The solution to characters of color popularly having their canon personalities erased to make them boring as an excuse to not create actual content of them is not to turn them into, and i quote,'feral gremlins'.Please just treat poc like people oh my gods

Jason Todd and Hunter Noceda-Deamonne have the same fandom problem in the sense that they have excellent writing and genuine redemption arcs but unfortunately they're surrounded by poc and women and especially woc who're important to them with pretty much bo revelant white characters that aren't their antagonists and that gives their hardcore stans media blindness thanks to seeing them as edgy white boys and nothing else so to them their casts may as well not exist and they just can't help but feel like they'd work better with other white boys and plainer white girls and for the woc to not exist outside of them-And mind you,'Noceda-Deammone' as a last name for Hunter isn't even an actual tag despite Camila and Darius being his only parental figures. This is pretty bad for Jason and Hunter themselves because it erases them as good examples for how white people should behave around and treat minorities who're constants in their lives and also just generally makes them not as interesting due to it being used to turn them into power fantasies and packaged tropes and nothing but quirks and this is exactly what white DC and Toh fans want for them since they refuse to grow up and get angry at woc and kids of color in the fandom in particularly for not caring for their behavior because they're used to us taking it lying down
Very happy to have to be the one to tell you this but Hunter never even looking in any white boys direction in favor of Gus' mutual found brotherly love with him, only ever loving Willow, being adopted into Camila and Luz's family,Darius becoming dad who never hurt him unlike Belos and never rivaling Amity over Luz because a boy and a girl looking at eachother once isn't a love triangle and Jason not giving two shits about Tim because he's too busy being bros with Duke and Damian, rejecting any white girl who tries to throw herself at him because he wants Rose,Artemis and Dana and choosing Talia and Stephanie as his mother and Batgirl without ever considering anyone else isn't 'wasted potential'.Us-meaning the people who their stories are actually about, the poc and girls and girls of color you refuse to let exist-telling you stop being bigots for your dogshit fics isn't 'harrasment'.You just don't get what you want this time so SUCK IT UP like you always tell us to after coming into OUR spaces

The Dragon House AU
A self-indulgent AU with my OCs. It's a lot, so please take your time going through it.
(Original Role - Replacement)
Luz Noceda - Akari Hisakawa (OC, “Akari” is Japanese for "light" or "brightness")
Edalyn Clawthorne - Robyn Long (OC, cursed with the dragon curse)
Raine Whispers - Vitimir
Darius Deammone - Hettie Cutburn
Eberwolf the Huntsman- Mason
Lilith Clawthorne - Wilder Long (OC, One of Robyn's older brothers, a small personality change)
Dell and Gwendolyn Clawthorne - Alto and Giselle Long (OCs, Robyn and Wilder’s parents)
Terra Snapdragon - Darius Deammone
Adrian Graye Vernworth - Raine Whispers
Amber, Katya, and Derwin - Edalyn, Lilith, and Morton
Amity Blight - Kenzie Zamora (OC)
Willow Park - Orion Cutburn (OC, Hettie’s son)
Augustus Porter - Yule Fiedler (OC)
V/Vee - III/Ree (pink basilisk)
Masha and 2 human friends - Purple-shirted friend of Vee, random human, and Luz
Morton - Huxley Long (One of Robyn’s older brothers)
Boscha, Cat, and Amelia - Bria, Gavin, and Angmar (They hold themselves higher than the weaker students)
King Clawthorne would be renamed to Malik.
Hooty would be renamed to Scaly and have a dragon motif.
All of the palismen change to fit the witch, aside from Hunter, who still receives Flapjack and then Waffle through Dell’s new apprentice.
Jacob Hopkins, The Collector, Papa Titan, Osran, Steve, Emperor’s Coven members, Kikimora, Hunter, and Belos are the same.
Location Changes
The Dragon house is located outside of Latissa, deep in the woods. It’s a treehouse with a spiral staircase around the tree to the top. It’s situated on one of the bigger trees in the forest and connects to other buildings in the trees with bridges.
Hexside is switched out for Glandus High, along with the students, teachers, and principal. The detention track exists here as well as a separate classroom.
Everything that happened in Bonesburough now happens in Latissa, and vice versa, the coven scouts are just a bit more prominent.
The hill that Raine and Eda sit on is swapped with a cave in the woods where Vitimir and Robyn hung out in school and later in adulthood.
Blight Industries and the Blight Manor are switched out for Zamora Technology and the Zamora Estate.
The Looking Glass Ruins are swapped out for a jungle temple that is the resting place for the most powerful Bards. It holds their most powerful instruments and guarded by a large manticore. It is located east of the Titan’s skull on the shoulder.
Series Changes
Akari would have a single father instead of a single mother. His name is Mamoru Hisakawa. They also have a tradition for the other parent’s birthday since they passed away.
Orion would be in the Oracle track with Kenzie before being changed to the Healing Track. Hettie did this because she didn’t want him to be ostracized for being a Cutburn.
Robyn turns into an Eastern dragon when cursed and into a Dragonborn when he comes to terms with his curse.
Robyn gets his elixirs from his brother Huxley, who makes and sells them in Latissa at his own stand.
Instead, we experience how Glandus would have handled the greater basilisk if they had a human at their school. They win in the end.
Wilder cursed Robyn because he thought it would encourage him to join a coven and get healed. It backfired very quickly and horribly.
Robyn, in his cursed form, injured Alto to the point of making him unable to play the violin and make instruments.
Wilder turns into a wyvern when cursed (larger than Robyn’s cursed form) and into a Dragonborn in the epilogue.
In flashback sequences with the Long family, Cillian and Huxley are present, but do not speak (Robyn’s other brothers).
Cillian comes to the Dragon House instead of Giselle and tries his own methods to drive out Robyn’s curse. He wants to try and fix everything because he’s the oldest.
Flashback moments with Robyn and Vitimir are centered around potion-making and playing hooky with Vitimir’s work (Platonic with a few romance moments, not dating).
The BATTs are renamed to PATs (Potions Against Tyranny) and CATTs are renamed to CATs (Covens Against Tyranny).
When fighting against Hettie and Mason, Robyn and Vitimir create a ‘super potion’ that will stun their attackers when coming in contact with Robyn’s curse via playing the violin.
IFWOT/HECK is not how Robyn and Vitimir meet. Instead, they meet in school where Robyn approaches Vitimir. Darius (same age as them) and Hexside’s Grudgby team is there for a game and problems ensue.
Orion and Hunter are not shipped together, just friends/brotherly who bond when the Emperor’s Coven arrives at Glandus to brand the students. Orion is 13 years old, Hunter is 16 years old.
Robyn’s human disguise name is Gerald. He hides his ears and horns with a big cowl and his tail is hooked to his belt like a chain.
Darius begrudgingly plays the part of Robyn in the Collector’s “Dragon House” game and makes fun of him for liking Potion brewers.
Kikimora goes to Glandus disguised as Miki and her Abomatron as Roka, students from St Epiderm. She builds her empire there with those students.
Hunter, with Orion, would be greeted by Mason and Hettie when everyone is turned back to normal.
Hettie, Mason, and Vitimir team up with Zamora Technology and Blight Industries to find a way to remove the sigils. It turns out successful.
Unchanged Parts
Gravesfield is still the location of the portal door, therefore Akari and her dad live there and Akari goes to school there.
The portal door is found buried in the ground.
Belos’ past (whatever we have of it) is the same with Caleb and Evelyn, and slowly taking over the Isles with the grim walkers he made with Caleb’s dead body.
The Emperor's Castle, the Conformatorium, and the Archives locations do not change.
Training on the Knee still happens, just with Akari, Robyn, Kenzie, and and Kenzie’s cousins.
Palisman Adoption Day still happens, just at Glandus High.
Time-traveling to the past to meet Philip Wittebane with Akari and Wilder.
The Titan Trappers exist and still want to look for the last Titan.
Hunter leaves the Emperor’s Coven after going through Belos’ mind and learning about his true intentions.
More students start learning multitrack.
Hunter tells the school about Belos’ Draining Spell plans.
The Coven heads still fight on the Day of Unity, the roles are just swapped.
No matter how, Vitimir’s hat gets cut in half at the Day of Unity.
Robyn’s arm gets pulled off during the Draining Spell.
Belos enlisted the help of the Collector for the Draining Spell, and did not keep his end of the deal.
S3E1’s events happen the same way.
The Archives get built over the Titan’s head.
The Collector’s backstory is the same.
The Titan gives the human his remaining powers to help stop Belos.
Dell still gets an apprentice and hits his goal to replenish the palistrom trees with the Bat Queen.
Extra
Hettie changed Orion’s last name to Pines to keep him safe from Belos (Reference to Gravity Falls).
Yule is in the Bard track playing the cello. Their dad works as an author and was in the Illusion track.
Kenzie’s parents are the biggest manufacturers of crystal balls in the Isles. Their company is called Zamora Tech.
Her mother is in the Illusion Coven and her father is in the Oracle Coven.
New Palisman with witches:
Robyn has a brown griffin palisman named Ginger.
Kenzie has an orange moth palisman named Squeak.
Orion has an forest green Aesculapian snake palisman named Basil.
Yule has a gray jumping spider palisman named Lucas.
Akari has a yellow axolotl palisman named Hibiki.
Wilder has a white porcupine palisman named Spike.
Alto has a muted green manticore palisman named Brutus.

The PATs wear steampunk-inspired lower-face masks and goggles. Vitimir only wears the goggles.
Their outfits are also to help conceal their identities.
Giselle is in the Healing Coven and has been trying to use different healing methods on Robyn’s curse.
Alto is in the Bard Coven. He used to teach young witches how to play certain instruments and used to hand-make instruments.
Glandus High’s principal is trying to diminish the whole “Strongest students at the top of the food chain” thing. It’s not going well, but he’s trying.
Wilder, after leaving the Emperor’s Coven, starts working a job that studies extinct beasts on the Boiling Isles.
When Robyn and Wilder’s curse starts showing, they sprout scales on their skin the same color as the scales on their tails.
Robyn’s personality is not like Eda’s, so his way of teaching magic is a bit different, but still strange to Akari and everyone else.
Of the Glandus Group: Orion is the youngest (13), then Akari (14), Kenzie (14), then Yule (15), and Hunter is the oldest (16).
Vitimir uses his corrosive breath to fight against the spreading mold from Belos when he possesses the Titan’s heart.
Kenzie’s cousins live in the Palm Stings, but enjoy visiting once in a while to bug their cousin and help their aunt and uncle.
Akari and Kenzie confess to each other and start dating after Scaly tries to get them together.
Akari also comes out to her dad as bisexual and is accepted.
Kenzie has a job at Latissa Inn at the Front desk and the Inn’s IT witch. At Zamora Tech, she tests out their beta versions of new projects.
She dyes her hair from dirty blonde to Oracle purple after she loses her job for leaving her post. Her real hair color is black.
Scaly is still an anomaly to the Glandus group and to Robyn, despite being a house demon.
During the Apocalypse:
Most of the Boiling Isles inhabitants were turned into puppets.
The Collector and Malik play “The Dragon House” game.
Robyn, Wilder, and Malik stay together as the Collector thinks Robyn is still in his cursed form.
Glandus High is being run by the students and Bria with “Miki” helping her.
The Glandus Group was thrown into the Human realm, then found a way back to the Demon Realm.
Darius plays Robyn in “The Dragon House” game until he steps out of line and gets turned into a puppet by the Collector.
Darius, Raine, and Eberwolf are the three who want the throne while the Isles is being rebuilt and are scared off by Hettie and Mason. Eberwolf sneaks back to touch the throne before a scalpel is thrown at him.
Time-skip stuff:
Akari and Ree graduate high school and Akari goes to the Boiling Isles for College (all majors).
Orion is a nurse at his mother’s clinic taking on a Dr. Frankenstein role and part-time Flyer Derby player.
Hunter works with Alto to create instruments that younger witches can play.
Alto and Giselle are seen at their work with Orion and Hunter.
Wilder and Scaly get to work at the University of Wild Magic for Abominations. Wilder also gets his Dragonborn form.
Kenzie works at Zamora Tech with her (now divorced) father as head engineer.
The Glandus Principal is still at Glandus, mostly diminishing its student rules.
Vitimir, Hettie, and Mason collaborated with Blight Industries to help create a machine that removes sigils.
The Manticore from the Jungle Temple is living peacefully, now with cubs.
Yule is a big musician who’s released a few albums.
Robyn works with his brother Huxley to produce an elixir that helps ailments and lasts longer.
Robyn gains a mechanical arm to replace his disintegrated one, made by Zamora Tech.
Vitimir gets a palisman.
The group celebrates Akari’s birthday as she starts college in the Boiling Isles.
Malik shows Akari his new light glyph.

From the Gremlin that brought you the Angel/Demon AU comes a new, albeit unrefined gem...
SCP Owl House AU
Not very clefdraki centric but-
Here is what I have so far
Kondraki faked getting his beastkeeping sigil and is a wild witch living in the toes. He dabbles in illusion magic also. He found an old school camera at the beach once, fixed it up and figured out how to use it. I dont know if 408 should be a hivemind creature that hangs out with him or his palisman
Draven attends St. Epiderm in the Abomination track. His scholarship is covered by Darius Deammone, who took him under his wing as his personal prodigy. He plays flyer derby on the side, his palisman is a beetle.
Clef is either a basilisk or a descendant of the titans i havent decided they both have Lore Potential
Same with Meri tho they find her later on
Iris, Talloran and Adams are students at St. Epiderm and Draven's friends Adams is in the construction track, Talloran and Iris are in oracle. Iris wants to study illusions too, kondraki is her mentor on that front
Kon found Clef rummaging through his trash once and decided to keep him. They fall in love at some point idk
The main reason Talloran is in the oracle coven is because they're haunted. Might be lore relevant later depends on the final episode
Honestly I didn't put much focus on the other doctors for this au. I think Iceberg would be in the potions coven? Maybe hes like kikimora that would be funny.
I also toyed with the idea of kon having a curse that slowly turns him into a flock of butterflies but im,, not sure about that
Anyway feel free to add onto this i am microwaving them so hard

Day 3 of Hunter Aroace Week | Coming Out
CW: Arophobia mentions.
@goldenentrails
The days on the Deammone house were quiet and calm. Hunter liked them: The routine was simple and steady. There wasn't a lot of noise. And even if it had taken a bit of adjustment at first, he already felt ready to call it a home.
So, it wasn't a normal occurrence for Hunter to feel uneasy inside the house.
And even so, there he was, sweat drops running down his neck and hands shaking, while he thought about how to approach the subject.
Logically, he knew he shouldn't be nervous: On the Boiling Isles, witches hadn't the prejudices that humans had against queer people. Darius would understand.
But feelings were strange and unlogical. So, there he was, the plate in front of him untouched and his mind on another place.
“Hunter, are you alright?,” asked Darius with a raised eyebrow. “You look pale.”
“Yeah, I’m just… Distracted. That’s all,” Hunter took a bite of his food: It had gotten cold, and the lump in his throat made it difficult to swallow.
He looked down.
Even on the times when Hunter believed he could trust Belos, he knew that talking to him was like walking on eggshells. That if he didn’t prove his worth, he was completely useless to his “uncle”.
With Darius, he didn’t have to worry about proving his worth or not. Darius had been the reason he started coming out of his cage. The first adult to give him affection without expecting anything in return.
And even if he was officially a Noceda and nowadays only stayed with Darius on school days, he was like a second parent to Hunter.
“What if I lose him?” Hunter thought, swallowing another bite.
What if he disappointed Darius? What if he believed he was just faking it for attention? What if he pitied him? What if he thought he was broken? What if-
“Hunter?” He looked up. Darius was staring at him with a concerned expression. “What’s wrong?”
Oh.
Oh, he was crying. Hunter hadn’t even noticed when tears started falling down his cheeks.
“I…” Hunter hiccuped, “I…”
He passed a hand through his hair as he took deep breaths, trying to calm himself. After a few seconds, he finally felt composed enough to speak.
“I need to tell you something,” he finally said. “Something important.”
Darius listened silently, nodding.
“What is it?,” he asked.
Hunter took a deep breath.
“I’m… Well, recently I discovered that I'm… Aroace,” Hunter fidgeted with his fingers as he spoke, “I mean, aromantic and asexual. Like… that I cannot love or feel sexual attraction.”
Darius took a deep breath.
“Oh, thank titan.”
Hunter raised an eyebrow, confused.
“What?”
“I thought you were going to confess to me that you murdered someone or something at the style,” Darius said, relieved. “I would cover you up if that happen, but I’m glad it’s just you being aroace. Congratulations on figuring out, by the way.”
“Oh, thanks.” Hunter paused for a few seconds. “So you don’t think it’s… weird?”
“What? Of course not. Why would I do that?”
“I… I don’t know.” Admitted Hunter.
Darius smiled and got up, ruffling Hunter's hair.
“Well, nevertheless, thanks for telling me. I appreciate it.”

"You'll regret what you did to my cloak!"
FULL NAME: Darius Daemonne BASED ON: Darius (The Owl House) FACE CLAIM: Brian Michael Smith PRONOUNS: He/Him BIRTHDAY:  August 21, 1983 CURRENT STATUS: Taken
Character Information || CW: Transphobia ||
Darius was born on the Boiling Isles in a town called Palm’s Sting, located on the hand of the Titan. His parents owned a small general store that serviced residents with reagents and other magical ingredients. Sorcerers by trade, the Deammon family did not participate in the traditional paths of a Boiling Isles family, homeschooling their children in the ways of magic and staying uninvolved in their covens, though they did join to avoid a fuss. More than anything, they wanted to keep to themselves and continue the family business, which is what was expected of Darius and his siblings. However, the young sorcerer had other dreams. He wanted to learn about magic in its fullness, go to school like the other children, and become something great, rather than withering away in obscurity on the furthest reaches of the Titan. This caused a lot of tension with his family, particularly his parents, who did not accept his wishes, nor his blossoming gender identity. Eventually, Darius took life into his own hands, enrolling himself in Hexside Academy and moving to Bonesborough with nothing more than the clothes on his back. While Darius did struggle for some time, it wasn’t long before he caught the attention of a sorcerer who would change his life forever. Caleb Belos, the Golden Guard of the emperor himself, found young Darius doing his Hexside homework on the streets, and decided to take him under his wing. He not only saw great magical potential, but also a kid in need of support, which he was more than happy to provide. He gave the boy a place to stay and helped him find his footing in magic–as it turned out, he was particularly gifted in Animation and Abomination magic. Due to his connections, it was easy for Caleb to help Darius join the Animation and Abomination coven after his Hexside graduation and quickly, he climbed his way up the ranks to eventually become the coven head. For a time, Darius was a dedicated coven head, loyal to the emperor and doing his bidding without question. Then, one day, Caleb disappeared without a word. According to the emperor, his Golden Guard had filed for retirement, and left the Isles to live the rest of his life in secluded peace. It would have been a heartbreaking revelation for Darius, had he believed it. But he knew Caleb better than anyone, better than the emperor himself, and he knew this story had to be a fabrication. While he spent years trying to figure out what actually happened to his beloved mentor, the mystery eluded him and he was forced to carry on business as usual.  Eventually, the Golden Guard was replaced by a new relative of Belos–Hunter, a young boy eager to please. Darius watched on with distaste, but soon began to notice patterns similar to Caleb, particularly in how the emperor treated him. So when Hunter disappeared to Swynlake, he began to fear that history was about to repeat itself. Under the guise of researching abomination magic for the emperor, Darius now finds himself traveling to the small English town to keep an eye on his mentor’s successor. He’s enrolled himself as a professor at the local university, again, to further his “research” and keep up his ruse. But what might he discover in this new, strange world?

Hoodwinked - Chapter 5: A Golden Haired Tutor
Tumblr media
The first thing you see in the morning? Amity’s face, twisted with worried concern.
You hold back a scream as you shoved your sister off of you.
“You don’t have to do this for me, (reader)!” she says desperately, “I can handle the stress, I promise–”
“Wha–? Not even a good morning?” you shook your head, feigning disappointment. “Amity, Amity. I expected better of you.”
Her ears flush light pink with embarrassment. Your attempt to lighten the mood does nearly nothing, though, as she goes right back to the point.
“Whatever! Just…call off the deal, okay?”
“Sorry, no can do, sister. And can we save the talk? I need to visit the library today.”
Her eyebrow quirked. “Library? But it’s saturday.”
You chuckled, the sound coming more of a nervous laugh. “I need to study for a major test, that’s all.”
Lies. You were really going to begin studying on Abominations, but Amity didn’t need to know that. You bet you told her, she’d get even more stressed.
“Huh. Okay.” The suspicion doesn’t leave her voice, however. “Um, happy studying, I guess.”
She hops off your bed and leaves your room. You breathe a sigh of relief as she shuts the door behind her.
Getting ready wasn’t too hard, because you really weren’t going to dazzle today. Just a simple blue sweater and some jeans. You also decided to put on a silver necklace because just because you were going simple didn’t mean you weren’t allowed to look good! You wondered if your mother was awake. Perhaps it would be better to pick up some breakfast at a cafe instead.
•─────⋅
The Golden Guard had to study. He had been a little behind on his assignments. Nothing to worry about, though! He just needed to, uh, research wild magic. For the coven.
Okay, fine. This wasn’t really part of his coven duties. But still, if he could just find out what exactly Belos’s curse was….
One problem: the coven library was shut down due to a rain leak. The acidity of the boiling rain had melted the pages of each book.
The closest un-boiled library was the Bonesburough one. It wasn’t ideal, but it would work. For now.
Anyways, he would be going as Hunter. In any criminal’s eyes, he was only a scrawny blonde sixteen year old, visiting the library to study for school. It would be a foolproof disguise.
•─────⋅
The Bonesburough library—where you spent most of your freetime. It seemed like you were gonna spend all of it now, as the deal would probably require you to study. All the time. It wasn’t too bad, though! Books are fun.
You had always liked the library, with its big clock tower and towering shelves and grumpy, definitely sleep deprived librarians. It was a great escape.
Anyways, you grabbed three volumes (that you found in the fourth grade section): Abominations 101, Abominations 4 Beginners, and Darius Deammone: A Biography.
Okay, so the last book wasn’t necessary. What of it? Head Witch Darius’s life was pretty interesting, and re-reading it for the thirtieth time wouldn’t hurt, right?
You cracked open the first book, and conjured a pen and notebook. You cracked it open.
Hm, you definitely needed a tutor. Who, though?
You glanced around, hoping to spot a perfect target. I mean, tutor. The building was a little empty, and you didn’t blame the people for not giving it a visit at seven-thirty AM on a Saturday.
Still, it didn't help your case. You wished you had asked Amity or Jerbo to come with you. They would have taught you.
Then, you remembered. You’re an oraclancy user! You could just summon a neutral ghost to help you, one who was an abomination user in their past life.
Albert was summoned with a flick of a finger. “Hey!” he yelled.
“Shh, we’re in a library! I need you to help me with something, got it?” you said, your voice hushed. He raised an eyebrow and floated to the table, hovering a few inches off the wood.
“What?” he said. “I was winning a game of Hexes Hold’em in that amulet of yours, you know.”
You rolled your eyes. Albert was being far from cooperative right now, but what could you do? How was your only available tutor.
“Fine, I’ll let you haunt someone later. But for now, I need help with abominations.”
“Why?”
“Long story, I replaced Amity, okay? You know how she was the one Mother pushed all her ideals and stuff on? Well, that’s me now.”
He shrugged. “Cool. What do you need help with?”
And as you asked questions and received very vague, irritable questions, neither of you did not notice the blonde boy with ridiculously large eyebags peeking from one of the shelves, intrigued.
•─────⋅
Hunter continued to stare at the two figures, curious. The third Blight of the family was replacing the fourth? That was something he betted worthy enough the people at taverns would discuss/ gossip about.
He never was quite acquainted with the rich of the Isles, but this one felt…familiar. Maybe it was the way they argued with the floating, purple ghost, or maybe he had seen them somewhere, but there was something odd about (reader) Blight.
He had swapped glances with them sometimes, at parties and balls sponsored by his coven. They were quick and didn’t mean much, just a bored kid looking at another. He found their gaze intimidating, sharp (e/c) eyes locked with magenta.
They were acquainted with the privileged, the rich and snotty. Were they snotty too? He didn’t know. He never even spoke a word to them.
It had never struck him that the people he saw at parties were real witches. Essentially, they were part of the background, and held no interest.
But this particular Blight? They were real. Very real.
“You just ask very boring questions!”
“You don’t even give me a proper answer!”
“Hmph,” the ghost crossed his arms together and refused to look at his conjuror, like a child throwing a tantrum. “I’m not gonna help you. You’re being very rude, thank you very much.”
Blight's eyes widened, “Wait no, I don’t understand this topic!”
The ghost cracked open one eye, and it stared right at Hunter. Quickly and with a squeak he dove back to the bookshelves.
“You’re not being very sneaky, kid.” the ghost huffed. “We can still see your hair, you know.”
Dang it.

You and Albert stare at the ashy blonde cowlick for a few seconds. You sigh, the chair making a scraping sound against the floor as you stand up and walk to the boy.
He has his face turned to you, a sheepish grin showing off his tooth gap.
“What are you doing, stalker?” you demand. In a flash the boy is on his feet, “I am not a stalker!”
You cross your arms and scoff. “Really? What were you doing, then?”
“I—um,” his magenta eyes flick to the stack of books you had collected behind you. He points to them, “I needed a book you got!” he says hastily.
You raised an eyebrow. “Huh. What book?”
“The, uh, abomination coven head’s autobiography.”
The book flies to his hands in a blaze of purple. He grips the cover tightly, staring down at it.
“Thanks,” he mutters.
When he stays in his position, unmoving, you ask, “So, you like abominations?”
He glances up in surprise when you talk. “Yeah.”
“Great! Are you a master at it?”
He shrugged, still holding the book close to his chest. “I wouldn’t say master, but I guess you could say I enjoy doing it.”
You snorted. His face seemed to twist in half-recognition until you said, “That’s practically impossible. Abominations? Enjoyment? Won’t hear that in the same sentence often.”
He shrugged.  “Don’t knock it till you’ve tried it. It’s a little messy, but it's practical. You know, abominations actually played a huge part in the Demon Revolution in 1390? Many thought the goo would melt in the battlefields, but it was a really big component in order to win the civil war!” you grinned at his mini-rant.
The boy seemed to have suddenly become self-conscious, because he coughed and said quietly, “Not that that’s important, or anything.”
“No, no! It’s interesting,” you gleamed. He seemed to be surprised. “R-really?” he sputtered.
You nodded, “History always fascinated me. Hey, do you think you could tutor me on abominations? My tutor isn’t being–” you glanced back to Albert, or where he would be. You see nothing. “--too helpful.”
His mouth gaped open. He had a certain look in his eyes, as if he was waiting for an opportunity like this to come across all his life.
“You want to study with me?”
You nodded happily. “Look, I’ll pay you in snails. Or maybe a free meal? I know some really good restaurants around here–”
“No, uh,” he finally looks you in the eye, and you wonder if you had ever made a kid so happy than he is now, “That’s fine. You don’t need to pay.”
Huh. Oddly nice.
“So, what’s your name, blondie?”
He hesitated before saying, “..Hunter.”
“I’m (reader) Blight!” you grin at him. Playfully, you bend the crook of your arm for him and the other positioned at your back, as if inviting him for a dance. With a cheesy wink you say, “Well, shall we, Hunter?”
He rolls his eyes, striding past you with a snicker.
This Hunter guy is so knowledgeable! Boy, he’s smart. You figure he’s probably a prodigy in whatever school he’s in.
“The multiple uses of abomination goo is as follows—-why’re you staring at me like that?” He stops midway, staring at you accusingly.
“I—what? Pfft, I wasn’t staring at you!” Your cheeks burn with embarrassment.
“Uh-huh.” He raised his thick black eyebrows at you before clearing his throat. “Eyes on the page, Blight. Anyhow, the first use is abomination summoning, obviously..”
You zoned out as Hunter explained some subject your mind definitely wasn’t on.
Your eyes darted from the yellowed pages to Hunter’s face. It was laced with concentration as he turned the subject into a ramble about how abomination goo was so annoying to take off and how it left a big splotchy stain. His hooked nose crinkled in distaste, and you presumed he was imagining the smell of abomination goo. You didn’t blame him—abomination goo always smelled horrible.
You chuckled, causing him to pause. “You really have a grudge against abominations, huh?”
“Obviously!” He huffed, “The goo is repulsive. But, well, I can’t deny its usefulness…do you know what time it is?”
You glanced at the library clock above him, Hunter’s golden curls obscuring your view a little. “Um, I think eleven twenty?”
“WHAT?” he yelled. “Oh no, oh no no no…I’m late!” He burst to his feet, looking around frantically.
“Late for what?” You asked him. “Late for something,” he replied, “I’ve really got to go…you’ll be okay, right?”
You laughed. That ripple of distant recognition from Hunter’s face showed up again. “Don’t worry about me. I’ve got this in the bag!” You looked back down at the page, which had been sticky-note bombed by Hunter. “But, er, I may need to find an demonstrator soon, putting theory into practice and all that. Anyway, see you!”
As his blonde cowlick disappeared from sight, you sighed. You glance to the page, with bright yellow sticky notes.
Hunter’s handwriting was messy, hardly legible. The amount of loops in the ‘y’s and ‘j’s made it quite difficult to understand what was going on. But you didn’t really care, either, that was the funny part.
Why didn’t you care that you spent four hours with a new friend, when you didn’t even learn anything at all? Could you even call Hunter a friend? You’d probably never see him again.
You found yourself hoping he’d be back tomorrow.

Hunter didn’t want to leave. Not yet. Weirdly, he liked spending time with the Blight, odd questions and quips and all. They were kinda fun hanging around. Everything about them was oddly uncanny—the snorts when he said something funny, the chuckling, the attitude…who did they remind him of? He couldn’t quite tell.
But he had a mission he was very late for, as the golden guard, so unfortunately he couldn’t solve the mystery yet. That didn’t stop him from borrowing a few advanced abomination volumes, and made a silent note to borrow a trainee’s wand from the coven later. He might not come across with the Blight again, but it didn’t hurt to be prepared. Plus, he may have been stretching the truth about him knowing how to conjure an abomination to impress them.

New Alador/Darius story is up!
With the success of the process to remove the coven sigils and unlock magic, Alador Blight (inventor/hack) and Darius Deammone (ex-coven head/drama queen) have to make their own decision as to whether or not to keep the brands on their wrist. In the process, they also have to make another decision...do they keep up the feud or do they admit that they might not just tolerate each other, but might actually /like/ each other?
