Maybe because I find it funnier for me to laugh at my disabilities then to sit there and feel depressed about it.
And because I know I’m gonna get these comments I’m not saying we should laugh it off when ppl put others down because of something they can’t control. To give context, I saw somebody saying not to use the phrase “did I stutter” because it’s ableist. I have issues with stuttering, it was so bad in elementary school that my mom had to sign me up for lessons with an a IEP teacher so they could show me how to get it under control. I use the phrase “did I stutter” with my friends and my family. Yes I was made fun of for having a stutter, yes ppl gave wired looks. I still thought it was funny, because my stutter never bothered me.
Now of course I’m not gonna use it around someone else who has issues with stuttering unless their like me and have fun laughing about it, but I’m not gonna get offended if someone says that phrase around me. Moral of the story, just be self aware. Not all of us are gonna get offended by it and some of us “like me” find it easier to laugh about our disabilities, but not everyone is like me and that’s ok👍
