OK heres zeno coloring tutorial 2.0 !!!! i'm gonna do it kind of in chapters i guess?

chapter 1: choosing base colors

when i'm choosing base colors i always pick everything based on a specific off-white! my 'default' off-white is this kind of very light cyan color but i change it regularly based on character designs/environment/lighting whatever,, examples here!

for callie in this piece, i based everything off of this pinkish color! her skin tone, tentacles, outfit etc are all chosen to harmonise/contrast with the pink color

and with this piece, i used a slightly darker blueish color as they're in space but there's still a lot of light... and the lighter colors in the background (the explosion) make a sense of depth i guess? i used that blue color and chose similar cool colors to harmonise with it!

so i more or less base the tone of the colors in the piece off the off-white! warm off-white = warmer colors (like the nova valentine's day art) and cold off white = cooler colors (like the explosion nova and paro art). but i switch up this formula often !!

chapter 2: coloring specific things

here i'll go over some specific textures and stuff like skin and hair ... skin first !!

for skin, i like to use a variety of tones! there are different ways to draw cooler and warmer skintones that other people have gone over way better than i have but basically for skin i use this part of the color wheel and pick the darker tones of oranges/reds/pinks etc. (for darker skintones, i go to the middle of the color square thingy, and for lighter tones, i usually slide down the upper-right side)

when it comes to shading skintones, it's pretty straightforward, just a darkish-purple and a pinkish color on 100% multiply, and i always add a little shadow on the nose and blush becuz i think it's cute

(also i like to add reflective spots on darker skin tones sometimes because 1. darker skin tones reflect in real life and 2. it's fun)

next up is hair... this is very specific to my artstyle but i like to add 3-6 long oval line thingies to the hair to mimic reflection ! it looks cool, it's a good way to show off different colors in the design and i like to switch it up sometimes based on a character's personality!! (like how the frye pic above has a lighting bolt shaped hair thing, or how my teto design has a wing shaped hair thing to mimic her wings in her chimera form!) (note: it doesn't always need to be lighter than the actually hair color and it usually isn't)

(also, just a general thing, but adding little saturated lines to shading really adds depth and color imo!!)

i would put more tips with refs but tumbles only allows 10 images per post ;w; so i will simply close off by saying don't be afraid to add overlays and filters to your art!! overlays can really help harmonise colors and filters like brightness and contrast can help colors pop... try not to completely rely on them for color choice tho!!

and that's basically it !!! this is not a definitive 'how to draw/color' post... i am not a color theorist... i just wanted to show people how i choose colors cuz a lot of people say they like my color choices! honestly i don't know much myself but i hope that this and the philosophy of 'do what looks good' will help you all o_ob thank you and goodbye

im rewatching she-ra and naturally im gonna want to write about it a lot. starting by breaking down the catradora conflict origin story scene from s01e02 the sword part 2

people have said this before but the most important thing to keep in mind here is how different their understanding of whats going on is. theyre both approaching this with completely different views and so they misunderstand what the other means.

Adora: There's no time. We have to put a stop this.

Catra: What? Why?

Adora: Because this is a civilian town. Look around! These aren't insurgents. They're innocent people.

Catra: Yeah, sure. Innocent people who kidnapped a Horde officer. Now come on, let's get you back to the Fright Zone. Shadow Weaver is freaking out. [laughing] It'd be funny if she weren't such a terrible person.

so immediately theres two things i wanna say about this part, about how catra reacts to stuff. first off, something we learn about catra throughout the whole show and especially in the portal-alternative-reality, is that shes big on Pretending Nothing Is Wrong. whenever shes feeling upset or angry about something, she will start joking around and acting like shes just totally super chill guys, dw ("Ugh, whatever. It's not like I even care. I just wanna get out of this dump at some point before I dieee of boredom). Shes acting like that in this scene. Adora was missing for hours, shadow weaver was breathing down her neck and threatening her, she was already worried adora might have left at this point. she cant let adora know how worried she was tho, so shes all jokes and fast paced conversation. To Adora, tho, it just looks like catra doesnt care, like she doesnt understand the gravity of the situation.

and the other thing is that honestly? I dont think catra does care. about the town, i mean. i think catra was ready for war in a way adora never was. theyre both seeing combat for the first time here, and adora hates it. training for war is completely different than being in the battlefield, and adora couldnt handle it. face to face with it she couldnt tolerate seeing people suffering and dying, houses being burned down, a whole village destroyed. when the horde brainwashed adora into thinking they were only doing the necessary to save etheria, she completely and fully believed it, and when faced with the reality of the horde she immediately realized how wrong that was. Catra, tho, could not care less. she never believed in what the horde said, she knew full well what the horde did, so this isnt a surprise for her. and i do think shes naturally a bit sadistic, or at least growing up among the violence of the horde made her so. either way, shes seeing battle here for the first time and shes completely fine with it. doesnt even spare it all a second glance. why would she care about these people she never met if the most important thing in the world is right here in front of her? (i think even if adora hadnt left that night and went into the battlefield as a force captain, she wouldve ended up deserting. she cant stand seeing people suffer and she cant stand not saving them. shes too good, too selfless for that. catra isnt.) (also she is so ready to kill at all times. she loves violence. i once saw someone say how shadow weaver thought adora was the "cutthroat, ruthless warrior" when that was actually catra and they were totally right)

adora is also trying something futile here, she doesnt need to explain to catra that the horde is bad and hurts innocent ppl because catra has known that all her life

Adora: Catra, no. I can't go back. Not until the Horde leaves this town alone. You have to help me.

Catra: What are you saying?

Adora: I’m saying, this is wrong. They've been lying to us, manipulating us. Hordak, Shadow Weaver, all of them.

Catra: Duh! Did ya just figure that out? Manipulation is Shadow Weaver's whole thing. She's been messing with our heads since we were kids.

(the captions in the pics are slightly wrong, nvm that.) everything i said before. adora just realized all of this, while catra has always known, probably because the abuse adora suffered was more manipulation-and-brainwashing, while shadow weaver always made clear to catra that she didnt give a shit about her, so she suffered physical abuse with little attempt to convince her this was fine.

the "what are you saying?" is one of the things that show how different their perspective is. adora is talking about going against the horde and helping the town, while catra immediately gets more personal. what do you mean? are you saying that you might leave the horde? leave me?

Adora: How could you possibly be okay with that?

adora means, how could you be ok with the horde lying about its actions, and killing innocent people? how could you be ok with the horde raising us to do the same? and catra hears, how could you be ok with shadow weaver and hordak abusing us?

Catra: Because, it doesn't matter what they do. The two of us look out for each other. And soon we'll be calling the shots. Now come on, can we go home already?

catra replies: because, i love you. because you have my back and i have yours. because nothing really bad can happen as long as we have each other, remember? and soon enough, we'll be powerful enough that they cant hurt us anymore. Adora hears, because i dont care about these people dying, the only thing thats important is you and i. and anyways, soon its gonna be Us killing them, isnt that good? lets go back home to the evil murder place.

Adora: I'm not going home, Catra. I can't. Not after everything I've seen. Come with me. You don't have to go back there. We can fix this.

adora says: im starting to realize now how wrong i was about everything. we're not the good guys, and i cant stand for that. i cant stand around and watch people get hurt. i cant stand around and watch you get hurt. lets leave, together, and have a better life, please. lets do the right thing.

Catra: Are you kidding? You've known these people for, what, a couple of hours? And now you're just gonna throw everything away for them?

catra hears, shes willing to leave me. after everything i did for her, all that i took, all of these years of us being together, she would still leave me. she would break our promise. she would leave me behind.

and then she straight up electrocutes adora. ok

she says it was a reflex, but i dont know if i believe her. i dont think she likes hurting adora (not physically. not by this point, anyways), but i do think that shes the type to lash out when upset and immediately regret it, then feel guily about it. which just makes her more upset. :(

Catra: Oh, man. That was a lot stronger than I thought. Are you okay?

Adora: Why are you doing this?

Catra: Because you left me! And if I don't bring you back, Shadow Weaver’s gonna have my head. So, enough with your weird little identity crisis and let's go home already. Or do I need to zap you again?

thats the last time they talk. adora gets teleported away by glimmer, and when they see each other again, its clear that they both made their choice.

the moment adora showed catra she was willing to leave her, there was no coming back for them. because catra would never get over that. she'd spend all her life in that hellscape, putting up with abuse and bullying and probably so much more we dont get to see, because of the promise adora made her. and, in her eyes, adora was ready to leave her on the first opportunity that came up. that hurt. that broke her. and that released something really ugly inside of her.

first attempt at crocheting the doctor!

(progress pics and thoughts under the cut)

I feel like overall, for a first attempt, I kinda killed it but I have many thoughts about what I wanna do better/different next time and uh imma just list them all here bc I want to kinda document my progress/ideas and this is the easiest way to do it..

I did the hair last and I'm tryna figure out if that was a mistake or not. bc while it's mostly pretty easy, it's very boring and I wanted to just speed through it to get her completed which resulted in me kinda speed cutting it and it ended up not looking That amazing. next time I'm defo gonna force myself to just be chill with it and take my time. I also think I need to space out rhe hair at a certain point bc it's very bulky and I didn't even completely fill in the back of the head

I think the shoes are different sizes which.. idk how or why. I guess I just didn't count right and apparently I'm blind bc I coulda sworn they were the same size when I compared them. Future me needs to count!!

The socks look decent from the front but they are literally chains wrapped around the leg and tied at the back so the back is... kinda a mess. Think I want to try and actually crochet the leg in sock colours next time instead of attaching it

The trousers are slightly big but they mostly work okay. Especially with the shirt tucked underneath and the suspenders kinda holding them. I think if I made them smaller there was a chance they'd be too small but I might try it next time just to test it

The suspenders are kinda good kinda meh. I kinda want to make them thicker than just a chain but I think it looks okay as they are, it's just attaching them better that I need to figure out bc it's a bit of a mess.

The tshirt is probs the worst thing going on here other than the hair bc obviously the stripes are shocking (which is all on me bc I winged it and honeslty it was going well at first but then bc of the way the stitches are at a certain point it got kinda fucked up). I think I'm gonna have to just try a couple of different things for the stripes and see what works best. atm I'm thinking I could just do a strand or two of yarn attached at each end of the shirt (or maybe wrapped the whole way round) rather than the weaving in and out that I did here

as for the actual t-shirt itself, it's far too big. the back of the shirt is pulled together to make it less baggy. I think I can just lessen the number of stitches in the tutorial I followed and it should hopefully be fine. might have to do a couple of attempts to really figure it out tho. I should also check the tutorial for the shirt that's actually for this doll bc the tutorial I folloeed was for a different doll which I'm sure didn't help (but the reason I ended up using a different onein the first place is bc the other tutorial for clothes that they had were just needlessly complicated so when I found a good trouser pattern I just stuck with them and did their shirt pattern too)

I like the idea of making the shirt so that it can be taken on and off and be switched with different shirts so that's something I also want to look into figuring out. And if I do that, I would need to make the arms of the doll white bc with 13's short sleeved shirts she always has a white long sleeve underneath and I wanna get it as accurate as I can

Currently I don't have plans to do a coat bc its jsut extra work I cba with (and also I prefer coatless 13 anyways) but at some point I might try and figure something out. Also might do the prison outfit at some point but it's not a priority rn

I think my next plan of action is to literally just make a new base doll (or two) and then start making pieces of clothes to put on them as practice. and I say or two bc if I make one shirt and attach it and then have ideas for making it better, I'll be able to just do that straight away bc I'll have a base doll ready yknow. I also bought a ball of yarn that I intend to use for a 15th doctor doll, but idk what outfit of his I wanna do yet. I'm thinking the organe one but the stripes on 13's shirt were a struggle so I feel like the stripes on 15's orange shirt will be a nightmare. we'll see I guess. will probs make the base doll soon

how to take screenshots using nvidia geforce experience

first off I wanna apologize for the image quality lol I had to use my phone to take a photo of my computer screen because taking screenshots would disable the GeForce Experience overlay. secondly, I’m gonna shorten it to GXP because I am Lazy.

anyways, here we go, all details under the cut so I don’t clutter anyone’s dashboard.

also I’m gonna assume you know how to pose your sim, use gshade, all that good stuff, cuz that’s not what I’m here for, there are plenty of other tutorials for those, love you tho.

so we wanna start off with pulling up the overlay with Alt + Z, and it’s gonna look like this:

so these are all the things you can go with GXP, take screenshots, record, etc. the overlay is mostly useful for pulling up the settings bc you can set keyboard shortcuts for other stuff. so that’s what we’re gonna do now, open the settings.

bam, settings. there’s tons of stuff you can do in here, notably change the shortcuts (I keep the defaults). what I’m gonna show you how to do real quick is change where you save your captures, because it can be a little weird since screenshots are saved in the same place as the recordings (not sure if you can change that, I haven’t found a way to do so).

so just click on recordings, and click the 3 little dots shown below to set it to a different file path if you want to.

ok, now to actually TAKE the HQ screenshots.

Alt + F2 is the default shortcut for pulling up the “photo mode” overlay, and it’ll look like this, on the side of your screen.

the settings above will take a normal screenshot with your native resolution, but that’s not what we want, so we’re gonna click on capture > screenshot (as shown above) and select super resolution (as shown below):

with super resolution enabled, you’ll be able to scale up the image render resolution to either 2x or 4x (maybe you have other options depending on your specs, idk, just know that the higher you go the longer it’s going to take).

and then bam, just click snap (unless you want to mess with the filters, that’s an option, I find it unnecessary bc I already use gshade but hey, do whatever ur little heart desires)

once you snippity snap that pic, you’re gonna get a lil load thingy:

it might take a few seconds (again, depends on your pc specs) and like i said earlier, the higher the resolution, the longer this part is gonna take. ultimately, it is a slightly slower process than using SRWE but it’s one that has less issues, more official support, and you don’t need an external app for it since it comes with your PC and is just an overlay. also it doesn’t crash your game lol.

recording is easier though you just click record (or the keyboard shortcut, default is Alt + F9), click again to stop recording, and bam you’ve got yourself a lil video of whatever you want.

Season 1 trailer analysis,Along side Doll,Uzi,Nori,N and Mystery WD speculations:

Part 2

Note: parts of this were written before and after EP3! So some of my speculation changed! I’ll leave a tiny edit when my thoughts have changed! I’ll post soon my breakdown on EP3,which is highly connected to this post

Ok so something that I want to brought your attention to is Uzi’s string theory showed at the end of EP2.

Entire board

First thing we notice is the insane amount of AS symbols,this clearly shows Uzi developing an obsession with the AS. We can also see drawings,notes written by Uzi and newspapers.

Speaking of newspaper,they offer a lot.

The first one unfortunately no one was able to figure out what is saying but the next ones some were able to figure out.

This one contains the headline:

“STRANGE DRONES FOUND”

Now a lot of people think this has to do with the AS,which could be true but am leaning more of the discovery of the DDs that arrived at copper 9, AKA when J,V,N first landed on the exoplanet.

The reason why I think this is the case because it uses “DRONES” not “DRONE”.

It’s plural.

Now yes this could mean the AS manifested in multiple WDs but I personally think it leans more at the arrival of the DDs.

The second one is blurry as fuck but thankfully other people could figure it out, the headline say:

“GRAVITATIONAL FORCES DETECTED- SITE 48”

Gravitational forces you say,huh? Now this could perfectly be another way of saying telekinesis

And since we saw Doll,a WD with the AS who has telekinetic abilities. Could she had been the one behind the forces detected at site 48? We can’t discard anything.

Or could it be a random WD with the AS? Maybe one from a different colony?

Or what of there was a third option?

Ladies and Gentlemen and Non-Binary hoes:

Nori Doorman!

The is no doubt Nori is related to the SA and the DDs,Nori could have gotten infected,but since we don’t know a lot about her,or the details or her death or the timeline of events between;

Uzis creation,Noris death,the AS and the DDs.

Its a bit confusing to make a clear picture of what’s going on.

Regardless her scene in EP2 makes me think it’s implied she has the AS and perhaps even passed it down to her daughter.

As you can see one of her eyes glitches to the AS symbol but also does the visor screen of baby Uzi

[Edit after EP3: I now think Yeva was the one behind the G. Forces at site 48,since her ID card had the number “048” and am convinced that Nori passed the AS to Uzi. Also another thing to mention,Nori was carrying baby Uzi,right? Well a detail I noticed is that baby uzi had the “UNTRAINED NEUTRAL NETWORK” sign on it,I think baby drones carry this when they are recently created,we also saw this sign in the pilot on another baby drone.

Despite this in Uzi’s family pic,found in Khan’s office,we can see baby Uzi,tho it’s unclear if she still had the sign ,as this can indicate if Nori was alive some time after Uzi was recently created (that can give us more or less a point in the timeline) but I can’t make it out since Khan is covering baby Uzi with his hand. Also Khan looks slightly younger as you can see less wrinkles.

Edit: After looking closely,yeah in the pick baby Uzi still has the sign,so unfortunately this doesn’t help a lot with the timeline. Also I might be wrong about the sign. Baby drone could carry it for the rest of their lives until they reach a certain age to pass their AI to a WDs body.

Edit: hey so there is this theory I found that says that Khan may be hiding a scar or wound under his sweater,as he is the only WD wearing one,and since Nori has a crack on her body,could this be connected? Could it be a scar Khan gained from a struggle between Nori? Or the DD that killed Nori? I didn’t know if to include this since unfortunately I cannot find the creator of this theory,and I wanna bring this theory up again in my future analyses. So if anyone knows the creator,let me know pls

Some people have mentioned that Nori could be this lil fella; The Mystery WD (but for now I’ll nickname her “R”,based on a theory made by @echologname )

I personally don’t think she is Nori or Doll,as they don’t seem to resemble her in my opinion

Also Doll is a highschooler (I speculate she and the other students are around 16-18 Y.O.) But nothing is confirmed) and the DD’s trio is heavily implied to be adults or straight up confirmed in Ns case (gonna talk about that in another post) after they arrived at Copper-9

And plus R doesn’t resemble a lot to Doll,as for Nori?Yeah the age can match up but not so much by physical appearance in my opinion

I actually did some drawings based on how she possibly looks! All of this is based off that one scene of her lol

What I could gather for her posible character desing is that:

1: She has silver hair like J,N and V

2: she has pastel yellow P. Color

3: Her hair is parted to the right

4: she has 2 bangs ending with ties (tho in my drawing instead of ties they are bows)

5: she has a tight low ponytail

6: She has a big bow on her left side,resembling that to Tessa’s (James’s Daughter) look,since Tessa also wore a big bow on her left side.

So remember how I mentioned her P. Color is pastel yellow? The same as the DDs P. Color?

And did you notice how in J’s,V’s and N’s past as WDs had a white P. Color???

I personally think R could be the AS origin,since it’s implied that Tessa saved her from a dump and brought her to the mansion,and there is theory going around; that James could be the head of the company (bc James starts with “J” and you know,the company is called JCJenson) tho despite I think this is plausible,I feel like he could simply be an important unit to the company,not necessarily being the head of it. Or he became the head of the company way later.

I feel like after R was brought,something horrible definitely happened,because of R,the AS was discovered and thats how the DDs came to be.

[Edit after EP3: its practically impossible for Doll to be R,and also the episodes just makes my idea of R being some sort of “patient 0”. Or the idea I had of the people experimenting on WDs and the AS makes me go brrr]

Also am I the only one who got sus vibes from N in EP2? The guy acted if he knew more than he lets on,like when Uzi asked him how he regrew his head back in the pilot,but he simply brushed it off. How he just vanished in the middle of the fight against Eldritch J

And going back to Nori for a lil bit,do you guys remember what the AS said using Nori’s hologram?

“It hurts our feelings you don’t remember us”

Of course this line could be directed to Uzi to toy with her feelings,kinda saying like “Its hurts me that you don’t remember me,your own mother” Or the AS could be saying it as in “It hurts that you didn’t realize we are a part of you now” (or perhaps the AS was in Uzi since she was an infant)

[Edit after EP3: again am 99.9% sure Uzi’s AS had it since she was created,since Nori passed it down to her]

But of courses my stupid brain also realized this could be directed to N, you know going like “like we are literally inside of you dumbass” or like “Don’t you remember our existence? Your past?”

A lil funny idea I had what if R is the AS??? Like the program talking and controlling Eldritch J? But thats just a crack idea

I also have more ideas going on about N,J,Eldritch J and Nori but that will be for my EP3 post! (Tho its about the whole possibility of N being the one killed Nori,but honestly even am not the biggest fan of that theory)

TSUKIHIME FASHION REVIEW 4!!!!

hello hello everyone

*insert applause here*

i totally haven't been dealing with some severe writers block for this relatively improvised series of rants no way i just been uhh climbing a.... spiritual mountain! yes! that is it!

i strongly suggest everyone climb their own spiritual mountains it really helps clear *things* up

so today we will be returning to the much awaited tsukihime fashion review with the one and only CIEL so go whip up some good ole curry and read along for this rant breakdown of ciel's designs evolution throughout the years.

suddenly she hits you with this look and its like ugh i could go to war for much less. i could take on maybe a dead apostle or two or even a dead apostle ancestor. sure i'd die but what is death in front of curry senpai amirite? im suuuuuuure she would appreciate that sentiment

on a serious note tho she actually is adorable as hell and i can't believe i only literally just noticed that. the hair especially is to die for.

i used to feel somewhat indifferent to the design here especially concerning the tattoos which i think i still am. the biggest issue with the tattoos for me specifically the angel wings is simply they aren't symmetrical and thus look bad according to me but everything else is chefs kiss

i talked about this in the roa post but like wtf is wrong with roa man... first thing he does is strip down is bro ok? why does he do this? what does he gain? freak.

the remake makes her look much more generic in a sense especially concerning the hair

overall i would say the remake really went for a slightly more generic look in the hair department and i aint really a tm boomer or anything but it is such a shame

I agree, even the car photos I find a little too much. Unless they were stopping for a photo with a fan, but with them just driving out trying to stay under the radar I find it a bit too much. However that's just me, I know it's nice for the fans to have a little insight to where their favourite players are etc but idk. Whatever they decide to show us is enough for me. I'm just enjoying L not playing the full 90 (not because I dislike her, because the girl needs a rest😅) and K being the most accurate passer in Liga F🥳

yes, i find it slightly less invasive when it’s a pic of them coming or going from the stadium, just purely bc at least it’s within a football setting. however, sharing unconsented candid pics is weird if they’re literally just walking down the street. it happens tho unfortunately and comes with the fame side of things which is why i feel bad for the players that you can tell just want a quiet life!

Stranger Things Characters Summed Up

Warnings: bit of swearing and mentions of sex. (This has made me want to write smut about Eddie, Billy and Steve… and 001) Overall just me being a whore for fictional characters.

Joyce: She got less unhinged after season 1 which made me sad, but my favourite mum on TV at the moment. Can’t tell if I’m in love with her or want her to adopt me, but either way if she gave me a cuddle I’d start crying. I’m not sure how she created such boring sons tho.

Hopper: No one will ever love me the way this man loves Joyce. He’s my comfort character, and him arguing with the kids is fucking hilarious. “Maybe I will allow you to date my daughter” I LOVE HIM SO MUCH. Best Dad™️.

Billy: A tragic villain done perfectly, and I half fall in love whenever he’s on screen until I remember that he’s a racist. I’m a simp but I have morals. (But also, like, the potential this man had to be the loveliest in the world)

Bob: Was the scene of him dead and being eaten really necessary? No. It made for good TV though.

Max: Deserves way better than those boys, and is the ginger icon the 80s needed. I would get in a car with her.

Eleven: My wholesome little murderer. She’s somehow part of an amazing duo (Hopper/El) and a terrible one (Mike/El) so I must blame Mike for this.

Mike: If Stranger Things was a Christmas dinner, he would be the brussel sprouts.

Will: Surprisingly resilient for a guy who looks like a slightly strong wind would take him out. Just let this boy be gay and play D&D in peace.

Dustin: Somehow two steps ahead of everyone and four steps behind them at the same time? I love it, and the show would be shit without him.

Robin: An barely-functioning lesbian with autism? I love to see it and I love her. I’m very gay and she is the perfect example of why. I want to play with her hair while she talks about her hyperfixations.

Lucas: He’s cool when everything is fine, and really annoying during a crisis. I’m pleased that a show set in the 80s hasn’t killed off the black guy four seasons in. Less interesting than his sister, but him and Max are pretty funny.

Nancy: A solid character when you remove her from the Jonathan and Steve situation. She’s very clearly in love with two men, girl take a break from dating and buy a vibrator. She’s very hot with a gun and uses it well, which automatically earns my respect.

Steve: I am so in love with this man, and the fact he uses a baseball bat instead of a gun is beyond sexy to me. Please fuck me. “Yeah it’s me, don’t cream your pants” Sir I am literally on my knees.

Less horny Steve version: Him protecting those kids is definitely my favourite thing about this show. The character growth is impeccable, and I melt whenever he makes the kids go ahead of him when there’s a danger.

Jonathan: Oh yeah, he’s… there? A good brother but that’s kind of it, a very bleh character. I’m still not really over him taking those pics of Nancy and Steve…

001: Very hot while he was murdering the kids. Less hot while he was murdering Max.

Eddie: I want him to rail me while I praise him. And HE DIDN’T RUN AWAY THIS TIME :(

Hiii I just saw your recent gifset and I was wondering if you could share some colouring/quality tips for gifs?? I've been having some issues lately and I'm trying to collect knowledge from people with great skills, thanks in advance!

hiii!! <3 first of all, thanks omg :(( i feel absolutely underqualified to be giving advice but i'll try to tell u some stuff that i think makes gifs look nicer (i'll do it after a read more so that i don't clog up the dash)

idk how much experience you have in making gifs so i'm gonna be all over the place probably lmao sorry!!

first all, in connection to quality, using anything other than photoshop to gif (like websites or stuff like that) is gonna make your gifs look much less hq no matter how nice the actual footage is. sadly no website can beat ps :( also, using 4k/1080p clips is going to make your job much easier. I use 4kdownloader to get videos from youtube and it works great most of the times.

in terms of processing, once i get my video i use vapoursynth but i don't sharpen/denoise there. i think the vs sharpening is a bit too harsh sometimes and the denoising can be too extreme. (i know ppl get great results w sharpening/denoising there tho!! i've never got it to work like that lol) after the clip is opened in ps, i sharpen there. my settings are very basic (amount 500% and radius 0.4px and then i do that again but with amount 10% and radius 10px) if the original clip is too lq and i'm not satisfied with how the gif looks i might use topaz clean / denoise a little bit. but i try to keep that light. in my personal opinion, i think gifs that are too smooth (so much so that their hair gets blurry and stuff) just don't look as nice. i'd rather have a slightly grainy gif over a very very smooth gif where ppl don't look like ppl.

a lil trick i do when i'm not as pleased with the quality and the gifs are from mvs is to add a little bit of grain using the smart filter. so then the grain looks like it's there on purpose and not bc the og clip is bad (other times i just add noise for aesthetics like with my keppie gifset)

another tool some ccs use is high pass. i feel like high pass needs to be used lightly because sometimes it just makes people look like dolls :(( it's like it takes away all texture and it just looks... slightly odd? i tried to use it a few times but in the end i went back to my own sharpening. i just think it's a tool that needs to be used v carefully.

ok, coloring time!! coloring can literally fix a gif sometimes hahah. like a gif that looks kinda grainy suddenly u color it and it becomes ten times better. when i color, i start by messing with the curves and i tend to do this (this pic is just me messing with a random gif hahah)

i obviously play around with that but i love doing this because it makes my blacks darker. i also play around with exposure and i tend to bring the exposure up a little, bring the offset down a little and the gamma correction up (again, me messing around randomly just so u can see how my settings might end up looking visually. the numbers change all the time because it's not that i do it exactly like this all the time)

i've been told (and i can attest to it myself) that having gifs with a lot of contrast is good for quality so i feel like doing these prev things (and also messing with the blacks in selective color) allows me to bring out that contrast and also make gifs that i enjoy (i'm a high contrast gif lover) but you also have to be mindful not to make your subjects too white by upping the exposure or messing with curves too much. whitewashing is a no no, even if whitewashed gifs always end up looking less grainy >:( for skintone i play around with color balance and selective color mostly. if the whitewashing in the original video is too much, i might go to color lookup, use the preset 3strip, set the layer as 'darken' and mess with the opacity and then if it ends up looking too red i might do the same with a 'fall color' layer and lower the opacity even more for that one (or else the gifs looks too yellow). i also play around with the reds and the yellows in hue/saturation

finally, when i export the gifs, i make sure that i pick the saving mode (i'm sure this is not the proper way to call this but anyways sdfasd) that makes the gif looks better. like sometimes i find that with green gifs some settings make the gif look atrocious so i have to use adaptable for those but anyways i usually mess around w that hahah

idk if this was useful in any sort of way??? if u have a question about something that i mentioned here or i want to ask me more u can totally dm me or come back and ask me 'hey girl wtf?' because i'm so so bad at explaining things by text!! also i wrote this under the idea that u are sort of knowledgable on how to gif but idk !!
