just watched the last episode of "everything's gonna be okay" and I literally started tearing up during this scene because it explains the autistic experience so perfectly. Growing up as an undiagnosed autistic child and then getting your diagnosis as an adult is literally learning how to unlearn the whole camouflaging technique that we've been using for all of our life. Thank you Nicholas and Matilda for the autistic representation that we needed. And thank you Genevieve for portraying the kid I've tried all my life to be.
Also this videos of srk, idk why is comforting to me :

Oswald: So Ed offered me a vial of his blood. I can't tell if this is him trying to test whether or not I'm a vampire, or if this is another like love language we've discovered 'cause we're fucking insane.

Martin, signing: I'm eighteen, I'm old enough to enlist in the military.
Oswald: Fine. If you don't get out of bed, I'm gonna enlist you in the military.
i really admire josh thomas for writing the most unsympathetic (but still somehow likeable) characters possible, based on himself and played by himself too. he's the realest for that.
Ok so since Todd Chavez and Raphael Santiago we've had Drea from Everythings Gonna Be Ok who comes out as ace in the second season, the show ended after this, Greta Moreno from Generation, that show only lasted one season and was canceled, Spooner in Legends of Tomorrow who came out last season and now the show is cancelled as well.
We also have Jae from Supernatural Academy and Isaac from Heartstopper, both aroace characters, the thing is that we still dont know if those shows are coming for a second season, Heartstopper most probably will but SA who knows, and for the near future the only aspec characters we know are coming to TV are Alastor in Hazbin Hotel and maybe just maybe Steve and Florence in Sex Education, (also Im adding Andy Billups from Star Trek Lower Decks who is a recurring character tho Im not sure how canon he is).
With so many cancelled shows and aspec characters identities being erased in TVs adaptations (Jughead Jones in Riverdale, probably Yelena Belova in the MCU, and even Raphael Santiago's aromanticism) is sad and kinda hopeless but not surprising to see how the amount of ace characters have not grown since GLAAD started counting them in their reports back in 2017, as an enby ace it's bittersweet to see how some representation has grown from 4 characters to 25 while other has stayed the same after 5 years.
Out of curiosity, what's your favorite portrayal of an autistic character in media? (Doesn't have to be canon)
i’m personally a fan of “everything’s gonna be okay” (it’s on hulu)
it features three (or four i don’t remember) autistic characters, all the actors/actresses are actually autistic and they feature a queer relationship with two autistic characters
there isn’t a intense amount of ableism shown (not any of i remember correctly) and it’s simply just them existing and living their lives (no stereotypes)
