[bonus maybe meeting his brother cause is it just me or is meeting the siblings the most nerve-wracking part?]
YES FOR PART 2! tbh, I don't have any siblings so I don't completely get the dynamic of that relationship, so I'm not sure how authentically I'd be able to write it :(
here's meet the parents part 2 ! Hope you like it!
Im open for requests!
Meet the Parents Part 2 (Seungcheol x reader)
Seventeen Masterlist <3 Meet the Parents Part 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was 2 months after you meeting his parents for the first time. You had finally scored the discount from your aunt and immediately had informed Seungcheol's mom about the cruise. She in turn invited you and Seungcheol to go with them, it was an offer you couldn't refuse.
It was exciting and also very nerve wracking. Although his mom was friendly with you now, she would text you pictures from her cruise trip you spoke about last dinner. It was still the second time you were seeing them in person. You just hoped it was normal and not awkward. Heck you even prayed to god, that never happens.
"You're biting your lip, stop it" Seungcheol points out.
It's a bad habit you had developed, you were trying to get rid of it, you asked cheol to point it out for you every time you did, and he happily obliged.
"Don't be scared" he says and you thank him with a smile.
You were on the way to high tea on the cruise. You decided to meet directly for a high tea. You briefly said hi when you got on the cruise.
You made your way to the dining area and saw a shrimp snack table. Not just a plate, an entire table.
“Shrimp!” You squeal and walk a tad bit faster towards the dining area.
“It’s wet be care-”
Before he could finish the sentence or catch you, you have slipped and lost balance.
You squeal and fell straight down.
You were now sitting in your cabin, holding your sprained wrist. Cheol had got you a plate of food you quite literally fell for, a plate of shrimp appetisers.
"How did you manage to do this!" a worried voice echoes as cheol's mother walks into the cabin.
"I'm sorry I've ruined high tea" you say guilt wrapping your brain.
"It's not your fault, accidents happen, we're just worried about you" his dad says and his mom examines the huge bandage around your hand.
"Does it hurt a lot?" she asks making eye contact, as your wrist lies in her hand, every so lightly, like she'd hurt you If she held on too tightly.
"You should've been careful!" you get scolded, you liked it. No one cared for you enough to ever scold you. Even getting scolded felt good.
You just nod, partially embarrassed. Your hair kept falling on your face during this conversation and you try to tie it up with your one working hand, practically impossible for you unless you do some neck gymnastics.
"Let me help you" she says softly and takes the clip from you and sits on the bed next to you. She combs her hand through your hair and sets it in place to put the clutch.
"I've always wanted a daughter to do her hair and put her in cute dress, instead I got two boys who cling to me" she jokes.
Seungcheol whines from the chair. "You put me in dresses! isn't that enough living your dream"
The memory flashes in his mother's eyes and she laughs. "You made a cute girl, I put bows in your hair, until you grew up and wanted to be like your older brother" she playfully sneers at him.
She plays with your hair a little longer, fixing it to perfection. You don't remember the last time your mom did this for you, this moment made you wonder if your mom ever did this for you at all.
You shrug all that when his mom voice cuts through.
"You have very pretty hair" you smile.
You take your free hand to hold the plate of food cheol had got you to eat something, the shrimp looked delicious.
You saw Cheol get out of his seat to help you but his mom beat him to it cause she was closer anyway.
She quite literally fed you and all you could do was be grateful saying thank you after every bite, you didn't even like chives, but you ate them, without complains.
His mom had definitely taken a liking towards you and you could see that, it made you feel good. As if you were finally a part of something, a part of a family where you belonged.
----
“How are you feeling?” His dad asks you.
You and cheol were out with them for dinner, you rested all afternoon with some painkillers that knocked you out for a couple of hours.
“Much better” you respond smiling.
“Im glad, be careful my child” his mom says and you turn red.
You end up getting a fun dinner and and Cheol insisted on getting on the dance floor and dancing. You happily obliged.
He sways you both to beat. You put your injured hand on his chest carefully, he puts his own hand over it softly. You could feel his hand on your bare back, it sends chills down your spine. He looked handsome. You wondered how you got this lucky. He’s perfect for you.
"Are you stealing my mother?" He asks you, his voice faking disbelief.
"She's literally the best, so yes"
"Don't you dare, Im already sharing her with my brother" he warns you playfully and sulks at the same time.
"I'm glad my parents love someone I love" he adds, tucking a hair behind your ears and pecking your forehead.
"I'm glad people that mean the most to you, like me" you say, fully relieved.
"Like you? They love you" he squished your cheeks.
"Im scared to push my luck" you smile.
Silence took over and you were both just looking at each other with love.
“What are you looking at?”
“Your handsome face”
“Why thank you, Im blinded by your beauty too”
“Why thank you kind sir” you chuckle at the odd compliment.
“Im sorry about high tea” you tell him.
“Don’t be, I just want you safe”
“Luckily, I’m the safest here” you say, cuddling into his chest. You could feel him giggle.

hope you enjoy it!
Javier didn't use to be a man to make many promises. He made a few during the years, promises like quit smoaking, clearing Colombia from cocaine, to take care of himself for his mother on her deathbed; he didn't keep any of them. It wasn't like he didn't try, though, Javier was a man of word, things just went out of his control: he did arrest Los Pepes, but the traffic of coke was at full stem ahead even without them, consuming the country, ruining and taking lives of innocent people; it was logical to imagine that taking care of himself was more under his control, but honestly, Javier didn't even know how to do that anymore, his life going south for so long it felt like changing wasn't a possibility.
He still had his father, and living with him back in the ranch again definitely had Javier in the most healthy state of his life that time. His return to Laredo caused quite the commotion, him abandoning Lorraine in the alter was never forgotten, but being part of the chasing of Escobar got him in Laredo's good grace again, he was a hero after all. He hated all of it: the praises and congratulations he didn't deserve, the back pattings and hugs that invaded his personal space, the audacity the people had to 'forgive' him, as if they were people whose opinion he valued.
It's not like he wasn't used to it, he was born and raised there and small towns had small towns' issues, but that didn't mean it didn't piss him off still. His big, nosy family was a part of it, all over his head asking "what was his plan now that he was back home", about "getting a girlfriend to become a wife and finally have kids", because "he wasn't getting any younger" and "was the only single cousin". It was like all his concerns were thrown in his face. He loved them, they were all he had left, but god, didn't they make him feel like shit. Because he had accomplished nothing in forty years, and it was clear that every person around him could notice that too.
The coming of a new year was another reminder of that. During his years in Colombia, he didn't do much other than a dinner with Steve and Connie, neither of them was in the mood of anything fancy at that time, and when they left the country, he simply worked or, in the best scenario, slept. In Laredo, though, his family wouldn't miss an opportunity to throw a party.
"What are your resolutions for the next year, Javi?" his cousin asked.
They both were in the kitchen, the task to cut pickles in very thin, even slices given to them by one of their aunts. Javi stopped his work with the knife to not lose a finger as he side eyed his cousin.
"Don't look at me like that!" she laughed "I'm asking you a question"
"What do you mean?"
"Resolutions, Javi" she rolled her eyes "Like your wishes for the next year"
"You mean, like, manifesting? Are you into that shit?" he couldn't hide the frown on his face.
"No, Javier, not manifesting, even though there's nothing wrong with that" she gave him an irritated look "You write down what you would like to change in yourself, to be a better person next year"
"Is that your way to say that I'm an asshole, prima?" he narrowed his eyes at her and she laughed loudly.
"Well, not just that" she shrugged "I like to do that every year, helps me to keep focused in what I want. And I see the look in your eyes, Javi" she wore a sympathetic smile as her hands caressed his "You have dreams you want to chase, why not start by that?"
A loud scream made them both jump in their places, a tiny human coming through the kitchen threshold with his hands thrown up in the air.
"Mijo" she laughed at the child's prank and the boy giggled.
His cousin had been married for almost ten years by then, a little boy and one girl on the way. Her being younger than him and having accomplished his dreams made a claw made of jelousy wrap its nails around his throat.
Javier wanted a wife, he wanted to marry someone he loved, he wanted to build a family of his own, he just was focused on the wrong things at the wrong time.
So he decided to start with something that should be simple, only one promise to himself: to meet someone in the coming year.
It should have, didn't mean it was, though. It was scary, he found out, to get to know someone after so long, especially at a small town where he knew almost everyone. Javier never had problems to get laid, but most of the woman he hooked up with didn't really seem interested in more than that, after a while it started to feel like a him problem. That being said, Javier didn't know how to start, so the next time another cousin of his said that he would really get along with a co-worker he had, he finally accepted.
The date was... awkward, to say the least. They went to the most popular restaurant in Laredo, every person there looking at him the whole evening; she didn't seem to mind the attention, but Javier did. He tried to make conversation, to ask about her interests, to compliment her, but he was as rusty as a cheap aluminum pot left in the rain for months, years, in his case. She would ask a lot about him, too, but not his hobbies or what he liked to hear on the radio, she would ask about Escobar, how was it like to catch bad guys, if he still had his gun. Javier tried to change the subject, but she would insist on talking about Colombia. She was curious, it was normal, he was used to it, but what a damn turn off it was. Javier felt like being in an interview, the atmosphere heavier and heavier as the questions were getting more and more personal, and by the first hour of the date, he was wishing he was at home.
Javier had this happening before, during his time chasing Los Pepes, the media would be all over him asking all sorts of questions, work related or not, and he hated it. If she wasn't an acquaintance of his cousin, he would even consider her being a fucking journalist, because it was not normal to act like that with someone you had just met.
So after that, Javier was pretty dismotivated to continue his chasing, but his family had already found out he was giving love a chance and wouldn't leave him alone. Apparently, there were many "young women" interested in Javier, according to his aunts. Javier wasn't really comfortable being putten in that position again, but decided to give it a try - few tries, actually. Blide dates were exhaustive and the most of them very unpleasant. In a blink of eyes, it was New Year's Eve again and Javier was still not in a relationship, another failed promise in his mind.
"Well, your plan was to meet someone, and technically you met, like, twenty new women. I would call it a success" Javier rolled his eyes at his cousin's attempt to cheer him up.
"There must be something very wrong with me" he sighed and she pouted.
"Don't say that, Javi! All of them wanted to go on a date with you, you were the one to reject them"
"I know, but- I don't know" he scratched his chin "They all looked at me as if I saved the world, and it's not like that, you know it's not"
She moved the newborn to her other side and sitted closer to him in the couch settled outside the house where they had been chatting for the last hour. Javier looked at the baby in her arms and felt his throat tighten.
"You think so little of yourself, Javi" all her attention was on him, but his eyes didn't meet hers "I know you didn't "save the world", but you tried to make a difference and gave your best to do so, you can't reject a girl just because she admires you"
Javier had done things terrible enough for the good ones to be irrelevants, had let shit happen when he should have tried to stop them, and he had told her that, not in details, but she was the only person beside him and Steve to know, and still thought he was a good person. And yeah, maybe he wasn't so bad after all, but he imagined letting one of those women inside, their eyes shining with pride, letting himself love her, feeling safe enough to tell her about everything and her never seeing him the same way, giving up on him because of his baggage, he knew he would if he could, so how could he put such a burden upon someone's shoulders? Who would want that?
"But I understand, I think" she spoke again, her free hand patting his shoulder "It must feel strange having someone knowing so much about you and you knowing nothing about them. Maybe you shouldn't go on these shitty arranged dates and find someone on your on"
"Yeah, I think you're right" he took her hand in his and gave her knuckes a light peck "Thank you"
"Mijo" Chucho's head appeared on the frame of the door "Would you do me a favor?"
"Of course, Pops" he stood up.
"Your aunts forg-" he was interrupted by shoutings coming from the kitchen:
"You stand there and accuse me, but where were you at the time?" was the voice of one of his aunts "Strolling through the corridors looking for fruitcakes when it's not even the season anymore!"
"You leave my fruitcakes alone!" another aunt shouted back "I don't hear you complaining when you're eating them!"
Javier looked at his father with his brows raised in curiosity, and the old man sighed "Your aunts forgot the jar of pickles, would you mind driving to the tienda?"
"No, I don't"
Most of the commerces were already closed at that time of the evening, but the tienda was the one place everyone in Laredo could count to be open at any time. The owners greeted him when he passed through the door, trying to small talk, and he turned them down the nicer way he could, wishing them a happy new year and going straight to the aisle he was supposed to. He heard the sound of broken glass followed by cursings coming from further in the store and found you staring miseraly at a burst jar of pickles on the floor, the vinegar smell all over the air and a basket full of groceries supported on your hip.
"You okay?" you looked up at him and he felt the the wind knocked out of him; you were the most beautiful woman he had ever seen in his life.
"I am, yeah, that isn't" you pointed to the jar and he smiled.
Probably imagining what had happened by the noise, a man quickly showed up with a broom and a cloth to clear it up. You apologized profusely, saying that you could clean it up yourself while the man said it was no problem.
Javier looked at you one more time and left to get what he went there for. He had never seen you in the city before, and it wasn't like he was out of the ranch often - he tried very much not to -, but you should've been new there; the conversation with his cousin still fresh in his head. When he got to the dill pickles aisle, he shouldn't be surprised that you appeared in the other end of it, you had just dropped your jar after all.
"Hi again" you smiled as you walked towards him and he smiled back.
He felt something very similar to shyness creeping in his stomach "Hi"
"Just getting another one of this since mine decided this life just wasn't for him" you raised your hand and said your name.
"Javier" the handshake lingered a little longer than one normally would, your skin soft against his.
He saw the way you looked at him with interest, he should've asked you out. He should've, you were pretty, were his type and, if new in town, probably knew nothing about him. He should've, but he didn't. Thinking once then twice if he could've been reading it wrong, if you were just being nice and in the possibility to make you uncomfortable asking you out after exchanging two sentences in an aisl store. So he just took a jar, said goodbye, and left.
But something inside of him told him that you, with your bright smile and little jokes, could be the one. So he promised to himself to ask you out the next time he saw you.
And he did. After that day, he would go to the city every chance he had. He told his father he would start doing the groceries so he could rest. Chucho didn't buy that, but did nothing about it, he knew his son, so he knew better than to ask, when he wanted to talk to him, he would. It took a couple of months for him to see you again, in the most unexpected place he could think of. He had taken his father to an appointment in Houston, strolling around to pass the time when he saw you inside a café. His eyes widened and he was quick to move out of your sight before you saw him.
He was anxious, but he had been waiting for an opportunity for months and couldn't let it slide away again. Javier took a deep breath and entered the shop, a bell upon his head announcing his entrance. He pretended not to see you, going straight to the counter to ask for a coffee; he didn't want you thinking he was a stalker or something. While waiting for his drink, Javier would take glances in your direction, you sitted three tables away from him, an open book and a mug on the table before you. With his coffee in hands, he looked around and locked eyes with you, who smiled and waved at him. Even though there were plenty of unoccupied tables, Javier took confident steps towards yours.
"Mind if I join?" the smile you gave him made his skin prickle.
"Not at all" you marked a page in the book and closed it as he took a seat in the chair in front of you.
"I haven't seen you in a while" was his subtle attempt to start a conversation.
"Were you looking for me?" you rested your forearms on the table and lightly leaned in his direction.
Javier smirked, was that you flirting, or was he really that rusty? "I was, yeah"
"Good to know" you smiled again "I travel a lot for work, haven't really been in Laredo"
Before he could ask what you did for work, you asked what he was doing in Houston, so he told you about his father's semester appointment that was only available there, and that made you ask about Chucho's health, and then about the trip, since it was a very long one, but he told you he liked driving and used to do that with his parents a lot, which lead to talking about families, you said you weren't really close to yours, the conversation flowing with neither of you seeing the time pass. It was you the one to bring him back to reality, asking which time he was supposed to get Chucho in the hospital and making him realise that he was already late.
"Javier" you said as he quickly stood up to leave "I don't know if I'm reading this wrong, I really hope I'm not and I'm sorry if I am but-"
"Would you like to go out with me sometime?" the words left his mouth before without hesitation.
Your brows raised in surprised, but your smile could have brightened a whole galaxy "God, yes"
He called you the next day, not wanting to wait a minute longer than what he thought wasn't giving desperation. You set the date for the next week, when you would already be back in Laredo. He went to pick you up and got once more mesmerized by the sight of you; you laughed and affectionately squeezed his arm when he told you that. Javier took you to his favorite restaurant in the city, a cozy little place with delicious food his parents used to take him when his mother was still alive. The two of you talked the whole night: he found out that you were a photographer, had moved to Laredo a few months ago planning on settling down "I'm getting too old for all that traveling, and the house's prices are good" was what you told him. Your favorite food was mexican, you weirdly liked the smell of gasoline and wet soil, loved listening to music, still had your grandparents in your hometown so you visited often, wanted to have a dog but couldn't with your schedule, always dreamt of being a mother. You asked so much about him, too. Not the type of questions he was used to being asked, you tried to know him by asking about his childhood, more details about his parents because they seemed to have had such a beautiful love, if he had traveled out of Laredo before, which got him telling you he was a former DEA agent in Colombia, and he saw the curiosity in your eyes, he waited for the questions about that to come, but instead you just said you've had always wanted to visit South America. Years later, when he mentioned tour first date, you would tell him that you knew what was happening in Colombia at that time and that you knew better than to ask what could be invasive questions.
When you couldn't stay in the restaurant anymore because they had to close, Javier still didn't want the night to end, but drove you to your house still. As he took you to your door and wished you a goodnight, ready to leave, you held his upper arm and gave him a light peck on the lips. As if something snapped inside of him, Javier didn't give you the time to even open your eyes before his mouth were against yours again, tongues dancing together as if they already knew one another and had done this before, hands passing through each others bodies. When you asked him to go inside, he hesitated.
"I don't want you to think that's all I want" he vocalized his concerns.
"I don't" you took his face in your hands, brushed your lips on his and smiled "You're a catch, Javier Peña, I'm keeping you to myself"
Javier took his time with you, kissing every inch of your body, having you giggling and moaning and writhing under his touch. Unhurriedly making you his between wet kisses and moans and screams of his name. He would've stayed connected to your body for the rest of his life if he could've, but your agenda was booked for the rest of the year and all he could have was a couple of weeknds a month and long night's phone calls. But Javier took all you gave him without complaints, even though he missed you so much his chest tighted. He missed your smile, your laughter, your body next to his, your fingers through his hair, your kisses to wake him up in the morning, the way his name souded on your lips when he was inside of you, the weight of your head resting on his chest, the way your right leg would twine between his when you slept. The man was head over heels for you and knew you felt the same, all those nights the both of you cried on the phone, sick of being away from each other proved it.
But the both of you survived that tough time like champions, by then, the end of the year was near, and you went to get your grandparents at your hometown to spend the New Year's Eve with Javier's family, the people who raised you obviously being two of the best people he had ever met. His aunts were in love with you, the kids wouldn't leave you alone and his favorite cousin was so thrilled to finally meet you that she dramatically almost passed out. Everyone spent the night laughing and eating and talking, and watching from afar, he couldn't believe how well you fitted on his family, but he hadn't doubted for a second that everyone would love you, how could someone not to? So when he told you he loved you for the first time that night and you said it back without hesitation, Javier promised to be the best version of himself to get you to wear his mother's ring on your finger by the end of the next year.
Not everything was perfect, nothing ever is. You had some fights, you disagreed in a few things, but something you stablished the first time Javier gave in to old habits and tried to run away from the issue was that you wouldn't sleep without talking about it; no hitting doors, no leaving, no fucking the anger out, you talked and made the effort to change what was bothering. Javier had been in only one serious relationship before, with Lorraine, and damn what a difference it was. He couldn't blame neither of them, they were young and didn't know what they wanted; you, on the other hand, knew exactly what you wanted and it still shocked him that it was him. You wanted him, all flaws and errors and baggage included, you didn't let him shut you down when things got tough, and with time he learned to trust you, to count on you, to talk about his feelings, his walls slowly tumbling down. The day he told you everything about Colombia was the hardest he had ever been putten through, years of fighting drug dealers and putting his life at risk, and he had never been more frightened. Tears were shared, you didn't react very well to a few things, but you never dropped his hand, never interrupted, never distanced yourself, even thanked him for trusting you, and at the end he felt as light as a feather. You convinced him to go to therapy, emphasizing that he had to treat the psychological consequences of the terror he confronted back in Colombia.
After that, it seemed like you had reached a goal at your relationship, you spending more time at the ranch than at your own house, a great routine already settled, and you made it very clear you were ready to be asked in marriage when you said those exact words to him. Little did you know he was already planning on it, and one day, after photographing a wedding at a neighbor city, Javier welcomed you in the ranch with candles everywhere, a knee on the floor, tears on his eyes, his mothers ring in a velvet red box and the most heartwarming speech one could ever ask for. The wedding was quick to happen, neither of you wanted a big party, just your families and friends gathered in the ranch with the ceremony realized by a very emotional Chucho. Didn't take you long to get pregnant either, your life settled with you being called to take every photo in Laredo and Javier accepting a job at the Sheriff's Office; the both of you had decided to live with Chucho once he had injured his leg during work, him more than thrilled to have a grandbaby under his roof. Javi fell in love with you a little more every day that passed, more and more mesmerized by you and your growing belly. At the end of that year, he promised to be a father as good as the one he had.
And what a good father he was indeed. He dedicated his life to his family, providing all the love and dedication he had in him, gladly waking up during the nights to comfort his kids; yes, you both got tired as hell, made mistakes, got stressed sometimes, but you got the life of your dreams and the both of you had so much love to give that it didn't matter how hard things could get, you wanted it, all of it. With his one-year-old boy sleeping in his arms as you talked to your grandma on the other side of the room, your ring hand carressing your beautiful round belly that carried your next baby, he saw as his babygirl crossed the room shouting with her hands thrown up in the air to scare you, clearly influenced by her cousin, and you playfully shouted back. The dogs started barking and jumping at the commotion, the three-year-old giggling as you kissed her cheek.
Javier felt like his heart could explode inside of his chest, certain that there was no man alive happier than him, he thought about how lucky he was he went to get those pickles all those years ago. The journy the both of you had wasn't quite easy, the challenges you had to face, the expensive phone bills he got when you were apart, the fears he had to overcome, even those years in Colombia, he would have done it all again and again and again if it meant to be where he was at that very moment, to wake up everyday by your side, to always have you in the passanger seat to rest his hand on your thigh, to have the kids laughing and running around the house, to experiencing the type of love his parents had.
At that New Year's Eve, Javier kept the same promise he had been keeping the last years: to give his all to the family of his own.
"Javi, baby" you called him, your smile as wide as always "I'm craving pickles"

Summary: After your solo mission goes wrong, Natasha is left to deal with the aftermath.
"Do you have everything?" Your mother asked you worried "Spare guns, enough weapons, two suits, all the information about the target, your Widow Bites?"
"Calm down, Mama." You calmly stated, placing your hands on her shoulders "I have everything I need. Besides, it's only a one-day mission." You pointed out "I'll be back before dinner."
"You better!" Your godmother, Wanda, laughed as she passed by you and your mom talking in the living room "I'm making your favorite for dinner tonight to celebrate your first solo mission."
"Thanks, Aunt Wanda!" You shouted after her "You are the best!"
"Alright, that's enough." Your kom sternly told you and you frowned at her, not understanding why the sudden change in her behavior "Promise me you'll be safe. Okay?" She said now in a soft and hushed tone "I need you to promise me that you won't start wandering off, doing God knows what, stupid things you might do instead of finishing your mission and do not, and I mean it, do not, by all means, let your guard down or ignore Maria's orders from the base. Do you understand it? Since you're going to be alone, there will be no one to have your back. That's why you need to be very cautious."
You sighed and rolled your eyes, tired of your mother's speech.
"Fine. I promise." You dragged out in a bored tone of your voice
"Thank you." Natasha nodded before moving her hands and resting them on your cheeks as she gently cupped your face "I love you so much, baby. Please be careful. I can't risk anything bad happening to you. You're all I have in this world. My miracle."
"You know, one day you'll have to finally tell me why you keep on calling me your miracle." You chuckled "It's not like you're the only woman in the world who had just one child."
Natasha kept silent for a moment before nodding as she gave you a small, shy smile.
"How about you come back to me in one piece and unharmed tonight and after dinner, I'll tell you why I call you that? Huh?" Natasha asked
"Deal!" You nodded quite excited about your mom's trade
Natasha pulled your face closer to her as she leaned and kissed your forehead.
"Be careful, my love." She whispered once she rested her forehead on yours, booping your nose with her own "Mama loves you so much."
"Love you too, Mama." You brightly smiled before having to interrupt the sweet moment "I really have to go now. See you at dinner." You called out as you started walking away to the QuinJet, leaving your mother alone with her thoughts and worries
"Natasha Junior? Do you copy?" Maria Hill asked you through the comms as she had been assigned to be the one to coordinate your mission from the S.H.I.E.L.D. quarters
"Firstly, I do, Agent Hill." You responded "And secondly, why do you keep on calling me Natasha Junior? My name is Y/N!"
"One day, kid." Maria answered "Maybe one day I'll tell you. Now focus on the mission." The brunette instructed "Your target is supposed to be on the fifth floor. Eliminate it!" She ordered
"My pleasure, Agent Hill." You smirked as you cut the transmission through your comms
You started to check every level of the building to make sure you eliminated any possible danger before making your way to the fifth floor. But something was awfully strange because there was no one in sight. Literally. Not one person in all four floors you checked before reaching the fifth.
"How's it going, Agent Romanoff the Second?" Maria asked
You rolled your eyes at her comment, getting more and more tired of people treating you like either a baby or as your mother's double.
"Maria, something's weird about this place." You answered, your voice slightly shaking, as you chose to ignore the nickname that Maria gave you only seconds ago
"What do you mean, kid?" Maria worriedly questioned as, back at the base where the older woman was, she made a sign with her hand, sending everyone around her in alert
"This building it's way too empty." You pointed out "Way too quiet."
"I think you should retreat, young agent." Fury's voice boomed in your ears through the comms as he, just now, connected his comms to your frequency, just like Maria "This doesn't smell good."
"Wait, Sir." You said as you loaded your gun "I'm going inside the room where our target is."
"Romanoff, no!" Fury shouted "I said retreat! Get out of there!"
"Too late, Nick. I'm going in." You ignored Fury's instructions and direct orders and banged open the door
The room was empty, with just one lonely chair sitting in the middle of the room. It was creepy. Just like in those movies you used to watch on a team movie night that your mother totally disagreed with the boys on letting you watch. One man, sitting on the chair, with his back at you, was the only other thing present in this room. You couldn't see his face, but from behind, it looked very much like your target. Approaching him with careful and silent steps, you held your gun up and aimed at his head.
You knew that by now, the man was supposed to notice your presence. But even if he did notice, your target made no move to indicate that he knew about your arrival. Slowly, you put your hand on the man's shoulder which felt so skinnier than any other normal shoulder, and spun the chair around.
"Cyka blyat!" You loudly cussed in Russian as you came face to face with a skeleton dressed in clothes and that was wearing a wig "It's a trap!"
"Y/N, get out of there!" Maria shouted "Now!"
You bolted towards the door, only to stop when some men started entering the room.
"I'm outnumbered." You let the headquarters S.H.I.E.L.D. team know what was happening
Maria, who was asked by your mom to take extra protection measurements for you on this mission, has ordered her backup team which was already on the field, waiting for Maria's orders, to go and take you out of there.
"Hill, hack the security cameras or any device that can show us what is happening over there." Fury ordered
"Already on it, Sir!" Maria started to quickly type something on her computer as multiple images of the same scene, viewed from different angles, popped up on the big screen for everyone to see
There you were, surrounded by different men, clearly outnumbered by far.
"Hi, guys!" You nervously laughed at the men in front of you "So I think this is a little misunderstanding. I have no idea who you guys are and I'll just leave." You looked around for a way out of this situation
You quickly spotted a window, not far behind you and you quickly turned around, ready to jump out through that window, only to be pulled back and pinned to the ground by one of the creepy men that started to form a circle around you.
You didn't even get time to register that you were now on the ground when those men started beating you.
Punches were thrown at you at an incredible speed as well as legs that were hitting you full force either on your back, stomach, or in your face.
"Great job, boys." The deep, cold voice of a man echoed throughout the entire room
The mysterious figure started clapping alongside with an evil laugh that made your ears feel as if something was scratching them from the inside out.
"Did they really think we wouldn't find out about their plan?" The same man asked "Let me see who they have sent after me this time."
All the men quickly stepped aside to allow their boss a clear view of your face.
You painfully rolled on your side and looked up at the man.
Your eyes going wide once you've recognized the man in front of you.
"My, my, my..." The man you now identified as your target, chuckled "If this isn't Natasha Romanoff herself!" The man smirked
"Actually..." You groaned "I'm her daughter, you moron."
The man's eyebrows shoot up in shock at your statement before a wide smile spread on his face.
"The universe never stops blessing me I see." The same man spoke "I'm looking for a Widow, only to come across an even more important little Widow. The greatest Black Widow's, Natasha Romanoff's, only offspring!" He laughed "The sun is shining on me today!"
You reached for your secret gun, only to have your hand smashed to the floor by one of the enemy's feet.
"I was just so hoping they would send your dear old mother here today as I have an old, unfinished business with her." The man continued "But seeing you here today, it's so much better than seeing her because I can get to your mother through you."
"Never!" You breathed out as you spitted some blood out of your mouth "I'll never tell you where my mother is hiding."
"Oh, but who said something about going to look for her when I have a better revenge in store for her and S.H.I.E.L.D. that will make them suffer immensely." The man laughed once again
"Oh yeah?!" You mocked him "I'll let you know that nothing you could ever do will manage to make them suffer even in the slightest."
"Is that so?" The man mocked you back with a smirk "Well I know one trick that will do the job." He looked up at his men "Kill Romanoff's daughter."
"Wait, what?!" You shouted as you started fighting around and trying to get out of the other men's grip, as one of them took out from behind his back a gun
You made one last attempt to free yourself but failed.
"Mama..." You mumbled scared under your breath as you shut your eyes tightly closed
"S.H.I.E.L.D, get down!" You heard someone screaming before total silence as you hit the ground full force
The enemy has shot his bullet.
And that bullet stopped right in your head.
Only darkness was left to accompany you from now on.
Back at the compound, Natasha was trying to watch her favorite movie to distract herself from worrying about you.
Keyword: 'Tried'.
Because, for the life of hers, she couldn't concentrate on the damn movie for one second as her mind was filled with worry and different scenarios of what could be happening on your mission right now.
"Hey, Nat." Wanda interrupted Natasha's trail of thoughts "I made you some popcorn."
"Thanks, Wanda." Natasha tried to smile at her friend
"You're thinking about Y/N, aren't you?" Wanda questioned as she put the bowl with popcorn aside and sat down next to Natasha
"I can't stop thinking about her. What if she's hurt? What if she needs me? What if she forgot something she might need at home?" Natasha started panicking as she voiced her worries "I'm her mother Wanda and I allowed her to go alone on that dangerous mission. I should have gone with her."
"Nat..." Wanda sighed "I know that it's hard to not worry about her. I worry about her as well. We all do. Because we all know what these missions mean but you have to let her grow. She's already a young adult and she needs to do things on her own. Even dangerous missions. That's how she learns."
"I know but..." Natasha stopped with a quiet gasp that left her lips as she raised her hand and rested it on her chest
"Are you okay?" Wanda worriedly asked, once she saw her friend and mentor suddenly scrunching her face in pain
"Something just happened..." Natasha breathed out painfully before her face drained out of all color as the realization settled in "Y/N..." She whispered "She needs me." The spy stumbled up on her feet "She's hurt..."
"Wow... Slow down mama bear." Wanda grabbed Natasha by her shoulders, keeping her in place as the older woman wanted to bolt toward the door "I think you've let your maternal instincts take too much control over you and they slowly started tricking you."
"Wanda, you don't understand..." Natasha cried out as tears were already streaming down her face "I have this feeling in my chest that tells me that something bad happened to my daughter. You'll fully understand when you'll have your own babies."
"Okay... Breathe, Natasha. Deep breaths." Wanda instructed, taking a few deep breaths, motioning to Natasha to do the same as her "Why don't we go and ask Maria first so we can ease your worries once you hear Y/N/N is okay?"
"Okay." Natasha nodded rapidly, urging Wanda to start moving faster "Let's go."
Not even two steps out the door and the compound filled with the sound of an alarm that worried the women even more than they already were.
"Are we under attack?" Wanda shouted in order to make herself be heard over the alarm
"I don't know!" Natasha looked around the room, scanning it for any threat
"Alert!" F.R.I.D.A.Y.'s robotic voice echoed throughout the entire compound "Dr. Banner's assistance is requested in the medbay immediately."
"F.R.I.D.A.Y., what happened?" Natasha questioned the A.I.
"It appears that young Miss Romanoff was brought to the compound in critical condition." F.R.I.D.A.Y. clarified "Her vitals are hardly detectable, closer to none."
That was the moment when the world came crashing down on Natasha's shoulders.
Every word that Wanda was telling Natasha disappeared in space and time as the mother was staring into nothingness, unaware of her surroundings.
Wanda hadn't even bothered to try and snap Natasha out of her trance, as she just grabbed her friend's hand and quickly dragged her to the med bay, where the rest of the Avengers were already starting to fill the waiting room.
When Natasha snapped out of her daze, she found herself in a chair in the med-bay's waiting room with Clint and Wanda by each side of her.
"Clint?" Natasha whispered under her breath barely audible but the man heard her anyway as his head snapped in her direction
"Nat?" Clint quietly called his best friend to make sure he hadn't just imagined hearing her call him
"Why am I here?" Natasha mumbled confused "When have I came here?"
"You've been sitting here since about an hour ago." Clint explained "Y/N it's been in surgery ever since then."
The moment she heard your name, everything came back to Natasha.
The reason why she was sitting here.
"Where is she?" Natasha panicked "What happened to her?"
"Calm down first, okay?" Clint tried his best to calm the Russian woman from having a panic attack "The mission was a trap. They caught her and wanted to take revenge on us."
"What did they do to her?" Natasha asked through grinned teeth as anger and pain mixed together inside her
"They... umm..." Clint thought about how to say this in a more friendly way but honestly, there was none and he just sighed "They shot her."
"But she'll be fine, right?" Natasha's voice shook as the anger turned into heartbreak "Right?!"
"They shot her in the head..." Clint hesitantly continued his sentence "Bruce is trying his best to stabilize her and save her. By some miracle, she was still alive when the rescue team brought her back."
Natasha didn't have any more energy or will to say anything as she burst out sobbing.
The heart-wrecking sobs of a mother who has to live now with the fear that she might lose her baby forever at any given moment.
Everyone was silent.
None of the mighty heroes dared to say one word to their teammate, not even comforting words.
Just Wanda had enough courage to rub Natasha's back up and down.
"She's going to be okay." Wanda whispered when the silence became too much to handle "You'll see."
"What if she won't be?" Natasha sobbed "I can't lose her! She's all I have!"
"That won't happen, Nat." Wanda said "She loves us too much to leave us and we all love her even more than she loves us. If she survived till here she's going to keep surviving just like she did from the first moment of her existence."
Natasha nodded but she couldn't bring herself to say anything more, good or bad.
It's been the longest 10 hours in Natasha's life as she waited for any news, no matter how small it was, about her daughter's state.
"I feel like I'm about to lose my mind very soon." Natasha spoke up "That is if I haven't lost it already."
"We know, Nat." Steve sympathetically said "But all we can do is wait and hope she'll be okay."
All voices were silenced when the door of the waiting room was opened and none other than an exhausted Bruce, stepped inside with a sad look on his face.
Every person in the room jumped on their feet as some of them were sitting on the chairs and the rest of them on the floor and circled their friend anxiously waiting for any update.
Natasha being at the front and center of the waiting group.
"Please tell me that my daughter is okay." Natasha's voice was waving with emotions "Give me some good news."
Bruce took a deep breath and then took his glasses off, thinking of the best way to explain what was going on to the team, but most importantly, to Natasha.
"So, the bullet went through her right frontal lobe tip toward the forehead and well above the base of the skull, stuck inside her skull and I had to take it out, that's why the surgery took so long and also the reason why she survived with a gunshot head wound till she was brought here. The bullet fortunately hasn't hit any vital brain tissue or vascular structures."
"That's a good thing. Isn't it?" Natasha breathed out but still couldn't allow herself to relax until she knew every detail about your state
"It is." Bruce mumbled "But..."
"But what, Bruce?" Wanda snapped at him "Tell us once and for all what's wrong with my goddaughter!"
"I'm sorry, Nat, but she fell into a coma and I have no idea when she'll wake up." Bruce sadly announced, turning to look at the redhead
It was happening.
Natasha's worst nightmares were becoming a reality.
The things she has feared since the first moment she decided to have you, were slowly turning into an undeniable truth.
"No..." Was all Natasha said, shaking her head in the process
"What chances of survival does she have?" Steve asked the question everyone was burning to hear the answer to
"After the initial impact of the bullet with her skull, she had 10% chances of survival given the circumstances of the shot, which only got lower and lower with every second that passed." Bruce looked around the room "But now... None. I give her no chance of survival. It's only a matter of time until the inevitable will happen of Y/N leaving us without her. The longest I can keep her hooked up on the life support machines that are currently the only thing keeping her alive, it's 2 weeks. After the 2 weeks have passed, I'm going to have to turn them off, with or without her mother's approval." His gaze stopped on Natasha who was open-mouthed staring at him "I'm so sorry, Natasha. The only thing that can save your daughter it's a miracle from above that will make her open her eyes before the 14 days have passed."
"Can I see her?" Natasha calmly asked
Everyone present in the room shared different looks of worry on their faces as they knew that Natasha's calm demeanor was nothing more than the silence and calm before the worst storm in history happened.
Natasha was strangely too calm after what Bruce just announced and it wasn't good.
"Of course!" Bruce confusedly answered "She's in the ICU so only a selected few will be able to go in and see her and just for a short amount of time for now. Natasha is the only one allowed to permanently stay by Y/N's side if she wants to."
A few answers of agreement were murmured from around the room.
"Come with me, Nat." Bruce looked at the woman in question "But I must warn you that she isn't in her best shape. It can be hard seeing her like she is right now. So if you think that you can't handle seeing her like that, I recommend you to wait for a little before going in."
Bruce's warning seemed to trigger Natasha's anger as she gave him a death glare.
"My baby girl needs me! She's lying in that bed, waiting for her mama to come and protect her!" Natasha shouted at Bruce "Do you really think that I give a fuck if I'm ready or not to see her in the state she is?! She's my baby either way!"
"Alright, alright!" Bruce held his hands up in surrender "I was just doing my job. Follow me."
Bruce started to walk away as Natasha followed him closely behind.
Natasha entered inside your room with Wanda, Steve, and Clint hot on her heels as they wanted to make sure that Natasha wouldn't do any stupid thing once she was left alone.
And they had been right in following her because, as soon as your mother stepped inside the room where you were kept and laid her eyes on you, she started to fall forward as her legs suddenly couldn't support her weight anymore.
Luckily, Steve caught her right before her knees made contact with the floor and, lifting her, the man helped her walk to your bed as Wanda brought a chair for Natasha.
Clint, Wanda, and Steve retreated to give your mother some privacy with you but still waited outside the door in case Natasha would need them.
Truth be told, after seeing you, neither Wanda nor the boys were actually okay, they just managed to hold it together long enough to be out of Natasha's hearing reach, as Wanda and Steve hugged each other and cried on the other's shoulder while Clint supported his back on a wall, slid down to the floor and started crying in his hands.
Natasha hardly managed to gather enough courage to look at you.
You were looking so fragile, so pale, so small, so defenseless, so... lifeless.
It broke Natasha's heart into a million pieces to see you like this.
Your mother took a deep breath before looking you all over and seeing everything you were attached to.
There was a bandage wrapped all around your head, a breathing tube that Natasha knew was going all the way down your throat and that she also knew it would be very uncomfortable for you when you woke up and felt it for the first time as well as multiple wires put on your chest that were connected to different kind of machines and monitors.
The beeping monitors were the only thing keeping Natasha sane in these moments as she so desperately clung to the tiny bit of hope that she dared to form despite Bruce's words.
She reached to grab your hand but quickly pulled back, scared that she might hurt you even more if she touched you.
Your face was covered in bruises and who knows where else those brutes might have hit you.
"Hi, baby..." Natasha whispered, her voice being untrustingly shaking "I want you to know that Mama's here now. I am not going to leave you alone. Not again. I am going to protect you with everything I have and everything I am." Natasha sniffed "But please just wake up." She started sobbing "Wake up! Open those beautiful eyes of yours and tell me that you're okay. Tell me that this is nothing more than just another one of the silly jokes that you make to scare me because you think it's funny. I can't live without you."
And with that, Natasha slammed her head on the edge of your bed and started sobbing as she gently put her hand on top of yours.
She let out all the pain she had bottled up for so many endless hours that felt like an eternity to her.
How could anyone do something like that to her sweet and tiny baby?
"I'm not mad about the mission, if that's what you think." The woman cried "All I care about is you. If that's stopping you from waking up just know that the mission means nothing to me. Life means nothing to me as long as I don't have you by my side baby."
The next day, Natasha was still by your side.
She hasn't moved an inch nor has she taken her eyes off of your face, hoping you would open your eyes.
"Before you left for that mission, you made me promise that I would finally tell you why I keep on calling you my little miracle and I have to honor that promise." Natasha sighed as she took your hand in hers "Even if you haven't kept your part of the deal, I will keep mine."
~~~~~
Having babies was the one choice that Natasha Romanoff never wanted to be taken away from her.
Sadly, it was one of the many choices about her life and body that was taken away from her.
Better said, ripped away from her in a brutal way.
At least, that's what she thought for many years of her life.
That, was until one of Tony's parties where Natasha got so drunk that she didn't remember what happened at the party in the morning.
All she knows is that one moment she was having a drinking contest at the bar and in the next one she woke up alone and naked in her bed in the middle of the afternoon with an enormous headache.
When the sickness started showing up around 3 weeks after the party, she hadn't thought anything of it at first.
But after her fifth day of constant sickness, she went to Bruce for a check-up and ended up finding out that, apparently, she was very much pregnant.
It seemed that whoever took care of Natasha's graduation ceremony in the Red Room, hadn't done a very amazing job and by the biggest miracle of them all, she ended up pregnant.
Natasha was on could nine.
She couldn't have been so lucky.
It was all too good to be true and yet here she was, getting ready for the arrival of her baby in this world.
Her own flesh and blood.
She was immediately put on bed rest and Bruce, as well as other doctors, had prohibited her from even letting her make a sandwich for herself.
She was put on permanent bedrest and the pregnancy was classed as a high-risk pregnancy.
It was a little bit hard at first for her, as Natasha was used to her active lifestyle but slowly accepted that she had to do everything the doctors told her to do so she could bring a healthy baby into this world.
She was 28 weeks into her pregnancy, meaning exactly 6 months and a half, when she suddenly felt a pain in her lower back and stomach as she was lying down on her bed after she had just woken up from a nap.
It was a very sharp pain that only grew stronger and stronger.
Afraid of what that could mean, Natasha, shouted for Wanda to help her, knowing that the witch could hear her from her room.
Wanda has been very supportive and helpful throughout the pregnancy, a fact for which Natasha planned to ask Wanda to be the godmother of her child.
And as always, Natasha was right, when Wanda came running in, alerting everyone of what was happening to Natasha.
15 minutes later, Natasha was crying in the med-bay's checking room as Wanda held her hand tightly.
"I don't want to lose this baby, Wanda!" Natasha cried to her friend "I can't lose it!"
"It's going to be okay." Wanda tried to reassure her friend but couldn't hide her own panic about the whole situation very well
"Wanda, help me." Bruce stood up from his chair and quickly rushed to look through his medical supplies "Natasha is officially in labor. The baby is coming."
"No." Natasha cried "It can't be. It's too early."
"I'm sorry, Natasha." Bruce sympathetically looked at the red-headed woman "But you've entered in an early labor. This was caused by the problems you have, that were caused by the permanent damage to your reproductive internal organs. Your cervix it's too weak to hold the weight of the baby so I have to perform a C-section to increase the chances of survival for your premature baby."
"Do whatever you have to but please save my baby." Natasha sniffed as she nodded to let Bruce know she understood what he was explaining to her "But please promise me that if you have to choose between saving my life or saving my baby's life, you will always choose my baby."
"I promise." Bruce nodded without hesitation
"Thank you." The soon-to-be-mother whispered as Bruce put an oxygen mask over her face
"They're going to be okay? Both of them? Aren't they?" Wanda asked Bruce with shimmering eyes
"Natasha is going to be just fine." Bruce reassured before he took a deep breath in "And about her baby, the only thing that I can guarantee you is that, starting from this moment, they're entering in a life or death race where the little baby will fight for its life."
"Please try everything you can to help them both survive." Wanda pleaded with the man
"I'll try my best, Wanda." Bruce promised
A few hours later, Natasha started to wake up as her eyes adjusted to the, what seemed bright for her, light inside the room.
"Shh... You are okay, Nat." Wanda, who was sitting by her side, quietly reassured her
"My baby..." Was the first thing Natasha mumbled in her dizzy and confused state as the effect of the anesthetic slowly wore off
Looking around, the red-headed spy noticed that the room was filled with her most trusted friends and co-workers.
"Your baby is alive. Don't worry." Bruce spoke
Natasha painfully forced herself to sit up, using her elbows as a support "Where is it? I want to see them. What is it? What do I have?" She asked curiously as she had yet to find out the birth gender of her baby
"It's a tiny girl." Steve answered for Bruce with a small smile on his face "Oh, you should see her, Nat. She is so tiny that she fits in the palm of my hand comfortably."
A wide smile spread across Natasha's face.
A little girl.
She has a little girl.
She secretly hoped for a baby girl but didn't want to voice her wish out loud just in case the baby was a boy.
"Where is she?" Natasha smiled, looking all around the room for a glimpse of her baby "I want to see her."
"Well, I am sorry to inform you that you will have to wait for a little to do that." Bruce explained
"Why?" Natasha worriedly questioned "What is wrong with her? What aren't you telling me?"
"Given all of the health problems you have regarding your reproductive system, besides being a premature baby, she is also an underweighted baby who is trying her hardest to fight for her life. She's barely weighing 500 grams when she should have weighed around one kilogram." Bruce said
"Aww..." Natasha's eyes instantly filled up with tears "She's so tiny. That's so light..."
"I know." Bruce nodded "She is now in a special room where she is constantly monitored."
"Take me to her." Natasha rushed to say
"I'm afraid I can't, Nat." Bruce denied her request
"I'm her mother!" Natasha raised her voice "I have the right to see her. She is just a tiny little baby. She needs her mama with her."
"Natasha, listen. I don't think that's the best idea yet." Clint agreed with Bruce's words
"Why?!" Natasha shouted "I need answers! Why won't any of you let me see my newborn baby?!"
"Because she is not going to make it!" Bruce shouted back frustrated "Is that what you wanted to hear?!" He quickly calmed back down "I am sorry but her survival chances are very small. Almost close to none. She keeps on stopping breathing once in a few minutes and the oxygen machine can't keep on helping her for too long as her little body starts failing and if she does, by the biggest of miracles, survives, she is never going to be a normal and healthy kid. She will forever need someone's assistance and help even with the simplest of actions."
Natasha closed her eyes in pain.
She can't let her baby die before even getting the chance to live.
Her only baby.
The only one she is ever going to have.
Bruce already warned her that as soon as this first and last baby she had ever conceived was born, he will finish the job that the Red Room started to prevent any future health problems she might have.
She was given this baby for a reason.
The universe can't just give her a little angel only to brutally take it away from her before she even got the chance to see it for the first time.
She is going to fight the universe for her daughter's life and keep that baby alive.
"I don't care what you have to say but I need to be by my daughter's side." Natasha spoke with the well-determined motivation of a mother who was ready to do anything for her baby "I have to be there and help my baby fight for her life."
All eyes landed on Bruce as everyone was eagerly waiting for the doctor to decide.
"Steve?" Bruce sighed after a few minutes of careful thinking "Bring a wheelchair here please."
Said and done.
Less than 5 minutes later, Natasha was pushed closer to the incubator where her premature-born baby was struggling to hold on to life.
Tears rolled down Natasha's cheeks when she first took in the sight of her baby inside that incubator.
It was a mix of tears between happiness and pain.
Happiness that she got to see her baby for the first time.
Pain because not even a few hours old and her reason to live is already suffering.
'The Romanoff curse.' Natasha thought
"Hi, baby..." Natasha whispered with a small smile present on her lips as she rested her forehead against the side of the incubator "I am your Mama. You have no idea how much I have waited for this moment and you will never understand just how much I love you. Mama loves you so much, baby. God..." She breathed out as she looked at the baby's face, noticing a small tuff of red soft baby hair on top of her daughter's head "You are so tiny. So fragile. So defenseless. But do not worry sweet baby, Mama is here to protect you and take care of you forever. I promise."
Just as she finished speaking the heart monitor that was connected to the baby started beeping uncontrollably at an incredibly fast rate.
"What is happening?" Natasha frantically asked as she looked from her baby to Bruce "What is going on?"
"This is what I've been telling you about, Natasha." Bruce calmly answered once the fast beeping chased down, turning again into a steady pace beeping "This is happening once in every few minutes. She is going to keep on stop breathing until her tiny body has no energy left to resume her breathing again."
"But there must be something you could do to help her!" Natasha cried as she focused her gaze on the sleeping baby
"I'm sorry but there really isn't anything more I can do for her other than supervise her." Bruce said with a sad tone of his voice
Natasha sniffed as she carefully stuck her hand inside the incubator through the special hole and hesitantly touched the baby's hand with her pinky finger.
The baby's hand being as big as Natasha's nail on her pinky finger.
The mother gasped once her skin made contact with her baby's skin, the first physical contact between mother and baby, making Natasha's chest suddenly swell as even more love filled her heart for the little critter in front of her.
Natasha never believed it was possible to love someone so much and yet here she was.
But no happy moment lasts forever and this moment wasn't any exception as it got interrupted by the quick beeping of the heart monitor.
"It's okay, my love." Natasha whispered as she very gently started massaging the baby's chest with her fingers "Just breathe, baby girl. Mama's here. I am going to take care of you. All you need to do is to keep breathing for me." She cooed "My sweet baby girl Y/N."
As if you could hear her, the monitor went back to its normal beeping almost instantly.
"Thank you, sweetheart." Natasha smiled relieved as she kept resting her fingers on your chest just in case you need her to rub again your tiny chest.
"You're just wasting your time, Natasha." Bruce said but received nothing more than ignorance from the woman
The man left the room not even bothering to offer to take Natasha back to her room so she could rest as he already knew she was just going to deny his offer.
"That's it." Natasha praised you with a smile on her face "Big deep breaths for me, baby."
Over the next 2 days since you were born, Natasha never moved from your side as she kept on rubbing your chest day and night without rest.
She hasn't slept for at least 5 minutes in those 2 days but in all honesty, she didn't need the sleep.
All she needed was for you to be okay and breathing.
And much to everyone's surprise, you stopped breathing less and less in those 2 days until your breathing turned into an uninterrupted steady pattern.
That shocked everyone.
The team, Bruce, and even different doctors that gathered from all around the world, most of them being Bruce's friends, to see you, had been left speechless at the miracle that happened to Natasha and her baby.
"Listen carefully to what I'm about to say, Natasha." Bruce warned her at the end of the second day that the spy spent rubbing your chest "If she keeps on breathing without any incident over the night, tomorrow I'll declare her out of the danger zone. She will have to spend more time in the incubator but her survival chances will increase to 90%, the rest of the 10% it's kept aside for the moment just in case. Also, the good news is that as soon as she's strong enough to be taken out of the incubator, you can have bonding time with her and hold her. How does that sound?" He finished with a smile on his face
"That sounds wonderful." Natasha widely smiled "Thank you so much, Bruce."
"Don't thank me." Bruce chuckled "Thank yourself and the miracle that just happened, that had suddenly increased your daughter's survival chances."
"I like how that sounds." Natasha smiled with a relieved expression on her face "A miracle for my little miracle." She turned her head toward you "Did you hear that, baby? You are my miracle. My little miracle that keeps fighting despite everything being against her."
One thing was for sure, after the conversation between Bruce and Natasha was over, you never stopped breathing ever again after that day.
~~~~~
"And that's why you are my little miracle." Natasha sniffed as she wiped her tears away "Because you defied all odds and you are here. Because despite everything, you chose me to become your mom. And because you kept fighting even though everything was against you and no one was giving you any chance or offered to help you fight for your life."
The only answer Natasha received was the beeping of the machines.
"And that's exactly why I need you to prove to me that you are my miracle again and keep fighting despite everything." She continued "I know you can prove them all wrong once again."
Your mother brought your hand up to her mouth and pressed a soft kiss to the back of it. She has to keep fighting to keep you alive for as long as possible.
On the fourth day that passed since you had entered that damned coma, Natasha was very much still by your side just in case you woke up and needed her. She hasn't showered, eaten, or relaxed for one minute.
Steve and Wanda were taking turns bringing her food that she barely even touched.
Natasha was still waiting, still hopping, still praying that you would wake up.
"You should go and at least take a shower if you don't want to take a nap in your bed." Wanda stated from the doorframe, her gaze fixed on Natasha's back that was turned to her "You stink."
"Thank you very much for the suggestion." Natasha mockingly chuckled "But no. I can't leave her alone. What if she wakes up and instead of seeing me by her side, she wakes up alone and scared looking for me? I can't risk that."
"She won't be alone, Nat." Wanda walked over to her friend and put her hand on Natasha's shoulder "I'm going to stay here with her until you come back."
Natasha hesitated "I'm not sure, Wands."
"Do you remember her first ballet class?" Wanda asked
"How could I ever forget?" Natasha chuckled
~~~~~
Wanda was sitting in the back of the dance studio as she waited for Natasha to arrive from a meeting where she was stuck, so they could both watch you perform your first ballet class together.
She promised she wouldn't miss it for anything in the world and Wanda knew that even if the world was on fire, Natasha would ignore it and come to watch you perform.
On cue, Natasha burst inside the room and looked around trying to spot you in the group of kids that were present there today.
It didn't take her too long to catch a glimpse of the fierce red hair that you inherited from her.
You brightly smiled when you saw that the person who opened the door and stepped inside the room was none other than your mother whom you adored so much.
She was the center of your universe just like you were to hers.
You ran to her with your arms open, wanting nothing more than a big hug from her.
"Mama!" You cheerfully shouted as you jumped into her arms
The other parents present in the room, stared with their mouths open once they saw that not only THE Natasha Romanoff come to a children's ballet class but also that one of the kids jumped in her arms, calling her 'mama'.
"Hi, starlight!" Natasha smiled, kissing the side of your head "Sorry I'm late, but you know how Grandpa Nick is when he starts talking.
You giggled at your mother's comment "Actually, you're just in time, Mama."
"Oh, that's such a relief." Natasha giggled before kissing your cheek and placing you back down from her arms "Go and have fun sweetheart. Mama will be watching you from there." She pointed to the spot where Wanda was sitting.
You nodded and turned back to your place as your first-ever ballet class began.
Tears beamed in Natasha's eyes as she watched her perfectly healthy and fully developed 6-year-old daughter take her first ballet class.
"I know right." Wanda leaned closer to Natasha and whispered in her ear as the, then brunette, witch read her friend's mind "It's like yesterday when she was born and we had to take turns constantly watching over her."
"My little baby is growing up so fast." Natasha quietly sniffed trying to hide the happy tears in her eyes away from the world
"Look at her." Wanda awed at you "She is absolutely adorable dressed like that."
"Wanda?" Natasha's voice shook "I think I'm about to cry..."
"Aww..." Wanda chuckled and started to rub Natasha's back up and down "You are such a mom."
"Oh shut up!" Natasha chuckled as she sniffed her tears back
"What?!" Wanda silently laughed "It's true!"
The rest of the class went smoothingly and your little self couldn't have enjoyed it more.
"You've been so amazing, baby!" Natasha praised you once the class was over "I'm so proud of you!"
"Did you see me, Mama?!" You excitedly asked "I did everything the teacher said!"
"We both saw, sweetie." Wanda kissed the back of your head as Natasha was being the one to carry you in her arms to the car after the class "You were so good! You are so talented!"
You proudly smiled at both women as you loved hearing their words.
That night you were rewarded with ice cream for dinner by your mama and godmother.
~~~~~
"She was so cute in that pink tutu." Wanda tearfully chuckled
"And so proud of herself that she did so well in her first ballet class." Natasha cried then sniffed "I miss her cheerful self, Wanda. I am missing her voice, her smile, her jokes, just everything about her! I want her to wake up!"
"I know, Nat." Wanda sadly replied "But she just needs some time to rest and gain her strength back." She sighed "I want her to wake up too. We all want."
Natasha nodded "Yeah... She just needs to rest a little."
"She won't be happy when she wakes up and sees you in this state." Wanda tried again to convince the older redhead "Just go take a shower and change your clothes. I will be here the entire time. If something changes even in the slightest with her, I will immediately let you know." She encouraged "Just go take a quick shower, please. You need it."
"Okay." Natasha deeply sighed "I'll go."
"That's the spirit!" Wanda smiled
"Sometimes you're a pain in my ass." Natasha lightly chuckled "No, wait! You always are."
"That's not nice!" Wanda pretended to gasp offended before giggling
"I'll be back in a few minutes." Natasha declared before quickly rushing out of the room, leaving Wanda alone that took her place on the chair by your side
"You really have to wake up, sweetheart." Wanda took your hand in hers "I think you had enough sleep now. You can't keep doing this to your mother or us."
Despite Wanda's pleading there was no change in your state. Wanda sadly sighed as she tried to enter inside your mind and see what was going on in there, only to be blocked away and left without an answer.
"This is going to be a long day." Wanda whispered, putting her head in her hands
A week has come and gone since the mission and even 2 more days after it.
It was officially your ninth day of coma and Natasha was starting to grow more and more agitated and nervous as the mark of the 14 days was quickly approaching. There wasn't any change in your brain activity nor any other general change in your body and it was driving your mama insane.
She is always talking to you, hoping that you could hear her and come back to her.
People always came in and left, checking on both you and your mom.
Today, after Fury's visit, Maria decided to spend some time with Natasha and have a talk with her.
"How is Natasha Junior doing?" Maria asked Natasha once she took a seat in a chair on the other free side of your bed.
"The same." Natasha sighed "You know, you really need to stop calling her like that. I don't think she likes it."
"I told you we should have named her that. But you just didn't wanted to listen." Maria defended herself "You chose 'Y/N' instead."
"Because that's how I wanted to name my baby, Maria." Natasha shook her head "I can't believe that after all these years you are not over it yet."
"How can I?" Maria said "It was a brilliant idea and you just ignored it."
~~~~~
Natasha has just been allowed to hold you in her arms for the first time since you were born a week ago and she couldn't describe how happy the feeling of having you, lying on her bare chest made her feel as you were both covered by a blanket.
"So, do you have a name for her?" Pepper asked as all the women who lived in the compound, gathered around to find your name
So far, the only person who knew your name was Bruce and Natasha made him promise he wouldn't say a word about it till she will officially announce it.
Natasha looked down at your face as you were peacefully laying on her chest, despite all the wires you had on you and the small breathing tube in your tiny nose.
"She's going to be named Y/N." Natasha softly smiled at you before looking up at the girls that were surrounding her "Girls, meet my daughter, Y/N."
All the women awed at the name. Various 'That's such a cute name' or 'It suits her perfectly' were heard from all around the room.
"Why don't we name her 'Natasha Junior'?" Maria's confused voice silenced all the others and everyone turned to look at her just as confused "I mean, look at her, she's clearly the perfect replica of her mother. I think that 'Natasha Junior' would suit her better than 'Y/N'." She scrunched her face at your name
"No, Maria." Natasha rolled her eyes "I am not going to name my daughter 'Natasha Junior'."
"But why?" The brunette agent asked confused "It's a brilliant idea. She will be Natasha Junior and we will call you Natasha Senior. I'm a genius!" Maria smiled, proud of herself
"It's still a no, Maria." Natasha firmly stated "It doesn't matter how good of an idea you think it is. I now know why I chose Wanda as the godmother and not you."
Maria gasped offended.
"Excuse me?!" She protested "I think I would have made an amazing godmother."
"And I think 'Y/N' is the perfect name for this perfect little baby." Wanda commented, mocking Maria with the fact that she was the godmother and not the agent
"Okay, girls. That's enough." Natasha stopped the two grown-up women, who were acting like children, from continuing to fight "You are scaring my baby."
Maria poked her tongue out at Wanda and huffed annoyed while crossing her arms.
"Unbelievable." Natasha quietly said, shaking her head at Maria's behavior
"I still think we should name her 'Natasha Junior'." Maria pouted
"Maria!" All the women shouted at once
~~~~~
Maria and Natasha shared a laugh at the funny memory of that day.
"I still think you should have named her 'Natasha Junior'." Maria laughed
"You're unbelievable." Natasha shook her head with a smirk on her lips
"I mean..." Maria started "She looks more and more like you with each passing day. It's an undeniable resemblance."
Natasha turned her head toward you and lovingly stared at your face.
"You looked just like her when you were her age. I will forever remember how you looked like when Clint brought you for the first time to the agency. You were the same age your daughter is now. And I had just turned 21 back then."
"You were one tough and cold woman back then." Natasha chuckled
"You were the same, I could mention." Maria smiled but it quickly faded away "I'm so sorry that I couldn't stop this from happening to your daughter. I feel really guilty about it."
"It's okay..." Natasha whispered "Don't be. It is not your fault. You couldn't have known that something like this would happen." She sniffed "In fact, I should actually thank you. If you wouldn't have sent that backup team, my Y/N would have never made it alive to the compound. They acted very fast."
"As they should." Maria stated "They better be fast or they are losing their jobs."
"Aren't you a little too harsh with your agents?" Natasha questioned
"Maybe." Maria shrugged "But if I'm not harsh with them, they will never be good enough to face hard situations." She explained
"Okay." Natasha nodded "I'll leave this one to you. You know what you need to do with them."
Maria nodded at Natasha as she, as well as your mother, turned to look at your sleeping face. Maria didn't want to lose one of her agents who was also her niece. She could only hope that you would wake up before the 14 days that Bruce gave you were over.
On day 12, Natasha was looking out through the window as she held your hand when she suddenly felt something.
"You know, if you keep watching us from there it's not going to change anything, weirdo. That's called stalking." Natasha casually said as she kept looking out the window unbothered
"I couldn't help myself." Clint spoke from the vents and jumped down from the ceiling into the room "You know me so well."
Natasha turned her head and looked at her best friend without any emotion on her face.
"I can see your wheels turning in your mind. What is bothering you?" Clint asked as he walked over to the window and supported his back on the wall, turning to look at the woman
"If she needs more time then whoever has her life in their hands, can take time from me. They can take years from my life and give them to my daughter. They can take however much more time I've left to live and transfer it all to my baby. All so she could keep living. I'm ready to give up on my time and life in exchange for her having more time here." Natasha stated emotionlessly, turning to look out the window again
"Because that's just what any good mother would do. Laura says the same thing all the time." Clint looked behind him through the window then back at Natasha "Are you still going to keep on letting her be an agent after all of this?"
"I have no idea, Clint." Natasha finally looked away from the window to the man "Being an agent has been her dream since she was nine."
~~~~~
It had been 3 days since your ninth birthday that you had to spend at a party not with children but with terrifying S.H.I.E.L.D. agents who were wearing party hats and who brought you gifts.
You were the only child at your party. Your uncle Clint was away on a vacation with your aunt Laura and your cousins as the rest of the Avengers had been sent on different last-minute missions all around the globe. They all felt really sorry that they couldn't be there for your birthday but promised to make it up to you once they were back.
And of course, Natasha had to be called in for work in the base as well so she brought you along with her. Just that, Natasha wasn't actually called in for work, she alongside Maria and Fury had a surprise party ready for you. All S.H.I.E.L.D. agents had to come and pretend they enjoyed being at a now 9-year-old girl's party. Fury's orders. But much to their surprise, they actually and geniually did enjoy it. Spending that entire day among all those brave agents made you realize that you wanted to follow in your mother's footsteps. You wanted to become a hero, save the world, and fight for justice.
Natasha was sitting on the couch at Clint's farm since he and his family returned in that specific morning from the vacation, so the parents were taking advantage that their children were asleep and had a cup of coffee while chitchatting. That was until little footsteps were heard and you appeared at the bottom of the stairs.
"Come here, my sleepy girl." Natasha set the mug down on the coffee table and opened her arms
You immediately ran into them as Natasha lifted you up on her lap and you snuggled closer to her chest, starting to play with the ends of her hair.
"How did my beautiful baby girl sleep?" Natasha quietly asked, kissing the top of your head and rubbing circles on your back
"Good, Mama." You sleepily smiled up at Natasha
You were still asleep when Natasha drove you both to the farm early in the morning so she could visit Clint and Laura and ask them about their trip, so she just carried you upstairs to the bedroom you and her shared every time you stayed over and let you keep sleeping.
"Mama?" You rubbed your eyes with your fists and slightly pushed yourself back to look at Natasha
"What is it, my angel? Tell me." Natasha tucked your hair behind your ears
"I want to be just like you when I grow up." You brightly smiled at her, your big emerald green eyes staring into your mother's eyes that were the same shade and color, hoping to make your mama proud by making this choice "I want to be an agent."
Both Clint and Laura laughed and awed at your cuteness agreeing that you would make a really good agent but Natasha was still keeping silent.
"Mama?" You confusedly asked as you saw her deeply lost in thoughts and thought you had upset her
"Well if that's what my baby truly wants then who am I to stand in her way of achieving her dream." Natasha gave you a small smile "But are you completely sure this is what you want to do? You know that Mama's job can be very dangerous. I don't want you to get hurt. Mama can't stand seeing her little baby in pain."
"I do, Mama. I want to save the world just like you do and I want to be such a good agent one day that all the other agents will respect me just like they respect you. I want to fight the bad guys and win." You excitedly nodded
"Well just always keep in mind that we don't always beat the bad guys." Natasha explained "There are some times when the bad guys kick our ass too."
You laughed at your mom's use of words.
"Mama, it's not nice to say that word." You giggled
"You're right, baby. I'm so sorry. Mama was just saying silly words again." Natasha smiled at your laughter that was music to her ears "And if after everything you found out this is still what you want to become in life then I guess that we can go and talk with Grandpa Nick and Aunt Maria and I could start training you."
"Thank you, Mama." You excitedly cheered and clapped your hands "You are the best mama in the whole Multiverse!" You quickly kissed her cheek "Did you hear that, Uncle Clint?! Mama is going to help me be like her!"
"I did, Y/N." Clint laughed "And I could help you train as well. Teach you how to shoot arrows."
"No, thank you, Uncle Clint." You shook your head and laughed "But maybe you can be our practice dummy because Mama always beats you. I saw it when you were training with her."
Clint's face turned as red as a tomato from embarrassment and both Laura and Natasha burst out laughing.
"That's right, baby! The Romanoff girls will always beat everyone." Natasha laughed, kissing your cheek "Especially your uncle Clint."
Over time as you grew up and started your training as an agent, you quickly climbed your way up to the ranks of S.H.I.E.L.D. just like Natasha did many years ago and made yourself be respected and remarked through all the other agents. And you couldn't love it more. You absolutely loved what you were doing and the choice of following in your mother's footsteps has remained the best decision you ever took up to this day.
~~~~~
"You have to admit that she did an amazing job at being an agent." Clint cleared his throat "She has always been a good child, a disciplined one, quiet, smart, and cheerful."
"She has made me so proud and she still does." Natasha sniffed "But I love her regardless of the way she is. She is my baby, Clint. I'll love her unconditionally forever. There's nothing she can do that would make me not love her."
Clint walked away from the window and over to his best friend. He knew that she was just wearing her mask that kept her true feelings away from the outside world just like she always did. So without any word, he hugged her as tight as he could as the once fearless Russian assassin broke down sobbing in Clint's arms, finally showing her emotions to someone who could provide her with comfort after so many days of crying alone.
"I'm so scared, Clint!" Natasha admitted, sobbing on the man's shoulder "I'm scared that she won't wake up in time and Bruce or the others will mistake her for being dead when she isn't. She can't be."
"I know but you have to keep fighting for her as you've always done and she will keep living on her own time. Not on time that she borrowed from you." Clint said "Keep being the mother she knows. The mother that had always kept her alive through any method she could. Keep loving her and she will keep living."
What Natasha hadn't realized as she nodded along with Clint's words was that there was a deeper meaning behind the man's comforting phrases.
Natasha has to keep fighting so you can be able to keep living.
But much to everyone's horror, the dreadful mark of 2 weeks since you were shot arrived, and while every member of your family was already mourning your death, Natasha was still trying to negotiate with you and convince you to wake up.
She tried to bribe you with everything.
She offered to give you anything you wanted. From material things, to holidays anywhere you wanted to go and to extra cuddles each night before bed.
She tried everything and anything but you still weren't showing any sign of waking up.
Bruce was checking your vitals as everyone gathered inside your room and anxiously waited for him to give them any news about you.
They waited for him to say at least one word that would give them any reason to keep holding onto the hope that you are going to wake up.
Bruce's face suddenly fell as he turned himself to face the waiting family and sadly shook his head.
"No!" Wanda cried, throwing herself in Vision's arms and the robot hugged her tight
"No brain activity. I'm so sorry, guys. She's dead." Bruce clearly announced "I'm afraid there is nothing more I can do for her other than taking her off of the machines."
Various people started crying but Natasha was unphased by Bruce's words as she kept stroking your hair out of your face and mumbling reassuring words to herself.
"Don't worry, baby." Natasha quietly muttered "I won't let them do anything to you. Mama will keep them away from you."
"Can you give us a moment?" Bruce looked at his friends "Just Steve and Wanda stay behind in case we need to use our force against, Nat."
They all nodded and slowly emptied the room as Wanda and Steve listened to Bruce's instructions and stood behind.
"Nat..." Bruce softly spoke as he placed a hand on your mom's shoulder "I think you should go out and give us some space. I think it's time to say goodbye."
"Goodbye for what?" Natasha confusedly looked up at Bruce "My daughter isn't going anywhere."
"You should listen to Bruce, Nat." Steve encouraged "He needs some space to work."
"He is not going anywhere near my daughter." Natasha angrily threatened as she stood up on her feet.
"Calm down, Natasha." Steve tried his best to calm her "How about we just go to take some fresh air? You need it. You have been locked in here for the past 2 weeks."
Steve grabbed Natasha's arm and started dragging her toward the door as Bruce bent over you and started to turn off the machines around you and pulled the breathing tube out of your mouth.
"Get away from my baby!" Natasha screamed as loud as she could as she punched Steve in the face
Steve quickly recovered from Natasha's punch and held her tighter as she struggled to get out of his grip.
"Natasha, no!" Steve yelled as he pulled her back
But Natasha was having none of it and from a swift move, she knocked Steve out and started running towards Bruce.
Right before the ex-assassin reached Bruce to attack him, she was once again held back by a force.
This time it wasn't a physical force but an invisible one, more exactly, Wanda's magic.
Bruce bolted to the door in an attempt to get as far away from Natasha's anger as possible.
Poor Steve being left unconscious on the ground.
Once Bruce was out of the room, Wanda released Natasha from her magic hold.
Your mother wanted to take her anger out on Wanda but the lack of a certain beeping that was keeping her sane in the storm of thoughts inside her mind, made her eyes fill with tears as the realization of what she just witnessed Bruce do settled in.
She slowly walked over to you and very carefully laid down beside you.
"Please wake up, baby." Natasha quietly cried as she ran her fingers through your hair "I need you to come back to me. Please wake up and prove them all wrong. I know it's difficult but you can do it for me because you are a fighter." Your mama subconsciously brought her other free hand up to your chest and started rubbing it just like she did when you were born "There is still so much that we haven't done together, so many movies that we haven't got around to watch yet and there is still so much stuff that has yet to happen that I need you around for when it does or that I want to see you do. You can't just leave." Natasha couldn't hold it back anymore and started sobbing as she kept on rubbing your chest "Please don't leave me. I need you so much, baby girl. I can't do it alone, so just please wake up for Mama."
"Mama?" A weak, quiet voice whispered
Natasha shoot her head up and hopefully looked at your face only to see your eyes still closed and no evidence that you could be awake, making Natasha think that she only imagined everything.
Wanda lifted her head and confusedly looked at both you and your mother "I-I can feel her..." She sniffed "I can finally feel her."
"Mama..." the same weak, quiet, and dry voice whispered
But this time, Natasha saw your lips slowly moving and a wave of happy tears made their way down her cheeks as she couldn't believe her eyes
"Fucking go get Bruce!" Natasha yelled at Wanda who was frozen in shock "Why are you standing there staring?!"
"Right..." Wanda quickly nodded lost "Yeah... Okay..."
And with that, the witch was out of the door with the speed of light.
"Baby? Baby, can you hear me?" Natasha stood up as she worriedly questioned "It's me. It's mama."
"Mama... Water..." You whispered with your eyes still closed, furrowing your eyebrows and Natasha looked around the room frantically to find some water
After she gave you a sip of water, just enough to make your lips not feel dry anymore, Natasha sat down on the edge of your bed and took your hand in hers.
You had still to open your eyes but Natasha didn't want to force you. She has waited for so long and she can wait a little bit more to see your beautiful eyes again.
"Mama's right here, baby girl. I'm not going to leave you again. I knew you could prove them all wrong. I'm so proud of you, baby." Natasha whispered as she kissed the back of your hand "You are mama's brave, strong girl and there's nothing that can come between us ever. I'm going to stay right here till you open your eyes. Nothing and no one is going to make me leave, I promise, sweetheart. When you are back to your normal self I am going to take time off work and we are going to do everything that I said I was too busy to do with you. We are going to have so many adventures together, just us and no one else, you deserve all of my love and attention and I'm going to give it to you. Nothing is going to hurt you anymore. Not while I am here. Mama will keep you safe forever." She told you as she waited for Bruce to show up
"This... This right here is a miracle." Bruce explained shocked, to everyone that had once again gathered inside your room after they heard the bright news that you woke up "I can't believe it. I honestly have no idea what just happened here. She went from being brain-dead to full brain activity in just a few seconds. I have no other explanation for this other than saying that it is a miracle."
"Well, I do have a name for your miracle, Bruce." Clint stated from behind Natasha where he positioned himself, placing his hands on her shoulders and giving them a gentle squeeze "A mother's love, that's what just happened. A mother's love for her baby that for the third time gave her daughter life. Once when she brought her into this world, the second time, shortly after she was born, and finally once again now. Natasha was the one to bring her daughter back to life once again."
Agreements were heard by everyone's side that was standing inside the room.
"I think you are right, my friend." Bruce smiled and nodded "Y/N will need time to physically recover after these 2 weeks of not using her muscles but that's nothing that some physical therapy can't solve. Let's go and give the mother and her true miracle some privacy. They need it."
Bruce guided everyone out of the room as a few of the team members patted Natasha's shoulder with a smile, letting her know how happy they were for her.
Natasha tearfully smiled at each one of them, happiness written all over her face and also a little bit of guilt when Steve patted her shoulder with one hand, holding an ice pack to his head with the other.
"I'm sorry for hurting you." Natasha guiltily whispered
"We're good. I kind of deserved it and I understand why you did it." Steve shily smiled "I'm sorry as well for being an asshole and not trusting your intuition."
"Uhhh..." Sam and Bucky sang at the same time as they heard the conversation "Cap has said a bad word!"
"Oh, shut up!" Steve tried to hide his giggle
"Language!" Bucky and Sam shouted at the same time
"On your left." Steve shouted back as he started running after his two best friends who had already run out of the room
"I swear that, men never actually grow up." Wanda looked at Natasha laughing before leaning down and kissed the top of your head gently
"See what I have to deal with?" Natasha laughed wholeheartedly after so many days of sadness and crying "Almost 30 years of this shit."
Wanda burst out laughing even louder as she walked out of the room, closing the door behind her as she was the last person that had remained in the room.
Natasha smiled, shaking her head as she turned to look at you, noticing a small smile present on your lips.
"You think that's funny?" Natasha laughed as she pretended to tickle your side
"Mhm..." You hummed in agreement keeping the small smile on your face
And for the first time after 2 weeks, Natasha finally got to see your eyes again after you forced yourself to open them and adjust to the bright light of the room.
Natasha sniffed her tears away as she saw your beautiful eyes look at her, once again, full of life. She hadn't realized she had missed seeing your eyes so much until now.
You sadly sighed as you noticed that outside it was almost dark. Clear signs that the sun just set were present in the sky. When you closed your eyes, it was the middle of the day. When you opened them, it was night.
"I'm so sorry, Mama." You quietly sniffed
"It's okay, baby." Natasha reassured
"I swear I almost got him." You explained "I was this close to successfully finishing my mission. But I failed. I'm such a disappointment. I understand if you feel ashamed of me."
"What?" Natasha asked confused "Are you being serious right now?"
You slightly nodded "Of course. Do you know if he was caught? Or do you know his location so I could go back after him? When did Bruce say that I could get out of this bed and return to the field? I must continue to hunt that man down."
"Y/N, can you even hear yourself right now?!" Natasha raised her voice as anger started to build up inside her that you cared more about a mission than your own health
"Yeah, yeah... I know." You sighed "I messed up big time but I promise I'll make it up to you and take my revenge when I go after that guy. I promise I'll take him down with my own hands. I must finish my mission. I'm so sorry that I made you angry at me because I failed my mission."
"Baby, no..." Natasha pinched the bridge of her nose as she calmed herself down "You got it all wrong. I'm not mad at you because you failed your mission. I got angry because you care about a damn mission more than your own life. You have been shot in the head, Y/N. You spent the last 2 weeks in a coma and you had me worried sick. I thought I was going insane when Bruce declared you dead today."
"Oh..." You breathed out being at a loss for words hearing what happened
"You should care more about yourself, honey. You can't just go around, throwing your life away without caring about what could happen to you. Think about what would have happened to me if I lost you for good." Your mom sniffed the tears that were threatening to fall away "I'm lost without you."
"Come here, Mama." You opened one arm while you patted the bed with your other
Natasha complied and laid down next to you and tightly, but carefully, hugged you.
"Please be more careful and think more about your own life before putting yourself in danger." Natasha whispered as she kissed the top of your head
"I promise I will, Mama." You whispered as you placed your head on her chest and listened to her rhythmic heartbeat
No one understood how was possible that you survived but as Clint said, your mother's love was the one thing that kept you alive when you had no chance.
You will have to be more careful and Natasha will make sure that you will put your life in the first place from now on.
Missions be damned.
You should both consider retiring at this point, after this incident.
One thing is for sure, the bond between mother and daughter only grew even stronger than it was after everything that happened.

Some Much Needed Comfort...Food | John Shelby x Reader
Tumblr media

Warnings: language, mentions of violence (typical to series)
Word Count: 2274
A/N: this was a fun prompt to write...and a good way to take a little break from all the Tommy stories I’ve been writing. Enjoy! :)
Let me know if you’d like to be tagged in stories similar to this one!
———
"I swear with this fucking door..." (Y/N) heard come from outside. She stopped what she was doing at the kitchen counter to walk over to the window and see who the voice belonged to. Upon pulling back the curtains, she saw a man slumped against the doorframe, and he was in the process of banging on the door again. "Someone come down and open this door!"
She watched as this continued for a few moments longer before she decided to leave her house and find out more details on what was going on after he failed at his fifth attempt. "Excuse me, sir?" she asked as she approached him carefully. As she got closer, she could see that he had some blood coming from his lip, and that his knuckles were rather cut up and bloody. "Sir? Are you ok?" concern now in her voice as she continued walking towards him.
"Yeah, I'm fine," the man answered her as he glanced in her direction. His focus was more so on getting the door opened. "Come down and open the door!" he called to whoever it was inside as he banged on the wooden partition yet again.
"You don't look to be fine, sir. Why don't you come over to my place instead. I can help you get cleaned up and maybe make you something to eat," she offered, wincing slightly as she took in his bruises up close. Now she was able to see the dark mark right under his eye.
"I'll be grand once one of me kids comes and opens this fucking door!" he ended his sentence by yelling to whoever it was he was trying to reach, making (Y/N) wince again at the level of his voice.
"I really wouldn't mind," (Y/N) didn't give up easily. She felt horrible that this man was injured and was literally leaning against the side of his house. He couldn't even hold up his weight it seemed.
Before the man could say anything back to her, the door to the house he was still leaning against opened. Both his and (Y/N)'s attention was pulled over to the young girl who was standing in the doorway now. She had her hand on the doorknob as she glanced between the two adults standing opposite to her. (Y/N) recognized the girl. She would always come over when (Y/N) would be outside doing yard work or whatever. And the little girl always had a flower to give to her neighbor.
"The door was unlocked, dad," the girl said in a matter-of-fact tone, her eyes on her father. Her face was straight until her eyes shifted to (Y/N). Then a smile formed. "Hi, Miss (Y/N)," she chirped.
"Hi. How are you?" (Y/N) asked with a smile because it seemed like the man hadn't formulated his response yet.
"I'm good," the girl answered.
"You still could have opened it," the man interjected into the ladies' conversation before it went any further as he pushed himself off of the wall and wobbled onto his feet.
"Are we having dinner? I'm hungry," the girl then asked her father, obviously not noticing, or caring, that he was worse for wear at the moment.
"Does it look like I'm up for cooking dinner, Katie?" the man shot back. His words didn't come out angry. Instead, they were spoken rather incredulously. The child frowned, knowing that she'd now have to go to her aunt's for dinner.
(Y/N) noticed the change in her expression. "I can cook for you," she offered, making the other two people standing at the door stare at her.
The girl jumped in to respond before her father could. "You would? That would be great, Miss (Y/N)! Thank you so much!" she cheered, a wide smile now present on her face.
The girl’s father, however, didn't share her excitement. "I couldn't have you do that, (Y/N)," he tried to let her know that she wasn't obligated to do so even if his child was jumping at the opportunity.
But (Y/N) didn't want to hear it. "I wouldn't mind. I could cook you dinner and then help get you cleaned up from whatever happened," she said, motioning to the cuts and bruises he had.
"You really don't need to. I could..."
"No. I'm helping you and that's final. I'm not going to take no for an answer," she cut him off, her eyebrows raised to show that she was serious. The man just stared back at her with his eyebrows raised as well, but they were instead raised out of shock. "Now...where's your kitchen? I'm making us some comfort food."
The man didn't know what to say, but he sure as hell wasn't going to debate her plan any more. She looked like someone who wasn't to be messed with. He opened and closed his mouth a few times as he thought of a way to word what he was going to say before he let out a defeated sigh. He then stepped to the side and let her enter the house as he dropped his gaze to the ground. Katie was enthralled that her neighbor was going to be joining, and making, their dinner. She immediately ran to the stairs and ascended them, screaming out her excitement.
(Y/N) followed the man into his kitchen and she got right to work on thinking up a plan after he told her to 'have at it'. She decided that she would make her mum's soup recipe that was her personal favorite. It was simple to do, and it seemed as if all of the ingredients were present in this kitchen. So she got to preparing it. Once it was all finished and she had it cooking on the stove, (Y/N) moved over to where the man was sitting, watching her on the chair.
"Do you have any first aid supplies?" she queried when she stopped in front of him.
"Should be on the shelves over there," he answered, motioning to a shelving unit in the corner of the room. (Y/N) moved over to it and found what she needed, and she made sure to grab a few rags from in the kitchen before she joined him again and set her things down on the table.
"Alright...let me see what I can do," (Y/N) said as she stood in front of the man who was now looking up at her.
"You know, I should probably introduce myself before you do so," the man stated with a grin. It was only then that (Y/N) realized she didn't know his name. "My name's John," he then went about introducing himself.
"Ok, John. Let's see what I can do to help you here," she repeated her previous statement, making sure to include his name this time. She then took hold of his chin so that she could hold his face steady as she examined it. While she was doing so, she couldn't help but feel his intent gaze on her face. Her cheeks heated up when she dared to glance at him rather than his cuts and saw that he was wearing a slight smile. She couldn't help but get stuck in the trance that his soft, blue eyes were creating. "You know it'd help me to concentrate more if you weren't looking at me like that," she pointed out when she realized that she was staring.
"Like what?" John quirked an eyebrow, his grin growing.
"Like you are!" (Y/N) countered, her vague but incredulous response making John chuckle.
"Ok, (Y/N)...I'll stop looking at you like I am," he told her once his chuckles had died down.
"Thank you," she huffed through her bashfulness as she picked up the rag and continued cleaning his cuts.
"The soup smells good," he commented after it had been quiet for a few moments. (Y/N) was finished with his face and she was now working on cleaning and bandaging his bruised wrists.
"Thank you. It's a recipe of my mother's," (Y/N) responded with a slight smile on her face. "Alright, you're all finished, John. Please don't go trying to get more cuts and bruises," she told him as she gently dropped his left hand back to his lap.
"I can't promise that," he responded to her, a smile on his face as she sent him a joking glare, "but I will try my best not to," he added for extra measure.
"Thank you," she nodded, stepping away from him so that she could clean up her makeshift workstation.
"How much longer for the soup you think?" John asked her then as he watched her clean up and go back to check the pot.
"Not long," (Y/N) told him as she spun around to rest her palms against the counter behind her.
"I should probably go tell the kids," he said then as he stood from the chair and moved over to the steps so that he could climb them.
(Y/N) didn't get to ask him how many kids he had before he returned and had the sound of pattering feet following him. Then, four, younger children appeared. (Y/N) didn't know that this many kids lived across the street from her. She'd met Katie before, but that was about it.
"(Y/N), this is Daniel, Alice, and Benjamin. You already know Katie from before," John began with the introductions as the kids all filed in around the table, sending the lady still standing at the counter smiles. "Kids, this is (Y/N). She lives across the street and is helping dad with dinner today," he then explained why (Y/N) was even there.
"Hello. It's so nice to meet you all," (Y/N) smiled politely at the table of children. There were no objections to (Y/N) being there or making dinner, which made her happy.
She made quick work of taking the pot off of the stove and then started transferring it into separate bowls for each person at the table. To her surprise, the two oldest kids: Katie and Daniel, came over and helped with serving the food to the others sitting at the table. Once everyone had a bowl in front of their chair, (Y/N) took a seat directly across from John, who was smiling widely at her. She smiled back before her eyes focused on the food in front of her. The entire table started eating then, and the kids were immediately singing their praises for the soup (Y/N) had made. They even went as far as to tell her that she needed to come over every night and cook for them because their daddy was terrible compared to her. The best part about it was that John didn't disagree with them.
“Ok, kids...why don’t you head up to bed now? It’s getting late,” John stated after the group had been chatting at the table for some time. He had to give a stern look to Katie, who was trying to protest his decision by telling him that they weren’t tired yet. Little Alice, who was practically asleep at this point, didn’t help her sister’s case. So with a huff, Katie hopped off of the chair and dragged her feet to the stairs, the rest of her siblings following behind after they said goodnight to their father and to (Y/N).
“So, honest truth...” (Y/N) trailed off once it was just the two of them in the room, “what did you think of the soup?” she asked as she leaned forward slightly.
“I thought it was very good,” John sent her a grin as he nodded his head, “much better than the shit that I cook up.” (Y/N) couldn’t help but giggle at his statement.
Then she tried something bold. “Maybe you could come over to my place for dinner sometime...just you and I,” she suggested, hoping that John would catch the glint in her eye as she locked them with his.
A slight expression of shock formed on John’s face before it was quickly replaced by intrigue. He didn’t expect her to offer up something like that. “It depends...will you be cooking another meal like this one?” he asked, his question sounding as if he was trying to wager out the deal.
“Of course I would be,” (Y/N) smiled. She held that expression before dropping it slightly. “You’d just better not come to my house with cuts and bruises on your face,” she wagered her side of the deal, trying, and failing to hold a straight face as she spoke. It melted back into a smile halfway through the sentence.
“I’ll make sure not to get into any fights before I show up,” he told her, the grin on his face making her roll her eyes and shake her head. She couldn’t help but smile at his words. “It’s a date then?” he checked with her a few moments later.
“Yes, it’s a date...I guess,” she just about stuttered out, his choice of words catching her off guard.
“It’s a date,” John affirmed, sending her one last smile.
(Y/N) never expected this course of events to happen when she heard him screaming outside just a few hours earlier. What started as her trying to offer a helping hand to a person who looked to be worse for wear, ended as a chance for her to get to know John better. It’s amazing what some good comfort food can do.

Sins & Amends Chapter 48
Tumblr media
Billy Russo x Female Reader (60 part story)
This follows pre- the punisher into the storyline of daredevil, punisher season 1 and beyond
This is NOT Canon Billy. This is decent human being Billy left with bad options over worse decisions
This was also posted to A03 under: WaywardGaPeach. That account and this one is the only place you'll see me post this. If you see it on any other platform/account know it's not me.
Chapter Summary/Warnings: You work up the nerve to invite Billy to your weekly dinner
You let nearly a month go by before you worked up the nerve to ask Billy if he'd like to join all of you for the weekly get together. It'd be at your place so having the home field advantage was even better.
You would get off shift at four, Sarah would drop Adi off around five then everyone would start showing up around six. You'd texted Billy that morning to ask if he wanted to join all of you and he'd texted back "Extra time with Adi and actually getting to see you for over five minutes? Of course" you had simply texted back "see you then"
--------------------
"Jesus Christ I'm done man" you groaned flopping down on the bench next to Alice who let out a laugh at your dramatics "Is wonder woman throwing in the towel?" She asked knocking her shoulder against yours.
You cut your eyes at her and stuck your tongue out "Two heart attacks, a stabbing with a combative patient and his buddies and two wrecks. Yeah for now I'm throwing it" she laughed and stood to gather her gear out her locker "Isn't Billy joining the weekly get together?"
You nodded and grinned at her "Are you sure you and Kenzie can't come?" She shook her head with a sympathetic smile "Sorry babe. Her mom's in town so we're taking her out" "Fair enough. You're literally my only friend with parents or even in laws so that's a legitimate reason"
You stood to gather your own gear and throw it into your go bag. "Want a ride?" She asked after checking her phone to see Kenzie was waiting. You nodded "Yeah sounds good"
--------------------
You waved to Kenzie and Alice as they pulled away from the curb then headed inside. You had enough time to throw your uniforms in the washer and grab a shower before Sarah would be there with Adi.
Once you got out of the shower you dressed in a pair of jeans that were old and soft to the touch along with a sweater that was even softer. You left your hair down but pulled a tie around your wrist so if you needed to pull it up before the night was over.
You walked into the living room and noticed the time right before there was a knock on the door. You could hear Adi and David talking before you ever got to the door. When you opened it they were still jabbering. "Well hello David" he scrunched up his nose and said "It's still weird when you call me that"
Adi was practically climbing up your leg so you scooped her up and asked her "Did you have fun today baby?" She nodded "Aunt Sarah took me to  park" "That's good baby" you looked back at David and asked "Are you sure you can't join us?" He hugged Adi then said "We got our own night. Leo and Zach took a note from aunt Y/N and have since demanded at least one night a week we all eat out"
"Glad I can be of some use as an aunt"  you said with a grin. He smiled at you then told Adi "Bye sweetie. I'll see you later" "Bye unkie David"
The two of you watched until he got to the elevator then stepped back in your apartment.
She wiggled out your arms and headed for her room so you walked into the kitchen to call for enough Vietnamese food to feed the army you had coming over making certain to order double of Frank's favorite since it was also Billy's favorite then grabbed a bottle of water and walked into the living room.
Adi came back around the corner and grinned at you "Bath time?" You checked the time to see you had about half an hour before the food or anyone would arrive so you nodded "Yup. Elsa PJs or mermaids?" "Elsa!" She giggled and ran for your bathroom.
----------------------
Adi was running around with her Elsa cape flapping behind her gown and Coco tucked under her arm when you got a text from Karen saying her and Frank was headed up.
The food had just arrived so you were currently laying it out on the counter along with some plates so everyone could just grab what they wanted. You had just laid the last tray out when you heard a knock at the door followed by Frank sticking his head in "Where's my niece?"
Adi came sliding around the corner and jumped into his outstretched arms "Unkie Frank!" Karen walked in behind him followed by Curtis and Billy.
You froze when your eyes met Billy's and he smiled "Thanks for inviting me" you finally made yourself tear your eyes away from his face and said "Of course Billy" Adi by then had noticed daddy was in the apartment so she jumped straight from Frank's arms to his "Daddy!"
Curtis winked at you on his way to the kitchen "Hey if Murdock and Nelson aren't here by six twenty they forfeit their food right?" You laughed and said "you know the rules Curt. Everyone gets a half hour to be late before food gets forfeited" you turned back to Adi and said "little miss your chicken nuggets and mac and cheese is ready so why don't you get daddy to direct you to your highchair?"
Billy smiled "Ok little bit you heard mommy. Chow time" he passed you and when your eyes met you felt your cheeks try to warm but was able to shove it down by the distraction of Foggy and Matt coming in the door when Karen opened it for them.
Foggy held out a bottle of wine "Present from Marci. She's covering a big case so she couldn't come" you took the wine and looked it over approvingly "Gotta love a woman that always sends someone in her place if she can't make an event"
You kissed his cheek then Matt's "Glad you two could come" you motioned around the room before adding "You both know everyone here. Hell Frank and Billy you represent"
-------------
You had your hand on Matt's elbow while he spoke to everyone then headed in the kitchen where Adi was in her highchair "Where's my favorite girl?" He asked with a grin at the doorway so Adi slapped her hands on the highchair tray "Matty!" He headed over to her and felt her forehead then kissed it gently "There she is"
You watched the two of them with a smile then glanced back towards Billy in enough time to see he was watching you.
There was a look in his eyes that you couldn't quite place. He looked almost pained. You took a step towards him and tentatively put your hand on his arm "You ok?" He smiled but it didn't reach his eyes the way a genuine one usually did "Yeah I'm good"
You were used to feeling tension in the air whenever Billy and Frank were in the same room and had resigned yourself to it being there for a while but with the way Billy was acting there was some other type of tension you couldn't put your thumb on.
You barely glanced at Curtis but that was enough for him to get the point so he clapped his hands together and said "Well Adi I don't know about the other grownups but uncle Curt's about to join you in eating" and headed for the kitchen. Frank chuckled and fell in step behind him and that seemed to shift a little of the energy in the room.
-----------
Billy watched as you moved around the kitchen handing plates to everyone and telling Matt what was what. Your hair was falling around your face and he had the strongest urge to push it back over your shoulder but knew he didn't have the right to touch you so casually anymore.
Honestly he didn't know what the hell he was doing here. From what Karen had told him all of you normally got together at least once a week at someone's apartment for food and to catch up on everyone's lives. You'd apparently started it while he was in the hospital recovering. It was a part of your life he'd never been involved in until tonight and part of him felt like an outsider looking in.
He liked Murdock. He was a damn good lawyer and a decent guy but seeing him here interacting so smoothly with Adi and laughing at something you'd said about one of the dishes he had the biggest urge to knock the glasses off his face. Not like it'd be the same as hitting an ordinary blind person right? Not with Murdock's other gig.
He didn't want to exactly bring up to you that his memory had healed to the point of remembering some things about you and Murdock but the longer he watched you touch Matt's back or arm as everyone moved around your kitchen the more the memories as scattered as they were, started flipping through his head.
-----------
You helped Matt get his plate fixed then moved to get your own. Frank was already sitting on the couch flipping through channels on your tv while Foggy gave input on each option and Karen had taken up your recliner. Matt sat at the table across from Curtis so only you and Billy were left at your impromptu buffet spread across the counter.
"I got your favorite" you said with a smile and saw he already had some on his plate "Frank's favorite too" he said and you heard a hitch in his voice that you did recognise. Even after everything you knew Billy well enough to know when something was bothering him.
You moved behind him to grab your glass of wine and rested your hand on his lower back without thinking anything of it until he tensed under your hand. You quickly moved it and uttered an apology hoping no one had noticed what you'd done but before you could move he laid his hand on your arm and smiled that smile that made your knees weak "I just wasn't expecting it" you nodded not trusting your voice.
"Mommy all done!" Adi called out so you turned your attention to her and saw Curtis was looking between you and Billy who dropped your arm and walked into the living room "Alright baby but don't dive onto the couch everyone is eating" you warned before sitting your plate down so you could get her out the high chair.
Billy was sitting between Frank and Foggy trying to pay attention to the game Frank had clicked on. It almost felt like old times with Frank hollering at the refs call. When Adi walked over and pointed to the spot between them both men quickly scooted to give her room.
You were eating standing between the kitchen and living room so you could talk to everyone. He'd seen you and Maria both eat while you made rounds at welcome back cook outs so that wasn't a surprise you still had that habit.
----------------
Foggy and Matt were the first two to have to leave. They had court first thing in the morning so you walked them to your door. You hugged Foggy first and said "Glad you could come. Thank Marci for the wine and tell her she was missed"
"Will do" he said with a smile so you reached to hug Matt who smiled when you said "and glad you could come too" his attention was over your shoulder and you started to ask him what he was hearing but Frank cleared his throat and said in a low voice "Mama we got one down"
You turned around to see Adi who'd just been trying to teach Billy Disney songs was now laid over on his chest fast asleep. "Well in that case I'll see you too later" you said with a smile.
Karen stood at the door until they got to the elevator so you walked over to where Billy sat with her fast asleep on him. After a moment you shrugged "Billy you wanna carry her to her room so we don't risk waking her?"
He nodded and held her closer to get to his feet then followed you into her room. You moved Coco to the corner of her crib then stepped to the side so Billy could lay her down. He ran a hand across her belly and whispered "Daddy loves you Adi" it warmed your heart every time you got to see the two of them together.
---------------
You must have been staring because when he looked up a smirk slipped onto his face "What are you smiling at Y/N?" You shrugged "Our daughter" he glanced back at her sleeping form and nodded "Yeah she's something"
You laid your hand over his that was on the side of the crib and half expected him to jump or pull away but he just turned slowly to look you in the eyes. "Billy you know if anything is bothering you I'm always here to talk..no matter when" his gaze flickered from your hand to your face before he nodded "I know"
In that moment it felt so close to what your heart wanted but you refused to acknowledge out loud. You wanted this. You, Adi and Billy living under the same roof. The two of you putting her to bed together. You knew you couldn't have it.
For one you'd risk your relationship with Frank. The two of you co parenting was one thing but you didn't know how he'd handle you and Billy actually giving it another try. There was still a lot of bad between them. Not to mention you really hadn't spoken to Billy one on one any. You really had no idea what he wanted.
Billy turned closer to you like he was about to say something but Curtis stepped to the door about that time "Um Y/N Where's your trash bags" you saw Billy's shoulders sag and knew he had been about to say something so you glanced at Curtis "Second drawer next to the sink" "Thanks"
Once he walked away you'd hoped Billy would continue but he raised your hands up to his lips and left a feather light kiss on it. "You're an amazing woman and mom Y/N. I'm lucky to have you in my life in any way. Just wanted to say that" then dropped your hand gently and walked out Adi's room to head back to the living room.

doxxing her entirely under the cut
I have either outright stated or hinted at I think all of this at some point or another but 👉👈 I miss her and God knows how much of this will change for any other setting she worms her way to
Ava was supposed to be named Chava, after her aunt (Emir and Kerem's younger sister) who died young (probably also from CIP)— Deirdre changed if at the last minute.
Deirdre constantly pronounces her name wrong— but so does Kerem in the end, because he's still putting a ghost in her face.
(Ava is the spitting image of Chava— this bit was admittedly from writing backwards, but became a 'haha wouldn't it be fucked up if—' that worked so perfectly with everything else it quite literally wrote itself, same as people constantly telling her she looks familiar at the grocery store or whatever. Looking at her and seeing a ghost... it was fun to lean into!).
This is also ultimately why her parenting was so lax from baba and amca— in a way they had their baby sister again, and were ultimately convinced Ava would die young just as she had— so a lot of it was. "Well shower her in the love and care we regret not giving more of to Chava." In a fucked up way kinda a second chance. Is it obvious yet that I'm obsessed with replacement goldfish syndrome / people forcibly perpetuating cycles mashed together with severe identity issues. Like can you see it. Anyways.
Not believing in unconditional love etc etc blah blah we all know that bit.
Emir died when she was 14, the same year Kerem left to return to Turkey and her brother just started college; this led to a marked increase in Deirdre's need for control and made Ava's life hell for the last years she stayed. (Parental abuse cw: towards the end it was being stripped by Deirdre the second she walked through the door to be checked for injuries— any bruise or scrape was a sign she wasn't trying hard enough, you want them to take you away from me, you don't love me, you'll never understand the pain I'm in— none of this is New but when Deirdre felt so out of control with the rest of her life it got much much worse).
"Why did Kerem leave?" His brother was dead and he couldn't pretend everything was okay anymore. Ava became a reflection of both his lost siblings. Men will literally abandon their niece, guiltily bring their cut of their dead brother's life insurance policy back home to take care of the rest of their family, and live in guilt that they try desperately to ignore every single day instead of going to therapy.
"How did Emir die?" I've thrown around a couple ideas for this but ultimately the answer doesn't really matter as much as the fact it happened.
Ava ran away at 16 bounced around a few years different cities different jobs ended up falling in with Yamba surf co. (at that time just a bunch of idiot surfers without a co-op in Brisbane) when she had a brief stint in professional surfing, which is how her brother found her & confronted her & she ultimately beat the shit out of him. Salem wisely asked no questions and simply extended an offer for her to move down the coast with them to Yamba so he could take care of his grandmother. (The others joined them shortly after.)
What else. What else. I feel like that's about it. She settled in Yamba and taught tourists how to surf and volunteered at a dog kennel and ate dinner at Salem's grandmother's house every Sunday.
(Note: if you notice it switched from Salim to Salem that's because in my initial research I swear to fuck it said Salim was the more common Anglicization but then I saw Salem on our work schedule and when I checked again saw a consensus on 'Salem' instead so now I'm sticking with Salem ig).
Salem nearly killed her during a diving trip they went on together (forgot to switch one of her tanks while they were talking and she flustered him) which is when they first moved into her apartment to make sure she didn't die & found out about her CIP and then he simply never fucking left. They're both fucking fiends for HSPs.

the episode "the fugitive" from The Twilight Zone is absolutely bonkers fucking insane and like not in a good way
TW for stranger danger and abelism
okay so like I get it was "a different time" or whatever and a YouTube comment or two said that this was reminiscent of a nice cute wholesome fairytale story from when they were young or whatever...
BUT
it's got some suuuuper creepy stranger danger (and with it SA) subtext
oh my got whatttt
so like this grOWN ADULT MAN (over 1000 years????? and also he looks 50ish in human years???) is friends with these TINY LITTLE CHILDREN can't be more than what 11?
and this grown adult man lives in the same apartment as this kid, Jenny, so it's not that weird that they're friends but like. idk it rubs me the wrong way (...because of the rest of what happens)
so like there are these policemen that come and ask Jenny's aunt about Ben, the grown adult man friend, and Jenny r a c e s out of the apartment (she's also grounded) up to Ben's apartment (? unsure if it's really an apartment; it's just one room)
so she goes up to Ben's apartment/bedroom (! >:|) and they have a conversation about how HE IS A FUGITIVE
and THEN when the police come knocking on Ben's door, he transforms into a mouse and she picks him up in hides him (in her hand)
she then takes him to hER BEDROOM and they have another conversation about how he's a criminal and that he has to leave before the police catch him! and she's just like. alright then adult man, I trust you (*^-^)b
(ʘ̥_ ʘ̥)
other context: Jenny has a lame leg. previously she was asking him why he didn't heal it if he had these other magic powers (transformation into "horrible" monsters to play with the several park children he played with)
he says he didn't because that would give [the space police] his location, and now it's okay because he has to leave and find a different planet to hide out on
hhhhhh I do not particularly want to describe the events around him healing her leg. but I will because I want someone to share my pain jeSUS
okay. so. he takes off her socks n shoes and brace. cut to the aunt making dinner. from outside Jenny's bedroom, she hears Jenny go "Will it hurt? Be careful!" .ʕʘ‿ʘʔ.
I'm just leaving it at that because the SA implications are already enough for meeeee
so MOVING ON.
so he heals her leg, turns into a fly, and escapes out her window.
Jenny once again races outside the apartment (this time without her leg brace! /derogatory) she runs right into the two cops who KNOCK HER UNCONSCIOUS AND LEAVE HER FOR DEAD
literally. the aunt calls a doctor and he like checks her heart and her legs and then goes "whelp. this is beyond my expertise, her pulse is slowing, and I'm just gonna go. not call my colleagues and get her more professional help. just. leave"
after that EXTREMELY unprofessional man leaves, old man comes back in fly form and heals her. Jenny is overjoyed that old man came back, and then the two police guys are right behind them.
but nOPE turns out they're not police guys and Creepy Old Man is, in fact, a King. of an entire planet, presumably. and the "space police" are his subjects trying to get him back because he was a. good ruler.
they say they were okay hurting Jenny because they "knew [Creepy Old Man] would come back to heal her" or whatever
like,,,,what if he didn't? Were they just gonna be. okay. with leaving this little girl for dead? Because it sounds a lot like they were okay with just leaving this girl for dead, to me
I don't think this is even the worst part.
because he abducts her
he asks the subjects to "leave the room for one minute so I can talk to Jenny"
so then he turns into Jenny. and when they come back, one says, "[they'll]" have to take both of [the "Jennys"]" now the other one talks, "because the council wouldn't like it if [they] brought back the wrong one"
SO THEY TAKE BOTH OF THEM
and okay sure she eventually grows up to be "an honest to goodness queen" but like oKaY???
Jenny still spoke to Creepy Old Man and brought him into her room when she thought he was a fugitive!!!!!!!
I have no substantial thoughts besides "what the fuck" for this episode because I am too tired (physically and emotionally) to dissect the meat and potatoes of how fucked up this episode is

....
Norman Osborn was starting to get really impatient for his Thanksgiving dinner.
He had specifically come to his son and the Parker’s shared apartment specifically so that he could eat immediately.
Everyone sat at the table with happy expressions on their faces while Norman had a disgruntled one instead.
Trying to take his mind off of his growling stomach, he turned to Harry’s friend Mary Jane asking her about her profession.
She talked animatedly about how she was working at a diner but was hoping to become an actress.
As she spoke, Norman started to get more and more agitated.
Running a hand through his auburn hair he stared at Aunt May who was chuckling at something her nephew said.
“Oh Peter!” she said, playfully slapping him on the shoulder.
Their patience made him upset.
“Are we going to eat soon? Because if not then I actually have something after this and I should get going,” Norman’s voice was laced with annoyance which made his son quirk an eyebrow at his behavior.
Peter and Mary Jane exchanged a confused look with one another while Aunt May smiled.
“We’re waiting for Y/N but in the meantime, I’ll start sawing the turkey,” the old woman said as she scooted out of her seat and started towards the kitchen.
Y/N.
Norman didn’t even know who this person was. Or why he had to wait for them. No, it should be the other way around he was Norman Osborn, people were supposed to be waiting on him.
Suddenly the front door burst open and there you were.
You were bundled up in a large coat and a knit beanie covered your head. You carried a large tupperware full of some food that Norman couldn’t see.
“Hi, guys sorry I’m late. The mac and cheese was causing me a lot of trouble for no reason,” you said, your voice was wavery due to the cold.
“Y/N!” Mary Jane grinned as she walked over to you and embraced you.
“You’re so warm,” you mumbled into her neck as she giggled.
Norman regarded you with curiosity as his son, Aunt May, and Peter both walked up to you and gave you hugs.
You were extremely friendly.
“Here you are, Aunt May. My famous mac and cheese,” you handed her the tupperware as she took it and immediately started pouring out the cheesy pasta out onto a plate.
Maybe you coming was worth it after all Norman thought as he stared at the cheesy goodness with hunger.
You walked over to Harry’s father with a large smile on your face.
You had been anxiously waiting to meet Norman since you were a huge fan of his work and had written multiple papers about him and his work.
“Hi, Mr. Osborn it’s really nice to meet you, sorry for being late. Harry told me how prompt and early you always are,” you offered him a hand which he shook after a moment.
Norman’s initial anger at your tardiness subsided because of your sweet disposition.
Two seconds earlier you had been so confident and loud with everyone else and now you were shy.
“It’s quite alright my dear it’s quite a mess out there because of the snow,” Norman smiled as you relaxed.
“Tell me about it. I literally almost ran someone over,” you rolled your eyes as Norman let out a genuine laugh.
Aunt May breezed by the table and placed the now cut turkey and the rest of the steaming meals onto the table.
Norman licked his lips at the sight of the food.
“Looks like someone’s hungry,” you smirked as everyone laughed.
“Well yes I mean we were all waiting on you so,” Norman replied back with an amused look plastered on his face making your jaw drop.
“He got you there, Y/N,” Peter let out a loud laugh at your dispense.
“Ouch that hurt,” you mocked as you placed a hand over your heart.
Norman shook his head lightly as he took some of your mac and cheese and put it on his plate.
“Do a little taste test,” you urged him as you spooned some mashed potatoes into your mouth.
Giving you a wary glance, the older man stabbed his fork at the pasta and ate it.
The mac and cheese immediately melted in his mouth as he wanted to take another bite desperately but wanted to tease you.
“So what do you think?” you asked cocking your head to the side.
“It’s awful,” Norman said as the rest of the table looked at him with narrowed eyes.
“Are sure we’re eating the same mac and cheese because the one I’m eating is delicious,” Harry gave his father a certain glance as if he were crazy.
“I’m kidding, Harry, it’s very good Y/N,” Norman offered you a polite smile before digging into the nicely cut turkey.
“I know,” you boasted, a smirk playing at your lips as you spooned stuffing in your mouth.
“Then why did you ask?” he questioned.
“Because I needed an ego booster,”
“Y/N I think your ego is already so high it doesn’t need to boosted anymore,” Mary Jane teased as you shrugged your shoulders.
“Probably true but I can get what I can get,”
“That’s a little sad, Y/N,” Aunt May quipped with a little chuckle making your jaw drop.
“Not you too,” you groaned as you covered your face with your hands and pretended to cry.
“So dramatic,” Harry rolled his eyes.
“And for good reason!” you replied.
“Aren’t you glad you had a bit of patience and waited for Y/N here, dad?” Harry asked his father, his dark eyebrows raised.
You were interested to hear his answer and gave him an innocent look.
“I guess,” Norman shrugged his shoulders as you offered him a wounded look in turn.
“I’m kidding I’m very happy that I got to meet you,” he said as you reached over the table to give him a hug.
“Aw I knew you’d warm up to me, old man,” you patted him on the back as his eyes widened and he leaned in close to your ear, his warm breath fanning it.
Chills went down your spine.
“You call me old man again and I’ll show you how old I can be in bed,” he growled.
“Oh shit,” you mumbled, a bubbly feeling rising in your system as you went back to your seat.
Now you really wanted to call him an old man.

Peter and I have been through a lot together. We’ve been friends since before news leaked about me being Tony’s daughter, and Peter stuck by me the whole time. Then Peter had gotten bitten and he told me he could now do these crazy thing that he couldn’t do before, so I told my dad. And then they fought in a ‘war’ together.
Anyways, the summer after 8th grade, was when I had realized I liked girls and boys. Like really fully came out to Peter and my dad. Peter was excited because now “he could give me advice about girls”, but we all know Peter has no game.
We were now in out Sophomore year of high school, and I was more open about my sexuality.
The first time I said something about May being hot was when it was game night. I had convinced my dad to hang out with the Avengers upstairs so I could invite some friends over and play some games. Peter helped set up some food bowls. Ned showed up on time with a few 2-liters and we all hung out until Mj finally showed up.
“Hey losers.” She said walking into the room where everything was set up.
“Let me guess, you got caught up in a book?” I asked. She rolled her eyes and we played a few games. Then Ned and I made a bunch of different cards with different people and things on them, then put them in Ned's hat.
It was Ned and I, and Peter and Mj. And that’s when it happened the first time.
“Okay this one’s really simple” Ned said, putting the card in his pocket.
“oh, uhm, water?” I ask.
“No, no, no, hot.” Ned replies.
“Lava?”
“No no no, think hotter.”
“Oh, OH! Peter’s aunt!” I yell out.
“Oh my god, ew.” Peter says, as he scrunches his face.
“Yes! Correct.” Ned yells back.
“Wait what the hell!” Peter exclaims.While Mj is trying to suppress her laughs.
〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰
There had been a few comments here and there about Aunt May being hot. Nothing too big, until the second memorable time.
Peter and Ned were sitting on my bed, and Mj was in a huge bean bag chair in the corner of the room. Ned and Peter were watching Star Wars and Mj was reading, I was grabbing my stuff to take a shower.
“I’m gonna go take a shower, I’ll be back in a few minutes” I say, grabbing my towel off the hook.
“Yeah yeah,” Mj starts, not looking up from her book. “We’ll see you in an hour and a half.”
“Want some company?” Peter smirks. I smirk back and respond,
“Yeah actually, do you want to call May? Ugh what I would do to see her-” I start, but I'm quickly cut off by Peter.
“Okayokayokay I get it. I’m sorry. Enjoy your shower.” Peter tightly closes his eyes and raises his hands up to surrender. I let out a short laugh while Mj and Ned try to catch their breath from the laughter.
〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰
This time wasn’t exactly me calling May hot, but I think it works.
Let me lay it out, Peter and I were sitting at the kitchen table with everyone. Everyone being Nat, Dad, Pepper, Thor, Steve, Bucky, Sam, Wanda, and Vision.
“I have a question y/n.” Nat says, I look up from my dinner, (chicken alfredo yum).
“What’s up?” I ask Nat.
“How did you know you liked girls? You’ve been out for almost 3 years and never told us what made you realize.” Nat says, everyone looks at me, and I put on my best shit-eating grin.
“Ah yes. I’ve been waiting for this question for so long.” I rub my hands together and get a few odd looks from Sam and Bucky.
“oh this is gonna be good.” Wanda comments
“I remember it like it was yesterday. It was the summer after 8th grade. Peter and I were hanging out in his room, when May walks in,-” I start.
“Oh no.” Peter mumbles.
“-she asks Peter and I if we want to go swimming. We agree, because it was hotter than balls outside. When we get to May’s friends house we change into bathing suits. Peter and I went outside before May and her friend did, because they were talking. A few minutes later May walks out in a bikini and I think to myself “Oh my god. I am 98% gay” and yeah, that's basically it.” Some let out a few laughs, until steve speaks up.
“98%? Why not 100%?” He asks.
“That 2% is saved for my two favorite mass murderers.” I respond.
“Y/n, for the last time. You are 16. I am 106, I’m 90 years older than you.” Bucky says.
“Yeah, but you were frozen when you were 28. And you’ve been unfrozen for 5 years. So technically, you’re 32. And I’ll be 17 next month.” I respond. Bucky pinches the bridge of his nose.
“Okay, I just want to say no. I don’t approve.” Tony inserts.
“Wait whos the other?” Wanda asks.
“My favorite black haired guys from Asgard.” Tony rolls his eyes.
“My brother? Lady y/n, you do know that Loki is 1,054, correct?” Thor says to me.
“Phew, that’s 65x our age.” Peter says.
“What is with you and old guys?!” Sam exclaims.
“Hey watch it.” Bucky glares.
“Next you’re gonna say you like Steve.” Sam continues.
“Capsicle? Oh hell no.” I say shaking my head. My dad lets out a loud laugh at my reaction.
“What? I take personal offense to that. What does Bucky have that I don’t?” Steve crosses his arms over his chest.
“You’re a blonde. I think that speaks for itself. Plus you’re a Cancer, and that makes it even worse.” I say shrugging.
“Don’t bring my zodiac sign into this.” Steve protests.
“Okay Steven.”
〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰
Early into Junior year, it was officially my 17th birthday. My dad and Pepper were throwing a small party as per my request. I didn't want a hage party, just the Avengers, and some close friends. I was especially excited when Thor entered with Loki.
After we opened presents I thanked everyone and it was time to sing Happy Birthday. Everyone sang (or if you're Bucky you talked at a louder volume). After they finished, I blew out the candles and made a wish.
"Okay y/n, what did you wish for? Maybe I can make it happen." Tony says ruffling up my hair.
"Oh you can't make this one happen dad. This one, will happen.....naturally." I put a coy smile on my face and look over to Loki, then Bucky, then Peter. Peter gives me a confused smile then I look behind him to Aunt May.
"Oh no y/n, you didn't wish what I think you wished for right?" Peter pleas.
"You'll never know Parker." I say smugly.
"Okay, Ms. Wanda, you know I would never ask this any other time, but what is she thinking? What did she wish for." Peter turns to Wanda, I give her begging eyes,
"Well, this is what happens when you eat the last Oreo," Wanda concentrates, and I try to think of anything else. "She wished to become Peters new aunt by marriage..?" She says hesitantly.
"Y/n we're still on this?" Peter asks.
"What are we still on? I'm not following." May insert's,
"Y/n is in love with you, and it's weird." My jaw drops.
This bitch.
the audacity
"You asshole, you know what. Why don't we call up your little crush Peter. Weren't you gushing about how pretty she is when she-" I start, but Peter cuts me off.
"At least she's our AGE."
"WOW PETER. I KNOW we aren't going there. Mr Mommy issues. Weren't you like in love with Nat when I introduced you?"
"OHHH OKAY. So we're bringing up stuff from freshman year huh, let's not forget Sophomore year, when you hooked up with-" I quickly cut Peter off.
"WaitWaitWait! Hold it there buddy, parents in ear shot.... truce..?" I hold out my hand for Peter to shake.
"Truce." He put out his hand, and I snatch it away so he can't shake my hand. Then quickly say,
"At least my ex crushes dad wasn't a bad guy and tried to kill me." Then I grab Peters and shake it. Peter drops his jaw.
"Oh, so a girl I used to like has a villain dad. WHO CARES, you're in love with two mass murderers. See left side of the room." We look over to Loki and Bucky, who are over at the snack table, on the left side of the room.
"Oh yeahh... about that. I am now 17...." I look over to Bucky and we make eye contact. "James Buchanan Barnesssss" I say all cheery.
"Y/N! NO!"

-> Christmas at the O’Neills household. Or in which Rue and Ash have a debate who’s the favorite auntie/uncle. Fez and Lexi try to tame the chaos.
Read on Ao3 or under the cut:
/////
Beyond her control, every Christmas Lexi naturally remembers the first conversation she and Fez had shared on a stranger’s couch at a stranger’s house.
It wasn’t the beginning, because they’d known each other formerly, but it was the catalyst. A gratitude-filled spark plug in their relationship.
Celebrating Christmas wasn’t foreign by any means, because her mom was biased on having one every year. Her mom’s enthusiasm and determination to have a good family time made up for her own lack of care about Christmas just enough to grant her excitement for hot cocoa and movie nights. Maybe it was just her mom's way of keeping tradition even after their dad left. To keep hope and comfort. To keep an anchor.
If you asked her what old Christmas was like, Lexi wouldn’t deliver an incandescent answer. Now, however..
Christmas was in Fez. Fez waking up early despite the winter glistening wind to stack the chicken houses with hay for warmth, feed the sheep and cattle milk and brush the horse’s coarse hair coats. Tree shopping for the perfect tree for hours on end, buying dopey matching, itchy sweaters just for the fun of it. Now, Fez was the centerpiece of Christmas. Of Lexi herself.
Christmas was Faye and Ash clearing their schedules (Ash with college, Faye with work at the shelter home) to visit the farm house. Rue comes around too, ensuing chaos swiftly as she does.
Although Lexi didn’t mind the shenanigans. It was chaos. But it was her chaos. Her family.
The same family in which had a new addition to Them. A lovely little bundle of freckled dotted cheeks, and chocolate curls. A bundle that was as of right now tugging at Lexi’s hair.
“Mommy! Mommy! It’s Christmas! Get up or Santa will get upset!” Ashlee, her beautiful daughter says, voice haltering slightly with each jump she jumped on the mattress.
Lexi opened one eye, the light emitting through the lace curtain wasn’t harsh, but it was enough to make her flinch lightly and blink a few times, hiding her face. “I’m up, I’m up.” She mumbled into the pillow.
Her hand instinctively went to the empty side of the bed closest to the door. “Where’s daddy?” She asks Ashlee, who now curled into Lexi’s chest and wrapped her small legs around her hips.
“In the kitchen. Making pancakes with Auntie Faye.” Lexi kisses the crown of her head tenderly.
“Let’s go say hi.” She goes to stand up, with Ashlee still clinging to her and they head to the kitchen.
The sight she sees never fails to warm her. Like sun rays after harsh wind. Fez flipping pancakes in his pjs so attentively. Putting all his love in a simple breakfast for his family. A small gesture of “I love you so.”
He noticed she was there, the moment he turned around his face lit up, like always. “Morning baby,” he abandons the pan in favor of giving Lexi a forehead kiss. “C’mere, angel.” He says, giving Ashlee a kiss on her cheek, earning a happy giggle from the three year old.
“Fez we’re literally starving.” Rue calls out from her seat at the dinner table with a still sleepy Ash.
“Instead of complainin’, how ‘bout you two actually help?”
“It’s blueberry pancakes,” Ash frowns. “How fuckin’ hard can it be?”
“Jar.” Faye deadpans, pointing with a spatula to the jar on the kitchen counter. “Swear is a no-no.” Ash unwillingly, with a scowl, put a 10 dollar pill in it.
“I don’t wanna brag but I’ve lived up to my “favorite aunt” title and got Ashy, the best gift of her life.” Rue says proudly.
Ash scoffs, “favorite? says who?”
“What’re you trying to say, dickwad?” Rue challenges.
“Rue- JAR!”
“We all know who Ashlee’s favorite is.” He explains.
“Me.” Rue and Ash speak at the same time.
“I don’t wike this.” Ashlee confesses to Lexi.
She pats her back, “Nobody chooses their family honey.”
——————
Every year rue or ash (always these two) would come up with new activities to try out. Last year was Secret Santa, which was horribly unplanned and the only people who got each other accurate, loving, normal gifts were Lexi and Fez. The others… let’s just say glitter bombs were banned from the O’nell household indefinitely.
This year however the try out was opening the gifts at midnight instead of first thing in the morning.
“So what do you guys say,” Lexi says, but her question is directed more towards Ashlee. “We open gifts at midnight or tomorrow morning?”
“I think in the morning,” Faye says. “It’s more fun!”
“Hell no!” Ash and Rue say in unison… again. Both are too eager to wait 8 hours of sleep to prove their point and flaunt their respective gifts to their niece.
“I want to open presents now!” Ashlee demands, scrunching her nose adorably, and Fez melts at the sight.
Lexi chuckles, “okay then, it’s decided.” She looked at the clock on the wall, “we open gifts in 20 minutes!”
“Ion even know why you’re botherin’ yourself idiot, I’m obviously her favorite.”
“Clownery!” Rue retorts. “Say you’re wrong now and avoid the embarrassment of being 100% wrong.”
“You’re talking?!” Ash throws his head back in a fit of laughter. “Bitch you’re the queen of embarrassment!”
“ASH. ONE MORE TIME AND I SWEAR.” Lexi warns. Ash gives a nervous cough. “You two have got to stop, seriously.”
“Not my fault Ash keeps being a fuc-“ Rue’s eyes trails to Lexi’s glaring ones. “Fudging coward.” She manages.
“I ain’t the one scared of Mrs. Nancy Drew.” He throws back. “No offense lex.”
“Ash, I swear to fu- Freakin’ god.” Fez says, equally scared.
“Who’s Nancy drew?” Faye asks.
“A suwper famous character in detectiwve novels that mommy likes!” Ashlee answers from her place on the couch.
“Ohhh.”
Everybody stopped and watched in amusement for a second.
“Am I the only one who feels like that question-answer should’ve been backwards.” Rue says, Ash nods in agreement.
Not long after ash and rue resumed.
“You don’t stand a chance!” Ash declares. “We both share the same name, she likes me better, it’s not up for debate.”
“Ugh, please!” Rue rolls her eyes, “I buy her all her favorite candy.”
“Oh yeah? Well she depends on me for assembling her Lego sets, ain’t that right, Ashy?”
“No! I shouldn’t depend on any boy!” Ashlee shakes her head.
“Who told you that?”
“Auntie Cassie.” She answers, “she told me I’m a strwong woman who don’t need no stupid boys!” Lexi gave a fond smile. She still can’t believe the progress Cassie has made, to the better, to the best. In a way she’s still the same, just accepted parts of herself that were pushed far back for stupid boys enjoyment.
“I ain’t no stupid boy, I’m your favorite uncle.”
“But you are a boy.”
“Fuckin’ Cassie.” Ash grits out.
“ASH!” Fez and Lexi yell.
“Just accept the L bro.” Rue smirks.
“Never.” Ash decides on, crossing his arms.
Just then the clock hits midnight and Ash and Rue scramble messily to retrieve their gifts from below the decorated tree, throwing them in-front of the three year old.
“Aight, stop.” Fez stops them from their little struggle of who gets their gift opened first. And settles Ashlee on his lap. “You choose which one you wanna open the first baby.”
Ash smirks smugly because Ashlee picked his box. Which was almost her size and wasn’t light either. Weirdly enough, it looked exactly like Rue’s own box. She tugs at the blue and pink wrapper with tiny hands, Fez offering some help, they finally get it open and lo and behold it’s a small three-wheel pink bike.
Fez starts sweating and Lexi glances at him, trying really hard not to laugh. This day was bound to happen anyway, might as well get it over with.
“A bike?!” Ashlee exclaims happily.
“Nah… nah..” Fez says in denial.
Lexi notices Rue is also sweating, her eyes gawky looking like she almost got hit by a bus. “Rue.. you okay?” Lexi asks, sniffling a giggle.
“Yeah..” rue trails. “Just uh- think we could just open my gift like tomorrow or something.”
“Who’s the coward now?!” Ash laughs.
“Rue it’s okay just open it.” Faye assures.
Then rue hesitatingly hands the box to Ashlee, who sits the bike aside and starts unwrapping the equally sized box.
Another three wheeled, but purple bike.
Ash isn’t laughing anymore. “What the fuck?”
Lexi laughs now, because she can’t hold it anymore, especially when she sees Fez’s eyes twitch slightly.
“Another bike!” Ashlee giggles. “If anything happens to this one I’ll have this one!” Fez groans.
“I’m still her favorite!”
“You don’t even have original ideas! You stole mine.”
“Did not!”
“Did to!”
“Okay you know what?” Lexi starts, “why don’t you just ask her?”
“Yeah, I didn’t think of that actually,” Ash and Rue nod. “Ashy, who’s your favorite? Be honest and don’t worry about hurting Aunt Rue’s feelings.”
“Or Uncle Ash’s.”
“You know what?-”
“Let her speak!”
A few seconds go by as everyone is waiting patiently (Minus Rue and Ash) for the long awaited answer.
“… Auntie Faye!”
“Awe!” Faye kissed her cheek from her place on the ground. “You’re my favorite too, kiddo.”
“Are you fucking kidding me?”
Lexi drowns out the pickering and turns to whisper to her husband, “you’re not letting her on those bikes, are you?”
“Fuck no,” He whispers back, “far as I’m concerned, them nightmares goin’ straight into the shed first thing in the mornin’”
Lexi shook her head, giggling at her husband's weird antics.
Before bed they made hot cocoa and watched movies, Ash and Rue still not giving up on their banter for a good movie night, instead chaotic arguments that landed nowhere near useful. By 2 am when they went to bed, the swear jar had a total of 40 bucks.
Lexi still didn’t mind, she wouldn’t trade this for anything. The contentment of it all came from the shenanigans that filled their home with laughter and warmth.
If you ask Lexi what Christmas was now. She’d have sparkles and glitter in her eyes explaining the newly developed habits and her love for her family.
****
Thank you @fixation4fexi for the lovely idea!!! I hope this matches what you had in mind! <3

Quality Family Time: Baby Jack ficlet
for the bah discord besties<3
In Dean's humble opinion, the week was off to a pretty good start. Sunday, he and Cas took Jack to the library and let him go wild in the children's section, then let him run off his "excitement about literature" in the park, ending with lunch at their favorite diner, which is Dean's humble opinion qualifies as a pretty great Sunday afternoon. And then Sammy and Eileen finished up their hunt earlier than expected, and they even brought back Claire and Kaia as a surprise. Meaning they got to all have a much-needed family dinner, movie night, and catch up with the girls. And they decided to stay for a few days, which meant extra babysitters, which really meant, he and Cas could have their date night this week. And of course it also meant Dean had a few days to just hang out with his family, watch some movies, watch his kids bond, run some stupid errands, cook some big meals.
Now it was Wednesday, and Dean was spending the day with Eileen and Jack, while the others opted to help Sam with the supply run. Eileen was getting a movie queued up for Jack's nap, while Dean got a start on some laundry.
(read the rest under the cut)
He was currently running out to the garage to grab the blanket he keeps folded in Baby's trunk, smiling fondly at the memory of Monday's date night.
So yeah as far as Wednesdays go, Dean was having a pretty good one.
At least, he was.
Dean's stomach dropped as he flicked the lights on, barely registering the clang of his keys hitting the floor, standing frozen in the doorway.
He's hallucinating, he must be. There's absolutely no way that-
He squeezed his eyes shut, counting to ten while he tried to will away the hallucination with his mind. But unfortunately for Dean, he didn't have that kind of mind power, because that thing was still sitting there when he opened his eyes.
Fuck.
Forcing his feet to move, Dean stepped further into the garage, reaching out a shaking hand as he inched forward.
He'll just touch it and his hand will go through it, and he can blame this hallucination on that questionable burger he ate at some local joint they all went to last night. It'll be fi-
Dean's blood turned to ice as his hand connected with cool metal. He quickly jumped back in shock, jaw hitting the floor.
Because last time he checked, Dean didn't leave an 18 foot long Lightning McQueen sitting in his beloved Baby's parking spot.
He tried to speak but all that came out was an incoherent squeak, as he raced around the car inspecting every inch of it.
He couldn't get any of the doors open or the hood for that matter, but as far as he could tell it seemed to be a real car, despite being a cartoon look-a-like.
Well, at least it wasn't talking.
"Ka-chow"
Dean slumped over onto the roof of the car, banging his head, fists following in defeat.
Because there was a Lightning McQueen look-a-like with a toy voice box, parked in the garage of their super top-secret underground Bunker, in place of one of his most prized possessions.
Maybe he spoke too soon about having a pretty good Wednesday.
Why is this happening? How did this thing get in here? Where is his Baby? Is she alright? Can he even get her back? How the hell did this ev-
Son of a bitch.
"Jack!" Dean called, voice coming out more strangled than he'd care to admit.
Of course. Cars had become Jack's new obsession over the past week, they first watched it on Friday night and he's insisted on watching it at least once a day ever since.
Dean groaned scrubbing his hands down his face. There's truly never a dull moment with a half-Nephilim toddler.
Jack probably didn't even realize what happened. Sometimes his powers react before his mind can catch up with them, like when he subconsciously made all of his toys come to life after Toy Story became his favorite movie. The kid probably didn't even know about the Cars wannabe parked in the garage, besides his kid would never tamper with Bab-
"Dee! You found Lightning!"
Dean's jaw once again found its way back down to the floor. His own kid.
He turned to see his four-year-old come bounding into the garage, practically bursting with joy.
"What the hell"
Dean tore his gaze away from Jack to see Eileen frozen in the doorway, who's jaw also joined Dean's on the floor.
"Look see it's just like Lightning, Dee!" Jack cheered as he ran over to check out the car, regaining Dean's attention.
"Uh...ye-yeah buddy. I-I can see that bu-" Dean began sounding pained, only to be cut off by Jack.
"It's a real car, Dee. You can drive it! And look I gots all the stickers on it too"
"Yeah kiddo, bu-"
"And it can talk too! It says all of Lightning's things! Do you like it Dee? Where you surprised?" Jack asked as he wrapped himself around Dean's legs, smiling up at him without a care in the world.
Dean still mostly in shock, glanced up at Eileen who looked to be in the same boat, except she was holding back barely contained laughter.
Great no help from his best friend, traitor. So Dean shakily knelt down placing his hands on Jack's shoulders.
"Listen, Squirt. I was definitely surprised. But yo-"
"Oh my god"
Dean's head jerked up to see Sam, Cas, Claire, and Kaia now standing with Eileen in the doorway, dropped grocery bags spilling out onto the floor. All of them too stunned to move, except for Cas who luckily must have noticed the distress in Dean's eyes.
"Jack, Baby. What is this?" Cas asked, quickly making his way over to them, quickly kneeling down beside Dean.
"I made Baby into Lightning! Ta da!"
"Wait, that thing is my Baby?" Dean asked voice cracking.
And of course, that's what did it.
Sam doubled over in laughter, Eileen, Claire, and Kaia quickly following, and Cas was beside him, clearly trying to conceal his laughter.
"God this is the best thing I've ever seen" Sam wheezed in the background, and if Dean weren't still reeling he'd walk right over and punch him.
Cas placed a grounding hand on Dean's shoulder, all while trying to bite back his smile. Well, Dean appreciated the gesture, at least he was trying to be considerate, unlike some people he knew.
"Bug, do you remember what Daddy and I told you about using your powers?" Cas begins, trying and failing to sound stern.
"That I can't make my toys be alive! And I didn't Baby isn't alive, and she's not even a toy!" Jack explains with a smile.
"Yea-yeah Squirt, but the second part of that little talk was that you shouldn't use your powers unless you ask Daddy, or me, or Uncle Sammy or Aunt Eileen, remember?" Dean supplied after he finally got his gears spinning again.
"Ooooohhh. Oops, sorry!"Jack shrugs and he even had half a mind to at least look a little bit sorry, but it's drowned out by another fresh wave of laughter.
"I'm so glad we decided to stay longer, does stuff like this happen all the time?" Kaia laughed behind him, as Claire wiped the tears from her eyes.
"Oh I'm so glad my distress is amusing to all of you!" Dean shot back, voice still a little unsteady, which only caused them to laugh harder. Cas met his eyes, as he squeezed his shoulder, scooting closer.
"Squirt it's okay, just uh don't do it again....now where exactly is the real Baby?" Dean asked cutting right to the chase, not missing the look Cas gave him for glossing over the whole "don't use your powers without asking" lesson.
But there was time for that later, because right now his Baby was currently a firetruck red cartoon racecar with eyes.
"That is Baby. I just made her look like that, it's her. See!" Jack explained jumping up and dragging Dean over. Everyone else followed suit, Sam giving him a shit eating grin as he handed Dean the discarded keys.
To Dean's surprise, the key unlocked the car just like baby, and the interior looked exactly the same.
"Wow kid, this is honestly pretty cool" Claire complimented with a low whistle, which earned her a death glare from Dean, only making her laugh harder.
Unbelievable. All of his kids have it out for his car today.
Dean heaved a sigh as he watched his family examine every inch of the car, not bothering to hold back their laughter at this point.
"Well, I guess it's a good thing we didn't watch How to Train Your Dragon" Cas quipped wrapping Dean in his arms as he pressed a quick kiss to his lips. Dean flopped over and laid his forehead on Cas's shoulder, letting a soft laugh escape.
"Yeah well, at least my car wouldn't have been caught in the crossfire" Dean groaned back, feeling Cas' laugh rumble in his chest.
"Yes I know this is a tragedy, clearly the real live dragons would have caused less damage-well less emotional damage anyway"
"Woah, look at that, he's got jokes. Alright everyone step away from the racecar" Dean smirked, yelling that last bit as he pushed away from Cas' chest. He made his way over to Jack who was currently in the driver's seat (keys nowhere near the ignition of course), showing everyone how the horn says McQueen catchphrases now.
"Alright Houdini, while the Lightning McQueen trick was very cool, and we've reminded you that we don't use powers unless we ask. It's time to turn him back into Baby, capiche?" Dean said in the most no-nonsense tone he could manage as he kneelt down to Jack's level.
And of course Dean's very logical, very simple, very warranted request resulted in an uproar from his family.
"Wait you aren't even gonna take it for a spin?"
"You've literally got thee Lightning McQueen sitting in your garage"
"Dean c'mon one dri-"
"Nope. Not happening. Now way am I driving that thing" Dean cut in, flinging his arms out for emphasis and effectively silencing the traitor-his family.
Then he felt a little tug on his shirt.
"Please Dee? One time, then I change Baby back?" Jack asked with his best puppy dog eyes, and Dean quickly made a mental note to kick Sam's ass for teaching him that.
And as he slowly tilted his head back up, he was met with four pleading faces, all hovering around the car He desperately turned his gaze towards Cas knowing he'd be the voice of reason, he'd neve-
"Well, it would be a waste not to take the car for at least one ride" Cas shrugged almost sheepishly, barely hiding his grin. Dean stared back into his eyes trying to will him to change his mind, but he knew it was pointless.
Dean sighed his defeat, running a hand down his face. Damnit
"Fine, one drive-and I mean one. Twenty minutes tops" He shouted, throwing his hands in air in exasperation as everyone cheered.
And when Dean found himself driving back to the bunker four hours later, he and failed tried to hid his smile. He glanced in the mirror at Claire and Jack passed out, while Kaia and Sam held a whispered conversation in the magically (which Jack may or may not have had a hand in) stretched out backseat. Eileen turned in the front seat joining the conversation, as Cas sat in the middle, pressed up against Dean.
Cas gave his hand a squeezing, shooting him a knowing smile, which only earned a nudge from Dean.
So yeah, maybe Dean did almost have a heart attack earlier in the day. And maybe he did have to let a bunch of annoying people in the next town over pose for pictures with the car when they stopped for dinner. And maybe the horn said "Ka-chow" and "I am speed". And maybe the drive was more than twenty minutes. But in Dean's humble opinion, it was still a pretty good Wednesday after all.
Lightning McQueen be damned.

An awkward Meeting
(A/N): This was requested by an anon. I'm happy to finally present you this one, I really had fun writng it, because it's practically a casual slice out of the crime fighting lovelies :) Enjoy it!
Summary: Derek's daughter accompanies her Aunt and Uncle to the convention. That's pretty much it. Except for that one awkward meeting...
Warnings: A little awkwardness, Kevin Lynch, mentions of murdering someone (it's a joke), the reader dresses up as Black Widow (dunno why I say this, but maybe someone doesn't feel comfortable dressing up as a white/female character)

Derek Morgan is the king of teasing. No, really. If there was a medal and trophy for teasing, he would definitely have it displayed in his glass cabinet next to his daughter’s achievements.
That’s why (Y/N) has to defend her choice to go with her Aunt Penelope and Uncle Spencer to the bone. “Princess, are you really sure you want to do that? I mean, I won’t be mad to take you back home. We can relax on the couch or look at the new house I want to renovate. What do you say?”
(Y/N) pushes the hair from her wig out of her face. “I say no. Dad, I promised them to go and I worked way too hard and long on this cosplay to just don’t use it. Face the facts, your daughter is a nerd dressed in a Black Widow costume.”
Derek laughs and tries to ruffle her hair from his position without causing a car crash. “You, little missy, spent too much time with your Uncle Spencer when you were younger. I think I have to keep both of you from interacting with each other.”
“Oh shut it, you love us and our nerdy rants. Also you have to take the next exit”, his daughter says while looking at her phone for the directions. “Oh okay. I see. You don’t trust your old man bringing you to your little geek event or what?” He teases her and takes the turn.
“Ok, have fun with your Aunt and Uncle. Penelope will bring you home after you ate dinner together. Be good for them, understood?” “Yes”, (Y/N) murmurs while checking her bag.
Her father smirks. “Yes what?” “Sir, yes, Sir. Better?” He pulls her in for a hug. “Much. I love you.” The teenager opens the door and responds: “Love you, too! See you later!” And off she is, the red curls of her wig bouncing with her very step.
“Ah, there she- Oh my god, this cosplay is amazing, like literally everything. You really have to steal our spotlight, do you?” Penelope gushes over (Y/N)’s outfit. “No, I mean look at you. And Spencer, did you handknit that scarf, because I’ve been looking for one like this for ages and I couldn’t find one. You have to show me the pattern if you did.”
After a while of babbling over each other’s cosplay and how certain parts got done, the trio decides to go into the convention. “Okay, the TV Movie is at Hall H at 9. Can we go to that?” Penelope asks, being a step ahead of them. She is practically glowing with excitement.
“Absolutely!” Spencer tells her, being as delighted as the blonde techie. “Do you guys think we can make it to the Enterprise panel at 11? I really wanna see that”, (Y/N) nearly begs. She didn’t wait for nearly two months to miss it in the end.
Penelope nods. “Probably. Thank you both for coming.” “Of course, I wouldn’t want to miss it for the world”, the genius tells her. Together they go into the convention and nerd out about any little thing.
“Do you guys think my Dad would be mad if I bought that Bucky hoodie and Captain America shield after purchasing two pop figures already?” (Y/N) asks, looking indecisive. “There is only one way to find out", encourages Spencer with a sly smirk.
A little later they leave the complex to get a bit of fresh air after spending hours upon hours in a clamped building. As they fangirl about other people’s cosplays, they meet a familiar face.
“Penelope!” “Kevin” Garcia counters, though she is more solemn. “You came and brought a friend. CSU technician Sharp how are you?” Spencer and (Y/N) look at each other uncomfortably. This is definitely the most awkward situation they ever witnessed.
After telling Kevin how lame the whole convention is, Penelope takes her companions by the arm and drags them away.
“Wow, I’ve never seen Penelope Garcia this stiff. Are you sure you don’t have a stick up your-” “I dare you to end that sentence and I’ll tell your father the real amount of money you just spent in there”, she cuts the teenager off, looking her deadly serious into the eye.
This whole Kevin thing pretty much killed the mood, but they still go on with their day. They even meet Rossi, who seems like he just wants to forget that he saw the three of them in costumes.
Later that evening, (Y/N) sits with her Aunt on her couch nearly passed out from the food coma they induced themselves in. “To be honest, Penny, I think you can do 1000 times better without Kevin. Also, I can 100% kill that guy for you, I watched enough Bones episodes to know how to do the perfect crime.”
The blonde laughs and cuddles her godchild closer to her. “Naw, I can’t let you do that as a responsible wine aunt, but I thank you very much for the offer. Now get up, I have to get you home else your father will send out a search party with dogs and as much as I want to pet them I don’t think he will be happy about it.”
That night Derek enters his daughter’s room, spotting her on her bed nearly asleep. “I had the most awkward meeting today, Dad. It was even worse than your cooking fiasco last Christmas.” “Nothing is worse than that. The only thing able to trump that is Penelope meeting Kevin”, he laughs quietly. But as he sees his daughter nodding, his eyes go wide. “No they didn’t!”
“They did and it was super awkward!” Derek lays himself beside her. “Spill the beans. I have to know everything about that to tease your aunt at work.”
And this is exactly how they fall asleep, cuddled close to each other, gossiping about anyone they don't like.

Jake ran over to you as you walked through the door. “y/n!” he shouted as he hugged you.
“Hey buddy! happy birthday!” you hugged him back and handed him a huge gift bag that had his birthday gifts in.
“Someone went overboard with the gifts again, didn't they ?” Kristy smiled at you from the living room. “Hey pretty lady” you made your way over to give her a hug.
“How’s the bean?” your hand rested on her belly, “good” she smiled.
The rest of the team had already arrived, JJ and Emily were outside with the kids as Luke showed them the tricks Roxy could do. Penelope took this moment as her chance to take some pictures, ones you were sure would be sent out to everyone in the morning. Tara, Spencer and Rossi were having a conversation about something you couldn’t hear at the moment. You and Kristy had made your way to the kitchen when Matt came down with the girls, one in each arm.
You took Chloe from him, holding her on your hip. “Not even here for 5 minutes and already stealing my kids ?” Matt asked you
“Haha Simmons, very funny. You’re just mad cause she loves me more, isn't that right kiddo ?” you tickled her side, she let out a loud giggle before you put her down.
Everyone made their way to the backyard. The kids ran around as Roxy chased them through the yard, JJ yelling for them to slow down before they fell over or trample the girls. Rossi stood by the BBQ because he refused to let anyone else cook, although Spencer told him using the BBQ doesn’t exactly count as “cooking”
Emily had found Matt’s wine stash and opened a bottle which her, Penelope and Tara were working on. You were sitting beside Luke as you looked around the yard.
You really did find a family with each other.
David chased his brother to the pool, the boys jumped in which only further caused commotion, as Micheal and Henry jumped in after them. Kristy and JJ both looked like they were about to lose their patience, there were now 4 very hyper boys splashing in the pool.
The noise and laughed had caught Roxy’s attention. Her head perked up from beside Luke’s leg and before he could grab her collar, she made a run straight into the pool.
“Boys! Get out of there!” Kristy told them, all of them laughing and ignoring her.
“If you don’t get out, we’re gonna go home right now” JJ gave her boys a stern look, hoping if they got out, so would Jake and David but again, they just ignored the two woman.
“Matt, will you come get your children ?” Kristy looked over at Matt who could barely move with two very comfortable looking girls sitting on his lap.
“Babe, I can’t” he gave her an apologetic look.
“I got it” you got up and walked over to the pool, Luke followed you. “Rox, c’mon girl” Luke whistled, Roxy too, ignored him. You chuckled as you watched the boys and Roxy in the pool, they all looked so happy.
“Boys, c’mon” you crouched down in front of them, the 4 of them swam up to the edge of the pool.
“Kristy worked hard to put together this party and it’s only fair that we be good for her, right ?”
The boys looked at each other and smiled. “Okay” Jake said, smiling at you. You stuck your hands out to help them get out of the pool, Jake grabbed one hand and Henry grabbed the other and they both tugged.
You fell right into the pool, you swam back up to the top, “are you kidding me?!” you laughed, wiping the water from your face.
Kristy sighed, walking about from the pool, leaving you and the boys in the pool. JJ shook her head, “you’re all in trouble, you too y/n” you laughed as she walked away.
“Rox, come here girl, come on” Luke was still trying to get her out of the pool. “Alvez, come here. I’ll push her to you, you help her out” he crouched down and you did get Roxy to the edge of the pool, and out of the pool. Luke was still crouched down as Roxy shook the water off and all over Luke.
“Hey, help me out” you stuck your arm out to Matt, who made his way over to the pool after giving the girls to Kristy. He grabbed your hand only to be pulled into the pool.
“Y/n are you serious?!” Matt shouted as he splashed the water towards you. You laughed, the boys clung onto their father as JJ’s boys clung onto you. One by one, you helped the kids out of the pool and then got out yourself. You and Matt had a close relationship, he was your best friend, basically like your older brother.
Once everyone had dried off, the boys got their fair share of yelling from their mothers, you got yelled at from Rossi after he saw you encouraging the boys and their nonsense rather than getting them to listen to their mothers. Everyone had settled down and had dinner, Kristy and Matt wrangled the kids together to cut Jake’s birthday cake and attempt to get one decent picture before they all ran off to do their own thing.
Jake and David were in the other room with Henry and Michael while the girls were upstairs. “Y/n, you gotta stop buying so much for the kids. They have a million and one things already. Between you and Penelope, we can stop buying stuff for them” Matt chuckled, you smiled at him as Penelope let out a gasp.
“Matt, I'll have you know that’s my job as the cool aunt! I must- it’s my duty to spoil them” she stated, taking a sip of her drink. You nodded in agreement, “what she said”
It was always nice to have the team together outside of work. Matt and Kristy sat together, her legs rested on his lap. Tara, Spencer and Penelope sat on the other couch, Luke sat on the armrest of that couch beside Penelope. JJ and Emily were on the two seater and Rossi was on the recliner, you sat on the floor beside him.
“Oh!” you looked around for your bag. Rossi looked down at you, “what’s wrong kid ?”
“I have something for Matt” you pulled your bag over to you, digging through the contents of the bag and finding what you were looking for. Everyone was now looking at you, you pulled out a little wrapped box with a bow on it. Tossing it to Matt, he catches it.
“What’s this?” he shook the package
“Open it” you smiled, your head resting on the chair behind you.
Matt ripped the paper off the box, Kristy let out a ridiculously loud laugh when she saw what you had given Matt.
“Are you serious ?” Matt asked you, holding back a laugh.
The wrapping paper on his lap had covered what you had given him. “What is it ?” Luke asked him, Matt held up the box of condoms you had just gifted him. The whole room erupted in laughter.
“As much as I love you guys, and I really do. My wallet can't handle all the birthday and Christmas gifts.” you laughed.
“You're telling me” Matt laughed as he tossed the box to the other side of the couch.
“But seriously, it would be nice to give your wife here a break. She's literally always pregnant Matt, I don't even understand where you find the time”
“I know right!” Luke piped up, Penelope smacking his side “be respectful!”
“Yeah, thanks for these” Matt laughed as he tossed the gift paper at you, making you laugh.
“You’re welcome”
David had wandered into the living room after getting a glass of water, he picked up the box as he sat beside his father.
“Dad?”
“Yeah bud?”
“What are these?”
Matt looked over at him to see what he was referring too, you held back a laugh. Matt took the box from him, “nothing bud, grown up stuff” Matt told him, giving you a look after you let out a stifled laugh.
David shrugged as he made his way back over to the other room.
“I’m gonna kill you l/n” he stood up as did you.
“Only if you can catch me Simmons”

The BAU First online Secret Santa (aka: Rossi vs Zoom)  (Spencer Reid/ Reader)
Tumblr media
Summary: Rossi might have said too much when he wasn't muted in the BAU online Secret Santa Celebration. And Reid is too embarrassed to face (Y/N) afterward.
Requested: Yes. My boyfriend asked me to write this, and asked for some specific gifts for some team members. (Based on season 7 of Criminal Minds in COVID quarantine).
Pairing: Spencer Reid/ Reader- feat the whole team
Warnings: None
Word count: 3K

.
- “Hello?”- Penelope waved at Rossi, but he didn’t reply. She sighed and stared at the camera on her computer, and nearly started jumping and waving.
- “Rossi!! Hey!”
- “Penelope??”- Rossi screamed, looking at the screen, unable to find the tab with the Zoom video conference on his navigator. He could hear her but couldn’t see her.
- “Where are you??”
- “Rossi!! I can’t hear you! you are muted!”- Penelope was already frustrated, and it had been only two minutes.
Rossi had been struggling using Zoom the whole quarantine. Every online meeting for the last couple of months had been filled with “Rossi, you are muted,” “Rossi, we can see you picking your nose,” “Rossi, you aren’t mute, we can hear you fart.” It had been as frustrating as funny for the team.
- “Hey!”- Prentiss waved at the camera- “Where’s everybody?”
- “We’ve got Rossi trying to find us and unmute his mic”- Emily chuckled and nodded- “And Hotch just logged in… hey!”
- “Hello everybody”- Aaron Hotchner waved, and his son Jack appeared in the back of the room, waving too.
- “Did you clean your room?”- he asked his son
- “Yes…”- it was clear Jack was lying
- “So if I go upstairs right now, your room is going to be clean, your bed made, and your toys in their place?- Jack stayed still and just smiled. Slowly, he turned around and ran back to his room.
- “Hey, how did you change your background?”- Emily asked Garcia, who started explaining how to do it.
- “Henry! what is it?”- JJ logged into the conversation, but her attention was really on her son, who kept crying somewhere near her.
- “Hello? Hey? can you hear me?”
- “Hey Spence!!”- Prentiss and Garcia said at the same time and chuckled.
- “Hello! How’s everybody!”- he smiled and stared at his screen.
For someone who hated technology, he was pretty comfortable meeting the team online. Maybe because his germaphobic self was glad they didn’t have to go to the BAU if there was a pandemic going on.
Germs were worse than technology, which was good to know when it came to his phobias.
- “Baby girl, what are you doing?”- Derek’s voice interrupted Garcia’s class of “How to change backgrounds one on one.” Emily enjoyed her time switching pictures on his background, laughing, while JJ tried to convince Henry to eat his banana. Hotch was reading a case file, not paying attention to anything going on around him. Rossi was lost and muted still, trying to find the right tab in his browser, and Spencer was reading a book, sipping a cup of coffee.
- “Hey!!”- (Y/N) waved at the screen and stared at the scene. Everyone in the BAU was on their little bubble.
- “Hello, hey! How are you?”- Spencer closed the book and waved. (Y/N) blushed and waved back. She just stared at him, and all the memories of their last video call came to mind.
They had literally spent the night together. They started a video call around seven, then cooked dinner. Spencer actually cooked ‘cos (Y/N) gave him an easy cooking lesson online. Both of them ate spaghetti with homemade bolognese sauce.
They started talking and talking, drinking tea, and coffee, and cocoa, and more tea. They snuggled on their couches and kept on talking, laughing. Somehow they started reading each other their favorite parts of their favorite books. And somehow, they ended up in their beds, drinking one last cup of tea. They were hugging a pillow, wishing they could actually hug each other, but never saying those words. And so they kept talking until they fell asleep.
(Y/N) had fallen asleep first. Spencer felt he had bored her ‘till she passed out, but the truth was, she had made her best effort to stay awake but failed at four in the morning. She loved talking with Spencer. She loved Spencer, all of him, including all the facts and statistics he would ramble on for hours.
If only she knew he felt the same. He could hear her ramble about books and albums she loved. He didn’t know half the bands she talked about but always googled them after their conversations to understand her a little bit better. And to add facts to their next talk.
.
- “Rossi! Rossi! unmute your mic”- Aaron repeated for the hundredth time during the call, but Rossi still had no idea what he was doing.
- “Ok, ok, don’t touch anything, I’m hacking into your computer,”- Garcia simply said, already tired of waiting. It wasn’t the first time she had done it during the latest months. I wouldn’t be the last either.
- “Hello? can you hear me?”
- “Yes, David”- Aaron nodded and almost smiled- “Hello everybody, I trust you are all having a nice day.”
It was their annual Secret Santa, and for the first time, it was online. They had all made sure to mail their presents earlier enough, and everybody had gotten theirs already. It was December 24th, and though it was still just noon, Rossi enjoyed the first whiskey of the day.
.
- “I sent you all cookies!!”- Penelope clapped and smiled, staring into the camera- “Did you all get it?”
- “Yes!”- they all answered but (Y/N).
- “No… I didn’t”
- “What?! But I sent them yesterday! the delivery said you had gotten them,”- Penelope explained, but (Y/N) just shook her head.
- “Sorry Garcia, I just got my Secret Santa present this week, and that’s it”
- “Someone stole your cookies, pretty girl!”- Derek chuckled and took a bit of one of his- “Your lost, ‘cos they are delicious.”
- “Great… not only I get to spend Christmas alone, now I have to bake my own cookies.”- she groaned and sighed.
- “What? Alone?”- JJ was in shock- “What about your family? Family get-togethers are allowed this weekend. It just has to be less than ten people in each house.”
- “They live in Seattle, and I can’t travel ‘cos I don’t wanna expose my grandparents to any risk, so I decided to spend Christmas alone”- (Y/N) cut the team a short smile. They all wide opened their eyes in shock. Christmas alone was never a good plan.
- “Me and Jack are going to spend it with his grandfather and aunt. We would be glad to have you over.”- Hotch immediately said, and (Y/N) smiled.
- “Thank you, but that’s ok, it’s just Christmas…”- that really didn’t sound good.
- “I’m gonna be alone too,”- Spencer texted her ‘cos he didn’t want to say it in front of the team- “Do you wanna spend Christmas with me? I can save you some cookies”.
(Y/N) chuckled as she read, and Spencer smiled, staring at her. You don’t usually get to see the reaction of the person you text. And he loved it.
- “Why are you going to be alone?”- she wrote back
- “Same as you, I don’t wanna expose my mom, and she is all the family I’ve got. She’ll spend Christmas with aunt Ethel”.
- “Hey! (Y/N), are you listening?”- Penelope waved and nearly yelled.
- “Sorry, what?”- (Y/N) left the phone aside and tried to focus on the team.
- “JJ was saying you are also welcome to spend it with her mom, Henry, and Will.”
- “Thank you guys, but… I think I’ll be ok.”
She blushed at those words and made her best not to look at Spencer as she smiled. Which was incredibly useless, ‘cos no one knew where Spencer’s image was on her screen. And at the same time, it was so easy for the team to profile what was going on. That’s why neither of them said another word.
- “Ok, can we start opening presents now?”- Prentiss asked. Her background was now a beach, and she had put on a big hat and sunglasses. Penelope and JJ laughed at her so loud that they didn’t listen when Aaron said they should make a distant toast.
- “Wait! let me get something to drink!”- (Y/N) stood up quickly and poured herself a cup of tea.
- “Ok, now I’m ready, sorry”- and when she looked at the screen, Spencer was blushing, and everybody was chuckling.
- “What did I miss?”
- “Nothing pretty girl”- Derek just smiled- “Let’s do the presents thing… who wants to start?”
- “Henry is pretty restless today, so if you guys don’t mind, I want to start”- JJ waved and showed everybody her present.
“You have to guess who gave you your present,”- Emily explained and sipped her cup of coffee.
- “Alright… let’s see… I got this envelope from my Secret Santa and… it’s just what I needed!!”- JJ smiled and nearly jumped on her seat
- “It’s a whole spa day!! Mom needs a day off when this pandemic ends!! thank you, Secret Santa!!”
- “Who do you think gave you that?”- Penelope asked, and JJ looked at each one of her teammates on the screen.
- I’m gonna go with… Hotch, ‘cos I think he understands exactly what’s like being a parent in quarantine- Aaron chuckled and shook his head.
- “Sorry, I would have given you that, though, but it wasn’t me.”
- “Then who?”- Rossi raised his hand and smiled
- “I noticed you were a little… stressed last time we talked. I thought maybe when this whole thing ends, you would enjoy a day to treat yourself.”
- “Thank you so much, Rossi. I really appreciate it!!”
 .
The whole team continued opening their presents and laughed, trying to guess who was their Secret Santa. Hotch got a horrible (and yet adorable) Christmas sweater with a gigantic Rudolph on it and a matching one for Jack. He guessed right away it was from Penelope.
Hotch bought García a fantastic pair of high heels and confessed he had picked them himself. Aaron Hotchner had a pretty good fashion sense. Who knew?
Rossi opened his present and laughed, shocked. It was one costly and hard to find Scotch bottle. He thought it was from Emily, but no, it was from (Y/N).
- “I remembered you said it was your favorite, and I thought maybe you’d like to share it with us next time we have a real get-together in your house.”
- “It’s very nice and naive of you to think I might actually share this present with anyone”- Rossi smiled and waved at the screen- “Thank you, kid.”
Emily got a weekend in Vegas from JJ to make it up for the “Sin to Win” weekend she lost because of a case a few months before. And again, she refused to explain to the team what “Sin to Win” meant.
Morgan got a life provision of baby oil to rub on his six pack and biceps each time he took his shirt off. It was a joke from Emily, and Rossi nearly had a heart attack laughing at it. Penelope wanted a demonstration, but Derek promised a private show. Prentiss also got him a new kit of tools for home repairs, which always came in handy for him… mostly to fix all the doors he kicked.
- “And what did you get, Spence?”- JJ asked, now holding Henry in her arms, trying to keep him calm. Reid opened his present and smiled. It wasn’t a happy smile though, it was a “are you fucking kidding me?” smile.
- “Dating for Dummies”- he said and showed the book- “And I’m pretty sure this is from Morgan.”
- “As soon as this quarantine ends, you and I are going to a club, so you better study that book, ‘cos I’m gonna make you put it on good use.”
Morgan joked, but after all those years, it just wasn’t funny anymore, not for Spencer, at least.
- “And last but not least, what did you get (Y/N)?”- Penelope’s eyes were shining. She loved Secret Santa. She had forced Hotch to put on his sweater, and he was now feeling like a dork on camera. Garcia, of course, had taken many screen-captures to save that amazing moment.
- “Well, I’m pretty sure this is from Spencer”- she smiled, ‘cos he was the only one left. He blushed and waved.
- “I hope you like it”- (Y/N) unwrapped the present carefully and smiled, surprised.
- “Where did you get this?”- it was an original edition of The Little Prince, in french. It was tough to find.
- “You said you loved the book ‘cos your mom read it to you when you were a kid, so… I thought you’d like it.”
(Y/N) couldn’t stop going through each page, as a million memories of her childhood came to her mind. Her mother had passed away when she was in high school, and the book meant more to her than anyone could imagine.
- “Thank you”- she whispered and bit her lip, making her best not to cry.
- “Jesus Christ! When is he going to tell her he loves her!?”- Rossi nearly yelled. He was in the back of his office, pouring himself a glass of his Secret Santa present.
The whole team stayed quiet, making their best not to laugh. Spencer wanted to die. He rested his head on the desk and controlled the urge to leave the conversation.
- “Hey, Rossi… just so you know, you weren’t muted.”- Prentiss managed to say and chuckled. He looked at the screen and stayed quiet.
- “Ok... I think I’m gonna go now. This Scotch is already getting to my head, so… see you guys!!”- Rossi waved and tried to leave.
- “Fuck! I hope I didn’t ruin it for the kid. Well, someone had to say it anyway”- he whispered, embarrassed.
- “Rossi, we can still hear you. You didn’t close the conversation, just minimized it”- JJ warned him, and that time, everybody burst out laughing.
- “Ok, I’m gonna go now…”- Spencer couldn’t even look at (Y/N) anymore. He just waved and closed Zoom.
- “I’m gonna go too”- (Y/N) whispered- “I hope everybody has a nice holiday!”- she didn’t even wait for anyone to say anything else. She just left the conversation and walked to the kitchen to get herself a glass of water.
What the hell had just happened?
.
Spencer had a panic attack. What was he supposed to do now? Confess his feelings? Rossi had already done it for him. Should he call (Y/N) and tell her it was just a joke? Tell her the truth? Invite her over for Christmas, again?
- “Fuck!!”- he shouted and walked to his kitchen. Some whiskey Morgan left last time he visited was still there, and though Reid wasn’t much of a drinker, he needed one.
He honestly had no idea what to do. He knew he couldn’t face (Y/N) now. How? he would fluster just to be in the same room with her. Rossi really ruined everything. It seemed it was the end of the world.
- “I’m gonna have to quit, move from DC, change my name, start my life from scratch…”
Yes, Spencer was making a drama out of the whole situation. But in his defense, he had never been in that kind of situation before.
.
It was eight pm when Spencer heard a knock on the door. He had been lying on his couch most of the afternoon, trying to read. Still, his mind kept coming back to (Y/N) and the embarrassment he felt after Rossi’s comment.
- “Hi”- (Y/N) whispered as soon as Reid opened the door, and his heart stopped- “You said I could come for Christmas… so…”- he stood still and just nodded. She was there, wearing a Dr. Who mask, with some snowflakes on her coat.
- “Can I come in?”
- “Sure! I’m sorry, I just…”- Spencer moved from the door and watched her taking off her shoes, leaving a few paper bags on the table, and smiling at him as soon as she removed her mask.
- “Can I wash my hands?”
- “Of course, the bathroom is…”- Reid stopped himself. She knew where the bathroom was. That wasn’t the first time she was there.
While she washed her hand, he made his best to clean a little, folded the blanket on his couch, and piled all the books that were lying around.
- “So… I hope I’m not interrupting anything…”- (Y/N) started apologizing again, but Spencer just shook his head.
- “No, not at all, I just wasn’t expecting you to come after… what…”- he couldn’t even mention it.
- “After what Rossi said?”- she turned around and avoided looking at Spencer. She walked to the bags she had brought and started taking things out
 - “Should we worry he was getting drunk so early?”- she simply said, and Reid chuckled
- “I don’t know, maybe… what are you doing?”
- “Well… I’m not into chicken tandoori for Christmas, so I cooked some things.”
- “It smells delicious”- Reid smiled, and so did (Y/N), feeling her cheeks blushing.
- “It’s mom’s turkey recipe, so it better be good”
- “Let me put that in the fridge”- Reid held the turkey, roasted potatoes, and many other things (Y/N) had cooked and walked to the kitchen.
- “I also got you this”- (Y/N) giggled and followed Spencer. As soon as he left everything he was carrying, she put a Santa hat with red and white stripes on his head.
- “You look like the cat in the hat”- she joked, and Spencer laughed, feeling like the happiest nerd on earth.
- “I’m gonna take that as a compliment.”
- “It is…”- (Y/N) stared at him and sighed, both of them smiling in silence for a second.
- “Did you get one for yourself too?”- he finally asked.
- “Yes! so we can take dorky pictures and send them to Garcia, she is gonna love those”- she made a pause and bit her lips for a second.
- “So… do you like Christmas traditions?”- she asked and looked down at her shoes
- “Mmm, sure… like watching Home Alone drinking hot chocolate?- Spencer asked, thinking he hadn’t really lived many Christmas traditions growing up. However, he knew his mother had made her best to make him happy each holiday.
- “Yeah… that and… maybe this”
(Y/N) took a mistletoe from her pocket and lifted her arm to place it right on top of their heads.
Spencer didn’t move. He just wide opened his eyes, staring at (Y/N), who was now smiling, completely blushed.
- “Since we are spending Christmas together, I thought… we… could…”- but she couldn’t finish talking, ‘cos Spencer leaned in slowly, very slowly until he reached her lips and kissed her. His hands cupped her cheeks carefully, and her arms ended up wrapped around his neck.
- “Merry Christmas, Spencer”- she whispered, rubbing her lips against his when the kiss ended, but neither of them wanted to move apart.
- “Merry Christmas, (Y/N)”
