Some Girl, Special Girl - Part 5
Hope you like it! So sorry for the delay!
———————————————————————————–
It takes you almost a week to finally text Jason.
To Jason T.: Roy said that you wanted to talk. I’m free on Saturday
To Jason T.: This is Y/N btw. Probably should have started with that
From Jason T.: Yeah, Saturday works great. 11? At the coffee shop by WE? Thanks for reaching out
To Jason T.: See you then
--
You send another text to Roy letting him know your plans. He offers to come with Jason and help mediate, but you just want Jason to say his piece and then leave. If Roy is there he’ll try and make everyone be friends.
Saturday arrives faster than you anticipate, and even though you get to the coffee shop early Jason is already there.
“Hey”
“Hello, Jason. It’s been a long time.”
Jason shifts, his eyes darting away, “Yeah, yeah it has. I’m really glad you texted me”
“Why did you want to talk to me? Roy said you’ve been pretty insistent on finding out where I am” You fold your hands in front of you and raise an eyebrow.
“Yeah, I … um ... I wanted to apologize for everything I said when we first met.” Jason runs a hand roughly through his hair, “I was an asshole, and you didn’t deserve that. You were just trying to get to know us, and we were all just cruel to you. So, I’m sorry”
“Oh … Roy mentioned that you wanted to apologize, but I wasn’t actually expecting one.” Jason lets out a self-deprecating chuckle, “Thank you though, I appreciate it.”
“It’s the least you deserve. We all fucked up and you ended up in the hospital” Before you can say anything, Jason continues, “I know we couldn’t have predicted the accident, but that doesn’t make up for the fact that we ran you off. Roy always talked about his best friend Y/N; I didn’t put it together that you guys were the same person until after it happened. He stopped talking about you, refused to even say your name anymore, he was miserable. I figured it out eventually, but no one knew where you went so I couldn’t apologize.”
“I asked Roy not to talk about me when he was in Gotham, I really has no intention of coming back. I was hoping that if no one talked about me I would be forgotten. Apparently not.”
Jason nods, “I understand wanting to disappear, I did the same thing a little while back.”
“Well, since you’ve apologized and I’ve accepted, is there anything else you’d like to talk about?”
“No, no that was the main reason I wanted to talk to you. You deserved at least that.”
You grin, “Good, now that the business is over, Roy mentioned that you two were dating someone named Kori? How is it? Are you treating him right? Because you really seemed against relationships when we first met, and now you’re in one with two people”
“It’s … It’s going great actually. It wasn’t exclusive at first, we were all working together, and it just … developed from there. Roy and Kori make me happy, they’re both so different and we balance each other out.”
“Good. I’m glad you’re all happy. Treat them right, Jason, you never know when you’ll lose them.”
--
After meeting with Jason your life is suddenly filled with new people. Roy and Lian aren’t the only ones to stop by your apartment anymore, now he’ll bring Jason and Kori. Kori is hilarious, she has no filter, and readily shares all kinds of embarrassing stories about Jason and Roy.
“Dick’s been asking about you again”
You groan and toss a pillow at Jason, “I’m not talking to him. I don’t really care how much he bugs me”
“Yeah, yeah I know. I already told him to fuck off and to leave you alone. I could always tell him that you’re our fourth, Kori has been bugging for another girl. She says there needs to be more common sense to balance out me and Roy.”
You snort, “I’ll think about it, but for now I think my strategy of avoidance is going pretty good”
Lian comes sprinting around the corner, quickly followed by Roy and Kori. “Auntie!! You’re here! Daddy said you’d be here!”
“Of course I’m here sweetheart! You’re gonna spend the weekend with me while daddy goes on a mission!” Lian wiggles around happily, “And we’re gonna watch movies, and eat candy, and then you get to go home all hopped on sugar!” You glance up at Jason, Kori and Roy to see them all watching you, their eyes soft, “What? Was it something I said?”
Roy leans down giving both you and Lian a kiss on your forehead, “No, Sugar. That sounds like a great weekend. We’ll be back soon, and we’ll call as much as we can, okay?”
Lian grins, “Okay daddy! Love you!”
“Be safe, and don’t rush. We’ll be fine”
“I know you will be, Y/N. You always take good care of Lian, and we love you for that. You’re so special, in every way”
———————————————————————————–
So I’m not sure if you picked up on the hint. But another relationship other that with Dick? Maybe? I don’t know yet! Let me know what you think!

MLB x DC Universe Headcannons
I just love the idea of MLB and DC (expecially Batfam cuz Mari is such a Wayne) being in the same universe and crossing over. So one night, I just had an idea overload of different ways the Marinette would know the batfam/be a part of the DC universe. And if any of my shitty ideas somehow inspire or prompt you, then please be my guest. 😊 _
1) “Ladybugs of Past and Present”
Hippolyta, Wonder Woman’s mother, was once a previous holder of the ladybug miraculous. When Fu activated the miraculous and put them in circulation, Hippolyta could feel its magic waking back up. Knowing there must a reason for it to be out, she sent a message to her daughter. Diana searched, finding Marinette and Adrien as the present holders of the ladybug and cat miraculous. She vouched and brought them into the Young Justice program while they also made their own team, Project: Zodiac (or something like that).
[Sometime when Diana takes Marinette to meet Hippolyta]
“Great Hera, Tikki, you have not aged a day” -Hippolyta, cause she does know how to make joke.
“And I would say the same to you” -Tikki
“Mother, you can make a laugh?” -Wonder Woman, honestly a bit confused cause her mom have never not been serious before.
And Marinette is just speechless cause she’s starstruck meeting Wonder Woman’s mom AND a previous Ladybug holder.
_
2) “Rockstar Niece”
Jagged Stone is Marinette’s Sweet Uncle J. During the summers, Jagged Stone would take Mari with him on tour. HIs summer tours are throughout America, so Mari gets to sightsee the country. Jagged’s first tour that he gets to take Mari on (5-ish), he’s also booked for the annual (for whatever reason) Wayne Summer Gala. When Marinette meets the Waynes, they are so enamoured (Dick and Tim couldn’t help it) that they tell Jagged he’s always invited as a guest, Mari of course being added to the permanent guest list too. About 6 years later, Mari is practically adopted, spending the first half of her summers with Jagged, going to the Wayne Gala, then spending the rest of her summer with the Waynes. Overtime, she figured out the secrets of the family and was there to welcome Jason back from the dead (when that happens). Anyways, now 11(-ish?) Mari meets Damian and the two become good friends… after an… impressionable first meeting.
“Tch, let me guess, you’re another one of father’s adopted strays” -Dami
“YOU MUST BE DAMIAN!!! DICK TOLD ME ABOUT YOU!!” -Marinette, who just ignores what he said for a hug.
“hiiiiiiiiissssssss” -Dami, touchy with touch
“...” sprays water in his face since he decided to act like a cat.
“I say, Master Bruce, the children are getting along quite well” -Alfred
_
3) “Pen Pals”
Jon Kent and Marinette Dupain-Cheng are part of an international pen-pal program, starting when they were very young (maybe like 4 or 5-ish, super super young) where they told each other everything (Jon can’t just say that his older bro is a clone made from Superman and Lex Luthor’s DNA, or that his dad is Superman, or that his best friend is Robin, but yea. Lois and Clark probably proofread his stuff until he’s like 9) with pictures and everything. When they’re old enough to get phones & stuff, they call, text and vid-chat along with their letters (love without blood). When Mari is maybe 9-11 (somewhere around there) she starts flying over during the summers to hangout with Jon (and his friends and big brother). While there, she meets Kon, Bat fam, and Clark (some who she already knew, some who she didn’t) & lightly hints that she knows who all they are once she figures it out (it didn’t take her long to do so).
Now whenever she visits and is at Wayne Manor (Jon likes to have sleepovers practically every weekend) while they’re on patrol, Mari subtly messes with their minds (super subtle, they’re the world’s best detectives after all) until they finally look through the cams and see Mari giving them one of those smiles (those shit-grinning cause it’s just so hilarious how it’s gone on for so long) & and a playful wink.
[5 seconds later]
“Mari!” “Pixie-pop!” “Angel!” “Teacup!”
“Seriously, am I the only one with a normal nickname for her?” -Tim
“Ms. Marinette would like to inform you that ‘it took you long enough’” -Alfred (who so knows that the girl has been playing them since the third night she stayed at the Wayne’s)
“Where are my adoption papers?” -Bruce (who is seriously adopting any talented black-haired child)
_
4) “Mari and Mar’i”
When Mar’i is young, Dick and Kori take her with them to see Paris (btw, this would be during the winter). They’re strolling along through a park and lose track of Mar’i who finds Marinette (9-10 ish). Marinette comforts and distracts Mar’i while noticing the young(er) girl is Tameranian (her hair is very warm and she’s wearing significantly less layers than should be worn for a human of that age during the winter, plus that sun-kissed skin tone. She’s seen Kori in her fashion magazines (and, from time to time, on the news as an ambassador) so she easily make the connections). Dick and Kori finally spot Mar’i with Mari who introduces herself to them. Mar’i asks if she can see her “Auntinette” again and Marinette just goes “if your parents are okay with it.” Dick and Kori are totally cool with it (not many are willing to watch her and have the time to do it) so they ask Marinette if she can babysit Mar’i whenever (with good pay of course) if she’s up to it (cause she’s still pretty young). Marinette can’t say no to Mar’i’s babydoll eyes (and she’s so much easier compared to Manon, who’s only 2 rn), so of course, she says yes.
Now Marinette is Mar’is official babysitter and sees Mar’i often whenever her parents drop her off (using zeta tubes to quickly get to Paris and back). Marinette gets treated like an honorary Wayne (cause she’s the most responsible) and gets invited to their family stuff (w/ travel pay taken care of, of course). It doesn’t take her long to realize the fact that she babysits Bruce Wayne’s & BATMAN’S granddaughter, but of course, being the responsible one she is, keeps the secret… while also playing with them via Mar’i.
[One Day]
After Marinette leaves for her plane…
“Uncle Dami!”
“Yes, Spawn?”
“Auntinette said to tell you after she left that Robin’s sut needs a major upgrade & that you look like a traffic light… whatever that’s supposed to mean.”
[Another Day]
“Uncle Jay!”
“What’s up kid?’
“Auntinette said that to let you know that Red Hood doesn’t make any sense ‘cause Red Hood wears a helmet. Not a hood.”
[The next time]
“Uncle Tim!”
Yawn. “yea?”
“Auntie told me to give you this” (pulls out super caffeinated coffee) “and that Red Robin’s cowl is a menace to all things fashion”
[Again…]
“Daddy!”
“Yes, Starshine?”
“Auntienette said she’s proud of Nightwing’s costume ‘cause it’s one of the only in the batfam that isn’t an astro-city to the fashion society.”
_
5) “Marinette, the one who’s always getting chosen”
Before Mari became (becomes(?)) LB, she comes across a different powerful piece of jewelry, from a different order of guardians where her will of mind is not only her shield from being akumatized, but it is also what drives her powers. That’s right, Mari walks past a flea market and activates a GL ring. The guardians pick up on this activity and send Hal (it is his sector) to check it out. Hal finds the ring with Mari but it still needs the light of a GL to charge and fully work.
[During the explanation]
“Look, kid-”
“Marinette.”
“Look, kid, I just need to know why you have that ring.”
“You think I know? I was just walking through the market and all of a sudden, this possessed ring, if that’s even what this is, started following me, then zipped in front of my face til i held my hand up so it can put itself on my finger.”
“Kid-”
“It’s MARINETTE. Get it wrong one more time and you’ll see why I don’t need a possessed piece of alien jewelry.” -Marinette, making sure you get her name right. “Besides, if I stole it, I would remember. I’m a klepto” -Marinette, probably holding his ring too at this point.
Hal obviously doesn’t want the wrath of the Dupain-Chengs (just the kid Marinette scares him enough), so he tells the guardians that JL will take care of most of Mari’s training (once they get her a lamp for her ring, of course) & has her take part in training at Mt. Justice with the Young Justice team and special training with the Bats. Mari does all this under the guise of an international student exchange program for Mari to stay with the Waynes (not yet knowing that it’s the bat fam) and attends G.A. Mari doesn’t do much, but it takes her 24-36 hours to know who EVERYONE is.
[the next week after settling in]
“Hey, Mars,” -Dick, in his Nightwing gear
“Hey, Di-is the GREATEST SHOW!” -Mari, changing the subject(… not really)
“How long did it take you?”
“Not as long as the Kryptonians…” -Mari, going off into a tangent (still trying to change the subject”
[When Marinette meets Tikki]
Back in Paris:
“Sooo… I’m getting powerful jewelry that gives me powers and a suit, needs to be recharged, and comes from some Order of the Guardians? What’s the difference between you and my ring?” -Marinette, who at this point is very confused as to why she keeps getting picked on for this kind of stuff.
“One’s alien, one’s magic” -Tikki, hoping Mari will end it there & lowkey hates that the GL Corp. got to her first.
“They’re both non-human made energy sources” -Mari, cause once you’ve seen it once, you’ve seen it all before.
“You can’t heal the Akuma without the miraculous, and there are more than just rings. Yours are earrings, there are hair clips, bracelets, necklaces and more” -Tikki, after having a minute to think
“Fine, only because you said they’re the only way to heal the, what was it again, akuma?”
_
6) “Their Unofficial Official Barista”
Part of Tim’s job as Co-CEO, is to make sure all the branches are running smoothly, sometimes that means he has to fly abroad to manually check in. Tim goes to Paris to check on the W.E. Paris branch. He goes to a nearby Patisserie (Tom and Sabine’s) to see a young Marinette (somewhere from 8-11) drawing in her sketchbook at the counter. She explains that her parents are at a catering event, but she’s there to man the little bakery. Tim asks for a super caffeinated coffee and Marinette makes it with ease, claiming it was on the house with how bad he looks (and how much sleep the man clearly needs). Tim begs for her knowledge and asks if she can teach his butler. Mari’s willing to show him the next time he comes, so he gets the whole fam to go (viz tubes so they don’t waste time) maybe a week later. Everyone gets their own drink (plus a free pastries) and Marinette teaches Alfred her coffee, but it’s just not the same so Tim, using the tubes, goes to get coffee from the girl whenever he can.
Mari is horrible at getting up on time (the life of an insomniac, never getting to sleep even if you want and then barely waking up on time) that she is up super early, makes Tim his coffee (plus a croissant) and tries to go back to sleep (making her inevitably late). Tim would walk up to the pick-up counter where his cup and to-go bag is while Marinette runs out of the house to get to school. Eventually, the rest of the Batfam (as well as the Laegue, TT, and YJ) frequent the place, slowly becoming (Dami too) Mari hides it, but she knew all the batfam the first day they came and she showed Alfred how to make the coffee. When the others start making more regular appearances, she learns the identities of YJ team, WW, GLs, and others. Obviously when LB and CN appear as heroes with HM as their villain, they immediately reach out to help. Because 1. Batfam clearly notices that it’s Mari and they sure as heck won’t let her deal with that by herself, and 2. The JL is worrying too much about their favorite barista (even though she’s not really one), especially with the Gigantitan scare. So, of course LB & CN (can’t make him bad everytime) get inducted into YJ.
[After Ladybug finishes defeating Gigantitan and detransforms]
“Bean! Are you okay? You’re not hurt, are you?” -Tim, being an even more protective older brother than Dick, which shouldn’t be possible
“Yes, I promise. I’m fine” -Marinette, who just accepts the fact that she’s adopted an older brother (and his famliy)
“Tube over, we’ll have Alfred make sure” -Dick, already pulling out the medical supplies for Alfred.
“I-”
“You shouldn’t worry your brothers like that, Marinette. Now come over so Alfred can clear you,” -Bruce, who just happens to overhear the conversation
“I’m sorry, Miss Marinette, they are very adamant that you’re in pitch perfect health before going out again,” -Alfred, who’s not actually sorry
“Fine” -Marinette, accepting her fate of her adopted, protective family.
_
7) “Thicker Than the Blood We’ve Shed”
Why is Marinette so freakishly strong? Because she was trained to be. Before she could even talk, Mari was taught to be an assassin. She and Damian were frenemies, both competing for top spot as best in the League (of Assassins). They often spared together and became rivals who pushed each other (which sounds great in that context if you forget about the fact that they’re killing people and turning it into a competition). When Damian’s care is turned over to Batsy, Mari also comes along for the ride. She implements herself into Dami’s classes at G.A. & watches him from afar. (Damian, not being an idiot, of course knows all this and knows that it’s probably for Mari to give a report to Talia.) When he becomes Robin, Mari obviously knows, but waits to see if anything drastic would happen (his care was given to the Batfam, they had already expected this to happen.) She then heard word of the bounty Talia put on Damian’s head. Marinette knew there wouldn’t be much she could do to help, but she ave Dami a warning about the upcoming situation before fleeing the country.
From there she got to France, changed her name (it wasn’t originally Marinette, it was Shénqí, chinese for miraculous/magical (or something else if you want)), was adopted by Tom & Sabine, and left her time in the League in the past. When she received Tikki, she didn’t want to be a hero because she didn’t think she deserved it after her up-bringing. Eventually, she did become LB (being a trained assassin does help with lucky charms, considering she was taught how to kill with basically every and anything), and life was good for her. Then Rossi came.
[Gotham field trip]
While at Wayne Tower…
“How idiotic are they?” -Damian, who after reuniting with his long-lost sister-from-a-different-mister (yes, Marinette was able to convince him to say it once), can’t understand the stupidity she has to deal with.
“Are you Robin?” -Mari, who is too tired, so just goes straight into the analogy
“Yes.” -Obvious and simply is.
“Exactly” -Mari, who can’t even put a limit to the amount of thought the one brain cell the class shares doesn’t use. I mean please, the so-called “reporter” believed that the first cosplayer she saw was the actual LB when they don’t even have the same hair! And let’s not forget the origins arc, where LB’s first citizen save was Chloe.

Something else to keep in mind is the way things compound? Like for instance, I’ve seen a mini trend of fics lately focusing on the issue of Dick dropping out of college or not wanting to go, which for the record, I feel is another way of building up to the idea that he and Bruce have all these fights during this period that are two way streets instead of like....what canon actually was (reminder that in the canon that Dick actually dropped out he and Bruce actually were never really NOT on good terms, like there’s never been a big fight in the comics about this topic so.....incheresting).
But anyway, my point is its worth keeping in mind that how you frame something at one point in a narrative like.....ideally, you want it to mesh up and align with other things you’ve brought up throughout the narrative, and not accidentally contradict yourself narratively.
I mean, this is really the big gripe most Dick Grayson fans have with his fanon characterization overall:
The fact that it just doesn’t make sense.
In Jason-centric fics that are after his resurrection, how often is Jason utterly convinced that Dick can’t even wipe his ass without Bruce’s approval? And yet in Jason-centric fics that are before his death, how often is Jason thinking about how Dick and Bruce are constantly fighting and Bruce can’t seem to do anything without Dick objecting? Reconcile these two things. They make no sense.
Same thing with fics that talk about Dick being the emotional glue of the family, the one keeping a cool head to calm down everyone else when they’re all taking shots at each other.....until randomly he just pops off without warning because he’s just that hot-tempered. These things mesh, how?
Same thing with Dick being frequently referenced as idealized by the hero community......but every time he interacts with someone like Roy or Kori or other Titans he can’t seem to avoid pissing them off and creating epic grudges. Make it make sense.
Or how Dick disliked or didn’t care about Jason to the extent that he only references him as a cautionary tale because of one line in canon......but the whole damn story where he kills the Joker because of Jason doesn’t count.
Or how its not okay to blame Dick for his own rapes but both of his major breakups which are intrinsically linked to the actions of his rapists like....were clearly and objectively all his fault somehow.
Dick Grayson fans aren’t on board with most of fanon because you can’t sell people on a constantly conflicting characterization that makes no sense and has no internal consistency.....you can only cater to people who don’t NEED to be sold on that because they’ve already decided they’re down with hating a character or largely ignoring him.
And I think people have gotten so used to not thinking twice about contradictory takes on Dick Grayson that they unintentionally undermine their own fics by contradicting themselves without even realizing it.
Like its ridiculously common to come across fics that reference Dick being beloved and charming everyone at the society galas they all have to go to.....but these fics take pot shots at Dick’s name, fashion, mannerisms etc all throughout it just because the author likes it or fans expect it or whatever reason.
But actually THINK about it:
Think how snobby the socialites at these galas are characterized as being any time its Jason their noses are turned down at.....and then look at like.....the constant jokes you as the author make YOURSELF at Dick’s very name, fashion and circus origins......how on Earth does it make ANY sense that these same people aren’t doing the same damn thing about Dick? That they’re actually any more fond of him than they are Jason, if no matter how charming he might be in the moment, the second he turns around its just as easy and likely for them to make a joke about his circus background or name as it is for writers and readers? If you can’t resist doing it, you really think snobby one percenters would bother in-universe?
Hell, they’d be more likely to hate him BECAUSE of his name, his fashion, etc.....because think of how often people not so subtly infer that he’s making a bad choice when he refuses to go by a different name, or dress more accordingly to normal fashions, etc.....
Dick has a million ways he could more easily fit in with the society he was brought into and ease his passage through it, but he puts his foot down at practically every opportunity. The idea that everybody is just dazzled by him at these galas makes no sense because the most consistent character choice made by Dick throughout the decades is that he refuses to CONFORM to others’ expectations of what he should be like.
EVERY SINGLE CHOICE he makes from his name to his wardrobe to his costumes to his education to his city to his living arrangements and on and on is in complete and utter DEFIANCE of what people expect of the eldest son or ward of Bruce Wayne, Prince of Gotham, and that’s by Dick’s conscious and consistent choice. He knows damn well how to be more what people want or expect of him, and that’s not what he wants so he says mmmm but also how bout no.
Dick constantly embodies the idea that you can take the boy out of the circus but you can not and will not take the circus out of the boy no matter what environment you place him in or who you surround him with. He will not allow it. He will not play along.
In what universe is that going to endear him to the very people who would most likely view his choice to prioritize the very things they look down upon as something he consciously PREFERS over their projected expectations or assumptions?
Its not.
Personally, I think Gotham high society despises Dick Grayson no matter what they pretend to his face, and he’s perfectly aware of it. And probably gets some kind of trollish glee out of it because fuck them too, anyway.
(And all of that is WITHOUT even taking into account the fact that a good number of the people at these society galas all along were looking at Dick as their future property, given that they were Owl members who knew all along what they intended for their Gray Son. These people simply do not view and treat Dick as an equal. Its impossible. There’s no way).
Or then back to the idea of Bruce and Dick’s fights in his later teenage years being a two way street....
The core problem at the root of all this is the very idea of a two way street implies a certain give and take. A clashing of equals.
And that’s just not the reality in ANY continuity.
Because the question is, in any given fight between Dick and Bruce in ANY canon....
When does Dick ever WIN these fights?
When does Dick get the outcome he wants OVER what Bruce wants? When does Bruce ever cave? When is it NOT Dick leaving the manor without getting what he came for, or even being kicked out? When has Dick ever been able to say no, I’m NOT fired, or no, I’m NOT giving you control over what happens with Robin. Even when he DOES confront Bruce on these matters, Bruce STILL infamously never caves. He never actually apologizes or admits wrongdoing, he still usually tells Dick to leave. Like I said, basically the only time Dick’s ever got the upper hand in an argument was over the college thing and that time it wasn’t even a fight! Bruce didn’t actually care that much! That was the good timeline! LOL.
But there’s never actually a reversal. There’s no real precedent for Bruce caving to a teenage Dick Grayson and saying hey you know what, you’re right here, I’m overstepping or I’m in the wrong or I’m the one who doesn’t know what he’s talking about because our divergent life experiences here have mine as less relevant to the issue in question than yours do?
It doesn’t happen.
And here’s the problem with that:
Dick’s a literal genius. Every member of the Batfam is. Its how they’re able to do what they do. They’re ALL smart as fuck, capable as fuck. Put any of them in any other situation where they’re the only Bat present, and everyone usually defaults to them. They know what to do, they know what call to make, their approach is borne out by the narrative as being the correct approach. Their intelligence and strategy is validated by the narrative, with Dick being no exception here. In fact he’s particularly NOTED within canon narratives for being the guy everyone in the DC universe trusts to lead them.
Now.....imagine being this guy, who while although still a teenager, is in his late teens, and has YEARS of leading his own team under his belt. Years of being responsible for the lives of teammates and civilians. Years of becoming aware of and comfortable with his own natural brilliance. Years of becoming confident in being capable of making the right call when the situation demands it. Years of learning to TRUST in his ability to make the right call, to know the right approach, because not only are people relying on him to make those calls, he needs to be able to trust he can make them in order to have the confidence to follow through and DO so instead of being frozen with indecision or trying to pass the decision off to someone else, which he NEVER does?
With all that....and even with all due respect to Bruce’s own genius and experience....
What are the chances that in all the times that Bruce and Dick clash in his late teenage years....
Dick is NEVER right?
And yet.....when in any of these conflicts.....is he ever validated in that, versus shut down by Bruce who insists his way is still right?
Imagine being an acknowledged genius with years of experience and responsibility under your belt, but NEVER getting to be right in any arguments with your father, even when just based off pure freaking statistics, its frankly impossible for you to be 100% wrong EVERY SINGLE TIME?
Do you see where the two way street thing starts to fall apart? How can it truly be a two way street if part of the reason the two of them so often end UP aggressively opposed to each other during this time period.....is because of how many times previous encounters have only ended ONE way no matter WHAT?
It makes sense for Dick and Bruce not to clash as much during their younger years, because even the most stubborn kids do understand on a fundamental level that they have things to learn from more experienced adults. And Dick has never been someone mindlessly predisposed towards conflict. He didn’t become an exceptional acrobat by the age of eight by butting heads with his parents every time they tried to teach him, he couldn’t have. He KNOWS how to listen, he KNOWS how to acknowledge when someone else is right.
But as he grows older, when he has more and more experience under his belt, more and more confidence in his own insights in large parts thanks to Bruce’s own efforts in buttressing his confidence in his younger years.....what happens when the balance of who is right and who is wrong in their arguments NEVER EVER starts to shift in his direction even a little bit, no matter HOW much more experienced he seems to get....and what happens when communicating this problem, this imbalance, to the person that really matters here, Bruce himself....still inherently requires Bruce accepting blame and acknowledging even just in THIS case, the idea that he’s not always right at this point and Dick has insights that can challenge his?
Of course there’s going to be more and more conflict....but can you truly argue that its a two way street, even just based off THIS? Is the teenage son truly to blame for being frustrated that he’s not allowed to ever be right, because the thing getting in his way is his father never ever being willing to back down or cave or not have the last word?
This is the sort of inherent contradiction I think lies at the heart of a lot of conflicting viewpoints here. It doesn’t matter how much lip service is being paid to the idea that Dick is intelligent, that Dick is respected, if all your content continually bears out the idea that actually no he’s not, because Bruce is always right, Dick never is in the right in arguments or conflicts.
The latter evidence just is not aligning with the former claims, and thus readers are innately forced to make a choice as to which to believe.....and more likely than not, they’re going to err on the side of substantiating whichever stance actually has more narrative support behind it, in any particular story.
See what I’m saying?
You need to make sure your story is ACTUALLY saying what you think you’re saying or you intended to say....or you end up undermining your own intentions.
Anyway. Just throwing that out there.

Bio Dad Bruce Wayne Month 2020
Day 1: Meeting for the first time
Not my best work, but decent. I hope you enjoy!
—*—*—*—*—*
Mari was intelligent. That much could not be disputed— and despite her dislike for the sciences in general, she was fully capable of comprehending them when she wanted to. She just usually didn’t care enough to try. But genetics? That was kinda cool. So, when she was ten years old and they began their short unit on it, she was obsessed. And by obsessed, she dove in head first. Like, the fact that her eye color didn’t match either of her parents or grandparents. How could she have blue eyes when none of them did? She delved in deeper and deeper until she uncovered a truth her parents hadn’t wanted her to figure out quite so soon.
She was adopted.
Mari never told her parents about her discovery, the epiphany only managing to sate her curiosity. Who needed blood relation when her parents loved her like real ones anyway? But as the years passed and certain life changes came up, she couldn’t help but feel intrigued by the mystery of where her DNA came from. The heroism thing had to have some root in genetics, right? Okay, so maybe she was just looking for someone to be mad at besides Master Fu. But still, could she be blamed?
So, when Marinette was thirteen years old, she traced her DNA back to her biological parents. And for a while, that was it. She had once again sated her curiosity. She didn’t need anything else. Her mother was dead, and she doubted her biological father knew a thing about her. So Marinette forgot about her discovery, or at least let it sink into the recesses of her brain. And there it stayed, until she was eighteen.
—* — * — * — * — *
It had to be one of the most accidentally dramatic days possible. Top floor of Wayne Enterprises, in one of Bruce’s massive conference rooms with every member of his large family in attendance. Even Kori and Mar’i were there, and Jason’s boyfriend Roy. Everyone was getting fairly restless, considering that Bruce had only informed a few of them (Read: just Dick, who was vibrating in his seat and not soothing anyone’s nerves) about what they were even all called in for. In their civilian identities, no less. It was very odd. Damian, not least of all, was sitting beside Bruce with his jaw clenched but eyes scanning the room in curiosity. He had come a long way from the surly ten year old, and he hadn’t even killed anyone in four years. He had well and truly become a Bat, and with that progress came the lessening of his old temper and brattiness.
Make note: lessening. Not erasure.
It wasn’t long, maybe ten or fifteen minutes of Bruce checking his phone and grinning secretively without answering anyone’s questions, before a businesslike tap-tap-tap sounded on the door to the conference room. Immediately, everything went silent. Kori, Tim, and Jason stopped trying to get Dick to say anything intelligible and went instead to just keeping the man in his seat at all. Bruce let out a rare, soft chuckle before raising his coffee mug to his lips. He called out:
“Come on in, miss MDC. We’re ready for our meeting,” before taking a long sip.
And as soon as the door opened all the way, admitting a short woman of asian descent with navy black hair brushing the bottom of her shoulder blades and piercing (familiar. Too familiar) deep blue eyes, he promptly choked. Trying his damndest not to get coffee everywhere, Bruce devolved into a coughing fit even as his eyes continued to flitter up to the figure just admitted into the room. The woman pretended not to notice his suffering, closing the door behind her and walking forward towards the side of the rectangular-set-up ring of tables that was closest to her and also unoccupied. She plopped a heavy bag down onto the table, reaching in and pulling out a large red and white polka-dotted journal from within, along with a black pen. But despite her businesslike movements and her silence, nobody missed the way that her far too familiar stunningly blue eyes twinkled in suppressed mirth. She didn’t seem surprised at all.
That was the last time Bruce was ever gonna let Tim do someone’s background check on his own. He should have at least looked at the file Tim had made, but of course not. Tim was capable, he trusted the boy with half of their entire family’s company. One background check on one highly reputable designer? Of course he could trust Tim.
Except apparently not. This is what Bruce got for keeping secrets.
“Marinette Dupain-Cheng,” Bruce spoke once he got a handle of himself, pushing back his chair almost hurriedly and standing. Damian followed suit, laser focused on his father along with everyone else who knew just how out of character the older man was being just then. It was hard to fluster Bruce at all those days, let alone make him choke and hurry to stand. “I— Welcome to WE. I’m—“ Bruce was cut off by a soft chuckle.
“Bruce Wayne, my biological father and employer for the next few weeks. I know,” Marinette interrupted, sending a sly smile his way. “I had a feeling somebody didn’t actually tell you my name. I was planning on coming to Gotham later this year after I graduated Lycee and demanding to get to know you, but it looks like you did the hard work for me without even knowing. But,” her smile widened in good humor as she walked up closer to Bruce, holding her hand out for a shake. “I do have to say, now that I’ve seen you in person I feel a bit cheated. With how tall you are, you’d think I would have inherited at least a couple more inches.”
“Excuse me? Who do you think you are, claiming to be a Wayne?” Damian asked, tone sharp and his emerald eyes glaring straight towards her. Bruce just took Marinette’s hand, shaking it gently from surprise, but his foot gently kicked his son in the ankle.
“Damian,” Bruce said simply, the single name laced with warning as it came out of his mouth. He turned his attention back to the girl in front of him. “It is nice to finally meet you in person, Marinette. I admit, I did not know of our relation until a few years ago, and I wasn’t in the right mindset back then to welcome another child. Besides, I had it on good authority that your adoptive parents are more than wonderful to you.”
Marinette shrugged. “I don’t mind. I didn’t look into who my biological father was until I was thirteen, anyway. I don’t think things would have ended well if you had just shown up in Paris one day asking to be involved in my life. Enough of that though,” Marinette turned to the sixteen year old by Bruce’s side now stiffened and wide-mouthed. His entire expression, subdued as it was, still managed to clearly telegraph betrayal. And then those eyes locked on Marinettes, and the emerald simmered into something much more vile and acidic. Marinette was not perturbed, merely giving the younger boy a smile and holding out her hand for a shake.
“You must be my half-brother, Damian. I expected someone carved out of stone, with how the tabloids paint you as unfeeling and cold,” she joked. Damian glared harder. She raised an eyebrow. “You seem pretty heated and angry, like a hissing cat, to me. And by the way, I never claimed to be a Wayne. My last name is Dupain-Cheng, and I don’t plan on changing it anytime soon. Having the same blood relation as you does not mean I plan to throw away the name given to me by the ones who actually raised me. But, it does mean that I will get to know you one way or another. I’m not easy to get rid of, and I’ve always wanted a sibling or two.”
That was when the room couldn’t hold it any more; everyone bar the three in the center of the room burst out laughing. It wasn’t too raucous, confusion dampening the hysteria that usually would have taken over, but there was a good round of chuckles and laughter. When it settled down, Damian’s shoulders had slightly relaxed but he still hadn’t taken Marinette’s hand. Instead, he turned to his father again.
“Explain.” He demanded. Bruce sighed, his gaze connecting with Marinette’s own identical one. He searched her for any hesitation, but only got a flash of a bright smile in return. Bruce straightened his shoulders, clasping his hands behind his back and turning to face Damian and the rest of the room.
“I found out about Marinette shortly after Damian was… introduced to the family,” Bruce admitted, resisting the urge to glance at Marinette after the hedged mention of how he met Damian. “I decided to scour every resource I had to make sure I couldn’t be surprised by another biological child. And, lo and behold, I found out that I was right to do so. Her biological mother passed away in childbirth however, so she was adopted by a couple in Paris. I did not see any need to contact her at the time. A friend of mine did happen to be in Paris back then though, and hung around to make sure Marinette was being treated well before leaving again.”
“You sent a friend of yours to spy on me?” Marinette asked, but she just sounded thoroughly amused. “Geez. Now I know where I get it from. When I was thirteen, I had a bit of a bad habit of spying on my friends when I was worried instead of confronting them head on. It took a while to grow out of, and even now I can easily slip back into the habit if I’m not careful. But, as great as this reunion is, it isn’t what I’m being paid to be here for,” Her grin turned downright wicked as she snapped open her sketchbook and clicked her pen.
“I am MDC, the owner and CEO of the up and rising fashion label Spotted Designs, where every look will turn heads and ensure confidence. Monsieur Wayne,” her grin turned into a sly smirk when she said his name, which visibly made Bruce twitch. “Has hired me today to design all of you a new outfit for his gala in four months time, as well as a casual outfit of your own choosing should you want one. Before I get started, I would like to ask you to please sign your NDAs, which my assistant and best friend will bring in for you in a few minutes, before we conclude this meeting. I go by an alias for a reason, I value my privacy, and I would prefer it if word did not get out about my being MDC just yet. Being CEO of a business I started from scratch when I’m only eighteen right now will garner attention that I am not patient enough to deal with right now.”
The silence was near palpable until Jason huffed in amusement and remarked: “Yup. I can see the resemblance.”
“Resemblance?” Duke asked, leaning forward with an incredulous look on his face. “It’s like seeing a tiny, genderswapped, innocent copy of Damian. Is anyone else terrified right now?”
“Tt,” Damian tutted, letting a heavy breath out through his nose before shoving his hand forward. He didn’t look pleased, but neither did he look venomous or betrayed anymore. “Miss Dupain-Cheng. I am Damian Wayne, and I look forward to working with you.” He greeted as if the past few minutes hadn’t happened at all. Marinette beamed, letting out a short belt of delighted laughter before clasping his hand firmly with hers.
“My competence always wins people over,” she teased.
“Only if they don’t see you trip over empty air first,” a new voice joined in, lightly joining the teasing. It belonged to a tall, blond haired green eyed man that looked about the same age as Marinette herself. He came carrying a large two-foot stack of papers as easily as if he was only carrying one sheet. Closing the door behind him with his foot, he went around the large square of tables distributing NDAs to everyone who hadn’t already signed one. “Mari’s the clumsiest person I’ve ever seen, but I’ve also seen her hand sew a double sided ball gown with a layer of knife-resistant fabric in less than thirty hours and still threaten anyone to come near with a needle to the eye, so I’ve learned to just not take anything about her at face value anymore.”
“Oh shut up,” Marinette snapped back cheerfully, rolling her eyes. “This is my best friend, assistant, and business partner Adrien Agreste.”
“I deal with all the paperwork and spotlight that she doesn’t want to handle,” he agreed, nearly blinding everyone with his beaming smile. “Now. Please sign these NDAs, and you can experience Marinette’s skill firsthand.”
After papers were signed and Adrien left, Bruce tried to start another conversation with Marinette.
“So, when did you find out—“
“I’m going to start with taking all of your measurements, if you don’t mind. You first, Monsieur Wayne.”
Bruce blinked, not used to being interrupted. “Ah. We can do this tomorrow, I wasn’t expecting—“
“That’s not my fault, Monsieur Wayne. I came here knowing exactly who I was going to deal with, and you want me to make a quite frankly horrifying amount of clothing in a very short amount of time. Any designer lesser than me would be completely incapable of meeting your deadline. I plan on sticking to my schedule, which means that we are going to get everyone’s measurements and a baseline of the kind of designs you all want done today before the end of our scheduled appointment.”
“Marinette, I would really like to talk about—“
“Arms out. And take your suit jacket off, I can’t get an accurate measurement with it,” she once again interrupted, businesslike and efficient as she took her measuring tape and lined it up against various parts of his body, jotting down the results. She didn’t entertain any of his attempts at conversation in the meantime, instead using the dead time to grill Damian on what he wanted for his suit design.
And, like a partnership that never should have existed, Damian merely smirked and played along with her game. He answered her questions thoroughly but precisely, never allowing their father a chance to make actual conversation. Next thing the poor eldest Wayne knew, Marinette had already taken everyone’s measurements and almost an hour had passed. No less than ten pages of her notebook were already filled with neat lines of notes and numbers.
“You really take this whole thing seriously, don’t you?” Tim asked, in the middle of describing his ideal suit to Marinette. She hummed, grinning up at him mysteriously. As if she was in on a joke he hadn’t heard.
“Designing is my life, Monsieur Drake. This company is something I’ve been building from the ground up since I was thirteen, I’ve made my own clothes since I was ten. Of course I take it seriously. Now. I believe that is everything I need,” she stood up, asking a few last second questions as she gathered up her things. Seeing his chance, Brucie walked her to the door.
“Really, Marinette, I would like to talk to you more. Would you like to come to the Manor tonight, for dinner maybe?”
Marinette smirked, opening the door before Bruce could and turning her head to say over her shoulder: “Not tonight, but maybe tomorrow. Do me a favor though, and try not to get too injured on patrol. I need you all in good enough shape to stand while I do your initial fittings later this week. Gotham might need it’s vigilantes, but you will all regret it if you break a bone before I can fit my prototypes to you.”
Nobody was able to say a word before she closed the door behind her and continued briskly to the elevator. Bruce stood, dumbfounded. Tim, Jason, and Dick, after a moment, started cackling.
“Oh yeah. That’s Damian’s sister.”
“Tt. At least this proves it.”
Bruce, suddenly very exhausted, turned to his son while rubbing his forehead. “Proves what, Damian?”
His trademark razor sharp smirk overtook his face as Damian replied: “Your blood children really are much more competent and effective than the strays you took in.”
“Hey!”
—*—*—*—*—*
“You didn’t have a full conversation?” Adrien guessed, looking exactly like the cat who caught the canary. Marinette had her head in her hands, her entire face red.
“I didn't know how to have an actual conversation with them, Adrien! You should have seen it, Monsieur Wayne—“
“You can just say your father, you know.”
“—Wanted to talk about feelings. Emotions! Gooey, family stuff and probably sentimental things. In front of so many people, too. I panicked!”
“You panicked and went full Business Empress mode,” Adrien agreed, patting her back in both comfort and condescension. “It’s okay. You at least agreed to dinner tomorrow night.”
“Fuuuuuuuuuck, I diiiiiid. Quick, let’s come up with a way to fake my kidnapping.”
“No.”
“Damn.”

Infinity War
A/N
Hiya cuties, here’s my first one shot. I hope you guys like the new series. Expect more to come. Also feel free to leave comments and asks if you guys are curious they are always welcome :).
One thing Jason Loved about Gotham was the buildings. They were high. Jumping off of them gave him the adrenaline rush nothing else will.
Although he would never admit it he loved jumping off buildings with Dick. Ever since he was Robin he and Dick would play rooftop tag. Dick, of course, would make it difficult by jumping off roofs and creating some of the best acrobatic tricks.Of course, Jason being Jason didn’t like being shown up. He would try to recreate the stunts but unfortunately, Dick was astronomically flexible, Jason was not.
He would usually end up having to deploy his grapple early.
One very terrifying time his grapple didn't deploy and Dick wound up having to save him. Bruce was of course incredibly pissed off. They wound up having a big blow up and didn’t talk for weeks. Again.
Dick, however, did end up taking Jason to an amusement park and treated him to ice cream. That was one of the best days ever That Jason could remember. Again he will never admit it.
Right now he was racing against Dickface to get to their motorcycles to meet up with bats and bats the second. Marinette was going to be there, she had zeta-beamed from Paris to attend the meeting.
Tony Stark disappeared in an Alien Ship above New York City. The rest of the Avengers or ex-Avengers were missing.
Batcave,Wayne Manor Gotham City,USA 4:30 a.m
“Sup Marinette, what’s our game plan for handling this??” Jason asked once they entered the cave. Marinette was still in her pajamas unlike everyone else who was in their Gear albeit mask-less.
“I tried calling Peter but according to his aunt and mom he’s missing too!!” Marinette exclaimed. Seriously what was it with that boy and his incessant need to get into trouble. He gives a bad name to bug-named superheroes.
“Unfortunately we don’t know what has happened to the Stark boys” Bruce responded. Placing a reassuring hand on Marinettes and Tims shoulders. Both were very close friends with the spider-boy.
“Right now we all need to go to our respective cities or superhero teams and prepare for a possible alien invasion” He continued.
The Bat computer began to beep “Guys I think the possible alien invasion started an hour ago” Oracles voice stated. “Crap for some reason our alerts didn’t respond to the breaches in the atmosphere.”
“Where?” Batman snapped
“Wakanda”
“The closest zeta beam is 4 hours away from Wakanda” Dick noted bringing up his wrist computer and listing zeta beam locations.
“Some of the rouge avengers are there already, allegedly,” Oracle noted.
“We won’t be of use, we have to get ready to defend the rest of earth if the fighting spreads, No one leaves Gotham, let's get prepped and split into teams” Batman ordered.
Bruce was scared, he didn’t want to risk his kids and the last thing he wanted to do was get separated from his kids during an alien invasion.
“The majority of the fighting has decreased and most of the Aliens have been kille- HOLY CRAP the energy signature in Wakanda is off the grid!!” Oracles mechanized voice exclaimed.  Jason was cleaning all of his weapons as well as his “hood’. Marinette changed into all black outfit into some sweats. Everyone else was making sure to get prepped.
For a family worried about an alien invasion they sure seemed to be going about normal. Weirdos.
Crash. Boom
Jason swiveled around and was startled to See Dick doubling over, Damian was frantic at his side trying to ask what was wrong with him. Crash. Jason swiveled around once again but this time he saw Cass doubling over with Bruce trying to help.
This time it was Barbara's voice that can be heard not her voice disguised as Oracle. “Guys something is seriously wrong,”
Marinette was frantically trying to take off her earrings. Tim was helping her. Jason immediately rushed over to help Damian with Dick.
‘Grayson Speak Tell me what is wro-” Damian demanded. Jason was occupied trying to sit him up. A glance to the side revealed Bruce With Tim supporting Cass and Marinette. Jason had never seen a look like that on Bruces' face. Pain and worry etched into every crevice on his face.
“DICK” Jason turned towards Damian's frantic cry. He was horrified to see Dick was Disintegrating. What the hell!?
“Jason” oh. Dick was talking to him and holding his shoulder. “Take care of Dami and the family” terrified blue eyes met Jasons.
“Cease that nonsense Grayson” Damian yelled while clinging to Grayson. Dick hugged him “I’m sorry” Damian lurched forward and he suddenly wasn’t clinging to anything anymore. Damian glanced at his hands wide-eyed they were covered in Ashes, Dicks ashes. Jason pulled him up and took him towards the training area and for once Damian didn't protest.
Cass And Marinette
Bruce was there covered in ash as well staring at his lap. Cass was nowhere to be seen. No. Tim was focused on Marinette, who was disintegrating as well but oddly at a slower pace. Jason immediately knelt next to her.
“W-whats going on, i-it hu-hurts” Marinette wheezed out. She pushed her earrings towards Tim, Tikki was floating nearby terrified at the sight. No way, she couldn’t lose another one of her Ladybugs.
 Bruce was suddenly there.
“Marinette sweetie hold on hold o-please hold on” Holy crap Bruce was crying.
Tim was frantically talking to Tikki Jason only caught snatches. Soul stone. Snap.Avengers. Dying.
He was too focused on his baby sister who was disappearing to listen to the rest. “D-dad no, I don’t wanna go, nonononono, Jace, timmy, I don’t wanna leave” She choked out. With a gasp she finally disappeared too leaving Bruce to clutch at her ashes.
Damian was staring at the sight of his Father clutching at his sister's ashes.
Bruce's face suddenly snapped up and he took off for a mad dash towards the steps, Tim following closely behind. Damian was too occupied staring at the spot where Dick disappeared. Jason noted that his eyes were watering.
Take Care of Dami. Oh, screw it. Jason pulled Damian towards his chest and clutched him towards his chest. “Damian it’s okay, it’s okay I swear we are going to be fine, I promise” Damian breathing suddenly hitched and sobs started coming out. Jason couldn’t help it and allowed the water in his eyes to release as well.
Hearing footsteps he looked to the side and saw Tim was staring wide-eyed at the sight as well. Surprisingly Damian reached out and grabbed his wrist to pull him into the sob fest. Jason readjusted his grip to make space.
“Alfred's Gone,” Tim said in between sobs. “Jon, Artemis, Bizarro, Kori, Beast boy, Roy, and a good chunk of the Justice League have disappeared.” Barbara included. Jason forgot she was there. Jason hated himself at the moment. He had to let go of the group hug to go to the monitor.
If Roy was gone, who was taking care of Lian? A quick hack revealed Oliver clutching to a terrified Lian.
A second hack showed a cheerful Jon munching on a snack next to his parents who were busy typing on their laptops in a restaurant Suddenly he gasped and his granola bars fell. Clark immediately jumped up and in a few seconds Jon disintegrated into ash Lois fell after she didn't have anything to clutch. Jason cut the video feed before he looked at Lanes and Clark's reactions.
Damian was suddenly at his side. Jason heard a soft "no". Dang the poor demon brat just lost his best friend and a bunch of his more patient siblings.
Tim was off trying to help Oracle figure out how much of the superhero team disappeared. Thankfully Stephanie was spared the disappearing.
A few more video feed hacks revealed pretty much the same thing. People disintegrating in front of loved ones and even rivals. Friggin Riddler disintegrated in front of a shocked spoiler. This was happening everywhere! People suddenly turning to ash. How bad did the Avengers screw up?
Bruce was distraught. He has just lost 3 of his children all in under a minute. The only evidence left of Alfred was a pile of ashes. Bruce picked up a vase and immediately threw it towards a wall. He started throwing whatever was in arms reach. A red blur stopped him from throwing another vase.
Tikki.
“BRUCE STOP” She cried. “Don’t do this Marinette, Cass and Dick wouldn’t want you to spiral”
“Well they’re all dead aren't they?” He bit out. Bruce didn't care anymore. Screw her. How dare she. He lost so much. That darkness that had receded inside of him was coming back full force. This time he wasn’t sure if they would be able to come back.
The loss of Dick alone is devastating. He was everyone's favourite brother. Cass was the ultimate overprotective sister, and the one that everyone was extremely protective of. Marinette was sweet and gentle, yet she still had a heart of gold. Both she and Dick were the type of people that made everyone around them fall in love with them. Alfred was his father, he stuck with him for everything
They were all gone.

The Second Gift
Setting: AU!Teen Titans College
Pairing: Victor Stone + Rachel Roth/Cyrae
Rating: M
Author’s Note: Cyrae was my ultimate OTP back in the day, and I appreciate it as either romantic or platonic across fanfiction, the comics, and animated form. If you guys have more NSFW prompts, please let me know! I’d be happy to write more!
Victor leaned back on the couch and watched Rachel open her present. Her eyes widen when she pulled out the Lily Silk flannel pajamas. “Vic…” she whispered. They were navy, the same as her hair dye, with white piping. “H—How…How did you…”
The quarterback grinned and folded his hands. “Some of the other cheerleaders—not saying who”—he added— “saw you add that to your ‘favorites’ on your computer, and I thought that was a nice splurge.” Then he went still. “I hope you don’t mind, but I went up a size, since they say that’s usually more comfortable—”
Rachel shook her head. “No, no, this is perfect!” Her smile widen. “I’m going to wear these tonight!” She noticed Kori, her best friend, nudge Dick and motion with her head to the pajama wear, and bit her lip.
All of her other presents were wonderful, and Rachel made sure that her guests knew how much she appreciated the gift cards and a hardcover book on the history of Wicca. The party ended at one in the morning, after eight hours, and Vic, Kori, Dick, and Garfield stayed behind to help clean up. Then the head cheerleader, her boyfriend, and the campus prankster left, and Rachel locked the front door so no one would suspect that her secret boyfriend had his arms around her from behind, his face in her hair. “Did you have a good time?” he whispered into her neck.
Rachel leaned her head back and arched her backside against his crotch. “I did,” she murmured. She felt his hands’ desire to slide under her dress, fondle with the waistband of her lace bikini, and draw small circles over her sensitive skin. “Hold on—let me change, and we’ll get ready for bed.”
She kissed him over her shoulder and hurried into her room, coming out five minutes later in the silk pajamas. “I love these,” she said, rubbing her cheek against her shoulder.
Vic, already in sweatpants and a sweatshirt, walked over. “I’m glad,” he said, “but I also forgot—I got you another present.”
Rachel’s smile shifted from affectionate to lopsided. “Vic…”
He shook his head. “Nope. Come on. I’ll show you to your room.” He turned out the living room and hallway lights as he followed her into the bedroom. The purple satin sheets were his favorite. He sat behind her and took a deep breath. “You know, one of the things I love most about you is how devoted you are to abstinence until your thirties.”
Rachel nodded with a hum. Even though she tried not to care, she hated how people would make fun of her for not wanting to lose her virginity until marriage or at least her thirties. She was an unplanned baby between two unmarried people and was aware since childhood of the tension between her parents although they loved her unconditionally and never spoke negatively of each other. Fortunately, Vic understood and never questioned her boundaries.
“I’m glad,” she said timidly, though her heart beat faster. She didn’t mind Vic pushing her hair from her face.
“I do remember,” he continued, “when you asked me about sex and all, what it felt like, orgasms…” He reached to his back pocket. “So…I have a treat.” He handed her the small rectangular box with a red ribbon. She glanced nervously at him before she pushed off the ribbon and opened the box, and her eyes widen when she saw its content. “Oh God…” She looked up at him. “Vic…I—I don’t know…how to use it…”
Before Vic could comfort her, she swallowed. “Wait… Do you—Are you saying…now?”
“It’s your birthday,” he reminded her. “Do what you want.”
Rachel closed her eyes and took a shaky breath. “Hold on…” Vic watched her crawl to her nightstand and obviously gulp down a sedative, which she took every night before an exam or cheering competition. Then she slowly made her way back to him and sat up on her knees. “Yeah. I…I’ll try this.” She turned her head bashfully. “Will…Will you help me?”
Smiling, Vic kissed her cheek. “Of course.” He turned around to kiss her and lowered her onto the bed. She still tasted of spearmint and smelled of Opium. He planted kisses down her jaw to her throat and suprasternal notch. “Well, first, I think we have to take this off first.” He supported himself by his elbows and slowly unbuttoned her pajama top, kissing the sternum and skin he exposed.
Rachel arched her back and already missed the feeling of silk against her bare nipples and breasts. Her eyes closed, but even though Vic helped her arms out of the sleeves, he didn’t kiss or suck on her breasts or nipples—which he usually did when they made out. Instead, he kissed her, and she hazily watched him bare her bottom half.
Vic pulled out the vibrator and turned it on, first at the lowest setting. It was so calming and therapeutic. As he kissed her even slower, he traced the tool down her throat, around her left breast, and then circled her nipple, watching it slowly harden.
Rachel choked and arched her hips, but Vic didn’t stop. Instead, he increased the setting as he moved on to her other breast, her nipple already erect. “Feel good?” He knew he did; the more elongated her nipple became, the more he could feel it under his pants.
His partner swallowed, which he took as permission to move the vibrator down her abdominal line. Her fingers flew up to grab the fabric of her pillowcase in reaction, and the tip circled around and inside her navel. Her hips shifted, and her chest arched. “Oh…Oh God…”
He stroked her hair but left her side. “Relax,” he whispered. He trailed the vibrator up the bottom of her thigh to spread her legs. As much as he wanted to go down on her, which he was planning for winter break, he instead slid it up and down the junction between her crotch and leg, and on to the other side. Her forehead was already shiny, and he grinned. Then he slowly rubbed her clit in careful circles, holding her down by her stomach. She smelled wonderful. He wanted to taste it.
“I promise, we’ll go slow,” he reassured her.
“Just do it already,” she pleaded through clenched teeth.
Vic treated it as though he was penetrating her with himself. First, he guided in the tip, listening for any discomfort. When she didn’t give any, he moved in slow as she tried sucking it in. She gripped her thighs, and her hips rose from the bed. Her moaning increased even after he filled her. She wouldn’t stop whispering, “Oh”, “Oh God”, “Oh Vic”. He teased her for a few minutes and then twisted the vibrator to the left. Her teeth nearly pierced her lip, and her fingertips pushed into the tops of her thighs. When he fully turned it, he increased the setting, and she threw herself back, only to tighten up again.
“Harder,” she whined as she grinded her back teeth.
Vic knew what she wanted but didn’t have the heart to pretend that he didn’t hear her. With the vibrator at the highest setting, he pushed in and out. “Does this feel good?”
Rachel rocked her hips with him and grabbed his shoulders. “Yes…”
Vic carefully went faster. His arm ached, but he envisioned himself as the one in her and between her legs, using his own anatomy to go in and out of her, giving her pleasure while creating his own. He increased the setting to the third level of intensity. Her breasts rocked with each thrust, and her toes sank into the sheets. Her legs widened even more as the pleasure started to grow under her navel. She panted and squealed, and winced repeatedly, and her toes curled. She was on the edge, like she was standing tiptoe on the edge of a cliff. Vic went harder until she couldn’t even feel the liquid escaping her body and streaming down her backside.
Rachel didn’t scream, but she made a loud grunt and squeal at once, and she twitched between gasps and grips on her bedsheets. Flashes and sparks blinded her, as though she had entered a whole new realm of being.
Watching a woman have her first ever orgasm gave Vic satisfaction, but for some reason, watching Rachel’s own increased his sense of importance. As her eyelids fluttered and her chest heaved, he stroked her wet hair and lowered the setting to the first level without removing it from her. He waited for her to catch her breath and then pulled it out. She shivered, and her legs jumped.
“Oh God,” she whispered with closed eyes. “Oh Vic…”
Grinning, he supported himself on his elbow. “Well?”
Her glassy eyes slowly moved to his direction. “Do you…” She swallowed. “Do you want me to say, ‘best birthday ever’?”
Vic chuckled. “Well, that wasn’t what I was expecting, but I can go with that! I gave you, the gift…of pleasure.”
Rachel sheepishly smiled and reached for him. “I’ll say it anyway. At least I’m not celibate—not that there’s anything wrong with that.”
Vic kissed her forehead and hurried to the bathroom to clean the vibrator according to the directions, and came back to find her already under the covers, her arms encircled around her pillow. She was still naked. To be fair, he stripped down to his boxers and crawled into bed beside her. She turned and pulled him in for a kiss. “You know why I’m glad these sheets aren’t real silk?” he whispered.
“Why?”
Her voice, as silky smooth as her bare back and hip, led to him lying her on her back and kissing down her neck. She laughed until she heard a familiar hum but felt it against her leg before she heard it. Then it was against her labia and clit.
“Come on, Rachel,” he purred with his tongue lapping at her nipple and the vibrations feeling for her entrance at the same time. “All night long…”

Don’t Tell Me Part 8
A/N: And…here’s Part 8! I kind of thought it would have taken longer for me to post it, but I guess the inspiration was coming to me like visions, so I finished it in no time! There will be an epilogue as a Part 9 (with smut!) if anyone is interested in it. I did get teary eyed writing this, and I hope you all enjoy it!
Warnings: Language.
Don’t Tell Me Part 8
3 Months Later
Y/N’s Point of View
I’m having a hard time climbing out of bed. After feeling queasy last night, I just want to lie in bed, watch an old renaissance Disney movie, eat whatever I’m craving, and just rub my baby bump, and talk to the little boy I’m carrying.
I’m definitely in the mood for tacos.
The thought of giving birth to a baby boy who will surely look and most likely act like Jason terrifies me. We haven’t spoken since that morning I left, but I know he watches me every day and every night, because I know his eyes are the ones who follow my every move. I can always sense Jason’s protectiveness. His shadow resembles a guardian angel’s sometimes, especially when I feel more alone than ever. My apartment door opens and closes. “Y/LN! I come bringing food that I believe will satisfy your cravings!” Damian calls out. I grin wildly, and I climb out of bed to greet Damian in the kitchen. He holds up a sophisticated looking lunch carrier, and hands me a sandwich. “It’s healthy, Y/LN. It’s a tuna fish sandwich with pickles inside. Pennyworth and I want to make sure you’re eating well since my nephew needs to be developed greatly if he is to fight alongside me one day. You only have three months left of pregnancy, and do not forget our class tonight at the clinic. But returning to my original point, I will not tolerate a weak nephew, and I-” The second I taste it, my mouth waters with my gag reflex kicking in. It’s disgusting! It smells awful! “Oh my God!” I cry out. Covering my mouth, I run to the kitchen trash can, and I throw away the sandwich as I puke up the food my cravings do not accept. Damian signs regretfully. “I’m truly sorry, Y/N. I-I didn’t think tuna fish and pickles were in your ‘bad food’ list. Perhaps something else will satisfy your hunger. Does anything come to mind? Just tell me now and I’ll go fetch it for you.” I groan miserably and end up on the couch. Damian follows me, and he sits beside me where he rubs my swollen belly. “You know Y/LN, despite this child belonging to Todd, I am quite grateful you were impregnated. I was always treated unfairly as a small child in our family, and now that there is a much younger male coming into our family, I can finally be viewed as an equal amongst Grayson, Todd, and Drake. And even if you’re raising this child as a single parent, I will gladly and willingly assist you if you acquire any help necessary. With my knowledge and skills, I can help raise this child to exceed all great expectations,” Damian reassures me. I smile, even when Jason’s brought up, it just reminds me of how he’s not here and how he’ll probably never be around to see our son. “Have you thought of names, Y/LN? If I may suggest, name the child after me. Damian is a true warrior’s name. After all, if the child is going to be raised with me around, my name can rub off on him and he will surely look up to me. I will be the most fit role model, and I will never let you two down,” Damian continues. I notice I’m getting sleepy again. Between my sick stomach, growing worries of being a single parent, and missing Jason more than anything, my body and mind’s stresses me to the point where I’m lying on the couch. Damian takes notice, and he reaches for the throw blanket nearby and covers me. He kicks off his shoes, sits up, and holds my legs in his lap. “I’m sorry, Y/N. Please do not worry or be sad. You’re not alone, and I will make sure you and the child will be taken care of. I promise Todd that, as well.” I fall asleep to Damian’s soothing words, and with the comfort of his hand caressing my big bump.
Tim’s point of view
Waking to complete silence is almost foreign to me. I’ve become used to beeping sounds from my computers, tablets, anything electronic, really. The curtains are pulled back, and the sunlight brightens the dark room I’ve called my own Batcave since I was Robin. I rub my eyes, and I force myself to get up to shower. Ever since the family saved me, I’ve become a patient in this home. Bruce has made it his mission to rehabilitate me, Alfred counsels me from time to time, Dick exercises and trains with me, and even Superman has brought me to the Watchtower to work with him on cases and missions; just to keep me busy. I suppose I’m getting better, and the guilt I feel every day is enough for me to want to get better. I haven’t even seen or spoken to Y/N or Jason since that morning I heard she left. They’re probably happy together now, and who can blame them? I wasn’t enough for Y/N, and I’m more than positive Jason hates me more than he’s ever hated me before. It’s almost the afternoon. It’s time to meditate. I sit cross legged on the yoga mat Barbara gave me, and I close my eyes. Breathing in. Breathing out. Relaxing every muscle in his tense body. Releasing all the harsh breaths. Tim finds himself in good silence. He imagines all his demons and guilt will be put to rest, but he even doubts anyone else will forgive him and move on. “Mind some company?” Jason’s voice startles Tim. After his initial shock, Tim motions for Jason to sit beside him. Jason looks worn out. A stubble is growing on his strong jawline, there are bags underneath his eyes, and he looks exhausted and weak. Tim for once in his life, felt that he looked better than Jason for once. The little comment in his head warns him to not get carried away with comparing himself to his brother. The two Batboys sit side by side on the purple yoga mat. Tim knows from Bruce’s advice that the only way he can move on from all of this is to face his problems, make amends, forgive himself, and look forward. Easier said than done. Tim keeps his eyes open, as his gaze stays on the bamboo plant growing in an emerald colored vase. Jason finds where Tim’s staring, and does the same. “You hate me, don’t you?” Jason asks. His voice is low, and there’s guilt in him. “I can’t hate you, when I already hate myself,” Tim whispers, only enough for Jason to hear him. Jason scoffs. “Why do you hate yourself? You were infected by Joker’s secret microchip in the back of your neck. If anything, you’re a fucking victim. As for me, I’m the reason why Y/N cheated on you.” “Look,” Tim’s voice breaks for a second. He’s in the verge of crying, but the last thing he wants is to cry in front of Jason fucking Todd. “I do take full responsibility and I’m already accepting the consequences of my actions for what I did to Y/N, but it doesn’t excuse everything I’ve done. I could have killed her and the baby. And as for our relationship, it was doomed since the beginning it started. W-what happened between Y/N and I, it was both of our mistakes. You’re not exactly a reason, Jason.” “What do you mean?” Jason sobs. He’s clearly not caring anymore if anyone sees him cry. He must be in so much pain, and he’s at the point where he’s releasing his feelings out just so he won’t blow up on anyone. Tim exhales, and focuses on his older brother. Just seeing Jason cry makes Tim realize, the problems are affecting everyone. And the only way to solve them is to address them, forgive themselves, and move forward. “I know I shouldn’t have dated Y/N. I-I guess I was just desperate enough to date a gorgeous, smart, kind, and funny girl just so everyone would see me as...cool. It’s really lame, I know. But being the shortest and younger brother compared to you and Dick, it really takes a toll on you from time to time. I mean, Dick had beautiful women like Barbara and Kori, and you had Isabelle and Artemis. The only girl I dated was Stephanie, and she just used me to be Batgirl at that time. And for once, just seeing Y/N take an interest in me...that made me feel really cool like you and Dick. So, that’s my problem. I got into a relationship just to be cool, and I didn’t even take her feelings seriously,” Tim confesses. He begins to cry, unable to contain himself just to get through this. Jason rubs Tim’s back with support and comfort. “And the thing is...I don’t think I was even ready for a relationship. I’m not ready to be dating, engaged, or even having sexual relations with someone, when I’m not even comfortable with myself. And just admitting this and hearing it now just makes me seem more pathetic than anything. Huh?” Jason shakes his head. “No Tim, you’re not pathetic. The fact that you can tell the truth makes you stronger than you think. You’re brave enough to admit it, and here I am...a fucking coward who can’t even talk to the woman he’s in love with,” Jason says softly. “I’m fucking pathetic.” “I know you love Y/N, and I know she loves you. But I don’t know why you’re still here when you should be with her when she needs you the most.” “I need to be here for you because you’re my brother, Tim. I can’t just leave you and be with her after everything that has happened,” Jason says regrettably. “She doesn’t even want me around.” “After everything that has happened, Jason, I just...I just want things to go back to normal. I just want us to be brothers and friends again. I want to go back to creating more gadgets, and sort through the files in the cave that are probably not alphabetized or even organized. And even if Y/N and I don’t love each other the way we thought we did, I just want us to love each other as friends, because at the end of the day, she was a good friend to me and I rather have her in my life than not in it at all,” Tim admits. “Just don’t tell me about your sex life with her, and I’ll be good. I swear.” “You really mean all that?” Jason asks softly. He chuckles at the last part Tim says. Tim’s baby blue eyes tear up. He nods his head and hugs his brother. The two embrace each other and forgive each other the way they need to just so they can move forward. Together. “I’m sorry, Tim. I’m so sorry for everything,” Jason apologizes sincerely. “I’m sorry too, Jay. I just...I just want things to get better. I want to feel better,” Tim chokes out. “You will, Tim. You will. We all will.” Tim pulls away and wipes his tears away. “And Jason?” “Yeah Tim?” Jason responds; rubbing his own eyes. “Please tell me Damian isn’t going to influence your son. We don’t need a second Damian.” Jason laughs, for the first time in three long months. “I sure hope not. If he does, then I hope we’ll be ready for war at the Manor.”
Y/N’s Point of View
I must have been asleep for a long time; a long nap to be exact. I wake to a hungry stomach, and with Damian’s head beside mine. He’s lying in front of me, with my back against the couch. We must have been really exhausted to sleep for four-five hours. This pregnancy has been very difficult, very frightening, but a learning and tiring experience. I’m so hungry right now. I glance down and smile how Damian is fast asleep. His face is close to mine, as we are sharing the same pillow. As I’m bundled in a blanket, he’s sleeping without one; since he figures I need it more than him. His mouth is in a pouting form, and his dark hair that was once spiked is now messy and wavy from the nap. Damian’s a good kid. Maybe a little rough around the edges, but he’s grown up to be someone good. I really hope my son will be the same, too. “Damian,” I whisper. I gently shake his arm. Damian awakens in panic. He sits up and looks all around us. “Y/N? What’s the matter? Is something wrong with the child?” he asks worriedly. “No, no of course not. I’m sorry to make you think something’s wrong, but I’m just hungry,” I say. “Okay, then I shall get us some food. Do you have anything in mind?” Damian asks, rubbing the sleepiness from his piercing green eyes. A knock on the door alarms us. Damian is the first to move to the door. He peers through the keyhole, and groans in protest. “Y/N, you should go hide. I wasn’t aware imbeciles would be harassing us at this hour,” Damian says in annoyance. “Damian, you little shit! Open this fucking door right now, or I’m going to rip out your spine from your body and shove it so far up your ass, you’ll be shitting out bones for a year!” Jason yells furiously through the door. “You better believe him, demon spawn. He’s taking off his gloves right now,” Tim’s voice is heard from behind the door, too. “If you believe you can speak to me like that Todd, then I’ll just ask the Joker for a spare crowbar and I can reenact your little, pathetic torture session and make sure Father’s late to save you again!” Damian retorts enraged. “Why you fucking little-” I quickly get up and push Damian aside, before Jason can finish his next deadly threat. The second I open the front door, there stands Jason and Tim. The way all our eyes meet is the second I stop breathing. After only three months of not seeing either of them, it’s like seeing them again for the first time. Like the first time at Bat Burger. I look to Jason and see how he’s standing tall, but his head is lowered as if he knows he shouldn’t be here. He’s dressed in dark pants with his red hoodie. His hair is messy, and his alluring blue eyes show all the trouble and guilt he’s been dealing with since I left. Tim looks well since everything that has happened. He’s dressed in his dress pants and a blue polo shirt. He looks refreshed and healthy, and a small positive smile is on his face. It makes me feel a little better just seeing him smile. “Hi Y/N,” Tim greets me softly first. “Can we talk? All three of us?” “Why?” I ask nervously. What could they possibly have to say to me, except ‘we hate you and want you dead’ or something? “Please...” Jason’s voice cracks. He must be afraid I’ll say no and turn him away. It kills me to see him so distraught. “It will help us,” Tim vows politely. “I promise.” Damian scoffs. He stands in front of me with his arms crossed. “Only five minutes you fools, because Y/N is pregnant, and she doesn’t require any more stress or pressure. We must keep the child happy, healthy, and loved,” Damian says seriously. “Since when did you become a baby expert?” Tim asks him. “Since the day I vowed to assist and care for Y/N and her son since the child will need a strong role model to protect her. And I believe I meet all of the requirements, and I am best suited for the job,” Damian explains. Jason rolls his eyes. He then steps forward and comes closer to me. After three months of not seeing each other (except for him following me around), he sees how much I’ve changed. The baby bump is bigger, and I have three months left to go before our son is born. “You look beautiful,” Jason whispers to me. “Thank you,” I reply, not even sure what to say at the moment. Tim strolls over to me. He slowly reaches out for my hand, and he holds it gently. I squeeze his hand to let him know I trust him. “Let’s talk first, because after we’re done, I think Jason has a lot to say,” Tim says, as he leads us to my balcony to talk. The second the sliding door closes, we’re facing each other. The silence is comfortable for a while, until I realize we have to speak for us to fix our problems. “Sometimes I wish we didn’t have to say anything. Like, the silence is enough for us to know what we’re thinking. Wouldn’t it make life easier?” I ask, breaking the ice slowly but surely. “If life was easy, then life wouldn’t be worth living, now would it?” Tim asks. “That’s right, I forget how you firmly believe problems and bad things make life worth living,” I say with a laugh. I look over at him. “It’s like, life isn’t real unless you suffer sometimes. Just like if you don’t experience pain, then you’re not really alive.” “It’s about the journey, Y/N. We’re human. We’re supposed to feel happiness, sadness, embarrassment, pain, joy, fear, love, and loss. Because if none of those things existed, then what is our true purpose to live? How do we get to our destination? What is the point in living?” Tim asks me seriously. “And if we couldn’t speak, then how can we differentiate voices and that wouldn’t make life fun. I believe speaking is more fun than communicating in minds.” He’s always been passionate about philosophy. That’s always been Tim’s secret. “I get it, Tim. God, you’re so stubborn,” I tease playfully. I reach across to shove him away but he doesn’t even move. “Then don’t question my philosophical opinions.” “Next time I won’t,” I agree. We fall back into a silence until Tim glances at me. “I already know we’re not going to be together. I know we can’t be together. And to be perfectly honest, I think it’s for the best, Y/N. I...entered this relationship with other goals in mind. I was only dating you because for the first time in my life, I felt and truly believed I was like Dick and Jason. I felt so cool being a hero with a beautiful girl like you. I realize now that I can’t be in a relationship because I have to learn to love myself, and be comfortable in my own skin, before I can love anyone else. I wasn’t honest with you, and I’m really sorry about that. Even if we’re not in love with each other, I really love you as a friend, and I hope we can still be friends,” Tim confesses. He takes a deep breath, and he feels the heavy weight being lifted off his shoulders. “I want us to be how we were in the beginning. Close friends who can call each other late at night just to about our crazy dreams. Close friends who pig out on Friday nights and watch stupid movies. Close friends who are there to pick each other up whenever we fall. That’s what I want the most.” I smile, even feeling relieved because Tim’s friendship is what I want the most, too. “I want that too, Tim. I want it more than anything, and I’m still sorry I cheated on you. I should have never done that,” I apologize. Tears fall from my eyes because I hope he can forgive me. Tim’s eyes tear up as well. “And I’m sorry about everything else. Kidnapping you, putting a microchip in your neck, and for trying to kill you...and your baby...” Tim cries a lot harder now. “You weren’t yourself. It’s okay, Tim. The baby and I are just fine,” I reassure him softly. “I know, but it kills me to know I almost did. How about we just...move forward? Whatever happened back then, it’s all behind us. If we keep bringing up the past, then the past isn’t really behind us. I know we all did things we’re not proud of and have done things that are not right. I...want to be a better person. I even want to take better care of myself, and as long as you and Jason are next to me, then this family can get through anything,” Tim says, and with a small smile, he hugs me. I hug him back. I can feel Tim’s tears falling down his shirt, where my head is pressed against. We cry. We hug. We decide as friends to move forward. “Moving forward?” Tim whispers in my ear. “Moving forward.” And we take that first step together.
We head back inside after spending an hour out on the balcony. Tim and I spot Jason and Damian sitting in the living room, far away from each other. Damian’s seated in the middle of the couch, with Jason seated in my recliner chair.
“That was an hour, Drake. I precisely said five minutes,” Damian snaps. Jason stands up the moment I walk into the living room. “We’re okay, Jason,” Tim informs him. Jason nods his head and rubs the back of his neck anxiously. “Maybe we should...” he begins and then stops. “I don’t want to talk right now. Can’t we just...take things slow and go from there when we’re comfortable and things aren’t confusing?” I ask, silently hoping he agrees with me. I can’t be worried right now. I can’t stress over the situation of us. I have to think about our baby. “Yes, we can do that,” Jason agrees, and nods his head. Even with our new agreement, it doesn’t take too long for Jason to realize we’re okay. He rushes to me and hugs me; not too tightly to hurt the baby, though. The way our bodies are pressed against each other, I finally feel safe and at home. Jason barely pulls away from me and I take a daring chance to stand on my tippy toes to kiss him. The way our lips brush up against each other reignites the fire between us once more. The fireworks shoot throughout my body to my sensitive but pleasurable core. He can feel it too. The second our mouths open, Jason slips his tongue into my mouth and we once again, savor each other’s kisses and taste. “Okay, you are both expecting a child already. Do you really want to put another child inside Y/N at this moment?” Damian asks with serious concern. But then he smirks. “Perhaps a niece this time. Get going on it, Todd. You should still have some good swimmers.” Tim chuckles. “Come on, Damian. Let’s give them a little privacy.” “I already know how babies are created, Drake. I do not need another lecture.” “Okay, how about we go back to the Manor and Google porn?” Tim suggests. “We can watch videos and critique them. I used to do that with Dick and Jason way back then.” Damian exhales, and glances back at Y/N and Jason making out. “Well, why not? It’s better than getting the live show here. And besides, Drake. Grayson has Gordon, Todd has Y/LN, and we only have each other,” Damian points out. Tim and Damian...friends? “Somebody please help me.”

Titans S2 - E1 Review
Spoilers below the cut!
So Season 2 picked up with where S1 left off, as was expected. I have to say, I would have much preferred everything that happened in the first two-thirds of the episode to have been in its own season finale for S1. I think most of the problems I had could have been solved with the extra time they would have had if they had made the end of the first season actually happen in the first season. It's more evident than ever that the crew were blind-sided by having a renewal of their show and their lack of confidence there is concerning. Though probably valid given how many kinks season one had. I do have to applaud the writer for listening to feedback given by the majority of fans and making the show more lighthearted and wholesome. I can only hope the cinematographers will follow suit next season, given as they obviously ignored the outcry against the de-saturating filters.
I know many people were hoping for a new title sequence, as was I, but at this point that detail is something I hardly care about and really should not be a deal breaker for people. It's just a title.
The beginning of the episode I thought started off strong. Right away, I could see the improvement in the script. There was loads of solid dialogue, some funny, some heartwarming, some heartbreaking. There were a few scenes that lacked that luster for me, but I’ll get into those later. For now, let's focus on some of the positives.
I knew from the synopsis of the episode that there would be some great moments between Gar and Rachel, and boy was I pleased with what I got! Gar immediately jumps into action and tries to get Rachel to safety. As a longtime BBRae shipper, I definitely appreciated seeing more of Gar’s protective nature. The haunted factor of the house and Dick chasing them was actually more amusing than anything else and Gar shouting “Real life horror movie” as he’s running down the stairs did not help make this part any more suspenseful. However, Kory, Donna, and Jason’s nightmares brought out the sense of doom and thrill.
I loved the angst of this episode! Kory being tested once again with the choice to kill, Donna getting some backstory (and a tragic one at that), and the foreshadowing of Jason’s transformation into the Redhood where all great ways to push these characters into the darkness. Donna’s was a little rushed, but I do like that they were brief and I wish Dick’s nightmare (that took up the entire last episode of season one) had been the same way.
The biggest punch to the gut in this episode was when Gar was beaten to a pulp. First Young Justice and now Titans? Can DC please stop making “beating up Gar” a trend? But in all seriousness, it was actually for the best. Gar being hurt or dying as always been Raven’s breaking point and it was refreshing to see this dynamic played out in the show. Gar is Rachel’s light, her path out of the darkness. Having that light go out is exactly what would drive her to the evil within her. So bravo Titans writers!
I also want to praise how Gar was treated as someone more than simple comedic relief. I know that was a common complaint amongst fans last season, so it was a true pleasure to see him play a significant role in the story. Gar was the hero! If he hadn’t rose from the dead, Rachel would never have snapped out of it long enough to stop her father. So it was really Gar who saved the day and that’s huge for such an underappreciated character! I’m so glad my favorite character finally had his chance in the spotlight.
The BBRae montage was also a very BIG deal for me. Gar was finally able to shift into a new animal (a snake, how biblical) and slithered his way up to a demon-possessed Rachel. He was able to turn back and take her hand, triggering a series of moments the two of them shared throughout the first season. Ryan’s acting once again blew me out of the water and his “Come back to me” to Rachel had me in tears. It was a beautiful scene and one that is now on the top of my favorite scenes list. The only shortcoming in this scene was after he snapped Rachel out of her trace, she hardly blinked an eye at him. Here’s her best friend, bleeding and bruised, back from the dead, and she couldn’t take a second to give him a hug? She caused the end of the world when he died, so her lack of emotion at seeing his return was unconvincing and I’m not sure you to blame for it - the actress, the writers, or the producers? Maybe a combination of the three. Even if she didn’t react in that very moment, she had plenty of time afterwards to say something. Even subtle things, like rubbing his back, holding his hand, asking him how he’s feeling. Any or all of these would have been appropriate. Gar has went through A LOT for Rachel, so I really hope she shows her appreciation sooner rather than later this season.
Moving on from that, the defeat of Trigon was anticlimactic and could have been much more dramatic if it had been done differently. I would say rushing through the Terror of Trigon arc in the first season was a bad move. The first season is about build-up and they had very little of that, which affected the outcome of the final battle. I’ve been told that Trigon will be back and I’m sure he will be, but I hope next time the show takes the time to build up to the final battle.
Going into the last third of the show, I was pleased and entertained. Already, Deathstroke seems like a more intriguing villain than Trigon. Again, I wish this part of the episode was the beginning of season two. If this were its own episode, we could have had more set up for the season. I was disappointed that we didn’t get to see Dick travel across the country with the kids. That would have been adorable and I hope for it in bonus footage later on. Iain Glen’s protral of the Dark Knight was boring to be honest. Not at all how I would imagine Batman. I’m counting on him not being around much this season.
I’m super hyped to see where Kory and Donna end up going. I have a feeling there mini adventure will be very entertaining. Hawk and Dove were once again pointless in this episode and I hope they stay out of the way this season. Jason was actually interesting and fun, so I hope to see good things from him. Now that Dick has most of his Daddy-issues past him, I’ll be most interested to see how he transitions into Nightwing and to see what role Kory plays in that, since she was vital to this in the comics. Then lastly, I hope to see Gar and Rachel’s relationship deepened and fleshed out more. As I said before, I need Gar’s sacrifices and pains to be addressed and for Rachel to show some more empathy to her best friend.
Overall, I feel good about this episode and I have high hopes for the rest of the season. The improvements they made were substantial and worth wild. Gar’s face as he is looking at where the previous Titans once hung their uniforms is priceless and if I get more scenes like that, I will be one happy camper. There are still some hiccups, but I’m really looking forward to seeing the show progress. My rating for this episode is 8/10.

Bad Apple Chapter 2
“Why did you bother to save me?”
Amon simply smiles at the girl as they float through the air. “Because I realized you and I are the same. We both went through hell and made mistakes and are being judged heavily for said mistakes.”
She stares at him in awe. This same boy that she chastised and bashed earlier for mistakenly murdering someone is now on her side for doing something similar even though she did it in the past when she was much younger.
“T-Thanks..”
Dick huffs as he walks up the stairs. He had not spoken to Babs in months ever since she found out about his past one night stand with Cassie and also his past relationship with Helena Bertinelli.
At first, he was saddened by it but as time went on, resentment began to grow within him as he began to realize that Jason was right. Babs was taking things out of context. Besides, why judge him on his past relationships when she has dated a couple guys as well?
Need to settle this once and for all.
He stops at the door and knocks on it. He does not hear a response.
He knocks the second time still no response.
He knocks a third time. Yet still no response.
He raises an eyebrow. Making things sketchier is the fact that Babs did not respond at all. Usually if he knocks, she would at least say something or he would hear some shuffling in the background. But there was so sound.
Did she head out? He places a hand on the door knob and turns it and is shocked to find it open. He walks in and discovers clothes all over the place and recognises some menswear nearby.
Suspicious, he heads into the room and finds the door slightly open and his jaw drops as he discovers Babs in bed with another man. It all began to make sense to him. Babs never loved or cared for him because if she did, she would not cheat on him like that. She would not be treating him like that and abuse him for months.
Once he gets over his shock, he bursts into the room, pulls the guy off Babs and punches him hard in the face. “Dick !! Dick!! Stop!!” Barbara yells. Dick growls and pushes her down onto the bed. “SO THIS IS WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN DOING WHILST I WAS AWAY HUH?! SO YOU’VE BEEN CREPEING BEHIND MY BACK YET YOU HAVE THE FUCKING AUDACITY TO CHASTISE ME FOR HAVING FEMALE FRIENDS?! OR EVEN HAVE PAST ROMATIC RELATIONSHIPS? YOU HAVE THE AUDACITY TO ISOLATE ME FROM EVERYONE I LOVE?!!”
Barbara has a fake sad look on her face. “Please...I..I can explain..” It was then that she does something very unexpected, something many warned Dick  about and that was to stand upright as opposed to being an actual cripple.
Dick just explodes right there and lets her have it. “EXPLAIN WHAT?! EXPLAIN YOUR LIES ABOUT THE OTHER GIRLS ESPECIALLY KORI AND CASSIE?!! LISTEN HERE AND LISTEN GOOD!! I HAVE HAD IT WITH YOU AND YOUR BULLSHIT!! YOU NEVER FUCKING CARED OR LOVED ME!! AS I CAN CLEARLY SEE, YOU GOT YOUR LEGS FIXED, YET YOU FUCKING PRETENDED TO BE CRIPPLED TO GAIN CHEAP SYMPATHY AND TRAP ME HUH?!”
He then smirks. “Well guess what? Your evil ends here Babs. It’s over.” With that, he walks out leaving a stunned Barbara behind.
Meanwhile, Adrianna and Adam wait outside for Amon to arrive. They saw the news about Cassie and were just as worried about the girl’s sanity. Sure she did some questionable things but who else hasn’t?
“I expected a lot from Diana not this.” says Adrianna. Adam sighed. “Communication is key in every single relationship. If one fails to communicate, it naturally leads to unnecessary drama. I have been watching the Team and I have been noticing the hypocrisy that they and the Justice League have been encouraging. Case in point, Rose Wilson. We are meant to trust her. I get that Cassie can be very fiesty and hotblooded but Rose herself has said some nasty things. Yet people excuse her.” says Adam.
Before Adrianna could say anything more, a gush of wind announces Osiris’ arrival as he lands in front of them with Cassie in his arms. “Cassie!!” says Adrianna as she rushes over to the girl and pulls her into a hug. Cassie at first is takena aback by this but soon settles into her embrace and hugs the woman back.
“You ok Cassandra?” Adam asked. The girl looked down. “No. Besides I have no powers whatsoever but it’s ok.“
Adam then turns to Amon. “You should have shared your powers with her.” he says. Amon panics. “I do not want to endanger her.”
Adrianna interrupts them. “Now is not the time to discuss this. Let Cassie heal first before we do that.” she says. Cassie was internally grateful for Adrianna for that as they head into the Palace.
There was a feast laid out for her. Realizing how hungry she was, she begins to eat like a lion. The Adam family chuckles with amusement. “It seems all those strong emotions hungered her.”
“It sure did.” Cassie says between mouthfuls. Once she is done, they lead up to one of the guestrooms where she would be staying.
The following morning, Cassie wakes up and at first panics when she realizes that she does not have extra clothing until she spots what looks like a couple of her clothes.
Did Tatiana send these somehow?
Before she could ponder some more, Tatiana pops in the room. “Hi twinnie!!” Cassie jumps out of her bed and rushes towards her sister and scoops her itno a big hug.
“You idiot!! How could you be so selfish?!” Tatiana chastises her. Cassie sighs. “My bad my bad!!‘ They both laughed.
“Good to see you twins are here.” says Adrianna as she pops her head through the door. “Hey sis, go take a shower. I am thinking that some sight seeing here would do us some good.‘ says Tatiana. Cassie nods. “Ok gimme a minute.“
A couple miles away back in the US, everyone had gotten wind of the Dickbabs breakup. “About time tbh. Babs is a bad influence.” says Raven. “Babs started out nice then she just went bonkers.” says Zatanna.
“Thought it was her PTSD acting up but after what Dick told us about her deceit, I am starting to think otherwise.” says Rocket. “How long has she been acting that way?” Kori asked. “Even I don’t know.” says Helena as she sips some coffee.
All of Dick’s exes plus the other girls on the Team minus Cassie were all seated at Rocket’s house discussing the latest gossip. “Does that girl even have any friends?’ Donna asked.
“Not on this Team or the Superhero community that’s for sure.” says Artemis.”Didn’t realize she was that nasty till Dick told us everything she did to him, more or less confirming everything Cassie said about her.” says M’Gann. “Meaning that Babs manipulated and caused most of the drama with her gossip just so she could keep Dick all to herself.” says Stephanie.
“Disgusting. Totally disgusting.“ says Helena. “But Dick is not trophy. He is his own person and deserves a lot of love and respect. Just like Cassie.“ says Kori. They all nodded. “Well she is in Kahndaq right now and I bet Amon will treat her right. Better than both Conner and Tim ever did.“ says Artemis.
“Considering the fact that he stopped her from killing herself, makes perfect sense.“ says  M’Gann. Donna smiles. “I am glad that he saved her. That alone proves that he is not half as bad as people made him out to be. He made a little mistake and has been trying to control himself.“ she says. “Besides we have all lost control of our emotions now that I think about it.“ says Kara, getting a harsh reminder of that time she served as a Red Lantern.
Vanessa hadn’t said anything because her guilt was eating her up inside. “W-Why did I allow Babs to get to me? I have destroyed Cassie’s life.” Donna pats her shoulder. “You have to apologise to Cassie but not now. She needs to calm down.” Vanessa nods.
Tim was in his lab, going through some files he managed to recover from Barabara’s system. The more he looks through things, the more disgusted he gets with Barbara. He looked up to this girl yet he allowed her to stir shit up, to manipulate him into hating both Cassie and Amon.
She had broken security protocol by hacking into toher people’s personal laptops and whatnot and uncovering all sorts of private personal information to use as blackmail. Thank goodness Amon saved Cassie from committing suicide otherwise, he would have laid the smackdown on Babs.
And to think that she lied about her paralysis.
He even found evidence to prove that Babs actually secretly did some surgery without anyone’s knowledge. He is sure that Babs would become Batgirl once again and if she ever does, the entire Batclan will come from her in droves.
Bruce slams his fists onto the table in anger. He cannot believe he allowed Barbara to play all of them like this. He is supposed to be the world’s greatest detective yet he got outsmarted by a devious person like Barbara.
The fact that she used to be Batgirl does not help matters either. He bets that now that Dick has cut her off, she would become Batgirl. He has already told the rest of the Bat clan to be on the lookout for Barbara and also re-welcomed those he had exiled from the family like Helena and Jason back into the fold.
“It just like the saying goes, the worst pain comes from the family.” says Alfred as he comes down into the Cave holding a tray of hot chocolate with Damian right behind him.
“Is it true what I heard about Gordon?” Damian asked. Bruce does not say anything but simply nods. “That evil tramp. She better go hide because if I find her, I shall tear her to shreds!!” says Damian.
“Language Master Damian!!” Alfred chastises her.
Speaking of Barbara, she decided to leave Gotham for a while so that the uproar would die down. She had done some really terrible things indeed and it is best she leaves and then comes back.
Commissioner Gordon was already informed and he has basically disowned his daughter because as far as he was concerned, he never raised his daughter to be like this meaning that she was no different from her psychotic brother James Gordon Jr.
My God what have I done?
Still it was too late, the damage has been done. No one would ever forgive her. She almost ruined a young girl’s life with her actions afterall, it was she that told Vanessa and manipulated her into exposing Cassie’s big secret. Anyway, she is leaving town but not for good.

Old job
Part 1
Damian looked through the file, finally one last one before we can stop this pointless process. The 'interviews' so far consisted of the director asking questions and the photographer taking pictures, with commentary from Kori' when necessary. He didn't have anything to offer in this and wondered not for the first time why he was settled with this, Kori' was more than enough of a company representative, she dated and was previously engaged to the adoptive son, even though he doesn't work for Wayne enterprises. Speaking of Kori, it was nice seeing her, she was more 'grounded' than most people in his family, because she had that empathy link with other's he always felt no matter how guarded he got she would see through it all. That annoyed and frustrated him at first, those were things that caused weakness and could distract people in fights but when he learned that she took her own emotions and drew power from them, well he respected the fact that she never hurt anyone that emotionally hurt her. After all Damian himself spent years learning . It was stupid really but he always felt like she understood him more than the others, and it would be okay because she wasn't around constantly like they were at times. She wouldn't pry, she would know, and she wouldn't ask just accept. But she wasn't necessarily family so a Wayne representative had to be chosen, even though he got done more work than the other jerks in the office in the top they treated him like an adolescent and would give him a job below him just for him to excel at. Mary Gray well she has history as an advertiser for other companies, she got into modeling for an orphanage it seems, unconventional but not unsurprising. No representative present, well if she can carry herself in public then she would definitely be more impressive that the other's we have seen. Then her saw the picture, and wait, wait, wait, that's the girl, the annoying one that had insulted him yesterday and practically embarrassed him in front of a lowly kitchen boy. That can't be right, surely she would have done some research on who was conducting this interview, then again any representative could have done for this interview as he had explained. He glanced up as she entered the room, yup, that's her, well this should be mildly entertaining.  He had an image of her groveling in his head, not an uncommon thought that ran in his head. The infuriating girl thanked the assistant and faced them, she greeted them focusing her gaze on the director. No doubt she had seen the Damian, though she showed great restrain not to expose herself. But Damian knew better he had seen her freeze for a beat before continuing into the room. He was mildly amused at her reluctance to meet anyone else's gaze. Kori' be side him eyed the girl, there was a time wherein front of every blue-eyed black haired girl Kori would look expectantly hoping to see her missing daughter in them. She had taken the disappearance harder than anyone else. Tameranians she explained once loved with their entire being, every single part of them were embedded in those they loved and no one knew that love more than the children of Tamerianians. Sure her family had a lack of love, dating back to the death of her own parents and the disappearance, then death of her younger brother. Damian, oddly enough understood this concept, with his messed up child-hood he still understood the importance of familial ties, sure he never formed any while growing up in the League, everybody even himself and his mother were expendable. But when it came to romantic relationships well he tended to take after his grandfather who had only ever truly loved and care for his grandmother. Thus even though his father and the press were berating him for his lack of romantic interest he was still never truly interested in others. Sure he had experience in dating and the like, but everyone was always the same, they cared more about his name or background more than himself. Plus as the oldest explained maintaining a relationship in their family is likely to end in either a break up or death threat. He heard the director speak, "-you have some experience in children shoots, care to elaborate?" "I started modeling for the orphanage that I lived at,(she took a small unnoticeable paused at Kori's sigh) & it got me into modeling for other children shoots" She conducted herself professionally but something in her statement and practiced facial features told Damian that her past was something she wanted only to glaze over, he suppressed a smirk of defiance, "How does that effect your education?" He asked her. Her eyes flashed for a millisecond in annoyance. "well I started online-home school programs because I was always independent & self-disciplined, it was for this reason that I was able to be emancipated at a young age. This also allowed me to model professionally full time, I spent more of my early life in children campaigns with my manager." She said calmly. He couldn't argue with that, his own education was mostly forwarded because he was advanced in everything, his genetics were perfect after all. But that more irritated him, he had hoped to use that as an excuse to get rid of this child. The photographer called her over to take pictures, as the director looked through the portfolio that she brought both he and Kori' eyed the girl. Now with the camera flash and her movements, he could see something in her that looked familiar, it was annoying to say the least. First of all who did she think she was, a pretty face that pretended to live in an adult world, second she basically refused to meet his gaze avoiding looking towards him in every way while following the photographers instructions. As he watched her he couldn't help think about ways to get back at her for her embarrassment. "Alright, that would be all thank you for your time Miss Gray" the director said. She bowed curiously enough, she did have some background in Asian countries maybe it was a default she developed "thank you for your consideration, I look forward to your contact" she said and started for the door. "won't you need your portfolio, Miss " Damian asked, using the same tone on her that she used on him when they first bumped into each other in front of the building. In front of father, he thought scornfully. She froze for a step then turned with a smile (though Damian could tell she was forcing it more than the first time, still the others wouldn't notice he figured) "That won't be necessary, me and my manager keep recorded files of all the work that I do" she said, facing Damian, he knew he had to keep up appearances so he briefly nodded then went back to his typical look at those below him. "have a nice rest of the day then" Kori' mused, it was then that Damian realized that Kori' was standing aside from him "Alright we will be in touch then, thank you for your time" the director said. She bowed again, respectfully and made her way out. "Now she is a contender" the photographer noted, as he looked through his pictures. "she does have a good history, and she seems to be respectful enough not to cause any trouble" the director mentioned. You clearly never met her outside of work. He was still upset at 'that girl' but watching her force herself to be amical to him felt oddly gratifying, like when taking down a dangerous network of people that were hiding sexual assault and arresting them all. He's not a sadist but seeing other's get what's coming to them was always pleasant, and that girl did not deserve to be a part of his father's company, contracted or not. "What do you think Damian, as our company rep. You have final say." Kori looked at him with those knowing eyes. Had he mentioned how much he hated her for those, because he did, very much hate that about her. Years of dating his adoptive brother coupled with those annoying facial habits he picked up from the man had gone back to bite him. "Well we have to conduct the rest of the interviews and deliberate tomorrow about who would make the cut. But we can mark her name for further research "he said so with a controlled calm voice, feeling the need to emphasize the research part. Clearly they needed to do more work if they were even considering the ignorant, penchant child for the shoot. With that they break for lunch, the photographer and director going their own ways while Damian went back to his office for lunch with Kori' in toe.

November 27, 2020 Game Notes - Home for the Holidays... Not!
April 06, 2085
A hospital isn't the most relaxing of places, but most are in a need of urgent care after the fiasco. The doctors recommended at least two weeks of recovery time for Liv, but there's no rest for the wicked. Liv got patched up enough to be able to walk out of the hospital with the promise of following up with an outpatient clinic over the next few weeks.
Alan is also in and out of the hospital with the same promise. Kory registers Tory and gets treated at the same time. The morning is a busy time for the team, except for Te'ani. He's FINE.
Liv gets back her Godkiller when she gets out of the hospital and meets up with him at the office.
When they do drag themselves into the office their appearances are noticed. Director LeAnne asks - "What happened to you?"
Alan answers with "A bar fight." ... "And what are my agents doing in a bar fight?" Liv answers, "I was stabbed. In a mugging. Wrong place, wrong time." Tory supplies, "My sister erupted as a parapsychic and I got injured in the process." Te'ani, "I don't know what happened to these guys. I'm fine!"
It is clear the Director does not believe our stories. She did appreciate the flowers we sent, however. We're been tasked to complete a few normal missions, but in the "downtime" we work on other business.
We reviewed the GIA notes of the Witch sighting. She was last seen on April 3rd in a raid outside the arcology. They were raiding a location that was dealing drugs, weapons, and other illicit gear. Her profile was flagged as a person of interest, but they were unable to capture her. With us knowing that she has shapeshifting or shapechanging magic, we have almost no chance of tracking her if we head to the location. We shelf the information as a point of interest.
Next we follow-up finding the location of the ceremony. Between referencing the maps from the Black Goat Forest case and the book from the Farm, the team is able to narrow down the most likely location - a spot in the North Cascades & Mt Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. Within that entire 75k square acres of land, while it would make sense... there is another location that would be more opportune for a summoning. There's a spot about six and a half miles northeast that meets all of the requirements - isolation, a good view of the stars.... While Liv has a blond moment, Kory saves the day by pointing out it wouldn't be difficult to use as a summoning point... to supernatural creatures.
We're pretty certain we've narrowed it down. We organize the paperwork and bring it to Director LeAnne. We present the situation and our evidence. She looks at us and the evidence, picks up the phone and starts dialing.
Liv is expecting her to call security and get thrown out.
The phone rings and General Kareebi answers. Director LeAnne demands two squads with power armour to bomb the site. He argues with her, giving excuses for why he can't possibly allocate the resources. He hangs up on her.
Director LeAnne is furious. "He wants to play ball, FINE. I'll play ball... and his are soft and squishy." She picks up the phone and presses a button, looks at us.
"You can be here for this." Liv is intrigued.
"Raimes here." - She has contacted the Global OIS Director Harold Raimes. She lays out the situation and the NEG denial for support.
"Hold please." The hold music is pleasant and last no more than 30 seconds.
Raimes returns and says, "Get him on the line."
LeAnne gets Kareebi on the phone; he's irritated she's calling again. A new voice joins the call. General Simms, head of the Global NEG Military. He demands the support, Kareebi falters, makes excuses.
Simms says, "You are relieved of command. Arrest him." There is screaming and gunfire on Kareebi's end of the line. Simms comes back on the line. There is apparently a situation at the base and he requests LeAnne send a squad to handle the situation until he arrives in three hours. He hangs up.
Raimes says, "Good job, LeAnne. Your team did a good job. Whatever we find there will be a nice feather in your cap."
LeAnne seems pleased when she gets off the phone. "Good job. Make sure this doesn't fall through. Otherwise I assure you it will roll downhill. Take Pahl's team with you."
We prepare for bear in thirty with Pahls at the helm of the Baskerville and head over to the military base.
It is utter chaos. The command is in turmoil, entire units don't have orders - or worse, conflicting orders. No one knows what is going on. Te'ani gets everyone's attention, says he's in charge. Everyone just accepts it, asks him his orders - "No one leave the base." He admits he hadn't thought past that order.
We lock down the base. Around two hours later (3 hours after the telephone call), a transport ship runs low into Seattle airspace and is challenged by Annette's Werewolf. Their IFF codes come back as NEG military and they help to secure the base.
Knowing there are Engels stationed here, we decide to split the party, leaving Annette and her copilot with the dropship to watch things topside. We take three with us to secure the engels and get them in order or under our command. Before we leave, Kory links everyone with a telepathic relay with their permission.
Via Kory's relay Te'ani to our group - "Why am I in charge?" Liv to Te'ani - "Congratulations on being the Director's favorite." Te'ani - "Do we loop them into Kareebi being a shapeshifter?" Liv - "Yes. If they see Kareebi, the orders are shoot to kill."
Everyone locks and loads with those orders.
We make our way down to the mecha hanger and we're confronted by an active Engel - one we're familiar with! The last time we saw it, it was perched on a cargo ship infested with bugs. It turns, looks at us, and waves.
All four engels are active and seem to be protecting the mecha from being piloted. Te'ani asks them to be updated on their situation. They decided because of the conflicting orders, they weren't going to do anything. We inform them that the OIS is in charge, keep pilots away from the armour, and if they see Kareebi... shoot to kill.
The Engel pilot's name is Nigel Otherion, his engel's name is Snick. He'll get the engels in order if we have people up top we trust. We do - Annette! We leave them to their business.
Te'ani relays concerns that everyone in the high command at this base is now suspect as a shifter. When we get to the Tower to lockdown the outside... the situation has escalated. The personnel inside are pointing guns at each other.
Alan gets their attention by demanding they holster their weapons and stand down. Liv mutters she could always just make them lay down their weapons. Te'ani tells Liv to cool it. We discover the personnel are at odds over their orders. Te'ani demands to know who the conflicting orders are coming from - well... from no one. They're using the playbook entry for "lost communications with base command."
Liv, "Are there two books?" Why as a matter of fact... Yes, yes there are.
What a headache. Comparing the books... they're a mess. It's as if anyone who put these into circulation was looking to cause as much chaos as possible. We could choose one or the other to use, but that wouldn't work if any of the personnel transferred out.
We contact the dropship for a copy of THEIR playbook. NONE of the codes are correct.
Kory wants to contact Director LeAnne to give her an update - Liv is against it because our objective of locating Kareebi isn't complete. Kory attempts to contact Director LeAnne... she gets General Simms. She updates him on the situation - the codebooks are all wrong. "Then don't use them. What is the situation with Kareebi?" We haven't located him. "Do not let him escape."
He hangs up. Liv doesn't want to say "I told you so" but...
Everyone seems to have itchy trigger fingers after Te'ani lets it slip there's a shapeshifter on the loose. We regain order by threatening them with our own itchy trigger fingers... on a Werewolf. Annette is happy to oblige the show of power. They fall in line quickly.
She pesters one of the nearest officers for the location of Kareebi's office. "End of the hall, the door with the gold foil. You can't miss it." She gets the attention of the team and they proceed.
It's an absolute bloodbath to put it lightly. When we open the doors, blood rushes into the hall. From what we can tell, there are three fallen soldiers, which the pieces of three more strewn around the room. There seems to be a trail of blood leading into the ventilation shafts. Liv closes the doors of the office after they enter to investigate.
Te'ani - "That's probably too little, too late." Liv - "It can't hurt."
Te'ani was not pleased, considering General Simms directive of "do not let him escape." Liv has a wicked grin on her face when she suggests sending fire through the metal ventilation shafts... but also points out that everyone in the building needs air to breathe.
Alan, "Good idea, but let's hold off on that." Te'ani looks for a way that we can close the ventilation - as a matter of fact... that can be controlled from Kareebi's desk. She spins in the chair before focusing on the controls. She presses a button, the vents close with a "SHUNK!"
New idea! Use electrokenesis, find where an anomaly is in the shaft, then burn it! She closes her eyes, and focuses her electrokenesis. There's nothing in the shafts but... She points to one of the fallen soldiers. "That one is alive." Kory narrows her eyes, looks surprised and shouts. "IT'S KAREEBI!" That probably would have been better shared in the telepathic link.
Kareebi launches tentacles at Kory, who deftly dodges.
Liv, "Hey, I've seen this anime." Kory, "Of course you have." Alan, "It doesn't end well."
Kory reacts by drawing her gun and shooting Kareebi. Te'ani pulls his gun and shoots three times. "Kareebi" is dead. Very, very dead.
We contact General Simms. Kareebi is dead. Simms replies, "That is upsetting. I give you the authorization to get the base under control through any means necessary. I will arrive in three hours."
We make the announcement through Kareebi's office - "The OIS is officially in command of this military base until further notice." With that being officially announced, the confusion on the parade grounds calms down.
We inspect the guy closer - it isn't a monster and it isn't "General Kareebi." We find his TRUE identity. An apparently unregistered sorcerer named Timothy Graine.
A second dropshift arrives promptly 3 hours later. A tall, blond, Nordic viking steps off the craft. The crowd parts for him - even an engel.
He strides into the office, looks at the corpse. "That is not Kareebi. Who is he?" Timothy Graine, an unregistered sorcerer that assumed Kareebi's identity. "He's been here since the graduation. That's upsetting to say the least. You have my thanks. You recovered one of my military bases. I won't forget that." We ask about the air support for our strike. "You have two squads to command. Don't lose any of them and they will follow your orders."
Needless to say, Momma won't be coming Home.
Outstanding Tasks - Thank Patricia Elwood hosting us and humoring our questions (will send dragon tulips) - Follow up with Luanne to see how her status. - Follow up on Weaver's and company's activities. Follow the nightgaunt Itsy Bitsy into the sewers to locate their last known location. Attempt to track them, find the skull. Possibly cross dimensions and locate one of the Society's missing members (Freddy).
Completed - Review the GIA notes from their incident with The Witch. {Date: April 03. Location: Outside arcology. Knowing she has shapeshifting abilities, it will likely be extremely difficult to track her. } - Find "Pristine Forest" for summoning ritual {destroyed with NEG strike}

Asteri Tale Chapter 25 Orion
I didn’t originally plan to have this included but the idea came to me as I was writing 24. It’s cute and adds more to certain characters’ development.
Kelly dragged Kid along until they met up with the rest. After Alex and company's plans failed a message was sent out about the decoys.    "Ey! You alright?" Ria ran over to Kid and Kelly. Pella calmly followed behind.    "Ah! And you are?" Kid blinked rapidly as the young girls flitted around him.    "Riiight, we were never formally introduced." Pella bowed her head politely.    "Shit! You're right!" Ria grinned. "I'm Ria, Imani Ria!" she winked.    "Evaline Capella." Pella bowed again.    "Ah-um, how do you know me?" Kid staggered around. "D-do you know them Dunley san?"    "Yes, their Kanamura's sister's friends." Kelly calmly recited the rehearsed response, in order to keep the guardian business from Kid.    "OH!" Kids eyes lit up. "Nice to meet you then!" The sound of a large group filled the air.    "Geez, why do you have to gt in all these fights with Arlin?" Kori chastised Syrus. He groaned and turned to the side. There were new bandages on his hands.    "Please go easy on him Kanamura chan, its been a long day." Skai chuckled to himself and adjusted his glasses.    "Hearing you say 'chan' is so weird, Noriko!" Jem laughed along with Mini.    "Seriously!" Mini gave Skai a sly grin. He averted his eyes and blushed. Anya giggled and looked over the group gathered then to Kelly.    "How's Tamsin doing?"    "Haven't heard. Saveli and Hiroko were with him." Kelly stated bitterly.   "WHAT?! Something happened to Tamsin after we left?!" Kid panicked.    "The injuries were all superficial but there seemed to be some underlying problem no body knows about." Syrus scrolled through the messages on his phone. Kid sank to the ground. "It's not your fault..." Syrus paused and crouched down next to him. "No one knows why Sevan snapped like that."    "Sevan? That quiet guy in the other class?"    "Yeah, he was pretty out of it all day from what I gather..." Anya thought back to gym.    "He lost it when Hiroko mentioned Yuli." Kid pouted harder. "Tamsin and Yuli were fighting when I got there..."    "They are resting at the park near here if you want to check up on them." Skai waved his phone to Kid with a message displayed with one hand and adjusted his glasses with the other. He offered a sympathetic smile. Kid pursed his lips together and reluctantly stood up. They tried to cheer him up as they walked. Gradually Kid opened up to Ria and Pella. As they entered the park, Owen jogged up to them.    "Right this way!~" he urged in a cheerful tone. Kid stared at yet another unfamiliar face and wandered over tot he shaded bench where Aren and Sal sat. Dread washed over Kid's face.    "T-T-Tamsin!" Kid reached out to touch the bandages on his cheek.    "S-st-stop!" Sal reflexively slapped away Kid's hand. His breathing was still labored. "S-sorry..." Kid unsure of what to do with them, waved his hands around frantically and backed away.    "Did you take care of them Owen?" Pella tugged at his sleeve.    "Obviously." Owen gave a bright grin. "Hiroko helped of course!~"    "Oh?..." Kelly looked around. "Where is she now?"    "She went to get us water." Aren lounged back, propping his elbows on the back of the bench. Owen turned his attention to Kid.    "So, I gotta ask," he paused. Kid looked up terrified. "What were you doing down town? That's not a place for your kind." Owen pushed Kid's chin up with his finger.    "Oh...uh, Murasa took me on a date! We went to this quaint little cafe, the food was really tasty!" all the negative emotions melted away, as Kid recounted his supposed 'date'. The group gawked in disbelief.    "D-date? Uh, Sharpe...that wasn't a date, he was trying to KIDNAP you!" Aren grumbled. Skai face palmed. Various others giggled.    "But, but! He treated me and we talked! He's really nice and super funny!" Kid whined.    "That guy probably doesn't even know the meaning of a 'sense of humor'!" Jem sneered.    "No...that actually sounds about right for him." Syrus confessed contritely.    "Uh huh!" Kori nodded along. Everyone, including Sal looked to Syrus in awe.    "Seriously? We are talking about the same 'Murasa Alex' right?" Skai asked for clarification and adjusted his glasses.    "SEE! He's great!" Kid cheered. "You should try to get along better with him."    "What's so great about that haughty asshole?" Mini struggled to contain her distaste for Alex.    "He's always so nice to me." Kid pouted."If only you'd give him a chance!"    "The feeling would have to be mutual, Sharpe san." Kelly shrugged. "He has no desire to get close to others at all."    "You all aren't trying hard enough." Kid crossed his arms and turned away. "He's like an angel, he even fell from the sky!"    "A-angel?" Anya chuckled, "Sure..."    "He did, it was so cool!" Kid insisted.    "He fell off the roof; that isn't cool, its lame." Sal mocked.    "See...this is why he doesn't like you!" Kid frowned.    "I keep telling you his problem is with me, you all have no reason to hate him so much." Syrus sighed. Mira timidly approached from behind, listening to them bicker.    "And who's fault is that?!" Kori glowered at her brother.    "Mine! I know already..." Syrus bared his fangs. "I had no idea things would end up like this though!"    "What did you do?" Kelly poked Syrus on the arm.    "I-it doesn't matter now...and I wasn't the only one, either." Syrus huffed.    "But you were the worst!" Kori growled. "It was totally uncalled for."    "W-wat-" Mira tried to push her way through.    "Heh, you're always like this Kanamura chan!" Ria laughed.    "Reminds me of my brothers." Pella giggled.    "Totally see it too! Lance is always causing trouble!" Owen snickered.    "I b-brought th-" Mira stood on her tiptoes trying to make her way in.    "Oh, I never got your name!" Kid went to Owen.    "Is that so?" he perked up. "I'm Syvzanna Owen, the little Miss's caretaker." he pointed to Pella.    "Fancy way to say 'babysitter'." Aren jeered.    "Ack..you!" Owen jokingly glared at Aren.    "You should be thanking me for taking care of you so excellently!" He grabbed Aren's cheeks and tugged them.    "Mmrah shtawp et!" Aren whined.    "Quit being weird Owen." Pella sighed. Mira furrowed her eyebrows and took a deep breath.    "You guys sure are friendly with each other!" Kid giggled. "That's so nice."    "I BROUGHT THE DAMN WATER!" Mira shouted at the top of her lungs. The massive crowd all jumped and turned to the petite girl in silence. "How do you feel Tamsin?"    "F-fine...thanks..." Sal put his hands to the sides of his head. She stepped forward and offered a bottle to Aren, then to Sal. Aren took it and chugged half of it in one gulp. Sal looked up to Mira skittishly. His breathing had calmed down. He reached out to grab the spare, his hands shaking. He tried to drink it but couldn't keep his hands steady. Aren got up and let Mira sit next to Sal, to help him. Aren shuffled over to Kid.    "How you doing?" he lightly patted Kid's shoulder.    "I...uh, okay!" Kid answered pensively. "What about you?"    "Starting to get used to this, sadly..." Aren rubbed his abdomen shamefully. "Must have been a lot to take in all at once."    "Why can't everyone get along?" Kid sulked. "Murasa's really not that bad." Aren grimaced. Jem put her hands on her hips.    "What's so great about such a vain ass like him?!"she interrupted. Kid gasped. "You should forget about him and play with me!" Jem grabbed him by the arm and dragged him off. Syrus watched as she pulled him out into the park with a subtle smirk, before walking over to Mira and Sal, who were talking about the fight.    "Uh..h-how..did you do that?" Sal eyed her skeptically.    "Do what?" Mira pursed her lips unsure of what he meant.    "M-my asth-eh?" he started timidly when he noticed Syrus. "You here to laugh at me?"    "No...what do you think about it?" Syrus's red eyes peered deep into Sal's. Sal turned away.    "I don't know, its why I asked!" he snapped.    "Hiroko, do you know what your power is?" Syrus shifted his serious gaze to Mira.    "N-no?" she tensed up.    "Do you get hurt often?" Syrus asked and observed her reactions.    "N-not really?" she answered quizzically, "Why?"    "How long does it normally take your injuries to heal?" his eyes trailed down to his arms, covered by his jacket sleeves.    "Not very...I think?" she cocked her head to the side. Syrus smiled and rolled up one of his sleeves, revealing bandages covering his arm. "Oh my go-"    "It wasn't from the fight earlier, just testing something." Syrus pulled the bandages on his hand loose exposing wounds along his palm and the back of his wrist. Sal's eyes shot open. Mira's face went pale. Syrus put a finger to his lips to shush them then grabbed Mira's hand to place it on his injuries. The wound receded from where her fingers touched him. Reflexively, Mira pulled her hand back, a thin layer of blood coated the tips of her fingers.    "WOAH!" Mira looked to her hands then to Syrus's arm.    "You have healing powers, like i thought..." Syrus readjusted the bandages around his hand.    "W-wait! Th-then I should-!" Mira panicked.    "Its fine." Syrus sighed dismissively.    "There's no way Akseli is responsible for all that." Sal uttered, thinking back to Tuesday, when he caught a glimpse of bandages under the blazer Syrus wore.    "Hush, everyone here has things they'd rather not speak about, even you." Syrus shot Sal a cold look. Sal retreated back then turned toward Mira.    "Well, th-thanks. Now I won't have to hear it from my brother for leaving 'that' at home..." he gave a timid smile and bowed his head.    "What? N-no..its no problem at all!" Mira jumped up and backed away. "My transformation isn't meant for combat, at least this way I can be of some use to everyone!"    "Don't say that!" Syrus barked. "If you hadn't been there things could have ended much worse than they did."    "I-I didn't do much...except piss off Sevan." Mira sulked.    "Heh...you helped more than me." Sal chided himself. "If Murasa hadn't been there to clean up, things would have turned out worse..."    "A-Alex did?" Syrus gasped in surprise.    "He protected Sharpe..." Sal glanced over to Kid. Him and the twins were playing around on the slide. Kid perked up when he noticed Sal watching him.    "That's...something he would do..." Syrus thought out loud. Sal sunk in the bench. Kid leapt off and dashed over.    "It would have been better were I not involved." Sal sighed. "I didn't contribute anything, it was all Saveli out there."    "What! No, don't say that!" Kid pouted. Sal jumped at the expected declaration.    "But its the truth." Sal objected.    "Mmm." Kid groaned and grabbed Sal by the arms. The usual color returned to Sal's face. He stared at Kid in awe as his fatigue dissipated. Syrus shot Sal an inquisitive glance. Sal shook off his uneasy expression and returned a smile to Kid.    "A-as long as everyone is ok, right?" at this Kid beamed brightly. Syrus continued to watch Sal skeptically as Kid dragged him and Mira off to the others in the park. On Kids urging, the rest of the group joined in. After an hour or so passed, everyone gradually went in their separate ways home. Skai's mother picked up Kid and Skai in her car.    "That was so fun!" Kid cheered in the back seat. Skai shifted his gaze away and let out a breathy laugh then adjusted his glasses.    "That's good, dear." Skai's mother chimed in. "That's an amazing gift you have."    "G-gift?" Kid stiffened up in his confusion.    "You're able to gather all different kinds of people around you with ease, I have to thank you for that." she glanced at the boys in the rear view mirror.    "Mom..." Skai scoffed. Kid looked back and forth between them.    "Because he met you, my son's made so many new friends."    "Oh! Haha!" Kid laughed bashfully. "I wish Arata could have been there!" he whined, changing the subject.    "They had things they needed to attend to at home." Skai forced out an excuse and adjusted his glasses. He had almost forgotten the events that transpired earlier in the day.    "I know!" Kid groaned. "Still sucks..." he sulked in his seat. Skai couldn't help but grin at his friend's innocence. "Oh! and Murasa too! I'm sure everyone would like him too if they could get to know him!" Kid eyed Skai expectantly.    "S-sure..." Skai didn't feel like arguing in front of his mother so he agreed and adjusted his glasses. "Not like he beat up your friends or tried to kidnap you or anything..." Once they arrived at Skai's house, they settled in for their sleepover as his mother prepared diner. After eating the day drew to a close.    In the morning, Kid and Skai met up with the group in the plaza. Kid regaled his 'date' with Alex to Tori and Sai. Tori laughed nervously as Kid talked. Sai just snickered to herself. Kid jumped up once he spotted Alex, who happened to be passing by.    "HEEEY, Murasa san!" Kid waved frantically. Alex flinched and stopped walking. "Come heeeere!" Kid beckoned him over. Alex rolled his eyes and reluctantly headed over.    "What is it?" he put his hands on his hips and sighed. Everyone watched with unease.    "Thanks for yesterday, I had a lot of fun on our date!" Kid smiled back. Alex gasped and jumped back, his entire face flushed red. The twins suppresed giggles and Anya chocked on her drink.    "Th-that w-wasn't a d-d-date!" Alex shrieked and ran off.    "Ah..." Kid stared into the space Alex had occupied, gradually growing depressed. Jem and Mini burst out laughing.    "WHAT WAS THAT?" Aren howled laughter. Sal snickered along.    "I never imagined he could make such a face..." Kelly uttered bewildered at everything.    "Sh-Sharpe?" Syrus questioned hesitantly, "Do you even like him enough to want that to have been a date?" Skai and Jem looked up, waiting for the answer.    "Ah...um...w-well, I like girls...so, no" Kid slowly came to the realization of the implications of his excitement, "But that expression was pretty cute."    "...whatever floats your boat, I guess." Sal huffed. Kid frowned while others acted with distaste about Alex. "Why won't people just get along with each other?" Kid pouted as they waited for their lunch orders to arrive.
