Battinson with baby Tim and Jason, please?
I love Annie, so please, give me all the adoption AUs. There's some real angst In Bruce honestly believing kids are the single luxury he'll never afford.
Plus, if those kids who used to crush his fingers between doors for fun were right about one thing, is that the Waynes were cursed. He'll never put anyone through that.
Bruce who meets Jason when he sees some of Falcone's men chasing him, saves him, and it's just his rotten luck that someone took a pic.
Apparently, he's the father of a little Crime Alley bandit successfully hid from the public.
Jason thinking Bruce keeps him around for image while Bruce genuinely loves him, sure, angsty. But.
What if Bruce wasn't a Wayne?
I'm just thinking of a prince and pauper fusion with Tommy Elliot, who's switched at birth with a baby boy that's so deathly pale and quiet.
Bruce who grows up in foster care, raising againts the odds, finally getting into college to become a paediatrician.
He interns, sometimes, for Wayne Ent, because Mr. Thomas likes his green energy, affordable ideas.
"I know it's horrible for me to say this, but," He sighs, " I wish my son was a bit like you." Bruce tells him, trust me, no one should be like me. But thank you. And please, tell Alfred to not pack 30 containers of food.
Bruce also works as a nurse. He comes home beat and sleepless and he doesn't even know how his apartment is clean. Doesn't know who covers him with a blanket after he collapses in a deep sleep.
He does find out, when he finds Dick, Jason, and Tim eating his food after a long shift that ended early. Dick, 15 and tall like a brickhouse, tackles him while the others run, " You don't tell anyone. Least of all Tom. Got it?"
He frowns. Tom did say (Bruce doesn't want to sound mean, but it did convey more like bragging) he just adopted a few boys. "But you're adopted by the richest man in Gotham. Why come here?"
Dick huffs, " He's gonna throw us out the minute he wins the election. Plus, this was OUR house before you moved in. This is Catherine's house. We're not moving."
Jason, a tiny little thing, steps forward, tear marks drying on his hollow cheeks. " ...You need to make sweets. Those blueberry fudge cakes you make when you're sad."
Bruce accepts. " But you have to tell me everything. Deal?"
Clark Kent, a reporter who's been assigned to investigate Gotham's potential trust fund mayor, whom rented the cheapest apartment right next to Bruce, thinks that's very interesting story indeed.

How the FUCK do people write from Sirius’ perspective.
My whole story is from his pov and I’m struggling….I normally do Remus, so I feel I know him like the back of my hand, so Sirius’ feels so odd to do. But it’s important to do his for the story.
Why is so hard to write for me lol😂
Feel free to give me your best tips on how to write this man.

Foster care au.
In a world when Sakumo still commits suicide, but rather than letting Kakashi become a ninja instantly and have him raise himself and live alone at five years old (WHOSE ASININE IDEA WAS THIS-), he gets put in a foster care home.
And the person who volunteers as his foster, is Maito Dai. And he helps Kakashi work through his trauma while also ensuring the rivalry with his son Gai, stays healthy.

Summary:
Allura's father died a month before she graduated high school. That is not relevant to this story. (It's not.) Allura has been looking forward to her first semester of college for ages, and she has it all planned out from her major to extracurricular to her dorm room aesthetic. Except… Nothing in is turning out the way she had planned. Boringly easy classes, difficult peers, unfulfilling clubs… And who is this Shiro with understated snark and more secrets than meets the eye?

I Belong in Your Arms
Happy JATP Feb Fan Fest day!!!! This is my gift for @interestinglittlerelationship! Hope you enjoy! (Also sorry I'm a bit late!)

Relationship - Willex Rating - Teen Additional Tags - Foster Care AU, Friends to lovers (mainly friends at this point), hurt/comfort, heavy on the comfort!
Summary -
Alex takes a right at the prompting of his phone and spots the hanging sign for Bohemia Roast. A grin spreads across his face when he spots a familiar figure lounging on a table just outside the cafe. He debates trying to sneak up on them for a second, but decides against it. The accidental elbow he got to the ribs last time he tried makes a solid case against it. “Willie!” he calls out instead, tucking his phone into his pocket. Willie looks up and Alex can see the exact moment he spots him, because his whole face lights up. Alex is still a good ten feet away when Willie rushes him, nearly bowling them both over onto the sidewalk with the force of his hug. Alex squeezes them back just as tightly. It’s been way too long since they’ve actually seen each other in person.

-------
Alex hurries to the front of the bus, shooting a quick smile and a “Thank you” to the driver before stepping off onto the sidewalk. He’s 99% sure this is the right stop. Well. Okay, more like 64% sure, but that’s just the anxiety talking. His phone buzzes in his hand, telling him to go left. If Google can be trusted, his destination is only a five-minute walk away.
He turns and starts down the sidewalk. The sun is bright above him, even though it’s the middle of October. He ducks around a young couple taking pictures with some celebrity impersonator with a flashy white wig. Seriously? He hadn’t realized that was still a thing that happened outside of theme parks. Though maybe Hollywood is a bit like a theme park. It would explain a thing or two.
“Your hair’s longer,” Alex mumbles without letting go, those same strands tickling his nose.
“You still have this hoodie,” Willie responds, his fingers tugging on the pink fabric.
“Someone told me pink was my color,” Alex snarks.
“That person must be a genius,” Willie says, chuckling. “I missed you,” he adds a moment later.
“I missed you too.”
Alex doesn’t bother saying more than that, not yet. Right now, he can just soak up Willie’s warmth and familiar presence. Sure, Willie’s hair is a bit longer, and Alex is taller than him now, but they’re still the same people they were a few years ago when they met. And even though they haven’t seen each other all that often since Alex got moved out of the group home after a couple of weeks, they’ve still been in each others’ corners ever since that first night.
Eventually, Willie relaxes a bit and Alex pulls back. “So,” Willie starts with a smirk, “what brings you to Hollywood?”
“Oh, all the famous people,” Alex jokes. “I think I even saw Marilyn Monroe back there.”
“Wow, de-aging technology has gotten so fancy,” Willie retorts with a laugh. “Hasn’t she been dead for like… a while?”
Alex shrugs, faining innocence. “I’m just telling you what I saw.”
Willie stares at him for a second before they both burst into giggles. It feels good, laughing with Willie again. In person, not over the phone.
“Come on, you have got to try this place’s iced teas,” Willie declares.
Alex just grins as Willie grabs his hand and pulls him into the little cafe. The interior is warm and cozy, lit largely by the sunlight that streams in through the front windows. Shelves along one wall hold a mix of plants and in-house coffee blends. The rest of the space is taken up by stools and tables, along with a couple of couches. The place is just the right level of loud, enough that Alex can feel the life flowing around him but not enough that he feels the need to shout.
“Okay I know I said tea,” Willie says as they approach the counter, “but no pressure there. What do you want?”
Alex inhales the scent of fresh coffee. It smells great… for another time. “No I think I’m with you in the tea club today,” he responds. “Dan and Judy are nice and all, but I swear coffee is the only thing they drink. Period. I haven’t had a decent iced tea in like six months.”
Willie nods. “Makes sense, they sound like coffee people.” They glance up at the menu board. “I was going to try the passion fruit one this time, but the strawberry citrus I had last time was sick.”
“I’ll trust your judgment,” Alex agrees, swinging their still joined hands back and forth a bit. “Hasn’t steered me wrong yet.” He pauses, thinking. “Well, okay, except for that sushi thing. And Thor whatever number the last one was. And that dog that-”
“Hey, that last one is Google’s doing,” Willie protests, cutting him off. “I just gave you what the top search result was.”
“Yeah and then I got bit by a freaking lapdog,” Alex retorts, a laugh bubbling up behind his words.
“Wow, ‘freaking’?” Willie teases back. “Someone’s working on their language.”
Alex groans and drops his forehead down on their shoulder. “Dan and Judy blow a gasket whenever I say anything even remotely connected to a swear word,” he explains. “Like, come on, if you’re gonna be foster parents, you’ve got to be able to manage kids that come from homes where swearing is a thing.”
Willie winces sympathetically. “That’s rough, dude. You should leave them a nasty review on Rate My Foster Parent.”
“That’s not a real site,” Alex mumbles, but a smile is starting to pull at his lips again.
“But it could be,” Willie counters.
Alex rolls his eyes, then smirks. “Oh but how would lovely individuals like Ms. Hannigan ever stay in business then?” he retorts.
Willie shudders. “All the more reason for it to be a thing,” they decide. “I had to watch the 2014 Annie way too many times with Lydia while I was with the Bennets.”
“You have a point,” Alex concedes as the person in front of them finishes ordering and steps away.
“What can I get for y’all?” the woman behind the counter asks with a friendly smile.
“I think we’re in the market for iced tea,” Willie responds.
He mirrors the barista’s grin, but it’s not the same as the easy one he’d been wearing a moment ago. It’s a bit tighter around the edges, lips closer together and fewer crinkles around his eyes. Alex is familiar with having different smiles for different situations of course, he probably has half a dozen himself. And Willie’s “I’m being polite” smile isn’t nearly as distinctive as it was three years ago when they met, which is a good sign. But still, Alex wishes he could lift some of the weight that pulls at their face when they’re pretending to be happy, but not sure if they’re allowed to exist.
“And you said the strawberry citrus, right?”
Alex starts, realizing he zoned out for a second. “Yeah, that one,” he tells Willie. He gets a glimpse of the real smile again at that. It makes him feel all light inside, just like it always has.
Willie finishes ordering and reaches for his wallet.
“No it’s cool, I got it,” Alex says, hand slipping into his own pocket.
“Nah, Caleb gave me an allowance for this kind of stuff,” Willie responds, pulling out a $10 bill. “I think he’s trying to teach me financial responsibility or something.”
Alex shoots him a questioning glance. Willie’s eyes say, talk about it later. So Alex lets it go and just drops a $1 in the tip jar. The woman tells them it will be right out, so they head over to the other end of the counter. Alex leans back against one of the tall tables to wait.
He’s a bit startled a moment later by a warm arm pressing against his own. He glances over to see Willie almost leaning on him, arms folded protectively and eyes fixed on the people behind the counter. Alex can’t help but remember all the times Willie grabbed his hand or pressed their feet together under the table or wrapped him in a hug back when they were in the same foster home. It had been nice back then, but 13-year-old Alex hadn’t considered why that was Willie’s first instinct for helping him. Heck, he hadn’t even heard of love languages till around a year ago.
Alex hesitates, then wraps his arm loosely around Willie’s shoulders. They don’t pull away, to Alex’s relief. Instead, Willie edges a bit closer, shoulders relaxing a little. Alex fights the urge to brush his lips against their cheek, just to see if that would make the real smile come back faster.
Neither of them stirs for a few minutes. The cafe continues to move around them but it doesn’t touch them. They just stay in their little bubble as they wait for their teas. They could be talking, but it’s nice to be quiet every once in a while with someone you love.
Eventually someone calls Willie’s name and slides their drinks across the counter. Willie darts forward, grabs the cups, and is back in front of Alex within moments. “Inside or outside?” he asks, grinning.
Alex glances out the window. “It’s still warm enough for outside,” he decides, taking his cup and grabbing Willie’s now-free hand.
“I don’t know, you might catch a chill, white boy,” Willie teases, following him out to the table where he’d been waiting earlier.
“Eh maybe I won’t get yelled at for not going to church on Sunday then,” Alex jokes.
Willie frowns and Alex regrets his words. “They shouldn’t be yelling at you,” Willie points out softly. “Especially not for that.”
Alex shrugs. “Yeah, they shouldn’t,” he agrees. “But there’s not much I can do about it.”
Willie nods and squeezes his hand. They have to let go of each other as they sit down on either side of a small, wooden table, but Alex brushes his toes against Willie’s, just to keep the contact he knows is nice for them both.
“So, tell me all about-” Alex sets down his cup to throw up some jazz hands, “-Caleb Covington?”
Willie giggles. “Yep I guess that is how I text about him, isn’t it,” they remark.
“There are sparkles around his name like every other time,” Alex confirms, laughing.
“And I stand by it,” Willie states. “This guy is very extra. But… not in a bad way? I don’t think?”
Alex leans forward, resting his elbows on the table to listen. “I mean he did give you coffee money,” he points out. “Isn’t that stuff supposed to stunt your growth or something?”
“If I didn’t already know that was a myth, I’d believe it now,” Willie responds. “I swear Caleb drinks like half a pot of the stuff with breakfast and he’s like six-three or something.”
Alex laughs. “So what you’re saying is that you need something else to blame for being shorter than me now?”
“Guess so,” Willie says, nodding. They don’t say anything else for a moment and Alex waits, knowing by now that sometimes they just need a minute to collect their thoughts. “He’s cool so far,” Willie says finally, a bit softer than before. “And he’s gay, which is nice. I haven’t met his boyfriend yet, but he sounds chill from what Caleb says.”
“That’s great, Wills,” Alex remarks, offering an encouraging smile.
“Yeah, he’s like the chillest foster parent I’ve ever had with all that,” Willie agrees. “He even… um… he mentioned we might even be able to get the legal stuff squared away so I can start HRT if everything goes okay with the GP next month.”
Alex can’t help the surprised laugh that escapes him. “Willie, that’s awesome!” he declares, grabbing Willie’s hand again. “You’ve been wanting that for like… ever.”
Willie nods and offers a hopeful smile. “Well cross your fingers for me,” they answer. “I mean… I don’t know if I’ll last long enough for that to actually happen.”
Alex immediately reaches across the table and latches onto their other hand as well, making Willie look up at him. “Hey, no,” Alex says quietly. “No blaming yourself for any of that. It’s not on you to make yourself this perfect kid that fits with all the random expectations of stupid white people. They knew they weren’t going to get perfect kids when they registered to be foster parents. Heck, they signed up for not-perfect kids when they decided they wanted to have any kids at all. Other peoples’ bad choices and reactions aren’t your fault.”
Willie bites his lip but nods again. “Yeah. I know that,” he says. Alex isn’t fully convinced, but he doesn’t push it. “It just sucks that I’m the one who gets screwed up after.”
“Yeah, it does.” Alex squeezes Willie’s hands, then lets go of one to take a sip of his tea. “Oh dang, this is awesome,” he remarks.
Willie grins, not all the way but close enough to make Alex feel fluttery. “Right? I don’t know what kind of crack they put in these, but it’s seriously addictive.”
“Yes,” Alex responds, pointing at him before taking another swallow. “How’s yours?”
“Sick,” Willie says. He sips at his drink again, then adds, “Caleb apparently comes here a lot. It’s not that far from where he works so he’ll come here on lunch breaks or something sometimes?”
“I probably would too if I was close enough,” Alex admits.
“Same. But he brought me here like the day after I moved in, something about serious conversations requiring caffeine. But said ‘serious conversations’ were all like… what kind of breakfast food do I like? And favorite movies? And allergies, even though I’m pretty sure that’s already in my file or whatever?”
“Sounds like my level of serious conversation,” Alex says, chuckling. “But I think I’m starting to see what you meant before about him being extra…”
Willie laughs. “Yeah, he’s just like that I guess. I mean he runs this fancy club place on Sunset Boulevard, so I guess it checks out. The place kinda sounds like an old speak-easy sometimes from how he talks about it.”
“Good think alcohol isn’t illegal anymore then,” Alex jokes.
“Man, I don’t think he’d get caught even if it was,” Willie responds. “He’s like scarily good at talking people into things. These couple of missionary dudes showed up at our door last week and I’m pretty sure Caleb had them questioning their own fancy book by the time they left.”
Alex smirks. “Serves them right.” He falls silent for a moment, sipping his drink. “So you like it there?” he asks.
Willie bites his lip again and nods. “Yeah, I do. And I’m scared I’m gonna mess it up. That I’ll drive him away.”
Alex laces their fingers together a little more securely. “Well whatever happens, I’ll still follow you,” he promises, just like he has dozens of times over the last few years.
Willie smiles, a bit shaky but so real and honest that it makes Alex’s face warm in its glow. “You too,” they reply easily. “We’ll figure it out.”
“One day at a time,” Alex finishes.

Saved from the Flames - Chapter One
“When you're born in a burning house, you think the whole world is on fire. But it's not.” --Richard Kadrey
Billy Hargrove is 9 years old. He tries his best to be the son his father wants him to be - quiet, respectful, and obedient. But Neil just pushes harder and harder, all in the name of raising a "strong man". When Billy is removed from his father's custody and placed in foster care, it takes some time for him to realize his world is no longer burning around him. New experiences, new people, new opportunities all make Billy realize there's a whole lot more to life than respect and responsibility.
AKA: The story of how Bob Newby became a real life superhero for one little boy who needed saving.
Inspired by this post I saw from @connordax
read on ao3
CW: Descriptions of physical/mental/emotional abuse
It was a warm Monday night in the Hargrove home. Billy had come home from school to an empty house, and he’d managed to get his chores done before his dad had come home from work. While his dad cooked, Billy had sat down at the table with his math worksheet to start his homework. Now the nine-year-old was sitting in front of a plate of spaghetti, his dad next to him. It was silent at the table, tense and uncomfortable. There was a knock on the door and Neil stood up, pointing to Billy’s plate. “Eat up, you have homework to do.”
Billy nodded, casting a glance down at the plate. He hated tomatoes, but he knew his dad didn’t want to hear that. So instead, Billy took the opportunity of being alone to pour more of the powdered parmesan cheese on his noodles, hoping to mask the tomato flavor.
He’d only gotten a few bites swallowed before his dad came back into the room, an odd look on his face. “Billy and I just sat down to dinner. He’s right here.” Billy didn’t understand, were they having company? Usually when there was company, Neil would force Billy into a nicer outfit. And his dad was using his public voice. The one that didn’t sound so angry, so disappointed all the time. Neil stepped out of the doorway and a lady with pretty blonde hair and a briefcase walked in, a smile on her face.
“Hi, Billy. My name’s Gabby. How are you?” she asked. Billy’s mouth was full of food, so he didn’t dare answer, not with his dad shooting daggers at him over Gabby’s shoulder. So instead, he held up his hand with a thumbs up, nodding at her. “Can I sit down with you for a minute?” she continued, pointing to Neil’s abandoned chair.
Billy’s gaze fell to his father again, searching for some sort of understanding that didn’t come. “I brought some work home with me,” Neil interrupted, reaching for his plate. Billy was becoming more and more uncomfortable – his dad seemed scared. That wasn’t normal. “I’ll go eat and knock it out while Gabby keeps you company, okay?” His voice was too kind for home, Billy noted. This was the voice he used around teachers and doctors.
Billy only nodded.
And then Neil left the room and Gabby sat down beside Billy, offering him a gentle smile. “How’s your dinner, Billy?”
Billy shrugged. “It’s fine,” he murmured, pushing the noodles around his plate with the fork. “How do you know my dad?”
Gabby set the briefcase at her feet and then leaned forward so she was leaning against the table, looking at Billy with gentle eyes. “I actually haven’t met your dad before right now. Billy, have you ever heard of a social worker?”
“No ma’am,” Billy replied. Better be polite so she doesn’t tell my dad I was rude, he thought.
“Well, my job is to go around Hawkins and check in on kids to make sure they’re safe,” she explained. “You can keep eating if you want to, but I have some questions for you to answer, if you feel up to that?”
Billy shrugged but made no move to continue eating. In fact, he put his fork down. “It’s okay, I don’t like tomatoes anyway,” he told her. She seemed nice enough. “What questions?” Something about this made him uncomfortable, but he didn’t know why. It felt almost like a trap.
“Just simple questions about your life,” Gabby promised. “I just want to get to know you a little bit. Like…your dad told me you were nine years old. When’s your birthday?”
Billy relaxed a bit at the ease of the question, especially when he heard it was questions that Neil had fielded before they’d gotten to Billy. “March 29,” he replied, sitting up straighter in his chair.
Gabby asked a lot more questions, ranging from questions about Billy’s day at school, what things he liked to do when he was home, and a lot of questions about his dad. Billy tried to answer them as best he could, but sometimes Gabby looked like she didn’t like his answer or something was making her sad.
“You seem like a really sweet kid, Billy. Do you ever get in trouble? Like at school or at home?”
“Sometimes,” Billy mumbled, shrugging. “I guess.”
“When you get in trouble, what happens?” Gabby’s voice had gotten more serious, and Billy’s tummy was churning. He felt like he was going to throw up. He knew this question. The school counselor had asked him that question a few days ago, and she hadn’t liked his answer. She’d gotten serious and quiet and asked a lot more questions, but Billy had clammed up and refused to answer anything else.
So Billy changed his answer. “Um, nothing. Sometimes Dad gets mad and yells.”
“That’s it?” Gabby pushed, leaning in a little closer to Billy, like she was really trying to listen to him. Billy nodded. “He never gets too mad and accidentally hits you?”
Well, accidents happen sometimes. That’s not bad. “Maybe on accident,” Billy whispered, looking at his plate. His spaghetti would be cold by now, which would make it even grosser. Maybe if he answered Gabby’s questions and he could get her to leave, his dad would put it in the microwave and warm it back up.
But Gabby wasn’t done. “Can you show me your room, Billy? Do you have any cool toys?”
Billy bit his lip but shrugged, sliding off the chair and heading toward the living room. Gabby followed behind him, and Billy froze when he caught sight of his dad on the sofa. The man’s face was unreadable to Billy, which was never a good sign. His lips were pursed tightly and he was stiff where he sat. “How’s it going, kiddo?” he asked evenly.
“She wants to see my room,” Billy kicked at the carpet nervously and didn’t look at his dad. “Sir,” he added quickly.
Neil froze, silent for a moment. “That’s fine,” he replied curtly, standing with his half-finished plate. “I’ll start cleaning up the kitchen.” Billy nodded, swallowing thickly before leading Gabby down the hallway to his room.
“What is this, Billy?” Gabby asked as they approached his room, reaching for the lock up toward the top of the door. The outside of the door.
“It keeps the monsters out,” Billy told her. “Dad locks it at night when I go to bed. Or if he’s not going to be home to watch me.”
Oh no. He definitely shouldn’t have said that, he realized. Gabby stopped, casting a look to the blonde boy in front of her. “How often does that happen?”
Billy shrugged, clamping his mouth shut. Oh, his dad was going to kill him. “Billy, honey, you can talk to me,” Gabby promised, kneeling in front of him. Her face was more serious than it had been before. “Does he do that a lot? Leave you here alone?”
Billy stared back at her, unyielding. But his eyes were wide, and that was enough of an answer for Gabby. “Okay, how about those toys then?” He didn’t have the courage to say he didn’t have any, so instead Billy just walked into his room and stood there, waiting for Gabby to come in and take a look around.
Gabby realized quickly that Billy wasn’t going to say anything else, but that was fine. She had what she needed, though it would take a few days to get it all together. She looked around the bare bedroom, her heart sinking for the young boy in front of her. She wished nothing more than to be able to scoop him up and take him now, but they had to wait until the judge gave the okay.
“Alright, Billy, thank you for being so helpful!” she smiled cheerfully at the boy. “I’ll let you and your dad finish your dinner now.” She led him back to the living room and then into the kitchen where Billy could hear Neil cleaning the dishes.
“Mr. Hargrove, I think we’re all done here. Thank you for being so helpful,” she smiled over Billy’s head, nudging him toward the table. Billy settled himself in front of the cold pasta, trying hard not to pull a face.
“Thanks for swinging by,” Neil’s voice was tight. “Hey, Billy?” The boy stiffened in his chair, looking to his dad immediately.
“Yes, sir?” His voice was meek, shaky.
“Why don’t you walk Miss Gabby to the door, tell her thank you, and I’ll heat your dinner back up for you?” Neil offered, drying his hands on his jeans and heading to the table. Billy looked like a deer caught in headlights as he scrambled off the dining room chair, nodding quickly.
“Yes, sir,” he repeated before looking up at Gabby. The blonde woman smiled reassuringly and let BIlly lead the way to the front door.
“Thank you again for being so helpful, Billy. Now, I’m going to give you this,” she explained, handing him a small, rectangular piece of paper. “This has my phone number on it. If you’re ever scared or in danger, you can call me and I’ll come find you, okay?”
Billy nodded quickly, shoving the paper in his pocket without hardly looking at it. “Thank you,” he mumbled under his breath, and Gabby ruffled his hair before she walked out the door and Billy was able to close it behind her.
Feeling like his feet were way too heavy, Billy shuffled back into the kitchen, where Neil was pulling a plate of spaghetti out of the microwave. “You better put your ass in that seat and eat this food,” the man ordered, and Billy scrambled to obey. “Who in the hell did you talk to?!”
The plate slammed down onto the placemat in front of Billy, causing the smaller boy to flinch. “N-nobody!” he insisted tearfully. He shoved a forkful of pasta into his mouth, ignoring the way the sauce burned every inch of his mouth from being too hot.
“You better hope she doesn’t come back,” Neil huffed as he moved back to clean the kitchen, slamming dishes too hard into the sink. “You won’t like it if she does.”
“Yes, sir,” Billy whispered, blinking tears out of his eyes. He continued to eat his dinner, knowing the faster his plate was clean, the sooner Billy could get out from under his father’s burning glare.
When Billy finally made his way to the bathroom to shower that night, Billy pulled the piece of paper Gabby had given him out of his pocket, staring at it for a minute. He knew if his dad found it, he’d be in way more trouble, so Billy ripped it up into little tiny pieces, flushing it down the toilet.
And it was a good thing he did, too. Because as soon as Billy came out of the bathroom, Neil was grabbing Billy’s dirty clothes from his arms, searching the pockets for anything he could find. The searched clothes were tossed to the floor, and Neil growled, “Pick ‘em up. Get in bed.”
It was too early for bed, Billy wanted to argue. He still had math homework! But before he could open his mouth, a smack to the shoulder sent pain radiating through Billy’s body. “Boy, I told you to do something!”
“Yes, sir,” Billy whispered, scrambling to pick up his jeans before running into his room. Neil followed after him, lecturing about respect and responsibility, while Billy tried to dodge his father’s swinging hands unsuccessfully.
By the time Neil left Billy’s bedroom, Billy was crying. His torso and thighs were pounding where his dad had hit him, and the threats Neil had given him echoed in Billy’s mind as he laid himself down in his bed. “If that woman shows up here again because of something you said, you’re not gonna be able to talk for a week.”
For a woman whose job was to make kids in Hawkins safe, her showing up really didn’t help Billy feel safe. He hoped he never had to see her again.

Person A doesn’t know why Person B can see them, but Person B refuses to buy any lie they try to offer them, so Person A begrudgingly lets Person B come along while they explain the truth.

Hi, i hope you're well! Do you by any chance know the fic where Namjin are foster parents and slowly foster the other boys as kids, and then end up adopting them? It's a little angsty and its not something i'd normally read but it was so so good and i can't seem to find it anywhere. Thought it was worth a shot! 💕
Okay, so there's a few fics that I've found like this, and these are both series' of fics so I'm not sure if either of these are exactly what you're looking for, but they sort of fit the bill:
Namjin + Foster Parents
namjin foster au by ksjmarina (18 words, 410K)
Creating a Home by CheekyBrunette (9 works, 245K)

Unchained Constellations
Sirius gets why, he wasn’t the best kid by all means. He yelled back, he lied, he didn’t do his homework, he was a rebel. So truly he gets it when he gets pulled out of school by a bunch of cops, and he understands why when they tell him he’s not going to live at his own home anymore. Of course his parents would send him away, it makes sense, he truly honestly gets why.
In which Sirius gets taken into foster care and blames himself, and Remus makes him fall in love.
Ahhhh it’s coming guys. Keep me motivated 😭🙏🏻
This is definitely no where near done but it’s a huge milestone to get to this point! Let me know if you guys are even interested in this😂
It’s gonna be over double at the end point (I’m aiming for like 100 ish pages)

I love your AUs and I'm very curious about the drift away one: how is Bojack's life in foster care and who is his friend?
Bojack’s life in the foster care is… very not good!
His friend is… Herb Kazzaz! (You know me, of course I had to bring Herb into this!)
I’ve seen a few fanfics where Herb was adopted, which is one of the reasons he was inspired to make a show where orphans get adopted, so yeah, I used that for this au.
Herb meets Bojack and is super protective of him. Herb’s 3 years older than Bojack (canonically, he was born in 1961) and has been in the foster care for a few years at this point. They get separated whenever they get fostered out, but whenever they end up back in the same foster home/group home they’re inseparable. Of course, when Herb finally gets adopted, they’re separated for good… at least that’s what Bojack thinks, despite the fact that Herb promised to come back for him whenever he could.
Then when Herb turns 18, he goes on a journey to find Bojack and get him out of the foster care system. Herb finds Bojack (who’s 15), busts him out (idk whether he’d do it legally or not lol), and they’re inseparable again

WIPpet (wip snippet)
Tagged by @floating-in-the-blue. Just for you, some 'it's Willie's birthday' from the Foster Care AU, featuring 'Alex spent like 40 hours on Etsy to find that gift'.
There were art supplies from Carlos and Reggie. Tacky fake holographic tattoos from Flynn. A pair of sneakers customised with Julie’s doodles, all skateboards and pencils and raccoons and UFOs. Luke and Bobby had gotten them an assortment of potato chips in ridiculous flavours from ‘all the shady little bodegas we could find’.
Alex got them a ridiculous little locket shaped like a hotdog, with a picture of the two of them inside. They giggled so hard they nearly fell off their seat, pressing a kiss to Alex’ cheek. And then of course they swept their hair up so he could put it on them, and got to watch Alex go all flustered while Bobby muttered something about Alex ‘freaking out over the sight of Willie’s neck like you’re a Victorian spotting an ankle’ behind them.
(no pressure) tagging @bananakarenina, @jmrothwell, and @wr0temyway0ut

Greatly Exaggerated
Chapter 1 is up!
Behold! The long-promised Allura-centric fic for the foster care au! Total fic is 5 chapters. I have them all written out and edited and am aiming to update every other days. Big thanks to @headspacedad to beta-ing for me and assuring me this is a story worth sharing!
