#villain x sidekick
Short Prompt #1123
“Your abilities are simply incredible!” The villain exclaimed, ranting as they walked in a circle. “How in the world did Hero ever manage to get you on their side?!”
The sidekick paused lockpicking their cuffs. “...You think my powers are incredible?”

Hostage situation
“I’ve been thinking about what you said the other day,” Hero murmured, clacking the silver spoon at the edge of the table, their eyes fixed still on the full plate before them.
“Eat, Hero.”
Their eyebrows furrowed in response, face twisting into a scowl. Hero lifted their head, looking to meet the others' eyes, thinking that, perhaps, they were just as unsure to face truthfully the other as they were.
Villain was not. Brown eyes which shined yellow under the warm light of the room faced them, straight and unwavering.
Hero averted theirs once again.
“You don’t care for what I have to say?”
“Not particularly,” Villain answered, “but if it means a lot to you, go right ahead.”
Hero swallowed
“I’ll take your deal,” they answered, quickly, as fast as they could to disguise the trembling of their voice. “I’ll support your case, I’ll make sure it gets to Superhero, to the President and the Ministry of Security, I’ll get Sidekick back to you.”
Swirling their wine on the cup, white to make good pair with the salmon, Villain nodded, solemnly and slowly, almost doubtfully, and yet the mere hint of a positive answer made Hero’s heart pound inside their chest. Not yet relief but the dread that came right before it.
“Oh Hero,” Villain answered, the tone of pity melting with their words “but you’ve already done that, my sidekick’s being transported to me right now. A hostage exchange if you may.”
The chain on their ankle rattled as they threw themselves back on the chair, blood pumping inside their ears.
“Are you letting me go? Am I going back with Superhero?!”
A moment of silence was followed by a deep, hoarse laugh, rumbling across the room and shaking if ever so slightly the silverware and glasses.
“Of course not sweet, sweet, dumb thing,” they answered “you’re staying right here with me, with us.”
Hero’s heart felt like falling from a thousand floors. And a deep, unescapable sentiment of despair felt like a cold sweat inducing fever dream.
“No!” Hero wailed,  “No, no, no. You said that if, that when you, when Sidekick came back to you you would let me go, you promised! I told you I would take the deal.”
“You were too late, pet, you took too long, I want to keep you now.”

Prompt #273
"My eyes sting," Sidekick grumbled, rubbing their palms into their sockets.
Hero passed them a bottle of eyedrops from the glove compartment. "That is the way of stakeouts. It’ll all pay off once we catch Villain."
Sidekick rolled the bottle in their hands. "I have to pee."
Hero sighed. "Now?"
"Well, if you want me to go here--"
"Just be quick. We can't afford to let anyone see you.”
“Yeah, yeah.” Sidekick slipped out the passenger door, distancing themselves a good few hundred feet from the car before looking up and down the street for a gas station or convenience store or whatever else might have a restroom they could use. They pulled out their phone and began typing into the maps app. “Gas stations…near…”
A large hand wrapped around the screen, pushing it down to Sidekick’s side. The hero’s head shot up, and their insides froze.
Villain.
“I really don’t feel like dealing with Hero today,” the criminal said, working the phone out Sidekick’s hand, while the other arm wrapped—to and outsiders view, affectionately—around the back of their neck. “So I’d appreciate it if you didn’t scream.”

"Villain killed over twenty people in the last two days," Hero slammed the file down on the table. "He must be stopped."
Sidekick opened the file. Her hometown. Her knuckles turned white.
"Villain did this?"
"Yes. Over the weekend."
Hands in her hair, stroking, petting gently. His mouth against her ear, crooning softly that she's so beautiful, so lovely, such a pretty little thing all for him. She gasps. His hands run up the insides of her thighs.
Sidekick frowned. "Are you sure it was Villain?"
A vein bulged in Hero's forehead, and his pupils seemed to dilate. "Who else could it be? Villain is evil. He must be stopped."
I wouldn't call him evil, she didn't say.
His fingers traced the line of her jaw, the curve of her neck. She let out a breath against his chest, inhaling the smell of his dusky cologne.
"I'm just... do we have any proof?" Sidekick rubbed her knucke against her palm, studying the photos carefully. "I somehow doubt this was Villain."
Hero gripped the edge of the table, manic. "Excuse me?"
His lips on hers.
"It couldn't have been."
Her hands tangled in his hair.
"And how would you know?"
Because I was with him the whole weekend, she didn't say.
Sidekick closed the files, shaking her head. "It just doesn't match his MO, that's all."
"Twenty five people," Hero snarled. He jabbed his finger into the file, denting it with his enhanced strength. The table creaked. "He went in there with his minions and set fire to three houses. Did you read the file, Sidekick, did you? Because if you did you wouldn't even be questioning me."
Sidekick leaned away from Hero, nodding slowly to appease him. "Okay. Okay, I believe you."
"Good." Hero backed off. He tried to smile, but it came off rather unsettling.
"Have you seen the crime scene yet?"
"No. I was waiting for you."
Sidekick nodded. "We should get to it. Stop him as soon as possible."
Hero shook hos head, turning on his laptop, muttering to himself about forgotten passwords which Sidekick dutifully repeated back to him.
"Who knows what he'll destroy next - maybe that little food truck on 6th next."
"Mm." She flicked through her texts absently, nit fully hearing him. She read the newest text with a faint smile. Then- "How do you know about the truck?"
"Pardon?"
"How do you know about the truck. The food truck. It's only there on Saturdays, and even then, Mary's schedule is..." Sidekick's eyes widened in realisation. "It was you."

Part 1 somewhat sexual torture scene, anyone?
Tumblr media
Sidekick didn’t even dare to breathe as the villain carelessly ghosted their knife point against their bare chest. Occasionally, letting the razor sharp tip of the blade scrape or scratch the surface of Sidekick’s skin.
Hero had taught Sidekick how to handle pain, how to breathe through it, how to control their bodily reactions. But no one had prepared them to have bodily pain waved in their face but hardly ever acted out.
It felt like some sort of psychological game of the villain’s. As if they were planning to reduce the sidekick to tears and a begging mess by only ever suggesting pain, without ever using it.
At this rate, the adrenaline pumping at full speed through the sidekick’s veins—exhausting them—worried them enough to wonder if Villain’s method would actually work. If eventually they would beg to have the villain just hurt them already and stop playing games.
Villain dragged their knife up until the point rested between the sidekick’s collarbones. “I think I’ll start here… Make a cut allllll the way down the center of your chest,” they cut a thin straight line as they spoke, from the sidekick’s sternum to just above their belly button.
It stung more than Sidekick would’ve liked to admit, it burned even if it wasn’t deep and droplets of blood pushed through faster than the skin could settle from the intrusion of the blade.
“Push the blade in nice and deep, leave your whole chest open for me to see…” They pierced a little deeper into the skin at the bottom of their previous cut, emphasizing their point enough for the sidekick to yelp. Villain smirked at the reaction, “what do they call those? When you open someone up in the chest?”
Sidekick felt bile rise into their throat and they stifled a gag. “A-A vivisection?”
The villain hummed, their smirk only growing as they brought the knife back up to circle the hero-in-training’s shoulders, watching intently as the blade broke skin occasionally and the sidekick flinched adorably so. “Exactly. What a smart little sidekick, hm? I see why Hero picked such a prodigy as yourself. Although, I might’ve picked you for a reason other than your brains.” They winked, squeezing the sidekick’s thigh with their freehand.
But Sidekick couldn’t focus, they could hardly hear anything over the rush of blood and fear that ran to their head the second they realized the villain wanted to cut them open on a hotel room bed; prop their ribcage up and squeeze all their organs, slowly and agonizingly killing them.
“Y-You don’t really mean that, right?”
Villain’s eyes and attention pulled from their knife, back to the trembling sidekick beneath them. “Why? Does that scare you, Sidekick? Is such a gorgeous specimen like yourself scared?”
They would’ve said no. They should’ve said no. Yet they could only manage a terrified squeak before shutting their mouth once more, desperately attempting to calm their racing breaths.
“Maybe I should invite Hero… I’m sure they’d love to watch helplessly as I carve you up. Maybe leave the both of you tied up for Hero to slowly watch you slip away right in front of their eyes.” The criminal grinned as they watched the sidekick writhe in their bonds, fighting harder and harder to break free from the villain’s entrapment. “Do you think they’d enjoy that? Watching their perfect, hot, innocent, sidekick beg for mercy; beg to die?”
“Please—”
“Hm?”
“Please, please, please—” Sidekick heaved an anguished breath, sucking in air desperately like many of the villain’s waterboarding victims had.
They pulled their knife back, resting it instead against the bed below the sidekick and pressing a strong hand to the center of the other’s chest. Pushing Sidekick back down slightly to ground them from any oncoming panic attacks, even if it meant smearing some of their blood onto the villain’s palm.
Villain rolled their eyes, realizing they might’ve gone a bit hard on the poor trainee. “Relax, Sidekick. I’m not going to kill you, or cut you open, or experiment on you, or do any of the terrible things I’m sure you’ve already thought up.”
Sidekick flinched, their whole body twitching against the pressure of the villain’s hand. “You… You’re not?”
The villain’s grin stretched as they shook their head. “No. I might’ve, if your charm and good looks didn’t intrigue me so much. But fortunately for you, I think I’d rather get to know you before I plunge a knife into your heart.”
A skip in the sidekick’s heartbeat told them it was okay to take another breath, somewhat out of relief now. They did their best to ignore the burning wound on their chest and instead play grateful for their life’s sake, but somewhere deep down they were actually looking forward to it.
“However, unfortunately for you,” Sidekick’s heart sank along with the villain’s previously friendly smile. “I noticed in your struggle you hit the handicap emergency help button, which conveniently alerts the front desk of an issue in this room—as I’m sure you’re already aware.”
Villain reached out again for their blade, plucking it off the bed while they shuffled their position to pin the sidekick down by their neck. “And as much as I know someone will be here to rescue you any minute now, you must understand that I won’t let you get away that easily.”
Before Sidekick could react they felt the villain’s knife pierce the skin just above their collarbone. They tried to shout, struggle, anything, but Villain was fast, precise and had an advantage against the struggling sidekick from above.
They carved, almost reaching the other’s jugular vein, but their knife work was educated enough to miss. And once they were done they moved their mouth to the wound, gently sucking the blood from their raw skin, before standing up and turning on their heel to make their escape through the window.
Villain hesitated before they jumped, looking back at the wreck of a sidekick they had left tied to the bed. “Tell Hero I said hi! Oh, and that I think you’re delightful~”
With that, the villain was gone, and the rhythmic drumming of knuckles against the room door sounded in perfect timing as the villain’s carved initial bled from its spot above the sidekick’s collarbone.

Right Here. Right Now.
Warnings: hidden injury, violence, blood, unconsciousness, unclear character status
The sharp pain in Hero's side flared with each movement. When Villain had first injured them, they could barely breathe through the pain. But they had to. Had to keep going. They couldn't stop until Villain was subdued. Then, and only then, would Hero allow themself to address the pain. They were grateful their uniform hid the wound. Sidekick and Superhero would stop, drop everything, to help them, and then Villain would get away.
Hero couldn't let Villain get away. They pursued Villain with ferocious energy. This was ending now. Together, with Sidekick and Superhero, the heroic supers surrounded Villain and their closest minions.
"Drop your weapon," Sidekick ordered as they trained their own weapon on Villain's head.
"Or what?" Villain hissed.
"Or we'll just end you. Right here. Right now." Superhero spoke coldly and clearly.
Hero just needed to last long enough for Villain to surrender. Long enough for Superhero and Sidekick to restrain them. Then and only then they could sit down. Could rest.
As the world swam in and out of focus around Hero, they realized Villain had to surrender soon. They couldn't hold on much longer. Hero swallowed, their mouth as dry as a desert.
"What will you give me?" Villain surveyed the supers coolly.
"Life. You will get to live, Villain," Hero said as they took a steadying breath. Not much longer. Not too much longer.
Villain's eyes jumped from Hero to Sidekick to Superhero back to Hero again. "And if I surrender, and I'm not saying that's what I'm doing, how do I know you won't just take me somewhere dark and hidden to kill me?"
"You don't," Hero said quickly. This needed to end. The world was spinning and they could feel the blood dripping down their side. It was a miracle it hadn't formed a pool at their feet.
Superhero glared at Hero. "We're not about that." They took a step towards Villain. "Just surrender, Villain. We'll discuss next steps once you surrender."
Villain considered Superhero's words. Hero tried to take a deeper breath as the pressure in their chest built. They couldn't get enough air. Their vision narrowed to a narrow tunnel around Villain's face, the rest of the world fading to the darkness that was threatening to drag Hero down.
Finally, Villain opened their mouth. "I surrender."
Hero let out a sigh of relief as their eyes closed. Their world shifted as they released their death grip on remaining upright. Hero could feel themself fall into the dark as Sidekick called out for them. But it was too late, the darkness claimed Hero.

“And just where might you be off to?” Villain’s voice cooed from behind Sidekick, a cold trickle sent down their spine as they shivered, “I uh-y-I…I swear I-”
“I-I-,” Villain mocked, taking a step closer, leading Sidekick to be pressed up against the door, “Darling,” Villain cooed, leaning in close as they tilted their head, “Do you not enjoy staying here?”
A sob caught in Whumpee’s throat as they tried to speak but they couldn't form any words. “What’s the matter, darling,” Right Hand crooned, raking their hand through Sidekick’s hair- who jumped, not noticing their advance on them. “Cat got your tongue?”
And suddenly, the gentle touch in their hair turned into an iron-tight grip as they tightened their fist, slamming Sidekick’s head against the door. Sidekick cried out, their hands flying up in an attempt to claw at Right Hand’s grip but there was no use. Villain nodded once at Right hand and took a step backwards;
“I know you think you belong to Hero, you think that’s who you belong to, but let me make one thing very clear,” Villain was practically shaking from anger, seething as they watched Sidekick begin to fight against Right Hand's grip. The sound of the switchblade opening made Sidekick freeze up.
“You don’t belong to anyone else but Right Hand and I. We own you, not Hero, not Civillain, not anyone,” Villain stepped closer, their knuckles white as they gripped the handle of the knife. “Nononono-”
Right Hand had managed to move behind Sidekick, pinning their back against their own chest as Villain advanced towards them. Sidekick cried out, tears streaming down their face as they thrashed against Right Hand, “NO-nonono ple-please ‘m so-sorry-” They sobbed, “I di-didn't mean- I-”
A sob erupted from their throat as the cold metal blade traced lightly along their ribs, the other froze, shivering and trembling as they squeezed their eyes shut. “Oh darling,” Right Hand cooed, playing with Sidekick’s hair, soaking in how they trembled, “We’re doing this for your own good.”
Sidekick jolted as the blade slashed once across their chest. Right Hand tightened their grip, “We’re doing this because we care about you,” They soothed, “You belong to us.” The knife next drew a long red line just below Sidekick’s collarbone, making the other yell through gritted teeth.
Villain lightly traced the knife up along their collarbone, up up up their neck, smudging a glistening red streak along their skin from their previous wounds. The knife stopped just under their chin, forcing their head up. Sidekick shook with a sob but slowly blinked their eyes open, a tear immediately falling as their eyes met with Villain’s.
“You belong with us,” They whispered, their voice making Sidekick shiver, a whimper escaping their throat.
“You belong to us and only us. Sidekick-” They slowly tucked a short curl behind Sidekick’s ear and Villain smiled gently, “We are the ones for you. You're made to be with us. We would do anything for you.”
Sidekick slowly cringed back into Right hand but they nodded.
Villain gently brought their hand against the cut along Sidekick’s collarbone. Sidekick bit their lip, holding in a cry as Villain slowly leant in and spoke quietly, “Who do you belong to, dove?”
Sidekick whimpered, tears streaming down their face as they rasped out but eventually spoked, “Y-you guys- o-only you guys.”
Villain’s eyes sparkled with delight and Right Hand smiled, gently massaging Sidekick’s scalp, “Oh, well done, Honey, we’re so proud of you.” Sidekick sobbed as all they could do was lean into the soft, gentle touches. Villain pocketed the knife quickly and cupped Sidekick’s face gently, their thumb brushing along their cheekbone, “I know it's hard, I know, dove. But here with us is where you belong, with us.” Sidekick wanted to fight, everything in them told them to resist. But this is where they belonged.
With them.

💫Writing Prompt #62
After years of working together, Hero and Sidekick fall in love and get married. Sidekick is a gentle soul and Hero is all for fighting in the name of justice, a perfect golden couple. During one fateful fight against the villains, Sidekick sacrifices themselves to save Hero.
The last thing they remember is Hero’s distraught face, clutching their body close and begging them not to die. Sidekick ‘awakens’ years later, finding out that Hero had managed to revive them somehow. Sidekick is grateful for the second chance with their beloved, and doesn’t question it when Hero insists they stay at home and rest. Everything seems picture perfect, but Sidekick starts to notice long stretches of time when Hero disappears. Hero’s increasing persistence that Sidekick not look at news from the outside world is getting suspicious. On a day Hero is away, Sidekick manages to contact their old friend. Since Hero’s death, there’s a terrifying new Supervillain in town. They utterly annihilated the old group of villains and now reign supreme. Sidekick is horrified, insisting that they and Hero should come and stop this. Their friend is silent for a while before hesitantly saying, “….Sidekick. Hero is Supervillain.”

The hero looked around the alley and startled as they saw two amber eyes staring right back at them. They cautiously backed away, hoping that the villain would at least give them a chance to explain.
"I've been waiting." The low rumble of the villain's voice brought goosebumps on the hero's arms. They were truly in trouble. The villain's usual jovial mood and happy demeanor was nowhere to be seen.
Oh no, they were truly in trouble.
"Look, I-" The hero fumbled, wringing their fingers nervously. "I know I messed up. It was just too nerve-wracking. Going against my mentor...I tried but honestly the pressure caught up to me. I was thinking that I was all alone but I was still trying, but then the media showed up which meant it was live and everyone was-"
"How is your leg?"
"Huh?" The hero stopped blabbering and looked at villain's face. The villain's face did not give away any signs of anger but it almost seemed...worried? No, the shadows from the street lights must be messing up villain's face.
"Your leg. I watched the broadcast and you took a terrible fall. Let me look at it."
The hero hurriedly stepped back as the villain reached for their leg. Was this some other kind of punishment for messing up? The hero had often heard rumors of the villain's brutal methods. Was this one of the tortures?
"Hero" The Hero stilled, shaking in fear as the Villain stood in front of them, daring them to take another step. They flinched as the villain bent down to observe their leg. They felt a warm hand rest on their knee. Oh lord, were they going to snap their knee?
The hero relaxed as they felt warmth seep into their leg from villain's palm. Right, they had heard about villain's ability to heal. The warmth seemed to be pressing a comforting hand to their back as if beckoning them to take rest.
The hero felt their body hit the ground but felt no pain. No, they felt as if they were in heaven, floating through clouds while angels sang in their ears.
One such angel looked down at them and shook their head. They ruffled hero's hair and whispered, "What am I supposed to do with you?" The angel was truly beautiful.
Oh, the hero must be in some kind of trouble.

TWs: blood and the coughing up of it, swearing
42
Hero forced themselves up from the ground, the ground soaked red with their blood. The coppery smell was thick in the air, suffocating.
"You're going to," - they coughed and blood dribbled down their chin - "Regret- regret that." They only just managed to choke the words out before erupting into a series of coughs and blood.
"Am I now?" Villain pushed themselves off the wall they'd leant up against, taking a lazy step towards Hero.
"Yes." They spat blood onto the concrete.
"I could punch you in the ribs once and you would snap like a twig, Hero, don't even try. You're practically wilting where you stand."
Hero coughed again, stumbling to stable themselves against the wall. "I will kill you."
"Hero. Come on, baby, I've won. Aren't we done yet?"
More blood onto concrete. "Don't call me that. And don't pretend you give a shit if you kill me." They wiped their mouth, their hand coming away still connected to a string of blood mixed with saliva. "Don't pretend you don't want to. At least- at least a little bit."
Their mask of indifference flickered. "Hero, please. Just give up. I'm not killing you and you fucking know it."
"Hero please." Hero mocked. "Do I fucking know that, Villain? Do I? Have I fucking known anything since you left me for dead in a fucking jail cell?"
"Oh, cry me a river. You were fine." Villain took a step closer as they spoke, stopping in their tracks as Hero staggered backwards, clinging to the wall as they slowly slipped down it. "I lived there for years. You could handle two days."
"Two days? Like it would only be two days." They scoffed, slipping all the way and landing hard to sit on the ground.
"Two days, like two days later when I went back for you and you were gone, Hero, that kind of two days." They crouched down in front of Hero, keeping their distance, and reached out a wary hand. "Hero, please."
Hero coughed again, blood running down their neck like a gruesome necklace, and took Villain's hand.

Short Prompt #157
Sidekick gaped up from the floor, bruised knees not the only reason their legs had buckled beneath them. “Could I…maybe get you’re phone number?”
Villain glanced over their shoulder, wiping the blood from their teeth. “Are you sure that’s wise, little squirrel?”

This has been sitting in my drafts for so long
°•○
Villain tucked his finger under her chin, forcing Sidekick's teary brown eyes to meet his.
"Well, aren't you a little darling," he murmured, tilting her face as his steely eyes roved almost clinically across her features. Villain's other index finger traveled up her neck, tracing the line of her jaw.
"I don't know anything-" Sidekick blurted out, her lower lip trembling. So new to the business, Villain mused, she had no idea what she was dealing with. "He doesn't tell me anything, I promise."
"Oh I don't doubt that my darling." He dropped her chin, straightening up to loom over her. "I didn't take you because I thought you had information."
She peered up at him, squinting against the lights. "Why then?"
"Because I've seen how Hero looks at you. He won't leave you to fend for yourself in the wolves den." Chuckling to himself, Villain leaned down until their noses brushed. "And you make such pretty bait."
"He won't come for me. You're wasting your time, Villain." Her voice trembled as she spoke.
Villain chuckled and snapped his fingers. Immediately, one of his henchmen appeared with a chair. Villain took a seat across from Sidekick.
"Well then, we just have that much more time to get to know each other don't we?"
Sidekick pressed her lips into a thin line to stop the tears from falling. Villain watched with rapt fascination before he reached out to smooth his thumb over her cheek.
"Oh, pretty girl," he crooned gently, "don't cry now."
She presses her lips together. "I'm sorry."
He hates when I cry, she doesn't say. He hates that I'm too soft for this, she doesn't say. He despises me, she doesn't say, because my power is useless.
"Don't be." Villain sits back. "What is it you do, exactly - aside from take his bullets, of course."
"Excuse me?" She frowned indignantly. Oh, he's offended her now, on top of making her almost-cry, lovely.
"Its true. Whenever he's about to be hurt, you duck in front like a good little sidekick and take the hit."
"Better me than him," she blurts out. Immediately, Sidekick is clamping her mouth shut, wishing she could take the words back.
"What?"
She blushes. "My power helps. Its the only thing I'm good for. It's stupid."
"Tell me." He looks genuinely curious, eyebrows furrowing slightly as he tips his head to the side.
"Hero says it's not a real power. I can't really do much with it, but sometimes it comes in useful-"
"Sweetheart," Villain cut her off, "nothing about you could be stupid."
So she told him. He stared. And stared. And stared some more.
"I'll kill him."
"Wh- no, no you can't. He's good. He's helping the city."
"Is he now?"
"Yes." Sidekick lifted her chin defiantly. "He's saving it from you."
"I see." Villain stroked his chin. "So Hero is the epitome of good then, is he?"
"Yes."
"And I'm evil?"
"Yes." This one came out less sure. Villain arched an eyebrow. "You haven't hurt me yet."
"That's because I don't like damaging pretty things." Villain leaned closer. "And you are so pretty to look at."
Sidekick swallowed.
"I think I keep you," Villain said. "Hero hasn't been taking care of you, clearly-" he gestured to her general person, a scar on every exposed inch of skin- "if he doesn't show up in a week, I'm keeping you."
"You can't just keep me."
Villain patted her cheek fondly. "Watch me."

Thought #218
"You have to come on this job with us." Sidekick wined following Villain around.
"Why? It's just an easy play the chauffeur and take the person hostage job." Villain said with a huff.
Sidekick stopped and looked down at the floor. "Yeah it is, but the car is stick shift and you're the only person that knows how to drive it."

It was funny at first. But a week in, and nobody was laughing anymore when the sidekick your boss was keeping hostage was still cracking jokes and keeping up their morale.
As a henchman, you were sent to inform the sidekick of the unfortunate truth. Your boss did tell you to have tact about it, but why bother?
“You know superhero doesn’t want you anymore, right?” you tell them bluntly in your next visit.
The sidekick stared up at you. Chained up as they were, it only made them look even more eerie when their smile faded, both from their expression and their eyes.
“I’m not stupid.” the sidekick looked away. “Of course I know I was abandoned.”
