Trust me – you will know when it’s ready, it smells amazing! How to serve Nasi Goreng Garlic, chilli and onion first, then chicken, then rice, kecap manis and shrimp paste, if using.Ĭook for a couple of minutes until the rice grains start to caramelise. The making part is very straightforward, no different to typical fried rice recipes. It’s not just about cooling the rice, it’s also about making the surface of the rice dry out. Speedy option: Cook the rice, spread out on tray then FREEZE for 1 – 2 hours, or refrigerate for 3 – 4 hours. On the other hand, day old cold rice is drier and harder, so the rice can be stir fried in the sauce in a way that makes it become caramelised which gives Nasi Goreng the signature colour and flavour. It’s simply not possible to make any fried rice with hot, freshly cooked rice – it gets kind of stickier when stir fried in sauce. While shrimp paste is optional, the COLD cooked rice called for is not! I’ve included directions in the recipe for you. It’s thicker and sweeter than normal soy sauce, with a consistency like syrup.ĭon’t go running for the hills thinking it’s a hard-to-find-ingredient! Here in Australia, kecap manis is available in major supermarkets (see here for Woolworths).Īnd if you can’t find it at your supermarket, don’t worry! It is SO easy to make – just reduce soy sauce and brown sugar. So I’ve compromised and taken the easy route by using shrimp paste rather than dried shrimp which requires more effort in the preparation process (crumble and toast before using).Ī distinguishing feature of Nasi Goreng is the dark brown colour of the rice from the kecap manis / ketjap manis which is an Indonesian sweet soy sauce. It’s tasty even without dried shrimp – and in fact, when I originally shared this Nasi Goreng recipe in 2016, I chose the version without shrimp paste because of that reason.īut it is tastier and more authentic with dried shrimp. Some are more complicated than others, calling for the use of dried shrimp (belacan) which, astonishingly, is now sold in large supermarkets in Australia as well as Asian stores. Typically it’s served with a sunny side up egg (love how the yolk runs into the rice!) and a side of fresh cucumber and tomato (no dressing) to make a meal of it.Īs with almost every traditional dish, there are many versions of Nasi Goreng. The thing that distinguishes it from other Fried Rice dishes is the sauce which is made with kecap manis, a sweet soy sauce that stains the rice dark brown and caramelises the rice when it cooks. The literal translation of Nasi Goreng is “fried rice” in Indonesian and Malaysian – and that’s exactly what it is! It’s mainly rice with just a little bit of meat and just onion for the vegetables. So for those who have tried and love Nasi Goreng, you will be surprised how easy this is to make in your very own home.Īnd for those who haven’t tried it, I hope you do! What is Nasi Goreng? 🙂Īnyone who has been to Bali would be familiar with Nasi Goreng and probably had it almost every day because it’s everywhere and darn delicious! I love the unique dark brown, caramelised colour of the rice! It’s a simple recipe, you won’t need to hunt down any unusual ingredients, and it’s one of my favourite Indonesian foods – and I’m betting you will love it too. Nasi Goreng is the popular Indonesian fried rice which is traditionally served with a fried egg.

been a while since i made one of these and ppl seemed to enjoy them, but here are my cooking endeavors this week:
- made a couple of easy weekday pasta dishes w pesto (finding it tough to go back to the jarred stuff after a streak of making my own). i made 2 different ones w varying things, crumbles of goat cheese or bacon or broccoli or slivers of asparagus or buttered oyster mushrooms or lemon, generally whatever green-ish thing that was looking sad in the fridge
- had a couple of sort of tasty but mostly sad fried fish sandwiches from frozen cod filets i had purchased on accident. used my favorite pickle chips and kewpie mayo and soft white burger buns, pretty much every other element was better than the fish itself which made for a not very delicious dinner but one that got the job done lol
- a plush vanilla layer cake w blackberries swirled into the batter and topped w a vibrant homemade lemon curd and clouds of whipped cream mascarpone frosting and deep purple sugared smashed blackberries and their juices. stained my fingers but was sticky and delicious and summery, would have been great for a tea party if i’d had one to go to
- i made 2 discs of pie dough, one i popped in the freezer for a future cherry pie (my gf’s request) and one for a gruyère, spinach, sausage quiche im making for dinner tonight bc i have an abundance of eggs and a deep love of breakfast food
- i prepped a chicken for roasting tomorrow, it’s now resting uncovered and spatchcocked in my fridge, coated thickly w a rotisserie inspired blend of spices to dry brine. i boiled some waxy yellow potatoes to make it easier to roast them w the chicken tomorrow when i get home from work . simple + easy for my future tired self
- will also be making a cucumber salad to go with the potatoes and chicken bc we have 8 cucumbers (not an exaggeration) to work through and i need a cold crunchy vegetable to eat every day in the warm months or else i shrivel up and die
- planning to use my leftover roast chicken to make either a caesar salad or a caesar salad wrap or something for dinner the day after tomorrow, something easy to make after a long day at work and tbh very little brings me more joy than homemade caesar dressing and cold romaine
- busted out the ice cream maker !! have plans to make both a pineapple sorbet and a toasted coconut vanilla ice cream (sweetened w condensed milk maybe? for the nuttiness?) so then i can swirl the two flavors together in my little bowl :)

thinking about saeyoung at the apartment ordering two tons of takeout and being like "you need to eat dont worry about me im FINE its FINE" while trying to pretend he doesn't care, and MC who's a decent cook being like "hell no we both need REAL food" and cooking something for them both and refusing to eat until she sees saeyoung eat first ("i made this for you so you BETTER eat it or I WILL cry.") imagining saeyoung doing everything he can not to cry bc when was the last time he had a hot home cooked meal?? i know vandy makes him food sometimes but this is different. MC made this for him. as soon as he's finished she hands him seconds bc this boy needs to EAT. he doesn't know how to process this
"Here."
Luciel looked up from the table in disbelief as MC slid another serving of crispy pancakes onto his plate. "I've eaten enough."
"You scarfed the first batch of pajeon down as if you haven't eaten in days," MC retorted. "You can say what you want with your words, but your actions show that you're lying." A soft grumble hit both of their ears, and Luciel turned his burning red cheeks away as MC narrowed their eyes at him. "And your stomach is giving you away, too."
Luciel didn't turn back even as the scent of oil and herbs tickled his nose, forcing him to swallow hard as his mouth began to water. "I bought enough food to last me a while," he muttered. "Pizza. Fried chicken. Tacos. I got a variety so that--"
"That's not going to satisfy your body's needs for vitamins!" MC snapped. Seemingly surprised by their own outburst, MC quickly clapped their free hand over their mouth. Luciel didn't need to look to know that their face must have been bright red in frustration and embarrassment. Maybe even regret.
Why should anyone regret being harsh with scum like him?
"... so that you would have options and not get bored," he finished at last, his voice barely above a whisper. They'd both be better off if MC didn't hear those words, the only honest words he'd spoken in days.
MC sighed and slid into the chair across the table from him. "Sev-- Luciel," they began cautiously. "You know you can't live off chips, soda, and fast food."
He snorted. "I've lived off worse and less."
Maybe he was too dismissive. MC was clearly concerned about him and only being so stubborn because he wouldn't take care of himself otherwise.
He was used to scraping by. He didn't need to be cared for. He didn't need that comfort...
He needed it, but he couldn't let himself have it, knowing that Saeran was far more miserable than he ever could have imagined. Why did Luciel deserve someone who cared about him? He would live threadbare and on stale bread if that meant Saeran could smile, could laugh, could stare at the clouds, could... could eat a homemade meal cooked with love.
"Aren't you going to eat?" He gruffed at last, turning back towards the table without making eye contact with MC. "You promised you'd eat if I did."
"I will. But first..." MC poked absent-mindedly at their plate with a fork. "Did you like it? It's not my usual pajeon recipe, but..." They chuckled half-heartedly, a sound that was bittersweet in its mixture of warmth and shame. "I thought adding more potato would appeal to you, since you love those chips... and I made the dipping sauce with extra honey for that reason, too...."
They sat in silence for a moment, as they both absorbed the meaning of those words. MC confessed that they cooked these pajeon with him in mind. Luciel had to accept that MC prepared a dish that would not only appeal to his tastebuds, but also sneak in some eggs and vegetables for his health.
"They're delicious," he murmured. "The best I've ever eaten."
He dared to sneak a glance at MC, who was shuffling uncomfortably in their seat. No, not uncomfortably. Perhaps... in anticipation? Did his praise make them feel relieved or anxious? "Promise?"
"I... don't like making promises," he replied. His promises usually ended up cursed to be broken. "But I mean it."
"Then..." More shuffling. Did he say something wrong? He couldn't afford to be too nice, lest MC get attached to him. "Would you... feed me a bite, so I can see just how tasty they are?"
But as his freckled face burst into flustered flames, he knew that he was too late to prevent that.

"You're just saying that because you haven't kissed me." he crosses his arms over his chest acting proud of his supposed kissing skills.
"please when i say guys, i mean all guys in general. it's like you're tryna slop up an ice-cream when you try to kiss someone."
"puh-lease. don't count me in amongst these numb skulls. i've had a lot of ladies tell me about my amazing tongue skills."
"uhuh, and how many of them were drunk out of their minds?" You roll your eyes and stand up, pushing past people to go to the kitchen. you pour yourself another drink and chug it down before refilling your glass once again.
*the next day*
Jimin sits down opposite to you and next to Jungkook while Taehyung sits down next to you.
"whatchu guys talking about?" he takes hold of a fork and digs into his burrito bowl.
"I just don't get why you said that to me yesterday. like you haven't kissed me to know about my kissing skills!" He brings up last night's topic again while stabbing a piece of fried chicken with his fork.
"ugh! im not doing this again." You roll your eyes.
"What! its true. stop normalising everyone else's behaviours on me. i'm not like everyone else."
"yea yea. you're the golden ball or something, aren't you?"
"egg. im the golden egg."
"tomayto, tomahto." You roll your eyes again.
"Stop it would you!" He groans and packs up his takeout box and stands up frustrated and walks away.
"what! is this your way of saying you wanna kiss me!" you watch him walk away angrily.

you tilt the bottle of Gin more, adding more alchohol in your glass than you normally do. you take a sip from it and turn to all the kids from your college who were dancing, making out and grinding against each other while being drunk out of their minds.
maybe it was the amount of times you've chugged down glasses of tequila, vodka and Gin but you were starting to feel the hit a little. you walk over to the other living room and drop on the couch next to Yoongi as he passes you the joint he was smoking. you hold your glass on your lap while taking a puff from the joint and blow it out, repeating the process a few times until you start feeling the high.
the couch dips next to you and you look to see Jungkook sitting down next to you. he takes the joint from you and takes a few puffs and leans his head back against the backrest of the couch to feel the high coursing through his body better.
"hey." He says when he feels you leaning against his side and extends his arm over the backrest to let you get comfortable.
"hey." You take the joint from him and take another puff before taking a sip from your drink and passing the joint to Yoongi.
"and the love birds are back at it again." Taehyung says entering the room with Jimin. he goes and takes a seat next to Yoongi while Jimin walks upto both of you, sits on Jungkook's lap and leans in against you to whisper some things in your ear.
"You know, I heard our little Kookie moaning your name while jerking off last night after the fight between you two. maybe he's got a kink for hate-fucking. think about it." He says even tho he knew Jungkook was listening.
"shut up hyung. it's gross of you to listen in to what I'm doing in my room." he pushes Jimin away from you.
"you were being too loud even after i asked you to shut up." he looks back at him while turning to sit sideways on his lap, his legs now laying over yours and Jungkook's legs.
"this is too much TMI for me. i don't wanna know about anyone's sexual adventures. especially not of the people I hang out with on a daily basis." You take the joint from Yoongi and take a few puffs before passing it to Jungkook.
"Why? is it because you'd feel jealous you're a part of them only as an imagination and not in reality?" Jimin chuckles ask Jungkook snorts while passing him the joint.
"You're disgusting. you wish i'd wanna have sex with any three of you fuckers who always sweat like a heroine addict." You chug down the last sip of alchohol left in your glass.
"now now don't get all defensive, Y/n. we know how bad you want us." Taehyung pitches in and you flip him off before holding your glass out to him asking him to get you a refill.
he laughs softly and takes your glass before standing up and asking around the room if anyone else wanted a refill too and left the room with their glasses.
you guys continue drinking and smoking, cracking weird jokes that unnecessarily make you all laugh too hard due to how buzzed you guys were but noone cared.
as the night went on, some people left the party but a lot of them stayed and now you were left with Jungkook on the couch you curled up into his side while Jimin and Taehyung went out to busy finding themselves girls to have a different type of fun with.
"about what you said the other day.." Jungkook starts causing you to sigh and pull away to sit straight. "no. listen to me." he pulls you back against him.
"about what you said the other day, I was offended because you're really judging a book by its cover. that phrase is something you say all the time so why aren't you following up with it now?" he wraps his arm around your neck to keep you close.
"thats what literally every guy says, and you all turn out to be the same." You snort and start laughing.
"not with mee~" He whines softly. "give me a chance and you'll understand."
you raise an eyebrow and look at him only to realise he was being serious.
let's take chances tonight then.

Vegan/Vegetarian shopping list:
Pre Made salad bags (it’s a lot cheaper to just buy bagged salad and add to it, then buying a bunch of ingredients that will go bad if not used)
Make a list of fruits and vegetables that you like and get them (some times if you get the funky shaped ones you get a few cents off, even if you don’t that stops the funky shaped produce from being tossed)
Nut butters (most almond and peanut butters are vegan, jelly and Jams aren’t because they’re made with gelatin)
Bread, check the ingredients because a lot of breads are accidentally vegan/vegetarian ( Vegetarian/Vegan (link) Sandwiches will be your best friend)
Pasta (like bread a lot of pasta is accidentally vegan, CHECK THE INGREDIENTS)
Rice and beans are some of the cheapest things to buy, buy them dry and you can have them for a while in your pantry
Google vegan ramen, (if you’re like me and love spicy ramen then you’ll be happy to know Samyang 2x spicy hot chicken flavor Ramen in the red pack is VEGAN they use artificial chicken flavor rather then animal products. Vegan Kimchi regular and spicy is a lot easier to find then you may think just look for ones without fish sauce and shrimp)
Tofu (tofu is very versatile and it’s great source of vegan/vegetarian protein made from soy, it takes flavor beautifully and it’s relatively cheap firm/extra firm is best)
Cheese (there are so many vegan cheese options, for grated parmigiana follow your heart has both grated and shredded, Violife has a block. Violife has the best shredded substitutes, and singles. Daiya is a little weird in my opinion however they’re cheddar dairy free Mac and cheese is amazing (you just gotta use different pasta then it comes with)
Meat substitutes ( We’ve come a long way with decent vegan meat substitutes, beyond meat makes a whole variety of plant based meat substitutes that are very tasty especially if you’re still craving that meaty texture. Impossible meat substitutes also has amazing plant based meat substitutes, Impossible also has vegan chicken nuggets that tastes like McDonald’s and even have dino shaped ones. Light life has everything from vegan sausage crumbles to Bacon, the vegan bacon and hot dogs are amazing)
Eggs (just egg and simply egg are planted based substitutes for eggs, they’re liquid like an egg beater but can be used in place of eggs from a scramble to a baking ingredient)
Dairy (Vegan milk/coffee creamer you got options coconut, almond, soy, oat, pea protein. Pick what you like best. Personally California farms Oat milk in original and California farms oat vanilla creamer are my favorites. I’ll throw cream cheese and Yogurt in here as well Kite Hill regular and Strawberry cream cheese are my favorite, Kite Hill blue berry, and Strawberry vegan yogurt are my favorite. MIYOKO’S vegan butter)
Snacks (Lenny and Larry’s plant based chocolate chip cookies, Spudsy sweet potato puffs they have a million different flavors I like the hot fries. Vegan rob’s dragon puffs these are the vegan equivalent to hot Cheeto puffs but without the red dye 40. Vegan rob’s also has cheese puffs)
Sauces (Anne’s goddess dressing is very tangy, Diaya blue cheese and Caesar dressings are amazing, can be thick though, they also have ranch but I got a vegan homemade ranch recipe. Hot sauce, Franks, Cholula, Tabasco, and Tapatío are vegan. Ketchup& mustard are vegan. Hellmans and follow your heart have vegan mayonnaise,Sir Kingston’s and Follow your heart also have chipotle Mayo. Follow your heart also has vegan sour cream)
Seasonings (seasons you should have in your cabinet click here, the dollar tree sells all these for a dollar and most grocery stores sell adobo)

4. favourite dish specific for your country?
i cant pick 😭 there’s too many i love, im gonna pick some from each category
soup : right now im really craving these chicken soups, like just chicken broth, with potatoes, beans, carrots, chicken, sometimes corn too…
appetizer : bakwan (fritters)! or martabak! (fried egg thingy with a thin skin of something idk i never made it 🙃)
main course : one of my favorite is rendang, that’s beef cooked with spices and coconut milk for houurrsss long. that or any kind of sate, which is beef/chicken/pork with sweet sauce, grilled over open fire
dessert : kue lapis legit (literally translates to chewy layered cake), pie susu (milk pie, from Bali), and this last one has a funny name im sorry 😂 kue pepe coklat (looks like the layered cake to but a lot more chewy and less cakey, i like to peel it off and eat it layer by layer, which you can’t really do with the other layered cake)
snack : risoles (especially if it’s with ham and mayo) or pastel, but i have no idea how to describe these sorry 😭
28. does your country have a lot of lakes, mountains, rivers? do you have favourites?
yes!! also a lot of seas, we’re an archipelago after all, though i havent really been to a lot because i live in the capital, buildings everywhere (boring), so my answer isnt really that valid 😂
lakes : i want to someday go to danau kelimutu, which is a group of three lakes, with different colors, it’s really pretty
mountains : i’ve only been to a few, and my favorite so far has been dieng, with its many craters, it’s spooky 😂
rivers : sadly i haven’t been to any pretty rivers…
in exchange imma answer with beaches! : okay this is more like island, but the closest pretty one to where i live is the kepulauan seribu (thousand isles complex?), and ive been to pulau tidung and it’s so pretty 🥰 and some of the smaller islands in the surrounding for day trips, but we stayed in pulau tidung, other pretty beaches are in bali but its already common knowledge

he sucks at cooking. he just doesn't know any recipes so he uses box instructions usually. at most he can make his ramen extra fancy with an egg or strips of meat (he doesn't think about veggies).
he loves to eat so he will eat like an entire box of Mac n cheese by himself. most commonly though he will just spend like $50+ on doordash making his own personal mukbang of like 3 burgers 2 chicken sandwiches and a load of fries. or enough fried rice to feed his entire squad.
i do hc him to have a belly :)c he's like bale in my mind with a strongman body
i keep thinking about cero saying graves would call him big boy. so cute. i think hed rly like having nicknames i think it helps him feel accepted esp if they are about how big he is.
I've said he's good with tech (and im p sure that's just canon tbh) BUT i do not think he likes when people ask him to fix their tech issues. he is looking at you so blankly and googling "tech repair" or "IT help [brand]" and putting his phone in your face to tell u to ask someone else.
i don't think hes ex-military bc i don't think the military ever appealed to him bc it's all about Rules and Dying for "your country" and he wouldn't care for. any of that. esp the rules i dont think he likes being told what to do with his entire life. he doesn't want to be in CHARGE in shadow company (esp not since he left in 2022, and his contract was a little bit different than others iirc) but he also doesn't want anyone interfering with his personality or personal life. he also just doesn't gaf about america he just likes the money bc hes a big spender
however he Does wish that he had air force/navy training bc he likes all the cool fighter planness and jettss and he wishes he could fly them.

interrailing! me and my uni friend have started planning it fr and there's so many places ive ALWAYS wanted to go (rome, paris, greek islands, venice, etc) that we're gonna be able to do in one go and im so so so excited bc ive wanted to interrail europe for YEARS i was supposed to go when i was 18 but covid happened and i was worried id missed my chance to do it but WE'RE MAKING PLANS!!

oooo ive got a couple. jacket potato w cheese and beans, egg fried rice, or fried chicken. im also Known for loving pringles like people get me them constantly bc it's My Thing

yes!!!! i used to have sooo many and while i only have a few left i still love them dearly and always pick them up if they fall over, esp bc my three Main Ones that i keep on the shelf right next to my bed all have direct ties to my friends (carlisle the build-a-bear i made w my uni friend who has a matching one, we're going to get them graduation robes when we finish our degree. little guy, the squishmallow boom sent me THREE YEARS AGO OMG. and ahuru the elephant i bought at the smithsonian - me, boom and ashla all got matching ones, and she's named after one of my fav characters ever from @nobodieshero-main's incredible original story)

sharing some of grandma's recipes 🩷 she's OUR grandma now. she tends to give simple recipes for easy bases - add whatever you'd like to them!
recipes:
- chicken noodle soup
- chicken salsa soup
- sweet potato curry
- gumbo
- how to make rice
- homemade bread. peasant, flat, and fried
CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP
- buy roasted chicken. place in pot with water filled about halfway up chicken. leave to boil for 40min-hour [good for walking away and doing things. boiling it makes it super easy to get the bones out. you can also just pick the meat you want off if you're in a hurry)
- pick out bones / add boneless meat to pot with water or broth from store (as much broth as you want)
- 1tb bouillon, bay leaf [i double this for stronger flavor]
- any seasonings you want. my personal favs are creole or yellow curry. parsley is delicious as well and discourages bad breath >:]
- veggies: sliced carrots, celery, chopped onions
- bring to a boil for cooking then turn down heat, leave for 10 min
- noodles! any that you want. grandma's favorite are egg noodles. cook until noodles are desired texture
great granny made this for my gma served on top of mashed potatoes
makes multiple servings! good for easy leftovers
CHICKEN SALSA SOUP
- saute / fry chopped onion in butter. add 1 pint water and 1.5 cup salsa
- 1 tsp cumin, 1 tsp chili powder, 1-2 tb bouillon, as much garlic as you want (i personally double this)
- when it starts boiling add 1-2 cups of corn (canned or frozen)
- add bite sized chicken. i always buy my chicken precooked bc i have anxiety about it LOL. cook for 5 minutes longer
serve with sour cream, chips, and cheese
SWEET POTATO CURRY
- fry 1 chopped onion and 1 chopped sweet potato together with butter
- add a little water (don't fully cover food) and cover to steam about 10 minutes
- buy bottle of red or green curry sauce. 3 tbs. or about half the bottle. curry paste or powder also works! use same amount and adjust as desired
- add 1 cup of water with 2 tsp bouillon
- i personally add some cooked shredded chicken and a bit of creole seasoning and parsley. not called for in recipe
- add coconut milk once potatos are fully cooked and soft
- low heat until desired temperature
served with rice and flat bread
COOPER FAMILY GUMBO
cook in a big pot
- 1 bag frozen okra. chopped or chop yourself. fry with small amount of oil until it stops being stringy. takes about 10 min depending on amount. add to pot after
- add chopped: onion, green pepper, celery (1 onion, 1 big pepper, 2 celery for base recipe. i do some spicy peppers as well. add more as desired)
- 1 24-32oz can of diced tomatoes
- 2tbs bouillion (i use veggie bouillion, meat kinds are good too) (grandma uses this for an easy roux replacement) (roux recipe: butter and flour in low to medium heated pan. mix until golden brown. add creole seasoning)
- about 1 qts of water (i personally love broth so i just fill until im satisfied) (i will also use 3 32oz containers of broth instead of water for flavor)
- season with parsley, 2 bay leaves, plenty of tonys creole seasoning (i also add curry powder, onion powder, garlic powder, and lemon black pepper) (creole is main soup seasoning for gumbo) (the brand is just Cooper Family preference)
- once veggies are soft add bite sized cooked chicken, sausage, shrimp (i don't usually include shrimp bc of texture. i use a cooked chicken from the store and just tear it up so it's stringy. creole or beef sausage is my favorite) (i recently found some dried shrimp at my store and added that, good replacement for texture issues)
serve over rice with bread. best breads are garlic french bread or flat bread. normal bread slices also work just fine
creole is a little spicy, so taste test for desired amount as you're adding
FOR RICE IF YOU DONT HAVE RICE COOKER:
- add 1 cup rice or more
- WASH! rinse rice in water, mix with hands, and drain multiple times until water is no longer milky colored (doesn't have to be 100% clear)
- fill water until it's a little above the rice. measure with finger, i usually do a little under the first knuckle
- cover pot and leave to cook on medium heat. if it starts to boil, immediately turn down heat to low.
- once all water is evaporated, add butter and salt! serve with whatever you'd like
for YELLOW rice add 1-2 tb butter and 1 tsp turmeric, throw in some fried onions if you're feeling fancy!
grandma liked adding 1-2 tb of ketchup and fried onions to plain cooked rice. said it gave it a great reddish color LMAO
HOMEMADE BREADS
PEASANT BREAD BASE RECIPE
- 2 cups of warm water
      - for rosemary bread add crushed rosemary at this part
      - add any seasonings you want or leave plain! either way is delicious
- 1 tbs yeast, 2 tbs sugar, 2 tbs salt
let rest until yeast is activated (looks sticky/foamy/expanded)
- add up to 4 cups of flour. mix each cup in as you pour, the dough will be sticky and can be mixed with a fork
- cover with cloth and leave it to rise. will double in size. i usually walked away to leave it for an hour, im not sure if it actually takes that long tho lmao
- preheat oven to 375
- get your baking bread bowl or pan and butter VERY well to prevent the dough from sticking. i tend to cover the dough and pan in butter. if you don't have an oven bread pan or whatever it's called (my gma called it a cereal bowl i DONT think that's correct hahahah), then a flat pan will work just fine! bowl is just for shape. gma divides bread into 2 loafs, i divide into rolls or flatten it for flatbread!
- cover again in rag and let dough rise a 2nd time before placing in oven
loaves take about 20 minutes, but just bake until bread is a golden brown :] grandma likes adding sesame seeds before putting bread in oven
recipe works for pretty much anything! pizza dough, loafs, rolls, flatbread
FLATBREAD
- follow peasant bread recipe up until the 1st rise of the dough
- butter or spray cookie sheet with oil, spread dough thin
- brush top with melted butter, sesame seeds, parsley, and parmesan cheese
- bake at 325 until golden brown
i personally add some sliced chery tomatoes, rosemary, cheese, and creole seasoning to top bread before placing in the oven. then more cheese directly after pulling it out.
FRY BREAD
- after 1st rise, divide and hand flatten dough into thin circles
- paint with melted butter and let rest for 5-10 minutes
- fill a pan about 1/3rd with oil, high or medium heat while dough is resting in butter
- cook in oil until crispy golden brown
delicious with curry or gumbo!

- i didn’t end up making the chorizo sweet potato pepper hash last week so that’s what i’m making for dinner tonight, usually w little sunny side up eggs nestled between the potato cubes
- i made brownies today w rice flour and the rest of my expensive dutch process cocoa i had leftover from my gf’s bday cake. they came out springy and chocolatey and mochi adjacent. i like them a lot :-)
- i spatchcocked and dry brined chicken and prepped some potatoes and swiss chard for tomorrow’s dinner when i roast the bird and cook the veg in the schmaltz. im such a sucker for a good roast chicken and i love having the leftover carcass for stock !
- i have so many veggies on my list rn bc i’m missing summer and it’s bountiful produce. when i grocery shopped i got a couple bunches of broccolini i want to roast w parmesan and lemon, persian cucumbers i want to smash and serve w chili crisp and fried shallots and vinegar, and some small squashes i want to bake in cream and top w breadcrumbs or something
- i have a focaccia dough proofing for the night to make a potato parmesan focaccia pizza situation
- i have a couple filets of cod i want to cook en papillote with saffron and shaved fennel and lemon for a tender flaky fish dinner bc im nothing if not a fish enjoyer

i laughed so much reading that wikipedia page because i actually use it a lot in my daily life and so does nearly everyone else! including the teachers and adults!! so irl you won't catch me speaking coherently like i do online lmao (if i even do). there's this word i learnt recently, jelak, which can refer to a dish that you can get sick of easily or after a few bites, like cheesecake. i like that word it's pretty useful
4. favourite dish specific for your country?
yayy i love this question!!! imma be real where im from is a very multiracial country, so a lot of our iconic dishes don't really originate from here but they're well-known and super common in hawker centres. my favourite ones.... hainanese chicken rice and hokkien mee and carrot cake and char kway teow and chee cheong fan....
fun fact! carrot cake here is not actually carrot cake, it's a savoury dish apparently called chai tow kway(?) but everyone just calls it carrot cake anyway lol. according to google, it's stir-fried radish cake in cubes served with egg and stuff. there's black and white and a mix of both! personally i like the mixed kind the most but that's probably because i like black and white equally. if you visit asia you should totally try it!!! anyway that's why when people mention carrot cake, this is the first dish i think of lol <- has never eaten actual Carrot Cake

i love cooking a big batch of meatballs to eat in sandwiches, over rice, or with cheese and veggies throughout the week. they’re also super convenient to pack my husband for lunch. i don’t love pasta too much but i’ll fuck up some meatballs any day.

if there is orange juice in my fridge im making this damn near daily (i always have tofu and soy sauce on hand - they’re essential like water). literally it’s too easy to make and so fucking good. orange juice, soy sauce, maple syrup, a splash of vinegar. you’re doing yourself an injustice if you don’t try this.

my favorite way to utilize seasonal vegetables is to chop them real small, oil/season them, and throw them in the air fryer until the toasty. then dump them over various dark greens with some popcorn chicken, a creamy dressing, and maybe some nuts or chopped apples and goat cheese. so filling, easy af way to get a variety of veg in one meal.

my husband wakes up for work at about 5 every morning, so i get up with him and make us breakfast. neither of us eat until much later but having it ready makes the morning go by so much smoother and having a guaranteed breakfast is a lifesaver. this is protein filled and always tasty. i just do eggs, tons of spinach, potatoes, sausage, and bell pepper. the key is to dice everything super small so every bite has everything! i don’t add cheese (the pic is from pinterest), i add sriracha to mine

i try to always have what i call a “breakfast sweet” (although they’re really midday snacks for us) on hand or else we get peckish and make poor snacking choices. our current faves are chocolate chip muffins and apple cinnamon muffins. everything from scratch, always!

Sure, they might be a little rough on the edges but they’re still loveable, well minus harry.. seriously, why does the dude feel the need to be a huge asshole all the time? It’s around 7pm by the time you Noah and Harry head out, the idiot fucked up his bike so you needed to get it fixed, you really only showed up so you could get some fresh air, of course you couldn’t leave on an empty stomach. Noah and Harry agreed on fried chicken.
Despite being American, Korean friend chicken has to be your favorite type of chicken, it’s absolutely heavenly— like damn! you were fond of Korean already. It’s hard not to love the country i mean look at the lights and the people, plus you were here with your friends— Noah, Owen .. and .. Harry
Harry wasn’t found of you either, he hated how stuck up you were— you were a damn goodie two shoes who just wouldn’t bend. You were always so nice to your competition and never backed down from a fight, ❪ which was almost endearing ❫ almost. But what the hell was he thinking? he has never, ever views in that light before so why now?
Harry’s signature scowl formed on his face, something about seeing a solem man eat away at some friend chicken was hilarious, a hearty chuckle escapes you and all he could do was scoff.
❛ Is there somethin’ funny? ❜ all you could do was smile and nod him off ❛ Your face. Your face is pretty damn funny❜ this elicits a small cackle from Noah, her teal hues widening in amusement, her laugh only eggs on the biker, making large strides towards your resting frame.

vic hi for the love of god hello! thank you (or sorry) for asking…
she’s a tiktoker who partakes in the “carnivore diet” wherein she only eats animal products and byproducts, so just meat and dairy. it’s like extreme keto in that she eats zero fruits or vegetables, but fat content seems to be valued over protein because she rarely eats poultry and generally sticks to red meat. it can cause weight loss due to the complete lack of carbs, but this is obviously not a healthy way to lose weight.
in courtney’s case, i believe she used to post regular baking content on tiktok, then she shifted at some point to what she called “carnivore-ish” where she ate some fruits and vegetables but tried to eat mostly meat/dairy (probably to lose weight). but now she maintains that she’s fully carnivore, to the point where she doesn’t even season her food (besides salt) because seasonings come from plants 😟
itscourtneyluna is an enigma to me. she seems like a troll at first glance because she’s clearly using people’s interest in bizarre food content on tiktok in her favor for rage clicks, but at the same time, she wholeheartedly endorses the alleged “health benefits” of eating a high saturated fat zero carb diet. she will respond to criticism saying everyone is sheeple for eating balanced diets, and that even doctors and nutritionists are unreliable because they were taught the wrong information.
she drinks coffee even though it comes from a plant, and gets upset when people point that out because she “should be allowed to enjoy things even if they’re not 100% carnivore” which like yes queen. absolutely. but you’re the one who led us to believe that a single pepper flake would kill you, so we’re just a little confused.
here are some of the recipes she posts (the ingredients listed are the only ones involved. no seasonings ever.) that tend to go viral because they’re so rage-inducing:
“chaffles” - eggs and shredded cheese melted in a waffle maker, typically used in place of a bun
“beef and butter bites” - ground beef and butter frozen into christmas themed molds
“pre workout” - a bite of kerrygold butter washed down with heavy cream (a direct quote)
“carnivore soup” - ground pork, beef broth, cream cheese, and salt
“carnivore cracker” - a slice of cheese melted in a mini waffle maker until it’s crunchy
“carnivore ice cream” - cream, egg, and salt poured into an ice cream maker
“carnivore pasta” - ground chicken mixed with eggs cut into small pieces, boiled in water, and fried to (allegedly) resemble gnocchi (her words) with a sauce made of butter, cream, and parmesan
“carnivore crispies cereal” - pork rinds with half and half poured over them and eaten in a bowl with a spoon
“carnivore candy” - melted brown butter frozen in candy molds
“carnivore crack” - melted brown butter with “bacon sprinkles” frozen on a sheet pan and broken into chunks as one would with candy bark
and listen. im autistic. i eat weird stuff sometimes. i think people should be able to eat whatever they want without having to answer to anyone. however.
it becomes an issue when you claim everyone should be eating that way, and spread misinformation that was just created to sell shit. this is part of the fascination for me; how can she participate and perpetuate something so blatantly incorrect?
