Realizing that normal people my age don't even know what fandom is (or don't interact with it) like what do they do in their spare time? Do they watch shows and NOT spend hours frantically scrolling through memes, meta analysis, fanart, fanfics, edits, writing fanfics in their heads, etc? How do these people enjoy media? I can't fathom being into a show without obsessing over it....

Edit: i think this post makes it seem like I'm an adult but no I go to college and just happen to be doing a group project with mentally well people

Sadly, I entered this fandom quite late, I lost so much of the joy of it. But, this anime truly changed my life, it made me see my life and my experiences under a new light, made me fall in love once more with ice skating, taught me so much about love and life.

I got to know some amazing people thank to this fandom, people who truly impacted me. Not only friends or people I talked to, but every artist of any kind who created something that made me feel anything, every soul that intertwined with mine in this fandom has touched me deeply, and has taught me something new.

The fact that the movie has been cancelled isn't a surprise to me, nor it really saddens me. I've learned to be wary if sequels, they've mostly disappointed me in the past, and this story was too impactful to me to risk being disappointed by it. I'm not happy, naturally, but I don't really feel sad about it: I'm relieved I finally got closure, after all this time, and that we all know we can stop waiting.

I believe this isn't the end of this fandom. Sure, some people might leave, but that's not scary.

The next level, in my opinion, has been us all along: the story lives through us, through out love and passion, through the friendships we made along the way, through the marvelous fanfictions that keep the magic alive. Every author, every artist, every fan of this anime is keeping it alive, is building their own "next level" day by day.

So yeah, I know this is unpopular but I don't care we won't have a movie. We have each other, I know we'll keep the characters alive.

I don’t talk much about Yuri on Ice here, but it was one of my most memorable fandoms and also what got me into fanfiction.

I joined the fandom a bit late, at post-episode 9, but the show was still airing then at least. And the fandom was crazy. After every new episode, you’d immediately see every scene in gifs. And this was before the Tumblr porn ban, so there were much more active users.

Every post on my dash would be about Yuri on Ice, and there was just so much interaction between different fans. One of the most popular YOI fanfics even developed a fandom of its own. The writer’s entire Tumblr blog was practically full of asks from their readers. I myself had a yoi-centric blog.

Honestly, I don’t really miss YOI, having found new different stories that I fell more in love with. And I’ve long moved on from the fandom as well.

What I do miss, though, is the kind of fandom activity it had that I don’t really see much here on Tumbr anymore. People reblogged more. Fanfic readers interacted with writers. Gifmakers everywhere. It was… just so alive, you know?

Later, I deleted my Tumblr account to focus on college. It wasn’t until late 2019 that I came back here, but I wasn’t really active then. It was just so quiet here...

Then in 2022, my desire to be part of a Tumblr fandom was rekindled. Blue Lock had just started airing, and I was invested. I came here on Tumblr, hoping to see the kind of energy I once saw in the YOI fandom but… there was none. Posts about it were few, and I didn’t often see gifs after each ep… I created @fyeahbachisagi to help fill in this gap in the fandom, but when I just started, it was honestly like me talking at a wall...

Fandom culture has changed so much since YOI’s time. You can still find joy, of course, but it’s just so much more different now...

I've always had a weakness for that moment when emotionally guarded characters start to crack and show their vulnerable side. Maybe because I know just how hard it is to take those walls down..

To trust someone enough to let the mask fall and allow yourself to be seen in all your imperfect glory. And maybe that's why I feel so incredibly drawn to Angel. And why I want nothing more than for him to feel safe and loved.

All I know is that this scene never fails to hit me in the gut. To get a glimpse of that wall crumbling ever so slightly, with Husk bearing witness to a little bit of Anthony peaking through.

I can only hope we get more scenes like this in the future. Our boy truly deserves the world ♡

Revisiting "Stuff Yuuri Katsuki Full of Cock 2k17"

AO3 should make you sign a contract in blood and have it notarized before you're allowed to orphan one of your stories. The "R" in "R.C." stands for regret in this case!

Of the many fics, ficlets, drabbles, and WIPs I churned out for the YOI fandom that I wish I could un-orphan, these four were my favorites:

Almost half his life has been spent training for the day that Victor Nikiforov takes him to bed, so when it finally happens after the Grand Prix Final, Yuuri's prepared. More than prepared: he's ready. No one's ever touched him as a lover, sure, but there's nothing that he hasn't already dreamed about doing or having done to him to make anything that could happen a shock. But apparently Victor's sole purpose in life is to subvert all his expectations. (this is easily the filthiest thing i've ever written)
