hi<3 if you can, can you do valeria and laswell with a gothic s/o? like someone who likes darker/morbid things and things like that! love your blog by the way! it’s definitely my favorite blog to come look at after a long ass day <333
Hey there! Sorry, but I couldn't really find too much on what counts as dark and morbid in the goth scene, so I wrote more general HCs, I hope that's alright still ^^;
Valeria and Laswell with a Gothic!S/O
Valeria: She’d most definitely be intrigued, but not too much. In all honesty, she doesn’t know too much about the subculture, she’s never really met a goth who was clearly one. However, if it makes you happy, that’s all that matters to her. While she won’t really know too many bands, or any at all, she’d be more than happy to listen to a few if you want her to. Yes, she won’t always have the time, but when she isn’t too busy she could put on some songs by Joy Division or The Cure, she really doesn’t mind. She can vibe to that sort of music, even if it isn’t her favorite. You’re more than welcome to discuss the literature with her, though. She’s probably never read a single gothic literature book, but she can buy you some. Anything from poetry to a regular novel, it’s quite alright. While she won’t be the best person to go to when it comes to discussing those, she’ll support you either way. However, something she could definitely enjoy would be going clothes shopping with you. The fashion is kind of nice, she has to admit, so she’d be more than happy to buy you whatever garments you desire. Will go out of her way to find something you might like as well. I can’t see her being too much into the history of goth culture, though. It’s nice that you are a goth, if you want to tell her about it, then you can and she’ll listen to you, but she likely doesn’t have the time to research everything by herself. Tell her about its roots and she can definitely appreciate you going against what’s mainstream and how it all came to be. She’s a very defiant and rebellious woman herself, so she definitely gets it.
Laswell: She knows so many people, I wouldn’t be surprised if she has worked with goths before. And even if she hasn’t directly, she’s likely seen quite a few walking around the city. She usually grows worried for them in summer since their attire is black, which makes it quite hot. However, she’d be very intrigued by you and your subculture. It’s something very near and dear to you, so she would put in the effort to learn about your history. Will give some classic bands a listen as well. She just really wants to have something to talk about with you. Besides, she gets to learn more about you. While she may not be the biggest fan of your interest in death, considering she’s surrounded by it more often than not, she’d be more than happy to indulge anything else it has to offer. Laswell spent a good chunk of life left alone with her thoughts, so she definitely knows a thing or two about melancholy, the state of the world and introspection. Maybe not in the same way you do, but she can definitely keep up in a conversation. She’s likely also unintentionally read some of the more popular gothic novels out there and liked them, so she’d make for a good discussion partner as well. While she doesn’t particularly understand the need to make your face completely white, she doesn’t mind. In fact, she thinks it looks quite cool, even if it’s not for her. However, the fashion in and of itself looks really good to her. Again, she wouldn’t want to wear it, but something about Victorian and Edwardian fashion has a certain something to it that she can’t quite place. Like Valeria, she’ll definitely buy you things she thinks you might like. Anything from a suit or a corset to a book about poetry. Beware, though, she will read the books before you can.

everybody loves a coffeeshop au pt. 3
[part 1] [part 2] [part 4] [read on ao3]
October 11th
"I have returned with spoils!" Eddie announced, carefully pulling the door of the tattoo parlor open as he balanced six drinks in his arms, using his chin to keep them from moving around too much. He was immediately rushed by the receptionist, Barb, who held the door open and took the top drink carrier from him to lighten the load. "Thanks, B."
"No problem," she smiled.
"One of those is yours," Eddie nodded as they set all the drinks on the front desk.
"The one with the teabag in it?"
"Oh, I would imagine," Eddie grabbed the large latte and moved it over to the other drink carrier to run everyone else their drinks.
"Ed-man! Thanks bro, sorry to make you do the caffeine run again," Argyle, his boss, yelled as Eddie made his rounds.
"Hey, it's no problem. I gotta do something while I'm here," Eddie dispersed the drinks to everyone, giving Argyle his weird fancy latte thing first.
He'd been officially working with the Three of Cups crew for all of nine and a half hours and he'd already done the coffee run twice. He was newer than their other apprentice, whom he had apparently relieved of this particular duty.
Yesterday it was whatever, he expected to be doing menial work before he actually got to learn or practice anything. Today was… different.
"Hey, Barb, question," Eddie said, sliding back up to the front desk and pulling his hot chocolate out of the carrier.
"Hm?" Barb hummed, sipping her drink.
"The baristas at the Waystation. You know any of them?"
"Not personally. Why?" Eddie leaned against the desk and sipped his hot chocolate. It tasted better yesterday. "Eddie, you're blushing."
"Hm? Am I?" Eddie felt his cheeks with the back of his hand. Sure enough, his face was very warm. Barb laughed.
"Is there a cute barista over there or something?" she giggled.
"Yeah… Or something." This time Eddie could feel his face flush.
"What's her name?"
"His name, um… Oh my god, I don't know. I didn't catch it."
"Well," Barb said, laughing hard. "I'm sure they'll send you back out tomorrow."
Eddie looked forward to the caffeine run every single day after that.
October 15th
"His name is Steve," Eddie said as Barb held the door open for him.
"Steve, huh? That's a pretty boring name for the alleged single prettiest man you've ever seen," Barb said, putting air quotes around the last part.
"God, he's so hot, B." They had started developing a regular dance with the coffee order, Eddie going around delivering drinks to their owners and coming back up to the desk to gossip with Barb for a minute. This time, she was on the phone when he got back up to the front.
"Yep, you are all confirmed. Ah huh. Yup, no problem. Mhm, bye." She hung up the phone and turned to Eddie, pushing her glasses up. "Okay, I'll bite. Describe him."
"I'll do you one better," Eddie smiled, digging his phone out of his pocket. He fiddled with it for a minute and passed it to her.
"Eddie,” she scolded, taking his phone. “You snuck a pic- oh my god."
"Right?"
"No. Oh my god. Eddie, do you know his last name?"
"Are you kidding? I barely know his first name."
"Fair. But I'm pretty sure this is Nancy's high school ex."
"You're fucking joking. No way."
"I promise you I would not lie about this. Hang on. Send me this picture, I'll ask her."
Eddie hadn't met Nancy yet, but he'd heard about her. She was Argyle's boyfriend's other partner, and she and Argyle were "the very best of bros" according to him. Barb was Nancy's… Something. Eddie wasn't sure, given the situation, if they were romantically involved or just long-time best friends, and he didn't feel like he was in a position to ask. Either way, it was this game of relationship telephone that had Barb working as the receptionist at Argyle's tattoo parlor.
He did as she asked and sent her the picture of Steve. It was a nice picture, Eddie had to admit. He wasn't a photographer by any means, but it was a clear side profile of Steve prepping espresso shots. It was probably the nicest picture he'd ever taken of anyone.
Barb, still staring at her phone, started tapping the desk to get his attention.
"I knew it! She says yes, that's Steve and yes, he's bisexual so go ahead and shoot your shot."
Eddie almost choked on his hot chocolate.
"Woah, B, I think you might both be jumping the gun there," he said, clearing his throat. Barb set her phone down and looked at him incredulously.
"Please, Eddie, you practically had hearts in your eyes when you came in."
"I- I did not," Eddie stuttered, face growing warmer with every passing second. Barb was just staring at him, one eyebrow cocked.
"Okay, Eddie, sure."
November 18th
"I literally have no idea what's happening." Eddie had done the coffee run basically every day for a month and every signal he got from Steve was contradictory to the last.
"Do tell," Barb asked. Nancy was standing behind the desk with her today, just visiting. Eddie had met both her and Jonathan a few times by this point, and god he was glad she was there today.
"I don't get it. He is always the one taking our order. And I keep thinking I catch him looking at me, but he never says anything! And I think he might be dating one of his coworkers? They're like, weirdly friendly with each other. But then he smiles at me like… I dunno. And sometimes he'll grab the door for me if they aren't busy… Nance. Level with me. What the fuck is he doing?"
"Well," Nancy laughed. "I'm pretty sure he isn't dating anybody right now, but I haven't actually talked to him myself in years so I could be wrong. If he's flirting with you, he's being very subtle… Maybe he's worried that you're straight! It's not like you go around waving a pride flag or anything."
Eddie thought for a minute, holding his cup to his lips but not actually drinking from it.
"I mean, okay, that's fair. What do I do? Barb, how can I make myself look more gay?"
Barb stared at him for a long moment, flicking her gaze over all of him that she could see from her side of the reception desk.
"Hang on," she said, getting up and sliding past Nancy, heading back to the break room. Eddie and Nancy shared a moment of confusion while Barb was gone. She came back a minute later and walked right up to Eddie, pinning something to his vest.
"Oh, yeah, that might do it," Nancy nodded.
"What? What did you just put on me?" Eddie pulled at his vest, looking for the new pin.
"Pronoun pin," Barb said, tapping on it. Sure enough, there was a small red button with He/Him in white lettering sitting amongst the rest of his collection.
"Why did you have this?" Eddie laughed.
"I volunteer at the Pride center at the college. I've got every pronoun you've ever heard of and probably some you haven't on a pin in my backpack."
"Huh. Alright."
"It might take a while for him to notice," Nancy warned. "If he really has been checking you out, maybe sooner rather than later, but be patient with him. He had a couple concussions in high school."
"A couple?"
"Yeah. Sports, and he got into a lot of fights."
"Lost a lot of fights," Barb corrected.
"I mean. I think he won… one or two, maybe, but yeah."
It took almost no time at all, in fact, for Steve to notice the pin. A few days later, the next time Eddie's coffee run overlapped with Steve's shift, he caught Steve's eyes flick down to the pins on his chest while he dropped his change in the tip jar. Eddie tried to flash him his sweetest smile, but he wasn't exactly a naturally charming guy. Nevertheless, even though Steve kept up his streak of not saying anything, he could barely keep his eyes off Eddie to the point that he nearly burned himself cleaning the steam wand. Eddie politely pretended he didn't just watch the whole thing happen.
December 3rd
"He talked to me," Eddie said, almost shaking with excitement but determined not to drop anything.
"Oh yeah?" Barb smiled as they went through the routine.
"Yeah! Is it supposed to snow today?"
"What?"
"I- Okay, I promise it's related, hang on." Eddie had never handed everyone their drinks so fast. "I don't know what version of Steve Harrington you guys knew in school, but this Steve is kind of a dork."
"You say with all the love in your heart, I'm sure," Barb smiled, leaning back in her chair as Eddie came around to stand behind the desk with her. "I just checked. Yes, it's supposed to snow, but not till tonight."
"Steve says sooner."
"What, does he dabble in meteorology or something now?" Barb chuckled.
"Nah, he just asked if it was snowing yet because I guess all the early bird old people with trick knees have been bitching all morning."
"He talked to you… About the weather?"
"Yeah, see? Dork! But it was like, a whole conversation, and he started it!"
“Alright, a win is a win I suppose,” Barb shrugged as the phone began to ring. Eddie took that as his cue to actually go do his job.
About half an hour later, Barb spun around in her chair and yelled at him to get his attention.
"What?" Eddie looked up at her. She smiled, pointing out the front window as fat snowflakes started lazily drifting down.
"Snowing," she added, in case he didn't get the message.
"Well, I'll be damned…"
After that, making small talk with Steve seemed easier. It was never anything serious, always "how's your day" and such, but they were talking. To Eddie, talking to Steve felt as natural as breathing. It never felt awkward or embarrassing. Something about him just drew Eddie in. Steve has that effect on people, Nancy assured him.
December 15th
"Dude, I swear on my mother, if you don't ask him out, I will do it for you."
Eddie was lying on Gareth's bedroom floor telling him for the hundredth time about his crush on his regular barista. Gareth was sitting on his bed, trying in vain to do homework.
"It's not that simp-"
"Oh, shut the fuck up with the it's not that simple crap! It really is that simple! Give him your number, say you wanna hang out!"
"Oh, and what, bring him back to my house so Wayne can scare him off?"
"I don't know, go see a movie or something! Jesus, Ed, it's like you've never dated anyone before."
"I've never been the one doing the asking, no!"
"Oh my god you're gonna give me an aneurysm."
December 30th, Morning
Okay. This was it. Today was the day. He had a plan. He was gonna give Steve his number and invite him to the party. Easy peasy. Nothing was going to stop him.
Except Steve not being there.
Well, shit.
"How'd it go?" Barb asked, already at the door.
"It didn't," Eddie grumbled.
"What do you mean?"
"He wasn't there."
"What? Why? He's normally there on-"
"Yeah, B, I know. He wasn't there."
"I wonder if he's sick?"
"He seemed fine yesterday… Oh, great, thanks Barb, now I'm worried something happened to him."
"Sorry," Barb gave him a sympathetic smile and sipped her drink.
Eddie did his best to combat any anxious thoughts that came up during his shift and go about his day as normal.
"Eddie!" Barb yelled, almost a moment too late as Steve walked past the shop about halfway through Eddie's shift.
When Eddie looked up, Steve was backtracking, looking in the window directly at him. He flashed Eddie a smile that made his heart skip and waved before going, presumably, to the Waystation.
"Argyle, can I-"
"Hit him with your best shot, lover boy," Argyle said, holding a thumbs up to him from across the room, not looking away from the client in his chair. Eddie bolted immediately, grabbing his coat out of the back and rushing out the door.
He stopped just out of view of the coffee shop to steady his breathing. This was it. It had to be.
Alright, Munson, go time.
And oh god he actually flirted a little bit on purpose. Success.
Except, no. He was halfway back to the Three of Cups when he realized he forgot what he originally went in for. Shit.
When he finally got back to the tattoo parlor, he pressed his back to the front door, counting his breaths. Barb raised her eyebrows at him. He couldn't help it, he broke out into a grin that made his cheeks hurt and nodded at her, their silent conversation probably confusing the hell out of the clients waiting in the lobby.
He checked his phone once he'd shed his coat in the break room and found a text from an unknown number. He texted back right away and saved the contact.

You can depend on me, Abe.
[ID: Abe sits down at a poker table with three other men. Sigmund sits opposite him, dealing cards. They both smoke cigars. /end] Abe: Now for a long night, Sigmund. Only important business could drag me out of here, tonight! Sigmund: You got your lucky streak again, Abe!

Stitches & Blankets (Joaquin Torres x Reader)
Tumblr media
SUMMARY ››››› You find Joaquin Torres after he tries to stop the bank robbery.
WORD COUNT ››››› 3,000-ish
WARNINGS ››››› language
A/N ››››› OK, why are there not more Torres fics? I'm legitimately confused about that. Also, I realized after writing half of this down, that a bank was robbed, so there were probably still police on the scene and the reader'd probably be speaking Swiss-German but uh...fan fiction.
Tumblr media
There was a body in the street, which was not what you expected to see coming out to your car.
You'd heard the wailing sirens and shouting and the thunderous footsteps--they're what kept you pressed against the side of the building for the past ten minutes, avoiding the chaos as much as possible. It wasn't fear that kept you there though, it was experience. You'd become used to the quick riots and little skirmishes for resources over the past few months. You knew it was better to stay out of the way, wait out the storm, and then go about your life. They became nothing more than minor nuisances. Bits of unrest that were there and then gone in the next instance. They weren't supposed to leave a body behind.
"Meine Fresse," you murmured, racing forward to the person lying supine on the stones, arms out to their sides, the white of their sneakers reflecting the street lights. As you drew closer, you saw it was a man--about your age with blood around his eye and nose and lip. For a brief second, you wondered if he'd been trampled, but he definitely would have looked worse for wear based on how many people you'd heard.
"Bist du okay?" Your voice was loud as you checked over the rest of his body. He didn't seem to have any other injury, and there wasn't any blood under his head, so you decided it was safe enough to gently shake him.
He didn't rouse.
So, instead you knelt your ear down to his lips, laying your hand flat on his chest. You felt your hand rise before you heard the slow intake of breath, and you rocked back onto your knees. He was breathing. He was alive.
Still, something gnawed at the back of your mind, urging your fingers up under his jaw, gently pressing into his neck. It was only then that you felt a surge of relief. His pulse was there, and it was strong. He was really alive.
And then you remembered that you should probably call 112.
All things considered, it was a quick phone call--the operator seemed to know your exact location and vaguely what had happened as you explained where you were and how you found him. Instead, most of the conversation was spent listening to their instructions to roll him into a recovery position and check for any signs of life-threatening injuries. When they told you that you could hang up because they were close, you did so and found the man blinking at you.
"Hoi," you greeted soothingly. "Wie heisst du?"
He groaned, attempting to roll onto his back once more. You reached out a hand stopping him, and he looked up at you confused.
"Comment t'appelles tu?" You attempted, hoping he wasn't an Italian or Romansch speaker. You hardly knew enough of either language to tell him you couldn't speak it.
He winced and lifted his hand to his face. "Shit."
English. Good.
"What's your name?" you asked, and his eyes seemed to focus on you once more, this time a spark of recognition or maybe just awareness lighting up behind them.
"Joaquin," he informed, and you released an arm, allowing him to finally roll onto his back like he wanted. He had a strong American accent, even through the gravelly voice of barely regained consciousness. "Did they get away?"
"Ähm," you looked around at the empty street. "Yes?" you guessed.
He let out a heavy sigh. "I'm gonna have to call some people."
"I think you should wait for the ambulance."
"Yeah," he agreed, the word breathy and pained. "That's probably a good idea."
"What happened?" you asked, and he raised his eyebrows, looking back at you.
"Flag Smashers."
"I didn't think the Flag Smashers hurt people."
"I'm just lucky, I guess," he answered, and you smiled, letting out a small laugh. He offered a small smile as well.
You could hear the siren now, the faint sound winding its way through the curving streets of Zürich and towards the two of you. Your head turned towards the sound, as if you could trace it back to the ambulance, and gauging the distance. "They should be close," you said, returning your attention to Joaquin.
"What's your name?" he asked, and the question surprised you. Then again, if the two of you were stuck waiting for an ambulance at nine o'clock on a Sunday night, maybe a bit of small talk shouldn't have been so surprising.
"Y/N," you answered, and he repeated it.
"You're very pretty, Y/N."
The laugh escaped you on instinct, although to call it a laugh might not be the best descriptor. It was more of a surprised noise, partially exhale and a tinge of amusement added through the slight smile at the corner of your mouth.
"Thank you," you said. "You are very pretty too."
And he was, underneath the dark red and rapidly purpling injuries. He had a strong jaw and kind eyes, and even the hint of a smile he'd given earlier had made something in your chest constrict.
"I don't feel so pretty," he responded, and this time your laugh was more of a laugh, and he reached up to feel at his face. You took hold of his hand, bringing it back down and trapping it in yours.
"Pretty enough for me to hold your hand," you joked, hoping to distract him from continuing to poke and prod and break all of the rules and instructions the EMTs had given over the phone.
"Well, I got that goin' for me, I guess," he said, letting his hand relax into yours.
Headlights bathed you in a warm yellow light as flashing blue lights bounced off the surrounding buildings, illuminating the rest of the street.
There were some shouts as the doors of the ambulance opened and people poured out, running towards you and Torres. The paramedic crowded around quickly, a blonde bearded man asking  quick questions in German.
"Er spricht Englisch," you explained, and he nodded, switching languages.
It became apparent as police officers pulled up and flooded out of their cars that you were no longer needed. You stood up, backing away and letting Joaquin's hand slip through yours.
"You're not going to stay and hold my hand?" Joaquin called out to you, and you let a smile curl across your lips. Around you, people were starting to come out onto the street, lured by the sounds of the sirens and lack of shouting and general ruckus. Your eyes fell back on Joaquin who was still looking up at you, even as a paramedic flashed a light into his face.
"Maybe he can hold your hand," you said, gesturing to a paramedic who had slid into your place. Joaquin gave half a smile as you turned and left him in the hands of the professionals.
Tumblr media
As you rounded the corner, arms full of blankets, the last person you expected to almost run into was Joaquin.
Part of the surprise was the kind that generally accompanied running into someone outside of the context you know them in. A larger part of the surprise was the fact that he was not in the hospital.
Instead, he stood before you, face swollen, bloodied and bruised, with the small white bandages of butterfly stitches above his right eye. He blinked at you, as if he was caught in the headlights.
"Pretty Joaquin," you said, surprise ringing through every part of your voice.
"Y/N."
At least his memory wasn't affected by whatever the Flag Smashers had done to him. His response time was also quicker than it had been two and a half hours ago, and he seemed all in all more present and less hazy. "What are you doing here?"
"I work here." Your own surprise and mild confusion had not quite worn off. "What are you doing here?"
For a variety of reasons, he was not the typical person who stumbled into the Zürich GRC Refugee Camp. He was both too young and too old and far more put together than a normal incomer. He didn't have that haunted look behind his eyes that made your heart wrench. He looked battered and bruised but ok.
"I need a place to stay."
Your eyes ran over his form, from his fluffy dark hair and banged up face to his bright white trainers. You lifted an eyebrow. "The hospital wouldn't take you?"
He shook his head with a sheepish grin. "It's just a broken orbital. Not much else they can do for it." Your eyebrows didn't lower and he gave half a laugh. "Trust me I'm as shocked as you are."
"I'll need you to fill out some paperwork."
He winced. "Any way that could wait until tomorrow? My head is killing me."
You stared intently at his face. Over the past four months of working at the GRC camp, you'd gotten good at reading people. You had an eye for knowing who was going to be trouble down the line and who would need some extra comfort and care. You knew who to push about their stories, and who to wait for--to be there as they slowly unraveled their tale.
So while there was a lot about pretty boy Joaquin that just didn't add up, you could see in his eyes that he could be trusted to stay the night. Just not here.
"You can't stay here without going through intake," you shook your head. "But if you really need a place to sleep, you can come with me."
"Really?" Joaquin asked, turning to follow you as you set back off towards your car, and you nodded.
"It's nothing special--just my couch. But I've been told it's very comfy."
Joaquin faltered a step, slowing down. "You're sure you want me coming and bloody-ing up your couch? I could just stay here and leave before--"
"I'll put down some papers," you said jokingly in an attempt to cut off the subject of him staying at the camp.
"Ok," he said, his voice distracted before there was a quick shuffle of footsteps and he caught back up with you. "Ok, thanks."
The two of you arrived at your car shortly thereafter, Joaquin moving to sit in the passenger seat as you dumped the blankets in the car. You came around to slip into the driver's seat, quickly backing out of the spot and setting off back home.
"So what's with all the blankets?" he asked, pulling his attention from the streets and buildings and back to you.
"We got a late donation tonight," you answered, flicking on your turn signal. "They needed someone here to help organize the drop off and then our washing machine broke, so I have to take work home with me." You smiled at the joke, but he just nodded, leaving you to wonder if maybe your English was off. The next few moments passed in quiet before you checked over at a traffic light to see if he was still awake. He was, but he looked dazed. Maybe he had been telling the truth about his head. You eyed his injuries which looked even worse in the red light. Like his entire right side of his face had been smashed.
"So what brought you to Switzerland?"
It wasn't the question you wanted to ask. You wanted to ask him what had happened with the Flag Smashers--why had they beaten him up so badly. But you weren't sure you were ready for that answer or if he'd even give it. So you asked a question you didn't care if he lied to you about.
"I was looking for someone," he said, and the light turned green, causing you to turn away and focus on your driving rather than him. Still the sentence seemed to end earlier than his thought as you could feel the weight of more words hovering between you. It was a familiar pressure in your ears and your chest, and you'd long grown accustomed to the discomfort.
Like many, Joaquin didn't give the thought words to escape on.
"A refugee?" you asked, and he wobbled his head.
"Yes and no. She survived the Snap."
"She?" A small feeling like a tight wire cord wound its way around your chest and a  warmth of embarrassment flooded the back of your neck. "Your sister? Your wife?"
"No," he shook his head. "My grandmother."
Out of the corner of your eye, you could see him look at you for the first time.
"What's her name?  If she came to the camp I should know her."
"Mariana Torres," he answered, and you ran through the array of faces you'd met. There was a Mariana Böschl , but she was old enough to be his mother, not his grandmother.
You shook your head slowly. "I can check the registry tomorrow, but I don't think she's with us."
"Thanks," Joaquin said, looking back out the window at the passing city. "Were you Blipped?"
"No," you shook your head, pulling into your designated parking spot by your apartment. "I was lucky." The two of you climbed out of the car, and he met you by the trunk, pulling the blankets out before you could reach for them.
"Thank you," you said.  And he gave a small grin.
"Thanks for letting me stay with you."
You gestured with your head up the stairs, heading to your third floor apartment.
Joaquin trailed behind you, arms laden with the blankets, waiting patiently as you stopped and opened the door. "Welcome to my home," you greeted, allowing him to enter before you. Your small apartment was dark, and you flicked on the light so that Joaquin could walk further inside without running into a wall or your table. "You can put the blankets by the couch, I'll wash them tomorrow," you instructed, and he did as you suggested before wandering over to the couch.
"I think I have an extra pillow in the closet," you said.
"Great," he thanked, dropping down onto the couch.
It took a few minutes to find the pillow and put a pillowcase on top of it. By the time you walked back out to the living room, the light was still on, and so were his shoes, but he was passed out. You walked over to the sleeping boy, placing the pillow down next to the couch in case he woke up and pulling the blanket over his body, your eyes once more tracing over his injuries.
You would have to speak to Karli about the violence.

Chapter Twenty-Four: Little Saint Lottie
October 27, 1943
“I’m worried about her, Betty.”
“I know, Gladys. I know.”
Lottie couldn’t remember the last time she’d gotten a full night’s rest. Days seemed to bleed into each other, with no slumber to distinguish today from tomorrow. It wasn’t long after arriving at Azzano that she realized that he wasn’t waiting for her. Bucky was gone. In his place, dozens of men awaited her arrival with sunken eyes and twitching lips that begged for relief, whether it be through a healing touch or a final blow to the head.
When the realization hit Lottie, there wasn’t much she could do besides throwing herself into her work; if she couldn’t help Bucky, the least she could do was help his brothers in arms. Although anxiety ate her up from the inside out, Lottie had confidence in Bucky’s abilities. He wouldn’t let himself die in some POW camp, he just wouldn’t. Because then who would take care of her and Steve? He’d fight tooth and nail to get back to them, she just knew it.
She threw herself into her work, rarely stopping long enough to have a proper conversation or a full meal; this bad habit of hers came to a halt, though, when she came upon a boisterous redhead in need of stitches. Lottie had been deep in thought while examining the gash above his forehead when the soldier cracked a grin and peered up at her without moving his head too much.
“Do I know you from somewhere?”
Lottie shook her head, “I’m afraid not, Private—” she glanced at his dog tags, “—O’Connor.”
“Ever done pinup? Maybe I know you from one of those cheesecakes we’ve got hanging up.” The man— more of a boy really, with his lanky frame and jovial smile —wiggled his eyebrows and ruined her diligent work of cleaning the blood from his wound.
The question left Lottie flustered; the idea of dozens of men gawking at her scantily clad figure left her feeling mortified, “Certainly not! I find that my talents are better suited for healing.”
O’Connor nodded and inspected her face carefully as she went to work on his gash once more. “I’ve got it!” Lottie nearly jumped away from him when he clapped his hands together, “You’re Little Saint Lottie, in the flesh!” The boy crowed his revelation, earning him glares from the other men recovering in the medic tent.
Lottie nearly dropped the needle that she’d been preparing to thread, “Excuse me?”
“Ah, it’s a funny story,” O’Connor chuckled, “Y’see, Sarge had this little photo he’d take everywhere. Always had it in his pocket, tucked in his helmet, you name it. Wouldn’t let the damn thing go. Anyway, we stole it out of his fatigues one day while he was cleaning up in some river ‘cause we wanted to see what the big deal was. Once we saw it was some dame—” Lottie shot him a look, “—lady, we started yanking his chain about it. He was just about as obsessed with that photo as my Ma is with her holy cards, so when he finally told us your name, we dubbed you ‘Little Saint Lottie,’ patron saint of the one hundred and seventh. That kinda pissed him off, but it’s not like you’re his girl, y’know? Though he sure acted like you were.”
Lottie was speechless. About halfway through his story, her mouth had dropped open and her hands had fallen to her lap. Here she was, looking dumb as an ox, while the soldier in front of her chuckled with childish glee.
“Me and the guys would even ask for your intercession whenever the chaplain came by to pray with us. Poor guy had no clue which saint we were talkin’ about. We tried to give it a place of honor in the tent but Sarge made us run laps when he found out we’d nicked it again.”
O’Connor nearly doubled over in laughter as he watched Lottie’s expression grow in horror. “Well as I’m sure Bucky— Sergeant Barnes has told you, I’m no saint. I’m just a nurse. Now hold still, unless you want these stitches to be more painful than they already are.” Before she could stop herself, the question came tumbling out of her mouth, “Speaking of Sergeant Barnes, do you know—” she fumbled with the needle as she made the first stitch, “—is he alright? Did you see him?” The soldier let out a hiss of pain, “Yeah, I got a glimpse of him while they were takin’ him away. He was battered but alright. There’s no man quite like Sarge, I know he’ll be back. He’d fight tooth and nail to get back. That’s what he said at least, ‘cause he always went on and on about how you needed him and all that. He sure talked about you an awful lot for a guy who hasn’t even asked you to go steady.”
Lottie’s breath hitched at the final comment, the mere idea of going steady with Bucky reducing her to a stuttering schoolgirl. She began to tie off his stitches, “We’ve been best friends for over a decade, it’s perfectly normal to care for each other deeply without bringing affection into it.”
O’Connor shrugged, which jostled her arm slightly, “I’ve never heard a guy talk about his best friend like that.”
Lottie didn’t respond. She gave his fully sutured wound one last glance, “Looks like you’re all set. Now don’t do anything stupid to get it infected.”
He gave her a crooked grin and wiggled his eyebrows, Lottie nearly scolded him but held her tongue, “As you wish, Saint Lottie.”
Lottie rolled her eyes and moved along to the next bed, where another soldier waited with a smile just as wide. It seemed that these men had become pleased as punch to know their patroness had come to grace them with her presence.
The USO’s visit to their camp took Lottie completely by surprise. She’d spent so much time floating from one medic tent to the next that she’d ended up completely out of the loop of the camp’s other goings-on. It wasn’t until she saw the fully-erected stage in the middle of camp that she realized. Her heart beat powerfully within her; with Steve here, she would be one step closer to finding Bucky. One step closer to bringing him home. “They say he’s gonna be here in a few hours,” Mary beamed, obviously giddy to see the Star-Spangled Man up close and in the flesh.
Lottie returned her smile, though it was weak. The weariness was starting to catch up to her, making her feel much older than a youthful twenty-three. Her stomach was in knots with anxiety; she needed to get to Steve as soon as possible.
Betty stood with them as they watched the hustle and bustle of preparations, “I’m pretty sure we’re the only ones looking forward to seeing Captain America. All these boys care about is seeing a bunch of girls dancing for them on stage, not some hunk of meat in a red, white, and blue suit.”
Nancy, who had just joined the conversation, scoffed, “It’s quite disappointing how little you think of these men and their patriotism.”
Gladys rolled her eyes, “They’re still men, Nancy. Scantily clad women or a guy singing about war bonds? They’re gonna prefer the women.”
Several hours later, Gladys was indeed proven right. Although he’d been driven off-stage with jeers and taunts, Lottie was waiting for him with a warm embrace.
“Hey, Lottie,” She could hear the smile in his voice, she felt its warm timbre as it surrounded her and reminded her of home.
“Good to see ya, Stevie.”
Steve pulled away from her and gazed around the camp, a grimace growing on his features, “Things don’t look to good around here.”
Lottie nodded, a twin grimace gracing her lips, “The hundred and seventh started out with two hundred men. Now they’ve only got fifty left. They’re barely holding on.”
Steve’s gaze shot to hers the moment she mentioned the one hundred and seventh, “Lottie that’s— this is Bucky’s—” The desperate look in his eyes made her own calm exterior begin to crack.
“Stevie, I know,” she whispered, a lump forming in her throat and tears pricking at her eyes, “I know, and I’m sorry. He’s not here. They— Those bastards took him, damn them!” For the first time since arriving at camp, Lottie cried. She sobbed and clung to Steve once more, feeling every bit like a scared little girl from days gone by.
Steve rested his hand against her back, “I’ll get him out, Lottie. He’s gotta be alive and I’ll get him out.”
She shook her head and wiped the hot tears from her cheeks, “No, Steve. You’re not going alone. I’m coming with you.”
“Lottie, you know I can’t put you in harm’s way like that—”
“Steve. I’m serious. What do you think I was doing that whole time I was with the SSR? Yes, we were making the serum, but they nearly trained us to death. I can shoot, I can use my knife. I can’t let you go without me.” Her voice was starting to crack, “We have to find Bucky together.”
There was silence between the two of them until Steve finally conceded, a wary gaze in his eyes, “Fine. But you need to be by my side the whole time.” Lottie nodded her chest warming with hope. “C’mon, we need to have a conversation with Colonel Philipps.”
The two of them jogged to his tent with their coats held above their heads to shield them from a sudden shower of rain. They entered the colonel’s tent, looking comical with their wet hair and heaving chests. Around them, soldiers and officials paced to and fro, examining maps or signing off various forms. If Lottie squinted, she could just barely make out the words. Letters of condolences; heartbreakingly clinical letters of regret for the losses of these sons, these brothers, these boys.
“Colonel Phillips,” Steve began, “Are you planning a rescue mission? For the surviving prisoners from the Battle of Azzano?”
The colonel looked back at him with a straight face, “Yeah, it’s called winning the war.”
Steve’s blond eyebrows furrowed, “But if you know where they are why not at least—”
“They’re thirty miles behind the lines. Through some of the most heavily fortified territory in Europe. We’d lose more men than we’d save, but I don’t expect you to understand that because you’re a chorus girl,” before Lottie could protest, he shot her a glance as well, “and you’re just a nurse.”
Steve’s gaze on Colonel Phillips was cool, “I think I understand just fine.”
The colonel pushed past them, “Well then understand it somewhere else. Now if I read the posters correctly, you’ve got someplace to be in thirty minutes.”
“Yes sir, I do.”
Steve grabbed Lottie’s hand and pulled her behind him, “C’mon, we’ve gotta get going. You go get changed.”
Lottie nodded; her medical uniform would impede this mission so she’d need to wear the fatigues that the government had finally issued to them. Her heart raced a mile a minute as she scrambled back to the nurse’s tent to change. She knew that Colonel Philipps would be terribly angry once he found out she’d shirked her night duties, but her loyalties to Bucky took precedence. The recovering soldiers were left in the capable hands of her peers. She swore as she nearly toppled over while yanking her boots on; it was rather hard to get dressed in such a hurry. By the time she was ready and had exited the tent, she was met with the somber faces of Agent Carter and Steve.
“Agent Carter, what are you doing?” For a moment, she feared that they’d already been caught, that the SSR was already putting an end to their mission.
The other woman pursed her lips, “I’m here to help.”
A mere half-hour later and they found themselves in the SSR’s plane, headed to Krausberg, where the POW camp was located. Howard Stark called out to them from the cockpit, “We should be able to drop you right at their doorstep.”
Fear was starting to creep into Lottie’s mind and burrowed itself deep within her gut. She heard the conversation continue all around her, but she was still processing the daunting mission before her. She and Steve up against Hydra. All alone. Even Bucky had struggled against them; he’d lost to them in the Battle of Azzano. Bucky. That’s what worried her most. It’s what filled her with the most fear. If she and Steve got through the Hydra camp safe and sound only to find that he was dead, Lottie wasn’t sure how she’d deal with it. She’d probably go mad, in all honesty. She’d end up in some institution, crying over lucky pennies and charcoal drawings while being molly-coddled by some woman in white. How tragic that would be.
Before her thoughts could become any darker, Lottie was jolted back to reality by the sound of bullets against metal. Steve grabbed his shield and her arm, urging her to join him by the plane’s exit.
Agent Carter shot up from her seat, “Get back here! We’re taking you all the way in!”
He turned to respond, “As soon as I’m clear, you turn this thing around and get the hell out of here!” “You can’t give me orders!”
A smile grew on his face, “The hell I can’t! I’m a captain!”
Steve shifted his goggles and nudged Lottie, “It’s go time. When you see me pull the chute out, you do the same.”
Lottie nodded with a quiet determination, and together, they jumped.
Entering the base was painstakingly quiet; once they’d snuck into a truck and eliminated the guards inside, Steve and Lottie were left to mouth words and offer silent support through unwavering gazes. Once they’d safely passed the gate of the base, they exited the truck and swiftly dealt with any opposition.
Steve led her across the base with caution, giving hand signals when it was safe to turn a corner and sprint across a patch of unobstructed space. The two of them traveled with the shadows, avoiding any spotlights that could catch them in the act. Lottie scarcely felt that she could breathe, it was as if one exhale would reveal their presence to the multitude of guards.
Once they entered the main building, the two of them found themselves in what seemed to be a factory. There were giant sheets of metal everywhere and huge bombs seemed to surround them. Amongst them all, Hydra soldiers transported other metal parts and containers of glowing blue material. That did not bode well with Lottie at all.
Lottie spotted some guards walking to a lower level, jangling keys in hand. “Steve, they might be guarding the prisoners.” Her whisper was barely audible, fear keeping her from speaking any louder.
“The blueprints said they were below the manufacturing level. C’mon.”
They followed the guards onto a walkway that had large circular grates that cut into the metal, each forming the ceiling of small cells that the poor prisoners had been separated into. Lottie and Steve knocked the guards out and stole their keys. The two dropped to the same level as the cells and began unlocking their doors.
One of the soldiers gazed at them through the bars of his cell, “Who are you supposed to be?”
Steve panted from stress, “I’m Captain America.” He gave Lottie an expectant look.
“I guess I’m Little Saint Lottie,” she responded somewhat sarcastically, referencing the retrospectively comical nickname that was developed by the one hundred and seventh.
Some of the men cracked grins, “So you’ve heard our prayers, huh?”
“Loud and clear. Now let’s get you out of here, yeah?”
She tried to ignore the growing horror inside of her upon the realization that none of these men had brilliant blue eyes. Not a dimpled chin in sight.
“Is there anybody else? I’m looking for a Sergeant James Barnes.” It seemed that the same horror was growing within Steve.
A man in a scarlet beret responded, his British accent prim and proper, “There’s an isolation ward in the factory, but no one’s ever come back from it.”
“Alright,” Steve nodded, “The tree line is northwest, 80 yards past the gate. Get out fast and give ‘em hell. We’ll meet you guys out in the clearing with anyone else we find.”
“Wait, you know what you’re doing?” “Yeah. I’ve knocked out Adolf Hitler over two hundred times.”
Lottie couldn’t help but stare at Steve in amazement. Gone was that awkward boy from Brooklyn. He was a man now, a leader who could do anything he put his mind to. He’d grown so much, not just physically, but in his character.
While the prisoners worked their way out of the base, Steve and Lottie began their search for the isolation wards. Lottie tried to ignore the sounds of explosions and men crying out from below them while they traveled across metal catwalks. She could only hope that the cries of pain were coming from Hydra soldiers.
After turning several corners, they found themselves in an old hallway, surrounded by brick on both sides. They hurried down the corridor out of desperation; they knew they were running out of time. Lottie stopped suddenly when she heard a groan. It was close. She drew her weapon and dragged Steve into the room, her heart stuttering and her palms slick with sweat.
“Sergeant. Three-two-five-five-seven…” That voice. Oh, how she knew that voice; she loved it so. Lottie heard it whenever she found the time to fall asleep. It crept into her sweetest dreams but tore her apart whenever it wiggled its way into her nightmares.
Bucky lay in front of them, strapped down to a table; his lips moved ever so slightly as he repeated the same phrase over and over again.
She rushed to his side alongside Steve and nearly let out a cry of happiness. Had the situation not been so dire, she would’ve descended upon him with a bone-crushing embrace and great big sobs of joy by that point.
Lottie whispered a quiet, “Bucky?” His eyes were glazed over and his mouth agape, “Is that— is that—”
“It’s us, Buck,” Steve nodded reassuringly as he tore at the straps across Bucky’s chest. Bucky looked up at him, taking his face in,
“Us?”
“Me and Lottie,” he nodded, tugging her closer so that the two of them could be in Bucky’s field of vision.
Tears welled up in her eyes as she looked at him, finally feeling whole again. She’d gotten her Brooklyn boys back. Bucky only looked back in confusion, “Little Lottie, she— she’s always been here. Always. Stayed with me the whole time.”
It was Lottie and Steve’s turn for confusion. Lottie brushed the hair back from his forehead to calm him down and ground him, “Bucky, I’ve been with the SSR this whole time. We’re here to rescue you.”
Steve nodded and dragged him off the table, “I thought you were dead.”
Bucky was obviously having a hard time processing everything that was happening, “I thought you were smaller.”
Lottie listened as the gunfire intensified, “Come on, we need to move.” Steve threw one of Bucky’s arms over his shoulder and the two fell into step behind her.
“What happened to you?” Bucky grunted out, pain etched into his voice.
“I joined the army.”
“Did it hurt?”
Steve was growing agitated, “A little.”
“Is it permanent?”
“So far.” Lottie huffed, “I’d sure hope so after all that effort I put into it.”
Bucky mustered out a befuddled, “Huh?”
“I helped to create the serum that made him like that.”
“So that’s why you left without saying a word.” Bucky’s tone was only slightly accusatory.
Lottie muttered a weak “Yeah.” They’d need to have a lengthier conversation once he wasn’t struggling to walk five yards.
As they crossed the catwalks to get towards the exit, the factory below them began to combust. Huge flames erupted from the metal contraptions and triggered explosions all around them. They hastily climbed the metal stairs to get to higher ground.
“Captain America, how exciting!” A thick German accent cut through the noise of explosions and gunfire. “I am a great fan of your films!” Before them stood two men; one was a short little fellow clad in a jacket and fedora. The other was tall and wore a distinguished Hydra uniform with its menacing crest emblazoned on his shoulder.
The taller of the two gave Captain America a once over as he strode across the catwalk that separated them, “So, Dr. Erskine managed it after all. Not exactly an improvement, but still, impressive.”
“You’ve got no idea,” Steve snarled and punched the man in the face. The swift blow caused a blotch of redness to appear near his eye and a sinking feeling of realization settled into Lottie’s stomach. This was Schmidt, the monster who used the serum prototype.
Before she could say anything, Schmidt struck back and left a dent in Steve’s shield, “Haven’t I?”
There was a brief scuffle before Schmidt backed off while the other man pulled a lever, pulling the catwalk apart. With a grin, Schmidt began pulling at the skin of his face and revealed fiery red muscle and tissue beneath, just as Lottie had seen when she first began experimenting with the formula. “You are deluded, Captain. You pretend to be a simple soldier, but in reality, you are just afraid to admit that we have left humanity behind. Unlike you, I embrace it proudly. Without fear!”
“Then how come you’re running?”
Steve never got an answer. Schmidt and the other man had already boarded an elevator and left them standing on the catwalk, nearly helpless.
Another explosion went off, cueing the trio to leave, “C’mon, let’s go. Up.” Lottie instructed the men to follow her, though she wasn’t too sure how to escape the factory. All she knew was that they needed to keep ascending the stairs.
When they reached the top of the stairs, they were faced with a metal beam that led to a catwalk with an exit. It was terrifyingly slim, with only enough room to place one foot in front of the other.
“Ladies first,” Bucky murmured, “but I’ll be right behind you.” Lottie felt sure of herself knowing that at least she wouldn’t have to cross on her own.
She took a tentative first step, testing how well it would hold her weight. Lottie tried not to look down at the fiery pit below while she carefully moved along the beam. It was a comfort to have Bucky behind her with his chest nearly pressed against her back as he followed her every step. Lottie had just scrambled over the railing of the catwalk when a jarring explosion shifted the beam’s position and sent it careening downwards. She gasped in horror as Bucky leaped to grab onto the catwalk.
“There’s gotta be a rope or something!”
Steve stared at the two of them from across the pit, “Just go! Get out of here!”
Bucky slammed his fist on the railing, desperation tearing at his voice, “No, not without you!”
“Steve, please! We can’t just leave you here!” Lottie pleaded. Steve couldn’t die, not like this.
With a look of determination, Steve backed up and made a running jump to clear the gap between the two catwalks. An explosion threatened to swallow him up, but he made it over safely, although a little worse for wear.
Lottie and Bucky could only stare in amazement. Steve nodded to them both, “Let’s get outta here.”
Several ladders and a whole lot of dodging later, the trio found themselves trudging towards the tree line.
It was silent amongst the three of them; painfully, dreadfully silent. She decided it was time to break the silence, “Bucky, I—”
“Look, Little Lottie, I know you’re sorry, alright? And I forgive you. Even though you lied to my face and left without saying goodbye, I had a whole lotta time to spend forgiving you.”
Now that the fear of being caught by Hydra soldiers had fully subsided, Lottie allowed herself to let out a sob of joy and nearly threw herself at Bucky. She almost apologized for the force of her embrace since it was likely to hurt a man who’d been captured by Hydra, but he didn’t show any sign of pain. She’d need to remember that for later.
“I missed you so much, Bucky. I really did,” Lottie nearly whimpered. Gosh, she sure sounded lovesick. “I missed you too, Little Lottie.” His embrace was sure and strong, and with it, a flood of memories came back to her. Nights on her fire escape. A birthday evening spent swing dancing. A lucky penny slipped into her hand. For the first time in months, Lottie finally felt whole. Her heart that had been splintered into shards of pain and hopelessness had finally begun to mend itself back together. While she found comfort in his arms and forgiveness, she knew there were still so many words left unsaid; words that he needed and deserved to hear.
“Yeah, I missed you guys too,” Steve muttered, obviously peeved that he was being left out of their moment.
“Aw, come on, Stevie,” Lottie grinned and pulled away from Bucky a little to allow Steve to join their hug.
“And if I remember correctly, Bucky, I think it’s actually Little Saint Lottie now,” she grinned. While she couldn’t see his face at the moment, she just knew it was turning a gorgeous shade of scarlet, based on the sputtering coming out of his mouth.

“Hey, girl!”
“Hey, what’s up, Leti?”
“Are you working?”
“Yeah, till four, why?”
“Don’ ask me how I did it, but I convinced the guys to go tomorrow to the beach. In San Diego”.
“Sounds good, but I’m not sure if I could go. I have a surgery waiting, and you know…”
“Yeah, your hands. Is it too long?”
“Maybe six or seven hours, not sure”.
“C'mon, mami! You said you don't work until next Thursday!”
Gilly's shouts make you laugh rubbing your eyes.
“Okay I'll try, I'll try. I promise”.
“We will go to Mission Bay. So if you want, we see you there!”
Hanging up the call and giving a last sip to your coffee, you throw the empty paper cup to the bin. Checking the hour on your phone, you know that it's going to be a long, long night. But the idea of spending some time with Bishops makes you tickle in your stomach. Coco introduced you to the crew almost a year ago, like a friend, and he stole your attention. At the first party you joined them, you were almost the whole dawn with him. Dancing, drinking, talking. He was more interesting and funny than you could think, and maybe you felt somekind of connection that you never felt before. So, yes. You would like to go with them, but you have to wait till waking up tomorrow to find out if your hands can handle a four hours trip driving.
Tumblr media
“Good morning, bella durmiente! How was the surgery?”.
“Hm… my hands are fucked”.
“So, it went well, we have to celebrate it”.
“Yeah, but… not sure if I can drive to San Diego”.
“Oh, c'mon, please… We're gonna stay here by night too. Coming back tomorrow, take a bus! I'm sure Bishop would b—”.
“Stop!” You say laughing loud to your phone over the bed, while you do some exercise with all your fingers to bring back some mobility.
“(Y/N), you know that it's an amazing opp— Angel already bought you a ticket. In one hour. Sending you by email, bye!”
Before you can complain about it, she has already hung up the call. You end up serving some coffee in a termo, before picking up your towel and some clean clothes, besides an external battery and some hygienic stuff. Bandaging your hands, over a thin layer of cortisone cream, you're ready to walk to the bus station of Santo Padre, ten minutes away from your house. At least, you have three hours of trip to rest a little more, falling asleep as soon as you sit down on your seat. So the next time you open your eyes, you're already in San Diego. Waiting for the other passengers to get out, closing and opening your hands once and again, you step out then. Carrying your bag in your right shoulder and your phone in the left hand, you wear the pair of sunglasses looking for Bishop.
“Eh, boxer”.
His hoarse voice calls your attention, finding him next to the entrance, resting against his motorbike. You can't help but draw a soft and tired smile on your lips, leading your steps towards him, raising both hands on air to show the man your cool white bandages with black stripes. The mexican receives you into his arms in a gentle and dearly hug, surrounding your lower back and your neck for some long seconds.
“The guys are waiting for us to have lunch”.
“Cool… Last time I ate was nine and it was dark”. You just say placing well on your bag, before setting on the helmet.
The drive doesn't take you more than ten minutes, grabbed to Bishop's abdomen and with your chin over his shoulder. You can see him smiling like a fool, knowing that he's delighted that you're going to join them. But mostly, because you are with him. The warm and soft breeze of San Diego makes you close your eyes, fully relaxed, focusing on the smell that floods your lungs, mixing the salty ocean's and Bishop's scent. Your arms surround his body somewhat tight, feeling one of his hands caressing your right thigh with his huge hands placed on and his thumb making the honors over your skin, bristling it without mercy. But much to your regret, the engine stops some short minutes before, standing up from the bike when you're able to do it.
“Give me your bag, querida. I'm going to be your nurse today”. He says, after keeping the helmet you used with the other.
“Qué caballeroso…” (What a gentleman). You tease him, as if normally he isn't.
“Just earning a beach-quickl—”.
“Fuck, Bishop!” You laugh, hitting his shoulder, regretting it immediately when a lash of pain crosses your palm.
“That's called karma”. He says walking backwards to the entrance, pointing you with a finger. “The women are always asking for men's sincerity, and when we give you… You're too violent to be this small, preciosa”.
“Pendejo”.
“YAY, YOU CAME!” Leti looks surprised, making you twist back your head confused.
“Sounds like if… I had another option”. You purr with your lips, before greeting the guys. “Tell me y—”.
“I did”. Taza just says, seeing you pout at him before hugging you. “I will give you a massage later”.
“Mi angelito de la guarda”. (My guardian angel). You can't help but sigh a little alleviated, knowing that he brought a cream he makes with weed oil, coco water and aloe vera.
Actually, it was a good idea to come to the beach, having so much fun in the lunch by seeing all the men more relaxed than in Santo Padre. Being normal people. A family enjoying two days off from all the problems and the dangers they're sinked in every damn day. Bishop was focused on you the whole time, serving your drink in the glass, cutting your food into pieces so you can have to do any effort (...). Everything under the sideways looks of the others. Sometimes you look like another couple with simple gestures, that both do delighted.
After having full enough your stomachs, the guys lead you to the beach where they left the umbrellas and the towels, placing yours next to Bishop's and sitting there after taking off your clothes, but on your black bikini. Unveiling your hands, you do your best to spread the sunscreen all over your body, until the mexican grabs the bottle from your fingers to sit behind you with a ‘lean forward’ on his lips. Feeling his cold hands because the cream on your back gives you a soft chill, curling your legs against your chest and resting your chin over them. Closing your eyes, focusing all your senses on every move he does, you try not to fall asleep. Starting by your shoulders and pressing your neck with both thumbs, his hands travel down your spine making sure he's helping you to get somewhat less tense, at the same time that puts well on the sunscreen.
When it's ready, he stands up on his feet to grab Taza's cream to help you with your hands. That time, he kneels in front of you, spreading it from your forearms to the tip of your fingers, so carefully and concentrated, that you can't help but look at him with a goofy smile until it's done.
“Thank you”. You just say.
“Anytime, querida”. He whispers, pulling a tuft of your hair behind your right ear, leaning towards you to kiss your cheek. “What do you want to do now?”
“I think I need twenty minutes more of sleep, but you can go with the guys to the water, if you want”. Shrugging your shoulders, you let your back fall down to the towel.
“I spend too much time with them, and I haven't seen you a single second for the last four days”. He chuckles lying by your side, straining an arm under your neck to put you closer to him. “Let me enjoy at least twenty minutes”.
His resigned sigh makes you laugh almost in silence, while his free hand gets placed on your back, leaving some ephemeral caresses from top to bottom. And you feel as if you were in paradise. You're practically drinking each other's breathings, with closed eyes and your nose touching Bishop's. Your fingers get tangled slightly in the short hair of the mexican, taking pleasure of the peace that it's surrounding you right now.
“I didn't want you to come”. He mutters from nowhere, not opening his eyes, not opening yours. With a calm tone of voice, a little sleepy.
“Why?”
“You were tired, your hands hurt. You need to rest, (Y/N)”.
“I'm resting now. And I couldn't ask for a better way to do it. I think I'm gonna complain about my hands often, so you will take care of me”.
Bishop chuckles drowsy, shaking his head just for a second.
“Anything else, su majestad?” (Your Majesty).
“A kiss”. Murmuring, you get somewhat comfy under his arms.
You're aware of the same desire to kiss you that he feels for you, as you feel, but on the other hand, you weren't expecting him to really do it. His lips gently press yours, before catching them among his. Traveling down one of your hands to the side of his neck, Bishop holds you closer, keeping a low pace of his mouth enjoying the taste and the touch of yours. Unconsciously and by inertia, your left right surrounds his waist. His fingers touring your thigh slowly, makes your first kiss a little better. Biting softly his lower lip, you steal him a heavy sigh, stretching your skin under his huge hand. He wants you closer, and you too. But for the moment, that's pretty enough.
“You should complain about your hands often”. He mumbles almost touching your lips with every syllable.
“I will”.
Sinking your face into his neck, you're trying to fall asleep focused on his breath, hearing a bunch of steps over the sand coming closer. Some whispers talking about you two, thinking that you're sleeping but you're actually trying not to laugh, feeling how Bishop gets a little tense because of the low comments.
“Don't forget I'm your fucking boss”. Bishop growls, freezing everyone's blood. And you can't help but break into laughter.
“Shit”. Coco soughs hiding behind Angel's back, because the oldest Reyes is the tallest of all.
“Nah, c'mon, Bish. Enjoy your d—”.
Before Angel can finish the sentence, the mexican hits his leg, making him fall down over Coco. A lot of cursing in spanish appears under the umbrellas, getting mixed with the loud laughs that make you sit up on your towel almost drowning. Watching them trying to get up only makes it better.
“Oh, man, I wish I could record it”. Gilly's laughs are over the others, with an arm on Creeper's left shoulder. “Damn, prez, repeat it, please…”
“Stop bothering him”. You say holding the angry man between your arms, before lying again on your towels.
“Pendejos mal paridos…” He barks mumbling.
“Don't listen to them”.
“I'm… going to fuck them up as soon as we retur—”.
“Obispo, stop”. You chuckle, leaning up slightly to kiss his cheek.
Finally, you are able to sleep for some minutes, while the guys share some beers playing cards, listening latin music in a low volumen to not continue annoying him. And even if you don't rest for more than twenty or thirty minutes, it's like you have been sleeping for the whole day, because of the comfort you feel under his grip and the caresses in your hair. Opening again your eyes, you raise up your head over his shoulders to find half of the crew on their towels, and the other half playing with a bouncy ball on the shore, just like kids. Taking the advantage that no one is looking, to avoid that they tease you again, you press your lips onto his. Slowly, calmly, with his arms hugging your body tightly as Bishop tucks his tongue in your mouth peacefully looking for yours. You feel some tickles in your stomach when they meet, as he feels more relaxed. El Presidente really is into you. He really has more feelings than he wants to admit, until he knows that you have the same sensation on your chest every time you are close to him. Now, he's seeing it. That maybe you two are having a good opportunity.
And you don't want to stop, drowning a slight gasp against his mouth when it gets a little intense that you expected, forgetting for a second where you are and who is surrounding you. Fucking the especial moment when you hear Coco saying that the hotel rooms are already booked, and that you can ocuppy yours whenever you want. Bishop is about to get up, when you stop him by a hand on his chest. You're going to take care of it this time. Shaking the sand on your body, you wear his sunglasses, walking towards the crew in the water. Coco is looking at you somewhat confused, while the president calls Taza, Tranq and Riz attention to enjoy the show. And before he can say anything else, or ask about what you are going to do seeing how you open, close and repeat the gesture with your right hand, you hit his temple with your palm. And it hurts a little, but the laugh is worth everything.
“Yo! Mami! What was that?!” He complains offended.
“A wave”. You just say, provoking that every laughter of your friends gets louder.
“Mami…” He pouts at you, rubbing that side of his face.
“Do you want a tsunami?”
He doesn't answer, while Leti starts to cough in tears.
“I imagined”. You add then, narrowing your eyes under the aviator sunglasses.
Coming back to the umbrellas, the eldest members clap at you while making them a feigned reverence.
Tumblr media
After having a deserved shower in the room you're going to share with Gabriela and Leti, you fall down over the bed waiting for them to get ready for some party time after dinner. And while they choose dresses, more makeup that you have never put on and high heels, you choose some comfy shorts, a white body with bare back and your sneakers. Of course, you're not in that mood after four horrible nights working. Before leaving the hotel, you apply a few more cream on your hands, feeling so much better and using clean bandages to cover them. Meeting the guys at the hall, you go out to find a place to have some dinner, ending up in the same restaurant you have been at noon. The food is pretty good, so you go to the secure one. But this time is a little different since then.
You can't avoid having your right hand on Bishop's nape, caressing his scalp while the table talks about everything and nothing at the same time, laughing and enjoying. Urging you to put your right leg over his left, hanging from it, he caresses your thigh a little assorted as if it was something normal, and natural on him. But it's not, and that makes that gesture more special. You couldn't ask for anything better, until he kisses your cheek without expecting to place his free arm over your shoulders, without caring about if Coco or Angel dares to make another of their occurrences. You two are very sure that you made them understand to not fuck up with Bishop in front of you, even if you find it funny.
Outside of the restaurant, after having a revitalizing dinner, the crew begin to propose different plans. But the mere fact of thinking in a crowded place, with loud music and a mix of smells, makes you yawn inevitably. Leti is killing you with her gaze.
“Yo! Bitch, don' you dare to tell me that you're goen' to sleep”.
“I did—”. Trying to excuse yourself, Bishop interrupts you.
“She doesn't. But I am an old man who needs his eight hours of sleep”.
“Then, good night, mummy”. She's about to take you off from his arms, while he turns around to give her his back.
“I need a nurse to take care of my disabilities”.
“C'mon, Bish! You've been hoarding her the whole day! And I invited her, not you!” She frowns while you laugh. “I hope at least you make her cum…”
“Leticia!” You shout, while Coco palms her nape.
“Mummies don' cum, you dumbass, they just… lie do—”.
“Angel, I swear I am going to break your legs next time”.
“Whatever, Tutankhamun. Enjoy your night”. Your friend rolls her eyes with a heavy sigh.
“We can come back next week, when I have holidays”. You say palming her forehead, making her laugh before leaving back to the hotel.
And you just get separated in it enough time to clean your teeth and grab the charger for your phone, going to his room after that. You're not nervous, but a little excited of having some time alone. Finally. Not to do anything specifically, but to enjoy him being de-stressed. While he's in the bathroom, you take off your clothes to wear the shirt he has left for you on the mattress. Smells like him and that it's driving you insane, crawling over the bed to fall close to the pillows, fighting against your tiredness to not fall asleep this soon.
Having your eyes closed, you feel the side next to yours sinking a little, until his strong arms find your body to wrap it against his chest after turning off the lights. Turning under his grip and intertwining your hands and your legs, Bishop rests his cheek on yours, being able to see part of the pacific ocean from the window in front of your eyes. It's magic. Pure magic.
“Listen…” He mutters getting somewhat comfy, having a deep breath his nose sinked into your neck. “Maybe I can't promise you a life that a normal man could give you, but I'm going to make it worth every second”.
“Bish”.
“Hm…?”
“Do you love me?”.
“Yes, I do, preciosa”.
“That's everything I need”. Turning just a little, you smirk softly at him. “I don't want a normal life. I want to spend it with you”.
“I hope you never regret these words”.
“I only could regret them because they aren't enough to express how I feel when you're close to me. When you touch me. When you pronounce my name”. Replying that, you lie down again under his grip, leaving a soft kiss on his right forearm. “I love you, Bishop. I couldn't regret it”.

Cherry wine || Single dad!Tsukishima
So hello! This is something i’ve been planning on posting for awhile now. Idk if i like it or not and Tsukishima might be a bit OOC since i haven’t been in the Haikyuu fandom for very long but oh well. Tomorrow i’ll try and post the masterlist for it and how many chapters it’ll have!
Tumblr media
-Prologue-
“I’m pregnant”
The silence that fell over the room became deafening, not a single sound except for the distant students outside of the dorm building chatting and laughing together. The fan in the corner of the room buzzed, rotating left and right and rustling some papers on the desk. The wind softly blew through his hair, making the heat more bearable than it was before but at that very moment his thoughts and gone completely blank.
The girl in front of him leaned onto the desk that was placed behind her and knitted her eyebrows together, not in anger but purely because she had been lost in thought. Her arms were crossed and she looked at the boy's feet, biting her bottom lip while doing so.
To say it was a shock, was simply too lightly. I mean, yes, the two of them hadn't exactly done much to prevent it that night so it had been quite the possibility but it had never crossed his mind. She was pregnant, something he did. The clumb of cells that was currently busy forming into a little human was because of him.
"Tsukishima"
Tsukishima's head snapped up and for a moment his eyes widened slightly. They held eye contact for a moment, neither of them breaking it. They were both, confused. Neither of them knowing what to do know and neither of them knowing what to say.
The boy adjusted his glasses and cleared his throat. He folded his hands together and fiddled around with them, something he unconciously did when he was nervous. "..Oh"
Its all he could think of at that moment. Tsukishima,  a man who always knew how to respond to whatever situation with either a logic answer or a cocky remark now felt silent. He was a rational person, but now it seemed that his brain short circuited.
The girl sighed, her eyes falling down to the ground once again. She moved one of her hands to rub over her face and then started biting her thumb nail. "I found out on Sunday. I..wanted to think about it myself a bit first. Hope you understand" She said, her voice trailing off.
Tsukishima nodded. "Of course."
Another silence.
There was one question he was dying to ask, of course, the most obvious one. He was a strong believer of the belief that it was her body and her choice and that he didn't have ANY saying in what she wanted to do, but he was still curious. At that moment he didn't even know which decision he wanted or preferred. Would it be bad if he asked? Or was it too soon?
"What do you- " "I-"
They both fell silent, not wanting to interrupt one another. Tsukishima excused himself and nodded towards her. "Sorry, go on".
The girl in front of her looked a little anxious and bit her lip before taking a deep breath and closing her eyes to calm her nerves. She breathed out and locked eyes with the boy standing in front of her. "I've thought about it..and decided what choice i wanted to make and i hope you can support me in that."
Tsukishima quickly nodded and waved his hand. "Your body your choice. Whatever decision you make i will respect it so do not rely on my approval" He said, something which made her worried expression relax. It felt as if there had bee a weight lifted off of her shoulders.
She nodded, letting her eyes roam around the room for a second trying to figure out how to put it into words.
"For the longest time i've planned out what i wanted to do with my life, with my future. Go to college, study to become an archeologist and become succesful and travel around..A baby can't fit into that plan, not yet."
Understandable. Tsukishima understood what she meant, for he too had a plan of what he wanted to do in the future. Work in a museum, it was something that he loved the idea of ever since he was a kid. She wanted to become something bigger, so of course a baby would only get in the way.
She cleared her throat and fiddled her hands. "I do, however, want to give it a chance of being able to live. For him or her to find out what joys life can gift to you and how wonderful the world can be..So i'm going to give them up for adop-"
"I'll raise them"
What.
The girl's eyes widened and she looked at Tsukishima in shock.
Tsukishima pushed himself off of the wall and looked at her for a second before taking a step closer to her. "I'll take responsibility and raise them."
What was he saying?
The girl blinked in surprise, her mouth slightly agape from the sudden response one that she had not expected in a million years. Tsukishima's eyebrows were slightly knitted, something which showed he was dear serious over this. "..please"
Why was he saying this?
The girl snapped out of her daze and ran her fingers through her hair, her other hand cupping her still flat stomach. "I-..Wh- Tsukishima..are you serious?" She asked in disbelieve, still taken aback from the reaction. "With all due respect, Tsukishima, but i really hope you understand i am not planning on raising this baby alongside you nor am i planning to hop in at a later age. I just-"
"I don't care for that. You won't have to be involved in any way, i'll make my own money, buy my own two bedroom apartment, raise my own kid. I'll work it out, if you want i'll cover half of all your medical bills" Tsukishima said while leaning back again, looking at her with his usual stoic expression again. Yet, his golden brown eyes held a mixture of confusion and fear. But that was something she would never be able to catch onto.
God what the fuck was he saying
The girl sighed and shook her head a little, trying to wrap her head around what was happening. "I mean..Medical bills won't be a problem, my family's wealthy enough to be able to cover that without a problem..I just..I thought you were passionate about this college course and wanting to succeed? Its not some kind of puppy you raise, can leave at home for the day and to come back at the end of the day and feed it and sometimes throw a stick around, Tsuki-"
"Do i look like an idiot to you?" Tsukishima said with narrowed eyebrows, tapping his finger on his other arm impatiently. Surely, he fooled around with her, but Tsukishima couldn't stand the way she thought she was better and smarter than him.
The girl rolled her eyes and sighed. "You know what i mean" She snapped back. "Its gonna be a big responsibility, its gonna get in the way of you making it big out there."
Once again, a silence fell over the dorm.
Tsukishima's thoughts were screaming at him. Telling him this decision was an impulsive one, how he had to think it through first and asking him over and over again what he was thinking. He knitted his eyebrows together and stared at the ground, slowly nodding.
"I know what i'm doing"
No he did not
The girl nodded and shrugged, her eyes glancing to the clock hanging on his wall. She looked back at Tsukishima and hummed, pushing herself off of the desk. "Well, okay then. I've got class in ten minutes, we'll discuss the details later on. Take care" She said, pushing herself off of the desk. Her hand reached out for Tsukishima's shoulder and gave it a small squeeze, something which made Tsukishima just the slightest bit uncomfortable.
He didn't even say anything, simply too caught up with the sea of a void that suddenly washed over him. It numbed all of his thoughts, all of his surroundings as the thumping of his own heartbeat echoed in his ear.
The click of his dorm room falling back into its lock flew past him, not even having noticed the girl had left. Tsukishima stood there for about 10 minutes until he was pulled back to the surface, something which made him fall back onto his bed. He put his elbows on his knees, his hands raking through his hair as he looked at his ground with slightly panicked eyes.
He let out a long sigh, his hand running over his face as he threw his head back and leaned it against the wall. It was already dark, the only people outside being the ones going to their night classes. It was cold, after all it was October and the weather hadn't been exactly the nicest out.
Tsukishima glanced out of his window, his eyes following the form of the girl who was just left his dorm and was now running outside to arrive at her class in time. His eyes were locked onto her until she had turned a corner, now out of sight.
What did he just agree to?
He let his eyes slowly slide down from his window to his bed, a place where his phone was resting. Without really thinking about it, he reached out for the phone, pressing a few buttons before bringing it up to his ear.
"..Tadashi? I..i fucked up"
Nine months felt a lot longer than it usually did. While a school year usually felt like it flew by rather quickly to Tsukishima, these past few months felt like as if there was a chain with a heavy ball chained to his ankles. Every minute, every second felt like it took forever.
As the trees lost their leaves, the snow covered the ground. As the snow melted away, the flowers started blooming again. As the flowers grew higher, the temperature did too. With every transmission, Tsukishima's feet grew heavier and heavier. It all lead up to that one moment. One moment that would change his life forever, a moment he'd remember till' the day he'd die.
As the seconds ticked by, they turned into minutes. As the small hand of the clock moved forward made a full circle, the hours started moving by. Slow, very slowly. Tsukishima lost sense of time, sitting in that chair waiting for someone to give him a sign and to inform him of the slightest bit of news. Anything.
His thoughts even stopped at some point. Surely he was panicking internally and the fact that his phone kept buzzing in his pocket, his family and Yamaguchi repeatedly asking him how it was going, didn't make it any better. Hell, the fact Yamaguchi managed to leak the information to his old teammates didn't soothen the buzz in his pockets at all. But he just stared at a wall.
The ticking of the clock, the water that dripped from the tap, the foot steps from the nurses, the distant screams of agony and the phone that rang every 15 minutes in the nurses office started to feel like a pattern. A never ending pattern that had repeated itself almost a million times already.
"Mr. Tsukishima?"
Fuck
Tsukishima's head snapped up and his eyes met the one of an older woman who was wearing a long blue cover up and a mask hanging next to the side of her head. She wore a smile on her face, a tired one, but a happy one. She had discarded the gloves she wore and Tsukishima noticed some light blood smears on the gown she was wearing.
"He's here"
He
In the past 9 months that had passed, Tsukishima had never thought that his feet could feel more heavier. But in that moment it felt as if Medusa herself had locked eyes with him and stared into his golden brown eyes, drinking in his beauty before stiffening his body and turning it into stone.
He didn't notice how his lanky long body had gotten up from the chair he had been sitting at for the past few hours and how he was now silently walking behind the doctor, following in her footsteps as she lead him to a room.
"The mother told me to inform you she didn't want to see your son and that she'd appreciate it if you stayed away for a little while" The nurse said while holding the door for him open.
His son
Tsukishima looked around the room, noticing how extremely empty and silent it was. The beds that were there were empty, waiting for a new patient to arrive. The blind were closed, but it let the slightest bit of light through cascading down onto to the little bin standing in the middle of it, surrounded by two other nurses that were busy with what was inside of it.
The two nurses looked up at him and smiled, one of them walking towards the exit of the room while the other reached out for the bundle of blankets inside of the little bed. She picked it up, stepping towards Tsukishima with a very kind small. One he didn't notice, for his eyes were only focused on the very small baby she held in her hands. "Meet your son" She said while holding the baby out for him, adjusting his hands just slightly so he'd make the baby feel comfortable.
He held out his hands, taking the bundle of blankets into his arms and immediately holding him close to his body. Tsukishima made sure to support his head, remembering all the things he read in a book his mother gifted him after having announced the news. He wouldn't dare to cause the baby any discomfort, it felt as if he was made out of the thinnest porcelain in the world.
"We'll give you a moment, we'll be next door if u need us" Tsukishima heard the older nurse say before the door shut behind her, leaving both him and his son alone in the room.
The baby slightly moved around in his blanket, one of his tiny arms poking through and stretching out towards Tsukishima's face before returning back into the comfort of his warm cocoon. A small yawn left the baby's mouth, a sight that made Tsukishima's eyes soften.
"Someone's pretty tired, huh? Nine months of sleep ain't enough for you, buddy?" He whispered, peering into the little eyes that were slowly opening up revealing a very familar pair of golden brown ones although his appeared to be just a bit more darker. It also didn't Tsukishima long before he noticed the dark blonde hairs poking out of his hat, ones that almost matched his own but just being a shade darker than his own.
He grinned and stroked the baby's cheek, taking in every detail of his face. "Aren't you just a sight for sore eyes, like i'm looking into a mirror." Tsukishima said with a short snicker.
In that very moment, Tsukishima felt his feet get lighter. The heavy chain on his feet he carried around for months that got heavier and heavier broke, just by the single stare the boy had on him. He didn't care anymore, about what he was gonna do in the future. He didn't care about if he'd still be able to finish college or if he was gonna be able to pull through.
Every thing he did, was gonna be for him. Every decision he made, was gonna be with him in the back of his mind. Every thing decent nice thing he did, he did hoping he could be somewhat proud of his old man.
And so, from 7 years from that moment, on Tsukishima was going to have a succesful career. One he had achieved after graduating from college, something he couldn't of have done without the motivation he had after his son was born and he was going to make sure his son was always first with whatever he did.
"Welcome to the world, Kaoru"

Half a Heart
An OH alternate universe where Casey Valentine got into Mass Kenmore Hospital's resident program instead, but she ends up meeting Ethan Ramsey anyway.
Pairing: Ethan Ramsey X Casey Valentine (MC)
Chapter 1
Tumblr media
Summary: Casey runs into a car crash on her way to her apartment less than a day before her first shift as Mass Kenmore resident.
"A resident. At Mass Kenmore. I actually start my shift in a few hours." She says still not sure of how to continue speaking without stuttering.
"Oh, that's nice, I guess." Ethan says and hangs the chart at the end of the bed. "I'm gonna check on other patients. You can stay here as long as you want."
Casey nods at this and smiles. "Thanks, Dr. Ramsey."
"You're welcome." Ethan stops by the door and faced her again. "You did well. Be confident next time, Rookie."

"Carl, we seriously have to go now, I'm running late!" Casey stumbles upon their porch as she hastily puts her boots on.
Tomorrow is her first day as a resident, and there's only one flight scheduled for Boston today. Missing it, means not being able to attend her first day. That's why she really don't want to be late. Somehow, her brother does not feel her urgency though.
"You still have a couple of hours away from your flight." He says with a straught face as he walks past her, entering the car and opening the engine. Casey enters the car immediately, closing the door off with a bang. Carl laughs at this. "You need to stop being so nervous. You'll make it, and you'll enter Mass Kenmore head up high tomorrow. You'll do great."
Casey just snorts, rolling her eyes, "Well, thanks for the vouch of confidence but the plane won't wait."
They both shared a laugh as the car starts zooming through the highway.
***
It was a seven-hour flight, but it went by fast. She didn't even know they were landing, only realizing it once they actually did. As soon as she got off the plane, she yawns and stretches. Looking around, the thought finally sinks in.
She is indeed in Boston. Alone and about to spend residency in one of the city's most promising hospital. She wasn't sure if she is ready for this, but standing there right now at the Boston Logan International made her realize one thing. It's now or never and the only thing she wouldn't be able to accept is failure. She smiles to herself capturing a picture to send to her family before getting an uber.
It wasn't long before a black sedan stops in front of her. She immediately puts her bags inside and steps inside the car, giving her apartment address to the driver before she eases back into her seat.
Boston, I hope you're ready for me.
***
The drive was supposed to be a short one, considering that her apartment was just minutes away from both the airport and Mass Kenmore. However, her car stops in the highway, just a short distance away from what seemed to be a crash. She immediately got out of her car and walks towards the scene being cleared by paramedics. She stares out in shock.
Sure, they were warned about things like this before, but even during her internship, she never experienced something like this. She scanned the area assessing how bad the situation is. Two long school busses are completely toppled over, and with only a couple of paramedics out, she's sure they aren't gonna be finished anytime soon.
She sighs, running to the triage tent where she saw a paramedic furiously going through materials.
"Are there any doctors present yet?" She asked, the man just looked at her for a brief moment, continuing what he had been doing as he answered her question.
"None. They're on their way though."
She nods as she moves out of the tent again, scanning the area. She saw a little boy not too far away, desperately trying to move his fingers. She immediately runs to where he is.
The kid is stuck in a limbo, two pieces of metal are piercing him, one on the chest and on the abdomen.
"Code red! Someone get in here!" She shouted waiting for a paramedic. One of the EMTs run to her direction pulling a gurney along with him. Another paramedic helps to remove the metal from the boy, slowly lifting it up. The EMT carried the boy carefully into the gurney. Casey follows suit, since the boy had his hand wrapped on her finger, looking at her with tears in his eyes. "You're gonna be fine."
They rode the ambulance and starts making their way to the hospital. The EMT had attached an EKG on the child.
She leans back on the seat, sending a quick text to her uber asking him to drop her things at her apartment. Then she watched the kid closely and noticed how his breathing became rapid, his jugular vein distended.
"How many minutes before the nearest hospital?"
"Edenbrook is atleat 10 minutes away."
"He's tamponading, i'm afraid we can't wait that much." She bites her lip, unsure of what to do. She's an internal medicine resident, performing anything on the boy might cause her license. However, if she does nothing, he'll have no chance at all. "I need a needle and a catheter, I'm gonna do a pericardiocentesis."
"Are you allowed to do this?"
"Do you want this kid saved?"
The EMT did not speak again, instead he handed her the needle. Which she immediately took.
"We don't have an ultrasound, you're gonna have to go in blind." Casey nods at this, shifting her gaze into the young boy's chest.
"Tell me if there's even the slightest ST elevation."
Here's to praying it'll all goes well.

It felt like the longest ride. The pericardiocentesis went smoothly, the kid's breathing seemed to normalize after she did it. Pericardial fluid is still draining when they arrived at the hospital. The kid had held her hand again after she finished doing it.
I have to stop being attached to people this fast.
She shakes her head as the doors opened, they were immediately greeted by a couple of hospital interns.
"Carter Thompson, a nine-year-old male, with multiple metal puncture wounds obtained from the bus crash." The EMT nods at Casey hoping she'd explain the situation further.
"His BP is 100 over 80, he went under a cardiac tamponade on the way so I had to perform an emergency pericardiocentesis. One of his arms looks obviously fractured."
"Who are you?" One of the residents looked at her, confused.
Right. Who am I. A kid is dying, Karen.
"I'm Casey Valentine. I was on my way when I saw the crash." She said. The interns just nod despite the still confused faces. She watched as they pull the gurney away, walking towards the hospital.
"I think you've made quite the call." The EMT says suddenly.
"I hope so." She smiled at him. "By the way, I'm Casey. I guess you've already heard earlier. I believe I haven't gotten your name, though."
"I'm Rafael."
"Nice name." She says as he went inside the ambulance to fix the equipments inside, letting another EMT replace the equipments taken earlier. "I think I'm gonna head inside to check on him."
"I think you should." Rafael nods and offers his hands. Casey takes and shakes it. "It was nice meeting you."
"You, too. Looking forward to see you again, soon." With that she enters the hospital.
***
She was waiting for an update for a couple of hours. She sat on the lobby checking in on her work groupchat every once in a while. She's tired from the flight, and the fiasco earlier, yet she can't find herself leaving. She would just like to make sure the boy is okay.
"Is there anyone here who knows Carter Thompson?" She sat still, waiting for someone to speak. A few seconds after, no one did. So she stands instead and approaches the nurse.
"I was the one who took him in earlier." She says. The nurse nods leading her into a room where a doctor stands, busy writing on a chart while Carter lies on the bed, still unconscious.
"Dr. Ramsey, his guardians aren't here." The nurse said the moment they got inside the room.
"We're gonna have to wait for them then."
"There's someone who is waiting for an update on him though."
Casey shifts uncomfortably as the attending looks up from his charts, his eyes landing on her.
"Who are you?" He asked, voice stern. Casey couldn't help but stare.
How is this hospital filled with good-looking people?
She clears her throat when she noticed that the man still looks at her with a straight face.
"I brought him in earlier."
"Oh, you performed the pericardiocentesis." He says and puts the chart down, turning to face her. "A good call, I must say. He is doing fine now."
Casey looks at him expectantly.
"I'm afraid I can't tell you anything more."
Right. Confidentiality protocols.
Nodding, she speaks. "I just want to make sure he's alright. I'm not sure if I've done the procedure right earlier."
"You're a rookie?" Ethan is not one for small talks yet he found himself wanting to have a small conversation with the woman that is standing before him.
"A resident. At Mass Kenmore. I actually start my shift in a few hours." She says still not sure of how to continue speaking without stuttering.
Casey what did your brother tell you about simping?
"Oh, that's nice, I guess." Ethan says and hangs the chart at the end of the bed. "I'm gonna check on other patients. You can stay here as long as you want."
Casey nods at this and smiles. "Thanks, Dr. Ramsey."
"You're welcome." Ethan stops by the door and faced her again. "You did well. Be confident next time, Rookie." He says as he turns to leave. And then he walked away, leaving Casey with a big smile on her face.

Jim’s Best Friend
Part Nine - Stamford Bound
Tumblr media
Word Count: 2066
Author’s Note: I decided that Jim and Y/N need a tradition. So, have a nice little chapter with fabricated backstory!
WARNING: none.
April, 2006.
"Am I proud of myself?" Jim repeated the question, a smile erupting onto his face. "Honestly, kinda. Nice knowing I made Patrick and Y/N happen, and even though it's only been two months... I feel good about it." He looked to the producer.
"Oh... You meant about the whole Stamford thing..." Jim's face fell. "I, uh, yeah... It's a step up isn't it? Not like I have reason to stay here anyway."
Ever since January, Jim had been doing whatever he could to forget about his feelings for Pam: he booked a trip to Australia, he interviewed for the Stamford job, he had even gone out on a few double dates with you and Patrick. But, seeing both of his best friends so happy with their relationships and jobs, he couldn't help but feel left out of the loop. He had even complained to HR about Pam planning her wedding in the office, though the two patched things up quite quickly.
Both you and Pam had been in full blown wedding mode, and as her in-office bridesmaid, she asked at the end of February, you were helping with Save the Dates, dress colours, flower arrangements, everything. And you enjoyed it, being swept up in the whirlwind of love that filled the air.
You and Patrick had been dating as official boyfriend and girlfriend for about a month and a half, and you couldn't remember a relationship that made you happier. You even moved The Notebook from your handbag into a drawer in your apartment, since you were fully commited to an exclusive relationship now. Poker at Jim's was the best thing that had happened to you in a while, and the whole office knew it.
You were even more bubbly than the bride-to-be, managing to keep a smile on your face through all of Dwight's bullshit, and you were making more sales than ever before. And despite you and Patrick deciding to take things slow, more for your sake than anything, the bi-weekly date nights had added colour and purpose into life again. You hadn't felt so good in a relationship, and in general, for years.
As you finished up on another big sale, an email pinged up on your screen from Jim. You glanced over, but he was pretending to be busy so that Dwight wouldn't bother him, and you instead focused on the email.
Do you think I could talk to you before the casino tomorrow? In private? Need your advice on something. - J xx
You pulled out your keyboard and quickly began typing back, sending the message over quickly before your phone rang again. Jim opened the reply email as soon as he received it, scanning over the computer screen.
Of course, why don't we go to the park after work? Just us two. Get hot dogs for dinner, my treat? - Y/N/N xx
Jim smiled at the message, trying to remember the last time you had both gone for a Hot Dog Date, or HDD. It would have had to be before you went to Spain the year before. It first occurred the year Jim arrived at the office, you had only been in sales for a few months yourself, promoted from the warehouse. It was a Friday, and you were complaining about having to go shopping straight after work. Pam was taking a sick day, and Jim offered to buy you dinner. It wasn't a date or anything, and when you both decided that hot dogs couldn't be topped, a tradition begun.
Anytime either of you were too stressed or tired or simply needing a chat, a HDD took place. A walk in the nearby park, followed by Hank's Hotdogs on your favourite park bench overlooking the pond, and then the pair of you just talked. For hours. The only way you left that bench was when the rain came down too hard for your umbrella to bear, or the night enveloped you in a cold that threatened catching the flu. That first time, Jim told you about college, about feeling stuck at Dunder Mifflin, about not knowing what to do with his life, and you shared the real reasons you never ended up in college: how you started working full time in the warehouse when your mom got sick, how Michael took you under his wing and got you into the sales position.
A thousand times yes.
He responded, and the pair of you got back to work, only stopping for coffee breaks with Pam and another one of Michael's meetings.
"So..." Jim started as you sat down beside him on your bench, handing him a hot dog and setting down two cans of soda on the bench between you. "How's Patrick?" He asked, and you sat back.
"Not a chance, Halpert. You called for the HDD, you share first. Them's the rules." You said, biting into your hotdog with enthusiasm. You had been eating healthy with Patrick, and as much as you loved the whole 'eat good, feel good' thing, you missed junk food. He sighed, and looked out at the pond, his eyes following the ducks that swam around for a few minutes, chewing on his hot dog as he thought. You stayed quiet, letting him think through it all, he usually did this. Sometimes, it would be twenty minutes before either of you spoke, but the silence was warm and relaxed. There was no expectation.
"I think I'm going to transfer to the Stamford branch." Jim said finally, and you looked over at him. Before you could ask, he continued. "There's an opening for Assistant Regional Manager, the money's better... It's only a few hours drive away. And I already interviewed..."
"So the other day, when you were at a doctor's appointment..." You trailed off, and Jim nodded.
"Dwight gave me the idea, if you could believe it... And I need to go somewhere new Y/N. It's not like I'll move up in Scranton... Not like I'll move on." He sighed out, and took the last bite of his hot dog, washing it down with some grape soda.
"I..." You stopped, taking a sip of your own beverage. "I get it. And while Michael's speech on the boat was motivational, it wasn't exactly realistic." You shrugged, leaning forward on your knees. "Pam loves you, but Roy is her fiancé. She loves him more."
"You... You heard what Michael said?" Jim asked, and you looked over with a smile.
"Yeah... Came looking for him, found you both deep in the throws of success speeches." You giggled, and Jim smiled back a little. "Can't believe he thought we would get together." You added, and Jim nodded.
"Could you imagine? The anarchy would be neverending." He chuckled, and you were glad you could cheer him up a little. It was shit, being in a situation where no-one was wrong. Roy was good to Pam, Pam was a wonderful woman, and Jim couldn't help being in love with her. He sat up straight, and stood up, offering you a hand to get up. You took it, rising to your feet and looking up at him with a raised eyebrow. "So, what about you?" Jim asked, the pair of you beginning a stroll around the pond, the lamps overhead slowly turning on as the sun set, painting the rolling clouds in colour.
"I think I'm in love." You said decidedly, and Jim stopped in place.
"Really?" He asked, his eyes lighting up with joy, and you let out a soft laugh.
"Oh, it's too early to say anything but... I don't know, Patrick has agreed to take things slower than he's used to, and he just... He makes me happy?" You went pink. To think that only months ago, you were still with Brian. Jim pulled you into a hug, picking you up and spinning you round. You squeaked in response, the pair of you sharing a laugh as he put you down.
"You deserve it, Y/N. I expect to be you maid of honour." He teased you a litte, and you elbowed his side playfully.
"Don't get too ahead of yourself. I just, I'd like it to last." you shrugged, continuing to walk.
"I'm glad he's over Jennifer." Jim made the offhand comment after a few minutes of strolling, and you glanced over.
"Jennifer as in Jennifer Young?" You asked, and Jim nodded, frowning when you did.
"What's up?"
"He's out with her tonight... Some other friends from work too, of course. I just didn't realise she was the ex girlfriend." You said slowly. Patrick had talked about her an awful lot during the last two months, but you just thought she was a friend to him like Jim was to you.
"Oh, I wouldn't worry about it Y/N. They ended in January, amicably. Maybe they just lost the romantic spark, cut it off?" Jim suggested, and you nodded in agreement. There was never any point in overthinking friendships, it would only make you feel worse.
"You're right... Oh! I'm bringing him along to the casino night tomorrow, he can finally meet the office. Meet Pam!" You said with a smile, slowing down as you spotted an ice cream shop across the street. "Do you want ice cream?" You asked suddenly, and Jim grinned, throwing an arm over your shoulder.
"You are adorable." Jim said, and you looked up at him, still waiting for an answer. "Yes, of course I want ice cream." He rolled his eyes, and you exited the park together, crossing the street and walking up to the store counter.
"You know, there's rumours going around about Dunder Mifflin going international..." You said after ordering a strawberry ice cream and sprinkle cone. "Overheard Jan talking about it on the phone at the Women in the Workplace meeting."
"Where would the office be based?" Jim asked, getting two scoops of cookie dough flavour in a cup. You paid and walked back towards the park, Jim digging into his dessert by your side.
"Either Madrid or Vienna... I thought I would talk to her next time I see her, see if it's still happening. I don't know now though, since Rick and I..." You said, licking the ice cream slowly. The idea of Jim leaving suggested that maybe you should try something new too. You had been at the Scranton branch three years more than he had.
"They could use you! Your Spanish is... Well, I don't know Spanish, so I can't be sure, but I bet your Spanish is great." Jim encouraged it, and you smiled, letting out a breath. The pair of you slowed down, walking along the rickety wooden dock and taking a seat at the end, the half moon shining down onto the midnight blue water.
"Is this it then?" You asked, looking up, taking another lick of your ice cream, catching a drip before it hit your hand. "The end of an era? The three musketeers, no more." You said, and Jim shook his head.
"Not a chance... But, maybe... Maybe it's the mid season break? A chance for all of us to take a breather, reunite for the thrilling finale, end with a bang." He said with a grin.
"There's nothing thrilling about office work, Halpert." You reminded him with a giggle.
"On the contrary, Y/L/N. Because, while my time left at Scranton may be short, I can say with complete honesty." He stopped, taking your free hand in a gesture of faux affection. "For a day to be thrilling at the office, there simply has to be you and I... And Dwight so we can slowly torture him to insanity." He smirked, and you burst into laughter. Once it died down, you and Jim fell into that comfortable silence once more, finishing your ice creams.
The walk to his car was short, the car ride home quick, and you gave his hand a squeeze as you got out in front of your apartment.
"I do not know what in the world I would do without you, Jim." You said honestly, a smile on your face. "So if you leave, I have to get at least one email a day."
"No matter how many times you make me watch it, Y/N, I will never, ever be Ryan Gosling." Jim pouted, and you rolled your eyes.
"Night, Jim."
"Night, Y/N."

Part 10 Part 12
Part 11
The next few days were monotonous. Most mornings, I would go to the gym. Then I'd head off to work. After work, I'd take Perrin for a walk. We stopped at the dog park a few times to throw the ball. Then I'd go home and read or watch tv. After dinner, I would FaceTime Liam before falling asleep.
Although I missed him terribly, it had been good to have some space. I was able to think about us a bit. Liam was always great on the phone, a gentleman even. Yes, he flirted with me and made inappropriate comments, but they were always in context. I'd be lying if I said I didn't flirt with him back. But it was nice to get to know him better, and I decided I definitely liked him as a person and a lover. He was sweet, sincere, funny and warm, the same as he was when he was Will. He seemed to accept who I was. There were no digs at me, maybe some friendly ribbing, but it seemed he liked me too. We spent a lot of time laughing. We had a similar sense of humour.
He opened up about some of his past relationships, how he felt about them and what went wrong. A lot of the times, he admitted to fault, especially in the early ones. I talked a bit about Andy but kept a lot back. No doubt, he noticed.
Thursday afternoon changed everything.
Liam called me when I was driving home from work at about four-thirty. It broke with our routine. We usually spoke around nine o'clock. I answered the phone, and Liam's voice came through the speakers.
"Hello, Sweetheart. How was your day?"
I smiled at this now familiar greeting. "Really good, Liam. How was yours? Have you finished work already?"
"Yeah, good. I'm supposed to stay for another hour, but I wasn't needed, so I left." Liam paused and said, "Listen, Lana, I have to tell you something."
"Oh, no."
"Yesterday, a parent from your school saw the pictures of us." I went cold. I was 10 minutes from my house, but I pulled over. "She left a message on one of the pictures that you look like a teacher from her kid's school." Oh shit. "Anyway, this morning, you were on duty at the "kiss and drop", whatever that is."
Robotically I said, "it's where the parents drop the kids off at school without getting out of the car." I could see where this is as going.
"Right." He sounded strange but continued. "Well, they took a picture of you, put that side by side with the others. Long story short, Sarah was called to confirm your name."
"Oh, for fucks sake." I was pissed off. "What did she tell them?"
"She said she couldn't confirm or deny."
"In other words, yes, but my boss said, don't say anything."
"That's a bit unfair, Lana. She can't lie to them, or they won't bother calling her when they get a story. They will just run it because they can't trust what she says."
"Fuck this," I said and hung up on Liam.
I slammed my foot down on the accelerator and spun the tires. I had a Toyota Camry SX. It's sort of sporty, but it's not meant to be driven like that, but I was fuming. Liam rang again, but I ignored it. I backed off and slightly and rounded a corner, tires chirping as I went. I fumbled in my bag, driving one-handed until I found and lit a cigarette. As stupid as it was, I drove the rest of the way home like that.
When I got home, I quickly changed into my Draggin jeans, leather jacket and riding boots. I grabbed my helmet, gloves and went for a ride.
I loved being on the bike. Andy was the first guy I'd been with who rode. I remembered the first time he got me on the bike. He hadn't even let the clutch out, and I screamed and jumped off. The second time was better, and I went around the block before I got off. The third time, I was hooked. I loved holding onto his waist as we rode, my chest pressed against his back, my thighs touching his, my hands under his t-shirt. I loved the heavy thrumming of the bike, the wind whistling past. It was exciting, erotic, but also calming. Calming is what I needed.
I was so angry. Not at Liam or Sarah. Or even the bitch who outed me or the others who put my photo out there in the first place. I didn't know who I was angry with. Hollywood? Gossip? Social media? Myself? Maybe I was mad at myself. I deserved it. I'd turned my back on Andy, fucked another guy, and now I'm in a relationship with him, according to public record. Every time someone googles my name, his will come up.
The parents at school will give me looks, and I won't know what they are thinking. Will they be laughing at me? And if it didn't work out, everyone would know. I would have to go through a break up while everyone watched, picked at it, chose sides and commented.
I rode for about an hour up through the Blue Mountains. When I stopped for petrol at Wentworth Falls, my thoughts had settled, and I was thinking clearer. I stopped at a cafe, got a coffee and checked my phone. Liam had called twice more and sent a few messages. Riza had called and texted me.
I checked Riza's first. It was a link to an article, Liam Cross's Secret Aussie Lover. Her text simply said, "Jen just found this. Call me if you need me." I didn't click the link.
I checked Liam's. He said he wants to make sure I'm ok. Then he said he wants to come over and talk to me.
I called Liam. He seemed to answer before it even rang. "Sweetheart. Are you ok?" He sounded a bit frantic.
I took a deep breath. "I'm sorry I snapped at you."
"I knew you'd be upset."
"Upset is one thing. I snapped at you and blamed Sarah. You're right. It's not her fault."
"Lana, don't worry about that. Did you read the article?"
"No."
Liam was quiet a while. Then he said, "Are you ok now?"
"Yeah, I'm ok. I just needed some time to calm down." I let out a short laugh. "I am a redhead after all. I have a temper."
Liam laughed, "Do I have to be worried about being stabbed in my sleep?"
"Nah, being a redhead wouldn't make me do that. I get that part of me from being a Scorpio."
"I don't know whether to be scared or turned on right now."
I smirked, "Why not be both?"
Liam laughed and then got serious. "You sure you're ok? Do you want me to come over? I almost did get in my car when you wouldn't answer."
"Stalker," I teased.
"And that's why I didn't."
"I'm not at home anyway."
"Where are you?"
"I took off on the bike to clear my head. I'm in the mountains right now."
"The mountains?"
"Yeah, the Blue Mountains. Look west tomorrow, and you'll see them."
"I'll do that." Liam paused. "I'm really looking forward to seeing you tomorrow."
"I'm looking forward to seeing you too. Bye, Liam."
"Bye, Sweetheart."
I finished my coffee and rode home.
I texted Riza to let her know I was ok. I played with Perrin. I texted my brother to remind him to pick Perrin up tomorrow afternoon. I ate some dinner before packing my bag for tomorrow and went to bed. It was a long time before I finally fell into a restless sleep.
Liam Cross's Secret Aussie Lover
"Pictures of Liam Cross, 38, with an unknown female were circulating on social media earlier this week, and tongues were set wagging.
"Users were quick to put their detective hats on and tracked down Cross's new flame late yesterday. The woman was identified as Mrs Alana Walker, 30, Sydneysider, and special education teacher. Not much else is known about Mrs Walker other than she was widowed in 2017.  Her husband, Andrew Walker, and father Brian Kelly were killed in a horrific Boxing Day crash when his car was destroyed by a truck driver who had a medical incident behind the wheel.
"Sources close to Cross say that he has been elated the past couple of months, and now they know why. They hope for his sake that this relationship will not be plagued by scandal like his previous relationships.
"For now, Cross's camp is remaining tight-lipped on the situation. While they don't deny a relationship, they will not confirm it.
"Cross is currently in Sydney for an adaptation of the widely popular and romantic fantasy epic Beyond the Stones series by C. W. Taylor. He will co-star alongside Australian Myra Roberts with an expected release in the northern hemisphere winter of 2022."
I woke on Friday morning and laid in bed for a while. I should have gone to the gym, but I just couldn't get my body to move. I wanted to chuck a sickie, blow off the whole day, maybe go for a swim, or just watch movies all day. I had an urge to watch Kill Bill for some reason. But I couldn't do that to the kids.
I knew I was just trying to avoid the parents at school. I'm sure most of them know by now. Gossip runs rampant at the school gate. We've all seen Big Little Lies. Probably all the staff knew too. It was one of those days where I wish I could just press fast forward and get to the part where I see Liam again. I didn't want to miss out on that.
In the end, I got up, showered and got ready for work. I tamed my hair, put on my war paint and dressed in black work pants, ballet flats and a pink knitted cardigan.
I started to pack my bag for the weekend, trying to work out what outfits I needed. I had decided what I wanted to wear for dinner tonight, but I didn't know what to wear to bed. Would I even need anything to wear? I blushed at the thought. I packed a basic set of pyjamas. I added jeans and a couple of t-shirts, a hoodie and my Dr Martens. I put some pretty underwear in there too. I didn't have much, just a white lace set which Liam had already seen and two black lace sets. I packed them all.
My phone beeped, and I got a message from Liam. It was a picture of his face all sweaty from working out. He had his tongue sticking out. He had written, I was going to send you a picture of my cock but thought that was a bit vulgar. So I decided to send you a picture of another part of my body that's going to fuck you tonight. Can't wait x.
My whole body grew hot, my stomach filled with butterflies, and I giggled. I started to reply with 'cheeky bastard', but then I had an idea. I sent him a picture of my face with my mouth open in an O shape, and I rested a finger on the corner of my lower lip. I wrote, I was going to send you a picture of my pussy but thought it was a bit obvious. So I sent you a picture of another part of my body that's going to get fucked tonight. X
Within a minute, I got a reply of: Game on, Sweetheart.
Well, if Liam wants to play a game, I can play a game.
I pulled my pyjamas out of my bag and put in a satin shift, pretty much my only sexy bedclothes. I thought about what other sexy photos I could take and packed a few other things. Then I made my lunch and headed off to work.
I rang Riza on the way to work. She asked me about how I was feeling. I told her I was dealing with it, but I said no more about it. I asked Riza about how she and Jen were going, and she said we would meet up soon.
"I miss you," she said.
"Yeah, I miss you too. Talk soon, ok?"
"Yeah, have a good weekend slut! Tell Liam I said hi."
"Suck a dick Riz."
We hung up, and almost immediately, Dave calls.
He doesn't say hello or anything, just launches in with, "Are you dating Liam Cross?" Fuck. "One of Lucy's friends just sent her an article about you and him."
No use denying it then. "Yeah, I am. He's the one I'm spending the weekend with." I braced for his reply.
"Fuck me dead. My fucking little sister is rooting Liam fucking Cross." His voice didn't sound angry. He sounded impressed.
I rolled my eyes. "It's not a big deal. Just don't forget to get Perrin and don't tell Mum."
"Not a big deal? The kids will go crazy when they meet him."
"Dave, we are hardly at the point where we are meeting families."
"Yeah, alright, keep your shirt on."
"I'll come by Sunday arvo to pick Perrin up?"
"Wanna stay for dinner?"
"Yeah, ok. See you then."
I ended the call and got to work not long after that. I went straight to my classroom, trying to avoid everyone. There was one person I couldn't avoid, and that was Marla, my teacher's aide. She was in her late 50s, though, so I thought she would be pretty safe. She didn't mention anything all morning, which was a relief.
At lunchtime, I stayed in the classroom. I told Marla I had some work to do, so she left me alone. I checked my phone and found a message from Liam.
It was a picture of Liam drinking from a bottle of pineapple juice, and it said, Me hydrating for tonight x.
His innuendo made me chuckle, but I had planned for something like this. I took a selfie of myself with a banana in my mouth and sent it with the caption: Presumptive much? Me carbo-loading for tonight.
Liam replied a little later with, I can't decide if I'm winning because my pics are better or if I'm still winning because yours are better.
Marla came back into the classroom about halfway through lunch. She pottered around the room, trying to look busy. She kept looking over at me. I felt myself start to panic. She wasn't acting like that this morning. She must know now. They all must know. I started wondering what everyone was saying about me in the staff room. They had probably sent Marla back to the classroom to see what information they could get out of me. The panic receded, and anger filled the void.
Eventually, I lost my temper. "Have you got something to say, Marla?"
Marla had the good grace to look ashamed. "No. Nothing."
I crossed my arms. "What are they saying?"
Marla sighed, "honestly? They're mostly pretty stoked about it. Happy for you."
I let my arms fall. My vision went a bit blurry. "Really?"
Marla came over and leaned against the table, and rubbed my back. "Oh, Darl, yeah, most of us remember what it was like for you. We just want you to be happy."
I smiled at her, but the tears still came. Marla gave me a tissue. "Thanks, Marla." I sniffed, "ugh, the parents, though. I'm not looking forward to that."
Marla smiled and said, "don't worry about it, Darl. I'll fill in for ya this arvo, and you can do my Wednesday lunch duty. How's that?" I thanked her. Relieved, I hugged her and cleaned myself up.
When school had finished, I made a mad dash to the car park. I knew I was just putting off the inevitable. I'd have to show my face in front of the parents sooner or later, but I decided it was Monday's problem.
I checked my phone before I headed off to Liam's place. He had sent me a shirtless picture of himself with some rope curled up around his shoulder and written, One of my costumes has a rope. It made me think of you. I'm about to leave. See you soon.
Dammit, I couldn't think of a response to that one! I sat and thought about it for ages. I was not about to give in easily. Then it came to me. I got my water bottle and one of my spare undies from my overnight bag. I wet them a bit, put the underwear and water bottle on the bag and took a picture of them both. I wrote. My water bottle leaked in my bag, and my panties got wet. It made me think of you. I'm on my way.
The three circles came up within seconds, and Liam sent, You are in so much trouble, Sweetheart. Park around the back.
And because I can't control my tongue in real life or texts, I wrote back, That's what she said.
I didn't wait for a reply. I just put an audiobook on and drove.

"Sick drawing." Quentin looked up at the you who was standing next to him putting your bag down and taking the seat next to him.
"Oh uh thanks." He said offering a smile.
"I'm y/n, Your new lab partner." Quentin took you all in as you shook his hand. He'd heard about you, seen you in the hall. Nothing about your goth aesthetic exactly sreamed friendly. Kris and jesse would say things about you. "Careful she'll hex you!"
"Wow who's funeral are you going to? Oh sorry that's just how you dress."
You spent class paying attention to the work taking notes and before he knew it class was over. "Uh..so when..or really were do you wanna study so we can do the lab right tomorrow?"
"Uhh my dad's got a teacher meeting thing tonight...I don't have to be home for a few hours.." She nodded as she put her things in her bag. "Yea alright..my house then...I'll meet you after school at the end of the front steps?"
"Yea..sure thing."
At the end of the day you met him exactly where you had said to, but he was accompanied by his friends. "Watch out quentin she might hex you!" He he elbowed jessy as he walked away from them to meet you.
"Sorry about th-"
"Let's go." You bit out grabbing your bag and started walking he quickly followed.
"They're jerks." He said as you continued to lead the way through your neighbor breaking the silents. "They're your friends?" You said.
"Doesn't change the fact that they're absolute dick holes sometimes." You glanced back at him with a smile, before walking up a drive way.
"Penny! Cherry!" You yelled as you opened the door. You where both greeted with the sound of barking and quick feet running down the hall. "Y/n!" Your face lit up as you got to your knees and greeted the girl and dog as they ran into your open arms.
"Hey kiddo!" The dog salked up and licked your face causing you to laugh. "Uh Cherry this is Quentin...he's gonna help me study for biology, Quentin this is my sister Cherry and our dog Penny."
He offered a small wave. "Hi! Are you y/ns friend? She doesn't bring a lot of those home." Cherry asked Quentin as he fllowed the two girls deeper into the house, He only laughed nervousely and you hit her shoulder. "Shut up dork!"
Sbe laughed. "Go do your homework!"
She burried down the hall to her room. "Oh! Dad said he'll be home by eight thirty! Maybe nine!" You rolled your eyes and lead him to the kitchen. "Thanks!" You then turned to him. "Sorry I should've mentioned something about the two of them..." He shrugged and pet penny while taking a seat at the counter.
"I don't mind, She seems like a good kid." You smiled. "She is...do you want something? We've got chinese leftovers?" He laughed. "Sounds good."
The rest of the night was spent within your bedroom attempting to study only to find neither of you took good enough notes to answer the study questions.
"Well I can just look it up in study hall...you can hang out here for a while if you want..." You offered him noticing he'd gotten up from the desk chair to look at the bulleten board filled with pictures that hung on the wall by the door.
"Is that your mom?" He asked pointing to a family photo. "Uhh yea...Penny l/n...she died a few years after cherry was born...we got penny and named her after her..."
"I get that...the whole mom being dead thing." He admitted still staring at the photos, He finally turned to you. "You knkw I meant what I said about my friends-"
You waved him off. "No need to say sorry I'm used to it."
"So then why do you-"
"I like how it looks....It's the only thing I felt comfortable in was clothes like this...kt's not actually true to who I am." You explained quickly. He moved to sit next to you on the bed. "Then who are you?"
"Who do you think I am?" You challenge.
"Well...from what I've seen here tonight. I'd say you're a softie... You like being around people, like making friends, your sentimental, a family per-" you held a hand up to his mouth.
"Got it, you've spent to much time with me today." You said with a laugh moving your hand.
It was quiet for a second. "You know I know somethings about you too." You said.
"Like?"
"Your the reserved one in your friend group, but also out spoken when you get the chance...sweet...kind." You said looking at him. He looked you up and down and leaned forward.
"And you're thinking about kissing me.." You teased before moving closer to him yourself and kissing him.
His hands mobed to your waist as yours cupped his cheeks and climbed into his lap. "You're absolutely right on the last one." He said as you pulled away briefly, you laughed lightly and slid your sweater off and kissed him again.
He wrapped his arms around you and leaned you back on the bed deepening the kiss.
"Y/n! Cherry! Penny!" You quickly pulled away again upon hearing your fathers voice from the front door.
You both let out a slight disapointed sigh but laughed. "Maybe some other time." You winked before kissing him quickly and pulling your sweater back on.
"Hey dad!" You said coming down the hall and hugging him as he let go of cherry. "Hey!..oh I didn't know you had comapny I would've bought more food."
"No, sir I was leaving..my dad will be home soon anyways." Quentin said reassuringly. "Dad this is my friend, Quentin." You introduced the two of them. "Well nice to meet you Quentin, you're welcime baxk here anytime kiddo! Y/n doesn't get a lot of friends around here." He said jokingly, you hit his arm as you walked quentin out the door.
"Goodnight, thanks for having me over." He said.
"Anytime." You smiled and kissed him once more before going back inside.

BNHA x Male!OC
BNHA
Author: Your’s Truly
I’m shipping the OC and Ryuko(Pixie-Bob).
Likota climbed out of the car, helping Ryuko, more commonly known as Pixie-Bob, out so she didn't accidentally reveal anything. Likota smiled slightly when he saw his baby brother, Shota Aizawa. He saw the ghost of a smile on Shota from where he was standing.
"Hey, Eraser!" Mandalay said as she stepped out. "Long time no see," Shouta said before Mandalay and Pixie-Bob quickly began doing their team intro. "Your feline fantasies are here? Say meow!" She said. Pixie-Bob quickly jumped forward. "Perfectly cute and cat-like girls!" She said. "Purrhaps it's time to introduce ourselves," Likota said, his voice sounding like he was disinterested as he got into a little pose behind Mandalay and Pixie-Bob. He wasn't really in a pose. It was just him standing with his hands in his back pockets. "You can call us the Wild, Wild, Pussycats!"
Likota was the first to break out of his pose, seeing the students giving them confused looks. He let out a sigh, going back to his usual demeanor of looking like he could care less. "These are the pro heroes you'll be working with at the summer training camp," Shota said. "They're a five-person hero team who specialize in mountain rescues!" A student that reminded him of broccoli said. "The Pussycats were founded when we were kids like forever ago! This marks their twelfth year working as a -"
He was quickly shut off but Pixie-Bob as she slammed his paw into his face. "I'm pretty sure your math must be off! I'm eighteen at heart." She said. "Understood." Likota heard the kid mumbled around her paw.
"Everyone. Say hello." Shota instructed his students. "Hello! Nice to meet you!" The class said at once, causing Likota to flinch. He hated it when a large group of people said the same thing at once. " We own this whole stretch of land out here, everything you can see. The summer camp you're staying at is there at the base of the mountain." Mandalay said. "Uh, then why did we stop all the way up here, instead?" A girl in the class said. "I'm afraid we both know the answer to that." Another said. "That can't be right." A boy said. "Uh, back on the bus. Quick. Let's go." Another kid said. "Yeah. Good idea. Load up." There was a sound of agreement from the other students.
"The current time is nine-thirty in the morning," Mandalay said. "If you're quick enough, you'll make it there before noon. But I highly doubt that'll be happening." Likota said. "No way! Guys!" A red-head said. "Holy crap!" A pink-skinned girl exclaimed. "Save yourselves!" The boy shouted as they all ran towards the bus. "Kitty's who don't make it there by twelfth-thirty don't get any lunch!" Mandalay said. "You should've guessed, students. The training camp has already begun." Shota said. Pixie-Bob dashed infront of the students before they could reach the bus and quickly used her quick, making the dirt slide from beneath them. Unfortunately, she had also accidentally gotten the ground beneath Likota. He muttered a quiet string of profanities as he quickly got swooped downwards.
He saw he was the first to stand up as the students quickly recovered. "Good news! Since this is private land, you can use your quirks as much as you want to! You've got three full hours. You should be able to make it to the facility in that time. That is if you can get through the Beasts' Forest." Mandalay said. "Sorry, Maine!" She added, using Likota's hero name. "I'll make sure they get through this without major injuries." He said. "Okay! Thank you." The young woman said. Likota nodded and walked forward, heading into the forests.
Likota followed after the students. He was walking, and feeling like his brother. He was in the mood for a nap. Likota could tell the students were exhausted. "You said it would only be like three hours!" A student said. "I guess I based it off of how long it'd take us. Sorry." Mandalay said. "Now you're bragging about how much better you are? That's so mean." Another kid said. "I'm starving! This is hell!" A redhead exclaimed. Likota turned his head as he heard Pixie-Bob letting out her affectionate meows. "I thought it would take you kits even longer, but you did much better against my dirt monsters than I thought you would! You guys were seriously great!" She said. "Especially the four of you! It seems you have quite a bit of experience. I call dibs on these kittens! I'll groom them myself" She exclaimed as she jumped at them, quickly starting to mess with them.
Likota walked over to his brother and Mandalay. "Mandalay, has she always been like this?" Shota asked. "It's gotten worse lately. She's at the age to take a mate. I'm beginning to seriously think she's interested in Likota." The woman said to which the said man let out a quiet snort. "Speaking of people's ages," The green-haired kid from earlier spoke, once again being cut off as his face was covered in Ryuko's paw. "Choose your words carefully, boy." She said quietly. "I was just wondering since we got here earlier." He raised his hand to point at Kota. "Who's that kid? What's he doing here?" He asked. "Oh, this little guy? He's my cousin's son. He lives with us now. Don't be shy, Kota. Say hi to everyone. You're going to be around them for the next week." Mandalay said.
"Hi there. My name's Midoriya. I'm from the UA High School Hero Course. It's nice to meet you." The kid said, walking towards Kota. Likota saw it end before it even happened as he leaned backward, somewhat flinching as he imagined the pain the boy was in as Kota brought his fist back and forward, punching Midoriya where the sun didn't shine. Likota flinched slightly before letting out a strange noise which was the result of him trying to keep his laughter in. "What a low blow! You fiend of a child! A Punch to the scrotum is unforgivable." A kid with engines on his calves said. "The last thing I want to do is hang with some wanna-be heroes!" Kota growled.
"Wanna-be? How old are you kid?" The engine kid said. Likota let out a snort as he let out a breath, having held it so he wouldn't bust out laughing. "Enough playing around. Get your stuff off the bus. Once your bags are in your rooms we'll have dinner in the cafeteria. After that, you can bathe and sleep. Tomorrow your training starts in earnest. You'd better get a move on." Shota said.
Likota leaned on the wall next to Shota, looking at his face. He examined the new scar, his face inching closer and closer until Likota had finally had enough and he grabbed Shota's head and brought it closer, causing his younger brother to stumble.
"So what did this to you?" Likota asked repeated for the third time already. Shota let out a sigh before explaining what he had said four times before. "A group of villains that called themselves The League of Villains attack UA and had a creature that beat me up. You should've seen me. I looked like a mummy." He said. "I've already seen you. Hizashi sent me a picture of you." Likota said, resulting in Shota rolling his eyes. "You want some food?" He asked. Shota nodded and they headed towards the tables of food.

Happy Fourth of July everyone. I have a lot of feelings about America, the government, the political climate. I know that my outlook on life is always going to be do good recklessly. Be kind. Care about other people. And if today is the day where people can come together and try to put a little positivity in the world. And maybe blow some things up beautifully. It's not all bad.
I was very distressed last night. I'll admit that. But I did fall back asleep around 11:30 and we didn't get up until almost nine. I felt pretty good actually. When we got up. James left and went down to his parents house to get the car. Took his mom on an errand and then got to me around 10:30 or 11. I had had a very small breakfast. But I felt fine. It was just very hot today. And the air conditioning in the car is broken.
So we are both quite sweaty. We did two trips from my apartment to the garage. And we got almost everything. We need to get a U-Haul or a truck or something for the last couple things. Which is annoying. But it's fine. It'll all work out. We really need to get into the cleaning part now. Everything is just very dusty and there are spider webs everywhere because I haven't been there for a couple weeks. Still got time but still makes me anxious.
We finished up and we were so tired. But we went to get his mom. And then she came downtown with us so that we could not have to wait for the bus since we both had work. I got to see their family friends house which was beautiful. But I was also just very hot and I wanted to go home.
We got back to the apartment and have an hour and a half to spend together. James made us lunch. He made me a quesadilla and he had hot dogs. And we enjoyed the air conditioning in the fans. We brought another fan over to keep in the bathroom. It's very humid in there. And we just were both quiet together. He had to be at ships by 2 and I didn't have to be at the museum until 5. So he left around 1:30 and I went and took a shower.
It felt great. I wash my hair. And then I got all lotioned and it was nice. I spent the afternoon listening to scary stories and laying around with sweet pea. It started raining. They were calling for it basically all day. And all weekend. But it was pretty at least. Was the nice kind of soft rain. Lots of thunder and lightning though. For not being a very strong storm I was surprised by how noisy it was.
I left here around 3:30 ish. I don't exactly remember. I took my time I left the house inside to come back up to the apartment to get a plastic bag because my purse is nice. One time a long time ago I saw a photograph that said how to tell if a purse was real. And it was two pictures. One where a girl was using her purse to block the rain. And the other where the girl was keeping her purse in her jacket to protect it from the rain. I finally reached a point in my life where I want to protect my bag from the rain.
I had a really nice bike ride down to the museum. Just kind of enjoying the rain and listening to music and it was nice. I got down there about 4:30. There wasn't much for me to do it first. So I kind of walked around the museum and I took pictures of my Furby. I had stopped on the pier and taking pictures out there as well. Which is what my outfit of the day photo is. About at 5 everyone else got there. We got pizza and we all got a voucher to get ice cream later on. We got to make buttons! That was fun. Then we chose our Galleries and then we're just able to chill for a bit. I had spurts of wanting to be social in spurts of wanting to be solitary. I got to tell some stories about going to a Christian School that I believe is a cult. And how we should never be Facebook friends wit people from High School.
I had a fabulous night. I was in the machine shop again and I must have given my 15-minute talk 12 times. The time. That I was in there does not account for that. But I did feel like it. I had crowds of people listening to my speech. And I was telling jokes and I got laughs. I turned on the machines and I made jokes about sculpture. The kids wanted to touch my furby. And that was adorable. I have an excellent night. I got to meet a bunch of really cool people. I have to talk about my art. I'm at some older guys who told me stuff that I didn't know about Machining. I met a couple people who had fun history facts that I can add into my speech. And I always loved that. And soon enough it was mine and we were done.
All of us Educators got together and went and turned all the lights off. And then we went outside to get our ice cream. I got a orange float. Which was fabulous. And then Lane was there! I was so excited to see her! We all were going to go inside after we got our ice cream and watch the fireworks from The Cannery. But then me and Edison, one of the educators, were in there and we decided we both wanted to go outside. So we abandoned the group and went and sat on the dock for the boat. And it was great.
We think the boat might have caught on fire at one point because the grand finale did not go on and the boat was very orange and bright for a little while. But the show itself was great and I really enjoyed it. Even if they didn't have a finale.
We all went and sat in the Cannery for a little bit and waited for the crowds to kind of disperse. And then we went out and help clean everything up. And soon enough it was time to go home.
I biked back here. And I hated biking down by the harbor. In the Inner Harbor at least. The first half of my trip was nice. Middle half was terrible. Way too many people and no one being aware of bike lane. And then I had to be in the weird traffic over where everyone's trying to get on the highway. But I made it safely up to the neighborhood. Where I then proceeded to crash into a telephone pole. Clipped my handlebar right on the side and fell right off. Yelled. But I did not hurt myself. I only bumped my ankle a bit. I think I'll have a small bruise but obviously not as bad as it was last time.
I got in here and close the window and made sure Sweet Pea was okay and turn the air conditioning on. I took a shower. And now I'm laying here and I'm waiting for James. I'm assuming they're still cleaning up and he's okay. Hopefully he'll be home soon. Tomorrow Justice coming to town. And I'm very much looking forward to seeing her. We have a couple activities but hopefully it will mostly be chill. Good night everyone. Be safe.

Conversation
Yang: *Yang walked into the office of her wife who is hard at work despite it being so late at night.* Hey Blakey. Time for bed.
Blake: Uh-huh. Just give me a few minutes. *Blake mutter, typing at her computer without even looking from the screen.*
Yang: Sigh, Really Blake?
Blake: *Blake's ears perked up as she paused for a moment raise her head to see her wife in her pj's crossing her arms.* What?
Yang: You are doing it again.
Blake: Doing what?
Yang: *Yang sighed loudly, rolling her eyes as she walks over to the deck Blake sat at.* You are over working yourself again with the White Fang. Again.
Blake: What? No I'm not. *Blake frowned.*
Yang: Yeah. You are. *Yang corrected, taking a seat on Blake's desk Watching her wife checking her body out.*
Blake: Sigh, Yang. *Blake started, shaking her head slightly to regain her focus.* I have an important document I have to go for my dad about the new Faunus human worker's rights in Atlas. I'll be with you in bed once I'm done. I promises. *Blake said as she began to type once more which was halted by Yang hopping off the desk and turning her chair towards her blonde wife.* Hey.
Yang: But you said that for the past four night, kitten. Most of which you didn't come to bed till four in the morning, getting only an hour of sleep or didn't at all. Plus last night you didn't at all. You fell asleep right here. *Yang reminded Blake as she leaned down to eye level with the cat faunus.*
Blake: *Blake quietly gulped and a glance down Yang's loose top reveal much like must nights they slept Yang wore nothing underneath.* I lost track of time is all.
Yang: Yeah I know. That's why I came in here to save my beautiful wife from her workaholic self. *Yang smiled placing her hand on her chest as she took a dramatic pose.*
Blake: Heh, What's that suppose to mean? *Blake smiled back at her wife's goofiness.*
Yang: What time is it?
Blake: *Blake Raised an eyebrow and turned her head to the clock.* Uh, It's like nine sommmmmmmmmmmmmmmfuck. *She curse not realizing that is was nearly one o'clock in the morning.*
Yang: *As Blake groaned, massaging her tired eyes, Yang took this opportunity to take a mount herself in Blake's lap facing here as she wraps her arms around her shoulders and giving her wife a kiss.* I know that it is important to you that after all of your hard work of taking back the White Fang and actually making great headway on equal right for Faunus. I know you want to help out you dad and mom as much as you can and I will help in every way I can. But you have to slow down. I love you and hate to see you work yourself to death. *Yang smiled, kissing Blake softly as the cat Faunus places her hands on Yang's hips, leaning forward to deepen the kiss.*
Blake: Hehehe, okay. Okay. You made your point, babe. I'll call it a night and We'll go to bed. *She laughed as Yang kissed her cat ear as she saved her work and turned off her computer.*
Yang: Yay. My kitty is getting a full night sleep tomorrow!. *Yang cheers throwing up hands briefly before Kiss Blake again.*
Blake: Yes Ye-Wait? Tomorrow? Why not... to... *Blake questioned until Yang removed her top.*
Yang: Well. *Yang smirked* It's already late. May as well stay up and have fun. Wouldn't you agree? *Yang asked slowly removing Blake's shirt.*
Blake: I wasn't tired anyway. *Blake smiled as she picked Yang to move themselves to a more comfortable lace to have their fun.*
~Two days later~
Kali: So How are my girls?
Yang: We're great. Blake is sleeping now.
Kali: And the advise I gave you?
Yang: Works like a charm.
Kali: Hahaha. Like Father like daughter.

after waking up from short but a much-needed nap, Reagan returns to her English coursework only to remember that studyblr really helped her in the past. She considers posting again.

Hey, wow haha it's been a good six or seven months since I posted... here's proof of life I guess lol
This week and last week have been g a r b a g e but I just have to get through this one and things will let up a bit.
I'm taking three classes, nine credit hours, this summer so I can go ahead and transfer to university in the fall! I'll finally be at school with all my friends again and get involved in campus ministry, so I'm really looking forward to that. The classes I'm taking now are 15 weeks' worth of material crammed into seven weeks, so it's a lot a lot a lot of work.
Last week I was essentially working three jobs on top of school. I was serving in my church's vacation bible school every evening Monday through Thursday. Monday and Friday I babysat from 7 to 3 and Tuesday and Thursday I worked at the grocery store from 8 to 4:30. Then after VBS, I would come home and finish up what was left of my school work. I am exhausted, to say the least.
I turned in my notice at my grocery store job last week, and they're messing with my schedule now and giving me more hours on days I told them I am not available. Our manager quit on us so everything is crazy and I was already planning on turning in my notice, I guess my timing was just really bad. I told them the last day I can work is the 22nd so I will be a little more free after that! I think we have a new manager who I will probably meet tomorrow, and I hope they're nice. I only have a week left, and then I will just be babysitting until the end of the summer which will be much better for my school work and my brain in general.
I was feeling really overwhelmed last night, and I got to talk with one of my church friends today about what's been going on. He really encouraged me and reminded me of some truths that I need to keep in mind this week.
Summer study started off rough, but I am hopeful that it will get better! I also want to hop back into the studyblr community this summer to keep me motivated. I'm really looking forward to going to university in a few months and I think being back on studyblr will keep me excited and motivated to keep working.

After you're gone
Ben hargeeves x reader
Tumblr media
Summary: as one of the other 43 kids born that day you where unaware of your abilitys until they took the thing you loved the most ruining your life until you run into a strange group
Warning: swearing
~~~~~
17 years ago:
You slammed the bag on to the table.
"That enough?" the man behind the counter looked up at you and guestured for you to spill it's contents.
You huffed grabbing the bottom of the bag and yanking it to let everything fall on to the table. He leaned forward examining everything.
"Looks like you're a few bucks short kid."
"What the hell do you mean?"
"I mean what I said!"
You narrowed your eyes at him and began to scoop everything into the bag again. "Hold up!" he placed a hand over top of your's stopping you. You froze staring at his hand before yanking it free.
"I'll cut you in on a deal."
"Oh Yea?" you fixed the gloves on your hands and looked at him annoyed. "Sure! You need it and I'm a good guy kid so listen up!" he kicked his legs back up onto the table. "I heard a few guys who owe me money are robbing a bank in town...I feel it's safe to say they aren't bringing me that money....so maybe.."
You huffed. "You have all these men all these residents struggling to make a living yet you send a 13 year old girl to do your dirty work!"
He smirked and shrugged. "We don't call you Robin Hood for nothing."
"You don't call me that." you turned to walk out as he called after you. "Tomorrow afternoon twelve sharp my dear thief!"
You climbed up the stairs to your small room of an apartment.
It wasn't always like this. You thought back to it as you jumped over the two missing steps in the stair.
You where Ten. No.
Nine. You where nine when your mom died and left you to this dump.
"Hey Lindsay." You knelt down and pet the cat outside your door and looked at the older girl. "What the boss say short stack?"
She got you in to this place she was only six years older than you at this point but with the way she acted you would have guessed she was a 60 year old woman trapped in her body.
"I was a few bucks short..."
"Oh?"
"And I have to Rob a bank to pay the rest off."
"Oh! That'll be fun yet again you're his lovely little eran girl ready to swoop in and save the day!"
You rolled your eyes and stepped inside of the apartment. Lindsay may have been the one to take you under her wind in this place but you quickly took her place as favioret and she despised that "Goodnight linds."
"Night brat."
The door slammed shut causing the wall's to shake and flakes of dry wall to crumble to the floor.
You floped onto the matters on the floor and stared up at the ceiling run through your plan for tomorrow.
The plan? There was no plan. You learned pretty easie that there where never plans. If there where they didn't help they just set a guid line of what SHOULD happen and how it SHOULD go but it's not how it works.
You turned over on your side settling on the fact that you would just have to wing it and hope you got what you needed. And enough of it without being caught by the police or the criminals.
~
"You have exactly two hours to get down there and decide on what it is you plan on doing."
You peered up at Lindsay from your bed sneering. "I know what I'm doing go away!"
"Then you better get going small fry."
You groaned and sat up. "Fine!"
She looked at you with a smirk as you tied your hair up, threw your coat on over your hoodie and grab you bag before sliding the window open.
"Good luck!" you flipped her off before sliding out the window.
The street outside of the bank showed no sighn that a robbery was to take place. You examined it before stepping inside examining the people inside. Nothing. Just normal people not a single one looked out of place or unusual. You sighed and made your way over to a bench waiting for something to happen. You pulled at the fingers on your gloves pulling them halfway off until you stopped and slid them back on. You repetad that process for for a while until something finally happened.
"EVERYONE ON THE GROUND!" your head shot up and you spotted several men with large bags and guns. Finally.
You noticed A few of the men slid into the vault. You stood up and sprinted over to it but some one caught your hood and pulled you down. "What the he-" a boy around your age in a school boy uniform and domino mask sat infront of you and covered your mouth.
You furrowed your brows at him as he peered past the counter. The gun shots from behind you caused you to jump. "Stay here!" he got up and crawled past you. "Wait!" you turned to follow after him but stoped when another kid crashed through the glass ceiling and took two guys out.
The one who tackled you was gone you. looked across the way to see a girl whispering in one of the guys ears. And another not even paying attention as a guy snuck up behind him. "Shit! Hey kid!" you got up and ran to him and sweept his legs out from under him before pulling your glove off and grabbing the guys writst to disarm him.
The man winced in pain as you held his wrist as green started to spread through his veins all the way from there you held his wrist all the way up his arm. He pulled away in fear holding his arm screaming as it continued to travel through his body like a plague eventually leaving him to collapse to the floor.
You stepped back quickly putting your glove back on before turning to the kid. "You alright?"
He stared at you in awe. "You did that?"
You offered a hand as more gun shots ring out and another man fell to the floor beside you. "Yea...no big deal." He was a smaller boy but looked like he was the same age like the other with same outfit and dark neat hair. "Than-"
He was cut off.
"Ben!" you both turned to the rest of the kids. He stepped forward. "Do I have too?" he stepped forward giving you the chance to get out. You ran and hid behind one of the counters.
The boy turned to where you stood but saw you where gone and sighed walking over to the other kids. "I didn't sign up for this..."
You peered over the counter and stared in shock at the monster that demolished all the men left in the vault. "Holy fuck..." the boy named Ben came out of the vault covered in blood. "Can we go home?"
After the gang of kids let all the hostigas go you stuck behind hoping to slip into the vault then out the back. You got up once you though the other kids where gone and headed over. "How old are you?"
You froze and turned to Ben and one of the kids. "Old enough why?"
"Really how old are you? Because If your as old as I think you are that means your like us...that means dad might wanna meet you."
The other kid said. "I'm 13..."
The boys exchanged a look. "I'm Ben this is my brother klaus...he saw what you did too..."
Now:
You sighed to yourself as you climbed up the step to the large house.
"Why am I even doing this?.." you bit your lip And knocked on the door waiting for an answer.
When the door opened both you and the girl on the other side exchanged a surprised look.
"Y/n!"
"Vanya!... Hi!"
"Hi uh its...it's Good to see you...come in!"
"Sorry about your father..." she waved you off as she shut the door. "Its not a big deal..."
Even as a kid you couldn't talk to vanya. You never knew how or what to say. "Oh well I uh read your book!"
"Oh really?"
"Yea I really liked it actually" she gave a heartless chuckle. "At least someone did..."
"I'm taking it they didn't take it well?"
"They hate me." You looked at her. "I...im Sure that's not-"
"It's fine Y/n, What are you doing here?"
"I heard the news about Reginald obviously so I though I would check in on...on klaus...is he here yet?"
She looked at you as you looked around your eyes landing in the window that lead to the yard. You stared at the copper figure that sat outside.
"I haven't see him yet...but feel free to stay I'll let him know your here if I see him." you continued to state and nodded at her. "Ok...ok thanks..."
17 years ago:
"Absolutely not!"
You jumped at the old man's sudden telling at the boys in front of you.
"Dad c'mon she's just like us! You shod have seen what she did to that guy back at the bank!" klaus held your shoulders presenting you to his and bens father.
"She also dosent have a home." Ben steped in front of you trying to persuade Him even more.
"Number 6! Number 4! I do not appreciate you brining this young lady into our home! And attempting to make her one of us which she is not! And will not be!"
You could see three of the other kids looking at you with looks of what you could only read as disgust from behind him.
You shook yourself free from klaus. "You know what it dosent matter I don't wanna be part of your silly little super hero cult anyways!"
"Y/n!" Ben called after you as you hurried to the front door. "No I'm sorry thank for your efforts ben...and klaus but I've been on my own plenty I'll get over it."
You shut the door behind you and hurried down the street to head back home.
"Hey! Hey wait up!" you glanced behind you and found Ben and klaus running after you.
"What are you two doing?"
"Listen kiddo we feel bad for the situation your in and well everything back there so-"
"We're hoping to be friends." Ben cut klaus off again. "Yea!" klaus wrapped his arm around you as the three of you continued to walk.
You smiled and nodded. "Alright..."
"C'mon lets get something to eat!" Ben grabbed your hand and lead you down the street
