Throughout the entire series, no one talks to Azriel the way Gwyn does.
She doesn’t seem to be afraid of his shadows, doesn't stare at his hands, and doesn’t seem concerned over his aloofness. She is comfortable around him, teasing him, and he’s just as comfortable with her, teasing back.
Cassian is puzzled about what’s bothering Azriel until they drive into prepping the Valkyries for the blood rite, but he sees so clearly how Azriel looks at Gwyn. Nesta, too, notices how differently Gwyn treats Azriel, calling him her new ribbon.
Without Gwyn, Nesta wouldn't have strived to do better, and without Gwyn, no one else would have signed up the first time Nesta tried to do something for someone other than Elain.
Cassian knew to bring up Gwyn and Emerie to get Azriel to abandon the mission to rescue Eris, and Azriel’s siphons and shadows reacted in contrast to what he said.
Nesta grew apart from Elain and grew closer to Gwyn. It’s not surprising to me, for Azriel to be so similar to Nesta, to follow suit as well.

Dear Emerie,
I hope you’re enjoying your time away. Just know that we miss you here in the city, but I hope your travels are everything you want them to be. I cannot wait for you to return and tell Gwyn and I all about your thrilling endeavors. She is convinced that you have found someone in which your soul cannot live without, but I have assured her that it is nothing more than a foreign fling.
I cannot wait to see who is right!
To answer your very thoughtful questions, I am doing just fine. You know how Tomas is, but he is busy with his business and I find peace in the distance that brings between us. I have found myself wondering one thing — what is it like to attend a ball as an unmarried lady? We used to have little get-togethers in my village, of course, but nothing as grand as the balls in Velaris. I used to love to dance and each time I attend one of these gatherings I cannot help but daydream of dancing once again. Of course, it is not common for a married lady to dance, and Tomas would never. It is a lovely thought though, isn’t it? I know you are content with your life as a spinster (which I admire), but even you love a good turn about the dancefloor.
Perhaps one day I will be privileged enough to just get a tease of what it is like.
Write back soon. Be safe. We miss you!
With Love,
Nesta
Nesta
I hate luncheons. Especially women-only luncheons. The only perk is that I don’t have to attend them with Tomas, but that is by far the only perk. All of these women think they’re better than me and each other. Every one of them has something shoved so far up their asses that I’m surprised they can still walk.
They’re all talking about their husbands, how amazing they are, how perfect their lives are, but I can’t seem to contribute to the conversation. I may be forced to be here by my husband but I’m not about to praise his name.
As I sip my lemonade, I let my mind drift back to where it’s been, repeatedly, constantly, for the past week. Ever since he left my home, ever since I ran into him outside just after midnight, the image of him has been branded into my mind. It doesn’t matter if I’m awake or asleep, I can see his face, his smile, the intense look in his eyes as he looks at me. I can hear him saying my name, voice low and rough, like no man has ever said it before.
I’ve dreamt of him, fell asleep every night to these fantasies that I can’t control.
They started off seemingly innocent, the two of us dancing, touching tentatively, doing nothing more than following the same steps that everyone knows, getting lost in the music as we stare into one another’s eyes. That innocence didn’t last long; it quickly escalated.
Last night had me writhing in my bed, needing friction, needing release, needing something far greater than what my fingers could offer. I worked myself roughly, imagining my fingers were his, imagining his cock was hard and inside me, pounding into me again and again, recklessly.
I was no virgin when I married Tomas, and although he would claim otherwise, my husband in full denial, that means I know what I like. Laying with Tomas is a chore, one that I have never enjoyed, one that never lasts long or gives me any sort of satisfaction. I know what I like in bed, what I like from a man, and I have no doubt that a man like Lord Cassian can give me just that.
Not that it would ever happen.
Of course. I am a lady, the wife of a renowned lord, and a woman of high society would never act so immorally.
I can dream, though. I can let those unholy thoughts fill my mind, imagine a man like Lord Cassian exploring every inch of my bare body while I fall into a state of utter ecstasy.
“Lady Nesta?”
My eyes snap up and meet the Lady Cresseida’s from across from me. Her smile is sly and I’m tempted to match it with one of my own, but I don’t.
“Are you well? You look a little flush,” she continues, mockingly.
“I am feeling a little under the weather,” I confess. A complete lie, but if they’re asking, I may as well take advantage of it. “Perhaps I’ll take my leave.”
They all nod in farewell, but I know that none of them care. I, however, am overjoyed at the excuse to leave. I make haste, wasting no time as I rise to my feet and stride out of the home in which the luncheon is being held.
The second I’m in my carriage, I call for my driver to take me home.
The long way.
But, it’s always the long way. I stopped asking a long time ago. Now, they just take me home the long way when I’m by myself. They just think I enjoy the scenery, find peace in a ride by myself in the quiet. Or, perhaps they know the truth, that I loathe my husband and hate being in his presence, in his home, our home, and they just keep quiet about it.
I wonder what the help talks about when they’re alone, when they’re in their own quarters, far away from us. I wonder if they truly hate me, if they hate Tomas. I wonder what they think of our marriage, if they know it’s as awful as it truly is.
I’ll never know. I’ll never ask. Either way, I’m grateful that they drive me the long way home.
As soon as the wheels begin wobbling down the cobblestone, I lean back against the bench and close my eyes. The velvet lined seats are soft enough to relax on, and the moment I’m comfortable, I let my mind wander.
Back to him.
His hands.
His cock.
I know I’m pitiful, know that these fantasies mean absolutely nothing and the reality of my life, my marriage, is still in shambles. But they’re a small reprieve, because if I cannot control my reality, at least I can control my thoughts to a certain extent.
Those thoughts drift to Lord Cassian.
We don’t know each other and we surely never will. Perhaps that’s what makes him the perfect candidate for these fantasies, for these wandering thoughts. He’s a stranger, one that I’ve gotten a feel for, certainly, but still a stranger.
I wonder what he looks like nude. I’ve tried to imagine it many times, have pictured what I thought, but I imagine it doesn’t compare to the reality of his body. He’s muscular, of that I have no doubt, and the part that matters most is long, thick, and wielded like a weapon.
I don’t even realize that I’m inching up my skirts until my hand has made its way into my undergarment and the tip of my finger grazes my throbbing clit. I circle it slowly, biting my lip to keep myself silent. I’ve touched myself more in the last week than I have in the last decade but I have no shame.
It’s hard to feel shame when your senses are alive and thriving.
Sex is not bad. It is not a sin to feel desire, although my husband would claim otherwise. In fact, he claims that women should find no pleasure whatsoever when it comes to sex, which seems to be the reason why the focus is never on me when he visits my room. No, he does what he likes until he gets off, having no idea how to truly please a woman.
Lord Cassian — the man I have made up in my mind this last week?
He knows how to please a woman.
He knows how to leave her gasping, screaming, how to make the eyes roll back in her head. He knows how to make her back arch, how to make her toes curl, how to make her cry out for the gods, the Mother, the Cauldron. He knows how to make that little feeling, wild and unruly, go mad in the pit of a woman’s stomach until she can no longer contain herself, until her heart is bursting out of her chest and she’s seeing stars.
He knows how to make a woman find release and he doesn’t stop until she’s found it.
I grip the plush velvet seat cushion as I squeeze my legs together, trapping my hand within. We hit a bump in the road and I jolt, but it only adds to the madness that I’m currently drowning myself in.
My other hand joins my first and I pump two fingers deep inside of me, working in tandem with the one still making joyous circles over that sensitive bundle of nerves. A long string of words falls from my mouth in a devout whisper, words that would bring shame to my husband and his name, words that no lady should voice but I cannot help it.
His face is in my mind, his smile unfurling behind my closed lids. His body is bare and his hands are roaming my body, every stripped inch of me. I call out his name and he urges me on, thriving on my indecent vocalization.
Within the confines of my coach, I throw a hand over my mouth to muffle what I cannot control while I find my release with those loyal, fervent fingers of mine. I keep moving until my body grows limp, that intensity that makes me feel alive fading into nothingness yet again. I smooth out my skirts and lean back against the bench, fighting to catch my breath.
I wonder if my driver suspects anything but find that I don’t care. No one would ever dare tell Tomas, would not dare anger the Lord Mandray.
No one would be that idiotic. It would be a death sentence, the messenger every bit at fault as I.
I can’t help myself. I laugh.
I break into such a fit of laughter that I fear I’m going insane, but oh, it feels so good to laugh!
I laugh until tears are rolling down my cheeks and my sides begin to hurt, and it’s only when I collect myself that I realize it was the first time I had laughed in a long, long while. It feels good to laugh, as mad as I may seem. There is something utterly triumphant about feeling pure, demented joy.
Staring out the window, I watch Velaris pass by as we make our way back to House Mandray. By the time we arrive, all of my wonderful, demented joy has faded.
. . . . . . . . . . . .
Cassian
“What do you mean you’re not going?”
We’re sitting around Azriel’s dining room table, feasting on roasted chicken, when my brothers decide to insert themselves into my personal business, yet again.
“I’ve been to two balls this season.” I sigh, stabbing a carrot. “I don’t need to attend another.”
Azriel and Rhys look at one another, concern written plainly on their faces, but I pretend I don’t see it.
“Besides,” I continue, “none of the ladies have caught my eye this season. It is a waste of time.”
“But you love to dance,” Azriel says, the same time Rhys says, “but you love to drink.”
It’s true. I adore both of those things, but I know where the next ball is being held, and even I am not courageous enough to step foot into the Mandray’s house again.
Nothing untoward happened with Nesta and I in the garden, but it was inappropriate, nonetheless. I was a little tipsy after my closed door meeting with Tomas, but I still had my wits about me. I know that I should not have been alone with Nesta, but I couldn’t stop myself.
From the moment I saw her under the starlight, I was gone.
“I thought your meeting with Tomas went well,” Rhys pushes, buttering his roll. The same roll that he’d already been buttering for over a minute.
“It did,” I say, and leave it at that.
They, however, will not leave it at that.
“Then this has to do with the wife,” Azriel says, mouth full of potatoes.
It’s only the three of us.
Manners be damned.
Across from him, Rhys’ eyes light up and swivel back in my direction. “Ah, the wife. Lady Mandray. Did you come on to her again?”
I drop my knife and fork with a clatter and rub my temples. “No, I did not flirt with Nesta.”
“Nesta?” They both repeat in unison, and I instantly realize my mistake.
“Lady Mandray,” I correct myself using her formal title, “and I simply do not see what she has to do with my absence.”
“You have always been a terrible liar,” Rhys quips, clearing his plate. “But, if you wish to live in a state of deception, so be it.”
“I’m not—” I take a deep breath before I can let my frustration take control. I’ve always been prone to anger, as much as I loathe the fact. “I’m not lying. I simply do not wish to attend a party when I can be home, working.”
Drinking in solitude is more like it, but that’s beside the point.
“Work is all well and good but you must allow yourself to have fun every now and again,” Azriel says, his tone as skeptical as Rhysand’s. “Besides, haven’t we established that it’s about time you marry?”
“If it’s time I marry, it’s time we all marry,” I grumble.
Azriel suddenly looks horrified while Rhys chokes on his wine. I know that neither of them are ready to be a husband, although we are all quickly approaching our third decade of life. Rhys sometimes pretends that he is, but when it comes down to it, I cannot even imagine him with any of the women of the ton.
No young lady could handle Rhysand.
Azriel is different. I cannot tell if he’ll ever marry. It’s not that he has never been in a relationship or that he is incapable of love. He loves stronger than perhaps anyone I have ever known. I’ve always felt that is the very reason why he keeps himself so guarded. The only people he’s ever truly let get to know him are me, Rhys, Mor, and Amren. There was a time when he pined after Mor, but that was so long ago.
“I am perfectly content as I am,” I go on, trying to convince them or myself I am not certain. I pick up my silverware yet again and make another attempt at finishing my supper. My carrots have gone cold. I hate cold carrots.
“Back to the ball,” Rhys says, sitting back in his chair and stretching out his legs. “You’re going.”
“I am not going.”
“If you’re not going, then we do not go. If we do not go, we will be sad.”
“Your sadness is none of my concern.”
“Now you’re just being mean.” Rhys pours himself another glass of wine while Azriel’s eyes swivel between us. “If this is about Lady—”
“Lady Mandray is none of my concern.” Perhaps I should have waited for his sentence to end before mine began, but I have never been good at holding my tongue.
“If she is none of your concern, then you will join us,” he says, smoothly, and he knows he’s already won before I even begin to resign. “We will drink their champagne and dance across their perfectly polished floors until sunrise while we are still young enough to do so.”
Azriel finally finishes his third plate of food and sits back with a groan as I sigh. “You’re intolerable.”
“He takes that as a compliment, you know,” Azriel murmurs, and I’m afraid he’s correct. There’s always been a darkness to Rhysand. Not an evilness, never evil, but a certain…edge. A certain slyness, a manipulation of sorts. In another life, I’m convinced he ruled his own kingdom.
Kingdoms.
“I will join you,” I say, at last, and Rhys grins as he dwells in his victory.
I, however, feel nothing but unease. The thought of seeing Lady Nesta again so soon both excites and revolts me. I haven’t been able to get her face out of my mind, haven’t been able to shake that feeling that I had when I spoke to her.
Even though I was lost and she surely thinks me a fool.
No matter. She can think me a fool as long as she’s thinking of me.
The Mother knows I’ve been thinking about her.

MASSIVE UNPOPULAR OPINION AHEAD
Could the next book be Elriel? YES! Could the next book be Elucien? I don’t lean towards this theory, but I will not deny the reasons why people might think otherwise.
Will the next book be Gwynriel? No.
There’s not going to be a Gwynriel book. There never was. The Gwynriel book makes no sense within the narrative, deviates heavily from the clear structure of the ACOTAR series, and has no real ties to the main plot. Gwyn and Az going to the Autumn Court because Rhys, who has never met Gwyn and has no reason to trust her as Nesta’s friend given the fact he hardly trusts Nesta herself, is a stretch. The Autumn Court is a subplot clearly intended for Eris or Lucien to handle.
Reforming Illyria? Thats for Emorie. And no, I will not take any other opinions on this. She is the ONLY character suited for this plot. And if SJM decides to write otherwise... well, I won’t be reading that.
The next book is very clearly going to either be Elucuien or Elriel. Period.
SJM isn’t GRRM. And ACOTAR isn’t a complex story filled with subversions. It’s a romantasy. The romantic pairing isn’t meant to surprise us or subvert our expectations. It’s literally, as the author said, meant to be obvious.
And it is.
Elain will be choosing her fate, her love interest, her path forward. If she chooses Azriel then we will get Lucien’s story afterwards. If Elain chooses Lucien? Then we get Vassa’s story with her love interest for the last book. The decision and choice lies within the women. SJM has never pitted two women against one another for a man and I do not expect her to do so now.
“Oh, but TOD!”
Yes, Tower of Dawn is from Chaol’s POV... but it’s also from Nesryn’s and Yrene’s and Sartaq’s POVs. Does SJM write male POVs? Yes! Is that formula the same for ACOTAR? No. It’s one couple per book, and an entirely different series besides. The men get a POV, but only as a secondary character.
Does this mean Gwyn and Az wont get together?
No, not necessarily. Gwyn and Az could totally get together but, due to their limited connection to Koschei and the 4th dread trove, it’d be a relationship that happens off stage. In the background of another couple. With no Az or Gwyn POV.
Gywn is a lovely, amazing, and strong character who had a very fulfilling arc in ACOSF. Does she have a few unanswered plot points? Sure! But her heritage is not connected to Koschei. Her (potential) powers are not connected to Koschei. She does not know the members of the IC outside of Nesta. She has no established relationship with Feysand. She has not (yet) left the Library. And, outside of the theories generated by members of this fandom based on their own literary interpretation of the Bonus Chapter, doesn’t have a formally established connection to Azriel (yet.)
Could she? Of course.
But I trust SJM enough to think she’d never write Gwyn’s story leaving the Library solely for a man. If Gwyn leaves the Library, it should be for herself. No one else. Never for anyone else. Gwyn is powerful within her own right and I want to see her make the decision to leave the Library FOR HERSELF.
Could SJM decide to go this route? Sure! I’m not the author and it’s her story at the end of the day.
But if she does choose to pursue this route.... is this not exact same plot we just had in ACOSF?
FMC feeling unworthy and dealing with trauma, MMC dealing with potential rejection and an undressed connection, training with sword and shield to overcome self doubt, proving oneself in battle and realizing they’re worthy of love, handling changes in one’s life and finding one’s place?
ACOSF was great and I LOVED Nesta’s story. But does that mean I want to read the same thing again? No. Elriel and Elucien offer a different story from what we just read. It’s either a enemies to lovers/hesitant pairing to lovers. Or a forbidden love story. And that’s what I want. Something new. I’m tired of training. I’m tried of HoW. I’m tired of Koschei, this apparent death god, being sidelined. I want the impending war. I want the political fallout. I want inner-court drama. I want unrest in Prythian.
NOTE: Obviously everyone is entitled to their opinion, and this post by no means strives to discount or dissuade individuals with other opinions but is more or less a rambling of my own ideas. Civilized discourse with those of differing opinion is always welcomed. Literature is art and art is subjective.
idk do with this what you will.

Thoughts from an Elriel at heart who loves all ships and characters.
I’ve gained a bunch of new followers lately so… idk. Hi? This is the only post I will make about this btw. The only time I will share my thoughts on ships and the state of the fandom. My blog is a pro-positivity blog! So step into my mind for a brief minute before I bury this post on my blog and eventually delete it lol. I don’t tolerate negativity or bullying on my page at all. It’s an Instablock.
TL;DR: I love my elriel forever and forever. But all ships are hot regardless of canon and I don’t think it’s cool to police people around in fandom when we are all just here to have a good time. My blog is a place for everyone.
If this post isn’t to your liking in any way, keep scrolling and have a great day!
Okay it’s honesty hour. I genuinely think Elucien and Gwynriel could happen. Now listen.
I think that given enough time, their relationships could turn into true, deep romances.
But as of right now, where the series is at, there is no room for time. Koschei has been teased for like three books now and has made an actual appearance in the last book. He’s definitely going to be the villain that is fought in the next book (or two.) Plot wise, I don’t think there will be a big waiting period, meaning the next book will pick up almost right away. And considering it’s a romance book mainly, the actual romance has to start then too! Right away!
And I think Elain and Azriel are the only ones who have that build up to convincingly lead a romance book together.
So yes. I think Gwynriel has the potential to be a great couple. I think Elucien would be amazing.
Just not in this universe. Not right now.
Which is fine. I know, I just know the part of my heart that roots for these couples would be crushed by the story they would have if they were rushed and crammed into the next book. I’m already really wary of SJMs writing from the way she handled acosf and her re-write of Hofas. I don’t trust her with these ships to be honest. I think no one can write gwynriel and Elucien better than the incredible INCREDIBLE fanfic writers we have in this fandom. (I love you guys!)
I think in the canon world, they need more development. I need to see Elucien form a bond not influenced by their mating one first! I need to see Gwyn and Azriel’s healing on their own before they get together.
But Elain and Azriel? They have a story that’s already rolling. It’s been building since the moment they met, before Elain met Lucien and before Azriel started training with Gwyn.
So unless SJM kills one of them off, Elriel will own my head, heart, body, soul, and entire conscience LOL. 😂
But alas, Sarah is a very emotional writer. And I cannot NOT fall in love with almost every character she gives us. Years from now, one of these couples will be canon and I’ll still be reading fic and drawing for the others.
And isn’t that the point? It makes me sad that this fandom has developed the mindset that you’re not allowed to like multiple things. That there is a right and a wrong. That you have to pick sides.
Where are the people who love these books as a whole, not just those who are here for one couple that’s up in the air? Maybe I’m just old, but normally fandom is a place where everyone comes together for the love of all of it, not the hatred of part of it. 🤷‍♀️

Hello Harley! nice ask week query for you! give me your top 5 Lone Star scenes please and thank you 💜
Top five scenes??? Gosh, This is hard!!
Before we start, Hello. My name is Harley and I love angst. My choices here probably explain a lot...
I am doing this off the top of my head because I have never put a list together until now. It is also very late so if I forget an iconic scene that would be criminal for me to leave out, I'm sorry. I will definitely correct myself in the morning and add onto this if that is the case.
The best scene in the entire show HAS to be the TK waking up/Grace giving birth sequence, right? I think it's safe to say that nobody is doing it like her. Just the two extremely emotional situations that could only really be described as miracles, both coming to fruition after four episodes of angst. The music choice?? The acting??? TK and Carlos finding their way back to each other and barely having to say anything, and Grace and Judd being able to have this experience together in spite of everything that stood in that path. The pain you can feel from Owen as he watches a new life coming into this world, unaware that his son is waking up at the same exact time. Like the choices that were made here were just brilliant. Push, my beloved, there is a reason I just wrote 23k words about you.
This is a combination of two from the same episode, the first one being that period of silence after Tommy finds Charles in 2x13. It's one of the most emotional scenes I've ever watched in any show, and it does so much without relying on sound. The second one is at the end of the same episode where she is finally able to cry, and this is also one of my favorite musical moments from the show, if you recognized the lyrics in my blog title!
The entire plane landing sequence in 3x08. Another favorite musical moment of mine, but also just an amazing scene in general. I'm a sucker for all the 'begins' type episodes, and the way that scene switches between the past and present is really well done and definitely gets me crying every time.
I absolutely have to include the scene in 2x02 where we get a glimps at each character mourning after Tim's death. It's another one of those scenes that does a lot with very little. Incredible acting, and it gave us that beautiful moment where TK comes home to Carlos and collaspes in his arms. Such a memorable scene for me.
I'm going to be on my Owen bs for a hot second here so please bear with me. It had actually been a while since I watched this scene so I almost forgot how much I enjoyed it, but I watched 3x18 again recently and the scene where Owen is hallucinating talking to Gwyn fucking broke me. As well as the rest of the scene that followed where he's rescued. The best way I could describe their love story is a beautiful tragedy. You can tell Owen has carried around a lot of guilt for how it ended, and you can't help but wonder how different things could have been if they had worked out, and if she had lived. I think it was an incredibly important scene to have as well, if you also take into account everything we learned about Owen in 3x15 and 3x16. His journey over the past two seasons is something I have appreciated immensely. We learned that he lost his brother and his father in different, yet equally tragic ways, he lost the love of his life, he lost a brother AGAIN so soon after metting him, and after all that loss he still had to find a way to focus on the people who were still there. I think that 3x18 scene in particular is beautiful, but it also sums up a lot of the emotions I have surrounding his character and why I love him so much.
Honorable mentions include: soulmates scene, proposal scene, intro scene in 4x18 where they postpone the wedding, the entire being alive sequence, the call between Grace and that astronaut in 1x10, Hen and Owen talking when they're trapped in the mine in 2x03, Carlos crying after the fire, Marjan keeping herself alive by hallucinating her younger self in road kill, and literally any scene from saving grace and shift-less.
Plus many others that I have inevitably forgotten. Please yell at me and tell me what I missed because I can be a ding dong sometimes and I am overdo for a full rewatch.

Ranking the main characters of ACOTAR
Nesta Archeron - so nesta is one of the most realistic characters sjm has ever written. her depiction of mental illness and PTSD is something i relate to a lot. The way she was treated in ACOSF is bs and i will never forgive the inner circle for pulling that shit :) (my queen my love my boo thang
Gwyn and Emerie- they're perfect angels. I love emerie and i hope sjm actually takes the fucking time to explore her characterization and sexuality. i need ONE GOOD DEPICTION OF A WLW WOMAN IN THIS SERIES PLEASE GOD PLEASE.
Feyre Archeron- uhh she's sexy? idk I'm really sad about what SJM did with her character. much like nesta she kind of tamed her? instead of being this strong amazing feminist icon she just kinda became a glorified secretary/desk lady for Rhys? idk domestic feyre gives me the bit of an ick. However, on the rare occasion when Feyre is not with Rhys, i fucking adore her.
Lucien- he's the only male character i can tolerate in this book. even though after he found out about elain he became a bit of a possessive little bitch.
Amren (minus Acosf i still haven't forgiven her)
Morrigan- She's mid. Based on her characterization I feel like SJMaas has never actually talked to a queer woman. or a queer period. like wtf do you mean her coming out scene was a chapter long. shut up?? anyways hasty bad lgbtq rep as per usual
Elain Archeron- I feel like her character has a TON of potential and I honestly don't have anything against her. I just wish Sarah tapped into her character more
Cassian- the shit he pulled in acosf is unforgivable. I only ever like him when he's with nesta.
Azriel- stop treating this man like he's the next coming of christ. he's boring. he never talks. he simped for a woman who clearly didn't like him for like a billion years. as a lesbian i simple Dont Get It
Rhys- Stop treating this man like he invented feminism. he did not. he sexually assaulted feyre under the mountain, coerced her into a shady ass deal, and treated nesta like shit for something that wasn't really her fault? Also hid the fact that FEYRE COULD FUCKING DIE. WTF DUDE??? LIKE SORRY???
Tamlin- uh i mean goes without saying. BUT also Sarah J Maas is SHITTTTT at depicting toxic relationships. seriously Feylin had the most cartoony ass 2D ass abusive relationship like wtf

Pia! That callback to Court of Five Thrones was amazing?!?! I couldn't believe it, Mosk saying those words. How long did you have that planned? the words were perfect too, like you wrote them for this moment as well as that one. I read that bit like six times in a row ^.^
AHHHHH
Okay well, firstly, I absolutely did not have it planned that Mosk would say it, when I wrote it back in The Court of Five Thrones.
But before planning book 3, I actually went on a huge reread on all the series, and made notes on all the things I wanted to follow up on, close up, or circle back on (that I could reasonably do). When I read Gwyn's debut speech, I knew exactly at that moment how I wanted it to come back and in what form.
That also helped me start to really see how integral Mosk and Gwyn's relationship would be in book 3, as a way of tying Gwyn and Augus into the story more closely so that we get so much more of them in book 3 compared to books 1/2, and that we also get so much closer to Mosk (and Eran) in the process as well.
So I'd say I had it planned for a couple of years, since planning book 3 of The Ice Plague #3. It felt so good to finally get to that chapter and write it. When I planned Mosk and Gwyn getting closer, I never planned that they'd ever hug for example, I never thought Mosk would become brave enough. But he grew through knowing Eran (and his heartsong) and he did, and that became something I could add into the chapter to make it richer.
It's definitely one of those moments I'm kind of proud of as a writer though. It really did make everything come full circle. They're the words Gwyn needs to hear, but they're also the words that sort of represent what's happening in The Ice Plague in general.
There's actually less callbacks going forward, mostly because we're hitting the crunch period where I'm writing a lot of action scenes instead. I spent a lot of time (months) actually thinking out the battle, and I literally made a strategy map of the kind Gwyn would use in order to figure out what was going to happen. I've never put that much thought into a battle before ever lmao.
Anyway, I'm so glad you enjoyed that part of the story! I wish I'd had it planned for that long, but I still think having it planned for this book was pretty cool :D :D

Nyx and Catrin Archeron-Berdara pt. I
How the shadowsinger and the heir to the Night Court come together
Tumblr media
Nyx isn’t around when Catrin is born nearly twenty years after him.
He left to dedicate himself to the studies of a potential High Lord.
He’s gone for nearly twenty years (a blink of an eye to the fae) studying everything from combat in Windhaven to diplomacy in the Human Lands to customs in every court.
During that period he does not visit Velaris. He remains in this self-imposed exile much to the solemn pride of his family. They drop in on occasion to say hello, but Nyx is very dedicated to his mission so he is keen on dismissing them not long after they arrive.
Finally, he returns to Velaris after two decades, and even though she’s been fae for quite some time, it shocks Feyre just how little her son has changed in eighteen years.
But while he was away, much has transpired.
His Uncle Cassian and Aunt Nesta, in addition to their eighteen year old twin girls, have just had their third daughter.
“An army of Nestas,” his Uncle Cassian says with great affection.
And his Uncle Azriel and Aunt Gwyn, have added a boy to their family. A very proud five year old named Adrian.
Nyx introduces himself and the boy starts rattling off about his favorite books and how his father is teaching him to play piano, but his favorite topic is his sister Catrin.
“Catrin is training with the Valkyrie and I haven’t seen her in a year! And I’m jealous because she has wings and I don’t and she also has shadows, like my papa! But she says I’m the smartest, but I don’t know, I think she’s pretty amazing even if I am cleverer!”
And Nyx listens and listens to the boy ramble about his very awesome big sister, growing more and more curious with every new detail he learns.
She’s got wings.
She plays piano
She is training to be a Valkyrie with a specialty in investigation — much like her father.
A shadowsinger, Nyx thinks to himself.
And he decides that if he does become High Lord, it wouldn’t be the worst idea to follow in his father’s footsteps and have a shadowsinger warrior as his right hand.
And Catrin has been raised with immeasurable ambition, much thanks to her mother.
Catrin’s shadows came to her just before her tenth birthday. They scared the daylights out of her at first, but then her father taught her how to use them.
And when she turned fifteen, she told her father that she would like to follow in his footsteps. She’d like to become a Valkyrie and eventually, Spymaster.
“You’re out for my job?” Azriel smirks.
Catrin shrugs. “Don’t worry. I’d like to gain some experience as one of your spies first.” She returns her father’s crooked grin. “Consider it training your replacement… And I’m sure it would be nice to be out of your brother’s employ. You can bully him without the risk of being fired.”
“I’m actually not sure Rhysand would be your High Lord if you became Spymaster…”
And Catrin is confused because her uncle is nowhere near close to death.
“Rhysand always wanted change. Nyx is going to come back eventually, prepared and ready to take his father’s throne.”
“But… what if he isn’t the heir? What if he isn’t chosen?”
“Rhysand doesn’t much care for divine intervention,” Azriel says casually. “He cares about who is going to be a good High Lord.” A shrug. “And that may be Nyx.”
Catrin has never met Nyx, but if he’s potentially going to be the High Lord she serves, she realizes that she better demonstrate that she’s as dedicated as he is.
So Catrin trains day and night for years. And upon her 16th birthday, her father and mother give her her very own dagger.
Her baby brother’s jaw nearly hits the floor when she removes the silver plated dagger from it’s hilt. Her shadows dance along the blade excitedly.
“It needs a name, Catrin,” Azriel says with a pleased grin.
Catrin smiles and looks from the blade to her mother. “Silver Majesty.”
Gwyn elbows Azriel. “Told you it’s a brilliant name for a weapon.”
Never one to disagree with his mate, Azriel pecks his wife on the lips and Catrin thinks to herself: I wonder if I’ll ever find a love like that…
But back to the present: Nyx is back in Velaris. Catrin is training in Windhaven for the Bloodrite. It’s her and Nessian’s daughters working together to win.
Because they are going to win.
Emerie and Morrigan’s sons playfully challenge the three females, assuring them that they’ve as good as already earned the title of Carynthian.
The three females roll their eyes and go back to training with the other Valkyrie.
No one has to compete. The rite is much less deadly now but just as challenging.
But when Catrin heard that Nyx had won after two attempts, she knew that she had to try…
And that gods be damned, she would win on her first attempt.
Nessian’s daughters are both like “oh, fuck yes” and they’ve been training for two years.
And no surprise, at eighteen, the three females win the title of Carynthian on their first try.
That night, Feyre and Rhysand throw a party at the river house in honor of the three Valkyrie. Emerie and Morrigan’s sons are so very proud of their cousins and make a point of strutting about Windhaven whining exaggeratedly about how tough those three females were.
They don’t care that much about their loss. While the boys are skilled in combat and enjoy a good sparring session, they take after Morrigan. Despite their affinity for fighting, diplomacy is their specialty.
Nessian’s daughters and Catrin change out of their fighting leathers and don their Night Court black gowns. The twins wearing matching dresses that cling to the strong muscles of their bodies, and shimmer like stars.
Catrin’s dress compliments her shadows. The skirt is flowing chiffon and while the bodice’s neckline is relatively high cut, the dress has no back. Showcasing her wings and the black wisps of shadow that dance along her spine.
Feysand, Nessian, and Gwynriel have pulled out all the stops for their Carynthian kids.
And Nyx… for some reason that he can’t quite define… is very eager to meet Catrin. The last time he saw the Nessian twins they were babies, and Gwyn was months away from having her and Azriel’s first child.
He listens to Emerie and Morrigan’s sons describe every detail of the Blood Rite, including Catrin and Nessian twin’s victory.
“And Catrin had left snares and traps all at the base of the mountain!”
“The twins killed a snow beast that tried to attack in the night!”
“People were saying they painted their faces with blood!”
“Not blood, mud.”
“Oh… that’s still pretty brilliant.”
Nyx’s conversation with the boys is interrupted as applause breaks out in the parlor.
The three Carynthians have arrived.
And Nyx is awe struck.

Gwyn sends Azriel an SOS text bc she's run out of ice cream and she's on her period
hehehehe combining this with @julemmaes prompt request. soft Gwynriel incoming!
Tumblr media
Azriel was walking out of his last class for the day when he got a text from his girlfriend. He pulled his phone out of his pocket and read her texts, his anxiety going through the roof at her words. Or, rather, one word in particular.
SOS SOS SOS, she’d written.
He was dialing her number before he could even think. “Gwyn? What’s wrong?”
“Everything hurts,” she whined.
“Are you okay?” he asked, speeding up to get out of the social sciences building. He cursed every one of his fellow criminal justice majors as he fought his way through the crowds.
“I need ice cream,” she demanded. He heard her shifting around in the background and guessed she must have been lying down, probably in her bed surrounded by books as usual.
“And that was worth an SOS text?” he asked. He finally managed to make his way outside and started walking towards the garage. “You sure you’re okay?”
“I’m on my period and I need my amazing, sexy, loving boyfriend to bring me some ice cream,” she said, her voice sweet. “I think that’s worth an SOS text.”
Azriel cracked a smile even though she couldn’t see him. “Yeah, yeah, Berdara.”
“God, I love you,” Gwyn replied. “And make sure it’s cookie dough or else, pretty boy.”
“Yes ma’am,” he responded, chuckling. “I love you too. See you soon.”
Twenty minutes later he found himself cuddled up with his girlfriend, both of them sharing a pint of cookie dough ice cream. He’d even bought her a heating pad since she’d complained about losing hers last month, earning him an excited squeal.
Her bright hair tickled his face as he rested his head on top of hers. They were cuddling in her bed and she had on some true crime documentary, which he’d never expected her to be into, but she had a habit of surprising him.
“You’re the best boyfriend ever,” she said. She sighed happily as she took another bite of her ice cream. “You’re not allowed to break up with me, ever.”
“I’m just trying to keep up with you being such a good girlfriend,” he replied, smiling. He might pretend to be annoyed to do little things for her, but he thoroughly enjoyed fussing over her and taking care of her as best as he could. “You’re my favorite redhead. Believe me, I’m not going anywhere.”

Family : A Nessian Fanfic
Day 19 of Nessian month: Prompt: Nessian bonding with the IC.
Nesta gazed upon Cassian, Her hand firmly in his as Cassian knocked on the front doors of the river house, Feyre opened the door, a smile on her face, a hand pressed firmly to her swollen stomach before a five year old Nyx grinned at the sight of his aunt and uncle flinging himself in his aunt’s arms.
“Aunt Nes! You came!” Nyx exclaimed. A happy chuckle escaping her lips.
“Of course I came. I wouldn’t miss this for the world.“ Nesta smiled as Cassian cocked his head to the side staring at Nyx.
“What? No love for your favorite uncle?” He stated as Nyx’s eyes widened with excitement
“Is Uncle Az with you?” He questioned causing Nesta to hold in her laugh. Only five years old and he already mastered the art of a good come back. Even Feyre was reining in her smile.
“Say hi to your other uncle, sweetie.“ Feyre encouraged him as he wiggled himself out of Nesta’s arms and hugged Cassian.
“Hi Uncle Cass.“ He greeted. Nesta had no real idea why Nyx had grown more of an attachment to her than Cassian, but she guessed she would never really know that answer. Kids were always a mystery.
“Come inside, we’re just getting to cutting the cake.“ Feyre explained as Nesta and Cassian entered Nyx holding onto Feyre‘s hand.
Cassian‘s hand slid into hers before they entered the sitting area. Several of Nyx’s friends gathered around a table as he chatted away. He really was a social one.
Cassian pulled out a chair for Nesta, she thanked him as they took a spot beside Mor who greeted Casan with a hug.
“Long time, no see, stranger.” Mor greeted. Her smile dazzling across the whole room.
“That’s what happens when you go to the court of Nightmares for a whole six months.“
Mor shrugged taking a sip of her wine.
“It’s not easy to undo the damage the years have caused there, but perhaps in a few more years The Court of Nightmares will be a thing of the past and it can start anew.”
A fresh start. Something that a lot of the Night Court had needed. progress was slow, but nothing ever happened over night.
Nesta‘s eyes drew to Cassian, the curve of his lips at his friends accomplishment. The determination she had showed to take over the Court of Nightmares after her fathers passing and do what she thought she should have always done. Made more dreamers in the city of Nightmares. Nesta had even offered her assistance if Mor ever became overwhelmed. Which she had appreciated.
“How are things in Illyria?” Mor asked, her eyebrows raised in question at Cassian, who’s own smiled beamed, his arm going around Nesta. Pride shone in them with their accomplishments.
“We finally managed to convince Devlon to combine a two small units made up of both Illyrian and Valkeryie warriors. One of them are the younger generations who wish to become apart of the ranks and the others are the ones who have already went through the rite.”
“That’s amazing, I knew you two could do it.” Mor smiled looking over to Nesta.
“I couldn’t have done it without the steel will determination of my mate,“ Cassian explained pressing a kiss to the side of her temple.
“Don’t forget Emerie and Gwyn.” Nesta added.
“How could I ever?” Cassian smiled pressing a kiss to her hair.
“I thought the mating bond was supposed to die down some after a couple of years?” Amren asked sliding down in a chair, Varian by her side.
Cassian smirked at her. “You know that’s not how that works.“
“I dread the day you procreate boy. Hopefully the babe has its mother’s smarts.“
“I hope so too.“ Cassian told her making Nesta feel warm in her chest.
She had been thinking a lot about having children lately. Been having dreams of Cassian filling her with life. thinking of the one they would create together. Been gazing at the tea she had been using as her birth control for the past five years and been wanting to have a conversation about what his thoughts were if she stopped taking it, if they had started trying.
but they both had been so busy lately getting everything together that it had been a while since the two of them had time to be intimate, Had time to talk about the future that she wanted to have with him. Would they be able to have a baby? She knew getting pregnant as a fae could be difficult, but she was willing to try. She just needed a moment with him where they both weren’t exhausted.
Amren smirked seeming to catch how deep Nesta’s thoughts ran.
“I guess we’ll see when the time is right.“ She simply said leaning into Varian. Her wedding ring flashing in the light.
Before Cassian could say more, the door opened Azriel stepping through it as Nyx hugged him. Azriel placing Nyx on his back and carrying him into the dining room.
“Be careful there, Uncle Az, you may throw your back out.“ Cassian teased earning him an eye roll from Azriel.
“I’m in better shape than you.“ Azriel retorted. “I bet you couldn’t even lift him to your shoulders.”
“Is that so?” Cassian challeneed as Nesta heard a far off voice say.
“I hate to break up your bet with my son, but it’s time for presents.“ Rhys told them taking Nyx for Azriel’s shoulder. A wide grin on the boys face.
“Presents!” Nyx shouted happily running towards them as the other children followed. Feyre smiled rubbing at her abdomen absentmindedly.
“Do you think he’ll have any trouble not being an only child when his sister arrives?” Feyre asked as Rhys beamed.
“Not at all. though there definitely will be an adjustment period.“ Rhys assured her as Nesta looked back to Cassian. His gaze on Rhys and Feyre as Rhysand pressed a kiss to her sister’s cheek.
Nesta had always knew that Cassian had longed for a family of his own. It wasn’t that his close circle of friends wasn’t enough for him or even her, but she knew Cassian had always wanted children. She had been hesitant afraid if she would be a good mother or not.
He had assured her there was no rush for children. That he would wait hundreds of years if he had to so she could be ready for them. Nesta just had to make sure she was doing this as much for herself as she was for Cassian. She would not bring a child into this world unless both her and Cassisn were ready for one.
Nesta joined the others sitting down next to Feyre as Cassian joined Rhys and Azriel having a conversation that Nesta had no clue what it was about.
Elain was beside Mor and Amren, her laughter flooding over to them as she sent both her sisters a slight wave. Nesta waved back before turning back to Feyre, not sure how to start this particular conversation as they watched Nyx open his presents. His eyes growing wide at the mini paint set his mother had gotten him.
“Thanks mom!” Nyx said flinging his arms around Feyre’s neck as she pulled her son closer.
“You’re welcome baby.” Feyre said hugging him as Nesta took in the sight. She knew she wanted that with her own child. But she was still afraid that she would not be any good at motherhood.
Nesta watched as Nyx opened his other gifts, watching as he opened the toy that Nesta and Cassian had gotten for him. Thanking both of them with a hug.
Nesta‘s smile bloomed as she beheld the hug between Nyx and Cassian, Could almost see Cassian with their own son or daughter, How good of a father he would be. She wondered when Cassian saw her with Nyx if he thought the same thing.
“Is something on your mind?” Feyre asked when they both were alone in the kitchen. they were cleaning up while the others were in the living room showing Nyx how to use his toy and helping him set them up. Cassian had always been great at building things. He was putting the others to shame. A smile tugged at Nesta’s lips.
“When did you know?” She asked as Feyre stopped on the dish she was working on.
“Know about what?” She replied scrubbing at a really stubborn stain as Nesta handed her a better sponge.
“Thank you.“ She said as Nesta dried the dishes Feyre handed to her.
”How did you know you were ready to have a baby?” She asked. Feyre stopping mid scrub.
“Are you and Cassian-?” She started but Nesta interrupted her.
“No. At least not yet. I-I haven’t brought up the conversation with him yet.“ Shd told Feyre. Feyre nodded in understanding.
“I can understand that. It’s not a decision to take lightly. There’s a lot of factors to take into account.”
“Like how I feel like I would be a terrible mother?”
Feyre looked at Nesta with the same eyes they both had inherited from their mother.
”What makes you believe you’ll be a terrible mother?” Feyre asked. going back to the dishes.
“Because I couldn’t even take care of us when it mattered most.” She confided to Feyre.
“It wasn’t your job to take care of us. It was our fathers. “
“It wasn’t your job to take care of us either. but you still did it anyway.“
“It still doesnt mean it would have been right no matter which of us took care of the other. perhaps the real mistake was that we didnt take care of each other, but we were young and we’ll learn from those mistakes, God knows I still make them when it comes to my own child.”
“Please. You’re the definition of the perfect mother.” Nesta told her drying the dishes Feyre had worked on.
“I wouldn‘t say that. I still have the deal Rhys and I made which in retrospect wasn’t the brightest idea if you want to have kids.”
“You made a mistake, it happens to all of us.“
“I will admit we didn’t really think it through. the deal I mean. But no one ever said every decision was a rational one, but you’re deflectin. We were talking about you wanting kids.”
“I know it’s been years but I still have those intrusive thoughts that I’ll end up just like our mother.“ Nesta told her.
“We can’t live our life in fear Nesta. and remember you also have a support system in your corner. If you want to have kids than that’s your choice, well yours and Cassian’s. Just make sure that you’re ready to commit to it. To put that child before anything else, because when your baby comes. It’ll be your whole world. only you can determine what mother you’ll be, The past be damned.“
“Thanks Feyre.“
“Don’t mention it.” Feyre smiled as Cassian turned towards them getting up from his spot and heading towards the kitchen until he stopped where they were at.
“I’ve come to relieve you, my high lady.“ Cassian said as Feyre chuckled.
“Thank God you have spared me of the tedious task that is dish washing.” Feyre teased giving him a pat on the shoulder.
“I’ll see you two when you’re finished,“ Feyre told them heading to sit down beside Rhys and Nyx.
“Were you two having fun in here?” Cassian teased grabbing a dish and washing it.
“Aren’t we always?” Nesta smirked grabbing the dish from him and drying it.
“What were you two talking about?” Cassian asked. “It seemed like a pretty intense conversation.“
“It was a sister thing and…there’s something I want to discuss with you when we get home.“ She told him.
“Nothing bad I hope.“
“No. It’s just a conversation that I’ve been wanting to have with you for a while now.“ She confided in him, He nodded, relief filling his features as they worked on the dishes. talking about the party. When things were winding down Feyre pulled Nesta into a hug as Nesta also hugged Nyx,
“Goodbye Aunt Nes.”
“Goodbye buddy, I’ll see you next week when you come spend the night,“
Nyx‘s eyes lit up at the sound of that, the house adored Nyx as it had any other person, Maybe even favored him slightly. Though she didn’t blame the house. it had been a while since a child had been in it.She wondered how the house would feel to have one there permanently.
When Cassian and Nesta went home, She had found her answer in a stack of novels on the house library’s table. Books on motherhood, what to expect when you’re expecting. Nesta felt a warmth in her chest as the house also presented her the herbs for her tea. She hadn’t taken her dosage today.
Footsteps sounded in the door of the library as the books vanished from sight but the tea remained. She had made up her mind. Had known her answer as Cassian approached her.
“What was it you wanted to talk about?” He asked taking a seat beside her noting the tea.
Nesta took a deep breath. “Did you mean it? When you said you wanted kids?”
Casian nodded. “It’s something Ive always wanted. What brought this up?” He asked as Nesta took another breath.
“I was thinking-“ Nesta started. “About the future you’ve talked about for us. How you said you wanted kids?”
“Did you change your mind? Did you not want kids? Is that why you said you wanted to talk?” Cassian asked.
”No, I-I wanted to talk to you because I- I want to try for a baby. I-I want to make a baby with you.”
Cassian eyes snapped to hers, searching her face before he stood up, his calloused and warm hand going to her face.
“You want a baby?” Cassian asked. Nesta nodded. And she did. Gods did she want a baby with her mate. the love of her life.
“Yes.” She whispered to him as he smiled. The smile as bright as the dawn as he lifted trash can up eyes flickering to get tea.
Nesta’s smile curved upwards before she took the tea tossing it in the trash before Cassian‘s lips camd crashing down to hers.
He hoisted her on the desk, her back leaning against it as Cassian pulled away smiling down at her in the most breathtaking gaze she had ever saw and whispered.
“Then by all means mate, let’s get stared.“

On my word, that guided meditation that Nesta went through with Gwyn is amazing, completely based on a real one. 10/10 recommended for everyone.
Plus: what she said about starting with short periods, and working up to longer periods, is totally true.
If you've never tried a meditation, maybe try this one. Simply out of curiosity to see what Nesta was about.
It really is a life-saving tool, whether you've ever gone through anxiety, you're stressed, you want/need to calm down your emotions... this is a really good method. For you. For your family and friends.
Go ahead. Try it. Share it. Remember: mental health is important. Your mental health is important and you can make it your priority.

Okay I just finished the ACOTAR series for the first time and I have so many thoughts so I'm gonna write them down.
Also I have not looked at any fan theories or been a part of this fandom very much so all these headcannons are straight from the noggin:
Literally what the fuck is tamlin doing.
Okay getting this out of the way cause its a hot topic. Azriel is my baby I love him but
I would have mixed feelings about him being with both gwyn and Elaine. I love the idea of Elaine being azriels sunshine he deserves light in his life (also their scene in ACOSF had me ejdjbdksks) but also all three bat boys being with all 3 sisters rubs me the wrong way idk.
Gwyn is amazing because she's a badass bitch and if azriel doesn't snatch that up I will. I feel like azriel almost gets bulldozed over by the other bat boys (like he will do the dirty work only because he feels inferior) And I want gwyn to help him stand up for himself.
Gwyn is an adult jfc. I'd be more worried about her trauma.
I am totally a elucien shipper I'm SORRY lucien deserves the world
But at the same time I would totally understand if Elaine couldn't forgive him for his involvement in the cauldron business. That shit was wack. I just want this relationship to be the biggest, most "period drama esqe" slowburn.
I have very mixed feelings about lucien. On one hand lucien has never had a home and when tamlin took him in I can see how that loyalty blurred the lines of right and wrong. But at the same time lucien messed up MANY times where the archeon sisters are concerned.
Nesta deserved her kick in the ass because it was needed. She did not deserve everyone to be a little bitch to her. It felt like feyre was the only one who wanted her rehabbed for nestas sake. I definitely would have preferred Nesta to hit rock bottom and choose recovery for herself (cause alcoholism and things can only be truly solved through self help) Everyone else was uncharacteristically nonempathetic. Idk how Cassian could be okay with her treatment after they mated.
I'm still digesting Rhys and nestas relationship. I like that they don't like each other for most of ACOSF. Nestas reasons for treating feyre poorly are valid, but not excuses. The feyre, Nesta, and rhys relationship thing is weird cause I see all sides. I need more feyre and Nesta bonding they always get interrupted.
I HATE what SJM did to Mors character. What the fuck is up with mor not liking Nesta. Maybe we will get an explanation in the next book but I feel like mor was set up to be a great LGBT character with himbo allies but SJM just dropped her off a cliff. Big mad.
However I do want eris and mor to end up together. Not necessarily romantically, but I want them to have it out and I want eris to support mor. Kinda want them to be mates. Kinda want eris to be gay as well. Kinda want them to get married and them have consorts.
WHY does everyone treat feyre like a porcelain doll when the IC has more collective trauma than anyone else in this universe. Don't get me wrong I'm all about the hurt/comfort but it was so inconsistently written LOL. When the IC was telling their stories the first night they met and then feyre told hers I cackled like sorry but she is a baby
Rhys's trauma is just as recent as feyres... yeah he's a lot older and seasoned but oh my GOD he was consistently assaulted for 49 years. Feyre does very little to comfort him. Idk I feel like it was SO glossed over.
Like in ACOWAR feyre admits that amaranthas hatred wasn't personal it was general, unlike Tamlins hatred. But amarantha and rhys had multiple personal vendettas against each other. Like his amarantha is vaguely feyres tamlin. Rhys didn't even get to kill amarantha. His trauma is untapped. Rhys is the main character feyre is the love interest idc
Idk what yall say rhys is my baby my lovebug my everything. He's got his flaws but you can't love Nesta and hate him at the same time without being a lil hypocritical
But he's fucked in the head for thinking he was justified in drugging feyre every night for 2 months. Almost more mad about that than the SA (I dont really blame Rhys since it is not cannon to me. SJM just messed up 😌 it was so out of character) did he ever really apologize for that??
ALSO I know smj wanted to write like #consentking but half of what he allowed was so unnecessarily dangerous (like the first AND second weaver encounter- if my SO ran off in the middle of a battle to track down a mysterious creature when the task could have been done after the battle I would have be livid. Mor was justified in being mad.)
I'm so mad rhys didn't flatten tamlin during the high lord meeting. Either it will happen in the future or I will burn these books.
THE BAT BOYS HAVE CONNONICALLY BEEN IN THE SAME ROOM WHILE HAVING SEX. the foursomes in my head gets clearer by the day
I HATE the fact that rhys almost had an existential crisis over feyre being so young when she found her mate and not having "lived" and THEN GETS HER PREGNANT??? Are you kidding me. I'm so mad. I don't wanna deal with babies. I hate babies.
But I DO have a fun headcannon that since the bone carver is a death-god or whatever he KNEW nyx wouldn't survive and that is why he appeared as him. Also when the bone carver offered to take feyres first born in exchange for help rather than the oroboughs I think that was also foreshadowing. The only reason nyx survived was because of Nesta and the bone carver had trouble seeing the cauldron.
((Maybe nyx should have died during the birth idk))
Literally I would have enjoyed ACOSF if instead of the pregnancy feyre was busy looking for bryaxis. Literally what happened to him. Wtf
I know the plot armor is crazy thick around the IC but it would have been nice if one of them died. Well, not nice, but more believable. Maybe thats why nyx should have died. Lol I need therapy.
FREAKING HEADCANNON: the archeon sisters are partially fae. Their mom was definitely a descendant and that's why all three sisters have mates. It was hinted that the sisters had mated because they were powerful and cauldron made but Cassian and rhys could feel the pull before the sisters were turned.
Tarquin is the hottest high lord
The whole blood rite thing was stupid. I would have loved if it was spread out over a longer period of time but it was so unrealistic
You know we all love a good #girlboss🤢 moment but the whole valkarie thing seemed 1. Out of no where 2. Really quickly forced (ACOSF should have been like 2 books) 3. If emerie and mor get together life=complete
The inner circle and ther archeon sisters would not get along if they weren't mated to like 50% of the gang
They're too whiny
It's so weird that the mating bond can only be felt by guys??? Lol wut
Okay I know this is a complicated subject but having LGBTs in a universe with mates based in evolutionary advantage seems more homophobic than having a universe without LGBTs LOL. Like their connection can't be as deep cause they can't procreate?? I did like that SJM made up for it a little by saying not all mates are complementary souls.
Hybern was so powerful and for WHAT. I don't understand
Vassa, lucien, and jurian being a trio is so weird 😐
I WANT A NOVELLA ON THE STORY OF AMREN AND VARIAN. They are my otp. If anyone has made it this far and knows of some good amren and varian fanart pls let me know
Okay that is all for now thank you if you read down to here xoxo gossip girl.
P. S. Also I am starting throne of glass and am having a hard time getting into it. Can anyone vouch for this series please I'm conflicted.
Edit: omg I was zooted when I wrote this and didn't realize my phone autocorrected cassian to Caspian RIP

ACOSF SPOILERS
DO NOT CONTINUE TO READ !!
ALSO KINDA LONG
-
I haven’t posted on tumblr in ages but this is the only place I know to rant.
I feel like there were three storylines mushed into one book here. Nesta, nesta & cassian, and the others.
NESTA - 5/5
Singling out Nestas part includes her growth, her friendships, her training, the stairs and the blood rite.
I LOVED this. I feel like so many people have serious trauma that causes us to change for the worst. we become harsh, we lash out at the people we love, we lash out at ourselves, question our worth, etc.
( did I love to see that the crew voted for this? no but that’s for another section. )
I honestly don’t have much to say besides it was wonderful to see nesta find herself. using the training to hone her mind and body, making amazing bonds with other women of trauma, to form that sisterhood, to finally master the stairs but to use them as a time to understand herself, and to ( unofficially ) complete the blood rite. chefs kiss, I’m so happy for her.
I completely understand what it’s like to be so comfortable in your sorrow ( or anger ) and not want to leave, it’s all you know.
The sleepover scene really tore at my heart I’m the good way, as someone who has three sisters, I loved it. No matter how cheesy it sounds sisterhood is a gift. I’ve found myself at odds with my sisters on so many occasions, wishing I could never see or speak to them again, but it always reverts to the i breakable bond of having a growing partner.
plus gwyn and emerie amazing women love to see it. Great supporting characters.
the blood rite, trope-y but still great to see her flourish.
NESTA + CASSIAN 4/5
Again, very cliche. I still liked it. The sex was filthy which wow i was a bit blown away. I have no qualms reading scenes like that but i felt so sad it had to be just sex in the beginning.
I looooved that he stood by her side. What an amazing man. Yeah I know they said I knew you were my mate etc etc but I mean elain and lucien are mates and so obviously not together so,,,,, point being he stayed not knowing what would happen.
I loved the hike, what a great connection. And a great message, if you need your time take it but I’ll always be here and waiting.
I do have to say I agree with some people that why can’t there ever just be an emotional scene followed by I love you and just yk comfort and etc. I do that with my husband all the time, no sex needed to portray the emotions.
Granted they are new mates but still.
THE OTHERS - 1/5
Am I not the only person who was really taken aback by the crew in this book? What is this voting on people’s life and feysand being wonky as fuck????
I was pleasantly surprised about the pregnancy but I felt like this was not the book for that. I don’t even know how to properly explain it I just am really surprised? I just didn’t like the general tone and vibe of everyone.
Mor? okay girl was barely here and uh is she hiding something? what is eris hinting at? ( dONT come at me if we are supposed to know I only reread the ending of acowar ). Feysand? Um just straight up annoying and rude. their bonus scene pissed me off. and yeah she’s pregnant I don’t give a shit I do not like how they treated everyone in this. Amren? No complaints shes chillin. I would expect her to vote on ppls lives but not everyone else. Elain? girly strong but practically not even in the book. Cassian? king Az? Pretty normal imo.
I feel like this book should’ve focused on Nesta more and she could’ve focused more on the enemy rather then throwing feysands pregnancy problems around. the plot was sloppy and loose.
BONUS - ERIEL
I love azriel, I always have he is one of my favourite characters. I hate people bashing on him, bc listen the fuck up. we do not know ANYTHING that has gone on between elain and him in an entire YEAR. for people to come for his life bc he’s having fantasies, how is it any different then cassian? he’s an illyrian male like??? oh because they aren’t mates? yeah well for 3/4th of the book it wasn’t confirmed nes and cas were mates either and everyone still rooted for them meanwhile their mates could’ve been somewhere else. mates does not always mean romantic, rejecting the bond exists for a reason. give elain a break, she finds no comfort in lucien. period. dont act like if luciens girl hadn’t been killed he wouldnt be cozied up with her rn bc he already found love. And would’ve accepted the platonic bond. I didn’t bother to read the part where he’s “ flirting” with gwyn. like bro got yelled at for trying to pursue someone he loves and someone who loves him back you assholes. he’s a man, they aren’t perfect, not even rhys or cas. he doesn’t even know gwyn and for yall to be like omg his shadows come alive blah blah, brUh he doesn’t even know her. If he chooses to persue that so be it but imo it’s squat compared to his relationship/friendship with elain. and I think you’re all taking the three sisters statement wrong, hes not saying he’s entitled bro he’s just saying like does it not make sense seeing as they are in love/attracted to each other.
CONCLUSION
Loved the Nesta story line, liked the nesta cassian story line, did not like anything else.

PSYRRY BUT I’M DELETING YOU FROM MY GANGNAM! (clicks delete!) LOADING… ▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓ 99%… OPPA! It is impossible to delete our friendship. You mean so much to me. Post this to 1O walls who you never want to lose. If you get 3 back, you’re an amazing style.
The Witch of Izalith is a mentioned character in Dark Souls.DescriptionSimilar to the Furtive Pygmy, she is only seen once in the game, in the opening cutscene that shows her claiming her soul. In this scene, she appears to be a towering being with blue lips and ashen skin, hands burnt from extracting her soul from the First Flame. She wears a much more refined version of the clothes her children wear, and is visibly taller than both her children and the catalysts they used, likely being able to draw upon her soul without such a tool.LoreThe Witch of Izalith was one of the Lords, the four beings who discovered the manifestations of disparity near the First Flame. At some point after this, she became the mother of "The Witches of Chaos," who were thought to be her biological children. Giving pieces of her soul to her children, they joined in the war against the Dragons, and used their power to weave great firestorms to defeat theAfter this was over, she and her children are thought to have settled in their home city of Izalith, but whether or not she actually ruled the city is difficult to discern. In response to the fading of the First Flame, she attempted to use her Lord Soul to generate a new one. To this end, she generated a new flame in Izalith, known as the Flame of Chaos. Though she was initially able to manage the flame, her attempt to create an established component of the world - when it already existed - did not succeed, and the flame began to become unstable. Tangled by the hands of witches, none were able to calm the flame, and the Witch of Izalith was killed when it grew too fierce. Using her soul to fuel itself, it spread throughout Izalith, killing many of the citizens. It consumed her body, molding it into a seedbed, and from it the Chaos Flame manifested as the twisted being known as the Bed of Chaos. From the Bed of Chaos, the flame used the Lord Soul to forge a parody of life itself, and birthed flaming creatures that would become known as Demons. Many who were taken by the Chaos Flame were transformed into demons of a similar but varied nature, and most of her children were taken as well. Her only son became a sorrowful, pustulating creature of Chaos flame, while two of her daughters managed to partially escape: Quelaag and Quelaag's Sister. Their lower bodies morphed into demonic spiders, but from the waist up they were spared, and Quelana managed to escape completely. The knights of Gwyn would battle the demons of Izalith, but were unsuccessful in defeating them, and instead took measures to prevent the majority of them from leaving the city. Many who had retained sanity after their corruption, such as the remaining Daughters of Chaos, are thought to have also consented to their imprisonment. After a certain period, Quelana encountered a human named Salaman, who was able to perceive her form despite her nature. In virtue of this, she removed his natural human fear of flame, and taught him a method by which he could hope to control the uncontrollable power of fire. The teaching was successful and her pupils became the first pyromancer, and Quelana became the mother of Pyromancy. The pyromancies that were learned by Salaman manipulated lava, as they were learned from a Daughter of Chaos, but he would instead teach his students other methods of flame manipulation. His most accomplished pupil was Carmina, who was among the first to take pyromancy into fields that had almost absolutely nothing to do with flame, but rather life. Now most pyromancers, those that can manipulate both life and heat, reside within the Great Swamp and revere the Witch of Izalith and her children as their gods.Despite the bed's eventual destruction, the Chaos Flame itself is said to have coalesced under the kingdom of Eleum Loyce, where it burned despite the efforts of the inhabitants. Eventually the Ivory King himself would descend into the flames, but he was corrupted as well.
In present time, both the bed and the flame have gone out, and the demons are now endangered due to their race no longer being generated. While some demons wandered the lands, with some communicating with the other races and working alongside them, such as the gatekeeper of Lothric, their own Chaos essence is burning fast. Many live to this day in a secret city of demons, found amidst Izalith's decrepit structures, most of its citizens being demons and corrupted Izalith citizens. The current ruler of the demon city sits alone amidst fallen combatants, with his flames dying out, the last of the original citizens of Izalith to have remembered the birth of Chaos, and the death of the Godmother of Pyromancy.Known childrenChaos Witch QuelaagQuelaag's SisterQuelana of IzalithCeaseless DischargeDaughter of ChaosThe body with the Gold-Hemmed Black Set Ceaseless Discharge is protecting. The left and right roots of the Bed of Chaos.TriviaIt is heavily implied that the Lost Sinner from Dark Souls II holds some relation to the Witch of Izalith, not only possessing a Chaos Bug from Lost Izalith in Dark Souls but also dropping an Old Witch Soul in NG+ (which can also be traded for a Chaos Blade), as well as having Pyromancers assist her in battle. Additionally, equipping the Penal Handcuffs enhances pyromancy.Several parts of the dialogue with Quelana have her make mention of how most humans are unable to perceive her, and it becomes implied that they absolutely cannot if she actively does not want them to.Both of the Witch's named children have names beginning with the prefix "Que-", hinting that her own name may have such a spelling, although that name is still unknown. The mentioned goddess Quella bears a similar name, but there is no other apparent connection between her and Izalith. It should be known that she did, in fact, succeed in creating another Flame despite its malfunction. Not only does it generate life, it also has its own fire-linking quality, in which a powerful demon is named the Demon Prince and rekindles it.

A Court of Silver Flames rant because I'm still mad (not at the book)
This is my favorite Sarah J. Maas book ever. Period.
Rhysand really pissed me off in this book, along with everyone else.
Nesta just wanted to get drunk and listen to music and everyone is like 'you're throwing your life away' 'you're embarrassing' 'we love you so we're making you do something you don't want to do' BITCH SHE CAN"T THROW HER LIFE AWAY SHE IS LITERALLY IMMORTAL!!!!!!! yes everyone in this book dealt with shit throughout the years but most of them have had 500 years to deal with it. Elain is such a bitch to Nesta in this book and everyone treats her like a monster. I think my favorite part is when her and Cassian are hiking and she admits that she thinks she's worthless and that she wants to die because she truly believes she doesn't deserve to live and it's because
1. she feels guilty about not being able to save her dad but
2. BECAUSE EVERYONE FUCKING MAKES HER FEEL LIKE GARBAGE!!!!
In the beginning when she walks into the river house, you can see how upset she is by the fact that there are no pictures of her and no one invites her to things anymore. She doesn't want to go but she wants to be invited because she wants someone to care about her even if she thinks she doesn't deserve it. Amren was the only person who kind of understood her but when Nesta said she didn't want to practice with her magic again, Amren dropped her and started insulting her every time they saw each other. AT THE BEGINNING OF THE BOOK IDK WHY EVERYONE FELT THE NEED TO TELL HER SHE LOOKED LIKE SKIN AND BONES AND INSULT HOW SHE LOOKS LIKE WTF!!!! She tells her she has no friends (she doesn't know about gwyn and emerie) and she believes she is a terrible person EVEN THOUGH SHE IS HELPING ASSAULT SURVIVORS DEAL WITH THEIR TRAUMA!!!!!!!! NESTA IS A LITERAL DEATH GODDESS AND GIVES UP HER POWERS TO SAVE THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE TREATED HER LIKE ABSOLUTE SHIT FOR 5 BOOKS!!!!!! AND NOT ONE DOES ANYONE APOLOGIZE TO HER BUT INSTEAD THEY EXPECT HER TO GROVEL AND PLEAD FOR FORGIVENESS FOR LITERALLY BEING DEPRESSED AND HAVING PTSD!!!!!! i can't.
I’m mad that when Nesta finally does something amazing it’s literally overshadowed by Feyre giving birth. This is supposed to be Nesta's book I am TIRED of the disrespect. I don’t give a single FUCK if Rhys is high lord, he is fucking disrespectful to Nesta and that is a no-no.
that being said, this was my fav SJM book just because it was about Nesta and I love her. I realized that the reason I love Rhys so much in the other books was because we saw him objectively. We saw him from Feyre's pov. In this book we finally see what he is like in other's pov's. Anyways, stan Nesta. Toodles.
