The heat was sweltering and Y/N was only getting warmer. The more she fought, the more panic she felt, and the hotter she got. Her bindings were tight to her wrists behind her back and any inch of movement made them tighter and tighter. Finally, she fell back in a slump feeling useless. She was trapped. She couldn’t believe she had been so stupid. She had teamed up with the enemy, trying to get what was rightfully hers. Well, her family’s.

She had met Marc on the hunt and he had promised he could help her find the scarab. And he had. They had been deep in the bowels of the tomb, their path dark and treacherous but she knew where to go. She had a map, a map that had belonged to her father who had walked this path many times before unable to get to the heart of the tomb where the scarab resided. He had been driven mad trying to get his hands on it. And he had never had an assistant who could help. There were traps throughout that no mere mortal was able to navigate. that’s where Marc came in.

He was a unique man. His power was undeniable and Y/N knew her only way into the tomb would be with him by her side. It had worked. They had reached the centre of the tomb and she had finally closed her hands around her long-lost family heirloom, that's when it had all gone dark. As she came too she could feel the throbbing in her head and the sticky coolness of dried blood on her scalp. As her eyes adjusted to the dim lighting she found she was alone. Bound and shut-in with only a sarcophagus for company. Marc and more importantly the scarab was gone. She had been conned. And now she was going to die.

Tears stung her eyes as reality started to set in. How was it going to happen? Overheating? Starvation? Dehydration? Either way, it was going to be pretty.

But then there was a crash from the other side of the stone doorway. Shouting echoed through the chamber though she couldn't tell who was speaking or what they were saying

‘Help! In here help! Please help me!’ she screamed. The stone door grinded as it slid open. And then there he was Marc. He appeared, dishevelled and distressed. ‘Scream all you want, no one’s gonna hear you,’ Marc chuckled as he walked in. ‘What are you doing here?’ ‘Save the questions for after sweetheart, I’m here to rescue you. And then you’re gonna help me not die,’ Marc said coming forward to reach for her bindings but Y/N moved so they were out of his way. ‘You left me for dead and now you want me to help you?’ she scoffed. ‘What makes you think I abandoned you?’ Marc said. ‘I know of your reputation all too well,’ she spat. ‘Don’t bet on that. Besides even if I did I’m your only shot to not die right now so why don’t you start cooperating,’ Marc grunted as he shoved her over so he could access the bindings. ‘Why should I? You didn’t come back for fun. There’s something afoot and my guess is there’s someone on the other side of that door,’ she said, ‘Precisely, which is why you should start cooperating. I’m not the bad guy here,’ Marc said grunting as he wrenched her tethers apart and off of her body.

Y/N got to her feet quickly but stumbled a little as the blood rushed to her head. The heat and her concussion didn’t mix too well. Marc steadied her but she pulled away.

‘The scarab,’ she said holding her hand out. Marc looked at her with disdain but she continued, ‘whatever you want from me you’re not going to get it without this so…your pick?’ ‘Get us out of here and it’s yours,’ he said with a smile. ‘I’m supposed to believe you?’ she scoffed. ‘It’s your only choice,’ he replied. Y/N waited for a moment and then nodded and asked to be filled in on the situation. Marc explained that he had become stuck fleeing the tomb, the twists and turns too hard to navigate without her deep knowledge and to make matters worse there were cult members working their way in from the main entrance. ‘And you want me to what magic a way out?’ she snapped. ‘You and I know there’s definitely another way out of here just find it,’ he retorted. Y/N scowled at him and headed out the way he had come in. She didn’t have her map anymore, it had been taken whilst she was out, but she tuned into the memories of her past and followed the route she knew would get them out. Marc led with her direction listening and following her instructions regarding traps. It took a while but they finally managed to get to a small door at the end of a long tunnel. It was barely one stone thick.

‘You’ll never get through there,’ Y/N said. Marc looked at her livid. ‘I said get us out of here,’ he snapped. ‘I got us an exit,’ she replied, ‘you’ll have to figure it out.’ ‘Oh I can figure it out,’ he said. Soon enough he pushed the brick out of the way and Y/N clambered through the hole into the hot arid desert. She was out all of three seconds when he came out. Different. His clothes hung off of him now and he seemed almost smaller in stature.

‘You’re-’ ‘Stephen. Stephen Grant,’ Stephen said. ‘Marc-’ ‘Is me. It’s complicated,’ Stephen said. ‘You’re still the same person. And you still left me for dead,’ Y/N said. ‘And you’re cute when you’re angry,’ Stephen said. Y/N’s face fell into a scowl and without another word, she turned away and started walking out into the scorching desert. Stephen looked at his watch and saw Marc in its reflection.

‘You’re cute when you’re angry? What are you doing? She’s not your friend and she’s still got the scarab!’ he snarled. ‘She saved our arse,’ Stephen said, ‘besides we need her. Like you said she holds the cards now.’ ‘Suck up. Fine, go and live with her then! See if I care,’ Marc said. Stephen sighed and then started following her footprints in the sand.

I've been going through A Time and have chosen to cope by going back to the specific vibes of 2016 to 2018. That happens to include an incredible resurgence in my love for MCU fanfic, the community around it and all the love that goes into them. I've felt a bit distant from here for a while, but I still see so many of my old friends writing, ones who want to get back into it, and a whole lot of new writers I am dying to meet.

I've floated this idea vaguely on my blog and people seem to be interested so I figured it was worth a shot!

You were a monster who used to work for Khonshu by eating the bodies to get rid of the evidence. It was a win-win for both of you. Marvel characters as your parents

Moon knight

Marc- Marc is the fun dad. He'd make your favorite foods every day and would buy anything you asked for. He'd never yell at you unless it has to do with your safety. Every Friday the two of you would do something fun together. Whether it's mini gulf or board games at home you'd always have fun. If you were to ever be in a bad mood he would make sure you're happy by the end of the day. The idea of you being upset breaks his heart. He'd let you take mental health days off of school whenever you asked him. If you were missing too much school he would see how you feel about a therapist (but he would never force you). At night before bed you would both watch TV in the living room together.

Steven- Steven is overprotective and very anxious around you. He worrys that he won't be a good dad. All he wants is for you to be happy which causes him to stress about you. He'd be the parent who cares more about your education. He'd help you do homework whenever you want. If you were failing a class he'd help you as much as possible. Steven would never yell at you. He's worried he would scare you or upset you. If you ever were to be upset he would immediately blame himself. He'd do anything to make you feel better but he'll feel guilty cause he thinks he's at fault. Steven likes to read to you when he knows your in a bad mood. All together he's very sweet towards you and shows affection often.

Jake: Jake is overprotective as well but he's the opposite of anxious. He's very confident and knows they're all better dad's than their mother. He is very loving and also shows affection towards you. Because he doesn't see you as often as Marc and Steven when you do see each other it's always special. He is the best to react when your upset. He'll immediately comfort you and find out what's wrong. After he finds out what's causing your discomfort he immediately eliminates it. He'll help you get through it no matter what. Jake often takes you to parks to hang out and have a good day. He also drives you around in his car. He'd take you anywhere you asked.

Loki- Loki is a very serious but very loving dad. He didn't have the best relationship with his dad but he wants to make sure you do. Being Loki's daughter means you also have Thor as an uncle. Thor is always excited to see you and usually hangs out with you at least once a week. When Loki had become a dad he decided the best thing to do was to move to Midgard so you grew up on Earth with the avengers. He'd get you anything you want, his only desire is to make you happy. Loki always thinks about you before anyone else. He'd do anything for you.

Bucky- Bucky is very calm as a dad. He'd let you go out with your friends without question. As long as you keep your location on and your phone with you he's on board. He enjoys going on runs with you and will try convincing you to run with him in the mornings. Being Bucky's child means you'll also be close to Steve and Sam. You also talk to Natasha a lot, her almost being a mother figure. Bucky will go out with you every other day doing things like eating out and going to parks. He doesn't care much about your grades but if you ever need help he will. Bucky is a great dad and just wants to spend time with you.

Stephen- Stephen is very protective as a dad. He's stressed something will happen to you 24/7. Everything he does is in hopes to make you safer. He makes sure your always near him in case something like infinity war happens again. Because you are almost always around him, you'll most likely become friends with both Peter Parker and America Chavez. He loves you more than anything but is more of a strict dad. He wants you to go to school and get a good education (hopefully something medicaly related). He'd love if you became a surgeon like him that way he'd be able to help you more. He may seem like a crazy dad from the outside but really just wants you to be safe. If you didn't like how strict he is all you have to do is talk to him and he'd cool down a bit.

Natasha- Natasha is a very calm mom. She is more strict than most of the avengers but it evens out having Yelena as your aunt. Yelena will do ANYTHING with you no matter how dangerous it is. Of course she'll make sure nothing happens to you but she won't stop you from doing things unless they really were too dangerous. Natasha wants you to do good in school even if that means paying for a tutor. If you were upset Natasha would immediately comfort you. She would be very affectionate and would make sure you know your loved.

Peter- (I am doing Peter as your older brother instead just so this makes more sense.) Peter is one of the best people to have as a brother. He knows what it feels like to not really have parents so he makes sure to fill that roll. If you ever struggle with homework he'll help you, most likely doing most of it himself. He is also very affectionate towards you. The two of you are basically best friends, always hanging out together. You also become friends with Mj and Ned. The four of you hang out and always do fun stuff on the weekends. All together you and your brother have a lot of fun together.

Steve- Steve is a very strict dad. Although he is very serious about things like your grades, your health and happiness is his priority. If you have trouble with mental health he will put that first. He will help you solve and problems that you have and make sure you get better. If you need a therapist he'd talk to his friends and see if they recommend anyone. With Steve as your dad, Bucky is almost like your uncle. He's most likely also your godfather. If anything were to happen to Steve, Bucky would always take care of you. Steve and Bucky are both very loving towards you.

Tony- Tony is a pretty cool dad. He doesn't care much about what you do as long as your safe. He doesn't care about your grades as long as you try your best. He'd enjoy when you hang out with him while he's working. Even if your just on your phone. He'd help you with school if you asked him to. The two of you would be pretty close and would most likely spend a lot of time together. You do your homework in his lab while he works and the two of you always eat meals together. If you were struggling with mental health he would comfort you and make sure you don't feel alone. If you agreed he'd find you a good therapist to help you. Tony is a very good dad and always shows his love for you.

Wanda+Vision- Wanda and Vision are very loving parents. You spend your time watching TV and playing games with the two of them. Wanda is very caring, always making sure your happy. She'd do absolutely anything to be with you. Wanda is very protective of you and always wants you to be safe. Vision is very similar as a dad but he's more calm. Vision's favorite thing to do with you is go to the park. He loves seeing you smile and will walk through countless parks with you and Wanda. The three of you have fun together almost daily. Both Wanda and Vision care more about you and your health than school. Over all they are very good parents and would almost never be upset with you.

Matt Murdock- Matt wants you to have a good relationship with him. He always makes sure he's fair causing the two of you get along very well. He's affectionate towards you, wanting to make sure you know how loved you are. His favorite thing to do with you is to just walk around the city and talk about how things have been with you. He just wants to spend time with you, enjoying all the quality time he can get. He often eats dinner with you so he can be around you more. He also let's you hang out by his desk when he's working. If you were to be struggling with mental health he'd know almost immediately. He'd be extra affectionate and would check on you much more often. Eventually he'd talk to you about it and see what he can do to help. He always wants you to be happy and would do anything to ensure you are. He's a very loving dad and would do anything to keep you safe.

Wanda(dsmom)- After your dad and brothers had disappeared you and Wanda moved to a very isolated area. She had become much more protective of you, scared that something bad would happen. She still lets you do everyday things but makes sure your always close enough that if you needed help you could call for her. When she was trying to capture America she would most likely have you stay at a friend's house in fear that she would scare you or you'd be hurt. When she sees America it reminds her of you which scares her but the thought of you alone without your brothers scares her more.

How did you know non-human reader fics were one of my favorites?

I sprinkled in some Steven Grant cuz I am obsessed with him, even though I haven’t watched the show yet, hope that’s okay lmao. I don’t know much about DID so I tried not to mention it much, and used what I know, so hopefully its alright.

I loosely based the readers main appearance of an oc of mine who is something like an eldritch horror themselves ^^

I may have gotten carried away, but enjoy anyways.

Tony Stark

- You meet when Tony is trapped in space with Nebula. You were just floating through space like always, taking in the sights and whatnot when you saw the ship and felt living organisms inside. One of them feels near death though, so you worry.

- You haven’t interacted with many humans in your eternal life, so you panic and slither your everchanging form into the ship towards the dying being. Feeling around you with your smoke like mass, and using your abilities you can tell he is dying from lack of oxygen, so you make some.

- He’s still falling unconscious, but not dying this time. So, you grace his mind just enough to get an impression, and take the form he would find most pleasing to look at. You end up taking him into your now only two arms, and holding him as he rests.

- Things pass like in the movie, except you easily reverse what Thanos did and take the stones away from the ugly grape and fling him into the void.

- Now that the threat is gone you grow close to Tony, and take great interest in human culture. You could learn it all immediately if you pleased, but having Tony show you and explain it made what would be your heart warm up.

- In the beginning Tony, and all his companions, thought you were some type of alien that took human form, like the Skrull. So, it was kinda awkward to explain that you weren’t just that, you were what they called an eldritch horror.

- Tony needed some time to come to terms with it, especially the fact that you were far beyond science. But after a while he seemed to just accept it, giving up that he couldn’t ever figure you out. Though he does try to at times still.

- The two of you start dating, and it takes some time to get used too, mainly for Tony. You grow more comfortable letting your human go and just being more yourself. Though you keep your form mainly human.

- You help out the Avengers at times, but mainly leave it to the heroes to go save the world. Though you will swoop in if they’re in life threatening danger.

- You pick up cooking, though it isn’t very successful in the beginning, but tony seems to be very supportive, though he isn’t that happiest to be the taste tester as some of the dishes he swears are cursed.

- You get better over time though.

- The relationship is announced to the public, and you have to keep your human form when out and about for obvious reasons. The world is led to believe you have shadow based powers and have lived alone for most of your life, which makes up for you not understanding many parts of society just yet.

Stephen Strange

- You meet when Stephen is doing magic work, maybe he has to cross over to the shadow between realities or universes to collect something or fight someone. He catches your attention by entering your domain, which normally no one can enter.

- You keep your attention of the cloaked man, as he moves through your darkness with ease that surprises even you. His cloak flinches back when you reach a shadow up to pull on it, which confirms that it is alive.

- The magic-user walks around your domain for a long time looking for what he’s after, but can’t seem to find head nor tail in the eternal darkness. You feel what’s almost akin to pity, like what you feel when you see a kitten stumble and fall. So, collecting a tiny part of your mass, you take a human-like shape.

- The shape is like if you took shadows and dark mass and shoved it into a human shaped mold. You hadn’t really met humans before and you didn’t want to dig through his mind, so you took the next best option.

- Stephen gets ready to fight when you appear, but when it becomes obvious, you’re friendly he tells you why he’s there and what he’s after. You offer to help him which he hesitates with at first, but ends up accepting. With little work of your powers, you’ve moved the two of you to what he needed

- The two of you fall into talks, you mainly asking questions which he only seems to answer out of politeness as this is your realm, but as time passes, he becomes more friendly. He’s on edge around you in the beginning, but it lessens up.

- When he leaves you vow to visit him regularly, which you then do. You pull apart the curtains of reality and step into whatever room he’s in, and as time passes you start to take a more human form as you learn about them. Though you keep certain features about yourself, like having more than two arms and smoke-like clouds rising from you at times, though Stephen doesn’t seem to mind at all.

- The sorcerer grows to really apricate your company, and he treats you much warmer as time passes.

- You dating is never really said in words, at some point you just start staying with him for longer, you start holding each other and kissing. Its only when Wong tells you to take your sucking faces somewhere else it clicks for the both of you.

- Your relationship continues as normal, doing sorcery things, reading books, traveling places. Though now there’s more physical affection.

- Stephen is very interested in the special brand of magic you use, though you explain it isn’t magic and just more you are bending reality to your will. He’s still very interested though.

- He takes time off from being sorcerer supreme to spend time together, the two of you especially like traveling to other planets or alike to explore or go on holiday.

Steven Grant (Marc and Jake too i guess)

- Unsurprisingly you meet Steven because of moon knight business. You first spotted him when he entered the afterlight as it is partly your domain, but before you could interact with him, he left again. You’re intrigued by the man, so you keep one of your many million eyes on him.

- You let small parts of yourself start to slither into the human realm by poking holes in the fabric that is reality. Normally you would just have shoved a chunk of yourself out there, but the god that follows Steven around would notice immediately. Not that you couldn’t win with ease if the god wanted to fight, but you didn’t feel like it.

- You had planned to grace over his mind for a shape when he slept, but he so rarely did. It made the small part of yourself you had put under his bed jolt as he got right back up, after he had gone to sleep. Flexing your abilities, you figured out there were not one, not two, but three people in the body, one of them being Steven.

- Now you have always been an eternal everchanging being, so it didn’t weird you out or anything, you simply noted down for later to pay attention to who was fronting and that was it.

- Weeks pass like this, and you’re comfortable just watching and observing. That is until Steven apparently gains control of the body in the middle of a battle. He’s lost and doesn’t even realize he’s in a fight until he almost gets punched.

- Steven appears not to be much of a fighter, but you stay still until one of the people he was fighting pulls out a gun, which you now know is a weapon. You collect all the small shadows you’ve had cross over and mash them together to take form. You take a human form, the only thing showing you’re less than human nature are your eyes, which turn pitch black.

- You make quick work of the goons, going as far as to crush the gun in your hand and flinging the people across the street and into a dumpster.

- The god that follows Steven around immediately gets confrontational and curses at you and wants you gone, but you ignore him to crouch down to Steven and ask if he’s alright, lifting a smoke covered hand, where the smoke slithers around and seems to heal whatever bruises and cuts he has.

- It takes some explaining and calming Steven down to explain who and what you are, and why you are there. He blushes when you explain how you found him so interesting and sweet you couldn’t help but want to stick around.

- Khonsu seems to stop his cursing and threats when he figures out you are far beyond even his level of power, though the two of you don’t seem to realize. You don’t even notice when he seems to leave, giving you major side-eye.

- One thing leads to the next and you’re spending a lot of time together, though its just you and Steven since you leave when you notice the other two fronting. You don’t want to make them uncomfortable or anything, and you and Steven thought that since Marc and Jake kept a lot of secrets in the past from him, its okay until you two know each other more.

- When you start officially dating you end up introducing yourself to Marc and Jake, who both seem quite uneasy with you, but when they hear how you and Steven talk about each other they begrudgingly agree.

- They won’t admit it, but they start to like you too, and get red in the face when you compliment them or hug them.

- You and Steven talk about his interests for hours, and you can tell him many things that Khonsu doesn’t know or hasn’t told him, you even go as far as to tell him about how you have your own realm and alike. You visit it at some point, though there isn’t much to see as its just darkness and void.

- Steven helps you learn the ways of the human world, though he struggles with it himself too, so you lean on each other for support. Though most days it can become quite a lot and you’ll just go home and cuddle in bed until Steven falls asleep and either Marc or Jake takes over, the man blushing when they realize they’re in your arms.
