was thinking about why the fandom focuses on callum's devotion to rayla more so than the other way around - even if they're equally nuts in a lot of ways and i do think the focus is 60/40 - and i think a lot if is really comes down to callum just being 'easier' to love than rayla like, objectively, especially in arc 1.

he's sweet and goofy and emotionally open, he can be insecure and get stuck in his head but that's very internal, he makes mistakes but never anything too major, at most interpersonal relationship wise he can be a bit pushy or momentarily cruel, he's a prince and wanted peace with the elves from the start, he never really causes massive disasters and when he does there was a 50-50 chance it was going to work out anyway or if he is taking a massive risk, thus far it's really only involved risking himself.

he's cute and caring and has never really broken her heart (as she maintains hope even throughout his bouts of cold shoulder in s4). of course she loves him. of course she'd risk everything and anything for him. and even in arc 2 when he's being cold, he's still caring and still knows when to step in and support her

rayla is like... a much more 'difficult' character and person from the start. she lies repeatedly, especially to cover up her failures, she can swagger without actual substance, she's snarky and stand offish and can be snappish. she breaks at the worst of times and often leads to other people being put at risk. she abandons him and breaks his heart. she showed up threatening to kill him. she blew up their lives together and repeats the same mistakes over and over again.

on a surface level and on an interpersonal level, she's far more of an overt piece of work, whereas callum's nastiness comes out more sparingly and is more hidden under the surface; it's not always so apparent. but rayla's typically is, she is a moonshadow elf who fundamentally cannot hide her flaws even when she's trying to so hard

and callum loves her anyway.

he's endeared by the snark, he persists past the standoffish, she pushes him away and he keeps coming back to try and help her, he gets angry but he ultimately (and always rather quickly) forgives her, he's had multiple people telling him that she's bad and cannot/should not be trusted and just flat out doesn't listen to them, because he believes so fundamentally in her goodness, even or especially when she doesn't believe in it because of all the reasons above. he knows she can be difficult and he either doesn't care or loves her not in spite of those things but because of those things. and that's what's so appealing about that aspect of their dynamic.

callum is a wonderful walk in the park when it comes to catching feelings with only a few hiccups, and so often rayla is a ditch with spikes, and callum just goes "challenge accepted" every time (and succeeds) because he knows/believes that she's worth it (and he's right)

Okay, I think I understand the interpretation of the last section of Fred's last letter a lot better now (ty twt user who pointed it out)

How it is written: "For now, I don't think the..you know...mmm the letter exchange will be paused."

How I think me and a lot of other people...and tubbo probs saw it: "For now, I don't think the...you know. Mmm the letter exchange will be paused.

To simplify it more I think it boiled down to: "For now, I don't think the... (Changes mind). The letter exchange will be paused.

How I think it's meant to be read/interpreted (again a guess but it makes sense): "For now, I don't think the [...you know...] letter exchange will be paused."

The whole interpreted thing would be: "For now, I don't think the letter exchange will be paused."

I think that the "...you know...mmm" serves as an interrupter which made the sentence's actually meaning very blurred.

I think that interrupter messed a lot of us up in actually digesting what was said (which is no fault to the actual admin ik language, especially English, is a bitch when it comes to that)

So no, i don't think the whole thing misinterpretation is because tubbo is dyslexic because he read it exactly how it is written.

It's the tones and certain pauses that made it harder to understand. Because, as you can tell, you can interpret what was said in 2 ways. It's now obvious after what was said by tallulah, the 2nd interpretation seems to be the actual interpretation.

i cannot express enough just how badly i want a parallel scene of tim and lucy confiding in their respective besties (angela and nolan) about each other. i want it to cut back and forth between them oversharing the feelings that have been brewing between them since they kissed in her apartment. i want nolan and lucy’s relationship brought up again, only for her to point out that what she feels for tim is “so much more” than whatever it was they had; i wanna see tim parallel that by confessing to angela that he’s even more foolishly in love than he was in the beginning with isabel. that whatever he felt for her — (and every woman after) pales in comparison as to what he feels for a certain dog loving, empathetic, true crime addict who weirdly loves pickles.

Sometimes I feel like my relationship with my romantic orientation is so confusing and convoluted that no one's ever going to be able to keep up with it in a relationship, and honestly I'm not sure if that bothers me or not

maybe i'm just always playing too conciliatory but even when i have all companions around at all times so i can't avoid potential disapproval everyone's approval is, like, 60 minimum by halfway through act 2. like has anyone actually organically gotten a companion to leave their party because of low approval and not a story event. kind of wish it was harder to balance being friends with everybody

#balls your gay 3 #a 0-100 numerical scale is inherently like. not going to be able to capture the nuances of a relationship with someone ofc #and it's particularly interesting to me the instances when you can avoid approval changes when it feels like you really shouldn't #mostly from a like game design perspective. characterization wise approval honestly means very little #i did like the friendship/rivalry system in da2 it's a little more complex though i think people saying 'bring back rivalmances' are insane #like the execution of them is pretty bad esp bc the little bit of added complexity is not enough to account for like #hawke being a total asshole with fundamentally incompatible morals compared to their companion. you can be so awful to merrill and isabela.#Now i'm making myself want to play dragon age again don't fucking do it.
