Emotional change comes before physical change with the external planets. Emotional changes as I mentioned began back in 2018 when Uranus first came in Taurus and this new start in my view accelerated since 2020-2021. Now we are being finally asked or even pushed to decide - will we physically commercially take that step ? Mars - the planet of action makes positive aspect to Sun giving us the option to act in this new direction but we need to actively choose to work on that versus letting our brain get flood by the collective emotions. My aim of this post is to bring your attention back to this new direction for your sign cause in eclipse season especially with a strong Scorpio eclipse there is too much collective waves of emotions which make us forget what we need to do for our own practical wellbeing.

In 2021 Uranus made a hard aspect with Jupiter followed by Saturn. I mentioned back then, that these two synods bring about accelerated shifts in progression of human existence usually through scientific and technical breakthroughs. Hard aspect indicates there will be huge resistance, dissonance which would be offered to these accelerated changes creating friction. Hard aspects also show division in society. We crave absolute freedom and different people would have at it in different manner. Uranus brings sudden shifts that are essential for us to live a life of authenticity to ourselves. Let’s see which area of our life we should look for this shift.

the upcoming full moon eclipse in scorpio pushes you towards a transformation that has been looming under the surface. while eclipse energy can feel unsettling and, in my opinion, “twilight zone-y”, things will be much easier if you sink into the inevitable change incoming instead of trying to fight against it. do a releasing ritual if you feel called to, but i find that eclipses would rather have you sit still and allow them to catalyse the incoming transformation. sit and watch🌑

I double checked, and it’s true: after the Moon enters Sagittarius, there isn’t much happening. We may feel a little boisterous and ready for adventure, or argumentative, or most likely both, and that’s really about it. May 2022 Important Dates

AKA my notes on the Astrology Podcast’s May forecast.

Recap of April: The Jupiter-Neptune conjunction Pisces has corresponded to labor organizing in the US, and Elon Musk buying Twitter (Pisces is the 10th house of the chart of the first tweet, where for mundane events you’d expect a change in leadership) If we take the first tweet as the beginning of Twitter as a network, the chart is Gemini rising with its chart ruler Mercury in Pisces--confusion in communication, anyone?

The Mars-Saturn conjunction in Aquarius seems to be corresponding with a restart in the cycles of lockdowns--the US has lifted just about all restrictions, but Shanghai is under severe lockdown due to a new breakout of the virus. Meanwhile Uranus and Taurus points to continued supply chain issues, including imminent famine in much of the global south due to war between two major wheat exporters and sanctions on one of the largest global fertilizer exporters. Right after this episode posted (but before I had a chance to take notes), there was a partial solar eclipse in Taurus on April 30, with Rahu (head of the dragon/North Node) bringing voraciousness and strife into the equation.

In happier news, Demetra George’s new book Ancient Astrology was just released on April 25th, almost exactly 30 years to the date after the day she had the conversation at an astrology conference that lead to the founding of Project Hindsight (a project to translate ancient astrology texts directly from their original languages into English). Chris sees this as the Saturn Return of the recent traditional astrology revival.

April 30th - Partial Solar Eclipse in Taurus (pictured last month) We got a preview of this in November with an eclipse in Taurus, but this begins the first full set of eclipses on the Taurus-Scorpio axis, and in fact we’ll be seeing eclipses in these signs until late 2023. Next year we’ll have two sets of eclipses bouncing around on either side of Aries-Libra and Taurus-Scorpio, which is unusual because we normally only get only one set of eclipses bouncing around. Here is the chart of Saturday’s eclipse:

Most notably, the lunation’s ruler Venus conjoined Jupiter at 27 Pisces, putting a bit of relief into the situation. However, the Sun-Moon conjunction at 10 Taurus was very close to Uranus at 14 degrees of the same sign, likely highlighting any Uranus in Taurus troubles we’ve been seeing lately (logistics disruptions, food shortages & issues, labor struggles). This is also the first New Moon/solar eclipse in Taurus of the upcoming Scorpio/Taurus series. Guest host Steph Koyfman suggests this eclipse might describe situations where getting what you want was actually a little distressing. Whether it’s change we want or not, eclipses bring a bit of a roller coaster of change for us--think a quantum leap into new places or flipping the circuit breakers on and off. Look especially to the Taurus house of your chart to see where this manifested for you personally. The other half of this will be the Scorpio eclipse in mid-May.

May 2nd - Venus enters Aries Mars and Jupiter will join her later this month, really energizing events that have been slowing down. She’s no longer buffering things for Mars in Pisces, and the other planets will slowly emerge after her over the course of the month. In general our hosts describe this placement as a show of personal power, the charm of being rough around the edges or avoiding people-pleasing, bonding through ribbing with each other, and metaphorical gladiatorial glory. Writing this on May 3rd, I also can’t help but notice that the day Venus entered this sign, approaching a square to Pluto in Capricorn, the US saw a court document leaked that foreshadows increased struggles over the control of women.

May 3rd - Jupiter sextile Pluto

May 10th - Jupiter enters Aries, Mercury stations retrograde Jupiter joins the other benefic in this time, giving us energy and a welcome change of pace. Jupiter & Neptune have indicated inflation to us so far, so perhaps we’ll see a change in situation as Jupiter enters a new sign. Growth we felt internally in Pisces will find an external outlet in a masculine sign. Jupiter is also associated with teachers & wisdom, and in Aries we can think of him as the sports coach or martial arts master. Rather than the transcendental mysteries and dreams of Pisces, Jupiter in Aries wants you to learn to put things into practical actions--gaining wisdom from trial and error and making the impossible happen. We can get an increase in both brave decisions and stupid ones, saying “well at least I took the risk!”

Mercury retrogrades in general bring situations of confusion in communications and logistics--“wait, I thought the appointment was at this time, but you thought it was this other time?” Add to this mild chaos the frenzy of eclipse season, there’s a lot of potential to be moving really fast without seeing anything clearly. We’ve got a boost of boldness, but try to be careful before charging head-on into anything. Chris suggests that sometimes we have to make mistakes during a Mercury retrograde so we can learn from them as the planet revisits the same territory. Austin cautions us to delay things a couple weeks until the retrograde passes, even if it feels like we have to do it now.

May 15th/16th - Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio (15th in my time zone, Pacific)

This is the follow-up or partner to the eclipse that ended April. The Moon is on the South Node & opposite the Sun, all of which are closely squaring Saturn in Aquarius. Meanwhile, this eclipse’s ruler Mars is closely conjunct Neptune in Pisces. Steph predicts some kind of sacrifice will be in order while we give up control in the Scorpio areas of our charts. Austin uses the analogy that we have two hands, and in order to fully grasp the North Node (Taurus) thing, then we’ll have to let go of our South Node (Scorpio) thing to free up our hand. It’s also worth nothing that the Moon is in fall in this sign, adding a level of intensity and possible distress. In general the eclipses themselves and surrounding days heighten issues that have been ongoing, bringing them to turning points.

This particular eclipse is also reactivating the Saturn-Uranus square from last year, bringing up those feelings and issues once more. Before we had Uranus trying to shake things up against the stronger authority Saturn, but now it’s the dragon & Uranus together up against him; the betting odds have changed in this fight. Additionally, the EU chart has a Taurus Moon, Saturn in Aquarius, and Mars in late Scorpio--all placements that are getting nailed during this set of eclipses. The EU will be dealing with issues it hasn’t truly faced since its birth, which seems consistent with current events so far.

In general eclipses will activate opposite houses in your charts, with increase in one detracting from the other, often swinging between extremes like a teeter-totter while we try to find a balance between the two. If this is on your 1st/7th axis, you can feel this either in your body or in your spirit and character, which is tied into the opposite eclipse in your 7th house, where you redefine the way you relate to other people in one-on-one relationships. The 2nd-8th axis involves debts & personal finance--maybe you’re taking out loans to have more money for important purchases. For the 3rd-9th axis, the 9th house is a big quest and the 3rd house is daily business, and one may demand some decrease in the other. The 4th-10th axis involves home or living situation vs career, relationship with parents vs public image, etc. In the 5th-11th house axis this brings up children vs friends, or with creative professionals, what you create (5th) vs the audience (11th), or your friend group changing as your interests change. For the 6th/12th axis, it’s your physical health & visible problems vs mental & invisible issues--for example, realizing you’ve been running 10 miles a day to avoid your anxiety. This can also be the axis of people you don’t get along with or self-sabotage--switch from visible enemies to unknown enemies.

May 17th - Mars conjoins Neptune (not pictured) Neptune makes the road less clear and sends you on a circuitous route, confusing direct Mars’s plans. Think “the fog of war.” The path forward isn’t quite clear until Mars ingresses into Aries, and these late degrees of Pisces also connote sacrifice.

May 20th - Sun enters Gemini

May 21st - Sun conjunct Retrograde Mercury (cazimi) in Gemini

May 22nd - Retrograde Mercury regresses into Taurus He’ll be stationing around 25-26 Taurus, right around the same degrees of the eclipse, so anyone with important placements in these degrees of fixed signs (especially with Saturn hanging around 25 Aquarius much of the month) will be activated. Mercury actually started his shadow period around the 25th of April, passing degrees that he’ll reenter before turning direct in this sign in June.

May 24th - Mars enters Aries Things are really starting to speed up at this point with a stellium in the sign. Mars in Aries is like a burst of energy or a sprint, but it doesn’t have the staying power of other signs. Leaving Pisces for his domicile, Mars is ready to unleash a piercing battle cry. Once he catches up to Jupiter we’ll be feeling some renewed energy and drive in a clear direction. Steph predicts an expansion of kind of “Jackass” energy (the TV show) as Mars enters the same sign as Jupiter. Mars can also heighten and expand conflicts in this situation. Jupiter and Venus may want to bring peace, but they’re being received by and copresent with a much stronger Mars, so it will be difficult to slow him down. Meanwhile the Mercury retrograde will likely aggravate miscommunications. On a more positive note, Mars in Aries is direct and clear to the point. If you like the heat and spice then this can be a good time! Especially with Venus in Aries.

May 26th - Selected electional chart (auspicious timing) for this month

We’re actually able to have a Mars-themed chart this month because both the benefics are in the same sign as him. Chris has this set for about 3AM local time (!) with Aries rising, making it a night chart. Mars is in domicile in the first house, applying to a conjunction with Jupiter, while Venus is still in Aries as well and the Moon is applying to a conjunction with her. Chris says this is about as positive and productive as we can get for Mars themes. If you want to time your glorious charge, this is the time for it.

May 28th - Venus enters Taurus She’s going to stabilize some of the tumultuousness of the previous weeks, or at least she’ll try to. I’m personally looking forward to Venus in domicile, even if we’re still feeling the lingering effects of the eclipses and Mercury continues retrograding. This does mean she’s leaving Jupiter and Mars to their own devices back in Aries, though.

May 30th - New Moon in Gemini This lunation is going to be less intense than the eclipses, and our hosts will leave off most commentary until next month’s forecast. It’s also a bit of reprieve for any Gemini people who’ve been affected by the mutable eclipses.
