Still going crazy over the fact that Bill would start getting emotional enough to cry if he were to experience intimacy with someone and make eye contact with the person in question. Like… GRAARAAARAAAHHH!!!
I wanna kiss him and hold him tight and watch the tears flow from his eyes as he finally feels the touch of a woman-
Okay, Batman: City of Madness is GREAT so far, and not just because the writer understands one of the most fundamental aspects of Bruce's personality - he is a deeply annoying person to team up with. Absolutely unbearable. Court of Owls Dude back there is already regretting this alliance.
I recently met Jennika in the idw comics and now i have Family Web thoughts.
(i had said a while ago that i probably wouldn't add Jennika or Venus until i knew more about them. Well here we are. for jennika at least. Still haven't met Venus (if she's even in the idw comics. everyone else is so i kinda expect to see her at some point) but i have a way of adding her in as well, which i might do regardless.)
I'm not sure i have words enough today to explain my entire thought process on Jennika here, but i'm going to certainly try. under the cut b/c it might end up rambling
Jennika is the turtles' bio little sister born months after their disappearance. I'm not sure if Lou knew about her before everything went down (i'm thinking not since i'd imagine it was fairly new news to even Mama and she just didn't have the time to tell him.)
Her Spider traits are visibly subtle unless she is actively showing them off. Her eyes are red (and can be entirely red w/ a bit of a glow like mama's spider eyes) and her teeth are pointed. She can also stick to surfaces (which she does a lot) and she might do webs like mikey (i'm still debating that one.)
Jennika grew up fairly isolated b/c Mama already lost her other four and she didn't want to risk loosing Jennika as well. She had tutors for everything. She excels in dance class and when she showed interest in martial arts, she was given a teach and excelled in that too.
She idolizes her mother and, having grown up being told about her older brothers (and promises that they would be reunited one day) she idolizes them as well. Well, she idolizes the versions of them she's mentally imagined over the last 12 years. So meeting them in person would be a bit of a shock since she was expecting four perfect brothers and, instead, got four goobers who think that even frozen pizza is a delicacy.
She can already use her mystics pretty reliably (via a mystic conduit like the boys' weapons). Hers is basically just shadow clones that she can (maybe) mystically switch places with when needed.
She usually hangs out on the ceiling of mama's office when she's not in classes. But, once she turned 13, was finally able to convince Mama to let her help a little more directly. Since then she has posing as Mama's assistant (though mama insists that she must use a clone if the task is anything other than standing next to Mama. Jennika doesn't always listen to this rule.)
I might have more, but i can't think of it right now. so just enjoy some concept art for the turtle's little sister, i guess.
I genuinely want Peter to have like a story that’s all about him healing as an adult. Not completely, that would take forever but like finding someone he can feel normal with, a desire he constantly complains about in almost every iteration. Someone who he can do normal things with that is also helpful if not supportive of his life as Spidey (You can tell I really liked Chat)
He wants a life he can truly live and it would be nice to have an issue have that as a subplot. Whatever Spider-Man is doing is completely separate from what Peter has going on. His partner, friend, whatever, gets he practically has two separate lives and is truly patient. They would wait for him after a scouting or fight. Be okay with less lavish planned dates and get he is going to miss things. They signed up for this when dating a hero and they understand it.
Peter deserves for once to have someone consistently and overwhelmingly be in his corner. To be ready to sacrifice like him but at the same time remind him that he is Peter before he is Spider-Man, not only for them but for himself.
i cannot believe i havent talked about how much I hate this my jaw DROPPED when I read it and I almost didn't finish the run 😭 women proposing to men gives me the heebie jeebies Bad. because it's always a hail mary to try and save the relationship but it Never Works!!!
look @ the reasons iris gives - it's like she's annoyed that she has to ask. these r not good foundations for a marriage!
i understand wanting them married again but since marriage has shifted from being about money - which it would have been in the silver age when iris + barry were first married - to love + legality, there's less incentive for women to be married. especially a career oriented woman like iris.
if her reasonings were something like i need financial security (barry is maybe loaded now??) or taxes or power of attorney i would understand. but marriage will not fix communication issues. and let's be very real statistically marriage does not benefit women. it kills them.
does iris have friends?? if one of my friends said that they were planning this it would be an emergency situation. im talking 51/50 (not really because I don't trust hospitals but u get it)
anyone would have told her that this was a bad idea (not that she would listen) linda would Love to talk about this with her! where are the girls mayday mayday diva down!!
and then when barry says yes im supposed to be happy for them..... free iris...... and barry tbh. free them from the shackles of heteronormativity!
and barry's face here pisses me off so bad HOWWWW is that your reaction
and i wanna know what's in the box. it has to be HER engagement ring right? men normally don't wear one but id be down if she had one for him.
im just lucky they didnt have her get down on one knee I would've been in jeremy adams mentions. i don't think he understands how the interactions he writes between women and their partners are being perceived (see also: hal carol and nathan)
I care them so much. Fuck you Call of Duty these are my oc's now <3 Soooo this is very much based on @azraeldreki's fanfic, but the scenario is of my own invention 😆 I imagine it'd happen sometime after chapter 3, but before the events of chapter 8.
What can I say? I like some cute characters doing some silly banter :3
"And then you just flash 'em a big smile, like this! Loads of likes instantly!"
"I can see why you had so many followers, Gucci! You're a real prime pedigree!"
"Ugh, gimme a break. You show dogs are all the same..."
~~~
i was gonna shade this and add a background, then i got lazy ygtvfbhnj
just a silly little doodle of my favorite characters from tony fleecs' comic, stray dogs: gucci, earl, and henry! not to spoil the story, but gucci and henry 100% get rehomed together and are back in the spotlight ;w;
yes, i want to see dick grayson get angry because he deserves to get angry and express that anger but also i think it's really cool and realistic that we always see him push it down.
dick lost his parents when he was 9 or 12, depending on the comic you read. there's a ton of research out there that shows that losing one of/both of your parents at a young age can cause abandonment issues. like, serious abandonment issues. sure, they didn't leave by choice, but it doesn't change the fact that the two most important people still left you alone. and yeah, he had bruce, but as much as bruce tried, he wasn't a parent.
so dick, realistically, would have abandonment issues. and there's also a lot of research that shows that sometimes- not all the time, but sometimes -people with grief-related abandonment issues are terrified of showing their anger because that means people might leave them. ya know, people pleasing. and this happened! several times! anytime we see dick get mad/make people mad, they treat him terribly. even if he was justified, even if it wasn't his fault (like bruce making his siblings think he was dead). dick is shown over and over that if he gets mad, the people he loves will treat him badly or leave him.
and i know comics aren't realistic, especially batfamily ones. not at all. but i think it's kind of cool that even if it's an accident, dick grayson forcing himself to push down his anger is really realistic for someone with grief-related abandonment issues and idk man it's sad and a tragedy and i eat it up when characters behave in ways that readers can trace back to their trauma
Dick Grayson's talent for manipulation literally brings the world to its knees.
Part 1 post
My absolute favorite trait about Dick aside from his craziness is his ability to control every single person in existence. The best part is, he's so clever in the way that he does it that people almost never notice.
Bart Allen
"Oh! Ahh..you're trying to get my DNA sample. You need my spit! Ha! That's such a Dick Grayson thing to do."
Bart knows!! Dick's brilliantly sly okay. Honey catches more flies that vinegar? He takes it so far that breaks he the ceiling with it because by the time he's done, people don't even know they've been manipulated. And if they do, then what can they do about it? He always wins.
With friends and family he does it to make them feel better without being so overt and discomforting them.
Justice League: Road to Dark Crisis
Jon came to him when he was feeling lost and upset and Dick set up the perfect conditions to encourage him and pick him up. He's just so good at doing what he's doing but he does it for all the right reasons.
But the extent Dick can go trick and manipulate someone is off the charts. A virtuoso.
In a Titans comic, Dick literally spent MONTHS acting depressed and weak after Donna, Wally, and Garth were kidnapped to another dimension by a villain just so he could trick the villain into thinking that his career was over and bring him into the same dimension so Dick could take him down.
He fooled everyone.
Teen Titans: The Silver Age TBP 2 Part #1
"Batman taught me how to be a totally convincing actor! So if the only way you could send me here with your ring was if I filled my brain with evil thoughts, I just faked it! My facial expression was pure evil-but my mind remained pure good."
MONTHS.
He planned, pretended, and calculated every single fiber of his own mind and body until the whole world was fooled by his acting. He tricked an interdimensional being who had psychic access. That means he was so extraordinarily manipulative, he can control his own thoughts inside his head to trick someone else. Voldemort's legilimens has nothing on Dick's talent.
Like Bart, sometimes his allies are aware of this like with Selina-
Gotham City Sirens Issue #23
Selina's literally having a mental breakdown trying not to fall for Dick's manipulation and tricks.
But even if they know he's manipulating them, they still are forced to fall for it anyway.
Gotham City Sirens Issue #23
"Damn it."
Like a goldilocks mad scientist - he does it just right.
His acting is just so on point that he outschemes the schemer.
When the Crime Syndicate (Superwoman, Ultraman, Owlman, Power ring, etc) arrive on Earth to take it over when Dick is Batman, Dick needs to do something fast. But to make things worse, there's a being that's so powerful, that both the Crime Syndicate and Justice League combined have a snowball's chance in hell of defeating him.
So what does Dick do? He runs the game.
Justice League of America (2006) Issue #52
Justice League of America (2006) Issue #52
"Of course he had a plan the whole time. He's Batman. He always has a plan."
Justice League of America (2006) Issue #52
He tricks everyone.
Justice League of America (2006) Issue #52
And in the end, the Justice League wins and Dick saves the world.
Justice League of America (2006) Issue #52
I love how they characterized Owlman as a snake because that would make Dick a mongoose since mongoose eats snakes. And do you know what Mongoose represent in folklore? Action, adventure, boldness, fearlessness, impulsiveness, independence, optimism, rebellion, resistance, resourcefulness, speed, adaptation, agility, quickness, intelligence and wit. All characteristics that define him.
He plays the world like a chessboard, always five steps ahead.
He always has an ace hidden up his sleeve.
His thoughts are always masked behind a disarming smile.
He has mastered the art of manipulation.
And that's while he's outright fighting. His subtlety is just so seductive.
Take a look at the way he smoothly evades answering in this panel -
Grayson Issue #9
He's so smooth. She's constantly on the watch but she instantly fell head over heels for his charms in a half a heartbeat, that's just how good he is.
Grayson Issue #10
He's a master manipulator who knows exactly what to say and how to act to always end up winning.
It's seriously such a shame that one of his greatest skills and talents isn't talked about more because this man?! Flawless.
He's the spy everyone on TV wishes they could be. He's the type of spy people read about in history books and marvel at the ease, grace, and legendary story he leaves behind. He's the spy that everyone knows and dreams of in their fantasies.
Nightwing (2016)
And oh how they so are.
He can just get people to do whatever he wants.
There's a reason why Batman's only contingency plan against Nightwing is "Let's hope he fucks up." Because with his intelligence, skill, power, charisma, and raw talent - he's goddamn unstoppable.
