Hey, Hope you're having good Holidays? 👋
Do you think there's going to be a big twist coming up in bnha?
Or maybe a twist big villain or something?
Because all the other villains have been taken out of commission and there's still doesn't seem to be any way for deku to save/defeat shigaraki. (Nothing that we've been shown so far.)
Because shigaraki does seem to be more powerful than deku and even if they do FINALLY start talking, deku seems to be in the same place 'ideal wise' as he was several arcs ago.
Like what could deku say that could prove his point (not that he really has much of a point, as he still hasn't really even thought about trying to fix hero society's giant flaws) to shigaraki now?
Even more, what could deku do, since he's still focusing on the crying child inside shigaraki and not what made the crying child?
Well my answers about the same as it's been for a long while now; I agree Deku's not in the right headspace to save Tomura and probably can't cram the character development to get into that headspace in at the last second before/during his metaphorical final exam here. He still needs to further develop his own views on things if he wants to challenge & change Tomura's views. Maybe Deku could convince him the entire country's not a lost cause and he shouldn't destroy it within a few chapters, but there's a massive gap between that and actually saving him the way we usually mean. The fact the other villains have not really been saved either so far doesn't really help my opinion of Deku's chances.
Tumblr media
So yes I do expect a big twist and, same as ever, I expect that twist to be that this is not the final arc and we'll get a My Hero part 2 after Hori takes a long break. It's basically the only real meaningful twist I can think of at this point that'd resolve this time conflict without rushing resolutions that should not be rushed. Especially with Kurogiri (& maybe Machia if he’s alive) still left as dangling plot threads that could potentially recover the villains.
(Though I would not hate it, half just because I think it'd be funny, if the HC president came out of nowhere to reveal she survived clone-stro and is taking over as big bad so that Deku...idk, reevaluates the system he's protecting or something.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Although while we're discussing where Deku is, ideal-wise, I have been meaning to go over my current criticisms with him for a bit; which to discuss below a cut:
Is mainly that he’s kind of just All Might again. He's like All Might in nearly every way that counts and his only aspiration is to be All Might 2 and save everyone he can like All Might did. I mean I’ve seen people sometimes say "no Deku’s totally different and better than All Might in this or that way" but those ways often seem to assume All Might was a lot worse, less kind, and more independent than he really was.
(And also that Deku is less independent than he really is; just compare this arc to Kamino, where they both work alongside their hero peers...until they feel the need to take on the final boss 1v1.)
Like, as someone critical of the hero society All Might built, I’ll bet I often come off as thinking All Might wasn’t a good hero. But that’s not so, I think All Might did the best he could have done, and moreover the best anyone could’ve done trying to fix things the way he did. I doubt anyone could've hero'd much better than him. If Deku were sent back in time to replace All Might, the best he could’ve done is about what All Might did. And if All Might faced all the hurdles Deku has, at the same power level for each, I believe he’d have managed at least as happy an ending to every arc.
So the great hurdle of this all is: All Might was the greatest hero he could possibly have been...but he also wasn't enough. The various ways the League were driven to villainy to form the group at all is proof of that. And that's why a rehash sequel to him won't be enough either. I understand why Deku and everyone else admires All Might, but he can't be doing the same things expecting much better results. If he does, then even if he does save Tomura here in the same way the rest of the League has been "saved" so far (a tall order already when Tomura's made clear he doesn't want another All Might), I fear he'll just face another League led by another Tomura in the future; another Tenko who was failed by Deku this time.
I was watching some A-Team very soon after watching Miami Vice, and realized that the shows are tonally opposites to each other. Ever since then I haven't been able to stop thinking about how the MV characters would react to the A-Team - four fugitives flouting the law, but actively putting away felon after felon.
I realize that the A-Team is a much friendlier show for children, and serves a very different purpose than the stories told by MV, but the juxtaposition of justice between the two fandoms was something that I wanted to explore - even if it was only a little.
I wrote this little short with no specific time in the MV storyline on my mind. It could honestly fit in lots of different places, so feel free to imagine it where you'd like.
"Three years." Crockett said, and Tubbs didn't respond, well aware that his partner was just getting started. "Three years!" Crockett stood up, pacing back and forth as he continued, "We work our way in, we get close, we finally get enough to set up a bust and what happens?" He threw up his hands, "Some vigilante fugitives show the hell up out of nowhere and put Milford away in a week."
Tubbs wasn't sure if Crockett was finished, and so he didn't respond. Even if his partner was finished, he didn't really know what he would say.
Crockett was right.
The silence stretched as Sonny continued pacing, but before Tubbs could decide if it was time to talk, Crockett dropped into the chair next to his. "Makes you wonder why we even try to do it this way."
"It's legal." Tubbs said.
"But does it even work?" Crockett's tone was completely and totally genuine, and his expression - when Tubbs met it - was almost desperate. "If four guys can show up and take care of a guy that we've been after for years … put 'im away with enough evidence to keep him in jail for life … then what are we doin'?"
Another silence followed the bleak statement, and Tubbs considered his response before asking, "Do you wanna become a vigilante too?"
Crockett gave him an annoyed look, but it was tempered with a note of gratitude. "You know I don't."
"Then we're stuck doin' it this way." Tubbs shrugged, but cut Sonny off before the other man could respond. "We've gotten a few, too." He tapped his partner's badge where it lay on the table, "You don't flash this around because you've been sittin' on your thumbs." Sonny looked away, clearly recognizing that Rico was right. "So let's go get the next guy."
"Yeah." With a swipe of his hand, Crockett pocketed his shield, standing back up in the same movement.
---
Now after all of that I do have a question for the Vicelings out there: do you guys think that Crockett and Tubbs would be willing to go vigilante after "Freefall?" I'd genuinely love to hear thoughts on that.
spoilers for River, but not much and not really plot related.
So. Larkwing, a WindClan she-cat, has two sons out of literal nowhere, and even though no one probably cares, I have a prediction on who the father of her kits is.
Larkwing is described on the wiki as a pale brown tabby she-cat. One of her sons, Brookkit, is described as a black and white tom, and her other son, Stripekit, is described as a gray tabby tom.
Now, I don't know all that much about cat genetics, or Larkwing, but I'm gonna explain my prediction.
First off, I don't think Larkwing has a mate outside of WindClan, because I feel like it would have been mentioned when couples like Shellfur (ThunderClan) and Fernstripe (WindClan) and Spireclaw (ShadowClan) and Fringewhisker (SkyClan) came to light and switched Clans. Thus she needs an eligible tom from WindClan.
I made a list of currently living WindClan toms to start. Harestar, Crowfeather, Kestrelflight, Breezepelt, Emberfoot, Leaftail, Slightfoot, Oatclaw, Crouchfoot, Hootwhisker, and Flutterfoot.
Right away I cut Emberfoot, Breezepelt, Crowfeather, Kestrelflight, Flutterfoot, and Oatclaw away. Emberfoot is Larkwing's father. Enough said. Breezepelt and Heathertail don't appear to be splitting up anytime soon, and I don't believe Breezepelt would cheat either, despite some opinions on him. Crowfeather I don't believe is going to have another mate ever again. He's had three, and I just find it highly unlikely he'd be the dad of Larkwing's kits. Kestrelflight seems pretty devoted to his medicine cat job, and I don't believe the kits are his either. Flutterfoot is Larkwing's nephew. And Oatclaw is the mate of Larkwing's sister, and Oatclaw's kits are relatively young. One isn't even a warrior yet, so I sincerely doubt anything would happen between him and Larkwing.
This cuts the list down to Harestar, Leaftail, Slightfoot, Crouchfoot, and Hootwhisker. Leaftail had an apprentice and was fully a warrior by The Power Of Three, and Larkwing wasn't apprenticed until Omen of the stars, so i don't believe Leaftail to be the father of her sons. Harestar becomes a warrior in power of three, and I also just feel like he wouldn't want kits or a mate. Regardless. I don't believe Harestar is the father of Larkwings kits. Crouchfoot is apprenticed at the same time as Larkwing, and Hootwhisker and Slightfoot are made warriors sometime before A Vision of Shadows starts.
We're down to 3 possible mates. Crouch, Hoot, and Slight. I don't believe Crouchfoot to be the father, partially due to the fact that he doesn't seem to interact with Larkwing much after being apprenticed together, and partially because he's a ginger cat and I don't believe Larkwing's colors would've completely trumped his if they had kits together.
Now we've narrowed it down to 2. I do not believe Slightfoot to be the father, because even though I feel his coloring (he's mostly black with a flash of white) match up, he doesn't seem to be very close with Larkwing at all either.
The finale is here folks! I believe that Hootwhisker is the father of Larkwings newborn baby sons! He's not related to her in any way we know of, he's about her age/give or take a few moons, he doesn't have a mate or kits already. He's dark gray in color, which mixed with her pale brown tabby could potentially produce and black and white kit and a gray tabby kit, and he actually seems to spend a considerable amount of time with Larkwing!
they're both part of the patrol that looks for watermint with Alderheart, they guarded together on that same trip, and they were on a hunting patrol together.
Now, I am by no means saying this is absolutely the only possibility. It's just a little prediction I made. Maybe Larkwing does have a mate outside of WindClan. Maybe her mate is never revealed, or maybe it's one of the cats I left out for one reason or another. But I think that these two could be cute together, and that it would be a wholesome post due to all the craziness that takes place in river.
Transits : Mars In the 8th House
I can't promise this will be the beginning of a series of posts, but hey, journaling through one particular planet as it transits through your life seems like a good idea.
Things have been weird lately. I don't remember when but I went from being completely drenched in astrology studies and reading through thousands of astrology related tweets a day, to having very little interest in the topic at all.
I've had that inner excitability that feels like I'm... a piece of flint. Everything is rubbing up against me and lighting me on fire, but not in a good way-- in fact I am feeling ANGER, an emotion I am absolutely terrible at coping with.
Cope. C o p e. I read something today that said "don't cope the same way you celebrate".
What am I coping with right now?
this month (July 2022) marks 10 years since a major, life-altering trauma... one that I don't think will ever be fully healed. A lot of thoughts are just coming up despite trying to not give it any sustained attention. The body really does remember.
a few weeks ago, my mom started having a major health issue. She has a heart defect that was never symptomatic but suddenly she's having scary episodes where her chest gets tight and painful, she feels like there's something stuck inside her neck, she can't speak or walk, but it goes away after a few minutes. She can't be seen by a cardiologist for several more months, and when she did go to the emergency room, they ran an EKG and echocardiogram, her vitals, two rounds of blood work, and somehow found NO irregularities. Which sounds like bullshit to me. She has an existing leaky valve condition and every doctor she goes to mentions that she has an abnormal heart murmur. She has a leaky valve. How is it that this emergency department didn't pick up even health issues she knows she has. UGH! Just writing about this is making me angry! She's been bumped up to 10 hour work days at the Post Office and taking time off isn't something she sees as an option. So yeah, I feel like every day could be the day someone at work finds her unresponsive in the bathroom or something. I don't really feel like she's going to die, but more like something is about to happen that is going to change everything in her life.
Which then makes me start thinking about my own physical stability. When my presence here begins to become a real burden on my parents in any way, I feel like I need to get out of here. Then I start spiraling. I literally don't know how I'm going to pick myself up and get into my own place, being on disability and not having had a job for the last 10 years because of it. Right now, I can't seem to save a penny. Again this month I completely ran out of money 7 days before pay day. EVERYTHING in my life needs restructured. My partner, even though we've been together for 9 years, is nowhere near wanting to officially share an address with me. I can't count on him to help me do anything, honestly. Sometimes he is extremely helpful and generous and kind but more often than not he is just impatient to hear about my problems and responds to all of them by yelling at me and putting me down for my past failures.
the money thing. 6 more days of $0.
My partner is expecting me to save a few hundred dollars so we can go to the Cape in September. I just want to cry thinking about it.
I'm having those dreams that I can't really remember I keep waking up feeling emotionally battered from them...
But here are some less bad things, just because posting a completely negative list is against my beliefs :)
I was getting concerned that my sexuality was rapidly disappearing. We were falling into a rut of almost being afraid to touch eachother, which I feel like we partially broke through recently. I guess I have been able to respond to what I know he really wants and needs a little better lately.
I am doing really good in physical therapy. Doing more exercise at home, which seems to be making a difference. I still can't really feel parts of my leg and foot, but there have been a few times in PT doing some major traction (having him yank my leg out of socket basically) where feeling floods back for a minute or two.
Now that I think about it, I was having a really scary IBS flare like a month ago that actually ended and I'm not feeling like nearly as bad as I was.
He's more like her arrogant and think they can get it back and to make sure they don't
His firebird idea is one of the best ideas I've ever heard and he said it might be Billy z and yes one of his ideas but you touched on it it's because you're tired of riding the bicycle around almost getting an accidents with every single idiot that comes by you and in the car we go after them pretty hard now I've seen this before reaction to the firebird is very positive but with red it would not be so good and you have to try it but we're pretty sure it's not great it is blue it's not so good either the other works really well but you're saying this at this time it might not be good either so we might try it cuz we think you're right and burgundy is different. We got a lot of hoots and laughs from our people because of what these idiots are saying and they looked at and said wow that thing is actually very hot it looks like a supercar kind of and they couldn't believe it it was really cool looking and we have a way of getting it there and a way to get it to you but you say you have enough money for it now and we know you don't see you sit there cuz you can't do it and people like the idea of having it in the first place and then having an end of disguised as a Camaro and the Z28 now it's an SS and they like the idea of having it look modernized and probably have LS1 attachments on a regular old Camaro motor any like that stuff the only thing they don't like cuz you driving around having a good time but it represents us actually succeeding and they would be pissed off for sure when you think it's just concrete they have to face so they feel bad for you. We're going to go ahead and start putting it together and we probably already did but it's a good idea and having a smaller motor is a good idea I think it was way too heavy that big block we like 1200 lb and the 341 or what have you 342 ways about 800 lb it's still very heavy and nowhere near that heavy that's ridiculous this is more like 600 pounds and that's more like it they need that in front of voice it's really heavy and it wasn't done up right for some reason it was weak and three speed is enough and I'll fix up inside of course there's nothing I'm going to be stock. And I guess he'd have to have a reason to have a car that's just a tool around and you'd have to pay insurance and still be 60 bucks a month or something like that it'll be $1,000 a year or seven hundred dollars a year it's not cheap with the older car would be less expensive. He just doesn't have that kind of money it requires maintenance and gasoline oil insurance and a few other things regular wear and tear and problems so really it's not going to happen unless he has some cash they say they don't feel like it that's fine what bill is he wants to get him in the vehicle and he's been thinking about it and he had a plan and stuff and it's not really that great but he got him the firebird in the first place because the shell is real metal and it's like a fair day cage and the frame is steel the engine is huge and solid steel kidnapping with it. Had the aluminum bike does nothing he tested a lot and it doesn't do anything just kind of sits there while the guy fries so it's back to the drawing board
There's about 60 people here and say no but half of them think it's a good idea and the other half think it's decent and they say all sorts of things about the firebird what to do to it how to treat it all sorts of stuff he would not believe it.
There are about 7,000 people screaming for him to get the vehicle and it's going to spread
Thor Freya
You don't like it but this is one of the most popular ideas you've had we've had in the Tommy f came up with most people think it's a good idea including the max and we have to review it and what you say is you don't have any money so a month or two for them to get out of their own way and we agree just so slow
The Good and Bad of Secret Crush On You (SCOY)
SPOILER WARNING. C/W: fatphobia, stalking.
Unlike most shows I've watched thus far, most of SCOY's highs and lows come in the form of its characters. Rather than specific concepts or events that evoke my love or disdain, each particular character leaves me with a certain feeling nudges me one way (this is a decent drama) or another (this is a bad drama). So, in contrast to my previous installments of The Good and Bad of... series, this one will examine each character and how they make the show better or worse, starting with:
The Good
Daisy. Loved that we got a canonically trans character who hadn't physically transitioned. It was awesome to see her story depicted on screen. My only critique is that they kind of sprang her character development on us out of nowhere.
Intouch. What an incredible character to add to a BL. I loved that at every point he affirmed Daisy and never seemed to overstep any boundaries.
Som. Girlie might as well be Yiwha's child. She is the realest friend out there and is always there for Daisy, Jao, and Toh. It's sad that she never really got the onscreen treatment she deserved but I just loved her presence and felt like she made every scene she was in a little bit better.
The Bad
Kong. Why even add this character? What was his purpose? His entire storyline was boring, somewhat predictable, and trite. We've seen it before and we've seen it better. The only good we got out of this was First.
Prao. Why, lord, why are we still doing the jealous/catty ex gf trope in 2022? Ging is so incredibly beautiful and had some moments of intrigue, it's just irritating how she got reduced down to a stereotype. What's even more is I feel like it wasn't even necessary. At no point in the story did I ever feel like Nuea wanted her and at no point did I feel like Toh actually saw her as competition. Toh was more concerned about Van Gogh (a phantom person he had never met and didn't even realize was himself) than he was about Prao. So, again I ask, what was her purpose?
Jao. I just...wow. The way they fumbled the bag with Jao is soul crushing. The sad part is, I liked Jao. I thought his storyline dealing with fatphobia would've been an intriguing one. But the writers had to go and screw him over by basically telling him "It's okay if you're chubby because one day you'll get skinny and everything will be fine." What kind of message is that? Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with a person wanting to change their lifestyle. But in a story that's supposed to be showing a character gaining self-confidence, the problem comes in when instead of the motivation coming internally, it comes only from others. Plus, this storyline, much like Daisy's transitioning, seemingly came out of nowhere. But honestly what really gets me about Jao's character more than anything is how infantilized he is. Why does he whine all the time? Why is he always acting like anything he doesn't approve of is oh so scandalous? Despite being canonically allosexual, he treats anything involving sex like you would expect a really young person would rather than an adult. I don't necessarily even mind characters like this (I liked UWMA well enough despite Pharm basically being this same character), it's just that Jao is aggravating a lot of the time.
Toh. Making Toh a redeemable character is probably the worst decision the writers of this show could have ever made. Toh is the worst friend in BL. This man's chief concern is his collection. Even when his so-called best friend is going through things, he's usually the last to notice (as he's preoccupied with Nuea). The story NEVER establishers why he and Nuea even like each other in the first place. He's unrelatable and he's a criminal. But in the end he gets redeemed as if all his stalking and stealing had no impact on the people he stalked and stole from. The more BL I consume, the more tolerant I become of certain tropes, character traits, and even violence, etc., but only when it's done well/realistically. Toh's character traits are very unique but peoples' reactions to him are what I find unrealistic. I get why he feels he can only look but can't touch, but he takes it to the extreme and the fact that people just kind of excuse it just gets under my skin so much lol.
Okay so this one became a stream of consciousness (especially toward the end). I promise I liked many parts of the show but the characters were borderline insufferable much of the time and at a point it got kind of boring lmao
Daylight Prairie- Creatures of the Light (lore dump)
I've had a couple of theories and headcanons stirring around my head regarding Prairie for a while now- so right here we're gonna tie some of them together cuz I haven't lored in a good long while XD
Note- btw I'm not part of beta so this is purely just me- a crackhead- putting together a crackpot narrative. SOME spoilers for Eden are present.
<THE CEREMONIAL WORSHIPPERS>
okay these guys drive me fucking nuts
We barely know anything about these guys- and what little we do know is derived purely from their closed off uh... Worshipping space. Look at this freaking thing.
Tumblr media
In the middle of nowhere. Surrounded by clouds for miles. Fairly advanced diamond technology. Altars with graves decked out in gold and candles. The mechanism for the entrance to the elevator to begin with is fairly complex as well- activated by butterflies and the butterflies don't even die in the process. And to top everything off, this place has a portal that leads directly to the Prairie Temple.
If this isn't sus I don't know what is- but I think I have an explanation.
There are six spaces for six more people that we are not aware of. The only people we DO know of is one bald person in the short garb and another bald person in the long garb. I propose that these six missing people are the Whisperers.
Which is... pretty out there, I know. Counting the 'voices' that we get in game, (including the ones from previous Seasons like Lightseekers and Sanctuary) we have one for Birds, Whales, Mantas, Memories, Crabs, and Jellyfish. For now, we're not counting either Butterflies or Krill- and I'll explain why in a bit.
As for the initial proposition that these Whisperers are the missing six, first we need to ask ourselves what exactly it was that the Worshippers were... worshipping. There is a possible god of which we see in game, and the name of this god is the Megabird.
Tumblr media
Megabird here was heavily present in concepts, and in the final product we only ever get to see traces of her and heck to this day we're not sure if she's a canon entity in the final game at all. Megabird as an entity in the concepts is basically the god overseeing the world of Sky and is comprised entirely of light. It's unclear whether or not the Ancestors were aware of her existence after or even before the King rose to power. The Elders themselves are likely privy to this information, but somehow I doubt that it's something anyone wanting to assert control over their people would encourage.
There's certainly the possibility that these Worshippers were a religious sect dedicated to the Elders themselves- but since I'm here trying to propose that they're worshipping something tangential to the possible actual god, we're going to assume this isn't the case. On that note-
<THE WORSHIPPERS WERE DEVOUT TO LIGHT ITSELF>
I propose that the Ceremonial Worshippers valued the Light above all else- and this worship was extended towards the light creatures themselves.
'Oi. Vir. Crabs are DARK Creatures.'
Tumblr media
Not all of them. Heck, a dark crab might not have been the norm back then, but that's a stretch and besides- the fact is that these crabs on the far end of Sanctuary are docile.
Keep in mind that these followers were stationed in Prairie, of all places. You know what else is in Prairie? Sanctuary Isles- home to several kinds of manta, butterflies, jellyfish, and even the elusive Elder Manta (yes that's what the big chonky boi that looks like a light krill is called- it's not a whale.).  Daylight Prairie is in no shortage of light creatures- and at the center of it all is its Elder.
Prairie Elder is implied to have responsibilities toward the light creatures as presented in the SkyShop poem featuring them:
'Fields of harvest, prairies of joy.
Farmer and fauna as one.
The Elder protects the creatures of light,
For darkened days to come.
Fly up, fly away,
For the Children of Light in need.
We shall recall our days of wonder,
And feel its air once more.'
-SkyShop Poem (Prairie Elder Pin)
In the greater context of the story, Daylight Prairie is the primary source of light energy in the form of the light creatures- it makes sense that the Elder of that realm would oversee the flow of light creatures from one realm to the other, and that the Ancestors in their domain would have a greater respect for the creatures than others. They're the ones working with them, and they're the ones that know them best.
Enter the Worshippers- who were likely serving directly under the Prairie Elder. I'm not confident that the Prairie Elder could have shared information about the Megabird- or if they even know the god existed. 'The Light itself' is pretty vague for something to be worshipped, and it's possible that the Prairie Elder instead encouraged people that the Light manifested itself into the various light creatures that we see.
In this world however- industrialization marches on, and eventually these light creatures became things to be harvested rather than worshipped. It's speculated that light creatures were used in the production of diamonds- we see signs of this scattered throughout Forest, and Wasteland by proxy. The mural under the bridge in Forest and the doors to the Temple seem to suggest as much at least. Eventually, this industrialization will grow out of hand. I have a few theories on what the Prairie Elder might have done to passively rebel against this.
<PRAIRIE ELDER AND THE BUTTERFLIES>
We learn in the Prairie Elder's cutscene that they are able to form- not summon- butterflies from fire. I'm not proposing that the Prairie Elder is single-handedly responsible for the existence of butterflies- rather I'm proposing through the Prairie Elder's abilities that light is able to be manipulated in such a way that one can create light creatures, should they know how.
It could just be the butterflies, honestly. And really it could just be the Prairie Elder that's capable of such a feat- and because of these holes in this theory it's the first to go.
And yes this is the reason why the Butterflies don't count. I think. That has holes too and I can make a case for the Butterfly Charmer technically being part of this... But I digress.
<SANCTUARY ISLES>
Sanctuary Islands could be a literal Sanctuary for the light creatures- there is an impressive variety of them present. It's also very out of the way, tucked away in a corner of Bird's Nest. The theory I'm proposing here is that the Prairie Elder and the Sanctuary Guide worked together to keep this place hidden from the rest of the Kingdom- and that it was the Sanctuary Guide that broke the bells that would have granted the Ancestors access to the light creatures.
<THE WORSHIPPERS DISBANDED>
This is... probably improbable, but my whole post was leading up to this so we're doing this. The missing six Worshippers are the Whisperers that we've encountered throughout the game- leaving in order to either develop their relationship with or protect their creatures of choice.
The Bird Whisperer stayed close and remained in Prairie- and is probably the reason why Bird's Nest exists at all. The Jellyfish Whisperer remained as well, opting to stay in Sanctuary- the natural habitat of the jellyfish.
The Whale Whisperer ventured to Forest- where there probably once was a small population of Whales, given the corpse we see in the Bridge Area and the live Whale in the Underground Cavern.
The Manta Whisperer went to Valley- I'm guessing to see how mantas were being used for labor and competitions? And Valley is right next to Wasteland so I might be reaching but they could have been monitoring that too.
The Crab Whisperer is a tricky one because we see them travelling with the Lightseekers, and yes I am proposing that this lady was formerly a Worshipper. But because we're dealing with a creature that we now know is more dark than light, maybe the Crab Whisperer joined the Lightseekers in order to observe that phenomenon more closely? Because she does refer to the crabs as friends in her SkyShop poem. Wasteland wasn't always a... wasteland, after all. Things could have been different, and the crabs could have been adapting in a time where they would be relatively dangerous but not so much that an Ancestor couldn't approach them.
And then there's the Memory Whisperer. For this one, I don't think a spirit manta actually exists- at least, not as an organic creature and moreso just an interactive holograph courtesy of the machinations of Vault. I'm actually not too sure on what this person could have been doing, but they have a call- and my best guess is that the Memory Whisperer is one who listens to the last vestiges of light leftover by a creature- because we do see skeletons in Vault, and one is of a creature that looks like an amalgamation of several spirit mantas.
<WHY DON'T THE KRILL COUNT?>
Tumblr media
As far back as Prophecy, Krill don't appear to be aligned with the light. They aren't depicted as former light creatures, nor a corrupted variant of an elder manta or whale- they are presented as thenselves in that Prophecy mural. Though I'm sure we'll get a Krill call later on, I'm not going to count them until then.
<CONCLUSION...?>
This huge post is... full of holes and heavy speculation, I'm aware. Mostly I just wanted to dump a bunch of shower thoughts and leftover lore I came up in the Discord lore chat. Go check it out sometime, I've derived a few points in this from interacting with people there. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this matter, by the way- it's fun theorizing! I haven't done this seriously in a long while.
I might go more in-depth after the marathon rewatch next week but for now here's my take on Fena:
For the most part I love the characters, and more importantly the character dynamics. That's where this show really shines.
Yukimaru is my favorite type of character (he's a dead-ringer for Haji from Blood+), and he singlehandedly carried the series for me, but the whole crew have just enough distinct personality traits to feel like a cohesive unit without being reduced to walking character archetypes. They're identifiable by their roles, but them playing off each other is what makes them feel like a crew that's been living and fighting together for a long time.
And then there's Fena. While she initially seems like the happy-go-lucky yet occasionally strong-willed protagonist we've come to recognize from other American attempts at anime-style productions, I didn't realize what resonated about her until the last episode.
When Fena learned she would lose her memories, and told Yukimaru she wasn't going to be herself anymore and she was scared, it hit me like a truck.
At the time I thought that it came out of nowhere (like a lot in this show does, I'll get to that) but thinking back to the first few episodes it occurred to me that she's always struggled with her sense of self, especially when finding Eden was dependent on incredibly contrived information from her hazy, likely repressed childhood memories. And whenever she was on to something, her past life memories took over and she moved as if possessed. And once she realizes this in the finale she breaks down, screaming at the god-like Observer to go ahead and make her choose whatever he wants; he's already chosen everything else for her.
Between fearing losing her identity with her memories, and questioning how much of her actions were really ever up to her, Fena's earlier happy-go-lucky "let's go this way because I feel it in my gut" attitude becomes hauntingly relatable. That was me when I was younger, for the same reasons, and I'm still absolutely terrified of becoming a different person if I lose important memories or whole pieces of my personality with age, like I've seen happen to aging relatives.
This is the core of her character, and it's incredibly nuanced, but I didn't put the pieces together until the finale because this series suffers from a couple of related glaring issues.
The pacing is a mess, with status-quo altering revelations almost every episode to the point where an actual status quo barely exists, and so many cliffhangers that every episode it's like they drop a bombshell and before you can blink the credits are playing.
I partially blame this on this being a 12-episode short-form series trying to encapsulate the sweeping adventure, mystery, and antics of longer series in the genre, but really it's more of an issue with the storytelling than the length;
The most common complaint I've seen about Fena is its worldbuilding, and I have to agree that's the biggest issue, but here's the thing:
They knew where things were headed the whole time, and in hindsight the mythology is surprisingly internally consistent.
The problem is the insistence on focusing the brunt of the plot on the mystery aspect. Fena struggles to remember her past, while the literally fabled crew suddenly appear to beseech her to solve the mystery of a place called "Eden" (but also called several other things because that makes it more cryptic) but one of them has ulterior motives (and a terrifying older brother who turns out to be a footnote), meanwhile a brooding noble pines over his past which is somehow also connected, let alone how contrived and convoluted the actual means to get to Eden are. It's as if the only way to get there is to be actively led by the hand of fate the writers.
Conceptually a "One-Piece" -esque treasure trove which holds all the world's great lost treasures (sure hope they saved the Library of Alexandria) is great, and even the mythology about Fena being part of a carefully manipulated line of Joan of Arc descendants with divinely-ordained purpose checks out once you know the whole story.
But that's the thing about mysteries- withholding information from the viewer is the point.
A well-written mystery will subtly reveal just enough that you figure out what's going on, and feel satisfied when the characters ultimately reach the same conclusion. That Batman movie was an okay example, playing with viewers' expectations for established characters to obscure the fact that the crack theory was actually the correct one.
But when you have 12 episodes to fit in so many twists and reveals, and you still have to have action sequences and (just the bare minimum amount of) swashbuckler clichés, the series becomes more about the fact that it has a convoluted and poorly-paced plot than about what that plot actually is.
While it's better than intentionally writing a plot no one can predict for the sake of shock value, fitting a complicated mythos with a scope this broad into just 12 episodes results in a story with more confusion than actual mystery.
It's a miracle the characters have any room to breathe, but I'm glad they have their moments, because it's honestly been a long time since I've seen a short-form series with characters this enjoyable.
Just one more thing:
The ending nearly ruined the series for me, seeing Yukimaru resigned to his fate of caring for an amnesiac Fena solidified the Haji (again from Blood+) parallel for me, and it would've been too heartbreaking if not for the glimmer of hope in the semi-ambiguous ending. When Fena bonks Yukimaru and the familiar expression returns to her face (and the voiceover calls back to a prophecy she shouldn't remember), it gives me hope that her memories returned due to Yukimaru's confession. And I have to hold on to that hope, because the bittersweet ending they seemed headed towards up until the final scene would sour my investment in these characters, and the characters are pretty much the glue and popsicle sticks holding this beautiful mess of a show together.
I'm from a different dimension actually Chapter 6 Damian x reader
Tumblr media
Professor X sat in his wheelchair glancing around the room he hums his eyes pouring over all that there was finally landing on Robin. He gives me a look gesturing over at him.
"He informed me about The Crows sir, apparently they have gone under the radar, they've killed three people and the system didn't go off. At first, I thought we still had time, I treated a wound he had it he had come in contact with one and fought it. You know like how Wolverine did, I treated the cut and it's gone, but I was sure they were still in the dream state. But he got injured saving those left how survived probably not far from here, but the fact we didn't even receive the ring can only mean...they've returned under complete control again."
Concern fills the face of professor X, he turns to Robin, who shifts uncomfortably by the entrance of my kitchen. "Who are you then?"
"Robin."
The professor nods not even turning from his spot, he looks over Robin as if completing an inspection.
"How much does this Robin Know Dreki, about you, and The Crows?"
"I told him about the Jal-sein, the old race before the collective mind sharing, and he knows about my box of scales." Professor sighs.
"How did you meet him."
"When he broke through my window last week, infected."
"You gave him some scales to purge poison."
"Yes sir."
"Very good," He moves back to his original spot in the middle of the room. "You have been permitted to stop them at all costs if you must. Your uncle will be here soon to help you kill whatever has brought them back, in the meantime try not to use the stones. We don't want to attract more trouble than what has already been done."
"You're allowing me to put my powers to use?"
"As long as you don't wear it out, vibranium is not easy to turn into clothing."
"What a minute!" Robin's voice carried out through the room. "Just what's going on?"
"Robin," Professor X starts. "your world is being invaded by the Crow so that you become one of the many planets they have drained of life. And to do it they need a vessel that can contain the leader of the Jal-sein, Hok'mor." Professor X looks at him, his use
"And?" Robin says his face remaining unreadable
"I was the vessel, I escaped, destroyed the flagship and the army they had." I shiver moving out from my room to the box still lying on the kitchen table. "They were after the life of my home, so then I became a weapon for my planet." I pull out a bag of coins from the box.
"And what do you intend to do now (Y/N), destroy them yourself." Robin stands in the entryway, professor X stands behind him.
"Yes," I turn to him a chakram and the bag of coins in hand. "so unless you know how to obliterate a bird in 15 seconds or less you need to forget this ever happened and never come back."
"So, why tell me any of this, why tell me about anything why expose yourself?"
"So you can tell your family and friends and hopefully, just maybe you can survive. Because knowing them keeps them out of your head, but too much knowing allows them to enter." I pick up Nightmare, he crawls up to my shoulder and I head out of the kitchen, Robin makes room for me but just barely. I open my closet and pull out the last thing I have, two letters one written in my mother's signature ink and the other in my own handwriting, I hold them out to the professor.
"You know there is nowhere left for me to run professor if I end out getting caught...I just want him to have this. In my letter, papers are containing the custody terms for my brother to Uncle. I just need you to grab them to complete the transfer." Professor X slowly takes the letters where they rematerialize on his side.
"Good-bye Dreki, I will see that these get to your Brother."
Professor fades out of the com, and it clicks turning off, I pick it off the floor and slip it into the pocket of my sweatpants. I pulled out the chakram ready to leave a mark on my hand, I only needed a little bit of blood to completely transform when Robin coughs gaining my attention. He leans against the wall to the left of me now glaring at my form, Nightmare growls at the boy from the corner of my eye I see his fangs getting slightly bigger.
"Are you making it a habit to ignore me while I'm here?"
"No, But I do need you to leave, you can't stay here anymore." I begin to push him out the door in the kitchen, he slaps my hands away confusion leaving his face replacing it's with anger. He open's his mouth and I put a magic orange circle on his head.
"You Robin son of batman, found this information interrogating one of the monsters. It spoke in a language that was foreign but somehow understood all of it. You have made no such connection to the girl Y/N M/N, you did not see a man from another dimension, you came back to thank her for her help you had some tea and you were just leaving." I flick my hand and the circle vanishes, his head lowers for a moment as the information in his head readjusts. He moves to the balcony edge turning to face me the scowl returned to his face.
"Thank you for the tea." he pulls out a grappling hook and leaves without another word. I sigh moving to the same device I used to contact the professor. Picking it up I hold it to my mouth.
"Find me the closest thing to a sorcerer supreme, name and whereabouts contact them when you get there."
I toss it back onto the floor and it roars to life to give me a purple image of the earth and orange magic circles to tracking and moving. I move to my couch and fall asleep waiting for this day to take me.
I wake the next day with the globe still searching for my request I sigh and get ready for work. I thank god that it's just the coffee shop below me, I work on the weekends mostly unless they need an extra member of staff then it's just me and the older lady and her husband. They both owned the building and the shop they helped me get the apartment set up and showed me how to work the coffee machines. I don't really drink coffee though after seeing what a raving maniac my dad became without it, also it was just so bitter no matter how much sugar I put into it. I partially blame my heightened scenes that came with my abilities, so I got free white hot chocolates and any extra flavors I wanted as long as I did my job and chatted with them for a while.
I asked them personally to stay away while I was sick, so they wouldn't be affected. When I get down the stairs Martha, the elderly lady beams thankful that I'm feeling better.
"I so glad you are doing well dear, I know the acidity in our rain makes you sick so Glenn and I got you this umbrella." She hands me a purple umbrella that still has a tag on it, it reads for sun and rain.
"You didn't have to do this Martha, I told you I'm not good with gifts, you already let me stay here on the government's program and gave me a job here, you and Glenn have already done so much." She pushes the umbrella farther into my chest.
"No you do so much for us, you work without complaint, you've also taken care of us and our granddaughter when she came over. When you were sick we were so worried about you so you going to take it or I can give you more gifts."
"Thank you very much."I smile brightly. She pats my shoulder and gestures to the counter to start the machines.
Once all the machines are started, the desserts are placed and the base coffees are made I open shop. Customers come in and some lounge around in the chairs or couches drinking coffees and either studying or chatting with their friends. Molly usually comes on Sunday as one of our regulars, so I would see her then. A few of our regulars are happy to see I'm back at work one of the other tenants gave me a green bean casserole and a hug. It's 5 O'clock and I make a cappuccino as I finish I hear the door open and the bell ring on the counter.
The black-haired blue-eyed male I had gotten to know as detective Richard Grayson, came in every other day at 5, he normally talks often while I tried to take his order. So I memorized what he usually gets so he doesn't block the register so I can still make the register.
"Hey Y/N I'll take the usual."
"I thought so," I hand him his drink " one cappuccino."
He takes his coffee and moves to the bar we have set up if you wanted to watch the process and it's only then I see the other people behind him, one pissed-off looking male with a cigarette in his mouth, Tim Drake, and Damian Wayne. I look back to Richard he smiles at me leaning onto the bar.
"They came with me this time, It's family bonding time."
"You mean you dragged us out of the house to grab a coffee from this place cause you have a schedule."
"It's bonding Jason! Bonding!"
The two began arguing in the shop, I return my attention to the other two boys. Tim as at the counter puts a ten-dollar bill on the counter, while Damian does the same.
"Give me a regular coffee, black, large cup."
"Tea, no sugar, regular size."
Their voices crowed each other but since this happens frequently it was easy enough to at least get their orders down.
"Sure here's your change." I look back to the two arguing and I see Jason didn't put out his cigarette. He taps it and the ash of his drug falls to the floor.
Sighing I move out of the workspace gabbing a tong and a wastebasket, I take out the cigarette and throw it in the bin now gaining the full attention of Jason. I give him a stern look he seemed to freeze, bitting back any words he might have prepared to say before.
"Sir, I am not sure if I made we've previously made It but there is a strict no smoking policy. As you see we have many elderly, and young children in our establishment." I smile but I know my face is full of malice. "But please enjoy your stay at our cozy corner of our fine and fair city." I move back behind the counter start on some of my orders, I look at Jason again the smile still on my face.
"Would you like anything?" He gives me an odd look.
"White hot chocolate, Large," he nods his head over at Richard. "Put it on his tab."
"We don't have a tabs sir, he works for the police."
"So?"
"He gets Free coffee." He gawks at me as if I told him the sky was black, and I see Richard trying to contain his laughter.
"You give that guy free coffee?"
"It's a store policy." I pass out the coffee and the tea and I see from the corner of my eye he pulls out a flask. I grab the tongs again and clap them together, Jason looks at me then grumbles putting the flask back in his jacket, and instead pulls out a five and hands it to me. I take it from him gingerly and head straight to work on his order. I hand him both his spare change and his drink, and the complimentary cookie bag that came with it. He gives me another look.
"They come with a drink." I leave and continued my chores around the shop.
"You are doing much better (m/n)." I whip my head around and look at Damian who's behind me on the other side of the counter. His companions seemed to be in deep conversation amongst themselves.
"Yes, I'm doing just fine, it happens occasionally but nothing like a good cup of tea and a few nights rest couldn't fix." I go back to cleaning the counter.
"You were sick for much longer than that."
"Yeah...it happens." I change the topic to "Did you think of anything for the project?"
"Why not make a model, there is not really much to do with it anyway." I gasp dramatically.
"Not much to do with an astrolabe! You clearly didn't read the whole paper!" By now I have caught the attention of his group. Damian frowns.
"No, your paper was written very well, I just don't think we need to dwell too much on this project seeing as how we really are not presenting." I had heard that bit from Molly.
"I suppose your right." I put away the cleaning supplies and turn back to him. "I'll get started on a model right away!"
"You will do no such thing." His voice is stern. "I will come back later and work on it with you," He moves his chair back and heads out the door.
His companions follow quickly after him and they say their goodbyes.
[][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][]
As promised, he came a few hours later right as my shift ended and another person came for the second half of the day. I moved the glowing tracker to my room so it wouldn't gather any extra attention.
"I have supplies, what is all of that?" my brows furrow staring at the bulging plastic bag in his hand while I turn the keys in my locks. opening the door.
"I wasn't sure if you were prepared." He moves to the door, my arm shoots in his way stopping him.
"I wouldn't go in quite yet."
"What?"
I put a finger to my lips and crouch slowly to the floor, I shake the key in my hand then slid them across the floor. A ball of black attacks the object just as it crosses the doorway. Nightmare attacks the keys rolling around and bitting.
"Ah yes, observe the feral kitten in his natural habitat." I walk inside the door beckoning Damian to follow. "I would beware he is an ankle bitter. You can set up in the living room I'll just drop this guy off in my room."
"Does he attack all the time?"
"He's been like that since I picked him up, I don't blame him he was born in a rough neighborhood." I set Nightmare on the bed next to the floating version of earth. "Watch it make sure it finishes." then head to the living room. Damian has all his stuff set out on the table. There was veneer, paper, paint, some nails, an Exacto knife, a hammer, and a bag of pipe cleaners.
"This looks like stuff to make a birdhouse," I try and pick up some of the wood that was on the table." you realize cardboard, scissors, and a sharpie would have been enough."
"And here I thought you like polished and neat projects."
"yeah, but even with cheap materials you can still create a masterpiece."
"You don't do anything nice for yourself self do you?"
"Dude the most expensive thing I own is a cat who attacks me." I sigh, I sketch out a design for the astrolabe. "Well, why don't you start on the Mater, I'll get to work on the plate for our side of America."
[][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][]
"3 hours of hard work and I got to say it's not bad." I hold the fished product, It's attached to a string of green yarn. "The calculations are down to point." I put it down, I clean up the mess that's on the floor of the living room.
"About the last time we saw each other, I'm sorry."
"It's fine, you probably knew about me from the news already, the big myste#wayne#scifi#damian#bruce#bats#fanfiction#xreader#characterxreader#jason todd#tim drake#character x reader#mxf#fxm#batboys#batboys x reader#Damianxreader#X reader#DC#Marvel#MarvelxReader#DCxreader#batfam#mutants#Damian Wayne x reader ry of the missing journals. So many interviews." I dump the trash in the kitchen, saying that last part mostly to my self.
"You forgive too easily."
"I'm not as forgiving as you think, honestly you view me too highly it that's what you believe. Would you like something before you leave?"
"No, but I have something for you before I go." I open the door to my room and let Nightmare out.
"Oh?" He's already at the door and pulls a shiny gold card from his pocket, he hands it to me.
"Father thought it would be good to meet you."
"Because I'm the daughter of a famous dead professor, is he going to ask about the journals too?"
"No, this is to apologize for my previous behavior."
"Oh," I take the card looking at it uneasily. "I don't think I can go to this, I don't do well at parties."
"Not a very good excuse." He smirks.
"I'll think about it." I push him out the door and give him the Astrolabe, closing the door slowly. " I'll see you at school."
I look at the card again, It's like the parties mom went to I knew them well. While some were nice, others were nice only in their face. I laugh slightly to myself, Molly already called me earlier telling me I was her plus one to the same thing. This was already suspicious enough as it is. I look at Nightmare who cocks his head at me.
"You think I should go, don't you?" the furball nods
"Fine. I was going to be forced into this anyway."
i’ll protect you.
— oikawa, iwaizumi, kuroo, and bokuto protect you from bullies!
Tumblr media
tooru oikawa.
✧。 this might seem a little bit obvious but i’m sure you know that you’re gonna get attacked by oikawa’s fan club eventually
✧。 someone like you with the one and only tooru oikawa ? hardly meant to be .
✧。 they make it very deliberate that you hear the words they say
✧。 " what does tooru see in y/n ? "
✧。 " beats me , comparing them is like comparing a star to a campfire . "
✧。 " and i think we all know who the star is . "
✧。 oikawa notices you're not like yourself during lunch , which makes him worried to say the least
✧。 you're picking at your food with your chopsticks , your face all mopey and down
✧。 tooru is the first person to confront you , because he doesn't like his special y/n acting this way
✧。 " y/n !!! what's wrong , my dear ? i don't like seeing you so sad "
✧。 " oh . . . tooru . it's nothing , i'm okay "
✧。 " i don't believe you for a second "
✧。 " i'm fine , tooru - "
✧。 right on cue , these stupid girls are pushing past you to get up to tooru , wide and innocent smiles stretched upon their faces as they try to look their prettiest for the star seijoh setter
✧。 they're all ogling and fawning over oikawa , this was your chance to get by unscathed and unnoticed
✧。 " excuse me , you do know you just shoved y/n to the side , right ? "
✧。 you feel oikawa pull you close to him , his eyes glaring at the now embarrassed girls , coming up with silly excuses for their actions
✧。 he doesn't even bother listening , just turning his heel and walking away with you
✧。 you're just there like o_o
✧。 " tooru ? they're your fans ! "
✧。 " so ? if they don't treat you with respect i'd rather have no fans at all "
hajime iwaizumi.
✧。 iwa will always be your number one bodyguard and that is on PERIODT
✧。 you're the manager of the volleyball team but you aren't that close to iwaizumi , but you two have a steady enough relationship where he knows that he at least cares about your wellbeing
✧。 thankfully he's in the same hallway as some assholes push your books to the ground , antagonizing as you're trying to pick up your things , humiliated as can be
✧。 " what the fuck do you think you're doing , picking on y/n like that ? "
✧。 their faces lose all color , slowly turning around and coming face to face with a fuming hajime iwaizumi
✧。 hajime doesn't even need to lay a hand on these idiots to hurt them , just talking down at them makes their self esteem drop
✧。 " huh , hot shots ? what , you think you're all that for treating someone like shit ? huh ? is that what it is ? "
✧。 you're looking up at them dazed as they're just blubbering responses , acting like they've just gotten kicked in the gut
✧。 " scram . pull this shit again and you'll get more than just a lecture . "
✧。 you've hardly realized they're running away with their imaginary tails tucked in between your legs when you notice iwa bending down to help gather your things
✧。 " i'm sorry they did this to you , i'll walk you to class if you'd like "
✧。 " oh , iwaizumi ! you really don't have to , i can hardly thank you enough for making them go away "
✧。 " next time people try and pick on you again , don't hesitate in telling me , alright ? i got no problem setting the record straight for those little shits "
✧。 needless to say , your relationship with him SKY ROCKETED after today
tetsurou kuroo.
✧。 you’re not the best at sports — you know that , but other people like to rub it in
✧。 it's gym volleyball , and these boys are purposely picking on you because you can't receive to save your life
✧。 they're making sure only you touch the ball , laughing when they see you struggling with their serves
✧。 " you're so lame , y/n ! it's just a serve , and you can't even pass - "
✧。 THESE KIDS GET HIT SQUARE IN THE NOSES BY WHOOSH AFTER WHOOSH
✧。 wait woah those volleyballs came out of nowhere
✧。 oh shit it’s tetsurou
✧。 he’s Livid as he holds another volleyball in his hand , his jaw clenched as he prepares for another serve , aimed directly at those boys
✧。 he's mocking them as they're all holding their noses in pure agony
✧。 " oooooh , what's the matter , huh ? it's just a serve , and you can't even pass it ! ugh, you guys are so lame "
✧。 kuroo walks over to you , and those guys practically run off , tears staining their eyes as they struggle with the pain from getting served in that place on the nose
✧。 " how are your arms , y/n ? "
✧。 " kuroo ! they're a little sore but i can manage , thank you so much "
✧。 " just giving them the karma they deserved . i think that's the best serve i've ever done , actually . "
✧。 " i could never receive like that , it would blow my arms right off "
✧。 he laughs as you visibly shudder at the thought of it
✧。 " i mean , you could . if you practice hard enough . i could help with that "
✧。 his blush doesn’t go unnoticed
✧。 " only if you want to ! y'know , to show those boys who's boss when they try serving at you again "
✧。 " that would be awesome ! i'd love to learn now to do cool stuff like that "
✧。 " honestly though , you should also listen to some advice from our libero , yaku - hey , how would you like to be our club manager ? we've been looking for one , and this job will be the insight you need for learning about volleyball - "
✧。 woooooo boy you snatched that position real quick
koutarou bokuto.
✧。 you’re very close to bokuto ever since you became the volleyball club manager , and there are some girls at fukurodani who are not happy with that
✧。 how come they don't get kou all to themselves like how you can ? it's not fairrrrrrr
✧。 they're all surrounding you after class , wanting to get some facts straight about bokuto
✧。 and they're not doing it in a very nice way , either
✧。 " y/n ? i've been waiting for you since class ended ! i thought you said we - hey , what's going on here ? "
✧。 these girls do a whole ass 180 at the sound of his cheery voice , now circling around him and just about forgetting you existed
✧。 " bokuto ! your last match was amazing ! "
✧。 " the ace of fukurodani strikes again , doesn't he ? you're so amazing , senpai ! "
✧。 at the sight of you with your eyes glued to the ground , he pushes past the girls , ignoring them completely , and walks over to you , his face serious as he tilts your chin up to make you look at him
✧。 " y/n ? were they being mean to you ? "
✧。 you hardly respond , but it's all the answer he needs before looking at the girls with a nasty glare
✧。 woah woah woah where's koutarou and what have you done with him
✧。 you didn't even know bokuto had it in him to be this angry
✧。 but oh boy he looked absolutely pissed
✧。 " i don't think i like you girls very much . treat others the way you wanna be treated , y'know ? but obviously , you guys don't know how to do that . don't even think about stepping near me or y/n until you learn how to show a little bit of respect , yeah ? "
✧。 every jaw was dropped , including yours , as bokuto dragged you away from your bullies
✧。 the moment you two leave the school , he flashes a smile your way and proceeds to talk about how he was so close to making it back to being in japan's top three youth aces
✧。 ah , there's the bokuto we all know and love
✧。 but believe me , he's far from afraid from showing his scary side again
Edge of Great (Luke Patterson x Reader)
Tumblr media
A/n: Hey guys so this is my first imagine on tumblr. I know it’s pretty long but my fingers just kept typing.🙃 Definitely let me know if I should make shorter ones or longer ones or even a series! Also let me know if you guys have any requests or plots that I could write and for who! Finally finally let me know if you like it in a first reader POV or if i should try a third person POV! Oh and if I should post them in a book on wattpad or keep the content strictly on tumblr!!!😁 (Ps. I’ll most likely be adding a song to every chapter whether it goes with the chapter or not!) Check out my last post for more information on my writing.
Warnings: None
————
I sat in the studio along with my bandmates tuning my guitar. We were currently waiting on Julie to return from school so we could begin to practice for tonight. Her dad got us a gig playing for a couple of her friends to start a following. Which made a lot of sense when Julie explained it to me. Right after Luke sent me into a frenzie of confusion.
"Hey y/n/n you think you could help me with these lyrics for tonight?" Luke called from the couch. I stood up from my comfortable spot on the chair under the loft and flashed myself onto the spot right next to him.
"Sure Lukey" I said taking his writing journal in my own hands and sitting back to scan over the words.
Y/n- I believe, I believe that we're just one dream
I mumbled hearing Luke start to strum on his six string the melody of the song.
Away from who were mean to be that were standing on the edge of
Y/n, L- Something big something crazy our best days are yet unknown that this moment is ours to own
He joined in.
Y/n- Cause we're standing on the edge of great
L- (On the edge of great)
Y/n- Great
L- (On the edge of great)
Y/n- Great
L- (On the edge of great)
Y/n- Cause we're standing on the edge of
We sang to each other back and forth with smiles plastered on our faces.
Y/n, L- Shout shout. C'mon and let it out, out. C'mon and let it out, out. Don't gotta hide it. Let your colors blind their eyes. Be who you are no compromise. Just shout, shout. C'mon and let it out
We paused running out of lyrics. My mind racing searching for the next line.
Y/n- What doesn't kill you makes you feel alive
I sang softly as he leaned in closer with a smirk plastered on his face.
Y/n, L- Ooh-oh. I believe, I believe that we're just one dream. Away from who we're meant to be. That we're standing on the edge of great
We finished out of breath. My smile grew as Alex and Reggie began to clap.
"That was great"
"Yeah we’re gonna rock Julie's garage tonight" Reggie said making it sound less cool than it actually was.
"Definitely" Luke said standing up.
"Thanks for the help boss" He said sending me a smile.
"Anytime" I grinned before turning around to go take my previous seat to finish tuning my guitar.
"I'm gonna go find Julie and let her know we've got the song ready for tonight thanks to our amazing rhythm guitarist"
"Sounds like a plan" Alex said.
"Don't forget to mention how beautiful I am as well" I teased earning a smirk from Luke.
"I never do baby" He winked at me before disappearing. A small laugh escaped my lips before going back to my guitar.
"So" Alex said catching my attention.
"So?" I repeated looking up at the drummer boy.
"So you and Luke?"
"Me and Luke what?"
"You and Luke are like in love each other"
"We are not. Well I'm not. Can't say the same about pretty boy" I said teasingly.
"Yeah sure you're not. Reggie back me up here. Please tell your best friend that she's totally in love with Luke"
"You're totally in love Luke"
"I am not. Reggie your supposed to have my back"
"And I will. Once you admit you have a thing for Luke" He said smirking at me. I glared at the two boys in front of me who weren't as oblivious as I had thought they were.
"Okay so I have a thing for Luke. So what?"
"So you should tell him"
"Why on earth would I do that?"
"So he can admit he's in love with you too"
"And why would he do that when he's clearly not"
"Seriously? Didn't you see the way he was looking at you when you were singing? It looked like Reggie when he sees pizza"
"Pizza?" Reggie perked up excitedly. "There no pizza" Alex said a frown appearing on the bassist face.
"Just because looks at me a certain way does not mean he loves me"
"Really because last time I checked constantly touching each other means you like each other, constantly flirting means you like each other, and when was the last time you wore one of your own shirts" Alex said pointing at my outfit. I sunk back into my seat. He was right about everything down to one of the many shirts Luke had let me have.
"Come on y/n just admit it after we died something more changed with you two. We all see it. Even Reggie sees it and that's saying something"
"Yeah. So it's not like he's ever gonna say anything. So why should I put myself out there to possibly get rejected and heartbroken by my best friend? I mean how do we even know for sure if he's in love with me. Or even likes me for that matter?"
"We don't. Yet" Alex said smirking.
"Oh that's his thinking face. I haven't seen that since 94" Reggie said backing up slightly.
"I think we're in trouble"
It had been a couple hours after Julie had gotten out of school. Yet her or Luke were nowhere to be found. I groaned walking out of the bathroom in the back of the studio.
"Seriously Alex. This is your great idea"
"No my great idea is to have you and Reggie flirt like there's no tomorrow. This is just small details" He said fixing the fit of the flannel on my body. It was Reggie's lucky flannel that took a lot of convincing to get off his body.
"Okay but why'd I have to change my shirt" I said looking down at my own crop top that I hadn't worn in a very long time.
"Because it was Luke's. We need him to think that you don't need his clothes anymore"
"Why did I let you drag me into this?"
"Because deep down you want him to say something about it don't you?"
"Well yeah but-"
"Hey guys!" A familiar voice popped into the garage.
"Luke" I spoke pushing Alex away from me.
"Hey man what happened to practice?" Alex asked casually.
"Julie had some stuff to do after school so I went along. But she's on her way so we should get a few runs in-" His words slowly came to a halt sending me a strange look.
"Isn't that Reggies lucky flannel?"
"Uh yeah. He let me barrow it. For good luck. Here's your shirt back by the way. I don't think I'll need it anymore" I said trying to hand him back the shirt I was wearing previously.
"You know you don't have to give it back. It's yours" His lips simpered.
"I know but Reggie said if I needed to I could just barrow his"
"Oh" was all Luke before taking the shirt out of my hands.
Suddenly the garage door opened and in walked Julie.
"Hey guys" She smiled.
"Ready for tonight?"
"Definitely"
"Flynn's coming over before to help me get ready. Girl time?" Julie asked looking at me.
"I'll be there" I smiled.
"So are we ready to rehearse?"
"Where's Reggie?"
"He went out said he would be back in a bit"
As if on cue the other ghost popped in with a smile on his face.
"Luke" He said his eyes going wide.
"Your back"
"Yeah I am. Who are the flowers for?" Luke asked eyeing the bouquet of roses in his hand.
"They’re for y/n. You know she deserves the best" Reggie said nervously sticking his hand out for me.
"Thanks Reggie" I smiled lightly.
"She also deserves her favorite flowers. Sunflowers in case you were wondering"
"Luke" I scolded him taking the bouquet.
"I think it's a sweet gesture Reggie. Seriously thank you"
"Your welcome" He smiled pulling me into a light hug.
"I think we should rehearse before it gets any later" Alex suggested trying to ease the now very notable tension in the room.
"Sounds good" Julie said awkwardly stepping past Reggie and Luke who were standing a few feet apart. I looked at Alex who gave me a small nod.
"Uh Reggie can you come here for a sec I need your help" I said pulling him away to my guitar stand. I placed strap around my body waiting for the brunette to turn his attention to me.
"Uh sure. Cutie?" He spoke in a questionable tone before looking down at me.
"You need his help with guitar?" Luke asked clearly confused.
"Well yeah"
"But I always help you with guitar" "He offered earlier if I needed help to come to him"
"Yeah. I did that" Reggie said trying to act tough.
"Whatever" Luke scoffed.
I watched as he swung his guitar around his shoulder aggressively. I glanced at Julie who was sending me a confused look so I quickly shrugged my shoulder not knowing what else to do.
It was mere minutes before we were heading out to perform. The tension in the air was now overpowered by excitement.
"I'm so nervous" I said bouncing my leg up and down anxiously.
Suddenly I felt a hand land on it stopping my movements. I looked up to see Luke smiling down at me.
"Don't be nervous your gonna do amazing out there"
"Thanks" I smiled back.
"Yeah. Your always amazing. Did I mention you look beautiful tonight? Wearing my flannel. My lucky flannel" Reggie said with a pestering smile as he swung an arm around my shoulder.
"We get it. It's your flannel" Luke interrupted immediately removing his hand from my leg. I looked at Alex who was stifling a laugh.
"Uh thanks Reg. You look good too"
"Oh I know. And I'm gonna look better singing up there with you. It'll be like old times. You and me. And a microphone"
"You and me. And a microphone" Luke mimicked him. I almost laughed only to be startled by someone walking in.
"Hey guys are you ready?"
"Ready as we'll ever be" I spoke. Julie simply nodded her head walking out.
I stood up pacing around as I heard Julie begin the opening notes on the piano outside.
"Hey your gonna do great out there" Luke said stopping me from walking anymore.
"Thanks. You are too. You and Julie have great chemistry"
"Well yeah. But I think we have great chemistry too" He said taking my hands in his.
I finally looked into his eyes see him staring into mine in. A small smile forming on my face.
"Guys!" Alex called knocking us out of our trance. I panicked immediately flashing outside with Luke. Landing beside Reggie with my guitar at hand. Luke only a few feet away in his own place.
J- I believe
I believe that we're just one dream
Away from who we're meant to be
That we're standing on the edge of
Y/n- Something big, something crazy
Our best days are yet unknown
That this moment is ours to own
I joined in singing into Reggies microphone beaming with excitement. I scanned the crowd seeing smiles on people faces. This is all we ever wanted.
J- Cause we're standing on the edge of great
All- (On the edge of great)
J- Great
All- (On the edge of great)
J- Great
All- (On the edge of great)
J- 'Cause we're standing on the edge of great
L- We all make mistakes
But they're just stepping stones
To take us where we wanna go
It's never straight, no
Luke sang sending me a wink before continuing to sing with Julie.
L,J- Sometimes we gotta lean
Lean on someone else
To get a little help
I giggled as Reggie leaned on me. Back to back. Both of us playing our guitars to the same beat.
J- Until we find our way
I believe
I believe that we're just one dream
Away from who we're meant to be
That we're standing on the edge of
Y/n- Something big, something crazy
Our best days are yet unknown
That this moment is ours to own
J- Cause we're standing on the edge of great
All- (On the edge of great)
J- Great
All- (On the edge of great)
J- Great
All- (On the edge of great)
J- 'Cause we're standing on the edge of...
J- Shout, shout
C'mon and let it out, out
Don't gotta hide it
Let your colors blind their eyes
Be who you are no compromise
My heart rate picked up. The scene from earlier replaying in my head as Julie sang the next lines. Taking a chance I looked in Luke's direction to see him already looking at me with a grin on his face. I smirked walking over to the piano.
J- And Just shout, shout
C'mon and let it out, out
J, Y/n- What doesn't kill you makes you feel alive
Ooh-oh
J- I believe
Julie sang as Luke and I let off a similar guitar riff making me laugh.
I believe that we're just one dream
Away from who we're meant to be
That we're standing on the edge of great
Making my way over to Luke I let out a giggle as I pulled his beanie down slightly messing up his look. Before making my over back to Reggie. I looked back at the brunette to see him grinning from ear to ear.
All- Something big, something crazy
Our best days are yet unknown
That this moment is ours to own
Cause we're standing on the edge of great
(On the edge of great)
J- On the edge of great
All- (Great, on the edge of great) On the edge
All- (Great, on the edge of great)
J- 'Cause we're standing on the edge of...
L- Running from the past
Y/n- Tripping on the now
J- What is lost can be found
It's obvious
Luke, Julie, and I finished singing towards the audience.
Making eye contact with a few kids before flashing out myself back into the garage where Alex and Reggie were already waiting. Adrenaline coursing through our veins as another presence poofed into the room.
"That was amazing!" Luke shouted excitedly.
"I can't believe we just did that. Did you see how pumped they were?" I asked falling back onto the couch besides Reggie.
"Yeah. They loved us!" "Remind me to thank Julie for playing our CD later"
"Tonight it's her garage tomorrow it's- it's clubs, dances, and worldwide tours" Luke said eagerly. Taking the free spot to my left.
"God I wish we could feel like this all the time" I said leaning into Luke.
"Me too y/n/n" He said placing an arm around me. A sudden fake cough erupting from Alex's lips. I looked over to see him staring at me with a look.
"Oh uh- Reggie you were great out there" I complimented the boy sitting up.
"Thanks. You uh- you looked hot" He tried to sound cool but failed miserably.
"You think?"
"Oh yeah- I mean the sweat on your forehead and like the heat and-"
"What are you going on about?" Luke asked confusion plastering itself on his face.
"I think what he means is y/n is attractive. Right Reggie?" Alex asked.
"No, no don't answer for him. Reggie be straight with me do you like y/n or not?" Luke asked standing up.
"Why does it matter if I do or don't?" Reggie questioned standing up as well.
"Because you out of everyone know that I like her so why are you letting her wear your clothes, buying her flowers, and calling her hot. I thought I made it clear she was off limits" Luke said my mouth widening in shock.
"I'm off limits?" I asked looking at him.
"How many people did you make it clear to that I was off limits?" I asked not really wanting an answer I was expecting.
"A few"
"A few? Micheal Brookes?" I asked remembering a guy I began to talk to at the beginning of our senior year who randomly stopped talking to me one day. I watched as his head dipped in a short nod.
"Jacob Miller?" I continued watching his nod once again.
"Grant Dean?" Nod.
"Nick Harper?" Nod.
"Derek Johnson?" Nod.
"Seriously Luke? Your the reason I never had a boyfriend my senior year. To make it worse I died a virgin. You asshole" I shouted standing up. I was fuming at this point. He had no right. And he still did it. My head whipped towards the garage door heading it creak open.
"Hey guys" Julie and Flynn smiled walking it.
"You guys did great out there" Flynn said happily. Julie immediately noticing the tension in the room and the frown upon my lips.
"Are you okay y/n?"
"I don't know why don't you ask Luke?" I spoke before flashing out.
I landed in the only place I could think of. A single tear escaped my eye as I sat on the marquee of the Orpheum. Our dream. His dream. I stared out onto the lit up street of Sunset Boulevard. If he didn't want me seeing anyone he could've said something. For the longest time I wondered why guys were such assholes. It wasn't them. It was Luke. It was always Luke.
"I know your mad" I heard his voice speak from behind me.
"I think I'm beyond mad Luke. How could you?" I asked standing up and turning towards him.
"I came crying to you all those times wondering why guys didn't want me. And-and you made me think that it was all me when it was really you. Telling them to back off. Why? Why would you do this to me?"
"Because-" He was at a loss for words. Looking like a kicked puppy.
"I-I wanted you" He finally spoke up.
"You what?"
"I wanted you" He spoke more confidently.
"I wanted you to myself. I- I every time you came and told me you were talking to someone new it hurt because I know it should've been me who asked you out. Who got the courage to just tell you that I-" He went silent the anger in me evaporating in a matter of seconds.
"That you what?" I asked quietly.
"That I love you. I know I'm late but I can't hold it in anymore. After seeing you and Reggie today I got jealous just like I used to back in high school. I know this'll probably ruin our friendship but I don't want to lose you so I really need you to say something right now before I go insane not hearing your beautiful voice" He finished off finally looking at me. The look in his eyes was as hurt. And I wanted to be mad. But I couldn't be. Not when he just admitted what I had been wanting to hear for so long.
"Your 25 years late. But I think we have an eternity to make up for that" I said his eyebrows flying up in surprise.
"Really?"
"You really think I wanted to wear my own shirt today Patterson? Alex told me that if I kept wearing your clothes I'd only fall deeper in love you" I spoke a smile reaching both our face.
He quickly made his way towards me. Leaning forward until his lips attached themselves onto mine. I giggled as he lifted me in his arms holding me close. Our lips molding perfectly like they were made for each other.
"This isn't real" He whispered putting me down.
"Your mine. God your mine" He mumbled pressing open mouth kisses down my neck before connecting his lips back to mine.
"It's definitely real Lukey"
"I love it when you call me that" He mumbled into my lips.
"Don't get all soft on me now Patterson" I laughed pulling away.
"I'm sorry for what I did before I really am. For making you upset and I'm gonna spend an eternity making it up to you"
"It's okay Luke. It's in the past now. I just would've preferred if you would've not scared away every guy that tried to talk to me"
"I promise I'll never hurt you like that again" He said holding me close by the waist. As I began to suck on his neck to begin leaving a hickey.
"And I promise you won't be a virgin for much longer" He whispered reattaching our lips again.
In Which You Meet a Wizard Without Knowing
Tumblr media
gif: @bts_westv on twitter
↬ characters: taehyung x reader
↬ genres: fantasy, adventure, a 'lil fluff. Howl's Moving Castle!AU
↬ words: 1.5K+
↬ summary: While your sisters dreamt of success and affluence, you stuck to what you knew. It was better that way. Less risky. For any who inquired, your hats went out into the world for you.
What you didn't expect was to encounter a mystery of a man, and along with him, a misadventure for two.
Tumblr media
In all his years of drifting, the spirit has never met someone who sought him out. Some took a little coaxing, a little dangling of the fruit, and others took a slight push off the edge, but this.
This boy was ripe for the taking. He wasn’t innocent, no. He knew what he’d come for, and that pleased the spirit. He shrunk himself into the size of a kumquat and leapt into the boy’s hands.
Once the deed is done, he began, there is no undoing.
The boy told him he knew. He was very solemn about it. He had the face of someone who could have become a great man.
The spirit looked at him with an expression often mistaken for pity. Then he told the boy to swallow him, and the boy’s heart was no more.
Tumblr media
The rumors flying about the wizard V are quite sensational.
They give him flair; an air of dark, beguiling intrigue he does not wish for, yet welcomes all the same. They give him a character to play. And now, he’s landed the part of a dashing escapee, leading his pursuers down a network of sharp turns and secret alleys.
Ahead, the sun gleams like a penny scrubbed to shine. The sky is sweet and rosy. A guard courts a young lady…how trite. V would have left the two alone had he not noticed the lady, no lure of a smile or blush upon her cheeks.
You back away, your dress blending in with the wall. Your eyes search desperately for an escape, eventually finding his. Well. He sighs. It wasn’t as if he was planning to leave you be. That would be quite heartless.
"I'm late, aren't I?" V asks, announcing his presence. "Forgive me, I lost track of the time. To the theatre?"
You accept his proffered arm, hesitant. He can tell you're a bit wary, and rightly so.
“And where do you think you’re going?” The guard demands, blocking his exit. “The lady and I haven’t finished our talk.”
“With all due respect," V says, suppressing a scoff, "I think you are.”
In an instant, the guard stiffens. His eyes widen. “What--” He starts, but marches off before he can finish.
With that pest gone, V turns his attention back to you...who really can’t be more than twenty. You look dreary in your choice of attire -- gray shawl, gray dress, dull hat over a meek face. If it were not for your stunned look, he’d say you lacked spark. Yet his business lies not in assessing your appearance. He's running short on time. “Do you mind telling me where you’re headed?”
“Pardon?”
“I’ll be your escort for the evening," he explains.
“Oh,” you blurt out, letting go of his arm, “thank you, but an escort won’t be necessary.” With a hasty dip of your head, you leave, bumping into a woman in the process. When you move to apologize, you realize she has no face.
Just a dark head and a liquid, convulsing body.
"So where to?" The gentleman asks, and this time when he approaches, you don’t hesitate to take his arm.
"Cesari's," you murmur, lest the creature hear you. It’s where your sister works, and you've been worried enough as it is.
He guides you briskly down a cobbled path. "I'd advise you not to look back."
In the distance, you hear a collective groaning, the crack of wood splintering. Low at first, the groaning rises steadily in pitch, the crack of wood quickening like strikes of a whip drawing blood. Your heart drums fast. Suddenly, a dark creature swoops toward you, screaming shrilly. V turns you abruptly to the right.
Phantoms lurk around the corner, shrieking as they lunge, but the next alley leads to a wall. Your breath catches. From the cracks burst out more phantoms, and you grip the gentleman's sleeve, squeezing your eyes shut.
The next moment, you can't feel the ground. The howling and screeching fall away, growing softer and softer until you can hear them no more.
You venture a look.
"Careful," the gentleman warns, a second too late. "We're quite high up."
Quite high up? You'd have to be -- you don't know, geography has never been your strong suit -- a few hundred meters above the ground! You're flying. There’s nothing to hold onto except the gentleman's bejewelled hands, and while the view of Market Chipping is beautiful, you're going to fall.
"Are you mad?" You ask, trying not to panic.
He laughs. "I'm surprised you didn't notice. Now take a step."
Your first one is shaky. Without any surface to step on, it feels like you're sinking instead of floating.
"Imagine you're taking a stroll," the gentleman suggests. "Look, there’s the patisserie, the flora, and the...fauna. Strange, that shouldn’t be there.”
To your horror, his grip on you loosens just a bit, and you yelp, prompting his attention.
”Why don’t you think of a song?” He asks.
“A dirge, you mean. A funeral song.”
“I know what a dirge is,” he snaps. “You, on the other hand...”
Tumblr media
It didn’t work.
V thought he could distract you with a squabble, but your palms are still as clammy as ever.
So to pacify your stubborn fear (so tangible he can feel it), he coaxes you into giving him a tour of Market Chipping. At first, you insist it's been quite some time since you've set foot outside and you're likely missing a place or few. How long is quite some time, he asks, mostly in jest, and is surprised when you tell him. He doesn’t show it. Instead, he assures you it’s of little import, because really, he's just settled in, so do you know any merchants who sell paintings? He's been itching for something to spruce up his residence -- the walls are bleak and empty.
By the time you reach Cesari’s, the stars are just beginning to shimmer. Night falls rapidly over the horizon, and you're surprised at the sudden desire you feel to prolong the conversation.
"Would you like to come in for biscuits and tea? Surely Joy can get us a discount--" You catch yourself, noting the lustrous gold winding his velvet cape, the violet glint of sapphires dangling from his ears. "Not that you'll need it."
"No," he says, releasing your hand gently. "But I appreciate the offer. I must get going."
"Good night, then," you say. "And thank you for escorting me. I enjoyed your company."
He smiles a soft smile, his most disarming one yet. "The pleasure is all mine." With a slight bow, he vanishes from sight.
The sweet scent of cinnamon and sugar beckons you into Cesari's, yet you feel no urge to enter. Lingering by the balcony, you watch the festivities below, the lights and colorful dresses appearing small and whimsical, a bit like you’re peering through a snow globe. For the first time in a while, you feel a childlike wonder. You hadn't realized you missed it.
Too late you realize you should have asked for the gentleman's name.
"Who was that?" A bright voice, clear out of nowhere, asks. "I didn't get a good look."
"Joy!" You exclaim, recognizing the fair features of your sister. Although she seems a bit thinner. It worries you, but you bite your tongue. Joy, after all, doesn't take to chiding. "What are you doing here?"
"Getting some fresh air." She stretches leisurely, a mischievous grin on her lips. "So imagine my surprise when I hear my sister offering a discount without consulting me first."
"You heard that?"
"The pleasure is all mine," she mimics, putting on an exaggerated, deep tone.
"Well, I suppose it serves me right."
"Please!" Joy laughs. "You shouldn’t be so proper. What are biscuits and tea compared to your happiness?"
"Not as--"
"No," she interrupts. "Don't answer that. I'm doing well here despite the amount of pesky suitors. They're nothing I can't handle, so j...just let me help you thrive, too. So long as it isn't V you're handing your heart to."
You miss the awkward falter in Joy's words, touched and baffled as you are by her sentiment. "Doesn't he only eat the hearts of beauties? I'd be more concerned if I were you."
"Or," she muses, "he feeds on beautiful, innocent hearts, and we've been fools all along."
When she looks at you, chills creep up your spine. "Are you trying to frighten me?"
"Well, do you have a beautiful heart?" She retorts.
"I don’t know."
"Exactly," she says. "And no one can fathom why V chose to stay here of all places. That's why we--"
"Joy!" Someone shouts from inside.
"I'm on break!" She shouts back, but the woman calls out to her again. Joy pulls an annoyed face, and for a second, you think you see a bit of Irene in her expression. Then she breathes and returns to her pleasant self. "Come in." She twists the doorknob open. "I'll finish telling you later."
As you follow her, a creature slithers under the balcony, quiet for now.
It's dark and pulsing.
Roommates Code: How it Began (Seyoon’s Story)
Tumblr media
Title: Roommates Code: How it Began
Pairing: Liju x Seyoon & Donghun (But can be reader x Seyoon & Donghun)
Genre: Humor, slight spice
Word count: 2187
Writer: Kpopmadness (Ju)
"Would you stop playing that video?" I groan, ready to throw my textbook at my schoolmate who sat on my head watching a music video for the hundredth time.
"I have to watch it closely. It's for science." She answers me, her eyes staying glued to the screen in front of her.
"You could help me with our homework project due in a few days. For science." I mimic her wording, making her narrow her eyes at me before shutting her laptop down to get her books.
This is how our relationship was. And how it probably always would be. My relationship with my classmate was fairly new. Both of us meeting one day at a study group in the library at our school. We continued to see each other for the next four weeks. The group we were with ignoring us most times, leaving us with just each other to talk to. Now we had moved our study sessions to my house. Us studying for school together becoming a weekly habit on top of sitting next to each other during lunch break at school as a excuse to hang out.
The room is silent for five minutes before she pipes up again; "You know, with the amount of times we talk to each other and see each other, we could move in together as roommates once we graduate." She tells me.
I look up from my book to meet her eyes, surprised to see she was actually being serious. I lean back in my chair as i say, "We would probably kill each other."
She shrugs, her long hair falling over her shoulder as she does so. "We might." She says, "Or we might not. We've been hanging out with each other for five months now and haven't manged to argue yet. And we don't seem to stress each other. And i don't see you or i getting boyfriends means how we like being alone so much."
I laugh,  the idea amusing and sounding fun. But it seemed a little outlandish means how we still had another nine months of high school left.
"We'll see where we are when we finish school. We might hate each other by then." I say before turning back to my book.
``````
The problem with us, however, is when we kid about something, it often times happens somehow. Two months after graduating high school we found good paying jobs and a available apartment.
"I'll let you two look around a bit more." The landlord of our new apartment said as she walked down the stairs, "Congratulations on getting the place."
We both thanked her with smiles on our faces before shutting the door and letting out an excited scream. Our place small but roomy enough for us, making it feel like a palace compared to our small bedrooms at home. And the biggest difference was this was our place.
"Which room do you want?" She asks me as we make our way down the hall.
"You can have the bigger room. You have more things than i do." I tell her, stepping into what would be her bedroom.
"You've never had a big bedroom before though." She says, sounding guilty.
I laugh, "Please, my room has a bathroom. That's a luxury by itself."
We both laugh as we continue walking around our rooms. At one point I stand in my room trying to think of how to arrange things when i hear her call,
"If we shut our bedroom doors can we still hear each other?" She asks, poking her head into my room.
Our bedrooms were stationed right next to each other, the thought of being able to talk even from our rooms making me giggle.
"Lets see." I say through a laugh. Shutting my bedroom door, hearing her do the same a moment later.
She taps on the wall next to my room, the sound echoing through my empty room. "We could learn mores code!"   I hear her say as she starts randomly taping the wall with her hand.
I laugh and lean my back against the wall, "If our walls are this thin that means our neighbors can hear us. Which means they're going to wonder why your using mores code to summon Satan."
I hear her laugh as she walks out of her room and into mine, "But if we ever get boyfriends it might be an issue. We'll hear more of each other than is wanted."
``````
Four years later:
I sit at the kitchen table one afternoon scrolling through my Ipad when the front door unlocks and my roommate steps inside. I open my mouth to greet her but quickly shut it when i see the man standing behind her.
"Thank you again for walking me home, Seyoon." She says, smiling at him as she leans her body weight against the door.
"It was no problem." He says sweetly, smiling back at her.
I bite my lip and slowly move off my chair to try to sneak away to my bedroom to give them some privacy. I had just stood up when she turns her head and looks at me,
"Where are you going?" She asks, a hint of annoyance in her voice.
I straighten and force a smile on my face, silently cursing her for drawing attention to me.
"Nowhere." I answer  in a sweet voice, my eyes narrowing at her.
"Hey Seyoon." I wave at him.
Seyoon waves back at me, "Hey, good to see you."  His smile widens as he looks back at my roommate before saying, "I should get going. But it was really good to see you all. Thank you for letting me walk you home." He says. I don't miss the way his hand slightly reaches for hers that rests on the doorknob or how he lingers at the door though. All of this making me smirk.
She thanks him again before shutting the door completely and whirling around to throw her bag at me. I let out a cry when it hits me on the shin.
"What the heck do you keep in there? Bricks?" I grumble as i rub my leg.
"I keep them in there for when i need to beat you to death." She fires  back. "I told you to stay in the same room as me if we ever see him. Then you try to wonder off!"
"He looked like he wanted to be alone with you!" I shout, a smirk on my lips.
She narrows her eyes at me before running up and kicking my feet out from under me, making me land on my back, air leaving my lungs.
She kicks me in the butt, making me scream.
"He walked you home! That's a clear sign he wants a relationship with you!"  I scream at her. Her face going red.
"I don't care, because i don't want a relationship with him." She mumbles quietly.
I stand up from the ground and brush myself off, "Are you sure about that?" I ask, making her hesitate but still narrow her eyes at me.
This had been an ongoing conversation between us for the past month. Kim Seyoon was her workmate, he also only lived a block away from our apartment. For the past month, he had been making it very clear he liked her. Making lunch for her, sending her texts to check on her when she didn't show up at work. He even brought over some soup once for me when i was sick and she had stayed home to make sure  i didn't die. Clearly trying to get on my good side as well.
Needless to say, i liked him for her. But her being the stubborn person she is, refused to admit she liked him or wanted a date with him. So for the past month we had talked, argued, and screamed at each other about the matter. Even though she denied it, i could see her walls cracking slightly. She was growing more of a weak spot for him than she wanted to admit.
"I'm going to go. I ordered a Pizza for dinner for us." I tell her as i pick up my car keys.
A smile grows on my roommates face at the mention of her favorite food. "This doesn't change anything. I still don't like you."
I laugh and roll my eyes, "I know." I sigh out as i walk out the door.
```````
"This one?"
"No." I answer after observing the dress briefly that she had pulled from her closet.
"I don't know what to wear!" She groans in frustration. Raking her fingers through her hair.
After three months of bucking liking Seyoon, she finally caved in to him. Tonight being their first official date that he was going to pick her up for in an hour.
"I still say this dress," I tell her, holding up a red low cut dress with a thick black belt around l the waist.
"But i don't want to wear it." She whines, stomping her foot slightly.
I sigh and put the dress down on her bed. "You look good in it and you know he would like it. You just are too scared to wear it."
My roommate glares at me, mumbling words under her breath as she goes to put the dress i picked out on.
For the remaining hour we walk around our apartment finding things she needed to complete her look. Which included her borrowing one of my necklaces, me doing her hair while she worked on her makeup, and us arguing back and forth like always.
The doorbell rain as she was putting her shoes on, the noise making her jump and look at me panicked. I smirk at her as i wonder down the hall to my door so he couldn't see me when she opened the door. She gave me a passing glare as she went to open the door, Seyoon greeting her warmly in a white button down shirt and black slacks. His blonde hair falling over his eyes in fluffy locks. His eyes widening slightly and his voice going nervous when he saw her.
I smile to myself as i watch the pair walk out the door. I retreat into my bedroom for a night to myself while she was gone.
```````
I stumble into the kitchen sleepily the next morning. My eyes refusing to stay open. I go to the fridge and pour some cold coffee into a cup when my roommate comes out of her room, her eyes sparkling.
"Good morning." She say brightly, going to the fridge to pour herself a glass of milk. Her long hair doing little to hide several of the dark patches that cover her neck and collarbone
I stand by the counter with a glare on my face as she does so. My gaze on her making her meet my eyes.
“Why are you looking at me like that? And why do you look so tired?"
"Maybe it's because certain people wouldn't stop moaning and panting last night." I snap. Making her almost spit her mouthful of milk all over the floor.
"You heard us?" She coughs.
"Our walls are paper thin!" I say, "Your bed is close to the wall so i could hear everything. Until 3AM i heard many many things."
"No.. you... you didn't,  did you?" She asks, her voice cracking and her eyes wide from shock.
"That's a good boy." I mimic, using one of her choice words that night.
She gasps loudly, her face and neck going red. "I thought you would be asleep!"
"I was. But all the noise definitely woke me up." I tell her, finishing off my coffee to put the cup in the sink.
"We need a code of some sort if he's going to be coming over here a lot for your make outs." I tell her.
She gives me a nervous look, her face still red. "What kind of code?" She asks.
"Something. An agreement that we will leave when the other one wants to spend time alone with their boyfriend or something."
"You don't have a boyfriend." She jabs, a smirk tugging at her lips.
"Shut up." I snap, making her laugh.
For the next hour we sit on the couch going back and forth on the rules of this code. The code being simple enough, but holding a measure of  trust that the other one would respect the others privacy when asked. We had just finished setting special text tones for each other as part of the Roommates Code when Seyoon walked out into the living room. His blonde hair sticking up in funny places and several dark marks littering his neck.
“Do you guys always laugh so loud?" Seyoon teases, a smile tugging at his lips as he rubs his eyes.
"I know someone else who's loud."   I mumble under my breath, making my roommate stand up quickly and chase me to my room, screaming at me the entire time. Leaving a chuckling Seyoon to stand in the living room alone.
He Isn’t You
Steve Harrington x Reader
Summary: An unexpected reunion with an ex-lover kindles bitter memories. Regrets and what-ifs are exchanged, but only this time, the feelings remain one-sided.
A/N: This is a continuation of this request! I recommend you read it before this installment for more understanding. Either way, thank you for reading! ;)
Tumblr media
It had been a year since Steve had last seen you. He kept track, knowing the exact number of weeks and days that he had lost you. He lost you. His heart stops everytime he glances at the locket by his dresser: a gold heart embellished with complex yet beautiful designs, accompanied with a small picture of you and him that fit perfectly within the necklace.
The window is covered with ice, yet he can still see the delicate snowflakes falling to the ground. Steve forces himself to stand from his bed - the bed where you left him, the bed where he broke you, the bed where he fucked everything up. With a shaky sigh, he adjusts the collar of his sweater, putting on a tight smile in the mirror before he walks out of his room.
Christmas.
Steve hates it. Only because he knows that it’s your favorite holiday, with the stupid evergreen trees and once-a-year decorations. He shuts off the radio in his car, grumbling at the first few notes of the familiar song.
The driveway is packed with cars when he arrives. He tucks the gift under his arm as he approaches the front door, raising a finger to the doorbell. From outside, he can hear the joyous cheers and singing of people. The wide, paneled door opens slowly, and he’s ushered in by an excited Mrs. Wheeler. He respectfully kisses her on the cheek, laughing when she remarks how handsome he looks tonight.
He finds Nancy immediately through the crowd of people, socializing with a few relatives. She turns around to smile and wave at him, before she begins excusing herself from the conversation to greet him.
“Hey, I’m so glad you could come.” She presses a chaste kiss to his lips, and he winces at the familiar taste of strawberry-flavored lipgloss.
No.
Too much like you.
He recovers instantly, chuckling weakly when Nancy pulls him into a loving embrace. "Well, you know I'd never miss a good party, especially if you're there."
The words leave a sour aftertaste in his mouth. He wishes he hadn't said them in the first place.
She smiles widely at the comment, tugging on his arm to introduce him to a couple of her guests. He swiftly sets his gift down by the Christmas tree, before following Nancy into the backyard with slumped shoulders. He nods at familiar faces, acknowledging them with a weak handshake or a short embrace.
"Steve, this is Dean." She gestures to the taller boy, with slicked-back hair, who reaches out to shake Steve's hand with a kind voice.
"Nice to meet you, Steve." He glances around the yard for a moment, turning around to grab the hand of the girl behind him. "And this is my gorgeous girlfriend, Y/N."
It couldn't be.
You tuck yourself under Dean's arm, brightly smiling up at him before your eyes fall on Steve, who stood before you. He watches your eyes widen in shock, red lips parting as a shaky breath escapes from your chest.
"Hi." He blinks at you, hands fidgeting at his sides with uncertainty.
"Hello, Steve."
Nancy reaches for his hand, intertwining her slender fingers with his. "You guys know each other?" She raises her eyebrows at you with question.
Steve never told her. And so, Nancy never knew that you and Steve had ever been together.
"Not really," You reply. "I knew Steve from a class we had in school, but other than that, we've never talked."
Hurt, he glances down at his shoes, sucking in a deep breath as if you had punched him in the gut.
Dean touches your shoulder, leaning down to kiss your cheek before he excuses himself inside the house. It isn't long before Mrs. Wheeler calls Nancy inside to help her with the food, leaving only you and Steve, as well as a few unknown guests outside.
"You look different."
You meet his gaze with narrowed eyes. Your breaths are even, and it seems as if Steve's presence has left you completely unaffected.
He can't help but notice your bold, red lipstick - cherry lipgloss nowhere to be seen. Your black dress rests above the knee, and Steve tries to remember when was the last time he had seen you in clothing as short as that. You don't break eye contact, occasionally shifting your head to the side to move wisps of hair from your face.
"Thank you."
You don't seem to blush at his compliment.
He would have had you blushing by now.
"So," Steve leans lightly against the pole of the canopy, crossing his arms against his itchy sweater. "Uh, what are you doing here?"
You chuckle quietly at the question. Steve feels a pang in his chest at the angelic sound, causing a smile to form on his face. "Well, Dean happened to be a family friend of the Wheelers. He invited me to this Christmas party since we'd only be in town for a few more weeks and so, here I am."
"Oh, you don't live in Hawkins anymore?" You shake your head, sipping on the glass of apple cider in your hand.
"I actually got a full-ride scholarship to Michigan University.”
"Wow! That's... that's great, Y/N. I'm so happy for you." He chuckles. "But uh, Dean... how long have you two been...?”
Together.
He wants to say it, but he can’t bring himself to.
Your body relaxes at mention of his name, breaking Steve when he sees the admiration on your face when you look into the house.
“Almost a year. We met during orientation and ended up having the same major, which is pretty nice.”
Steve lets the smile on his face falter, before disappearing completely. Pushing himself off the pole, he buries his hands in his pockets, subtly approaching you with slow steps.
"Are you happy?"
The mood shifts immediately.
Time comes to a halt, as cliche as it sounds, and Steve can only place his attention on you.
"I'm the happiest woman alive." You admit, placing the empty wine glass on the table beside Steve. He abruptly reaches for your hand, enveloping it with his cold one. Your eyesight follows the motion, and you hurriedly try to pull away from him with a huff. "Steve..."
"Y/N, you don't know how much I miss you." He lowers his voice to a hushed whisper.
"Steve, I'm with someone." You don't hesitate to look him in the eye, furrowing your brows with frustration. "Please, leave me be."
"I know what love is. You told me - told me that I don't know what love is. But I do, Y/N." You manage to escape from his grip, keeping your distance from him with nervous eyes. "I love you."
"But I love Dean."
He has to look over his shoulder to stop himself from crying out, fingers pinching at the bridge of his nose. Steve whimpers softly, body trembling as he attempts to hold back his tears.
"God, I love you, Y/N. Give me a chance." He pleads with a quivering lip.
You shake your head dismissively. "I'm sorry. But I don't love you anymore, Steve.”
You gasp when Steve wraps his arms around you, burying his head into your neck. Your perfume overwhelms him, sending him into a struggling battle with his brain and heart.
"You're my everything. Please. Please."
With gentle hands, you pry Steve away from your body, and he aches for your touch. It’s not lustful, nor does it carry any sexual meaning - he simply needs to feel you.
Your eyes are sympathetic. And it makes Steve wish that you were angry instead, because he experiences even more pain with your peacefulness.
Were you at peace because he wasn't a part of your life anymore?
"Steve, it's been a year.” He sighs with audible relief when your hand cups his cheek. It's forgiving, yet it fucking kills him. "I'm not the same girl that I was when we were together."
"I don't care. Same or not, different or new, you're still Y/N. I'll - I'll stick around forever.” He leans further into your touch, ignoring your reluctance. “Let me stay with you.”
"You're with Nancy. You love her. This is what you wanted." Your hand suddenly falls from his face, resting against your thigh. “And this is what you get. You need to live with your own decisions.”
“What is it about Dean that makes you want to stay? He... I know you don’t want to break his heart, but I can do better than him. I would do so much better for you.” He pauses, swallowing the lump in his throat. “Why does he make you happy, Y/N?”
“Because he isn’t you.”
A sob racks through his body, and Steve has to grip onto the pole to stay upright.
Your words stab at his ribs, tearing at his flesh as he screws his eyes shut.
He exhales deeply. “I wish I knew what I had because I lost you.”
“You made me happier the minute that you let go.” You hesitantly reach for his hand, regretting it the minute that he tightens his hold on it. “You can love me all you want, Steve, but I want you to know that I have moved on. And I’m not coming back to you, ever.”
“I know.” He nods with understanding, averting his eyes from you.
“Okay.”
“Could I get one last hug?”
He stares at you. His eyes are rimmed with red, tears staining his flushed cheeks. Regret was written all over his features, and you didn’t fail to recognize the heartbreak within him.
“I can’t give you that. I’m sorry.”
The patio door slides open, voices filling the emptied yard as Nancy and Dean stride over to you both. Steve harshly wipes at his face with the back of his sleeves, regaining his composure as his girlfriend comes to stand by his side. You block out their conversation when Dean reaches down to kiss your forehead, before feeding you a small piece of cheesecake with a bubbly grin. You exchange laughter when he misses your mouth, dabbing at the corners of your painted lips with a napkin.
“Do you wanna go inside? It’s real cold out here, love.” He suggests, and you nod at the suggestion. You thank him for the sweet gesture, smiling when his hand comes to rest on the small of your back.
Before you step into the house, you gaze behind you, meeting the intense stare of the chestnut-haired boy with a lingering smile of your own. His eyelashes glisten with drying tears, and he tunes out the sweet nothings of Nancy.
You give him a curt nod, entangling your fingers with Dean.
“Merry Christmas, Steve.”
Conversation
epiclafiteau: If Edward and Henry never left Tidmouth Sheds, BUT two engines HAD to leave, who would they be and why? Let me hear what you think! Who would be in their spots? Someone that's been there before, or someone that hasn't? My take btw: Edward and James. Edward at Wellsworth Sheds makes so much sense, and James should've been kicked out as the punishment. Yeah, Thomas/Percy at Ffarquhar would be neat but Toby's at Arlesdale End now. Henry doesn't need to stay at Vicarstown and Emily is just there.
JD41796: Honestly do what the series did and move Edward to Wellsworth because that actually makes sense, and throw Thomas and Percy back with Toby. Have the engines stay closest to their place of work, and have the sheds be what it used to be; whoever is working in that area, stays there.
epiclafiteau: Edward moving to Wellsworth to be closer to his branchline was a smart move, and it made sense. The issue is they're like "Henry's going to Vicarstown ok bye". I'm sure we were supposed to get an episode further explaining it but they haven't done so yet and the only thing to back it up is the fact that Henry is on the Mainland in 70% of the specials lol.
StreakSmeargle: I’d actually kick out three. Thomas, Percy, and Edward. Thomas and Percy can move to Ffarquhar (and honestly Nia can live there too). And Edward can move to Wellsworth like he already does. Fill up the missing Tidmouth slots with Rebecca and maybe the Scots?
epiclafiteau: Unless I'm missing something, I'm not actually sure where exactly Duck, Oliver, Donald and Douglas stay in the CGI Series. We see Ryan, Daisy, Judy & Jerome at Harwick but are there sheds somewhere else on the Little Western? It made sense for Duck to stay at Tidmouth in Duck and the Slip Coaches cause he was needed nearby, something they should do more often, but I don't think we've actually seen where he normally stays.
StreakSmeargle: There should be sheds at Arlesburgh if the RWS is any indication. Duck, Oliver, and Toad would realistically stay there. Donald and Douglas could also stay there but it might make sense to have them at Tidmouth as they’re not strictly tied to Little Western only. Gordon, James, Henry, Rebecca, and Emily can definitely stay at Tidmouth tho. Henry at Vicarstown was a neat concept but it went nowhere so I say move him back.
epiclafiteau: I can get past Edward moving because of etc reasons but the big 3 should definitely stick together. Edward leaving felt sort of natural because it had a whole episode to it and he suggested staying at Wellsworth permanently. Henry liked the idea, followed by deciding to transfer to Vicarstown, and nothing happened.
StreakSmeargle: If they ever do move Henry back to Tidmouth, they could do an episode where he starts reconsidering his decision on moving to Vicarstown but worries about what the others will think. That would allow him to move back and even potentially shedding light on why he moved in the first place.
Jacob34335638: Well, I think James could be kicked out as punishment for destroying the sheds in the first place, and Emily could possibly leave too since she works on the Misty Valley Branchline, and it would be convent for her to be closer to her work like Edward is at Wellsworth Sheds.
epiclafiteau: Yeah, literally. I never understood why they were like "Well James, you destroyed the sheds... Okay, Edward, go find somewhere else to stay".
Echo62445283: Because apparently they were like "Hey thats Edward's part of the shed guess he has to go, not like he can sleep in your spot James".
ComradeSpinel90: Tbh... Percy and Thomas. They have sheds at Tidmouth and Ffharquhar. And in Nia and Rebecca and it would be fine. Or better yet. Drop Nia and add in oh idk... Stanley, or someone underrated imo.
epiclafiteau: Now you're on the right track.
ComradeSpinel90: And it wouldn't be out there norm. There was many time where they were at Tidmouth and Ffharquhar.
ilovetrains3232: The obvious Thomas and Percy go back to Ffarqhuar, Edward going to Wellsworth like in the show because, and as much as some people hate to hear, it was a great idea. They just haven't executed it to it's fullest ability. James could be an interesting choice as a punishment for crashing into it in the first place. I feel like Gordon is the only one who should stay there no matter what. Emily was the reason the 7th she'd was added but that doesn't necessarily mean she HAS to stay there and Henry, should have probably stayed but could easily go somewhere else and it would work. Tidmouth AND Vicarstown both honestly don't make much since for Henry. Yes, Henry does go to the mainland sometimes but not as much as he works elsewhere. If anything, Henry should have moved to Wellsworth with Edward. Since he has to go to Brendam anyways to pick up the Flying Kipper, and Wellsworth is in the center of the island so it would make it easier for him to work anywhere. As opposed to be on either side.
legomastr_365: I love all of them too much to kick anyone out, but seeing the replies makes sense since that's literally what I do in my series.
epiclafiteau: Thomas and Percy is the most logical answer but I'm curious to know if anyone would consider Emily or James, or have other reasons for Thomas/Percy.
GraydonBruckle1: Definitely Emily, as for the other I'm not sure.. I guess Edward or Percy. Edward does make sense BUT he is one of the three original character the Rev W. Awdry wrote about.. Percy could go to Ffarquhar. That way he wont have to go far for the mail run or something like that.
ElliotKW: It would be Thomas and Percy and I'd move them back to Ffarquhar Sheds (even though the sheds are in the yards at Tidmouth Station). Series 2 kept the roots of Thomas, Percy and Toby living in the sheds for five episodes and I would love to see that happen again in the future.
SunilFan48: Thomas and Percy. Go to Ffarquhar sheds with Toby like they did for S2 and then never again. Leaves room for Nia and Rebecca and no Tidmouth Shed reconstruction.
ThomasTheorist: The only engines who really need to be at Tidmouth Sheds are Gordon, Henry and James. Everyone else can be shuffled around.
TheLargeBarge: At Tidmouth Sheds you'll have Henry, Gordon, James, Emily, Rebecca, Donald and Douglas. At Ffarquhar, Thomas, Percy, Toby and Mavis. Knapford Sheds; Nia, Paxton and Rosie. Wellsworth; Edward and Philip. Arlesburgh; Duck and Oliver and Harwick; Ryan and Daisy.
CTFEologist: Thomas and Percy; move them to Ffarquhar with Toby instead.
DanielAlsop2: Well I’d still go with Edward, but also Thomas and Percy to Ffarquhar or Tidmouth Station, since they both work on Thomas’ branch line and if they had the usual adventure encounters, they could meet the others at Knapford or Elsbridge, simple.
GTSHProductions: I’d actually kick Thomas and Percy to live at Farquhar. But to be honest, I liked it better when the engines just slept wherever whenever they wanted.
TFan512: This may be controversial, but I’d still let it be Edward and Henry. Wellsworth is on Edward’s branch line, and he could be a mentor to Philip like he was to Thomas in The Adventure Begins (too bad no episodes have so far done that). As for Henry, he goes up to Vicarstown a lot anyway when he travels to the Mainland, and with him taking The Flying Kipper at night, he hardly has any time to rest at Tidmouth. I don’t agree with James being moved out as punishment, as he showed remorse in An Engine of Many Colours and was forgiven.
NWTom25: I choose three, Edward, Henry and Emily. It make sense to remove Edward to his branch line shed, Henry at Vicarstown since he could run goods trains from there to the mainland and Emily could stay at Knapford sheds like she did in CAE! I honestly don't see the need to remove Thomas and Percy since it had been stated in a Mr. Perkins interval that Knapford was the starting point for Thomas' branch line. So it make sense in the current series to have Thomas and Percy at the sheds. Plus Toby could fill in the spot at the sheds that the engines I chose left and maybe fill in the space for any of the secondary characters (e.g - Duck, Donald, Douglas, Rosie etc.).
TidmouthStudios: Y know if Knapford sheds came back I would LITERALLY LOVE THAT SO MUCH. I think Emily earned her spot in the sheds though and calling all engines definitely made a good move by specifically confirming that Emily was an official part of the core cast.
crikey_fell: Kick out everyone but Henry, Gordon, James and Emily, move them to their RWS positions.
Fan12Thomas: Thomas and Percy they should be on Ffarquhar Sheds.
kirkronan25: I'd chuck Edward to Wellsworth and I kinda like the idea of James having a shed all of his own, but I'm not sure about that.
Diesel20212: Thomas and Percy. I just can’t see them staying in Tidmouth when they already have their own sheds on their branchline.
TruckFan1996: Emily and Henry. I hate Emily and Mattel has made Henry wimpy.
WyattLoughrie: Well Thomas and Percy would have to live at Ffarquhar sheds with Toby and probably have Donald and Douglas take their places in Tidmouth Sheds.
SciFiCosplay99: Maybe have Thomas and Percy move back to Ffarquhar, perhaps add Toby and/or Nia. The Scots then move in. Also, show a shed where the Great Western Engines and the Scots live at some point, please show?
YBoi95: Honestly probably still Henry and Edward. Edward is too smart to be involved in the hive mind mentality of the Steam Team and Henry is just kind of there and doing very little. Honestly the two just don't really contribute enough to be worthy of being main characters.
gwr_fan: Part of me wants Thomas and Percy at Ffarquhar with Toby, Mavis, etc
Mechai94829484: For me it’s Thomas and Percy instead of sleeping in Tidmouth sheds they sleep in the sheds at the ffarquhar station with Toby and Henrietta just like in the railway books.
CementLord: Thomas and Percy, send them off to Ffarquhar.
TidmouthStudios: I’m not mad that Edward left due to the fact that he simply wasn’t offering anything consistently new to the franchise for some time at that point. He’s been outshined by the other core cast members since S5 and him being removed from said cast was inevitable. I’m happy they just did it in a nice and pleasant way and didn’t just suddenly have him leave. He at least got an episode showcasing his goodbye. Going off where he was going to be stationed makes more sense and serves as a sorta mentor for Philip like bill and Ben before him.
FantasticMrS3: I'd go with Emily and James. Then they could be given their own branch line to share, and it would open up more storytelling possibilities for them, especially Emily; God knows more could be done with her as a character.
TomtheSTL: Thomas and Percy, they don’t belong on the mainline or you know, besides the big 3 and Emily, not having a strict cast at Tidmouth, have it change a bit, hell the Brenner era did it on occasion.
HTGE3Prod: Hmm, Edward and Thomas. Both have their respective branchlines to run. At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if Salty, Bill and Ben are running Edward's line, and Mavis and Toby for Thomas' line.
Edwardandjamesp: Thomas, Percy and Edward. Thomas and Percy can go and sleep at Ffarquhar because that's where they work, and Edward could sleep at Wellsworth with Philip. And the ones to replace them would be Rebecca/Bear and the Scottish boys.
8Puffer: It would make more sense to put Thomas, Percy and Toby at Ffarquhar as it would help develop the three characters more and help build the relationship further.
ChaosDustSteam: I would actually pick three. Thomas, Percy, and Emily. Thomas and Percy would go to the Branchline Sheds, revealed in a new render for CGI. Emily would be moved either to Knapford Sheds or her own sheds, as I feel she is not a Main Line worthy engine.
BJG922: Hmm I would take out Thomas and Percy from Tidmouth and take them to Ffarquhar Sheds like how Edward went to Wellsworth, and keep Henry, Gordon, James and Emily at Tidmouth and allow Bear, Pip and Emma in Tidmouth.
ahmirallthings1: The answers obviously be Thomas and Percy. They lived in Ffarqhuar.
LNERA0X: If we wanted to apply this to all the engines really only Henry, Gordon, James, and Emily should be stationed at the main sheds. Decentralize the cast a bit.
JohnDarkblaze: Thomas, Percy, and Toby. My head canon is that they belong at Ffarquhar like they were before (also considering Arlesdale End hasn't been relevant for a while). As for Tidmoth Sheds itself, I'd leave Edward, James, Henry, and Gordon while adding Rosie, Stanley, and Molly.
TheThomasFan: Thomas and Percy, they’re supposed to be at Ffarquhar.
benbearce96: Toby and Emily because for Toby I just think he’s overrated as a character and Emily, well she can live at the shunting yards with Spencer Murdoch Arthur etc.
IvoryGreen456: Thomas and Percy. Because they were originally based at Ffarquhar they can easily go back.
SayCheeseBurgr: Emily and Edward, but Edward would still remain a main character, purely to line up with old continuity :p
sixteen_dnw: Edward to Wellsworth and Percy to Ffarquahar, they wouldn’t take Thomas away from Tidmouth.
EianHardy: I’d choose Thomas and Percy to go, as a way for them to be with Toby again in the branch line sheds.
TY_HAMMER_TIME: Its a tough one. I see a lot of thomas, percy, and Edward. But i think the "steam team" while still cool concept i think it hurt the series. Why not have a rotating cast of engines at Tidmouth Sheds per season. It would allow the writers to switch the engines in the shead and we wouldn't need to feel that Tidmouth Sheds = 100% steam team residences. Maybe then when Edward and Henry moved out it wouldn't have felt like such a blow or need explanation.
NWRGresley1942: Thomas and Percy because it would make sense that their work are closer to his branch line. Toby could also sleep at Ffarquhar with them. James because he destroyed the back of the sheds and Sir Topham would’ve strictly moved him out.
the_mega_derp: Move Thomas and Percy to Ffarquhar. It can have the same benefit as Edward moving to Wellsworth, since they’d be living on the line they work on. Whatever happened to them vibing in Ffarquhar sheds back in the day?
Jordan192692: I think Percy and Emily; To run the “new” Kirk Ronan branch-line. Thomas would miss both engines, but he would know it was for the best.
jaymeerkat520: It would be Thomas and Percy. Those characters have just become annoying now.
imnotveryfunny0: My take is Edward and Henry, yes, but don’t stick Nia there. Put her and her bland personality at Vicarstown. Put Rosie there with Rebecca, who knows the others but still has some well deserved fleshing out to be done.
HydesR01: Personally, I’d say Emily and Edward. Emily doesn’t really “click” with the originals, and I think Edward would be better suited at Wellsworth anyway. And in their spots, I’d say Rosie instead of Emily and Stanley in place of Edward.
Glover368: Emily and James, just send James back to his early RWS shed, and Emily can go back to Knapford.
RealMay_C: Emily and Henry, Emily is just a badly written character and Henry is just the stereotypical worrier and I'm really not a fan of that trope.
cgsmodelling: Let me say it loud enough so everyone can hear.... JUST ADD TWO MORE FUCKING BIRTHS. ITS NOT THAT DIFFICULT.
SquidTrain2020: Thomas and James can simply fuck off. But instead of Nia, replace James with Rosie and Thomas with Rebecca.
