I've started reading the Haikyuu manga (partly as a way to nurse my bleeding heart from the damage MHA season 6 has caused it) and forgot how fucking hilarious the build up around Noya coming back is.

Tanaka made him sound like both the baddest ass ever and an absolute genius. Then this little gremlin who keeps rolling around all over the floor whilst yelling turns up instead :')

I thought of an idea that I’m sure has been done before but imagine:

Karasuno as baseball players — what positions would they be??

I have my own ideas but I thought maybe you’d like to brainstorm with me!

anon!!! i love this thank u so much for letting me brainstorm with u. i’ve seen a few hq baseball au’s but most of them don’t really go into what positions people would play other than who the main battery would be. i’m trying to think about what positions would suit them physically but also fit with their growth as characters. i got SO into this and i loved thinking about how their skills as volleyball players translated to another sport lol. it got SO LONG though so i had to put it under a read more 💀💀💀

of course we’re going to have the kagehina battery. i know everyone makes the setters the catchers in baseball aus but kageyama was made to be a catcher okay. super agile and has great reflexes, great lower body strength, strong arm, amazing game sense, quick thinker. superrrrr high baseball iq. it’s perfect. and we’re obviously making hinata a pitcher. almost all of hinata’s motivation comes from him wanting to prove people who look down on him wrong and i think that would translate nicely to him being a pitcher. he definitely would’ve still been looked over because of his height and body type. i hate to compare him to eijun in dna because i’m trying not to compare characters too much but i think he probably definitely has something very special about his pitching that kageyama witnessed during his last at bat against hinata in their middle school game. their dynamic just fits perfectly for this. i honestly could go on and on about a kagehina battery lol.

suga’s going to be our relief catcher. i think he has a good eye for baseball and pretty good reflexes but not the best throwing arm. until kageyama comes around to challenge him he probably struggles with making risky calls especially late in the game.

as for other pitchers, im going to make asahi a pitcher. he probably has a really heavy fastball, maybe also a curveball. our beloved asahi just starts out with the spine of a limp noodle and doesn’t necessarily have the mental fortitude it takes to be a pitcher. i think he and suga would make a great battery but i think before kageyama and hinata came, suga would have definitely prioritized asahi’s mental state over his play calling in order to keep him in the game as long as possible. him being a pitcher also allows he and noya to still have their whole “dont you know i’m right behind you” dynamic.

karasuno is a team that probably struggles with finding pitchers. i think tanaka at least really WANTED to be a pitcher, but definitely had to come to terms that he would be better at another position. maybe not super popular but i’m kind of thinking about yamaguchi as a pitcher?? i struggle choosing between putting him as a closing pitcher that they only use in certain situations or a pinch hitter. i think both fit his character well. i could see him wanting to perfect a pitch that hinata and asahi don’t have but i can also see him working really hard on his batting. whhhdjdjdjd i can’t decide, let me come back to him later.

okay now, 1B we obviously have big man sawamura daichi. not tall but he’s broad which is good for first base. big strong man with good game sense and quick reflexes. BIG POWER HITTER. my guy probably breaks karasuno’s record for most home runs in a season during his third year. i love him.

okay second baseman is who i’m struggling with the most. i don’t see any of karasuno’s starters being on second base. they need to be quick, they need to have a good eye, they need to be skilled, they need to be consistent at bat. call me crazy but i’m kind of thinking narita? i originally had ennoshita at 2b and narita at 3b, but narita isn’t as physically strong as ennoshita, but he has pretty good speed and his game sense in haikyuu is 4/5, so i think he would do better at 2b.

short stop we obviously have noya. besides kageyama he’s probably the best player on the team. really could honestly play any position that’s how good he is. doesn’t have height but his inhuman reflexes make up for it. he’s fast and much stronger than he looks. he can jump. amazinggggg agility. noya is just amazing and probably got a million offers to play at different high schools.

third base, i feel like most would put tanaka here and i GET THAT but i’m putting ennoshita because i remembered that furudate said he was one of the strongest characters in hq even though his stats don’t really reflect that lmfao. he’s super similar to daichi though so i think if he beefed up a little he’s make a great third baseman. probably a big hitter but ennoshita strikes me as someone who struggles to get on base. strong arm though.

okay NOW FOR OUTFIELD. considering how fucking insane japanese high school baseball is, your outfielders have to be pretty good and narratively i think these people would also be good in outfield. i did kind of struggle with this because tsukki, tanaka, and kinoshita all have different strengths but are lacking in other areas.

i’m putting tanaka at center field okay. i think out of the three of them he makes the most sense to play center and is overall a little better technically than the other two. his power stat in hq is 5/5 so i think that would translate well to him having a really really good throwing arm and also being a good power hitter. tanaka’s game sense sucks but he makes up for it with strength and being able to jump.

kinoshita is going in right field. tanaka is stronger but kinoshita is faster. he’ll definitely have to work on his strength and if he was better all around i would rather have him in center field but i think he’ll do well there.

and then we have tsukishima. i think tsukishima should be in outfield not only because of his skillset but because i think it makes sense with his character arc. tsukki probably was put in the outfield as a kid and became a little complacent because “oh i’m in the outfield i don’t have to try as hard because this is where they put the bad players.” it works well with his “it’s just a club” mindset. i think he would learn pretty fast that at the level they’re wanting to play at, outfield isn’t where they put the bad players. so he’s going in left field because of how good of a defensive player he is. has the weakest arm out of the three of those and also isn’t a big hitter but he has great game sense and can be fast if he tries. i think he would definitely still have his ~moment~ while playing against shiratorizawa that makes him realize how much he actually loves baseball and wants to try to be better.

i definitely need to think about their batting order but to sum up their positions we have

-yamaguchi (?????)(ph) (i’m going to have to think on him, i kind of like the idea of yamaguchi wanting to be in outfield with tsukki but then after seeing shimada pitch during that game with the neighborhood association deciding that he wants to try pitching?? i think it would work well with the motifs we see of him running on “ahead” of tsukishima, with him being in front of tsukki on the mound but i think his position as a pinch server is more similar to him being a pinch hitter in the sense that if he was a pitcher, he would have an entire inning or two to prove himself but as a pinch hitter, he only has that at bat to do something, just like how as a pinch server if he doesn’t get the ball in play during that first serve then it’s over for him. i dont know let me know what you think!!!!!!!)

Infp-t,Sagittarius but it doesen't really fit to me i think,i have a mild form of autism but it's not really noticeable, ambiverted,ambivert,Im open minded(my friends say they can always be themself around me) caring and very nice(sometimes to nice that i get hurt) i always try to help someone and be always there for someone,insecure,usaly im calm but i can be hilarious, but my parents say that i'm a bumpkin and sometimes speak a little loudly when I'm excited or angry😅, forgiving,kinda stubborn,a little hotheaded sometimes,dreamy, tolerant,im very muddle-headed(but not stupit i have an IQ from 135)and very clumsy,im humorous,i can be very quick-witted sometimes and everyone is surprised,i hate to hurt people(in any way)but if someone hurt my family/friends im very Protectiv. If i know someone really good and feel comfortable with the person i can be kind of a tease or sessy but not in a hurtig way.Sometimes i'm to honest and just say what i think but my friends/family know that i never mean what i say in a mean way and i don't even notice that it could be misunderstood. Im very loyal. I am sometimes very emotional but can also come across as very emotionless sometimes even if I am not (I cry about someone fall over a stone in a movie😅 but i don't cry infront of someone if someone died, i just can't, i try to hold in my tears and don't wan't to make thinks worse). I can good empathize with other people's feelings if I want to. I often complain about my physical health like an old woman but everyone thinks that it's funny and old people feel young in my presence😅,but as soon as I feel really bad I don't want anyone to worry, but you can tell by the fact that I would be very cuddled that i dont feeling well. Im kinda lazy sometimes😅. I know how i get what i want(it can be in a very Smart and creative way or I annoy a person until I get what I want😅).

If I should argue, I tend not to admit that I am wrong and to look to the other person to blame, but when I have calmed down again (after 15 minutes at the latest) I apologize. If i'm extremely angry it could be that i'm offensive,and I tend to be very sensitive and quickly feel attacked, and I am very stubborn. My best friend once said I look like an aggressive hamster going to War, but as soon someone hurt my Family im a fiery Tiger. Luckly i don't get angry often. I can't be angry at someone for long, and if there was an Argument after i calmed down i act like we didn't fight 15 minutes ago. I don't often have arguments,it's very rare.

I am an open book and you can ask me anything ,if I am comfortable with a person. For someone at my age i have a big fantasy (i don't mean in a Pervert way,and not in a childish way i think). If i'm never good enough for a person and no matter what i do is not good enough and someone always complain about me i tend to be short tempered. Im also slithly "scared"of doing something wrong and try to do everything right,and ask often questions to make sure. I tend to over do it with presents. I tend to be a perfectionist with my drawings but with everything else i try only half-heartedly unless i do something for someone i like.

If some of my friends/family member Feeling down i ask if there want to Talk or if they want a hug/if its ok that im hugging them (I very rarely hugged anyone,so it's something special). If someone is hurt i will take care of them like a nurse/Mother.

Im very supportive. If i give Hugs it's something special,i do that very rare,because...i feel awkward..i never got many hugs or stuff like that in my live,i like them but im not used to them.

I hate/don't like(or im scared of): crowds,heights, the darkness, clowns and grasshopers and to be somethere i never be there alone,im not the biggest fan of sports (except for soccer, swimming, badminton, dancing and a game that you play with a basketball it's called 24 i think,recently volleyball but just watching the game I'm bad at playing it).Sticky stuff,Sand/Dirt, My sense of direction is as good as that of a potato. I hate if something is unfair or someone ignoring me. I hate arrogant narcissistic people.

I like: to draw (Anime or i try realistic)to listening to music sometimes i forget myself if i draw or daydream and i start to sing or dance. Im not the best at singing but im good at dancing(but just free dances,i can't even dance Macarena...and i can only dance the basic steps of the waltz😅).i can play the piano and can draw,i love roses (i'm a bit obsessed with everything that has to do with roses😅),i like stargazing,i like to eat strawberrys and Chocolate and meat,i like trampolin jumping and to listening to music,to swim,movies/Games,im shy about skinships at first but i like them,to sleep or daydream,to read english,to learn languages,i like dogs i have one a crazy bishon frise girl named Elli,teoreticaly i can cook and bake kinda good but im to Lazy to do it or to do it alone, i like almost any Music besides of havy Metal and other exceptions,i also like classic Music but it makes me sleepy😅

Love Language: first im very shy about skin ships but i like them (but im not the biggest in physical affection,it depents on the day,on one day it's only small skin ships but on another day/Minute I could tackle the person with cuddles and kisses and rave about the person like a crazy woman,but usaly only in privat),i like to messing up the hair of someone i like or playing with them (it's relaxing to me,but i only do that than i know the person longer, i also like if the the person do the same with me, i feel small and i get sleepy when someone play with my hair),i tend to spend too much money on the person i like or are in a relationship with and overdo it with gifts. Im always there for the Person and Support them no matter by what. After i know the person longer i tend to be very honest and im also a big tease in any way. Im also very  patient in a relationship.

What is important for Me about the Person: The Person must be Loyal,should have humor and be patient with me should accept me as the person i am,must not be violent/rude ,should support me.

My goal: is to have many childrens and to get Married, to finally find someone who loves me for who I am and doesn't lie to me and is loyal.I also hope that People like my Drawings.

Haikyuu Characters as Theater Kids: Fukurodani/Nekoma Edition

Bokuto:

Cannot remember his lines FOR SHIT

Exaggerates some of his lines to make them cooler

Goes emo when he messes up. One time he missed a cue and proceeded to yell how sorry he was to the audience, and then hid under a table and refused to come out. They had to escort the audience until he recovered.

Volume control? 🤨 This man is yelling all his lines. At least he has a lot of energy and enthusiasm?

Would beg to be the lead and then proceed to mope for hours when he found out he didn’t get it

Doesn’t ever STFU. Ever.

Laughs really loudly at the play from offstage. The audience hears everything.

Unintentionally funny

Constantly looking for Akaashi and gives him a huge hug after every show and says he is glad he has him as his biggest supporter 🥰

Pouts if he doesn’t get enough applause or attention

Asks for validation every time he does something good. Once said his line really well and turned excitedly to the audience and said “Did you guys hear that? I NAILED THAT LINE!” 😄

Akaashi:

Is a talented actor with a really angelic, soft singing voice

Does not want to be the lead, cause doesn’t like the attention all on him

Tries to help Bokuto learn lines (key word tries)

Has the patience of A SAINT

Needs coffee before rehearsals or else. Bokuto calls Akaashi without his coffee “Decaf Akaashi”

Decaf Akaashi is terrifying because he loses any sort of filter

He’s like Tsukishima, but even more ruthless. Because every insult he makes is meant to hit exactly where it hurts. And nobody is safe.

Some examples:

1. Hinata forgot his script and Akaashi said, “Of course YOU would forget your script you absolute idiot. Not that it makes a difference, because hearing you try to read is more painful than you forgetting your lines.”

2. Ushijima was in the middle of a sentence, and Akaashi said, “I really hoped your boring fucking personality wouldn’t translate onstage. Pity that you’re unable to be likable no matter the context.”

3. Halfway through the first act of a dress rehearsal, Akaashi stood up and announced, “Wow, you guys are really shitty at this. You should all just quit while you’re behind.”

The whole cast had an intervention. Daichi literally bought a coffee maker to have backstage at all times because DAICHI was scared

After that Akaashi was perfectly fine, but the cast knew not to get on his bad side

Akaashi has repressed rage. I won’t take any criticism on this

Lev:

Uncoordinated…so uncoordinated

Trips over everything and steps on everyone’s feet during the dance scenes

Was removed from the show because he was a safety hazard, and, in Kenma’s words, “a danger to himself and others.”

Yaku:

Was one of Lev’s victims

Broke his leg

RIP short king you will be missed 😔

Kenma:

Plz no emotion he is monotone

Where is the flavor? 😒

Brings his switch on stage with him

Doesn’t look up at the audience

Nobody can hear anything he says

Skips practice more than he goes to it

Every time something goes wrong, he says, “Lev this is your fault.”

It’s basically Nekoma’s motto at this point

Kuroo:

Snide comebacks

This man is roasting his friends, especially Bokuto, every time they mess up

Very distracting

He is smart but every time him and Bokuto are together, their collective IQ is equivalent to a pineapple. And that’s being generous.

Kept snickering the whole time with that shit-eating grin. You know the one.

Also flirts with everyone. His love language is being a snarky little shit.

Finally, Daichi told Kuroo, “If you’re gonna come to practice can you at least join the play? Just be any love interest? You already have like weird sexual tension with everyone anyway so you won’t even have to act.”

He ended up playing an evil villain. Why you may ask? Two words. Hyena laugh.

And as I always say, “if villain why sexy? 🤔”

Yamamoto:

Proud member of the Kiyoko Simp Club

Yelled. Every. Line. So. Loud.

Daichi told him he could be the announcer instead to save everyones’ eardrums during the actual play

Unfortunately Daichi failed to realize that giving Yamamoto access to a megaphone and loudspeakers was not the best idea

He tried to serenade Kiyoko over the speakers. With an original song. It was not good.

Lost speaker privileges

Sorry king, Kiyoko’s too good for everyone. It’s time to accept the truth 😌

I don’t think this one wasn’t as good as the other ones 😥I do love Akaashi with my whole heart but I do think he is one of those people who would be really scary if he didn’t have caffeine.
