyway. Can’t be too careful around destructive demons, repentant or not.
Finally Husk raised his half empty glass slightly, “I’m Husk. I like the booze.” Vaggie looked annoyed while Charlie smiled nervously and turned to motion Madame C to introduce herself.
“My name is Madame C, it’s a pleasure to meet you all. I look forward to finding something to love about this hotel.” Her shadowed form bowed slightly before sitting back down and looking around the room. Charlie was beaming, Vaggie had a half smile thankful someone wasn’t just using her girlfriend, Angel Dust had one brow raised and Sir Pentious looked slightly confused.
Husk was in shock, almost dropping his glass. “When the fuck did you start talkin? Last I checked, you were mute!”
Madame C nodded, “Yes, I used to be mute. A recent venture has made it possible for me to speak again, though.”
Husk waited for more of an explanation. When he realized none was coming, he huffed and got up to get another drink. Charlie jumped up and tried to redirect the group’s attention, beginning to tell them about the exercise for today.
A few short hours later, Madame C was standing on the roof of the hotel looking out at the city. If she focused on the slight breeze instead of the sounds of chaos and destruction, it was rather peaceful, allowing her to reflect on what she had learned about each of the hotel’s guests. Husk was much like how she remembered from when he’d been an overlord - rough on the outside, but a softie looking out for those around him on the inside. Angel was obviously insecure and hid it by constantly talking about sex and his job. Sir Pentious was an open book and she honestly felt for the poor thing because of it. Nifty was just crazy and she planned on staying away from the little psycho. Charlie was a bleeding heart, but she’d known that. Vaggie also seemed insecure, but Madame C couldn’t quite put her finger on why. And the one-eyed girls rough-and-tough attitude she put forward screamed military which could be beneficial come extermination day.
Movement heading towards the hotel brought Madame C out of her thoughts and she turned her attention to the ground, ready to attack if need be. The sight of Alastor casually strolling up to the front door made the shadow demon roll her eyes in annoyance, yet she didn’t look away. The radio demon must have sensed eyes on him, he stopped to glance around then looked up and locked eyes with Madame C. His permanent grin widened slightly and his eye twitched as he waved to the shadow demon on top of the hotel before swiftly entering the hotel.
Alastor was the one resident Madame C didn’t need to know better, she’d known him his whole time in hell and she knew he was trouble. If there ever came an opportunity, the green-eyed woman knew she’d permanently shut down his radio show.
The next few weeks went by in much the same manor - wake before everyone else to check the perimeter, meet with the other guests and occasionally join the exercises, eat dinner, and finish the night on top of the hotel as a final check before going to bed. The first few nights had been rough, knowing Lucifer wasn’t there and wouldn’t be made sleep difficult and fitful. Once she’d finally gotten used to the loneliness she’d known her whole life, though, Madame C was able to practically shut down her mind and work on autopilot.
Just over a month since Madame C came to the hotel, Charlie decided to call her dad while almost everyone was out. Madame C sat on the balcony railing, watching the princess with concern. The blonde paced the parlor area, one hand holding her phone to her ear as the other pulled her hair at the roots. “Dad, it’s been almost two months. I really need this meeting with Heaven!... I know you said it might be difficult but-… I know! Ughh… please, just tell me you’re at least in talks to set it up?... okay, thank you. Please let me know as soon as you get somewhere?... Thanks dad. And if you ever want to come by again, you know you’re always welcome! Love you dad.” Charlie collapsed onto the couch near her, dropping her head in her hands. Vaggie sat next to her girlfriend, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder.
Madame C, seeing this as a private moment for the two women, dissolved into the shadows and reappeared in her room. Throwing up her barrier around her room and dropping her shadows, Caelwen sat on her bed and pulled her phone out of her pocket. Nia had been giving her daily updates on the business, including setting up a meeting with Beelzebub for two weeks after the next extermination. But Caelwen wasn’t looking for a new message from her hell hound assistant, hoping instead to see a notification from Lucifer.
They hadn’t talked since that morning she’d left and Caelwen was scared to reach out and push him further away. She had no idea how romance and affection worked, except for the little parental love her mother had been able to show her while running. Her fingers hesitated over Lucifer’s contact. Maybe if she did reach out, he’d be happy and tell her he’d missed her! Or he’d tell her that it really had just been their close proximity and his loneliness that he’d confused for love.
Just as she was about to press the call button, a knock sounded at her door. In the blink of an eye, she was  cloaked in shadows again and ready to grab for a weapon. Approaching the door, Madame C could sense Alastor’s power through her barrier. She opened the door with a snarl, eyes blazing, “What do you need, radio demon?”
Alastor leaned on his staff towards the shadow demon, unnaturally wide smile fixed in place. “Good afternoon, my dear! I’ve just come to tell you Princess Charlie would like everyone’s assistance in cleaning the hotel and preparing dinner. It seems Lucifer will be joining us tonight.” His staticky voice threatened to give Madame C a head ache.
“I’ll be down in a moment, thank you,” she grumbled and slammed the door in Alastor’s face. Shadows dropping again, Caelwen shook off the gross feeling she always got around the radio demon. Running a hand through her hair, she prepared to head downstairs before she fully processed that Alastor had said Lucifer would be joining them tonight. Caelwen immediately ran around her room, changing into better clothes and trying to tame her hair. Unless something terrible happened, she’d do her best to pull Lucifer aside after dinner and talk to him. At the very least, she needed closure.
The table was full of multiple conversations, everyone sticking to their comfort people. Charlie sat at the head of the table with Vaggie on one side and Alastor on her other, the three laughing at something one of them said. Angel was next to Alastor with Husk across from him trading banter and occasionally bringing Sir Pentious into the conversation and making the poor snake uncomfortable. Occasionally, Nifty could be seen scampering around stabbing at bugs, never stopping to take a seat. Madame C sat across from Sir Pentious and next to Lucifer, who occupied the other end of the table. The green-eyed demon and Lucifer were the only two not talking, only chiming in when asked but otherwise content to watch.
They each tried to sneak glances without the other noticing, both wanting to reach out but unsure of how, especially with so many eyes. As everyone finished their food and conversations died down, one by one they began to leave the table and head to their rooms. Charlie, Vaggie, Madame C, and Lucifer were the last ones to leave, gathering their plates and heading to the kitchen as a group.
Charlie stood next to her dad at the sink handing him clean dishes to dry before grabbing dirty ones from Vaggie. “This was super fun! We should do dinners like this all the time!” The blonde’s grin was bright as she scrubbed food from plates.
“It was pretty great, but maybe we try every other week first? Don’t want to overwhelm everyone, babe,” Vaggie said while putting a hand on Charlie’s shoulder.
Lucifer nodded eagerly, hoping that showing enthusiasm to the dinners despite his dislike for certain sinners would help him earn favor with Charlie. “That’s a great idea, Maggie!”
Madame C grabbed a dry plate from Lucifer and put it away, then turned towards the others. “Perhaps next time we could make a challenge out of it? Split the residents in half and see which team can make a better meal. No magic. Winning team will have bragging rights. It would teach communication and teamwork.”
Charlie’s mouth hung open, her mind running wild with this new idea. “That. Is. Brilliant! Ohmygosh, that would be perfect! Vaggie, we need to start planning. We’ll have to decide who’s on which team and the rules. And we’ll need to get all the food they might need. There’s so much to do, let’s go!” The blonde grabbed her girlfriend’s hand, speeding out of the kitchen.
Lucifer and Madame C stared at the door for a moment before the shadowed woman started giggling. Lucifer turned towards her, wondering what she was laughing at. “I would kill for just a pinch of her enthusiasm and energy! The things I could do…” Still chuckling quietly, Madame C returned to putting away the dry dishes.
Lucifer stared at the shadow form with a smile on his face before he remembered this woman had used him and played with his heart. He crossed his arms and leaned back against the sink, a small frown on his face now as he looked at the ground. When Madame C turned around and saw the look on Lucifer’s face, her own smile fell. She needed to fix this, especially if these dinners continued.
Madame C walked to Lucifer and held out her hand, green eyes staring into yellow and red, asking for a chance. Lucifer slowly took the hand in front of him, clutching tightly when Madame C transported them to her room.
He stepped away from her, taking in the new space quickly before looking back to where the shadow demon had stood. Now, Caelwen stood before him in a dark green dress with a tired look on her face. Lucifer watched as the woman walked to the bed against one wall and sat, patting the spot next to her.
When Lucifer didn’t move, Caelwen sighed and crossed her legs and placed her clasped hands in her lap. “I…,” she fumbled for her words, trying to organize her thoughts. “I know you think I used you and I can understand why you feel that way. But, I want you to know that it was never my intention. You were my last hope and, truthfully, I had already resigned myself to the possibility I may never even get to meet you let alone ask for your help.” Caelwen looked down at her lap and closed her eyes. “I also need you to know that I never intended to fall for you or make you think I was playing with your emotions. The time we spent together was the most amazing week of my life. And before then, I had never bothered to think of romance or love. I’m an outsider here and could never be honest about myself to anyone, that’s not exactly the best foundation for a relationship. But with you, I feel like I belong. Like I could make a real life here, outside of work.”
Lucifer’s shoulders drooped hearing the sincerity of Caelwen’s words and made his way to her side to sit next to her. He reached over and grabbed one of her hands to hold it in his own, making the woman look at him.
Caelwen cleared her throat, wondering when she had started to tear up. “I truly do think I’m beginning to love you. I know we haven’t known each other very long, but I feel whole and happier than I ever have when you’re near. This time here has given me a chance to fully explore my feelings and I can honestly say I hate not seeing or talking to you.”
Caelwen’s eyes sparkled with unshed tears as she squeezed Lucifer’s hand and smiled at him. Lucifer smiled back, returning the squeeze. “Our time apart has given me a chance to reflect as well. Lilith and I were together for millennia and she just left one day. I guess I’ve always blamed myself and thought there would be no way another woman could ever truly love me again. Plus, I’m the king of Hell! People usually only ever want to use me in some way.” Lucifer looked down at their clasped hands, then back into Caelwen’s warm green eyes. “I want to believe you truly want me and nothing else. And seeing you now after our time apart, I can’t deny how nice it feels. I think I’d like to try and explore this, but I can’t make any guarantees. I have my own issues and Charlie comes first, but if you’re serious about not using me…”
Lucifer’s eyes searched Caelwen’s for any hint she was lying, but all he saw was acceptance and love. His heart warmed and he smiled softly. Caelwen returned the smile and placed her free hand on his cheek. “I would love to explore this feeling with you, Lucifer. Be prepared, though - I’ve lost so many people over the years, I don’t plan on letting you go anytime soon!”
Fallen angel and Nephilim laughed quietly as they leaned into each other, eyes slipping closed. Unlike their first kiss, this was soft and short, testing the water. Lucifer disconnected their lips and leaned his forehead to Caelwen’s, the two breathing each other in.
When they finally pulled away entirely, Lucifer glanced at his watch, eyes widening at the time. He stood and pulled Caelwen with him, moving to stand in front of her. “I have to leave for the night, unfortunately. I’m glad we cleared the air and that I listened. I’ll be calling soon for our first date,” he winked. “And I do believe I owe you flying lessons! So we’ll need to fit that in, too!” Lucifer grinned broadly at Calewen, feeling truly excited for the first time in a while.
Caelwen smiled back and pulled Lucifer into a hug. “I can’t wait,” she whispered before pulling back. They two kissed once more, and then Lucifer was gone in a flash or red. Caelwen fell back onto her bed, face stretched into a wide grin as she buzzed with excitement. Things were looking up in her life and nothing could bring her down.
A knock sounded at her door. Caelwen sat up and looked at the door curiously, it was late so no one should be at her door. Another knock came and the brunette quickly covered herself and her room in shadows as she went to open the door. Instead of literally any other resident, there stood Alastor with his stupid grin and mic.
Madame C felt any remaining happiness drain from her at the sight of Alastor. “What do you need?” she asked harshly.
Alastor leaned towards the shadow demon, “I was just wanting to check on you, my dear! You were so quiet during dinner, one would think you wouldn’t stop talking now that you can!” His staticky voice grated on Madame C’s nerves.
The shadow demon leveled Alastor with a glare, “I’m fine. Just doing my job to observe and ensure everyone is safe. Thank you for checking. I’m going to bed now, though, so goodnight.” Closing the door before the radio demon could say anything else, Madame C dropped her shadows and ensured her barrier was sealed tight. Leave it to that fucker to ruin what had been a perfect night.

A/N – I have no idea why this was so hard to write. But whatever. Also, this obviously doesn’t take us to extermination day, but I also didn’t want this chapter to be a novel on its own. We’re now about 3 months out from the extermination, and I’m hoping to cover that time in the next chapter. So this story overall will be longer than expected.
A/N 2 – It’ll probably be about a week before the next chapter is out. I’ve gotta flesh out the dates and stuff while not making each one a chapter 🤦‍♀️

A/n: I got death threats for that last chapter so this chapter is hopefully a peace offering 😅

Time has passed and yet, Liv was still processing everything that had occurred as she sat in the hospital bed with a cast on her leg.
All she could hear from outside her room were a few people arguing- all that she could make out were Raquel, Roman, and Damian’s voices. She only curled up, trying to ignore the conversation, though she could still hear a bit of what was going on.
“I was right there- I could’ve stopped her—“
“Roman, for fuck’s sake, she could’ve went anyways. Even if you, me, or Damian tried to stop her, she still would’ve gone to save Liv. This is Rhea that we’re talking about.”
“Look Reigns, Raquel’s right. That’s the way Rhea is. Same deal with me, Finn, and Dom. She’s exactly like that with the people she cares about.”
She had no other choice than to listen on until the voices slowly faded. After a while, she suddenly heard a knock on her door. Blinking, she lifted her head and wondered who it was. While visiting hours weren’t exactly over, she didn’t think anyone would come and see her at this time. Sure, maybe Bianca, Becky, or even Raquel, but she didn’t expect anyone to see her still.
She sat up on the bed before she then heard the door open and upon looking who came in, it was Dom.
“Dom?” She blurted out, a bit surprised that Dom out of all people would come and see her.
“Hey- I didn’t think anyone came to check on you, so I figured I would.”
“Oh…” She only said as Dom closed the door while he took a seat near her.
“So… how are you?”
“I’m… fine, I guess.” She only said as she looked down at her leg. “I’m gonna be out for another week. The damage wasn’t that much on my leg, but they wanted me out for a bit… again.”
“Well, if it makes you any better… I’m not sure if you even want to know, Rhea’s recovering as we speak. But… the doctors don’t know when she’s going to wake up.” Dom told her. This caught her attention as she raised her head at him.
“Wait, what do you mean…?”
“She… she was almost admitted to the ICU. Her breathing was compromised.” He explained to her as Liv listened. “But they managed to save her. It could take a day or even a few until she wakes up though. She took a lot of smoke inhalation and didn’t take a moment to breathe oxygen for an extended period of time, so it might take a while until she wakes up. But she’s okay right now.”
Liv gazed at him as he said this. She then looked down at her lap, guilt invading her senses as she exhaled. “It was all my fault…”
“Liv, come on…”
“It was.” She choked out. “She used to feel weak because I was around. That’s why she left me.”
“Liv… she would’ve done the same for anyone she cares about.” Dom told her. “She would’ve done anything to make sure that you live. She’s like that with everyone she cares about. Me, Damian, Finn… hell, even Raquel. It’s always been like that. She’s always been this way. You know that. You also know her better than anyone.”
At this rate, tears ran down her cheeks as Dom said all of this. She wiped them away as she sniffled. “I loved her so much.”
“I know. Me too.” Dom mumbled, giving her a sympathetic look. “And she loved us.”
The two remained silent for a bit as she wiped her tears away, taking a small breath as she calmed down for a bit while she looked down once again. “Well… at least you still have a chance.” She told him. “I mean, I’m sure you’re a great guy and that she’s definitely into you. I just hope that you care for her as much as I did…”
“Yeah well, about that…” Dom began as he looked down at his hands before he spoke. “You’re telling that to the wrong person.”
At that, Liv paused as she blinked in confusion. “Wait, what?”
“You should tell that to Roman when you see him.” He told her as he shared a look with her.
“Hold on- wait, wait, wait.” Liv immediately paused him as she gave Dom a look. “Roman?”
“Yep.”
“THE Roman Reigns? As in the three-year champ Roman?”
“Yep.”
“… holy shit, so Raquel was right.” Liv leaned back on her pillow in shock. “How long has it been going on…?”
“Well… for a while. Ever since they made the deal between Judgement Day and the Bloodline.” Dom explained while he shifted in his seat. At that, Liv looked at him in shock.
“Oh damn. I’m so sorry- I didn’t know—“
“Oh, no, it’s okay. Rhea and I are cool now.” He quickly told and reassured the blonde. “Well, even after everything that went down, we still ended things on good terms. I mean… as long as she’s happy, I’m happy too. And plus, I’m starting to think that she’s probably in love with him now, even if she denies it.”
“… so she’s in denial about it?”
“Yeah. She is.”
“Well, fuck.” She almost scoffed while rubbing her face. “And him?”
“Well, if you ever get the chance to do so- that is, if you haven’t already-, just look at the way that he looks at her. Trust me, it’ll tell you everything that you need to know about how he feels.”
“So you’re telling me that the Tribal Chief is head over heels for Rhea?”
“Yep. He is.” Dom gave a nod, all the while Liv rubbed her head, completely stunned by the information that she was told.
“… I missed out on a lot, holy shit.”
“Yeah, that’s what happens when you’re in rehab for too long. No offense, by the way.”
“Okay, first of all, you know who to blame for sending me to rehab again,” She scoffed at him while he only raised his hands in defense. “And two, I need to catch up because this is way too much information for me to consume.”
“Well, I might stick around here for a little bit.” He said as he looked at the time on his phone. “And plus, it wouldn’t hurt to interact?”
Liv seemed to ponder over the idea before she considered it. “Eh, sure, hit me. I’m not sleepy yet, so you can stay for as long as you like and chat.”
“Okay then, what do you want to know first?”
Tumblr media
It was already past midnight as Raquel was beginning to feel sleepy. She volunteered to take a ride along with Damian and Finn back to the hotel after visiting Rhea at her room for the last time that night. However, there was a small change of plans when Damian was on a phone call before he hung up and approached her.
“Hey, I’ll see you guys in the morning probably.” He told Finn and Raquel. “We have a small issue.”
“What’s wrong?” Finn asked as they both faced Damian.
“It’s Roman. He doesn’t want to leave. Solo and Jimmy are trying to convince him to go back to the hotel and get some rest, but he doesn’t want to. They want me to talk to him.”
“What? Where is he right now?” Raquel asked.
“Rhea’s room. Apparently he wanted to stay to make sure that she’s alright.”
“Oh you’ve got to be… can I go and talk some sense into him too?” Raquel asked as she huffed while Damian raised a hand up.
“By all means, be my guest.”
“Good. Let’s go. Finn, can you wait for us or are you coming?”
“I’ll come too.” Finn nodded as the three decided to head to where Rhea’s room was at. Standing outside were both Jimmy and Solo as they spoke to each other before they noticed the other three.
“Alright man, look… he’s our cousin and all, but someone needs to talk some sense into him.” Jimmy told them as he sighed. “He thinks that she’s gonna die any second and he looks worried sick.”
“Even Nia’s on her way here to talk him out.” Solo commented. At that, everyone’s expressions changed.
“Nia? Seriously?”
“Yeah, she called and asked me about him.” Solo told them.
“Well, how bad is it? Is he actually refusing to leave?”
“He’s threatening to fight me if we don’t step back.” Jimmy said as he sighed deeply. “That’s how bad it is…”
“Well, here’s what we can do.” Damian said. “I’ll go talk to him. Raquel, when Nia arrives, you talk to her, then you have her come in and see if we can get Roman out. I would rather prefer you talking to Nia first especially after the shit that she almost pulled at Crown Jewel.”
“Don’t worry, I can handle her. I’ve handled her before, I can definitely handle her again.” Raquel reassured the group before she turned to Solo. “How far is she right now?”
“She just texted, she’s parking right now.” He told her as he looked down at his phone while she nodded.
“Okay, I’ll be down to talk to her. Be right back.” She rushed off while Damian turned to Solo, Jimmy, and Finn.
“Just stay here-or if you guys want, just meet us back at the parking lot. I’ll handle this.” He then turned to the door as he went ahead and opened it before he walked in. When he did, that was when he saw Rhea who was still unconscious, yet slowly recovering, laying on the hospital bed with an IV and an oxygen mask on her mouth. Beside her sat Roman, with his hand holding hers as he looked like he was going to sleep any second now.
Damian didn’t say a word as he closed the door behind him slowly. He then stood there, watching as the other male still held Rhea’s hand, his thumb caressing her knuckles.
“I should’ve stopped her.” He said; sensing Damian’s presence inside the room, which really didn’t surprise him. “If only I didn’t ignore her that much…”
“… none of us would’ve been able to stop her, Reigns.” Damian told him as he took a seat. “Not even I would’ve been able to, at least. But she’s fine now. It’s all over. She’s gonna be okay, all she has to do now is recover and wake up.”
“She almost died, Priest.” Roman immediately said to him, his voice only slightly louder before he spoke normally. “She almost died on my watch. If Dom and I didn’t find her and Liv on time, she…”
He couldn’t finish his sentence as he rubbed his face, trying to hold back his urge to cry while letting out a sharp exhale. “I know you told me to keep my distance from her, and I know that she wants some space right now, but…”
“You love her.” Damian quickly said, his voice understanding rather than sharp and serious like certain times. “You do care about her. A lot.” He shifted in his seat so he could turn his body completely to face him. “Look… all I want is the best for her. But of course, I’ll admit, you both need to talk things through at some point. And if I’m being honest here, if I were you, when Rhea gets out of this… don’t wait any longer. Talk to her.”
Roman remained unspoken as he looked down, still holding Rhea’s hand as both him and Damian looked at her unconscious form. The two of them hoped that she would wake up sooner than anticipated. Damian sighed before he walked out of the room to see if Nia had arrived yet.
Roman took the opportunity to finally let the tears fall. Her weakened state hurt him more than any punch he had taken in the ring. He squeezed her hand before he began to speak.
“Why would you put yourself at risk? We could have lost you- I could have lost you. What if I never got to tell you that…I love you? I’ve fallen head over heels for you and the only thing you've done is push me away. I know you’re scared and so was I but life is way too short and today proved that. Please come back to me Rhea, please.” Roman stood up and brushed a hair away from her face before placing a gentle kiss on her forehead.
Meanwhile, outside of the room, Raquel and Nia were seen walking down the hallway and on their way to said room. “I woke up with Solo frantically texting me- you’re telling me Roman is refusing to leave?” The irresistible force asked frantically. “That’s nothing like him, there’s no way—“
“Nia, he even threatened to fight Jimmy.” Raquel immediately told her.
“What?” Nia scoffed. “Please, this has to be a joke.”
“Well, you might as well look for yourself.” The other woman rolled her eyes, urging Nia to follow her until they were both outside the room. When they did, they paused by the glass that separated the hallway and the room as they both looked inside the room and through the open binds. The last thing that Nia would expect to see was her cousin, out of all people, sitting beside an unconscious Rhea who laid in the hospital bed all the while he held her hand and tried his best to hold back anymore tears.
“What… no, this isn’t like him.” Nia mumbled as she stood and watched.
“Nia…”
“Raquel, this isn’t like him.” She told her in a low voice. “The only times he’s ever cried was when we were all kids, when he fought Jey in that Hell of a Cell match, and when…” She tried to count the many times that she had seen her own cousin cry in the back of her mind. Still in disbelief at the sight before her.
“Look. Right now, he’s refusing to leave, okay?” Raquel told her. “Jimmy already tried, Solo already tried, and Damian was trying, but we highly doubt that Roman will be willing to come out anytime soon. He needs to rest, he looks tired, he can worry about Rhea tomorrow.” She turned to face her. “If it was under different circumstances… I would’ve called Jey instead, but you guys know how tense things are with him. So please, I need you to go in there and talk to him. You’re his family.”
Nia sighed deeply as she crossed her arms, both women looking inside the room. “I just… I never thought someone like Rhea would make him like… this.”
“He cares about her. A lot.” Raquel mumbled. At that, Nia wanted to scoff.
“No wonder he decided to tell me to shut up back at Crown Jewel…”
“Well… you had it coming, Nia.” Raquel looked at her. “I mean, exposing them just like that? In front of everyone?”
“Okay, look, we can discuss my poor choice in judgment at a later time. Right now, we need to get Roman back home.” Nia then went as she knocked on the door. The two women then walked in which made Roman look up.
“Roman, come on, you need some rest.”
“No, Nia, for the last time- you guys are not gonna make me leave—“
“Rhea’s going to be fine. She’ll wake up tomorrow. I bet she would want you to get your ass out of this hospital and sleep. You look like absolute crap right now, and believe me, if the fans see you like this, it’s gonna be the end of you. Trust me.” Even if she didn’t know if that was what Rhea would’ve wanted, Nia still said anything just so she could convince her cousin to leave.
“Look, Nia. I don’t give a damn what other people think right now--”
“Either you leave now or I’ll drag your ass out. And trust me, you do not want me causing scene.”
Taking a moment to breathe deeply just so he wouldn’t lose his patience with his own cousin, Roman slowly stood as the three watched, with Nia urging him to leave the room while Raquel watched. Everyone wore surprised looks on their faces with the way that Nia was just able to convince Roman, and before she went to follow her cousin outside, she turned to face them.
“Thanks… for uh, helping.” Raquel was the first to speak, almost sounding hesitant in thanking the person who cost her a title opportunity against Rhea.
“No. Thank you for letting me know.” Nia simply said, her voice genuine for the first time since Raquel has spoken to her. She then walked away, following her cousin out the hospital.
“Well… guess we can go now too, right?” Damian asked as Raquel nodded.
“I told Dr. Hahn to call one of us if they see any sign of Rhea waking up before we come back tomorrow.”
“You think she’s gonna wake up before we even get here?”
“Come on, you know Rhea. If she survived Nia’s attack, she’ll survive this. She’s strong, she’s gonna pull through.” The two then went outside to meet Jimmy, Solo, and Finn and decided to wait until Dom also went out and joined the group. Solo and Jimmy went with Nia and Roman while the others went in the Judgement Day’s rental car as they drove off.

9:00 AM
Her phone wouldn’t stop buzzing and vibrating for the past twenty minutes as Raquel grumbled in her sleep. Stirring, she slowly turned to snatch her phone from the lamp table and opened her eyes, noticing that Rhea’s doctor was the one calling her. At that, she immediately sat up and answered.
“Hello…?”
“Hi, Miss Rodriguez, I hope I didn’t wake you up.” Dr. Hahn said as Raquel shook her head, attempting to wake herself up.
“No, no you didn’t… is everything alright?”
“Well, I have great news for you. Miss Ripley is now awake.”
Raquel immediately rose up at this, not minding that her hair was a mess at the moment. “She is? Is she okay? How is—?”
“She’s looking fine for now, we have our nurses and interns taking her vitals and all. We do advise you and any other visitor to come here, she’s been asking for you as well as a few others.”
“Okay- okay, I-I’ll be on my way.” She quickly hung up before she immediately stood and went to the bathroom to brush her teeth and fix her hair quickly. She didn’t even care much about changing her clothes as she just grabbed a sweater from her suitcase and put it on. She grabbed her keys, phone, and purse before she rushed out from the room in a hurry, deciding to go and wake the others up just to let them know that Rhea was finally awake.
Knowing how concerned a certain someone was, she decided to head to his room first. Rather than knocking or just texting/calling him first, she resorted to banging her fist against the door repeatedly. “Roman! Roman, get up, quick!”
Before she could continue banging on the door, he opened it immediately. He was already getting prepared for the day as he looked at her incredulously. “Raquel what the fuck–“
“There’s no time, stop whatever you’re doing. Rhea woke up just now.”
At this, Roman looked at her for a moment. “… she did?”
“Yes, I just got the call, they’re gonna probably call you guys as well and—“ Before she could finish her sentence he suddenly walked past her immediately. “What– hey! Wait for us, damn it!”
She then grumbled before she proceeded to wake the others, going to Damian’s room next as she banged her fists on the door. “Priest, levántate!”
She heard some shuffling inside followed by Damian’s voice. “Raquel, what… take it easy, man, I just woke up—”
“Levántate, pues! The hospital called just now! Rhea woke up!”
“WHAT?” Suddenly, she heard footsteps followed by the door opening as she saw Damian with a shocked look on his face. “Tell me you’re not joking.”
“Why would I? Also- why the hell are you na—“
“Meet me downstairs!” He closed the door shut on her face as she blinked and took a step back. Shaking her head, she decided to ignore the fact that Damian was covering himself with a blanket before she went to wake the others up.

9:15 AM
“Miss Morgan, please you need to stay put—“ One of the nurses tried to encourage her but Liv shook her head, grabbing the crutches that one of the other nurses provided her.
“I know I need to rest- but I just need to see Rhea— is she really awake?”
“Yes ma’am—“
“Then tell me which room she’s in, please.”
“Room 204—“
“Great, thanks!” Quickly, Liv managed to find her balance while she began to make her way out of her room. On her way out, she saw Raquel, Damian, Finn, Dom, Solo, Roman, and Jimmy walking inside the hospital as they also noticed her.
“Liv, why are you up? You’re supposed to be resting—“ Raquel asked as she approached her.
“Guys, I’m fine, I just need to see Rhea—“
“Well, let’s go, come on.” Damian urged, all of them heading to the elevator to go straight to the second floor, right where Rhea’s room would be located. Liv attempted to catch up to them due to her being in crutches, though Raquel and Dom were the ones helping her until they arrived at the elevator. Upon their arrival to the second floor, they all immediately went out, with almost everyone staring at them as they walked by (mostly at Raquel due to her state and the fact that she had mismatched shoes on, but she didn’t care, she was in a hurry), they tried to find Rhea’s room.
However, when they did, they saw Dr. Hahn speaking to a nurse outside of Rhea’s room, which made them pause in their steps.
“Why do I have a bad feeling…?”
“Jimmy shut up, Rhea’s fine.” Dom quickly told him. “They’re probably talking about her vitals or… something like that.”
Everyone’s gaze turned to him as they all gave him a look. “Dom since when you’re a doctor?”
“I don’t know- I’m just saying—“
“Ah, you’re all here.” They heard Dr. Hahn’s voice as they turned to see her approach them along with the nurse. “And right on time, actually. Miss Ripley has been asking for all of you.”
“Doc, is she alright? How is she?” Roman was the first to ask.
“She’s completely stabilized and her vitals are looking in good shape.” The doctor explained to them. “She’s going to need to be in oxygen still only for a few hours. The heavy amount of smoke inhalation did compromise her airway yesterday and almost affected her lungs, but right now she’s regaining that at a steady pace. I’d say that at around 1:30 PM, she should be good to remove the oxygen mask that she has and she will no longer need to use it.”
“C-can we see her?” Liv asked, almost limping though she supported herself with her crutches. “We know there’s a limit for three to four people in one room during visiting hours here but—“
“—because she’s been asking about all of you, we can make cases like these as an exception and have you all come in and see her.” The doctor reassured them as she smiled. “I’ll speak to my boss and let him know just so he’s aware, but right now you’re all okay to come in.”
“Thank you.” They all shared a look as the doctor allowed them to approach the door. Raquel placed her hand on the doorknob as she first gave the door a gentle knock before she opened it. They all looked inside and right there, in the hospital bed, Rhea sat, holding an oxygen mask to her face as she inhaled and exhaled, now completely conscious and awake. When she looked at them, she removed her oxygen mask momentarily as she looked at them while they gazed back at her.
“Guys—“
“¡Hija de tu putisima madre!” Raquel suddenly said out as she approached her side. Some of them thought that she was going to beat her up as they tried to stop her but instead, she only started to yell at her. “¡¿Acaso crees que eres inmortal, chingona?!”
“Oh boy, here we go…” Damian mumbled as he scratched the back of his head.
“What is she saying…?”
“Jimmy, not now.”
“Raquel, please—“ Rhea sighed as she leaned her head back but Raquel wasn’t having it.
“Nos tenía estresados a todos, Rhea. ¡Todos!” She snapped at her. “Si sabías que podíamos ayudarte a rescatar a Liv, por que no nos dijiste?!”
“Raquel, I had it all under control, I’m fine now! I’m not dead—“
“Pues casi estabas por morir, estúpida.” Raquel said sternly. “Te juro que la próxima vez que trates de matarte y si sobrevives, te voy a dar en la madre y…” She pointed a finger at her but then trailed off, Rhea noticing how her eyes were starting to glisten with tears and how her voice cracked in the end.
“Raq…” Rhea mumbled whilst Raquel tried her best not to break down right then and there. At that, she sighed, placing her oxygen mask to the side of the bed before she extended her arms to her. “Come here, you big baby.”
“Pinche estúpida…” Raquel choked out before she gave her a hug. She then sniffled and sobbed on her shoulder while Rhea embraced her and rubbed her back. “I thought we lost you…”
“I’m fine, Raq. See? I’m here.” Rhea reassured her. From Raquel’s shoulder, she saw Liv approach as well, noticing the blonde’s quivering lip and the tears also threatening to fall. At that, she slightly broke away from Raquel for a bit while she smiled and extended an arm at her.
“I’m sorry—“ Liv could only say, trying her best to sound fine despite her voice also cracking as she went and hugged her as well. “I’m so sorry— you almost died because of me, I was so scared that you were gonna—“
Rhea hushed her, hugging both of them. “I’m okay. I’m fine. It wasn’t your fault, Liv. I had to do what I had to do. I’d rather see you alive than dead.”
“Promise you won’t do something like that again. Ever.”
“Liv—“
“Rhea, you heard her, you better promise or I swear I’ll ask for a rematch for that title—“
“Fine, fine. I promise, mom. Geeze.” Rhea huffed as the three broke away while Liv couldn’t help but laugh at Raquel’s comment as well as Rhea’s response.
“Well it makes sense for you to call her that, Rips, you even had her wear mismatched shoes.” Damian commented as he gestured at Raquel’s shoes, with him and the others trying not to laugh.
“Wait, seriously?” Rhea looked down at Raquel’s shoes before she tried her best not to laugh.
“Ay mira no manches—“ Raquel said out at Damian who couldn’t help but chuckle. “The last thing I was going to think about were my clothes, okay?”
“I’m just saying, you should've thought of it.” Damian told her before he went up to Rhea and also hugged her. “You had us worried, all of us. But for real though… Please don’t do that again, I’m begging you.”
“Yeah, you’re not a Girl on Fire, you know.” Finn said as he patted her shoulder. “You may be a champ and everything, but a Girl on Fire?”
“Haha, very funny, Finn.” Rhea smiled and rolled her eyes. She made a small space in the corner of the bed just so Liv would sit and not have to support herself on the crutches for so long. Seeing this, Liv grunted as she sat down while putting the crutches on her side.
“You doing alright?” Dom asked as she folded his hands inside his pockets while he sat down.
“I’m fine, aside from my voice being a bit scratchy.” She was right. Because of her breathing being compromised, Rhea’s voice now sounded slightly scratchy.
“I’d say just use the oxygen mask more and speak less for now. They might even release you today if they see that you’re progressing.”
“Yeah, that’s what they told me as well.” Rhea nodded before she placed the oxygen mask back to her face so she could breathe momentarily before she turned to Liv, taking the mask off for a few seconds. “Is your leg doing okay though?”
“Yeah, well, for now.” Liv said, looking down at the cast in her leg. “Doctors said I need to take a week off… unfortunately.”
“Well, the important thing is no one died and everyone’s alright.” Finn commented. “I think this needs to call for a celebration—“
“Now hold on Finn,” Damian paused as he looked at him before he shared a look with the others. “I say we do the celebrating after Survivor Series.”
“You guys think you’re gonna win?” Raquel asked as she arched an eyebrow while Liv snickered.
“Aye, come on now, you’re talking to the Bloodline and the Judgement Day!” Jimmy said to her.
“Yeah about that- Pearce just sent an email.” Roman suddenly spoke as he looked down at his phone. “… Survivor Series is being postponed for next week.”
“What? Oh come on!”
“Damn, so much for that… but hey, it’s fine, we didn’t start this week too well and plus,” Damian gestured at Rhea. “Rhea almost died.”
“Yeah, you’re right…” Jimmy mumbled as he rubbed his head. Feeling ashamed for a second. “Sorry, Rips.”
“Oi, don’t be.” Rhea reassured him. “I know how determined you guys were for war games. I would be a bit upset, too.”
“On the other hand though, I think a break is deserved. Hell, they might even consider extending this a little bit further. Rhea almost died, Liv has an injured leg, we can’t exactly go to the same arena here because it’s all burned down, and it’s even under investigation—“
“Under investigation?” Liv asked as she turned to Dom, interrupting him. “I thought it was a mechanical failure?”
“Yeah, why did they need to investigate?” Solo asked as he crossed his arms.
“Hey, that’s what I heard from Nick and Pearce this morning before we left the hotel.” Dominik simply said as he raised his hands. “They want to make sure and double check what exactly went wrong with those pyros in the first place.”
“I mean, things like these still do require an investigation. It’s just a standard process in these types of situations so, it’s reasonable.” Roman commented as he also took a seat.
“So that means they could maybe extend Survivor Series a little longer.”
“Yep… gives us more time to train though, we gotta beat Seth’s team.”
“And more time to reflect.” Roman commented. At that, Rhea’s head suddenly turned to face him. Pausing as she took the oxygen mask off for a moment.
“Reflect about what?”
“…”
The room filled with silence as everyone looked between Rhea and Roman, confusion dressed upon their faces until Raquel realized as she sat up.
“I… think I’m hungry, I’m gonna grab something to eat.” She said, sharing a glance with the others, almost as if telling them ‘we should leave these two alone.’
They understood and caught the message as Liv cleared her throat and took back her crutches as she stood up. “Yeah- I’m gonna rest up for a bit- Dom or Raquel, can one of you guys buy me a bagel? I’m hungry.”
“Yeah, I’ll go.” Dom quickly volunteered as he sat up. “Guys, you wanna come?”
“Yeah man, wait up.” Jimmy said as he and Solo quickly followed them. Finn and Damian were also about to leave before Damian paused and turned to the other two people left in the room.
“You guys want anything? Coffee, breakfast?”
“No, we’re good. Thanks.”
“Alright…” Damian nodded, internally begging that nothing went wrong as he then left, closing the door behind him, Roman and Rhea now being the only ones alone in the room. Roman took a moment to shift in his seat while glancing down, rubbing his hands together momentarily while Rhea took a few moments to breathe through the oxygen mask until one of them eventually broke the silence.
“You almost died.”
“I’m aware, Reigns.” Rhea said, though she didn’t reply to him in a dry manner, but rather in an understanding manner. “But look, I’m fine now. Everything’s fine, you don’t have to worry—“
“You almost died, Rhea.” Roman stated a bit more firmly this time, looking at her sternly. “This is nothing like losing a damn championship or anything like that. You risked yourself out there- you threw yourself in the fire, literally.”
“And like I said, I’m fine now.” Rhea insisted. “I wasn’t planning on getting myself killed. No one was aware that Liv was still stuck inside the building—“
“You could’ve asked for help- hell, you could’ve asked anyone for help, you could’ve asked me for help.”
Rhea could only remain silent at that as she looked down at her lap. She felt the urge to say whatever she had in her mind, but at that moment, everything in her head was slowly beginning to process and finally putting every piece together.
Raquel was right.
Fuck, she hated to admit it.
“Rhea, please–“
“Roman, I… look.” She sighed, almost sounding a bit defeated as she looked down momentarily. “… I know you want to talk about… this. About us, but… I just woke up from almost dying and I need to process everything. I promise though, we will get back to this. I promise… just… not today. Please.” She then looked up at him, almost begging and hoping that he would listen to her.
At that- and with the soft and genuine way that she spoke, Roman sighed deeply as he also looked down before he stood up after a few seconds. He then approached her while she looked up at him, their gazes meeting momentarily before his hand reached to hold hers. She squeezed his hand before he leaned and pressed a kiss on her temple.
“I said I would wait so that is what I'm going to do.” That’s the last thing Roman said before leaving the hospital room.

Now I'm curious on how you planned to off Simon like non Canon maple syrup can we get his death or HC on How everyone deals with fucker dying
(i never actually wrote out his death, but i sat for close to ten minutes debating on going thru with it. also MEDICAL INACCURACIES as well as DEATH)
you had helped sedate simon, ensuring the doctors could check on him and make him comfortable. you sat next to him, watching his peaceful face while waiting for the doctors to return with the news.
god, you’d missed simon. he was your alpha, your mate and now the father of your child. these last few months without him hurt beyond belief. the knock on the door brought you from your thoughts, turning to watch the doctor walk in.
she had a rough look on her face, brows slightly furrowed and she wasn’t making eye contact with you. clearing her throat, she gave you a quick glance before opening the file she had in hand.
‘ma’am, we’ve got the brain scan results back,’ she whispered and your heart sunk. you knew the way she was speaking, you understood why she was talking so softly. you’d done this before, but you could never have assumed it hurt this much.
she gave you a frail smile. ‘i’m so sorry, but his brain is shutting down. he doesn’t have long left,’ she whispered, finally making eye contact with you. you had thought you’d felt nothing when you were told he was possibly dead, but now you truly felt nothing.
a strange sense of numbness spread through your body and your eyes shut. you could feel the tears, hot and wet, dripping down your cheeks. there was nothing left of simon, but a shell of the man he had once been.
your lover was gone, even if his body was still breathing right there. you were alone.
the doctor stood there as you blinked back into it. ‘could you bring his pack, please?’ you whispered hoarsely, feeling the burning of your nose with more tears to come.
how could you love a man who had continuously hurt you, someone who couldn’t even decipher his own emotions? because he was all you had.
you knew nothing you said or did would bring back your mate, but you could feel the pit in your stomach with the realization you’d have to inform them. price and soap, gaz and everyone he’d ever made a connection with.
the knock on the door jostled you from these thoughts and you saw them come in, moving around simons bed. ‘is he gonna be alright?’ price whispered and you shook your head.
‘we were too late,’ you whispered to the group, dropping your head down into your lap and letting the sobs out.
and for weeks you lay in your nest, surrounded by the slowly fading scent of simon. surrounded by all the memories you would never have with him, left alone to raise the pup.
the pack left you alone to grieve. all of you were grieving in your own way. price buried his sorrow with simon, leaving barely enough to get by with his own omega and pups.
gaz found himself training harder and harder. he wanted to be better, faster. make sure he knew exactly what to do in any scenario. he worked himself thin trying to just be better.
soap was hit almost as hard as you, trying to find ways to have corrected what happened. he worked himself to the bone trying to figure out what he could’ve done different to save simon. he spent countless days and nights trying to fix his wrongs but he couldn’t.
he never would’ve been able to do anything different, he hadn’t even been on the mission.
it was raining when his funeral was held. price and the rest of the pack stood around you as you watched your lover, your mate be lowered into the ground. you’d bought a beautiful headstone, it stood tall, with just the same amount of broodiness that simon would carry himself with.
you’d brought flowers of all kind, laying them around his now covered casket as a final goodbye. kissing his headstone, you stood and allowed price and the others to help you home.
for some time after his death, you’d wished for a boy. hoping without hope that he would grow to be similar to his father, but without the same level of emotional constipation his father had.
and it was soap who took to helping you as the months wore on, soap who took you just after your birth to introduce your pup to simon. feeling the love wash over you, even through the pain when you’d realized alpha wasn’t there.
he would never see any of the firsts or lasts.
that grave plot was where your pup introduced you to their own, laying fresh flowers where they had died. and lying just under the newest member of the family, you and simon laid together.
