emily gwen absolutely does not deserve to live in poverty but it's a massive stretch to say they invented the flag when it's just another edit of someone's edit of someone's edit of the lipstick lesbian flag. they should get support but im fucking sick of people acting like they did something amazing for us when all they did was add more ugly colors to an existing ugly flag. they deserve better because they're human but no one is taking anything away from them by using the flag that was already derivative
so is my inbox just a magnet for dumbasses lately?
i don't know what the fuck you think the lipstick lesbian flag is, but this is the lipstick lesbian flag:
Tumblr media
it was created by a woman named natalie mccray, who is notoriously a racist and transphobe. nevertheless, this flag became very popular in online spaces when it was introduced.
since there was still no official lesbian flag, people then used a derivative of this flag as one. it's not really known who decided to remove the lipstick symbol from it and use it as a flag for lesbians in general. but for a while, this is the flag that some people used:
Tumblr media
many people had gripes over using the pink flag as our official one. some didn't like that it was based off a flag made by a bigot, others didn't like that it excluded butches and masc lesbians as pink usually symbolizes femininity (which is absolutely valid; they're the backbone of the lesbian community).
during much of the 2010s, many tried to create their own original lesbian flags. but emily gwen's creation gained much popularity because the meaning behind their flag and the different colours that THEY personally chose resonated with many in the lesbian community. this is the sunset lesbian flag that emily created with all the meanings behind each colour:
Tumblr media
emily was not copying the lipstick lesbian flag or anyone else's flag. if you were around during 2018 when emily released this flag, emily would explain time and time again their thought process when they came up with this design (i don't remember it all, but i do remember that the dark orange was actually meant to specifically represent butch lesbians and the dark pink was meant to specifically represent femme lesbians; but emily eventually altered the meanings behind them because butch/femme culture is merely a subculture of lesbian genders and they wanted to include others who are exclusively masculine or feminine but are not butch/femme).
emily's creation of the sunset lesbian flag is a historic part of lesbian culture. they put a lot of thought into the flag, and they've received so much hate for trying to be inclusive of everyone in the community. i don't give a fuck if you like the flag or not, but what you're not going to do is accuse my friend of something that is absolutely untrue and disrespectful.
so get the fuck out of my inbox before you start spouting bullshit. you're an embarrassment to the lesbian community.

Something I've noticed is that no matter what fandom or community we are in—black people will always always have to make a safe space for ourselves. Every single fandom I was in there were always black people being treated badly by white people and nonblacks and everytime we spoke on it we are told that we are either making it up or causing problems/discourse.
Even in the LGBTQ+ community where niggas preach about being sooo accepting we have to make *our own flags and spaces because we get talked over and forgotten so damn much. You look up queer related stuff and white people show up first (try the trans selfie tag or look up androgynous stuff on pinterest.) You look up queer shows and it's only white people with a black side character or a white person x a black person like we can't exist on our own. White queers calling black people cops for being uncomfortable with certain labels.
Even with fictional black characters they get the same treatment. Marina from Splatoon 2 and Hobie Brown from Spiderman both are victims of nonblack people hypersexualizing them and masculinizing them. Xinyan from Genshin Impact is a complete and utter stereotype of black people—being seen as aggressive and mean and a literal theft. Don't get me started on how yall whitewash the fuck outta them. It's either sexualize them, whitewash them or forget about them completely.
For some reason white people are seen as more aesthetically pleasing compared to Black people and when we look up aesthetics we literally have to type in "black person x aesthetic" or afro punk or afro goth despite us being the creators of some of these aesthetics. Same with cosplaying, white peoples cosplays are seen as more "canon" compared to black people or even people who's race is literally the character being cosplayed.
Fanfiction writers constantly cater to white people despite trying to market their stuff as "inclusive" while black people get shitted on for making character x black reader fics and don't you know weird ass white people still read them??
Yall tell us to make our own things instead of "complaining" about it and we do, then we get hit with death threats and hate. We make our black edits and get told that it's "blackwashing" and the artists get called the n word, we make black movies and our actors get death threats. We make our own original black art with our black OC'S and get told that we're being selfish and "racist" for not drawing other people. We literally cannot exist without you people hating on us and unnecessarily critiquing us.
[Note: If you nonblack or white niggas come up here and being like "well acschually op🤓☝🏾" I will actually hurt you. If you ask "why is this in the x tag" I will hurt you as well. You try n derail and make it about a different race I'm hurting you.]

It was October 10, three days after Hamas had murdered 1,200 Israelis and abducted hundreds more, and Jewish students at Middlebury College were trying to organize a vigil for the victims. They reached out to Middlebury’s dean of students, Derek Doucet, with a draft poster promoting the event, which they invited administrators at the elite liberal arts school to attend.
"Stand in Solidarity With the Jewish People," the poster read. "This will be an opportunity to honor the innocent lives lost in the tragic events that have struck Israel in the past days."
It didn’t go over well.
In an email to students reviewed by the Washington Free Beacon, Doucet, who has oversight of student activities, pushed to rename the vigil and strip it of references to Judaism so as to make it "as inclusive as possible."
"Some suggestions that might help are stating that this gathering is to honor ‘all the innocent lives lost,’" Doucet wrote, and including a reference to the "tragedies that have struck Israel and Gaza." He added that calls for solidarity with Jews could trigger "unhelpful reactions."
"I recognize and deeply respect that there has to be a place for purely Jewish grief and sorrow," Doucet said, "and yet I wonder if … such a public gathering in such a charged moment might be more inclusive with edits such as these."
The need to include all groups—in a vigil mourning the losses of one—was selective and short-lived. Less than a month later, Doucet’s office approved a "Vigil for Palestine," hosted by the Muslim Students Association, that began with an Islamic prayer and featured remarks from the school’s vice president of equity and inclusion, Khuram Hussain, who did not attend the Jewish vigil.
"Standing in solidarity," the Muslim student group wrote in an Instagram post promoting the event. "Together, we honor Palestine."
The divergent reaction to the two events is one of the most shocking examples of discrimination outlined in a federal civil rights complaint against Middlebury, one of the top liberal arts colleges in the country. Filed last month by the StandWithUs Center for Legal Justice, a pro-Israel nonprofit that has sued other elite schools over anti-Semitism, the complaint alleges that Middlebury created a hostile environment for its Jewish students by ignoring and at times impeding their efforts to combat campus anti-Semitism.
-
Middlebury funds and recognizes six Christian clubs on campus, for example, along with both the Muslim Students Association and Students for Justice in Palestine. But it has refused to recognize Chabad, an orthodox campus organization with chapters across the country, on the grounds that Jewish students already have access to Hillel, the only space at Middlebury with a Kosher kitchen.
"The funding request for food replicates programming already funded and offered by Hillel for Shabbat dinners," Middlebury’s student activities office wrote in a February email rejecting Chabad’s bid for recognition. It was at least the second time since 2018 that the school has denied an application from Chabad.
"Middlebury believes it has legitimate grounds to deny a Jewish club’s recognition simply on the grounds that one Jewish group is more than enough for the campus," the complaint reads. "It appears that Chabad’s rejection was at least in part based on a disturbing reluctance by Middlebury to provide kosher food options to its Jewish students."
The school also resisted calls for a police presence at the Jewish vigil in October, citing concerns that the officers could upset students, and asked the organizers of the event not to display Israeli flags, according to meetings described in the complaint.
The Palestinian vigil appears to have faced fewer hurdles. Not only did Middlebury station a police car outside the event, according to a report in the school’s student newspaper, it offered up Middlebury Chapel, one of the largest event spaces on campus, to the Muslim group after interest in the vigil surged. The chapel was not made available for the Jewish vigil, which was held outside, even though it drew a larger crowd than the pro-Palestinian event.

[Image description: Three flags, each with seven equally-sized horizontal stripes. On the first flag, the top three stripes form a gradient from deep violet to dark blue, and the bottom four stripes form a gradient from pastel yellow to light blue. On the second flag, the top three stripes form a gradient from blue to pale green, the middle stripe is off-white, and the bottom three stripes form a gradient from pale pink to pink. On the third flag, the top four stripes form a gradient from red-pink to pale orange, and the bottom three stripes form a gradient from warm purple to deep blue. End description.]
left: butch. middle: futch. right: femme.
the butch and femme flags are edits of the butch and femme flags by disasterbisexual, and the futch flag is inspired by the futch flags by neopronouns. also check out the alternate chemme flags by neopronouns, as those were what inspired us to make these edits!
as with the flags they're edits of/inspired by, these flags are explicitly inclusive of all butches, futches, and femmes.

Oh the Irony...
Tumblr media
One of the most tragic ironies of the 21st century is that the Republican Party is no longer the "party of Lincoln" and the Union.
Tumblr media
Instead, the Republican Party has become the "party of Trump" and the Neo-Confederates.
Republicans today are working hard to suppress the Black vote in red states and to use the conservative Supreme Court to dismantle the Voting Rights Act.
Republicans today are endeavoring to dismantle DEI programs that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in schools, universities, government agencies, and private businesses.
Republicans today have used the conservative Supreme Court to ban affirmative action in higher education, and are filing more lawsuits to ensure that affirmative action is banned everywhere.
Republicans today have passed laws in red states that ban the discussion of systemic racism, and any discussion of race that makes any student feel "discomfort, guilt or anguish on account of their race" in public schools and universities. Instead, Republicans are promoting the teaching of a whitewashed American history.
Republicans today are opposed to taking down Confederate monuments or changing the names of schools, military bases, etc., that were named after prominent Confederates.
Republicans today are behind banning books on "race, racism, or [which] include characters of color" in school libraries across the nation.

is there any particular reason you use the fandom.com wiki instead of the fallout independent wiki?
i actually use both & plan to host my various works in the IFW community pagespace. but yes, there are reasons i am of rank at nukapedia and rarely contribute to IFW
first of all, i find the visual editor vastly more appealing than the raw wiki text editor. and the dark theme more appealing than the light theme
but mainly, the fandom wiki lets me develop articles and share what i know about the setting, whereas almost every time i try to contribute to ifw, someone in the edit chat suggests i should be punished. to their credit ifw as an organization has not mistreated me. but i have been told by a prominent member that i should avoid insulting the reader by Describing things, because description is interpretive
by contrast nukapedia lets me fly my freak flag literally as much as i want & encourages me to be an evil wizard. i invite you to compare
.https://fallout.wiki/wiki/Smiling_Man .https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Smiling_Man
.https://fallout.wiki/wiki/LGBTQ_Representation_in_Fallout .https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/LGBT_representation_in_the_Fallout_series#Themes
.https://fallout.wiki/wiki/Pylon_V-13 .https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Pylon_V-13
.https://fallout.wiki/wiki/The_Cathedral .https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/The_Cathedral
.https://fallout.wiki/wiki/Children_of_Atom .https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Church_of_the_Children_of_Atom
.https://fallout.wiki/wiki/The_Buried_City .https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/The_Buried_City
--interpretive nuka pages i made, with no IFW equivalent: .https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Conspiracy_theory .https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Disability_representation_in_the_Fallout_series .https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Pre-War_ghouls .https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Art_deco_sculptures
the differences here are a product of their respective cultures. of course, you can learn the most by perusing both. but you'll notice one of these is brazenly fiction-oriented, and the other far more interested in expediently conveying the primary texts in plain prose.
the fandom community is the one interested in cutting me loose on the primary pagespace. despite IFW's ostensible inclusion of popular mods and fan works, their standards for objectivity and notability are immeasurably more strict, and i would quickly be banned if i tried to use it the way I use nukapedia.
and that's fine! they have their own priorities. they produce their own distinctive results, some of which outclass nukapedia. they are nice when i try to work with them directly & accept some of my contributions. but it's simply not an environment in which i thrive
if a third wiki were to arise which was non-corporate and setting-oriented, i would probably use that site most actively. but currently, i am able to do whatever i want on nukapedia, and the website informs the setting enough that the ip has directly plagiarized me through my writings there. for now nukapedia sets the tone for the fandom so i also just don't want to let it fall into disrepair
i know corporations are bad and fandom is a bad corporation. i don't like it either.

ok before i say ANYTHING, radqueers who interact with this post will be blocked on sight. dont touch this post /srs (edit: added some things and rephrased some things)
Coralqueer
Tumblr media
(image id: a 9 striped flag, the color order is duck egg blue, periwinkle, cornflower, pastel blue, mabel, light pink, light fushia, candy pink, and duck egg blue. in the middle of the flag there is a image of light purple coral with white stars surrounding it. end id)
Coralqueer is a inclusionist term that has a heavy emphasis on self-expression,creativity, and diversity, while still being safe and being wary of things that are actually harmful.
basically coralqueer is "as long as you arent something thats geniunley harmful, everybody's valid!" also update: i wanted to add that the flag actually has a meaning! the blue shades represent inclusiveness and the ocean, the pink shades represent creativity and sea creatures, while the paler blue stripes on the top, bottom, and middle represent unity and peace!
Coralqueer supports:
-"Controdictory" labels such as mspec gay/lesbian, gaybians, lesboys/turigirls, etc
-Systems of all origins wheather they be traumagenic, DID/OSSD, non-disordered, endogenic, or more
-Disabled and Non-neurotypical folks of all disabilities and disorders (this includes personality disorders and other commonly demonized disorders!)
-The freedom to do what you want with your body, wheather that be having a abortion or body modification or whatever
-All Consentual non-harmful relationships, wheather romantic, sexual, monogamous, polyamorus, queer-platonic, or objectum/objectix
-The freedom to express one's non-harmful interests and hobbies how they please.
-Xenogenders, neogenders, non-dysphoric trans folks, pronoun and gender non-conforming folks and other people who dont fit the binary
-Activist movements such as ACAB, defund the police, BLM, stop asian hate, free iran, women's rights, stand with ukraine, free palestine, etc
-Spirtual freedom and the ability to take your own religious path that you wish. (includes stuff like witchcraft!) -Alterhumanity of all different forms (this includes transspecies folks who do not use it in a radqueer way!) -Recovery and healing for those who have escaped the radqueer community
However, coralqueer DOES NOT support the following:
-Hatred, bigotry, discrimination, exclusionism. or harassing others for their identity or interests.
-Transid (transrace, transabled, transage, that kind of bullshit)
-Pro-contact harmful paraphilias, or the ones who encourage acting on harmful paraphilias (seriously what the hell, fuck off)
-Pro-ship/com-ship/anti-anti
-Gatekeeping, infighting, or starting shit just to start shit
i made this term because it seems like the radqueer community is starting to grow larger, so i made coralqueer to help fight aganist it. radqueers DNI

SELENIAN BISEXUAL FLAG
[plaintext: Selenian Bisexual Flag]
i made a flag for bisexual sapphics upon request, which i've named the selenian bisexual flag. the flag is inspired by both violets, which are used to resemble sapphics, and the moon, which is often used to resemble bisexuals, feminity, and women. this is inclusive of all bi sapphics, please use this flag in good faith.
edit: i forgot about the existence of selenic, a term for bisexual sapphics. you could consider this as an alternate selenic flag, or if you like the term 'selenian bisexual' better, feel free to use that as a term instead. as for the subset of lunarian, this flag is not affiliated with that term or meaning in any way. i won't be changing the name of the flag, because it's ultimately meant to be a flag name like 'morganite transfem,' not a term name.
[photo description 1: a seven striped pride flag. the top two and bottom two stripes are equally sized, and there is three slimmer stripes in the middle. the color of the stripes from top to bottom are: dark purple, medium purple, light purple, white, light purple, medium blue, and light blue. there is an icon of a white flower at the center of the flag. end id.]

Writeblr intro
Last Updated: Mar 2024 So, I realised I hadn't actually written one of these, and I had to fix it!
Name: Magpie, or Shelle, or Michelle.
Pronouns: she/her or xe/xer/xis.
Who: both a writer and an editor!
The Writing: I’ve been publishing since 2011, and I have a bunch of free and paid anthologies I’ve organized, but these are my most important/favourite works.
Tumblr media
Except for The Meaning Wars series, all of my books are set in Canada!
The Meaning Wars (complete; And The Stars Will Sing, The Stolen: Two Short Stories, The Meaning Wars, Poe’s Outlaws, A Jade’s Trick, The Meaning Wars Complete Omnibus)

Vibes: Found family. Gentle romance. Polyamory (m/f/m). Superpowers without superheroes. Sinister cults and religious extremism. Reincarnation. An alternate future. Adorable giant spiders. Silk-weaving and fiber arts. Post-collapse societal reorganization and politics.
The Loved, The Lost, The Dreaming: A Horror Anthology includes an alternate-ending version of The Underlighters, the novella A Shot of Vodka, and a dozen or so genre-crossing short stories. All of them have spooky elements.
Similar to: Neil Gaiman’s Smoke and Mirrors, Roald Dahl’s Skin and Other Stories (this is not an endorsement of antisemite Roald Dahl; I am antifascist)
Vibes: Underground living. Spooky dolls. Abandoned houses. Queerness. Sinister fey. Nightmares. Lovecraftian eeriness. Here be monsters.
Bad Things That Happen To Girls (Book 1 of the Memory Bearers Saga; Book 2, Within the Tempest, is also one of my WIPs) Possibly my most underrated work, this New Adultish story is a standalone novella about trauma and what happens when life breaks down.
Similar to: Emily Danforth’sThe Miseducation of Cameron Post and Miriam Toews’ A Complicated Kindness
Vibes: Broken family. Abusive mother. Being queer in a small city. Religious trauma. Forbidden cross-cultural love. Teen heartbreak. Coming-of-age. Sisters.

Primarily into sci fi, fantasy, horror, and literature (and associated subgenres); enthusiastic about #ownvoices and all kinds of diversity/marginalised representation in fiction.
You don’t have to go through Upwork unless you want to; DM me if you’re looking for an editor who’s knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and gentle. I’m also budget-friendly!
