Been playing Love and Deepspace for the past few days and here's my take on this.....

Content warning though, it's gonna be a long post! And this is just coming from someone who only played the game a few days ago so this is just my first impression!

Let me just say this, algorithm...

It's your fault for making me download the game.

You knew I like hot attractive fictional men. You knew I like bratty boyfailures. You knew I like older, stoic yet kind men. You knew I like mysterious softboys.

YOU KNEW.

So you bombarded me with L&DS content on my socials, my home, my walls, and even my grass!!! I won't forgive you for dragging me into another gacha hole, especially when you knew that I promise myself to never spend a dime on any of these games!!! (I'm an f2p player)

Anyways-- Here's my take on this game as a newbie.

The VAs and character designs?

Amazing. I love the boys (including Caleb) and the MC customisation is really detailed. Though, I wish we could have short hair MC permanently but I'm glad we get to experience it on photoshoots. I do wish we get to explore more of the boys on the main plot cause it feels a bit underwhelming. Then again I just finished chapter 3 so we'll see!

I love the dates and the playtime mode since it gives us time to get closer to the boys and understand more about their past and their characteristics. (I'm convinced the claw machine gacha is so random cause one day Xavier won a lot and the next it was Zayne)

I will say tho for now I feel like Rafayel is more developed and interesting compared to the other two. I like Zayne in terms of how much he really cares about his patients and how he was closer to MC back then, but I wish we get more of him soon. For Xavier he's such a mystique as well and I really like him too! Overall, I wish we get more events dedicated to Zayne and Xavier.

The fluidity of the animation and graphics?

Really good considering that I'm playing it on mobile, I set it to medium and its runs pretty smoothly without any low pixelated quality. I love how detailed the backgrounds and designs are, and I really love some of the cinematic shots the developers added during the date scenes. I can't wait to pull for more dates for the characters!

Combat wise?

It's fine for now ,and I really appreciate the proceed 10x button when farming for materuals considering that I'm more of a casual player rather than a combat one.

Though I'm still frustrated that one of the requirements of getting 3 stars for extra diamonds would be to win the combat within 90 secs and I'm like-- boy if that dragon didn't have that short animation I would've gotten it faster!!! If it had been 120 secs I would have gotten it easier... I know that the whole combat system will get a bit complicated the more you ascend your hunter level so I'll just farm for materials just to prepare the inevitable.

Also I wish there were more ways to gain more exps for your hunter level instead of doing the daily tasks. Imagine you are about to head to the next chapter get some main content and yet you can't bc your hunter level is just two level away so you have to wait for the next day...

The plot?

I would say its okay for now since I'm about to head to chapter 4 and even though I finished chapter 3 it still feels like the beginning. The worldbuilding is really interesting but I'm still a bit confused on some aspects of the story. Overall, I can't wait to finally see Caleb on screen (I already saw him on Youtube and I wish he's playable he's so pretty sksksksks)

Edit: I just finished chapter 4.... what in the sweet metaflux world... CALEEEBBBBBB!!!!!

So yeah this is my impression on the game as someone who only joined after a few days! I hope to see more contents for the boys and I can't wait for more chapters (I spoiled myself at chapter 4 and my god... I want Caleb to be playable plzzzzz)

I'm aware that as a newbie my opinions are probably flawed considering that it's barely even a week since I joined, I would love to hear some advices from you guys just so I can prepare myself in terms of combat and to understand more about the characters if I missed anything about them!

Playing Honkai Impact with the BSD men (Dazai, Chuuya, Kunikida and Fyodor)

Note: Crack, OOC even maybe, random ideas at 2AM while I do the Honkai grinding. Might do a Genshin version later if I feel like it. Genre: Crack, fluff, if you squint hard enough there'll be 4th wall breaking and some spoilers for Storm Bringer.

Is willing to play with you, and he is kinda bored so he needs something to kill time in the office when he's not sleeping or messing around with Kunikida.

Man makes you question your luck because just 10 roll in any banner and he WILL get all the rate-up character, weapon or even stigmata.

That certain player who skips the story just to play the game.

Said that he's gonna read it later but never will. Too lazy to do that, but does read the comic/manhua version when you brought that up.

But he does read Elysian Realm, including the main story.

Is a simp for Elysia and the other Seele aka Veliona.

Got them at SSS with full gear as well.

Man also got Stygian Nymph at SS2 like how-

Sometimes when he's too lazy or bored he'll throw the phone to you or Atsushi to help him with the daily tasks.

HATES, absolutely hates Otto with a fierce passion. Will switch to Chinese VA if he had to or simply unplug the headphones when he doesn't want to changes VA back and forth too much.

Man started you by almost jumped out of the bed when he first heard Otto's voice in Memorial Arena.

Was suprised af hearing Welt's voice too. Will use that as the reason to 'persuade' Kunikida into playing the game.

"Hey Atsushi-kun, help me a bit will you? Just skip the materials event and play enough to reach 600 BP points and you're good to go!"

With that said, he threw the phone to his subordinate and immediately went to lay down on the couch. Poor Atsushi knows nothing and was fumbling with it for a good while until you took Dazai's phone from his hands.

"It's alright, I will do it for him. You can get back to work, sorry for that, Atsushi."

Chuuya:

Is okay with it actually because he does want to relive some stress, and because you told him to cut out on the cigarettes so he needs something that can distract him.

Enjoys the story enough to play the game with you. That is, until he read Void Heavens & Diane's Sojourn.

Was crying at the part when Herrescher of Void told Fu Hua that Kiana's existence is built upon lies and that she only exists to serve as her vessel.

He cries for the whole night in your arms because that reminds him of what he's been through back then. He was lucky enough that he is, actually a real human being. Still, deep down sometimes he wishes he could be a normal person, for if weren't because of Arahabaki inside him, he wouldn't had to suffer like that.

Didn't touch the game for a whole week after he finished Thunders over Nagazora.

Cries even harder after the end of Theater of Domination and the birth of Herrescher of Flamescion.

Immediately whale for Kiana. He whaled so much in just ONE DAY that Hoyoverse had to contact him and ask is he sure that he wants to continue the transaction.

He had all Kiana's battlesuits at SSS and with proper stigmata sets + weapons for them.

Did whale for Himeko as well because why not? Aunt Himeko deserves it ❤

Those doesn't left even a dent in his black card. Will let you whale as well, as long as his princess is happy ❤

"You have quite the collection there, Chuuya. By this rate they're gonna give you a Kiana golden statue as a gift."

Chuuya widened his eyes in suprise. He didn't expect to get anything back, he just wanted to see Kiana's growth, for he saw a glimpse of himself in the valkyrie. He admires those with a strong will like that, maybe it was a part of his younger self who admires the heroes in those stories which he convinces himself that he will never become someone like them.

"Well, they might be. I heard that a company use to sent a wedding ring as a token of appreciation for their most loyal customer." (*)

Kunikida:

Absolutely not. He "will not waste his time on such things."

Too busy to afford a hobby, no?

But when Dazai shows him Welt's voice?

He was so suprised his jaws could fall off right there on his desk.

Still not going to play because he insists you that his schedule is already packed. But he will listen to you when you ramble about the game though.

Might ask you to lend him your phone so he can read the story at one point.

He bursted out at the last bubble universe in In The Deep where Welt, Herrescher of Reason turns his back against humanity instead of fighting for them like he always did.

He was scared that he might become like that. Sasaki and the Azure King case still haunts him. He was afraid that one day he will be like him when he is fed up and let his ideals consumes him.

Please hug the man. He deserves a vacation and someone who'd be there for him.

Fyodor:

Honestly, he isn't too fond of the idea of playing games and such.

Will try because of curiosity when you show him Otto's voice.

Does read the story properly, and whilst he shows no interests in the valkyries, he find the Overseer amusing.

Is one hell of a lucky man as well.

When he saw Dazai in the Memorial Arena rankings, he'd starts a race to beat the other. He does owns enough valkyries and equipments, but if he felt it isn't enough he'll whale just to beat Dazai. Of course that's the same case for our beloved detective.

Isn't happy after he finishes Kolosten and Thus Spoke Apocalypse. He doesn't understand why does Otto have to go so far for Kallen.

Is amused again when he saw the fake Otto in A Post-Honkai Odyssey though.

Eventually will quit the game after Otto is gone because it no longer amuses him.

They came home the first 30 pulls on their banner, and Albedo was elated!

After a while of doing the event (getting a bit mad at Reckless Pallad for being a damn idiot), he started enjoying and (though unknowingly) liking Y/n

You bet he finished the event just to get the sword to r5

He farmed their artifacts well and made them the best support ever, occasionally using them as a DPS too

The moment your sibling had been introduced, the first thing he thought of was how she was so similar to Klee, and how your relationship with her was similar to his and Klee's

Haha he wished for them too, got around 70 pity though

Talks to Klee about you and your sibling, and to no surprise, she likes you and your sibling too!

A bit sad about the death flags around your character, but he knows he can't do anything about it just yet

He smiles so fondly whenever you do the idle animation with the twig

When he found out you were an artist, he wss even more elated!

The character seemed a bit normal at first, polite (which kind if irked him) so he completely ignored them

lisa main. he knows the best artifacts for her, has her ideal weapon maxed out, he basically has the most perfect build ever. the crit rolls are in his favour.

vyn’s main party most likely would consist of lisa, aether, fischl and xingqiu. he insists that he uses xingqiu a lot but he’s just there as a battery </3.

secretly cried a little when he lost the 5O/5O to kazuha. he got jean instead, but he is reluctant of using her because of how much painful thoughts of unluckiness it brings vyn whenever she appears in his party.

highest dmg dealt was a whole 7Ok when he fought the cryo regisvine. ( well damn vyn hand over your build rn )

f2p. vyn doesn’t see a valid reason as to why he should spend money on a game such as genshin impact. he claims it was purely a ‘small activity’ of his, not something he plans on taking further ( though he spent at least half an entire day building lisa …… ??? )

his main party would consist of barbara, bennett, razor and xiao. xiao’s probably his only 5 star as of the moment so of course like would include him in the team.

always the first one to die whenever he fights domains or bosses in coop. he barely carries the group but hey, at least he’s there for the healing.

actually has a decent build ! sure, some of them are four star artifacts and not all of them have been fully leveled up, but he has the right stats and all that needed. so his highest dmg dealt to an enemy is probably 12k, and he struggles to get past that achievement.

light spender, only because he’s used his entire wallet on genshin so he has nothing else to spend. the most he bought from the game was probably two months of welkin but that’s kinda it.

overall i want his account like 7.5/1O because he has xiao and buff barbara yes

✧｡ but because he prioritizes volleyball a lot more, he’s only at AR 36 while you’re on your way to AR 47

✧｡ he takes it upon himself to compare himself to childe, and you just have to go with it because tooru will not take no for an answer

✧｡ just to spite you he goes around saying “hey girlie” every now and then

✧｡ he’ll come up behind you quietly and whisper in your ear, causing you to jump at the sound of his voice

- uses all his brain power to estimate his primogems and when to roll 😭 fucking nerd

- judges everyone secretly for their builds secretly. if he's feeling like an asshole that day he'll join their world and give very passive aggressive advice that’s not advice

- speaking of which he takes advantage of EVERYONE'S world. he secretly steals their resources and dips immediately afterwards after promising to help them :^)

Darling, since I can't write that many characters in one go, I thought I should give you something special. I present... 💫 women 💫

Women of BSD as Genshin Impact players

tw: you're in bsd fandom, you know all the tw there are by now

Kyouka Izumi- Assasin in the streets, babysitter in the... Genshin Impact

Kyouka is that cute, stubborn kid that overfixates on things. Atsushi is things. Look, we all know Kyo-chan is mad intelligent and talented and it shows in her game play. Right off the bat she got the sense of the gameplay of every type of character and decided what works best for her. She knows what type of team she's going for and knows how to manage her materials wisely.

When she plays alone, Kyouka works towards bettering her characters and pushing through the storyline. Her favourite way to play the game is with Atsushi, whether alone or in co-op with others. Playing with Jinko is a huge win-win situation for her - she helps him beat up whatever he needs to take down and complete puzzles, he gives her praises and gratitude. And materials, but seldom does she take them.

Her main job, though, is to protect Atsushi and his world from the otherworldly evil known as the suicidal maniac, Dazai Osamu. She's fairly successful.

Main Team: MC, Klee, Keqing, Rosaria

Sub Team: MC, Qiqi, Fischl, Hu Tao

Mains MC, both for her flexibility with elements and because she likes being the little sister to Atsushi's male MC.

Yosano Akiko- retired nurse, now a terrorist

Did you really think she'd stay a healer without having the sadistic satisfaction of hurting people in grotesque ways? Nay. She doesn't have a single healer on team. She either has a teammate who's a healer like Haruno, or she wastes abundance of food until she can teleport to a statue of the seven.

Her game play is on crack, basically. She has several energy spurs, sometimes several times a day, where she rages through the game, before losing interest and going shopping. It's very possible with her that days can pass before she feels like playing again. Then she binges the game for hours and repeat.

When i say she acts like on crack i mean it. She has rage in her veins instead of blood. She tanks her characters and goes out looking for fights with worst possible opponents. Hell, she'll under equip her party just to see how many mofos can she take down in weak state. Spoilers, a fair few. She does die quite a bit, and is almost always out of food, but she's just as stubborn as she's crazy. Those two thing correlate probably. Which is why she made Azdaha her bitch. Her party consists either of strong, hot milfs women like herself, or twinks. You won't see someone like Childe disrespecting her vibe.

Main Team: Beido, Venti, Hu Tao, Rozaria

Sub Team: Lisa, Yanfei, Ningguang, Xingqiu

Beido and Lisa main. Bad bitches only.

Naomi Tanizaki- the fangirl player

She basically collects the cutest characters possible.. That's how she chooses her characters, based on cuteness. She went for the hot ones first to pull her brother but she got jealous and changed her tactic. You know she's spending her money on character skins and certain banners. She's insanely lucky tho?? She got Qiqi on the standard banner as her first 5*, pulled Klee on her banner in little over four 10 pulles and got Diona eventually anyway. Baraba and Xiangling were free and she mained Xiangling untill Klee rolled in. She spent some money on Venti and was already in pity when Ganyu came around. She's fully ready to whale for Kokomi though.

Now i know i said she's incredibly lucky, right? Yeahh that luck has to turn against something to keep the balance and well... she's still crying over Chongyun.

She usually co-ops with her brother, it's a daily ritual. Loves co oping with everyone though, mostly Haruno, Atsushi and Kyouka. She made online friends as well. Actually, there is one person she co ops with almost as much as she does with her brother. IchiGawa is her Genshin bestie and they talk about their crushes and infatuations besides the game itself. Her friend is the only secret she keeps from her brother.

Main Team: Klee, Diona, Venti, Barbara

Sub Team: Razor, Xiangling, Xingqiu, Qiqi

A Klee main.

Haruno Kirako- the healer

Literal angel. You need her, i need her, ADA needs her, the president needs her, just... yes. Her whole team consists of support- healers and crowd control characters. She was a f2p at first, but realised she earns her own money and can spend it however she wishes and she chose the monthly cards.

She's a necessity, point blank. She can get intimidated by new foe at first, but when backed up by her friends, she becomes determined and flexible. Pays good attention to her teammates, most importantly, their health bars, and acts accordingly.

The only reason most of them made it as far as they have, being as reckless as they are.

Main Team: Albedo, Barbara, Jean, Venti

Sub Team: Qiqi, Noel, Jean, Xinyan

Mains Albedo and Barbara

Fan fact: She's very fascinated infatuated with Albedo!! He's even her home screen and has posters and key chain of him.

Gin Akutagawa- that cottagecore assassin

You may be wondering what that could even mean. Let me tell you, she brought Animal Crossing to Genshin Impact. Sure she takes care of her characters and they're pretty powerful, but she kicks ass in real life as well. The game is her little getaway, especially since Serenity pot has been introduced. She's been making away her home for her and her brother characters. You can see her chop wood, collect materials, taking pictures with her friends and her brother, sometimes of pretty scenery and cute moments. A very wholesome player.

She's the type to help her friends explore their world and help them find oculi, open chests, shrines, collect flowers, mine... She's very patient, but if she sees her co-op teammates struggle with something, she'll jump in to help do it herself untill told to back off. In which case she will listen and silently give her support, usually with the cheering stickers in the chat.

She's f2p! Sure, she could get the monthly card at least, as Ryunosuke told her, but she really wants to enjoy the game on her own terms and have what she does through her own effort and hard work. It just feels satisfying to her and more personal.

Main Team: Jean, Ayaka, Diluc, Barbara

Sub Team: Doesn't have one! She just changes characters if certain elements are needed.

Jean main!! She admirers the relationship her and Barbara have. While she's the younger of the two, she's taken the mantle of the older sibling, in a way, and is looking after her reckless as heck brother and cares for him like Jean does for Barbara. Jean is also a wonderful person in her eyes and Gin harbours great respect for the blonde.

Higuchi Ichiyo- IchiGawa 🤡

I love Higuchi so much, but my girl is a mess and a half. Help her, please. No, really, she needs help. She's been over compensating for not being dramatic and eye catching in the battlefield, and has now found a new way to prove herself to her Akutagawa-san. Problem is, as soon as she sees a potentially powerful character, she has to get them and boost them to the havens... yeahh, good thing you can't do loans in the game, otherwise she'd have sharks on her ass for having a bill as dramatic and eye catching as Tsunade's from Naruto. Our girl out there turning heads for wrong reasons. She's definitely spent her pay checks on the game "oh no no, i just buy the monthly subscription, ehe" ehe my ass, you bankrupt bitch. Baal is coming and she's looking to sell a kidney. No, it's not her own and no, it doesn't have anything to do with the game. It's a mission, for God's sake.

But hey, the game is a good investment for her! She even made a friend, one that totally understands her how she feels!! They're very alike as well, ready to do anything for the person they love. The two talk about love a lot and have bonded over it. Higuchi is actually a jealous and a protective type of person, so she hides her friend from Gin and Tachihara like snake hides it's legs. If only they knew 🤡. But it's better this way as they both have a certain sense of normalcy and familiarity they were missing in their daily lives. (Higuchi and Naomi meeting scenario when?)

She mains Xiao because he reminds her of Akutagawa-san and yes, she uses characters from her sub team when playing with others.

Fan Fact: when she was asked why her username is IchiGawa, she said she's like a river 🤡 No, it does absolutely not stand for Ichiyo Akutagawa.

Ozaki Kouyo- the husbando and loli collector

Don't get the wrong idea when i said loli collector. She just needs to adopt them and look after them. She also enjoys watching her precious babies kick ass like her Kyouka. But that's a two way sword, because she gets angry when they die. Savage.

And yeahh, the real reason she's playing the game... Mr Zhongli. She switches often between eng and jpn audios because she can't decide which sounds sexier. Also, Mr Diluc? Yes, she would like to be served one sex on the beach please and thank you! Ah, Mr Kaeya, a perfect window of opportunity, yes.

She has a huge spot for the teenager group as well. Razor, Bennett, Fishl, Xiangling, Xingqiu and Chongyun are also her kids. She just finds them very precious (don't we all?).

Elise- the evil lackadaisical player

Mori found out about the game from Higuchi and Tachihara and introduced it to Elise, telling her she should make a team of sweet little girls like herself and have fun going on adventures around Teyvat. In response, Elise made a team that, not only does it not have a single child in it, but is using it to gaslight and bully Rintarou.

"Why aren't you smart and inventive like Albedo?"

"Why aren't you as passionate and persistent as Sucrose?"

"Look how capable, loved and admired Ningguang is. You could never."

"I wish i had someone as strong, caring, handsome and rich like Childe looking after me. He would treat me like a real princess. "

Thing is, Elise isn't even that interest in the story. Actually, she couldn't care less. Some characters are interesting to her and she likes the graphics, but other than that, she's mostly playing the game to torture the greasy doctor (as she should).

BNHA characters and their genshin experiences

I've been way into genshin for the past couple months, if anyone wants to play with me message me (I'm lvl 45 rn) but be warned I have shitty internet and am a partial razor main

but this is mainly characters I can see actually putting time into genshin

Bakugou

Mains: Yanfei

his main has probably been most every pyro character at some point

he wants diluc so bad, whenever someone else complains that diluc ruined their pity he wants to ruin their existence

before yanfei his main was probably hu Tao

hed definitely play klee if he had her lmao but he doesnt and is patiently waiting for her rerun

he has a lot of 5 star characters and is f2p, he can always get banner characters within at least the first pity, but for standard 5 stars hes gotten keqing and qiqi way too many times and hes livid

especially as a previous hu tao main, he was begging for Jean, still has yet to come home

hes probably a very high level, not fully maxed out considering he hasnt been playing all that long, he was probably forced to start when the rest of the bakusquad started playing it and he just took off

has really shitty artifact luck though, like his characters arent bad or anything but they could be so, so much better

and ugh hes livid

explores everything, has 100% exploration everywhere, but hes not bored hes still got artifact farming to do and he enjoys terrorizing enemies

in co op he will set you and everything around you on fire. cope.

Todoroki

Mains: Xiao or Ganyu

probably only started playing because Izuku asked him to

kaeya has also been on his team since day 1 and he is never leaving doesnt matter his friendship has been level 10 for weeks now who cares

was f2p until xiao, who didnt want to come home at all, and he finally got him on his 180th pull

now he doesnt care and will buy primogems whenever hes bored

he has a lot of constellations on kaeya and hes so proud of that, probably c4, is considering buying way too many primogems just so that he can hopefully get his c6

now his artifact luck is godly, you'll go into a domain with him and be like ugh I got nothing and hes like I got a 4 piece set with all attack or crit rate/damage main stats like haha I hate you

but yeah his characters are very strong cause of this, but he doesnt put effort into building a lot of them, he only levels up and gives good artifacts to his team and a couple other characters he likes but everyone else just sits there for a while

hes not super obsessed with the game, but he does think its funny seeing bakugou get so upset whenever they do domains together

doesnt even bother doing daily tasks really unless hes trying to save primogems

Midoriya

Mains: Venti

hes so good at building characters, like he looks up builds online and watches those "do INSANE damage with these tips" videos - and he sets out to get them done and he does

bakugou is once again livid whenever they play together, because Izuku barely has to try and can do so much more damage than him

he does have to put in a lot of work for his artifacts though because he doesnt settle for the okay ones he needs the absolute best

he builds his favorite characters the most ofc, but he evenly distributes things to other characters he knows can be useful- those characters might not have insane stats but they're still good

will not kill timmies pigeons, hell hunt birds in the wild for fun though

definitely a food hoarder

also does a lot of exploring and probably has at least 90% for each area

Kaminari

Mains: Lisa

he is 1000% in love with Lisa, he took her quest very seriously

and so many people say shes horrible, he hates it, hes made her crazy strong out of spite

his team consists of only his wifus- meaning lisa, beidou, rosaria, and mona

for a long time beidou was his second but then rosaria came along and hes like ugh big tiddy goth gf, but lisa still remains queen

these are the only characters hes built though, save for a couple like probably razor and xiangling that he used before he fully got this team

is an ayaka saver

he doesnt care too much about most 5 stars but will sometimes get them just to say he has them, but they end up just sitting there rotting away because he never puts work into them

he does have hu tao though and would get ganyu if she ever had a rerun

Kirishima

Mains: Diluc Razor or Beidou

they're all on his team, the last person switches out but it's most likely zhongli or childe

hes all about dps, support who, he just wants to hit hard and do insane damage , so yes he made dps zhongli

except his builds arent that great, with some help his builds are decent, but on his own hell be like ugh that's some sexy 300 damage

probably didnt know what 90% of the stats even meant and just put random attack ones on people and went yeah that looks good

doesnt really care though and is just having fun so hell play how he wants (as he should) but he does have to ask for help when farming bosses

loves exploring but misses so much, hell get distracted easily and end up just messing around

honestly probably hasnt bothered to ascend his world since he got to level 35, if he did the quest hed probably go straight to 45 and even then hed still have extra exp because hes been there for so long oml

but eventually he would have to and hed be trying to do it like :,) this is fine and it takes him a lot of tries but he gets there eventually,,, only to immediately have another one waiting for him poor baby

Mina

Mains: Klee or Xiangling

thinks baizhu is hot (and is correct) so shes desperately waiting for him

was a I must play 24/7 player until after the last story quest, then she got kinda bored but still plays frequently so she can save primogems and likes playing co op

goes into random peoples worlds a lot

shes got some pretty strong characters and is proud of her account

definitely makes tiktoks of her playing with the bakusquad cause it's always v chaotic (it's probably only denki and kirishima most of the time, but sometimes either bakugou or sero will join in)

does all the genshin tiktok trends

shes a pretty high level since shes probably been playing for a while and has most everything done

she loves helping lower level people though she thinks it's so cute and loves the power she feels when she one shots things

Sero

Mains: Xingqui

hes a pretty casual player, kinda only plays when hes bored or the others make him play with them

but his stats arent too bad, they're fairly average but he gets by

has so many primogems because he doesnt bother to wish on anyone, probably wants kazuha though

he does get super invested into the story though, hes so curious about the world and where the story is gonna lead

probably watches a lot of genshin theory videos and now he over thinks everything in the game

he explores a lot, not so much to find every single thing but more so just because he likes looking at everything, hes very excited for all the new places

Shinsou

Mains: Childe

hes a very thorough player, he explores a lot and puts a lot of work into building his characters

most of them arent all that great but he has plans to fix them

his main team is very well built, not the best, but still good

he struggles when he has to switch someone out for a domain or something because his other characters are so painfully mediocre right now and he feels so bad

shinsou, playing a character that can do like max 200 physical damage and biggest damage is like 2 thousand, repeatedly saying I'm sorry, I'm sorry, you deserve so much better, I'm so sorry

even if it's not the worst damage by far, he feels bad about anything under his main team's stats because they're just so much higher

broke. has no primogems. spent them all on childe and his constellations. does he regret it? well he sure does appreciate his c6 so- hell manage

yes he spent real money on his stupid mass murderer who he loves very much

fights childe every day even though he already collected the treasure, he is but a humble simp

probably decently lucky with wishing like he can beat the 50/50 almost every time

Tamaki

Mains: Chongyun and Sucrose

he only started playing recently, probably kirishima got him into it, but he immediately fell in love

kirishima was like tell me when you're level 16 so we can play together !!! and 2 days later tamaki was level 16 and kiri was shook because how the hell did he do it so fast

hates domains, the dread he feels when he realizes the lower level isnt going to give him anything anymore, and he has to move up to the next, and the next,,

asks kirishima to help him only to realize he isnt much help, is too nice to say that so he let's kiri keep trying- one day kiri gets deku to play with the two of them and tamaki almost cries because finally he can get through the level 90 domain and actually get things ugh

cannot get xingqui to save his life he refuses to come home and poor tamaki is so sad he wants him a lot hes even got all his materials saved up

Monoma

Mains: Ningguang

honestly doesnt play all that much but takes pride in making his account seem v good, is a whale

but hes very good at the game, didnt know what the artifacts were for at first and gave people ones based on how they looked but once he figured it out hes fixed them

is a very standard player, logs in every day to do his commissions and use his resin then logs out, he doesnt put too much time into the game and doesnt worry if he misses a day or two

worships ningguang, also really likes xinyan, his other team members are probably venti and albedo

has every single banner 5 star that has come out since he started playing, probably doesnt have klee though and is v upset about it, and is thanking the heavens for all the reruns lately

also doesnt have keqing and wants her a lot cause he likes her

accepts every single co op request he gets, and despite what a lot may think hes actually a very nice person to play with, not toxic at all - unless you're someone he knows then he might be mean to you shshshsh

Shigaraki

Mains: Razor

haha isnt it so odd that they sound so similar haha (if you dont know they have the same japanese va and I'm guessing hed play it in Japanese)

obviously he can be kinda busy ya know being a criminal and all that but when hes not he puts a lot of time into genshin

sadly doesnt have very good luck when it comes to characters or artifacts, but hes doing his best even with 0 primogems and his 50% crit rate

doesnt explore all that much, most of the exploring hes done came from him trying to get all the oculus

his razor is so good though, except that's the only character hes put tons of effort into

Ikerev Tips

I’ve been playing Ikerev for a while now. I actually first started this game 3 years ago, and I was just browsing through the app store, looking for nice games to play, when I first saw Jonah’s character cg.

A little bit of background on me now: I have a mole under the RIGHT eye. And I’ve noticed that it’s a really popular trope in anime/manga/games to have a mole under a character’s eye. But the thing is, almost every character I’ve seen with moles have them under the LEFT eye, and it frustrates me cuz we need to give right eye mole people some love. So when I saw that Jonah has a mole under his right eye, I knew that he was The One.

However, I guess the game didn’t really appeal to me at the time. I finished Jonah’s romantic route and Loki’s dramatic route and I loved them, but I deleted the game afterwards cuz no other characters appealed to me. However, 1 year ago, I picked up the game again, and I ended up getting REALLY invested in all the characters and became obsessed with this game.

I rambled for a while there. The point that I’m trying to make is that I have quite a bit of experience with Ikerev. And I thought that it would be a good idea to share some of the tips I’ve gathered over time.

IMPORTANT NOTE: As a f2p player, this guide is aimed more towards the other f2p players because I don’t have any experience with paying for games (I’m a minor and my parents would skin me alive if I spend money on otome games). So...I’M SORRY PAYING PLAYERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CUT FOR LENGTH

Gacha

-First of all, you’ll want to spin for at least 2 five star cards, because those are going to be a huge help in destiny duels.

-After you have your two 5 stars, only spin for the cards that you really, really want. Avatar gachas are worth more of your tokens.

-You can only really use two cards in destiny duels, but you can have a lot of clothing. It’ll boost your beauty score more.

Destiny Duels

-It’s popular misconception, but intimacy actually has nothing to do with winning or losing battles.

*It can be a somewhat helpful guide to determine how long a player has been playing, but it doesn’t guarantee a win or a draw.

-Look at your opponents’ cards first—make sure that they have at least one card that is a level beneath yours. For example, if you have two four stars, then make sure the opponent has at least one three star.

-If you can’t find an opponent with a card level beneath yours, then look at their avatars and try to estimate their beauty that way.

*So something that I found to be SUPER useful was to go to the avatar shop and get an idea of what clothing in each route looks like. E.g., being able to tell what’s Luka’s normal hairstyle versus his premium hairstyle.

*It also helps differentiate route clothing from event bonuses, because you’re generally going to want to avoid the people who have a lot of event bonuses.

-Also, write down the name of the people who you can beat versus the people who you can’t beat.

*If you can’t find someone who you can beat, then stop doing the 5 duels in a row thing and go through each opponent, one destiny duel at a time.

*I can guarantee you that you will find at least one person who you can beat, even if they don’t look like it.

Intimacy

-You really need to remember to use those intimacy potions. 

-Like, check your inventory once every few days to make sure you haven’t just left several potions sitting there.

*I really wish the game could just give us the intimacy directly instead of making us remember to actually use them. Sigh.

*But once you’ve got that covered intimacy checks will be a piece of cake.

Lin

-YOU NEED TO GET 50 FRIENDS ASAP!!! AND THEN GREET THEM EVERY DAY!!!!!

*Once you reach 50 friends, then every time you greet them all, you get 1,000 lin. Coupled with the lin that you get from successfully completing the destiny duels and also the ones from the login bonuses, you can pass every avatar challenge easily, including the one that requires 22,000 lin.

*A lot of people forget to greet friends every day, which is understandable. So something that I tried and really worked out for me is to set a schedule. Like, every time I complete a part in the story, I go and greet all my friends. It just helps greeting become instinctual. 

Magic Crystals

-Have a specific goal.

*I mean it. You have to have something that you want to achieve with magic crystals. For me, it’s getting both of Jonah’s birthday event stories when November rolls around (which will cost me 6,400 magic crystals), and I’ve got around 4,500 accumulated.

*It really gives a lot of satisfaction to see yourself working steadily towards your goal, and therefore give you more motivation to play.

*It’s always better to have a goal to work towards rather than spending magic crystals randomly.

- After you’ve set your goal…HOARD THE CRYSTALS. THEY’RE GOING TO BE HUGE HELPS NO MATTER WHAT YOUR GOAL IS.

-And after you’ve reached your goal, look for another one! Some options include:

*Getting all premium attire/unlocking all his side stories for your favorite character’s route (or for all the routes if you’re ambitious.)

*Level up your beauty to twice what it is now.

*Full clear on five different events.

*Save up for buying tokens when an event gacha that you really want rolls around.

*Save up for buying time-limited stories and/or attire.

*Have 50 Jonah chibis in your room.

Events

-Don’t get too invested in the events that you aren’t going to full clear on.

-You should always try, though.

*In story events, you can try to win destiny duels during lucky times to get 2x the amount of lin.

*In collections events, the bonuses are always worth going for.

-Also, save up at least 30 tea and cake sets before attempting full clear. You should also have a healthy amount of magic crystals ready to spend just in case things didn’t work out quite as expected.

*And don’t use those tea and cake sets until you’re at the last lucky time of the event.

*Anything can happen, so it’s better to wait a bit until you use those.

sadness over a3! eng i guess

oof just on my 700th day.....

kinda sad because of the announcement about A3! ENG server shutting down soon due to financial difficulties at LIBER/CYBIRD in the past two years (covid-19 related, etc.). according to a rather in depth reddit comment that had links to LIBER's publicly available financial reports + some financial reports from LIBER's parent company, Aeria, in english, covid-19 really hit LIBER hard since they had to cancel many money making events, from pop-up shops for the typical anime merch trinkets (keychains, plushes, pins, etc.) to the huge in-person events (voice actor meetups, the stage plays of MANKAI LIVE, etc.). due to shrinking player base on the ENG server + major loss of profits on both JPN and ENG servers, LIBER had to choose one or the other and they chose the JPN one, which i totally understand since it's way bigger there and the JPN fanbase will continue to give the franchise money more often. also, another person found a financial report/estimate from the google play store or something, and A3! ENG only made ~$20K to ~$10K in the past few months, which i guess is not enough to keep a server and localization company afloat. 

i got pretty attached to the characters and it was a great game to help get by during college. and honestly, while i am very sad about this, again, i understand why LIBER did this, looking at their financial report from 2020. I would LIBER save the entire franchise rather than shut all the servers down, making us all unable to see our favorite actors ever again, even if it means that we ENG fans will have to go thru the extra steps of finding/reading fan translations, wikis, etc., to read any further stories from where A3! ENG left off. still, A3! ENG's localization was something special. i'm saying this as a TKRB JPN player who read the wiki for all the character voice lines and then had to see the official TKRB ENG localization make Yamabushi Kunihiro a rapper for some reason? lol. it was....weird.... meanwhile, all the memes and slang in A3! ENG didn't seem out of place and all fit their personalities because 3/4 of the troupes were all high school to college age and 3 of them were ~Gamers~. Out of all the gachas i've played, i feel like the only other F2P gacha game that had this incredibly smooth, all cultural jokes/puns translated in a way that still makes sense/fits the character/doesn't require a galaxy brain and some TL note to understand, is probably dragalia lost and that's only because it has frickin Nintendo localizing/publishing it globally for CyGames. Nintendo. i'll eventually read the fan translations of A3!'s Act 3 on the wiki, but it won't be the same without Kazunari's super high-energy influencer slang of "'whoa fam! that's totes 'blammable, gotta take a pic!" or Itaru's gremlin Gamer speak of "lol get rekt noobs" or Tsuzuru's tired dying breath of "that ain't it chief." the appropriate slang and relatable meme speak of the localization really helped humanize these characters as people of their respective ages, rather than just a typical formal speak or some directly translated JPN slang -> ENG that turns out super awkward that can be found in bad localizations.

going back to the reddit comment too, the death of A3! ENG servers could have bad repercussions in the future for other joseimuke games. josei, if you for some reason have been in the anime fandom but still don't know this term, is basically the genre of stories/video games/media/etc aimed at women. it's the mature adult counterpart to seinen, media aimed at adult men. basically shoujo/shonen = elementary/middle school/high school aimed while josei/seinen = high school/college/adult aimed if that helps. Joseimuke is a part of josei that is not specifically romance. while some josei/joseimuke can overlap with otome, aka female aimed dating sims/romance media, they have many things about them that make these all separate genres. one of the official A3! ENG translators and a known fan translator of another joseimuke gacha, Mahou Yaku/Wizard’s Promise, minami, goes more in depth with this in a twitter thread. 

A3! was an actor raising game, and a big part of it was found family and relationships that were platonic. yet it got advertised as an otome, which has more connotations with dating sims and brings to mind other shoujo/otome games and anime where the cast is all high schoolers and the setting is most often in a high school. but, other than some characters making flirty jokes or implied to have crushes on Izumi/player character, many character relationships with Izumi are platonic and not romantic at all. Spring Troupe in the game also jokingly calls themself a family. the entire Mankai Company is basically found family. plus, since the game actually has time passing in story and the characters age with each year, half of the characters aren’t even in high school anymore. a large majority of them are in college or are graduated by now, with only a few still in high school. i’m not surprised if a reason that some people left the game was due to feeling bored with the slice of life/not romantic story, feeling that they were lied to about it being an otome, which was falsely advertised since it is a game meant for the older teens/adults demographic of josei/joseimuke.

i’m worried that other japanese companies will look at this shut down as a “josei/joseimuke doesn’t work well in the west” and never localize other josei/joseimuke gacha games like Mahou Yaku, EnStars, Twisted Wonderland, Helios, etc.

while i like otome and shoujo, i, as a 23/soon to be 24 year old college graduate and now tax paying adult, want more stories that have more mature themes and characters that are more my age so i don’t have to feel awkward when i’m playing some dating sim and i, a literal 23 year old adult, and trying to woo a 16 year old. it’s...a little awkward to say the least. i would gladly welcome more mature media that is categorized as josei/joseimuke.

sorry if this is all over the place, but overall im just sad that A3! ENG is shutting down. i don’t know if i’ll join the JPN server yet. i’m def going to read the Act 3 story via fan translators on the wiki, but A3! gameplay was...boring lmao. as much as i love A3!, im sure that the constant event grind/burnout and boring rng gameplay turned people off too and i dont blame them. i felt the burnout bad since i participated in basically every event since day 1. it. is. rough. i’m not joining the hellish thunderdome that is the JPN server and im not ranking anymore as a F2P player lmao. literally had to play almost every waking free moment to get into the 30%-20% bracket as a F2P person and i never got to top 20%-10%, much less top 1% lmao. i’m don’t whale enough lol. 

i feel like i should probably just. crack open my genki 2 textbook and uhhh totally legal pdf copy of tobira. so i can just. get the JPN version of games in the first place so i don’t have to worry about getting shafted since overseas fans are often considered expendable. 

i wish that, when any games that are online end, gacha or mmo or anything, anything online, companies will let fans archive things. or like. release a book that is just the story text or something. like. CYBIRD is letting us still technically play the game and have the story and all, but what if they eventually later shut everything down? why not just release a pdf/ebook that’s just the text of the eng localization for some money? i’d buy it. for nostalgia and rereads and all and also archiving purposes. i think i’ll try to help with any english localization archive projects if i can so that the hilarious and incredible localization that was a work of love from the translation team doesn’t just disappear forever.

that’s it for now. as i said, guess i’ll head to the app for one of the last times to read the last unread stories and mini stories i have left, then the wiki for Act 3, and then i guess i’ll crack open genki 2 and bunpo.....

Genshin shenanigans

So, I’m partial f2p in Genshin. I only buy the Welkin Moon and the Battle Pass once a month. I do not whale on banners; I did it once for Xiao’s debut banner...most painful $65 ever spent, never again. 

I skip banners on character I’m not interested in, even if I want the 4*s featured, I hold back...occasionally I’ll do one 10 pull if I’m interested in at least 2 out of the 3 4*s featured. So, I’m pretty good about saving up my primos. 

When Itto’s banner happened (i saved up for months), I hardcore wanted him and his weapon. I pulled on Itto first, naturally, and if I recall correctly, I lost my 50/50 to Diluc (C0). I ended up pulling and within I think 30 pulls I got guaranteed Itto. Yay! Now...I think I was down to maybe 11k primos? I was fighting the mighty urge...to pull on the weapon banner given pity and the system in it is very different from regular character event banner. But I was stubborn and I wasted all of my primos...sorta...I ended up getting Primordial Jade Spear...WHICH WASN’T EVEN THE FEATURED 5* WEAPON. It was Itto’s claymore and some bow, I can’t remember. It wasn’t a total loss, I own Xiao so I slapped that shit on him and I only had to do some minor adjustments to his artifact set. 

I kept pulling for Itto’s weapon until the very last day of the banner...every time i got 160 primos, a new wish...anything! I would keep trying. Needless to say, his weapon did not come home. I think I went up to maybe 70-ish pity. 

Since then, i skipped every banner after Itto until Yae’s and won 50/50 on day 1 of the banner being released. Banner currently has 2 days left, I’ve got roughly 10k primos (and 9 wishes)...I’m itching to make a 10 pull at least. Weapon banner interests me, I wasn’t aiming to get Yae’s catalyst, I kinda just wanted another Stringless and Sacrificial Swords cuz you can never have too many Sacrificial Swords. I did 1 10 pull...fucking Yae’s weapon comes in. What is this luck? It’s like this game hates me! Now, I’m happy! Don’t get me wrong, but I could have lived without her weapon, I was gonna slap Solar Pearl or the new f2p event one that is currently available on her. 

I haven’t leveled up Itto at all because I got so discouraged and feel like he won’t be good without his signature weapon (I know that’s not true...it just feels that way). 

Now I feel motivated to build Yae (hadn’t built her cuz I was trying to improve Raiden’s artifact set...but RNG gods aren’t being too nice to me right now). 

I’m still on the fence about pulling for Ayato, I’m waiting for Kazuha’s rerun cuz he is my top wishlist character right now (along side Mona and Childe). I’ve got time to think about it, there’s been several rumors that Kazuha won’’t be in 2.7 anymore but I’ll have to wait and see if that is true or not. Been seeing around that it’ll be Venti instead. 

I’m skipping the 2nd half of 2.5, I’ve already got Raiden and I’m not interested in Kokomi. I would like some Sara constellations but it’s not worth risking it since I’ve already got c6 Xinyan (which I don’t use) and c6 Benny boy (not activated, I stopped at c5).

Anyways, this was just rambles for myself, thanks for reading and if you happen to understand my slight frustration with this game. :’)

Obey Me wants to do Too Much and in an attempt to please the fans, it’s failing them instead.

Based on the post @1abbie7​ made regarding the common complaints players seem to have with OM and its choices as a game. I just wanted to put my two (very long) cents in while looking at OM as if it is the gacha game it truly wishes it was.

MAJOR DISCLAIMER: this post is based on my experiences and is not a reflection of the community as a whole. These are observations and personal thoughts and should be taken with a grain of salt. Also, please feel free to discuss or correct me if I have any of the information wrong. For reference, I’ve reached 5-3 in OM!, 9-2 in AL, and 6-17 in AK.

Now that we have that out of the way… ON TO WHAT I WANT TO SAY. Buckle in folks, I’m rambly and I have a lot to say. Obey Me! Has a lot of potential, and it’s a shame that a lot of things Solmare does are not helping it grow in a way that it could.

So this post is MOSTLY going to be comparing Obey Me!’s (OM) gacha and gaming experience with Azur Lane (AL)  and Arknights (AK) since I feel like both those games have a very good f2p model and don’t really have any PvP/Ranking system that affects the main gameplay. I will have other examples from other games that I’ve played before as well.

Ignoring any issues with storytelling and plot holes, since I feel like there are people who are much more qualified to speak upon that than I am, I’m just going to look at the more game and gacha experience.

EVENT SPACING, GAMEPLAY, STAMINA REFRESHES:

OM! As far as I know, is marketed as an Otome game with gacha and … Rhythm??? Game??? Elements? (I’m not quite sure how to even describe the ‘battle’ stages tbh) to break up the story stages. With the battle stages being the main way you can farm for materials to power up your cards, the bottlenecks that are built into the game are surprisingly super frustrating.

OM! Does not have an auto battle option, but it does make up for it by allowing you to sweep the stage once you’ve received 3 stars. This does make resource farming much quicker, but this also means that your stamina will disappear faster than ice in a desert. Coupled with the fact that the battle stages don’t really have much interaction or strategy for a good portion of the beginning of the game, there’s no real replay value in trying for older stages unless they have the resource you want to farm.

I guess I can let this pass since interaction isn’t what’s really marketed, but it IS important to keep your audience logging in and eager to play. At Level 40-ish, my current stamina cap is around 70. WIth the average stamina cost of a regular stage being 5 AP, and the hard stages being 8. This means you’ve got 14 normal stages and less than 10 hard stages in a full bar of stamina. Assuming I log in twice a day to get the bonus AP, that’s really not a lot of stamina to work with and just enough to maybe get through my dailies. 

Having that little stamina makes farming resources exceptionally difficult especially for the high requirements needed once you get about half-way through a devil tree. Add that to dealing with farming event points almost constantly, with your limited stamina pool, you’re pretty much forced to purchase extra stamina to meet the requirements to finish said events to get the rewards. Assuming you spend all of your daily Devil Point reward on Stamina, that’s only 180 stamina a day which makes for a really tight run IF you’re aiming to get everything in an event. 

ADDITIONALLY, this is also the fact that events and new lessons don’t seem to be announced prior to them dropping. Almost every gacha  game I’ve played before will give you a few days notice before an event drops whether it be via Social media or through in-game mail. This is to mainly generate excitement and allows players some time to prepare, whether it be hoarding what stamina refreshes they have or saving premium currency for gachas to hopefully get the chase card/unit that they’re looking for. Not being able to prepare makes it difficult to stay engaged considering you CONSTANTLY have to have resources/stamina to partake in all the events and you can’t plan accordingly.

AK announcing the current event two days prior to it starting in game and on twitter:

AL’s announcement on the 12th, almost a week prior to it starting. Maintenance was on the 17th when the game reset.. (In game notices update regularly and I don’t have a screenshot of what it would look like since maintenance has already passed.)

OM! basically giving people on twitter about 24 hours notice of a new event dropping followed by announcing that the new lessons are available on the day it drops:

I understand that OM! Devs may want to keep the new cards a surprise to players. If stats and skills played a more prominent role in the game, maybe there would be a better way to tease these events to build up hype. As of right now though, it feels like a surprise slap in the face to force players to purchase currency in order to maintain that stamina requirement. IF Solmare is adamant about having back-to-back events, at least provide players with a roadmap or a calendar so they can pick and choose what’s important to them.

Just… Don’t let it become like the FEH calendar…

In my opinion, it feels like OM! Has a bit of an identity crisis. It sorely wants to bank on the money making powers of a gacha game while also clinging to the claim that they’re an otome game revolving around the plot. It’s hard to really promote the plot when it’s locked behind a power requirement that a majority of players will not be able to reach.

With how difficult it is at the end game, players are most likely going to look for transcripts or screenshots of new lessons instead of playing the main storyline in order to save what little they have for the constant limited events. Either give the players time to recoup resources to prepare for your events so they can pull for all your new cards or lower the difficulty cap to give players the story you’re emphasizing so much. 

Tl;dr: back-to-back events will burn out players and not announcing them prior does not allow players to prepare resources, forcing them to drop money on the game. The amount of stamina it takes to complete an event AND level your cards does not make it f2p friendly.

GACHA RATES AND PITY SYSTEM:

Call me spoiled, but I feel like OM! ‘S banner rates are too low. Consider the following image for the current banner pool:

That’s a combined 1% to get your UR and that’s still not going to be guaranteed to get what you want. Consider the following rates from other games:

Azur Lane:

(Ultra Rare was a new rarity that was added with this new banner. Before that the highest rarity you could pull is a Super Rare)

Arknights: 

Fire Emblem Heroes: 

Final Fantasy Brave Exvius: War of the Visions

For a game that’s always introducing new cards, you’d think that OM! Would maybe consider raising those rates so people won’t be so heartbroken when they don’t have enough currency for a 10 pull. (Especially if they have been spending what Devil Points they have on stamina to complete event stages) Yes, a majority of banners have bigger pools and  the chance for a specific 6*/UR/SSR is ultimately lower; but considering in OM!, you have stories and characterization locked behind devilgrams connected to these cards, the rates are pitifully low. At least in the other games listed, the units/cards/operators/ships aren’t tied to stories. 

I will say, the pity system isn’t absolutely abysmal. Keep in mind though, this is based on the assumption that you’ve saved up for 100 pulls. Considering how difficult it is to save that much currency while being f2p 100 pulls per banner is a tall order and impossible without the help of goldie or somethin. The frequency of new cards along with the difficulty obtaining gacha currency creates an extremely predatory model of currency purchase. With no guarantee of when event banners will be rerun, you’re pretty SOL if you make it half way through this pity system and you’re sitting on shards you can’t use. 

Players will get tired of this model mega fast. Especially with these kinds of rates. Assuming that your luck is the worst on earth, you need 2,700 Devil Points to reach the pity breaker. That’s more than two packs worth of Devil Points. So we’re looking at over $160.00 USD to get a guaranteed UR. Seeing as new banners come what feels like every two weeks or so, you’re looking at over $300.00 USD a month JUST for the gacha. If OM! Was purely a gacha game without such a heavy emphasis on the characters and the stories/scenarios they unlock, I might be able to overlook it. However, since the cards themselves unlock cheats for events and outfits and devilgram scenarios, that’s a steep price to pay, so I kinda just have to say… Yikes.

Tl;Dr: For a game that has so much content tied to limited cards and events, gacha rates for OM! Feel too low. Pity system is average as long as you have the currency to complete all 100 pulls. The reason to purchase premium currency is predatory and likely will not be sustainable in the long run. 

MONTHLY PACKS AND PREMIUM CURRENCY

So, we can agree that if you don’t have some cash on hand, it’s not going to be a real fun time to play OM! So, where do you spend your money? Let’s take a look at what they offer in terms of premium currency and how far that will get you. It’s also almost 3AM here and I’m losing my patience and filter, so excuse me if I sound more angry here than in the rest of the post.

So, here’s the basic Devil Point Shop for reference: 

If we equate Devil Points to stamina, you’re looking at about 100 stamina per dollar you spend. But let’s be real, Solmare makes their money off of gacha and them pretty pngs ‘cause y’all want those spicy devilgrams and sweet outfits for your secretary.

To even get a 10 pull, you’re looking at $22.00 USD worth of premium currency. (Why they didn’t make the $19.99 pack a full 10 pull is BEYOND me tbh.) Now most gacha players that I know who are willing to go all in on a specific banner will want to spend a pack, which means they’ll go for the most expensive option as it is the most bang for your buck. That’s an $80.00 pack for approximately 4 10 pulls and some change. Let’s compare that to the price of some Originite Prime from AK: 

It takes approximately 33 OP for one 10 pull in AK. 1 OP = 180 Orundum (currency used for gacha) Keeping this in mind,  if you don’t count the first time purchase bonus, at first glance, it’s overall more expensive to purchase this currency SOLELY for gacha purposes.

Here are the packs offered for AL: 

If you’re using gems to purchase the cubes needed for the gacha, it takes about 600 gems for 1 10 pull. One pack will net you about 8 10 pulls. Out of all the models we’ve looked at, this is honestly the most value for your dollar specifically for gacha purposes.

Take into consideration what the premium currency is used for. As stated above, 1 DP = 10 stamina. 1 OP = 1 Full stamina refresh in AK, so that’s a pretty equivalent exchange rate. (I won’t go into the AL stamina and gacha system since it differs too much from OM! To really make a good comparison.)

But, what else can DP do? A quick glance under the “Items” tab in the shop, you’ll see that it can also purchase Keys to read your devilgram stories (integral to your gaming experience), Demon Vouchers for summoning, Glow Sticks to help you in battle (Integral to gameplay), and consumables for your Surprise Guests to raise intimacy (arguably connected to gameplay). Compare this to what you can purchase with your OP outside of summoning currency in AK: Furniture (cosmetic) and Skins (Cosmetic). That’s it. 

What I’m trying to say here is that Solmare has made DP the currency for so many things that affect the game itself. This subtly pressures the players to purchase DP in order to maintain the same quality of life that they might have experienced at the beginning of their gaming experience when the level ups came fast and when the rewards were plentiful for completing all the beginners quests.

“But wait!” you say. There’s ways to earn DP passively through dailies! You’re right! You’re given 18 DP per day for completing your dailies. That equates to 1 10 pull per 2 weeks if you’re diligent in keeping up with all your quests and log in daily. Comparatively, AK will give you 2,800 orundum per week for completing all your quests and the weekly annihilation runs, so just short of 1 full 10 pull in the game. However, AK gives you the specific currency used exclusively for gacha. This leaves your OP relatively free to be used for stamina refreshes, or you can hoard them for when new skins come out, or you can use a few to supplement your missing orundum for a banner pull.

Without knowing what could be coming up next in terms of events and banners, OM! Makes it very difficult for you to hold onto your DP due to the sheer stamina sink that events can be. Unless you’re really good at optimizing your resources, you’re likely going to be spending DP on things outside of gacha, making it difficult to save those 20 pulls in a month.

Tl:dr: DP is used for too many things that aid in gameplay which leaves less for gacha, forcing players to make a choice between moving forward in harder story stages or unlocking card specific stories.

Alright, but let’s say you don’t have enough for packs, but you still want to support a game. You don’t wanna whale ‘cause you got bills to pay, but maybe you’ve got enough to be a minnow or a very sad and small dolphin. For this, most people turn to those delicious monthly packs. Usually, the monthly packs or subscriptions are really a good bang for your buck. Usually, the bonuses that these packs provide will add up to a value that is much more than your initial investment in them. So, let’s look at what OM!, AK and AL offer, shall we? 

Let’s break down what the VIP gives you since there’s quite a bit and it’s presented in a less condensed format. So, at first glance, I have to ask… “VIP login bonus?” What does that even mean? When you look at the details the description is as follows:

I’m sorry, what? This vagueness will not help sell this pack to me. Most monthly packs will give you premium currency right away that is equivalent to the amount that you paid. You can see that both AK and AL list this and also let you know exactly what else you get for the next 30 days. There’s no vagueness in what these packs provide. 

Next thing to look at:

I’m sorry. What? I don’t understand why a max AP increase is the choice for a VIP perk here. This is banking on the fact that you’re going to be playing at max efficiency and will be under max stamina in order to take advantage of the refill timer giving you the extra AP. Why OM! Doesn’t just give you the stamina in your mail is beyond my comprehension. This is just saying “yeah, you could have more stamina if you’re playing this game and making sure you’re below your cap. I … no. Just why.

NEXT PERK: 

No. This is useless for higher level players. Perks should benefit all players, not just your new players that you’ve tricked into spending money ‘cause this pack is only $9.99 a month. I’m so angry at this I don’t want to look at this anymore. NEXT.

This is a fine perk. Paying for easier passive resources is fine. I don’t have anything to say.. Next.

Oh thank fuck. An actual good perk. Passively getting the harder to get resources which cuts down on your already limited farming? Hell yeah.  Also fine in my book. NEXT. 

“Spend money to spend more money! Because we know this monthly deal ain’t shit!” is all I’m getting out of this.

Finally, I need to talk about this: 

So… you’re telling me that for $10.00, I’m going to get $6.00 worth of DP and I won’t get the full value unless I STAY subscribed? If I cancel and then resubscribe, will that go back to 60 DP when I subscribe later? Why would you do this other than to give your players less than what they deserve? These packs are supposed to be designed to give you the value of your purchase and some extras as incentive to keep playing and coming back to pay. This just… as a first impression leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

Also, let’s talk about the fact that you’re BILLED MONTHLY? Listen, I get that they’re trying to be ‘convenient’ so you can set this up and forget about it and reap the benefits, right? It’s about the same cost as a Netflix subscription, no big deal. But listen, that means they’re also banking on you to forget you even have this subscription if you’re a casual player and you’re going to continue to give them money Stop that Solmare. Bad.

I’m too tired to look at sales. Just as a quick glance. the discounts and deal are meh at best.

Tl:dr: Monthly pack is underwhelming and likely not worth it. Automatically being billed monthly is the worst thing I’ve seen all week and this was written in 2020. 

SOME SUGGESTIONS? IT’S NOT ALL BAD, I PROMISE.

So, how can Solmare improve? OM! Is honestly one of the most stylish otome games I’ve seen and has a lot of potential to continue growing its player base if the devs directed their energies in the right direction. Right now, OM! Suffers due to the fact that it’s trying to do too much in too little time. For a game that’s less than a year old, it’s pushed out enough content in the last three months to last six. Dialing back the gacha and collecting elements to focus on the story and a slower pace would really help, if you ask me. 

OM! Really needs to slow its roll. Events are losing their impact from being rolled out at such a quick pace on top of current pop quizzes, new lessons and banners. Every week I feel like I’m watching the more hardcore players yell at having too much to do when everything is layered on top of one another. This is not inherently a bad thing. Having a lot to do keeps the player base engaged and excited for your game.

The problem arises when you’re not giving your players any time to recover from events and just throw things at them all the time. Finding a good balance between events and downtime is difficult and it likely won’t happen overnight, but it would be nice to see them maybe give a week or two to really let the impact of events sink in and let players really find time to nurture or use the new cards/rewards they just got.

First step in the right direction would be giving more notice prior to events and lessons. Just something more than 24 hours before, or the day of. Not providing a notice makes it feel like these things are being rushed. 

If Solmare is adamant about keeping the pace it’s set up, then give us a roadmap or event calendar of when new lessons or pop quizzes are coming. They can keep the details of the lessons and quizzes limited until closer to the actual dates, but at least this will let players prioritize where they want to put their resources.

Gacha rates for URs being raised to 2% would likely make a reasonable difference. When so much story and cosmetic content is tied to a UR or SSR cards along with their frequency, it serves to likely benefit them to make it more accessible to players. Locking so much behind luck and a paywall makes it more obvious that they only care about the money that they can get from the diehard collectors in the game.

Make skins obtainable by DP. Stop locking them behind event cards. Allow players to have easier access to cosmetic features. It’s a less predatory model than what they’ve got right now. Granted, Lonely Devil has sort of helped this issue considering they’ve grouped event reruns all in one place to play at your leisure, and if I remember some of the event cards have skins tied to them. Still, just… idk sell the skin on its own. It makes more sense than to pray that you roll that UR with the one 10 pull you have. 

Make resources easier to obtain passively. I’m sure I sound like a broken record, but limited resources make this game difficult to enjoy. You’re barely through doing one thing to level up a card and you’re met with a giant wall of requirements for the next step. AL has commissions and the dorm, AK has the base. OM! Has Jobs, which gets you grimm and some items if you’re lucky, but it definitely needs expansion considering the power checkpoints late game.

Hell, just making some of those DP purchasable items actually farmable might help.

Get a publisher to work with you. I know Solmare has been around the block and this isn’t the first otome game they’ve made, but I definitely think working with a publisher who’s familiar with the ins and outs of a proper gacha helping them will benefit them. Having a publisher will help ensure that there’s adequate funding for the game to be as good as it can be. Not only that, you’re looking at a better social media presence which the player base can interact with and get more attached to.

 Literally, having a publisher could solve so many pacing and announcement issues since they would be in charge of when events come out and likely has a better eye on how players react. This way, Solmare can concentrate on making the content as quality as they can and not inundate people with a new lesson or event as soon as it’s done.

Tl:dr: Solmare, please get a proper publisher so they can help with quality control and balancing your game. Please. I’m begging you. You have so much going for you please don’t let this game die before it turns a year old.

I’m so sorry if none of this made any sense in the end.  I’m sure there are points that I’ve missed out on like stage replayability and a more engaging battle mode, and the lack of any sort of meta which makes the lower rarity cards you pull feel completely useless…  but uh… I can’t think anymore and I haven’t had time to farm in my horny ship girl game. Playing Genshin Impact at the whims of one nutcase (Childe)

Important preface: I’m a relative F2P player. I’ve bought two Welkin packages, but otherwise I don’t pay to win.  

Prologue - 11:11PM in Barbatos’ hands 

Back in November of 2020 as the game was still in its wee stages, I decided spontaneously that I wanted to obtain gratification in the form of the limited 5* banner character that was available at that point in time. His name is Tartaglia, codename Childe, also known as Number 11th of the Fatui Harbingers. I wanted to have this gratification so bad that pulling Tartaglia in a single pull on his banner recurred in my dreams for three consecutive nights. And on my third dream, dream-me was so lucky that he even brought along a Diluc with him. 

Anyway like any healthy and only mildly-obsessed fan would, I worked the game as hard as I could to earn the buttload of primogems I needed to hit pity for Childe’s banner, and researched extensively into 5* drop rate analysis in all the languages I knew. In the game I wished religiously at 11:11 whenever I could, because they marketed that as his lucky number - and even broke my F2P virginity and bought a single Welkin package, which is the first time in my years of mobile gaming that I’d ever spent real dollar in a game. 

On the second last day of his banner when I was really coming close to hitting the soft pity - because that’s how difficult he was being - I ran around Stormterror’s Region unlocking achievements and finding Anemoculus to obtain more and more primogems. Since 11:11 pm was coming up and I was in Mondstadt anyway I decided to head to the Venti statue outside their church and wish for my first guaranteed 5* while looking down at that beautiful city view. 

To say I was devastated would be an understatement. It took me weeks to regain composure from that. And even though Jean would turn out to be a highly valued character on my teams, I would carry a chip on my shoulder for the following months until the prophesized banner rerun - which back then, god knows could have taken anywhere from 6 months to an entire year. 

Chapter 1: Growth and happiness in the arms of another - the graceful Kreideprinz 

Because I am petty and can hold extremely long grudges, I then proceeded to boycott his story quest and the Freedom talent books as well as the Hydro element in general. I did all the other characters’ story quests except for his and would not step foot into Northland Bank again until April of 2021. I became an Electro main (because my RNGesus has a disposition towards Electro characters) and developed my other characters until I was well and truly an endgame player, spending my days hunting for Crit crowns, ascending peeps to 90, and challenging the Spiral Abyss until my eyes and fingers bled. No Hydro. No freeze or electro-charged comps. Nada. 

Within this period of time I also found happiness with my first true limited banner 5* prince who would never let me down - the beautiful, graceful, and ethereal Albedo. With him (and Keqing) by my side I no longer climbed mountains - I simply elevated myself up their sides. Did you know that Albedo actually uses DEF artifacts - thereby making his ideal build a lot less of a pain to achieve? Did you also know that his talents requires Narwhal Tusks? I’ll get back to this subject later.

Chapter 2: Bizarre Childe-biased luck from my RNGesus 

You know the superstition about how you should never bring the character that you’re raising into the fight for their talent materials - because the game’s RNGesus has some kind of sensor for that, it picks up on it because it knows that’s your weakness and will never ever give you the specific talent mat that you want? 

To this day, I have received less than ten Narwhal Tusk drops from Boss Childe. He’s a bit of a sick fuck in that he almost exclusively rewards me with his ridiculous looking Shards. I have played this game for six months. In all this time Albedo’s talents have been capped at 5/8/8 because I never have enough tusks on hand. To further contextualize this, I’ve never used a single Wolf Tail drop from Andrius in these six months either. On the day that this screenshot was taken, Boss Childe had the audacity to give me another two of his Shards. I’ve already been using those shards on Mr. Childe himself (talents 5/8/7) and yet I still have more Shards on hand than I have Wolf Tails. 

And that’s not the only place where the sonnofa RNGesus acts up. As though it had foresight of which characters I wanted to develop into DPS (hint: my Electros) it just refuses to give me good Thunder Fury artifacts and Electro DMG cups - and by good I mean 5* ones with at least 1 Crit stat and at least 1 scalable stat and EnergyRe. 

I know this damn game will never allow me to possess a good 4-piece Thunder Fury set. I just know it. 

In contrast it dropped me the likes of these god-tier artifacts - presently equpped on Tartar, previously catching dust - that any Hydro character would be over the moon to have. He’s using a 2pc Gladiator and 2pc Heart of Depth. That’s a DPS build that happened without my deliberate farming for it - but rather because my RNGesus decided it to be so. 

Chapter 3: Got my dues with hard pity... and more 

When the developers first unveiled that Childe’s banner was making a rerun I was ecstatic. I looked forward to the day of finally being released from my self-imposed vengeance against Hydro and Freedom and Childe. I wanted to have him already so that I could move my full attention onto wanting other things - like Scaramouche. 

Because again this is a scheduled and guaranteed pity I picked a nice place to welcome him - Yaoguang Shoal - and wished until Lucky 76. The famous Lucky 76. The first thing I did was pump him full of level up steroids and give him the Breath of the Wild-looking bow. Now that he’s armed I decided to fuck around and shoot some random Hydro Cicins that were buzzing nearby. 

Within 5 minutes of joining my roster, Tartar flukes his way into the exact achievement that I had just recently been actively trying to pull off with Diona. I had been sniping hilichurls from far and baiting ruin guards with my little cat girl. I am a mobile player using the shortest archer in the game. It never worked, I don’t know what I wasn’t doing right. But Tartar did it. I don’t even know what he hit. I couldn’t see it on my small phone screen, and I really don’t think those Hydro Cicin flies were it. It is 100% without a doubt a fluke. 

In the next two weeks Tartar will continue to tap into this uncanny ability of his. Somehow or the other he will find his way into 10 different chests ranging from Common to Luxurious. As an AR 55 player with 85 - 90% map completion rates in Mondstadt and in Liyue, I have had no expectations in ways of finding new chests from three months back. I just didn’t expect them to be around anymore. And you know how only new chests spawn primogems? 

All the chests Tartar found spawned primogems. And also he found a ducking Geoculus. 

And it wasn’t just in the over-world gameplay where he was a big show-off. I was back in Spiral Abyss again for the money and the gems, and thought about bringing along my new Lvl 80 5* with his Lvl 70 bow into a fight (1.4k ATK) - just to get a feel of a freeze comp in action for the first time in my life.

This lunar phase, he snatched the title of “Strongest Single Strike” from right under my nose. From under Beidou’s nose. From under Kaeya’s nose. Like with the Marksmanship achievement, I didn’t get to witness this magical moment when it happened. His burst-camera panning is more obnoxious than most. It whips around real fast and sometimes the enemies are further away, so more often than not I don’t see numbers and end up thinking that I missed. Heck, the last lunar phase this crown was on Beidou’s head at a 31k record. I had initially attributed this 59k to her again because I didn’t look close enough at the character icon. I was patting myself on the back for finally, finally doing my pirate queen justice, in spite of the pathetic amount of Dragon Breaths that Dvalin had thought to give me. 

Now thinking back about what could have happened, I do remember setting him up for success on a double-fire team helmed by big daddy DPS King Kaeya so that Tartar could just swap in and drop his burst at the right moment.

The audacity of Tartar taking this title is hard to put into words. It’s objectively a great thing but the thought of my other 4* DPSes not being able to pull that off in spite of all the grind that I’ve put into them for so much longer is just... Well, it’s something. 

All of this is happening and Tartar’s only been here for 3 weeks. He’s obviously got a nose for chests and some kind of intuition for greatness that is above and beyond. In a way that’s almost meta, or fourth-wall breaking. None of my other five stars had ever been this, well, obnoxious. 

Chapter 4: An F2P’s meticulous math-based 4* and 5* limited banner strategic gacha planning - unless....? 

And the story continues. First of all, I’d been looking forward to Yanfei all week. I always want more Pyro characters and in her test run she was like the most agile catalyst user I’ve ever used. I even said out loud “feels like she has DPS potential”, which is crazy because I brought Lisa and Ningguang to 80 and developed their talents, but could never quite find a DPS rhythm with either of them.

My mind is made up about Yanfei. I knew that her BGM appealed to me for a reason. It is Day 1 of Zhongli’s banner, and there is tangible excitement in the air. Everybody is online, we’re all playing Sims. There’s even a new artifact domain to crack, even if the bouncy bois inside triggered terrible Spiral Floor 12 flashbacks and even though I don’t really need them, I’m just extremely intrigued by the Pale Flame set and its lore.

But all I got was garbage Pale Flame pieces. I swapped to co-op, and that was when things picked up speed. Most significantly, Tartar brought home this beautiful Tenacity of the Millelith flower back from the domain. 

A scalable HP stat on a flower from a HP set! Wow! You know, my people don’t really have use for the Millelith set, except for Bennett. I showed this to my sibling, who mains Zhongli, and they said that this is the exact piece they were hoping to score for their Lvl 90 Geo Archon. 

Looking back at it retroactively, this was the probably the first sign of what was to come. Second, if you count the Geoculus Tartar found earlier this week. But in that moment all I could think of was how I wished it’d been a Pale Flame piece instead. I could give it to the C5 Rosaria that Childe had so kindly brought home. She’s not even seen the light of day, because as a physical Kaeya main with a 4pc Blizzard Strayer set, physical damage cup and the Aquila Favonia, I’m literally the last person who would find use for a character like Rosaria. 

She’s hot though. And speaking of Rosaria, I’d used my previous ten rolls on Childe’s banner, hoping to C6 the good sister, or to be surprised with a Diluc, or to even own the bragging rights to a C1 Childe. Not that I needed his C1, or even think that F2P players should own C1s of any limited 5*. I was just feeling greedy. I thought, well, he kinda still owed me for the past six months, right? I had to be so frugal and exercise so much discipline like you can’t imagine. Watching Xiao and Hu Tao slip through my fingers. But the only thing that came home from those ten rolls was C6 Barbara. Fine. Message received. 

But on 1.5′s launch day, I was anxious to play with Yanfei again. I believe she could really spice things up. She’s fun, much like Hutao was. And so even though I usually waited to roll ten singles at once, I decided that I would use up the 5 balls I had in my inventory to single-roll for the game’s newest Pyro user. I was 45 rolls into a soft pity anyway, and I didn’t think much could happen. I usually go to meaningful places to wish for the characters I want, but in that moment I had just defeated Andrius with my sibling and with an above-average performance from Tartar. I pressed the button to wish once. 

Tartar???????????? Are you high?????

I’d ducking skipped the meteor montage because I assumed it was just going to be another piece of nothing, so no, I didn’t get the forewarning that this meteor tail was in fact golden. At this point the way I miss crucial moments of god-tier RNG in my game is becoming something of a running joke. 

What about Yanfei??? What about that leaked 5* from Inazuma?? He’s getting all that “oh he’s just a support DPS” chatter like Albedo this but I heard that Beidou likes him so I was starting to want to get him for her??? What about Xiao’s rerun banner - Xiao whose voice actors are so amazing that I actually spent half my Childe-rerun banner fund on (spoilers: I lost the 50/50, got Keqing C1, and saved the hard pity for Tartar. I really went over the edge for Xiao)?? What about Diluc or Mona?? What about the Scaramouche banner of my dreams??? 

I hate to put it this way because I have nothing but love and respect for Zhongli/Morax/Rex Lapis - his character, his design, his elegance, his story, his dragon voice (Eng VA), his poet’s voice (Chi VA), and his very very fine ass - but this was not a good 5* drop. Not for F2P me at this point in time, when I’m still exploring the game with my newly acquired Tartar (he’s only three weeks old!), and raising him and Keqing to their ultimate levels - alongside my backlog of high-constellation 4*. 

Here’s what my greatest 5* drop was - the Aquila Favonia, my one true god. Why? Because I never wanted for it. I never desired it in the first place. And I never saw it coming - it came home completely randomly at 62 rolls into soft pity on the standard banner. A literal star from the heavens. And it is specifically the greatest possible 5* weapon I could have ever asked for, the perfect missing piece I never knew I needed for my physical build Kaeya - who’s actually been lucky enough to constantly receive the right boss mats from Andrius to develop his talents. My Kaeya was already DPS-ing like a maniac. Now whenever he’s on the floor he’s hitting things left and right like the beast that he is. 

Listen, Tartar. You want this man so bad - you can go get his ascension and talent materials your damn self. Because lest you forget - and all thanks to you - I’ve only had a single Narwhal Tusk in my inventory for months.

And I mean more than just bringing home god-tier artifacts for him - like this ducking feather from my final domain run of the night. For crying out loud.

Dear cheesy-sensei 🙇‍♀️, i NEED advice!! Do you have any pointers to give on how to survive and keep surviving in MLQC??? After reading your posts about the new chapters i'm kind of panicking... I'm struggling already getting through chapter 14 😭😭 at this rate i feel i won't even make it to chapter 25 😓. I can't spend ANY money on it.. do you have a battle strategy? Like on farming gems, stamina? Obtaining/maintaining karma and the likes? Please teach me oh great and noble cheesy-sensei 🙏🙇‍♀️🙏🙇‍♀️

Hi, hi pamakali! So sorry for the late reply. You know, time zone difference and all that. Plus, I wanted to give a good thought to your question before answering. The last thing I want to do is give you half-assed information. I'm not really used to giving game strategy advice but I'll try my best.

I would say the key words are patience and restraint.

Patience because you need to amass your resources. Don't just rush into the chapters. Take the time in between unlocking each chapter to work on your cards. Do your 24-hour challenges everyday. Do the Heart Trials and unlock as many stages as possible (Note: I suggest unlocking the new stages on Sundays because you get double the rewards). Get all of the free SSRs (And when I say this, I mean only get the ones available in 24-hour challenge. Do not use your Heart Flowers to redeem for the SSRs available in the Wish Tree shop. The reason being that, in the future, we will have an option of redeeming for Refined Shards which are used to evolve an SP. Plus, you may chance upon those karmas when pulling during an event). Star them up to the max. Fully ascend your strongest SSR (And maybe two more to just below the Skill Node) Again, do not unnecessarily ascend Karmas because you will need the materials for an SP. When ascending your SSRs make sure to choose one of each suitor. You can preferentially fully ascend the karma of your favourite suitor, but make sure it's the one with the best stats. (The reason I'm saying this is because, after chapter 21, the shooting stages have character buffs which will require you to use a specific suitor's card to get a better score)

[A temporary fix to your problem of being stuck at Chapter 14, could be to fully ascend an SR card. I chose to fully ascend Kiro's Albatross card which gave me some pretty good stats. And still does, at the moment. For Execution, Gavin's Fierce Battle card is also really good. Or Lucien's Afternoon Sun. Or Victor's Anticipation card.]

Do your City Strolls every week (EDIT: Each suitor's city strolls' has three parts to it. Only after completing all three parts will you be able to obtain 100 gems as a reward) and don't miss out on a single day of doing your daily missions (This includes your mini-house missions). Don't miss out on using the redeem codes that Elex puts out on their Facebook and Twitter pages. (Yes, you need to check out both these sites because they sometimes give out two different codes). If there are certain event Karmas that you absolutely want, calculate and see how much you will need to save up according to an estimated time frame. But, if you can, try and refrain from Wish Tree events until the Chinese Wedding SP event.

(If you're up to it, try getting Shaw's karmas whenever possible because if you can't manage the character buffs, Shaw's cards can cover you in that area; him being the special character that he is 😂)

Restrain because you need to control yourself from spending gems (and gold) unnecessarily. What do I mean by this? I mean don't spend them on unnecessary things like stamina, karma promises (obtained from starring up karmas), memory stardust (only use the gold pool and your free gem pulls to get this) or any other items that you could obtain through other means.

[About gold: Do not spend your gold in levelling up your experts. Use your medals. And level up only one expert once per day, for the sake of the daily mission. Use the gold only for starring up, evolving and pulling from the Gold Pool. (EDIT: Using medals is applicable only to those who crossed the level of an elite investigative expert. Until then you will have to use your gold)]

Don't even try to spend your gems on pulling cards from the gem pool unless it's an event and you can guarantee at least one card. For now, I suggest not spending your gems and galaxy wish coupons on anything except the wedding SPs that will come out in between January and February.

The thing about SPs is that they are notoriously difficult to evolve, especially for F2ps. You will have to guarantee yourself at least two more copies besides the main one to evolve it to stage 4, only after which will the card be useful in battle and you can also unlock the complete date. Before evolving it to stage 4, the card is basically useless. That being said, an SP is only at its ultimate best at stage 10, but the requirements needed for evolving it from stage 5-stage 10 are relatively much simpler than getting it from stage 1-stage 4. It's okay if you can't guarantee a copy but it will take you much longer to evolve it, probably even months (a fate that I have resigned myself to because of my impulsiveness during the Halloween event 😩)

But anyway, this is as much as I can tell you. Hope the advice helps. I apologise if I missed out on anything.

Note: There is a lot here that I haven't talked about. For example, the use of Heart Clefs in Karma Ascension. But that is only because I don't understand much about the mechanism myself. I probably will once I reach that stage.

my experience playing Arknights for one week

i said i wouldnt pick up another gacha... but i really had to find out i could re-roll for SilverAsh.. and fast forward, it has come to the point i really want to play this game a lot and love it that i have to talk about why it’s so good

GACHA ASPECTS

first, the gacha is generous. you will always get a 5-star from every banner within your first ten rolls. you can also buy a standard 5-star and/or 6-star operator from the shop with in-game currency you either have to farm or save for with yellow certificates. these come when you roll a new operator from the gacha or from a weekly game mode called Annihilation. they dont come easily though but you can save for them

you get to recruit new operators for free too, you just gotta wait every 7 hours and 40 minutes if you want a 3 to 5 star. then if you get a special tag, set it to 9 hours so you can get a guaranteed 4 or 5 star

Annihilation is a mode you can do to get originium, LMD, and battle records depending on how many enemies you kill in a single run. so the game incentivises you to power up your operators so you can roll more since.

the reason why you would probably whale or be made to roll and save is getting copies of the 6-star because the more copies you get, the more they’d be cheaper to deploy. that is not a necessity though. another is sanity/stamina. people buy gacha currency to either play more, farm more, or speed up factory production

every operator is viable including the lower rarity ones. so dont feel that you wasted on one leveling them because they would all be investments especially. dupes can also make them cheaper to deploy so the more copies you get for them, the more they would most likely be in your squad for a while. once you get more than 6 too, they become currency which you can use. also cheap to raise with early to mid-game investment. they also learn a trait which can be a great asset for your RIIC or base! for example a maxed out 2-star can have the best type of base buff

the husbandos albeit few are eye candy. i hope as time goes we get more new sexy male operators. but honestly, the advantage is it will be easier to save for their banners. there’s also no male tax because they arent underwhelming and are really great units. in fact the S+ tier unit to this date (in NA at least) is SilverAsh and he is a catboy husbando who you can re-roll for free. you wouldnt get to experience his full glory though until you’re far enough which is level-gated by a well-leveled arsenal of operators

SO MANY REWARDS and give-aways!!! like this game is so generous. it has a cumulative login, consecutive login, monthly login, weekly login, campaign login, and event login omg. you also get rewards from missions and leveling servants. so many incentives are given to power-up your servants. its so newbie and f2p friendly

GAMEPLAY

when you have to farm experience or materials, there’s the auto-deployment function. so if you perfectly cleared it (3/3 rating) without using a support, you can just start the node with the function and leave it on the background. this may not guarantee 100% success though as sometimes your operators could die from a stray crit but luckily you can take over if an error risk is detected. so you dont have to go through the tedious process of doing it all over again. you can also overwrite that error

the difficulty spike happens not too far into the story that you will be forced to level up your servants and try out different strategies going out your comfort zone. this includes improving your base, leveling specialists, etc. you’d also be encouraged or forced to think outside the box because some maps can make certain specialists shine, so dont underestimate your crowd-control and shift operators as they can make the defense easier.

the game is so flexible. there isnt a fixed strategy, it’s well-balanced where every team could flourish. it really depends either how properly leveled they are and your gameplay.

you cant get carried by an S-tier support and you are forced to be independent. for one, their max level is scaled to your highest level operator. a friend support can only go so far but it’s your whole squad that matters so make sure they’re all properly leveled and youre proactive in activating their skills, withdrawing one, replacing, managing timing, etc. also, clearing without a friend support is what will allow you to auto-farm the node

you can practice any fight! so if the node seems to be difficult, you get 30 free practices per day, so you can assess or simulate if your operators are ready for the challenge. and if by chance you fuck up your official run when you start it officially the first time, you can leave and the game refunds all the sanity/energy you used! it will only start deducting sanity the more you try so use your practice drills wisely

besides the tower defense main gameplay, there are many things you can do to diversify your experience from setting up your base, designing your dormitory in your base with furnitures, etc. managing your operators and maintaining efficiency and workflow. a great base is what will help you generate income and experience to level up your operaots

many materials but nothing too overwhelming. the game gives you a good idea and guides you on where to farm them or how to get them. you can just click the material and it will tell you where to get those if you have completed the map. it will also tell you what node to complete if you havent. so you will never get lost

ART and SOUND

the ART! it’s so pretty omg from the backgrounds to the operator designs. also despite being predominantly filled with waifu operators, their designs are not fanservice. there’s like hardly any tiddy window. their body proportions are realistic. they’re all dressed up practically for battle

the soundtrack is sooooo good! i really love the vibe even the home page. it’s relaxing to hear you can leave it on the background. the battle music is also really nice

STORY

it is really engaging!! it is rather a slow burn and everything seems to set up to a battle every time but it does not feel too repetitive as we learn new things and the game is able to make these encounters realistic and connected to the story. the events are fun and make you learn more operators who are featured too. it’s very thought-out

TL;DR:

there are so many aspects about Arknights that makes it a cleverly designed Tower Defense Game: generous rewards/gacha, interactive gameplay, well balanced operators, farming convenience, aesthetically pleasing art, etc. If you are looking for a game that will get your mind working, Arknights is so worth it. Give it a try cause I wish i joined sooner, but hey, it’s never too late!

Alright, Here’s my Ballot in it’s entirety. All 7 votes and 7 Characters that I voted for who I like. 

1-Hrid: Okay, I love Hrid and I’m sad that we’ve haven’t seen any version of him since the second NY’s Banner with him on it. And his sister’s have gotten alts after that! (Bride!Fjorm, Summer!Gunnthra and Summer! Ylgr.) And even the Muspell sisters have gotten alt’s since then, too! They have summer versions and Laevatein just got a Ninja alt! WTH.  

I hate it. I want more Hrid. I want another Helbindi. Give my boys more alts than just one!(Not counting their base forms as alts)

He hasn’t even been in any Forging bonds or ANYTHING and his sisters have been in them. Well, Fjorm and Ylgr at least I don’t know about Gunnthra.

And i’m not hating on the girl characters, I like Fjorm and Ylgr and all them I just wish IS would give the guys more love instead of focusing on giving the girls all of the alts. 

They’re all Simps. That’s what they are. SIMPS.  

I have a lot I want to say about Hrid but this will be VERY long and I don’t want it to be longer than It’s going to be. So..moving on for now...

2-Marth: Really, The only reason I voted for marth is because he’s been down in 3rd for the past few years and I really want to see him get his Brave Alt finally.

And then he’ll be out of the Options for Brave units and there can be a lot of other choices.  

And as much as I love Gatekeeper I don’t want him to get in, but  if he does gets in then he won’t be able to come back next year and the slot will be open for someone else.  

If Gatekeeper somehow doesn’t hold second place then people are just going to vote for him next year. 

Well, Back to Marth..I did diverge a bit...I haven’t played the games Marth is from but I know him from Smash, Although that being said I do like Marth and I actually have all versions of him. Normal, Groom, Legendary and Winter Marth. I HAVE THEM ALL. 

I don’t have Resplendant Marth but I probably never will because I don’t pay for this game. F2P Dangit.

Anyway, I really just want to vote marth not just because I want to but because he deserves a Brave alt and he’s gotten robbed of it the last few times we had CYL.

Moving on to my third and I’m probably the only one who voted for him-

3-Ryoma: I love Ryoma. I’ve married him in both Birthright and Revelations, but when I got to the dreaded chapter 25 of Conquest, I probably cried harder than my in-game character did. 

I played Birthright before playing Conquest and I can say if it weren’t for Ryoma’s existence I probably would’ve gone Conquest first. I did buy Conquest first and played through the first few chapters before the split, but when It came to the split I stopped when I realized I couldn’t choose the Hoshido side, and that was one of the things I didn’t like about the game. 

I did eventually finish Conquest, but that’s only after I played through Birthright and...I actually liked the route a lot. Now, Originally I wasn’t going to go with Ryoma, I was actually originally going to marry Kaden or Kaze, but ended up with Ryoma because of his Honor and the way of the Bushido.

I don’t know what it is about characters that have the Honor and Bushido trait, but..I guess that’s my type?? Which is probably why I like 2003′s TMNT Leo a lot.  

Alright again I could go on and on but I don’t want to make this a too long of a post so moving on-

4-Alfonse: Okay, Alright..This one could be long too but I’m going to restrain myself. 

 Well, I’ll say it. I like Alfonse. Especially in book 3 when he stood up to Hel. That was amazing! I hope he does that as well in this Book with Fafnir or..Otr? I guess whichever one. (I did like Otr when he was first shown but now I’m not so sure...)

I really want either a Legendary or Brave Alfonse, and I would love to see what they would do with him.

And this will probably never happen but a Duo alt with Hrid would make me very happy. (Like a Summer Beach Volleyball alt with Alfonse holding a beach-ball and Hrid holding Ice-cream to cool themselves off. Oooo I’d draw that but I’m not a good artist, sooo.)

Okay Okay, I said I would restrain myself and I am. I’m moving on before I rant about Alfonse some more.

And the next vote goes too...OH. The other character I could rant all day about.

5-Grima: Yes, GRIMA. Not the Female Robin Version but Male Robin. 

This is another type I like but It’s nice character’s who’ve been possessed by evil beings, or give themselves to darkness? (Like Jesse/Johan from Yugioh GX?? Or Riku from Kingdom Hearts?!)

Although I actually like the actual Dragon form of Grima more than the Robins and would like him to have his own human form instead of possessing Robin, but i’ve never played Awakening and don’t know if there’s a reason for that.

Having them come out with a Halloween Alt for the Female version makes me a bit hopeful for a Male alt but not a lot because apparently IS just likes to make all the alts for girls and not guys?? Like please I want more of my favorite guy characters with alts. How am I supposed to Simp for my favorite boys when the don’t even give them alts?? Like Hello?? There aren’t just guys in the world who play FEH there’s girls, too??

But let’s be honest, Even if we get another Male Grima will he even have the exposed Tid? I don’t know and that scares me. 

Once again, Just give me my boys, IS!

6-Scarlet: Hoooo Boy Scarlet. So I was a bit jealous of Scarlet in Revelations when she was talking about Ryoma, and then I felt bad a few scenes earlier. 

Which made me wish I had completed her bonding events in Birthright, I only ever got up to C rank.

Uhh, So I voted for Scarlet because I realized I’ve just been voting all guys and even though Eirika and Byleth are in the lead I’m still voting for the characters that I want. 

And scarlet is one of them. I know it wouldn’t be enough to get a brave alt but I wouldn’t mind if IS gave us normal Scarlet or a certain other Alt that comes later in the year but before Brides and Summer that I won’t talk about. 

I did like Scarlet in Birthright and in...Revelations...and after what happened in Revelations I felt really really bad for her? 

I hope she gets in at some point. I would actually summon for Scarlet if they put her in. However she gets in.

7-Orochi: Orochi. Needs. To. Be. In. The Game.

Out of all the fates Characters we have, I’m surprised we still don’t have Orochi. I don’t remember well but I think she’s one of Mikoto’s retainers?? It’s been a very long time since I played fates so I don’t know. 

Umm...That’s pretty much the only reason I voted for her. I love Orochi and I’m sad she’s still not in the game yet. 

This is one of the few times I want IS to give me a female character, the other would be Scarlet and probably Nyx if I had another vote. But..well...Hmm..

Okay, That’s all the votes and the rough and hopefully short enough explanation of why I voted for each character. 

I’m tired of writing, my hand’s getting cramped so if there’s something I need to add I’ll do it later. Gotta rest my hands for now and probably watch people try and Summon for Seiros. 

(Who I did not get but I got Legendary Dimitri so I’m happy)
