Just as a reminder to those hyped about side order, this is Nintendo’s official opinion of Agent 4 from the Splatoon website:

Look at her face. Does she look like a pushover? Someone who is just a little wacky? No. This is a teenager who fought an entire Empire. And *won*. People I know keep saying she’s not as impressive as Three or Eight and like?? Just because she did the same thing as Three makes it no less impressive you ding dongs. In fact, she did it with less help than Three had, AND kicked Octavio to the curb WHILE HE HAD CALLIE ON HIS SIDE. She’s practically a force of nature. And it’s not like the Splatoon devs to forget something like this.

No matter what your hopes for side order are, don’t expect Four to be some damsel in distress or anything similar. Remember what the contents of the Splatoon 2 campaign were. Remember that Four is not a member of the New Squidbeak Splatoon because “someone has to be Agent 4!!!” Because I can almost guarantee the devs haven’t forgotten. I say with complete confidence that their definition of Four being “pushover” is a red herring. She’s going to kick our ass on February 22nd.

The thing I love about Reigen Arataka is that he chooses to be this way. He’s naturally charismatic and can read people *really* well. He has drive and ambition and has shown that if he wants to he can be a successful business man, regardless of the business. He can clearly pick up skills quickly and well, since he’s good at a lot of (non-psychic) things. He’s a master of photoshop. Yeah he’s self-absorbed and a jerk, but the man is by no means delusional or unaware. It’s not even like he has a penchant for creating chaos. Reigen Arataka could do anything with his life and he’d be successful at it….and yet every day he wakes up and chooses to be a stinky bastard on purpose because he has nothing better to do.

There's a lot to be upset about re: the response to the recent self-immolation, but one element I haven't seen touched upon much is, well, this shit.

So I found Aaron Bushnell's reddit and went through his comments/posts. That young man was well read and stable as they can be. Nothing in his writings pointed to someone who was "unstable" or "brainwashed".

Like, y'all. I thought we had all come to understand that it's possible to be mentally ill or suicidal and perfectly lucid? That being articulate doesn't rule out being "troubled"? What the hell happened to "just because someone looks okay doesn't mean they're okay"? The concept of masking?

This post isn't even about whether his death was an effective protest or if he was genuinely suicidal. Others have spoken on that; don't derail this.

This about the double standards and the inconsistency. People who would previously say that obviously suicidal people can appear fine suddenly using "clarity" as evidence that someone wasn't mentally ill in the slightest. People who talked about mental health and suicide prevention suddenly glorifying this suicide as martyrdom. And for what? To prove a point? Because he agreed with you?

Would you have accepted this rhetoric for anything else? Are you really this willing to throw away vital concepts? Do you really have principles, or do you just have a side?

i get the idea but i can’t quite get behind the people on instagram acting like their dog being reactive is some devastating life event that makes them “grieve” the dog they wanted. your dog is fine. you can still do amazing things with your dog. having a reactive dog doesn’t mean you can’t take them on hikes, out in public, etc. muzzle train. put the extra work in to counter-condition their reactivity. i’ve had reactive dogs my entire adult life and it never stopped us from kayaking, hiking, going to breweries, out to eat on patios, and to family events (i’ve taken milo to family christmas gatherings with no issues). it’s different if your dog is aggressive, but just having a reactive dog is not the end of a fun life together. it’s harder, but you don’t have to “grieve” anything. yike
