OH BOY DO I

In the original draft of this chapter, Wolf stays a, uh, wolf until like the 4th update. Instead of actually managing to get his teeth on the master sword, Loft threw him off immediately. The Deku Tree still said the line about all three of them being heroes and Slate is like. “Including the fucking dog????!” I thought it was very funny but a) it made some scenes later down the line a huge pain and b) I was tired of drawing wolves ALDKDKD

You may have noticed Wolf’s scowling in the bg of almost every panel. That’s kind of just his face, but also right now my guy is nursing the world’s biggest migraine from popping the shadow crystal out of his skull. He can stay wolfmode for a while, but it’s still technically a curse. It’s not consequence free, and there’s an upper limit for how long he can spend in that form. Anyway, cut him some slack if he’s a little prickly for a bit.

There were a lot of comments about Loft being strong enough to toss a wolf over his head lol. My hc is that he’s one of, if not the strongest Link sans any magic items like power bracelets or gauntlets. He’s actually not even as strong now as he was during his quest. Wolf maybe has him beat now, but he can still get tossed lolol

It might seem like Slate’s really taken everything that happened at the end of ch1 in stride, but don’t worry. He’s simmering. Loft is grateful for the opportunity to get distracted by something else. Maybe that’s why he was so willing to approach the wild animal he’s never seen before lol

This maybe goes without saying based on the events of the last two updates, but Slate never had wolf link with him during the events of botw. He doesn’t recognize Wolf.

I’m really glad ppl seem to be liking the colors bc I struggled with them so hard on both updates 🫠literally days of me turning to my roommate and going “I think I’ve never made anything worse” and them going “it looks good stop being dramatic” WKDJDK I have this thing where if I had an idea in my head for what an update should look like, and what I produce doesn’t meet it somehow, I start seeing in fucking. shrimp colors. Posting always gives me a confidence boost back lol.

these pages were cursed in general bc like. this doesn’t usually happen but I think I redrew every panel in this update at least 5 times each. that’s part of why it ended up being late SKDJF

I REALLY like the idea of being in the presence of the Triforce and having access to its power being this eldritch, divinely horrifying experience. The sort of thing that is impossible to explain to anyone and also haunts you forever. Loft spends a lot of time actively trying not to think about the Triforce. Just, like, remember that about him.

Like how tears in reality are shown through holes in the literal comic panels, I tried to show the concept of reality bending in the form of a panel stretching and twisting like a ribbon ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ I hope that came across. Triforce lore varies a bit from game to game, but I’ve come up with my own internal logic for bonus links that combines all the ideas I like lolol. We’ll learn more about it in due time!

I also really like this parallel :D I intentionally set up the panels so past and present loft would line up like this. i love getting to draw flashback links it’s so fun to think of ways to convey what they used to be like, and how their quests might have gone for them. Past Loft’s not having a great time by the time he reaches this point lol

Can I request headcanons for bg3 (basically the whole party) for the holiday seasons? (Fem aligned pronouns) Where reader was isekai'd from our world and she asks the party about holidays and is kind of bummed out theres nothing really similar to Christmas since its one of her favorite holidays. So When it gets cold out reader buys everyone a gift and wraps it with birch bark to surprise everyone? If you dont want to do the holiday thing maybe just reader who gets Isekai'd and has zero idea what to do and is really scared of everything because she has no idea whats going on?

Astarion

looks at his Christmas gift “what in the hells is that?” “Is it poisonous or does it explode?” He just can’t fathom you’re just giving him a present. No ones ever been kind to him let alone share festive gifts. Eventually he will show up at your door naked “Is this a ‘Christmas’ enough present for you?”

He can’t stop laughing when you convince the rest of the camp to wear Christmas hats, “Clowns.” He calls them. You have to nudge him hard for him to stop ruining the festive spirit.

⁠”Is this Santa of yours a vampire? I mean..if he only comes out at night and punishes the naughty ones,” he gives you a smirk

Withers

"Ah the annual rite of gift-giving on the solstice. I do not value such material possessions but the sentiment is not lost on me." He will accept your gift but you will never see him use it.

Will show up at camp wearing a small Santa hat on his bald head. Will not answer any questions about it.

Sometimes you think if you hear him humming jingle bells but you can never make out the words because it's in some archaic dead language.

Laezel

touched your present with a stick “What is that? Are you trying to kill me?” She has a disgusted expression. Why would you spend your time getting her a gift instead of finding a solution for the parasite?

After a while of convincing, she’s ready to open it. She has a soft smile and doesn’t let it show that it actually made her warm even for a second.

After you sit her down and tell her the Christmas lore she rolls her eyes “Your kind disappoints me.” You tell her about the magic of Christmas as she smirks condescendingly “Whatever go do your thing, I’ll watch.”

Once she learns the carols and traditions there is no stopping her. She’s a woman who believes in long-standing institutes and traditions and she will uphold yours with pride too when she gets used to it.

Halsin

the way this man would hug you after receiving a gift ugh. you cannot tell me gift giving isn't one of his love languages, so he'd really really appreciate it

he keeps a very open mind while listening to you talking about Christmas and the traditions you practice. Being a druid he has his own rituals and beliefs which others judge so he is open

whittles you a wooden figurine of your favorite animal or of your pet from your world if you can describe it in detail

he would love the gift exchanging part of the tradition. he’d get everyone a gift, not as intricate as the one for you though. Maybe more so around herbs, flowers and potions

Shadowheart

"oh my, a present.. for me?" she'd be surprised that you even thought of getting her a gift

when she unwraps the gift she'd have a small smile on her face, "thank you y/n. this is very thoughtful of you. i'll remember this."

she’d be tad jealous that your beliefs are so fun. she’d lowkey wish Shar/Selune had celebrations that got people together

Gale

"A present? for me?", being locked up in his tower for so long he is quite taken aback.

"Why, where are my manners, thank you y/n. I do wish you told me about this tradition of yours. I'd have gotten you something. No matter, once we get the guests in our brains out, I'll make sure to get you something."

he'd use his magic to try and conjure up snow no matter where the party is camping

Minsc

Minsc gets very excited by whatever you get him since it's the thought that counts. "Look at what y/n got us Boo"

he sees how your eyes light up as you talk about Christmas so he gets equally excited for you

Minsc would dress up Boo in a red hat and green jacket (don’t ask how he got them)

nooooooot the best gift giver. he isn’t crafty, so he may end up making you arrows and a bow. but his smile is so big and bright that you’ll have to pretend to really like it

Wyll

He surprises you with a thoughtful gift before you can even give him one. His noble upbringing covered the strange Christmas customs of your land.

"To have you in my life is gift enough, my love. You didn't have to get me anything, your smile alone would have sufficed." Nonetheless, he accepts your gift with an elegant bow.

You both do a slow waltz to every single Christmas song you hear, no matter what the tempo or the lyrics are. You are simply too lost in each others' eyes to care.

Karlach

"Presents! For me? You're kidding!" She would run around camp like an excited toddler with her gifts. You would have to remind her to calm down so she wouldn't burn down the place.

"Thank you, soldier. I love it so much," she would grin at you. She would ask a lot of questions about Christmas and fall in love with the holiday. Gifts, food and wine, all of it would sound amazing to her after spending so many years in Avernus.

She would get really into the celebrations and her joy would be infectious. Watching her bust out her hip-hop moves during Silent Night would be the highlight of your evening.

Jaheira

"Oh, you got me a gift? How nice. See you can be kind to your elders." She would make fun of you in the moment but appreciate the gift nonetheless.

"It's not a knitted blanket for grandma, is it? I'm not ready to retire just yet."

Being a druid, she's not interested in the religious elements or traditions but joins in heartily for the eggnog and anything else booze-related.

Briar Valley Lore HC:

The powerful aura of the Draconias isn't the only reason people fear them. The Draconias have a habit of letting rumors go uninterrupted, more interested in simply seeing what happens. Allowing such things to remain without punishment simply because they're interesting is a trait shared by the royal family members.

As a result, you get a few tales like this:

Queen Malefica, grandmother of the heir apparent and future king of the abyss, spins and weaves a banner that reaches back to the end of time. It records the fate of all in Briar Valley, both that which has passed and that which is to come. If you cross the queen, she will weave you an ill fate.

Reality:

Malefica, at some point in her youth, started weaving a temperature blanket and has not stopped since. Thanks to her powerful magic, she can keep it going even when she is busy with other matters. Its color shifts across the day to show what temperatures occurred at the same time in the past. Sometimes, you can see very dramatic shifts in color when a Draconia threw a fit that changed the weather, or when something good happened that blew away all chill and storm.

But really- it's just a temperature blanket.

She adores the story her loyal subjects have made, though. She doesn't want to spoil the fun. ;)

need help for rewrite

so ... im still stuck trying to decide who fits what sage role best, mainly its a tie between purah and monk miz kyoshia for the role of spirit sage, current plan is that the spirit temple is located beneath the forgotten plateau and is accessed via shrine of life/the DLC dungeon from kyoshia but its broken and leads into the temple

purah pro

female character in a mostly male cast in the sages roles

tech enthusiast = tie in with mineru

kinda hinted at in the game to be a sage but then isnt (imo)

possible tie in with josha so she actually gets something to do

possibly fun companion for a dungeon

con

already gives link his shiekah prosthetic arm and its abilities + upgrades

doesnt seem that spiritual all things considered

what would her ability be?/would a guardian laser fit her??

doesnt seem to have any magical capability without her tech (then again does mineru?)

monk kyoshia pro

duplicated moveset with koga, what would be the most logical ability to gain from him and in turn whats more iconic for koga? (as in AoC tho non canon koga does a laser thingy too, would be neat to pick that up here, then again kyoshia and koga both teleport like nobodies business)

lore clash bc he should know too much, he could tell everyone whats going on robbing away alot of the mystery (and if not mentioned, is there a good excuse?) plus would render alot of the research into new tech useless bc he might know all of that .. unless being monk doesnt mean also knowing the tech ..

possibly less fun companion for a dungeon

additionally, zelda mainly being the sage of light (perhaps the time thing being just an inate thing the shiekah arm can do bc its a more developed version of the stasis rune) could also mean she could do a laser attack as we see rauru do, then again the moldora attack is not part of the rewrite so if ever used by rauru its when he and ganondorf fight one on one in one of the new memories which brings up the problem of what would be the most logical ability to gain from either, is the teleport the yiga do not a little .. to little impactful for someone like koga? also kyoshia can do the same, again a moveset overlap and .. if it was purah instead, what is her ability (same problem with paya, she doesnt have any ability either .. tho i could imagine giving you a shield like sidon does in canon and change sidon ability to be something healing related bc of mipha?)

if i took kyoshias ability to make clones of himself as an ability (since you dont have the sages running around you in the rewrite) as a distraction tech and battle support, would it fit koga more to have a laser attack or the teleport? i kinda like the idea of giving zelda the laser attack bc she rarely gets an overly offensive role

more thoughts, if it was kyoshia, couldnt he just waltz around with you all the time bc he doesnt have any leadership roles he needs to furfill? or perhaps he cant leave the area of the shrine of life, hes a mummy after all, would that be a good excuse? (thought about impa too bc it would be cool to have an old character kicking ass in the main team, but after giving her role to paya she doesnt have any reason why she wouldnt be able to tag along everywhere too)

DIVINE WARRIORS, because mfers keep talking about them.

TW, for like, sacrifices, and attempted child-murder/sacrifice... and child-on-mother cannibalism... if it counts as cannibalism when the child is a god.

They’re all gods or god-adjacent. Everyone talks about how they are making them not all gods, but fuck that man I find this fun.

They all reach their godhood in different ways, though. and godhood is something that is... complicated. fluid, even.

i'm just gonna talk about Shad (Judgement, in LR) and Irene, tho, bc otherwise this post would be mega fucking long. and i'm pretty sure i have a Kul'Zak ask anyways.

Y'know how people say 'the world is your oyster'? Well, the world is shad's egg. literally. He's the Draconic God of Death, and his entity was created in the belly (centre) of the earth, in heat and warmth and magma. He clawed his way out of the world, and this lore is mentioned in the prologue of LR, but his emergence from the core of the earth caused the earth to bunch up, and created mountains and valleys, and ravines. similarly to dropping a pebble into water, his emergence caused literal ripples. which is why most mountains and such are kind of in a radial pattern outwards from the 'belly of the world', which is just a huge fuck-off ravine. That said, not all mountains, because it's been thousands/millions of years since his emergence, and things do change. He was created as a god, before anyone knew what gods were. He was not the first being to exist, Early humans were around to witness his birth, but he is by far one of the most ancient. Hence why his followers call him 'the Ancient'.

Irene was born a god, though she was birthed by human parents. It's a whole situation, really, very lengthy. More about her mother than it really is about Irene. But she was born during the emergence. Her head crowned as Shad's emerged from the earth, and when he had fully freed himself and laid upon the cool ground, Irene was put into her mother's arms. Her and Shad are perfectly the same age, born at the same exact moment, to balance each other out. It's unclear which one sparked the creation of the other, but it doesn't matter. Both were born bloody and screaming, made to match. Irene was, however, not born looking human. She was a creature from day one. And she was ugly asf too bc like, she's feathered in her creature form, and have you ever seen fresh baby birds? Them mfers ugly. So, reasonably, her parents' people went 'aa' and decided to sacrifice her to the juvenile god of death bc they have volcanoes now, they can do that. However, Irene's mother was fiercely over-protective of her, and instead hid her in the woods to keep her out of the grasps of those wishing to harm her. She meant to go back and get her, so that she could find somewhere safe for her, but Irene's mother kind of got caesar'd (happy ides of march for two days ago), for trying to keep the fucked up little thing she birthed. Her body was dumped into the forest, and Irene ended up finding it and going 'oh a snack'. so... that's fun. However, as is how blood magic works, when one of magic consumes the heart of another, they consume their entirety. It was how Irene claimed a human form, by eating a human heart, and whilst it wasn't particularly an instantaneous transformation, it also lead to her becoming a mother. If not for eating her own mother's heart, she never would've had the maternal traits that ending up characterising her for most of her existence.

DnD AGSZC. You know you have HCs. Sharing is caring.

oh well, twist my arm why don'tcha!

So to start, Sephiroth is one of THOSE players. You know the ones: makes broken characters that seemingly can do anything by level five; consistently has a rather depressing backstory that drives their character to be a dick to everyone for the sake of "roleplay". one of THOSE PLAYERS (see also: the Chocobro... or as Salty has pointed out to me, the Genebro.)

Likes to dable with his Characters. Though his favorite remains his Dragonborn Oathbraker Paladin, named Azriel who turned on the party in one paticular campaign to join forces with a powerful female Dragonborn Litch... I don't thing I really need to tell you why.

Angeals a pain because he wants to play "correctly". he's not competative but heis a rulebook warrior. Cloud has banned the Player's handbook from the table for this very reason. Angeal complains about "house rules" and the "rule of fun" all the time, even while activly enjoing the game. He's a pain.

He usually plays a Paladine and his drive for adventure is always "to avenge/ make his father proud. he once pushed the boat out at Clouds behest and broke his oath, and it didn't go... Well. to put it lightly everyone at the table cried (esspecially Zack) and Angeal had to make a new character.

Genesis is predictable to the point of hilarity. always a Bard or a Warlock. Always a Tiefling. Always gender ambiguous. if the games not starting withthe party finding Gen drunk and bemoning exsistence in a tavern then are they really playing DnD? He will always be playing a College of Tragedy bard (Thank you Matthew Mercer.) He's never pushed the boat out once in all the time they've played and if he can squeeze a loveless Quote in where he can he's gunna do it.

Genesis is however the table flirt and the Horny player. he's rolling to seduce the dragon. Cloud has Vowed never to let them play Curse of Strahd... EVER.

Zack is never predictable in his Character build. In the beginning he went similar to Angeal except a human young fighter with dreams of being a hero, But now he likes to dabble with his classes sometimes and mess around in terms of race. Cloud likes Zacks approach to DnD cause it keeps him on his toes.

His Favorite build thus far is his Halfling Rough/Monk multiclass he based off of a little girl he met in Wutai (you know who.).

When Kunsels Available to play he plays as a College of Lore Bard. He knows everything and Cloud is pretty sure He's been spying on his notes between games.

They are all suprisingly big on Roleplay which is fine by cloud cause it makes his job more fun. He's made them cry multiple times with his storylines, and His NPC voices are unparalelled. concidering he's not expressive in his day to day, he comes alive as DM.

There has been some massive in jokes that make other people question if they are sane or not. things like all the boys mimicing Clouds voice yelling "DON'T FUCK THE DRAGON!" everytime they gointo monster dens. Or looking Angeal up and Down and saying "I don't have the hit points to clinb you like a tree," .

Genesis begs Cloud to make a LOVELESS based Campaign... Cloud doesn't want to admit he already has one, hes just afraid Gen will pick holes in it.

Zack is a bastard for casting Fireball when he doesn't have the hit points to survive his own spell. the one time he played a wizard he cast it, did 39 points of damage and only JUST survived by one singular hit point.

Kunsel has the magic touch where dice are concerned. He constantly rolls consistently high rolls.

Cloud is absoloutly sure Sephiroth uses loaded dice. but he can't prove it.

Angeal always seems to end up getting attacked by mimics. doesn'tmatter how many times it happens, he always has too much trust in everyday objects.

hc for the vongola kids’ favorite video game genres / titles, pt 1 (nami trio); aiming for late 90s-mid 10s which is the general timeline for the series.

tsuna:

mixed PC and console, mostly console (PS2 or Game Cube). already canon that he likes rhythm games (which is so cute and kinda funny considering how uncoordinated he is), so he’s a big fan of Beatmania IIDX, Pop’n Music, osu!, Taiko no Tatsujin, etc. pretty good at them and they help calm his ADHD down. plays Katamari for similar stimulation reasons with the loud cheerful music and straightforward structure.

tried playing DDR and almost actually died. he avoids any footwork ones in the arcade; playing in public stresses him out in general so he usually will buy or rent games for home. Lambo got a Wii for his birthday and between the two of them, the controllers were lodged in the drywall by the end of the day after playing Wii Sports.

likes the Animal Crossing series because it’s cozy, doesn’t get too serious with in-game achievements but plays regularly. doesn’t time travel; got yelled at by Resetti once when he was younger and shut the game off on accident, he cried so hard he almost threw up. feels bad if he leaves his villagers alone too long. when he didn’t have friends growing up, he’d really look forward to in-game holidays and birthdays (sob). trying to collect the squirrels.

will play Smash with Lambo; that’s what helped them bond when Lambo first moved in. fighting games kinda stress him out so this is the most he’ll really play them. his main is Kirby, or Luigi because nobody picks Luigi. :( low to mid-tier.

also they play Minecraft together and are both pretty terrible at it but have fun. introduced it to Gokudera, Yamamoto, and Ryohei and they’ll play it with Lambo when either (or all) of them are babysitting him. Tsuna’s constantly on the death alert feed, usually dying from falling into lava. somehow slayed the Ender Dragon.

gokudera:

PC gamer trash, uses emulators because he can’t afford a console. loves difficult, convoluted RPGs and RTS (gag). does not like online lobbies. horror and sci-fi fanatic, especially survival-esque games that require puzzle-solving like Resident Evil, Silent Hill, and Bioshock. is one of those freaks who illegally downloads unsettling, semi-dangerous games (like Lostboy, Sad Satan, LSD: Dream Emulator) and plays them with HyperCam on because he’s convinced he’s going to see a ghost. has had to install like 5 firewalls and rebuild his PC once.

Demon’s Souls / Dark Souls loser. has a freakish knowledge of where everything is, including short-cuts and secrets. he focuses on magic and will discard and replace weapons without much thought. knows lore simply from the item descriptions. really strategic, memorizes enemy move sets, but will go the hard way because it’s fun. utterly deranged. it’s honestly pretty impressive but it kinda scares tsuna because how many hours did you put into this? how did you kill that boss so quickly? where is your armor, gokudera-kun—

he doesn’t like most FPS games because they can trigger his PTSD if they’re too realistic, but killing endless undead/demons/monsters scratches a weird itch for him so he can play DOOM, and L4D w/ his vongola friends eventually (he’s constantly reviving Tsuna). really likes Half Life and Portal because aliens and puzzles alongside bip-bip. will play Hotline Miami w/ Shittopi if only for the god-tier music but has to be really stoned with her, else he gets uncomfy w/ the content being so close to his old hitman lifestyle.

hates platformers with every fiber of his being. says they’re for children but really he’s so impatient he sucks at them. the only one who plays Minecraft outside group sessions. has started building late at night when his insomnia is bad; really likes the soothing music and will leave it on even when he’s not playing. makes replicas of structures from his favorite nerd media (currently working on the Enterprise).

yamamoto:

pure console lad, likes the Genesis, the Dreamcast, and the GameCube; his dad has a few older consoles that he’s also inherited. in similar hand-me-down style and true to canon, he owns a ridiculous number of late 90s/early 00s baseball video games. can play them for hours and gets really serious about them.

a Sonic stan. does enjoy some Mario Kart and Smash with the boys (mains Ness or Link, mid-high tier)—but he was a Sonic kid and really wanted Soap Shoes growing up. likes the OG 8-bit side-scrollers like Sonic Adventure 2 the most but his ADHD clings to super fast, timing-based shit like Sonic Heroes. also enjoys Rayman but gets stuck a lot.

weirdly good at Super Monkey Ball and knows how to short-cut in ways previously unknown to man. will launch himself across the level and win in less than 3 seconds. how? “idk just lucky i guess.” plays Baby.

has a few broken, shitty titles like Dark Castle, Pen Pen Trilcelon, Puyo Pop Fever. will make Gokudera play them just to infuriate him; this also applies to annoying platformers, it’s just funny to watch him rage quit. generally will troll Gokudera in video games to get a rise out of him, like dropping gravel on him or flooding his caves in Minecraft; never enough to actually ruin the game but enough to annoy him.

started playing Hitman as a joke but is spooky good at it despite not playing FPS/stealth games. “hey gokudera did you ever get to dress up as—” “for the last time, NO.” is generally pretty bad at games with a lot of details/strategy (other than baseball) because he starts tuning out. strong-arms Gokudera into tag-teaming hard puzzles and co-op games in general to build teamwork.

Cat Doki! (Pt. 1?)

I'm gonna make two color designs for all of them! The more realistic colors are gonna be for the Warrior cats au, which isn't that thought out too cuz it was just a fun idea I had, so for those interested, don't expect much ^_^"

Anywho, I present Cat Natsuki! She's a Pixie bob × Singapura cross, so she's smoll but stronk! Her Warrior name is Berryhope! I did my best to make it as close as possible to the etymology of her name, but many weren't sounding too smooth, so I just kept a half of it and chose another warrior name that fits her character! ^_^

She's a herb gatherer/general helper of the healer/s from ShadowClan. Outside the clan, she gets looks, whispers, and teases for her small stature. Has Shadowclan's territory been declining that badly? Aren't they treating their new kits well? But the other cats and apprentices look rather healthy–as Shadowclan cats can go–so is it only her?

She definitely gets tired explaining that it's genetics making her small, and some clan mates would go on to say she's stronger than she appears, being able to carry so many herbs on herself no matter where she got them.

BerryHope had a long interest in mixing herbs, especially when mixed with fresh kill, but not enough that she wanted to be a Healer for the clan as she's seen how stressful and just draining it can be, and she thinks being a Healers helper and gatherer is just as great. A lot of times she'd experiment with mixing herbs and fresh kill, but not really for their healing properties, but taste. It intrigued and confused a lot of cats, but in the end all were amazed at the taste of her crafts. It's the thing she's most proud of!

But to stick to the canon ddlc lore, her father won't be too great her either. He doesn't lay claw on her as he would in canon act 2 (cuz I think that lore is only on act 2, like Monika changed it? Correct me pls–) Her small stature greatly unsatisfied him, believing she's a runt and won't even survive one Leafbare. Her mother was a rouge and was a former Singapura Kittypet before she joined the clan and they met. BerryHope's father just wished none of their sires got her size and just his build and her beautiful pelt, so he looked down at BerryKit and pretty much just doesn't really pay her that mind.

I don't know if you watch Helluva Boss, but considering og Peccantum (not hazbin version) is space-themed and you mention he decorates his room like space,,, it's totally improbable but WHAT IF HE MET STOLAS or Octavia!!!!!!! I just think it would be so wholesome for him even though the Goetias don't interact with sinners

So in his pre-afterlife lore you mention he worked his way up a cult but got taken advantage of by the leader and stripped of all the power he'd accumulated. He's obviously suuuuuper power hungry so it may fog up his thinking, but did he not learn from that??? why is he cozying up to Al (like eating the rotten venison just to impress him) if the last time he did that, it resulted in him losing everything

Peccantum wears Alastor's colours bc soul ownership and everything, but during the 7 years when Peccantum never heard from him, how relaxed did he get? Did he still wear the colours then or did that begin when he was oh so kindly volunteered for "bellhop" services?

If Peccantum's red string theories lead to conspiracies like "Alastor is just Lucifer in disguise", how off the mark is he about who owns Al's soul? Like would he be crazy enough to suspect Razzle n Dazzle or something or would he hit close to the mark?

On a related note, do you have a HC for who owns his soul?

Sorry it took so long to answer this! I was drawing a comic and it actually added context to a lot of these questions/answered them, so I figured I'd save it until after I was done. There's a lot here so I'm gonna answer it in numbered sections!

1. Names & Nicknames

I don't really have a nickname for him, I usually call him by his full name lol. Peccy is cool lol. His name is pronounced with hard C's. So Pec-cant-um. Or, in case of the nickname, Peck-y

Fun Fact! Peccantum isn't his 'real' name. Like Angel and Husk, he took a new name once he died. His other name was actually shorter (and an actual name too). Peccantum is actually a mix of the words peccatum, meaning sin or transgression in Latin, and incant, in Latin meaning enchant. Basically, magical sin, which sums up Peccantum pretty well actually!

3. Meeting Stolas

I am a fan of helluva! Have been ever since it came out! Despite that I haven't actually thought about this until now.

Peccantum, absolute nerd that he is, would probably be fascinated by Stolas and his powers. Like talking about specific spells, how long it takes to set up, magic of the stars, etc. I feel like they would have a VERY long conversation about magic and space and shit cause Stolas is lonely and Peccantum is very enthusiastic about this topic. Octavia, meanwhile, would get a long list of places in the human world with little to no light pollution. For excellent star viewing, of course.

4. Cozying up to Alastor

The short answer? No, absolutely not, Peccantum learned nothing XD

The long answer? It's complicated and messy. Peccantum, at that time, went into a bad situation because it was familiar to him. Blood, illicit murders, and strange dealings were all part of what Peccantum was taught to do. He thought he could handle whatever Alastor would ask of him. That it wouldn't matter in the end because Alastor would eventually get rid of him.

He wasn't expecting the Radio Demon to vanish.

5. Clothing Choices

You may have noticed during Checking In that Peccantum is wearing a completely different outfit before he's pulled into the hotel! That is Alastor's doing! Because Peccantum wasn't working for him dressed like that.

At first Peccantum was completely on edge because he was expecting Alastor to show up. After that first year, Alastor could call on him at any time! That's a scary thing to constantly have in the back of your mind. But then, Alastor just... didn't? There were rumors that Alastor had fallen to angels and Alastor wasn't showing up? It left Peccantum completely to his own devices.

Slowly, very slowly, Peccantum started making choices for himself, and learning how to live. He got a shitty job, a shitty apartment, but for the first time in years he was actually living, making choices of his own. And he found he kinda liked it. Not everything, of course, but making your own path in life, finding out what you like and who you are... Well. It was nice, for a time.

Peccantum still has his own clothes but he's aware that what Alastor dressed him in is his uniform.

6. Who owns Alastor's soul?

Tbh, I think it's Lilith. Maybe that's the obvious answer but like... That's the only viable candidate we have rn.

Peccantum would be suspecting Lilith and Lucifer, mainly because of the specifics of the deal Alastor made with Charlie. He didn't take her soul, meaning there's some benefit to having her free.... Or the more likely option; Alastor can't. Whatever deal he's under restricts him from taking Charlie's soul. The only people Peccantum knows who care about Charlie enough to fuck with the Radio Demon would be her parents.

I think he would lean more towards Lucifer, though. It would explain the immediate hostility between him and Alastor. Lucifer's ignorance could be feigned to piss off Alastor even more.

However, Peccantum would also keep evidence for Adam and maybe some of the seven deadly sins on the board. He doesn't have enough evidence for them, but he's not going to dismiss those options just yet.

7. Dress up day

Peccantum doesn't own a lot of clothes but he has explored a few other outfits! Here's some of the sketches I made when exploring what he would wear before he came to the hotel.

I do imagine there would be a 'express yourself through clothing choices' activity he would get wrapped up in tho. He can wear just about anything and still look pretty good. Charlie's happy to see Peccantum embracing different styles and exploring! Angel might help pick outfits and push Peccantum out of his comfort zone.

8. Makeup

Peccantum does wear makeup! It's actually pretty new for him, so he's not the best with it and he doesn't go too extreme but... It's kinda fun!

9. Spice or no spice?

I. I have no idea tbh. I'm not an expert in... people flavoring? XD

10. Jumping at shadows

Did you misspell trauma as talents? XD, joking. In all seriousness though, Peccantum is fairly jumpy because he's high strung. He's a very anxious person in general (there are exceptions) and he's in his own head a lot. Sometimes he will forget that other people are there and be surprised when he is reminded of their presence.

11. Errands to Cannibal Colony

Peccantum definitely keeps his head down. Cannibalism in general makes him uneasy, so best to keep out of the way of any hungry citizens who want to try their luck. Peccantum can defend himself, but he'd rather not if he can avoid it. Cannibals travel in packs and the best way to avoid them is to avoid putting a target on your back.

Thankfully, most people there know he's Alastor's, so they leave him be.

12. Alastor and Peccantum

This one is tricky because I wanna explore this more in other comics, but I'll try and give a general overview here.

Their relationship isn't... Healthy. Especially not at first, but Peccantum coming to the hotel does actually put him in a better place. He meets new people, gains friends, and makes a support network that he never had before. On the other hand, he has to deal with Alastor, the constant anxiety of job performance, and deal with/unpack several traumas he's been repressing. It's a mix of good and bad.

Later on, a few months after working at the hotel, I think Alastor does start to warm up to Peccantum some. They become friendlier, not to the point of being friends, but Alastor appreciates the work Peccantum does and trusts him with tasks that he wouldn't have beforehand. By the time the attack on the hotel happens, he trusts Peccantum won't screw him over.

And then the fight with Adam happens.

We don't know what will happen in season 2, and we probably won't for a while, but... I imagine losing that fight with Adam did not help Alastor's insecurities. Personally, I think the Radio Demon is going to close himself off from the others, more than he already has. To feel in control again, he's going to be a lot more strict with his 'employees' and a lot less lenient with Peccantum.

Peccantum, of course, isn't going to know this and would take it as a sign that he's failing Alastor, something he's deathly afraid of. His anxiety would spike and the almost neutral relationship he had with Alastor would turn unhealthy again. There would be a regression of progress.

Whatever happens in season 2 would def affect their relationship tho, so I can't say much more than that for now.

HB Reimagined HCs: The Ars Goetia

Randomly had some thoughts back to my HB Reimagined AU atm, and since I already chatted a bit about Stolas earlier... who wants to hear some lore I had in mind for the Ars Goetia society itself?

*To clarify, as this is ofc an AU this is not meant to be a criticism against the canon HB's lore or however... just something I wanted to make for the fun of it 'cause well- I love demon birds lol*

-Many, many millennia ago... the Ars Goetia were descended from fallen angels, cast aside from the great war to serve loyally under Lucifer's will. Being renown for their beauty, grace and feathered forms even back when serving Heaven... overtime they formed into the (mostly) avian high-society folk you see today.

-The Ars Goetia, revered as they are overall, are actually split into their own personal hierarchies based on what powers/roles they serve to King Paimon. Some (aka: Stolas) are tasked with looking after celestial bodies, prophecies, and other forms of black magic... while others (aka: Andrealphus) use elemental spells to provide comfort to their fellow Goetias against the generally toxic Hell environment. On the "bottom" tiers of Goetia society, would be the typical noble-class who'd just socialize with one another, provide gossip/useful tidbits for their admired royalty (aka: Stella through her marriage to Stolas), and keep things "entertaining" to their own standards. It may not provide much "usefulness" in terms of gaining power/resources... but for how dangerous and unpredictable Hell can be, its helpful to at least keep a "peaceful comfort" type of vibe, anyway.

-Marriage within the Ars Goetia is a bit of a... "mixed" bag, primarily done for either political power gain, wealth improvement, and sometimes even for actual-love (though rare, its not impossible given how irl birds can form a "mate-for-life" type of bond). Arranged marriages can be formed from when a pair is either young (childhood-teen years) by their parents/other relatives, or between the couple themselves offering said proposal to eachother once they're matured adults. Other Goetias may have multiple spouses instead of staying strictly monogamous, have same-sex marriages, or even not marry at all (depending on the individual).

-The concept of "precautionary heirs" isn't really a thing since Goetias are among the classes of Hell demons who are widely-considered "immortal"... so with such long lifespans one would expect a Goetia couple to wait a bit in having children (unless they genuinely, truly desire to be parents right away), or just not have any at all if there's no risk in their lives. Stolas was among the older-aged Goetias who only recently decided on starting a family (due to the increase in Heaven's "exterminators" invading Hell); having the premonition in seeing himself "die" in a holy way down the line... hence Octavia being as young as she is rn (though Stella lowkey wanted a kid alot earlier in their marriage, Stolas just didn't have the time to bring up said topic due to his own responsibilities over the stars, herbology, etc.).

-When a Goetia child is conceived, they first start out life through... well, an egg lol. Often coming in a wide variety of spots, colors, patterns, etc... these arrivals would often be celebrated through "nest showers"; taking place with the parents' close companions giving their blessings/gifts to the little one. A common bonding activity at these events is through casting a magical light under the egg, the hue glowing the color of respective embyro's sex (ex. pink for a girl, blue for a boy, sometimes flickering the same/both colors twice if the egg is carrying twins). When it comes time for hatching to begin, typically the egg-laying parent would gather up all the comfiest of blankets/throws/other items to create a "nest" for the egg to incubate in... taking over a good few days until the first few cracks of the shell start to form.

-Upon hatching completely, a Goetia chick would typically be born without feathers (depending on the specific Goetia species), blind and constantly "chirping" for food. To any other Hell species these babies may not exactly be... well, the "cutest", but to their parents they're often praised as the pinnacle of beauty, and dolled up to show off wherever they go. After a few weeks/months as a hatchling, the chick will steadily open their eyes and "fluff up" in downy feathers... only increasing further in adoration by both loved ones and outsiders-alike.

-Goetias may not have "visible" wings on themselves like a typical (anthro) bird... but when they feel the mood to "fly" around high places in Hell, they can sometimes shift their arms into a pair of wings for help in gliding. Others like a waterfowl-based Goetia use their arm-wings for swimming underwater at swift, graceful movements.

-Among the usual love languages of kisses, cuddling, gift-giving, and so on... a common way for a Goetia to show love is through "preening" (aka, nibbling their beaks to clean through a patch of feathers). For Goetias this is often a soft, intimate gesture only preserved for the closest of bonds (a parent and child, lovers, best friends, etc.). On a non-Goetia, this gesture would feel... "awkward" to experience, since there's no feathers to actually preen through (so the skin would basically just be all scratched/nibbled on, really lol).

anyway to elaborate on the goth teensy mention here

so this basically sort of sums him up but hteres more to this

ok i should probably put this below read more turns out i can ramble a lot about some random teensy with barely any existing lore

this originated during a roleplay as me really quickly on the spot trying to justify why hes not watching over the dead door

and it just sorta. built from here with other roleplays. so so basically hes friendly but naive and has memory issues, has a hard time remembering things like ever

aside from like the mega important or remarkable ones. like he has no idea what he did this morning but he does remember being classmates with ales mansay (whose name he does not remember. he also kind of forgot his own actual name because everyone only ever calls him goth teensy)

he did start accomodating for it by taking notes but yeah

im solidifying goth teensys characterisation more actually hes actually a lot like globox in a lot of ways but ottally diff vibes right i wanted to talk more about that. theyre both really friendly and naive and kind of stupid and also cant remember names and also scared of things easily [ADDITION that wasnt in the original message: to clarify hes not like, a coward moreso just panics easily]. but goth tesnsy isnt like. as sillyfunny fun loving hes just there and also his brain is kind of broken (friend said this) He's also aware of it and doesn't like it yeah

Why did you pick the race you did for your Tav?

Half-elf, for I am a basic bitch (and one who likes the idea of their character having a longer-than-human lifespan)

Why did you pick the class you did for your Tav?

Bardlock. Heavily leaning bard in HC. A bard is a lot of fun to write, but I prefer to play magic types.

What is your character’s moral alignment?

Chaotic neutral.

How did you choose your Tav’s name, if you gave them a unique one?

She doesn't use her real name. Her patron insists that she calls herself Asmodea, in honour of Asmodeus. It's meant to be ironically pompous, because frankly she's a pretty shit warlock.

What are your character’s strongest and weakest stats (strength, charisma, etc)?

Maxed out charisma, but needs to resort to asking Str 8 Astarion to open jars for her. Wisdom is clearly not up there either, given some of the choices she's made.

What is your Tav’s origin story?

I started typing out an essay, but will try to condense as much as I can:

Unwanted child between elf (mother) and human (father), raised by father. Doesn't know elven side of family. Was sent off for schooling as a young adolescent. Father dies, any and all traces of family fortune gone, only debts that she would now have to take over. Unable to continue studies, gets kicked out. Can't go back home. What do? Hooks up with guy, guy turns out to be bandit. Joins and runs with bandits for years. Picks up bard skills along the way. Banditry gets progressively worse, more violent and dangerous, and she eventually says "fuck this" and sneaks off with whatever loot she can carry. Keeps changing names and appearance and lives as a traveling bard for the next decade or so.

Enters pact with an otherworldly being shortly before events of BG3. Not her brightest moment, but one that kept her out of jail, at least.

Then nautiloid happens.

What was the most significant moment in your Tav’s origin story?

I would say suddenly finding yourself penniless and roofless and having to learn how to survive was a pretty big deal.

What deity, if any, does your character worship?

None.

What is your Tav’s biggest priority or goal?

Part of the terms of the patron's contract is keeping them entertained, so she is, indeed, forced to live in 'interesting times', or create them personally.

If your Tav didn’t become an adventurer, what else would they be doing?

She didn't really have particular plans for her future before everything went haywire.

What is your Tav’s most used weapon or spell?

Eldritch blast. Pew pew.

Realistically, anything ranged.

How does your Tav fight in a combat situation?

Poorly. Tries to stay away from hand to hand combat as much as possible. Stays close to Astarion.

Who is your Tav’s biggest rival?

She doesn't really think of her companions in those terms. Wyll's clearly a better warlock, but she simply accepts that.

Who is your Tav romancing, if anyone?

Astarion. Of course it's Astarion.

If you’re romancing anyone, why did your Tav fall for them? And why did that character fall for your Tav?

They connected through a shared sense of humour, impulsivity, dramatics, and desire to make the world burn just to see what happens.

If you’re romancing anyone, who fell first and who fell harder?

They arguably started falling more or less at the same time. Astarion fell harder.

How does your Tav act around their crush?

They started off by putting on a show of a massive love affair as a running gag to amuse themselves and annoy their other companions, until at some point it wasn't acting anymore. Related fic.

What is your Tav’s favorite moment they’ve had with their lover?

She rather enjoyed seeing him tear out a bandit's throat with his fangs to protect her.

What is your Tav attracted to? What are their turn-ons and turn-offs?

Attracted to humour, independence and self-sufficiency. Likes it when people are straightforward and can keep up with her.

Incompetence, neediness or just plain being boring are major turn-offs.

Does your Tav have any biases against other classes or races?

Not any more than the average person. She's met plenty of different people on her journeys. Goblins, half-orcs and drow are, in her experience, even worse than their stereotypes. The tieflings she's met have mostly been lovely though, she doesn't understand the hate for them.

Doesn't really stick to any particular colours as doesn't want to be too easily recognised.

Inappropriate. Also finds great joy in just being immature at times.

What is your Tav’s guilty pleasure?

Horrendously bad erotica novels. A hobby she shares with Astarion, actually. They keep a running tally of each instance of "velvet-wrapped steel" they come across, and occasionally perform dramatic in-character readings at camp for everyone's benefit, when the writing is sufficiently atrocious.

How easily offended are they? How do they act when offended?

Not easily at all, or rather doesn't let it get to her. She will remember, however, and is not above enacting petty, spiteful revenge.

How does your Tav react when someone insults their friend/partner?

Usually by saying something like "no, it's not worth it, let's just go, oh no, how will they ever walk again, that sure is a broken kneecap, shame about the face, welp, there go the teeth" and not actually intervening. Astarion can take care of himself.

How does your Tav dress for different occasions, like very fancy situations?

She hasn't had a chance to dress for a fancy occasion since she was a teenager. I think she would go all out given the opportunity. A combination of practicality and allure in everyday life - her vocation does require that she presents well. And that she is able to get away quickly should shit hit the fan.

How did your Tav get their scars, if they have any?

No major scars.

What is your Tav’s relationship with their family?

Doesn't know mother's elven side, and father's dead. She's got extended family, somewhere, but they've never been close.

Fuck the police. Eat the rich. She's technically still on the run from the law, not that 'the law' is competent enough or cares enough to find her.

They think it's hilarious and argue about who looks better in it. Neither will admit, but they both think Gale wore it best.

Honestly, she is sick and tired of taverns and the wilderness. She craves being someplace comfortable and more refined.

This would have to be an actions speaking louder than words situation. She'll believe it when she sees it.

Gale annoys the shit out of her with the unrequited crush he's got for her.

She finds Lae'zel to be a breath of fresh air with how she says exactly what she thinks, and actually feels like she can relax around her.

Shadowheart unnerves her somewhat. She doesn't really trust any religious fanatics.

She would ordinarily be annoyed with someone like Wyll for the excessive altruism, but he is genuinely such a kind and openhearted person that she can't help but like him. She is NOT allowing him to co-write their adventures though.

Is somewhat intimidated by Halsin's sheer life experience.

And then there's Astarion, but you know about that.

What are your Tav’s other hobbies?

She drinks. She cheats at cards. And she writes. Whether it's chronicling their journey or original stories that come to mind. Thank goodness for that bag of holding, she's been lugging her notebooks around for years, not having anywhere to store them.

How is this AU? And what do you think of JamiKali's Shipp?

Second question first: I'm not really into shipping im general, so idk, I don't think about JamiKali much tbh skdndwknd 🏃

And for the first question I'll take this ask as an opportunity to sum up some hcs I have for this AU 👍 but some important notes first:

I personally rather imagine this AU as a magicless/not-so-magic-central kinda world just for simplicity sake, but the rest of twst og lore pretty much remains the same.

Since what inspired me to ramble about this AU was across the spider-verse, I do make a brief mention canon events and a bit of multiverse stuff

Earth 2506 - Kalim as the spider-man of his dimension. Can also be referred to as the desert-spider!

uhh (making up an origin story on the spot right now) considering he comes from a family of influential merchants, maybe they got a great deal to partner up with some sort of scientific corporation, to deal with the business side of their new technologies. Kalim was for the first time invited to one of the meetings, as the heir to the family business, it was about time for him to check in person how things worked on this field. In short, it did not end well. As they walked around the corporation's main labs, one spider subject went loose, and Kalim stood right under its web.

he's very fitting to be a spidey, considering his happy-go-lucky personality, he'd be the type of spider-man to mess around and have a lot of fun playing the role of a hero

(Fight goes silent)

Kalim: well! that was another easy adventure for spider ma-

(Big explosion)

Jamil is the first one to know about this secret identity of course. He covers up any potential slips, as to not reveal this secret to anyone else

One notable thing about spider-man!Kalim is that he can afford whatever hero gadgets he needs. Gotta fix his web shooters? Want a nice improvement on his hero constume? No problem. He got a fair share of contacts from people who'd easily do all of these for him. Even though it is Jamil the one who usually runs after this stuff in his place...

Canon event stuff being losing a best friend? Jamil in this universe actually becomes Venom (maybe he found a symbiote from the same lab the spider came from) and yeah they had to fight. Jamil probably snapped for the same reasons he got his overblot. And this is the part where Kalim learns that with great powers comes great responsibility...

What would happen next? Does he move on eventually after the fight? Will there be other villains for spider-man to stop? How will he keep the secret identity now that Jamil's gone? Well, these are great questions, because- (runs away)

Earth 1209 - Jamil as the spider-man of his dimension. Idk if he'd go by any other variant of a spider-man name

Now that I think about it, his own universe is probably an accidental breach from Kalim's. As in "what if Kalim didn't get bitten at the lab, and instead brought the radioactive spider back home by accident?" then when Jamil took Kalim's backpack he was the one to get bitten instead

Ace happened to be the first one to find out about Jamil's powers after an incident on a basketball game. Their dynamic is funny. It's not like Ace wants to be the "guy in the chair" but if Jamil's secret identity is ever at risk, he'd volunteer to help, no questions asked. And aside from him, Najma is the only other person who knows about this as well. The very moment spider-man made his first appearance in public she knew! She says it's a "sister instinct", or something like that. She'd even offer to help him and make him a proper hero uniform... but ONLY if he agrees to do all the house chores for her for a month.

Najma: you gotta say it first :)

Jamil: (sigh) callforbackup

Najma: what? :)

Jamil: .......callforbackup

Najma: come onn :)

Jamil: PLEASE just call for-

Najma: yeah I already called it :)

Perhaps spider-man!Jamil has a puppeteer-like skill that he can use to control a small number of people with his webs!

Leona could be a mentor type of character in this universe. Like Jamil already kinda looks up to him in canon, but this time they are a little nicer to each other loll and I only bring this up because there is no "uncle Ben" for Jamil to lose, but Leona is the closest thing he could have to one, so...... canon event. That also ties up to that spider-man story trope of the hero finding himself in the wrong place wrong time, by the side of the person they just lost, only for a third party to walk in and assume it was spider-man the one who killed them. Having people assume this masked man to have killed a person as prestigious as Leona immediately makes spider-man public enemy #1

And edit: just remembered the point abouve could be Kalim alternatively. Which would be even more tragic to think both Jamil and Kalim lose each other in their respective universes

But what do we do after that? How does Jamil redeem himself after this misunderstanding? What if he just gives up being spider-man? Well, uhhh these are also good questions.... look over there! (runs away again)

ok headcanon time

advance warning that i don't know everything about zelda lore by any means so there could be inaccuracies here BUT i think it would be fun. and why are we here if not to have fun...

so! I like to think that sky could see minish.

yes i know that common consensus is only kids can see minish (and four depending on how old you hc him as), but hear me out!

in minish cap not all kids can see the minish. and it's not even that only good kids can see them; after link eats the jabbernut, a minish tells him, "the elder said that humans can no longer see us as they once could. it's amazing that you can see us." so it is an ability that people once had, but that most have lost. it is rare enough that for link to have it is "amazing."

why am i bringing this up? well, when i saw this scene, it reminded me of a similar one from skyward sword. the kikwi, like the minish (and the kokiri and the koroks), are these nature spirit-like beings who we help out sometimes. at one point, link meets yerbal, a kikwi hermit, and he says this:

in the first image, link stands in a forest before a kikwi, which is a small, round, furry creature with a light brown torso and darker brown arms and feet. the kikwi is perched in a tree branch. a text box at the bottom of the screen reads, "I don't know how you wandered all the way up here, but let me ask you something...can you really see me?" there are two responses available on the screen for the player to choose from. one reads "nope." the other reads "sure can." the second one will be selected.

in the second image, link and the kikwi are in the same positions. the text box at the bottom of the screen now reads, "is that so? well then, slap yourself on the back, kwwwrk! you know, some kikwis can't even see me these days."

i think the resemblance to the scene from minish cap is clear, but this one goes even further. there aren't other humans around on the surface, so we don't know if they would be able to see yerbal, but some kikwis can't. why can link see him, then? does being in skyloft make you closer to divinity and therefore more sensitive to beings like the kikwi? or is it just because link is the chosen hero that he can see yerbal? what is it about yerbal that makes him invisible to some kikwi, anyway? i really don't know how to explore any of these questions or their implications, but they sure are interesting! and if nothing else, this bit of dialogue establishes the fact that link can see a spirit/magical creature that even some other magical creatures can't see. if he can see yerbal, why not other beings that not everyone can see? why not the minish?

so. long story short. this may not convince anyone else, but personally i think there's a distinct possibility that sky could see minish and i think it would be so cool

(and if wild can see koroks, maybe he could also see them. maybe all the links have an innate ability to see magical spirit creatures. maybe they could all see the minish!!! but i'm just here to talk about sky okay)
