For the record, here's these visualization on the characters.

The Defenders of the Earth characters are a bit more mature, especially the young Defenders Rick, Jedda, and LJ. Kshin is 12 to 13 years. Picture the art that's already done for the young Defenders.

April, Sheila (who comes in a little later), Cathleen, Amy, Tori, and Rachel all appear as they have appeared in DoE continuity.

The Batman characters are Bruce Timm style, mainly Batman: the Animated Series. Not only is BTAS my childhood, but some of the characters such as Batman himself, Poison Ivy, the Joker, and the Penguin I picture their BTAS looks when thinking about the Batman characters.

Dick Grayson is a tricky one. He's Nightwing in this continuity, and yet, there hasn't been any artwork of Nightwing in BTAS style, just Bruce Timm in general. I've been working on edits of Dick Grayson in Batman TAS Era and "Photoshopped" some pictures using Paint as I don't have the programs to make better art or dont have spare money for commissions. I wish though, lol.

The others in the continuity Tim Drake (who is a teen in this continuity), Cassandra Cain, Jason Todd, and Stephanie Brown are also tricky. Either they'll have the DCAU looks I found through fan art, or they'll have their Batman Wayne Family Adventures looks.

Now very few like Harley Quinn and Two Face pretty much stayed the same, so.

Desmond head canons (with a few non desmond head canons thrown in) (I love desmond and all non-desmonds equally I swear)

Desmond once came out of the animus and tried to greet the others, but he couldn't figure out which language to use, so for about 5 minutes, he cycled through different languages trying to find the right one before just giving up.

Ezio has chronic pain from climbing buildings because he never learned the correct way to climb them, nor the correct stretches to stop the pain

Haytham once convinced Connor to come with him to a tavern, Connor ended up getting drunk and zoning out for 30 minutes before putting his head down and silently crying in the corner

Connor never processed his mom's death because after she died, he had to rebuild the village, then he had to learn to fight, then he had to worry about his villages safety, etc. So he never processed it

Altair and desmond suffer from migraines and not the "my head hurts" migrans I'm talking the ones that cause you to black out for a minute and get sick

Altair once was learning to do a leap of faith, but while it was being explained, he accidently turned on his eagle vision and nearly freaked out (his dad had to take him home right after and explain what Altair was seeing)

After a few days of reliving ezios' memories, desmond started to gravitate towards Shaun because (just like Leo) Shaun smells like books

Altair has the stupidest sense of humor

Ezio collected cats, Altair collected birds, connor collected dogs/ wild animals, and now all animals are just drawn to desmond

Desmond once fist fought a gang leader *and won.* He also got the leaders' respect. (Being a bartender in Manhattan does things to you)

Connor doesn't like walking into new places without being able to scope out the area first

Altair has severe attachment issues, so bc of this, he distances himself as much as possible, so he doesn't get attached

Desmond got into an argument with Bill and got so frustrated that he started talking in native American without realizing Bill then said something snarky and desmond snapped in a perfect native America accent. "Haytham, you are unbelievable"

Desmond can control his ancestors' ratatouille style

When there is a time jump in the animus (for example, the time jumps in the training montage in monteriggioni), it's super disorienting for desmond bc he gets the memories of his ancestor but if he focuses on them he can't remember them

Desmond once cried for an hour in his room bc he couldn't remember Rebecca's name when he came out of the animus

Desmond nearly attacked Bill on multiple occasions because his bleeds made him appear to be a Templar (Bill is no longer allowed near desmond as he is getting out of the animus)

While they were in the temple, a bear wandered in, and everyone freaked out, but desmond just helped the bear find its way back to his mom (they now get random prey left outside of the temple)

One time, desmond tried to reach for a throwing knife before realizing he dosent have throwing knives, and he nearly died, lol

Desmond called Rebecca Claudia once, and she never forgot it

Hi!! I’m super super super sorry for the late reply on this one <:,)) but here’s my best approximation on answering this

With my art style leaning a bit more animated/cartoon ish, I wanna thank @thou-babbling-brook for extra input and advice since she’s more familiar with a realistic style— but no matter the style, there’s a few key points you can use to ensure he maintains his canon look!

Essentially, the key features you wanna look out for are the shape of the face, and making landmarks of the features on the face. Everyone has kinda unique facial proportions, so nailing that can get you pretty far ahead in terms of likeness.

Key features to look out for include (but aren’t limited to): jawline, eyes, cheeks, nose, and lips.

Details to keep in mind to make Ratonhnhaké:ton resemble his game design would include the pronounced Philtrum (space between the upper lip and bottom of the nose), sloped upper eyelid and the way the lines of his eyes extend out, ‘coffin’ face shape, large nose with a wide base, Cupid’s bow lips, strong brows and strong high cheekbones.

Other extra details are his crows feet by the corner of his eyes (not always pictured), cheek scar, the lil chin thing, and freckles !!

And here’s a big ol slab of pictures of his face to hopefully help since looking at reference first hand is probably more reliable than just my word lmao

Fairy Tail Characters Ethnicity HCs

I don’t have as much extensive proof as I do for my Erik headcanons post but I will explain my thoughts for why I think certain ethnicities.

Natsu Dragneel : Japanese + Greek? (Because of the clothing style in his past flashback with his biological family)

Erza Scarlet : British + ? - I say British because she reminds me of Lara Croft who in her older days had reddish hair, also English history is big on knights, which Erza is. The other half I can’t tell as I don’t actually know what to think of her father Rung as. He seems like a POC though. (Maybe Mexican?)

Lucy Heartfilia : British / American - Because Lucy’s heritage as a noble it reminds me more of English nobility, but then her characteristics remind me more of american for some reason (it doesn’t help that Lucy looks a lot like Ashley Graham from the original RE4 and she’s American so I am kind of biased there)

Gray Fullbuster : Canada or Serbia (I think that’s mainly because I am making the link of cold countries though). Also if with Serbian I can see Ultear and him coming from similar places)

Gajeel Redfox : Native American (His hair and features remind me of Native Americans and I don’t know he kind of reminds me and looks like of Ratohnhake:ton / Connor from AC3) Juvia Lockser : Spanish + Russian (Spanish as the name Juvia is Spanish origin and Russian since the ushanka she wears and her clothing style in general)

Jellal Fernandes : Mixed ethnic - Mixed Arab (mainly Levantine Arab) + Brazilian, but then in my HCs he’s also part Desi too since the name Jellal is most prominent in India (And I want Erik to have a desi bro in CS). And the Arab/South asian idea came from him wearing Kohl/Surma in S1 in the anime.

Ultear Milkovich : Serbian with mixed Central Asian or Kazakh (Again cold countries but since Ultear looks Eurasian but with dark features these countries came to mind. Serbia because apparently the name Milkovich is Serbian origin)

Macbeth/Midnight : English w/Scottish + Irish + Japanese - English/Scottish/Irish is a given since his name ‘Macbeth’ but since his aesthetic is alike to Visual Kei, I see Japanese influence. But I don’t know, I just can see Macbeth with a british accent, maybe that’s just me.

Sorano Aguria : French and Korean/Japanese (I don’t know why I have the French, it just fits me when discussing with my friend @acutemushroom. Korean/Japanese because despite having a Japanese name (her and Yukino) due to her features she gave me kind of Korean vibes for some reason)

Sawyer : English (I can’t explain other than the name. But I thought of Romanian too for some reason, so English + Romanian?)

Richard Buchanan : South African + Scottish? (My only thought for this was because Buchanan I knew it as a last name big in South Africa, and Scottish is probably because of the red hair and ruddy complexion that I know scottish people can have)

Meredy : Irish (I don’t know why, it was hard to think of anything for her)

Kinana : Desi (Since the name Kinana is an urdu name apparently - So Pakistani)

Cana Alberona : Irish + Italian (Guildarts gave me tanned Irish vibes for some reason and Alberona is I believe an Italian name)

Minerva Orland : Chinese + Latina (She wears a Cheongsam and her hair reminds me of Chinese culture but then I see Latina too) BUT, maybe she has Egyptian too and Italian since Minerva (Italian/Latin) but the blue eyeliner/eyeshadow she always has is alike to Malachite powder that was used by ancient egyptians

Laxus Dreyar : Ukrainian + Russian (He gives me eastern europe vibes and also his features) but also since he's Makarov’s grandson he’d have Russian in him

Makarov Dreyar : Russian - (I think his full name is of Russian origin but I can't be sure.) These are the HCs I have off the top of my head, hope this answers your question!

For Connor Rhodes please and thank you!

Connor doesn’t expect to see you on the bench outside the hospital. At first he isn’t even sure that it is you because you look completely different. These days your hair is pastel pink, falling to the line of your jaw in loose waves instead of your usual conservative style. Your eyes are highlighted with black liquid liner, accentuating their shape. Your lips are painted coral, framing your mouth into a pretty pout. Your clothing screams art student, plaid maxi skirt with a black crop top and combat boots. There’s a five different silver studs in your left ear and a couple in your right. He only remembers two.

It's been almost six months since you left to go undercover and it feels like he’s staring at a completely different person. You’re feeling shy, he can tell. It’s in the way you hang back just a little, the unsurity in your features. Six months is a long time to be away, to not be involved in partner’s life.

It can be hard coming back, Antonio had warned him a couple of weeks ago. Trying to step back into your life after being someone else for a while, it can take a while to acclimate. Be kind to her, treat her the way you did before, remind her that nothing’s changed.

“When you commit to a role…” He says as he approaches you. “…you really commit.”

You shrug in response to his words, tucking your hands into the pockets of your jacket. There’s a tension in your shoulders. It’s as if you’re steeling yourself for a blow. He knows what you expect him to say, the assignment was too long, he’s taken another lover, someone who can be there for him when he needs it.

“Baby…” He murmurs as he cradles your face between his hands. “Do you think I’m not happy to see you?”

Your eyes meet his and he sees such sadness in them. He can’t imagine how isolating it must have been undercover, how alone you must have felt. You build up those walls to protect yourself, keep yourself safe and he knows how hard it is to break them back down again.

“My feelings haven’t changed.” He reassures you and he sees a crack in the armour, a slight glimmer of hope. “I’m still as in love with you as the day you left.”

love the drawings you've been making for desmond and alex, what's ghosts in the machine? first i see them crawling out of your screen and now everyone's angels devils or monsters, i don't know if i'm missing something!

ah man, think it's time to try to summarize everything and apologize LMAO;; ty for asking though, i should've made things less confusing! this will be a Pretty lengthy post for irl context/backstory and "actual au" info so be ready if you want to read everything!

(for starters, the title's just a pun on the philosophical phrase "ghost in the machine" interpreted Literally and taking inspiration from clay in ac revelations, since he Was a ghost in a machine and jokingly called "my guardian angel" by des, haha)

the short version: basically, "ghosts in the machine" is what i've called the au(?) where i just doodle silly "artist talking to her art muse(s)" stuff like these kinds of comics instead w me,, the ""art muse"" is whatever i'm hyperfixated on (currently desmond, the assassin brotherhood as a whole, and alex/prototype lmao):

the Full LONG version: when replaying prototype and ac awhile back, i also posted fanart on LOFTER (china’s local version of tumblr) and made a mainlander mutual/friend who drew fanart too, like her oc w the assassins in an animal shapeshifter 刺客信条乙女向 (assassin’s creed otome) au! as i’m vietnamese-american and she’s chinese, we use translators and send pictures/doodles to talk about the games and our days, and when i was replaying prototype, she started ac2 too and sent me this as commentary:

from there, whenever we’d text or send pics/art, it became a running joke of sorts to also include our ""game companions"" like that fanfiction thing of “author’s note where the author and fictional characters comment on the situation and/or talk to each other”, and my doodles also became us or our computers being accompanied by them LMAO;; that’s pretty much the origin and setting of the particular doodles; just the daily shenanigans and art struggles of an artist (me and her) talking to their art muses (characters from special interests) haunting them and their computers

as for the "supernatural" aspects, at some point desmond and alex got drawn an as angel and devil because i’ve had ridiculous “protected by a guardian angel” luck lately like surviving a car crash unharmed, they’re my favorites and associated with me, the motifs match the duo, etc, it's not really that deep and/or for a "Lore Reason";;

likewise, the brotherhood got drawn as ghosts to emphasize the “we/our computers are haunted by them” joke more, along with how my friend and i are both asian and used to like ghosts and ancestral worship casually being a part of our lives already LMAO (ig in the context of the au then, they’re basically desmond’s ancestral spirits disney-mulan-style that freeload off of his vietnamese protectee (me) for both spiritual veneration or "worship" like staying relevant in this modern age via fanart)

for example, i'm also considering drawing like altair, ezio, connor, and edward as the vietnamese four holy beasts just to play around, things like that! there's no special lore reason aside from just personal thoughts and "oh that'd be fun to draw", they just thematically fit well being four prominent “legends” and being desmond's ancestors, etc,, haha

at the end of the day, "ghosts in the machine" are just silly shenanigans of me drawing what's on my mind, from who/what i'm hyperfixated on (aka impromptu art muses for me), any thoughts/frustrations i have w daily life or drawing stuff,, and "hm this sounds cool, i could draw this design or Cool Thing" stuff. it's not really an au persay (plus i still really cringe and feel self-consciously wary about the embarrassing self-insert aspect of all this, help lmao), it’s just,, just silly personal scribblings that are kind of sharing an inside joke to everyone now, but i'm happy to know people still humor these silly drawings and are curious if there's more to it, thank you!

7.7.2023 (1, 2) – Last Twilight Filming

+ bonus: The first look on Night

I doubt I will be posting all the preview pictures like this, but I might occasionally drop some here as Tumblr and my own blog are both my archive and my safe space. So welcome on this journey with me if you choose to follow along ♥

I also try to keep away from talking too much about my own opinions and expectations when it comes to this series bc I don't really have much to add to the general discussion. Also, I hate to be known like that. But I wanted to share a few thoughts on these pictures nonetheless.

First of all, I am extremely curious about the whole mood change we can notice in these pictures. The warm and soft yellows in the trailer have changed to these stark and cold blues and grays. I know this most likely won't be their final look as the actual filmed material will go through coloring and editing in the post-production process, but these colors on set and in their styling are definitely a choice. I'm personally expecting this to mean the story will hit even harder, though I also think that was a given either way. They're out to murder us, I'm just saying.

I love what this change has done to Mork however. I've seen a lot of people on Twt say they don't really approve Jimmy's new hairstyle and that they cannot recognize the character of Mork without the longer hair, but I'm stoked. He looks worse, in a good way, than he did in the trailer. He's sharper, rougher from the edges. I can see that he can be even mean like this if he wants to, and I was kind of expecting the beginning of MorkDay's story to be based on some level of distaste or even hostility towards each other. Mork is not a natural caretaker and Day doesn't really want to be taken care of so I'm excited to see what will become of that.

(Also I will not talk about Mork with his bike bc my brain is just empty when it comes to that. You point that picture out to me and all you can hear are crickets. Though my brain will insist that the one in that picture is Wai which I find hilarious.)

With Day, I'm a bit more indecisive. I'm honestly surprised how much he suddenly changed from the trailer and how much the feeling I get from him changed when they decided to put these colder colors on him. Sea's hair is styled down which somehow makes me think about an anime character, and it doesn't help that he's dressed in those black shirts/jackets? with the stickup collar. (The blue stripe in that second picture makes me think about Connor from Detroit: Become Human which. Not an AU I thought I had in me lbh.) I am not against it though. He looks younger if colder, and with the casual t-shirts, he has this almost child-like feeling to him. Makes me think that Day will be a bit of a brat. I love that for us.

My biggest grievance currently is that they apparently changed the actress for Day's mother. I love the lady they had in the trailer and I was honestly so excited to see her working with JimmySea. She has, after all, played some of my favorite mothers in Thai BLs (Ayan's mother in The Eclipse, Mon's mother in GAP, and Junior's mother in Bad Buddy). I like her face and she has this very warm and gentle feeling to her. Maybe changing her out also had something to do with the overall mood switch, we will have to wait and see.

Overall very excited to see what actually happens in this. Also excited to see other locations than just Day's house but I guess we will have to wait for that for a while. Same with anything softer which I'm not against bc the first hint of intimacy between MorkDay will probably make me pass out.

do you have any thoughts on people saying the writing isn't subtle enough / feels off for succession this season?

oh man... there are a lot of different critiques being rolled in together here so forgive me being a little broad. also, i'm focussing on what i'm hearing from, like, podcasters and episode recaps and reviews, because those things are coming from people who are actually trying to be public figures and i'm not interested in bitching about random tumblr users who are just on their personal blogs lol.

anyway, so, in terms of things that i've seen being criticised repeatedly. one is the dialogue; people feel it's too blunt or direct and sometimes hacky. i have some sympathy here; i didn't love, for example, the tomshiv dialogue in episodes 1 and 4. however, succession has always had some percentage of dialogue that's direct like this, or frankly just lacklustre. if every line was a snappy one-liner that would suck, actually. also, i don't think it's true that this style of more blunt dialogue is universally bad; episode 3 had a high percentage of it, because of the subject matter, and it received basically universal critical acclaim. i feel like i need to get to the end of the season before i can see how it all fits together.

another thing that i think people are right to perceive as a change is that logan's death, plus shiv and roman getting more development and screentime, means it feels more like an ensemble show now. i don't inherently dislike this, though i do think it has contributed to some pacing wobbles (like i thought the first halves of episodes 1 and 2 were weak points thus far). it's not an entirely new trend, though, and on balance i think it works okay because this season really demands that sort of equal focus on all three sibs after logan's death. (rip connor)

then there's the fact that like .... frankly .... most, uh, mainstream anglo journalists are some flavour of corny liberal and i just don't think they understand what's being done politically in this season or how it's continuous with prior seasons lol. like, in many ways the cruises storyline (which i love, dgmw) was easier for them to parse because they could just read it as "the corporate world does misogyny and that's bad." which is like, true, but it doesn't really engage with the commentary on masculinity on any deeper level, or fascist homoerotics, or how media conglomerates create and profit from the spectacularisation of politics and everyday life and why that's fascistic. like if i were to put this bluntly, it surprised me how many people were surprised by 3x06 and i think journalists who didn't see that coming or thought it was thematically discordant are just not people who have anything interesting to say about this show lol. so like, yeah of course they're not tracking the body politics and arguments about degeneracy theory and capitalist eugenics that animate the entire show and especially season 4.

i certainly don't think the show is beyond reproach, and i have some nitpicks and complaints and criticisms, including of this season. i also can't yet pass judgment on the ending obviously, and reserve the right to hate it if necessary. but in general i like season 4, i think it's good television, and i don't think it's discontinuous with what this show has always been. and honestly, in a year, when the dust has settled and people are able to consider the entire season as one coherent piece, i would not be surprised if the critical response is markedly different and probably marked by a certain degree of nostalgia that we're simply not seeing right now because these episodes are hours old.

I have some Harry Potter art I did that I just realized I never actually posted

Anyways, these are from this summer on and in chronological order starting with this drawing of Sirius I used in an animation

This style is absolutely not my usual one, I was drawing on Adobe Animate which has way fewer brushes [...that I could find lol- I have since figured it out a bit more but it's fun to experiment] and you can very much see that I gave up trying to redraw his hands lol (i just color picked from my reference pic and colored right on top in a new layer bc animation is hard enough like that)

(I'll reblog with the animation when I find it bc I do not remember in the slightest where I put it)

Up next is a Drarry thing I did in Photoshop both to test out Ps and to illustrate one of @drarrily-we-row-along 's fics iirc (yes this was this summer, yes I have no recollection of it lol)

Again, not my usual style but I guess my usual style is me doing doodles in class so this could definitely become my usual style

Did I spend the most time drawing and shading the pool toy despite the fact that there's a whole entire human in the pic? Absolutely lol

This was meant to be a quick sketch to try out some new brushes/new coloring style bc I actually decided to watch a CSP (clip studio paint) tutorial for once

Based off of the technique of using watercolor brushes, I did the four houses

The raven/crow/eagle/whatever bird that is is traced bc birds are really hard to draw and I just noticed that the brush is visible hovering over the lion but oh well

This one is really just because the cottage my family stayed at during vacation had a sauna lol

This was actually a pretty fast drawing because the background is a picture which makes it so much easier, especially given that I drew that in a moving car

Also his glasses are floating lol i'm so good at details like that [i have glasses i should know how to draw glasses]
