“Your welcome was rather disappointing, Jiang-zongzhu,” Jin Zixun calls mockingly. “Even your husband here failed to make us feel at home.” The obvious baiting is answered with a dangerously still, silent courtyard. Jin Zixun throws a glance at the three cultivators keeping Lan Wangji kneeling, chin tipped in a wordless order.
The blade hooked beneath Lan Wangji’s throat digs deeper, drawing more blood and he knows without looking that the red on the front of his robes is growing. Still no response. Lan Wangji can feel his wife’s presence, along with a handful of other qi signatures he recognizes as Jiang senior disciples. And he prays she doesn’t come out.
Jin Zixun’s grin is feral. “Very well.” But before the blade slides home and ends it all, the doors are flung wide and Jiang Cheng emerges. A silent breath escapes him. He should have known his Wanyin would not stand by. It is not in her nature.
Hair unbound and eyes flickering with Zidian’s energy, she looks like a wrathful goddess of lightning. Even where he’s forced to kneel, Lan Wangji can feel the electricity thrumming through his wrecked meridians, thinned to the point of snapping. Sandu’s naked blade gleams wickedly in one hand. And in the other, she carries their son.
She is not like his mother, bowing her head with furious acceptance of her fate and allowing her sons to be dragged away from her. She is not like her own mother, vicious in her pride and arrogance, blind to the needs of her children.
Jiang Cheng would do the impossible for those she loves. That is her strength.
Lan Wangji knows that there is no safer place for their son than in her arms.

My small collection with designs by Xue Yang and Mo Xuanyu from mdzs in different AU.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Those who are somehow familiar with my arts know how much I like to draw them together. Besides the fact that I like their canonical designs, they didn't suit me for certain subjects and I came up with others. I've already posted three of the four sketches.
1. Mo Village AU.
The design of this homewear was specially designed for a role-playing game, the plot of which is based on the life of Yang and Yu in Lanling. According to the plot, due to some circumstances, the guys go to the Mo village to visit the Xuanyu's family. They stay there and rest before returning to the sect.

Me and @evakant cooked so hard I think we gave each other permanent scar damage 😭
Continuing from both our thoughts on Yunmeng Shuangjie as Obi-Wan and Anakin, we assigned other CQL characters as SW characters! I think we spoke to god when we decided that Jin Ling is Leia, Lan Sizhui is Luke, and Lan Wangji is Padme

It really isn’t fair how rarely Meng Yao shows up in Yiling Wei Sect AUs.
You look at that brilliant man with his murder dimples and his love of event planning and tell me he wouldn’t absolutely thrive as The Yiling Patriarch’s Gay Assistant.
Also not for nothing but nobody in history has ever needed a PR manager more than the Yiling Wei Sect as a whole

Jumping off my Wei Sect As Mad Inventors post from a while ago
I’m thinking about the bracelet Wei Wuxian made for Jin Ling’s 100 days, and while obviously his was an exceptionally powerful one, I feel like protective amulets and such are a great like. “Baby’s first project” type thing? Something all the little baby disciples practice making when they’re starting off.
And of course, if you’ve got a community where Literally Everyone Knows The Basics Of This Thing, then you also inevitably have a community where Literally Everyone Also Gets Weird With This Thing. You end up with people making all sorts of crazy charms and amulets that do all sorts of things, partially because everybody is lowkey competing to see who can make the Best and partially because it’s a fairly safe medium through which to test your ideas before you apply them to (more powerful but also significantly more volatile) talismans and arrays.
Which means everybody ends up with stacks and stacks of these things. A lot of them get sold, of course. It’s a good way to turn a buck. However, I like to think that a bunch of little disciples all running around wearing bracelets up to their elbows and layers of necklaces come up with. A different sort of tradition.
Am I saying the Wei Sect disciples go full-on PLUR kandi trades/gifts when they make new friends in other sects? Yes. Yes I am.

MDZS X SVSSS with original Shen Jiu AU:
Since it was implied that Jin Guangshan had an unknown Big number of illigitimate children all over China what if there was some of his illigitimate children on Cang Qiong Mountain Sect?
What if each Peaks had illigitimate children of Jin Guangshan along the disciples and body, not even the main concerned, know about it?
And What if on Qing Jin Peak the disciples who are Jin Guangshan's illigitimate children are twins, who were born from a prostitute from the Red Warm Pavillon who had Jin Guangshan as a client in the past, and who have been taken under Shen Jiu's wing?
Yes, that can already exist in PIDW, but there's no much that would change PIDW. So what if there's Jin Guangshan's bastards in Cang Qiong? Cang Qiong is a far away sect and the Jin sect is busy dealing with the Wen's imperialism. Jin Guangshan doesn't keep track of his bastards, so he's unaware that he has such strong ties to the illustrious Cang Qiong sect. The children who are aware of their parentage aren't going to be going around announcing to all that they are illegitimate children as doing so would invite scorn and being shunned from society. There would be children who wouldn't even be aware of who their blood father is - their mothers, being prostitutes, wouldn't be clear exactly who's seed took root.
Heck, Shen Jiu can even be half-brothers to Jin Guangshan!
[More thoughts about #Cang Qiong Sect disciples included a number of Jin Guangshan's illegitimate children AU]

absolutely love the wrh raises wwx au! is there a reason that the sunshot campaign is happening so many years later than canon in this au? did wwx play any role in delaying the start of the war?
Yes! It's my personal headcanon that novel!Wen Ruohan only started the war because he realized that his own sons were nowhere near as talented as Wei Wuxian, Lan Xichen, Lan Wangji, etc; but in this verse, Wen Ruohan postponed the start of the war because he had Wei Wuxian.
As in canon, Wen Ruohan destabilized the Nie sect several years before Wangxian met by murdering Nie Mingjue's father, and Lan Xichen never stood out as a threat because he dropped out of the competitive cultivation circuit to raise Jingyi when he was only 23. Lan Wangji stopped attending tournaments the same year LXC did, so Wen Ruohan paid very little attention to the Lan sect until he stumbled across Jingyi night-hunting with Jin Ling about fifteen years later.
At that point, Wen Ruohan was reasonably confident that Wen Xu would be a decent successor; but Wen Xu and his wife had three daughters and refused to keep trying for a son, and Wen Chao had been unable to father any children despite having a wife and several mistresses. What was worse (to WRH) was that Wei Wuxian was unmarried—under Wen Ruohan's own orders—and had no heirs other than Sizhui, who was categorically incapable of fighting anything but fierce corpses/yaoguai because he was terrified of injuring or killing another person. As a result, Wen Ruohan finally attacked the Cloud Recesses when Sizhui was about 17.

I believe that no matter what he did, there was no happy ending for Jin Guangyao.
Whether he stayed with the Nie (he would always wish that he could have been legitimized by his father. [Because of the better social standing it would bring him which was a very big deal actually he would have been miserable unless he was legitimized, because he really wanted his father's acceptance, because he had to replace that horrible last memory of Jinlintai in his mind, because it was his birthright, & most importantly because it was his mother's last wish], he would get bullied & humiliated & get looked down upon every day by almost everyone, he would always wish [& know that with his potential] he could reach much higher and make the changes he wanted to make in the world) or didn't, or join the Lans (the same problems but maybe with less bullying and fewer shit talks because it would have been against the Lan rules and also the Lans owed JGY big time) or the Jiangs, whether Meng Shi survived or didn't (I think JGY wouldn't have told her about that staircase incident, then who knows what lies he'd make up and what he would do to hide that he was not accepted by the Jins from his mother or get accepted by them at any cost and what it would result in) whether NHS planned his downfall or didn't (he still had the head of NMJ in his secret room that he claimed "wouldn't let him go", he still slept in the same bed as his sister, he still had and had lost a son with her that he claimed that "his blood ran cold everytime he looked at him" & whether he did have him killed or not he blamed himself for his death [I've explained here why I think that], he still had to live with the knowledge that no matter what horrible deed he committed for JGS, no matter how hard he tried he was never "worth mentioning" to his father, and had to lose all his considerable filial piety & what was essentially his life's mission to the point that he murdered his father) whether he went to Dongying (he'd have still lost all he built in his motherland, despite years of trying to build himself a good reputation and prove anyone who taunt him wrong, he'd still always be known as the rotten "son of a prostitute" there. And He'd have to start from scratch in Dongying, He'd still had to leave without Meng Shi's body, NHS would never get off his tail, and he'd be separated from LXC and JL [even if they followed him, he likely would feel bad for separating them from their sects and their families. Those were things that JGY himself longed for most of his life. He wouldn't want them to follow him.]) or didn't. & don't even start with him marrying LXC which would make all his problems exponentially worse. It would probably get LXC in trouble too (maybe he'd had to leave his sect) and that would be something that JGY would never want.
Certainly, what happened to him in canon was the worst possible scenario and he might have been less miserable in some of those other scenarios, but there were just no happy endings for him.
#for everyone else#you can pinpoint the moment when everything started to go wrong for them.#And most of them could even go on fine after that moment if some other moments hadn't happened to them.#Most of them had many chances for happiness. But JGY was doomed from the start.#jin guangyao#meng yao#jgy#mdzs#the untamed#cql#chen qing ling#mo dao zu shi#the grandmaster of demonic cultivation#tgod#mxtx#my two cents#but occasionally I like to indulge myself by imagining an Untamed timeline AU in which JGY joins XXC and SL#in their sect that is based on ideals rather than bloodline but he's more realistic than them#so he tries to secure good lobby and financial support and marketing (LXC is definitely going to back him up)#while gaslighting XXC and SL that he's not in fact making it bureaucratic no sir not at all#so with his help their sect expands and since common people are a lot more than nobles with numbers comes power#but who can drag them down with JGY behind them? so JGY with the help of LXC can still build the watchtowers#XY joins them (and does their dirty work in secret) but JGY mediates between him and XXC & SL (so they can get into their polyamory)#later the Wen Remnants can join them under the guise of a group of unrelated common people.#Wens? No. Fuck them Wens. Nobody here has seen any Wens ever. Who knows where they've gone?#(except perhaps the Wen siblings. 'cause Ghost General and the best Doctor in Qishan and WRH's fave were kinda famous.#they had to hide somewhere. maybe WQ now that she knew her clan was safe could marry JC.#and they could be like 'We've been married for years actually. look! we even have a son!' *shows A-Yuan*)

What first made you ship chengqingxian?
several factors! Mostly the fact that I love when all of JC's important relationships except JL are because of/thanks to WWX, and the friendship between WWX and WQ is my favorite (she's his intellectual equal! she's the one person he respects! she's the one who said the thank you and I'm sorry line, which he remembers and respects in his second life! do you know how rare that is! they bonded over mad immoral impossible science! to be fair the WN scene of boasting for his sister's achievements did a lot to get me to realize the extent to which she and WWX are similar.). @demoiselledefortune and I had also spoken about WQ/JC as a good possible crackship for JC - that was before Untamed came out.
I like the idea of the three of them together because they all have things they'd prioritize over the other two (not necessarily easily!) and they're all the sort of gremlin who goes "hm, yes in a minute" when being persuaded to go to bed (JC: busy with sect stuff; WQ/WWX: busy with research, or in WQ's case work) and then proceed to work for six more hours. They're cool because whenever there's a disagreement the sides are up in the air, depending on the issue.
Also if I'm going to sexualize the GC transfer I should extend the same logic to WQ's participation. Yes, she wasn't JC's beloved shixiong whom he trusted with everything, but she had them laying down. She's the one who performed the "operation". She impersonated Baoshan Sanren. She lied to JC so she could do what she wanted with him (it was what her brother asked her, and it stroked her ego - to be able to test her theory!) and she betrayed her sect in one fell swoop and it landed her and hers in the BM with a dead brother. Hybris, etc.
Anyway I think her and WWX's dehumanizing of JC for the purpose of the transfer is really fascinating and hot. WQ coming to know JC beyond his being her experimental subject is interesting - especially since when WQ isn't busy committing treason for the sake of ego/science/her brother asked, they have similar priorities! JC coming to know the woman who saved him (on WWX asking!) and whose voice he may still hear in his dreams as Baoshan Sanren's is fascinating! WWX should have a smart friend at home that he can rope into mad science, preferably on one of their loved ones, for their own good! WWX and WQ both can look at JC like this is theirs. They did that. WQ rebuilt him up and WWX is so deeply embedded in JC's identity that if you take it out what's left wouldn't be JC anymore. It's a ship that's easier to implement with a canon divergence starting sometime before JZX bites it, which is a bit inconvenient, or you need to write about WQ surviving if you want to set it after WWX's resurrection, so there are practical downsides. Which probably explains why I haven't written much of them.
they could be happy and there's potential for horrendously fraught and fucked-up crimes against JC's personal agency, so I'm all for it.

you can make the wens mob bosses if you want but the jins had power that was legitimate by the standards of the setting and they has zero oversight or restrictions on their actions. it's more accurate to characterize them as an actual governing body, or at least a very powerful business with ties to politics, a lobbying body that pushes laws to let them legally murder or torture people, a massive legal team to keep them out of trouble, and a fantastic PR team that keeps their image clean
