This is a commission from several years ago. This one is a 15" x 22" picture done in colored pencil, marker pen, technical pen, and at the end some white gouache paint. The working surface is Strathmore 500 Series Vellum Bristol Board.
I am particularly happy with how the moonlit clouds came out. I put a lot of thought into how I was going to do them, and I tried some new techniques which got me the results I was looking for. I'm hoping the technique will also work during daylight pictures. It's not faster, but it gives much more satisfying results than older techniques have.
I'm also happy that I was able to incorporate Nightmare Moon/Luna's cutie mark into the actual moon.

Finally finished my illustration of Gundham Tanaka (and his Four Dark Devas of Destruction) from Danganronpa 2. And I did it in my own style 🖤💜🖤💜 Media used: Black ink, fineliners, micron pens, watercolor brush pens, Copic markers, and gold paint on 9"x12" Bristol board. And also endless patience because hand-painting that background was a nightmare. That being said, it feels so freeing to finally do fanart unapologetically in my own style. I'm always afraid to put my own glam-horror flourish on things because I think I'll be judged, but Gundham so perfectly encapsulates the art of not caring what anybody thinks of you. He lives in his own dark, twisted world and plays by his own inexplicable rules, and everybody else is just along for the ride. And that ride involves hamsters. God, I love Gundham Tanaka so freakin' much 🖤 Anyway, I want to do more of these illustrations because it's really helping me get over about a million hang ups that were holding me back. Just trying to decide who to draw next 🤔

Hello! I saw some of your colored pencil works and I really love your style! I myself am trying to get into colored pencils as a medium and I just wanted to ask what resources or tips do you have for someone who's an intermediate drawer but a novice with color and colored pencils
thank you!! i don’t have any specific resources but when i first got ‘serious’ about colour pencils i did research into oil vs wax based (eg prismacolor) pencils before buying a set. i use faber castell polychromos because i prefer the qualities of oil based pencils, but it’s all down to personal preference
paper type also affects pencil drawings greatly, if you want texture & a lot of layers, go for a rougher tooth, and if you want minimal white spots at the cost of fewer layers use smooth paper (i use bristol board for pet portraits)
you can also experiment with using pencil on top of watercolour/marker etc bases or coloured paper, e.g. for this deer drawing i did a watercolour base which you can see in this vid
with paint people say to start with fewer colours and learn how to mix but for pencil i would say get as many colours as you can bc the only ‘mixing’ you can do is layering and there’s a limit to how many layers your paper (and hand) can take. its also hard to buy the missing colours later without rebuying the ones you already have. you can def make do with a smaller set if you want to do highly stylized art
'burnishing' is good to know about
for colour in general i think just study art that uses colour in a way you like, the principles will be similar across mediums. i don’t really believe in right or wrong ways to do things, as long as you’re achieving what you want. if you don’t know where to start, i recommend checking out james gurney, he has painting vids on youtube which give an interesting insight into how he uses colour. i just found a vid which shows him combining watercolour and coloured pencils
also find colour pencil art you like and think about how it was made. i love @ink-the-artist ‘s pencil art, i think they use marker bases in some of theirs and it gives it a rly saturated warm look (esp ones w yellow bases) & i love how the darkness is made up of different colours. they use prismacolor which gives it that waxy blended look
sorry this is kind of a word vomit, i hope at least some of it is useful to you. good luck with your colour journey! ♡

Introduction (about me and my blog)
Ok uh... hey. Welcome to my blog! I’m Victoria, you can call me fuchsia or fuchsia-neko if you want, I also go by V sometimes.
- About My Blog and My Art -
I’m an artist, I draw mainly cartoons and comics, the occasional animatic every now-and-then. I have a lot of OCs and a couple different stories, but I draw plenty of fanart too. If you wanna find my art specifically, the tag is “veez art.”
I also love art, A LOT. Art is my life, I like to look at and study and gush about art. I reblog a lot of different art, different medias, stuff about art. I do reblog other things too, things I think are important or interesting. My favorite forms of media are cartoons, comics, and animation.
This is a safe place for LGBTQ+ people. People like MAPs or TERFs should leave and rethink their life.
- About Tags -
I try to tag things accordingly, but if you want me to tag certain things, you can ask. I can be kind of forgetful however, so there may be one or two things that slip through the cracks.
- About Me -
I am an adult, I go by she/her. Sometimes I disappear or I don’t answer DMs (tbh right now, I kinda only answer DMs that are important or from people I already know well...). I have a tendency to lurk.
- My Tools -
My main programs for drawing are Krita, MS Paint, and Clip Studio Paint. For editing videos (like speedpaints and animatics), I use Hitfilm Express (I used to use Windows Movie Maker, but Hitfilm is a lot better). Traditional art is usually done in Fabre-Castel pens, Ohuhu and Touchnew alcoholic markers, and either sketchbook paper or bristol board (bristol board is for the big cool art pieces). Most of my digital creations are tagged with whatever program I used to make them.
- Requests? Art Trades? Commissions? -
I don’t REALLY take requests, but uh I take suggestions. It takes a while to get to them sometimes. I don’t usually do art trades unless maybe a close friend asks, or someone has made a public post asking for trades and I feel in the mood for it.
Commissions are currently closed, but I’m planning on updating my prices/options and re-opening them. You can find any information about my commissions under the tag “veez commissions.”
- Questions? -
If you have any questions or comments about anything, send an ask!

"THE ASTRAL PLANE" 2023
collage with pen and posca paint markers on bristol board
final in inventing environments
everything. life, death, and life after death. it all starts and ends here, in the astral plane/heaven. nothing is physical or materialistic here. this is where angels and non-physical beings reside. a place where all consciousness resides. a place where time doesn't exist. everything is connected to this plane. this piece shows everything in life, physical and spiritual, and how it all starts and goes back to the astral plane.
this was the last piece of my art that my mom saved before she passed. she had a whole album in her phone dedicated to my art. its crazy because this is where she is now. Liv3 On Valued 3nergy (LOVE) & LONG LIVE MY MOMMY!!

Oookay, so I know it's kinda weird that I posted an illustration of Junko Enoshima from Danganronpa, and then the very next day, I started drawing a new one, but there WAS a reason. But, uh, first things first... yaaay, I drew Junko Enoshima, the Ultimate Despair and the yas queen of killing. Materials used: Black ink, fineliners, watercolor brush pens, Copic markers, and gold paint pens on 9"x12" Bristol board. Anyway, why the second Junko illustration? Well...
Look, I'm self-aware, and I know I have a very distinct style. I'm a traditional artist who draws high contrast designs on black backgrounds with limited shading. I draw disturbing imagery, but I make it glamorous. Body horror draped in jewels, cyborgs in sparkles, Eldritch horrors glittering in the cold vastness of space... But the thing is, I only ever REALLY draw in that style when I'm doing my own thing. The second I try to draw fanart and commissions, a mental wall slams down. My knee-jerk reaction is to immediately drop my style and conform to the source material, or to the particular audience I'm drawing for, or to try and "step up my game" in unnecessary ways because I assume what I normally do isn't good enough. And yes, I'm aware of how stupid that sounds because if somebody didn't want my style, why would they come to me in the first place? And the whole thing pisses me off because I don't even drop my style voluntarily. It's like a genuine compulsion I can't break free from. And for a while, I toyed with the idea of doing some Danganronpa illustrations because the series' anime art style is so different from my own, yet the subject material is PERFECT for what I do. So, I drew Junko knowing I'd be sharing it with Danganronpa fans, and what did I do? I nuked the freaking thing like I always do!!! I drew it digitally, I drew it all crisp and clean, and I stripped it down to the most "accurate" Junko possible. And then it was pointed out to me that what I created didn't even LOOK like I drew it, and suddenly, I was FILLED with rage. Where's the horror? The glamour? The pointless jewels and decorations? It's JUNKO FUCKING ENOSHIMA. She is LITERALLY called the Ultimate Fashionista and the Ultimate Despair, yet I STILL couldn't bring myself to draw her with ANY of my own flourishes. WHY?! Is it because I think people will mock me if something's inaccurate? Because I think it'll be too creepy for its target audience? Am I worried I'll be judged just for being my own damn self? I HAVE NO IDEA!!! Anyway, realizing I couldn't even draw the Ultimate Despair in my own style was so rage-inducing, I said FUCK THIS and grabbed a piece of actual paper so I could start over. This is the result. And I don't give a shit if Junko's outfit isn't 100% canonically correct, and I don't give a shit if this drawing is garish and ostentatious and creepy. I DON'T CARE. I drew Junko Enoshima the way I wanted to because a billion other artists have already drawn her their way, and this one is MINE. Anyway, I feel better now that I got that off my chest. I'd like to do a few more of these in order to keep forcing myself out of that stupid comfort zone I kept trapping myself in. I think I might tackle Gundham Tanaka next.

Copic marker on Bristol board, 9" x 12".
Despite that one spot of annoying ink bleeding that I had to paint out (posted last night), I managed to finish coloring this in just a couple of days! It looks better in real life because the subtle colors don't photograph well, but that's always the case with traditional media.
