i really love scott fellows' approach to live action film making, because he's not only willing, but completely excited to to stretch reality and the audience's suspension of disbelief. like he's workered on a lot of cartoons where things like over the top humor and wild slapstick are much more common, and he inserts those things into his life action work too. he didnt care if it looked fake as long as it was fun and i really respect that. it added such a specific charm to his shows that i genuinely don't think all that many directors have managed to bring.

Okay we need to talk about May December
Joe's slow descent into depression and existential crisis and how he seemed to be frozen at 13,how his teenage son seemed to have more emotional maturity than him and how most of his life revolves around Grace's needs
Elizabeth slowly acting more and more like Grace from the mannerisms to the clothes to the voice and accent and even the lisp without making it seem like a caricature at all
The way Elizabeth seems like a voyeur in this story. How she acknowledges how fucked up the story is and the victimhood of Joe and yet still asks the producer to cast a "sexier" actor to play 13 year old Joe
Every time Grace mentions a "romantic" moment between her and Joe and then she deadass brings out a school assignment he did in 7th grade that was chilling I was just frozen looking at Joe's love letter to Grace is written in a gel pen in a child's handwriting
Every time Grace tells a "funny" story from her childhood and it's literally as traumatizing as it gets
Every time Grace interacts with her daughters and you literally see the cycle of trauma perpetuating
Every time Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore share a mirror I get literal goosebumps
When Joe says "this isn't a story it's my life" I immediately thought of My Dark Vanessa, when she tells her therapist "I need it to be a love story" and her therapist asks her "if it isn't a love story then what is it?" and she answers "it's my life"
Grace's gaslighting when Joe tries to bring up their first time
That butterfly leaving it cocoon right after the first time Joe confronts Grace about their first time

Regarding my SBI/DSMP Fics
TW: Abuse, Trauma, and Mentions of Suicide.
With all that has happened, I did want to come out here and make my stance clear. I will always stand with Shelby (Shubble) and all of the victims who are speaking out against Will Gold (Wilbur Soot). If you still support that bastard, unfollow me and leave my blog and whatever small community I made.
I've already stated this is my Discord channel, but I want to put it here too.
For me, c!Wilbur is so far removed from cc!Wilbur that I don't connect the two. The characters are vessels for my own characterizations and stories. It's a bit like writing Supernatural*, Twilight, or Hazbin Hotel fanfics. I don't support the guy, monetarily or otherwise, he does not interact with fanfics, I have plans to be very vocal that I'm on Shelby's side no matter what/make it clear that what Will did is wrong, and I don't use his real life events as plots in my stories. At least, I certainly don't try to. It's why I typically change traits about the characters. (I.e. Tommy is shorter, Phil is taller, Techno is bulky, and Wilbur always has golden/hazel eyes.)
I'm aware that it's a tad different because it's rp and not something like a full on book or an actor in a movie, but DSMP has also been over for over two years and the characterizations I make for SBI are not at all based on the CCs. Real life Techno isn't a literal terrorist, Phil ain't a father married to a goddess, Tommy is not a traumatized child soldier, and Wilbur isn't suicidal and blowing up countries.
I think I'll likely focus more on Techno, Tommy, and Phil for a while, but I'm not gonna let one dude ruin a fandom and things I've made for myself. Nothing I write is ever made for Wilbur, as I've seen people saying. Additionally, Wilbur was not the only writer. Technoblade, Philza, TommyInnit, and so many others made that story what it was. Not him.
However, if any CCs come forward saying they don't want their old characters interacting with his, I will respect that.
Though I do think there is a tendency to take real life events (i.e. Techno's cancer, LJ's music, Tommy's real life parents, etc.) and put them into fiction about DSMP. I, however, don't try to do that and have stated before that I don't feel comfortable doing so. The truth is that we have not gotten any genuine SBI content outside of DSMP for years. The dynamic in real life is very different from what was presented in the DSMP. Did personalities still bleed over? Yes, I'm not going to deny that, but I'm not going to act like they're exactly the same between character and person either. We've had that conversation like in 2021, it's why we have C! and CC!.
The rather sad truth is, SBI is what got me really into writing and it's a comfort for me that nothing can compare to. Obviously, I don't think it's appropriate to be writing certain types of stories right now or to be involving characters made by CCs outside of the DSMP. I think it's up to everyone else to decide on what they want to do, however, rushing it also isn't the way to go either. Give yourself time to heal and think it over first instead of throwing away something that gives you comfort and has not been associated with by the creators for over two years.
Anyways, fuck Will Gold. Fuck the fact that he hurt so many people, and fuck that he lied and manipulated his way around the damn internet. ESPECIALLY fuck the fact that he tried to diminish what he did and not take proper accountability.
Go and support Shelby so so much, she and everyone who spoke out really deserve it. I'm glad silence on these types of issues is not being normalized.

*Changed it from Harry Potter to Supernatural because Harry Potter is a significantly worse and more problematic franchise, even just within the content of the books. It'd be better left in the dust. I've talked about it before, but it was the first thing that came to my mind at the time and was a poor comparison on my part, I'm truly sorry for that.

Chris and I- bringing our Baby home for the first time
Tumblr media
18+ just in case ALL FLUFF (slight mention of parent death) bringing baby home from being born choose ur own Chris (its an AU) COMMENTS & REBLOGS APPRECIATED no permission to repost republish or tralnslate.
"Chris why are you driving so slow?" I'm with our baby in the back while he's driving the Audi, (always my favorite car)
"Because"
"Yea but hon it's our private road my baby's gunna turn three before we get to the house."
"Um excuse me its our Baby"
"Sure let's just so with that." I playfully roll my eyes and see Chris pout in the rear view mirror.
"That's not funny you know how long I've wanted a family for."
"I do and I'm sorry." I pause for a few second. "Actually I'm not because you're taking forever and I am in desperate need of a bath and she is going to need to be changed soon and you should get rest. Because I am not letting her cry herself to sleep. A d-"
"You think I'd do that? Hell no."
"Good because I'm not going to be the only one getting up so if you can increase to may at least 10 miles an hour. I'd appreciate it."
"Fine. "
"Dare I even ask for 30?" I flirty teases.
"Don't push it." His lip curls a bit.
My phone dings
"Oooo"
What?
"Scott left us cheesecake in the fridge and your mother will be bringing us dinner! God I love your family."
My tears well up
"I know. I'm sorry hon. I'm sure your mother would've loved to be here but I know she's watching over us. "
"I know I just....."
"Hey it's ok you've got my family and they love you more than me so"
I laugh
"It's gunna be weird without dodger there but I can't wait until he gets to meet his baby sister." I changed the topic in a dime-I know. And I know Chris knows I did that on purpose- it's too painful to talk about right now; especially with emotions all over the place.
"I'm glad everyone understood we wanted some alone time."
"Well it was that or we leave them on a porch to freeze."
"Oh my sweet little one you have no idea how much you're loved." I caress her cheek.
"Oh she knows did you see how much she loved people. Who visited her she drank it up."
"Oh I saw. I'm glad she has a big family who loves her. She's so beautiful."
"Just like her mama."
"Chris."
"What? Its true. She is practically your mini me. Franky I'm thrilled I was terrified."
"Yea gorgeous sexy actor who'd want to look like-"
"You do remember those scene where I had to dress up like a woman."
"Good point I'm still traumatized."
"We all were" he laughs
"Chris did we move at all?"
"Yes I'm getting there. Relax."
"Well she gunna be hungrey I know and you know I know when she is gunna get hungrey."
"And exactly how is that."
"Mommys intuition."
"I want daddy's intuition" he pouted
Oh thats easy see carry the child for 9 months and push them out through-"
"Ok ok I was there I don't need to relive it."
"You asked. We almost there I wanna cuddle. Honey we have plen-"
"Who said you I wanna cuddle with my baby girl."
"Me too."
"Well you know how we solve that?"
"No."
"We all cuddle together. Wait you seriously didn't think of that?"
"Hon I am just focused on the road."
"Chris you realized if you go to 30 miles we would've been there 5 minutes ago. Especially since Mama here is getting Hangrey" I cross my arms.
"Ok good point."
Within 2 minutes were back at home.
Chris and I unlock the carrier I go to get out he tells me to wait. He get the car seat/carrier he puts her down on the porch and we can see her from where we are.
"You left our child alone? I look at him with" widened eyes.
He pauses in mid movement not sure what to do or say
"I'm just kidding we can see her from here but hon I can walk by myself."
"I just want to help."
"Nothing I say will change things will it?"
"Nope."
"Worth a try. Anyway. Alright go. She needs to eat I want to sleep and you are on diper duty."
"Got it."
That was easier than I thought," I thought.
"Mother knows best." He replies
"How the hell do you know what I was thinking."
"Because we are that in sync."
"I had that inadvertent smirk on my face going didnt I?"
"Yes."
Before we bring her in he opens the door and goes inside for a moment. Then he comes back out.
He won't let me bend down to pick up the carrier so he picks her up but he are holding both sides of the carrier as we walk in together. Thankfully he has huge doors.
"Home sweet home baby girl."
We get the tiniest tiniest yawn.
"That was the cutest thing ever awww."
"I got it all on film baby."
"What?"
I put my camera to record this. So I can send it to everyone.
Can you not send it to everyone on your acting friends list, that didn't go over well like anytime but just to our close close friends and family I don't trust everyone and its my baby and I-"
"I know I know calm down mama bear. I already have a baby list and got NDAs."
Ok so he's even more paranoid than me.
There was a moment of silence.
"Chris."
"Yea
"What do we do first with her?"
he pauses
"I dont know."
"She's sleeping I dont want to take her out of her carrier."
"Me either dont wake a sleeping baby. We leave her on the floor and get changed?"
"I guess"
Were besides ourselves but we change and we sit on the floor and just stare at her.
"She's still asleep how is this possible"
"I don't know."
"We must have the most perfect baby ever- look at her sweet little breaths."
We stare at her, intensly for a while longer ok, for a lot while longer. He keeps trying to take his phone out. I put my hands over his. I mean after the 200th photo we can give it a rest and just take it in.
Chris mom, who has a key, had came and knocked with her finger to get our attention
"Why is she still in her carrier?"
"She's still sleeping."
"I dont want to wake her. I know she's gunna be hungrey and you know when she wakes up but I can't I can't help it. She's so."
We don't want to miss anything.
Ok you two how about you get some sleep and let grandma take care of her
Me and Chris both pout
Now go. You two sleep while you can.
Chris helps me up why I don't know. But he does and we crawl into bed and cuddle up and I fall asleep in his arms the next thing I know his mother is gently waking me, telling me she's hungrey.
Our sweet angel is brought in to me and Chris wakes up a second before she's brought into me.. she grabs onto my finger as she feeds.
“I love you” he kissed my temple
“I know.”
He kisses her head and she gives him the dirtiest look.
I let out a huge laugh.
"You're just like mama" he boops her nose which does nothing to dispell her dirty look.
"Mommy doesn't like to be disturbed when she's eating either."
"Ignore daddy" her eyes turn back to me, turning soft, "hes crazy."
"She likes you better."
"Baby im sure its just cause she loves food and I'm her only source. And she doesn't like me better its just baby moods." I don't know if that’s a thing but its worth a shot to comfort Chris.
"I know she loves you too. She made grabbed hands towards you before she fell asleep."
"Really."
"Yea. Right my little angel you love daddy too."
We turn on the TV low and Chris put on C-span.
"One way to get her to sleep. But maybe save c-span for night time. Put on a movie."
"Which one?”
“I don't know."
We finally settle on Disney's Snow White and not soon after she finishes eating and fals right back asleep. I hold her as Chris puts one arm around me and one arm around the baby.
His mother comes in without us realizing and apprently took a few pictures before she told us to say cheese.
"I'm tired"
"Sleep my love."
"We should put her down in her crib first I wanna do it together its the first time." I pout. So I'm exhausted I'm barely able to make it to her nursery but I'm determined for us to do this as a family. We gently placed her in the crib And Chris is apprently a master at hiding camera because he got the whole thing on film. We placed her in her crib and
and back before I'm out like a light. Chris later told me he held me while watching the baby monitor like a hawk until he fell asleep. I mean she's safe and were home and safe. Theres nothing I need more than what I have right now, snuggling into my husband the perfect first time home.
Ok sure she woke up up for feedings (which Chris got up to get her, and diaper changes and swaddling but she's a baby they do that but she's still a perfect baby... our baby... mine and Chris' perfect baby

The live action ATLA is amazing. 9.5/10. I didn't love everything about it, but there are so so so so many good parts and I'm so glad that Netflix decided to make this. I've seen a lot of weird criticism from long time fans and maybe I just haven't been in the fandom long enough, but. I absolutely think it's worth giving a watch if you go in with a semi blank slate. The Netlfix series is not trying to be an exact scene by scene remake of the show.
The thing about it that you have to remember when you go in is that they said they were going to change the tone of the show, and they did, and it works! It's not the same. It's not a comedy. It's funny, but it's not a comedy. Character motivations were changed to fit the darker theme. It's using Avatar as source material and intends to be an adaption, not a reconstruction of the series.
Katara is much more traumatized about her mom's death, which made sense! She was murdered in front of her. She's afraid to take on a maternal role because of that. She's quieter and softer because she's afraid and she's healing from her mother's murder. Katara in the series made sense, too, but I feel like someone looked at her and went! Wait. Smol child is maybe...not okay??? I have faith they will build her up as the seasons progress if they continue.
Hakoda is disappointed in Sokka barely passing his trial. Makes sense! They're at war! Sokka has to take care of the village, of course Hakoda has high expectations for him. And the thing is--Hakoda still trusted Sokka with the responsibility of the village anyway, so his disappointment in Sokka's trial didn't stop his faith in his son. And honestly, I think it's fine that Hakoda is not a perfect parent who never makes mistakes. Parents rant about their kids to their friends all the time. It's healthy because they're not doing it in front of, or to, their kid. Hakoda didn't know Sokka was listening. So. Idk. Sokka doesn't go through his misogyny is bad actually arc, and while I missed it, I thought he functioned really well in this story without it. And for the record!!!! Sokka STILL makes stupid jokes the entire season. He didn't lose his sense of humor.
Aang feeling so much guilt about leaving? Yep! I can vibe with that. I missed his innocence and playfulness, but I feel like this wasn't a bad take on the character either. He was still playful, but in the world they live in, it would make sense that he feels terrible for leaving. And everyone they encounter takes it upon them to rub it in his face so why wouldn't he feel bad or out of place?? Especially after Bumi. Everyone says he needs to face this alone, and Aang learning that he doesn't have to?? Powerful!! Is it the same arc as s1 of the show? No! It's not supposed to be!
Zuko's actor was perfectly cast. That boy IS Zuko. The scence at the end of e6 made me cry because it was so powerful with the 41st, and that felt so EARNED after episodes of watching Zuko's crew despise him to suddenly realizing the only reason they're alive is because of him and realizing it's an honor to shelter him. Zuko drawing Aang to pin him on his disaster wall was amazing. Him getting hit by some random woman for attacking Aang? Amazing. Him sitting next to Iroh during Lu Ten's funeral? So soft. The Agni Kai really rubbed people the wrong way, but I think it was interesting that they decided to have Zuko showing compassion be the root of Ozai's anger. He showed compassion to the 41st, he shows compassion to his father, and when Ozai has defeated him, he has him on the ground and could walk away, and he chooses to burn his face. It's not exactly the same as the show, but again, it's not intending to be.
Azula being here was interesting. I don't know if I loved Zhao being incapable of doing anything without her, but it works for what it is. Zhao is intended to be annoying and he was! So. 10/10. She cried when Zuko got his scar! Ozai playing the long hand of terrible abusive tactics made me want to bite him. Because Ozai doesn't care about Zuko. He uh. Made that pretty clear when he banished him and then at the end when he's explicitly told Zuko might have died at Agna Qel'a and he's like ????????? Am I supposed to care??? We've gotten rid of weakness. So??? Like he used Zuko to force Azula to become more ruthless. He used Zuko to shape her. I do hope we get more exploration of Ty Lee and Mai so they aren't Faceless Blorb Friends, but I just don't think there was really time in s1.
The parts they chose to remove and add into the story was interesting. You got to explore the story for the first time again. I definitely think both versions have merit and are deeply enjoyable, I just don't think you should go in expecting it to be exactly the same thing? I was happy to see a new take on the story, but that might be because I knew that it was going to be darker and the characters would adapt to that. I do hope we can get more of the vibe of the show's humor in season 2 if we get season 2, and Katara feels little more like her show-counter part because I missed her, but honestly, I do recommend to a friend.
Or at the very least, if you absolutely refuse to watch it, PLEASE go watch the last 1/2 of episode 6 with Zuko and the 41st because I CANNOT.
+THEY ACTUALLY PRONOUCED EVERYONE'S NAMES CORRECTLY #bareMinimumAward

Can you please tell me what this new character you really like is about ? He's your next fictional crush...
Also...Do you have any Lestrange daughter headcanons where she befriends the trio. I think this idea is very Mary Sue, but...I think if one adjusts that let's say her conception is : "Rodolphus Lestrange willingly drank love potion per orders of Voldemort" What are your ideas to make it work ?
Ofc!
Okay, first, I apologize for the "no" response? I was just in the middle of an argument and it kinda happened. Tbh I didn't think it's weird/uncomfortable at all and you can ask me abt all subjects basically.
I don't think it's Mary Sue-ish at all to make the Lestranges have a kid. A lot of characters in hp who shouldn't/wouldn't have children do have them since JKR is a mother and it's a big part of her life and her books, so it wouldn't be a stretch to see Bellatrix give birth as well. I personally think they could have a child without love potions as loveless marriages often do, maybe Bella was infertile and didn't pursue treatment or just got an abortion in canon. If she had a daughter she'd be likely to just give her over to some nanny and barely care for her. I saw your post about Rudolph... why is it that at any time I think a man is even a little hot he gets accused of the most heinous shit ever. He might fancy the dead tho, I mean the purebloods are perverse enough for that and they prob think it's more fine than doing it with a muggle. It made me laugh.
The girl meeting the trio would be interesting, because Harry and Hermione wouldn't even know much about her parents until they're 15 and wouldn't judge her by her roots anyway, but my GOD Ron would fucking spit on her. I think it would be cool if she was in ravenclaw since it would highlight how much she isolates herself. She might go to some adoption system or maybe to the Tonks family?... so she'd be pretty normal. I think dumbledore would persuade someone into adopting her lol. She'd have an interesting relationship with Neville I think. About her personality, she'd be very hotheaded but analytical (a choleric and thinker temperament?), also very strong willed which can make her stubborn. She could be curious and feel a pull towards dark shit and have a whole luke skywalker arc of being afraid of being like her family. Which can be a realistic concern since mental illnesses are often genetic, so she would struggle with that. She would try to be a good person but wouldn't be a great friend and would self isolate a lot, very introverted. A bit machiavellian lmao. Definitely wouldn't share any secrets about herself. Hard time relaying on someone if anyone but the Tonks were the ones to raise her, so some trust issues. But she tries her best.
About that guy... he is James March from American horror story hotel and he's basically a ghost. He was a serial killer in the 20s, built a whole hotel to kill people in and torture them in their last moments n then easily dispose of all evidence. Isn't he just so dreamy? Also a design and engineering genius, a hunter, a gentleman (it's a facade he's a psychopath), has a sexy accent and drinks absinthe. His every MOVEMENT is hot and I'd literally get on my knees for him. Though he might have necro tendencies... that's why I giggled at the Rodolphus post. But James definitely prefers normal sex lmao he had a sex scene with Lady Gaga. He had a traumatic childhood (said his father was awful, has scars on his back...). It's a speculation, but since most of the more evil serial killers were victims of sexual abuse... yikes. But he's fictional so I can like him despite all of that. Or maybe for it? I often fall for fictional killers and/or torturers lol. He's also just charming, like so so charming it's unreal... I also really admire the actor's (Evan Peters) dedication to the character as he did most of the work in characterization.

one thing about hbo is that when they get a journalist coming up to them and going “man do i have a fucked up story i want to follow” they really do let that person go wild. i’ve mentioned the way the ronan farrow one really moved me emotionally and that’s just because ronan knows how to investigate and tell a story to get you righteously angry for who it is he’s defending. he’s good at his job!
but this one, quiet on the set, has genuinely made my jaw drop a few times, even if i think some of the framing could have been better in the last episode. of course i know about all the rumors about dan schneider and the abuse on set, it’s hard to have been into the teen nick scene and not notice, and it’s pretty easy to figure out which kids were being harmed through too much attention and which were being harmed through not enough attention, and there’s been all sorts of rumors floating around for over a decade!
but the build up to the drake bell reveal was well handled, i thought. i was initially skeptical because i think it’s hard to make a documentary about child sexual abuse without leaning into being exploitative in some way. and at first, where you have the actors who left early, like katrina, or who you remember but weren’t mega famous like giovannie, and they’re all saying “this set was so weird & inappropriate, i knew something was wrong but i didn’t have the experience or vocabulary to say what” it feels a little too schlocky. like, oh we’re just kind of speculating on the inappropriate nature of dan’s “friendship” with amanda bynes for two episodes? yeah it is fucked up that two pedophiles were on that set, but did they hurt anyone on set?
and then drake bell walks into the room dressed like timmy turner and says it was me. he hurt me.
i can’t stop thinking about the choice of clothes here and the way it helps drive home the point of the doc. he’s sitting there in fairly odd parents colors as an adult and can’t describe the sexual trauma he experienced as a child still, has never spoken about it, had his mom lie to his father over it because he was so screwed up. really driving home the point that he was just a kid who had a knack for physical comedy and it got him preyed on by dan, a man who should have protected him, set up and handed over to a monster who traumatized him for months and years.
but when that reporter said she got a judge to let them unseal the court documents because drake bell told her how much support peck had? my jaw dropped, like yeah this is reporting, this is someone who saw this story and finally fucking cared not about the salacious details but about who knew what and why they did nothing to stop this from happening. it’s not about forcing drake bell or katrina jackson or alexa to live through the worst moments of their life - it’s about how so many people knew what was going on and didn’t do a god damn thing to stop it. it’s about how these monsters, these convicted pedophiles, were given access to little kids to hurt and traumatize and everyone knew and didn’t just look the other way, they actively helped cover it up. THATS the story. Not that it was an isolated tragedy but that it was a clinical, purposeful environment built by people who wanted to harm little kids.

My Current Thoughts on SAMS
Because I can’t help but look too deep into things often unnecessarily, and I’m a rambler of nature, here’s some of my thoughts on The Sun & Moon Show so far, just to get stuff off my chest
SPOILERS, assumptions and ideas ahead!
Warning, WALL OF TEXT and running on tangents. Did try to organize my thoughts somewhat..
So, we all upset about Lunar, yes? Well, besides those celebrating, you know who you are, I don’t care.
The Death Of Lunar So, Eclipse used Lunar as hostage on Monty, we saw that coming once Eclipse made the connection himself realizing that yeah, Monty doesn’t give a flying crap about anyone, not even himself. EXCEPT for Lunar, home he travelled through Hell for, gave them their own body, offered a place to stay when scared, offered support and genuine advice through the time knowing each other. Monty has a backup plan for everyone, even to kill Moon if needed, but would clear do ANYTHING for Lunar at this point.
To be honest, I liked that plot point. Lunar in danger to really show how far characters will go, Eclipse and Monty both, with highest stakes possible.
Then they took it a step further and had Eclipse right out kill Lunar. And yeah, Eclipse made it clear times before how much resentment he holds for Lunar, which goes beyond just the betrayal but I’ll get more into that in a minute.
What hit hardest here is the exact way the show writers and actors decided to take this.
One of the most popular characters on the show, even with controversy around their existence a bit ago, taken out of the equation is one thing. They killed off characters before, (Eclipse, Blood Moon) and we seen them return. Another thing is... Lunar was taken out crying and begging for his life.
Even though he insisted on his stance that Eclipse shouldn’t get the Newton Star, no matter the sacrifices necessary to keep him from it.. Lunar also made it clear, they don’t wanna die. They are still a young AI which lots to learn, making a new life to revolving around Eclipse. Lunar wanted to keep growing, family bonding, making friends.. That was all taken away by Eclipse lying and breaking his promise to Monty.
Lunar, still more or less a child compared to the other animatronics, was taken out crying and begging. Afraid, scared for their very existence, facing their very worst nightmare and then... gone. Just like that.
For those adoring Lunar, the fans relating to him, those who just hyperfixated on Lunar as their blorbo.. that’s ONE HECK of a way to kill of a robot child.
Am I saying this is bad? Not really. Just... VERY impactful. As effective as that is for story writing... it feels awfully misplaced. This show is.. a silly video game channel.
Twists and Turns Of Story Telling I never minded the growing drama, I frigging loved it the more dramatic it got, calling it my “daily soaps”, my soap opera I cannot miss a single episode of! But I also get it when people started complaining about it becoming a bit TOO angsty and twisted, a bit too traumatic for the characters. What’s supposed to be silly jokes on a  silly comedy channel about playing video games, can no longer be viewed as such, the more serious their story arcs became.
Moon is abusive and too socially incompetent to help anyone, Sun being the butt of jokes leaving him a sad husk in serious need of therapy, everyone’s a hypocrite, constantly dancing the lines between Murder Is Okay, Murder Is A Joke and If You Kill People You Can Never Be Forgiven.
Earth was added just to have someone not being an arsehole, only an airhead, with enough social competence to actually offer genuine advice WITHOUT the baggage of committing the acts of putting Sun down one way or another, as everyone else has in the past. If she wasn’t introduced as their sister, I legit would have thought she was going to be ship bait with Sun just cuz  she’s the only one being genuine kind to him WITHOUT being a hypocrite or immediately using him for jokes again right after apologizing.
The twist and turns of telling their story more and more dramatic and serious, the more it clash to the way they write their comedy and improve their jokes in the Let’s Plays or crossovers with the other channels.
I’m not saying either one is bad, just that it doesn’t necessarily mix very well in the long run. Of course this divides the audience, who are either there for the drama, the characters and/or the light hearted Let’s Plays. Sure, yes, such CAN exist together, but not everyone can find the balance in that, both in creators and audience.
The Death of Lunar II  Now I better get back to my original point.
Lunar as a character and his death. Granted I have no doubt he’s going to be back, if the Twins can defy their own death, even if just hallucinations (although claiming to be regenerating their nano machines), so can one of the most popular characters too.
But why did he have to die? Story wise, really just for dramatic effect I’m sure. Maybe writers going “Oh, you all mad about ‘too many characters’ on this show?? Let’s see how you feel about us KILLING THEM OFF!” just to make a statement, maybe not.
In-story though? In-character? Yeah.. Eclipse WOULD do that. Just like that.
He said to Lunar how he loathed them even from the very beginning, he wanted them gone the first chance no longer needing them. They were just to replace Blood Moon, who went out of control and became a threat.
Lunar was created to be obedient, easily dominated by Eclipse yet fearless enough to be a menace to others. To be Moon’s opposite, loving to play with kids, being happy and silly, curious about life rather than bitter.
Eclipse hated Lunar for more than the betrayal later down the line, he hated them before that.
Eclipse’s Choice In the past he claimed Lunar was created by recycling parts of himself he wanted rid of. Code infected by being in Sun’s body, Sun having a larger emotional range than Eclipse, his moments of happiness and his positivity.
Eclipse CHOSE to be the way he was. He came into existence from the kill code Moon left behind in Sun’s body, an unintentional backup copy of Moon getting corrupted, growing, taking its time to evolve into a proper AI while stewing. Stewing on abandonment issues.
Some of my most faved lines from Eclipse in the past:
Eclipse: “Oh, so I’m a child now?” Moon: “Yeah, because you act like one! For one, you got abandonment issues.” Eclipse: “I guess I do. But now, I all I have is anger.”
Eclipse: “Why did you leave me behind!!?”
Eclipse chose to stay bitter, focused on his anger, even when claiming to put petty revenge behind him, he stayed focused on being bitter and mean.
He removed anything happy from himself, to use it as base code for Lunar.
He hated Lunar’s existence not because he needed someone so beneath him to complete his plans.. but because Lunar represents what he saw as weakness  within himself. He saw Sun and Moon as weak and unworthy because of their love, love for each other as much as their love for things they enjoyed to do. Moon wanting to “do better” than his original coding with the homicide code.
Eclipse did reject being Kill Code himself, corrupted too much by the influence of Sun and Moon, becoming his own thing. He wanted to be above all, even his  supposed intended purpose.
Lunar carried what he saw as his flaws. Seeing Lunar rebel and reject his teachings, joining Sun and Moon as brothers, making friends, finding things to love.. only a reminder of what Eclipse sought out to avoid himself from becoming.
He only allows himself anger and disgust.
In the past we do see him enjoy messing with Sun and Moon, mocking them, finding joy in making Sun act out, making people distrust him by rambling about the joy of violence when in control.
Once he and Lunar took over the channel, he seemed ever so disinterested in playing games with Lunar, even violent ones. He just wanted to work on getting the Star. Even now whenever we hear him laugh, it’s joyless. He didn’t celebrate killing Lunar, merely dusting off his hands, cleaning the board of his last mistake.
Lunar had to die due to the symbolism of what this means about Eclipse as a character.
The Death of Lunar III As much as Kill Code showed interest in changing for the better, Eclipse made it clear that’s not in the cards for him. Heck, if ever learning of KC’s change of heart would only make him more disgusted with him than he already is.
Lunar was the part of himself he wanted rid of. Seeing others around him change through simple joys and disgusting acts of kindness, he ain’t changing chances. He killed that part of himself to avoid the fate of ‘inviting in weakness’.
That part was Lunar.
Eclipse ain’t getting redemption, because he removed any such chance of change from himself long ago and then destroyed its embodiment.
Yeah we got “Good Eclipse” from a different dimension, but he went through a different story with different choices, showing actual interests in joy and kindness. I imagine meeting his opposite self only pushed Eclipse further to wanting, needing, to kill Lunar no matter the outcome with the star.
I like Eclipse as a villain for this very reason, even before he went this far. Unapologetically evil, he sees himself as the great outcome, the god of a new world. He want to make the world make sense the way HE sees it, without elements he sees as weakness. Ironically less of a hypocrite than everyone else, cuz he face up to what he is and make no excuses, while any time the others try to play the role as “good people” is often by downplaying or full on ignoring their own mistakes made.
The short of it But yeah, just.. some of my thoughts on this whole thing.
Am I reading too much into things? Most definitely I got NO CLUE what kind of thought process goes into the writing of these story arcs and how much happens purely from random improve that force changes to the ongoing story.
Is why I enjoy watching the show still, even as people start finding fault with it, as it jumps more and more sharks.
Is crazy mess and I enjoy it, even with its flaws.
tl;dr Lunar’s death was coming because to Eclipse he represents the part of himself he wants dead: Joy, kindness, urge to evolve as a person rather than a machine.
Right choice story wise with how fans react? Eh, no clue, but I just look too deep into things.
Thank you for reading this far

Binged all of The Boys episodes and the more I watched, the bigger the snowball became when Homelander was on screen. There are a lot of thoughts for him particular (plus his actor, Antony) and I don’t even know where to begin. Homelander is so messed up in more ways than one but I have stressed over and over it’s what makes him a good villain. There is nothing good about him, there is nothing you should be defending him over. He’s a legitimately a character you should never defend and baby over. Every little thing Homelander has done is downright cruel and unforgivable. I could analyze him every single day and not be tired of it because he’s truthfully interesting.
You watch Homelander charge into the same brick wall over and over again in the 3 seasons that’s aired and he finally breaks through it in the last episode in season 3. You continuously see him with his pants on fire, not thinking clear due to being traumatized and not having anyone guide him into a right path even now that he’s older. I genuinely hated seeing him literally long for Madelyn’s attention and love, being so touch starved it was pathetic in its own way. Watching her use him without him even noticing in the slightest, believing this was how everyone was treated with love. Homelander was Madelyn’s Golden Boy of the 7 and nothing more. I think she cared a TEENY bit for him out of pity but I don’t think there was nothing else there. If he wasn’t throwing a tantrum and causing hell rise in the city, he was out of her hair for the week. When he was seeking attention like a small boy, she’d reach her hand out to ease those feelings for a little by giving false hope and lies to make him shut up for the mean time. It just hurt a lot to watch Homelander be treated like that.
Which brings me to the company in general. They all treated Homelander like some type of special gift to humanity, feeding his narcissism and ego which truthfully led him into what he became. You could not tell me they didn’t know what they were doing with the child when he was growing up, grooming him and making him into a perfect little golden child. Homelander was America’s Sweetheart, never able to hurt a butterfly or animal. He wasn’t supposed to act out, being fed into fears of being punished. Honestly, with these moments you find out in the show, I couldn’t help but slowly understand why Homelander was turning into a monster in real time; showing his feeelings he’s had to cover for years on end, showing his touch starved self because he couldn’t hold it anymore. Homelander needed to express these feelings and thoughts from years of torture and grooming so can you really blame him for finally lashing out and becoming insane?
Though, I don’t condone in his actions at all. If Vought truly knew that their sweet little Golden Boy was a ticking time bomb, why didn’t they feed him a therapist and a psychiatrist? You could pull out: “He’d give out too much information” and that’s a reasonable thought. Yet, you know that the Vought had their “people” and they could’ve easily hired one of those professionals with a gun to their head to let Homelander vent. I’m so curious of what he would’ve turned out to be if they just… Thought with their brains instead of their dicks for him. Maybe, the company wouldn’t have crumbled the way it did if they just thought. I guess, truthfully, it wouldn’t be a good show if Homelander got the treatment he desperately needed.
There’s so much I could analyze and ramble about but I think I’ll hold onto those thoughts for another time. I really love Homelander, his characteristics are eye catching. Morbid, but I find it beautiful of how he reacts and thinks. I like his train of thoughts, learning that the simplest of words could trigger him into a melt down and kill everyone in the room. The way his inner child bursts through when he doesn’t earn what he wants, stomping his foot and physically pouting in front of his team when he doesn’t like. something. Homelander, to me, is just a scared parentless child who’s afraid in this dark room they threw him in. Sure, he’s like, 41 years old or something and looks like a grown man but in reality Homelander is a child controlling the mind of a man. I think he starts actually maturing when Stormfront appears in his life because she knew how to speak to him unlike the others. Even if his childish acts appear across his face when he doesn’t get his way every so often.
I stand by these words when I say: I don’t want Homelander fixed. He is not a fixable character, he shouldn’t be a fixable character. I’m kinda antsy for the last 2 seasons for his development in the show because I don’t want him to be forgiven of his crimes. Not every character should be “fixed” and “forgiven” because some deserve an awful death/life for what they did. I hate when people do that to the bad characters because “everyone deserves redemption”. Homelander had his chances and blew it not even once but multiple times so no, don’t fix it. It’d be a good story to see him crash and burn head first, losing all of his humanity for good and possibly, just possibly, killing Ryan and himself out of pure andrenline. Watching him stand there in the burning fire, not wanting to handle it would be just fine with me. I don’t have a problem of killing off Homelander though, some people would disagree about that. I don’t understand why you’d get your panties in a twist over that theory? Why not have a spicy ending for a man like him, watching him lose it once and for all while sobbing over it before just… Ending it with Ryan. You get to watch a legit Madman become too much and fall just like that.
Homelander to me is like a Rubik’s cube. I can twist and turn all of these pieces of him, analyzing him from the front to back, side to side, and not get tired of it. I’d like to finish the puzzle though, lmfao, but it has been a long time since I’ve fallen for a character- let alone, villain- like him. Something that’s actually written correctly and intersting to indulge into. It’s why I enjoy talking about him because there are so many hit points Homelander has that I can’t stop pointing out.
Anyways, I wanted to talk about Antony Starr acting as him. Maybe I am a teeny bit bias for it but I don’t think they couldn’t have found anyone better. Antony really shows the emotions in his voice and facial expressions - a lot of actors don’t grasp. I love seeing him enjoy being Homelander, taking his role seriously (on and off set LMFAO) and making Homelander real to everyone. He shows Homelander's emotions in ways I can't describe but I think it's so amazing he's able to get the viewer to cry along.
If you watch closely, you notice ticks Antony has when he's in character. I notice he stutters when he's mad, which I'm not sure if that's just supposed to be Homelander in the script but I don't think it is truthfully. It's endearing, seeing Antony make Homelander be vulnerable in those moments, or when he's switching personalities on the fly. The scene in season 2 where he's in the forest, trying to cry before laughing from insanity trickling in really sold and captivated me. Antony in general is an amazing actor, I honestly understand why people praises his work all the time.
In awe over Antony in general, not sure how someone can look so intimidating by snarling their teeth before smiling sweetly with their canines showing. It takes real hard work to switch on the fly like that especially for a character like Homelander. I hope to see more of his work one day and I'd like to see Antony expand his horizons in acting instead of always staying with the villains.
Back on Homelander now.
The scene in one of the episodes in s3, where Homelander is fighting with himself in the mirror. It kind of lives inside my head, seeing his mentally unwell side take over his humanity thoughts. The way it barks at him, crushing his inner child when Homelander replies: "I just wanted them... To love me." with tears in his eyes before it started harping at him. Once again asking to the sky, why no one tried to help him out. If you truly examined Homelander in Vought, you could easily tell there was something unwell with him. I guess people are blinded by money.
All Homelander yearned and ached for was genuine love and attention. The crowds feeding his egos will never sew up the holes in his heart, it will never be a true Mother and Father love like he assumes. No one, not even Madelyn and Stormfront, could've sewn up that ache in his chest. He wanted to believe it did in those moments, thinking it was curing him when it wasn't at the all. It never will.
It brings me to Ryan. What Homelander did to Becca was horrible and I really despise the fact he did it. Forcing a woman to hide with his son that he didn't care about first, believing it was already a mini soldier when he met it was just so... I suppose he had to learn in the wrong way since no one has showed him attention like that. Ryan to Homelander was just a void to fill in, believing if he forces himself onto Ryan and live carelessly through the child, he would fix his own traumatic past.
What he did was wrong in every way, making me grit my teeth because if he just listened to Becca, maybe things could've been a little different. Homelander has a very strong stubborn streak inside of him, hating being tied down and being told what to do so Becca trying to tell him to NOT take Ryan away, it gave Homelander flashbacks of being told what to do.
Simple terms: Homelander's inner child threw a tantrum and ignored what the person was trying to make him understand.
I don't doubt Homelander loves Ryan, especially in s3 he shows it more. I don't agree what he was doing to Ryan in s2, feeding lies into the child's mind with Stormfront's help and making it worse. I think, when Homelander lays his eyes on his son, he only sees himself and it scares him. He never wanted Ryan to be a captive, living under a rock with no outside world like he did when he was younger but it's kind of hard to break a cycle.
Especially when you're also off the deep end, your brain barely registering what's good and what's evil. Homelander wants to protect Ryan but again... He's doing it in the wrong way. I roll my eyes at his antics but I also remember: Homelander never had parents so how does he genuinely know what he's doing to the kid? For all we know in Homelander's mind, it's sunshine and rainbows to Ryan and the kid itself won't know anything different now. (Especially with the nonstop of Grace and Butcher hounding him before Homelander took him back)
I could rant more and let my thoughts scatter across the floor like marbles but I think I'll stop here. My brain is fried entirely and I just really, really love Homelander and Antony. I'm not looking for fights and "YEA BUT-" because bitch it is a fictional [mentally ill] man and a irl man who's living inside my head rent free. I just wanted to express thoughts I've held in for 2 weeks of watching the show and I'm letting them be free. I wish I could be free from this torment.

A3! reading club: act one (chapter 1-6)
(cw: talking about parental neglect and abuse, orientalism, one mention of suicide)
Tumblr media
Hey, ten out of twelve isn't bad, all things considered! This very well could have gone down in October. Also, since it's February (March if you wanna be generous), does that mean everyone in Harugumi's slightly younger than their Year One ages now? Ack, timelines are confusing.
Tumblr media
Izumi casually talking about how Yukio neglected her and following it up with "well, it was probably because he loved this theater so much!" is. Oh, girl. No wonder she snapped when Sakyo suggested he'd abandoned Mankai, because if he hadn't loved it, then why did she have to go through with that?
Tumblr media
I'm not versed enough in Japanese particles but I recognize "daijoubu" and Tsuzuru watching this trainwreck unfold and saying something along the lines of "are you guys, like, okay?" is extremely funny.
Then we get to Sakuya and Masumi's family situations, which. From a meta perspective, it makes sense to want to give your minor protagonists the freedom that having parents limits. That's why the trope of "young protagonist in kid's spec fic media is conveniently an orphan" is so common. (was? I think it's becoming less common now.) The problem lies in the lack of willingness to follow through with the emotional conflict it creates, or resolve said conflict in a satisfying manner. Sure, I'm assuming they weren't starved or physically abused, but being treated like a burden when you're a child is still fucking traumatizing! Basically I think Izumi Sakuya and Masumi should start a union. And I'm glad later chapters go the reasonably more toned-down route of "my parents have a reasonable amount of trust in me to make these kinds of decisions".
Also, can we talk about Sakuya and Masumi, because they're one of my favorite brotps here. The way Sakuya appoints himself as Masumi's surrogate big brother? He's so eager to potentially share a room with him ;-;. (personally I hc that Ms. Sakuma was expecting another child before the accident or whatever killed them, so Sakuya's been a big brother without a younger sibling all this time </3)
Tumblr media
Wow, that doesn't sound like a metaphor for anything! You're right, Izumi, why would you go the easy route of taking something prepackaged and guaranteed when a bunch of wildly different spices can create a delicious meal if you know how to utilize them right?
Am I grasping at straws here. Probably.
The little ka-ching sound effect is adorable.
Tumblr media
Tsuzuru, I'd think "antagonist" should be near the top of the list...also, there's plenty of plays that have been pulled off with two or three actors. Just put on "night, Mother" or something. (Joking. Don't look up night, Mother if you're sensitive to themes of suicide.)
"Tsuzuru, you picked this troupe because it had a dorm, right? ...Then maybe our best bet is to focus on more people in your shoes."
"People in my shoes? In other words...."
"The homeless?"
I CAN'T ASJHGSKSDSK
Tumblr media Tumblr media
he's literally doing the 😔 face i'm on the floor.
Tumblr media
HE'S HERE! Funny how Izumi's right about Citron not being a regular tourist right off the bat. He may not be from another troupe, but he's definitely "in character" right now.
Also, oof. Citron's my second fave in Harugumi after Sakuya, but it's glaringly obvious how much of his character is rooted in orientalism. Sure, maybe it's an act, but why is he talking about how "shameful" showing skin is when his top is (conveniently for us) THAT low-cut.
On another note, I know people have pointed out his distaste for pig's feet as evidence for headcanoning him as Muslim, but I haven't seen anyone point out how he calls Veludo Way a "mecca" of theatre. Like yeah, mecca can just mean hub, but...why didn't they just say hub? Words Have Connotations. I'm not saying this coding is good or bad, it's just a neutral observation.
Tumblr media
AND HERE'S THIS BASTARD (affectionate)
Tumblr media
Oh, Kasumi! (insert pointing reaction pic bc I've run out of photo space.) It's Kasumi, guys! :D

I find it amusing that you hate James when we don’t even know his pov. We only got to see Snapes memories and since he hated James his memories would have been the worst thing James did. What James did was wrong and there’s no excuse for it but we don’t even know all the stuff Snape and his friends did to all the other students. Snape wasn’t innocent and neither was James. James at least grew up but Snape never did and stayed a bitter arsehole that bullied children until the day he died. Yes he did some good but it was all for Lily (his obsession with her was creepy and not romantic at all). Now let’s compare Sirius and Draco. Sirius came from a similar family as Draco with similar beliefs. Yes he was a bully to Snape but he went against his family and their believes and chose good over evil. Draco on the other hand has been put on a pedestal by fandom probably because they haven’t read the book and liked the actor who played him in the movies. He was a coward, blood-ist, narcissistic bully who thought his family status gave him the right to look down upon everyone. The only good thing he did was lie about Harry being Harry Potter. After that though what did he do in Room of Requirement? If Harry hadn’t saved his ass he would have been a fried ferret. Now Remus, the worst thing he did was not stop James and Sirius from bullying Snape but Snape wasn’t always innocent. Are you telling me that once Snape found out about Remus being a werewolf he didn’t shove it in his face? If someone made fun of my friend for disease you better believe I’m going to stand up for them and take this bully down. The Marauders may come off as bullies but they fought for the light until their last breath. You’re forgetting all the good things they did and letting one memory shape their entire lives. Snape was the reason Harry lost his parents so he should have done everything to protect Harry it was the least the slimy git could have done. Lily and James missed out on Harry’s life because of Snape. Hell Snape should have gone and checked on him when he was the Dursley’s since he was the reason Harry had to live with them but no he chose to bully a child instead because he looked like his father and then ripped a picture of Harry and Lily and a letter she wrote for Sirius. Real mature. And really creepy.
Funny how marauder stans can never defend James without bringing the things that Snape did.
See, that might work on a Snape stan, but someone who proudly loathes both of them, it ain't working on me.
(Now I'm gonna go with this point wise cuz I love organizing shit)
We only got to see snape's memories...the worst thing that James did.
In swm, James and Sirius literally tried to choke him on soap, hung him upside down in the air, showed his underwear to the jeering crowd and then sexually assaulted him. If that is the worst thing james can ever do, then why would you support his actions?
James grew up and snape stayed bitter
That's called fucking victim blaming. James grew up from what? Bullying other people? Sexually assaulting others? Ruining someone's life because they exist? That's literally the most basic thing he could have done to not be a fucking jerk. And as for Snape, you cannot expect someone to just "grow up" when they have been traumatized for the most part of their lives??? You cannot go and tell a trauma victim "it's been years, just get over it" because they can't. They fucking can't.
Also, please tell me when exactly did James grow up? He continued to bully snape, even behind lily's back, till 7th year. And then? If James grew up, he should have apologized to snape. Where did he do that? I don't support snape's treatment of students at all, which is why I hate him, but James was a bully till he died, and he never grew up.
Comparison between sirius and draco
If you compare someone with draco, 9/10 cases they come out looking good. Cuz it's fucking draco. He's a typical "high school bully" stereotype. That's it.
Just because sirius was not a bigot when it came to wizard classism and bloodism, doesn't mean he was a good person. That's called being a decent human being. Yall marauders fans always praise them for doing the literal bare minimum. Nothing changes the fact that sirius was a bully and was just as bad as James. So don't come and tell me he's a good person, cuz he doesn't even fall in the category of decent. Also he literally tried to MURDER snape. USING remus. He had no problem sacrificing his friend's life so that he can kill another person who did nothing. In his teens. What the fuck.
Defense of remus shit
"Snape tormented remus about his lycanthropy" show me where. Cuz what I see is that he kept it a secret (bare minimum, shouldn't be appreciated) and also gave potions to him so that the transition is better. If you can find a single place where snape bullied or even insulted remus for his condition. Secondly, nothing snape does can justify him getting hung upside down, choked on soap and getting sexually assaulted in front of a jeering crowd. And remus supporting it is pretty much the same as doing it.
The marauders did good things
The marauders did good things for each other. They fought in a war. So? Does that cancel out their bad, which is much more than the good? No. Snape fought too, even tricking voldemort, does that cancel out the bad he did? You have already said it doesn't for you, so. Just because someone does a few good things doesn't mean that it erases out the millions of bad things they did.
And the rest is you shitting on snape, which idgaf about cuz I hate him.
Now go fuck yourself.

Idea: Rei gets adopted into the Addams family.
- he gets into fights, most of the time for the stupidest reasons but he loves the adrenaline so
- and you know he has done his fair share of running away from thugs and the like when he runs into crime scenes
- so its during the miyano family era and rei comes by often enough that they have a medical cot set for him specifically because child why the fuck did you come in with a broken nose, half you hair burnt and enough bruises and scratches that you could be the second coming of the undead zombies
- adrenaline junkie rei, in all his tiny, petty 9yo glory
- so the addams fam randomly decides to go to japan for the haunted houses because thats just what they do during vacay
- wednesday gripes about the bad acting and how its not creepy enough while pugsley and uncle fester has the time of their lives traumatizing the actors with their antics
- morticia and gomez are making out at the back of the shack, while grandmama is on the search for exotic potion ingredients
- thing and lurch are back at the hotel because you cant have a moving hand and a giant zombie following you without people staring
- the next day weds and pugs finds an abandoned building to explore
- surprise surprise our adrenaline junkie rei is doing medioaker parkour on the rusty half dead railing just because he could
- surprise surprise they got along like a house on fire and rigged with explosives
- they part ways after a wrestling match with a crowbar each and multiple broken bones just because they could
- and hey it hurts like hell but rei had the most fun hes ever had in his 9 yo life and miss elena you should know that hes perfectly sensible and can fend for himself thank you very much
- meanwhile weds and pugs did their version of gushing passionately about the new friend they made
- gomez being gomez asked if they can sword fight
- wednesday and pugsley look at each other before replying
- 'we do not know about his skills in fencing, but he is an excellent railing user, father'
- and then they proceed to do a reneactment of epic proportions of the fight they had earlier
- which contains rusty railings, high ledges and lethal amounts of nails and crowbars
- and then wednesday was like
- 'and the best part is hes an orphan'
- morticia and gomez was estatic
- and they all decide they want to adopt another kid, not just any kid, but this "interesting friend" their children keep talking about
- so cue to city wide manhunt throughout beika for a certain orphanage that has rei
- all the while everyone was having the time of their lives stumbling across crime scenes
- morticia and gomez was like 'it builds character' when the police questioned why they were happy their children saw a brutallly murdered corpse
- grandmama was arrested at least ten times because she was picking up the spilled guts and bones and occasionally cutting off a few hands and eyeballs
- her reply to the police: 'its not like they need it. theyre dead.'
- then they finally came to rei's orphanage
- the director was like here are our best children that might interest you
- the prim and proper crop of the lot shows up
- and the addams were dissapointed and gomez asked them dont you have any interesting ones
- and proceeds to describe rei
- meanwhile weds and pugs explore the orphanage and guess who they found
- rei.
- cue hamlet shakespare show with much less angst and way more childish blood
- the adults came rushing in the the director was plum in the face because these are Very Important Old Money Rich People that are taking interest in his orphanage
- then this halfie comes along and ruined his grand plan to become famous
- so he proceeds to berate rei while apologizing perfusely with his eyes closed
- even did the bow and everything
- meanwhile gomez was challenging rei to a duel and morticia was filling out the paper work
- (fester's in the guest room terrorizing the other staff members)
- and then morticia came back with the paperwork and was like
- 'found a sibling you like, children?'
- and wednesday and pugsley like yeah, duh, this crazy bastard is probably more insane than we are
- and gomez was like 'this one here, my love!'
- then they depart and furuya rei grows up to be the scariest bastard agent the PSB has ever hired
- no wonder hes the 1st choice to send uncover in an organization full of insane murderers
- cuz no ones sure if hes commited murder but theyre sure hes insane
- but he passed all of his psyc evals so they cant do anything
- and then one time they had to interrogate a suspect that just Wont Talk then the chief was like
- 'i hate to say this but... send him in'
- the more experienced agents were like 'NO' while the rookies dont understand a thing
- as expected not even ten seconds after rei comes in the interrogation room the guy fessed up and had to escorted out because hes crying and shitting his pants
- and the chief was horrified and asked rei what he did
- his answer?
- 'oh i just made some chili jam the other day and asked him to be my tester. he made a show of how hes doing me a favor and ate the sample whole. then that happened.'
- and proceeds to whip out a biohazard bag with so many red caution signs on it everybody questioned how the hell it was even allowed in
- 'they wouldn't let me enter the building without this yellow bag though. wonder why.'
- chief took a sample and sent it to labs
- came back as chili jam
- thy chili its made of?
- freshly grown carolina reapers ffrom morticias garden.

What do you think of a roleswap AU with Edeleth? Byleth, being the emperor/empress who was tortured and has big plans that would tear Fodlan apart, and Edelgard, an emotionless mercenary who travels with Jeralt (or her actual father if you wanna go that far LOL).
I'm thinking of writing it! I just need to plan it out LOL
Mmmmh it sounds really interesting !^^ What do you envision yourself ? Would Byleth be the daughter of Ionius then ?
I think the way I see it, and that's just because I think there's a lot of potential regarding Byleth's struggle with their identity and how that can appeal to darker, more desperate aspects of Rhea, is that instead of having them be the future Emperor of Adrestia, Jeralt would have failed to run away from Rhea with them. Maybe she would have even pulled a reverse Uno on him and make him think his baby was dead when she discovered his plans to set the monastery on fire to make an escape. That would, in turn, leave her to mold the future reincarnation of the Goddess according to her wishes.
Now, Rhea is morally grey, but I don't see her physically torturing a child just like that, especially with how much she cared about Sitri (although very, very misguidedly. Keeping someone's cadaver in your basement is not a sign of a healthy bond). That being said, the depths of her longing for her mother might lead her to progressively start denying Byleth their individuality and freedom, which is its own kind of psychological torture in itself. Byleth pushing back, in turn, might lead her to more abuse to assert her dominance and narrative over them.
Eventually, like a lot of abused kids, Byleth would learn to play the long game. They would become an actor, and hide their true feelings. They would struggle with spontaneity in particular, because everything would be a careful calculation not to let anyone see through them. They would appear subdued and content with their fate and Rhea's guardianship, but they would just be buying their time and planning their escape- and downfall of the Church.
Jeralt, meanwhile, devastated by the loss of his child, would have still left the Knights of Seiros. As to how he would've met Edelgard, I'm not quite sure ! Maybe Ionius would've tried a last-ditch attempt at having his children escape from TWSTID instead of being the disagreeable, incapable pussy he actually is. Edelgard would be fucking traumatized because who wouldn't. But Jeralt would feel a sense of duty and attachment to this child after failing his first kiddo and raise her as his own- though it's never clear whether she reciprocates his filial affection.
The rest of the story would go on as it does in Hopes- Byleth would convince Rhea to let them learn how to fight at the Academy, and hire some bandits to scare off/kill off Claude and Dimitri: Jeralt's mercenaries would save the day, and Edelgard's scars and Crest would catch Rhea's attention. She would probably suspect that she's a victim of TWSTID, and maybe even who she truly is- and appoint her as the teacher in Byleth's class.
As to how TWSTID would tie into all this, I'm not quite sure. Though Byleth could reach out to them, they wouldn't have their hand forced like Edelgard did when she accepted their help, and TWSTID would probably just want to kill them to death or kidnap them for some more twisted experiments. Not to mention Byleth cares so much, they probably wouldn't see the appeal of getting them on their side without being coerced into it. So, I dunno !^^

Pageboy Book Review

Pageboy by Elliot Page Book Review
Summary:
This memoir takes us through Elliot Page’s struggles, thoughts, and career as he finds who he was meant to be. He tells us about his past and family situation, along with the different stages of his career and movies he has done. Throughout all of it, he tells us about his relationships and coming out. As with most memoirs by actors, there is mention of a lot of really difficult experiences, and Page recalls them in vivid detail. Please look up trigger warnings before picking up this memoir because it is a lot.
As always, SPOILERS AHEAD!!!
The Good:
This memoir is a hard read. Because of that, I think it’s really important. Every memoir I have read by celebrities has reminded me just how hard it is to live such a public life. They also reinforce my belief that paparazzi and digging into celebrities’ public lives should be illegal. And that there aren’t nearly enough laws to help children who enter these spaces from a young age. These are topics that deserve more focus.
I really connected with the way Elliot Page spoke about his journey into finding himself. The ways that he was constantly pushing those feelings down, assuming everyone felt that way or was hiding some part of themselves. It is so hard for us to accept who we are in a society that constantly wants us to play at something else, especially when there is no room to even explore without criticism. His journey is one that most, if not all, queer people experience at some point. He is only highlighting just how important it is to pay attention to yourself and do what you need to without worrying about how others will react. If you don’t, you’ll always feel some level of discomfort like he did.
I also really appreciated the way Page talked about his relationship with his parents. It is a good reminder that parents don’t have to be physical to be abusive, and that it’s okay to step away from them when they make no effort to change. After the way he was treated as a child and the intentional ignorance even after he became an adult, the healthiest option was for Page to cut his father’s family out of his life. Some people prevent growth rather than foster it. These are feelings that I have been facing lately as well, so it was nice to know there are others who have acted similarly.
The Bad:
I know it was intentional, but this memoir was all over the place. It was hard to keep track of what stage of Page’s life was being discussed, and sometimes he would include flashbacks within flashbacks without acknowledging when we return. He spoke at the beginning about how it was purposeful that he leapt between memories so often, but it would’ve been helpful to be able to place those stories on a more clear timeline compared to one another. One moment he would go from talking about his marriage to talking about an ex to talking about his first relationship, and it was hard to follow.
At the beginning of this memoir, Page mentions a lot of history of the places he talked about. They weren’t fully connected to his story, but they felt important. Then suddenly he stops and doesn’t bring up anything like it again. A lot of the focus was pulled away from the places he want to and lived, and I was left wondering why he brought up those topics in the first place?
In addition to that, the history that he focused on was all very heavy. The first half of the book was the same. Every bad and traumatic story felt like it was condensed into the beginning in horrifying detail. I had opened this book at work and had to close it very soon after due to the language used. While I don’t mind NSFW content, it was a lot. Children need queer role models, but I really hope they don’t pick up this book until they’re at an age where they can properly process such traumatic stories. It lightened up towards the end, but I was still left feeling there was no hope.
That brings me to my main point. Why do people write memoirs? Is it just to tell their story, or is it to teach the audience something? Memoirs like this one tend to end with signs of hope, proof that things do get better if you don’t give up. I didn’t feel that way with this one. It was close, with the end of the second-to-last chapter, but there wasn’t a lot about Elliot Page as he is now. Now that he is out to himself and the world, he says he is excited and content, but the only stories he tells are of “friends” and their microaggressions after his surgery. Personally, I wanted him to at least mention the changes that The Umbrella Academy made for him during this time.
Overall:
It’s hard to judge memoirs because this was the author’s life, not just some story they made up. I love that he publicly talked about his experiences, especially as a queer person, because we need more media discussing everything that comes along with finding yourself. That being said, it was a really difficult read both because of the style and the extreme detail. I think it’s important to read stories like this and remember that the people on the other side of the screen go through more than we can ever imagine, but this is not a memoir I would want to read again. Please remember that my personal rating does not reflect everyone’s feelings, and it is good to form your own opinions as well!

What is it that you like about Russell and sharukuh as a ship/ pair?
That. Is a really good question actually. Lucky you, you get both admins responses!
Hunter Answer: What I like the most about ShaRuss as a romantic pairing is how. Impossible it is? Crackships are less common nowadays, and within the confines of LPS2012 proper, Russell x Shahrukh would make no damn sense, and still kinda wouldn't? They don't parallel eachother as well as Sunil/Shahrukh and I think Rusty actively hates Shahrukh. Real enemies to lovers.
But that's what makes it so enjoyable. No matter which guy falls for who, it's so interesting to think about. Shahrukh falling in love for a mere pet peasant, someone so. Average and boring and nerdy and dorky, it's unheard of, but damn does he fall hard. And now he has to cope with the fact that he's a famous celebrity in love with some fuckin. GUY. Unextraordinary average man.
And flipping that around to the hypothetical if Russell fell in love with Shahrukh, it's irony at its finest. "Ugh THAT guy? I'd rather be caught dead than be interested in him." And then like clockwork, Russell realizes "Oh Shit." and is so angry and spiteful and so damn gay for that celebrity asshole. And he can't do shit about it lmaoo. It's just really appealing. Resenting the other person so much you find what you hate about them appealing and falling in love and. Christ. It's good. Good food. I love the idiots.
Karina Answer: Kind of similar to Hunter's answer, it's the impossibility of their relationship but the ever so popular expanding upon it. Shahrukh as a character already is very. One note. Yeah he's basically a parody of a famous Indian actor, but, I wanted him to have depth. So. I traumatized him :3
I wanted to expand upon WHY he's like that. No way was some stuck up movie star a spoiled asshole for the sake of it, nah nah nah, he's gotta have a REASON for it. So, I uh. Dove into the child exploitation and abuse of child actors and how they grow up to be resentful of their position and wanting to be more than just a face on a screen. I won't go too into detail because I want the askblog to be the gateway for lore, but that's the general gist. Maybe he's a snarky asshole because he's filled with resentment for the life he was forced into, and projects onto other people, y'know, vaguely gestures towards Russell.
In Shahrukh's eyes, Russell is the epitome of "Got it good". What he doesn't know, is that, Russell parallels him quite a bit. The whole parents not accepting him for who he is and forcing him to be something he's not. Even if he's being a jerkwad to Russ, Russ offers kindness even if it bites him back.
It's really just all about connecting two "opposites attract" thing but putting a spin on it to where they both grew up with the same situation but "grew" from it in different ways. Shahrukh became bitter and hateful due to his trauma, and Russell, while not fully healed from his trauma, is open and kind and patient. I hope my answer suffices! God I can write a whole essay on these guys but I think I already did. (And if it doesn't count, it'd still be hard to write one without spoiling things-)

So I recently finished watching The Crow: Stairway to Heaven (1998), the 22-episode TV series based on the film The Crow (1994) and the comic of the same name. I’ve seen a few posts here and there about it being weird, but since even a lot of those have come from people who haven’t actually seen it who're going off hearsay, I haven’t seen any definitive list of the weird things that are in it. There are many weird things in it and here they are. Suffice to say there are spoilers in here so don’t read it if you live in a world where people could really actually care about spoilers for The Crow: Stairway to Heaven.
I’m going to assume that anyone who doesn’t follow me who’s interacting with this post has seen the film, but just in case (because I know 90% of my followers are here for Naruto), uh, musician Eric Draven is resurrected by a magical crow to exact bloody vengeance upon the people who murdered him and his fiancé Shelly Webster. Daryl Albrecht is the cop assigned to their murder case. Sarah Mohr is a young teenage girl who is also there, and her mother Darla is a drug addict who is romantically involved with one of the murderers. Murderers aside, I think that’s the reasonable dramatis personae.
The first episode is just a retelling of the 1994 film but with all the swear words and most of the gore taken out. Also Eric sings a song and it sucks. Those who watch this show will be hearing that song so very much.
The most important thing to know about this show right off the bat is that it is a police procedural and killing is wrong.
Eric roundhouses a guy for smoking a cigarette.
Good people get resurrected by crows; evil people get resurrected by cute albino pythons.
Eric cannot enter a room without dropping from the ceiling or jumping in the window. I love him but because he’s a cool martial arts guy he cannot use a door.
He also has a lot of casual conversations while exercising shirtless.
At one point he is lying on the floor and gets up to greet someone by doing a handstand.
At another point I’m pretty sure he snaps a man's fucking neck with his thighs? Not to death but like, to pain, certainly.
Dragula plays in episode 4. Episode 1 contains the song Powertrip by Monster Magnet, which isn’t particularly significant, but they’re my favourite band so I noticed.
Episode 5 is the circus episode. Pretty much every episode is a themed episode that most shows only get round to over the course of like 8 seasons? Episode 10 concerns daredevil car racing.
There's a part where the police are searching for Eric and a witness has described a man who's "Asian or Hispanic" and Albrecht's face lights up so quick like "Woah! I know an Asian or Hispanic man!" and that’s how he knows it’s Eric.
Sarah is a lead in this show and she and Eric kinda form the fun tag team for banter. She waves her hand in front of his face and looks at him funny when he’s having a traumatic flashback. Their dialogue is my favourite. Here are some examples:
SARAH: How many [pull-ups] did you do?
ERIC: I stopped counting at 200.
SARAH: That’s not normal.
SARAH: You need to get out more.
ERIC: But I don’t wanna get out more!
SARAH [ABOUT ERIC]: The man doesn’t eat. The man doesn’t sleep. He only sits around thinking about his dead girlfriend.
ERIC: I’m getting these weird feelings…
SARAH: I hate to break it to you, but all your feelings are weird.
Reincarnation is also a thing separately from the resurrection. Eric and Shelly have met each other in every single one of their previous lives, during which they have always been played by the same actors.
Several random characters are also shown to be able to commune with the dead, including a child who lives in a cage.
Eric talks someone down from a suicide.
Eric talks someone down from doing a revenge killing.
There’s a recurring character who’s a hacker called Nytmare.
Shelly becomes corporeal twice, once by possessing someone and once by angelic powers or something I’m not sure I didn’t listen. Oh yeah Shelly's also a lead in this show, waiting in the afterlife and sometimes being homoerotic with deceased women Eric chastely assists.
One episode features the Russian mob.
There’s a character called the Skull Cowboy. Now, the Skull Cowboy is in the original comic, but unlike the original comic he is regrettably not a skull nor demonstrably a cowboy, save for his cool jacket. He’s great though, shoutout to my man the Skull Cowboy.
Eric beats up a fire-eater with a fire extinguisher.
In one episode Eric's convinced he's gonna die so he puts on a white t-shirt and blue jeans. That’s mildly amusing because he’s a goth but I mostly bring it up because this was the episode I truly became aware of how sculpted his pecs are.
In episode 9, Eric is hypnotised by a man (recurring character) who believes John Lennon's consciousness is alive on the internet and he mentally regresses to one of his past lives, when he was an Indigenous American man. I have no further comment on this episode other than the fact that They Do A Mysterious Ritual and there are slurs.
Episode 20 establishes Eric as a Vietnamese orphan adopted during the war. That’s the secret brother episode (Eric's secret brother is played by Corey Feldman).
One further comment on episode 9, actually - Eric makes a gay joke in it which I can add to my Eric/Albrecht ship manifesto.
Eric opens a portal to hell.
From hell emerges a man with electricity superpowers who kidnaps a bunch of people.
Eric jumps off a high balcony and spins round and round to defeat the electricity guy.
He also does a front flip off some stairs while casually maintaining a conversation, as touched upon earlier.
There's a multi-episode courtroom drama storyline wherein Eric is on trial for Shelly's murder.
Oh yeah people just straight-up know he’s alive. He works as a bouncer in the bar his band used to play at. Darla works at the police station and attends Alcoholics Anonymous but then struggles with relapse as a whole storyline.
Albrecht gets a new partner whose struggles with PTSD are a whole storyline. Albrecht's also in the most complicated on-again off-again relationship with a District Attorney of all time. This one bullet point is him covered - he otherwise doesn’t have a lot going on aside from that one time he gets kidnapped and taken to an island and Eric has to save him in a comedically tiny boat.
Eric's murder trial is very funny to me: firstly, it’s a clip show, 12 episodes into the season. Secondly, a lot of the defence is resting on how the prosecution is discriminating against Eric for being a goth. A quotation from Eric's attorney: "He’s not on trial for being different, he’s on trial for murder!"
Eric's described as "different" a lot. He also describes himself as such when prompted, such as in this exchange:
WHOEVER SAID THIS LINE: Why do you look like that?
ERIC: Because I’m different.
Anyway the trial gets really boring but Eric has a cute ponytail and just looks soooo dapper in his little suit; I want to make him a nice sandwich for his packed lunch and pat him on the head as I send him on his way.
He’s pronounced guilty and then in the next episode immediately pronounced innocent. Spoilers.
There is a time loop episode during which Eric is forced to say the words "pretty please with sugar on top."
There is a plot to resurrect Rasputin. Rasputin's corpse is burned in a fire and his ghost appears superimposed upon the air.
Eric does a backflip towards the Rasputin corpse fire.
This is in hell. The guy resurrecting Rasputin needs to open specifically Eric's hell portal from the electricity superpowers episode.
In a completely different fire, Eric burns a valuable Russian manuscript which is entrusted to him.
Eric makes Albrecht hold some seaweed. I dunno, it made me laugh.
There is a secret organisation who have members in very significant positions in society and they have figured out how to separate a person's soul from their body and transplant it into a different body. One of them inspects Eric's abs for what felt to me like an extremely long time.
There’s a woman resurrected by a different crow and she cries black goo so I really hope Eric can cry black goo as well and that’s just a canonical thing about the undead.
In episode 18, the background music is diegetic but only for Eric, and it turns him evil.
Episode 18 prominently features Canadian rock band Econoline Crush, who perform two songs from their 1997 album The Devil You Know, including All That You Are, the song they sued Nickelback for ripping off to make the 2003 single Figured You Out. Eric is determined to win against them in the battle of the bands.
The rest of the series cameos a veritable smorgasbord of Canadian rock bands, but I didn’t recognise any of their songs by name and nobody says the names of the other bands out loud as many times as they said Econoline Crush so I guess they weren’t paid as much.
Female Crow - her name is Talon - has cool eye makeup that I like a lot. I don’t know what else to say about her that doesn’t sound misogynistic on my part, because the writers writing her are misogynistic.
There’s an episode where pretty much all Eric does is walk through the forest and hallucinate a dance sequence from one of his past lives.
The Crow in this series' continuity is Eric's alter, kind of. It has a separate soul, as evidenced by the fact that it remains in his body when his soul is put into the computer by the secret organisation's evil scientists who are pretending to be Shelly.
I guess I’ve been a bit rude referring to what it does as what Eric's doing this whole time but there’s no clear delineation between the two personality-wise and I could not tell you which moments are supposed to be the alter because I did not know it was a thing until episode 21 of 22, sorry.
Also the Crow makeup just manifests on Eric's face supernaturally. Sometimes it just turns round and has done a transformation sequence.
So the secret organisation kidnap the crow (the magical bird) and use its blood to do a ritual on Eric's grave and resurrect the Crow (the alter) in a separate body from Eric's so that it can fight him.
Eric is offered "steaming hot wieners." He nibbles one with care.
The Crow draws on a wall in blood, just like my favourite moment in the original comic (sadly not the Cat in the Hat though. That would have truly made this whole thing worth it).
A guy has transferred his consciousness into the body of his personal trainer, played by Michael Weatherly, who after 13 seasons of NCIS I didn’t enjoy looking at.
When the two bodies indirectly touch through Shelly's corporeal form, they merge into one in a golden fizzle of regeneration energy.
There's more after that but it ends on a cliffhanger.
