Fun Fact
Kazakhstan’s Minister of Communications and Informatics has blocked the Tumblr site because it contained 60 sites of terrorism, extremism, and pornography in 2015.
i feel like my dany posting is probably getting annoying i’m sorry lmao but i think the main difference between the show and book is that while book dany clearly deals with the same issues of superiority that like, fucjing everyone from westeros deals with, i think she really does want what’s best for people in the end whereas emilia played her so fuckin flatly and they were so bad at trying to adapt the themes of her story that for most of the series it just felt like she had a much more tywin-esque “i’m doing this bc Targaryens Have To Be On Top.”
like, book dany DOES ultimately believe in what she’s espousing ya kno, that all people should get to live safe, happy, healthy lives, that all people are deserving of dignity, that all humans are people with personhood! whereas for show dany, it all rang so fucking hollow. i just never know what scene to point to bc a lot of it is on emilia’s acting and apparently all of twitter & instagram has decided she’s emmy worthy so people will point to her scenes in the series and i’m like WHERE IS GEORGE’S AMAZING WRITING. WHERE IS THE DAUGHTER OF DEATH. WHY DOES SHE NEVER SAY DRAGONS PLANT NO TREES. WHERE IS THE GOOD ACTING WHERE IS IT.
Secret Invasion is another example of an MCU project that would really have been better served by being a movie.
The premise of the story meant that fans created wildly absurd theories about what will happen/who will appear and, needless to say, they don't pan out. When you string it out over 6 weeks, it builds expectations -. then, after the finale, the keyboard warriors will review it based on everything they wanted to see happen but didn't.
This means all the great things about the show (Emilia Clarke and Olivia Colman were amazing) get overshadowed. If it were a 3.5/4 hour movie, the audience gets answers straight away and can just enjoy the story they have rather than spend weeks building unrealistic expectations.
remember when emilia clarke said she didn't want to do nude scenes for game of thrones anymore and the writers convinced her to do one last nude scene because it was “heroic” and “empowering”?
considering that was, apparently, supposed to be a chilling moment of mad!dany foreshadowing, would it be fair to say the writers straight up lied to emilia so we could see her naked again?
i see the "daenerys was evil all along, actually” debate rage on to this day so i just think about that a lot.
Kindred spirits appear when you least expect them (geddit?).
Normally it wouldn't be a massive deal hating something popular, bc inevitably, everyone's gonna hate something popular at some point in their lives. But what do you do when you hate Me Before You and LOVE Sam Claflin, what do you do then? What do you do, when you see an article about him and get that dreaded feeling in your stomach as you click to open it, bc you know that film will be mentioned? (I want to hug every journalist who doesn't bring it up. Nicely done work, Men's Health.) What do you do when you see all the comments from people who love that film saying how much they cried? (Why? WHY???? What is there to cry about? How easily impressed people are by a cheap tearjerker?) What do you do when that film is sold as the best thing in romance, a True Love (how?), a "doomed love story" (how????? Romeo and Juliet is a doomed love story, not this trash). What do you do when you know there are much, much better, more quality films with Sam to watch, with better developed female characters AND love interests--but everyone ignores them? What do you do?
Will: You're the only thing that makes me wake up in the morning.
In occasion of the #StarWarsMonth, I didn’t just made the artwork with Amilyn Holdo I posted on Instagram last week.
As you can see, I made a second digital artwork, and this time the subject I chose is Lady Qi’ra (@emilia_clarke), in the version of the Star Wars comic series (2020).
Hope you like this artwork I made — and #maytheforcebewithyou! ✨
