Of Godsons, Fruitloops, and Lois 'I will drag all secrets out into the sun' Lane
Danny loses his parents due to their own lack of safety in the lab (death? Coma? People finally putting their foot down about the Fenton's endangering their kids? Idk pick). Jazz can't take him in due to being in college and living on its campus (and he didnt want to force her into an apartment just to keep him, he saw the prices and knows she'll have to work to make rent) and Danny fears the only place he can go to is... Vlad. (Sam's parents would never let him live with her and Tucker's place doesn't have the room)
Vlad's been lording it over Danny, smug about it all, after all he IS Danny's godfather and he has the space and money to provide for the boy in his time of need.
Only, when digging into Danny's files, his social worker discovers Vlad isn't Danny's godfather, he was meant to be but the Fenton's forgot to send/sign in the final paperwork (even if those documents were the only contact they had with Vlad over the years before the reunion)
No Danny's godparent, the person to take him should anything happen to the Fenton's is....
Lois Lane.
His mom's childhood friend.

Thinking of switching careers to IT? ☕
Tumblr media
This guide discusses the learning options: bootcamps, schools, or self-learning
Note: this guide may be a bit lengthy, so I suggest taking your time to read it thoroughly. Just a heads up, I haven't included specific program names or detailed IT roles info here. Instead, the focus is on guiding you to make a well-informed decision for your career transition. So, grab a cup of coffee, sit back, and dive into the guide at your own pace ☕
So which option is good? Any of those options is fine. It's all about what works the best for you. Consider this: your ultimate goal is to secure a job once you've successfully completed your IT studies, right? From the perspective of hiring managers and recruiters, what they care about is your resume, experience, and skills. They will assess whether you are capable of fulfilling the job requirements. Your attitude and personality can also play a role in their decision-making process, which is a topic we can explore another time.
When it comes to switching careers, acquiring new skills is a logical step. Now, the question is: what is your preferred learning style? In the STEM field (specifically IT, in this case), it is so important to be able to consume information effectively as you study IT!
If you find that you learn best with a structured schedule, where you don't have to rely solely on self-discipline, then enrolling in a bootcamp or school is recommended. Note: Even during your studies at a bootcamp or school, you still will need to engage in self-teaching. It's a *MUST*, good practice to maintain this mindset even after you secure an IT job, especially if it involves a lot of developing or deploying. [ Bootcamps & Schools Options ]
There are a few factors to consider: - Costs Generally, bootcamps are more affordable than traditional schools. However, both options may offer scholarships, so it's worth exploring those opportunities. Look into third-party scholarships that may be available. If you have a disability and reside in the US, it would be beneficial to speak with a counselor from Vocational Rehabilitation. Non-profit organizations can also provide support and assistance to individuals interested in returning to education. Studying abroad is another option worth considering. Personally, I chose to study abroad in the UK due to the significantly more affordable tuition fees compared to the US, and because I had a desire to obtain a master's degree in another country. - Instructors' teaching styles It's important to note that not all IT instructors excel at effectively communicating with new IT students. To avoid encountering this issue, do some detective work. Find out who will be teaching you and check out their lectures. Don't hesitate to ask the program manager if you can meet your potential lecturer (ideally before making a decision). Prepare a list of questions to ask your potential lecturer during the meeting. Pay attention to how they explain concepts. If their technical jargon is difficult to understand, they may not be the right instructor for you. Remember, this doesn't reflect your intelligence. It's a matter of their self-awareness. I strongly advise against choosing this kind of an instructor from my experience. - Lessons There are numerous IT job types available, and in a bootcamp, you may not have the opportunity to explore all of them. Bootcamps often focus on specialized programs, sometimes even covering less popular technologies (yes, this is definitely a concern). So you should research IT fields, and once, you've decided on a specific field, take the time to research job titles and similar roles on LinkedIn. Pay close attention to job descriptions and requirements. Create a list of the high-demand skills for those positions. This will help you narrow down your choices when selecting a bootcamp program or school. Look for programs that teach the skills you need based on your research. [ Self-Teaching Option ] You are your own trainer, and you get to design your own personalized learning experience. This option is great if you do not have the luxury to pay out of pocket for a program. It is absolutely not looked down upon by employers. In fact, it is considered one of the essential job skills that employers typically look for in a job applicant. To make a solid entry into the IT field, I highly recommend obtaining certifications and undertaking project-based learning. It's important to focus on certifications and projects that align with the specific roles you aspire to have. Take the time to explore different fields within IT to discover your interests, and then compile a list of relevant learning materials or bookmark tutorial videos. Please be sure to verify that the resources you choose are up to date and not outdated, as IT is always evolving. "Wait, but what about a degree?" This approach is really just aimed at fulfilling the job requirements. Many IT candidates have successfully passed interviews without possessing a degree. Many hiring managers prioritize your ability to learn and apply the required skills. Showcasing your projects on your resume or demonstrating your skills during a technical interview holds more significance. Even if you don't possess the exact skills they're seeking, emphasizing your transferable skills will show interviewers that you are capable of learning and adapting.

do you give out your usernames to employers? I've always worried about jobs finding my accounts since I similarly claim doing art for a skill on my resume, but I figured no one would find them since I use different names? Is it because you use examples on your resume?
i dont! i really mean it when i say i priv my twitter just to assuage my own anxieties. ive had plenty of ppl irl find my account(s) even though i didnt give them my username - i fear it might have to do with online tracing or something, but im not a tech expert so i wont say it with confidence. i tend to do similar things when applying for a visa or travelling as a very small safety measure

Sherman’s stance (and my reaction)
Loren Sherman (creator of Sherman’s Gallifreyan) and Sirkles (prolific Gallifreyan artist + friend of Sherman’s) posted a video a few hours ago where they talked about how to read the phrase on the new Screwdriver as well as how they feel about the BBC using Sherman’s Gallifreyan on an official prop.
Some key takeaways:
Loren noted that the use of Sherman’s Gallifreyan by the BBC does not make it canon. For it to be a canon system, the BBC needs to officially acknowledge that they are using Sherman’s Gallifreyan as the Gallifreyan on Doctor Who
Loren explained that the concept of Gallifreyan, and the concept of a circular language used by Time Lords, are owned by the BBC. Meanwhile, Loren Sherman’s system of writing, which many people call Gallifreyan, is free to use by anyone — including the BBC
Loren and Sirkles said that they aren’t offended by the BBC using the system, and in fact it’s very exciting to see the system being legitimized by being used by a show they really love and respect
It’s interesting to hear their reaction to it, and good to know Loren doesn’t feel like their toes have been stepped on. As the creator of the system, they sort of have the final say on who can use it and how, in my opinion. So if they’re giving the BBC the green light, then I’ll respect that.
I think they’ve also done a good job subtly making a distinction between the BBC using someone else’s system and the BBC canonizing a system of Gallifreyan — “canonize” here meaning to officially make a part of the Doctor Who IP. Until the BBC acknowledges that they are using Sherman’s Gallifreyan (and acknowledges Loren as the system’s creator by extension), the circles on their show, the screwdriver, and their merchandise are technically just random circles. The BBC can say these circles mean anything they want. And while this specific pattern of circles is now part of Doctor Who IP and thus protected by the copyright, any sort of “system” that could be used to ascribe meaning to the circles is NOT part of Doctor Who IP — including Sherman’s Gallifreyan. (I’m obviously not an intellectual property lawyer, so take my thoughts with a grain of salt, but this is my understanding.)
All that said, I’m still feeling a bit pessimistic about how this all shook out and what this means for the relationship between the BBC/DW showrunners and Gallifreyan artists. Regardless of the legality of using or nodding to Sherman’s Gallifreyan in an “official” capacity, I feel like it’s still….morally gray to use a fanmade system and hide behind a sort of “wink wink nudge nudge, real fans know the lore” attitude, while knowing that all the press and articles are going to think it was created by the BBC and won’t do the research to credit Loren Sherman. And especially when taken in tandem with how the BBC has explicitly stolen Gallifreyan fanart to use on the show before…. I don’t have a lot of faith in the BBC honoring the subtle distinction between them using Sherman’s Gallifreyan and then owning Sherman’s Gallifreyan.
We’ll see what this means for the future of DW and the future of the various fanmade Gallifreyan systems that exist! I’ll certainly be keeping a fearful eye on my Etsy store for the foreseeable future, but it’s been really lovely to see the community come together and get excited about this.

Thing that Definitely Isn't Going to Happen That'd Be Cool to See
So, whoever Alastor's puppetmaster is (probably almost definitely Lilith) is going to attack the hotel and/or Lucifer and Charlie, which means he's going to have to fight everyone. He knows this, and Nifty and Husk know this, but all anyone else knows is that some enemy's going to attack. Nifty and Husk want to defend the hotel, but they know that if Alastor has to fight, they'll have to fight for him.
Now, Alastor doesn't like Charlie or his servants or want redemption or anything, but he does want to fuck this person over for controlling him.
So, he offers Nifty and Husk some modifications to their contracts. Specifically, he gives each of them a lot more of his power and a lot more freedom to do as they will (basically, he can't order them to fight for him), with the "catch" that he can take the extra power back whenever he wants or if their contracts are broken, plus they can't talk about the deal or why it happened. It's an obvious win for both of them, so they do it.
Leading up to the fight, Alastor lets Charlie know he'll be calling in his favor: he simply has to do his radio show on time today, and he'd appreciate it if she could make sure he makes it no matter what happens.
Cut to whatever battle happens. Alastor pops up, the villain gives some kind of dramatic monologue about how their precious little puppet will destroy them all, reveals his chain to the horror of all, and commands him to attack with all he's got... Only for him to have jack.
He politely explains that, while he knows it's rude, he's "regifted" their power.
While Charlie, Vaggie, Angel, and Lucifer are still picking their jaws off the floor, this person starts wiping the floor with him and Husk and Nifty leap into action with suspiciously-familiar powers. And because Alastor signed them away, they aren't "his," so unless his mysterious benefactor knows exactly how to make him reclaim them, he won't take them back.
Then Charlie realizes that his "little favor" was a cute way of telling her to literally save his ass and get him away from the battle back to his (presumably somehow safer) radio tower.

Yesterday, the physical therapist asked what my job was, so I told her, and she said, "That sounds like a dream job." "Yeah, it really is," I said and immediately felt like an even bigger asshole than I already know I am because I lowkey hate my job and overall am not very happy with my situation, even though I have no objective reason to be unhappy or hate it.
