Does Alternative Medicine Have a Future?
by Dr.Harald Wiesendanger– Klartext What the mainstream media is hiding The more effective alternative medicine is, the more popular it is and the more likely it is to threaten its continued existence. Because their success endangers the profits of an overpowering opponent who can destroy them. Their humble future lies in the health economics niche where word of mouth leads – under the radar of…

Anti-technology people who insist they're not ableist crack me up. What about people who rely on machines to breathe, eat, keep their heart functioning, or otherwise stay alive? "Well not that technology, obviously!" Ok what about AAC users, people who use hearing aids, or otherwise use technology to interact with the world in ways they otherwise couldn't? "Not that technology, obviously." Okay, my mobile phone is my memory, my sense of time, my sense of direction when I get lost, my ability to contact someone when I need help. It is my personal freedom because without it I would need full time care and supervision. But yes, that technology, right?
I hate how technology is made and utilised under capitalism as much as the next guy, but to pretend that technology doesn't greatly improve the lives of countless people, or even allow them to continue being alive, is to be willfully ignorant to the existence of disabled people. A world without technology is a world where a lot of disabled people don't get to survive. Capitalism is the problem, not the technology. Technology can (and should) exist just fine without capitalism.

My brother was so desperate for a personality that he would’ve crossed any line anywhere he would’ve trafficked any child he would have killed a two or three year old little girl to be her I couldn’t of been over four or something in my dream was very disturbing and because I don’t trust Eddie no he doesn’t have children and I think that was the smartest thing he did is give his children up because he doesn’t need to ever cross that line and he knows that I will fuck him up if he does so there’s a really cool kind of connection to have with a person because he won’t stay alive but Mark won’t
It wasn’t that my brother wanted to get out of the shit he was in he has a job and all of that now all he says is you know will I make more money than you anyway maybe I just don’t ask for enough especially you know we’ve got somebody who believes in genocide and taking little babies organs and shit I guess Ashley and Mark both believe in that do you guys have baby cow hearts in your freezers both of you
Or do you guys have baby black hearts or baby Asian hearts in your freezer I will bet that Mark has Asian kidney in his freezer but he doesn’t realize that his kidneys are still salvageable actually we’re not gonna tell you what alcohol can do anymore are we kids I don’t think so I think that the Mark guys just don’t understand medicine something about the king of Saudi Arabia and war and miss treatment of American women maltreatment I apologize America is probably number one or two on that list OK that’s not true but it’s close enough
It was enough that there are some very very scary people visiting the United States of America right now with a lot more money than the president or anybody like that
Now the better medical schools where you actually learn the most information and how to cure diseases well let’s just say that I’m not worried about losing out on anything Ivy League I already know better

Take a deep breath, let go of what's out of your control, and trust that everything will work out in the end. It's easy to get caught up in worrying about the future, but remember that the only thing we can control is the present. Focus on today, and trust that the future will take care of itself.

Do we think Seven can feel all of her face and body?
The Borg know when things happen in the collective and can arguably feel them, but when an individual is severed from the Borg, that expansive collective consciousness is violently narrowed down to a pinpoint. We know Seven has pretty good proprioception because she agrees that her shoulder hurts when the EMH finds that her biradial clamp is off by 0.3 microns. Because of this, she arguably has a very good understanding of how things in her body feel. That said, she doesn't really complain about physical pains, and we really only see her struggle when things are emotionally difficult.
Since she had been in the collective since she was 6, she wouldn't necessarily know that certain sensations are not normal. If there were any issues that happened as a result of her assimilation, she wouldn't necessarily know they are unusual after she was severed because that's what she has always known.
So back to my original question: can she feel all of her face? Looking at the placement of her facial implants, they are both on the trigeminal nerve. The cheekbone implant is right around the root of the nerve, and the eyebrow piece sits right over another branch. Trigeminal neuralgia is crazy painful, but she could have trigeminal neuropathy and think it's completely normal because she doesn't have a typical baseline to compare it to. I imagine the Borg implants must interrupt some nerve functioning to ensure that the drones move as they are supposed to, and the nano probes would repair any damage that would affect their functioning. But the Borg would consider physical discomfort irrelevant, so relatively minor issues like neuralgia, pins and needles, or any other unusual sensations would not be considered an issue.

one issue with re-treading tos era trek that is perhaps minor but is very annoying to me personally is you get disconnects like having medical tech that can temporarily alter people at the genetic level to disguise them as aliens, but if you get fried by delta radiation there’s just no treatment that can mitigate any of the effects, and also hospice care is apparently still a horrifying nightmare even in this advanced utopian future. like pike’s prospects should not be this miserable. he should expecting a flying wheelchair at the bare minimum

Given that my post about why you are not obligated to blog about Current Events (whatever they are at any given time) is going around again, I'd like to say the same thing from a slightly different angle and state what you ARE obligated to do.
You are still not obligated to blog about ANY specific subject, no matter how serious, no matter how urgent, no matter how grave. You never will be. The impact of social media on real world atrocities has the potential to be great, but it is cumulative. No one is going to die in a ditch somewhere, barely uttering the tragic final words, "if only...if only...tumblr users wormhentaiafficionado and mothmanbutthole...posted about how sad they are...then maybe things would be different..." - nor are policymakers going to change their minds because some tweet has 749,845 cumulative likes and retweets instead of 750,000. Make no mistake, if you have the energy to be sharing these kinds of things, it can be good to do! We live in a society, it's always good to help where you can, even if all you can do is show public support for people who are hurting - but if you can't do that, for any reason, you're not obligated to. Period. End of.
What are you obligated to do?
1. Give people the benefit of the doubt. Social media accounts are not most people's entire lives. Just because someone isn't blogging about whatever tragedy is occurring does not mean they don't care. Sometimes it does mean that, sure, and that sucks - but not only are you not going to change that by yelling at them, sometimes it means they care too much. Sometimes it means they're closer to it than you assumed and need a moment to think about something else, anything else. Sometimes it means it's not safe for them to be blogging about it, be it due to abusive family potentially finding out, being at risk of getting fired and quite possibly dying of poverty sooner rather than later, or even taking very illegal direct action that they do not want to be linked to on record in even the vaguest possible way. Sometimes it means dealing with it is their day job and they're on the internet after a long and exhausting day of trying to make things better. You don't know. You'll never know unless they decide to tell you. No one owes you that explanation. You are obligated to make peace with that fact.
2. Slow the fuck down.
Listen. When bad things happen, from natural disasters, to manmade horrors beyond our comprehension, it's only normal to get scared and desperate to do something, anything about it. That heightened emotional state is very vulnerable, and because of that, there will always be people out there looking to take advantage of the chaos for ulterior motives - and no matter how good your intentions, and in fact no matter how right you are in your values and at the core of your strategy, you will never be immune to garbage-in-garbage-out. Misinformation can be deadly, even in the hands of someone who means well. You need to pause long enough to sort out the garbage. You need to learn to fight the impulse to trust every single post that tells you that your share/comment/etc. is URGENT and WILL mean the difference between life and death for someone, somewhere. Do your fact checks. Scan for dogwhistles before you end up passing around a post that implies [insert group that is marginalized in most of the English-speaking world but has hegemonic power in some other part of the world and is committing some atrocity there] is coming after you next if you stay silent. Vet charity and advice links before you accidentally send scared, desperate, and vulnerable people to a scammer - or worse, hand them over to a honeypot operation or give them a recipe for poisonous "medicine".
Or, to put it another way, you are obligated to make an attempt to stay informed enough to avoid making things materially worse. You are not obligated to doomblog. In fact, doomblogging can be antithetical to your obligation to not make things worse. Choosing neutrality in times of great tragedy and injustice is bad, yes, but you should immediately be wary of anyone who says that simply not blogging about a subject - let alone not sharing a specific post - is inherently "choosing neutrality".
So remember: breathe. Be careful out there. Mourn for the people that whatever atrocity has this or my other post circulating has taken from us or will take from us, and do your best to be kind to the people who are still alive - and remember that kindness includes using social media responsibly.

I’m reading Robin Wall Kimmerer’s Braiding Sweetgrass at the moment and wow, I’ve cried every chapter so far. The way she nurtures her deep generational pain and turns it into love and wisdom is just awe-inspiring. A lesson we could all learn from

Day 13/100 productivity challenge.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Good morning!!
Last night I studied Respiratory Physiology for 2 hours and it was worth it. Although I was very sleepy and tired due to the long trip home, I made it.
Today I'm going to study Histology in the morning and then I plan to have fun in the city. In the evening I will try to study some Pathology for an hour or so.
Tips of the day ✨✍🏽🪄
For histology I use flashcards with blank spaces for the microscopic images. It has been useful to me and I have trained my photographic memory.
For Physiology, which is a difficult subject for me, I try to reason absolutely everything and memorize only names of processes and words, new terms.
Let me know in the comments below what works for your study sessions!
Have a blessed, happy and productive day! 🫂🧠
