I can't be the only person who just... feels nothing for Manorian. Like I like Dorian and Manon on their own, they're interesting characters but I see them together and just... :/

I kept on getting told that I would see their chemistry eventually but once I finished the series it was like watching two completely different characters bang while wearing Manon and Dorian masks.

They're so boring and that feels so much worse than if I just hated them because I know Manon and Dorian deserve better than to end up as paired spares.

After thinking about it for I bit, I’ve realized that I can very much enjoy Manorian, but only if it’s in a specific font. Which is “book nerd dainty King x Stronk warrior queen who could kill him with one hand (and is also taller goddamn it Sarah)”

But I’ve notice that the actual vibe they have in the books (and in any fandom stuff) is “cringy supper powerful magic King who makes Manon have emotional conversations she not ready for and is in general annoying vs with queen who’s OnLy FlUsTeReD DoR hIM (ew) who had to let Dorian do whatever he wants by the author so she’s slowly becoming a doormat who lets Dorian do things she would have killed him for in previous books”

Anyway I reject canon and only believe in the good word of Manon being able to pick up Dorian in one hand while he rambles about a book series he likes

Um... Feysand is abusive ? Is Elriel abusive ? Nessian is abusive ? Rowaelin is abusive ? Manorian is abusive ? I... WTF ?!

Apparently, from what I know, people are saying that Feysand is abusive starting in book 4, when... no ? Yes, it sucks that Rhysand hid the pregnancy problem from Feyre, but you know what stress can do to an already stressed pregnant woman ? A miscarriage. And clearly, even if Rhysand wasn't perfect on this one, the risk and fear it provoked in him made sense. Making a mistake in a healthy relationship isn't the end of the world, especially with such a complicated situation, essentially dead end. The purpose of this plot specifically being Nesta's rescue for her relationship with Feyre. Maybe SJM didn't handle the scenario very well, but that's okay in itself. Especially since Rhysand planned to talk to Feyre about it at one point or another. He wasn't planning on hiding it from her until the birth or never telling her ! What would have really been toxic is... oh I don't know, absolutely wanting to risk having your son at the risk of Feyre's life and the baby no matter what by hiding it from her ?! (And let me have a doubt, but Rhysand's life was just as threatened as Feyre... If one dies, so does the other. No ?!) Also, it's a fantasy universe... I mean, a mistake in a couple of two immortal Fae essentially caused by the fear of the death of your partner and your baby... Uh, I think we can forgive, right ? This is nothing compared to the whole relationship Feyre had with Tamlin !

I've literally seen people say that if Feyre had died at the end of the book, it would have confirmed that Rhysand was toxic / abusif, but in what way ? I remind you that Feyre knew about it at that time and that no matter if she would have known from the start, there was no solution for Feyre's case ! It was literally a no-win situation ! Rhysand would have been abusive of what ? For getting her pregnant ? Knowing that Feyre wanted this baby and was the one who decided to have one ? Also, these people were even talking about the fact that Rhysand would probably have blamed himself for Feyre's death but believed that he had done the moral and right thing... Like WTF ? Did these people even forget that Rhysand would have died with Feyre if she was fucking dead ?! They don't even make the effort to pretend they know what they're talking about ! Seriously, the reasoning of the antis is slammed to the ground.

Rhysand essentially wanted to avoid any risk of unnecessary stress to Feyre (because once again it's fucking dangerous) in the sense that he hoped to find a solution to save her before telling her about the problem. And then, even if he didn't tell her right away after understanding that no, there was no solution, I would like to see you there telling the love of your life that she is inevitably going to die during delivery with the baby, when she was so happy and impatient to have this child and start this new chapter of your life together ?!

Oh, and apparently the protective shield was toxic... You know, that same shield, brought in with the new threat emanating from the mortal queens, Beron's schemes and fucking Koshei... (Knowing that Rhys literally said in book 2 that he would be terrified to see his soulmate pregnant while they were surrounded by enemies, and the idea of what he would be capable of doing if Feyre was expecting a child and that she was threatened or harmed. Well I don't even see how this shield thing would shock the reader or be out of character for Rhysand...) This same protective shield that Feyre accepted despite gently making fun of it with Cassian, and that Rhysand then lowered so that she could be in contact with their family members whenever they wanted and / or whenever the moment presented itself once they were able to fully master it. So basically she could still touch her family / people she wanted... (Especially since Feyre may have a shield on her, but she is not kept locked up. She is free to go out and do what she wants. At one point, Feyre even says that she should accompany Nesta, Casian and Azriel into danger, after Rhysand says the same thing, then Rhysand corrects it by saying that they should accompany them both. Not that she shouldn't go. He's not fucking controlling her !) The real toxicity would have been keeping the shield on under all circumstances despite the conversation Feyre and Cassian had about it the first time he was addressed.

When I think of Zoyalai, I think, my god they could have been epic. If Zoya had stayed in line with what her character was in the original trilogy to actually be an anti-heroine by taking the female lead of the duology instead of LB's plot armor to make her perfect, I would surely would have loved a romance with her and Nikolai. I always saw great potential. And if only Nikolai had also remained this great, striking character of the trilogy instead of becoming this naive and borderline incompetent king of the duology, adoring Zoya to the point of giving her his fucking crown ? Seriously, why is this ?! They could have been great together ! Oh and also if LB hadn't spent the entire duology spitting on the Darkling by blaming him for all of Ravka's problems and shoving Malina's great happiness down our throats again. Frankly, a true Nikolai duology set a few years after the events of the trilogy is always appealing. But that's not what we got. What we got was a duology about Zoya being some kind of cheap copy of Daenerys Targaryen. (Rather ironic knowing that LB doesn't like Daenerys. That + the fact that LB doesn't like Mr Rochester from Jane Eyre makes her even more unbearable in my eyes as authors. Madam, you don't understand anything about Daenerys from ASOIAF, and you didn't understand anything about Mr Rochester from Jane Eyre. But at this stage, nothing surprises me about her anymore). In any case, if I had to name a couple that is everything Zoyalai should / could have been it's basically Manorian AKA Manon & Dorian from the Throne of Glass book series (my second favorite couple from this book series by the way) from Sarah J Mass. If one day you read this series you will surely understand what I mean. All this to say that at this stage of disgust for the duology I will probably sell it. Hoping to be able to erase without problems my old notes full of anger, in pencil, on certain pages dating back quite some time now... 😅

Not gonna lie, at first I liked the idea of this ship. But it lasted less than a month when I heard of their duology counterparts and what they have done and said.

For me, Nikolai and Zoya are full of words and words but no action. They threaten, whine and curse but, in the end, they do nothing. And the narrative solves it for them.

I never heard of Bardugo not liking Daenerys. I only know that she loved Sansa's character. So send me the link where she said that if you can.

I have no problem with Leigh as a person. But I have a problem with her as an author because she just isn't good at it. Writing isn't only the talent of writing beautiful, poetic lines but also to keep a coherent story and characters that develop throughout the story.

(and if you create a persecuted group of people do not throw them to the bin afterwards. Just a friendly advice for any aspiring authors out there)

And good for you if you decide to sell these books. With the money you'll gain you can buy something more... worthy to have.

Thoughts on multi shippers? I’m in absolute hell today. Missing my feysand, manorian, and rowaelin days. It’s rough, and I’ve seen you around, you seem to handle it gracefully.

I love multishipping! I am down for Gwynriel, Elriel, Elucien, Emorie, Morlain, not to mention all of the other rare pair potential! I really hate when antis generalize. "All Elriels are horrible about..." and "All Eluciens are horrible because..." Because I have plenty of mutuals as well as myself really just trying to ship and let ship. My general policy is if I see someone being a jerk off of anon I immediately block. It's probably how I've kept my sanity and positive fandom attitude.

I'm not super into Throne of glass, though I have read it a couple of times and written for a few pairings. My top ships there are Malide and Rowaelin. I like Manorian, but Malide had so much potential and if SJM tried to write a gxg ship I would be obsessed with them.

The only ship I truly anti is Feylin. But again, filtering his pro tags and blocking crazy big-time stans keeps me sane here.

I think my freedom from negativity also has to do with me being a small fish in the fic part of the fandom. I have mutuals getting so much hate right now just for their ships and I wish this could be a safe space for everyone.

Anti-Manorian people are so weird.

At worst, people should just be neutral to Manorian because it literally doesn't affect them: Dorian's only other actual love interests are taken or dead and Dorian is the only serious love interest Manon is given.

Also the idea that extreme mutual attraction and consensual kinky sex can't ever be part of a long-lasting relationship between two people of similar rank who greatly respect each other and are willing to sacrifice their own ideals for the other's health/happiness is hilarious. I'm asexual and still understand sex is part of many people's long-lasting relationships lol

Like, sorry, not even in an SJM book can every character be physically and emotionally abused for half a novel before falling in love with their abuser.
