A city councillor in Pickering is calling herself a “modern-day slave” after council voted to dock her pay for 30 days following an investigation by the city’s integrity commissioner.
Coun. Lisa Robinson made the comment in a post on Facebook on Tuesday.
Robinson’s remarks followed a ruling by the integrity commissioner which found that her decision to identify three citizens by name in a Facebook post in which she announced that her annual Halloween event for charity would be cancelled amounted to a “bully tactic” which showed “blatant disregard for the wellbeing of others.”
Council voted to have me work for free for the next 30 days for a ‘sarcastic remark’ on my personal FB post. I am now a modern day slave,” Robinson said in the Tuesday post.
Full article
Someone needs to explain to this white girl that having a month's pay docked for encouraging harassment of citizens she represents as a city councillor is not the same as fucking slavery.
Also there already is modern-day slavery in Canada, Lisa, and it's the prison system. Slavery is not you losing 30 days' pay for being an asshole.

The idea that Black people are predisposed to hating queer people is Anti-Black rascism. The people most hurt by these assertions are not only Black people but queer Black people as well. You are not saving queer people by throwing Black people under the bus, and you'll never save queers by doing that, so just stop.

reasons why i’m ignoring the fact that Aegon is a rapist in the show:
1. it doesn’t affect the plot AT ALL. It doesn’t affect his relationship with Alicent (it was already pretty bad) it doesn’t affect his relationship with Helaena, or their kids, it doesn’t affect his relationship with Otto or Rhaenyra or literally anyone. Dyana doesn’t even exist in the book. She was made by the creators of the show with the one and only purpose of putting Aegon and team green in bad light. Like that detail is just a cheap and unnecessary addition to make us dislike him. Aegon’s main problems should’ve been that he is irresponsible alcoholic, neglects his kids and doesn’t want to be king. That is who he was supposed to be. And overcoming all that was his character arc. Taking responsibility and deciding to protect his family was his character arc. It’s literally never mentioned again. It has no consequences. Dyana doesn’t appear anymore and I don’t think she will in season 2. Everyone just got over it as if it never happened (because it literally shouldn’t have).
for example, you can’t take away/ignore the fact that Viserys is pretty much a rapist because his actions have LOTS of consequences and directly affect the plot. It damages Alicent’s mental stability, it causes her to get pregnant and give birth to new characters, the sole birth of Aegon causes the entire fucking Dance.
One may argue that Daemon doesn’t kill his first wife in the first book, and therefore making him do that in the show was wrong, but at least in the show it fucking affects the plot. Rhea was supposed to die anyway, so by making Daemon kill her (which tbh was kind of implied in the books anyway) it: a) makes Daemon a widower and that allows him to get married again b) makes everyone around him get suspicious c) foreshadows his abusive behavior towards his next two wives, especially Rhaenyra
Rhaenyra kind of raping Criston and essentially using him as a prostitute, also has its effects like a) it causes Criston to go in an entirely opposite direction and switch sides and join Alicent b) it gives Rhaenyra experience in sex and makes her wanna have sex with more men and stuff
But Aegon being a rapist has no long-lasting effect, it was done for no reason. It causes nothing, it doesn’t change anything. It was entirely unnecessary.
that’s it, thanks for everyone’s attention.

Y’know, I always think it’s a little weird seeing those posts about how you should always stim if you feel like stimming, specifically from white people, if only because it’s not safe for a lot of us to stim. I’m not trying to be an ass or something but especially for Black people in the US, stimming is easily deadly in public, even when we’re just kids.
And like, before someone says it: white people stimming in public isn’t really going to make it less dangerous for Black people. Y'all run around with guns too and it hasn't made that easier for us, so let’s not pretend it will. I dunno. I just wish instead of just encouraging people to stim more that we could also be spending more time addressing and combating police brutality in connection to stimming and ableism in general. I see it in some Black disabled communities and a couple others but not in the general actually-autistic community.
(Which isn’t shocking ‘cause y’all hate and/or ignore autistics who aren’t white and talk about racism.)
But this shit is important. The cops don't just frequently murder autistic people for things like stimming, they also help parents and "family members" justify murdering and abusing the autistic people under their care. A lot of you deliberately skim over cops’ participation in systemic and social ableism, physically violent ableism in particular, against autistic people in the US, which is probably because then you’re gonna have to talk about its explicit connection with racism and anti-Blackness in particular.
But if you’re not willing to address that, you don’t really want rights and liberation or whatever for autistic folks. You’re just talking about light and white autistic folks and even then, y’all are still dying so it’s beyond absurd so many of you so determinedly ignore this shit.

I ship sebaciel but I only like their dynamic, in my head I imagine an adult Ciel and I only read fanfics when Ciel is way over 18 and can decide by himself/not be manipulated. I was raped when I was 15, I could never ship something like that. But anti pro shippers never bother to see the nuance. I'm afraid if I start publicly shipping it, people will call me a pedo lol Also I think that the ones who like the age gap still can't be compared to real pedos who consume lolicon/ realistic drawings who REALLY resemble children and explicitly are in a setting of a child being molested. I see incels doing that, and the kuro fandom is mostly women.
Hi, anon. Sorry I didn’t reply yesterday. I had COVID a couple weeks ago and now have bronchitis and i just ran out of gas to formulate a response I felt this ask merited.
First of all, I’m sorry that happened to you. I hope you’ve been able to get past it enough that it doesn’t affect your daily life too badly 🫂.
Sadly, a lot of antis act as if they’re the only ones who have been victims of (sexual) abuse, and that any survivor who doesn’t behave the way they do either must be lying or “deserved” what they got— which is absolutely awful to do to anyone.
As I’m sure you’re aware, we’re not a monolith. Some survivors find rape play (whether role play or in fictional works) helps them move past their trauma because it helps them to have the control they didn’t have as victims. But others find it triggering and upsetting and not helpful at all— and that’s valid too.
I personally don’t ship sc anymore mostly because I just don’t click with Ciel in the ship the way I do with other pairings. I also personally get very very uncomfortable with some underage depictions. For example, there was a fantastic sc fan fic a few years ago that I had to stop reading. It is one of the best written works in the fandom, but it just made me so uncomfortable (it’s underage) I had to stop.
But what did I do? Did i leave the author an angry message saying I was not gonna read it? No, ofc not. I just clicked away.
So if for you, you need situations in which you feel Ciel can fully consent/is in control to feel comfortable and happy then that’s perfectly valid! There’s no one “right” way to ship anything, and you have to look out for yourself first. Because we come to fandom to have fun and escape, so no need to delve into things you don’t like or that make you uncomfortable.
Antis are incapable of seeing these kinds of nuances, or realizing that purposefully consuming content that upsets you is self harm.
Sadly, if you openly ship sc (or even aren’t absolutely against it) you may get some hate. I know I have gotten my share, and it’s *always* about Ciel, no matter how I’ve depicted other characters or what ages they are in my stories. But I’ve also gotten hate for being a fujoshi (misgendering me at that) more than once, and some of it even before I joined the fandom… for my original work.
My point is that people are gonna attack you if they’re gonna attack you…. if you’re not willing to take that risk by being public about your ship that’s valid too. I definitely get how exhausting antis can be and if you’re just wanting to stare at your blorbos for a bit you don’t wanna be fighting of negativity left and right too.
It’s a shame that antis have started using the word pedo as a word for anyone they dislike, devaluing it, but the real shame imo is that they refuse to see that actual CSEM is bad not because it’s gross or immoral but because it harms actual children, who grow up to be adults with trauma.
I think it’s very important to distinguish actual CSEM (or “fictional works” that were intentionally modeled off real CSEM) from anything that’s purely fictional. Because you can never really know why someone made something or why someone likes something.
I write about child abuse, sexual and not, a lot because I find it very therapeutic, but someone might read my works and may draw other, completely erroneous conclusions about me and my motives.
I honestly think a huge chunk of the kuro fandom is nonbinary, but I don’t really know the demographics. I’m sure they’re slightly different depending on if you’re looking at the western or eastern fandoms…
But women can be toxic just like anyone else. Some of the absolute most vile antis I’ve seen identify as female.
Ultimately, I think that the best thing to do with the fandom (or any fandom, really) is to curate your experience. Block accounts that trigger you or don’t vibe with you. Find like-minded friends to chat with in private, so you don’t have to worry about strangers hopping on what you say. Filter tags and use apps if you need to.
I think it’s a shame that antis are so vocal in the fandom and have divided it so much. As a multishipper not much into sc, I have definitely felt that fracture more than some others, since sadly too many non-sc shippers think they need to scream about how icky that ship is and be jerks when we could just ignore sc entirely and enjoy the other ships we like instead together?
But the no matter what antis claim, sc shippers have always been and will always be the column that holds the fandom up, and you either need to make peace with it or learn to ignore it.
🫶
My ask box is open for anyone who doesn’t feel comfortable being open about their love for kuro but would like to squee over it/the new series with someone who doesn’t mind listening :)

Why not blame targaryen blood for aegon being rapist maegor daemon and many more were rapists and rape apologists 🤔
Hey bestie! The post I reblogged was to compare both Aegon’s parents, and how, realistically, Alicent wouldn’t be the one inducing him to rape servant girls left and right, she’s not a Cersei, she doesn’t excuse all her children’s actions, she does her best to raise them in her (very repressive) set of values and rape ofc doesn’t include that.
However, Viserys is a rapist, most importantly, he raped Aegon’s mother for years, starting when she was 15, and most probably Aegon saw some remnants of that abuse. If anything, it’s Viserys the parent that influenced rape tendencies (his eldest daughter is also a rapist, and she wasn’t raised by Alicent).
So if anyone calls Aegon a rapist, do it pragmatically. It was Viserys who realistically influenced that behavior. It doesn’t excuse the action (which to me isn’t canon as it has no basis on the og material and was merely added for shock value) but certainly calls out what kind of father was (or was not) y’all’s peaceful king.
I don’t blame Targaryen blood for the Targaryens being shit, I blame the Targaryen upbringing and the supremacy they practice. Some Targs who weren’t raised by Targs (Jon Snow) don’t show the shitty mindset most Targs do. The blood of his deadbeat rapist dad is there, but because of his upbringing he grew up to be a hero.

Criticism of Penacony and why i think HYV shouldve quit while they were ahead.
//vent towards the end, references to suicide while those references are quest spoilers Recently I've been doing world quests and grinding out the new region and been repeatedly finding myself walking straight into microagressions and slights to the point where it's been jarring enough for me to put my game down. As a black dude playing HYV games i know well enough not to act like the stupid billion dollar game company cares about appealing to minorities but its 2024 man.
First off, the obvious issue. Penacony has been repeatedly mentioned by the devs themselves to be based off of the Jazz Age from the U.S. a few decades ago.
Tumblr media
youtube
The Jazz age was a period of time in American History between the 1920's and 1930s where the popularity of Jazz just boomed from being like an indie type of music to one of worldwide popularity. Obviously, Black people in that era are wholly responsible for Jazz itself.
Tumblr media
So yeah, Penacony takes its origins from a key black history movement. Penacony, the region that released at the start of February. Black History Month. Star Rail is arguably one of the most popular games right now in terms of outreach because it's free, its new, and its colorful/futurisric etc.... And yet....
Just like with the rest of the HYV games that take real world inspirations, they fucked over black people and their stories.
In Honkai Impact 3rd, basically we had this one black girl who's like sandpaper brown and complains about how much her DARK SKIN ruins her look and how she bleaches her skin using various products to keep it lighter. She is ashamed of her DARK SKINNED mother who's a military woman. Her father is absent. Her mother is also a grown adult who is a B-rank soldier(main character white teenagers are S-rank for reference). Carole Peppers is her name if you want to go further down that rabbit hole.
In Genshin Impact, besides the fact that people with different skin tones are CLEARLY sectioned into certain regions(no seriously there's no real reason why i shouldnt see a black person in any of the existing regions.), and besides the unnecessary amount of whitewashing and besides the perpetuation of the idea of melanin NOT being natural, every single brown/black character in the game has awful playstyles and/or poor matching with weapons/artifacts, inaccessibilty, and they NEVER make it to the top of any meta tierlists. I'm not outright saying they're bad they're just harder and almost never get specialized weapons.
The only previously relevant example in Star Rail was Arlan, a lightning/destruction character. He chews through his own HP and unlike characters like blade/clara, does not have resistance or healing to handle that. Serval, the other lightning 4 star, out-dps's him veryyyyyyy easily. So yeah, the ashy black person character basically dies if you use him for too long and is never relevant TO ANY quests except where he needs to be the sidekick.
sometimes these games have dragons, animals that can understand and process english, or magic.... but then not black people...
Penacony has no black main characters. No black stories of relevance. Yesterday found an NPC whose name was detracted from chocolate and the player had the option to let commit suicide.
Tumblr media
yeah ill get to that 💀. This large mass of at least 4 supernatural looking characters and yet no black person. NOT EVEN ANY OF THE CHARACTERS FROM penacony itself are black.
so yesterday I was grinding clockwork quests and had to help out some apathetic shopkeeper named Cocona. Her story was almost a bit sad but midway into going through her background i realized her name is one letter off of cocoa. now imagine being on a creative team coming up with a name for a melanated NPC and somebody decides on fucking CHOCOLATE with an extra letter. before anybody implies that one was something i shoehorned, think about how itd go if i had a bunch of POC characters and one white girl named crackerella.
Cocona and her once again sad backstory reach a hard tipping point as the player follows her to the edge of a building and can either grab her to stop her from jumping or simply let her end her life jumping off the building.
Yes we've seen how this game lets you make choices and watch the consequences of your actions, but there have been established rule-breaking predecents. Take Ruan Mei's quest where you have no choice but to eat the cake she offers you and once again lose the ability to make a choice on saying anything related to her. or any time the trailblazer gets pushed into a fight and cannot de-escalate. ....with this in mind consider why was saving the cocoa girl from killing herself NOT a forced option.
normally id be the kind of silly person looking for lore bits and stuff and making theories, (like how clockie is from the path of elation :v)but as a black dude this whole region is disgusting. THEY ARE GENTRIFIYING JAZZ AND COVERING UP ITS BLACK ORIGINS idk who said HYV cared about their audiences they fucking dont.
wouldve posted this on reddit but whoop dee do i am NOT getting doxxed today.

Amazing how everyone on Team Green is supposed to just “get over” the absolutely horrendous things Team Black does to them, but Team Black is fully justified in everything they do.
Criston Cole is still upset that Rhaenyra coerced him into sex even after he said no? (Otherwise known as, raping him.) He should just get over it, she’s a strong and powerful woman who is allowed to say no even after she denied him that same choice. Why should she give up the things she values just because she forced him to give up something he valued?
Aemond is angry that Lucerys bullied him, attacked him 4v1, and cut out his eye, leaving Aemond permanently disabled and likely with chronic pain? Who cares! Lucerys was only a child, and he faced… Well, okay, he didn’t face even a hint of a consequence, but still! His mom is Rhaenyra, so he can do what he wants just like she can! And he was totally justified in everything he did to Aemond because… Aemond… spoke a truth that was obvious to anyone with eyes and a lick of common sense, then later claimed a dragon that was now unclaimed?
If they should just get over these horrific and traumatizing events, shouldn’t Team Black be able to get over things too? Lucerys died on a mission he never should have been sent on in the first place? Whatever, Rhaenyra has other children, just grow a better bond with one of them! Aemond had a spare eye, Rhaenyra has spare sons, that’s how it works, right?

Some team black stans on Twitter are being weird as hell in regards to B&C because why are you giggling about a child being killed in front of their mother and siblings? Why are you hoping that it's a family affair, even when you know that would hurt the claim/position of Rhaenyra? Why do you so badly want Rhaena and Baelea to be a part of it? We all know those two girls would never be a part of something so disgusting like, that's all their horrid father's, Daemon, business. Leave them out of that. And don't even get me started on some of them mocking Helaena's death.

Okay, but when I think of that dumb-dumb take on the book version Louis Pointe du Lac and his ownership of Black slaves that was all like, 'You all are dumb and media illiterate because clearly the point is to challenge you to be sympathetic towards awful people!'
And it's like, it's clear who is media illiterate because such a take reveals the lack of ability to understand the concept of *framing.* Rice framed slavery in a very neutral light and made Louis an obvious racist in the way he described his slaves. At no point is this ever challenged. At no point does Louis suffer any social consequences for it even in the present day. I mean, again, it very much illustrates how white audiences are not horrified by the atrocities of slavery, which is probably *why* this person can so easily pat themselves on the back for being able to sympathize with Louis while insulting the intelligence of Black people who prefer Jacob Anderson's Louis.
Like, if you want a better example of a gothic story that challenges the audience to be sympathetic towards horrible people, you need only look at Guillermo del Toro's Crimson Peak. I remember when watching it for the first time, I was able to figure out really fast what the twist was going to be because I am pretty familiar with the kind of thing that goes down in gothic stories. And I think that made the movie an interesting experience for me because I wanted so badly to be wrong. I wanted Thomas to be good. I didn't *want* to have a crush on someone who I was pretty sure was having an incestual relationship with his sister and who was trapping wealthy women into marriage with the intention of murdering them. But the harsh reality of the story is that Thomas and his sister are bad. Thomas loves Edith, sure. Thomas tries to protect her from Lucille, yes. But he is still guilty. Lucille and Thomas are tragic characters. They were isolated from the world and abused by their mother. In different circumstances, they could have grown up to be good people...but they are also not blameless. The framing of their relationship is not good, nor is it neutral. Any reasonable person is as horrified as Edith is at the reveal. This man who she is DEEPLY in love with should not be kissing his SISTER that way. It's very clear the point isn't to walk away with the mindset of "incest isn't that bad actually" just because we're in love with Thomas and *want* him to be good.
The problem with the way Rice handles Louis is that no one, not even Daniel, is horrified that Louis not only owned slaves but did not even view them as *people*. And Daniel was the *perfect* opportunity for that. I mean, for fuck's sake! It was published in 1976. Daniel wasn't at all uncomfortable with this? I mean, perhaps he was enthralled at the idea that he's sitting across from a literal vampire, but that's the thing right there. That right there is the missed opportunity to do what Crimson Peak did so brilliantly. Maybe it's easy to be drawn to a handsome immortal, but his lack of remorse for owning slaves should, at the very least, make him UNCOMFORTABLE with his attraction towards him. And that's the problem with white Rice fans. She didn't challenge your own ideas. She didn't challenge your biases. If anything, she validated them, because CLEARLY none of you are uncomfortable with your attraction to white Louis despite his misdeeds. Despite his blatant racism. Despite his treating his Black slaves as disposable but is conflicted about taking WHITE human lives.
And this is not me saying that any of you have to like Jacob Anderson's version of the character. But the way some of you act so smug about your preference for the book version or even Brad Pitt's version and want to accuse Black people of having a lack of media literacy when you barely have a good hold on FRAMING is laughable. And the way a lot of you are acting like you have a better understanding of the gothic genre than anyone who prefers AMC IWTV is straight-up embarrassing. Read a different author besides Anne Rice, please.
