The Vamp Mimes as seen in 15x20 Carry On

I know the finale is universally hated by the Supernatural fandom, one of the reasons being that the final villains Dean and Sam go up against were weak and cartoonish. But I think these Vamp Mimes are actually perfect villains for Carry On and here's why. I will say that vampires in Supernatural are my least favourite portrayal of them on screen, but I can't deny the fact that they do a really good job at showing the threat vampires pose and how intimidating they actually are, especially in that episode where Dean was turned into a vampire. In this episode, the vampires wear skull masks. Skulls represent death and morality. In some cases, skulls are a reminder of our mortality. They are worn and used as symbols to warn us of death and that we are just mere mortals. This case can be seen with Dean as he has been fighting and grappling with death for quite some time. He has came back to life countless times, may that be torture in hell or as a demon. He and Sam have been breaking the rules countless times and as Billie said, they can't keep coming back to life. She believes that what is dead stays dead. So when Dean faced the Vamp Mimes in the barn, they were a warning of impending death and Dean didn't fight against that warning like he usually does, he accepted it. That makes his death at the hands of the rebar feel more real because he chose to accept that death was always going to be his end. He was ready to go now.

The case that Sam and Dean take on in this episode involves the Vampires kidnapped kids, ripping out the tongues of their families and juicing them so they can become blood bags for the nest. What I find interesting is that the kids the Vamp Mimes capture in this episode are two brothers, who in many ways, parallel Sam and Dean when they were kids. Their father was killed and their mother suffered a fatal injury that will scar her for life. By saving those brothers, Sam and Dean were able to spare them from the lives they had. Their mother died at the hands of a demon and their father became a rogue hunter, left with horrible mental scars. In a way, these roles are switched in this episode with the parents of these brothers and now that they are saved, they won't have that life. This case in particular and these mask wearing vampires were in their father's journal and by solving this case, they are able to get closure and close the book for good. This is particularly evident with the inclusion of Jenny, the vampire from season one as killing her allows them to put that past of hunting with their father to rest.

In my opinion, Dean's death was perfect because it was the way he was always going to go out - out swinging, dying on a hunt and putting his life on the line to save innocent lives. The Vamp Mimes Dean fought were actually a symbolic warning of death and their masks kind of resembled wrestlers, something Dean was obsessed with so he managed to go out fighting. That was always going to be his ending and it paved the way for Sam to carry on and raise a family of his own. He was finally able to put the hunting business behind him because Dean died for that future to be possible. It was foreshadowed during S15 ep9 The Trap in the future Sam saw if they had defeated Chuck way sooner. Vampires were always going to be their undoing and in a way, Chuck's future really did come to pass. Dean was always going to face death.

i've been trying the cursed quirk and dang it's dorf levels of !!FUN!! in that unless you're a fucking god you are going to die and you are going to explode like a pinata of limbs

first time using it i was a mime and the clown decided we were besties after he took vengeance on a vending machine after it fell on me. i sat through clown surgery that left me with an infection that slowly killed me; when i died it was the first time dying with curse and i was not expecting the hilarity of exploding mimes in wheelchairs while mystified and aghast clowns stood by wondering what just happened.

(and then i spent a long time dying slowly in a cryotube... then five+ minutes dead in the cryotube until a sec officer noticed me... and then 40+ minutes in and out of death and dying as a medic tried to juggle me and a bunch of other patients... eventually i gave up because i was bored of not being able to do a n y t h i n g (like at least leave me dead until you're ready to fix me. watching a mostly black screen is boring.) only to learn upon going DNR that a singulo was loose. it eventually ate medbay. good singulo)

tonight i was a curator and within the first five seconds of the round starting the curator vendor fell on me when i went to grab a new suit. 10/10. it didn't kill me. i hobbled my way to medbay and got fixed, helped spread the values of communism, died in maintenance to some souped up cockroaches, watched a mime become a blob, got brought back, ate a pill, and became a borg. i went to go mine in the war effort to get mats to fight the blob but uh the blob won before i could really do much

then i was a perma prisoner. doors kept trying to kill me. there was a cool warden. i found a knife. decided to try getting some ingredients sorted out so i could play chef because i like playing chef but i don't like playing chef, ya dig? got some chickens hatching. lots of eggs. things were going well.

then a vendor fell on me and crit me and i died by the exit after crawling there.

i didn't get brought back because i sniped a butterfly sentience potion. the bad luck followed me. i went to vent crawl and a bomb went off right in front of me, somehow i did not die. i wandered around a bit, ended up near sec, another explosion went off, i was not as lucky.

sniped another sentience potion spawn as a bear. became a medic's trusty steed. he declared me to be bartholomew but i couldn't let that slide because boy, really, beartholomew, c'mon. more bear puns followed after. stuff happened. my food's ready. bye

returning to add if you push chickens they will aggro and follow you even after you die. you can accrue a fowl following. they can't hurt you. they can only follow.
