Cocky Hero to the Rescue
Hero went crashing through the door, a grin splitting their face when they saw their Villain. Although their Villain wasn’t how they usually were.
No.
They were tied to a chair.
A gag in their pretty mouth.
The urgency in Villain’s eyes and the sudden jerking struggle in their restraints was the only warning Hero had before something hit them from the side. Hero saw a flash of white behind their eyes, before another strike sent them to the ground their ears ringing.
Villain crying out the only sound Hero cared about. Hero had barely got their arms under them before a kick to their stomach had them rolling onto their back with a groan.
“I told you villain, didn’t I tell you?” Supervillain’s voice came into focus, as Hero heard the door close and the distinct sound of it locking. “I told you Hero is too arrogant and always forgets check their blind spots.”
“Nice to see you too, Supervillain,” Hero said moving to get up, only for Supervillain to place a boot on Hero’s chest. Not applying any pressure but just showing a clear warning that they could.
Hero grabbed Supervillain’s ankle with their right hand. Just before they could push it off their chest, Supervillain smacked Hero’s hand with their weighted baton. Hero hissed and pulled their hand back protectively, while Supervillain leaned a little weight on Hero’s chest. Just enough for them to feel it.
“Pleasure’s all mine,” Supervillain said with a pleasant smile. “Be a dear and stay down, would you?”
“Normally I would, but Villain and I have a date and you seem to have invited yourself. Now I’m not saying you’re ugly Supervillain, but—” before Hero could finish the sentence Supervillain swung the baton down hard. It hit Hero’s jaw so hard it whipped their head to the side so they were facing Villain, tears springing to their eyes.
Supervillain tsked, moving the baton to Hero’s throat and pressing down. Supervillain kept just enough pressure on it so Hero was forced to yield and stay motionless on the floor. Their hand and jaw still stinging with the smack like a warning.
Supervillain liked control. They liked being in control of every situation. It all had to go Supervillain’s way. They enjoyed having Hero below them docile and Villain tied up and gagged in the room witnessing Supervillain’s exertion of control, of their power.
“You and Villain,” Supervillain repeated. Hero still hadn’t turned to face Supervillain after the baton struck their cheek. Instead they kept their eyes on Villain, their Villain still tied up and gagged on a chair. It was their expression that kept Hero’s gaze though, their furrowed brows and wide panicked eyes and their helpless struggles.
A sudden, merciless strike to the face had Hero’s attention back on Supervillain. Their face burning with the power behind the metal strike as they let out a sharp cry. They moved under Supervillain but the baton was back on their throat and they yielded when Supervillain spoke again.
“Oh, i know all about your little scheming. You must forgive Villain,” Supervillain drawled coldly, their gaze going to their subordinate who shrunk back in their chair. “They do like to get a bit too carried away with their food. A lesson I hope you can help me rectify today.”
Before Hero could ask what Supervillain meant Supervillain’s arm swung back and slammed the baton down on Hero’s windpipe. Hero jerked up, gasping and choking and involuntary response. They had barely wheezed out their first breath before the baton swung down again on Hero’s cheek, then nose with a crunch before a foot slammed down on Hero’s chest.
They thought they were going to die. That Supervillain wouldn’t stop. Something hard slammed into the side of Hero’s ribs. They didn’t think they just rolled trying to get away, but a knee slammed onto their spine and hands were grabbing Hero’s wrists and they were choking on blood and breathlessness that they didn’t even realise what Supervillain was doing.
The familiar clack of power dampening cuffs made Hero’s blood run cold and soon they were struggling against the knee, trying to pull their hands forward and twist away from Supervillain. Hero got their free hand under them and pushed up with all their might trying to somehow shake Supervillain off them but it was useless.
Supervillain just twisted Hero’s cuffed hand up their back more and Hero cried out, trying to buck Supervillain off them. Supervillain was patient and just pushed their arm up further unrelenting. All Hero had managed to do was tire themselves out more than help themselves and they eventually went still.
“Supervillain wait—” Hero pleaded, their voice breaking but it was too late. The final click sealed their fate and Hero felt empty with the familiar buzz of power through their veins.
They were too weak to fight Supervillain off and now they were finished.
Weak.
Vulnerable.
Exactly how Supervillain liked their victims.
“Now, now Hero. Don’t worry, it’s just a precaution,” Supervillain said sickly sweet. Supervillain grabbed the chain of the cuffs on Hero’s wrists back until Hero was slumped into a kneeling position on the floor. They patted Hero on the head before walking around to Hero’s front and grinned at the pair of Hero and Villain, tied up and powerless.
Hero struggled futilely against the cuffs, glaring up at Supervillain. All traces of humour gone from their face.
“I do love it when you just accept your fate, so resolute. So heroic,” Supervillain cooed down at the Hero, but Hero didn’t care. They were too focused on Villain at their side, who was looking back at them.
“Oh Villain! How silly of me I forgot you couldn’t talk,” Supervillain said, voice full of mirth now that they had the pairs full attention on them They were by Villain’s side in two short strides, ripping the tape off their mouth.
“Fuck you,” Villain croaked, voice hoarse and it nearly pained Hero to hear them sound so defeated. How long did Supervillain have them locked up like this? Hero should have known, should have got here sooner.
As if reading Hero’s mind the villain shot them a sad smile, “don’t beat yourself up about it.”
“Yes, Villain. Well said. Hero of all people deserve your respect and sympathy and sorry’s don’t they?”
Before Villain could respond, Supervillain had gripped their cheeks with one hand pressing them in painfully and with so much force the chair Villain was tied to rocked back only held up by Supervillain’s strong hold.
“Not the person who dragged you in off the street, fed you, raised you, taught you everything they know?”
“Let them go!” Hero yelled, one leg under them lunging up only to be slammed down to the floor by invisible hands, their bound hands pressing awkwardly against their back.
“Heroes should be seen and not heard,” Supervillain sneered bringing a finger to their lips at Hero. Hero opened their mouth for another retort when the invisible hands slammed down on their mouth muffling their cries as the hands hold increased to be bruising. Hero whimpered in pain, trying to shift their weight but settled down quiet after a moment. Settling on glaring at Supervillain.
“Leave them alone, Supervillain! They’ve nothing to do with this it’s between me and you!”
“Oh I disagree, Villain. They are the entire cause of your disobedience, here let me prove it to you. Other Villain!” Supervillain called, stepping away from Villain but not taking their eyes off them.
The sound of the door unlocking caught Hero’s attention, and Villain watched with baited breath as their nemesis walked into the room, grinning ear from ear.
“Hi Villain,” Other Villain with their usual smirk on their face and stupid condescending tone. Just seeing Other Villain made Villain’s blood boil.
“What, you want me to be like them?” Villain demanded, unable to stop the hurt colouring their voice. “I thought you said diversity is what gives us strength.”
“It does,” Supervillain mused, “but your heart seems to be too lenient with this stupid hero. It’s time you learned getting over them. Other Villain.”
“With pleasure,” Other Villain preened and stalked over to hero.
Villain sat forward in their seat instinctively as Other Villain grabbed Hero by the hair and yanked them up, the invisible arms keeping Hero subdued disappearing.
“Ah, Other Villain. You look radiant as—” before Hero could get another word out Other Villain slammed their chin against their knee. Villain tensed in their chair, but didn’t react as best they could. It’s fine. They were fine.
“I felt that one,” Hero said shortly after giving Villain something to be glad about. Hero’s inability to just shut up. “Do it again.”
Other Villain grinned. “With pleasure,” before they took their fist and beat it down on Hero’s face repeatedly. After the fourth or fifth punch Other Villain made a show of picking a slumped Hero off the ground just to punch them down again.
When the bruise started shining on Hero’s cheekbone and they smiled with a split lip, Villain leaned forward and said, “Hero enough.”
Hero didn’t even look at them. They kept their eyes on Other Villain. “Do you worst. It’s only a fair fight cause I got these cuffs on,” and hero spat blood on other villains shoes to add insult to injury.
“I can’t kill ‘em?” Other Villain asked.
Supervillain kept their eyes on Villain. “No killing. Everything up to killing is allowed.”
“In that case, I got a lil gift for you hero. Something to remember me by.”
“A gift?” Hero cooed, “you shouldn’t have. I didn’t even get you anything.”
“Oh trust me, this will do just fine.”
Other Villain pulled a pocket knife from their belt and villain straightened. They knew how much Other Villain sharpened those blades. Within an edge of deadly at the slightest brush.
“Wait, okay. Supervillain you proved your point okay? I got it. I won’t talk to hero anymore I promise okay?”
Villain could feel Hero’s eyes on them, but they were staring into Supervillain’s trying to use any of the humanity they had left.
“You learned your lesson?” Supervillain asked, holding a hand up to stop Other Villain.
“Yes. I did. I swear, okay? I won’t talk to hero again. I’ll cut off all contact, I promise.”
Supervillain stared hard at them for a moment. A long moment of silence stretched between them before the Supervillain dropped their hand with a sigh.
“You need to learn why, Villain. Right now you’re pleading for no lasting damage to be done for your hero because you care about them. But I know one thing that will keep you away from the likes of them,” Supervillain said softly. So softly Villain was nearly stunned by the gentleness their voice took on.
Supervillain placed a large hand on Villain’s cheek as they leaned down to be eye level with them, like how they used to talk to them when they were a child and needed to learn the hard way.
“And that’s through guilt.”
“Wait, no Other Villain— WAIT!”
Hero even looked abashed by the introduction of the blade and when Other Villain made the first cut through hero’s left eyebrow hero screamed. Other Villain heightening the pain with every brush of the blade along Hero’s face.
Villain was struggling so hard against the metal keeping him to the chair because he couldn’t just sit and watch helpless as Other Villain mutilated Hero in front of them. Eventually the chair stopped moving even as they struggled frantically and Villain only had to look at Supervillain’s hands to see the reason.
Hero tried to flash Villain a debonair smile, but Other Villain’s body blocked their small comfort to Villain.
“Supervillain please, you made your point. Let them go,” Villain cried as Hero passed out from the pain. Their limp body didn’t hit the floor however as supervillain held hero up by his invisible little puppet strings and other villain stood back to admire their sadistic work.
“It’s missing something,” they remarked. A cruel smile lit up their face and they said: “a signature.”
“No! Wait! Other Villain WAIT! Please!” Villain screamed, struggles renewed but all they could do was watch.
Other Villain lifted Hero’s hand and on the back of it they carved their initials deep and thick.
Villains voice was raw by the time Supervillain let Hero slump to the ground. Other Villain turned around, and with a nod from Supervillain cut the ropes holding Villain to the chair.
Villain got to their feet immediately and went to help Hero but Supervillain stepped into their path.
Towering.
Dark.
Unforgiving.
“If I hear you talk to or help Hero in anyway again Villain, I won’t keep Other Villain at bay.” Villain glared up at Supervillain, nostrils flaring in anger, and tried to sidestep them but Supervillain matched their stride. “Unless you want a dead Hero on your conscience, Villain, that order starts now.”
Supervillain nodded at Other Villain who grabbed Villain by the upper arm and dragged them to the door. Villain shrugged them off before they walked out the door, looking over their shoulder at the bloody slumped figure of Hero.
I’m sorry Hero, they thought, guilt cracking through their bones like lightning.

listen to my Voice, hero
TW: mind control, hypnotic induction, intimate whumper, restraints, corruption
Are your bonds comfortable, Hero? I wouldn't want to cause any damage to your precious muscles and nerves. You are the city's shining hope, after all. Or at least, you have been until now.
Good, now we can have a proper chat. You can just listen carefully to everything I have to say.
Oh, don't glare at me like that. How many times have we clashed now? And every time you manage to resist my lovely compelling Voice just enough to stop my plans, just enough so that I must escape by the skin of my teeth. You must have known it might come to this eventually, a time when my compulsions are too strong for you to fight, a time when my Voice finally brings you to your knees.
I've been training, dear hero, training especially for you. Training for you, because you're really the only one in this city worth controlling. You're better than all of them. We both know that. And I know how you feel about me, because I've seen the look in your eyes when my compulsions take hold of your pretty little mind.
No, no, be quiet. Be quiet. That's it, there you are. Oh, the delicious expression on your face when I use my Voice on you. I'll never get enough of it.
Most heroes look terrified, you know, to have their thoughts pulled out from under them, to find their body out of their control. Terrified, angry, defiant -- that's how the other heroes look. But you're different. In that moment when I weave my spell on you, when you feel your mind go hazy and your body stop obeying your commands, I see something else in your eyes. I see relief. Deep, unmistakable relief.
No, don't try to deny it. I've tangled with you too many times to be wrong about this. You're relieved when I compel you. You'd never admit it, not even to yourself, but you long for the way it feels. You long to have your choices taken away. You long to not have to make decisions. You long to not have to fight any more.
But every time, you fight. Every time, you break free of my Voice. And I can see the toll it takes on you. That's why I've been training so hard, Hero. So that you couldn't resist my Voice, wouldn't be able to break free. So that I could give you what you want more than anything.
I've seen you, Hero. I've seen you at your best and at your lowest, haven't I? I understand you better than anyone else in the city. You know it's true. And I can see how exhausted you are. How you've been worked to the bone. How you never get to rest, never get a vacation. I even tried cutting back on my evil schemes in the hopes that you'd take a break, but all you did was pursue other villains twice as hard.
There are deep bags under your eyes, Hero, marring your beautiful face. There's resignation in your tone that was never there before. I can't stand it, can't stand the way the city treats you. You're destroying yourself to save this ungrateful, useless population and all they do is criticize you. It makes me sick.
And I know what you do once you've defeated me and I escape back to my lair. I know you return to your cold, empty apartment, and curl up on the couch with some convenience food, trying to relax. I know how you toss and turn at night, wondering if you're doing the right thing. I know how lonely you are, Hero. I'm lonely too, you know.
I wish you could see how glassy and dazed your eyes are right now. It's beautiful. Listening to my Voice is so nice, isn't it? Yes, that's it, just relax.
Oh, your hair is so soft. I bet you haven't had a tender touch like this in a while. I saw you lean into it before you caught yourself. Let me run my hand through your hair, there's a good, relaxed hero. Is that a sleepy little smile I see? You like that, don't you?
In fact, you like all of this, don't you? You like having no choice but to relax and listen as my compelling Voice weaves a spell around you. You like the feeling as I slowly hypnotize your vulnerable mind, how your resistance slips away little by little. You've thought about this on those lonely nights, haven't you? What it would feel like if I won. What it would feel like to succumb to my hypnotic compulsions. What it would feel like if you stopped fighting and let me take charge of your mind completely.
Oh, don't struggle. Don't struggle. Relax. There it is again, that relief. My Voice feels good, doesn't it? It feels so good to have the fight taken out of you. Don't deny it, it's written all over your face.
You don't need to pretend you haven't thought about it. You somehow manage to always be the first hero on the scene whenever I try anything. Almost as if you're willing to drop anything to see me, isn't it?
But you were scared. I'm a villain, after all. I don't deny it. You must think I might hurt or humiliate you. Well, you can put all of your fears to rest, because I have no intention of that. I respect you far too much. I'm going to take good care of you, Hero. I'm going to give you the treatment you deserve. I'm going to help you relax. I'm going to take all your worries away.  It's going to feel amazing, Hero, I promise.
I'm sorry, were you trying to say something just now? Still trying to fight it? You'll have to speak up, it's too hard to hear you when you're so out of it.
"It's wrong"? Is that what you said, Hero?
No, what's wrong is how little reward you get for everything you do. That's why I had to do this, had to train my Voice to be strong enough to be irresistible even to you. Now I can reward you. I can give you everything you want, everything you need, beginning with the beautiful, relaxing oblivion of total and complete obedience.
You'll get other rewards, too, of course you will. Together we'll share in the riches of the city, bend everyone in power to our wills. It's what we both deserve. But this is your first and most important reward -- obedience. Nothing is more calm, relaxing, and peaceful than knowing you have no choice, than having every decision made for you.
And all you have to do is listen.
I'm too strong for you now, Hero, my Voice too compelling. You're almost entirely under my spell, aren't you? I can see how drowsy you are, how my compulsions are putting your conscious mind to sleep.
Yes, that's it. You're too exhausted, Hero. Too tired. Too many nights with too little sleep. You need to rest. You need to stop fighting. You need to surrender.
No one will think any less of you. They'll see how powerful I've become, how easily I can command even the strongest and smartest. They'll realize you had no choice, that it was out of your hands. You won't need to feel guilt or shame. Everyone will know this wasn't your fault, that there was nothing you could do to prevent yourself falling under my villainous control.
And the fact that you actually enjoy this, the fact that you long to give in so badly and fall under my hypnotic trance? That can be our little secret, Hero.
There we go. That's it, just a little more. Look into my eyes. Look nice and deep into my eyes while I stroke your hair and talk you down softly. Just like you've always dreamed of. No more fear, no more pain. Only sweet restful sleep and deep hypnotic trance.
That's it, Hero. It's too late. You're too tired, too drowsy, too captured in my Voice to fight it. There's nothing to do. Nothing you have to do. Just feel yourself growing oh so dazed and sleepy as I weave my Voice around you. So comforting. So right. Exactly what you wanted. Exactly what you needed. Exactly where you belong.
Tell me, Hero, tell me you want this.
That's it, that's it! Oh, how I've longed to hear those words from you. Tell me how my Voice makes you feel. Be honest.
Oh. Oh, my. That's... that's even better than I expected. Far, far better. You love my Voice that much? Oh, Hero, dear Hero, why didn't you say so before? You could have had this any time. I would have been more than happy to bring you to my lair and give you the hypnosis you deserve. You could have been listening to my Voice all day.
Well, it doesn't matter now, because now you can have my Voice all you want, stronger than it's ever been. Isn't that nice? Oh, look at you bob your drowsy head. I don't even need to compel agreement out of you. You're so deeply hypnotized, aren't you? Good, good. Good hero.
My hero.
Now, why don't you go all the way under? Just keep listening and let your eyelids grow oh so heavy. Let those heavy eyes close. Don't open them again. That's a good hero. So obedient and docile. You're so, so beautiful to me, my drowsy, docile hero.
Yes, docile. That's what you are, deep down inside. All your strength, all your determination to do the right thing, all of that is a mask that conceals who you really are. A docile and obedient little lamb. And no one needs to know that but me. I'll fulfill your deep craving to be hypnotized and controlled, and you can still be every bit as strong and determined when you're working under my orders. Doesn't that sound just perfect for you?
All the way under, now, deep into hypnotic trance. Let your resistance fade, my hero. Let your mind fog. Let your mental defenses fall.
Surrender. Surrender and submit. Submit to me, just like you've always wanted.
You can finally feel that relief. You can finally take that rest. Because I have you now. You're mine. I'm in complete control now, my docile little hero.
And I order you to feel nothing but bliss.

Hey there! Do you mind writing a snippet about a captured hero in a I-have-you-now-my-pretty situation by a dominating seductive villain? And can you make it very dark please? Thank you so much and I absolutely love your writing!
"There now, isn't this much better?" the villain murmured, stroking their fingers through the hero's damp hair. "You're so pretty beneath all the grime and the blood."
"I prefer the grime and the blood."
"I might also prefer you nice and quiet. Consider that."
"Oh," the hero's eyes darkened, "no doubt. What's more attractive than your prey being forced docile, unable to fight back?"
The villain raised a brow, in the reflection of the mirror. "You. Trying to fight me. Failing."
The hero felt bile claw up their throat at that. They resisted the urge to swallow, to tense; it wouldn't do them any good, and it would probably only serve to delight the creep.
The villain seemed to catch it anyway, because they smiled.
"I do like your spirit," the villain mused. They continued to stroke through the hero's hair, carefully and diligently untangling every knots and snarl. "You're beautiful when you're angry. Defiant. You get this fiery, helpless look in your eyes. The blush is also very becoming. So, you see...it wouldn't be half as fun if you didn't try to fight back."
The hero studied them, trying to decide if that was reverse psychology. They might have preferred it if it was reverse psychology.
The villain laughed, softly, at whatever expression they saw on the hero's face.
The hero jerked their head away. It felt good for all of three seconds before the villain reeled them back in with a much harder yank, making the hero's breath catch. They pulled the hero's head back against the chair, baring their throat.
Perhaps as punishment for moving, or perhaps simply because they could, the villain leaned down over their shoulder to press a kiss to the hero's throat. It looked positively vampiric in the glass. The hero half expected teeth. They hated that they shivered. They hated that they couldn't look away, in the spirit of car crashes, natural disasters and other terrible fascinating things.
The villain's smile edged a fraction sharper, a fraction smugger. They held the hero's eyes as they trailed more kisses along the hero's neck, across their racing pulse, until the hero was taut.
"Go on," the villain whispered. "Tell me not to touch you again. Dealer's choice on if you try a threat, command or plea."
"I think I might prefer me nice and quiet."
"Mm." The villain straightened. They turned their attention to the hero's appearance again, considering. "I knew you liked me too."
"That's not - I don't -"
The villain's smile turned positively wolfish.
The hero snarled; too frustrated for words, too...well. Too many things. Frustrated was the best pick. Better than fear, sinking and entirely too helpless.
The annoying thing was that it did feel better to be clean, with their wounds tended. It simply didn't feel better to have had the villain force them into a bath and out of their own clothes. It was like having their identity, their resistance, scrubbed away alongside the dirt. Dressed in the villain's clothes, with the villain's scent clinging to their skin, it was impossible to forget where they were for even a moment.
It was impossible to forget who the villain thought they belonged to.
There were times when the villain could be charming, seductive. When they first met the hero had even been flattered. The problem was that, after the seduction and shiny polish of it all had worn off, it was perfectly obvious that the villain didn't actually care if the hero was seduced or not. It was a preference - not a requirement. The villain would do as they pleased regardless.
Hopefully, the hero's friends would get there soon.
(They had to get there soon, right?)
"So pretty," the villain murmured once more. "And all mine. Let's go show you off, shall we?"
"I'm not yours." The hero had to say it. Even when they knew it was a trap, even when their voice came out hoarse, they had to say.
The villain laughed again, and swivelled the chair around so that they were facing each other. They smoothed their hands down the hero's trembling thighs. Then, their expression turned cold, as absolute as an old black-and-white fairytale, as unstoppable a death. They leaned in.
"Oh, darling. By the time I'm done with you tonight, you will be."

The villain scrambled back, bloodied and bluffing through their fear with a shaky false grin.
“If you kill me, you’re just as bad as I am.”
The hero’s face was calm, eyes alight with cruel amusement as they continued to approach. They had no intention of killing the villain. They had no intention of showing mercy, either.
“I won’t kill you. Not because I’m better than you - no,” the hero crouched before their cowering nemesis, “I am so much worse.”

Hostage situation
“I’ve been thinking about what you said the other day,” Hero murmured, clacking the silver spoon at the edge of the table, their eyes fixed still on the full plate before them.
“Eat, Hero.”
Their eyebrows furrowed in response, face twisting into a scowl. Hero lifted their head, looking to meet the others' eyes, thinking that, perhaps, they were just as unsure to face truthfully the other as they were.
Villain was not. Brown eyes which shined yellow under the warm light of the room faced them, straight and unwavering.
Hero averted theirs once again.
“You don’t care for what I have to say?”
“Not particularly,” Villain answered, “but if it means a lot to you, go right ahead.”
Hero swallowed
“I’ll take your deal,” they answered, quickly, as fast as they could to disguise the trembling of their voice. “I’ll support your case, I’ll make sure it gets to Superhero, to the President and the Ministry of Security, I’ll get Sidekick back to you.”
Swirling their wine on the cup, white to make good pair with the salmon, Villain nodded, solemnly and slowly, almost doubtfully, and yet the mere hint of a positive answer made Hero’s heart pound inside their chest. Not yet relief but the dread that came right before it.
“Oh Hero,” Villain answered, the tone of pity melting with their words “but you’ve already done that, my sidekick’s being transported to me right now. A hostage exchange if you may.”
The chain on their ankle rattled as they threw themselves back on the chair, blood pumping inside their ears.
“Are you letting me go? Am I going back with Superhero?!”
A moment of silence was followed by a deep, hoarse laugh, rumbling across the room and shaking if ever so slightly the silverware and glasses.
“Of course not sweet, sweet, dumb thing,” they answered “you’re staying right here with me, with us.”
Hero’s heart felt like falling from a thousand floors. And a deep, unescapable sentiment of despair felt like a cold sweat inducing fever dream.
“No!” Hero wailed,  “No, no, no. You said that if, that when you, when Sidekick came back to you you would let me go, you promised! I told you I would take the deal.”
“You were too late, pet, you took too long, I want to keep you now.”

Prompt #3477
"You can't keep me as a pet," the villain spat.
Their captor raised an eyebrow. "You're smart enough to know that I absolutely can. Whenever I like, for as long as I like."
"Someone will realise. Someone will come for me."
They sighed. "You're smart enough to know that's not true, either."

The Heretic (4)
It has a name! Previously june of doom day 9~
Read part one here
Continued from here
*~*~*~*~*
Shaw woke with a groan, his head too heavy for his neck to support it. He wanted to open his eyes, but as soon as he did his eyelids shut and Shaw groaned again. The dim lighting igniting a fire of a headache in his brain. He just wanted to sleep again. The fight with Olen had taken a lot out of him and his mind was miles away.
Wait…
His fight with Olen.
Shaw’s eyes snapped open again as he jerked forward in the chair. The clack of chains pulling taut. Shaw didn’t get very far and he cursed… or he would have if not for the fucking gag between his teeth, locking his tongue to the bottom of his mouth.
Shaw’s eyes went wide, glancing down his nose trying to see what it was but even he couldn’t see past his own nose.
Fuck. He needed to get out of here… wherever here was, probably Olen’s villain lair or something stupid like that. Shaw pulled his hands forward again. Both his wrists were locked in different sets of handcuffs keeping his hands apart. Olen probably didn’t know that Shaw couldn’t activate his runes without his voice which… well, fucking sucked because the bastard had covered all his bases with Shaw.
But if Shaw was here… then… Shaw’s heart sank into his stomach. Hero. Nobody was protecting Hero! Superhero could do whatever he wanted, Olen could have already caused a scene and killed them while Shaw was unconscious.
Shaw didn’t care. He started making as much noise as he could, screaming Olen’s name or something that vaguely resembled Olen’s name into his gag. After a solid minute of causing a fuss, Shaw was panting for breath. The gag not helping his breathing situation, as he sucked in air through his nose with a painful grunt. His ribs hurt.
Everything hurt.
God, Olen really didn’t pull his punches.
“Tch.”
Shaw looked up to see Olen standing at the top of the concrete staircase — directly in front of Shaw’s chair —silhouetted inside the doorframe, cigarette in hand. Olen turned his head to face the hall and said: “hey. The brat’s awake.” Before he descended the steps towards Shaw.
“Olen! You bastard let me go,” Shaw said, or tried to say, the gag muffling his words beyond recognition.
Olen waved his hand, batting Shaw’s mumbling away. “I can’t understand you with that thing in your mouth. Save your breath.”
Shaw had so many things he wanted to say. He wanted to ask. He had to know.
Where’s Hero?
Are they safe?
Did you hurt them yet?
Are they… are they still alive?
All questions died on Shaw’s tongue when he saw the second silhouetted figure in the door frame at the top of the stairs.
Superhero.
Shaw’s eyes shot to Olen in accusation, not pleading, more like hurt and betrayed than anything else. Shaw pulled forward in his restraints, cursing under his gag as Superhero came closer towards him. Shaw couldn’t just sit calm and take it, not with Superhero here— he had to do something. Even if it was only struggling futilely against his restraints.
Superhero stared dispassionately down at Shaw, stopping in front of him. Shaw swallowed, glaring back.
“God, you haven’t changed a bit, have you?” Superhero said reaching down. Shaw jerked his head back out of reach but Superhero caught his jaw all the same, squeezing the pulse points on Shaw’s throat as he tilted his head up. “You’re still useless at fighting.”
As if to prove his point Superhero pressed his finger into Shaw’s cheek until Shaw cried out, cursing Superhero behind the gag.
Superhero’s face didn’t change from the disgusted look he wore when he first saw Shaw, unemotional and inhuman. Superhero let go of Shaw’s jaw and stepped back, sliding his hands into the pockets of his jeans.
“As much as I love not hearing him talk, we need information from him,” said Superhero casually.
“Are you sure about that?” Olen asked, exhaling smoke into the air.
Superhero’s shark like stare was as dispassionate as ever when he ordered: “remove the gag, Olen.”
Olen obeyed quietly. It felt wrong. Back in their academy days you followed an order from Superhero with yes, sir. Olen moving without the mark of respect was strange. Almost eerie.
Maybe Olen had changed as much as Shaw did.
The moment Olen removed the gag Shaw spit at Superhero. He only had a fraction of a second to enjoy it before his head was whipped to the side, his cheek stinging. Shaw hissed, bringing his head back to face Superhero. He met Superhero’s gaze with hatred fuelled eyes and then his head snapped to the side again, this time Shaw biting back a groan.
His jaw hurt enough from the gag, he didn’t need Superhero’s knuckles aggravating it more.
“You fucking piece of shit,” Shaw said, his voice coming out too high, raspy and croaking. He faced Superhero again, glare a little less fiery, a little more cautious.
“Nice to see you too, Shaw.”
Shaw met Superhero’s eyes, raising an eyebrow at the civility. Superhero inclined his head. “In bruises. Nice to see you covered in bruises.”
Shaw huffed a breath out his nose, then started muttering a spell under his breath. He barely got three words out before Superhero’s hand was on his throat, slamming his head back against the chair. Shaw gasped but no air could enter his lungs with Superhero crushing his windpipe.
His lethal eyes burned with a cold fury down at Shaw. When Superhero spoke his voice was low, dangerous, sending ice down Shaw’s spine. “Try and use your dirty spells again, Shaw, and I’ll knock you out cold. Just so I can wake you and make you watch as I murder Hero in front of you, are we clear?”
Superhero let Shaw’s neck go enough so he could answer. “Yes—” Shaw choked out with a slight wheeze.
Superhero’s eyebrow raised a fraction. It was the only warning Shaw had before Superhero’s hand was on his throat again, face far too close to Shaw’s, eyes far too terrifying and it felt like Shaw was a teenager again under Superhero’s command.
“Come on Shaw,” Superhero chided lightly, his voice like the edge of a dagger. “I know I taught you your manners, or have you forgotten and need a reminder hmm? Tell you what, because I’m generous, I’ll give you one last chance.”
This time, Superhero only removed his hand slightly from Shaw’s throat, leaving his hand there lingering like a promise.
Shaw sucked in a breath, unable to look down or away from Superhero. Shame curled up in his chest like a cat trying to soak up heat— Shaw told himself he’d never bow to Superhero again and yet…
“Yes… sir,” Shaw whispered.
Superhero’s smile was anything but kind. “Sorry, I didn’t quite catch that. Olen, did you catch that?”
Shaw didn’t know what Olen did behind him, but he knows he didn’t reply. Maybe a shrug or a gesture or something, but to Shaw it felt like insignificant.
“Me either. Louder, so we can all hear.”
“Yes sir,” Shaw croaked, forcing his voice to be louder, even as his vocal chords screamed at him for pushing them too much after being choked.
Superhero’s lips twitched as he lightly slapped Shaw’s cheek. “Good boy. Look at you, you haven’t forgotten your manners at all. You just needed a little encouragement.”
“What the fuck do you want?” Shaw asked, not caring that his voice was weak as he spoke. Superhero straightened again, allowing Shaw a little extra breathing room that he was grateful for. At least putting some distance between him and the devil himself.
Olen walked around the chair into Shaw’s view, leaning against the wall beside the stairs. His cigarette was gone and he just crossed his arms over his chest, eyes fixed on Shaw. Shaw could see the tension in his shoulders from here, which means Superhero must’ve been pissed when Olen told him he couldn’t kill Hero.
Shaw almost smiled at the thought of pissing Superhero off.
Almost.
“Since when are you a Heretic, Shaw?” Superhero asked, drawing Shaw’s attention back to him. The question kind of stunned him. Superhero tilted his head to the side.
As in… he wanted an answer.
Shaw swallowed before he spoke, licking his dry lips that were chapped from the gag. “I was born a heretic.”
The answer got him a swift slap across the face. Shaw grit his teeth but thankfully it wasn’t hard enough to turn his head, so small victories.
Superhero’s smile was wan. “When did you pick up your practice again? Did Hero know?”
Shaw tried not to give it away. He tried not to react. He didn’t succeed, because the mere mention of Hero’s name and possible threat and danger caused to them by Shaw well… his cuffs clacking against the chair said everything Shaw didn’t want to.
Superhero let out a scoff. “Of course they did. No matter, I’ll make sure they learn the error of their ways.”
“Don’t fucking touch them!” Shaw all but growled. Superhero’s humourless smile stretched into a teasing grin.
“Or what? What will you do, Shaw? Threatening me from your position… I don’t know if it’s brave or stupid.”
“Why do you even want to kill Hero?” Shaw demanded hotly. “They’ve only ever followed your orders. Done as you asked!”
Superhero rolled his eyes. “Is this the part where I reveal all my evil plans to you, Shaw? Do you really think I’m that stupid?”
Shaw’s eyes went from Superhero to Olen’s, then back again, squinting a little. “Do you really want me to answer that?”
“I don’t think it would say a lot coming from you. If we want to talk about stupidity, at least I’m not handcuffed to a chair,” Superhero replied smoothly.
Shaw grit his teeth, pulling slightly on the handcuffs, more to do something than actually trying to escape.
“When did you find your faith again, Shaw?” Superhero asked. Shaw looked down, away from Superhero’s harsh gaze. He could feel the hatred in the room emanating from his captors. Heresy wasn’t something that would win you popularity among normal people.
“Recently enough.”
“How recent?”
Shaw click his tongue against his teeth, shrugging. “I don’t know. The last couple of months?”
“What is the church planning?”
Shaw stared at Superhero, brows knitting together. “I’m not back in the church.”
Superhero blinked, expression unreadable. Shaw looked from Superhero to Olen, eyes a bit desperate. Though, with the look on Olen’s face, Shaw knew he was searching for a friendly face in vain. His glare returned to his eyes as he turned back to Superhero.
“I’m not with the church, Superhero. I told you about what they do, what they did to me. I would never—”
Superhero didn’t say anything. Just stared down impassively. Shaw scoffed, reclining back into his seat with a shrug. “Faith and religion are two different things, Superhero.”
“Fine. Then who helped you find your faith again?”
“What does it matter!” Shaw yelled. Superhero punched him again, his knuckles cracking against Shaw’s cheek and Shaw cursed as pain flamed hot across his face. He didn’t turn his head to face Superhero again. Instead, stupidly, naively, his eyes met Olen’s in a desperate plea.
“It matters because I say so. You had so much potential, now look at you. Wasting it. Squandering all of our hard work with your filthy, blood drunk love of ambivalent gods. Pathetic.”
“Honestly? Their magic is pretty handy. So is their blood, but I guess Olen could tell you all about that. After all, it did stop you in your plan to kill Hero,” said Shaw with a shit eating grin as he turned back to face Superhero. “At least I have something while you godless, carnal fucks just languish here useless.”
Superhero blinked, entirely unimpressed. “You forget your beloved Hero is one of those carnal fucks.”
“No, Hero’s different. They’re good. You know, like what heroes are meant to be.”
“The strong survive, Shaw.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Shaw snapped. Superhero let out a sigh, as he started walking in a slow circle around Shaw’s chair.
“There’s a reason that Hero’s goodness is the exception and not the rule, but you already knew that didn’t you? It’s why you waited there in the alleyway. How can a hero who needs protection survive in a world like this?”
“Hero doesn’t need protection—”
“You seem to think they do. Their naivety of how good the world is and how good people inherently are, well…” Superhero said with a smug smile as he came to stand in front of Shaw again. “Let’s just say, it will kill them before I get the chance to.”
Superhero’s words hung in the air thick and dense. He didn’t elaborate further, and after a minute or so the words took on a life of their own and started crawling under Shaw’s skin.
“As long as I’m alive I won’t let anything happen to them,” Shaw told Superhero. He twisted his wrists in the cuffs, hoping that he could rub his wrist hard enough to draw blood from the metal.
Superhero stared at him for a long, drawn out moment. Then he turned his back on Shaw to face Olen. “He’s not going to tell us anything right now. Gag him and we’ll try again in a few days.”
“Wait!” Shaw cried. Shit shit shit. If they gag him he won’t be able to get out of here but then— he doesn’t even know what they want from him?! He pulled at the cuffs harshly, praying that he’d bleed. Come on! He has to stall them longer. “What? You want to know how I got my faith back? I’m telling the truth, it doesn’t just go away.”
Superhero glanced at Shaw over his shoulder. “It doesn’t just come back either, Shaw. Who encouraged you to practice heresy again?”
Shaw set his jaw, his eyes burning as he stared into Superhero’s dispassionate eyes. “You’re protecting someone,” Superhero told him, his voice light and airy. “Friend, family, preacher? Doesn’t matter. You’re not going to give them up today.”
“Why does the heresy even bother you? You’re Superhero the city loves you!”
“As long as the black church still operates from the shadows and has their secret heretics practicing their magic, they will always be a threat Shaw. You know this. Isn’t that why we worked so hard to beat it out of you in the first place?”
“No you tortured me! There was no hard work on your part,” Shaw hissed.
Superhero’s eyes glinted cruelly. “I mean, you didn’t restrain yourself. There was some work on my part. Or did the whippings leave such a fleeting memory? We can start them again if you need a refresher.”
Shaw glared up at Superhero, lips curling back in hatred. “My people are peaceful, Superhero. Most of us are peaceful. Of course there’s some bad people but you can’t kill us all for a few bad people!”
“Who’s going to stop me, Shaw? You?”
“You can’t just go on a witch hunt and eradicate us all! That’s— that’s,” Shaw’s breath hitched as he felt blood slide down his wrist onto his thumb. Yes! Fuck. “That’s madness, Superhero.”
Superhero shrugged. “I guess I’m a little mad then.” That was the end of the conversation. Superhero turned and nodded at Olen before walking to the staircase. Olen had just pushed off the wall when Shaw clicked his fingers and quickly muttered the spell under his breath.
Superhero turned back, rage and murder in his eyes as Olen lunged for Shaw. Shaw grinned at them both, his skin glowing the strange silver and then he was gone.
He collapsed back into his bedroom in his apartment, stumbling back against the bed before lying down on top of it. He felt nausea climb up his throat but he wrestled it down with a groan. He pulled his hands in front of him, staring at his bloodied wrist. His hands were shaking, his body exhausted, his mind spent. He should really have a shower and clean himself up, but instead he kicked off his shoes and curled into a ball on his bed.
Hero’s alive.
He can rest.

Human/Mer AU + Bioluminescent Siren Duke ; requested by @justwannabecat!
The human hadn’t been in his territory recently.
He wasn’t attached or anything, but Duke had started to look forward to seeing him around. It was equal parts exciting and terrifying to be under the curious, watchful eyes of a human who could so easily be dragged down into the depths.
He knows he shouldn’t be doing this. He shouldn’t be indulging this human’s curiosity, trying to lure him closer time after time. Holding the attention of any human is dangerous; Duke’s heard the stories plenty of time. He’s seen the damage humans can do even more.
There’s just something different about this human, who never dives too deep, who smiles at him and leaves little gifts in the tide pools tucked away from the rest of the beach, hidden from sight. Or rather, usually hidden from sight, since this human is the only one to go there.
It’s foolish, but Duke actually misses his human.
It’s not the first time he’d been gone for long stretches of time, but something feels off. There’s worry curling up at the base of his throat, making him swim to the surface more frequently. Steph had given him a look when she caught him, but didn’t say a word. She shouldn’t, really, when she’s been sneaking up to the surface for her own human friend, some small, dangerous human with dark hair and hands that speak more than a voice.
He’d seen her, just once, when he had gone up to splash water and his human then swim away.
Somehow, things felt easier back then. Like the horrors of the world couldn’t reach them among those tide pools.
It’s reached them now.
Duke’s not expecting to see his human when he swims up to the surface. He’s expecting another quiet night, an empty beach, a dark sky with only the moon casting its lonely light down onto him.
But when he swims up, his eyes go to a figure on the beach instantly.
Even from this distance, Duke knows: that’s his human.
He doesn’t think before he’s swimming over, pushing himself faster than he’s ever gone before. It’s low tide, so he can’t get as close as he wants and can’t reach most of the tide pools at all, but it gets him close enough. Human and merfolk vocal chords are different; he can speak in water, but can’t make more than a few hums in air, and humans can’t really do anything in water at all.
His human is sitting with his knees tucked into his chest on the beach. He’s hiding in his clothes, a hood pulled over his head, but he looks up when Duke drags himself onto the sand.
Duke can see bruises. Dried blood. A stray tear slipping out of his eyes.
He wants to ask what’s happened? But all that comes out is a low crooning noise.
His human laughs, a quiet, bitter noise that makes Duke’s chest tighten uncomfortably. “Hey,” he rasps in a low voice. “Been a while, hasn’t it? I hope you’ve had a better time than I did.”
Duke can’t reach his human. The distance between them isn’t great, but it’s too much. He’s already partially out of the water, hands sinking into the wet sand just out of reach of the waves, and he can’t get any farther out. He reaches a hand out, silently pleading for his human to come closer.
The move makes his human soften, some of the hard edge of tension in his body melt away. He gets up and walks into the water, then sits down next to Duke, taking his hand.
“I missed you,” he whispers.
If they were underwater, Duke would be able to say I missed you too. Don’t ever go away so long again. But his human is in no shape to go underwater right now, so Duke presses his hand against his lips and hums lightly.
They sit in silence for a moment, and Duke realizes that he’s never been this close to any human before. It doesn’t feel dangerous. It feels like relief, to finally have his human in his reach, safe from the rest of the world.
He gives him human another moment, then reaches out and carefully pushes his hood back. His human allows it, blinking at him slowly. Without the shadow of the hood, Duke can clearly see the bruise coloring his cheekbone and the cuts going down his temple to his jaw. His split lip is still red with blood, and what little of his throat isn’t hidden by his clothes reveals more bruises wrapped around the delicate column of his neck.
Duke ghosts his fingers over each of these injuries, hating how easily humans hurt each other. His human leans into the touch despite how it must hurt, something devastating in his expression.
Who hurt you comes out as a questioning trill. Somehow, it gets the point across.
“It’s alright,” his human says. “Really. I’m not even that hurt. It’s just been a long few months. We never talk much, so you wouldn’t know this, but I have to fight a lot of people. Perils of being a hero, you know?”
Duke knows about heroes. More specifically, he knows about mer heroes. He’s considered being one himself, but the currents shifted and he ended up more a loner, banding with the other rejects of the city to live in the fringes and help only those who wander out too far from the marginally safer waters within.
He hasn’t heard of any human heroes, but then again, he doesn’t know much about humans at all. Nothing beyond the stories all parents tell their children to scare them away from the surface, or the horror stories kids tell each other in the middle of the night when they want to scare each other.
He hums again to let his human know he’s listening. His human has such a nice voice. Why haven’t they done this before?
It’s always been a push and pull between them, carefully keeping their distance but always circling back to each other. Duke would let his human swim with him, and his human would let Duke sit safely on the other side of a tide pool, tossing sea shells back and forth between each other.
They don’t even know each other’s names.
He wishes, just for a moment, that he could go back in time and do things better. But he’s happy here with his human and he doesn’t want to lose this either.
He’ll just have to make the best of what he has. It’s how he’s always lived after his parents disappeared.
“This really isn’t that bad,” his human says, “I’ve taken worse hits before. It’s just that I couldn’t transform before the attack started, so now my human form is bruised too.”
…Human form? The more Duke hears, the more questions he has.
Duke hums at a lower octave, placing a hand over his human’s chest.
His human laughs lightly. “Yeah, I guess we’ve never really talked much about ourselves, did we? I’m human, don’t worry, just not all the time. I… actually, I died a few years ago. But I came back partially. So I’m also half dead still and I can transform into a ghost to fight threats. I’m a hero called Phantom. Actually, Danny Phantom since I was stupid enough to just give out my first name when I started out. In my defense, my brain was still a little fried.”
There is so much he wants to say to that. He tries, and makes a series of low hums and clicks in the back of his throat, staring at Danny (he finally got his human’s name!) incredulously.
“I promise I’m fine,” Danny continues. “It was just a bit rough. As soon as I get some time to recover, I’ll be good as new! And I really did miss you, you know. Didn’t even go home first, just come straight here.”
That’s honestly really sweet. Duke hums again, a lighter pitch, and takes hold of Danny’s wrist and tugs him towards deeper waters.
“What? You want me to go in?”
Duke nods, already shuffling his way back out of the sand.
He expects to look awkward during the process. What he most definitely doesn’t expect is for Danny to easily pick him up and walk them both into the ocean.
Listen. Duke is not a small mer. He’s big. He’s got a long, heavy tail and wide fins going down his back, his forearms, and the sides of his tail. It’s a struggle for him to fit into seaweed nests with his friends during the colder seasons, often left to balance on the edge with his tail hanging out. His friends struggle to pull him through the water with his weight. His parents weren’t able to hold him much after he started growing.
None of this matters to Danny, who acts as if Duke weights nothing at all.
To his great embarrassment, his fins flare in appreciation for Danny’s strength. He was not expecting a human to be so strong, but Duke’s not about to lie to himself and say it’s not attractive.
He trills to Danny, who laughs again, then falls into the water, taking them both under.
Duke doesn’t hesitate. He grabs hold of Danny and swims them further out. He stays close to the surface so Danny can rise for air as needed, but he makes no move to leave Duke’s side even after a few minutes.
He glances back, concerned, when he sees that Danny is watching him with dark eyes, not breathing at all despite being conscious.
Danny holds up a finger and closes his eyes. Two rings of light appear around his waist, then split apart and pass over his body. Instantly, Danny’s body becomes lighter, as if Duke’s hand is grasping at a current on the seabed. His hair turns white and his eyes glow from how bright of a green they are, but there’s something inhuman about his features now, something that makes him look different beyond just physical features.
Well. Danny did say he could transform.
Now that they’re underwater, Duke can finally speak. The first thing he asks is, “What was that?”
Danny grins at him. “That,” he says, speaking with ease as if he’s not underwater at all, “was my transformation. And this is my ghost form. Quite the look, isn’t it?”
“You can talk down here?! Also, hi, my name’s Duke. Since I never introduced myself.”
“Ghosts can do a lot of things,” Danny answers with a cheeky grin. “It’s nice to finally know your name. I’ve been calling you glowfish in my head this whole time.”
“Glowfish?”
“Yeah. Because you, you know,” Danny gestures vaguely at him, “Glow.”
Duke glances down at his back fins, which are indeed glowing. They flare a bit from embarrassment, which just makes the dots of light lining the fins more visible. He doesn’t glow a lot, keeping a tight hold of that ability, but sometimes it comes out anyways when he’s feeling especially happy.
And apparently, he’s always very happy around Danny.
It’s a good thing Danny doesn’t know what that means, because if anyone of his friends found out, they’d laugh at how obvious he’s being. Drawbacks of being somewhat bioluminescent: anyone familiar with mers who have this feature know exactly what the glow means.
“Right,” he says just a beat too late. “Well, now that we know each other’s names, can you tell me how you really feel? Those injuries didn’t look too good.”
“It’s fine, really! I take harder hits all the time.”
“That doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt.”
Danny doesn’t answer for a long moment, then sighs. “Yeah. It still hurts.”
“Stay with me for tonight,” he says. “You’ll be safe. You can rest and heal and I’ll keep you safe from anything that comes looking for you.”
“You don’t have to—”
“I want to.”
Danny doesn’t put up much of a fight. He must be exhausted. “Yeah, alright. Take me away, Duke. You know, this is like those stories about sirens luring sailors down into the depths.”
“Well, I am a siren.”
“Wait, really?”
“Yeah. I take after my mom. She’s the one who taught me how to sing.”
“I guess it’s a good thing we’re friends so I don’t have to worry about being dragged down to my watery death.”
Duke snorts. “Good thing you’re already a ghost then. Not much I can do to you down here.”
He swims down, heading towards a small cavern in a sea rock that he’s claimed as his own, leading Danny into it. The light from his fins illuminates the entrance and the rocks within, a narrow passage that goes in for a few meters before opening up into a larger space full of carefully tended to seaweed and starfish decorating the walls.
There’s a nook tucked away in the back wall where he’s set up a seaweed bed, the plant braided together into something more solid. It’s big enough to fit his tail, which means it’s big enough for him and Danny.
“Here,” he says, helping Danny down. “Get some sleep. Then you can tell me about what happened in the morning and we’ll take it from there.”
“I’m glad you’re here Duke,” Danny whispers, curling up on his side.  He holds Duke’s hand, twining their fingers together, and it’s as nice as it is strange to feel how cold Danny is in this form when he was so warm as a human.
“I’ll always be here for you. You just need to come back to me.”
Danny hums, but doesn’t answer. It’s alright; Duke’s used to his loved ones leaving. He knows he can’t make them stay. All he can do is hope they return one day.
It’s been a long time since he’s had anyone in his home. There’s a communal cave where his friends stay that he visits when he gets lonely, but this place used to be for his family. Now it’s just him.
Him and Danny.
The last time there was song in these walls, his mother was still around, singing him lullabies.
Looking down at Danny, curled up and so strangely fragile looking, Duke feels the song build up in his chest. It slips out in low, soft notes, an old melody passed down through generations of their family.
He sings Danny to sleep.
He sings and sings and sings until all his nightmares are soothed and dawn is almost upon them.
It’s all he can do, so Duke sings and hopes it’s enough to keep Danny close to him for just a little longer.

Ghost King vs Gotham
King Phantom knew he needed to step in and deal with Gotham. The wanton murder in that city meant that souls kept entering the Infinite Realms. Lack of space for those souls was not the issue. It was the pleas and cries from those souls that was the issue. Many of them wanted their killers dead or many of the villains in that city dead so their family members were safe. And even Walker demanded to condemn the crooked cops.
It was all a major headache and the biggest headache of all was Lady Gotham herself. She was stubborn and believed her Knights were doing what was best for the city. All despite the protest from the souls that came from the city.
Some even demanded that her Knights be condemned. Mainly Batman because he allowed those lunatics to run around killing them. Nightwing because children tried emulating him when they saw a kid their age fighting crime ( the lucky ones were killed straight away). Red Hood for selling drugs, not killing the major villains and getting innocent bystanders killed in his war against crime. Even the little Robin head was wanted because of his past.
Danny didn't want to step in to deal with matter but he knew he had to. So Danny had Lady Gotham step down as the city spirit and had his spies locate every crooked cop, politicians, heroes and villains. Once everyone was accounted for, he had them all captured and teleported to his courtroom to be judged.

the loyal attack dog has been done. the stupid goons have been (over)done. give me the villain’s henchman who’s arguably more evil than the actual villain and so has to be kept on a leash like an overeager puppy lest they kill their 17th random civilian

Hi I just finished reading your "Trust me" Hero x Villain story and it's amazing!! Ik it's a oneshot but would you please consider writing a part 2 for it? Your writing really drew me into the scene and it was beautiful!! 💖💖
-Hello!! Thank you for my first request ever! I originally wasn't sure whether I was going to make another part, but here it is! Hope you enjoy it!-
Part 1
Trust me-Part 2
Hero stood there in the thick silence a slight curiosity growing in their core, wondering what in the world Villain was doing behind their back. One moment turned into two and Hero had to stop themselves from squirming, trying to grip onto the bravery they had offered so freely seconds before. Villain was so silent, so still, it was unnerving. Hero was just beginning to wonder if they should turn around again when warm hands encircled their wrists causing them to jump. The hands were instantly removed.
“Sorry—sorry” Hero offered a quick apology “I just didn’t know where you were.” Their words faded away as Hero hung their head cursing their actions. They had just made a declaration of trust, yet their body had so easily betrayed them. Silence followed making Hero fidget.
“You uhh” Hero looked up at the ceiling, “You can remove the cuffs now.” They paused. “Please.”
Still no response, Hero was beginning to worry that perhaps Villain wouldn’t carry out the offer at all, however a slight rustle came from behind and the weight of their nemesis’s hands once again rested on their entrapped wrists. Hero fought a sigh of relief.
The seconds ticked by and Hero could feel Villain examining the cuffs, tugging, adjusting, the occasional warm breath against their palms as an indication of Villains close inspection. Hero relaxed slightly, the whole situation catching up with them. They shifted their weight slightly from side to side, the sudden lack of intense adrenaline flooding their system leaving them weak and shaky, they really wished they would have accepted the meal henchman had brought in earlier.
“Hold still.” Villains quiet command made them stiffen. Instantly they stopped shifting, cursing how weak their knees felt beneath them. Hero tried desperately to revive the energy they had before but to no avail, they found themself taking a small step forward to balance from falling over completely.
One of Villains hands gripped around Hero’s wrists and the other around their forearm to keep them steady. Hero could feel the intense gaze of Villain boring into the back of their head.
“Sorry.” Hero offered, barely a whisper.
A beat went by before Villain rose from the chair hand still holding their cuffed wrists as their other hand came between Hero’s arm and body pushing against their waist. Hero squeaked yet Villain maintained the contact continuing to push against them.
“Move.”
Hero complied. Villain was acting more like themselves, less like a sheepish schoolboy and more like their usual confident bravado. Hero couldn’t determine if that was a good thing or not. On one hand at least they were in familiar territory, on the other hand Villain was a great deal more imposing a figure. A stray shiver went down their spine, Hero wasn’t sure how to deal with imposing right now. Whatever Hero’s feelings on the matter, Villain continued to push Hero until they were perpendicular to the other chair that occupied the room.
“Now sit down and hold still.”
Hero had no other option as Villain’s hand left their waist and aided them to sit sideways, legs dangling over one arm of the chair and restrained hands just resting over the other side. Villains’ grip slid to Hero’s bicep as they helped them to scooch closer to the back of the chair and not fall embarrassingly onto the carpet. Hero tensed slightly as Villains grip pushed uncomfortably against the hand shaped bruises left by henchmen however to Hero’s great relief Villain said nothing, merely shifting their grip.
When Hero was properly situated Villain backed up leaving a blush of nervousness tingling through Hero’s entire worn-out body. Everything Hero had grown to expect from Villain was flipped topsy turvy on its head, something Hero was not enjoying in the slightest. Sure, it was nice to be looked after, but the way Villain did it…surely butterflies were a horrible aid to the healing process. Hero gulped avoiding eye-contact trying with everything left within them to remember that the fluttering mess at the bottom of their stomach was fear and not something less sinister. Whatever this odd feeling was Hero didn’t like it, trying to dredge up memories about who was across from them. Their tongue ran over the cut on their lip and instantly the funny feeling disappeared. After all gentleness is not weakness, Villain was strong as ever and Hero thought it best to remember that they were still at Villain’s complete mercy.
Villain knelt on one knee posture still immaculate and in control as they held eye contact with Hero breaking them from their thoughts.
“What I am about to do is very precise. You have to let me work and not move unless I guide your hands to do so. If you do the cuffs are going to put out an electric shock. Nothing you can’t handle however it will not be pleasant and—” Villain pulled up Hero’s sleeve. Hero’s eyes widened at Villains observantness trying to tug their arm away. Their efforts were ultimately in vain. “It seems you have had a long enough day already.” Their tone was almost soft yet Hero could have sworn they detected an angry undertone as Villain examined the bruising already taking on a purplish hue on Hero’s arm. Hero stopped fighting it, it was pointless. It was clear Villain was going to check on them whether they wanted it or not. Hero didn’t know what to do other than avert their gaze, no matter how many times the more caring side of Villain showed itself it still took them off their guard.
Villains fingers gently traced the hand marks unintentionally coming over a patch of delicate skin. Hero winced and tried to cover it, eyes still trained on the ceiling.
“Please just get me out of these things.” Their voice was quiet, almost pleading.
Villain allowed Hero’s sleeve to fall back over the damaged skin and Hero could have sworn there was a hint of teasing in their tone.
“If you insist.”
Villain promptly disappeared from view behind Hero as their hands began to once again work on the cuffs. Hero took deep breaths trying to not concentrate on Villains touch and surprisingly it worked better than expected. Although it had an undesirable effect as Hero leaned their weight against the back of the chair in exhaustion. Their body was spent, all they wanted to do was close their eyes and forget this whole sticky situation, but they had to keep their guard up. They could feel their eyelids growing heavier the longer they had to remain frozen for Villain. They scrunched their eyes trying to fight it and bit their tongue in effort to remain awake, it worked for awhile until even the pain was beginning to be drowned out by the wave of exhaustion. Then all of a sudden
*Click*
The cuffs unclamped and fell to the floor with a soft thud. That was enough to wake Hero up. They stood almost too swiftly on their wobbly legs and brought their hands in front of them, rubbing their sore wrists out of reach of their enemy and savior.
Villain remained kneeling on the floor eyes examining Hero from afar as they reclasped the now empty cuffs.
“You’re welcome.”
Hero nodded, still rubbing their wrists absentmindedly.
“No ‘Thank you’? I thought heroes had better manners.”
Villain stood slowly but confidently from the ground once again towering over Hero. Hero swallowed and couldn’t help but glance at the door, Villain followed their gaze.
“You want me to leave hmm?” Their voice wasn’t angry, more amused with what they were thinking, “Alright. Mind your manners and I’ll leave. All I need are two little words Hero.” Villain grinned enjoying their little game.
Hero opened their mouth, but no words came as Villain began to stalk forward tossing the cuffs on the comforter.
“Come now Hero, I thought you wanted to be rid of me.”
They were growing closer, a dangerous smile on their lips. Hero refused to back up, refused to repeat being pinned to a wall. They were a Hero for goodness sakes, surely they could hold their ground. Hero began to doubt that fact as Villain stood right before them causing Hero to tip their chin back to look up into Villains eyes, fighting for some semblance of authority.
Villain reached up taking the end of Hero’s hair and twirling it around their long fingers. Hero clenched their jaw trying their best to offer a worthy glare at their opponent. Both stood eyes locked before Villain smiled and began looking all over Hero’s face, allowing the other to glare all they wanted. Hero’s cheeks began to burn with Villains close inspection and they couldn’t help but look away. Villain chuckled leaning in and causing Hero to go completely ridged as Villain softly whispered, warm breath hitting their ear.
“That’s just it isn’t it, too much of a Hero to show gratitude to a Villain.”
Hero instantly revolted, stepping back away from Villain like a spring wound to tight, a heavy scowl on their face. It was quite a short-lived rebellion however as Hero’s legs decided to completely give way beneath their passion. Hero braced to hit the floor, but the floor never came. Even with their eyes squeezed shut Hero registered a warm arm had snaked around their waist strongly supporting their precarious position. Their eyes fluttered open to meet Villains only inches away, it would have been a simple feat to move forward and bump noses. Villain’s eyes were an all consuming blue gazing so intently, Hero gulped trying to shift in their grip to no avail.
“I had thought better of you than that, Hero”
Heros anger grew, they were a Hero and they hated how helpless they had become ever since Villain had walked into the room. They hated being so afraid.
“Let me go!”
Hero fought Villains grip while trying to keep the distance between their faces.
“You know what I want first.”
“And you know what I want! Now let go.” Hero snapped.
Villains grip was tight, reprimanding yet still not hurtful. Hero’s breath was beginning to speed up, the lack of control blocking out their thoughts.
“Let me go, Villain!”
“Hero.” Hero stopped; the tone of voice Villain used sending nervous signals to their core. Villain was serious. Hero didn’t know what it was about that tone of voice but they knew they should respect it. They paused eyes wide and searching amid the vastness of the blue eyes before them.
“Thank you.” It came out quiet and timid, something that irked Hero deep down.
“It was my pleasure” The tone evaporated as Villain spoke calmly.
“N-Now let me go.”
Villain dropped Hero on their butt.
Hero shot a glare and scooted away as Villain chuckled at Hero’s bothered expression. In fact, Hero looked quite childish on the floor scowling as if they were a kindergartener whom had been denied sweets.
“If only I had a camera to show you how silly your face is.”
“If only I had my powers to make you leave.” Hero spat no humor in their comeback. Villain’s eyebrows rose almost imperceivably.
“Careful hero, I leveled the playing field when I removed the cuffs. Don’t think I won’t rise to the occasion. Just because I can clean your wounds doesn’t mean I don’t have the ability to inflict them.”
Hero had the decency to drop their challenging gaze. Now was not the time nor place.
A strained pause fell over them both before Villain broke the silence.
“I did say I would be going,” He turned swiftly and with a certain elegance strode towards the door making a point to pause “Thank you for your time, Hero.”
Hero shuddered at Villains perfect control as he went to turn the handle.
But the handle didn’t turn. It was stuck. Villains composure was rattled for no more than a second before he tried once more. His fingers flexed around the knob and wiggling and pushing with great effort before he let his hand drop.
“It’s locked.”
A statement, not a question, and the statement was laced with an ill guarded anger.
A note was thrust under the door and Villain watched it for a moment hands clenched before he rigidly stooped to grab it. Hero could see Villains face darken as he read the words and gulped as he crumpled the paper into a ball. In an uncharacteristic fit of rage Villain kicked the door with a yell of anger and hero flinched, subtly dragging themselves further away on the floor.
An ominous laugh was heard on the other side of the door slowly echoing into nothingness as Hero could hear footsteps disappear down the hall.
The room was completely silent. Hero gazed up at Villain who was composing themselves looking quite small but no longer childish as they stared eyes wide. Villain never got angry like that. Ever.
Minutes passed before Villain spoke.
“It looks like I will be staying here for now, my Hero.”

Darkside Disney Princesses: Tiana
Tumblr media
Guys, I'm so sorry I meant to write out a whole thing for Tiana too cuz I love her (heck yeah, Lousiana gals) but Real Life threw another wrench my way and atm I'm too tired to do writing, so this also might be the last Darkside Disney Princess :(
But my basic idea was that instead of Charlotte taking her aside when she trips at the party after hearing she doesn't get the restaurant after all, Charlotte is distracted by the faux Prince Naveeen and so Dr. Facilier, seeing a desperate soul and never one to pass up an opportunity for a deal, swoops in, takes Tiana aside and starts laying out his whole sales pitch.
And Tiana is angry and tired and feeling humilated enough to make a deal. Hard work hasn't seemed to get her anything but emptiness and disappointed in the end, maybe it is ok for her to use an easy out. Just once.
She doesn't outright wish for the other buyer to die of course, she doesn't want that. She just wants them to be unable to outbide her on the property.
But voodoo dolls are just so convenient for the good doctor.
And so then, of course, she's in his pocket. The guilt over inadvertently causing a man's death and then benefiting from it, is ripe stuff for blackmail, plus once you make one deal, it's so easy to make another amd another whenever things start to look prickly. Plenty of people in Louisiana arn't happy about a black woman running a major business, and are willing to cause trouble in all sorts of ways.
And having some untraceable trouble come back their way is just so much faster--and satisfying--then trying to fight back clean.
Of course its not all bumping off bigots and bad critics. The good doctor knows so many well connected clients who'd be willing to help the restaurant out in less magical but equally prosperous ways--in exchange for some favors here and there, some permanent table seats shall we say? Use of a backroom or account book here or there.
After a while, it just becomes more expident to have the good doctor on the premises, a permanent background fixture at the increasingly high-end restaurant, with its increasingly shady bunch of wealthysharing his skills with so many of Tiana's willing patrons.
Between his front there and his puppet prince Laurence splashing his now orphaned wife's cash towards him whenever he needs, Dr Facilier's doing more than alright for himself. At this rate, with all the souls he's collecting, he'll be paying off his debts in no time. What Lousiana (and Tiana herself) looks like with all this voodoo and increased shady dealings...well, thankfully, that's just the Darkside verse's problem...
