December is kicking my ass.

I released a book and... once again, it pretty much flopped. Not surprising, but I had been really hoping it would have gotten by on a bit of word of mouth. Majority of my ARC team didn't review it (which is normally, only about 10-30% of ARCs get reviewed. I didn't make those stats up!) and I simply don't have the budget for ads. Doing Tik Tok right now is useless unless I get a US sim card (which I will when I'm in the states at the end of the month).

Sooo... I'm kind of in limbo right now with my books. None of them are making me any money, which is super disappointing. I worked my ass off on them and I'm so proud of them. I'm especially proud of We Own the Stars. That one was my most expensive to produce because of the editing but the book really shines now because I put in the extra funds.

On top of that, I'm having health problems. I'm getting an ultrasound on Friday to see what's going on because my bloodwork was a wee bit worrying. I had to leave a few discord servers due to my decaying mental health and even explained so much. And it stings when you spend so much time with these people and chat and... they don't check on you after you said you're in a mental health spiral. This is just a general PSA to check on your friends when they're going through hell. And another PSA that not everyone is actually your friend, I guess? And sometimes we overestimate our relationships with people which suuuuucks.

Anyway if you made it to end of this, gold star. Thanks for reading! I'm going to continue writing in 2024 but I'm scaling back with two releases. I'm trying to find a day job but I'm not having much luck.

It is the curse of ADHD that, at least for me, I'm always running to the next project, and then the next, chasing the new shiny thing. And that has served me well in my creative endeavors, as much as it has stymied me. But I really do think that I caught something special in my first novel, A DEMON'S NAME UPON YOUR LIPS. And thanks to how my brain works, I rarely ever promote it! Which seems unfair for how much effort I put in, alongside my friends who patiently helped me edit it.

It's a sapphic romance between a (newly minted) Duke and the demon she summons. It's a fantasy which takes place in a secondary world loosely based on Victorian-era Europe, though without any of the queerphobic, or even sexist, hatred endemic to its real-world counterpart (or even to our modern day). It's fast paced, gay as fuck, and I poured my heart and soul into it.

It's because they surprised her, and Ursula is very rarely surprised.

Just a quick reminder that I will not tolerate bad-mouthing of traditional, indie, hybrid, online, fan-fiction, or any other type of writing and publishing on my blog, in asks, in the replies, or in the reblogs.

Furthermore, anyone who feels the need to disparage any type of writing or publication should take some time to educate themselves and do some self-reflection. What insecurities are these feelings masking? Why are they not confident enough in their own writing or path to publishing to be supportive of all types of writing and publishing? Why do they feel the experiences of some are enough to invalidate the experiences of many?

There is room for everyone in the world of writing and publishing. There's no reason not to be inclusive of everyone, all types of writing, all paths of publishing, and advice from every background and level of experience.

I used to be do variety streaming a lot and couldn't stick to a single game for very long. Because of this, I didn't finish too many games. I'd like to get through a decent chunk of my backlist and I really want to finish Nier.
