"y/n!"
you turn in the corridor, almost crashing into the burly man behind you who yells a "watch where you're going blondie!" before rushing off to a class he was probably late to.
you spot your friends who had called you, grinning and waving you over, "can't go one day on campus without running someone down can you?" a friend teases.
you pout, "i didn't walk into anyone yesterday!"
"no but you got stuck in the revolving door outside the chem building."
you whine at their teasing, you were a naturally clumsy person! sometimes you'd mix up salt and sugar, and sometimes you'd lose your car keys only to find them still in the ignition keyhole of your car from the last time you used it.
"so you coming to that party tonight? i heard some famous dj from the states is playing."
"awwh really?! i can't tonight i'm failing that dumb math class i have to take and i have a quiz tomorrow so i gotta study."
"you're failing everything y/n, what difference would one night make for you anyway?" a scoff from a student passing by, who you recognise as the infamous hirai momo from the back of her head and the evil way she sends a side-eye at you and your friend group in disgust.
"i wouldn't be if it weren't for your sad ass hirai!"
"stop looking at my ass and get your eyes on some books for once."
momo was meant to be your roommate in first year. although you had accidentally locked her out in the rain for 5 hours while you were hooking up with someone you can't remember the name of anymore. that was during orientation week, safe to say she was pissed and completely drenched when you finally let her in. she filed for a roommate change not long after, citing "poor etiquette and stupidity that could infect my genius", and being the university's most promising academic scholar, she pretty much got whatever she wanted. meaning she also got you assigned to the harshest tutors and markers as her own form of personal revenge, essentially making you fail most of your first year courses. which is why you were even taking this math class again.
the problem arose however, when you find out you would actually lose your scholarship if you failed another class. so failing was definitely not an option.
⋆。°✎ᝰ ˎˊ˗
“you failed.”
“what!? but i studied all night! i even brought the right calculator model this time!”
“miss l/n, bringing the correct calculator doesn’t help you if you don’t know how to use it. and neither does studying all night if you haven’t been coming to class for most of the semester.”
you’re gaping at the professor in disbelief.
“i’m afraid you’ll lose your scholarship if you fail the upcoming final exam. take this as your final warning. good day miss l/n.”
the door is shut in your face while you're still left trying to process exactly what just happened, mouth opening and closing like a goldfish.
a familiar scoff behind you brings you back though, "what is y/n l/n doing here outside the staff meeting room? what? about to blow one of your professors for marks or something?"
you spin, stepping into her space, faces inches away from each other, "you jealous or something hirai? i'll blow you too if you beg."
you revel in the way her cheeks immediately flush, a slightly shaky finger pushing up the glasses on her nose as she looks away, "jokes on you l/n. i don't have a dick dimwit."
"you don't need one for me to make you feel good."
she's sputtering, moving around you quickly to escape, knocking on the staff door. you smirk, reveling in the slight win over her but immediately forgetting the feeling of triumph when you realise you're still fucked for your final in 2 weeks.
⋆。°✎ᝰ ˎˊ˗
"y/n, you know i love you, but i cannot explain this again in any other way."
you groan, hands coming up to pull at your hair.
"but you got like a high affliction or something for this class last year! if you can't teach me i'm actually royally screwed, pleaseee?"
"it's high distinction sweetie. and just because someone's good at something doesn't mean they're a good teacher. sorry to break it to you but i couldn't teach my little cousins how to multiply fractions without wanting to commit homicide."
you wrinkle your nose, "gross dude they're literally related to you."
"no babes homicide means i wanted to kill them."
"oh... i guess that's better?"
"focus! c'mon you remember how to do the cross product right?"
"i don't get ittttttt!!!!!!! isn't that just multiplication? a times b equals ab!"
"this isn't algebra it's vectors. cross product isn't multiplication y/n."
you groan again, facepalming the desk in front of you.
your friend sighs, "sorry y/n i have to get going now. promised my boyfriend i'd go watch his game tonight."
"what?! you can't leave me here!"
your friend's already packing up their stuff though, "sorry! good luck with the studying though!"
you wail in goodbye, sitting up again and slapping your face a few times, trying to hype yourself up.
two minutes later, and you're still absolutely nowhere.
you decide to go out for a quick stroll rather than start a campfire in the middle of the library with all your papers. the evening breeze feels refreshing against your skin as you take in the sky. breathing in a deep sigh and closing your eyes briefly.
definitely the wrong idea when you crash headfirst into something that yelps a "what the fuck!" followed by the sound of smashing glass and a whine of pain.
your eyes are quick to open and you stare down at a bleeding hirai momo next to what looks to be a ruined 3D print of a final project or something.
"oh shit momo! are you okay?" you crouch down quickly, trying to collect the glass pieces that have broken, yelping when a piece digs into your skin.
"has all that bleach finally reached your brain y/n? who goes for broken glass with their bare hands?" she's frowning, rubbing her head a little and inspecting the cut across her arm.
"i-i'm sorry i-"
she sighs, "save it. i've had a long enough day as it is. being around you any longer is just gonna increase my chances of dying to some freak plane crash or something." she's standing up and brushing her hands off on her pants muttering to herself, "i'll have to call security to come clean this up."
you realise then that her eyes look a little puffier than usual, slightly tinged with red, the telltale signs of crying.
you suddenly feel terrible. whatever you had just broken seemed like an extremely intricate piece of work, and she was still bleeding down her arm but she didn't seem to pay it much mind, taking a phone out of her pocket and dialing security.
you step to the side and wait for her to finish talking on the phone. she doesn't realise you haven't left yet, swearing under her breath as she assess the damage once again.
when she turns and sees you again, she scowls, "what are you still doing here bimbo? don't you have a dick to ride or some jewelry to shine?"
you ignore her, blushing instead, "you're still bleeding."'
she looks surprised at that response, glancing at her arm again briefly and shrugging, "it's whatever. i'll clean it up later."
you wrap a hand around her wrist then, still not meeting her eyes, "let me? it'll be hard to bandage it properly with your left hand. and i kinda owe you for all of-" you gesture vaguely with your other hand at the ground, "this."
she's tugging her hand back quickly though, "don't bother. you'd probably make it worse. just go home y/n."
you sigh exasperatedly, "won't you just let me help! i feel bad okay? i can't just leave you here bleeding onto the concrete waiting for security to come clean this up."
she's surprised at your outburst, eyes locking onto yours and then nodding slightly. you don't let her rethink her decision as you drag her back inside the library, heading into the storeroom where you knew they had emergency first aid supplies.
you sit her down on the chair and rummage through the small kit for some alcohol wipes to clean the wound first.
she's eyeing you with a sort of caution, but is quick to clench her eyes shut and gasp at the first sting of disinfectant.
it's quiet for a bit while you work on cleaning her wound.
"where'd you learn first aid?" she speaks up first, eyes meting yours again.
"my little sister used to play around a lot with the rougher kids in the neighborhood. so she was always coming home with scratches and cuts and my mom was at work most of the time so i had to learn to take care of her myself."
momo hums, "guess that didn't really translate to taking care of yourself then huh? i mean with the way you're always tripping over air and stuff, you're more of a danger to yourself than a serial killer would be." there's no malice to her words this time, just lightly teasing you and you smile.
"i am sorry by the way. for breaking that. it looked like it'll be pretty hard to replicate."
"nah. i can just print another one tomorrow don't worry."
you both fall into silence again as you finish cleaning her wound, going to collect a few of the bandages to start wrapping around her arm.
you clear your throat a little awkwardly, "so... long day?"
she chuckles humorlessly in response, "something like that."
"wanna talk about it?"
she bristles then, and you're quick to correct yourself, "i mean you don't have to. just... making conversation."
it's quiet for a little longer and you're finishing wrapping her up, grabbing a small adhesive to stick it all together when she sighs. "sorry. just had a lot of pressure from back home lately. my parents keep wanting me to hurry up and graduate so i can go back to japan and take over the family companies. they called earlier saying how they're cutting off my funding for next year if i continue to drag out my studies."
"what? but you're only 23. don't you have like, things left you wanna do before you're all old and unable to move anymore?"
she giggles a little, its the first time you've heard that from her, "yeah tons actually. i've always wanted to see the northern lights and stay in one of those cute little igloos in finland, maybe go to antarctica and do some research there."
"okay! do that! what's stopping you?"
she smiles at you sadly, "my parents won't allow it. they'd disown me for not taking over their companies. and frankly, i'd be broke without them. i don't have the kind of money to keep living abroad like this if they were to stop supporting me."
you tilt your head a little in confusion, "can't you find a job?"
she's laughing then, a full, nose-scrunching laugh, "not with the classes i'm taking. i'd have to either take part-time study, which my parents would literally kill me for because it's 'embarassing' and would bring shame on our family name, or... never sleep again and take a night job or something."
you frown, sitting back on your heels.
"thanks for this by the way. you're still hurt though, do you want me to do you?"
"-and don't make a weird joke about that." she interrupts you before you can even open your mouth.
you pout, nodding a little as she laughs, and grabs the first aid box from you, gently placing your hand in her lap and cleaning your fingers.
you're caught by the way her eyebrows furrow a little in concentration, her teeth biting into her bottom lip slightly, and you can't help but think she looks cute.
you're brought quickly out of these alarming thoughts though, when she asks "how come you're in the library so late on a friday night anyway? never thought the day would come."
you groan, remembering the stack of math papers you have sitting on your desk, "i have to study for a math final coming next week. if i fail i lose my scholarship and i can't let my mom pay for any of this. she's already worked hard enough getting both my sister and me through school."
momo looks surprised at your admission, "oh. i'm sorry. i didn't know you were on scholarship."
you hum, "yeah most people don't assume it from looking at me." you tease a little, flipping your blonde hair over your shoulder and giving a little jingle of your bracelets.
"i'm not materialistic or anything but i enjoy having things that make me look nice y'know?"
she rolls her eyes, placing bandaids carefully onto your fingers.
"you don't need any of those things anyway."
you're caught again, unsure whether that was a compliment or some new way of torturing you.
she clears her throat, "all done."
you look at your hand, cutely littered with some winnie the pooh bandaids she must have found in the first aid kit.
you beam up at her, "thanks!"
she blushes a little and looks away from you, shyly rubbing the back of her neck, "hey look... i can help you study for that test next week if you want. don't want you losing your scholarship over something simple like that. plus i kinda helped go through all the first year math exams for some extra credit with the head of department."
you're shocked at first, and then jumping and squealing, bringing her up with you, "what?! you will?! oh my god thank you!!!!! holy shit oh my god i'm not gonna fail oh shit i'm-"
she's shooshing you in an instant though, a hand clamped over your mouth, eyes darting behind you, "y/n! we're still in a library!"
you grin when she lets you go, whispering loudly, "thank you!"
she's rolling her eyes and letting herself be dragged over to your table, praying that she didn't make the wrong decision deciding to help you.
⋆。°✎ᝰ ˎˊ˗
momo's standing outside your lecture theatre, waiting for your class to end. you texted her saying you were getting your final results back today so she decided to pop by and make sure everything was okay.
once students start exiting the class she slips in, walking towards the professor who's packing up her stuff..
"momo! good to see you here. although i'm a little surprised. i wasn't expecting you."
"hey professor kwon. i'm just here to-"
momo's attacked from the back, you're squealing as you latch onto her excitedly, waving a test paper in front of her face, "i passed! momo look i passed! with a 62!!!!! that's higher than i've ever gotten!!!!!"
"miss l/n. i didn't know you knew momo." professor kwon is looking you up and down with a little distaste but you ignore it, squeezing momo even tighter in thanks.
"y/n- stop- wait lemme see that-" she snatches the paper out of your hand and scans it, eyes lighting up when she confirms you did in fact pass.
"congratulations! all that hard work really paid off."
you're blushing, "couldn't have done it without you hirai. c'mon, come out with my friends and i tonight to celebrate!"
"o-oh i don't know about that y/n... i've got-"
"study yeah yeah you always do. but you've gotta relax every now and then you know?"
"miss l/n is right momo. you're the most hardworking student here you should give yourself a break every now and then."
you're nodding fiercely, "right right! thanks professor kim!"
she looks at you with a glare, "kwon. its professor kwon miss l/n."
you're nodding, waving her off shaking momo, "c'mon pleaseeeeeeee? i'll pay for everything. as a thanks for helping me. and i can afford it now too since i won't be losing my scholarship which is also thanks to you so..!"
momo's still uncertain, hand at the back of her neck again, a nervous tick you've picked up on.
"oh professor i just remembered!" you're switching back to your professor, excitement and attention everywhere, "you were looking for outstanding students to tutor next semester right? how about momo? she's the only reason i passed this final and trust me when i say i'm a pretty difficult student to teach."
"oh?" the professor looks towards momo who's eyes have widened, "i had actually planned on asking you regardless but seeing as you were very successful with miss l/n it's just even more proof that you'd be a great teacher. what do you say momo? it's paid decently and great on your academic and work transcripts as well..."
you're looking between your professor and momo with full eyes.
momo looks like she's about to reject the offer, you knew it was because her parents expected her to be back in japan next year but you stop her before she's able to say anything.
"momo! this is great! this is exactly what you need! a job while you're still at uni so you can study at any time but still get paid for it!"
"y/n..."
"it's okay momo. think about it and let me know if you're interested and you've got the job 100%. i've got to get going to my next class now but goodbye girls, congratulations miss l/n but i hope i won't be seeing you in my class next year."
"oh definitely not professor kim!" you wave enthusiastically, giggling at the way the professor sighs in defeat.
you look back at momo who still looks a little stunned.
"well? what do you think?" you ask her excitedly.
"i- i don't know... there's a lot to think about..."
you tilt your head to the side a little in confusion, a gesture momo was beginning to grow fond of.
"i can't just abandon my family y/n. it's a decision that will take me some time to go over." she smiles at you gently, you can't believe this was the same girl who used to call you mean words and intentionally pray on your downfall.
"mm okay. i don't really get it but as long as you're happy in the end it doesn't matter. now c'mon! you coming tonight or not?"
she sighs fondly, "yeah yeah just this once. and we better be home by 12!"
you're pulling her along again scoffing, "riiiiiiiiight 12pm maybe."
"y/n!"
⋆。°✎ᝰ ˎˊ˗
momo was most definitely out of her comfort zone. she mostly stuck to the bar, avoiding eye contact with people who tried to approach her. she quickly ordered another drink, hoping the alcohol could at least ease her nerves.
you were most definitely in your zone. you adored being able to dress up and let loose, especially when everyone else is so drunk you’re no longer the only person falling over themselves. you could laugh a little and have fun as well.
you could feel momo’s eyes on you and you ached to drag her out onto the dance floor and join you but she was adamant on staying by the bar when you had tried.
you’re not sure if it was the alcohol or maybe you were just attracted to her now after you’ve spent a whole week studying with her pretty much every minute of every day. but she looked good. you licked your lips as your eyes trailed down the slant of her jawline, her neck and clavicles outlined in the halter top she was sporting. your eyes politely moved past her chest but darted straight down to the abs that she apparently had hidden from the entire student body. how did she even have time to have abs when she always had her nose in a book or was in a lab conducting experiments?
you snap out of it when you realise said abs were moving closer to you for some reason, and suddenly she's all in your space, shoving someone behind you that you hadn't even realised was there in your momo-induced daze.
you turn to see a man with half his shirt unbuttoned and a look of surprise on his face. "the fuck dude?"
momo says nothing, reaching for your drink instead, sticking a finger in and swirling it around for 2 seconds before bringing it to her lips.
that was hot.
"rohypnol."
"what? what the fuck are you on about?" the guy is annoyed, drawing the attention of bystanders as they create a small circle around the three of you, you spot your friends in the crowd looking at you in confusion silently asking what's going on?
you can only shake your head, attention moving back to momo who's standing up straight, almost chest to chest with the guy now.
"rohypnol. a drug belonging to the benzodiazepine class of drugs that inhibits the central nervous system causing the user to experience extreme drowsiness and even blackout in some cases. it can also cause the user memory loss and brings the user to a higher state of intoxication in a rapid amount of time. it's street name is roofies."
the man is sputtering now, "w-what? what is this bullshit? what are you tryna say huh?"
"that you tried to roofie my friend here. do you want me to call the police? have them check this drink for traces of the drug?"
"what!? the fuck?!"
momo sighs, her eyes closing for a second, "is your vocabulary only limited to what? and the fuck? it's getting tiring talking to you."
he's gaping like a fish, the people surrounding you have called security over and they're tying his hands behind his back and he's left squirming against them, yelling more curses as momo stands stoically, watching him get taken away.
she sighs when he's out of sight and turns to you with a smile, "you should be more careful. you could've been hurt tonight."
you can't even think straight and the music is being turned back up, and momo looks so good, you can't help the way you're pulling her in by the waist and planting your lips on hers.
she makes a sound of surprise and is shocked for a second, but closes her eyes and returns the kiss, maneuvering you a little so she can place the spiked drink on a nearby table before her hand returns to you, one hand cupping your cheek, the other on your shoulder.
you're a little desperate when you claw at her abs that are now within touching distance, and she giggles into the kiss. you mutter a small shut up, reattaching your lips, feeling all the adrenaline of the night pumping through you as you mould yourself against her.
"god is it weird that- that kinda turned me on a little?" you're speaking between breaths, her lips swallowing up your words, not letting you catch a break.
she hums lightly against you, "which part?"
"the- when you were talking- about all those chemicals- and whatever-"
she breaks away from you then, an eyebrow arched and a hint of a smirk on her face, "you get off on me talking nerdy?"
you want to wipe that smirk off her face. "take me home and i'll show you what i get off on."
her eyes darken considerably, and she's tugging you towards the exit, grabbing the spiked drink and pouring it down the drain first to make sure no one drinks it. the little action of consideration even when you're both overwhelmed with lust just gets you more wet.
you send a quick text to your friends saying you had to leave early, and then you're in a cab, lips on each other's again, hands roaming and exploring every inch of available skin.
you suppose the one good thing out of that math exam was it bringing the two of you together at last.

Tumblr media
You were introduced to your dorm. Yaga informed you that you'd be able to take a day or two off to get to know the place before you started classes. You didn't bring much with you, honestly. Other than any outfit you could fit into your suitcase and some necessities. Everything else was left behind at home in your moments of panic.
It did not bother you much with your families lack of financial stability. You are not allowed much of the little things. But you hoped you could at least try and attempt to make this the room of your dreams.
So for now, a small picture of you after losing a tooth — seven years old — with you in your smiling mother's arms, would be the only decor.
But now that you were settled, you were kind of stuck. You were unsure whether or not to escape your room and mingle or sit here in silence. As tempting as the thought of making friends out of the three other classmates you had was, you remembered how students at your previous school treated you and got cold feet.
You were always socially inept due to the constant distance from others that people and your mother forced upon you.
It's not others fault that they didn't like you, you thought. Maybe it was because you didn't offer to help with their studies, or maybe it's because you always got so scared to try and connect with others that they got the wrong idea.
No matter.
Here, hopefully, you could start anew.
For now, you need to do research. Still, to this day, your mother's words ring through your head.
"Teaching you is such a hassle," she brushed it off as a joke as she kissed your head, but you knew better. Because you could still spot the frustration in her expression. She must've been in a good mood that day, for she didn't blow a fuse.
But you didn't want to make anyone else feel the way you made your mother feel. You didn't want them carrying your weight. So to prevent that, you'll make sure that by the time you start classes, you'd be more than knowledgeable with jujutsu sorcery. And classes were tomorrow so you wanted to start as soon as possible.
A library...
You'd have to leave the room to find that. You became nervous all over again. The possibility of running into someone was unknown, you still didn't want to risk it. To soothe yourself you tapped your knuckle against your mother's face in the photograph. Thinking of her calmed you. If you thought of it as becoming a better person to help her, you could conquer the world if you wanted to.
You wiped the imaginary dust off her glassed face with your thumb before you turned towards the door, a new determination in your veins.
You slid your door open quietly as to not make any noise and alert anyone else. Your mother hated when you got loud. as you were ready to tiptoe around the school, a familiar girl blocked your path as she stood in front of you.
You yelped in surprise, jumping back. You didn't expect her appearance.
"Ogawa [Name], correct?" It was the girl, the model girl. One of your classmates, the only other girl. Even her voice was gorgeous.
"Yes..." You whispered, a finger hovering over your parted lips as you stared.
"I'm Ieiri, Shoko Ieiri. call me Shoko."
Your voice practically shook with awe, "Shoko. I'm Ogawa [Name]..." Before you could fix your slip-up, Shoko looked at you, subtly bewildered, before her lips stretched into a small smile.
"I know." She motioned her head to the side, "Follow me."
It didn't take you much to heed her command. instead of having to go to them, one of them came to you. The idea of her wanting to be your friend made you eager, but you didn't want to get too ahead of yourself. Maybe she was just being courteous.
You walked besides her, falling a bit behind. Even though you knew there weren't many people at Jujutsu Tech, you didn't like the idea of someone catching you walking besides her. People never took to you walking side by side with them, afraid of the accusations of being acquainted with you. as if it was a bad thing. And maybe Shoko would think the same.
You don't think you'd mind. You were always used to being the shadow anyways. So it was okay with you. you were surprised she approached you. That was enough for you. Even if it was simply to be nice it didn't matter, it made you happy either way.
Shoko was such a nice girl.
Shoko turned her head slightly towards you, noticing how you lagged behind. She raised a brow, questioning, yet turned around and continued walking. But you noticed her pace was a bit slower.
The walk was silent, and you weren't sure how she'd take to you sparking a conversation. So you stayed silent and continued to follow her until you both stopped at a vending machine. She inserted coins before looking at you.
"What's your pick? It's on me." You don't think you'd ever get over her smile — as small as it was. You could tell by the stretch of her lips that she probably didn't smile that often. You think she should. She looks beautiful when she does.
"Are you sure? You don't need to do that! I can pay!" You couldn't, but you'd make another excuse. You were good at that (you weren't).
Shoko was already nice enough to accompany you, walk with you, and even talk with you. You couldn't let her buy you a drink, you just couldn't!
Her eyes crinkled and her smile turned somber, as if she understood you a little bit, "I insist."
Your face contorted, your lips downturned as your eyebrows knitted. You hesitated, and then you spoke.
"A strawberry soda is just fine." You fidget with your fingers.
She hums and clicks the corresponding button. You both watch as it tumbles down to the bottom. She bends to grab it before holding it out for you.
"Might wanna wait a bit, could explode on you."
"I promise to pay you back," you whisper, content.
You take it, savoring the coldness of it against your palms. Your mother was strict with what you ate in the house, especially since you guys weren't all that well off. So sodas were a luxury in your home. You couldn't help but let your eyes glitterm your face softening as you gaze happily at the soft drink.
Shoko notices, watching your face change as she sips on her drink. You're extremely odd. She thought that when you first entered the classroom and she still thinks that now.
You're quiet, eager, yet also cautious. You act as if you're stepping on eggshells in the presence of anyone. It irritates her a little, and she thinks she knows why.
She brushes away the seed of pity in her stomach at the way you gaze so happily at a cheap drink before she's calling your name. "Come sit."
Shoko walks to the bench beside the machine, patting the empty spot next to her.
You're perplexed once more. Now she was inviting you to sit by her. You didn't know what to think at this point. You were prepared for her to brush you away with a brief comment of paying her back.
But, not wanting to protest such a kind offer — or demand — you plop down besides her, making sure to put some distance. She sees, yet makes no comment.
You fidget with your soda as you stare down at your lap. The silence isn't uncomfortable by any means, but you're anticipating a conversation. With the invitation you expected her to say something first. but maybe that was asking for too much. You should say something first...
"So.." she turns to you as you look up, making immediate eye contact. You instantly avert your eyes, even more nervous than before. "Are you the only ones who attend this school?"
"Nah. There's the first year and Utahime in the third."
You wonder who utahime is, that must be another girl. You hope you can get along with her. You pop the cap of your drink, bringing it to your lips.
"That doesn't seem to be a lot," you're looking at her now, but she faces forward, sipping her drink.
"Of course it's not. You don't usually attend a school with only seven students. But there's the Kyoto branch as well. They probably have more students, I wouldn't know. I don't care to keep count."
"The Kyoto branch.."
"You honestly should've gone there, it's so much closer to your home. But Yaga is the one who found you so... lucky us." She turns to you with that already familiar soft smile, and you think her words are genuine.
Before you can reply, two pairs of footsteps approach your direction. You can hear their chatter and their voices are familiar.
You look up to meet the gazes of your two other classmates. The black haired boy's expression is more laid-back. He has a small smile on his face — you can see his slight dimples. He waves at you.
Whereas the white haired boy's face is blank, he's staring, but you can't tell what he's thinking. Those black glasses obscure any hint you can get as to what's on his mind. Seeing them eye you so openly makes you nervous. You use one hand to play with the hem of your skirt, your eyes dropping to your nails.
Shoko sighs at Gojo's lack of politeness.
"Of course you come to bother me and my new friend before the day starts," she rolls her eyes and you think she's being sarcastic. But you don't care to find out as you mull over her words, staring at her side profile. My new friend. Did she mean that? You really hoped she did, because you didn't know what else to do with the immense joy in your chest.
She meets your eyes, smiling.
"I'm gonna go for a smoke, alright? Watch them for me," she requests, as if they're babies that need to be sat. You panic at the idea of being with them alone and you think she can tell.
She tries to assure you, "I'll be back before you know it."
She's walking off with a wave, leaving you alone in an awkward silence with the other two. Or you think it's awkward — well it is for you anyways. Maybe you should've asked to go along with her. Even though you hated the smell of cigarettes you would manage if it meant not being stuck here..
Well technically, you're not stuck. But you're also too afraid to leave. They'd probably see that as rude. You merely sip at your drink, trying to appear nonchalant.
You look up at the sound of shoes clicking against the tiles, meeting the eyes of the guy with the soft eyes and odd bangs. He looks kind, he smiles at you and your tense shoulders relax a bit. It seems that's what his goal was, for his smile gets a little wider.
His friend inserts money into the vending machine, ignoring the both of you as the kind boy sits beside you.
"I'm Geto Suguru." His voice is soft yet deep, it resonates with you. You think you can fall asleep to the sound of him.
"Ogawa [Name]..." You try your best to maintain eye contact. It's hard.
"I know. You introduced yourself yesterday," he's smiling.
You don't know whether or not to be embarrassed of your second slip up of the day. So you settle for drinking more of your soda, staring at your shoes, finding a small comfort in the familiar marks that you've become accustomed to over the last couple years.
"When do you start class? I didn't see you today."
"Uhm, tomorrow I think. I'm just getting used to the layout today... or that's what I was told." It's so apparent that you're anxious, with the way that you fidget with your clothes and shuffle your feet. It's so embarrassing you might tear up, but it's all you can do. You really can't stay still.
Geto opens his mouth most likely to try and comfort you and get you comfortable with his presence. But before he can, Shoko calls out to him.
"Geto! I need a light!"
Your eyes trail up from your shoes to his face and you can see him sigh in exasperation. He opens his eyes, meets your gaze, and smiles sheepishly.
"I'll be right back."
As he gets up you realize who exactly you're being left with. Well, you don't really know. But what you do know is that his presence is unsettling, it's suffocating. You don't even have to be alone with him to feel that way.
You almost reach out and ask for Geto to stay, you're not exactly used to him, but he seems much kinder than his counterpart.
But it's silent once more and your eyes are right back to looking at your shoes. You finish off your drink and quietly as you can, drop it into the trash can next to you.
You're sweating, you're sure you are. But you don't make a move to wipe your forehead. You're not sure what to do. you're not used to conversing and mingling with other people. As little as three people is, it's still overwhelming for you.
But how can you excel in this school if you don't interact with others?
That question still doesn't push you, but you reminisce. You think of your sleeping mother, going back home, and you finally open your mouth.
"What's your name?"
Gojo blinks.
"You don't know who I am?" He asks, tone nowhere near condescending, it's genuinely curious, surprised. But you can't tell and feel a little humiliated.
"Oh. I'm so sorry, am I supposed to?" You're sweating once again, shuffling your feet as you speak up in a squeaky voice.
Every jujutsu sorcerer is aware of the existence of Gojo Satoru, the boy who altered the balance of the world on the day of his birth. But it wasn't like this didn't happen sometimes, so he brushed it off.
"Well," he opens his mouth but closes it, "No, it's whatever. I'm Gojo Satoru." He's looking into your eyes now, but due to the obstruction of his glasses, you can't tell. So you don't notice that he's eyeing you expectantly, waiting for realization to dawn on you.
It doesn't.
"What a pretty name. It fits you," you speak with kindness, trying your best to smile softly. You fail. It looks like a grimace. Gojo is close to laughing.
"So you really don't know who I am?"
Gojo was convinced that telling you his name, you'd know. People's jaws would usually drop, as they realized just who they were talking to. But you just sat there, clueless, as you moved your feet around with an empty confused look on your face.
"I'm sorry for repeating myself. But am I supposed to know? I'm new to this jujutsu stuff, honestly. So if you're a renowned sorcerer, I unfortunately wasn't aware until now." Seeing no reaction from him, your head drops a bit. "Sorry," you mutter under your breath, afraid.
You were so used to the reaction your mother gave you when you weren't all knowing. Angry, loud, and condescending. And with your only mother being the most present in your life, was it safe to assume Gojo would react the same way? If so, you were prepared, and maybe you deserved it. You weren't smart when it came to jujutsu after all.
"That makes sense," he says.
It's silent as you wait for him to add on. Which he doesn't. so he just sips on his extremely sweet drink as you stare at him, blinking.
He meets your gaze full force, seeing it as competition, neither of you looking away.
"I-is that it?" You tilt your head confusedly.
He blinks alongside you.
"Was there meant to be more?"
Now you're really confused. But you don't want to be painted as weird, so you try and let it go.
"No, nevermind."
It's silent again, for the third time. But it's not as uncomfortable as it was before. You get the idea that Gojo doesn't take to you. That' okay, Shoko being your acquaintance is enough to get you through this year. Plus, Geto seemed polite enough. Maybe not enough for you two to be close, but enough for you not to be so awkward around him.
Shoko's familiar voice bleeds into your senses and you look up to see her and Geto walking side by side.
"So, Ogawa. What do you want to do today? Since it's your free day." She sits beside you once more, with her here you can feel more relaxed. You didn't realize how tense your body was.
"Oh, I was just hoping to go to the library."
"Who does that in their free time?" Gojo snickers, crushing the can of his drink into a tiny ball. You're in awe at the raw power.
Shoko shushes him, "Cool. What for?"
"Nothing much. Just studying, really. Since I'm new to jujutsu and all."
"Yeah, that makes sense. You don't know your technique either, right?" Geto's voice pipes up, his finger is rubbing his chin as he questions you.
You shake your head 'no' in response.
"I can take you there if you'd like. If you don't know the way, that is." Geto smiles, putting his hands in his pockets.
You look at Shoko for some type of approval, she merely shrugs. It's not like you needed permission to go, you were just unsure.
But you look up at geto and answer quietly, "That'd be nice."
"You know I haven't made a trip there in awhile, maybe I'll find a new book-"
Before Gojo can speak any further, Shoko pulls him down by his blazer to sit. "You barely read, hotshot. Keep me company."
Shoko didn't really want to be alone with him, but she was aware you weren't exactly comfortable in his presence. That topped with Geto would surely make you anxious.
You turn to meet Shoko's eyes and she waves at you. You raise your hand a bit, waving back, before you turn forward and trek off with Geto.
Gojo crosses his arms, huffing as he watches you both disappear around the corner.
"Don't be intimidated by him," Geto speaks up once you're both out of earshot. You tilt your head to look at him. "He's not all that scary once you get to know him."
You're silent, not sure what to say. You tap your lip with your index finger, thinking of Gojo. You remember the knit of his brows when the fact that you didn't know him left your lips.
"I think he's upset with me."
Geto looks at you. "Why do you think that?"
"I didn't know who he was. I mean, I still don't know. But I think he was upset? I couldn't really tell. I guess I just kind of assumed," you say, sheepish.
Geto chuckles, and you're enamored. He seems so bright, you've only known him for a little while, but he's always smiling. You wonder what other faces he can make.
"That's new. He's from the acclaimed Gojo clan, so he's usually drowned in praise. He was probably surprised that you were clueless." Geto finishes with a mutter of how he wished he could've seen it go down.
"The Gojo clan?"
Geto eyes you up and down, as if surveying you. "You really don't know much do you?"
You shrink in on yourself. His voice didn't sound insulting, but you still felt a bit targeted.
He backtracks, "I didn't mean it like that, I promise. I'm just shocked. I've never met someone with the desire to be a jujutsu sorcerer so in the dark."
"But anyways," he speaks up once more, "There's three big families, Gojo being one of them if not the most prominent. They're known for their cursed techniques. Gojo being the limitless and six eyes."
You're still confused, but you think you somewhat understand. "What're the other two families?"
"Zenin and Kamo's. Oh, we're here," he says. You both arrive at the library, it's nothing much but it'll be perfect to study in. The size of it isn't all that big, more than a few chairs to sit in — those look pretty cozy. There's also ambient lit lamps sitting on each of the tables, it casts a warm glow in the room that could make anyone feel comfortable.
"There's no librarian. since not too many people know about jujutsu. So just take whatever, whenever."
You nod, your eyes surveying the shelves.
"Where should I start?"
"Well I suggest you go to that section, so you can learn what cursed energy is, cursed techniques, and how they work."
You nod, "Thank you for bringing me here, Geto."
He smiles at you, eyes crinkling as the hollow of his dimples show on his cheeks. This smile is genuine — all of them are — but there's a gentler, happier feel to this one. You stare for a little while before he finally bids you goodbye.
"Good luck, please let me know if you need help." You say yes, even though you most likely won't go to him. You'd be wasting his time, you're sure.
You planned on being there as long as possible. Of course, you were gonna get in enough sleep. But you need to learn as much as possible before tomorrow mornings class. Plus, not only would you study, you could also think of what to gift Geto and Shoko to repay their kindness.
You beamed thinking about it. You wondered how Shoko would react. If she would adorn that small smile. If Geto's eyes would crinkle again like they did today as his dimples came to light.
You hoped so, their happy expressions were their prettiest. You haven't seen much else from them but you're positive they look better when they're smiling.
You grab a couple of books and make your way to a table. As you open a book about the Gojo clan you think of Gojo. Should you get him anything? Even though he wasn't as kind as Shoko or Geto, you'd feel bad if you left him out.
But you think of his blank expression. How he stared at you as if he was peeling your entire being apart layer by layer and get shifty all over again. You weren't sure so you decide to push that subject to the back of your mind for later.

I’ve Loved You From the Start
Chiori x oni fem reader
Cw: nudity, Fem reader, reader is big bodied. Pinning, fluff with some suggestive themes
Tumblr media
“You don’t like it?” You said surprised. The kimono your friend had seemingly slaved over was truly magnificent to you. The beautiful patterns matched well with your horns. It covered every inch of skin yet allowed you full mobility. It was a boost of confidence to you, for your size was rarely provided in stores. Your weight was healthy for your kind, but humans still regarded you as obese even if the weight was mostly muscles. You were actually considered “underweight” by your oni parents who worried you were too skinny whenever you would visit. Truth be told you had to lose weight if you didn’t want to go out practically nude like Itto did.
“It conceals too much to me… most women don’t even conceal their ankles anymore much less everything below the neck.” She eyed you with a stern expression you couldn’t crack. But knowing her you figured she was up to something. Chiori hardly ever hates her creations. Old ones she views as learning experiences. You didn’t give her much creative freedom so that might be the reason.
“We-well I have to. Anything more revealing and I’d get those comments again.” You sighed.
“Oh please those folk are simply jealous. Your body is far more beautiful than any of those old crones were in their prime and they know it.” She said as she circled you like a shark. She lifted your hands and examined every inch until she just eyed your chest. Which protruded so.
“Well they weren’t all old people but I just can’t find anything my size there at all. I needed something like this but the price to have something customized is more than for other… normal bodies…”
“Nonsense. I won’t charge you a dime. If anything this is good for business. It shows I’m capable of branching out from the societal expectation. That my clothes aren’t simply for one body type but all who come in. And besides, you are far more eyecatching than any other model.” She spoke casually. You tensed a little but relaxed, a blush settled on your cheeks.
“You’re sure you don’t need anything? I could do a favor if you won’t accept my mora. I just can’t take this from you without giving something back.” You said politely. She paused, finally looking in your eyes.
“Are you busy today? I know you’re here on a trip but… I’d like to use you as inspiration for more possible projects.” She walked over to the curtains to draw them, placing s closed sign in the window and making sure not a single ray of sun would leak through.
“No actually. I was just going to go sightseeing in Fontaine. I hardly ever get to leave Inazuma so I made sure to have plenty of time before I return.” You eyed her suspiciously. She brought the paper screens to enclose the space, so even if someone walked in they wouldn’t see you two.
“Undress then.”
“E-excuse me?!”
“I’d like to see your body as bare as possible. I’m going to do some sketches for possible outfits.” She pulled out her sketchbook as she gathered some other utensils to draw with. You gulped. “You offered to pay me with a favor so this is the favor I ask of you. But if you’re uncomfortable I could find another way.”
“Uh… can I at least keep my panties on.” You asked. She sighed.
“If you must.”
Even though Chiori had been a good friend of yours in Inazuma, and had also brought you to the hot springs before, and had routinely seen you in your underwear, it was rather odd to stand posing while she scribbled. You felt incredibly nervous.
“Excellent. Turn around for me.” She instructed. You did so. “So obedient.” She whispered. You wondered if you misheard that. But either way you trusted Chiori. You knew she meant no harm, she wouldn’t do anything against your wishes.
“Um… might I ask what you’ll do with the sketches?” You asked.
“Make the one I find suits you most. I’ll admit its a shame you don’t prefer more feminine clothes.”
“Well I do its just I hardly get to wear them.” You explained. She seemed to light up at that clarification.
“Perfect, because that’s all i have been designing. Now if you’ll allow me I’d like to get a closer look.” She said.
“That’s fine with me.” Your approval seemed to evoke something as she circled you once more. You felt as though she’d bite or do something at any second. It felt invigorating. You had never felt sexy or desirable until you met Chiori. She treated you like you were the epitome of beauty itself. You did however deeply miss her In Inazuma. You felt safe walking with her down the streets. She had on many occasions left your hasslers speechless and sobbing on some occasions. She was known for her brutal honesty, even when faced with nobility. Its why you knew for certain she was honest in her intentions. And you knew that you would receive many outfits in the mail once you got home.
“Chiori… you’ve always been honest with your…um… sexual interest in me but I never knew exactly why?” You croaked as you struggled to maintain a facade of strength and endurance.
“Do you not realize that you’re almost what every lesbian would crave? A big beautiful wife, with a plumb chest and behind, thighs thick enough to crush, tall, strong, and oh so polite. You’re everything a femme could want. If only you would leave Inazuma. You know, a fellow fashion designer caught sight of my sketches of you from back then and she wanted to know if you would be her model.” Her voice never wavered in any sort of embarrassment. You however felt a shrill run up your spine.
“O-oh.. i didn’t realize you like women too.”
“How?!” She seemed baffled at that response. “Oh please no man could ever compare to even the most basic of women. The curves, the plumps, the lips-“
“No i just didn’t want to assume anything. I figured you might have been but i thought it was wrong to make assumptions.” You quickly clarified.
“Good. I’ve made my interest in you far too obvious. It truly is a shame you didn’t want to come to Fontaine with me then.” She sighed. “People here seem to like you. They don’t have the biases of those retirement aged folk in inazuma. They see you as a stranger but also a kind one. I heard you helped a beached boat the other day, those sailors boasted about how you did the work of five men in one push. I’ve even noticed how the former hydro archon eyes you when we passed her the other day.” You truly were baffled.
“I-i was too worried then that.. i’d slow you down. Please say you’re not playing up my reputation here. I do love fontaine but If I leave Inazuma I want to be certain its the right choice of place.” You looked her in the eye as she still eyed your chest. Her hand reaching up to gently play with it. She looked at you as you turned red.
“I assure you my intentions aren’t just to keep you here with me. I have missed you greatly while here. The letters I sent don’t convey that enough to me. But I swear on a oathe that you could sue me for, the majority of fontainians I have heard from have nothing but admiration or curiosity to you. And if they had anything else I wouldn’t hesitate to correct them.” You kneeled so her hand could reach your face and brush the hair behind your ear. Her face was closer to you now as you looked at her. “I swear on the very life of every citizen in every nation, I would protect and provide for you if you just moved here.”
Your faced turned red, a expression of embarrassment and flattery. “I didn’t realize your feelings were that deep.. I just thought you found me attractive.” You gulped. You had been a expert with pushing feelings down, you loved Chiori but you never wanted to weigh her down. You worried your heritage would ruin her reputation or chances in life. You loved her so much that you had been slightly envious of that special patrol lady who had seemed so close to her. But you kept it to yourself.
“I have long viewed you for more than your tits, the reason I look at them so much is simply because of our height difference. But your body is not the reason I know those stereotypes are wrong, that every liar who says you are something else is wrong. I have witnessed your facade crack to reveal someone who is strong in every sense. You may lift a log but you do so for the child who’s stuffed animal was underneath it. You stopped your own and first vacation to help a beached boat and regularly step in to safe those in trouble. Your scars aren’t from battle but from good deeds. Your heart is more golden and radiant than any ring or necklace. If you were a stone, you would be the most precious and sought after. I have loved you all this time and I am not ashamed of it in any regard.” She said bluntly. Instinctively you pulled her in for a kiss. She didn’t resist one bit but instead moved her hands to your waist that instant. A wave of relief and excitement rushed over you int that instant.
Afterawhile she pulled away. “Now let me show you the extent of my love to you, so you can understand just how beautiful you truly are to me.” Her eyes shone with a desire no longer hidden. You nodded as you laid on your back, your legs spreading slightly.

if you love books, save a library!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I hear people on Tumblr talk a lot about the importance of libraries; now’s your chance to help save one!
At Vermont State University is a newly merging Uni in so-called North America, pushing together three previously separate universities: Castleton University, Northern Vermont University, and Vermont Technical College.
Just last week, the new VTSU administration sent out an email to faculty, staff and students announcing that all the libraries at each of the 5 campuses contained within these universities would be moving to an ‘all-digital’ model. Librarians will lose their jobs if this plan goes ahead; in fact, librarians were only informed of this change 11 minutes before the email was sent out.
We have come to understand that this means that all physical material will be removed from the library. They seem to want to do other things with the space, such as set up ‘a coffee or smoothie bar’ and determine ‘what students want’ to do with the space. This plan would go into effect on July 1st, 2023.
The fact is, students want to keep the library as it is. Quiet, and full of stacks and stacks of physical books. The administration cannot claim they are listening to students when we have demonstrated, via hundreds of emails and impassioned testimonies in front of the administration at a forum last week, that we hate this plan and oppose it vehemently. And the faculty and staff are with us, and they too have been speaking out. Not only that, the communities that surround these colleges greatly value having access to a research library, particularly in rural Vermont, and are opposing the plan as well, because, as far as I know, they will completely lose access to these resources if everything goes digital.
The image of the books above are what I just checked out today. I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed browsing the stacks, in one case (not pictured above) finding a tiny book of Milton’s poetry inscribed with a reader’s name and the year 1865. So many important and precious books like that one are to be found in our library. Each book I checked out hasn’t been checked out for at least 10 years, and that’s one of the administration’s excuses for taking all our books away: that circulation is down, and that, somehow, it costs money to let books sit on a shelf. As many people have rebutted, though, just because books aren’t being checked out doesn’t mean they aren’t being read within the library and, most importantly, it doesn’t mean that they don’t have value.
Below I will post some links to various local news article on this subject as well as one radio broadcast that will probably be able to articulate this situation better than I can.
I’m just so angry and upset about this. I’ve seen students and faculty alike crying about this situation, and an old lady braver than me telling the administration that maybe they should consider lowering their own salaries before taking away our books. I think everyone here feels powerless, because the administration isn’t backing down, despite all our protests, because ultimately their goal is profit and to make sure that this new ‘equitable’ University makes as much money as possible.
At the Castleton forum, the president of the University said he was ‘deeply humiliated’, by the outrage, by the heckling, the ‘throwing of verbal tomatoes’ as I have taken to calling it, by having his and his fellow’s bullshit exposed and questioned.
Please, please, if you care about books, about libraries, about the problems with big tech and the way it continues to invade all our lives, replacing physical experiences with their more hollow, less engaging counterparts; if you care about the interests of the people triumphing over the interests of capital, about students, about education, then please -- help save our books by spreading the word however and wherever you can, by flooding the inboxes of the capitalists below; tell them how you feel about this decision and its larger implications for books and libraries in general! Not so much to convince them that they’re wrong (they already know that and don’t care), but to make going forward with this plan more of a nuisance and a PR nightmare than cancelling it would be.
I don’t know if anyone will read or see this post, but please if you do and you care, reblog, educate yourself on what’s going on, and take action if you can.
A few disclaimers:
Any specifics I mention pertain primarily to what I, as a student at Castleton University, have either heard via word of mouth or seen with my own eyes. I am not officially speaking on behalf of anyone but myself.
The only exception to all the physical materials being removed from the libraries seem to be the books deemed ‘most used’ and some valuable historical collections. This was not clear from the beginning and not yet fully clear in any further specificity.
please try not to use violent rhetoric - as much as I’m not into policing people’s speech and anger, I don’t want this to backfire and I don’t want them to crackdown harder on us or make a big stink about it if they receive those kinds of messages

people do not understand how hard it was on the women in the camp and why they act the way they do and I’m tired of them getting hated on
Sadie Adler is allowed to be upset. she lost her husband, her home, everything, and has to adapt to the life of an outlaw all while still grieving and healing. she also has to share the same living space with the man who burned her house down to the ground and threatened to kill her. and even aside from Micah, she still isn’t treated all that fairly, being expected to do the more feminine chores around camp instead of being able to go out and hunt and rob. and she’s taken into the gang while it’s deteriorating so things just continue to go downhill and she loses one of the few friends she had made along the way at the very end.
Abigail Marston is allowed to be upset. she was a working girl at a very young age and was taken into a gang where her only real purpose at the time was to satisfy some of their sexual needs. and then she gets pregnant with Jack and her entire situation becomes more permanent. but then the father of her son ran away for a year and she was still surrounded by people who thought highly of him, she still had to do some sort of work either inside or out of camp, and I really think Susan was the only woman in camp who would know anything about pregnancy even if she had never been pregnant so the birth of Jack (and probably most of the pregnancy) was probably overlooked by most of the men excluding the ones like Hosea, Arthur, and Dutch. and then for John to return and claim that Jack isn’t his can only lead for her to have more emotional turmoil. and she couldn’t just leave the gang, she had nowhere to run to, a son to take care of, no job, and also a very limited amount of freedom. the gang moved a lot, the gang got into trouble a lot, there was always the fear that something would go horribly wrong and they’d loose a handful of people or that the law would finally show up. or that something would somehow happen to her son. we can see in the game how protective she is over him and how she’s still trying to get John to believe he’s his son. there’s also one interaction in the game where we hear Susan saying she should get back into the field of prostitution just to get some more money. one of the characters we see her closest to is Hosea, he’s a friend to her and had been the one to step up as a role-model for Jack and has spent more time with him in a day than John has in a month, so in chapter three when Hosea dies, it doesn’t get any easier for Abigail. AND HER SON LITERALLY GETS FUCKING KIDNAPPED???? she didn’t know if she’d ever even see her son again, and she does not owe John any kind of ‘thank you’ for rescuing their son. and we see the game where the gang is falling apart, characters die, people are tense and anxious, money is seemingly short no matter how much you donate, and her and her son are in what seems to be a situation they can’t escape from. I do not know every single thing she’s been through and have probably skipped over some details, but Abigail has not had the best experience in the gang.
Molly O’Shea is allowed to be upset. I already talked about her some here, but some people (@river-of-wine , @sweetybees , @dazednstoned) added things in the tags. Molly is promised a life of excitement and adventure from before the beginning of the game by Dutch, he isolates her early on so he’s really the only person she has a connection with in the gang, making her dependent on him. people in the gang and in REAL LIFE TOO are more often than not on Dutch’s side when it comes to Molly. as soon as we start chapter three Dutch becomes bored of her, already seeking out some other woman inside or out of the gang to rope into his life and his gang. so as literally any normal woman would feel, she is upset. she has no support group in the gang because of her isolation early on and the fact that most of the other women in the gang don’t care for her because she never had to do the work that they had to because Dutch made sure she would t have to. she has pent up emotions that lead to “outbursts” which only annoys the other gang members and causes her to isolate herself even more. Molly was a victim. she was not a bitch, she was not asking for too much, she was not undermining the situation, she just wanted Dutch to do the bare minimum for her.
being a woman in a gang in a world run by men was not easy. there are hundreds of other women in fiction and real life that have lived through these experiences, and the women in the VdL gang have it better than most cases, but they still don’t have it good. and this isn’t even to mention about how the world outside of the gang treated women (especially prostitutes and immigrants) at the time. a majority of the women in the VdL gang didn’t come to a good end, Abigail suffered throughout the gang, Molly and Annabelle got shot because of Dutch, Susan was Dutch’s ex and definitely suffered from his manipulation, I don’t really know about Bessie because she died of an illness and Hosea most likely treated her amazingly but she probably also went through some ordeals. the only women of the gang who really got out of the gang safe were Tilly and Mary-Beth.
Mary Linton is another thing, she does not deserve hate for leaving Arthur to live a better life, she did the smart thing by not marrying and running away with him because who knows what could’ve happened to her. I do not appreciate how she used Arthur’s emotions against him in the game and think that that is why she is a bit of a bad person, but she lived a better life than she ever would have if she was an official member of the gang. she got out before she was ever even in.
I can’t stop you from not liking characters, I’m not the biggest fan of Sadie but I can understand the hardships that all of these women went through.

Ok ok hear me out- Hobie with a gn!reader that's trying to get into the punk scene but it's difficult because their parents are quite conservative?
I did end up making it so that the reader is just starting to be interested in the punk aesthetic which is leading into the lifestyle but it's not fully explored so I hope you still enjoy it regardless!

The leather hung heavily over your shoulders; the jacket enveloping your form in a sweet warmth. You twisted in every direction and tried to ignore the distaste in your reflection’s expression as you considered how it looked.
With a sigh, you shrugged it off and cast it back over to the chair with a small curse. It never suited you, no matter which outfit you tried it with.
And worse, it’d started losing the comforting scent of your boyfriend.
You pulled off the few pieces of jewelry chosen for your late-night fashion attempt. They’d done nothing to help you feel more comfortable in the look you’d tried.
“What’s with the hate for my jacket? It’s hardly done anything to you.”
You jumped and hit your knee on the desk. The stinging pain didn’t fade as you twisted around to find him lounging across your bed, long limbs draped over his guitar as he watched you.
“Hobie? When did you get here?”
He put the guitar aside and stood, picked up the jacket from where it’d fallen on the chair and brushed it off. “Got ‘ere not to long ago,” he said. “Just didn’t want to interrupt.” He stepped behind you and draped the jacket over your shoulders, palms trailing down your arms to wrap around your waist and pull you into him.
“Interrupt what?” you laughed. “I was just messing around. I steal your clothes all the time.”
Having him so close relaxed any doubts you’d had. You closed your eyes and leaned into him, adored the way he cradled you.
He hummed in agreement. “It suits you.”
“Maybe.”
It was hard to force your brain to agree with him. You desperately wanted it to be true and for so long, you’d been stealing little pieces of his style. Maybe one day, you could unwrite the part of your brain that struggled to accept it.
He picked up the choker you’d been packing away, turned it around in his fingers. “I grabbed this one for you, didn’t I?”
“I wouldn’t have the guts to buy it for myself,” you admitted.
He huffed, breath tickling your ear as he did so. “What makes you think I bought it?”
You laughed a little. You should have known better indeed. In the very early days of your relationship, Hobie warned you that he wasn’t a fan of attachments. He didn’t do gifts or labels or anything like that.
The first time he showed up with small items, you’d been surprised with how quickly he went back on his claims. But he’d never liked consistency much either.
“You always put this stuff on late at night when nobody can see it. It’s a downright shame.”
“It doesn’t suit me.”
“Nonsense.”
“It doesn’t though,” you argued though you couldn’t help but relax into the warmth wrapped around your back. “It’s probably because I’m not used to seeing myself in that way. I wasn’t really raised to think it’s the best style ever.”
“Doesn’t matter if it looks good or not anyway,” he said. “That’s not the point of it. ‘sides, I know you like it on me.”
You laughed. “Hobie, you’ve been a model before. I think anything looks good on you.”
You twisted a little, hoping to get a look at his face though he seemed insistent on keeping his chin resting on the top of your head.
“So? Doesn’t change that if you like how I look with it, you’ll wear it even better.”
You looked down at the jacket wrapped around your body. The leather and chains, the spikes on your shoulders and the patches at random points. Everything about the aesthetic spoke to you but still…
“My parents would kill me if they saw me wearing this,” you teased.
“Who cares what they think?”
You sighed. “I know I shouldn’t but I can hear their voices in my head so often.”
He moved away from you by a small step and brought the choker up to attach it around your neck. You tilted your jaw up to help him. His fingers brushed across sensitive skin, sent small sparks of heat pooling into your stomach as he attached the tiny chain.
He met your eyes and smirked. Your heart fluttered a little and you reached up to touch the choker.
“Looks amazing,” he said and ran his thumb over the point of the spike. “Suits the jacket too. We’ll find you a pair of boots while we’re out.”
“Out?” you repeated.
He shrugged. “We have to make sure you fit in with the scene tonight.”
You frowned at him, finally turning around fully so you could face him. It really wasn’t fair for him to look so attractive when you were trying to focus. “Go out? It’s almost one in the morning.”
He shoved his hands in his vest. “Time is a construct. Who says we can’t go and find something fun to do now?”
“Where would we even go?”
“It’s a surprise,” he said. “But there’s a dress code.”
“Doesn’t sound like your kind of place.”
“Sometimes I can make a sacrifice or two.”
His eyes always burned with a fierce flame behind them, filled you with confidence even when you found yourself lacking in it. He’d always have your back even if you worried too much about what others might think.
“I don’t really have anything that suits this jacket.”
“You don’t need to. Wear whatever you want.”
You wished it was as easy as he made it out to be. Sometimes you thought you could entirely stop caring but it wasn’t as straightforward as you’d hoped.
He caught you off guard with a quick kiss to snap you from your concerns. “You’re going to look stunning in whatever you wear. Who cares what anybody else is thinking if that’s the truth.”
You couldn’t stop the smile on your face at that. “You’re far too sweet, you know that, right?”
He chuckled. “Don’t think many people would agree with you on that one. Just the opposite really but let’s get you ready. We’re going to find somewhere fun tonight.”

I hate being sick.
Everyone does, but some people enjoy the special treatment they receive from loved ones. But in my household, that is never the case. When I get sick, it always seems to be my fault. Too much time on my cellphone, not enough sleep, going out with friends too much—every leisure activity that could be blamed except for the fact that it actually happens.
Teenagers get two to four colds a year on average. But maybe I’m not a teenager after all since my mom says I should never catch a cold. Only weak people do. And annoyingly so, I kind of agree. As president of the class and of the school council, each day is vital. So, being sick is totally not on schedule and ruins everything. The time I’m spending lying on my bed staring at my ceiling could have been time for me to finalize our plans for the fundraiser and the booths for the upcoming school festival. But no, the universe decided that I should become the most helpless human being on earth at the time I'm most needed.
I couldn't even check my phone for updates or messages from other school council members. My mom is convinced that my phone single-handedly caused me to catch a virus and that it should be kept away from me. She even went out of her way to wrap it in a drawstring bag so my sister wouldn't get sick like me. I tried to do some schoolwork in advance, but I felt like my head was about to fall off, so I quickly abandoned that plan.
It was a day ago in Chemistry class when I started feeling ill.
Tumblr media
“Okay, here are five chemical equations to balance. I’ll give you a couple minutes to accomplish this and then we’ll get right to checking them.”
I look down right away at my notebook and copy the equations. By the second one, the numbers and letters are starting to jumble and lose sense. I feel like I’ve been reading the same number over and over again. I look up and around at my classmates to see if I’ve just been looking down too much, but I quickly regret it as soon as I see Jisoo’s head in front of me turn into three. I clutch my head and shut my eyes closed, hoping it would go away. Nevertheless, I go back to my problem set and attempt to accomplish it.
“Hey, are you okay?”
Looking to my right, where the voice is coming from, I see Seungkwan, who looks concerned. I quickly reassure him that I’m fine and that it’s probably just the heat. He nods in agreement, but does so hesitantly. Anyhow, I couldn’t find it in me to reassure him further as another wave of pain hits my head, and right at that moment I think I would just like to be hit by a train and be done with.
As I am looking down, I see a peek of navy blue hovering by my peripheral. I slowly turn my head towards it and see a jug held by Seungkwan, still with his worried face.
I’ve known Seungkwan for years. Our parents know each other way back from their childhood as we live just about 7 houses down by each other. It’s a small town too, so we go to the same market, same bakery, same school, and same dainty old cafes and restaurants. On holidays, we exchange meals and gifts, and simple hellos and goodbyes.
I remember the time before Nari was born. Seungkwan and I would always run around the house and play together. He invited me to his birthday parties, and I did too. Though, when we grew up and my father passed, I found myself forever changed. Seungkwan and I started to drift apart as a result of that, among other things.
Seungkwan has always been the most extroverted one in the room, and me, well, I’m completely on the other end of that spectrum. Wonwoo and Jiheon have always been quite introverted as well so we quickly got along. Surprisingly though, Wonwoo had also made friends with Seungkwan along with a few other boys. We would all be together from time to time at the park, the boys playing sports, and Jiheon and I, along with the other younger siblings of the boys, playing a definitely more beginner-friendly version of whatever game they were playing. All in all, we all got along well. Seungkwan and I would exchange conversations every now and then, but we weren’t as close and playful as we were before.
But I must admit, I have, and always will, hold a special fondness for Seungkwan. He was always sweet and kind, and even loved by all the elderly people in town. I recall the time I was out to buy some bread for our house, I saw him happily chatting with Chan’s grandmother. I say chatting, but more like gossiping by the way they were hunched and shifting their eyes. He would always make sure everyone in class was included, and he would always make everyone happy with his jokes and skits that he, Seokmin, Jisoo, and surprisingly, Jihoon, would act out. Seungkwan would also unhesitantly offer assistance to the student council during major projects. Sometimes, he would even stay late with me, saying, “So you have less to do tomorrow, and more time to rest!” He would then walk me home, and never forget to greet my parents and wish them well.
Seungkwan is lovely. And he is even more lovely now as he offers his water to me. Our drinking fountains have been under maintenance recently so, if I take up his offer he’ll have to wait until he gets home to get a drink again. He sees me hesitate and about to reject his offer, so he firmly places his tumbler on my desk and turns back to his notebook, offering no space for compromise.
In perfect timing, Mr. Hyun announces that the time is up and it’s time to check our answers. I pick up the tumbler, open it, and drink. I turn to Seungkwan quickly and smile. He smiles back.
By the next day, the headaches still come and go, but I keep it to myself and head to school anyway. During our break time, Wonwoo and Jiheon notice my weakened state and urge me to go to the school clinic.
“I’m fine! Just sleepy, that’s all.”
They share a look and thankfully leave my table.
But my peace is soon ruined as Jiheon slams a piece of paper on my desk. A clinic slip. The loud thump gathers the attention of the class, and they take notice of the much familiar white paper that occupies my desk.
“Oh my god, class president is sick?!” Soonyoung exclaims while exaggeratingly covering his mouth.
Usually unconcerned Hansol, Myeongho, and Junhui jerk their heads in my way with horrified expressions.
“I’m not sick! It’s just a small headache. It’ll go away soon.”
“It won’t.” Wonwoo says firmly with his arms crossed. “You’ve been having them since yesterday. Go to the clinic right now or else I’ll drag you there myself.”
Now, I'm usually assertive and tend to win in situations, but when I remember how Wonwoo once dragged Mingyu down the stairs by his backpack down the stairs because they were running late, I decide to sign the slip. I definitely don't want to be dragged like that.
On my way out, Jeonghan and Jisoo give me a few applauses with matching devious smirks.
I point at them accusingly and say, “Unlike you, I’m not pretending just to get out of class.”
Tumblr media
Now here I am, at home, holed up in my room, bored out of my mind. Until, I hear a knock on my door and see Nari peeking in.
“Unnie, your classmate’s downstairs. He’s talking with Eomma. Come quickly.” She says hurriedly before rushing out.
I wonder what’s Wonwoo doing here. He usually sends me a text if he’s coming over. Well, he’s been one of my best friends for years, and he has come over a lot, so it’s not like my family has no idea of his existence, and maybe, he thought that sending me a text would end up in me stopping him from coming over. Probably.
Knowing it's only Wonwoo, I skip glancing at the mirror to fix my appearance; after all, he's seen me worse. Still feeling a bit lightheaded from lying down for hours, I make my way downstairs.
“Yah, Wonwoo. You couldn’t even se-“
I halt and gape at the man in my living room who is definitely not my best friend with fifty-eight centimeter wide shoulders (we got bored in class).
Seungkwan stands there in his collared navy blue sweatshirt, holding a basket of tangerines, looking at me with an alarmed face, then gives me a soft smile. It is at this moment I truly realize how much the universe hates me. I probably look like absolute shit right now, and Nari’s sly smile only confirms that further. That little girl.
“Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to intrude or whatsoever. I hope it’s okay. I’ll just drop this off and go, I’m sorry again.”
My mom quickly butts in, “No, no! It’s alright Seungkwan. The gesture is much appreciated. And I know this one has been dying for a familiar face that isn’t ours.” She gives me a look, which I have no idea what it even means, and smiles. She takes the basket and heads to the kitchen bringing Nari along.
In the living room, Seungkwan and I find ourselves standing awkwardly, a noticeable gap between us. It's evident that he wants to say something, but he seems hesitant, perhaps fearing that he might not be welcome. Unable to bear the silence any longer, I take the initiative and speak up.
“Thank you for coming by the way. And for the tangerines too. Those are my favorite.”
“I know.”
His response catches me off guard, and my surprise seems to have unconsciously shown on my face, prompting him to explain further.
“In middle school, we were asked to bring our favorite food. You came in holding this single medium-sized tangerine. And you know, my family has a farm so I brought one too. I was really embarrassed because Seungcheol had brought this full-blown meal and everyone was gathered around him. But then you saw me, approached me and told me-“
“‘Tangerines are cuter anyway.” I finish.
We both share a laugh and in between our laughter he asks me, “What the hell does that even mean anyway? How could tangerines be cute?”
I look at him fondly and answer, “Well, they just are.”
There’s a pregnant pause that follows our laughter as we gauge what to do next. As I’m about to ask him what made him drop by, he already answers me with a sheepish smile, “I, uh, just seeing you pale and weak in class, and you not showing up today just really had me worried.” He scratches his head and looks away. “So, I decided to check-up on you to see if you were alright.
Despite my disheveled bed hair, crusty and pale lips, and being dressed in Anpanman pajamas, I confidently say that I'm doing well.
“Don’t worry, I’ll be coming to school tomorrow.”
He gives me a worried look, like the one he gave me a day ago in Chemistry. “Are you sure? I think you should rest more. The council’s doing alright with the prep anyway.”
Feeling my stomach flutter at his genuine concern, I try to brush it off, blaming it on my feverish state, and reassure him that I'll be okay.
“I’ll be fine, Kwan. It’s just a cold.”
Kwan. I hadn’t realized I used a nickname for him I gave him years ago until I had said it. Either he didn’t notice, or doesn’t really care as it doesn’t seem to have caught him off-guard, seeing that he still seems to worry about me.
“If you say so…”
Ever the worrywart, but undeniably cute.
?!
“Well, it’s about to get dark in a while so I should head home. It was good seeing you. I hope you feel better. And if you ever decide not to come to school tomorrow that’s a hundred percent just fine, and I’ll take care of letting our teachers and the council know.”
I chuckle and walk him to the door.
“Thank you, Seungkwan. For coming by, and for the tangerines. I really appreciate it. Be safe on your walk back, and see you in school tomorrow.”
A few steps away from the door, he turns around, now walking backwards, with that charming smile and says, “I mean this in the nicest way possible. I hope I don’t.” As he walks away, that smile still on his face, I wave goodbye, returning the gesture with a warm smile of my own.
Subconsciously admitting that I do feel a little under the weather, I retreat back inside, hoping to get more and better rest.
Nearing the staircase, my mom stops me, and Nari hovers behind her with a smile that makes me feel uneasy.
“So,” she starts, annoyingly elongating the ‘o’. “I haven’t seen you and Seungkwan together for a while.” I quickly try to jump to correct her until she interrupts me. “I mean, you know, conversing. Especially with him coming here to our home.”
“Yeah, conversing.” Nari butts in, also, elongating her vowels. I roll my eyes at them.
“Tell that sweet boy he should come over often like the old days. Makes me feel younger.” My mom yells.
Don’t think I’ll be doing that, but like the good daughter I am, I say okay anyway and go back to my room.
My head pounds as I struggle to wake up, attempting to open my heavy eyes. The blaring alarm in the background adds to my discomfort, and I quickly move over to silence it. Another second of that noise, and my head might just explode. Despite feeling weak, I gather the strength to stand up, determined to get ready for school
Looking at my state and the fact that I can’t even tie my shoes right without getting lightheaded should be enough reason for me to garbage the idea of going to school. But then, I remember all my missed classes and the council preparations. I can’t miss one more day.
During breakfast, I try my best to act normal and perfectly healthy. Nari gives me a side eye every now and then, waiting for a moment to catch me red-handed; pretending not to be sick. Fortunately, my mom is preoccupied with getting ready for work and preparing our lunches, so she doesn't pay strict attention to my condition.
So far so good.
I collect my things and head out. As I open the door, the sun blares right at me so I cover my eyes with my hands and take a few steps forward to get into the shade. As soon as I remove my hand, I jump out of surprise at the sight of Seungkwan.
“Yah! Are you trying to kill me?! What are you doing?!”
“I’m sorry! I just..” He trails off and leads me into confusion.
“You just…?”
“My mom!” He screams frantically, and I jump in surprise again. “My mom also knew about you getting sick, so she asked me to accompany you to school to make sure you were okay.”
“Oh, well, she really didn’t have to. I’ll send her a text that I’m alright-”
“No!” He screams again.
“Seriously! Why do you keep screaming so early in the morning?!” His agitated state isn't exactly helping mine, and the never-ending screaming is starting to make me lightheaded again.
“I’ll do it. I mean- you don’t have to send her a text. I’ll tell her myself later. Don’t. Send a text.”
“Okay, alright!!”
I turn towards the direction of the school and start walking. He quickly follows and walks beside me.
Trying to make small talk, he asks me, “Are you feeling better today?”
“Yeah I am.” Well, technically, yes I am better. I didn’t say anything about feeling totally okay, so I’m totally, technically, not lying.
“That’s good,” is all he says.
He doesn’t make further small talk and we make our way to school in comfortable silence. Even if we hadn’t maintained a close friendship all these years, I can never feel uncomfortable around Seungkwan. Somehow, he always knows when I am in need of a cheery conversation, or time to be left alone. He also supports me in any endeavor I take on, like running for class president, and school council president. He even went as far as taking Soonyoung and Seokmin to the crafts store, buying materials to make a ton of banners and posters for me. I thanked them by treating them to Chan’s grandmother’s restaurant.
As we arrive in our classroom, our arrival makes some commotion.
“Oh? Class president, hello! Seungkwan-ah… hello to you too.” Soonyoung greets, adding a wink for whatever reason at the end.
As we walk to our seats, I feel lingering eyes following our every move. I look back and see Seokmin and Soonyoung whispering to each other. I raise a brow at them, and turn back to my seat shaking my head.
“Sorry about Soonyoung. I guess he missed you.” Seungkwan says beside me as he settles on his seat. “We all did…” He adds.
Wonwoo and Jiheon approach me asking about how I was and if I was feeling better. I fed them the same remarks (not lies) as I did Seungkwan. Wonwoo looks at me accusingly but decides to brush it off and keep to himself. If I don’t want to be sent home, I should really look out for Wonwoo. He might smell my bullshit about being okay from a mile away.
I made sure to bring a lot of water, using the big jug my mother uses on family trips. And also, to avoid Seungkwan offering his, and ending up infecting him. After all he’s done for me, I really don’t want to do that to him.
I excuse myself and head to the restroom to take a pain reliever, so a headache wouldn’t come over and torture me during class. After doing just that and trying to get myself together, I head back and continue as normal.
At lunch, Wonwoo and Jiheon eat with me. As I open my lunchbox and pause, both of them point at me accusingly, “Aha! I knew it! You’re still sick aren’t you?”
I guess my reaction, or lack thereof, to seeing my lunch was a dead giveaway that I don’t feel so up to par. Usually, I would get excited and eat right away, leaving no crumbs for Jiheon to steal.
“Ugh, but I feel better now. I promise!” I beg, mostly to Wonwoo. “Help me here Jiheon, please?”
“Sorry, I’m with Wonwoo on this one. You’ve been overworking yourself these days and coming to school today will just make your fever worse. You need to rest. It’s okay to, y’know?” She says.
I lean back on my chair, any appetite I even had, gone. I appreciate my best friends’ worries, but I really can’t afford missed days. But maybe they’re right. I can rest, and if I push myself harder I’ll miss more school days than I should.
Wonwoo pulls out an all-familiar slip and pushes it towards me. A clinic slip, all filled out and ready for me to bring. “We’re only worried about you. It’ll be better anyway if you were here in perfect, healthy condition, than physically being here but your mind—no offense, helpless.”
I take the slip and put it in my pocket. And since I don’t have any appetite, nor will I be in the classroom, I offer my lunch to Jiheon, which she accepts excitedly. Wonwoo shakes his head.
I leave the room and head to the clinic. On the way, I really start to feel my fever taking a toll on my body. What even possessed me to leave my bed and get ready? I should have stayed and slept all day.
When I get to the school clinic, they take my temperature and quickly assess that I should be sent home (again) for better recovery. Nurse Yang tells me she’ll ask someone to bring my stuff over for me.
After waiting for a bit, the sound of the chimes by the door brings my attention to Jisoo who is wearing my backpack.
“Thanks, Jisoo.”
“No problem. Though, I’m kinda jealous.” I smack him square on the shoulder. Nurse Yang gives us a side-eye glance. “Kidding. Obviously.” He heads out the clinic, but not before shouting, “Get well soon, our president!” I chuckle at Jisoo’s antics. “Sorry about that.” I tell Nurse Yang, to which she only shakes her head at.
“Your mother says she’s near, you should go to the gate now. Get well soon, dear.”
“Thank you, Nurse Yang. Hopefully you won’t see me back here anytime soon.” I really, genuinely, hope that.
I meet my mom, who is visibly mad, at the school gate. As soon as I get in the car, she gives me a lecture. I drown it out, and use my headache as an excuse to nap, even for a bit.
As soon as we get home, she orders me to stay on the couch for dinner and to drink some ginger tea. Even though the couch might not be as comfortable as my bed, I still snuggle in and nap.
The sound of the doorbell wakes me up. Despite being just a few feet away from the door, I refrain from standing up to get it. I know my family understands my current sickly state, and they will likely get it themselves. I hear the door open and my mom’s delighted gasp.
“Ah, Seungkwan!” I jolt upright and check if my ears heard that right. I look at the door, and there he is, right outside, holding a paper bag and smiling sheepishly at my mom. I contemplate whether I’m dreaming or not, but with Nari tapping my chin, I guess I’m not.
“A fly might go in, Unnie.” She teases then runs away before I give her one.
Seungkwan greets my mother back. “Hello! Just wanted to drop by again and give this samgyetang Eomma made. I also just wanted to check if…” He points at me, on the couch, “…is okay.” He smiles, and waves at me.
“Oh! How kind of you Seungkwan. Come in, come in!” My mom ushers him hurriedly inside, and takes the paper bag from his hands.
She looks at me pointedly, “Make some space for him!”
Seungkwan, alarmed, quickly blurts, “Oh no, it’s okay! I can just stand here...”
Despite his protests, I move my legs off the couch and move off to one side. I look at Seungkwan, who has a look of horror (and a bit of shame) on his face, and pat the very vacant seat beside me.
“Seungkwan, it’s okay. Lying down for so long isn’t great anyway.” I reassure him.
“Well, I won’t be here long. I just wanted to check if you were okay. But also, I felt a bit guilty that I didn’t notice that you were sick this morning.”
If I thought my head pounding was painful, the rapid and loud beating of my heart in my chest is quickly overshadowing that pain. Kind, charming, sweet seat mate and friend Boo Seungkwan, who offered me his water bottle [despite the fact that he can’t get a refill throughout the day], dropped by my house afterwards to give me a basket of tangerines, came to my house early in the morning to accompany me on my way to school [even if he was closer if he were to walk from his home], brought homemade samgyetang, and now says he feels guilty for not noticing I was still feeling sick. I think I might just melt into this couch, actually.
Thinking of nothing to respond, I switch the subject and ask him how his family is doing.
“They’re doing pretty good. My sisters miss seeing you. They always liked you ‘cause they could dress you up and talk about girl things I probably can’t understand.” He laughs.
“Well, I miss them too. Being an elder sister to Nari makes me want one too. I’ll make sure to visit when I get better.”
To that, he merely nods. We’re left in awkward silence again. Running out of things to say, I impulsively invite him over for dinner.
“Oh, no it’s alright, I don’t want to be a nuisance.”
My mom overhears him and quickly excuses him (more like begs him with pleading eyes), “No, Seungkwan. It’s alright. We would love to have you over for dinner! It’s always just us three, so another would make great company.”
“Eomma’s right, Kwan.”
Kwan. The nickname again. I silently hope he doesn’t notice. And instead of dwelling on why it felt so natural to call him that, like in the old days, I beg him to stay.
“It’s the least we can do for all you’ve done for us, for me. The visits, the tangerines, the samgyetang, your water… Please stay.”
He looks at me to my mother, in deep thought. He fumbles with his hands, and I take notice of how slender and pretty they are. He takes a deep breath as he answers, “Okay.” My mom cheers and shouts my sister and I’s names, telling us to set the table and help her in the kitchen.
“Let me help!” Seungkwan says loudly, standing up from his seat.
“No.” We say in unison. Seungkwan gives up and sits back down with a huff.
During dinner, the atmosphere in our cozy kitchen is delightful, with lively conversation filling the air. A table for four, an antique lamp hanging right above our heads, and a lit candle on the counter. Seungkwan seamlessly fits in, right here beside me, engaging in cheerful chatter with my family. As we lock eyes occasionally, we can't help but share sheepish smiles.
In the middle of Seungkwan telling a story of how his sisters dressed him up for Chuseok last year, a sudden and powerful thunderclap reverberates the room and takes us all by surprise. Nari drops her spoon in surprise and latches on to our mother. As my mom consoles her, I look over at Seungkwan and see him deep in thought.
Oh right, he still has to go home.
“Oh, that must be the rain. Before it gets any stronger, I should probably go…” He says, looking down, afraid to disappoint my mother.
Out of concern (and concern only), I butt in. “What if it gets stronger as you’re walking home? Even with an umbrella, the walk home will still be pretty dangerous.” My overthinking self proves to be quite resourceful at this moment in concocting excuses, even though, in reality, it's not even raining yet. Despite that fact, I continue, “It’ll be better to wait it out, here, where you’re safer.”
I look to my mother in hopes she would agree with me. Her brows are raised but she relaxes them back as soon as I nudge mine for her to interject.
“Oh, yes. Agreed. Definitely. It’s time we took care of you, don’t you think?”
We all look to Seungkwan. An uneasy expression settles on his face. So, to assure him that he isn’t overstaying his welcome (I don’t think he ever can), I place my hand on his arm and smile softly.
“Please?” I squeeze his arm a bit. “I don’t want your family to get mad at me anyway for sending you home drenched.”
He chuckles and places his hand on top of mine. It’s warm. Where is this heat coming from? My fever? My naturally sweaty hands? My hand being sandwiched by his skin? The candle? Or maybe, it has something to do with the loud, fast rhythm my heart is going.
“Okay, okay. You convinced me.” He says out loud. His hand still on mine.
As dinner ends, my mother tells me to put on a movie in the living room to pass time in waiting out the rain. Seungkwan and I make offers to help with the dishes, but my mother is sure she can handle it and doesn’t let us forget that, actually, I’m still sick. Seungkwan, as if hit with this revelation, looks to me with shock as if he had also forgotten why he had come in the first place.
He rushes us back into the living room, settling on the couch, and picking a movie to watch.
“How about that one?”
“The Mimic?! Are you serious?! I’m sorry but no.” He says to me, as if very offended.
“But they said it’s good!”
“How about this one instead?”
The Lover’s Lake, flashes on the TV. I look to him in surprise. I should’ve known he was a rom-com guy.
“See, look. 5 star ratings! This is definitely the one.” He says excitedly. With this much excitement coming from him , I find it impossible to say no. He celebrates shortly, then stands up to dim the lights, setting the perfect mood, and then settles back down, wiggling around to find a more comfortable position. And this said position seems to be at a spot closer to me than he was previously.
I have this thing where, if the movie is good, I tend to instantly fall asleep. And that is just what I did. My eyes were getting heavy about just 20 minutes in. I had felt myself slowly leaning onto Seungkwan, and continued doing so until my head rested on his shoulder. He had not said a word about it, and continued to watch the film.
Maybe it was just my imagination, but he had leaned onto me too. Though, I wouldn’t be so sure about that as I had drifted off to sleep by then.
Tumblr media
“Okay, now just pull the bunny ears you’re holding. Pull them tight.”
Following his instructions, I pull tight and successfully tie my shoelaces. His face contorts in delight and breaks out in a big smile.
“See! You did it! Not that hard, right?”
“It was hard.”
He laughs and picks me up in his arms.
Giving me a big smooch on my cheek, he tells me, “I’m proud of you anyway, my love.”
“Thanks, appa.” I say, and hug him tighter.
“Now go back down and show them.”
I run down the stairs excitedly. Today’s my 4th birthday and my family and friends have come to celebrate with me. There’s people towering over me everywhere. Finding my way to my mom to show her my recent feat, I maneuver through the crowd the best I can, but in doing so, I bump into someone.
“Ow, my head!”
As the voice screams out, I instinctively reach for the spot where we bumped, trying to figure out who I even bumped into.
It’s Seungkwan!
“Seungkwan!” He greets me back with the same enthusiasm, both of our pains ebbing away.
“Look!” I point to my shoes and he looks down to see what I’m even excited about.
His jaw drops a bit at the achievement usually only 6 year olds can achieve. “You did those?!”
“Yep.” I say with a proud smile. He continues looking at me in shock and he looks down at his shoes.
Velcros.
I laugh heartily but stop immediately when Seungkwan looks back up at me with an annoyed face.
In an attempt to make him feel better, I ask him if he wants to go get sweets with me. He puts up a bit of a fight before agreeing, but says yes anyway as if it was his last resort.
I take his hand in mine as we weave through the crowd towering over us. He squeezes my hand every now and then, when someone bumps into him and he’s lagging behind, afraid I’ll leave him behind. I tug on his hand.
After what felt like the world’s most grueling journey, we arrive at the kitchen. The sweets are on the counter, but they are really, really high up—way beyond our reach.
Seungkwan and I share a look.
He gives me a nod and I return a look of confusion. He nodded at me like I knew what he was about to do, or that we’ve been through this a million times. He really needs to stop watching those spy movies.
He leaves for a moment and comes back with a stool. As he takes a step on it, it wiggles a bit and I clutch onto him immediately. I look up at him and he merely says, “Oops.” I furrow my brows at him in annoyance.
“Let go of me! I’m so near!” He whines while gently pushing my forehead.
I sigh in defeat and let him go.
He takes another step, both feet on the stool. The added leverage enables him to see the array of sweets on the counter, which, judging by his reaction, is a pretty damn lot.
“Woah! There’s bungeo-ppang, chocopie, songpyeon, and-” He pauses and lets out a gasp.
“What? What is it?! Tell me!” I beg, tugging on his shorts.
He looks at me to create suspense, and then screams in glee, “HOTTEOK! Our favorite!”
In utter surprise and excitement, I pull my hand away from Seungkwan and start applauding. But it seemed like I did it too quickly, causing him to lose balance. From the first wobble, I start screaming his name repeatedly.
“Seungkwan! Seungkwan!” I say it repeatedly, and too fast, that by some point (yes, at this point he is still pretty much wobbling, putting up a good fight) all anyone would hear is, “Kwan! Kwan! Kwaaaan!”
He falls.
I rush to his side and ask him if he’s okay. He stays on the floor, with his eyes closed. After a beat of silence, he starts laughing. I look at him in confusion, wondering if he hit his head too hard. Seungkwan is now crazy and I have to say bye-bye forever.
He opens his eyes and stops laughing as soon as he sees my expression.
“You sounded so funny. ‘Kwan! Kwan! Kwan!” He says, mimicking my voice.
I smack him square on the shoulder.
“Sorry. Here-” He tries to sit up and hands me something. A single piece of hotteok. “Happy birthday!”
I take it from his hand saying, “Oh. Thanks!”
“What happened here?!”
We both look up in surprise at the horrified voice. It’s my mother.
In fear, Seungkwan starts apologizing frantically. “Sorry! We just wanted some sweets but I fell down. Don’t worry they’re still fine! I just got one hotteok though.”
My mom sighs deeply and helps Seungkwan up. She returns the stool from where it came from and reaches for something on the counter.
“Here. One for you, since you fought so valiantly for it.” She says, ruffling his hair. Someone from the living room calls for her. She gives us a smile and walks away.
Seungkwan and I exchange amused glances and burst into laughter. Amidst our laughter, I manage to take a bite of the hotteok now and then, only to continue laughing with my mouth full. Seungkwan playfully teases me, "You hotteok addict! At least wait for us to stop laughing!”
I smack his shoulder again, which seems to urge him to tease me further. “Hotteok addict! Hotteok addict!” He starts mimicking my voice and my rushed tone from earlier, now saying, “Tteokki! Tteokki! Tteokki!”
“What does that even mean?!”
He shrugs. “I don’t know. What does Kwan mean?!”
“Your name is SeungKWAN, stupid!”
“Kwan! Kwan! Kwan!”
“Tteokki! Tteokki! Tteokki!”
“Yah!” We both look at the booming voice, and see my dad towering over us with his brow raised. Seungkwan and I look at each other and nod. Then we start running away in laughter.
Tumblr media
A loud thunderstrike jolts me awake.
Huh. My 4th birthday. That was the last time my dad celebrated my birthday with me, and the last time Seungkwan ever saw him alive. What a bittersweet memory.
I try to raise my head but feel a weight on top of it, stopping me from doing so.
My cheeks heat up at the realization. Seungkwan fell asleep too. And, he’s leaning on me.
In a state of panic, I try to make him more comfortable, but only lead myself to move my head and realize how stiff my neck is. I wince in pain which jolts Seungkwan awake. He looks around, feeling heavily disoriented.
“Sorry! I didn’t mean to wake you.” I say.
He looks at me with his mouth slightly open, his hair all floofed up in different directions, and a faint red mark on his left cheek where he was leaning on me.
He gains a bit of composure and says, “No! If anything, it’s my fault. Sorry for falling asleep on you. It must have been uncomfortable.” He scratches the back of his head, feeling a bit ashamed.
With no intention of lying, I agree with him. “Yeah, a bit. But it’s alright.” I say, laughing a bit towards the end to make him more comfortable.
“Well, it seems like the rain has stopped. I should head home…”
My mouth opens to say something, but the words seem to escape me, leaving me with a simple, "Oh."
He stands up to collect his things and prepares to leave. I stand and go to the door before he can, then Seungkwan appears in front of me.
I open the door and gesture my hand for him to step out first. He smiles shyly and heads out, with me following right after.
“So, uh, thanks. For coming by today. I really lo-liked having you here.”
“Me too.” He responds promptly. It seems to be a vague response so he adds, “Thank you, I mean. Thank you also for the great dinner and letting me stay for a while. Sorry again for… sleeping on you…” He looks away.
I laugh and tell him, “Kwan, you apologize too much y’know. Honestly, tone it down.”
He lets out a blissful sigh. “Well, I won’t keep you out here for too long. Goodbye.” He wistfully says, saying my name at the end.
“Goodbye, Seungkwan. I’ll see you in school.”
He starts walking away, towards his home, away from me. And for some reason, I wait. I wait for him to do something. Not exactly sure what. But I just feel like I don’t want this to end.
So I rush back inside the house and reach for something below the shoe rack. I run after Seungkwan, shouting his name.
Alarmed, he looks back immediately in shock. I stand before him tired and panting with my hands on my knees.
“What are you-”
“Here-” I hand him an umbrella. It’s pink and has flowers. “You should use this. Y’know, in case it- umm, rains again.”
He appears hesitant, almost ready to decline, but he stops himself and settles for a simple, kind, and gentle, "Thank you. You didn't have to do that.”
We stand in the middle of the street, just staring at each other with soft smiles. Just two people who have been gravitating around each other, now seemingly refusing to be apart.
He breaks the silence and says, “I’ll go now. For real this time,” while pointing a finger at me. We share a laugh.
Feeling a bit ashamed, I look down and say, “Sorry.”
“Ah, it’s alright.”
He smiles at me, and in response, I smile back and nod, silently indicating that I have nothing else to say to hold him back from going home.
“Get well soon, Tteokki.” He says, ruffling my hair. I say nothing about the nickname, like he did all those times before, and keep smiling.
Seungkwan finally turns back and walks towards the direction of his home, and I do the same.
Before I step inside, I can't help but glance back at him. Seungkwan continues walking with the umbrella hanging on his wrist, swinging it along with his arms. I keep my eyes fixed on him until his silhouette fades away.
With a sigh, I turn back inside, unaware that a certain round-faced boy had momentarily halted his walk and looked back, his thoughts mirroring mine. Just for a moment.
After an exhausting day of essentially doing nothing, I plop down on my bed. I fluff my pillows, get under my covers, and hold onto my teddy bear, hoping for the best sleep ever.
However, just as I close my eyes for about three seconds, I hear a notification sound from my phone. Unable to ignore it, I reach over to my bedside table and check the notification. The curiosity of not knowing what it is would surely keep me from sleeping soundly anyway.
It’s a message from my mom.
Confused, I swipe to open our conversation and see that she has sent me an image. It hasn’t fully loaded yet so I click on it and wait.
When the image loads, my heart starts beating quickly.
It’s a picture of me and Seungkwan sleeping on the couch. My head on his shoulder, his head on top of mine. My brows aren’t furrowed like they usually are. I look relaxed; at ease. I don’t look like I’m sick at all. And Seungkwan looks the same.
I zoom in behind us and see Nari smiling wide holding up a peace sign.
I shake my head and react on the picture with an angry emoji. Before I turn off my phone, my finger hovers over a button.
It doesn’t take much resistance from me to go ahead and click it, so I do.
Then a pop-up notification appears on my phone.
Image saved.
I smile to myself, then turn off my phone and head back to sleep.
Maybe I don’t hate being sick anymore.

Headcanons for being Jim Hopper’s child (Part 1)
Jim Hopper x child!reader
warnings: guns, knives, death, blood, cigarettes, alcohol and so on
a/n: might have 2 do another part bc it got so long lol. we’ll see how long that takes me
prompt: anonymous: “Could I request being Jim Hoppers teenage daughter headcanons please, like reader is as old as Steve, Nancy, Jonathan ect”
part 2 (tba)
Tumblr media
you spent most of your childhood in new york
but after things fell apart, after your sister passed, you decided to move back to hawkins with your dad when you were in middle school
which was very different than what you were used to.
starting with the fact that everyone knew your dad
and all eyes were on you to be a model citizen, you felt a lot of pressure to be the best you could be
most adults knew of the tragedy that struck your family, too. sooner or later, so would the kids
“so your sister had cancer? and she died?” -classmate
“…yes” -you
“that sucks” -classmate
you were definitely a rebel.
some blamed your “acting out” on the divorce, or the move, or losing sarah, but anyone who knew anything knew you were just jim hopper’s kid
“they’re trouble, just like their father” -anyone who knew jim as a teen
you were quite intimidating
you also inadvertently became popular in high school
“well, they’re dad is the chief of police, that means if we get into any trouble we’re golden!” -tommy h
“tommy, i hate you” -you
“yeah right! im your favorite person in the whole wide world” -tommy
“no, tommy, i mean it. if we get into any trouble im throwing you under the bus” -you
your dad taught you how to shoot a gun and defend yourself
and he’d take you camping in the woods in the summer
“how’s it going, kid? having fun?” -hopper
“you gave me a knife, of course im having fun” -you, carving up a chunk of wood
“that’s right, kid. proud of you” -hopper
he worried about you sometimes, looking back on everything he got away with as a kid
but he let go a bit just to let you live a little
you stole his cigarettes plenty of times
and his alcohol if he didn’t get to it first
he did hate your friends, though
“what’s up with you and all these preppy kids, y/n? really? aren’t they kind of assholes?” -hopper
“huge assholes. absolutely terrible. but they wont leave me alone, think im this super cool badass because im your kid, think i get away with everything” -you
“oh, so when i pull over one of these kids for drinking and driving while being underage, they think you’ll get them out of it?” -hopper
“that is correct” -you
“do they realize i’m probably gonna punish them harder?” -hopper
“no, but im counting on you to” -you
honestly you do share beers with him from time to time
not enough to get you drunk but enough to bond
hearing stories of his time at hawkins high
“then, and then—” -hopper, snorting laughter “me and joyce. you know joyce’s boy. jonathan byers’ mom. yeah, me and her were close back then! we revved up my car so hard that the principal ran outside to see what all the noise was and we ended up kicking back so much dirt…oh, man, there was so much dirt all over him and his stupid suit and his stupid glasses. he didn’t even go home, he stayed like that all day. me and joyce got detention for like, three weeks straight. ohhh, good times” -hopper
going out late to steve’s house nearly every weekend
and really showing off your teenage rebellion in his pool if you know what i mean
all in good fun
going to the station to help out when you could
flo thought you were an angel, callahan and powell always laughed at the remark
“y/n, how in the world did you convince that woman that you’re a saint?” -powell
“who says im not?” -you
“how many times have we had to give you a ride home after finding you stumbling down the street in the middle of the night? which of us is keeping score of that again?” -callahan
“that would be you, my friend” -powell
“hey, as long as i help her with paperwork and cleaning, i’m just the most selfless person on the face of the earth” -you
sooner or later that week that turned your life upside down came to be
when will byers went missing
you weren’t too worried until you found out what you were up against
but you weren’t much of a believer at first
but you were still highly sympathetic of jonathan’s situation to a certain extent
“hey, jonathan? i feel really shitty about everything you’re dealing with right now, man. i cant do much to help, but i’m here for you” -you
“uh, yeah, thanks. thank you, y/n” -jonathan
your friends didn’t bother making fun of you, they knew you’d tear them a new one over something like this
and you got a bit quiet as all of this went down
still went out with your friends, though
and sat with nancy at the pool to talk just a bit before barb disappeared, too
“i’m surprised you’re friends with them, honestly. i thought the chief’s kid would be more cautious and rule-abiding” -nancy
“then you got me all wrong, miss wheeler. rules are for suckers” -you, lighting a cigarette
“pass that this way, y/n” -steve
“get your own” -you
getting pretty freaked when barb went missing since you were the last to see her
steve begged you not to tell your dad
but you really weren’t having it
that’s when you started backing away from your shitty friend group, when nancy asked for your help
because no one believes kids, and you had all the resources she needed
“y/n, come on! we know you wanna hang this weekend, why are you being so difficult?” -steve
“difficult? difficult, steve? you’re kidding, right? all the messed up shit happening around here and you’re calling me difficult for showing caution, concern?” -you
“yeah, i am! since when are you cautious? i’m starting to think you don’t like us anymore” -steve
“i don’t! you’re all assholes who care more about your social self-preservation than the real lives that are at stake! when barb and will are back home safe, maybe i’ll consider a friendship with you, but until then? stay the fuck out of my way” -you
that really struck a chord with steve
but not quite on time considering he resorted to vandalism and picking fights with your crew
“oh, if it isn’t the junior chief. what are you gonna do, cuff us?” -tommy h
“grow the hell up” -you
“surprised you wound up with these two, y/n. they dont seem like your type of people” -steve
“and you are?” -you
after the fight, you got dragged back to the station with powell and callahan
and flo was DEVASTATED you could have been a part of that
“what were you thinking, y/n? these kids, they must be crazy. fights? weapons? you’re just a teenager, you shouldn’t be apart of that. especially with your father around. and what if you were the next to go missing?” -flo
“i promise you, flo, it was just the wrong place at the wrong time. i was trying to make sure they didn’t kill each other. things have been tense in the past week” -you
“oh, i know. you’re a good kid, sweetie” -flo
callahan and powell did have to question you to see what was going on, but they knew you were no snitch
“alright, y/n. go sit in your dad’s office. soon as he gets here, i’m sure he’d love to talk to you” -powell
hopper found you at his desk with your feet kicked up, and from there you hit him with everything you knew so far
“don’t tell me you actually believe all this shit” -hopper
“wish i could tell you i was kidding. but it’s just not adding up. i’ve got a really bad feeling” -you
it was a similar feeling to the weeks before your sister got sick and passed
and you were one of the most level-headed teens to walk the earth, you heard reason and scoffed at anything that fell outside of your bounds
soon after you and your dad were on the same page, he said to you
“think you can stay with a friend for a few days?” -hopper
you soon discovered why when you came home to grab some clothes and found your trailer turned upside down
which made you think this ran even deeper that you previously thought
aaaand eventually this led up to the middle school with a bunch of kids you didn’t know, a few teens you did, and the only adults you trusted
“eleven? hey, kid, you need anything?” -you
“so chief hopper’s kid, who just happens to be the biggest skeptic and irresponsible teen in hawkins, is on the same page as the rest of us now?” -dustin
“i mean, i guess so. theyre here arent they?” -lucas
“who says i’m skeptic and irresponsible?” -you, from behind
“w-what? no, we didn’t say that. i mean—we don’t believe that” -mike
“i’m just playing with you” -you, shaking two of them by the shoulders
your dad came up to you and handed you a revolver and some extra rounds
“you. you are in charge of these kids. you are to keep them safe and use this if absolutely necessary. i’m trusting you” -hopper
“why are you speaking to me like i’m a child?” -you
“because you are one” -hopper
“i know all about gun safety if that’s what you’re worried about” -you
“i’m worried about you and these kids and the monsters that are after you” -hopper
“think i’m not just as worried about you and joyce?” -you
“heh, that’s cute. behave yourself.” -hopper
“yes, sir” -you, sarcastically saluting
it didn’t take long for you and your crew to high tail it to the byers’ residence and make good with your own mission
it was a dumb idea, but so was staying at the school
and while you were preparing for a fight, steve started banging on the door
“steve?” -you
“y/n?” -steve
“get the hell out!” -you
“why do you have a gun?!” -steve
“do you want to find out?!” -you
nancy helped him with that part, pulling her own on him
it was funny (and invigorating) ((you’re a little wacky))
but it was too late and steve decided to join in on the action in some sort of offering of peace
*loud overlapping screaming*
“what…” *pant* “the hell…” *pant* “was that..?” -steve
“…are you insane?!” -you
“what?! what did i do?!” -steve
“you almost got yourself killed!” -you
“it’s okay, y/n…it’s over for now…we’re all okay” -jonathan
“this isn’t over, steve. the hell is wrong with you?” -you
“i was just trying to help, y/n. at least i know you still care” -steve
“i will shoot you if you try any shit like that again” -you
“maybe we should take the gun from them” -nancy
“you want to risk it when they’re this worked up?” -jonathan
you all shouted/talked it out and calmed down and headed back for the middle school together
which was a complete shitshow and you knew your dad would be pissed
but he hugged you and told you that he was proud of you
“give me back my gun” -hopper
you all hung out in the hospital waiting for will to wake up
and the kids huddled around you to ask about the demogorgon
“did you see it? did you shoot it? we saw it! and el completely destroyed it!” -lucas
“yeah, it was badass!” -dustin
“can you teach us how to shoot?” -lucas
“no” -you
you had to meet with a handful of government officials over all you’d just become aware of
mouths? sealed shut
you became closer with the people you almost died with, took special care with the kids
and eventually discovered el was still alive
“what do you say we move into grandpa’s old cabin?” -hopper

It’s the fact that this whole plot point could be turned into something soooo much more complex so easily if you were to really utilize Ray and Drex’s characters to their full extent. And this doesn’t mean that I’m disappointed with how they use these characters now (although I kinda am but for a number of reasons) and I don’t blame the show because it’s ultimately comedic and it has a different purpose, but the content is there and there’s so much potential.
We all know Ray’s ideal type, shown in a lot of different instances in the show: blonde, skinny women, often ditzy sure, models, but the one bit that surpasses everything is when they’re moms (I’ve actually written something separate on his mom obsession so lmk if you guys would like to hear about that sometime). It’s so common that it’s the first thing to come to mind when thinking about Ray’s interests. Now here’s the thing, Ray is shown to have such a “true connection” with Credenza, so much so that she seems to be portrayed as his perfect woman, beyond Henry’s mom even. They have random things in common that are stressed like they’re soulmates (idk if anyone likes this relationship, I personally hate the idea of Ray in a relationship), and she’s a mom.
Do you think they’d be together if she wasn’t a mom? It’s stressed so much as a clear bottom line to keep Ray’s interest for a number of reasons (again, I have written on this and i would love to fix up the work and post it if there’s interest). I do not believe that he would want this relationship if she wasn’t, just due to the basis of that being such an integral part of his character.
I bet you’re wondering how this plays into Drex at all, and this is where the potential gets truly astounding. Drex, all his life, has been led by revenge. He wants to prove himself, he wanted to take over as Captain Man and be better, better than Ray, to prove that he can. He wants to, and yet he never has. Time and time again he’s failed to do the one thing he wants; he just keeps losing.
But this here is new.
You see there a specific factor that now applies a new layer to this. Drex is the person who made Credenza a mother. He is the reason that she is Ray’s perfect woman. And that? That’s a win. No matter what he does, Drex has that. He won. And he didn’t even know that he’d done it.
I’d just like the see the absolute hatred in Ray’s entire being and, in turn, the feeling of victory and smugness that it brings forth in Drex. I want him to point out that Ray’s “perfect woman” liked him first. and I don’t mean this in some stupid fighting for her affections thing which I’m really really hoping the episode won’t do. Because it’s not about Credenza, and it’s not even about Buddy. It’s about Drex and Ray. It’s about the way Drex’s only romantic love interest in the whole show happens to be Ray’s perfect woman. It’s about how Drex modeled his only relationship (if it was even a relationship) after the interests of his father figure. Just for once, I want this show to go a little deeper than surface level jokes, it’s my one big wish before the show is over forever 😭🙏

Until My Hands Can’t Write and My Lungs Collapse
Tumblr media
Sometimes I hate dating a famous guy.
And it’s not because he’s gone. Not because he’s egotistical (he far from that), or because he’s dabbled in drugs, or is chased by young girls all the time, but it’s when you get insecure, and remember all the stunningly beautiful woman he dated and realize your nothing like them and will never be. You’re not tall, skinny, and gorgeous. Sure you might be nice like they are, but you’re not them, not by a long shot.
So as tears falling from my eyes onto the pillowcase as I stared at younger versions of Alex standing next to his past lovers I couldn’t help but feel worthless. Why would he chose me over very other woman that would have willingly done what I’ve done for him? I’m just some French history teacher who’s short and stout, that loves to play chess and has read an astronomical amount of books. I’m not special. I’m not cool. I’m not pretty. I’m average. I’m basic, like and NPC that’s just there to get the story rolling. If he didn’t like me he’d tell me right? Or would he just take pity on me and try to be nice? What if I’m hurting him? What if he could be so much happier if I was gone? Would he thrive? Would his life be better?
I felt awful. We were best friends before any of this happened and I couldn’t lose him, but I couldn’t hurt him either. I’d much rather take myself out of the equation that watch him become bored and feel that ‘loving’ me was more of job than something he just wanted to do.
I heard the door creek. And immediately I closed my phone and held the covers close to my face and pretended to sleep to explain my red eyes and maybe the wetness for sweat.
“Darling?” He questioned his voice flowing through the house like a desperate search.
I heard his light footsteps slowly approaching the door and when he opened he started to speak.
“Love?” He whispered into the room.
I think in this moment he realized I was ‘sleeping’ and he softly shut the door behind himself and I felt the weight in the bed shift as the part next to me sunk. He pulled my phone away from me and when I heard the sound of an object hitting wood, I could assume he had set it on the nightstand. I felt his arms gently pull me closer to him and I stirred a bit and to really sell it, in my cracking voice I asked,
“Alex?”
He kissed my forehead and spoken himself, “Sorry for waking you, darling.” He squeezed me tightly again peppering my head with kisses before laying his head on mine.
Suddenly I couldn’t fight back the tears anymore. They wouldn’t stop and my breath became on easy and before I knew it I was choking on my sobs.
“Hey, hey, is everything alright? Bad dream? Tired? Are you in pain?” His urgency and concern laced his voice and made it very prominent he was a little scared.
I pulled back and looked into his eyes wanting nothing more than to kiss him and not feel this way but my mind wouldn’t allow it. It would not shut up for even a second, to the point that it’s questioning whether or not his love for me was fraudulent.
“Why do you love me? I mean, you could have almost anyone in the world. You’ve dated gorgeous models who are so kind and sweet and you could have that, why would you want me? I’m not special or cool, or gorgeous, and you can’t flaunt me everywhere because of my job so why out of any girl in the world would you choose me?” I questioned as his thumbs wiped away my tears that continued to fall down my cheeks.
“Because there’s no girl more beautiful, kind, caring, intelligent, and perfect than you. And I know that’s so cliché and stupid but I truly mean it. From the darkest depth of my heart that seems as though they have no love in them I mean it. You aren’t a model, but I don’t care about that. I wouldn’t care if I had to cross seas just to see you, or if you were an astronaut, or a model, I would still love you the same. Maybe I’d think you were a bit cooler for being all the way up in space but i wouldn’t be able to kiss you and hug you all the time which would be a downer. But, my love if I had to see every girl in the planet and chose which one to love until I’d die, by a long shot I’d chose you. If younger me knew you he wouldn’t have met any models. He would’ve had heart eyes and he’d worship the ground you’d walk on like I do now and he’d never even think about looking at a model. You’re perfect for me. And every girl that came before you would agree with me on everything I’ve said about you. I will love you when I’m dead and I will love you long after. And I would never lie about something like that. If I wasn’t in love with you I’d tell you. But I’m on the other end of that spectrum. I like having a short history teacher from France that will gush about book for hours with me and will nerd over Nabokov as much as I do. I wouldn’t change it for the world. You know how much I write about you. Small lyrics, poems, letters, songs, a whole album! Y/n I am madly in love with you, I don’t know enough words to describe it perfectly so I will do my half arsed version for you until my hands can’t write and my lungs collapse. You are everything I want and more. Three years isn’t enough, an entire lifetime even would never be enough. And even if you one day would find yourself falling out of love with me I could never stop loving you. If I were to die now I’ve lived a life knowing I’ve met the best person on earth and I’d pass with a smile on my face they could never wipe off. I’d be at peace. And if you were there too I’d be over the moon. I love you so fucking much it’s sickening to others, and if I didn’t know you personally they’d think I was some creepy stalker. You will always be my love, Y/n. And that will never, and I mean never change.”
I smiled and tears still fell. I giggled a bit and his face turned into a smile so glad I understood.
“Can I please kiss you?” He begged making sure I was okay and didn’t need a moment before he stole my breath away.
“Always.” I nodded.
He swooped his head down and locked his lips with mine gently. His lips expressed so much passion and love they screamed at me to understand his love for me.
When he pulled away I looked into his eyes again the worry in his eyes faded and now filled with happiness and the love he will always have.
“I love you, that sounds lame now.” I giggled.
“It’ll never be lame to me, darling. I love you too.”

Meg March: The Nurturer
Every time I reread Little Women, I find Meg March more relatable. This isn't because I am a wife or have kids but because I think Meg represents issues all women face and her story has only gotten more relevant since the book was released.
Meg gets three chapters focusing on her struggles: “Meg Goes to Vanity Fair” in Part I and “Domestic Experiences” and “On the Shelf” in Part II. “Meg Goes to Vanity Fair” appears in most adaptations and involves Meg going to visit rich friends for a fortnight and getting her head turned by luxuries the Marches can't afford. The other most commonly adapted scene is one from “Domestic Experiences” where Meg buys $50 of silk that she and her husband can't afford.
Even in the novel, I’m not fond of this scene because it doesn't do anything to give us any new insights into Meg that we didn't already get in “Meg Goes to Vanity Fair.” Going off these two scenes, it seems like her main struggle is that she hates being poor, but I think a fuller picture starts to form when you look at all the Meg-focused chapters together.
“Domestic Experiences” starts with the lines, “Like most other young matrons, Meg began her married life with the determination to be a model housekeeper. John should find home a paradise; he should always see a smiling face, should fare sumptuously every day, and never know the loss of a button.” It's clear that Meg has some decided ideas on what a proper wife should be, and those ideas leave very little wiggle room for the mistakes and accidents that are part of everyone's life. Meg even tells John he should feel free to bring a guest home for dinner without sending word home to her first!
One day, Meg is trying to outfit her house with homemade preserves. Try as she might, the jelly won't jell. She and John have promised not to go home to ask advice for every small trouble, so Meg goes it alone until she is so frustrated that she sits right down on the kitchen floor and starts sobbing.
To make matters worse, John forgets that today is the day Meg is working on the jelly and invites a friend over for dinner. He is not met, as usual, by a smiling wife but instead finds a house devoid of life until he finds Meg still crying in the kitchen. John is so worried that she has been seriously injured or received terrible news that when Meg tells him what really happened, he laughs with relief, tells her not to worry about the jelly, and that he and his friend don't need a fancy dinner, just some cold meat, bread, and cheese will do.
Alas, in the 1860s, the charcuterie did not have the same air of sophistication it enjoys today! Meg is horrified at the idea of treating a guest in her home to a meal like that and hurt by how lightly John seems to be treating the matter. She lashes out, which leads to the couple’s first fight. Eventually they are able to reconcile and their marriage is made stronger in the mending.
The scene from “On the Shelf” features some very similar circumstances, this time pertaining to motherhood. When Meg gives birth to twins Demi and Daisy, she becomes completely absorbed in motherhood, spending all her time with her children and thinking about little else. She even refuses to let John in the nursery and tries to do everything on her own.
As a result, John begins to feel like an interloper in his own home and starts spending more time away from it. Meg is extremely worn out and feels neglected, imagining that the changes in her household are a result of her becoming unattractive and John losing interest in her.
Fortunately, Meg gets some excellent advice from Marmee: Practice self-care, give the kids to a sitter sometimes so she and John can go on dates and have adult conversations and interests, and let John help out with the babies. The advice works and peace is once again restored.
When viewed together, we see Meg’s trouble isn't so much a love of luxury as it is perfectionism and a tendency to put too much stock in the voices telling her what it means to be a good woman, a good wife, and a good mother. Now, isn't that relatable? What woman hasn't felt like they were simultaneously too much and not enough? Who hasn't compared the shiny pictures of our friends’ lives that we see on social media to the less than perfect parts of our life that don't get posted on Instagram?
If Meg was alive today, I think she would get really into mommy blogs telling her that she needs to make her own baby food from scratch if she wants to give her children the best life possible. She would watch Marie Kondo videos on YouTube and cry because her living room often looks like a disaster zone after her two toddlers are done with it.
This was what I tried to bring to the adulthood character role I based on Meg, the Nurturer. I didn't want a role that implied that becoming a homemaker is settling because I think that Meg legitimately loves her life and being a stay-at-home spouse or parent is just as valid a choice as becoming celebrated for a career.
Instead, what I tried to do was take the cares and the joys of Meg March and turn them into something that would be fun and compelling to play. The main points I wanted to focus on were the amount of unsolicited advice that homemakers commonly get and the perfectionism and fear of failure that often lead to burnout.
The positive conditions for the Nurturer involve receiving love and support from your family and being seen as a model for perfect home management. The negative conditions are about being completely worn out and being the subject of your neighbor’s criticisms. I'm very proud of the role I was able to create, and I think it's a good example of a type of character you can play that will feel very different from one you might make in Good Society. I hope that you will enjoy playing as the Nurturer, too.
This is part of a series on the literary inspirations behind game elements for my upcoming tabletop RPG based on the novels of Louisa May Alcott and L.M. Montgomery, Castles in the Air. The Magic of Modeling
How is it already the second to last day of Chubtober!? I can’t believe it’s almost over.
Today’s prompt is Enchanted from fatguarddog’s list and there is a little cameo from my favorite gal.
Read here or on AO3!
—-
Taehyung wasn’t even sure how it was brought up. They were all talking about Jimin’s latest fashion show and then somehow, they were talking about Taehyung’s modeling ability.
While he was incredibly handsome and his partners never failed to tell him that, Taehyung knew he was not the model type.
He had been chubby his entire life and he really enjoyed that about himself. Taehyung loved food, loved his soft belly, and loved his wide thighs. He was the perfect cuddler and his lap was the best seat for his partners.
Taehyung knew it was partially a lie as he said it, but it didn’t stop him from setting up what eventually would become a months long endeavor.
“I could definitely model.”
His partners seemed to fall silent, figuring out how to respond to him lightly until Yoongi took the burden on himself.
“Tae, you know I’m saying this with all my love and respect for you with no judgment, but we both know that’s not really true. The industry sucks and you would have to lose weight to be taken seriously.”
Taehyung knew Yoongi was right, unfortunate as the truth was, but he also didn’t want that to stop him. It somehow became a challenge for himself - a fixation to figure out how he could pull it off.
He didn’t feel that he needed to prove them wrong necessarily because they loved and supported him, enjoying his body and hyping up his look, but it almost was like proving the industry as a whole wrong. An unknown sleight of his own hand.
It started with a lot of research for Taehyung to figure out how he could be chubby…maybe fat if he were to be honest with himself and enter the modeling world.
That is when Taehyung remembered Hwasa, the granddaughter of his grandmother’s best friend.
They had been childhood friends and he trusted her to come up with a solution considering that she descended from a long line of witches.
Taehyung certainly wasn’t going to attempt losing the weight first because he would never give into the toxic industry and he honestly just didn’t have the willpower to do it.
After looking up types of charms and spells, Taehyung found a variation on a Cinderella-esque magical effect that could allow him to have the best of both worlds.
It would allow Taehyung’s true form to be as fat and happy as he wanted while also shifting into the “ideal” frame for male modeling.
He could maintain the perfect model image during certain hours of the day before returning home to indulge in his favorite meals and couch cuddles.
After meeting up at Hwasa’s shop and explaining his findings, she looked at him with a mix of amusement and disbelief.
“You’re serious about this?”
“Of course, I told you, I need to make this point. I have to prove them wrong.”
“But they aren’t discouraging you, it’s just realistic.”
“Fine, then I need to prove the industry wrong.”
“By finding a loophole to still have the body type they require and no one knowing.”
“I will know! That’s the point!”
“God, you are so dumb…”
“So, you’re not going to do it?”
“What? Of course I’m going to do it, sit down.”
In a matter of hours, Taehyung was looking a completely different version of himself in the mirror. He couldn’t remember a time that his jaw had such a sharp line or ever having definition on his abdomen.
Honestly, Taehyung hated it. It felt and looked wrong, like everything that made him Taehyung was gone - way too small and cold.
“Man, you look hot as hell, models should consider themselves lucky that you love food so much, but it also just looks so off. You sure about this?”
Hwasa’s voice startled Taehyung and he nodded. He couldn’t agree more that it was not the look for him, however, he knew that he could easily sell the model look long enough to make his point.
“Yeah, I just need to do this until I can book a project and then be done with it.”
“Let me help with that. I’ve got some contacts in the industry. You aren’t the only one who uses magic to cut corners.”
Taehyung managed to hide his little secret from his partners, not utilizing Hwasa’s perfect charm until she sent him the details for a shoot.
Showing up to the set gave him a lot of insight to Jin and Jimin’s experiences, Taehyung making a mental note to check in on them both considering how uptight and brutally honest everyone was.
He truly had a terrible time and was happy that he hadn’t changed his life and body to work toward this. Although, he did accept a few more shoots since Hwasa went through so much to help him.
However, Taehyung did draw the line at a certain point.
“Maybe we can get you a partner shoot with someone. One last project because we call it.”
“Woah, I’m trying to prove myself, not get in trouble. No partners besides my own.”
“I don’t understand you, Tae, but somehow, I respect you.”
What Hwasa didn’t tell him was that she did find him a partner shoot that did follow his rules.
When Taehyung showed up the following week on set looking trim and toned, the last person he expected to see was Park Jimin.
It took everything for him not to run in the other direction, wanting his plan to be a big reveal once his photos were published.
Jimin turns to greet his model counterpart, eyes widening as he immediately recognizes a version of his partner that he’s never seen before.
“T-Tae…”
“Minnie, I can explain.”
“You better fucking explain! What did you do to yourself? Did you hurt yourself? Why-“
“Jimin-ah, please, let’s talk in private.”
After explaining his entire plan and the fact that it wasn’t permanent, Taehyung saw the relief form on Jimin’s face.
Showering him in kisses and gentle touches, Jimin explained how scared he was that Taehyung did something dangerous and how happy he was to know that his soft and warm Tae was still underneath the magic.
They did the shoot together perfectly, chemistry and intimacy flowing naturally between loving partners.
Jimin stole a few shots from his team to take home as proof, changing his tune as soon as they were in the car together.
Taehyung knew he was in for it based on Jimin’s adamance that he told the entire story to their partners that night.
He could barely get the words out before the scolding began, telling him it was a reckless decision for such a silly reason.
Also, Namjoon and Hoseok both lectured him, frustrated and concerned that he would look elsewhere for magic knowing that he had two perfectly capable magic users in the house.
Taehyung reasoned that it would ruin the surprise and used his photos with Jimin as proof, finding that the impressive shots silenced his berating partners who could see the appeal.
What Taehyung had not expected was for his popularity as a model to take off. His shoot with Jimin went viral and he was getting offers for more and more work.
Tae tried so hard not to be smug about it because he knows he's hot shit and in his mind, this was proving to everyone that he could have both - being fat and a top model.
Part of him was discouraged that he couldn’t just be himself though. The only reason he was not on the front page of Vogue as his true self was because the industry decisions makers were cowards.
With Jimin becoming his never ending hypeman, complimenting his modeling but never shutting about how hot he was at his actual size, Taehyung found it easier to continue.
He introduced Namjoon, Hoseok, and Hwasa who were able to maintain his secret charm, allowing him to have the best of both worlds throughout his career.
His partners would admit to having a weird satisfaction watching him grow to his normal size as Taehyung was completely transparent with them on his arrangement now.
However, they weren’t the only ones who couldn’t keep their eyes off Taehyung. He became an enigma of the modeling industry.
The man landing covers and centerfolds with Park Jimin and Kim Seokjin on his arms that also had a cheeseburger and a milkshake for lunch on set while the other models ate their salads and drank their green juice.
Taehyung never told anyone aside from his loving partners and closest friend ever learned of his perfectly enchanted weight - the key to his happiness and success.
And maybe his happiness grew a little more knowing that Taehyung had convinced Jin and Jimin to loosen up and relax, maybe sharing the love of his little charm and big appetite with his partners over the years.
No one had to know that the most successful trio of models in Korea looked much softer behind closed doors.

Oooo hey gravity falls fan!
Do you have any headcanons about any characters? I would love to know!
i am in fact a gravity falls fan!! i don’t have much art for them up on here but i do have a good few drawings on my instagram!
i made a headcanons note maybe a year ago that i never actually shared anywhere, so here’s that :)
stanley pines
- aromantic
- pronouns: he/him
- hates french people (is it a joke? we don’t know)
- has periodic nightmares
- has adhd
- prefers dogs
- atheist. bc of the trauma
- very dangerous driver. in addition to breaking like every law ever he has horrible tunnel vision. very bad at paying attention to his surroundings and often spaces out on the most insignificant objects and ends up almost crashing (or actually crashing)
- like mabel, he used to always lose to stanford in logic based games like checkers and chess. unlike mabel, he always beat stanford at ping pong and feels very happy for himself for it. (part of this is because stanford’s motor skills as a child/teenager were awful.)
stanford pines
- gay asexual
- pronouns: he/him
- has periodic nightmares
- is autistic
- played piano as a child
- struggled with self-harm as a teenager
- forgets basic life functions (e.g. sleeping and eating)
- prefers cats
- ngl ford gives asthma vibes LMAO like my man has horrible lungs
- nervous breakdowns. fiddleford calms him down by taking ford’s wrists in his hands
- agnostic only because the idea of punching god in the face gives him catharsis. still celebrates jewish holidays with stan & the kids
- even worse driver than stan. somehow. every bit of unexpressed anger he has gets expressed when he drives. wants every other car on the road to drop off the face of the earth. unhinged man that then turns around and says “what. i’m not a bad driver.” during the portal years fiddleford demands control of the car during trips.
- yeah he gets bullied as a kid for his fingers but he also gets bullied for EVERY autistic trait/symptom/display he has. it’s true he told me so
fiddleford mcgucket (1982)
- biromantic heterosexual* (see footnote. please.)
- pronouns: any
- likes to grow plants - idea credit to the fic ‘not one to forget’ on ao3! read it if u haven’t, you will have no regrets
- prefers neither dogs nor cats, likes other random animals better (cough. raccoons. cough)
- has to remind stanford to perform his basic life functions
- my mcgucket backupsmore headcanon is that he was shooting for a scholarship (or something similar to what stanford was going for) for a slightly less prestigious school than WCT and then when he showed his project to the scout people and it like blew up and hit one of them in the face and so needless to say they did not accept him
- he hates being called stupid more than anything
- he has anxiety. and yes that’s also pre-and-during-portal-years. the guy is nervous about everything. he nervous stims. chews his nails pulls at his hair shaking hands and legs the whole deal
- he doesn’t really talk about it either. he marinates. he marinates and ford developed a sense for it
- raised christian, really not that into it. has more important things to do
mabel pines
- sexuality: pansexual, or omnisexual. haven’t made up my mind yet but she’s definitely mspec!
- pronouns: she/her
- is she cis or trans?? who knows i can’t decide
- absolutely was into loom bracelets when they were popular
- also silly bandz
- 5’8” when she’s grown up. dipper is 5’7”.
- she collects squishmallows and/or beanie babies. they all have names. they take up half of her bed.
i have like nothing for dipper besides the classic transhet headcanon & him being shorter than mabel 😭 mystery trio phase hit me real hard ok
* don’t use this post for discourse. “bUt ThE SpLiT aTtRaCtIOn mOdEL iS onLy FoR aSpEc PeOpLe” too bad. i’m aroace and i say it’s *fine* who *cares*

you and your boyfriend were at the mall, on a date. you both hadn’t seen eachother for a while because of your work studies so as soon as you two got back from them, you planned a date.
“baby i need to go to the bathroom, wait for me out here okay?” you untangled your fingers from his and went inside the ladies room. after u done ur business in there (not writing that out 😨), you went out to wash your hands. you turned on the water, soapy fingers getting rinsed. you then dried your hands, quickly fixing your hair and your clothes wanting to look your best for your lover. walking out you heard his voice,
“ahaha thank you i’m flattered but i’ve really gotta get goi-“
“woah your hair is so soft !!”
you looked over at the girl giggling at kaminari, YOUR kaminari. your insides cringed at the way she was looking at him, the way she giggled and twirled her hair.
you hated it.
but ur social anxiety could never 😂😂😂, so you said nothing. it didn’t help that she looked like a model for vogue. she had this medium length light brown hair, curtain bangs framing her face with blue eyes to go with it. her eyelashes were long and pretty, her skirt reaching her mid thigh. she was stunning. and something inside of you made you uneasy, it was nagging at you about how much better she would be with him, how much better they look together then you two do. your insecurities getting the better of you. so much so you didn’t notice kaminari trying to get your attention.
“y/n? baby are u okay?” he knew something was wrong, but you didn’t want to admit to anything. so you put on your best fake smile and looked at him, “yeah sorry i just spaced out for a little, don’t worry about me it’s okay”. the look on his face didn’t change, he knew you weren’t  okay but he stayed quiet, not wanting to make a scene.
you two got back to the dorms about an hour later, that girl still lingering in your mind. after a couple of seconds you found yourself tearing up, wiping your tears so kaminari wouldn’t notice but it was too late.
“what’s wrong?” he asked, worried tone slipping off his tongue. “nothing it’s fine don’t worry” you put on a fake smile, hoping he wouldn’t see through you.
“hey.”
his voice was stern, yet still soft. he cupped your cheeks to insure you wouldn’t look away from him.
“nothing that makes u sad is ‘fine’ to me, and it shouldn’t be to you either.”
as soon as he said that the tears came back. you let them out this time, avoiding his eyes.
“now wanna tell me what’s making my girl cry?”
you really didn’t want to say anything, scared he would call you irritating for it, but you did. even if you were speaking softly, he heard every word you said clearly. you told him about the girl and how you didn’t like the way she looked at him, how much prettier u thought she was, how u think he would look better with someone like her than with someone like you, how your scared he’s gonna leave u some day for a girl like that.
his eyebrows furrowed at this, you shut your eyes tight, bracing yourself for the insults about to come your way, until you felt yourself being pulled into his embrace.
“listen to me and listen closely. that girl is a nobody to me, your the only girl i have eyes for baby, and you’re beautiful. i love everything about you. i wouldn’t ever leave you for anyone else. your the only one for me and i never want to lose you, i love you so much y/n, i’m sorry you were feeling this way.”
this made your heart flutter, your shoulders weren’t so tense anymore. you were relieved to hear that. his head was buried into the crook of your neck, kissing it and muttering a praise after each one, he was being genuine. so you felt better.
“i love you too, i’m sorry”
“nothing to apologize for”

I want to know what was the rise gang reaction to them choosing to have kids or even meeting them? I feel like Donnie will make some crazy stuff for the kid ,only for it to go haywire.(smart lair and smart bed reference)
When they announced that they were going to have a kid the family was shocked. Leo and Usagi didn’t tell anyone that they were thinking about it. Usagi wanted to make sure they had a plan before telling anyone. So the only person who knew that they were thinking about it was Draxum. They only told the others once Jotaro was already conceived. This means the time period between: my brother might have kids, my brothers going to have a kid, crap my brother has a kid I’m and uncle/aunt was very short.
Raph
He was initially in shock but quickly became very excited. Leo and Usagi are a great couple and having little ones run around will be awesome.
He is a big nester. Knitting and crocheting baby blankets, hats, mittens, booties, stuffies, anything he can think of they baby has it.
He is a little worried about his track record. As much as he claims animals love him most small things attack him or are scared of him and he’s terrified that Leo’s kid is going to hate him.
When they first have Jotaro the parents spend some time alone with the infant before inviting the family in one at a time. They don’t want to overwhelm the kid or themselves with all the people and all the hands. Splinter gets to meet him first but Raph is second.
He comes in and immediately love Jotaro. The boy is just so small and cute. He is terrified to hold him. He is so much bigger then the baby but Leo gently places the boy in his brothers arms. Raph thinks the kids going to start screaming. He had cried when Splinter held him. But Jotaro scrunches up his nose, the whole room tenses waiting for a cry, then he yawns and snuggles into Raph’s hold.
Raph cry’s. Jotaro likes him. Leo and Usagi ask him to be godfather and he’s crying more because he’s he will absolutely. Look at him Leo he’s so small.
Donnie
His twin is going to be a dad. Baby is eminent. How did this happen? They are not ready for a baby in the family?
Donnie starts building everything under the sun. Why would you want a simple bassinet when you can have the Donnie Crib tm.
He tried to make things automatic and helpful. Changing stations, feeding stations, bathing tools, everything he can think of.
But alas it’s all in beta. Which means when he shows it to the parents to be there are a lot of explosions.
Usagi is very freaked out. He knows Donnie’s a genius and he build things Usagi could never dream of. He trust Donnie with his life. With his husband life. But if you think for one moment he is putting his baby boy in any of those death machines you’re insane.
It does start a fight between the parents to be. Usagi just wants Donnie to stop. He’s stressed out about the baby coming and making sure his family is safe and bringing any of these machines into their home is stressing him out even more.
Leo understands. He does. He’s just as stressed as Usagi is by these machines. But he grew up with Donnie. He knows it takes a few times before Donnie gets his invention right and he is trying to be patient. He knows this is Donnie’s way of loving them and their son. And he tries to explain that to Usagi. Usagi does listen for the most part.
It comes to a head when Donnie is showing off Donnie Crib 3.0 and it blows up starting a small fire. Usagi loses it. He loves Donnie, how could he not he’s Leo’s twin and Usagi worked so hard for his approval, but this is to much. Snaps at Donnie, no more they don’t need any of his machine killing their child.
It’s harsh. Usagi’s tired and Jotaro is about to be born and he just watched a model baby melt in a crib on fire. It’s a lot. But he really hurts Donnie’s feelings
Leo portals them home and they get into a fight over it. Emotions are high and they both know Jotaro’s here and their Botha so excited but so scared and everyone has been in their business about it. It’s been a lot and the crib on fire was the straw that broke their backs.
As mad as they are they both take a moment to calm down before the sit down and talk it out. They are not going to let this fester. They talk out all of the stress they are under and come out stronger then before.
The next day Usagi goes over to apologize to Donnie. He knows Donnie would never hurt them and he said things he didn’t mean. It’s a hard conversation but a good one. They agree to keep the initial nursery simple. Donnie didn’t have a lot of warning about this kid so he’s been scrambling to build stuff. This will give Donnie time to perfect his presents without rushing. As he finalizes projects they can replace the old stuff. This gives Usagi peace, as they still need to set up the nursery as they had been waiting on donnie, and it give donnie reassurance that his family still wants his help he just needs to take his time with it. There are still hurt feelings but it’s a lot better.
Mikey
the most excited uncle.
He paints the nursery. It looks like a misty mountain and forest scene. He does all the other kids bedrooms as well when they come.
Tells anyone who will listen he’s going to be and uncle soon.
He meal preps for Leo and Usagi. When they first bring Jotaro home he’s going to take up most of their time and Mikey knows this is one thing he can take off of their plates.
April
So excited.
She’s a little mad/ freaked out her little brother beat her in having kids. But that quickly leaves as she is just so excited.
This is the family’s first baby. She helps prepare their home for the baby. Helping baby proof things and set up what they can.
She tries to talk Donnie out of some of his projects. She thinks he should pick one and work on it till it’s perfect rather then spreading himself out. But as we know he didn’t listen.
Absolutely goes baby clothes shopping. She and Leo have a blast picking out all these cute little outfits for Jotaro. She does it for every kid that the family has.
