In the best known version of the myth, Oedipus was born to King Laius and Queen Jocasta. Laius wished to thwart the prophecy, so he sent a shepherd-servant to leave Oedipus to die on a mountainside. However, the shepherd took pity on the baby and passed him to another shepherd who gave Oedipus to King Polybus and Queen Merope to raise as their own. Oedipus learned from the oracle at Delphi of the prophecy that he would end up killing his father and marrying his mother but, unaware of his true parentage, believed he was fated to murder Polybus and marry Merope, so left for Thebes. On his way he met an older man and killed him in a quarrel. Continuing on to Thebes, he found that the king of the city (Laius) had been recently killed, and that the city was at the mercy of the Sphinx. Oedipus answered the monster's riddle correctly, defeating it and winning the throne of the dead king – and the hand in marriage of the king's widow, who was also (unbeknownst to him) his mother Jocasta.
Years later, to end a plague on Thebes, Oedipus searched to find who had killed Laius, and discovered that he himself was responsible. Jocasta, upon realizing that she had married her own son, hanged herself. Oedipus then seized two pins from her dress and blinded himself with them.

In ancient Greek religion and mythology, the Moirai, often known in English as the Fates, were the white-robed incarnations of destiny.
They controlled the mother thread of life of every mortal from birth to death. They were independent, at the helm of necessity, directed fate, and watched that the fate assigned to every being by eternal laws might take its course without obstruction. Both gods and men had to submit to them, although Zeus's relationship with them is a matter of debate: some sources say he can command them.

Poseidon is the god of the sea, earthquakes, storms and horses in Greek mythology. He was one of the Twelve Olympians. His parents were Kronos and Rhea. He was the older brother of Zeus.
Poseidon was generally regarded as an ill-tempered being. His mood was a reflection of the state of his realm. He was thought to conjure up violent storms at sea when angered. While he was married to the goddess Amphitrite, one of the Nereids, like his brother Zeus, Poseidon had a number of affairs with other goddesses and mortal woman, siring such heroes as Theseus and Bellerophon. Lord of the waters, Poseidon was both patron and protector of both sailors and seafarers, who would pray to him for safe passage across the sea. Poseidon was often regarded as the “Father of Horses,” as they were thought to be his creations.

Is so weird in me to post 2 days in a raw but well I have too many drawings to share so here’s Icarus ~
In Greek mythology, Icarus is the son of the master craftsman Daedalus, the creator of the Labyrinth. Icarus and his father attempt to escape from Crete by means of wings that his father constructed from feathers and wax. Icarus' father warns him first of complacency and then of hubris, asking that he fly neither too low nor too high, so the sea's dampness would not clog his wings nor the sun's heat melt them. Icarus ignored his father's instructions not to fly too close to the sun; when the wax in his wings melted he tumbled out of the sky and fell into the sea where he drowned.

I’ve been busy this past days, sorry for being so inactive I promise this next days I’ll spam a lot of drawing I have to post😂
This is the MINOTAUR:
He’s a mythical creature part man and part bull.
He dwelt at the center of the Labyrinth, which was an elaborate maze-like construction designed by the architect Daedalus and his son Icarus, on the command of King Minos of Crete. The Minotaur was eventually killed by the Athenian hero Theseus.

(This is long because it’s the myth) PERSÉFONE and HADES:
According to Greek Mythology, Persephone was the daughter of Zeus and Demeter, the goddess of harvest and fertility.
when Hades saw Persephone he was amazed by her beauty and freshness. When he asked Demeter to marry her daughter, Demeter got furious and said there wasn't the slightest chance for that to happen. Hades was heart-broken and decided to get Persephone no matter what.
One day, the young girl was picking flowers along with her friends. As she stooped down to pick a beautiful narcissus, the earth beneath her feet suddenly opened and through the gap Hades came out on his chariot with black horses. He grabbed her and before she could scream and descended into the underworld while the gap in the earth closed behind.
Demeter was furious at this insult. To punish gods and to grief, she decided to take a long and indefinite leave from her duties as the goddess of harvest and fertility, with devastating consequences.
The cries of the people who were suffering reached the divine ears of Zeus. The mighty god finally realized that if he wouldn't do something, all humanity would disappear. Thus he tried to find another solution to both calm Demeter and please Hades. He promised Demeter to restore Persephone to her if it can be proved that she stays with Hades against her will. If not she will stay with her husband.
At that point, Persephone had fallen in love with Hades, and he gave her to eat a pomegranate fruit. This was the food of the Underworld and every time someone ate even a few seeds of this, he would miss life in the Underworld. When the gathering took place Persephone answered she wanted to live with her husband. When Demeter heard that, she got infuriated and accused Hades that somehow he had tricked her daughter.
Demeter couldn’t accepted and refused to work again. To put an ed on this quarrel, Zeus decided that Persephone would spend half a year with her husband in Hades and the other half with her mother on Olympus. This alternative pleased none of the two opponents, nevertheless that had no other option but accept it.
And that was the beginning of the year seasons.

I finally post my Zeus ~
He is the god of the sky, lightning and thunder in Ancient Greek religion and myth, and king of the gods on Mount Olympus. Zeus is the sixth child of Kronos and Rhea, king and queen of the Titans.
His father, Kronos, swallowed his children as soon as they were born for fear of a prophecy which foretold that one of them would overthrow him. When Zeus was born, Rhea hid him in a cave on Mount Ida in Crete, giving Kronos a stone wrapped in swaddling clothes to swallow instead. Zeus eventually grew up and went on to free his brothers and sisters; together with their allies, the Hekatonkheires and the Elder Cyclopes, Zeus and his siblings fought against the Titans in a ten-year war known as the Titanomachy. At the end of the war, Zeus took Kronos' scythe and cut him into pieces, throwing his remains into Tartarus. He then became the king of the gods.

My second Greek mythology drawing is PERSEUS:
Perseus is the legendary founder of Mycenae and of the Perseid dynasty. He beheaded the Gorgon Medusa for Polydectes and saved Andromeda from the sea monster Cetus. He was the son of Zeus and the mortal Danaë, as well as the half-brother and great-grandfather of Heracles.

I’m making some greek mythology drawings on my summer sketchbook and I think it’s finally time to start posting them ~
The first one I made was Medusa
Medusa was the only Gorgon to possess snake locks, because they were a punishment from Athena. Accordingly, Ovid relates that the once beautiful mortal was punished by Athena with a hideous appearance and loathsome snakes for hair for having been raped in Athena's temple by Poseidon. Se was also the only mortal of the 3 gorgons.
