hi hi!! could i get an iced caramel cold brew with kuroo?? <33 :)
"babe," kuroo starts, his voice drowned out by the hiss of the steam wand. "will you leave me if i can't give you a house in five years?"
you frown. "no, i won't. why?"
"okay, then, will you leave me if i can't give you a house and a car in five years?"
"no, of course i won't leave you." confused, you turn to peer over at your boyfriend—who's tapping his foot along to the jazzy playlist blasting from the coffeeshop's speakers. "what's this about, tetsu?"
"hmmm. say, what about ten years?" he ignores you. "is that too long of a wait time? we'll be in our thirties by then, and—"
"tetsurou. i'm not going to leave you if you can't give me a house or a car or, or an automated laundry drying rack or whatever. why do you keep asking?" you put down your cake knife, wipe your hands on your apron, and stalk over to the bar to see your boyfriend swirling through his latte art with a long metal toothpick, effectively destroying the milk foam heart. "hey, why are you— that latte art looked fine."
"nah, i messed up. it looked more like an onion than a heart."
"huh. then what's this about me leaving you?"
"because i did the calculations in my head last night, and if i work here," kuroo gestures to the empty coffeeshop before you, tables wiped and floor mopped and lights dimmed, "till i graduate, and then get my first job and give money to my dad and start paying off my student loans, this and that... well, i'm just saying that it's going to take a while before we can settle down in a place of our own."
you watch as his toothpick swirls round and round his coffee, the heart (or the onion, according to him) now a homogenous off-white blob.
"and how accurate are those calculations?" you grab a cup off the drying rack and start polishing next to him.
"fairly accurate, i think? i can do up an excel sheet if you want."
you bite back a grin at how earnest he sounds. “tetsu, my love. even if you do up your calculations on excel, run it through an expert, or use the world’s most powerful computer, you’ll still be wrong.”
“...why?”
“because you forgot to factor in me.”
clink! kuroo drops his toothpick back into its holder.
“if we’re going to get married, and buy a house, and a car, and an automated laundry drying rack, we’re going to do it together. there’s no way i’m making you shoulder all that financial burden alone.”
“but i want to provide for you. it’s my job, y’know?” he says, voice quiet. “if possible, i’d send you home right now and just close up on my own. you should be in bed with a face mask on, not polishing cups.”
“no way, tetsu. we’re going to close together, and do life together,” you put down your cup and grab his wrist, his wrist bone hard under your thumb. “first jobs, marriage, getting an apartment, kids. i want it all to be a you and me thing, not a you and you thing.”
you pull him closer to you, staring hard at his handsome side profile. even with the exhaustion of the past day painted on his features—dark undereyes, nose shiny, and his hair sticking up in the back, you still find it hard to resist the urge to hold and kiss him.
“i want to kiss you,” he blurts out, as if he read your mind. he pulls his wrist from your hand, reaching for your waist—but you stop him with a hand on his chest, suddenly overcome with shyness.
“you can’t, we’re working.”
“but we closed half an hour ago!”
“there are still cameras around, silly.” but you let kuroo pull you close and excuse the hand he’s settled on your hip in favour of looking at the latte he was messing with.
the big milk foam blob was accompanied by two similar, smaller blobs on its left and right.
“it’s a bear,” your lover says proudly. “for you.”
“it’s cute.”
“i love you.”
you hum, leaning into his warmth. “i love you too.”
student loans, housing, your shift tomorrow—those can wait.
for now, it’s just you and kuroo and his failed latte art, surrounded by the scent of sweet coffee and cake. and it’s more than enough.
it’s all you ever wanted.

a fluffy coffee shop au w barista!kuroo please :)
Tumblr media
Since you discovered the small coffee shop at the end of your street you were not only smitten by the raven haired barista, but also taken aback by the cozy atmosphere. It was exactly what you needed after a long day of work, some gentle lofi beats mixed with the scent of oakwood and coffee. A pure bliss to your senses and so calming to your nerves that soon enough you became one of Kuroos most frequent costumers.
"You spend an unhealthy amout of money on my coffee", the man once said, to which you simply replied with "It's the only thing that keeps me sane", and a shy smile on your face.
The barista always had this boyish smirk on his face, even on this one friday evening when there was a storm outside and you came in soaked.
He was suprised seeing you in his shop. Kuroo was about to close, figuring that no one would come by because of the awful weather, but there you were, jacket sticking to your arms and a expression on your face that said "What a day."
"Don't say anything", he chuckled, with his signature smirk on his face as he began to prepare your favorite coffee while eventually taking a sip of his own.
Most of the chairs were already put on the tables, you didn't even notice when you first entered. Kuroo watched you looking around and as you opened your mouth to offerhe shook his head "You wanna join me for dinner? My flat's above the shop."
This time there was a timid glint in his eyes while the tip of his ears turned into a deep red. You couldn't help but smile, a fuzzy feeling inside of you warming you up despite being so terribly cold from the rain outside.
"I'd love that."

💖 second couple syndrome! one shot event;
Tumblr media
˗ˏˋ second couple syndrome ´ˎ˗ when you find yourself rooting for/being more invested in the secondary couple as opposed to the main pairing
˗ˏˋ about this event ´ˎ˗ just like how secondary couples don't get much screen time to develop their story, this event is accepting requests only for characters that are underloved, underappreciated, and/or undervalued. whether it's because they're forgotten by the fandom in general, the fandom itself is underrated, or their canon screen time totals up to six minutes and five lines of dialogue, it doesn't matter. this event is their shot at being the main character and getting the happy ending for once!
Tumblr media
˗ˏˋ more about this event ´ˎ˗ going with the secondary couple theme & playing on the fact that this is for the more "forgotten" characters, the prompt requests are going to be based on pairings that would most likely be the usual secondary couple's trope!
˗ˏˋ rules ´ˎ˗ -> this is for underrated characters only. while there's no hard min/max, if i look up your requested little guy and he has more than 4 pages worth of fics on ao3 or his tumblr x reader tag is very much still active, i don't want to see that request!! for ex: don't ask for oikawa or gojo. be so for real with me rn -> please specify whether you want nsfw or sfw. -> the prompts to pick from aren't hardcoded, meaning it doesn't have to be that specific au!! if you want, i can tailor it to canon, or if you kinda get the gist of what i was getting at, you can follow that pattern & create your own 'second couple pairing trope' <;3 -> fandoms i write for: haikyuu, bnha, blue lock, cod, jujutsu kaisen, aot, genshin impact, honkai star rail
˗ˏˋ prompts to pick from ´ˎ˗ -> instead of the ceo x secretary, it's the ceo's right hand man x the secretary's bestie -> instead of the troubled pop star x heart of gold bf, it's the pop star's stressed out manager x pop star's equally stressed out publicist -> instead of the high ranking employee x lower ranked employee, it's the two interns who are both competing for the one full-time offer -> instead of the good girl x mysterious bad boy, it's the good girl's boy best friend (who's been hopelessly in love with her for a while) x the new girl in town who's her complete opposite -> instead of the college tutor x the athlete, it's the athlete's coach x the athlete's professor whose class they're failing -> instead of the dilf x babysitter, it's the newly divorced woman x her new hot neighbor that's always willing to lend a hand -> instead of the down on her luck stripper x rich ceo (who just happens to be at a strip club??), it's the sarcastic nightclub bouncer x babyfaced reader whose real ID he just broke -> instead of the barista x her future sugar daddy, it's the owner of the cafe x the owner of the cafe's biggest competitor -> instead of the lawyer x down on their luck client, it's the police officer x the district attorney -> instead of the mortal x the god, it's the two immortal gods who've had a bone to pick with each other for eons -> instead of the journalist x the celeb, it's the up and coming podcaster/social media star x their number one hater -> instead of the normal girl x the ceo getting into a marriage of convenience, it's the ceo's shopaholic sister x the normal girl's brother who happens to be the deliveryman -> instead of the hot, rich older man x the poor naive girl, it's the hot, rich older man x the spoiled heiress who's not so easy to impress or get -> instead of the maneater x womanizer, it's the happy go lucky lover girl x cute lovable idiot with zero game & has never had a girlfriend ever -> instead of the soldier x the civilian, it's the mercenary-for-hire x spy on the run -> instead of the knight x the princess, it's the king's royal advisor x the princess's lady-in-waiting

Haikyuu as type of boyfriend in a family reunion.
A/N: FINALLY FINISHED WITH THIS!!! WHY DOES IT TAKE ME SO LONG TO DO THIS IN THE BEGINNING ANYWAY???
Tumblr media
He is a joy to be around! He had no problems going up to your relatives and say hi, even gossiping with your aunts a little, and the children, THEY LOVE HIM. Like every child in the party (even the shy ones) all wants to play with him and he participated in any activities that your little cousins made. But that doesn’t mean that he’s neglecting you, no no, every now and then, he would look at your direction and gave you a thumbs up as a sign of he’s doing fine and you don’t need to worry about him, sometimes even asking if you want to participate in the fun! And how could you be worried about him when all he does is light up the reunion and making everyone smile. Your grandparents even ask him to marry you so he could come over more, the two of you flushed in embarrassment from that comment.

It's like you get to see a completely different person when your stoic boyfriend who is usually reluctant to even hold your hand in public because he’s shy suddenly starts being really, really clingy in the morning. Like you would try to get out of bed and he would simply refuse to let you go. And how can you refuse him when his strong arms encircle your waist, drawing you closer to him, begging in a raspy voice for just five more minutes?

Haikyuu boys when you referred to yourself with his last name
A/N: Married Hq boys headcanons bc yes. Also this is gender neutral reader.
Tumblr media
Fucking dies both on the outside and inside, but can you blame him, he just still can’t believe you married him, so when he hears you said his last name with your first name so naturally when a barista asked for your name so she could identify you from other customers, he just melts. It’s only been a week since you got married but from how natural you’ve become, he’s like “ahhhhhh they married meeee”, his face is red while his heart races miles per hour and he becomes all mushy and cuddly when you’re alone.
- Hinata, Kageyama, TANAKA, Asahi, iwaizumi (he tries to hide his flustered state but failed-), YAMAMOTO, Lev, Bokuto, Atsumu.
On the outside he seems normal, after all, you guys are married for 2 years now. But every now and then when you introduce yourself to new people using his last name, even referring to him as your husband, his heart swells as the tip of his ears turn pink when looked close enough. He knows it’s kind of stupid to feel this way when you guys are married, but he just can’t help it, he’s just so proud to call you his.

He didn’t even notice these girls where looking at him when he only has eyes for you.

(𝟕:𝟑𝟐 𝐀𝐌) iwaizumi hates coffee. no matter what blend or flavor, he just can’t get the hold of actually liking it. it was so dull in his taste, too much of a hit or miss. sometimes he’d get it too sweet and other times he’d get it too bitter, it was a horrible experience, so he’d rather just not drink it at all.
he’s known this for such a long time now, but ever since oikawa dragged him to that café near campus, he’s grown a terrible habit of waking up early just to jog all the way there to order himself a cup of coffee he knows he won’t enjoy.
he does this, and he’s quite unsure why.
“iwaizumi!” your voice greets him, the bell dangling from the door ringing the moment he enters the café, and a smile immediately adorns his face the second he hears you.
ah, that’s why.
you scribble down on your notepad, “the usual?”
the usual— something he’s forcing himself to grow accustomed to even if it was too bitter for his liking. the usual because it’d been the first (and only thing) he could order when oikawa first brought him there and he was too nervous to actually talk to you.
“i don’t know how you could drink this,” you tell him, voice chipper as you hand him the drink. you looked relaxed, probably because it was still so early and you wouldn’t have to indulge in any more customers ‘til a little while later.
he grins, “neither do i.”
you laugh— he smiles. he made you laugh.
your voice stays with him for the rest of the day, and he wishes he ordered a more complicated drink just so he could stay in your vicinity for a little while longer. he thanks you for your service, and you tell him to have a nice day.
he glances down at the coffee he has in his hand and he stifles a groan as he rolls his eyes, he could always just throw it away, but then again you did put in the effort to make it, so he’d rather not waste any of that.
this unhealthy habit of his to suffer through pints and pints of caffeine just to see you has to stop, and he knows that the only way that’ll happen is when he finally gets the courage to actually ask you out.
guess he’ll just have to find a better tasting usual then.

✧ CAFÉ AU NAME ✧
pairing: barista!akaashi x f!reader
word count: 2,418
synopsis: you walk into akaashi’s back-alley coffee shop every thursday evening with a new book, a new order, and a new name.
Tumblr media
The feathers of the duster glided over the counter, brushing off any loose beans onto the linoleum on the bar. Conscious of the time, Akaashi let his eyes wander over to the door expectantly. It was still an hour till closing time, but that’s not exactly what he was looking forward to.
For the last two months or so, every Thursday evening, roughly an hour before close; in walked you.
From the second you walked through the door, he was entranced by you, and his infatuation only deepened the more you visited his hidden little cafe.
Akaashi had never been one to have friends, besides ones he met through his old volleyball team, and there was definitely no girlfriend anywhere in the picture, so he didn't really know where to start when just one look at you made his heart tumble out of his chest.
And, becuase of course, there was another dilema on his mind; despite asking for your name every time he made your drink, he didnt actually know your real name yet. Every time you came in you had ordered something wildly different, along with a brand new name. The poor boy thought he was going insane.
The first time he had met you, it had been a sunny evening, and as usual, the shop was pretty much empty - only two customers and himself occupying the café. He was practically begging for something to do before the bell on the door chimed, signalling another entry.
For the first time in his life, Akaashi had to physically pause in shock as he laid eyes on you. He quickly caught himself out and slipped right back into his role, but the fact that you had caught his attention enough to distract him like that was baffling to him.
"Good evening. What can I get started for you?" His eyes followed you as you approached the counter gracefully, smiling at him before squinting up at the menu.
"Ah... hazelnut mocha? Yeah, regular size, please." Akaashi resisted the urge to chuckle at your indecisiveness.
"And a name for that?" You rained an eyebrow slightly, eyes darting around the shop, noting how empty it was. Akaashi has realised his mistake, but it was both a mistake of habit and just a petty excuse to learn your name.
"Elizabeth." Once again, Akaashi was rendered speechless. It seemed his surprise didn't go unnoticed either as you attempted to hide your giggle behind the book he hasn't realised you were holding. he tried to catch the title, but didn't get the chance as you had composed yourself before he could even blink.
He cleared his throat and moved to the till, where he quickly tapped your order into the machine. He tried desperately not to blush when your hands brushed as you handed him the money for your drink, and decided to focus on making your drink instead of studying your face.
However, because of this, he completely missed the way your eyes followed him as he danced across the bar, first for the syrup, then for the chocolate. It was as if you would miss the entire show if you took your eyes off of him. He moved so fluently it was if the process was ingrained into his body. You continued to watch as he allowed the chocolate to steam unsupervised while he prepared the espresso, savouring the scent of the coffee as he pulled the shots.
You noticed a slight change in the sound to the steam, as did he, and without even looking he turned the lever to stop it, while also pouring the the espresso into the mug and swirling it together. The pouring felt like some sort of performance, with the way he held the jug so lightly, gently and precisely guiding the chocolate into the mug, wiggling it to make a gorgeous pattern on top.
He placed the drink on a saucer, pairing it with a spoon and a little biscuit that he had pulled from seemingly nowhere. You smiled gratefully as he pushed it over to you, barely able to meet your eyes.
“If you want a quiet place to read, the corner over there with the ferns is probably your best bet,” He nodded over to a little nook across the shop and you could see what he meant, it was secluded, and all other tables were faced away from it, but you could still see out over the entire store, especially with it being so small.
“They’re fake... in case, you know... allergies?’ Giggling, you tucked your book under your arm in order to use both hands to carry the drink over to the table. A you did, Akaashi finally got a good look at the spine.
‘Pride and Prejudice’
Elizabeth, of course.
“I’ll be here if you need anything.” With one last nod in thanks, you left the counter, allowing the barista to breathe again without the fear or stuttering or stumbling over his words.
The second time he met you it has already turned cold, and frost was beginning to creep its way up the café windows. Luckily, it was nice and toasty inside the shop, and with an unlimited supply of hot drinks at his fingertips, it couldn’t be any better.
Except, it could.
Akaashi was actually meant to be training up a new barista today, and yet he was distracted, thinking about a certain customer that he hasn't seen in a full week now. Who did he think he was? Falling in love at first sight only to possibly never see you again? It was just his luck.
The owner was drawn out of his thoughts as he heard a hiss of pain, immediately looking over to see said new barista with a hand now covered in scalding hot coffee. He sighed, but quickly grabbed the cloth he kept in his apron pocket. Wiping the trainee’s hand, he instructed them to run it under cold water for as long as possible to make sure it didn't blister.
As they walked away, Akaashi faintly heard the door chime, and ran a hand through his hair in order to calm himself before speaking to a customer.
“Hi, what can I- oh...” You stood across the counter, warm eyes peeking out from where your neck and mouth were buried in the biggest, fluffiest scarf Akaashi thought he’d ever seen. He heard a small chuckle and you reached up to unravel yourself from the bundle of fabric.
“Stressed?” Your voice was soft when you finally freed yourself. Akaashi could only give you a nod and a small smile in response, aware of his trainee’s return to the machine. A quick once-over told him that they were fine and he could continue with their training.
“What can I get you today?” It only took one look between the two baristas to understand the situation, and you immediately took pity on the owner, deciding to order something simple to be nice.
“Just a latte, thank you.” The more experienced barista smiled at you gratefully, and put the transaction through the till before taking your money.
“And a name for that?” He suggested playfully, mostly in reference to his mistake the last time the two of you met.
“Emma.” He almost laughed, eyeing the new book you were holding. A fan of Jane Austen then. Akaashi opened his mouth to say something else when he was interrupted by the unmistakable sound of breaking glass behind him. It was a good thing he turned away in a panic the second he heard it, or else he would have seen you jump out of your skin in surprise.
The whole café seemed to become even quiter than it already was for a few moments, only Akaashi’s soothing murmer present in the silence. He once again made sure that the trainee was alright before instructing them to step away so that he could clean up the mess. He disappeared for a moment before returning with a sweeping brush. With a smile, albeit a nervous one, he told you to sit down to wait rather than remaining at the counter.
“Get comfy, it may be a minute.”
The third time you returned to his little café, Akaashi was too busy already serving a customer to greet you immediately. He was so distracted that he hadn't even heard the chime of the bell on the door, which was unusual. What did attract his attention to you however, was the odd sniffle every minute or so to his left. He slipped his gaze over you in time to see you desperately trying to hold back a sneeze, nose scrunched in the cutest way possible, sleeve ready to catch it.
With a quiet chuckle he quickly finished up with his current customer, handing the order over to his trainee, who had surprisingly improved by miles in the past week, and was now able to handle the standard drinks to an acceptable degree.
As the customer moved on, he watched you with an amused smile as you practically waddled up to the counter, no scarf today, but instead a chunky sweater that more of less buried you, barely visible fingers clutching your book choice for this week - Sense and Sensibility.
He raised an eyebrow expectantly and you rolled your eyes. Despite the scarf the previous visit, you had managed to catch a cold last week from the freezing wind you walked through to get to the café, and you still hadn't fully recovered yet.
“Afternoon, Elinor.” Your eyes widened as he guessed you name for this week before you even had chance to order, but it brought an excited smile to your face.
“Something strong... uh, a... ugh!” He snickered at your frustration and you scowled, a crease in your brow, but he couldn't take you seriously with the bright pink flush across your cheeks the cold had given you.
“A cappuccino!” You announced triumphantly, but quickly calmed yourself in slight embarrassment as you realised you might have been just a tad too loud. Akaashi was clearly enjoying your playfulness today, but made no comment, thankfully.
“Chocolate dusting?” You perked up again at that, but remained sheepish.
“Extra, please?” He put your order through the till as he always did, and you stalked off to find your usual seat as he handed it off to the trainee.
The fourth time you stopped by, the cold spell has finally disappeared, and the glow of the evening light shining through the windows was slightly warmer than it had been recently.
Despite this, the sight of the improved weather was immediately dampened when you walked in, such a tired expression on your face that Akaashi physically stopped in his track out of worry. You always had such a happy smile that seeing you without it seemed so strange.
At the look on his face, you tried your hardest to smile like you usually did, but you could both that it was horribly forced, and you gave up quickly.
“Choose for me today, ‘kaashi.” He didn't know what surprised him more - the nickname or the fact that you knew his name in the first place. Obviously it was on his name tag that you saw every time you were in the shop, but he hadn't expected you to actually remember it.
He couldn't help the strange feeling in his stomach, both in worry and... something else that he couldn't quite place the feeling of.
“This one’s on me. Jane today?” Even with your mood, you were never without your precious book. A quick look at the cover told him that it was Jane Eyre today, his favourite.
You opened your mouth to protest, but one stern look from Akaashi shut you right up. You gave him a thankful smile, a genuine one, and slowly walked off to take your usual spot.
Akaashi waited until you had your back turned to quickly switch places with his other barista in order to personally make your drink today. The other barista was shocked at his hurry, but shook their head with a smile at the action. They had witnessed enough interactions between the two of you to understand.
The next week, Akaashi waited all day and all evening, so worried about last week and how you left without a word that he couldn't even focus on his work because he just needed to see you to make sure you were okay.
But you never came.
He was upset, but you were probably busy, or something had happened, but the though of an incident of some sort only put him even more on edge than he already was.
With a sigh, he exited the shop, adjusting the bag on his shoulder so that he could place the key in the door to lock it. He was about to turn the metal when he heard frantic footsteps behind him. Akaashi glanced back to see you, rushing as quickly as you could, jacket billowing behind you as you made it towards him.
You came to a stop just next to him, hands on your knees as you attempted to catch your breath as Akaashi stared down at you in bewilderment. As you finally stood straight, you smiled heavily, breaths still laboured.
“Work meeting ran over,” you tried to explain, “you aren't closed yet, are you?” You could clearly see him with the key in the door, but he could hear the evident disappointment in your voice.
“Depends.” Hope flooded your features and the absolute joy on your face would have made him give in if he hadn't already.
“On?” Even if he didn't know it, you could see plain as day how dejected he looked today, and you had an inkling that it was to do with your lack of appearance.
“Tell me your name.” The was a slight pause, before you giggled at the simple condition, causing Akaashi to turn his head away as to hide from you how contagious your smile really was.
“Y/N.” You held your hand out, having never been happier to introduce yourself to someone.
“Keiji, nice to meet you.” He took your hand in his and shook it, lingering for a moment before letting to go to take the key out of the door and open it, gesturing you inside with a smile.
You brought books to places with you to loose yourself in someone else’s fantasy, but maybe you had found your real-life fairytale.

twenty shots of espresso | a barista!kageyama x gn!reader fanfic
Tumblr media
pairing: barista!kageyama x gn!reader
word count: 3.8k words
contains: coffeeshop au kinda fluff, shy kageyama, y/n ordering weird drinks, university au, akaashi keiji as a store manager
summary: on kageyama’s first day as a barista, he encounters you, a very tired student, who ends up ordering twenty shots of espresso. he doesn’t know what to do except deliver
a/n: i wanted to write some fluff and i was inspired by that tumblr post about starbucks baristas encountering customers with really bizarre orders. also i love shy and confused kageyama UwU
“and that’s pretty much all you need to know,” akaashi, the current manager of the on-campus, student-run cafe ‘beanies,’ and kageyama’s new boss, said after wiping his hands on a paper towel.
“always keep an eye on the register. refill the coffee beans regularly. if you think that there’s enough ice, there’s probably not enough ice,” kageyama recited the most poignant pieces of information akaashi gave him.
“good, you’re all set,” akaashi gave a small smile of encouragement. “sorry to leave you alone on your first day but unfortunately, my groupmates need some kind of adult supervision for them to actually do something,” he rolled his eyes as he removed his apron and cap before hanging them neatly in the employees only room.
“it’s fine,” kageyama shrugged one shoulder. he was pretty confident in his ability to remember things and follow instructions and (hopefully) not panic, though, not as confident when it came to having to ‘greet the customers warmly’. ‘i hope that doesn’t matter too much. especially when it comes to getting tips,’ he thought as akaashi returned with his backpack.
“well, i’m off. if anyone asks for a manager just say you’re the manager,” he said, waving once before leaving the cafe.
luckily for kageyama, his first ever shift was during that two-hour downtime in the late morning when everyone was still either in class or actually going someplace to eat. the few customers who came in just ordered iced americanos or a slice of cake. ‘i could actually get used to this,’ kageyama thought as he washed the knife he used to slice cake.
but of course, that’s exactly when things tend to go awry.
“welcome to beanies. may i have your order?” kageyama asked, looking down at the cash register machine, partly because he still didn’t know how to interact with customers and partly because he just wanted to type up their order quickly.
“twenty shots of espresso.”
“alright. twenty sh-- what?” kageyama looked up in surprise as the order actually registered in his brain. he expected that the customer ordering what was probably satan’s regular starbucks order would look like a denizen of hell. or maybe, someone with a smirk on their face and probably a phone held up for some tiktok trend that kageyama didn’t know about but probably involved pranking baristas. instead, he was faced with what appeared to be a very tired, very haggard looking student. your hair was a mess and sticking up in all sorts of angles that kageyama didn’t even know hair could do, as if you had just rolled out of bed and jumped straight into a roller-coaster. in addition, he was ninety-percent sure that you were wearing a hoodie over your pajamas.
whatever it was, kageyama was very unprepared for this. nothing in the employee manual or akaashi’s short training session included having to deal with customers who ordered twenty shots of espresso. kageyama was just going to have to wing this.
“ma’am/sir, twenty shots of espresso would be extremely expensive.”
“i’ve been locked in my room for three days eating nothing but microwaved chicken nuggets,” you rasped. “i happen to have enough money for it. that should all fit in the regular-sized cup, right?”
“mathematically, yes,” kageyama slowly. “but i highly don’t recommend it. the taste would just be...”
“awful. i am aware,” you nodded. kageyama struggled with trying to remain calm or unshaken by this customer who was more than likely not human. although, the expression on your face suggested that you were unshaken.
“the... health concerns. and twenty shots of espresso are going to take ages to make,” he said, trying to make one final attempt at dissuading you.
“i’ve got time,” you smiled. “and if another customer comes in, feel free to make their drink first.”
“but… but… alright.”
kageyama had no other excuses to give. resigned, he picked up a regular cup and wrote twenty shots on the side before stating how much your drink would cost. you paid for it all in full and waited patiently by the side of the counter as kageyama prepared your drink. the hardest part about the drink was the terribly long waiting time while the cup was filling up with the super-concentrated coffee that was meant to be consumed one or two shots at a time. during those waiting times, kageyama tried to work out exactly how deadly twenty shots of espresso was.
‘the last time i drank two espresso shots i accidentally served a ball into the ceiling, yelled at a vending machine, yelled at a lamp post for being ‘too bright’ and crashed two hours later by sleeping on a bench. in what world would they need that much caffeine?’ his thoughts raced.
finally, he had a pretty full cup of twenty espresso shots. with careful hands, he handed the cup to you and you smiled gratefully when you accepted it.
“um, enjoy?” he said, phrasing it as more of a question.
“oh, thank god,” you sighed with relief as you accepted the cup from him, like a mother holding their newly-born child.
“wouldn’t you like some milk or sugar added to that?” kageyama nervously asked. just smelling the twenty espresso shots made his heart palpitate and his taste buds sweat. “maybe some steamed milk? it’s on the house,” he added, hoping that it would sway you.
you chuckled and went over to the add-ons table. kageyama prayed you would add something like a few packs of sugar at least. instead, you added three packets of cinnamon into your monstrosity of an espresso drink. he watched with undisguised horror on his face as you brought the cup to your mouth and took a long drink from it.
“ahhh, that hits multiple spots,” you sighed, licking your lips. “oh, almost forgot,” you scurried back to the counter with your cup. kageyama didn’t even know what to expect from you at this point but blinked in surprise when he saw you slip a few bills into the tip box. “thanks for the coffee,” you smiled, as if you hadn’t just downed your recommended daily caffeine intake in one go, and left the cafe.
a few hours later, akaashi returned to a very shaken kageyama. “why? did something happen?” he asked, surprised that the new employee he hired specifically for his unflappable nature looked, for the better word, very much ‘flapped’.
“someone... someone just ordered twenty shots of espresso,” he muttered.
akaashi felt himself gasp. and he never gasped. he knew it was a mistake to leave kageyama alone. “so... what did you do?”
“i... gave them twenty espresso shots,” he said. akaashi swallowed.
“did they at least leave a tip?”
...
kageyama spent ages thinking about you, mostly in the concerned sense. during all of his shifts, he’d find himself looking up at the sound of the door opening, only to be slightly disappointed when he saw it wasn’t you. sometimes, he’d even wonder if you had been hospitalized from drinking all of that espresso and worried about what specific degree of murder he eventually participated in. ‘i mean, the customers do have a right to order whatever they want but won’t i also be blamed for actually making that twenty-shot espresso?’ kageyama found himself wondering.
the second time you came in, he stood up so abruptly that you were a bit startled when you stepped into the shop. “w-welcome to beanies,” kageyama stammered. the other customers, and akaashi, who was thankfully working that day, looked at him in surprise. kageyama very rarely greeted customers who came in.
“hello yourself,” you smiled at him. kageyama blinked at you, searching for any sign that you had been hospitalized from caffeine overdose. unlike before, you definitely looked to be in a much better state. for once, you were actually wearing regular clothes instead of pajamas and you didn’t look like you rolled out of bed.
“is... something wrong?” you asked.
“oh, no. sorry,” kageyama cleared his throat. “what will your order for today be?”
“a regular iced americano please,” you answered.
“alright,” kageyama let out a little sigh of relief as he typed in your order. maybe you were capable of ordering normal drinks after all. “any add-ons?”
and that’s where he made his mistake.
“how about twenty pumps of hazelnut syrup and twenty pumps of that vanilla syrup,” you added.
“twenty... twenty pumps each of hazelnut and vanilla syrup,” kageyama repeated, looking at you wearily. “are you absolutely sure about that?”
“absolutely,” you said, nodding with conviction.
at this point, kageyama abandoned almost all attempts at being a caring but generally neutral café employee. “that’s going to be terribly sweet. toothachingly sweet. there are customers who’ve only ordered half-pumps of syrup because it’s too sweet.”
“then i guess my drink will be eighty-times sweeter than the regular drink,” you said with a glitter in your eye. you didn’t look like you needed all that sugar, unlike that time you first came in. you were clearly out for a good time and that good time meant downing a shit ton of syrup. kageyama gave up because there was absolutely no dissuading you.
“alright then,” he said, writing your order down a cup before passing it to akaashi who had just finished washing the pile of blenders and cups at the sink. he took one glance at the drink before looking up at kageyama with wide eyes.
“no.”
“yes,” you grinned from the other side of the counter. akaashi swallowed and looked at the order on the cup, then at you, then at kageyama, who gave the slightest nod of his head, before finally starting to make it.
kageyama didn’t quite want to look at akaashi, who was pumping the handle for the syrup as if he was giving someone CPR, and decided to watch you while you lingered by the glass display case of pastries and cake with your hands in your pockets while waiting for the drink. unfortunately for him, kageyama’s stare had always been intense enough for people to notice he was staring.
“what?”
“wh-- I,” he stammered, caught off-guard by you turning to look at him. kageyama felt his cheeks burn and prayed that akaashi was done with your drink but he was still pumping syrup and muttering under his breath. “i was just... wondering how you were still alive,” he said honestly.
“oh, after that espresso drink?” you cocked your head to the side. “that was like ten shots, right?”
“twenty!” kageyama exclaimed.
“is that so?” you laughed. “well, if you must know, i had pulled off two all-nighters in a row and had to do my exams so, naturally, i needed caffeine.”
“yeah, but, twenty?” kageyama emphasized. “didn’t you, like, collapse at some point.”
“i actually have no memory of those days,” you sighed wistfully. “according to some people, i was shaking the entire time while taking my exams and i passed out under a tree and that a campus guard woke me up. some of them said that i was talking to the pigeons but i don’t know how reliable that source is,” you laughed. kageyama found himself chuckling at the story.
“order up. one americano with... twenty pumps of vanilla and twenty pumps of hazelnut for y/n,” akaashi said, passing the cup to kageyama. he couldn’t help but glance at the abomination that was your coffee order. since the syrup always went first into the cup, it had settled in the bottom even after akaashi stirred the whole thing. from there, kageyama could clearly see that the ratio between americano to syrup was probably 3:4.
“h-here you go,” he swallowed, handing the cup to you with a straw. you took your drink from him but gave the straw back.
“are you sure you don’t want, i don’t know, maybe a little more coffee?” akaashi asked. kageyama had only known the cafe manager for a short period of time and knew instantly that akaashi wasn’t the type of person who was so easily shaken by customers.
“this is good. thanks!” you smiled before proceeding to open the lid and down at least half of the drink. kageyama felt his mouth hang open while akaashi gave a short gasp beside him.
“how... how is it?” kageyama asked hesitantly. he watched you smack your lips together.
“sweet.”
“i can imagine so,” akaashi said.
“thanks again,” you smiled, stopping by the cashier again to drop a tip before leaving the cafe. it was silent for a while before akaashi spoke up.
“you know, those forty pumps of syrup weren’t actually that hard to do. it’s all about the wrist movement really. so, i must say...” akaashi paused and put a hand over his mouth. “that was one of the funniest fucking things i’ve ever witnessed.”
...
soon enough, you turned into a regular customer at the cafe and every time kageyama thought you would run out of ideas for what outlandish drink to order, you exceeded his expectations again. it became more of like a game to you with kageyama egging you on instead of trying to hold you back. “so i’ll have five espresso shots with ice and five pumps of the caramel syrup.” “just that? you had eight shots last time.” “fine, eight then!”
even akaashi joined in on the fun and even looked forward to whenever you’d come in. while he worked on your drink, kageyama would talk to you while you lingered by the counter. he quickly learned that you were quite the chatty type and always had something new to talk about when you came in: the weird things your roommate did, your comparative analysis on the different types of instant ramen, and that one time you found a single airpod in the middle of the park. kageyama was more of the type to nod and listen, not that he minded, and he’d often find himself laughing at your stories.
it was actually akaashi, the ever-perceptive co-worker whose expert, Manager Eye didn’t miss the tiniest of details: from the amount of paper napkins per table to the earnest smile on kageyama’s face whenever you came in, who picked up on the tension between you two first. and as much as he loved pumping boatloads of syrup into your drink orders, he also kind of wanted kageyama to make his move already.
“ooh, you guys are hopping onto the bubble tea trend too,” you said, humming with amusement as you perused the new menu.
“believe me, that was not out of free will,” kageyama sighed, remembering how many orders for brown sugar bubble tea he received on that day alone, as well as the new task of having to cook the pearls every morning before they opened.
“hmmm, let’s see. what can i do with this,” you smiled to yourself and tucked your hair behind your ear. kageyama couldn’t help but feel drawn to the excitement on your face. “i know! how about your regular house milk tea with ten add-ons of pearls.”
“ten?” kageyama felt a smirk curl on his face. you narrowed your eyes at him but grinned nonetheless.
“i mean, twenty.”
“alright. regular house milk tea with twenty portions of extra pearls. is that all?”
“let’s make it fun and add two servings of that milk foam,” you said.
“good choice,” kageyama grinned as he wrote the order on the side of your cup. this time, instead of handing it to akaashi, he proceeded to make your drink himself. akaashi went on with his task of refilling the coffee grinder with new beans, once in a while noting how kageyama’s fingers would drum on the counter, bringing attention to his nervousness. on the other side of the counter, you were watching kageyama with an expectant expression on your face akaashi looked up at the ceiling and sighed softly. ‘there are just some things i have to do myself,’ he thought.
luckily, the opportunity came in the form of another customer.
“kageyama,” akaashi called to his co-worker. “i’ll finish that up for you,”
“oh, uh...” there was conflict evident on kageyama’s face and akaashi had to stop himself from smiling. kageyama wanted to make your drink but he also wanted to follow his store manager’s orders. “sure, i’ll take this one,” he finally relented, passing the cup that was alread half-filled with tapioca pearls to akaashi before attending to the customer.
while kageyama was occupied, akaashi added the tea into the cup before topping it off with milk foam. and, just before pressing the plastic seal, wrote down kageyama’s phone number on the side of the cup.
“caramel frappe with an extra pump of syrup,” kageyama muttered to himself.
“i’ll take that,” akaashi smiled, plucking the order receipt from his hands before he could protest. “go and give y/n their abomination drink.”
“sure!” kageyama nodded, a little bit enthusiastically. he took the cup from akaashi, giving it a little shake before handing the drink over to you. he didn’t notice his own number written on the side.
“here’s your drink that’s pretty much fifty-percent tapioca pearls,” kageyama handed it to you.
“hah, i had a mental image of how this would look like but actually seeing it takes the cake,” you laughed as you shook your cup, admiring the layers of milk foam, tea, and tapioca pearls.
“you know, this is probably the weirdest-looking drink you’ve ordered,” kageyama snorted as he watched you admire your drink.
“i know, it looks alien almost,” you chuckled. “well, time to try it out.” you took your straw and attempted to poke a hole in the plastic seal only for the plastic to stubbornly stay in place.
“oh, the plastic is a bit on the stronger and stubborn side. here, let me,” kageyama wrapped his hand around yours to take the straw before poking it into your drink with an expert flick of his wrist. it was only then that he realized that his hands had touched yours and that he didn’t quite ask for permission.
“i, um... sorry about that,” he stammered, backing away a bit.
“no, it’s perfectly alright!” you shook your head before taking a cautious sip of your fifty-percent tapioca pearl drink. as expected, you got a mouthful of tapioca pearls. kageyama snickered at the look on your face but kept watching with undivided attention as you tried not to laugh while chewing through all of the pearls for what felt like ages. meanwhile, akaashi watched the two of you from behind the counter, knowing full well that you and kageyama were a perfect match.
“how is it?” he asked, breaking the silence after you had swallowed all of the pearls. you can tell by the look of his mouth that he was trying very hard not to laugh.
“it has... a very... unique texture,” you said slowly, stifling your own laugh. you never thought that a trip to the local cafe to buy a fuck ton of espresso to get you through a few days of school stress would lead you to falling for the cute, dark-haired barista and to this moment now: ordering a drink with fifty-percent tapioca pearls and chewing a mouthful of them in front of your crush.
“maybe if you shake it you’ll get some of the actual milk tea drink this time,” kageyama suggested.
“that’s not a bad idea,” you nodded, looking down at your cup and giving it a few shakes, careful not to spill the contents. it was only then that you saw akaashi’s sneaky addition to your cup. right beside your name and ‘+20 extra pearls’, was a number. more specifically, a phone number. you felt your jaw drop and the blood rush to your face.
“what? something wrong?” kageyama asked. “too many pearls?”
“well, that’s what i ordered,” you laughed nervously. “not... an extra phone number.”
“a, ph-phone number?” kageyama stammered, feeling the hairs on the back of his neck stand up when you showed him your cup. “th-thats, my...” he felt his voice catch in his throat at the sight of the number that was undeniably his. meanwhile, the culprit, akaashi, smiled to himself as he served the next customer their caramel frappe. kageyama quickly caught on to what his manager did but knew, deep down, that he was unable to confront akaashi about it right now.
and besides, was that a hopeful look on your face? kageyama knew that he scored pretty low when it came to emotional intelligence, but even he could see that.
“yes, it is,” he said decisively. to him, it felt just like that moment when it was his turn to serve and he was deciding which part of the court he was going to send the ball to.
at that, you felt your eyes widen and your grip on your cup tightened. was the cute barista that you had consistently ordered weird drinks from, partly out of curiosity and partly because it just became Your Thing, kind of asking you out?
“i, wrote it down, because i want to get to know you a bit better,” kageyama said slowly. “hopefully, not just over weird drinks that you order here?”
you let out a chuckle at that last part and kageyama got the hint that he was doing quite well. akaashi secretly grinned to himself at a job well done. “well, you know me,” you shrugged. “i don’t exactly mind extras with my drink order.”
“i, what?” kageyama blinked, puzzled.
“they mean that they liked you giving their number,” akaashi called out to him. kageyama felt himself flush with embarrassment.
“yes, that,” you laughed. “um, i have a three-hour lecture and then another class to get to right now. i can text you right after?”
“sure! sure, sure!” kageyama said, a bit too enthusiastically but at this point, he was too happy to care.
“alright,” you nodded brightly. “i guess i’ll head out now. and... finish this,” you held up your cup. “text you later, kageyama.”
“yeah... later,” he grinned as he watched you leave. he was still grinning when akaashi appeared beside him with his arms crossed.
“i’m not going to apologize for writing your number on the cup,” akaashi said. kageyama rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly.
“i guess, i should thank you, then?” he swallowed, glancing at the store manager from the corner of his eye. akaashi smiled.
“you can thank me by making sure you text them right back,” he said.
“will do,” kageyama nodded.
he spent the rest of the day checking and re-checking his phone, especially during his breaks at volleyball practice. it was completely written on kageyama’s face that he was expecting something, but they knew that asking him would just incur his wrath.
finally, your class ended, and you grabbed your phone before staring at the screen, wondering what exactly you should text.
and then, kageyama heard the notification from his phone and opened your message quicker than he opened any other text he received.
from: unknown number
my jaw hurts from chewing all those pearls. i have made a Mistake
kageyama laughed out loud as he typed out his reply. you guys would get along just fine

Morning Coffee
a/n: im on a road trip and i crave coffee, also pls excuse the crappily edited akaashi 😔✌️
pairing: akaashi x gn! reader
wc: 1.4k
Tumblr media
Everyday, you go to the same coffee shop. And everyday, you’re met with the same barista.
You could remember his first day on the job almost perfectly. You had been going to the same coffee shop for a couple of months now and quickly became acquainted with all the workers. Upon entering the shop you immediately spotted an unfamiliar face behind the counter.
The lighting in the room complimented his tannish skin and his dark eyes immediately caught your gaze. He seemed to stumble over his words when you were up next. You gave him your usual order and his hands seemed slightly jittery while he made your drink. The manager of the shop, Bokuto, playfully patted his back. When he handed you your drink you thanked him, taking a quick glance at his name tag.
“Good luck with the rest of your day, Akaashi.”
He was stunned for a moment, questioning how you knew his name until he remembered he was wearing a name tag. Bokuto came up and leaned on Akaashi’s shoulder, “They always order the same thing every morning, I suggest you memorize it.”
When Akaashi asked why, Bokuto shrugged. “It’ll get you on their good side.”
-
The next day, at the same time, you entered the shop. Just as Bokuto said, you ordered the same thing, then left. To where? Akaashi could only assume. You were decently dressed in casual clothes, and you seemed around the same age as him so he took a guess and thought you went straight to the college nearby after getting your daily coffee.
As Bokuto suggested, Akaashi memorized your order. It wasn’t difficult, he only messed it up twice before he got the hang of it. He was happy you weren’t mad when it happened. He apologized multiple times and even though you seemed to be in a rush, you didn’t get mad at him. You just giggled, “Don’t worry, it happens to the best of us.”
He quickly grew accustomed to your schedule. Everyday, at 7:05 am, you entered the shop and ordered the same exact drink. His coworkers noticed how he always had your coffee ready so when you entered, you could pay then leave. They found it kind of odd how he memorized your schedule so fast, but this caused a lot of teasing— especially from a certain grey and black haired manager.
“Ya know ‘kaashi, I think they like your coffee the most.” Bokuto said one day with a pout.
Akaashi looked at him confused. “Why would it matter? If they order the same thing everyday it should come out the same.”
Bokuto could only cross his arms and shake his head, “I wish it worked like that Akaashi. It doesn’t matter if it’s the same order, it depends on the person making the coffee.”
Bokuto clearly saw the look of doubt on Akaashi’s face when he said that and he was determined to prove his point. “Watch, when they come in here again ask them whose coffee is better.” Bokuto smirked.
Akaashi hesitantly agreed, just so Bokuto would drop the topic.
-
The next day came quickly and as usual, you arrived at 7:05 am for your daily dose of coffee. When he handed you your drink he decided to ask the question. “Whose coffee do you prefer, Bokuto’s or mine?”
You didn’t even have to think. The answer slipped past your lips easily, “I think yours tastes better, sorry Bokuto!”
Akaashi could feel Bokuto going into his emo mood and he knew he’d have to deal with him before more customers started piling in. Your answer confused Akaashi. “But, why?” Akaashi continued, “it’s just coffee, does it really taste different if another person makes it?”
You took a sip of your coffee and let out a content sigh, the flavor dancing happily amongst your tastebuds. “When you make my coffee, I can tell you don’t make it half-assed. You make my coffee just how I like it. In fact, it’s almost scary how perfect it is, considering you’ve only been working here for a couple of days.”
Akaashi still looked unconvinced with your answer, so you shrugged, not knowing how else to answer his question. “I mean I’m no coffee expert, so I guess you could just call it a preference?”
Akaashi then watched as you exited the shop, questioning if coffee really tasted different depending on who made it.
-
Weeks pass, and your schedule doesn’t change.
Akaashi’s coworkers haven’t stopped teasing him about it, but he’s learned how to block out their comments. Overtime feelings for you started to bubble up in his chest and he wondered how his coworkers realized this was happening before he did. But, that still doesn’t mean he would give in to the teasing. If he confirmed their thoughts, who knows what they might try.
It wasn’t until weeks later that something dawned on him-
“I don’t know their name.”
Bokuto’s laughter could be heard throughout the small shop, causing some of the customers to raise their heads in curiosity, trying to see what made the manager burst out laughing. “It’s been weeks ‘kaashi! How did you just realize?!” Bokuto clutched his stomach, almost falling over.
Meanwhile Akaashi was freaking out. How did it take him so long to realize he didn’t know your name? Is it too late to ask? Would it make things awkward? He could always ask his coworkers, but then you’d probably get freaked out on how he found out your name!
“Woa, I think this is the first time I’ve seen Akaashi stressed out about something!” Konoha gasped.
“It’s kind of scaring me, I’m not used to seeing him like this..” Yamato shivered.
Yukie had to hold back her giggle when he gave Akaashi a pat on the back, handing him a little snack, “ Heyy, no worries!~ just hand them a snack when you ask for their name and I doubt they’ll care!” This caused most of the workers to sigh.
“Not everyone is easily persuaded with food, Yukie..”
“Oh..” Yukie eyed the snack in Akaashi’s hand, “so.. you’re not gonna give that to them?..”
Akaashi handed Yukie the snack and she walked away, satisfied she got to keep her snack. “How about you just ask them for their name when they come in for coffee? I’m sure they won’t mind.” Washio tried to calm down Akaashi.
“Yea! They don’t usually get upset over little things like that!” Bokuto started pushing Akaashi towards the coffee machine, “now hurry up! They’ll be here soon!”
-
Now, this was unexpected.
It was now 7:15 am, and you still haven’t arrived for your daily coffee. This was unlike you.
He had your schedule memorized, and you were never late. His coworkers tried to reassure him, telling him that you’re only human and that things sometimes happen. Maybe you got stuck in traffic, or maybe you were just feeling a little under the weather and decided to stay home for the day.
Of course he understood that, but he couldn’t help but feel sad. This was the only way for him to communicate with you and he cherished every little interaction you two had in the morning. Looking at the drink in his hand, he suddenly came up with an idea.
“Bokuto.”
The golden eyed boy turned his head to the sound of his name being called, only to be met with a determined look on Akaashi’s face.
“Do you have a pen?”
-
You entered the coffee shop, looking like a disheveled mess. You had slept through all of your alarms, causing you to wake up late and not have anytime at all to organize yourself. Despite all that, you could not skip out on your morning coffee.
To be specific, you could not skip out on seeing a certain messy haired barista.
Akaashi’s eyes landed on you the moment you walked in and for a split second you saw his eyes widen. “Hey!” You shakily held up your hand, “sorry I’m late.”
“You don’t have to apologize.” Akaashi responded, already handing you your coffee.
You thanked him, paid, then immediately ran out the shop in hopes that you’d make it in time for your lecture. As you took a sip of your coffee you noticed a little message written on the cup.
‘I know it might seem strange telling you this, but I never got your name. I noticed you don’t stop by on Saturdays and was wondering if you’d like to grab coffee with me that day, maybe you could tell me your name then? ;)’

Halloween Shorts Specials*
BNHA: Reader x Bakugo
Barista Beauty
Side A:
Y/N L/N is a college student by day and tired overworked Cafe Barista by night. Busting her ass to finish up school, she has no time for dating or college parties. The last time she had done anything holiday related was the year before, when Mina dragged her to a party she didn’t want to go to. One unforgettable night, and a grenade keychain was all she got out of it; knowing full well she’d never see her mystery stranger again.
Side B:
Katsuki Bakugo. Popular college boy with Pro-football prospects. Great looks, great grades, and a popular girlfriend that can sometimes get on his damn nerves. Half his college life has been spent going to parties or occupying the only cafe on campus where he can get any damn peace. The last time he had felt any genuine happiness was the year before when dumbass Denki dragged him to some dumbass party where he swore he had met the girl of his dreams. Too bad the only thing he had to remember the evening was a keychain in the shape of a coffee tumblr.
How do two strangers who seemingly spend ZERO time together end up with their true Happily Ever After? Through anonymous texting or nosy best friends that don’t know how to mind their own business?
Haikyuu:
Reader x Bokuto
STRANGER DANGER
BOKUTO KOUTARO: Famous Pro-volleyball Player and Bachelor extraordinaire. Not by choice, but mostly by circumstance. All Bokuto wants is to find someone to do cute couples costumes with, watch scary movies with, and snuggle. He’d also like to FINALLY pull one over on Atsumu and Kuroo considering they win the couples costume contest every damn year.
Y/N, L/N: New to the city and the ONLY person that could actually beat Atsumu when it comes to any ridiculous holiday contest the man could come up with. Working at the Onigiri shop, she finds herself roped into helping a stranger finally get one over on her long time friend.
Join Bokuto as he tries harder NOT to fall in love with the mysterious Y/N forgetting about the competition entirely. And join Y/N as she finds herself falling for the most genuine idiot she’s ever met.

“rain in the cafe”
Pairing : Iwaizumi Hajime x fem!reader
Genre : slight angst, fluff???
Warning : third perspective (again :DD)
the rain kissed her cheeks as it continued to pour gently from the charcoal skies. it was far too soggy to call it spring and they hadn’t been expecting showers to go on for the next few days. it was supposed to be the time where cherry blossoms were at the pinkiest and the roads to be tainted with the petals.
she sighed. her chances of looking forward to drawing the beauty of spring was out of her grasp. maybe this was what she was meant to paint. the showers and the angry clouds. the loosely hanging wires and the sturdy electric poles. the dark grey color of the pavement and the way the leaves submitted to the droplets.
she went to the nearest cafe she could find, hoping to get shelter from the raging showers outside. maybe she will continue to the canvas shop once the latter subsided. a small sound greeted her as she pushed the door open to the cafe. the smell of freshly brewed coffee hit her senses first, followed by the aroma of bread coming out of the oven. a small smile made way to her lips, probably the first in the midst of the continuous storms.
her eyes greeted the sight in front of her, inspecting every detail she could see. the slight rusty photo frames and the newly polished metal chairs were slightly of a contrast in her eyes but they work together magically. the low chatter of the people, mostly soaked from head to toe, enhanced the place, giving it quite the cozy atmosphere. her eyes finally landed on a back she thought was so familiar. the movements of the muscles and the shape of the shoulders - reminded her of a person she had once drawn and had treasured so much.
the said person seemed to be in his zone as he continued brewing the coffee he was holding in his hands. those hands , lined with veins and the ruggedness she loved. no doubt, the person was who she thought he was.
amongst turning around, iwaizumi was not expecting to see his ex standing at the entrance of the cafe. staring at him with the same doe-eyes he fell in love with and her hair up in a bun. her shirt was hanging loosely on her, the same one she loved to wear when they were dating - his shirt. the girl who he loved to cuddle with on days like these and hug her as she splatter paints across the canvas. the same girl who had been his warmth on cold days and the one who was eager to stay with him for eternity. he missed her.
she slowly trudged towards the counter- ones lined with marble - the ones that stood out the most in the cafe. her order that she had carefully arranged in her mind seemed to have disappeared as she muttered out her usuals- a frappuccino and two cookies. her eyes seemed to wonder off everywhere expect meeting his, especially not when she still hadn’t gotten over him. she heard the same deep soothing voice, one he used to whisper loving words in her ear, pushing her to the very edge- making it difficult for her to hold back her tears.
iwaizumi was not a fool. he knew how she kept glancing away from the counter every time he confirmed her order. he handed her the change, hoping to get a slight touch of her as he did. but she was rather reluctant, whispering the words to keeping the change, crushing his intentions of remembering her touch. he turned around, his hands already memorising how he had used to make the same frappuccino for her - the way she love it. with a hint of mocha and heavy on milk.
she heard his call for her. almost with the subtle hint of adoration and love. maybe she was dreaming- quite possibly half true. her fingers wrapped around the drink, taking the very first sip as she settled on the table beside the window. her mouth was in delight, savouring the taste of coffee on her tongue- one he used to make her everyday was once again hers. she fluttered her eyes opened- ones she did not know she had closed- only to catch her by surprise. for on the side of the drink, a sticky note wrote:
“ i still love you”
