I will make you a deal Chapter 2: Finding out
Tumblr media
Summary: After Loki and you made the deal, he has kept his word. After some time Tony walks in on the two of you.  Warnings: Smut
Word count: 2.883 words A/N: At request a part two of the very first story I’ve ever written (@ the-best-phineas). You don’t really have to read the first chapter, but if you want click here. You just need to know that Loki protects you in exchange for being his. You accepted the deal, because you were scared to go on missions and he was very persuasive ;). Hope you’ll like it.
The pain in your knees increased while you were crouching down in the corner. You took a deep breath and tried to reload your gun as fast as possible. Already hearing the foreign screams of the creatures become louder. They were closing in on you fast, and you knew it. This mission was going south. “(Y/N), where are you? I could really use some help here” Tony yelled at you through your earpiece. You wanted to yell back that you too were in trouble, but that would only reveal your location quicker. Three creatures entered the room you were hiding in. They had a very pale complexion and white armour, which made it difficult to see where to shoot. Looking a bit like a reptile with bright yellow-green eyes. On the top of their head, they wore a golden band, which looked like a crown.
When the creature that walked in first saw you it screamed at you. You quickly got to your feet and pointed your gun at him. You shot him through his chest and the creature went down. The two creatures behind it put their guns up and you knew you were done for. You froze. Suddenly a tall figure appeared before you. There was a green flash, and two knives were fired at the creatures. They were hit right in their head and went down immediately. The person turned around with a wicked grin on his face. Still in shock and pointing your weapon forward it took you a moment to recognize the person before you. “You look ravishing today, pet” he purred. You lowered your gun, and he steps towards you. “Loki, where the hell are you?” Clint said with clear irritation in his voice. Loki grabbed you, pushed you flush against him and kissed you deeply. When you opened your eyes, he was gone, and you were alone. “(Y/N), I need you here NOW!” you heard in your ear. You quickly ran out the room to search for Tony, hoping not to encounter more of those creatures alone.
After the mission, the whole team gathered. “I saw a bar not far from here, drinks?” Tony asked. Everyone agreed to that, except Loki. “I’m going back to the tower” he said. Nobody seemed to mind that. “(Y/N), are you coming?” Steve asked you. Before you could answer you saw the dark look on Loki’s face. And you knew what your answer was going to be. “Ehm… I think I pass and also go back” you said to Steve. Loki extended his hand which you took. And a second later both of you were back in the tower. You had expected him to take you right there, but he didn’t. He let go of you and walked towards his room. You went inside your bedroom, locked the door, and hopped in the shower. The warm water felt good against your skin. You started to think about the last three months. Loki had kept his word and had saved you a couple of times. And in exchange he fucked you when he felt like it. But he was gentle in his own way. He always made sure you’d come at least once, and afterwards he took care of you. Grabbing you something to eat, or let you sleep in his arms. Sometimes the two of you talked for a bit, and you learned that he wasn’t all bad. You noticed he was more open when you were cuddling after sex. He opened up about his past somewhat, and you started to understand his outbursts, his view.
The shower curtain was pulled back and suddenly Loki hopped in the shower behind you. You were startled and almost fell. But he grabbed your hips and steadied you against him. “How did you get in here? The door was locked!” you said irritated. He trailed his hands up and down your sides before settling them on your ass and pulling you even closer. “I know, I hacked into Stark’s computer and gave my chips access to your bedroom” Before you could protest he grabbed your cheeks with one hand and squeezed it hard. “You don’t get a say in this. And the only thing I want to hear from you now is you moaning my name over and over again” he growled. And you knew better than to argue with him. He grabbed your douche gel and started soaping you up. Taking his time, exploring your body with his large hands. He took extra time with you breasts and sometimes draw little circles on your clit. He had you panting and moaning after 10 minutes. He turned off the shower, lifted you up and threw you on the bed. “Great, now the whole bed is wet” you complained.
Loki gave you a scolded look and grabbed your ankles. He pulled you towards him and bit hard in your left ankle, making you squeal. “Not a word” he said. He opened your legs and before you could register what was happening his tongue was on your clit. You started to moan, getting lost in your pleasure. The peak of your pleasure hit you and you came hard moaning his name. He kissed upwards, until he reached your lips. Your hands started to stroke his back, lower and lower, and landed on his ass. “Just admit it, you enjoy this far more than you though you would” he smirked. You didn’t say anything, you didn’t have to. Both of you knew that was true. He took his hardened cock and pushed it inside of you in a very slow pace. He grinned widely at your gasps when he entered you. Once he was fully inside of you he set a moderate pace, pumping in and out of you. You arched your back, giving him better access to your neck. He buried his face in your neck, kissing and biting your flesh. You felt another orgasm building up inside of you. But Loki pulled out and flipped you effortlessly around. “Oh no, you don’t!” he growled. He grabbed your hips and entered you again. The angle he held you in allowed him to go deeper. You started to moan his name over and over again. Loki chuckled darkly behind you, while he was pounding into you. “You get to come, when I do” he said. “And you know why that is?” you could hear the smirk in his voice. “Because… I’m yours” you panted. “That’s right, pet. I got you trained rather well” he said with pride in his voice. When Loki’s hand travelled down your clit, you knew he was close. He started to tease you, almost making you come. His thrusts increased “Now” he growled. And you came hard. His had left your clit and pinched your nipple. He came moaning your name loudly.
He collapsed on top of you, and he laid down on his side, pulling you with him. His arms held your back firmly against his chest. A green shimmer cleaned the both of you up. Some things were really simpler with magic you thought. “So, what happened today?” he asked you. “It was 3 against 1, it was not much I could do about that” you complained. “If you acted quicker you could have shot all three of them in a row, why didn’t you?”
“I was hiding at first” not feeling up for this conversation you tried to squirm out of his grip. It only resulted in him holding you tighter. “You’re mine, you may go when I release you” he purred. You sighed, but secretly kind of enjoyed it when he was a bit possessive of you. “Thank you for helping me” you whispered. He kissed your temple “I told you I protect what’s mine. Beside this time, it was kind of my fault” You frowned, Loki never admitted if something was his fault. And it wasn’t his fault, he wasn’t even there when you got yourself in that situation. “Why do you say that?” you asked him. Knowing he was always more open after he had you. “That were the Chitauri, and the fact they were there means nothing good” he sighed. “But I don’t want to talk about it” he quickly added. You laid there for a while, not speaking, enjoying the feeling of him against you. “Have you already read the book I recommended?” he asked you. His hand started to massage your breasts, you knew he wanted another round soon. He started to kiss your shoulder and neck. Before you got to answer him your bedroom door burst open “We’re going to watch a…” Tony started but froze immediately when he saw you and Loki in bed. Loki quickly grabbed your sheets to cover you but didn’t let you go.
“WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!” Tony yelled. Your face became red, and you tried to sit up right, but Loki kept you in place. He sat up a bit, leaning on his arm that was underneath him. “Back from the bar already?” he asked. While you felt like dying inside, Loki didn’t seem to be fazed at all. “W- what? It, .. huh? It was closed, but what? How? When?” Tony started to stutter. Loki and Tony seemed to be in some sort of staring contest. You wanted to break the silence, but Tony began to speak “Jarvis, tell everyone to meet me in the living room in 5 minutes” He still glared at Loki. “Stark, I don’t think that..” but Tony cut him off. “Not another word, I’m sending your ass right back to Asgard” he said angrily. He turned around, slammed the door and left. Loki finally let you go. You jumped out of bed and started to pace back and forth. “Oh my god, oh my god” you muttered. “Relax, pet. It will be fine” Loki said while stretching on your bed. He then summoned his clothes and gave you a set of clothes as well. You stared at him “I CAN’T DO THIS!” you yelled at him. He glared at you “Put these clothes on and let me do the talking” he instructed you. And with that he vanished. Magic also makes things much more irritating you thought. You put on the clothes Loki had given you. A black lace lingerie set, black jeans, and a dark green t-shirt with a low V-neck. It fitted you perfectly and looked really good, which made you more annoyed with him.
You took a deep breath before walking out of your bedroom. It already has been 15 minutes, so when you entered the living room, the whole team stared at you. Loki sat alone on a couch and you sat next to him, as far away from him as you could. The rest of the team was scattered across from the two of you, some sitting down, some standing. They stared at you and you felt yourself become redder and redder. You wanted nothing more that to sink underneath the ground, not dealing with this. Everyone sat there in silence, looking at one another. Steve was the first one to break the silence. He cleared his throat “S- So, ehm.. Tony told us.. you know, what he saw..” Before he could continue Loki cut him off. “You can stop thinking I raped her or put some kind of spell on her. She wanted this as much as me” he said annoyed. “(Y/N)?” Steve asked. Even tough the first time was dubious in consent, you nodded your head and stared at your own hands. Tony started to yell “What the hell, don’t you care that he is a cold blooded murdered who has murdered 80 people in two days on EARTH ALONE. Who knows how many more he’s killed?” Tears were forming in your eyes, you really didn’t know what to say. You could make Loki the bad guy, but you have agreed to this deal. And he kept his word, kept you safe, made you feel good and even opened up sometimes.
Loki scoffed “And what about your past? How many people died because of you?” Tony replied, “That was a completely different situation”. “Maybe, maybe not… Steve? How was your time in the war? And Natasha, we all know that you weren’t always fighting for this side. And Thor, if I am not mistaking I wasn’t the first person wanting to destroy Jotunheim… Banner? Didn’t you destroy a part of Manhattan?” You looked at Loki who seemed angry, his voice filled with venom. The group stayed silent while they were reliving their worst moments, thanks to Loki. Clint spoke up “Was this the first time? Are you in love? Dating?” he asked while remaining emotionless. “We’re courting, if you all must know” Loki replied dryly. You shot him a confused look, not knowing what courting exactly entailed. Thor was the first one to speak up. “Congratulations” he beamed “I’m so happy for the two of you, she’s even wearing your colours! You really have done well brother, Lady (Y/N) is lovely” Thor said loudly.
“What the hell is courting?” Tony asked annoyed. “For you Midgardians it would be the equivalent of dating, if I remember correctly” Loki answered. You looked at him confused, because what the two of you have been doing, was everything except actual dating. Loki met your eyes and shot you a sincere smile, one you hadn’t seen before. “(Y/N), you seem awfully quite” Bruce noted. “Of course she is, he is the God of Lies after all! Thor I want him off this planet” Tony half-yelled. “Why? He has helped us so far, we still need him. He is only courting, that is not against the law here” Thor replied. Loki looked a bit surprised that his brother was actually defending him for once, you noted. Tony scuffed “I’m not buying it” He walked towards you and grabbed your hand, crouching down to meet your gaze. “If he is manipulating you, doing something you don’t want. I don’t care what he’s threatened you with. We have beat him and will beat him again, just say the word” he looked hopeful at you.
You were conflicted. You could tell them about the deal Loki made with you. Getting Loki in trouble, possibly off this planet. But the thought of not seeing him anymore somehow pained you. You could tell them it was not consensual, it wasn’t really at first. But right now, that would be a lie. He was controlling, very, but he was also sweet. Always making sure you were okay and he started to open up more and more. You looked Tony in his eyes, and you didn’t have to be Loki to read his mind. It was clearly that he wanted to hear that Loki was abusing you. You sighed, knowing that he wasn’t going to like your answer. “What Loki said is sort of true” you said. You heard Loki sigh “Alright, the first time I made her a deal. She was scared to go out on missions, so I protect her during those, and she would be mine” Tony stood up straight “I’M TELLING FURY” he yelled while walking out the door. Clint quickly followed him, and you were hoping he would stop him. Thor was still smiling brightly, not at all fazed about Loki’s deal. Bruce, Natasha and Steve remained silent and serious. “You sure about this, (Y/N)? If you don’t want you can stop now” Natasha said to you. Loki rolled his eyes but stayed silent. “I am” you answered. Everyone nodded at you. You got up and walked back to your bedroom, trying to think about everything that just happened. Knowing they would discuss this behind your back.
You closed your bedroom door behind you, but it was pushed open immediately. Loki was right behind you. He closed the door behind him and grabbed you by your shoulders. He looked at you intently “Are you okay?” he asked. For once he showed you a serious concerned look. “Courting? Why would you say we’re courting?” you asked. He chuckled “Because we are” he walked past you and sat down on your bed. “What?” you asked shocked. “Are you allowed to date anybody else?” he asked. “No” you replied. “Am I the only man currently in your life who gets to touch you” he said with an amused smile on his face. “Yes” you replied puzzled. “Are you not mine?” he asked, his smirk turning in a wide grin. “Yes..” you said. “So, I’m courting you” he simply concluded. “I just haven’t been flaunting it around, since I didn’t want anybody else to know yet” he added. “So, know everybody know, you are going ‘flaunt it around?”
“Now that everybody knows, I finally get to touch you whenever I want. And take you out, I already have a few dates in mind” he said. You stared dumbfounded at him and tried to remember every time you’ve been with him. He was still grinning at you. “I feel like I should have been asked, or at least told…” you said. He got off the bed, and pulled you against him, kissing you deeply. He broke the kiss “Come on, what did you expect?”

There's no comparing RWBY 'weapons are part of our souls' to LOTR 'I love not the sword for its sharpness, the arrow for its swiftness or the warrior for his glory, I love only that which they defend'. Ruby fetishizes weaponry so much it's practically a meta gag, while Faramir and Sam long to set their swords aside for gardening trowels. Rwby simps can eternally BTFO making comparisons between them
If RWBY was still back in season three, I'd say comparing it to something like LOTR just isn't fair, that just because there was a lot more big, significant moments in season three didn't mean it was suddenly meant to be taken that seriously. It'd feel like comparing Steven Universe and Phineas and Ferb, because Steven Universe is meant to be an emotional, story-based show with a lot of depth despite it's comedy and goofiness, and Phineas and Ferb is meant to be an episodic show based on comedy and goofiness that still manages to have moments that lean towards being more emotional. Incomparable, really. Steven Universe obviously beats out Phineas and Ferb in terms of character development, emotional beats, story beats, plot consistency, etc, but it's because Phineas and Ferb was never in that ballpark, they were playing in the ballpark in the mall across town with Spongebob and Hey Arnold.
RWBY back in volumes 1-3 had it's incredibly messy things that screwed up the flow and narrative (like for instance the White Fang arc, which was horrible for a number of reasons and always a major blight on the show.) But it was still essentially a school-based, anime inspired, funny web cartoon with great designs and combat choreography that was the highlight of the show, while the plot was there to hold it up. But volume three heralded in a big change in the show (which don't get me, isn't inherently bad, just badly handled imo.) All of a sudden, RWBY as a show was asking to be taken really seriously in volume four. All of our main characters were traumatized, separated, suffering, in over their heads in a world they no longer understood and dealing with deeply personal problems like abusive home lives, PTSD, and self-hatred causing them to push away loved ones. It reminds me in a way of the Harry Potter books changing from 'fun and whimsical adventures in a magic school with writing and style choices a bit reminiscent of Roald Dahl that also has some darker background tones' into 'Harry is fucking traumatized and keeps getting more traumatized, everyone keeps dying around him, the person he once was at eleven now felt like a little brother that had died long ago, his pet owl has been murdered.'
But while they introduced darker themes, it's like they had no idea how to handle them. They started out okay with it, but instead of giving these important topics any depth and world building and moral messages and the focus they deserved, they either sloppily tied up 'resolutions' that were unsatisfying or have just piled on more and more stuff they don't seem to want to deal with. A good example of this is Penny. Her death was hugely significant in volume three, and yet Ruby's grief took a backseat for the majority of season four. After a mentioning in season five, Ruby doesn't mention her again. Then when Penny returns, Ruby doesn't give much reaction, there's no emotional depth, it feels like she barely even cares that Penny's back from the dead. She then decides for Penny that she's going to get a flesh body (I don't wanna hear anyone say that isn't what happened,) while acting totally confident and unaffected by it. She watches Penny's robotic body die while looking like it's reaching out for help while that Penny's eyes do the exact same thing her original body did before the Fall of Beacon, and Ruby doesn't react to that and just goes about her business. (Those scenes are literally triggering for people and I myself don't fully know why, but it's hard for me to even type about it, and the show treated it like just another Tuesday.) Then, Penny chooses to die and frames it like the only choice she's ever made (ignoring all previous content,) and is murdered by a character she's barely spoken to 'for the Greater Good,' while Ruby has no freaking clue about any of it because she already had been removed from the story.
I could talk more about this, but it's running on in length and I want to get to the next point.
Which is that RWBY's attempts at featuring war, loss, trauma, etc while under the banner of hopepunk and presenting itself as serious invites comparison to stories that are more serious like Lord of the Rings. And if not that, than at the very least it invites comparisons to other hopeful but serious story based cartoons like Steven Universe and Avatar the Last Airbender. But the problem is that when comparing them, RWBY does not hold up! Like, at all!
That's what drives me nuts with seeing people compare RWBY to Avatar and Lord of the freaking Rings, because they clearly missed something important when they say that RWBY holds a candle to these things that are both held up as great examples of good writing and world building, two areas that RWBY really falls short in. It's so out of left field, so outrageous. RWBY has always operated under writers that flew by the seat of their pants, brushed off sloppiness, retconned at will, dropped plots, added in things last minute, struggled to make their characters interact in meaningful ways... To compare that to well thought out and beautiful stories like Lord of the Rings, Avatar, or even Steven Universe (the last season rushed against Rebecca Sugar's wishes,) and say that RWBY is in the same league is so weird.
Which like, if people like RWBY just as much as these other shows, that's great for them! If they love RWBY even more, that's also great for them! There's plenty of things I will love and treasure that just aren't as good as other things in the same category. I'm not trying to crap on people who just love RWBY, just... Commenting on the whole 'compare RWBY to Lord of the Rings' thing. One of these stories was prepared to portray serious, real world topics like trauma and the effects of war, and another story... Should have stayed in the lane it was willing to explore. Those are my thoughts on it, at least.

Harry made the best sandwiches. And you can't believe that for three years, you didn't know you were in a relationship with the Gordon Ramsey of sandwiches.
Ever since your trip to London last year, it was a tradition for the two of you to share a peanut butter and jelly sandwich at least once a week. And you would only eat it if he made it, no exceptions.
The two of you were on a plane to London to visit his mom and sister; you were cuddled into his side, watching Phineas and Ferb on his laptop, when your stomach grumbled loudly.
You looked up at Harry sheepishly, causing him to chuckle and kiss your forehead. He got the attention of the nearest flight attendant and let you order.
"What are you hungry for, Baby?" He asked and rubbed your arm with the hand that was around your shoulders.
"Do you think I could get a peanut butter and jelly sandwich?" You shyly asked the woman.
PB&Js aren't something people would usually get on a plane but you thought maybe you'd test your luck.
"Chunky or smooth?" She asked, making you smile happily.
"Smooth please."
"Do you think I could get one too?" Your boyfriend asked.
"Of course!" She nodded and walked off.
She came back after a few minutes, one plate in each hand, making you sit up to bring the tray down in front of you.
You and Harry both thanked her as she walked off, leaving you two to your sandwiches.
"What made you want a peanut butter and jelly sandwich?" Harry asked before biting down into his sandwich.
"Just had a taste for it," You shrugged. "What made you want to copy me?"
"Just had a taste for it."
"Oh, I bet," You giggled and bit into the sandwich. You took a couple more bites before nodding in amazement. "This is the best PB&J I've ever had in my entire life. Like the perfect ratio."
"I bet I could make it better," Harry challenged, eyebrow raised and looking at you from the corner of his eye.
"H, in the three years we've been together, the only things I've seen you make are ramen and cereal," You teased.
"Watch. When we land, I'm gonna make you the best sandwich you've ever had."
"Okay, Chef Harry," You giggled and went back to eating your sandwich.
When you got to his apartment in London, he dropped the bags off in the bedroom before running back to the kitchen and getting started on a sandwich.
"Har, I'm sure it can wait for the morning," You laughed and kicked off your sneakers, setting them by the door.
"No, because I need to prove you wrong," He shook his head and continued.
You shook your head, sat at the island, and watched him make what would soon become his specialty meal.
He cut the sandwich into two triangles and cut off the crust the way he knew you liked. He made sure to leave as much sandwich as possible, but still getting off all the crust, before pushing the plate toward you and smiling in anticipation.
"Go 'head, baby," He urged you.
"You know... it's okay for you to not be good at something. Singing is phenomenal; sex is phenomenal; you're a phenomenal boyfriend, a phenomenal person even! So, it's okay if you're an average sandwich maker," You played with him, trying to put off eating the sandwich.
"Just try the damn sandwich, Y/N!" He playfully yelled and banged his fist on the counter.
"Okay, okay," You giggled and picked up one half of the sandwich.
You looked at it carefully before putting a piece in your mouth and taking a bite. You slowly chewed it, taking in all the flavors, before swallowing and going for another bite. You repeated the slow chewing two more times before you set the sandwich back on the plate.
"So?"
"It's actually... really good, Har. Like really good," You admitted and gave him a big smile.
"You just saying that?" He asked, tilting his head slightly.
You laughed and shook your head. "The only thing that makes yours an A+ and the flight attendant's an A is the fact that you know how I like my sandwiches cut and the crust. Like I told you, phenomenal boyfriend," You shrugged and picked the sandwich back up to finish it.
"Told you!" He yelled victoriously and pumped his fist in the air.
"Yeah, yeah, you told me."
Harry was finally back home after touring and doing press, so for a week you just left him to relax. You cuddled whenever he wanted, cooked his favorite meals, danced with him to his favorite songs. It was actually stuff that you normally did when he was home. But for the week you didn't pretend to fight it or playfully groan.
But now his week was up and you were craving a sandwich.
"Harryyy," You sang and squeezed his nose while he watched tv.
"Stop it," He whined and swatted your hand away.
You just moved your hand to his cheeks and pinched them as if he were a tiny baby with cute, fat cheeks. "Harryyy," You sang again.
"What do you want, you pest?" He teased and tore his eyes away from the tv to look over at you.
"I was just thinking... it's been a while since we had your special sandwiches," You hummed while rubbing your chin as if thinking.
He let out a laugh through his nose, making his body jerk slightly. "Y/N, you haven't had a sandwich since I left, have you?" He asked.
"It appears I haven't," You continued playing clueless and pursed your lips.
"Alright, Baby, your PB&J is coming right up," He nodded and kissed your forehead.
His feet moved from the coffee table to the floor as he stood up and made his way into the kitchen.
You smiled brightly, clapped your hands together, and rested them on your stomach. You had been waiting months for this moment and you were in pure bliss that you were finally getting what you wanted. As the saying goes, good things come to those who wait.
Harry walked back into the living room with two plates, one for you and one for him. "Harry Styles, singer, songwriter, actor, and Y/N Y/L/N's personal PB&J chef. Here you go, Baby," He introduced himself with a playful smirk and handed a plate to you.
"You're so silly," You smiled before thanking him.
He nodded and sat back in his spot next to you, putting his feet on the table and arm around your shoulder.
"Bone apple teeth!" He cheered and held up half of his sandwich.
"Bone app the tea!" You toasted and raised one of your halves to tap his.
You both bit into your sandwiches at the same time and smiled at each other, ignoring the bread sticking to your teeth.
You finished your sandwiches quickly and set the plates down on the table. You leaned into your boyfriend's side and focused on the Avengers Assemble cartoon that Harry had playing.
After an episode of, you felt your lips start to tingle but you brushed it off, not thinking much of it. But once you were running your tongue over the top of your mouth, trying to get rid of the itch, you figured something was off.
"What kind of peanut butter and jelly did you use?" You asked Harry, looking up at him with an uncomfortable expression, eyebrows scrunched together.
"The same stuff I've been using," He shrugged, keeping his eyes on the tv.
"Do you think it was expired?"
"No, it wasn't. I checked. What's wro-" He went to ask but stopped when he looked at you. "Okay, so we should probably get you to a hospital."
"Harry, what's wrong?"
"Baby, your face is all swollen. Come on, put your Crocs on so we can go," Harry gently ordered and shot up from the couch. He walked over to the coat hanger and grabbed two of his jackets. He put one on himself and grabbed the car keys.
"What do you mean my face is swollen?"
"Y/N, is something wrong with your throat, why are you scratching at it?"
He walked over to you and wrapped his other jacket around your shoulders.
You hadn't noticed your hand was scratching at your throat until he asked and now that was all you could focus on.
"I don't know. It's itchy, Harry. A-And it feels like it getting harder to breathe," You frowned. You felt your eyes water and the scariness of it all was starting to set in. "Harry, what's happening?"
"Baby, just put your shoes on, okay? You're gonna be fine," He tried to assure you but you let out a sob anyway, making his frown grow deeper.
You trudged over to your shoes by the door and slipped them on while trying to contain your tears and regain control over your breathing.
The ride to the hospital was quick and, before you knew it, you were lying on a hospital bed, hand gripping tightly onto Harry's.
"You're gonna be fine," He assured you and kissed your hand softly.
He pulled away and kept rubbing circles with his thumb while the doctors and nurses surrounded you, hooking you onto machines and giving you antibiotics. You nodded and closed your eyes, not to sleep but to try to relax, and hoped this nightmare would be over soon and, you'd be back home.
Spending three days in the hospital wasn't ideal but Harry wanted the doctors and nurses to be thorough. You were hooked up to monitors the whole time and nurses were coming in and out to check your temperature, blood pressure, heart rate, and blood oxygen level. Not only that but you had a small tube in your nose to help with your breathing. You were completely against it at first, claiming you could breathe just fine, but one look at Harry's pouty face made you give in. You were taking blood and urine tests to monitor your organs and see what exactly you were allergic to, but you had a pretty good idea of what it was before the doctors could break the news.
Harry stayed by your side for all three days, not bothering to go home and change. No, you weren't dying but he wanted to be there to make sure you were as comfortable as possible.
Once you were back home, Harry texted your parents, Anne, and Gemma to let them know. Anne and Gem wanted to fly out to see you but Harry assured them that you were going to be just fine and you'd call once you were all settled in at home. There was no stopping your parents though; they were on a plane to New York from their vacation home, ready to baby you once they landed.
Harry marched into the apartment and went straight to the kitchen, not hesitating to throw the practically full jar of peanut butter in the trash. He went to the bathroom and started a bath for you, even carried you to the tub once it was ready. He helped strip you of your clothes and get you into the bath as if you were a fragile baby that needed help.
"Har, I'm okay. Come get in the tub with me; you deserve to relax. Please," You breathed out and looked up at him with soft doe eyes.
"Since you asked so nicely," He teased and gave you a reluctant nod.
He undressed and sat at the other end of the tub, before pulling you into his arms and holding you tight.
"I'm gonna be okay?" You asked. You knew the answer but you just wanted to hear him say it. It always calmed you when he said it.
"You're okay, Baby. Just allergic to peanuts," He sighed and let his wet hands trail down your back.
"I eat peanut butter all the time. I'm just not understanding how this happened," You frowned, shaking your head in disbelief.
"It happens but you'll be okay."
"Our tradition is ruined though," You grumbled and moved away to look up at him.
"We'll have a new tradition. We hate peanuts in this house! Fuck peanuts!" He yelled out and stuck up two middle fingers, making you burst into laughter.
Once you calmed down, you leaned back into his chest, sighing happily, completely in awe at the fact that you had the perfect boyfriend.
"My face isn't back to normal yet?"
"Not quite. You're still my little marshmallow for few more days."

The Talk™️
lololol just kidding sorry Laura I love you here’s the real thing just in time 😘😘
We start with Ellie being veeeeery sus 👀 checking out Eastern Europe and the various countries, I mean yes there are plenty of nice, beautiful places there but this is a procedural aka obviously that area can only be shady. I also love that Nick came up silently and waited, watched what she was doing very intently, before announcing his presence. Almost like he’s been suspecting something is up with her for a little while now and seized on this perfect opportunity to do a little digging. But at the same time he doesn’t let it go on too long, and he almost gives her an out- he doesn’t accuse her of being shady AF, instead he’s like oh clearly she’s planning a trip because she’s always talked about loving Eastern Europe not the Bahamas like we’d just gotten jealous over a year ago…right, Ellie? A trip? And then her response ooo girl. She starts to get uber defensive and then realizes that oh wait, he handed me an out on a silver platter so yeah let me take it real quick. AND HE DOESN’T CALL HER ON IT. That’s the real good stuff in this scene- he’s a trained federal agent with years of undercover work, he can tell when someone is outright lying *especially* when that someone is Ellie. So he takes her defensive hesitation and than blatant lie and rolls with it. Beeeecause he trusts her. He trusts her to tell him when she’s ready. He saw how hurt she got when he kept bothering her after the kidnapping, and also saw her tell him once she was ready to. So yeah, he gets it now. He may be seriously concerned for her underneath that joking exterior, but he trusts her to tell him when the time is right, and also likely feels she wouldn’t keep anything huge huge from him. *cue getting ready for heartbreak in the finale it’s fine everything is fine*
Of course we move on to the flirty stuff because we avoid serious talk here 🙄 Ellie still sus though don’t get it wrong, shutting that laptop real quick when he rounds the corner taking no further chances. And her crossing her arms while he offends her choice of “vacation” hahaha she’s so obvious, honey you got the hots for him it’s ok. Little middle school flirting like oh yeah you can do better? Prove it jerk. And Niiiiiick 🥵 I wish you could see the screenshot I’m paused on right now after he says it depends on who he’s going with before he asks her who she’s going with because DAMN that look. He can think of one (1) person and one person only who he’d go on a trip with. Her little smirk back before she decides to throw all pretense to the wayside and says fuck it I don’t care that we’re in the bullpen out in the open lemme flirt with you ~*Agent Torres*~ AND HE’S LIKE TWO CAN PLAY AGENT BISHOP PLEASE INVITE ME ON YOUR TRIP THAT I KNOW DOESN’T EXIST BUT I’D LIKE TO KNOW I’D BE INVITED IF IT DID. And please her giddy smile afterwards and then she goes from leaning back in her chair to leaning forward towards him because these two are absolutely drawn to each other bitches and I can’t get enough of them and their little playful smiles and body language. AND NEITHER CAN JIMMY.
Jimmy is the ellick fandom. Because yes, keep going this is ✨just delightful✨ and I never want it to stop unless you’re kissing. Thank you. And pleeeeease them stumbling over their words when they realized they’ve been caught I CANT. They both look *so* uncomfortable and it’s hilarious, and then Ellie can’t help but laugh at Nick’s dumb joke making fun of Jimmy because it’s her man and he’s so *funny*.
Bring us to Jimmy redeeming himself. But also yes this just confirms to me that he told Nick what he needed to hear back when he said zero chemistry. And now Jimmy’s observed silently, see where Nick has come in the last year and everything the two have been through and knows he ready to hear it for real. Well Jimmy was ready a while ago for them to move it along so yeah he’s like where’s my spoon I’m gonna STIR THIS POT. And then it is born, the slogan of the episode, the point of the WWR (please don’t have PTSD Laura), The Talk™️. Nick’s face oooo man, he initially tries to deflect like no we aren’t talking about that cozy scene nuh uh and then it turns into his worst nightmare- being called out by James Palmer of all people with Ellie literally five feet away. (ALSO MCGEE IS LITERALLY A FOOT BEHIND THEM. He 1000% heard this entire conversation if Ellie heard it. Bro better not try to deny a single thing later I’m watching you sir 👀) Nick’s expression is screaming what the fuck shut UP Jimmy this can’t possibly be happening so let me try to joke and deflect again (small smile because it was still a little funny) and then back to what the fuck he’s undeterred shit shit shit oh thank god McGee has started talking yes we have a goddamn huge problem autopsy gremlin won’t take the damn hint.
And woooooow the first time I’ve seen Nick at his desk in a while 👀👀 he said shit people are on to me let me put ✨space✨ in between us for like five seconds while we still shoot each other cute smiles.
Oooooooh now we here for the evisceration. The Here Lies James Palmer moment of the episode. Catch me dYING in the club, not crying. Because holy shit Ellie this was not only brutal and Brian absolutely killed it during this scene with his reactions to Ellie ripping him apart. His “oh…Oh…oooh.” Had me cackling. And Ellie you are the poster child of defensive, pulling out all the stops. Let me deny everything, let me then be a slight hypocrite because people shouldn’t be talking about me (because I’m terrified about considering broaching that topic too) but I can talk about Gibbs and Sloane previously, and then also like sort of admitting to it by asking Jimmy what people think is going on because that’s the question she would *love* to know the answer to but hasn’t gotten yet. All the while cue me laughing hysterically at jimmy, top tier scene right here lets be honest. Because then Kasie comes in and it’s just perfect 🤣🤣🤣 this was his sister, Painful. Couldn’t have said it better myself Kasie 😭💀
Lol at McGee telling Ellie not to tell Nick he was right about it being a coincidence 😂
HOW CLOSE DO WE NEED TO STAND TOGETHER Y’ALL. HOW CLOSE. THERE’S A WHOLE GODDAMN BULLPEN. Remember when I said Nick wanted space for 5 whole seconds, yeah this is why. They’re straight magnets - drawn together indubitably 👀
Quick detour for the continued storyline of sus!Ellie and it makes me even more and more excited for the finaleeeeee. Because honey why do you know it takes 10 pounds of pressure to rip a trachea out and yes we all know it’s Odette and I can’t wait for the aaaaaangst. Also Kasie always coming in clutch with the humor, I live for it. “No you right I got nothing” 🤣🤣
Once again, Nick forgot about his desk, it was short-lived wasn’t it? 😅
Now to another fun scene, and I feel like there’s a little double meaning to when Nick talks to Ellie about Phineas going through a lot this year, “more than most of us, which is saying a lot this year” - obviously covid but also maybe a callback to the kidnapping/jail cell stuff they dealt with?? Maybe?? Anyways, them being so awkward cute together because there’s a slight lull in the case so they revert back to their middle school selves, “so” “so…” I can’t with them omg. And then, and THEN of the two to bring it up, it’s Nick!!!! Yes!!! The GROWTH. This man used to be so emotionally closed off and now he, HE is bringing up The Talk™️ and he almost chickens out, he almost says haha you’re right we don’t have to have The Talk™️ after Ellie has a minor freakout because good god this girl is on *edge*. Her mind has probably been going a mile a minute the second she heard Jimmy call them out at the crime scene because she’s been living in blissful ignorance the past months/year whatever and now everything is smacking her in the face. But Nick, ugh I love the growth. He brushes it off and then has a moment where his face is like, no, no I’m not a wuss and he admits that yes he’s thought about it (the way he pauses when he says “not that it hasn’t been on my mind…us…” and I’m like yeah you two as a couple has been on your mind hasn’t it Nick 👀) and yes I want to have The Talk™️ with you Ellie Bishop. And not only does he admit this he’s also the one that’s like ok yeah cool BUT WHEN. Let’s nail this down please, I need it in my planner asap. And then she gets all giggly again “I don’t know when do *you* think?” Like omg I’m literally in middle school again. They’re so fucking cute and awkward it’s precious. Especially when they have to end their conversation and suddenly act normal when talking to McGee 😅😍 then they go separate ways and the look Ellie shoots Nick ahhhhhhh it’s almost like a let’s table this but also shit we really did half open that can of worms in the middle of a work day. Nick sighs and looks briefly to the sky like shit what did I do in a good way and bad way haha.
Back to Kasie with the ✨iconic✨ lines I love herrrr. Ellie being sus again with being resistant to change. I can’t decide if she’s not only talking about the possibility of dating Nick (once again defensive because Kasie about came for her throat hahahah) but also maybe about whatever is going to go down with Odette 👀👀
HERE WE ARE. THE MOMENT WE’VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR. Back to being cute little awkward idiots in love that need to have The Talk™️. I mean come on they’re trying so hard to avoid the actual talk and just dancing around it “so” “so” “talk a roo” “talk a reeno” excuse me what the fuck are you saying just SAY IT. And Nick is still ready and rearing to go but also wants to respect Ellie and give her space if needed so he offers to just agree The Talk™️ needs to be had. And of course she counters with “need is a strong word” because damn this girl is spiraling. She’s so terrified of the outcome of this talk she wants to deny it needs to exist but still she can’t help it at the end of the day. And Nick is still like ok BUT WHEN. I WANT TO TELL YOU I LOVE YOU AFTER YOU TELL ME YOU LOVE ME. SO LIKE WHEN ELLIE WHEN. And he once again plays off her deflection (a theme of this episode) with yeah yeah they’re super tired not at all wired just thinking about this talk that is at the tip of his tongue. At least Ellie is finally seeing the light and realizes that they should promise to have The Talk™️ but as she sits there staring at the elevator in front of her she’s like oh fuck, it can’t be soon can it. Fuck fuck fuck I can’t hold this in longer, we can’t keep dancing around it. fuck. So when Nick once again tries to press her to nail down a time she’s like well fuck it let’s do this shit now. Then she can’t realized that shit I actually said it, I actually said that. I said we should have The Talk™️ now. And Nick’s genuine surprise mirrors hers because she’s been the one half-denying The Talk™️ all day and now she wants to do this right here right now??? But at the same time he’s got a little smile to his face because he loves the idea of her being on board and finally getting this done. Finally getting to hear how she feels.
So they walk into the elevator with a MUCH better vibe than the last time they walked in all serious at night (looking at you dumb Nick with Elena) but I guess the Elena Elevator Talk walked so the Ellie Elevator Talk could run 👀
And Nick while yes he’s ready for this shit to finally happen he’s still vulnerable, still terrified of opening himself up because he’s seen his dad (recently) and how commitment and relationships run in the family 🙄 plus this is all very new to him outside of Sofia and this is definitely not new to Ellie (Jake, qasim). He needs to hear she’s all-in too, needs to know he hasn’t built something up in his head for something serious when she views it as just a flirtation between friends. So he nervously says ladies first and while Ellie gives him a look of protest and wtf man, I think deep down she knows this is all so difficult for him despite how much he’s pushed it over the course of the day plus SHE is ready to get this out in the open. The moment she decided to stop denying and spiraling she went full force head on let’s talk about us. She hedges for a second and Nick continues to be nervous as she’s clearly building up her own nerve. Then she says probably the exact same moment he’s thinking of- or at least one of them- the jail cell. The defining, triggering moment that set this thing at full speed. He can’t believe she’s really saying the words, about to hear what he hopes is his feeling of that jail cell reciprocated in her words and his head turns quickly to look at her, unable to believe his ears that what he’s been dying for all along is going to happen. The Talk™️ is happening and damn it seems like it’s happening in the right direction.
Of course we have no damn clue what was said and I’m jaded and don’t think they’ll ever tell us- RIP the note. BUT I’m so glad it actually happened (and the cinematographic parallels of course), a STEP towards canon!Ellick I’m fine.
Now to see where they take this from here in the last two episodes and I can only hope an angst filled canon!Ellick because duh.

*spoilers for infinity War/endgame* Because technically Phineas and Ferb Is in the same universe of the MCU, does that mean that before the Avengers undid Thanos snap some of the PnF crew died? Imagine Doof Dying, Perry living but still visit his tower every day bc he misses him. Or Phineas and Ferb Dying, and Candace trying to bust them Just to rember they're gone.
WAIT THAT’S SO SAD O_O
I can’t stop thinking about what would happen if Heinz died. Perry would absolutely keep coming back to the tower even though there’s no scheme to thwart. Sometimes he’d run into Vanessa, who’s mourning just like he is. Her dad may drive her up the wall sometimes, but she still loved him and she would have to have a lot of regrets about how rocky their relationship had been at times. And assuming the squirrel powering Norm up didn’t die, he’d have the whole penthouse to himself for the first time. I don’t know if it’s in Norm’s programming to be genuinely sad, but I have to think that over five years of only finding companionship in Perry and Vanessa’s visits, he’d have to lose the cheerful air he always has.
In fact, I think a lot of OWCA and LOVEMUFFIN would be fucked up. Only about 25% of nemesis pairs would survive, and 50% of evil scientists and agents would be left without their nemesis. There would have to be a lot of rearranging, and depending on what happens to the OWCA/LOVEMUFFIN member ratio, some agents might be without a job or some might have to double up. Can you imagine Perry taking on two evil scientists every day while he’s mourning the loss of his best friends?
And then when his day at work is done, he’d have two choices: he could go to Doofenshmirtz Evil Inc and not be met with Heinz’s self-assured monologuing, or he could go to the Flynn-Fletchers (it would be difficult to call it “home” now) and constantly be reminded that his boys are gone. I would like to think that both Linda and Lawrence get to stick around, but they’re no substitute for Phineas and Ferb.
Much like Perry’s dream in Phineas and Ferb Get Busted, Candace would be heartbroken. She wouldn’t know what to do with herself if she wasn’t busting the boys. It really is the only thing she’d focused on all summer, and if they just up and disappeared one day, she’d be so lost. I have to imagine that either Stacy or Jeremy would also get snapped away -- the odds that all three would live would be slim to none -- so she’d also be mourning the loss of at least one of the closest friends. Assuming one of them survived, I imagine she’d lean on them for support more than anyone, but they’d be dealing with losses in their own family, too -- they both have at least one parent and a younger sister; I imagine at least one person in their family wouldn’t make it.
I think Candace would really hold a grudge against Perry at first because he reminds her of them. Perry’s used to her being rude -- and it’s not exactly a one-sided thing -- but never to this extent, and I think he’d take that as a sign that maybe he shouldn’t come home. He doesn’t want to sleep in Phineas and Ferb’s empty beds, anyway. It would make it easy to embrace a second nemesis at OWCA, even if he feels numb the whole time, but he’d still need somewhere to go when he’s not working, and I think he might make himself at home at DEI, at least at night when he needs somewhere to sleep. He’d be careful not to disturb anything because even though he knows Heinz is gone, he can’t stop hoping that maybe one day he’ll come back, and Perry doesn’t want to move anything for when that day comes. Even after five years, whenever he pays DEI a visit, he touches nothing but the coffee maker and the bed.
I think eventually, though, Candace and Perry would have to be reunited. It’s a small town; they can’t stay away from each other for long. Maybe it’s Perry who takes initiative, going back home for the first time after a month just to see how everyone’s doing. Obviously everyone’s still broken up about it, but it’s been long enough that people have to start moving on and living their lives without their loved ones, no matter how much it hurts. I don’t think Perry would have gone home to see Candace, but I think once he did, he wouldn’t want to leave. And for once, I think Candace wouldn’t want him to leave, either. Yes, Perry reminds her of the boys, but so does everything and everyone else. But having him disappear within days of the boys turning to dust just left another hole in the household, and it helps to have back the only one who misses them like she does.
I think the gang would absolutely fall apart. They had nothing in common before Phineas and Ferb brought them together that summer, and with them gone, there’s no one to unite them anymore. I don’t think it would be a conscious decision, but I think they’d slowly stop spending time together and that eventually it would be almost like that summer never happened. I even think Buford would stop bullying Baljeet, even as a friend, because it just feels wrong now. They wouldn’t know how to cope without Phineas and Ferb, and it would tear everything apart.
I think the Fireside Girls would grow closer, though. I think Isabella would become much more focused on getting her patches because it’s something to take her mind off the pain and she wouldn’t have to think about the fact that she never got to tell Phineas about her crush, and I think the girls who survived would know what she was doing and they would do their best to help her. I think there’d be a lot of heart-to-hearts and a lot of tears, and maybe they’d expand their duties to try to help others who are struggling the same way they are, even if the best they can offer is some sort of distraction.
And as heartbreaking as it is to think about what would happen when they’re all gone, I can’t even imagine what would happen when they come back. Maybe Perry’s at DEI with 21-year-old Vanessa -- a whole ass adult now -- and Norm, sitting together quietly or reminiscing about the past and bam, Heinz appears in the middle of his lab. I think that might be the first time anyone ever sees Perry cry -- and I mean full-on sobbing; he’s been waiting for this day for five years but he never actually thought it would happen. It would be such a nice, happy reunion, and I can’t even imagine how much it would mean to Heinz to know that Perry stuck around for five whole years waiting for him when he knows that everyone else has abandoned him the first chance they got.
And then they’ve notice how loud the tower is and how busy the streets are and they’d realize that Heinz isn’t the only one who came back, and Perry would give Heinz a big hug before running out the door to see if Phineas and Ferb came home. Heinz wouldn’t understand at first -- why would Perry wait around for five years just to leave within 10 minutes of Heinz coming back? -- but Perry had spent enough time with Vanessa lately for her to know that he has a family back home. That would just make Heinz feel even better. Perry lost his two boys and he still spent so much time here.
Phineas and Ferb would be so disoriented. One second they’re building a giant disco ball, the next they’re standing in an empty yard with no friends, tools, or disco balls in sight. They’d head inside to ask their parents if they knew where Isabella, Buford, and Baljeet went, and their parents would start crying because the boys are back! After all this time, their boys are finally home! and Phineas and Ferb wouldn’t understand why they’re suddenly being given the biggest bear hugs of all time but they wouldn’t protest. And then Perry would run through the door, almost like he somehow magically knew he’d find them, and he’d stay by their side all day, only leaving (after a day full of snuggles, obviously) to go back and visit Heinz. OWCA and LOVEMUFFIN would have a lot to sort out, so he’d hopefully get at least the next couple days off to spend with his family -- both the Flynn-Fletcher family and the Doofenshmirtz family.
Candace would probably be at school -- she’d be 20, after all, and probably at a college dorm a ways away from home. Maybe shed get a call from her mom, sobbing, telling her that her brothers are back. Or maybe someone in her dorm would start screaming and telling everyone who will listen that her dad is alive and her dad’s been dead for five years and this is the best news she’s ever gotten, and soon the entire school (and probably the entire world) is on their phone calling around to see if their own families and friends are okay. The phone lines wouldn’t even be able to handle all this, and the streets would be a wreck with people trying to get to their loved ones.
And can you imagine what it would be like for Isabella, Buford, and Baljeet to see them again? They’d be 13-15 years old at this point, and Phineas and Ferb would still be in elementary school. The boys may be mature for their age, but I have to imagine the five-year age difference would create a major rift in their friendship if they tried to go back to where they used to be. If Isabella still had remnants of a crush on Phineas, it would probably stop the moment she remembered that he’s just a little kid, and she’d have to figure out how to cope knowing that her former best friend (and first crush) is back but that they’re at such different standings in life now. Hell, Phineas and Ferb are probably closer to Little Suzy Johnson’s age than to Isabella, Buford, and Baljeet’s. I think it would really mess with Phineas and Ferb to see their friends so much older and more mature, especially because to them, they’d just been kids building crazy things the day before.
Once again, I think the Fireside Girls would be fine. They probably would have taken in some of the Lil-Sparks-turned-Fireside-Girls like Melissa (not Chase) into their troop to make up for lost members, so the varying ages would be nothing new; they’d just be happy to have their friends back.
tl;dr I think the snap would be heartbreaking and the reunion would be bittersweet and this is the woRST ASK I’VE EVER GOTTEN AND NOW I’M GONNA CRY IN A CORNER FOR A FEW HOURS /j

Rewrite the Stars
What’s this?! A phinerb fanfic after a writing hiatus of 8 years?! Well, I hope you like this guys, it sure was fun to write again.
AO3
---
It was a warm summer evening. The sky had a warm orange and pink color, sun bearably visible. Sitting under a tree in his backyard was a green-haired teenager, looking at the leaves that gently moved around by a soft summer breeze. He closed his eyes while feeling the touch of warm air against his face. He smiled, while his thoughts were drifting farther away.
“Hey Ferb!”
The teenager opened his eyes as he saw his step-brother walking towards him. His messy fire-red hair bouncing around as he walked toward him. Ferb couldn’t help but notice the boy’s freckles, it was like they were glowing on those soft cheeks. His heart began to beat faster.
“Everything is ready for our movie night!” Phineas continued while stopping in front of the teenager. “I’m just waiting for my favorite person in the whole world to come join me.”
Phineas was a cheerful 16-year-old genius. Although he was a year younger than Ferb, the boys were in the same grade together. But that never stopped him from his goofy behavior and endless imagination. Ferb on the other hand was more of a dreamer, his thoughts always far above the clouds. Yet the boys were inseparable, like two peas in a pot.
The red-head held out his hand, “You coming?” Ferb felt his cheeks starting to get warm. He hesitated but took the boy’s hand and got up from the ground, dusting off his shorts while clearing his throat.
“I’m there, just give me a minute.” He replied in his British accent.
“Don’t take too long, you know it’s my favorite movie!” He smiled as he already turned around, going to their room.
For as long as he could remember, Phineas loved romantic movies. Ever since ‘The Greatest Showman’ was released he saw it at least every month. And since it was at least a month ago he asked Ferb to join him. The British teenager loved spending time with his younger brother. But for some time now his feelings toward him have changed. Whenever he was around him he felt a kind of joy that was hard to explain.
It all started one night when the boys went out with their friends. They all gathered at a karaoke bar for karaoke night. It was something they loved to do ever since they were kids. After some songs and a lot of laughter it was time for the teenagers to go home. Baljeet and Buford first said their goodbyes ‘cause they lived on the other side of town. Isabella joined the two brothers, since she was their neighbor. They hopped on their bikes and left. Once arrived the girl hugged the boys goodnight and went inside their home. Ferb looked at the boy.
“I still can’t believe you two…” he sighed. “Why aren’t you guys a thing? You would be perfect for each other.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, bro.” Phineas looked away while nervously scratching his neck. “I mean, yeah, she’s great and I like her a lot, but she’s like a sister to me.” Ferb noticed the always cheery boy’s smile fade away.
“Hey Phin, I didn’t mean to make you feel sad or anything.”
“It’s not that Ferb, it’s just… Ah forget it.” Phineas put his bike in the garage and went toward the door. Suddenly he felt a hand grasping his arm. He turned around with tears in his eyes. Ferb noticed them and got worried.
“Phineas, what’s wrong? You know you can tell me anything.” he took the boy by his shoulders, trying to make eye contact, but Phineas looked away.
“I want to, believe me, but it’s not that simple… I need some time to think, that’s all.” the boy whispered. The moments that Ferb saw his brother like this were rare. If something was bothering the 16-year-old, Ferb was the first one to know about it, but never had he hesitated to talk about something. Ferb let go of the boy.
“Whenever you’re ready Phin… You know I’m there for you.” He paused for a while. “You know what, I’ll make us some hot chocolate just the way you like it!”
“Thanks Ferb-o.” Phineas replied. But as soon as Ferb passed him to go inside he crossed his arms, hugging himself and finding the courage the say the following words. “I… I think I’m gay…”. Ferb stopped and turned around, staring at the boy. “I know I can tell you anything, but I… I…”
“It’s okay Phin.” The green-haired boy stopped him, his voice calm and gentle. “Don’t worry about it, I’ll always be here for you.” He said while embracing the boy.
“Thank you…”
Ever since that evening Ferb has been even more protective over the boy. But that’s not the only thing that changed. He washed his hands and grabbed some popcorn. When he opened to door to their room he saw his step-brother sitting on his bed.
“Took you long enough. Come on, the show’s about to start!” He said eagerly. Ferb smiled and went toward the empty spot next to Phineas and sat down.
They were a good few minutes into the movie. Phineas was singing along with all the songs. It was more of a performing show actually. Ferb laughed and sang along. A few songs passed and the boys calmed down a bit. The British boy wasn’t paying a lot of attention to the movie though. His eyes caught something more interesting: the boy next to him. He noticed his soft smile, the sweet smell of ice-tea on his breath, the stars in his eyes while watching his favorite movie. Ferb began to drift away in his thoughts again. He could feel his face get warmer, his heart fluttering with joy. Phineas shifted his position and brushed his hand against Ferb’s. His heart began to race and his face turned bright red as he moved shockingly a few inches further from him.
“Ferb, you okay?” Phineas noticed his sudden change in behavior.
“Yeah… Fine.” He lied. He wanted to tell him so badly what was on his mind right now. But how could he? How in the first place could he have these feelings for his step-brother? The boy turned away and began to bite his nails, a bad habit he had when he was nervous.
“You sure? You seem a bit… off.” The younger one moved closer and reached out to Ferb’s shoulder.
“It’s nothing…”
“Bro, if you don’t wanna talk about it, that’s fine with me…” He paused, looking a bit worried. He knew Ferb was more a man of action than words. “Let’s just enjoy the rest of the movie, shall we? The big duet is coming up.” He noticed. ‘Rewrite the stars’ was Phineas’s favorite song of the movie. It was blasting out of his headphones 24/7.
“Phin, you never told me why you loved this song so much.” Ferb wondered. Phineas turned toward him.
“What’s not to love about it?!” He laughed. “Next to the genius music that keeps stuck in your head all day long it’s the story behind it I love the most.” Phineas his cheeks turned red as he took a breath. “It’s about two people who love each other, but can’t be together cause of their lives being too different.” The boy stood up and turned toward his older brother. “But their love is so strong that they are willing to rewrite their fates, so they can be together.” He explained while hugging himself. Ferb couldn’t help but smile. He loved the way the red-head could tell stories, he loved the sound of his voice.
“Something like ‘Romeo and Juliet’?”
“Yeah, sorta, without the dying part though.” The boys laughed. Phineas sat down again and took a sip from his ice-tea. Ferb turned toward him and saw his chance to ask something.
“Phin, do you… Do you know the feeling of liking someone, but in some way you know that that feeling won’t work out?” His face turned red again, his throat became dry.
“I… I guess you can say that…” the boy’s smile faded away. He began to scratch his hand, which was a nervous tick he developed at a young age. “Why do you ask that all of a sudden?” He whispered, staring at his feet. Ferb looked away, a bit ashamed. What was he thinking? Now there’s no way back… What if he thinks he’s a freak now?
“It’s… It’s the movie I guess.” He sighed. “I mean, it’s complicated… There’s someone I’m longing to touch, to hold, to… To kiss…” he stood up and walked toward his bed, just standing still in front of it for a few seconds, before letting out a big grunt and landing face-flat on it. He turned his face toward the wall and took another deep breath before continuing. “These feelings are new to me, and they just, confuse me…” suddenly he felt weight pressing down at the end of his bed. He turned around to see that Phineas was sitting there. Looking at his hands, his cheeks red.
“I think I know what you’re going through…” he muttered. The eldest of the two turned around and pushed himself in a sitting position not far from his brother. There was something about this moment in their room, something that felt like heaven. Was it the final ray of sunlight coming through the window? Was it the music coming from the movie still playing? Or was it the feeling he got from the boy, that strange but oh so good feeling. Phineas turned toward him with a soft smile. “Close your eyes.” he asked, looking at him with his big baby blue eyes.
“What? Why?” Ferb was startled by that suggestion.
“Just… trust me” He whispered, eyes still locked onto his.
Ferb took a deep breath and did as his younger sibling told. His heart was racing. He felt shivers down his spine. What was he up to? He felt a soft breath coming closer to his face, and before he knew it he felt a pair of lips onto his. The sweet taste of ice-tea, the warmth inside him bursting out, his heart skipping a beat. Is this too good to be true? Just as sudden as he felt those soft lips on his, they were gone. He opened his eyes again, meeting with Phineas’s. The boy then looked toward Ferb’s hands and held them in his.
“Now you know who I like…” he confessed. The green-haired teenager smiled. The weight fell off of his shoulders. It felt like he could finally breathe again.
“You know… this is not gonna be simple…” Ferb whispered. “People are gonna think this is wrong. Not to mention mom and dad…” Phineas looked up to him, he couldn’t help but smile.
“That’s a risk I wanna take.” Phineas answered his voice soft as ever. He took his hands and placed them onto Ferb’s cheeks before leaning in for one more kiss. “Let’s rewrite the stars tonight.”

Everybody Needs Somebody to Love
When uncle Perry coughs up a whole flower at breakfast, Candace is understandably worried. She's also confused when she realizes that he has no plans to confess his love.
Despite having no idea what's really going on, and being told not to interfere, Candace is determined to get her uncle and his crush together.
Life might not always be a romance novel, but Candace is going to make it as close as possible.
Title from the Blues Brothers song
AO3/FF.net
TW’s for mild blood
The alarm on Candace's bedside table goes off with an obnoxious beeping noise. Candace groans and throws her arm out, attempting to silence the annoying noise. It's a teacher workday, why did she set her alarm?
That's right, she wanted a head-start on her busting. Looking out her window, she sees Phineas and Ferb already building. Perfect.
She rolls out of bed and pulls on her usual outfit before running a brush through her hair. Despite her sleep-deprived brain, she manages to put together a few coherent answers to Stacy's overnight texts before leaving her room.
Candace stumbles down the stairs to the kitchen, barely managing to avoid tripping over her own feet. It's early, and she was awake until almost one in the morning last night.
The only person who's in the kitchen is uncle Perry, who's pouring himself a bowl of cereal. Good morning, he signs.
"Morning," she grumbles, scrubbing at her eyes to rid them of the typical early-morning bleariness. "Where's mom and dad?"
Antiques convention, remember?
Candace sighs. That's right. Mom and dad are at a three-day antiques convention over the long weekend, leaving Perry in charge. Which means no busting. As long as they're safe, Perry's perfectly fine with what the boys create.
If he's ever there to see the creations. He's always getting called off for work.
Candace pulls her mug out of the cupboard, adds a teabag, and sets it next to Perry's, waiting for the kettle to boil. She could use the caffeine.
Stacy texts her back, so she sits down at the table to answer. After she sends the message, she puts her head down on the table. It's too early for anything to happen.
Perry sits down across from her, the bowl making a soft thump against the wood. He snaps his fingers to get her attention.
Candace pries one eye open. "mmm-yeah?"
You should eat.
She shrugs. "After tea."
Suit yourself.
Candace lays her head back on the table. It's still way too early to think about anything.
Perry starts coughing. Candace raises an eyebrow, still not picking her head up off the table. He's been sick since her freshman year, you'd think he'd be fine by now. Or at least that he'd see a doctor. It's kind of weird.
Eh, he's always been weird. He travels all over the place for work. He says he's a sort of special cop, but never wants to talk about his job. He doesn't talk, only makes that weird chattering noise. And he's always really weird about those Hanahaki soap operas, even though they're Candace's favorite.
Still, the cough is rather strange.
Candace opens one eye just in time to see Perry spit an entire white rose flecked with blood into the palm of his hand.
Now fully awake, she watches as he makes a face, gets up, throws the rose into the garbage can under the sink, and starts to wash his hands, unaware of Candace's staring.
Well, that makes sense.
Sort of. There are still a lot of things wrong with this.
Now that she's awake, she might as well eat breakfast. She stands up and moves to the cupboard, getting a bowl out. Setting the bowl down with a purposeful clank (it's never a good idea to startle uncle Perry), Candace turns to get the milk out of the fridge."So when were you going to tell us you had Hanahaki?"
Perry turns around, surprise painted on his face. Candace continues. "Seriously. That was an entire flower. How long have you been hiding this?"
He sighs. Almost two years. Candace gasps. Two years and she never suspected a thing? That was his mysterious sickness? "Who is it?"
Just someone I work with.
"And you never thought to tell us."
I told your parents.
Candace pours milk into the bowl. "I guess that's something. Are you going to confess?"
He looks to the backyard, where Phineas and Ferb are starting to build, and shakes his head. I'm getting it removed in three weeks.
Candace gapes. Removed? After two years of pain and suffering and blood covered roses? "You're just going to give up?" she asks.
Perry shrugs and turns off the tap. He's not interested in me, what else can I do?
"He might be. You never know." Perry raises an eyebrow as he sits back down at the table. "I mean, if Jeremy and I can get together, you and your crush can too," Candace continues.
Life isn't a romance novel. Sometimes it just doesn't work out.
"Have you even tried?"
Like I said, he's not interested.
"I hate to suggest this, but maybe the boys could help out?"
No.
"Why not? I bet they could make your crush have feelings for you."
If it's forced, it would make it even worse.
"It's worth a shot, right?"
No, it's not.
"Really?"
Coughing up flowers isn't fun or cute. He grimaces. It's actually pretty painful.
"You're really no fun."
See, this is why I didn't want to tell anybody. At Candace's affronted look, he continues. I'm an adult, I can deal with my own feelings. If that means getting rid of them, so be it. End of story.
"But-but-but I could help too!"
Perry narrows his eyes. End of story, Candace.
Candace pours her cereal into the milk. "Fine, whatever."
Look, I know you want to help, but I'd prefer to get through the next few weeks without dying.
Candace's eyes go wide. She'd completely forgotten that people could die from Hanahaki. Once they start coughing up full flowers, they've got only a few months left without intervention. "Oh," she says, her voice now small and meek.
It's scary, I know. Trust me when I say the surgery is the best option.
The kettle starts to whistle, so Perry takes it off the stove and pours the hot water into their mugs. Candace sits down at the table and starts to eat. "So there's really nothing else you can do?"
Nothing I can do at this point without making it worse. I suppose if he liked me back then it would be different, but I can't influence that.
A lightbulb goes off in Candace's head. Maybe uncle Perry can't ask this guy about it...but she can. She can convince this guy that Perry would be the best boyfriend ever!
"Tell me about this guy." She'll need some information if she wants to find him.
Well, Perry says, handing Candace her mug, he's got brown hair, blue eyes, and he's about six foot two, although he slouches.
Perry's watch goes off, and Candace groans internally. He always has to go to work at the worst times. "What's his name?"
For a brief moment, Perry looks conflicted. Heinz Doofenshmirtz, he signs.
"Doofenshmirtz like the mayor?"
Perry nods, drinking most of his tea in one gulp. I have to leave.
"Evil never rests, I know." Perry smiles. "Don't worry, I'll make sure nothing explodes while you're gone."
Perry smiles. See you later.
Candace nods and waves. As soon as Perry is in the garage, she puts her bowl of cereal in the sink and darts up the stairs. She grabs her purse out of her room and puts her phone and earbuds in it. She's about to go back down the stairs when she gets another idea.
She has a whole lot of pictures of Jeremy- and she didn't even have Hanahaki. Uncle Perry has to have a picture of his crush somewhere. That will help narrow down the search.
Carefully, she pulls her Ducky Momo 33rd Anniversary Commemorative lock pick out of her purse and picks the lock on the door to his room. She feels a little weird, but this is a love or death situation.
The lock opens with a click, and she opens the door.
The room is about what she expected. Neat, for the most part. There's a stack of cheesy romance novels on the bedside table, a bookmark in one. On his desk, there's a tall stack of paperwork. Several papers are stamped with Classified in red ink, but Candace ignores them. She has other things to look for.
She opens the top drawer of the desk. Pens, sticky notes, and paper clips. The next drawer down holds envelopes, a Classified stamp, and a red ink pad.
The bottom drawer is locked. Once again, her Ducky Momo lock pick comes in handy.
In the drawer is what looks like a grappling hook, a strange red disk, and a green box.
Candace picks up the grappling hook and the disk and puts them on the desk. Gingerly opening the box, she finds it stuffed full of immaculately cleaned white roses, with a few  pictures along the sides.
She looks at the pictures first. Each one has uncle Perry with the same guy. A slouching man with brown hair and blue eyes, dressed in a lab coat.
This must be the guy. Heinz Doofenshmirtz.
But where would she find him? The only connection she knows is that uncle Perry works with him.
That's it. She'll just follow uncle Perry to work. Candace puts one of the pictures and a few of the fresher roses into her purse. On second thought, she adds the grappling hook and the red disk.
She can hear Perry's motorcycle revving in the garage. She closes the drawer, then runs out of Perry's room and down the stairs.
Candace opens the garage door and wheels her bike out. Thank god for Phineas and Ferb outfitting it with rocket boosters, she'll need them to catch up with Perry's motorcycle.
She only makes it to the end of the driveway before she hears a very loud, scary sounding bang come from the backyard. Despite her new mission, her boys-busting senses tell her to investigate.
Nearly trampling Baljeet, she dashes to the gate and throws it open. "What was that?" she demands.
Phineas grins. "It's our new rivet gun! Isn't it cool?"
"Pfft. It's a rivet gun. How cool can it be?"
Ferb merely rivets another piece of metal, producing a similar bang. "Very cool, Candace, very cool," Phineas says.
"Whatever." Candace rolls her eyes and jogs back around the front of the house to her bike. She pedals down to the first stop sign before she realizes that uncle Perry is long gone by now. She'll never be able to catch up to him.
Maybe there's another way she can find his crush. How many Doofenshmirtzes are there in Danville? This Heinz might be related to Mayor Doofenshmirtz somehow.
Downtown Danville, here she comes.
~~~
Candace makes it to City Hall in twenty minutes. She locks her bike to the rack outside and walks in.
"How may I help you?" the bored-looking receptionist asks.
"I'd like to talk to Mayor Doofenshmirtz?" Candace asks.
"Name?"
"Candace Flynn."
"He'll be free in a few minutes. You can wait here." The receptionist points to a small waiting area.
"Thank you," Candace says, and she sits down.
What a day. And it's not even close to being over.
Her phone rings. It's Jeremy. She picks it up right away.
"Hey Jeremy," she says.
"Hey Candace," he says. "I was wondering if you wanted to hang out later today?"
Candace thinks. Yeah, hanging out with Jeremy would be great, but she has a mission. "Sorry, but I'm doing something for uncle Perry today. I might be able to do something tomorrow, though."
Jeremy laughs. "You're such a good niece. See you tomorrow?"
"See you tomorrow."
"Love you."
"Love you." Candace ends the call with a click.
Vanessa Doofenshmirtz walks in the door. "Hey Candace."
"Hi Vanessa," Candace says. "What are you doing here?"
"Oh, I wanted to talk to uncle Roger. He's probably busy, though. What about you?"
"I was waiting to do the same thing. Waiting to talk to the Mayor, at least. He's not my uncle."
"Really." Candace nods. "I don't know if he'll talk to you, he's always crazy busy."
Candace sighs. Maybe this lead won't work out after all.
Except...Vanessa Doofenshmirtz. Related to Roger. Is she related to Heinz?
"So why are you here?" Vanessa asks.
Candace pulls one of the pictures out of her purse, as well as one of the roses. "My uncle Perry," she points at Perry, "has Hanahaki for this guy," she points at the other man, "Heinz Doofenshmirtz. I wanted to ask the mayor, since they have the same last name. Do you know him?"
"Know him?" Vanessa laughs. "He's my dad."
Candace's eyes grow wide. "Your dad? That's perfect! Do you know if your dad likes my uncle? Like, like-likes him?"
Vanessa looks at the flower in Candace's hand. "I'm pretty sure he does, but you'd have to ask him directly."
Another lead. Perfect. "Where is your dad?"
Vanessa shrugs. "Probably at Blueprint Heaven. He's kind of an inventor."
"Thanks so much."
"I should warn you though, he's kind of cold. He'll probably just shrug you off."
Candace shrugs. "I'm not worried."
"Okay, then good luck."
Candace jumps out of her seat. "Thanks, Vanessa. See you later." She stuffs the photo and the rose back in her purse, then walks out the door. She unlocks her bike from the rack and hops on it. Thankfully, Blueprint Heaven isn't too far.
Her legs are burning by the time she makes it to the blueprint store. She peeks inside, watching as a slouching man with brown hair, wearing a lab coat, purchases a few blueprints. That must be him.
As the man leaves the shop, she puts out her arm.
"Hey, watch it, kid," the man says.
"I have something to ask you," Candace says. "Are you Heinz Doofenshmirtz?"
"That's Doctor Doofenshmirtz to you. And if you're selling those Fireside Girl cupcakes, I already bought two dozen."
Candace rolls her eyes and pulls the photo out of her purse. "I want to ask you about this picture."
The man pulls out a pair of reading glasses and studies the picture. "What do you want to ask me?"
Candace points at Perry. "Do you like-like this guy?"
"That's a rather strange question to ask, isn't it?"
"Danville's a strange place."
Dr. Doofenshmirtz shrugs. "You got me there. Y'know, he looks like this other guy I know." He points at the picture. "What's his name?"
"Perry," Candace says.
"Really? I, uh, work with a guy named Perry. Sort of. We're like, work rivals. He's really nice though, even if he doesn't talk much."
Candace's Busting Senses start to tingle. "I wonder if they're the same guy?"
Dr. Doofenshmirtz hums. "Maybe. It'd be just like him to be all mysterious and suave and all that." He pauses to cough into the arm of his lab coat. When he pulls his arm away, the sleeve is red and covered in petals. "Oh, come on, I just washed this one."
"You have Hanahaki?" Candace asks. "Can I see the flowers?"
He looks at Candace funny. "I guess? They're roses, white ones." He wipes one of the petals off on his lab coat and shows it to her. "You know, I googled the meaning, and they mean young love and innocence and all that stuff. I mean, it's like the last thing I'd relate with him."
"So your soulmate is your work rival," Candace clarifies.
"Awkward, right? Man, the universe really has it out to get me."
Candace merely nods along. This...inventor has the same flower as uncle Perry. Another strange coincidence. Or is it? Is there another Heinz Doofenshmirtz in the Tri-State area?
"Listen, it was great talking with you, but I kinda have to go to work now, so..."
Candace nods. "Nice meeting you."
"Likewise," Dr. Doofenshmirtz says, and he walks off down the road.
Hmm. Perry has Hanahaki for a guy named Heinz Doofenshmirtz that he works with. This Heinz (sorry, doctor) Doofenshmirtz has Hanahaki for a guy named Perry that he's work rivals with. Vanessa told her that her dad Heinz likes Perry, and Perry's got a picture of him with his crush Heinz.
They've got to be the same guys.
And they must be pining over each other.
What idiots. Uncle Perry said this was nothing like a romance novel, but it practically is.
Candace watches as Dr. Doofenshmirtz walks into the apartment building shaped like Ferb's head. The one that says Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated on its front...wait, what?
The final pieces click together. Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated. Perry always says "Evil never rests" when he runs off to work. This guy mentioned that he and Perry are work rivals. Could Perry be fighting this guy for work?
No wonder Perry didn't want to get with his crush. If they're on opposite sides of the great Good and Evil debate, dynamics change.
This just got a whole lot more interesting.
Candace is still getting them together. Secret relationships can work.
She sizes up the apartment building. A person on a jetpack flies up to the balcony, landing and disappearing from view. That must be Perry. She runs down the street and tugs on the door of the building.
Damn it, it's one of those buildings where the residents have to buzz people in. She doesn't have time to wait around for someone to let her in. There's got to be another way.
She looks into her purse. The red disk says "Standard Issue Glider" on the bottom, with a button. Good to know, but that won't work right now.
No, the thing she needs right now is the grappling hook. She's afraid of heights, but this will have to work. She's Candace Flynn, she can do whatever she puts her mind to. If that means grappling up the side of a forty-story building, so be it. It's worth it for love. She steps back, pulls the hook out of her purse, and aims it at the balcony.
Thankfully, she's still wearing her bike helmet. She fires the grappling hook towards the balcony. Once it sticks, she presses the button on the side and holds on for dear life. The building flashes by in a rush of purple, then she's landing on the balcony with a thud.
It seems that nobody inside noticed her stunt. Dr. Doofenshmirtz has his back to the balcony, and uncle Perry (in a 1940's fedora) is stuck in a net.
Yep, Good and Evil are clashing in this apartment-slash-lab.
She ducks behind a strange-looking planter. Thankfully, nobody's seen her. She needs a plan.
Maybe she could just go up to them and tell them about each other? No, that wouldn't work.
Throw them a paper airplane? She doesn't really have any paper, except for the photo.
Hmm. What about the roses? Both of them have the same flower, that might spur the connection along.
She peeks around the corner. Uncle Perry and Dr. Doofenshmirtz are fighting now, sparring as if they've done it a thousand times before. Candace bites down on the inside of her cheek to keep herself from cheering.
Uncle Perry lands one more kick, then throws his hat across the room. It hits a big red button on the side of a machine, and the machine promptly explodes. Candace ducks to protect herself from the flying bits of metal.
However, instead of leaving, uncle Perry goes to help Dr. Doofenshmirtz up. They move to another part of the lab, where a small kitchen is. Dr. Doofenshmirtz pours them both glasses of water, handing one to uncle Perry.
Now's the time.
Candace carefully sneaks out of her hiding place. She pulls one of the roses out of her purse, aims, and throws. As soon as the flower leaves her hand, she ducks back behind the wall. After a second, she peeks back around the corner.
Both uncle Perry and Dr. Doofenshmirtz have tried to cover up the rose, thinking it's their own. They both look away from each other. Even from across the way, Candace can tell how flustered Perry's gotten.
She watches as uncle Perry says something, signing much faster than usual. She thinks she catches the signs for "Hanahaki", "love" and "rose", although it's hard to tell from this far away.
He finishes what he has to say and drops his hands into his lap. For twelve seconds (vintage Ducky Momo Awkward Silence Timer), nothing happens.
Then Dr. Doofenshmirtz grabs uncle Perry's tie, pulls him in, and kisses him.
It's all Candace can do to hold back a squeal.
When they part, neither make eye contact for six and a half seconds. Then Perry signs something, making Dr. Doofenshmirtz laugh. Perry leans up and places a short kiss on Dr. Doofenshmirtz's lips. Both men grin broadly.
Yeah, uncle Perry's going to be alright.
Candace pulls another one of the roses out of her purse and throws it at the couple, not bothering to hide this time. This one bounces off the back of Perry's head, causing him to look over at the balcony.
"Enjoy your romance novel ending," she shouts, a broad smile nearly splitting her face in two. Perry gets up from the counter and starts over towards her, a look of shock painted over his face. Candace merely pulls the red disk out of her purse, presses the button on the bottom, and watches as it expands into a red hang glider.
She winks and salutes, then kicks off the ledge to glide off the balcony.
As she glides over Danville, she grins. And uncle Perry said it wouldn't work out. Well, she just proved him wrong.
Something on the glider starts to beep. A tinny voice emanating from a hidden speaker starts to talk. "Warning. Unauthorized use of OWCA tech. Returning to base."
Well, it was fun while it lasted. Candace attempts to let go of the glider as it nears the ground, but cuffs clamp down around her wrists. A rocket engine pops out of the back and steers her in an unknown direction.
Fifteen minutes later, she finds herself in an underground bunker, being stared down by a man with an intimidating mustache and a scrawny intern with a camera. Uncle Perry stands in the background, his hands in his pockets and the beat-up fedora from earlier on his head.
The man with the mustache starts to speak. "Do you know what you've done?'
"I just saved uncle Perry's love life?" she guesses. Behind the intern, Perry shakes his head. Candace can see the amused smile on his face.
The mustached man sighs. "Not quite. Your uncle Perry is actually a top OWCA agent, and as such, his identity must be kept completely secret." Candace considers this. A secret agent, huh? That certainly explains the grappling hook and the hang glider.
Man, being a secret agent would be so cool.
"Candace Flynn," as you have compromised Agent P's position, your memory is going to be wiped."
"What, there's nothing else you can do?"
The intern speaks up. "We could relocate him to another continent, and you'd never see him again." Candace's eyes go wide, and she shakes her head. "Yeah, we figured you'd like the memory wipe option better."
"Anything else you'd like to say, Ms. Flynn?" the mustached man asks.
Candace thinks for a second. "I don't know, I think uncle Perry owes me something."
For a brief second, Perry looks confused. Then he smiles knowingly. Thank you, Candace.
"You're welcome. Now, hit me."
The green ray hits her square in the face, and her mind goes fuzzy.
~~~
Candace steps off the bus. Finally, the last day of school. Phineas and Ferb are throwing a party, and for some odd reason, she doesn't even want to bust them for it.
(That reason has nothing to do with the fact that Jeremy will be there. Nope, nothing at all.)
She runs up the stairs to her backpack down in her room, then runs back out into the backyard.
Phineas and Ferb have already set up rides, food, and of course, live music. Perks of middle school- they get out earlier.
Already, most of the neighborhood has shown up. It's starting to look like it's going to end up being a big block party.
Under the tree in the backyard, uncle Perry and some guy in a lab coat are talking. This must be his boyfriend. When Perry sees Candace, he waves her over.
Candace, I'd like you to meet someone very special to me.

I’ll Be Your Number One With a Bullet | Phony
In which Phineas saves Christmas with the power of song...
[actual tldr: Tony’s fear of fire manifests after he inhales too much fog, Phineas tries to calm him down by singing Fall Out Boy, and they hang for a while despite the fact that they are #nemeses]
Date: 12/21/20
TW for fire (specifically people on fire), panic attacks, self harm/suicidal ideation reference, and description of burn injuries-- basically, all of this was in #darkzapatosrivera so proceed with caution if any of that is not for you.
@rydinger-tony
TONY
The world had gone mad... again... but this time it had dragged Tony down with it.
The fog had rolled in when Tony had been outside, checking his Christmas list on his phone and making sure he had enough money for the things he was planning to purchase. He hadn't noticed it until it was too late. The fog had filled his lungs, the panic sucking all the air out.
 He'd scrambled into Zapotos after everyone else. Voices whispered in his ear, telling him that he was a failure that he was nothing but garbage as well as visions of him burning.
 The visions weren't just visions, though.
 As Tony tried to huddle behind a display to get away from other people he felt his skin heating up. His whole body had flames licking at him. He screamed, trying to pat out the dancing flames but for every one he struck at another one sprung up, singeing his skin.
 "Fuck! Fuck, oh God, no! Please!"
PHINEAS
Phineas had already been in the shop, browsing the sale section and trying to find a pair of slippers in his budget for Lawrence. So he didn't realize something was very wrong until people came rushing into the store. Phineas dropped the shoe he had been looking at, frozen in place.
 And then Tony Rydinger burst into flames.
 Listen, it was one thing to consider a person your nemesis and another thing to see him literally burst into flames in front of your eyes, so of course Phineas was going to try to help. This was Swynlake. "Stay right where you are! Take some deep breaths! I'm going to help!" Phineas yelled to Tony, running into a supply closet and filling up a mop bucket with water from the industrial sink
TONY
He was going to die. He could feel it. Everything in him was screaming it as the flames licked his skin.
 Why was it always fire?
 As a voice yelled out he looked up, wincing through the pain of the flames. If this had been before the fire he would've been annoyed by the guy's presence but right then all he wanted was help.
 "Don't come near me!" He whimpered, tears forming in his eyes. "Fuck," Tony hiccupped, "it-it won't go out!" He couldn't get a deep breath in if he'd tried!
And then Phineas was gone. Tony sobbed, still trying to douse the flames while only managing to burn his palms.
PHINEAS
Phineas could deal with a problem he had to solve, he could deal with throwing a bucket of water on a fire, but this was something else. Something was seriously wrong with Tony-- Phineas had never seen him like this before. Fear seized him and he froze in front of Tony, clutching the bucket as though his life depended on it.
 "It's going to be okay, Tony! I got it!" Phineas shouted, making a first attempt at throwing the water in Tony's direction. Half of the water in the bucket splashed out, some of it hitting Tony and some of it hitting the floor. "You've gotta calm down, man! Let's... name a song!" Phineas ran back into the industrial closet to get more water and came back out with the bucket full again. "You got one?"
TONY
The water splashed onto Tony's face before Phineas' words could even process. His hair clung to his face, his shirt to his chest, and the flames dimmed for a moment before coming back with a vengeance, causing him to cry out in pain.
 "It's not gonna work!" He yelled, his throat already hurting from the smoke that was coming off of the flames. It wasn't even that much, more the memories that paired with the smell of smoke that were getting to him. "A song?!" He snapped as Phineas ran off again and came back with more water. "What the fuck are you talking about?" He coughed, the flames licking at his face when he tried to cover his mouth. "I'm gonna die!"
PHINEAS
Phineas had no idea if this was going to work. It was just an extremely stupid thought that had popped into his head in his panic. But he needed to calm Tony down if this was going to work. His panic only seemed to make the fire come back stronger. "You're not going to die!" Phineas threw another bucket of water at Tony and ran back into the supply closet for more.
The thing was, if he didn't get Tony to calm down, the fire wasn't going to stop flaring up. No matter how many times he put it out.
 "You like Fall Out Boy, right?!" Phineas shouted.
TONY
Time was both speeding by him and frozen still. Tony didn't know what to do, didn't know how he could possibly survive this. A small part of his brain was simply thankful that it was just Tony.
Not the building... not other people... just Tony.
 As more water coated Tony there was a moment of relief before the flames kicked back in and he cried out. "It's no use!" He choked out, barely able to see the other student through the tears in his eyes. The question was absurd, shocking his system enough for him to answer with a simple "Y-Yeah?" It was one of the only things that he remembered sharing in common with Phineas.
 "So?!"
PHINEAS
Either Tony was going to kill Phineas or Phineas was going to save Tony's life.
 Or maybe both. But it was a risk Phineas was willing to take. Because no matter how off-the-wall, Phineas really thought this idea was going to work. One thing he liked about Swynlake, despite all of the craziness that went down there, was that crazy problems demanded crazy solutions.
 "I swear I'm not fucking with you. Just trust me!" Phineas announced, throwing another bucket and then running to get more.
 He took a deep breath. "Be careful making wishes in the dark!" he started, the song coming out hoarse and strangled and more of a yell than actual singing.
"Can't be sure when they've hit their mark! Come on, Tony, do it, it'll help!" At worst, maybe pissing Tony off would distract him enough from Tony's fear?
TONY
Tony could hear the whispers in his ear, which were more like full-blown voices now, telling him to give up, to just roll over and die. He didn't have a way out! This was magic, had to be, and Tony had never fared well competing against that.
 Magic was good for nothing but bringing him pain.
Tony's attempts to put himself slowed, his eyes wide with terror. Just trust me! Part of Tony, the petty part, wanted to tell Phineas to fuck off, to just leave him to die, but the rest of Tony wanted to survive.
Phineas was... well, Tony wouldn't call that singing but... trying to. Tony recognized it at Fall Out Boy's My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark. He didn't really want to contribute, thought it sounded completely mental, but what the hell would it hurt?
 "And besides in the mean-meantime, I'm just dreaming of tearing you apart. I'm in the de-details with the devil so now, the world can never get me on my level..." The song barely left his lips, his hands having stopped trying to fight the fire as half of him had accepted his fate.
PHINEAS
Tony was singing! That was something! The problem was that singing alone wasn't going to work-- the point of the singing was to distract Tony. To get him thinking about something else. Either reliving his memories of listening to Fall Out Boy (ideally) or thinking about pummeling Phineas's face into the shiny Zapatos Rivera floor (less ideal... but at least he wouldn't be on fire...?)
 He had to get more water, but he couldn't stop singing. Not if he wanted to keep Tony grounded. Phineas didn't want to think about what might happen if he stopped. "Keep going!" Phineas shouted, running over to the supply closet and yelling the next lines as he did. He returned a few seconds later with a half-filled bucket again. "Gonna need a spark to ignite! My songs know what you did in the daaaark!" He shouted, then threw another bucketfull, his heart racing out of control. "So light 'em up, up, up! Come on Tony, I know you can do this! Light em up up up!"
TONY
Phineas' encouragement didn't necessarily make Tony feel better but he certainly was distracted. He sang along with the other, kind of while Phineas ran for more water. He was drenched now, the cold water feeling good against the burning heat his skin was experiencing. It was weird, being soaked to the bone and still on fire.
 Realizing the next line was I'm on fire did earn a glare Phineas' way, deciding to skip it straight into the next verse instead. This was embarrassing enough. "The writers keep writing what they write, somewhere another pretty vein just died-died. This is stupid! I've got the scars from tomorrow and I wish you could see that you're the antidote to everything except for me..."
Tony squeezed his eyes shut, the flames burning them. "Phineas, this isn't going to work!" His heart was sinking and he pulled his knees to his burning chest, looking much like the kid he pretended not to be
PHINEAS
Okay, so maybe this wasn’t the right song, Phineas realized, as they got to the “fire” part— so much for being distracting.
 “It is! Hold on!” Phineas shouted,  running for more water and coming back to throw it. This was bad. Tony was losing hope and Phineas’s ideas weren’t working and frustrated, panicked tears were pricking at Phineas’s eyes. He didn’t want to see Tony like this. He wanted to go back to hating him like normal rivals did. And instead here he was, screaming a song and trying to save his life.
“AM I MORE THAN YOU BARGAINED FOR YET!” he screamed, switching to a song that had gotten him through a lot of early teen angst. This one had to work. “*I’VE BEEN DYING TO TELL YOU—“
TONY
Tony could barely see now, could barely think with the voices in his ears and flames singeing his skin and Phineas' constant noise. He felt overwhelmed, felt like he couldn't breathe, and that would honestly be fine if Phineas got himself away from him.
"Don't..." His voice cracked, undercut by a sob. "Just go..." He was going to die, kind of wanted it to happen honestly. Maybe this was for the best. He'd had a long run and he was so tired anyway...
The song change did startle him, the intensity of the other teen shaking him slightly. "--anything you want to hear 'cause that's just who I am this week. Lie in the grass, next to the mausoleum, I'm just a notch in your bedpost but you're just a line in a song..."
Eyes still shut, Tony tried to pretend he was just in his flat, listening to a vinyl, instead in the middle of another town crisis... "Drop a heart, break a name... We're always sleeping in, and sleeping for the wrong team..."
PHINEAS
“COME ON, YOU’VE GOT IT!” Phineas shouted as he splashed the rest of the bucket on Tony. He couldn’t tell if the flames were subsiding, but Tony was more focused now, and that had to count for something.
 “WE’RE GOING DOWN, DOWN IN AN EARLIER ROUND! SUGAR WE’RE GOING DOWN SWINGING!” Phineas’s voice cracked and he wiped the tears off his face, running to get more water and barely filling up the bucket a quarter of the way because it would take too long. “I’LL BE YOUR NUMBER ONE WITH A BULLET!”
TONY
Was this stupid? Yes. Was Tony kinda being cheered up by how intense Phineas was? Also yes. Tony shivered with the water, not noticing the flames weren't quite as large this time when they came back. He kept his eyes shut, picturing his flat and his record player.
 "A loaded god complex, cock it and pull it. We're goin' down, down in an earlier round and Sugar, we're goin' down swinging. I'll be your number one with a bullet. A loaded god complex, cock it and pull it." Yeah, this one felt better, his heart slowing just a little as he focused on what was going.
 The next splash of water caused Tony to wince, though the flames were once again less roaring than they'd started out. Maybe Phineas was onto something but Tony tried not to think of anything but this Happy Place scenario he'd built in his head.
 "Is this more than you bargained for yet?
PHINEAS
This was more than Phineas had bargained for.
 "DON'T MIND ME I'M WATCHING YOU TWO FROM THE CLOSET!" Phineas shouted over his shoulder as he got up to go get more water. The flames were going down! But he couldn't give up yet. The only thing keeping Phineas from breaking down right now was the knowledge that this was working, it had to be working, and it was because his crazy idea had somehow, improbably worked.
 He let himself take more time to fill up most of the bucket this time, now that Tony seemed to be slightly more okay. Slightly. That wasn't saying much.
 He ran back in, bucket swinging, water spilling out as Phineas's arms trembled. "DROP A HEART! BREAK A NAME!" he shouted on his way back, throwing some more water on Tony. "WE'RE ALWAYS SLEEPING IN!"
TONY
Tony tucked his face into his knees, the flames in that spot of his chest actually not having come back. He didn't register it, didn't have it in him to take that mental awareness on. He also couldn't have ever imagined that he'd be in a situation like this with Phineas fucking Flynn.
 Tony almost got knocked over by the force of the water, steam coming off his body as though he were breathing outside. The flames still came back, yes, but they looked more like the burning embers of a dying fire.
 "And sleeping for the wrong team. We're goin' down, down in an earlier round and Sugar, we're goin' down swinging..."
 He poked his head up, his body shaking, to look at Phineas. "Wh-Why're you doing this?" There's got to be a catch, the voices whispered in the back of his mind.
PHINEAS
Phineas laughed, not in amusement but in sheer surprise that it was working. It was actually working! The fire was dying, Tony was coming back, and nobody was going to die. "Don't ask! Keep singing!" he said, crouching down and handing the half-full bucket to Tony this time instead of throwing it at him. He had gotten enough water thrown on him, Phineas figured, and maybe having the water himself would make him feel more in control.
 "I'll be your number one with a bullet! A loaded god complex cock it and pull it!" Phineas continued, not feeling the need to scream it anymore, instead trying to make eye contact with Tony and keep him focused. "Down, down! In an earlier round! See? It's okay! It's gonna work!"
TONY
The laughter caused Tony to flinch, the voices whispering that Phineas was laughing at him and just buying time to do something worse! Don't trust him! Tony shook his head, trying to shake them from his brain. Even if they were true, at least Tony wasn't dying from the fire anymore.
 He took the bucket with confusion and distrust, glancing down at the water inside. He slowly poured the bucket over his shoulders and back, the chill allowing him to take a deep breath, though shaky.
 Tony was bad at maintaining eye contact, his nerves shot. He did nod, though, along with Phineas' words. He didn't feel the need to to continue the lyrics though. There was a slight sizzling noise coming off of Tony and he found he could breathe much easier.
He glanced down, seeing that, other than a few spots where the embers still glowed menacingly, the fire had subsided.
 "Holy shit.."
PHINEAS
Phineas felt like he could finally stop, which was good, because he couldn’t really remember how the song ended. “Uh... sorry about all that. I just figured, you know, something familiar would help? And you were saying you liked Fall Out Boy earlier this week...” He trailed off, feeling a little awkward now that he had slowed down enough to think about what was going on.
 It was really, really weird to see your enemy at his worst. Because Phineas didn’t like Tony, but he didn’t wish that on anyone.
 He needed to keep Tony calm, though. And Phineas knew that when he was stressed or freaking out, he needed distractions. It wasn’t that Phineas necessarily felt like he was close enough to Tony to really help him. But what else was he going to do, let the guy burst into flames again? “So, like, what’s your favorite album?”
TONY
Tony's body shook, whether that was from the cold or the shock he couldn't be sure. He tried not to let his teeth chatter as he hugged his body more firmly, the bucket discarded to the side now that it was empty.
 You probably ruined the floors, idiot. Imelda works so hard! Can't believe you fuck everything up, this is why you deserved to die.
 "D-Don't apologize," Tony mumbled looking between his classmate and the floor. "Yeah, uh, we-we agreed on that on Twitter. Thought it was... weird..." He honestly didn't expect to have much in common with Phineas. To be fair, he didn't always feel like he had things in common with most people.
 "From Under the Cork Tree, um... It's... Funny that you, uh, sang that song since.." It was one of the most popular ones on that album. "I've got it on vinyl, sounds better than the digital release." He scanned Phineas' face, looking for the cruelty that the voices insisted lied behind his eyes. "What's yours?"
PHINEAS
"That's a really good one! Like, classic. That's why I switched to it, I feel like everyone knows the words," Phineas continued, encouraged by the fact that Tony was talking to him rather than telling him to leave. Maybe everything would be fine. Never mind the chaos that was going on around him. He wasn't necessarily as brave as he liked to pretend he was, but this was something he knew he was good at. Talking. And if that could save him, he was sure as hell going to keep doing it.
 "But I think, like, this probably makes me sound like a fake fan, but it's gotta be Save Rock and Roll for me. That was the album that got me into them, and then I went back and listened to all of the old stuff. That was, um, kind of a rough couple years for me, so it was good to have music that you could just kind of yell, you know?"  That was right after Phineas's dad had left, when the Flynn house was at its most disjointed and awkward nobody had really known what to do with themselves. Loud music was strangely calming. It was why Phineas had figured it might work for Tony.
 Wait, why was he going there? This was Tony. Phineas stopped himself before he could get into the whole story. "Wish I had a record player, man. That'd be totally sick. I'd love to hear Save Rock and Roll on vinyl."
TONY
Hearing someone else's real voice certainly felt better than the viciousness that was ringing in his ears.. Even if the real voice matched one of the fictitious. Phineas' voice had joined all of Tony's internal persecutors after the town hall disaster, the harsh tone the compelled teen had used sticking around longer than Tony would like to admit.
 "Yeah, uh, definitely one of those... feel good... songs.." Tony blinked, unsure where they were going with this. He tilted his head as Phineas spoke, his cheek resting against his knees. His shirt was toast, quite literally with how many burned holes were visible. Surprisingly his skin wasn't as burned as he would've expected, sitting closer to second degree than the third he would have thought.
 You deserved worse. You're a monster, Anthony Rydinger, Phineas saw it and everyone else will too. Just give them time.
 "I like that one too. I, um, I like Infinity On High too? It's probably my, uh, second favorite. Definitely similar vibes to Under The Cork Tree if that's your thing." He shrugged, the ache of his injuries screaming at him to stop. "I think everyone should listen to vinyl. Digital doesn't have the same character. Wilbur thinks I'm a hipster... I have that record too. I, um, have them all on vinyl. I rarely get digital anything."
 Tony might have hated Phineas but the bloke had saved his life. The least he could do was humor the conversation. "What's your favorite song on Save Rock and Roll? Mine's The Phoenix, as cliché as it is to say the first track."
PHINEAS
Phineas was glad that Tony didn't stay on the topic of Wilbur. Even if Phineas was willing to temporarily suspend his dislike for Tony for the sake of both of their lives, he was still pretty mad at Wilbur for almost getting him fired from his internship (the way Phineas saw it, anyway). And he knew he needed to stay level-headed, since hardly anyone else in the building was.
 "Okay, mine's probably even more cliche. Young Volcanoes," Phineas chuckled. He didn't think his taste in music was highly basic, but he thought the singles were popular for a reason. And Young Volcanoes objectively slapped. "But, like, for an eleven-year-old? That was life-changing. How'd you get into them, anyway?"
TONY
"Young Volcanoes is sick," Tony chuckled weakly. "But, yeah, a bit cliché. Doesn't make the song slap any less." Tony didn't really care about what people thought about singles versus other songs on an album, certain songs were just good no matter how overplayed they could be.
He raised a hand painfully to run his fingers through his hair, his heart racing as he tried to come up with a lie for this situation. Usually his lies were more readily accessible but the panic had fried his brain. The fire had done more damage than Tony had registered.
"I, uh, my dad was really into this shit," Tony lied awkwardly, the words feeling just as wrong as they were. His father had been anything but musical. "Um, exposed me to... like... jazz and shit. Music's... cool..."
God, Tony, stop talking.
PHINEAS
Phineas didn't really think he and Tony were bonding. This wasn't a friendship, this was a life or death situation. But it was kind of cool that they both agreed on one thing. The thing about Tony was that he wasn't a difficult person to have a conversation with. Even in SSIC they agreed on a lot of things. There was just a lot of bad history between them, too much to easily patch up just by both liking Fall Out Boy.
"That's awesome. My mom's probably who I got my taste in music from. Like, she loves 80s pop and rock, kind of the new wave stuff, all the greats. That's why I love that original version of Last Christmas and I can't stand the covers. Wham's the best," Phineas said, laughing quietly. "Fall Out Boy I totally found on my own, though. Just, like, messing around on the Internet when I was a kid. I would go on all these random forum sites. Those were the days."
TONY
What's he trying to gain here? What do you think you're doing? Why are you talking about this with Phineas? Do you think he cares? You're an idiot. You're a monster. You're nothing!
Tony tugged on his hair as subtly as possible, trying to give his system a jolt to derail those thoughts. It usually worked. Small doses of pain adding a level of clarity when he needed it.
"Yeah, uh, my mum was into more that music." Another lie, another painful stab to his heart. He felt his pulse beginning to rise again the more he lied, the guilt eating away at him. "I've got a... large record collection. Probably the coolest thing I own."
Tony raised a brow at Phineas when he mentioned Last Christmas, remembering Pip's torturous playlist. "Did you actually listen to the others or did you save yourself? I.. made an attempt. Wham's is the classic, can't really... I dunno. Christmas music's weird." How many covers of things had he heard in his day?
"That's... nice, though. Discovering new music's... my favorite thing. If I could just listen to music for forever I'd be happy." He was rambling now, his hands fidgety and his eyes darting around the room. "All I want in the world, really."
PHINEAS
That gave Phineas an idea. He pulled out his phone, which was now blowing up with messages (he fired a quick “I’m fine, in Zapatos” to the family group chat) and then opened up Spotify. He handed it to Tony, even though, under any other circumstances, he would never just give his phone to Tony.
“You wanna put something on?” he offered. “I have Premium so, like, sky’s the limit!” He gesturef vaguely. “But yeah, I got like five in before I had to stop. My brain was about to explode. Pip really knows how to torture a guy.”
TONY
Tony's brow furrowed as Phineas handed him the phone. He looked down at it, staring at the Spotify screen. It was hard for him, ordinarily, to just play music for people. His records made it easier, sorted by decade, but Spotify had much more. Plus... it wasn't like he exactly knew what Phineas liked.
"Uh... Thanks..." He hesitated only a moment longer before typing Good Charlotte into the search bar and finding their album Good Morning Revival. He didn't know if Phineas would approve or not but he'd given him free reign.
"Pip's too clever for all of us, but yeah. It's torture." He looked up at the ceiling, his bones rattling and his heartrate spiking. The music was helping but he wasn't okay.
"Do... Do you hear that?" He asked, not looking Phineas' way. "The... The whispering? Or.. or seeing the shadows on the walls moving?"
PHINEAS
Phineas looked around, but he didn’t see anything. He knew there must be some kind f dark magic, though, maybe something that wasn’t affecting him. He would have to investigate... not now, though. Someone had to stay with Tony.
“No, but I think I got lucky... Don’t worry about it. We beat the hard part, right?” Phineas said optimistically, trying to hide the nerves bubbling up in him. “Just focus on the music and stuff. This is a good album. Even though I was, like, 3 when it came out. You were probably even younger than that, huh? You ever feel like, wow, I wish I was a teenager when this stuff came out so you could hear it at parties?”
TONY
Tony shut his eyes, tugging on his hair again. The shadows seemed to be behind his very own eyelids so he opened them once again. Of course, Tony was the only one freaking out like this.
Cool, great, lovely. You're losing it, Tony, congratulations!
"R-Right, yeah... the... flames." He shuddered. Phineas' upbeat tone reminded him of Ian's. That helped at least. "Yeah, I was... two.." Tony lied again, his skin crawling with each passing lie.
He's gonna know, he's going to know you're lying!
"It would've been... great, yeah, I'm sure that this album was really popular then." He began to scratch at his skin, his singed arms screaming at him both to scratch and not to scratch from the pain. "Can you imagine, though? Swynlake must've been so different!"
It wasn't.
PHINEAS
Phineas could tell that Tony was getting worked up again and he couldn’t tell if it was something he said or something else going on. He glanced around at the room, which was in total chaos, but nothing extraordinary seemed to be happening.
Maybe it was time to change the topic, though. “Yeah, totally. I mean, it wouldn’t have any of the cool stuff we have now— Pizza Planet, and Imperial City, and Chippamunka— You know what I love? The milkshakes there, those are amazing. I like the vanilla ones, but when they have orange cream swirl those are the best.• Phineas was back to rambling, partially out of nerves and partially because he thought it might help to distract Tony.”
TONY
Phineas' ramblings did help drown out the voices for the most part, Tony putting his focus on hearing each and every word. He nodded, trying to maintain eye contact with him. That didn't work but an effort had been made.
"Yeah, I, uh, l-like those... b-but they're r-rootbeer floats are better." He stuttered nervously. "Th-They've got the, uh, glass bottles. Better qu-quality." This was better, he thought, better than the vibrations he felt in his very bones that he was going to shake apart.
Among all the voices swirling in his head, one of them lashed out louder now, as though it were spoken aloud: You just walk around with that stupid smirk on your face, like you're better than everyone else. Well, you know what? I'm tired of it! Everyone's tired of it! And someone had to snap you out of it! He flinched away from the teen, as though the other had struck him once again.
"Y-You don't have to do this... I-I'll be fine, why do you even care?"
PHINEAS
The real answer was that Phineas didn't want to see Tony go all spontaneous-combustion again and also that the only thing keeping him from totally panicking right now in this situation was having a modicum of control over it. He had a strategy (sort of) and it was working (mostly) and, being a solution-oriented person, a "fixer," that was what Phineas needed to cope. In other words, he kind of needed to be the superhero.
But he didn't want to tell Tony the first thing lest it lead to him going up in flames again, and he didn't know how to explain the second thing because it wasn't an actual thought he had, just a vague feeling. So instead he said something kind of silly:
"Well... SSIC's gotta stick together, right?" Phineas said, as though it were the most obvious thing in the world. "I take my role as your co-president really seriously, I promise. I mean, we've had our differences, but it's the decent thing to do... And, like, yeah, you punched me and stuff, but you're not, like... a bad guy. Clearly."
Actually, Phineas wasn't totally sold on that last point, but high road, right? They were kind of getting somewhere.
TONY
To say that Tony didn't trust Phineas would be... an understatement... and the SSIC statement didn't exactly help Phineas' case given the last time they were involved in something magical Phineas had been near him because of that.
I've got something for you!
Another wince, another flinch, and Tony was scratching at his arms despite the blisters that were forming. It hurt, yes, it hurt like hell... but he also couldn't stop. His skin itched, whether that was from the burns or his own psychosis he couldn't be sure.
The shapes moved again and Tony watched them across the walls. "Right, yeah, sticking together..." He didn't believe it. "Pip was... really determined I joined." He'd been told he didn't have to do a damn thing for this club.
"So you're saying you don't wanna punch me again?" He didn't believe that either.
"Um... I didn't... I'm not entirely sorry I punched you but I know I shouldn't've done it. So... sorry for that at least." He admitted with a painful shrug.
Hey, it was a start
PHINEAS
Phineas shook his head. "We'll talk about it later. But thanks. And no, of course I'm not going to punch you," he said quickly, really not wanting to get into that in the middle of all of this. It didn't seem like the right time to make up, or to dredge up all of those uncomfortable feelings of guilt and loss of control and fear that came with being compelled, or to talk about the weeks following at school when Phineas felt like he was looking over his shoulder every minute.
With how paranoid Tony looked right now, Phineas was really glad he had been spared whatever spell was spreading through the bookstore.
"Let's talk about something else. What are you doing for the holidays? Anything exciting? You celebrate Christmas?"

Ella's mother calls her clever at least twice that I heard.
LITTLE ELLA HAS A LEGIT FULL SIZED CAROUSEL HORSE IN HER BEDROOM??? And with that, it looks like there was at least 1 puppet stage, what I can only assume to be a carousel music box but it's built like a Christmas Pyramid, a mobile, and a canopy bed.
The way she and her dad both say thank you this must have been very difficult for you when they get news the one they love is dying???
The Just So and Shall We lines repeat too.
The dress she's wearing when her father returns and when her mother's dying are the same, it just had fake flowers on it when he returns.
We see 3 different Ella's walking with her father toward the meadow. There's little Ella in Black after her mother dies, then what I assume is teenage Ella in a white or blue floral dress sand her hair work to the side and flowing over her shoulder, and then Lily.
Ella lets her shoes hand off her feet a lot
Her physical reaction to her father mentioning Lady Tremaine even before he says anything about marriage.
That butterfly comb will never NOT remind me of Rose's in Titanic.
I can't see anyone in that time period actually making their day Lucifer???
I hate Lady Tremaine's black hat when we first meet her.
The way Ella smiles and laughs for her father and then visibly deflates the instant he turns around KILLS me.
When the Tremaines arrive, Ella's mother's portrait is on the bookshelf in the study/parlor/whatever that room is where she died.
Drisella tells Anastasia their mother's lying about the house being charming and says it's just manners. Anastasia tells her to shut up.
The look Ella's father gives Anastasia when she says they never thought to decorate, and how he looks back at Ella.
Before he leaves on that last trip, Ella KNOWS he isn't well and she can tell something going to happen.
Why the fuck does Tremaine get so jealous of hearing about Ella's mother when she CLEARLY doesn't love her father?
The way Anastasia and Tremaine both look at Drisella after the complexion line kills me.
Like... Tremaine legit kept up a smile until the carriage pulled away and it was gone in less time than it took to blink.
The harp just sitting in the corner. Totally Ella's mother's. Js.
When Tremaine banishes her to the attic, it sounds like Ella was going to say something about staying in a smaller room?
By the time Ella and Tremaines talk in the study/parlor, all of her things, her father's things, and her mother's things are packed up and set aside, including the portrait of her mother. Suspicious much?
Anastasia and Drisella have toys. At first, we are Anastasia holding a doll and Drisella a rabbit, but they switch later.
Casual reminder that Ella's the youngest, since Anastasia calls her their little sister.
I want a full version of Lily singing Sing Sweet Nightingale and Lavender's Blue.
There are flower decorating and motifs all over this house. The walls. The clothes. Even in the stone wall in the kitchen.
Ella's look at Drisella while she's singing. And like... Tremaine herself tells her to shut up, but she gets mad at Ella for being like cringe.
Ella immediately knows as soon as she opens the door and see Farmer John.
Tremaine is a damn good actress though. Her eyes treating when they get the news.
THE BEEHIVES ARE SO CUTE.
That red bedroom of Tremaine's is so garish though.
Another casual reminder: ELLA NEVER GOT TO PROPERLY MOURN HER FATHER BECAUSE SHE WAS WORKING 24/7.
I imagine the scraps they gave her to eat lessened as time went on and they had less food and money. But she always shared them, no matter how meager.
Jacqueline is iconic.
A GIANT POT OF LAVENDER IS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE STAIRS TO THE ATTIC FROM THE KITCHEN.
Gods that robe of Tremaine's is AWFUL.
"Is there someone we've forgotten" They're dehumanizing her already. What a cunt.
Ella riding barebacked and workout reigns will never NOT impress me tbh.
Convince me the stag wasn't a test for both Ella and Kit from Fairy godmother.
Gods Richard was PERFECT in this role. And every time I hear his real accent I'm shook.
Kit's fucking whipped from the start.
Ella only calls him Kit. You can't tell me otherwise.
His sympathy when she says "They treat me as well as they're able". Tell me that this like doesn't ring in his head later and that's why he knows she's been stopped from coming to him.
RICHARD'S DIMPLES
IT'S KIT. KIT. I'M KIT. You absolute fucking disaster of a man 🤣🤣
And you know the Captain never lets him live that down.
Kit goes away a little and comes back when he says he hopes to see her again.
Ella's little lip bite.
Gods those blue and yellow split outfits on the palace staff are ATROCIOUS.
The banter with Kit and the King. And Kit and Ella in the secret garden.
MASTER PHINEAS.
Why are Kit's outfits so attractive?? 🥺
Kit and the king are so short compared to the Captain and the Grand Duke.
The Captain's laugh.
"That's very kind of you. To think of me." My poor baby.
THE LOOKS AFTER SHE CLAPS BACK IN FRENCH. SLAY.
Also, "I speak French not Italian".
Kit, honey you can say it's for the people all you want. You're not fooling anyone.
What the actual fuck does moonface even mean??
Ella making her dress in a day??? Damn girl.
I love Fairy godmother's beggar woman cloak???
Gods I HATE Lady Tremaine.
Ella's pink dress swear her mother's wedding dress like in the deleted song from the cartoon. And this is the hill I'll die on.
"Hairy dogfather" JFC.
I'd have liked the whole fairy godmother getup better without those dinky little wings tbh.
Ella not knowing what cantaloupe is.
MR. FUCKING GOOSE.
I'm sorry, but the lizard footmen creep me out. THEY DIDN'T NEED TO GIVE THEM THOSE TEETH LIKE WTF.
Ok but like... Would the greenhouse have been repaired at midnight though???
Honestly, Disney deprived us all of Lily being trapped in the pumpkin a la the Cinderella episode of Britannica's Tales Around the World with Pat Morita.
WHY TRANSFORM THE MICE. IT'S A FARM. THEY HAVE HORSES.
"I can't drive, I'm a goose" is my favorite line.
Unpopular opinion??? But I liked the ballgown better either without the butterflies or during the transformation when there was only those few blue ones.
I do like the gold butterflies in the slippers though.
I want to know how they got the crystals to stay in Lily and Helena's hair.
Sitting in a crinoline must be awful.
The palace is stunning.
I love every single one of the chandeliers in this movie.
The king waves at Chelina and Kit KNOWS.
The girl on the staircase next to the Tremaines when they get introduced laughs at them. And honestly, same.
"Someone I meet once TONIGHT".
For real, how did the guards at the stairs not hear Ella's name or that her footman was a lizard? They were like not even 5 feet away.
Ella playing with her skirt when she happy and scared.
KIT'S SMILE.
I wish we saw more of the purple in the ballgown.
I love that Ella's descent had Lavender's Blue and the dance has Once Upon A Dream in the score.
The Captain HAD to have told Kit that the Grand Duke already promised him to Chelina. And who gave him the right to do that anyway?
Kit's stammering.
Ella's gasp when he takes her waist and the way she looks at him is like the signature Lily shot. They did the same thing in War & Peace.
"They're all looking at you. Believe me they're all looking at YOU".
The one part in the dance where they kinda flap their arms up and down reminds me of a butterfly and idk why.
Dancing wearing a sword had to be tough. Especially when your partner's in a crinoline and a heavy ass dress. Props to Richard.
Lily tripping at one point during the dance.
Even Chelina loves Ella let's be real here.
Why is there so much telling people to shut up in this movie???
WE GOTTA FACE FACTS HERE, KIT AND ELLA ARE EVEN BETTER AND MORE LOVING PARENTS THAN THEIR OWN WERE.
I love the secret garden scene so much.
When Kit puts the shoe on her foot... Why is that like 😏😏. I hate feet. Why is that breathtakingly romantic??
Why do they always hesitate? GO AFTER HER IMMEDIATELY DAMN IT.
The crier's aids when he hits his head on the stairs.
Ella's interaction with the king.
Kit you're so slow. She's in glass heels and a crinoline and she still outran you.
DISNEY I WANT A DIRECTOR'S CUT OF THE FILM WITH ALL THE DELETED SCENES PUT BACK IN. I NEED KIT SAYING THE LADY ISN'T HERE TO DEFEND HERSELF.
They honestly don't see the footman using his coat tails to lower the portcullis??
Anastasia actually seemed pretty nice to Ella after the ball? Saying she looked cheerful and patting her arm? But then again, we really only see Tremaine and Drisella ripping the dress soooo?
ELLA YOU CAN'T KEEP A SECRET TO SAVE YOUR LIFE.
Girl you need a better hiding place than under the floorboards.
But like the music in the attic after the ball is so sweet???
KIT AND HIS FATHER. THANK YOU FOR LETTING HIM CRY AND SAY I LOVE YOU.
Also like... Notice that Tremaine's Just so to Ella's father was really patronizing and condescending. Ella's to Kit was insecure and uncertain. But the king's to Kit was proud.
At least Kit's not dumb. He's meet this girl multiple times. He don't need a shoe to tell him it's her.
WHY RIP THE ORIGAMI BUTTERFLY THOUGH.
Ella was full on ready to die in that attic to save Kit.
Why do all they guys' pants fit really well except Stellan's? His are loose and baggy.
Y'all know this girl is young and blonde wtf.
Also, fun fact. The girl that asks the Captain if she can try the other foot is Mimi Ndiweni. She played Fringilla in The Witcher on Netflix.
The Grand Duke turning away from the old lady, but the Captain letting her yet the slipper on anyway. 🥺
I want to know where in the line Kit was hiding.
Also how many takes they had to do of Sophie and Holliday trying the slipper on. Cause I wouldn't have been able to do it without laughing. Especially at Holliday's face.
Like... Even if the plan had gone down the way the Grand Duke and Tremaine wanted, I don't see him keeping his word to make her a counted and get good marriages for Anastasia and Drisella.
"YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN AND YOU NEVER WILL BE MY MOTHER".🗣️🗣️
Ella and Kit is my favorite score in the whole movie.
You know, the girls actually seen happy for Ella. Especially Anastasia. Her and Ella getting along better like in Dreams Come True is canon ok.
NEVER GONNA GET OVER KIT AND ELLA WEARING THEIR PARENTS' RINGS.
I love Ella's wedding gown.
Where did they get all those flowers in the winter though 😂

Barlyle ficlet: Rewrite Everything
→ Read in AO3
Reminder: Every Barlyle fic I write will be a canon divergence where Charity has already passed away because I love her too much to let P.T. cheat on her.
(I got #6 twice from this prompts list.  That’s it.  This is practically a Rewrite the Stars Barlyle version.)
6. Hey, hey, calm down.  They can’t hurt you anymore.
29. I need you to stay here with me.
Phillip was in the hospital for days, weeks even, after the fire.
Anne was there almost every day, along with P.T. and the Barnum girls. Anne, because it was her Phillip tried to save that night. Phineas, because it was him who carried Phillip out of the fire.  The weight of guilt was still heavy on her shoulders while the weight of Phillip’s limp body had never left his arms.  Anne slept there some nights.  P.T. took turn some days.  They couldn’t leave the man alone; they couldn’t bring themselves to.
“Thank you,” Anne whispered one afternoon, “For everything.”
“Thank you,” P.T. replied absentmindedly, “For being here.”
Anne glanced at him, curious. “Why?”
“He passed out trying to find you,” was P.T.’s answer. “Better let him wake up seeing you than anyone else.”
Anne stared at him.  P.T. sighed and eventually teared his eyes away from Phillip to look back at her.  Something was stirring behind her irises, soft and warm; fondness and amusement, maybe, P.T. wasn’t sure what he was looking for.
Then she smiled for the first time in many days. “You guys are dense.”
“Pardon me?”
“You weren’t here for far too long, Barnum,” she continued. “I suppose you have no idea what happened during your absence.”
P.T. frowned.
“Enlighten me,” he said.
Anne let out a soft chuckle. “What if we rewrite the stars?” she asked. “Who would you say to be the one he was meant to find?”
P.T. shook his head slightly. “He would rewrite everything just to be with you.”
“He’s my best friend, Barnum; my brother,” Anne said. “Remember that.  And remember who he has risked everything for – who he will follow – and who changed his whole life.” She rose up from the bedside chair and looked at him in the eye. “There were protesters and there were nightmares, Barnum.  We witnessed them all but no one was in the position to make it right but you.” She patted him on the cheek, added, “Fix it.”
P.T. didn’t say anything after that.  Anne didn’t need him to.
  When Phillip finally woke up, he found Anne first.  When he fell asleep again that night, he wasn’t aware of P.T.’s presence sitting beside him. When he regained his consciousness in the morning, Anne was already there to take care of him, while the other man was nowhere to be found.
Things went that way for several days.  Sometimes, P.T. wondered what happened while he was away trying to recover the circus from ashes and make it all up to the crew.  He wanted to know how Phillip was; how he felt, what he thought, what they discussed, everything he missed.
He wanted to see the glint in those baby blues again; the fire, the passion, the innocence.  He missed them all, especially when the last things he saw were disappointment and fear and something close to accusation.
P.T. wondered what he would see when he had a chance to look into Phillip’s eyes again.
For now, he just looked calm and almost untouchable; wounded, yes, all bruised and burned, but still perfect and very much alive.  P.T. couldn’t ask for more.
Not until the younger man started groaning.
“Phillip?”
It was already passed midnight and the ward was dim; the only candle lit was on the bedside table two beds away.  P.T. moved his chair closer to the bed and bent down to put his hand on Phillip’s cheek, feeling a cold sweat against his palm.  Phillip was mumbling something unintelligible under his ragged breath, trashing his head from side to side with eyes shut tight.
“Hey, hey, calm down,” P.T. murmured, leaning in to press his lips over the knitted eyebrows. “They can’t hurt you anymore.  No one will hurt you. Shh… It’s alright.  It’s gonna be alright…”
Phillip gasped.
When P.T. backed away, he could see those striking blues blinking at him through the dark.  Now he saw them, confusion mixed with surprise, and—
Relief.
P.T. honestly didn’t expect that.
“Phineas?” Phillip mumbled hoarsely.  “P— P.T.?”
P.T. didn’t deserve any of this yet he couldn’t care less. “Yeah, it’s me.  Are you alright?”
“Why are you here?” Phillip asked with a half-skeptical look. “Where’s— Where’s Anne?”
“She’s home with W.D.  It’s almost one in the morning, Phillip.  She needs rest as much as you do.”
Perhaps it was the soothing tone he used, or maybe Phillip was just too tired to keep himself alert; Phillip relaxed and sank his head back into the pillow.
“Thanks,” Phillip mumbled.  P.T. frowned.
“What for?”
“For staying.”
Phillip was holding his wrist so tight it could hurt, keeping P.T’s hand against his cheek.  P.T. let him.
“No.  Thank you,” the older man corrected, “For never leaving.”
Phillip smiled weakly. “I saw the protestors coming at us,” he whispered. “Anne was dying in the fire, and you didn’t care.”
P.T. forced himself not to place another kiss on Phillip’s forehead.  Instead, he offered, “I’m sorry.”
Phillip hummed. “It’s fine.”
“It shouldn’t be.”
“Then rewrite it,” the former playwright replied. “Rewrite everything.  You took me to this side and I—” Phillip closed his eyes as he added softly, barely audibly, “I need you to stay here with me.  I need you to—”
P.T. shushed him with a kiss on his forehead.
“—Rewrite the stars.”
He finished the sentence for him, lips caressing the skin beneath at every word, and Phillip could only laugh— genuinely, beautifully.  There was nothing P.T. could do in his power to stop himself from kissing the man again.
Phillip let him.
P.T. couldn’t ask for more.

10.
@unicorn5454 asked:
So, would you like to write #10 ("If you two don't work things out, you're gonna end up regretting it.") for Barlyle? It sounds as if it could turn from angst to fluffy, which would be perfect
/Sorry I cut you short here haha :D but thank you again and yes I agree, absolutely perfect! Enjoy /
Unbeta’ed, I’m not a native speaker
(word count: 1881)
10. “If you two don’t work things out, you’re gonna end up regretting it.”
__________________________
“This can’t work. It’s just not. No. No-“
Anne comes to stand next to Lettie, who watches the door to the circus’ office closely. From behind the door two voices grow louder with every new exchange. Anne sighs.
“Again? Why can’t they just talk like normal people.”, she asks Lettie and wraps herself into the scarf she has thrown over the thin attire. She finished a new trick with W.D. they rehearsed for days now and it finally looks like they imagined it. Initially she wanted to show or at least tell their ringleaders about the good news. Judging from Lettie’s position, leaned against one of the buildings pillars, it might take a while. She purses her lips and wonders, what has gotten into the men recently.
“I don’t know, sweetheart. But it’s been like this for a few days now and I can’t deal with another round of fake-happy Barnum. It is so wrong.”, the singer answers. She values the show man, as a business man and as a close friend, but she doesn’t want to see him this miserable. He would never show that openly, she knows, but it’s obvious to everyone in the troupe. After the discussions behind closed doors, Philip stormed off the last days. Didn’t show up in the evenings and avoided conversations. Barnum on the other hand put on his brightest smile and pushed on and on, rehearsal after rehearsal, new ideas and switched choreographies. It was exhausting and it made Lettie mad.
She wants her family to be happy and not to argue all the time. Anne smiles at her, but takes off again. Lettie will talk some sense into them, she is sure of it. And she certainly does not want to deal with these two. “If you need help, just say so.”, she grins when she leaves. Lettie gives a firm nod, already planning out her approach. When the door opens, she leaps forward. If she let one of them escape, the viscous cycle would start again. Not on her watch.
With confidence she grabs Philip’s arm. The young man notices her only then and his gaze softens a bit. He still looks livid beneath. Lettie shakes her head and takes him back to the door. The ringmaster leans on his desk, arms crossed and just as fuming.
“What is going on with you two lately?”, she demands to know and releases Philip. The younger man lingers at the doorframe.
“Nothing.”, Phineas grumbles, but doesn’t look at her. His gaze is fixed on the wall opposing him, his jaw tightened. Lettie can almost see the distaste radiating off from these two. Philip chuckles humourless and rolls his eyes.
“If you two don’t work things out, you’re gonna end up regretting it.”, she states.
“Oh, regret is a good cue.”, Philip spits out. Lettie looks up to him and now seriously worries what they argued about all the time.
“Really? What do you regret, Carlyle?”
“Where do I start?”, Philip bites back and steps into the room, accusingly.
“Maybe right where everything began. You ruin my life, you know that? I bet you do, you just don’t care. You don’t care for anyone. It’s all lies, lies, lies and pretence; I don’t know who you are. And I don’t want to know.”
Lettie gasps and looks horrified from Philip to Phineas. She would have never expected such harsh words from the young aristocrat who became family so fast. All she can do is stay in the doorway, watching the fight unfold.
“I ruin your life? You hadn’t had a life before me! What have you got – parents that don’t love you? Plays the people don’t like? A job you hate and a mind you drown in alcohol? It was a wonder you weren’t dead in the Hudson by the time we met with your sorry excuse of a life.”
Philip stumbles back as if the words hit him physically. Lettie thinks they might have. She can’t put the horror she feels into words. She tries to, anyways:
“Please don’t say such things. Neither of you.” She slips the key from the window into her palm and leaves the room. Fighting back tears, she locks the door to the office. She raises her voice, banning any tremor from it.
“I’ll come back in an hour. Just don’t kill each other.” Then she hurries back to the others, the key pocketed and a hand over her mouth. She cannot believe how they acted towards one another. She hopes her plan works out, she really does.
“You are the worst person I ever met.”, Philip sighs and tries to open the door. It doesn’t budge. He chews his bottom lip and goes over to the window that faces the corridor. Lettie is gone.
“Likewise.”
Philip chooses not to look back. He can’t. He hears the older man slowly step away from the desk. A chair creaks. He doesn’t look. He buries his face in his hands.
“Maybe I should just go. And don’t come back.”
“Maybe? Make a definitely out of it and I would be honoured to show you out.”, P.T. snarls and Philip can physically feel him come closer. He smells him, hears him. He drops his hands and looks up at the show man, expecting anger.
“Then why...”, he wonders, but doesn’t finish his sentence. He is too focused trying to read Phineas’ facial expressions. There’s irritation, of course, but – and this confuses Philip the most – concern, even fear?
“Why what?”, he’s prompted biting. But Philip is now unsure how biting and fuming the show man really is or whether he conceals something else. He shrugs and takes a small step back.
“Why do you look so worried.”, he finishes and his voices cracks at the end.
P.T.’s eyes widen. He hasn’t thought the younger man could see through him. He should have known better, over the last two months they have become friends, best friends and dare he admit to himself, he developed deep feelings for his partner. Philip’s gaze pins him down where he stands, still insecure but also awaiting. Prompting P.T. to explain himself.
“You don’t remember?”, the ringmaster asks, although he knows the answer. He was there after all. All aggression he might have had before has gone. Philip can see the tension flooding off and the man’s shoulders slump down. He goes backwards till he hits the broad desk and carelessly sits down on its edge. When he looks up, Philip just shakes his head. He doesn’t even know what he is supposed to remember, what situation, or even what day.
“Phil, you nearly died last week.”
“I – what? No, what are you saying.”, Philip starts. He cannot believe what Phineas’ tells him. He should have noticed if he was close to dying, shouldn’t he? He was pretty sure that’s something you would remember. Unless – it was intentional.
“I thought you’ve been getting better. But then I had to see you in that bar – which is fine, you know, it is. We’ve been celebrating, mourning, and what not together over one or another drink. But that wasn’t “one or another” now, was it?”, Phineas’ reminds Philip of the night he wanted to forget so badly. And apparently he did so until now. He was good at repressing feelings and experiences, but he shouldn’t be proud of it. It was a self-destructive way of coping.
“No, it wasn’t. Have I – did you talk to me? Oh my god I don’t remember.” Philip paces the office, his hands tugging at his shirt restlessly. He is not able to meet the showman’s intense eyes.
“I did. You told me about your parents. I’m so sorry Philip.” Phineas knows exactly what happened that night. He had wanted to go back to the circus to try something out, in the middle of the night because he didn’t want to forget this brilliant idea, but saw his business partner and friend in the bar. He got hit with whiskey-clouded breath and slurred words. Regardless, the story was pretty easy to make out of Philip’s clumsy speech. He talked to his parents – involuntarily and they got into a fight – verbal and physical assault, as Phineas’ understood it – and parting words along the lines of “you’d be better off dead”. He recounts their conversation but sticks to the important information, as he doesn’t want to aggravate the younger man’s state further. He looks pale and sick enough, hearing the evening’s events from a sober perspective.
“Did I tell you about the...”, Philip stops at the window. He finally meets Phineas’ worried gaze and vaguely gestures but doesn’t dare to finish his sentence. He can’t think about it, not with P.T. looking at him like he does. Heart-broken and sympathetic.
“Yeah. And I got you home, I mean – I got you to my place and made sure you didn’t simply die on alcohol poisoning if I didn’t let you kill yourself on other ways.”, the blunt words feel like a slap. Philip thinks he might deserve that. But he can’t remember waking up at Phineas’ house.
“You slept half of the day and I got you to the circus to sleep off the worst hangover ever there.” Ah. Philip stood at the window this whole time, unable to move. Finally his body takes over his mind. Numbly, he lets his legs take him down. With clouded eyes and parted lips, he looks right through the ringmaster. He leans back until he hits the wooden walls. There he stays, thinking about all he heard. Phineas was there. If he wasn’t, they may not be here today. He wouldn’t be here probably.
Phineas gets up from his desk and folds himself down next to the young man, who still tries to comprehend the situation. Or rather, his problems. Because they were problems and he should face them. He exhales shakily. Phineas regards him with a cautious look, and then he drapes an arm around the younger man’s shoulders. Together they sit under the window; Philip’s breath’s become quieter. After a while, he leans into Phineas and the ringmaster feels tears slowly soaking through his shirt. He pulls Philip closer, rests his head against Philip’s.
“I’m so sorry. I would ne-ne-ver really...I-didn’t wa-want to figh-t or-“, Philip wants to assure Phineas’ that he hasn’t lost his will to live just yet. At least not at this moment. And he didn’t want to argue constantly. Phineas hushes him softly and the younger man can feel him nod.
“I know. We’ll figure it out, okay? You’ll be fine. I’m here for you.”
Philip holds onto the older man, not able to get out any more words. Phineas watches him and continues to whisper calming nothings and weaves tender fingers through the man’s hair.
Lettie makes her way back to the office, slightly afraid on what to find. She looks through the smudged windows and is startled when she sees neither man. She unlocks the doors and carefully looks around the room. On the floor, propped against one of the dusty walls she finds them. Asleep and cuddled together. A gentle smile spreads over her face and she sighs.
“Oh, boys.”, she places the key back on the desk and silently goes back to the others.

Hi, could you do a story where reader is having a panic attack and scared of letting Loki see them like this? Male reader please? The cause of the panic attack is someone judging them for their weigh. Loki comforting them. Please?
A/N: It's in an alternate universe were Loki and Tom Hiddleston are in a relationship together, and since Loki is an Avenger they live in the tower. Since Tom himself is being shamed sometimes - which still breaks my heart - I tried to work that into the story. Hope you like this :)
Warnings: hurt/comfort, bit angsty.
Panick attack ‘God he looks like a bean stick, doesn’t he?’ Tony said
‘Haha yes, some people aren’t built for muscles’ Sam chimed in.
That were the only two sentences Tom had heard of the conversation, but it was enough to make him spiral out of control. He had no idea how long they were talking about him, and had no intention to stay and discover how long they would go on. He wanted nothing more than to go into his bed, and cry. One problem, the chance of encountering his very fit boyfriend – with literally the body of a god - was too high. He had to find a hiding place, and fast.
Walking through the hallway he tried to hold back his tears. That unsettling, but very familiar feeling, started to creep in. His stomach felt in knots and he became nauseated. His breathing increased, but he tried to get it under control. His whole body felt tense and his temperature was rising. With no other option, he opted for the toilet of the library. Quickly entering the toilet, he slammed the door behind him and made sure it was locked. Closing the toilet-lit he sat down on the lit. He put his elbows on his thighs and his hands on either side of his head. Now he was locked in an internal war with himself, one that he lost over and over again.
The first battle he lost was with his tears. They were streaming down his face. He tried to close his eyes, bite his lip and tilt back his head, but the tears kept coming. The toilet felt like a hundred degrees and sweat was starting to form on his forehead, his hands already damp and lightly shaking. That was the second battle he lost. He tried to keep the bad thoughts away, because everybody is different. Not everyone wants to have big muscles to show of, he didn’t want to spend all his time at the gym, watching what he ate. He only liked to run, was that so wrong? But the constant ridicule from the people around him was too much. Thoughts that he was too thin, too lean, didn’t look sexy, at least not sexy enough for his boyfriend were swarming through his head. And that was the moment he lost the war.
His breathing sped up and he was inhaling loudly. It was even becoming painful for his lungs, but Tom felt like he couldn’t breathe anymore. Everything around him was spinning. He felt like dying. A knock on the door startled him. God, no not now! He couldn’t let anybody see him, he was too ashamed. He tried to silence his breaths, but it was no use.
‘Who is in there? Is everything all right?’ a familiar voice on the other side of the door said.
No, no no... not Loki. Why? Tom thought. Loki was the last person on this planet that could see him like this. He wanted to tell him to leave, but he couldn’t. He couldn’t even breathe! It felt like he was suffocating.
‘I’m unlocking the door’ Loki said. Tom wanted to protest, but still couldn’t say a thing.
The lock of the door slowly turned. The handle was pushed down and the door opened, revealing a concerned Loki. When Loki saw his panting boyfriend, covered in sweat, crouched inwards on the toilet lit he was shocked. He ran towards him, flicking his wrists to close the door behind him. He got on his knees, in between Tom’s legs and grabbed his hands.
‘Love, what’s wrong? What happened?’ Loki asked full of concern.
Tom just closed his eyes and kept gasping for air. He didn’t want to gasp for air anymore, it hurt too much to do so.
‘Tom, open your eyes. Look at me’ Loki said.
Tom just shook his head. ‘I’m sorry’ ‘I’m sorry’ ‘I’m sorry’ he repeated in a mantra over and over again between the gasps.
‘Tom, open your eyes’ Loki said more sternly.
Tom opened his eyes and looked at his boyfriend through the tears. He kept apologizing, for nothing and everything at the same time.
‘Just breathe, love. In… and out. In… and out’ Loki encouraged while demonstrating his own breathing.
Loki kept looking into Tom’s eyes, rubbing the back of his hands, and breathing with him. It took a while, but Tom stopped apologizing and his breathing was slowing. Now, he felt dread, because he had to tell Loki what happened. He was so scared that Loki would realise he was too good for him, he would for sure leave him. If not now then somewhere in the future. Tom felt cold, and started to shiver. The tears had stopped streaming and his breathing was painful, but even.
‘Are you cold? Do you want to come back to our room?’ Loki said softly.
Tom didn’t say anything but nodded slightly. ‘I-, I don’t..’ he said with a hoarse voice, but Loki shushed him.
‘I’ll teleport us’ Loki said. He helped Tom up for the lit and hold him tightly against him through the spell. Back in their room he still held on to Tom, figuring the spell would make him feel slightly dizzy. After the long hug he sat Tom down on the bed and conjured up a blanket to put around him, hoping he would soon stop shivering.
‘Are you all right?’ Loki asked.
Tom nodded.
‘What happened, love?’
When Tom tried to speak a chocked sob came out. He buried his face in his hands, trying to get away from Loki. Loki put an arm around his shoulder and let him cry in his chest for a moment. He stroked Tom’s hair to calm him down and whispered that everything will be all right. After Tom calmed down again he let him retract just enough to let him explain what happened.
‘It’s nothing’ Tom said a bit sheepishly.
‘That was not nothing’ Loki shot back. ‘Tell me, please’ he added softly.
‘I- ehm.. overheard a conversation between Tony and Sam’ Tom said sadly.
When he didn’t say anything more, Loki decided to push it a little. ‘What were they saying?’ assuming it would be something hurtful about himself. To his surprise, it wasn’t.
‘They were making fun of me.. for not having enough muscles’ Loki heard Tom say in the smallest voice he had ever heard of Tom, making his heart break. He felt Tom tense up and try to hide himself again.
Loki grabbed either side of Tom’s face. ‘Love, to me you are absolutely perfect. There is not a thing I would change. Don’t listen to these two idiots. What do they know? They have to use robotics to even stand a chance during missions’ Loki said.
‘It’s just.. you’re .. you, you know. Godly. And I’m me.. just me’ Tom hesitatingly answered.
‘You’re you, and you’re mine. You’re perfect in my eyes, and I wish you would see yourself like I see you’ Loki said.
‘I’m just afraid that one day you will wake up, see what they mean. Not find me attractive and leave me’ Tom almost whispered.
‘You are by far the most attractive person I ever met. Not only on the outside, but also within. You’re sweet, kind, forgiving and always see the positive side of everything. Too be honest, I wish sometimes to be more like you. And I am the one who is actually afraid that one day you will truly realize the gravity of my past and sometimes current actions, and that you will leave me’ Loki said, for the God of Lies he knew that Tom knew that he was being honest.
Loki smiled a little when Tom snuggled closer against him. ‘You know that I truly love you’ Tom responded. Loki was caressing the back of his boyfriend and the two of them enjoyed a moment of silence.
‘But what if, I want to change?’ Tom said, breaking the silence.
‘What do you mean?’ Loki hesitatingly asked.
‘Maybe, I can work out more?’ Tom said.
‘You don’t have to do that for anyone’ Loki sternly answered. ‘It’s important that you’re comfortable in your own skin, trust me. You will hate every minute of your life if you’re not’ he added sadly.
‘I- I don’t know’ Tom answered.
‘No worries. Take all the time you need. Just promise me that next time you ever feel like this, and have a panic attack. You call me. Day and night, promise?’
‘I promise’ Tom said. Loki grabbed his face again and kissed him deeply. He was relieved to see Tom smile, even if it was a small smile. He could tell from his face that Tom was emotionally drained. So, the rest of the night Loki pampered Tom with tea, chocolates, his favourite movie, and a very comfortable blanket. Tom had fallen asleep halfway through the movie, but not Loki. Loki was thinking about the people that hurt his boyfriend. He wouldn’t kill them, that is what he used to do. But he promised himself that he would hurt them.

I was tagged by @fryferbfringefan44. Now, I have to post 10 characters from 10 fandoms. I’m gonna take some liberties here and bend the rules by not necessarily picking top faves, but faves nonetheless and characters I want to talk about that I don’t really get to in other memes. Be ready, I’m gonna use this to let off some steam. :V
1. Isabella Garcia-Shapiro (Phineas and Ferb): I can’t help but feel controversial here because while I’d hardly call her unpopular, I always get the feeling that most people either don’t care about her much or that the main reason they like her is because they ship her with Phineas (or Ferb, or some other character even). Meanwhile I’m sitting here cringing at my old Phinabella days, and am in that odd sliver that seems to really like her but don’t really focus too much on the Phineas aspect, even if I still have some dreaded Phinabella inside me I’m trying to suppress? I mean, I didn’t even realise she had a crush on Phineas until a year after I discovered the show (yep, I didn’t see crush episodes like how Linda never sees Phineas and Ferb’s inventions). So anyway, I just think she’s really damn cool. She’s hypercompetent like the rest of her peers, she cares about things that matter (in particular the Fireside Girls) as well as her friends, she’s not afraid to speak her mind (well, besides one thing), plus she’s funny, cute and while probably being the most “normal” out of Phineas and Ferb’s group of friends can still have her moments of quirkiness (just watch Return Policy or Face Your Fear, lol). I also find some of her flaws quite interesting, like a lot of her friends we actually see she cares enough about the Fireside Girls to the point where it has given her anxiety over potential failure, and sometimes she has a need for attention (I really like the episode where she’s competing with Candace over attention for Melissa the young Fireside Girl because of this). Granted her central character arc still revolves around Phineas and I understand why some don’t really care for that, but admittedly I like that kind of stuff too (in b4 “problematic fave” comments from people). On one hand I feel like we focused only on her crush at specific times and not nearly as much as some people make it out to be, but on the other hand her crush on Phineas is just super adorable? I think it might actually be because I kind of relate to her (I often remind myself of her at times admittedly, even if there’s other characters I’m more like XD), like there’s loads of characters that exist as love interests but Isabella actually managed to engage me probably because we actually followed her and her feelings instead of her just being some random girl for Phineas to try and impress (I guess I’m saying she was at least active in her own romance storyline, before then I had only really seen boys chasing after girls)? IDK if I’m making sense, but I guess I’m saying even if I think she’s able to stand on her own with her other attributes and is admirable in that regard I can’t help but really relate to the crush stuff too, which is maybe why I like her more than some people (and again, still not in the super shippy wants-her-to-be-with-Phineas-at-all-costs way). But yeah, as you can see I think Isabella is awesome and she’ll always have a special spot as a fave.
2. Jasper (Steven Universe): I choose Jasper because I feel like some people are being somewhat unfair on her? Like, I feel like some people are underestimating how complex she is and that she’s not going to be the “true villain.” Steven Universe never works that way, not even with characters like the Diamonds, you can even ask the writers and they’ll say they don’t do actual villains. Plus, lots of people have gone “true villain” on characters like Peridot when she first appeared, and now look at where she is! Anyway, Jasper’s story is honestly really gripping and also quite tragic. Sure, she works as a great antagonist against the Crystal Gems, but when we piece together where she came from we really get to see why she is the way she is, and she’s actually quite sympathetic. I mean, in her last appearance in Earthlings, I was on the verge of tears. She’s not just some thug, she has things she cares about and has experienced real hurt, and has become quite messed up as a result. Oh, and I can’t wait for her to come back. She’s gotta be back eventually.
3. CT-5555, aka “Fives” (Star Wars): I always enjoyed the clone troopers, but one of my favourites was always Fives. I was always invested in the Domino Squad storyline, and how they rose through the ranks and eventually became ARC Troopers. However, when things got really interesting for me was the Umbara story arc. Here, we not only saw Fives’ capabilities as a soldier, but with Pong Krell taking control of the 501st Legion he actually started to show more colours to his personality. In particular, we got to see that he cared more about what he thought was right than simply following orders without question. Unfortunately, even if that saved him and his fellow clones on Umbara, it would doom him when he learned about Order 66. Fives may have done the right thing, but when the entire Republic is against you for trying to reveal what they perceive as some conspiracy theory, you’re not going to go out well (especially if you have the Sith involved). I just really liked seeing a clone grow rebellious and then renegade but still cared about his duty because it’s either all loyalty or fuck the army, it was a nice balance. It was just committing the crime of asking questions that doomed him (and gosh his death is so sad). At least Rex seemed to listen to his warning though. :’)
4. Bradley Nicholson (Milo Murphy’s Law): IDK if I’ve talked about Bradley much, but he’s just such a blast to watch. Of course there’s the added bonus of Vincent Martella voicing a character radically different from Phineas, but even then he’s just really funny, the voice acting just enhances that. He’s also quite interesting, given that he’s jealous of Milo and the attention he gets, plus he seems kind of lonely. I really want to see him interact with Milo in the future and see whether he changes his opinion on him, or if he somehow grows even more envious while he grows on the others.
5. Makuta Teridax (Bionicle): Yeah, Teridax here is a pretty standard villain with standard villain traits. Selfish, arrogant, wants power, views his subordinates as nothing but tools, associated with darkness, etc. The reason he has left a mark on me is because he’s not only good at what he does, he’s epic at it. They could’ve just had him be some typical dark lord type, but he ended up developing into a character that is able to plan things out to a ridiculous extent. As a result, he would always find ways to be steps ahead of the heroes, and he would even go as far as letting himself be severely defeated and letting them win if it meant achieving his ultimate endgame. Everyone was being played like a puppet, he was powerful but his manipulation and planning is what made him so competent. Oh yeah, and he ended up winning. It literally took a moon to the head to finally take him down, but even then he had already unleashed so much terror on the world that was now his.
6. Keith (Voltron: Legendary Defender): I’m pretty new to VLD so I might not really be as in-depth here now, but Keith is definitely one of my favourite characters in the show. For starters, he’s just really badass. Seriously, he might be reckless at times, but at least he’s not to the point of being foolish, he’s really good at what he does. Also the whole storyline with him being Galra was really interesting, The Blade of Marmora is probably one of my favourite episodes of the show so far. I was already invested in his need for answers, but there he was willing to go to dangerous lengths to get what he wanted. At least the hell he went through was worth it.
7. Alister Azimuth (Ratchet and Clank): Most of the final bosses in Ratchet and Clank games are villains, but here it was literally the mentor character for Ratchet. Granted I’ve never been too savvy with video games, but this twist here when I first saw A Crack in Time blew me away. He’s one of the last of his entire species and has lost everyone who was ever close to him, but when he sees the chance to go back in time, he can’t help but take it. Problem is that he will rip apart time if he actually tries that. It’s actually really dramatic to fight him at the end because throughout the entire game Azimuth had been helping out Ratchet despite stuff from his past slipping into the open (oh yeah, he also feels personally responsible for unwitting helping the one to get rid of the Lombaxes), but when Ratchet and Clank tell him using The Great Clock to alter time would be dangerous, he decides to stop playing nice. He’s rough throughout the entire game, but now he’s not taking anything from anyone. He needed to go back and undo the mistakes of the past, but he had to end up fighting someone who is the son of his once best friend to do it. Granted he’s brought to his senses by the end, but he does end up dying to reverse the time travel process.
8. Connor Temple (Primeval): I don’t remember much of Primeval, but I always liked Connor. Sure, a lot of the time he was there to be goofy and provide comic relief, but he was also really intelligent and knew his stuff. It’s also cool seeing him grow more important with each series, even if in the end his technological skills almost fuck up the Earth since he was being played by the antagonists. Just a fun and cool character.
9. Max Jerry Horowitz (Mary and Max): Mary and Max isn’t a film for the faint of heart (...like me), but Max has always meant a lot to me. He was the first time I had ever seen an Autistic character that felt real, and not just some stereotype or gag. We get to know him and all of the stuff he’s been through, and you can’t help but feel for the guy. He also wasn’t afraid to be himself despite how much hell the world put him through, which is really great to see. Also yay for a character that actually supports neurodiversity in some shape or form!
10. Donna Noble (Doctor Who): Donna was the first companion I got to know on Doctor Who, and she’s still my favourite. I enjoyed seeing someone with a relationship with the Doctor that was platonic but still strong and obviously meant as much as any other kind of relationship, and she was a lot of fun. I understand some found her annoying at first, but if she didn’t start there she wouldn’t have had such great character growth, learning to grow more confident in herself and overcome her insecurities. She was really funny as well, not to mention unafraid to speak up about things. The way she left the show was absolutely heartbreaking though...
I’m not tagging anyone, but if you’re reading this an interested feel free to do this.

Magical Moments
I’m going to share my top 5 most magical moments from my Disney trips over the years. These were pretty much all created by the wonderful cast members in one way or another.
#1 When I was about six years old, I got to be in a parade on Main Street. A cast member grabbed a few kids from those watching, and we got to help the enchanted broomsticks pass the buckets of “water” down the line like they do in the Sorcerer’s Apprentice in Fantasia! I thought it was the coolest thing ever to be in a parade at Disney World and I kind of still do 😊
#2 Once upon a time, back in the days of Playhouse Disney, there was a TV show called Bear in the Big Blue House. I loved this show so much. I had a Bear costume, action figure play sets, and many episodes recorded on VHS. Disney World used to have a Bear in the Big Blue House live show in the early 2000s, and I got picked to go up on stage and dance with some other kids for part of it! I guess I was a super cute kid or something because I got picked out for a lot of stuff back then!
#3 When I was about 13, my family went on another Disney trip. I still loved Disney World, but it had begun to loose a little bit of the magic for me. I was no longer really interested in the character meet and greets and mainly just wanted to ride a ton of rides. One of the two character meet and greets I actually remember doing that trip was with Phineas and Ferb. It was a spontaneous thing. We saw them, and I decided I wanted to get a picture because the line was pretty short. My little brother was being snarky saying things about how it was silly that I wanted to do this because they’re “just people in costumes” but I was dead set on doing it at this point. When I got to the front, it was so fun! There was music playing, they signed my autograph book (that I got for my first Disney trip when I was 4 and still haven’t quite filled up!), and I got a hug from Phineas! That one moment started to bring back the magic of it all. The characters and atmosphere became an important part of the parks again, and I will always remember that hug from Phineas as the catalyst.
 #4 On my most recent trip to Disney, my family went the week after my 19th birthday, so I decided I wanted to celebrate at the Magic Kingdom and have a meal at Beast’s Castle. I got a button, was wished Happy Birthday many times that day by guests and cast members alike, and was able to get a lunch reservation for me and my mom while my dad and brother went off to eat somewhere else. We stay off property, so getting a reservation there was a BIG DEAL, and so was my fastpass+ to meet Anna and Elsa, which also happened that day! Even though it rained that afternoon, my mom and I came back to the Magic Kingdom that evening so I could meet Anna and Elsa, something I was dying to do, especially since I worked so hard to get my fastpass+ for it. That day I also met Mickey Mouse, rode a lot of great rides, and I convinced my mom to stay to see a show called Celebrate the Magic. She was ready to head out and didn’t really want to stay until Wishes. I saw that Celebrate the Magic, a show I had never seen before, was happening before Wishes, and we decided that it would be a good compromise. It was, dare I say it, magical! Oh my goodness, it was a technical marvel and just beautiful and moving. We were both so glad we stayed for it, and my mom took a picture of me watching with a look of joy on my face. Since Wishes started right after, we ended up staying for that show too, which I always love. Essentially, I had an extremely magical and fun belated birthday celebration at the Magic Kingdom, and there’s not much better than that!
#5  In #4 I briefly mentioned meeting Mickey Mouse. This honestly deserves being called it’s own magical moment. This wasn’t any regular meet and greet with Mickey Mouse. This was Mickey’s meet and greet in the Magic Kingdom where he actually talks! Despite my extensive planning and research before our trip, I didn’t know about this special meet and greet. However, when my family went to eat dinner at Outback one night, our server asked us if we had spoken to Mickey yet. We laughed and said that no we hadn’t met Mickey yet this trip. And then he clarified that he literally meant had we spoken to Mickey and proceeded to tell us about this special meet and greet with Mickey at Town Square Theater. So, on my designated birthday celebration day, I knew this was something I wanted to do. After waiting in line, I was taken back in a small group to Mickey’s dressing room where he interacted with the guests one at a time, taking pictures, signing autographs, sometimes playing games with them, and TALKING. It was amazing! When my turn came up, Mickey asked if I could help him with a magic trick, and obviously I said of course I would! I got to play the pick a card game with him, I choose one, he guessed queen of hearts, and was correct. Then he wanted to try again, so I picked another card which was also the queen of hearts, and when he guessed queen of hearts the second time, he seemed so ashamed that he revealed his trick and said maybe he shouldn’t have done it twice! I was loving it! My mom recorded the whole thing, I got lots of great pictures, he signed my aforementioned autograph book, and it was just wonderful. I mean, I got to actually talk to Mickey Mouse! It’s probably one of my most magic Disney moments just because Mickey spoke to me, and I got to talk to and interact with him for a good 5 minutes (it felt like longer)! I acted like a little kid, I’m sure, but it was just so dang cool!
Bonus Moment! Running into Lilo and Stitch who were just walking through Typhoon Lagoon (I assume to go to their meet and greet spot) as we were leaving for the day, being the only people around, getting them to sign mine and my brother’s autograph books and getting a cute picture with them!

Let’s Be Real Pirates! | Phineas + Ferb
“Hey! I know what we should do today! Let's be real pirates, and go find Badbeard's treasure.”
Below the cut: A compilation of the competitions! The Dead Man’s Cove encounter with the mermaids, the High Seas encounter with the Kraken, and the Ruins of Fort Lyons encounter with the ghosts.
@ferbmanofactionfletcher
Episode 1: Dead Man’s Cove
(Ft. Shock, Aquata, Attina, Clarion)
Summary: Phineas and Ferb encounter some murderous mermaids in Dead Man’s Cove, get split up, and end up having to work with the crew of Queen Clarion’s Revenge.
PHINEAS felt terrible about Shock’s hand. It was his fault, after all, and because of that, he had sworn off drinking. Well, at least for today. And he was not going to let Shock get herself hurt again because of him— that was the pirate code! Right? Plus she seemed a little drunk. “You can stay back. We got this!” Phineas declared, climbing into a life boat and patting the bag that he had the jewel in.
SHOCK "What, no--I'm, you two--can't -- not by yourself." She waved her hand at them, squinting an eye
FERB didn’t know if it was such a good idea to leave the woman on the beach alone and, from what he could smell paired with the way her movements were a bit loose, drunk. But he also knew he didn’t want Phineas to row the boat alone by himself with the jewel that would make him everyone’s number one target. He watched the conversation between the two go back and forth, and then gave Phineas a thumbs up in answer to his question.
SHOCK tilted her head, thinking over her options. She could stay here and let the boys get eaten by mermaids or undead pirates or whatever else infested that cove, and they'd lose a jewel. Or, she could sit on this beach and...finish her bottle of rum. Bottle of rum. Definitely. So, she plopped right into the sand and leaned back against the cave wall. "Alright, you two hurry back. I'm not comin' in after  you."
PHINEAS jumped in the boat and grabbed an oar, rowing into the cave. “We’ll be in and out with the jewel. Easy as pie,” Phineas signed confidently. As they got closer to the cave, though, he wasn’t so sure. He could hear that eerie  music getting louder. “You hear that?”
AQUATA had followed the ship here and she was ready for that competition of her own. She was going to drown one of these sailors and show Attina she was more than capable. She sang louder, knowing it would draw the pirates in.
ATTINA had followed her sister into the cove. It was one of their favorite spots to mess with sailors and naval men alike, at least, the ones stupid enough to venture inside. Her tail thrashed through the water as she glided, following the little row boat. Her voice raised to join her sister's as they approached the boat on the still, black water.
FERB followed Phineas into the boat, pulling the map they'd been given from where he'd tucked it into the waist of his trousers for safe keeping. He studied it closer in case there was a better way to navigate through where they were headed. At the movement of his brother’s hands he looked up and stared blankly at the offered question for a moment. He shook his because, well, he couldn’t hear anything at all. "What is it?"
PHINEAS looked around. Duh! Only he could hear what he assumed was mermaids— at least if they tried some kind of mermaid enchantment, one person in this boat would be immune.
 “Good point. If I start acting weird, weirder than I am now, smack me in the face with something, yeah? Sounds like mermaids. Be prepared,” he explained.
Mermaids. Perfect. FERB nodded and looked to the waters around them with a weary eye. Being a pirate really made a person’s chance of dying go up. Being surrounded by water, other pirate ships, the Navy, and now, mermaids were swimming around here somewhere. It made him wonder about their sister, if she had made it as far as they had. He looked around them, and took up the other oar in the boat to smack Phineas with if the need arose.
AQUATA had a slightly different strategy. She shook the water Tina had splashed out at her out of her eyes and headed toward the boat with the teenagers. Much easier target.  Hey, it wasn’t like there were rules!
She sang louder as she approached, a wordless, creepy song. Some mermaids sang to create desire, but Aquata liked to create fear. Diving below the surface, Aquata pushed at the boat from beneath to rock it and then appeared on the other side and bared her teeth, continuing to push on the boat.
PHINEAS was more intrigued by the mermaid than afraid. As the boat lurched back and forth, Phineas barely paid attention to his satchel sliding across the floor of the boat, too intrigued by the mermaid. He dropped his own oar and turned around to face Ferb. “You think we have time to stop and talk to her?”
FERB startled when the boat began to rock, limbs splaying out to capture his balance against the unstable seat. And when the mermaid herself showed up at the side of the boat he let out a sharp breath, pushing himself backward to the other side to get as far away from her as the small boat would allow. He could only stare at his brother as he seemed less than worried to be face to face with the mermaid. He took in his question and then went ahead and gave the back of his head a light smack with the paddle end of the oar.
 “No!” He shook his head aggressively, movements jerky and quick. Ferb reached forward and grabbed Phineas by the collar to pull him away from the mermaid.
No fair, AQUATA thought when the redheaded boy was pulled away. He was the easy target. But Aquata wasn't letting some dumb pirate kids get away this easy. She began to shake the boat more aggressively, sending the bag the boy had abandoned sliding back and forth across the deck.
 PHINEAS was jerked out of his stupor when Ferb abruptly smacked him with the oar and pulled him away from the side of the boat. "Thanks." Phineas felt more than a little dumb. The mermaid was still there at the end of the boat, shaking it and grinning evilly. She seemed ready to flip the whole thing. "Shit. My bag! The jewel's in it!" Phineas realized, diving forward to retrieve it just as the mermaid's song swelled and the boat lurched violently. Phineas was able to grab onto the side of the boat, but the jewel wasn't so lucky. It rolled out of the bag and slipped below the surface. Without thinking twice, Phineas dove into the water after the jewel, hoping Ferb could fend off the mermaid himself and they could both get the hell out of there.
FERB could only watch, stilled by his own fear as Phineas jumped in after the damned jewel. He was able to move again after his brother had disappeared completely below the surface of the water, leaning heavily on the side of the boat to see if he could catch of glimpse of where Phineas had gone. Silently he pleaded for him to reappear quickly. What was he supposed to do now? Go in after him? Try to-?
 He turned and caught sight of the mermaid once again. So, Phineas had just jumped into the water. The water where a mermaid who was trying to kill them was. A mermaid who could easily outswim Phineas. Good. Great. Okay! Ferb knew he needed to do something to keep the mermaid here instead of going after his brother. He threw the oar aside and lunged for her, his long limbs able to reach her. His hands clamped down around her wrists and pulled, trying to drag her up with him. If she was here then she couldn’t go after his brother.
AQUATA was torn. On one hand, the red-haired boy had made himself an extremely easy target by jumping in the water himself, but she didn't want to let the other off the hook. If she swam back with two dead pirates in tow, there was no way Attina could disagree that Aquata had won.
Before AQUATA could make a decision, the one in the boat grabbed her arms. Rage bubbled up inside her. Who was this boy to think he was the one in control here? Maybe Attina's strategy was a better one.... Or maybe the best strategy was to sabotage Attina. Her song changed from a low, menacing one to a high-pitched one of alarm. A cry for help. Aquata couldn't know for sure, but maybe if Attina thought she was in real trouble, she would abandon her own efforts. Once she did, Aquata would drag this boy under the water and grab his brother while she was at it, winning the competition while Attina scrambled to find her sailor. What could be easier?
Or Attina would abandon her.... But she wouldn't, right?
She screeched as loudly as she could, the noise carrying across the water and beneath the surface.
It was as CLARION was scanning for Milori that she saw it. Or saw him. A boy diving for something glittery...was that a jewel? Clarion had a brief moment of concern: go for the prize or go make sure Milori was okay. But she liked to pride herself on selecting the best crew, people that wouldn't need their hands held for things. It...Milori would be fine. Right?
She forced herself to dive after the jewel, determined to snatch it from the boy before he could get it back.
FERB couldn’t hear what was coming out of the mermaid’s mouth, but he could feel the vibration of it as it rattled the wood of the boat he was pressed against and against the skin of her arms. Even the water seemed to ripple from whatever noise it was that was lost on him. She didn’t look happy, but Ferb dug his fingers in, not willing to let go for fear of what would happen to Phineas if he did.
 But as she pulled back and he leaned forward, the boat tilted too far without any counter weight to keep it steady. It flipped over on itself and Ferb went headfirst into the water below. He let go of his hold on the mermaid to get all of his limbs free and propel him back to the surface to gasp for air. He looked left and right for any sign of her, or Phineas, or anyone, but found himself alone. Even their boat was slowly sinking into the water. The only thing on the surface was the map, floating across the top. Ferb swam toward it, knowing they would get in major trouble if they lost it. His fingers reached out, brushing the soggy fabric. Just as he made contact with it a bird snatched it up with its beak and took off into the sky. He watched it, slowly accepting the fact that this was just how today was going to go, and then turned to swim toward the shore in the hopes he could find Phineas or head back for their crew to help find him.
PHINEAS hadn't been scared of the mermaids before, but after that screech, he was getting a little shaky. Maybe it was time to go. He needed to get the jewel, get away from the mermaids, and get back to safety. Phineas had just spotted it sparkling on the sea floor when another pirate appeared before him. The captain of Queen Clarion's Revenge! This was getting worse and worse... or maybe it was an opportunity. The mermaids were still lurking about, and he didn't see Clarion's rowboat anywhere about. He could get the captain on his boat. Did that count as saving her life? He hoped so.
He grabbed at the jewel, starting to realize he needed air soon. "FOLLOW ME!" Phineas mouthed, pointing toward the rowboat at the surface and reaching out to offer his hand.
CLARION would have cursed if she weren't underwater. As it was, the fact that the boy managed to grab the jewel first was infuriating. Still, she had lost her rowboat and she needed to get out of the unsafe waters of the mermaids. She grimaced and took the boy's hand, pulling herself up toward the surface. As she came up for air, she reached for the rowboat. Maybe she could commandeer his vessel and drag him back toward her ship with the jewel.
PHINEAS grinned, satisfied with himself, and broke the surface of the water, gasping for air. “You’re welcome,” he smirked, using all the strength he had to tip the boat toward him and climb aboard, jewel still securely in his fist. He turned around and offered a hand to the other ship’s captain. He could handle this! Of course he could. “M’lady.”
"It's Captain to you," CLARION retorted, taking his hand so she could pull herself into the boat. She wasn't about to be m'ladied by a child. Or anyone for that matter. She'd toss him right back into the water if he said it again. "Now hand over the jewel."
PHINEAS grinned and shook his head. “Not gonna happen, captain— huh, that rhymed!” He paused to appreciate his own genius and picked up his satchel to slip the gem back inside. “I just saved your life. You should be thanking me, not trying to steal from me!”
"Hello....pirate," CLARION pointed out, drawing her sword as her lips curled up into a smile. "I need that jewel kid. It's nothing personal."
PHINEAS’s eyes widened. He was not a good swordsman and he knew he wouldn’t be able to fight Clarion off. Phineas fought better from a distance. “Why can’t you find your own jewel, huh? I should have let that mermaid get you. If we’re playing dirty. Isn’t there still a pirate code?” At this point, Phineas was just stalling. He figured if he could keep Clarion talking, it would give his ship time to find him before Clarion could turn him into shark bait.
This boy truly was young and clueless if he didn't expect a pirate to betray another pirate for a jewel. CLARION couldn't help but snort. "The code is more like what you'd call guidelines than actual rules." Most of the time she stuck to the code to some degree. But for the prize? For the Pirate King's crown? No, she would do what it took to succeed. "Is this your first voyage boy?"
PHINEAS wasn’t about to admit to that. And he was kind of offended the captain had said it to begin with. “Course not. But I still believe in standards,” Phineas scoffed, hoping he sounded convincing. “If you kill me for that jewel, you’ll have that on your conscience forever.  Killing the man who saved your life. All for a silly crown.” Admittedly, Phineas wanted the crown just as badly, even if it was supposed to go to the captain. He’d find a way. “Do you really want to have to live with that? Forever?”
He backed up and stepped into a puddle of water. Uh oh. Hopefully that had just splashed in from all that jostling earlier. Phineas decided that was what it had to be. He wasn’t even going to consider the alternative.
Standards. CLARION couldn't help but scoff. "You should have joined the navy then. They have quite vulgar standards. You might like that." And then Clarion would enjoy killing him even more. She was just debating on stabbing him and taking her prize when she noticed the puddle as well, eyeing the water that was starting to fill the boat. "Oh bloody hell...start rowing this toward my ship if you know what's good for you." There would be another rowboat at her ship she could toss him in if need be. She could regroup there.
PHINEAS scowled. The thought of seeing another ship was cool, but he didn't think he would make it out of Queen Clarion's Revenge alive. "Are you joking? I know what they do to prisoners on your ship. Let's get to shore, it's not far, and then I'll signal to my ship." The water was rising. Clarion was right. This was extremely bad. They needed to make a decision.  Must have been that damn mermaid, Phineas thought to himself.
"We need to get moving, either way. I don't know how long those mermaids are going to stay away. So only if you swear to let me keep the jewel and get back to my ship." Based on  what had just happened, Phineas didn't think it was wise to make a promise with this captain. But what choice did he have?
CLARION raised an eyebrow. Did it look like she was joking? She could just toss him out of the boat now if she wanted. It was incredibly generous of her to even allow the boy near her ship. "I will not swear to let you keep the jewel. No harm will come to you while we return to my ship. That is what I can agree to. Take those terms or leave it." She gestured for him. "And start rowing before we sink in the middle of this cove."
PHINEAS was panicking. At least if he was alive he could protect the jewel, but what about Ferb? They stuck together, no matter what, but Ferb was nowhere to be found. “Fine,” he agreed begrudgingly, and started rowing. “And you’ll help me find my brother? Once we can get a new boat. That’s what’s really important, anyway.”
"Perhaps. I would like to find my own crew member as well." That was something that CLARION could temporarily agree to at least. If Milori should turn up anyway then she would of course cut off the deal. Ironic really that this boy wanted to get her to find his brother. If they really stuck with the code, they would leave the brother behind. "To you it certainly is."
PHINEAS paddled faster as the boat started to drag. The sooner he got off this rowboat, the sooner he could find Ferb and the sooner they could both find Candace. How had he ended up all alone like this? It felt so wrong. But there was always a way out. He had to hold onto that.
 “Of course it is. We’re a team. We stick together,” Phineas said as though it were the most obvious thing. “Don’t you have someone on your crew like that? I think everyone does.”
"Mhm. Not very pirate-y of you though." CLARION remarked coolly. Then again, if anything happened to Nyx, Clarion would set the world on fire to bring her back. Milori was a dear companion, but Clarion wasn't sure if she would treat him with the same...ah well. It didn't matter. She believed Milori would make it out. He had to. He was a capable pirate. "A rather bold assumption of you to make child. Perhaps it's every pirate for themselves." She gestured for him to steer a little more to the left. "That way."
PHINEAS scowled. “I’m not a child,” he protested, taking the boat in the direction Clarion pointed. “Even if I were who cares? I’ve been at sea for a while. You need people to look out for you or you’re dead. And you need people to look out for or you’re just sad. How is that un-pirate-like?”
CLARION couldn't help but snort. If he had to protest, then she would still consider him a child. "If a man falls behind...he's left behind. That is a part of the pirate's code." She wasn't going to acknowledge the rest of that. Clarion wasn't sad. She had the crew that she needed and they were all capable. They didn't need rescuing.
PHINEAS didn’t get that. The Golden Lust was full of big personalities who looked out for themselves, but at the end of the day, they were there for each other, for the most part. This was making Phineas even more apprehensive about going on the Revenge. But again, what was he going to do about it? The rowboat was looking worse and worse by the second.
 “I guess that’s your pirate code,” Phineas shrugged. “How much further? We might have to jump out and swim soon. This is looking pretty bleak.”
Episode 2: The High Seas
(Ft. Roxas and the Kraken)
Summary: A storm and a kraken put the Golden Lust in serious danger, the brothers improvise cannons with some bottles of rum, and one crewmember is lost to the Kraken.
PHINEAS had volunteered to help navigate now that Tink needed to rest. He believed this would gain the favor of the ship when the day came that he would take over as captain (which, he was sure, would be soon) but he hadn't realized that so much work went into this. He had instruments to calibrate and people to call to with instructions, plus the skies were starting to darken which was worrying.
One thing he wasn't paying attention to was the map. He had intuition after all, didn't he? Still, he thought he should get a second opinion. So when he spotted Ferb out on the deck, Phineas gestured for him to come help. "You think I'm doing this right?” he asked, his hands moving erratically.
FERB couldn’t believe that Phineas had managed to finagle his way to the top so easily. Actually, no, that was a lie. He could believe it. He had gotten the two of them on this ship and this far out to sea, he couldn’t doubt his brother from doing anything anymore.
 He glanced around himself when Phineas signaled to him, making sure that no one was paying attention to him as he left his cleaning supplies sitting on the deck. His brows furrowed as he took in all the things Phineas was having to coordinate together to steer them in the right direction. Ferb kept his eyes on the map as he signed to Phineas, “It depends. Where are we supposed to be headed this time?”
PHINEAS thought it was unfair that Ferb was still having to do things like swabbing the deck. Well, and he did too. After the battle with the Lost Wench and blowing up their master gunner's hand, Phineas had a lot to make up for. But at least he found ways to pass those tasks off to some of the younger crew.
"Back to port. We need to restock. We're running low on ammunition," Phineas replied with a satisfied smile. He liked knowing the goings-on of the ship. "You want to take the helm? I'll go check the..." He froze. "Ferb, where is the map?"
FERB looked up to watch Phineas’ hands. Ah, right, after that last battle they would need all the ammunition the ports could supply them with. This search and fight for these jewels were really shaping up to be terrible ordeals. There was so much chaos and blood and— what had Phineas just said?
 He turned back to look at the space where the map had just been. A shadow caught his eye and Ferb peered upwards to spot a bird, carrying the map away in its beak. He blindly slapped at his brother then pointed up to where the bird was taking off and shook his head. “Someone has got to be storing those things with bird seed or something. That’s the second one they’ve stolen from us.”
PHINEAS groaned. “Again?!” he threw his hands up in frustration and watched the bird fly away. “We’ll just have to wing it. No pun intended.” He took a second to feel proud of himself before remembering that things had just gone very sour. And it was technically his fault. And his responsibility to take care of at this point.
 He saw some movement in the distance. It was dangerous, but maybe if there was another ship nearby they could follow it to a landmark.
 “Let’s go that way.”
FERB didn’t know if that was the best course of action. There were no friends among the seas. If the Navy caught them, they were dead. If it was another pirate ship, they were dead. But he saw no other option, either. If they took off into any one direction they could wind up sailing to the middle of nowhere and then where would they be? Oh, right. Dead.
 And Phineas’ plans, though sometimes reckless, had paid off so far. It felt like they were that much closer to being able to take the ship for themselves to freely go in search for their sister. They just needed to stay alive long enough to do so. “No risk, no reward.”
PHINEAS nodded seriously in agreement and called to the crew to get the ship on course. As they began to approach the figure in the distance, though, Phineas could see that it wasn’t a ship at all. There was a hulking dark shadow that Phineas didn’t even have a word for.
He tapped Ferb on the shoulder and pointed. “I don’t think that’s a ship...” he signed slowly, eyes widening in fear.
FERB had turned his attention back to the instruments that the birds hadn’t managed to make off with. Bloody heathens, they were almost as bad as the pirates themselves. He glanced up when Phineas poked him, having to do a double take at the sight of the other boy’s body language and facial expressions. Ferb followed his line of sight to the shadowy figure that seemed to be...under the water? Was it a rock formation or some sort of sunken ship? He didn’t know the waters were that shallow here.
 He gave Phineas one last look before indicating that he should follow before Ferb rushed over to the front of the ship, stepping with one foot up on the ledge to get a better look at what they were heading toward. He held onto a rope to keep himself from falling overboard. With the other hand he pointed as the figure moved. Too quick for comfort. “What is that?”
PHINEAS had a bad feeling about this. He had always thought that the mysteries of the sea were enchanting and exciting, and part of the reason he had wanted to board the ship (aside from saving Candace, of course) was to see them up close. But now that he was approaching whatever this was, it made him feel queasy. And it definitely wasn't the rocky seas that forbade bad weather or all that rum he had drunk last night that was causing this.
 "Ferb, I think it's a..." He didn't even know what to call this. "Some kind of sea monster. We should get the cannons ready. And sail faster!" Was that the way to handle this? Phineas had no idea, but he was panicking.
FERB had to take his eyes off the thing in the water to see what Phineas was saying to him, even though he felt like if he did then it would disappear and pop back up closer. He could feel the wind began to get faster. The temperature of it dropped as it blew across the deck and caught in the sails. He stepped down from the ledge, taking note of the tense air that Phineas had taken up. Ferb put his hands on his brother’s shoulder and gave him a steadying look. Then he pulled away to free his hands to sign.
 “If you panic now, so will everyone else. We need this ship and this crew intact if we have any hope of finding Candace.” He looked back out to sea for a moment before turning back. “You can do this. I know you can, you've gotten us this far. Just use your brain and think.”
ROXAS had been manning the helm in place of Captain Tink, trying to get them through the rough seas, but it didn't look like things would be getting better. In fact, it seemed inclined to get even worse. And on top of that...there was a strange blur in the water.
 "We should try to steer clear of that lads. There's no telling what that could be..." The blur was actually starting to move closer, and as it did, it started to take shape, and the image of it was.... "KRAKEN!" He yelled, glancing at the first hapless crewman. "You man the helm. Ferb! We have to load those canons. Let's move move move."
FERB had left Phineas to do what he did best and ran to go help with what he could. The man, Roxas as Phineas had finger spelled for him after the initial introductions with the crew had gone over Ferb’s head, looked like he was addressing him. But Ferb had no idea what he was saying or how to tell him that.
He came forward to stand before Roxas, pointing toward the sea monster they were up against, and then made an exploding motion with his hands balling into fists before coming apart. Then he made a circular motion with his hands, to showcase the canon ball, acting as if he was holding one. Ferb then gave a shrug and shook his head because they didn’t have anymore cannonballs after their last battle. And, as if to top off their situation, rain began to sprinkle down upon them with lightening making the sky glow in flashed fragments. How lovely of Mother Nature to treat them so.
Could this get any worse? ROXAS already thought a storm was difficult enough to handle on its own. But now there was a kraken? And they were out of ammunition? It took him a long minute to process what Ferb was signing to him, but he got the jist of it. They didn't have what they needed.
 This situation would not end well for them. Not at all. Not unless they figured something else out. "Shit. Okay. You and I are going to look for new ammunition." He pointed at himself and Ferb and then tried to gesture about looking for something, hoping that the gist would be clear. This was slowing him down. They needed to come up with a solution. Now. He could see out of the corner of his eye a long tentacle starting to draw up the side of the ship. Shit.
 "Quickly!" He nudged Ferb and started down the steps to glance through their supplies
FERB nodded eagerly, already having an idea of what it was they could use. Something they had an abundance of and something that was highly flammable. He went where Roxas directed him, his long limbs making their way down the stairs as fast as they could. Ferb jogged forwards to where this ship kept their massive supply of alcohol. The bottles were vast and in no short supply.
 He pulled two bottles from their places and hoisted them in the air. Ferb turned to show Roxas before shoving one into his hands. He pointed to Roxas’ mouth then to the other members of the crew around them that were scrambling for what to do, indicating that he needed to inform everyone of their new supply of ammo.
"Not the rum!" ROXAS protested at first, before he looked at the other supplies that they had and frowned. There really weren't a lot of other options for them. Roxas cursed. Not having the rum would make for a rotten crew the next few days. But they'd just have to accept that deal.
 He grabbed hold of some of the rum and then glanced around at the rest of the crew. "MEN! Load the canons with all the rum that we've got! We're going to blast this foul beast back to davey jones' locker!" He nodded at Ferb, encouraging him to continue his own work as he rushed off to load as many canons as he could as well.
FERB could see the hesitancy in Roxas’ face. No, he didn’t quite understand everyone’s want to drink the bitter and foul tasting liquid, but he knew it was important to the majority of the crew. Thankfully, he seemed to realize that it was death or the rum here and was willing to sacrifice the drink. He returned the nod, and got to work. Around him other crew members were gathering bottles, taking swigs from them, before loading them up into the canons.
Above them the rain began to poor down in heavy sheets and something heavy crashed against the side of the boat. It tipped to one side for a terrifying moment before touching back down into the water.
ROXAS ran from one end of the ship to the other, attempting to help them all with the canons. The ship rocked precariously and Roxas' stomach lurched. They were really in for it now weren't they? "Get ready to fire men!"
He turned toward Ferb, gesturing for him to aim at one of the foul beast's tentacles. They had to try to destroy it. If this didn't work...he wasn't sure what else they would do.
FERB kept his eyes bouncing between Roxas and the small window the canon was being aimed out of. He almost didn’t want to look out at the scene around the boat because holy hell was it terrifying. Ferb had not even fathom that something could be so scary and massive. How had it even grown to be that size!
At Roxas’ gesturing, Ferb shoved the cannon into position. It was hard, trying to get the right aim on the target when it kept moving. Even if it was huge. Finally, with the fuse lit, there was no choice but to let fate take the reigns. The cannon fired, only the vibrations of it registering for Ferb. After he recovered he looked out through the small opening. They’d hit it! The tentacle had got a massive chunk taken out of it and was singed. Instead of retreating though, the monster thrashed about in pain.
PHINEAS grinned, surprised and proud. Not that he had ever doubted Ferb, of course, but this was a kraken! He caught Ferb’s attention and waved his arms wildly in celebration. “THAT’S MY BROTHER!!” Phineas signed emphatically, sort of dancing around.
 In the midst of Phineas’s celebration, the ship lurched and Phineas lost his grip on his own cannon. “Here goes nothing!” he shouted, mostly for Roxas’s benefit, though he shot an excited look in Ferb’s direction before lighting his own cannon and firing at the Kraken.
FERB couldn’t even have time to revel in the excitement of the moment of hitting a giant sea monster that was attacking the ship because— well, a giant sea monster was attacking the ship. He quickly reloaded the cannon, shoving the bottle of rum inside, and pushing it back up to the window. Phineas’ shot went off and Ferb ducked his head to watch it make contact, too.
 The sound the kraken gave off was loud enough for Ferb to feel it reverberating through his own chest cavity. The boat shook with it and then again at the monster’s movements in the water caused big waves for the Golden Lust to sail against.
PHINEAS ducked as the boat shook. The reality began to set in that they were on a very little boat up against some very big waves and an even bigger sea monster. There was a possibility that this ship was going down, and before Phineas would even get to find his sister.
 No way. He wasn’t going to let that happen. “ARRRGH!” Phineas shouted, firing off another bottle of rum (and mourning it a little bit). “You good?” he signed to Ferb quickly.
TW: Death by becoming a kraken snack
ROXAS fired his guns at the Kraken as well, though the monster didn't seem that phased, and they really needed to come up with a new solution, or something big in order to get the thing away from their ship. The ship rocked and Roxas started up the shrouds, hoping that he might find a better angle to hit the kraken with.
He fired again and again. "Don't waver men! Hit it with everything you've got!" He called, glancing around for Phineas and Ferb to see how they were doing. And that was where it all went wrong. That moment of distraction, that lapse was enough for him to miss the tentacle that came up behind him. Before he could turn, it wrapped itself around his waist and tore him off of the shrouds of the ship.
 The man was thrown into the air, dangling over the maw of the beast. Roxas tried to fire at the tentacle that was holding him there, but the wild movements of the beast made it impossible. He couldn't get loose. He wouldn't be able to get loose, and even if he did...
 He glanced at the horrid maw of the beast, and he aimed the pistol he'd taken from Sora. He could do one last thing for his crew. He would do it. He fired at the Kraken's eye, just as the monster loosened his grip and he fell, fell straight into the mouth of the Kraken.
PHINEAS watched in horror as Roxas was snapped up by the Kraken. He had heard the seas were dangerous, hell, he knew the ship could have gone down then and there, but he never imagined he would see it play out. And Roxas had always seemed so sure, so capable. It was his idea to set off the rum, after all, and now he had defeated the Kraken.
But the Kraken had defeated him.
 Phineas cried out in fear and anger, just as the skies open and a monsoon set upon the boat. “BATTEN DOWN THE HATCHES!” Phineas yelled, his face contorted in pain, signing along so Ferb could join the efforts. He started pulling the sails down. “WE’LL TALK LATER, WE’LL TOAST LATER, BUT FIRST WE HAVE TO SURVIVE THIS!”
FERB had been looking at Roxas, went to fill the cannon back up with a bottle of rum, and turned back to find the man was gone. His eyes found Phineas, who was looking elsewhere. Following his line of sight he saw what it was that had made his brother’s expression look so terrified. The monster had taken Roxas.
 Ferb couldn’t watch anymore after that.
 Phineas was right. Of course he was right, they needed to live if Roxas dying was going to mean anything. He abandoned the canon, slipping across the wood that was getting soaked by the rain. It stung his skin as it hit down and it was hard to see through all the water in his eyes, but he pushed through to help the other crew members get control of their ship back from the storm and the sea.
Visibility was getting worse and PHINEAS just wanted to get below decks before anyone else went overboard. He had barely processed what happened to Roxas, but he couldn't let it happen to Ferb or anyone else. The ropes were slick with rain, but Phineas managed to get a few of the sails down before deciding that it was probably smartest to take cover. Squinting through the downpour, Phineas scrambled to find Ferb and tapped his shoulder to get his attention.
 "To the hold!" he signed frantically.
Episode 3: The Ruins of Fort Lyons
Ft. Ghost Roxas and some overheard noises from Barrel and Wilbur
Summary: Phineas and Ferb go searching for a jewel in the tunnels under the ruins of Fort Lyons, and a few things go bump in the night.
PHINEAS would have felt more ready for this if not for what had happened the other night with the storm. It had been a wake up call: this was dangerous stuff. Worse, this creepy fort was giving him the heebie-jeebies. He could swear he heard Roxas’s voice somewhere.
 He held the lantern higher to give off more light and quickly indicated to Ferb that they should check for the gem in one of these old barracks. Phineas had no idea where it could be, but it seemed like a start.
FERB had started to wonder just what he and Phineas were doing out here in the ocean. On a pirate ship. During the biggest treasure hunt of the decade. He had come out here to find their sister, not to wind up stumbling around a bunch of abandoned ruins in the night. How many times had they almost died now? Not to mention Roxas! He actually had died for this thing. And he couldn’t see how they were any closer to finding Candace.
 He nodded to Phineas as he saw where his brother was thinking. With a tentative step forward, he entered the first room, having no faith in the foundation of this place to keep even a feather from letting it fall apart.
PHINEAS was positive this place was haunted the minute he stepped in. Which sounded like a great adventure in normal circumstances, but given Phineas’s recent brushes with death, it was more creepy than anything.
 He stepped inside carefully, and jumped when he heard a floorboard creak. Phineas paused and looked around. “I don’t see anything,” he signed by the light of the lantern, though he could feel a tingle on the back of his neck. Like something was watching. Or someone.
 “Let’s keep going.” Phineas took another step forward, but didn’t see the gaping hole in the floor. He yelled in surprise and hit the ground below hard. “What the...”
FERB nearly jumped out of his skin when Phineas started signing, his movements casting odd shadows around the walls. Fortunately, it was just Phineas and not some other pirate or creepy creature come to drag them into the wall with them.
 He turned away when Phineas suggest they continue and in the next moment, vibrations through the floor and the distinct lack of light indicated a shift in the air. Ferb looked back to find that his brother was missing and in his place a puff of dust. He bent down to squint through the darkness of the hole in the floor. But he couldn’t call down nor would he be able to know if Phineas replied.
 So, not wanting to be separated from him again on one of these adventures and run in with another big blonde pirate, Ferb jumped down after his brother.
When PHINEAS hit the ground, he was sure this was going to bruise, but that wasn’t the worst part. The worst part was that the lantern skittered away and flickered out. Now Phineas couldn’t see where he was going or even communicate with Ferb— they had been relying on that lantern to see each other.
 But even if they chose to turn back now, where would they go? They had just fallen through a hole in the floor and there didn’t seem to be an exit in sight.
Phineas dusted himself off and took a shaky breath. At least he could kind of see Ferb with some light coming in through the floorboards and as his eyes adjusted to the darkness. He reached a hand out to help Ferb up, hoping that this time at least they wouldn’t be separated.
FERB went still at the feeling of someone touching him. It took him a moment to recognize Phineas’ outline in the dark. Layers of relief settled on top of the other. That Phineas was up and coherent enough to stand. That they hadn’t been split up. Sure, the light had gone out and they had no idea where the hell they were, but as long as Ferb wasn’t alone in the dark, he could handle it.
 He let Phineas help him to his feet, having to lean a little bit into him before he could really get his balance together. Once he could stand on his own two feet without feeling like the world was slanted, he kept one hand on Phineas shoulder and tapped his lightly twice to indicated that he was okay. For the most part, anyways. There was no telling what he had just inhaled.
PHINEAS and Ferb had signs for communicating without talking, but they didn’t really have a language for pitch darkness. They’d never really needed it before. But Phineas knew his brother well enough to understand what the tap meant. He tapped Ferb’s hand on his shoulder as if to acknowledge that he agreed, they were both okay. They hadn’t been separated, and that was what mattered.
Something rustled up ahead and there was a low, creepy sound. Phineas stopped short, listening carefully. He glanced at Ferb, whom he could only barely see in the darkness, and then started walking again, hoping Ferb would get the message to proceed with caution. Maybe that was something Phineas never did, proceeding with caution, but for once, he didn’t want to take any risks.
And, with another tap, FERB could stop worrying about Phineas being hurt. All this could have been in vein for whatever else this place had in store for them. Especially now that they were standing under the floor that they had just fallen through. There was no telling when or where it could come down on them or if they would go through the floor again. They didn’t even have the light to help, which was disorientating to Ferb since he had spent his whole life relying heavily on his sight.
 At Phineas movement next to him, the usual enthusiasm within quick movements lost to slow and steady beats, did tell Ferb what he needed to know about his brother’s thinking. At first he was relieved to know they were on the same page of taking things slow and steady until they found some other source of light. But then— if Phineas was acting cautious, then something must have really been wrong. He followed, reaching out with one hand in front of him to make sure he didn’t go walking right into a wall. Or worse.
PHINEAS shivered as the tunnel got deeper, darker, and colder. They were definitely not alone in here... but who else could there be? Other pirates could be bad, but this didn’t seem like the living... This seemed like something else entirely.
 He heard whisperings and low, angry growls, and slowed down more. If only they had the lantern, Phineas would feel better. He tapped Ferb a few times in quick succession, as though to warn him.
 And then Phineas heard voices. Human. Sounded like kids their age. How scary could they be? At least he and Ferb weren’t the only humans here. Still, Phineas was going ahead with caution. He drew his slingshot out of his pocket, even though there was no way he could aim it in the darkness.
FERB soon regretted having his hand held out to touch his surroundings because as soon as his fingers came into contact with the delicate and sticky threads of a web, he sighed. Now that they had been walking down here for a little while he only had one question: Why? Just, why?
 He brushed off his hand on his shirt, entering into a sort of level of surrealness about their situation. To think, if this was any other night they’d be sitting at home by the fire with their sister and parents. They would talk and Ferb would watch their facial expressions and not have to worry about things like walking through a crumbling building in the dark. Ferb gave Phineas a tap in acknowledgement, not totally unaware of the shifting in the air but oblivious as to what it could be. He did find Phineas’ upper arm to squeeze lightly, a silent plea to be careful.
PHINEAS tensed up when he heard the voices get clearer. Fight. He heard the word fight. Phineas was already freaked out enough about the ghosts, and throwing people into that only made it worse. Phineas wanted out of here. Now. It wasn't funny or exciting anymore. There was a pit in his stomach growing worse by the second, but what else could they do but go forward?
 The squeeze of his arm made him feel a little bit better. Ferb was still here. But what if they got separated again? What if... Phineas didn't even want to think about the worse option.
 He squeezed Ferb's arm back and then let go to draw back his slingshot. He didn't know if the ghosts or the people would find him first, but even if a weapon didn't do much against a ghost, it made him feel better to be prepared. The air turned cold again and Phineas swore he had just walked through a ghost or something, but he kept moving, looking around frantically though he couldn't see much.
FERB, despite his run in with mermaids and skeleton people, still hadn’t come to this place with a weapon. This was mostly because he didn’t trust himself with one. Like now, what if he was carrying around a weapon in the dark and wound up hitting or hurting the wrong person because he didn’t have hearing or sight to rely on? He would have been so caught up in wondering if he should hit that the weapon would be more a detriment than something useful.
 He let go of his hold on Phineas, able to see the vague outline of him pulling the slingshot back beside him and not wanting to get in the way of the shot. Not that he was sure Phineas knew what he was firing at but if he was even arming himself, there must have been something up ahead of them that had caught his attention.
 Though he couldn’t hear whatever it may have been, something made the walls around them shiver and a bit of the ceiling get knocked loose into lines of dust to fall around them. He wished he knew how to help, but without the light and without a weapon of his own, Ferb was as he usually was, useless.
At the sound of the gunshot, PHINEAS didn't think, he just released the stone he had pulled back into the distance and pulled Ferb to the side wall of the tunnel. He didn't know if a bullet had even fired in their direction, but in case it had, he had to get Ferb out of the way. Shaking, Phineas tapped Ferb's shoulder again, trying to figure out whether he was okay. He was beginning to regret this. He should never have brought Ferb in the first place. Ferb was younger, basically still a kid. He didn't deserve to be thrown into danger just because Phineas had an impulsive idea and fancied himself a pirate.
 And then he heard another voice. A threatening one. The navy? But it sounded young. Maybe there were other pirates here. What if he and Ferb were found and framed? And it wasn't as though the pirates had exactly gone away. Phineas took a deep breath and turned around, looking to Ferb nervously as though for approval. He didn't know if there was even a way out in the direction they had come from, but he knew there were ghosts and angry sailors in the direction they were going. And Ferb seemed okay now, but Phineas didn't want to risk another scare like that.
FERB went as Phineas directed him, allowing his body to be pulled to the side without resistance because he trusted Phineas enough to do so. There was a stilled moment where Ferb waited for something to happen. This was often how situations in his life played out, waiting and watching. This time, he had been waiting for Phineas’ tap. He returned it, making sure it was reassuring and nothing to cause alarm.
 But he could feel Phineas’ eyes still on him, could feel the fear and nerves that were becoming more and more volatile within the walls of this place. They needed to get out of the dark that was suffocating the light out of his brother. And sometimes, Ferb had found, his lack of hearing shielded him from things in life. Hurtful words, loud noises that made the heart jump, and even the small whispered things in the night that kept people from dreaming peacefully.
 He latched onto Phineas’ forearm and gave a firm tug on it before he started to talk forward again, this time at a faster pace than they had been before. Damn caution, it was only allowing the walls of this place to eat away at them. Now was the time to throw it down with their broken lantern and get a move on before they never made it out of here.
PHINEAS was surprised at Ferb's decisiveness. And still a little worried. He was used to being the leader, the one with the big, dangerous ideas, who never thought before he acted. So being the one to follow was strange. But in some ways, he trusted Ferb more than he trusted himself, at least in moments like this. So he increased his pace to catch up.
 He just hoped Ferb wasn't doing all of this for that stupid jewel. That was how it felt in the moment, anyway. Phineas knew getting the jewel would impress the crew, and it meant Phineas could stand a chance at the pirate crown, but at this point it didn't seem worth it. What was really important was making it out of here with himself and Ferb alive, and finding Candace.
 Phineas didn't really know where he was going anymore, but it didn't matter. Anywhere but here. This place was cursed. Haunted. Something seriously dark had already happened here tonight, and Phineas didn't know what it was, but for once, he didn't want to find out.
FERB had compartmentalized whatever fear had been growing inside of him ever since Phineas had fallen through the floor. For right now nothing existed besides his feet moving and Phineas’ arm under his hand. One step forward was one step closer to getting out of these rooms and back to somewhere with light and air that didn’t smell like it was tainted with something.
 That cold feeling that had followed them down here seemed to grow frigid the farther they went but Ferb ignored this. It was not one of the things that mattered to him. But maybe it should have because the farther they got, the heavier he started to feel. His blood began to feel cold under his skin and carried that feeling all over his body. This numbing effect, like when he leaned on his leg for too long and came away with the feeling of pins and needles against his skin. It made him slow to a stop because it seemed to be reaching his eyes, too. It was dark, but this had started to make him see less and less until there was nothing. He tried to move his arms, but found that they didn’t respond to his brain’s instructions.
Nothing was responding to him anymore, not even his own mind, which had grown cold, too.
PHINEAS felt a little more reassured now that Ferb seemed confident. But as they went deeper into the tunnels, the chilling feeling returned. Phineas couldn't hear the other boys anymore, but he could hear whispers. Creaks. Whooshes. The sounds of haunting. Worse, Ferb was acting strangely. Had he noticed something Phineas hadn't?
 He paused and tapped Ferb on the arm again, just to check in. Maybe Phineas had been wrong to trust Ferb's choice. Maybe they should have turned back. He gestured toward the direction they had just come from, as though to indicate that they could still turn back.
ROXAS was filled with anger. It was as if it was the only emotion that consumed him. It consumed him enough that he followed the crew as they went to port. Followed them to sea again. Followed as they went into the ruins. Roxas hadn't had any control.
 But finally, finally after plenty of testing and trying, Roxas saw an opportunity. Roxas lunged forward and through Ferb, taking unsteady control over the boy. He lifted the boy's hands awkwardly first, tilted his head left and right to test out the movement.
 His gaze turned toward Phineas, narrowing his eyes at him. "You" he snarled, the anger flooding his senses and making the control over the body harder.
PHINEAS nearly jumped out of his skin at the sound. At first, he looked around, expecting the voice to be from elsewhere, maybe the boy from earlier. But it became evident, even in the darkness, that it was coming from Ferb.
 That didn't make sense. He and Ferb never spoke to each other. They had other ways of communicating... Something was wrong.
 "...What?" he squeaked. "Ferb?" He reached for Ferb's shoulder, for another check-in tap.
ROXAS lifted the boy's hand and slapped Phineas' hand away. "It's your fault. It's your fault." He pointed at Phineas and lurched toward the boy, stiff in his movement because it wasn't his body, it didn't react the same way his own did. It was inconvenient.
 Still, Roxas pushed forward. "If it weren't for you....your fault. You're gonna pay."
PHINEAS's stomach lurched. This wasn't... there was no way this could be Ferb. It didn't make sense. Something had happened to him-- was it something in the air down here? Or maybe something supernatural? He had a feeling it was haunted...
"Who are you and what did you do to Ferb?!" Phineas demanded, backing up against the wall and reaching into his pocket for another stone. He didn't want to hurt Ferb, but he couldn't be too careful. Because what if this was some kind of illusion? Or impersonator? "Get away! I didn't do anything wrong! I don't know what you're talking about!"
"You're gonna pay...." ROXAS repeated, bending over and lifting up a stone of his own. "I died cause of you....pay Phineas...." He rasped, swinging his arm back and throwing the stone hard for the boy's head. It wasn't the most useful weapon, but it was the best that he had in the moment. "Pay..."
PHINEAS ducked as the stone barely missed him. His heart was beating out of control-- who had died because of him? Whatever had just happened with that gunshot? Some sailor or pirate? Wait... was it Roxas?
 Whatever had taken control of Ferb, Phineas wanted it out. Even if it could potentially be a former crew member. Phineas did feel guilty about what had happened during that storm, but he wanted his brother back more.
 He had an idea, but he didn't like it. PHINEAS pulled out the stone and launched it at Ferb. "Give me my brother back!" he shouted, his voice shaking in fear.
ROXAS attempted to twist away from the stone, but the body struggled, and it was awkward to move with. The stone hit the boy right in the head, and since control was difficult enough anyway, it tossed Roxas right back out again, tumbling away in fury.
 He'd get him again. This wouldn't be the last time Roxas would try something. But for now? He would wait.
PHINEAS watched Ferb fall to the ground and only briefly felt relieved that it seemed to have worked. And then he remembered that he had just hit him right in the head with a rock and there was still reason to be worried.
 He crouched down next to Ferb, trying to see through the darkness of the tunnel whether he was breathing. Mercifully, when Phineas checked Ferb’s wrist for a pulse, there was one. He shook Ferb’s shoulder gently, then a little more urgently. “Wake up...” Phineas muttered, trying to stay calm. They would get out of this. They always had, hadn’t they?
Phineas tried again to get Ferb to wake up, but it was no use. This wasn't going to be easy, with Ferb being so much taller than Phineas, but they had to get out of there before the ghost came back. Phineas thought about calling for help, but he didn't know if those sailors were still down here and, if they were, he definitely didn't want them to find him. He was just going to have to try and carry Ferb back to the ship as best he could. Maybe Kovu would be able to help.
 It didn't seem likely that Phineas would be able to fight anyone off if he did run into trouble, but just in case, Phineas looked around for another stone to keep in his pocket. There was a larger one toward the far wall of the tunnel, and when Phineas picked it up, he realized it wasn't a normal stone. It was too smooth and dense. Could this be a jewel?
 Phineas pocketed it, making a note to look at it once Ferb had been taken care of, and then awkwardly shifted Ferb onto his back. You owe me big time, bro, Phineas thought, then spotted a patch of moonlight in the distance down the tunnel. An exit?
 Sure enough, as Phineas approached, (slowed a bit by the effort of carrying Ferb) Phineas could see a set of stairs. He struggled up the stairs and out of the tunnel, relieved to breathe fresh air and see the moon again. For once, Phineas wanted nothing more than to make it back to the ship
