Tumblr media
Luke was better to her than anything you could possibly expect. He was surprisingly gentle when it came to her, hugging and caressing her that seemed impossible for the way he was and the life he lived. People saw Luke as the 6-foot-odd man that could rip you apart without an issue, without even breaking a sweat but he was so much more than that.
He was so much more than the leather jacket-wearing gangster that everyone depicted him as; heartless and stoic. He was a great lover if he let people in, and she had never been loved that way with anyone before. Surely though, with his life, there were complications to their relationship.
He was different from other people, more violent, more dangerous. The gang, which was run by Luke and three of his closest friends, Calum, Ashton and Michael, was well-known and feared among many, but they were left alone by the police. The police were aware that they existed, but they didn’t do anything about it. There were more cons to arresting them than there were pros.
Luke’s life made everything very interesting. He was rich, of course, and after a while of them dating she had moved into his condo. It was massive, bigger than any house she had ever lived in before and it was just for the two of them. It was a luxurious life that she had not experienced before, and she was still getting used to it.
If there was one thing about Luke that she had learned, it was that buying her things was his love language. He never had been great at the romantic side of their relationship considering he hadn’t had a girlfriend in a long time and normally just had one-night stands, but he tried his best. That didn’t meant that he ever softened up during sex, though.
Another thing about his life that made stuff interesting was that Luke had to drop things for work. Sometimes stuff would go wrong on a run, or other gangs would try stuff with them and he would have to leave. It was understandable, but still frustrating for her, especially the one time where an emergency had occurred right in the middle of them having sex.
Luke had been very busy the past few weeks, having to deal with numerous issues with the gang and barely having enough time to spend with the needy girl who craved his attention. There had been issues in the club, that was what he had said, but he didn’t go into much detail on the matter, he never did. He liked to keep his relationship and gang life very separate from one another.
A lot of the mornings this week she had woke up alone, void of the warmth she liked to cuddle into in the morning. At least she was getting him all to herself this weekend, she thought. After barely spending anytime with her that weekend, Luke had promised they would spend the weekend together, even if the club was set on fire. Calum, Ash and Mike will deal with it.
“Bambi?” The nickname fell from his lips when he stepped in the front door. She brought her eyes up to look at him, happiness filling her features. She hadn’t been expecting him home for another few hours, but she definitely wasn’t complaining.
Running over to him, she jumped, knowing full well that he would catch her as her arms wrapped around his neck. Her head snaked into the nape of his neck, comfortingly taking in the scent of her favorite person, his arms holding her protectively close to his body. They were alone, thankfully enough. After all, she really hadn’t thought out her jumping hug because her short skirt had ridden up, showing off her underwear which Luke most definitely would be furious if anyone but him saw.
“Welcome home,” She whispered into his neck, hand coming up to play with the hair on the back of his neck. Her eyes fluttered, eyelashes tickling the skin on Luke’s neck as he rubbed her back, taking in the comfort of having the smaller girl in his arms.
He walked forward so that he was fully in the house, using his leg to kick the door shut behind him before walking towards the middle of the room near the couch. He slowly lowered himself until he was sitting down on the plush cushions, the girl now in his lap, still being held closely.
“Bambi?” Luke started, making sure that the girl was listening, to which she hummed into the side of his neck, not willing to move just yet, “I know you wanna hug and kiss and stuff right now but we don’t have much time to pack your bags, you have to stay at the safe house for a few days.”
Almost immediately, the warmth of her face was gone from his neck, and her hands were no longer playing with his hair. She was still held tightly on his lap, mostly because he held her there with a semi-firm grip, her looking up at him with furrowed eyebrows and sad eyes.
This wasn’t the first time this had happened. In fact, it had happened quite a few times and each time it made her rather frustrated. She had to remove every single piece of evidence that she even existed in the apartment, and get hidden away in a safe house for the entire weekend, on the edge of town, where she wasn’t allowed to leave until Luke got her himself.
She hated the safe house.
“But you said-”
“Bambi,” Luke cut her off rather firmly, sending her a look which she knew meant that there were no arguments in this. She almost wanted to whine, to argue with Luke and tell him that he said this was going to be their weekend together, just them, no gang stuff, but now she wasn’t even going to get to see him at all this weekend, “I need to have a few low levels over to go over plans, and they’ll be over tomorrow which means we can’t let them know you’re here or that you exist. They still can’t fully be trusted yet, which means that they could be moles and I’m not putting you at risk for that.”
His speech was ended in a soft tone, looking down at her with a small amount of sadness for the girl. His hand comfortingly raked through her hair, piercing blue eyes looking at her but her eyes stay looking down. Slowly, without saying anything, she climbed off of his lap and started to retreat to their bedroom.
“Bambi? Where you goin, baby?” He called out, looking at the girl who stopped in her tracks, looking over her shoulder.
“I’m packing. That’s what you wanted me to do, was it not?”
Not many words were exchanged afterward with the girl silently packing away every aspect of her life into two duffle bags. She wasn’t even allowed to properly live in her own house, no decorations, photos in frames, nothing. Everything she owned had to be easily removable so it looked like she didn’t even exist in her own home.
Luke watched her from the bedroom door, leaning against the frame coolly as he analyzed her movements. He knew she was frustrated, but she had to know he was doing this to protect her, she should have anyway. Rather harshly, she finally zipped up the duffle bags, throwing them over her shoulder and walking straight past Luke without acknowledging him.
He understood that she was frustrated, but was she really angry at him?
She was quickly at the door, grasping at the handle when Luke had snapped out of his thoughts, walking over to her quickly with ease, taking a grip on her arm.
“You okay?”
“Dandy,” She replied bluntly, looking away from the slightly concerned man, almost as if she was itching to get away from him. Normally, even if she wasn’t happy about being sent away to the safe house, she still gave him a goodbye kiss, but it appeared that he wasn’t going to get one of those tonight, “Gotta go. Wouldn’t want to keep Jacob waiting, would we?”
She walked out of the apartment without another word, but Luke’s eyes were on her retreating figure, “We’ll speak about this on Sunday, okay baby?”
He barely even seen the nod that she sent him before she disappeared down the hallway.
. . . “Please, Jacob,” She pleaded with the driver, with puppy eyes and everything but he tried his best to remain stony-faced. Jacob was the only driver that Luke trusted Bambi with, he had grown up with the boys too, childhood friends with Michael apparently, who Bambi had never even met before.
Jacob was the leading driver for the gang, one of the getaway drivers for bigger and more important heists or events, but normally he just got called in for private transport of any important members of the gang. He, as well as practically anyone who had ever met the girl, had a soft spot for her, and she knew that.
“You do realize if I take you there that I am directly disobeying orders of the leader of one of the biggest gangs in California?” He asked ridiculously, shaking his head with his hands placed firmly on the wheel.
“Jacob-”
“No,” He replied firmly, looking at the girl through the rearview mirror, seeing her begging eyes and sad face.
The man knew that everything was frustrating for the girl, especially when she had to get up and move out of her own house just so that Luke could host meetings and debriefings for the gang.
“Please, Jacob. I’m going to be cooped up in a safe house for three days without talking to anyone, at least let me go to Anna’s for a few hours. She’s been my best friend since I was three, she’s trustworthy.”
The black-haired man didn’t reply for several moments, and a frown fell onto the girl’s face before he started to signal off the highway. It was a familiar road, the one that she had taken many times before to her best friend’s house, and honestly, she had never been happier to see it. At least she would get some enjoyment this weekend.
“Thank you so much, Jacob, just tell me how I can repay you,” The girl said once she was out of the car, bouncing lightly in excitement while she stared at the man who was still inside the car.
He gave her a small smile, one that showed he knew how much appreciation she felt towards him before his eyes turned to the door behind her, “Just enjoy yourself and make sure he doesn’t fire me for this.”
“Consider it done.”
It was nice to see Anna again, it had been two weeks since their last meet up and they had both missed each other greatly. Anna was drinking alcohol, but the smaller girl wasn’t. It wasn’t like she was afraid of what Luke would say if she did, because she certainly wasn’t afraid of Luke, but even though she was angry she didn’t want to disappoint him.
Not that she had exactly abided by his rules anyway, considering she was with Anna right now instead of locked inside the safe house. The safe house had slowly become the girl’s own personal prison, it was bare, bland, and had nothing for her to entertain herself, and there was no company. That’s what she hated most about it, the lack of social interactions she could have while she was in there.
“-we were talking about the weather and shit right? Then he asked to see my tits! I was like are you being serious right now?” Anna rambled on, talking about another failed love interest that had been using her for her body. Anna never seemed to be lucky in the dating apartment of life, but she was a successful girl, and a beautiful one at that, she would get there.
“Was he?”
Anna scoffed, taking another drink of her alcohol, “Yeah! He blocked me after I sent him pictures of minecraft chests and asked him what ones were his favourite.”
The smaller girl let out a laugh, looking at her best friend who had a sly grin on her face, trying to hide it with the glass in her hands.
“Speaking of guys though, how’s Mr. Hemmings then?” Anna jokingly asked the girl, cocking an eyebrow with a smirk on her face, swaying to the music that was loudly playing in the background.
“He’s good, I mean he’s doing good,” The smaller girl quickly corrected herself before her dirty-minded friend could make a joke about their sex life or ask about it. Anna hummed lightly, still smug and still swaying to the music, “I was supposed to be going to the safe house, but I’m here instead, I don’t think he’s very happy.”
“Girl, you’ve been here for nearly two hours!” Anna cried out in shock, eyes wide at the clear defiance that the small girl had for her 6-foot-odd gang leader boyfriend.
“And?”
“He’s bound to know by now! He’s not going to bust through my doors with his gang and shoot the place down is he?”
The girl shrugged lazily in reply, letting some of her hair fall in front of her face as she smiled at her friend, “Yeah he does know, he’s been blowing up my phone for an hour and a half.”
Anna fell dramatically against the back of the couch, hand still tight around her glass of lemonade and pink gin. Her free hand was laying across her forehead with her eyes shut, “Oh please tell me you’ve replied.”
“Nope.”
“Oh come on, I really like my door, believe it or not, I don’t want him or any of his gang members kicking it down!” Anna cried out, giving her best friend a pout to which she just laughed lightly in response.
“He won’t knock your door down, he probably won’t even come. He’s too busy debriefing his gang to even spend time with me and instead shipped me out of the house. Why does he care whether it’s yours or the safe house?”
However, she couldn’t have been more wrong because less than ten minutes later they heard a roaring engine speeding down the road. Anna, who shared a quick look with the smaller girl, got up and looked out the window, seeing no other than Luke gets out of his very expensive sports car and towards the house, “Guess you were wrong.”
He threw the door open, thankfully not breaking it down, his eyes quickly landing on the small girl, grabbing her and pulling her off of the couch, planting her by his side. His grip was tight on either side of her hips, almost as if it was a warning to stay by his side and cooperate for once in her life.
“Anna,” His accented voice wrung through the room as he gave the blonde a curt nod. She waved back awkwardly, maybe too hazed by the alcohol in her system to stay anything intelligible back, and Luke seemed to realize this, “don’t stay up too late, get a good sleep, okay?”
“Aye captain, yes sir,” She saluted him back with a smile on her lips, almost diffusing the tension in the room but it was barely a second later where Luke’s grip retightened on his girlfriend’s hips.
“Okay, good night.” He bid her farewell, walking out of the house with his slightly anxious girlfriend behind him. It seemed as if suddenly she was filled with regret and guilt, especially after seeing how angry Luke was with her.
“It isn’t Jacob’s fault I-” She started when the door shut behind them, the cold wind of the night surrounding her.
“Don’t,” He spoke gruffly, turning around to look down at her with angry blue eyes before grabbing onto her wrist and dragging her over to his car.
Luke hadn’t even locked his car when he had rushed inside to Anna’s house, not that he would be too bothered anyway, it wasn’t like anyone was going to steal the gang leader’s car, especially not in this neighborhood. He didn’t speak another word to the girl as he took her around to her side of the car, letting her get in before he leaned over and strapped her in, closing the door without a single word and getting in his own side.
He started the car up and the only noise heard in the car was the engine as it roared to life and they began to speed down the street. His blond hair was messy, jaw ticking with his eyes glued to the road, never once straying to the girl in the passenger’s seat. Her eyes, however, never strayed from him, picking up every sign that he was furious with her. His posture was rigid, he was impatient, breathing loudly and not even acknowledging her existence beside her; he was seething.
She wasn’t sure if they arrived too fast or too slow to the safe house honestly. Luke still didn’t utter a word, getting out of the car and slamming the door behind him. She knew not to move already, she knew that Luke didn’t want her to move and honestly she didn’t want to aggravate him further.
True to her belief, Luke opened her car door, undoing her seatbelt before pulling her out of the car. His eyes didn’t stay on her as he stormed into the house, a tight grip on the smaller girl’s wrist. She tried to get his attention, for him to say anything to her as he entered the house but it appeared he wasn’t in the mood to talk.
The main room was still dark, but just the feeling of being in here makes her feel sick. She wasn’t overexaggerating when she said how much she hated the safe house. It felt as if she was defeated, back where she didn’t want to be, somewhere she hated, and with her boyfriend furious at her.
In the time that she had been thinking of how much she loathed the building she stood in, Luke had let go of her wrist and wordlessly made his way towards the front door again. The thought of him leaving her here, frustrated and alone all weekend made annoyance bubble in her stomach and before she can help herself she’s shouting over at him, “So that’s it? Are you just going to lock me in here and leave again?”
Luke stilled, but he doesn’t bother to reply or even look at his girlfriend, just standing there like a statue. She can’t find it in herself to regret the words that come out of her mouth, especially after she awaits the nonexistent reply, causing annoyance to bluster in her stomach. Her eyes roll and her arms flail slightly before they slap against her thighs with a low scoff falling out of her lips, “Typical.”
“Excuse me?” Luke turned around, his voice hard and powerful, one that would normally make her shake, make her look up at him with wide eyes unsure of what to say. Their eyes meet, his blue piercing into hers. He took a step forward, tilting his head slightly with an eyebrow raised, almost as if he’s encouraging her to repeat what she had said moments before, “What did you say, Bambi?”
Her mouth was agape as she stuttered lightly, any feeling of bravery that she had mere seconds ago fizzling away into nothingness. Her eyes darted from one of his eyes to the other, looking at the expectant and slightly smug face as he looked at the stuttering girl in front of him. She tried her best to find the right words to say but she had, ultimately, been rendered speechless.
“Come on, if you’re so big and brave, baby, why don’t you speak up a little? Tell me what you said.” He walked towards her until he’s right in front of her, chests barely ten centimeters apart. Two of his fingers make their way under her chin, pushing her face up until she had no other choice but to look him in the eye, holding her face in such a way that she can’t move easily.
Silence filled the room once more, simply with the two of them staring at one another. Luke stared down at her with a slight smugness and with her looking up at him still frozen almost. When he does talk next, he muttered quietly, almost condescendingly with anger trailing in his voice, “You ruined an important meeting tonight all because you couldn’t follow a simple instruction-”
“Well, believe it or not, I don’t like to be locked up in a house for days on end like a caged animal,” She doesn’t even register that she’s speaking until she’s finished, the words flowing out of her mouth cutting off Luke’s lecture.
“This house is to keep you safe,” His grip on her jaw doesn’t loosen at this point in time, blue eyes swimming with rage. In all of their time together, he doesn’t remember his Bambi giving him this much attitude or a time where she’s tried to argue with him like this. Sure, there were times where they had disagreements or times where there had been a little bit of attitude but he had quickly sorted that out.
“I was safe at Anna’s and I was happy. Isn’t that what you want? For me to be happy?” Her voice is quiet, bottom lip threatening to quiver. She hated how she cried whenever she got frustrated, and right now she’s barely holding back from her eyes becoming glassy. She’s frustrated and annoyed, but she doesn’t want to look like a baby right now, especially when this was her first fight with Luke.
“Don’t try and guilt trip me now, Bambi. It isn’t going to work tonight.”
“I hate it here! I hate constantly having to move into this stupid fucking house where I have nothing to do and no one to talk to! It doesn’t even fucking have wifi or anything! It’s dumb and all because you’re paranoid!” After she finished shouting, she ripped her head out of his hold, standing back and away from him, back coming in contact with the marble counter of the kitchen island.
Her arms are crossed over her chest, and as Luke processed her words, he shook his head. His next words are low, like it’s a warning, “Don’t shout at me like that.”
“I’m not-”
“Listen here, doll, because I’m only going to tell you this once,” Luke doesn’t even let her finish before he’s talking. His voice is forceful and strong, something he normally reserved for when his men do something stupid like ruin a drug run, “You don’t call the shots here, I do. I’m in a gang and there are a lot of people that would put a bullet in your pretty little skull just to get to me,” He pressed a finger against her temple, hard enough for her to feel the pressure but not enough for it to hurt her, “People die in this lifestyle and I send you here so it doesn’t happen to you. Don’t tell me that I’m paranoid because I’m trying to keep you safe.”
“I get it, I do-”
“Then why won’t you just do what I say?”
“Because I’m tired of being your secret.” She whispered, looking up at Luke’s blue eyes sadly, tears gathering in her own eyes. His head dipped a little, shifting his weight onto his hands which are on either side of her, trapping her against the kitchen’s island counter.
It took Luke a few seconds to finally muster up words, and just from his tone she can tell that he’s disappointed, maybe in himself, maybe because of how she thought of their relationship, “You aren’t my-”
“Then why have I never met Cal? O-Or Mikey? Why is the only time I’ve ever met Ashton an accident? And why do you constantly send me away even if it’s only people you trust going to be there? And-”
“Bambi,” Luke groaned lightly but got cut off straight away when the girl continued to rant, barely even realizing that he had tried to cut her off.
“This was supposed to be our weekend and you just sent me away. I was so excited to finally get a whole weekend of you to myself but no, I was shipped off to this shithole again-”
“This was all because you just wanted me to yourself?” Luke asked incredulously, an eyebrow raised at the girl whose eyes snapped up to meet his.
“That’s what you want, Bambi? You got it.” Luke said, his eyes staying on hers, never wavering as he commanded. He pushed back, hands off the counter and now standing at his full height, towering over her with his eyes never leaving hers, “Hands out. Now.”
“Luke what-”
Her eyes frantically search his face, eyebrows knitting together in confusion. She can feel her heart rate pick up, beating loudly in her chest.
“No, Bambi. You’ve done plenty talking tonight. No talking unless I ask you a question, got it?”
She nodded her head, gulping down the thickness in her throat as a thick leather wrapped around her wrists, constricting them. Her mouth parted slightly, she hadn’t even seen or heard Luke take off his belt, but now she can’t even part her hands anymore.
His head dropped to her neck and she can feel her stomach flutter simply by his breath fanning over the skin on her neck. His hand made its way up to the nape of her neck, grabbing a handful of hair and yanking on it so her neck is fully exposed to him, “You’ve me all to yourself tonight, Bambi. And you’re all mine.”

But suddenly from somewhere out of the blue, I see a different light around you.
For Anon: Julie and Luke, family friends, end up sick together. While cooped up sick at Julie's, a little conversation leads to a lot of secrets.
A/N: skdjje I am so sorry it took me this long to get to it sjjdje and this kind of got away from me once I finally got into writing it oops.
Special thanks to @i-spit-on-fire for the title!! Love you, doll 🥰
Julie Molina had a great friend circle. She loved each of them equally. Well, maybe Flynn got a bit more than everyone else but then again, Flynn had also seen Julie throwing up the last time she had food poisoning so maybe Flynn deserved a little extra love for sticking around past that.
The only person in the circle that could contend for Flynn's level of appreciation in Julie's eyes was Luke Patterson. And it was only because her mom and his dad were childhood friends, which, naturally, led to Julie and Luke growing up childhood friends.
Despite their close friendship, Luke and Julie rarely interacted at school. They had their own, smaller, circles and that was perfectly okay. Their circles merged after Luke and his friends played live music for Julie's theater performance when the radio gave out without warning. Well, to get more specific, it was some time after Alex and Willie started dating and involving both their friends on lunches and hangouts.
So yeah, things were great, school was fun and they all had a bunch of fun together. They even planned to visit an amusement park that Saturday too.
Unfortunately, the trip to the amusement park seemed like it was gonna have to wait.
"I told you not to hug me," Julie grumbled through her stuffy nose.
Luke pulled a face for her. "I didn't. I hugged my mom and then you hugged my mom. I'm not at fault here."
Julie sighed. "You think she's sick, too?"
"Nah, mom's got a great immune system. She probably just has a slight cough."
Just then a coughing bout overtook Julie. Leaning forward in her chair, she took a few deep breaths, relaxing as she felt Luke's hand moving in slow circles on her back. Slowly, her breathing returned to normal and the sharp ache in her forehead subsided. When she sat back again, she leaned her head against Luke. "I hate being sick. This is all your fault."
"We've just been over this. I didn't hug you."
"Potato, pot-ah-to."
Luke rolled his eyes. "You know you're heavy, right?"
Julie's response was to stop half-supoorting herself and drop all her weight on Luke's side, nearly sending them both off their chairs.
"If you weren't so sick, I'd . . . I'd pinch you!"
"You mean, if you had the energy to do it."
"Yeah, whatever," Luke managed to say before he coughed too, albeit much less than Julie. "Think your mom will drop me home?"
"You live right next door, idiot. Obviously."
When Rose walked into the nurse's office, she sighed at the two teens. "We told you two to stay at home. Come on, let's go."
Tumblr media
As Rose pulled into her driveway, Luke thanked her for the ride.
"Where do you think you're going, mijo?"
"H-home?" Luke asked uncertainly, his hand on the door handle.
"Your parents are out of town for the weekend."
"Yeah," Luke nodded, "I was gonna stay over at Bobby's but I don't wanna make him sick--"
"Well, Julie's already sick anyway. You can stay with us and when you're feeling better, you can go over to Bobby's."
"But--"
"Mijo, I'm not asking," Rose said, staring at Luke in the rearview mirror, daring him to get out of the car.
Julie snickered at the fear in his eyes as he settled back into the seat and waited until Rose had pulled further up towards the house before attempting to get out again.
"Why don't you two go get comfortable on in the living room, hm? I'll put some food up for you and it'll be ready before you even know it."
Julie yawned as she trudged past Rose and into the house. "Can we sleep instead?"
"Absolutely. Go get some rest, okay? Luke, if you're tired, you can sleep in Carlos' room. He's spending the week with Victoria so it's all yours if you need, okay?"
"Thank you," Luke managed before a yawn interrupted him.
Rose ruffled Julie's hair first, then Luke's. Now, what could she feed them that they'd manage to keep down?
Tumblr media
"Sorry I made you sick," Luke mumbled.
Julie shrugged. "It's okay. Flynn said she was gonna drag me on the biggest rollercoaster first so in a way, I'm kinda glad we won't be going tomorrow."
Luke rolled his eyes. "You do this everytime we go. Just get on the rollercoaster. It's not that much bigger than the one we went on last time."
Julie stared at Luke over her bowl of soup. "I passed out."
Luke shrugged. "It makes for a good story!"
"For you!"
"Don't yell, Julie, you don't have the lung capacity."
Julie scrunched up her nose and mocked Luke in a high voice. "You don't have the lunch capacity."
"Oh, real mature."
Julie blew a raspberry at Luke. A raspberry that turned into a cough. Luke was out of his blanket in a second.
"Julie?" Rose called from the kitchen. "You good, baby?"
"I got it!" Luke called back. He knelt in front of Julie as she hunched over and rubbed her back in small circles. "Easy, Jules," he murmured.
"I hate being sick," Julie said for the umpteenth time, resting her chin on Luke's shoulder.
Luke froze, one hand on Julie's arm, the other on her back. What was he supposed to do now? Just . . . hold her?
"I know," he said soothingly, "you'll get better quickly, don't worry."
"Ugh, I hope so." Slowly, Julie pulled away and eased back into the couch.
Luke pouted, only because he wanted to stay holding Julie in a gentle and comfortable embrace. He scrunched his nose up and quickly shook his head. What the hell was that all about?
He was back in his corner of the couch, under his blanket, when Rose arrived with a glass of water for each of them.
"I'm going to get dinner running and when I come back to check on you two, those glasses better be empty."
"Yes, mom," they chorused.
It wasn't really a big thing. Luke called her 'mom' often. Julie even called Emily 'mom' if she happened to be over at Luke's. But that didn't take away from Rose's (or Emily's) absolute delight over being called mom by her honorary child.
Tumblr media
"Sorry I made fun of you when you first got sick," Julie mumbled.
"It's okay," Luke said with a slight laugh, half paying attention to Julie and half paying attention to the TV. They'd taken a good nap and were already feeling better. "Karma got you, I guess."
"I guess."
"You got it bad, though," Luke said, glancing at Julie. "I never coughed like that."
"Exhibit A of why I utterly detest being sick. The headache is unbearable sometimes." Julie gave Luke a small smile. "But it's okay. I should already be feeling better by tomorrow."
Julie turned her gaze back to the TV. Luke didn't. He kept his gaze on Julie, watching her carefully. He'd always had the natural inclination to want to care for Julie, but until then it had always been small things. Wanting to make sure her cuts and scrapes got a band-aid. Wanting to check in with a simple text when she was sick. Wanting to be sure her work was up to date when she missed out.
But now . . . now it was a little different. It wasn't really strange, but he couldn't quite understand it. Why, when she complained about her headache, did he want to pull her close and try to distract her from it? Why, when she hunched over coughing, did he want to be by her side, holding her close and trying to ease the fit? Why, when she paid him no attention, did he want to just sit there and watch her?
Julie glanced back and Luke froze like a deer in headlights, his already pink cheeks growing redder. Julie grinned. "Is that the fever or are you shy about something?"
"Definitely the fever," Luke said quickly.
"Uh huh," Julie said with a grin, turning back to the TV again. "I think you're pretty cute too."
Luke shrank into his blanket. "I didn't say that."
"Your face said enough, Patterson."
"You really think I'm cute?"
Julie looked at Luke, who had the blanket wrapped over his head as he pouted at her. His flushed cheeks had calmed to the usual pink whenever he was running a fever. She couldn't help but smile. "The cutest."
He beamed. "I think you're pretty cute too. Wait, that's what you said--"
"Cute," Julie mumbled under her breath, shaking her head and turning back to the TV. She was surprised by Luke suddenly dropping his head in her lap. She grinned, amused. "Hi, there."
"Hi. I want attention."
"Well, mom said she was just gonna make sure Carlos' room is clean enough for you to walk without getting impaled by a Lego brick but I'm sure she'd be happy to listen to your gibberish when she's all done."
"I want your attention."
"And I wanna watch the season finale."
Luke turned over to glance at the TV. "You've seen this episode at least six times. I know because five of them were at my house and youd already seen it once before that."
Julie flicked Luke's nose lightly. "It's my favourite, leave me be."
"Fine, but I'm staying here."
"Okay, just be quiet."
Luke felt like he had left the land of the living when he felt Julie's fingers in his hair. She had absolutely no idea what she was doing and somehow, the fact that she was playing with his hair on autopilot made him giddy.
"Can you put this on the table for me, please?" Julie asked absently, resting her empty glass on Luke's shoulder.
He did as she asked, just managing to reach the coffee table.
"Thank you."
Bored but unwilling to move, Luke began to pick at the threads on Julie's bracelets. She rested her hand on his chest, knowing he'd start whining if she took the bracelets away.
"Who made this one for you?"
Julie glanced at her arm to see Luke playing with a blue string, her name strung on in letter beads, a star bead on either side. "You did."
"Really?"
"I think we were about eight or nine. That was when Flynn got her bracelet set and we spent so many lunches making bracelets. You got jealous because I kept wearing Flynn's bracelets so you made one for me yourself."
"Huh," Luke said, "I don't remember, though."
"Not surprising. You were running a fever then, too. A pretty high one. Your mom gave you cough syrup and you got a burst of creative inspiration. Haven't you heard her tell the story? It's one of her favourites."
"I hear the words 'when Luke was little' and I instantly tune it out."
Julie laughed. "Sounds about right."
Luke watched the smile linger on Julie's face as she watched the episode she knew by heart. God, she was so pretty.
Luke scrunched his nose up again. Yeah, Julie was pretty and yeah, he'd always known that. But in the way he knew Flynn was beautiful and Carrie was stunning. In the way he knew Reggie was adorable and Bobby was cute and Alex was a gorgeous. In the way he knew Willie was magnificent. It was just something he'd always known. He and his friends were hot as hell and that was just a fact that they all seemed to know.
But laying with his head in Julie's lap, watching her unconsciously smile at his own antics, it seemed like a brand new thought. How could someone he'd known his whole life suddenly look different?
"Julie."
"Hm?" Julie didn't look away from the TV.
"You're really pretty."
"Thank you," she said, smiling wider. She lightly tugged a lock of his hair. "You're pretty, too."
"No, I mean, like, really pretty. Like . . . ultra pretty."
Julie scowled at Luke. "What did you do?"
"Nothing! I just . . . I just really like your smile. It's so. . ."
"Pretty?"
Luke nodded. He poked her cheek lightly. "I like when you smile."
"Yeah?" Even if she wanted to, she couldn't hold back a smile.
Luke smiled too. "Yeah."
Caught up with Luke's spontaneous declaration, Julie mised her favourite part of the episode -- the one where they finally had their first date. But Luke didn't.
"When we get better," he said slowly, "when we're not sick anymore . . . Do you think we could go out together? Maybe next weekend?"
Julie nodded. "Absolutely. Flynn already texted about rescheduling--"
"No. No, I mean . . . like a date. Just you and me."
"Oh," Julie said softly, eyes wide.
"Oh? Julie, 'oh' is what you say when you get socks for Christmas."
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry, I'm just . . . surprised. I thought I worked out this crush thing and then here you are, asking me out and all I can think is that I wasted so much energy trying to stifle it all down when I could've just asked you out myself like two years ago."
Luke blinked up at Julie. "So, is that a yes or a no? I'm a little confused."
"Oh, only a little? Yes, you dork."
Luke suddenly yawned.
"Tired?"
"Only a little."
"Go to sleep," Julie said, using the same tone Rose had used on them both earlier.
Luke thought it was going to be pretty difficult to fall asleep when Julie was sitting there, threading her fingers through his hair like she had no idea how fast she made his heart beat. But it barely took him a minute before he was out completely. With a yawn of her own, Julie quickly followed.
Tumblr media
Carrie snickered softly. "Quick!" she whispered. "They're waking up!"
"Okay!" Willie whispered back. "Okay, hold it up."
The bunch of them gathered behind the ridiculously large cardboard posted they'd thrown together the moment they arrived after the text from Rose.
Blinking tiredly, Julie and Luke sat up and took a few seconds to focus on the grinning faces in front of them.
"Congratulations!"
Julie and Luke both turned several shades redder (not by any fault of their ebbing fevers) as the group thrust the banner forward. It's about damn time.
"Shut up," Julie mumbled, retreating under her blanket to hide her face.
Luke scowled. "You could've said something!"
"Watching was funnier," Alex admitted.
As he did, the front door opened and in walked Ray. He took one look at the scene before him and groaned. "I can't believe I lost a full ten dollars."
"You bet on us?" Julie shrieked, throwing the blanket off.
"Well . . . yeah," Ray said, "your Tia is very persuasive."
Julie shrank back into the blanket, groaning in embarrassment.
Rose gasped. "Someone get Emily on the phone! She owes me five dollars!"
"Mom!"
But despite the embarrassment that was their family, Julie and Luke were very happy to have finally admitted their feelings -- to themselves and to each other.
Neither of them could wait for next weekend.

Can be as silly as u want
Word Count: 1,200
A/N: I honestly did not know what to call this fic lol. But two fics being posted within a week.....!! Finishing up some old requests so once I'm done with those I will open requests again! Also thought this gif was perfect XD
Tumblr media
It had been a few days since any of you had found any recent hunting leads, and you desperately needed to get out of the bunker for a while. You know your brothers did too, but you've been around them all week and decided to take yourself on a little shopping trip. It wasn't that often that you got to spoil yourself with new clothes, you thought it would be a nice outing, until Dean had to be nosy.
“Hey, you wanna watch this movie with Sammy and I? Pretty sure this is the uncut version too.” Dean snarked as he held up the dvd case.
“Sounds fun, but I’m actually gonna go on a little shopping trip.” You said as you packed your wallet into your bag.
“Oh, uh we can tag along with you...” Dean suggested.
“That’s okay, I kind of just need to get out for a while.” You declined politely.
“That makes 3 of us. We’ve all been cooped up in here when were not out hunting. Let’s make it a trip!” Dean cheered.
“Uh, actually-”
“Hey Sammy!” Dean cut you off as he went to fetch Sam.
“Ugh, you've got to be kidding me.” You muttered as you grabbed your stuff.
You three drove to the mall that was a little far, but it had a variety of stores to shop from so you didn't mind. You just didn't think you would have your older brothers tagging along with you. And from your past experience, Sam and Dean hated going shopping, unless it was something in their interest. So you guessed they must've been pretty desperate to get out of the house. But, you weren't gonna let that stop you from enjoying your shopping trip.
You started with a few of your favorite clothing stores, browsing in a few of then you finally found the one that carried stuff more your style. Picking out a couple of shirts and jeans, you turned to your brothers that had been following you around as they ate their mall pretzels.
“I’m gonna try these on, why don't you guys go look for some things that you like?” You suggested, trying to get them out of your hair for a while.
“Fine. Meet us back by the food court in an hour.” Dean finally agreed.
You tried on a few tops, flannels, and some jeans. Then realizing you could really use some new bras. You wanted a few that you could wear while you weren't hunting, something other than sports bras.
After purchasing the few outfits, you made your way over to the food court. Sam and Dean were sitting on one of the couches with drinks in their hand.
“Did you guys get more food?” You asked, kind of hoping they got something for you.
“Uh, no. Just these.” Dean motioned to his drink cup.
“Sure.... look I wanted to stop by one more store so I’ll be back here in about 30 minutes.”
“No, c’mon we’ve been sitting here for 30 minutes.” Dean whined.
“Did you guys even buy anything?” You motioned to the bag.
“Yeah, this.” Sam handed you the bag. You pulled out a package out of the Spencers gifts bag and looked it over to see that Dean had bought a fake pile of vomit for pranks.
“Why did you show her?” Dean said with disappointment.
“Because it’s stupid and she probably wouldn't fall for it anyway.” Sam sighed.
“Whatever, I’ll be back in a bit.” You scoffed.
“Don’t worry, we’re coming with you.” Dean said as he hoisted himself up from the couch.
You knew you weren’t gonna convince your giant twelve year old brothers to sit still any longer so you just kept walking to the underwear store that you wanted to go to.
“Uh, Dean let’s just wait out here, I don't think she’ll be too long.” Sam huffed as he saw that you went into the Victoria’s Secret.
“Dude, what are you embarrassed? It’s just a store.” Dean nudged Sam as he walked in.
Sam sighed and just followed Dean, not wanting to awkwardly wait outside the store by himself.
You walked through the aisles and looked at the mannequins and saw a few lace bras that you thought looked comfortable. Grabbing a few, you turned around and saw to your surprise that your brothers had followed you in there.
“Sheesh, how many bras does a girl need?” Dean joked around looking around.
“However many she wants.” You said, not letting your awkward older brothers embarrass you. “I’m gonna go try a few things on.” You motioned to the fitting rooms.
Dean continued to walk around with a very uncomfortable Sam following closely behind. He started looking through the drawers and found a bra with spikes on it, Dean grabbed it and put it around his chest.
“Like what you see, Sammy?” Dean joked.
“Can you put that down.” Sam whispered as he saw a few stares.
“Guess not.” Dean laughed. Once you came out of the fitting room you looked around for a while. Dean showed you his cool find.
“You should get this one, Y/N.” Dean suggested sarcastically.
“Looks like something you'd find at hot topic.” You laughed. Sam rolled his eyes.
Dean started trying on more stuff that was within reach. “Hey I didn't know they sold more stuff besides underwear here.” He said as he put on a pair of girly sunglasses.
“I can't take you anymore.” Sam told Dean as he walked out swiftly.
“What’s up with him?” You asked.
“Who knows. Probably crabby that I dragged him in here. Anyway, you almost done? I kinda wanna get back.” Dean looked at his watch.
“Yeah, and so much for getting you two out of the house.” You laughed as you turned to go wait in line.
....................
You walked out of the store with your bags in your hands. “You ready to go?”
“Yes.” Sam said abruptly.
“Aw, do you feel all awkward?” You teased him.
“No, just wanna get back.” Sam lied. You and Dean looked at each other and silently laughed to one another.
Who knew shopping with your brothers would take so much energy, and embarrassment on Sam’s end.
You drove home since it was your idea to go out. Dean rarely let you drive baby, but he was in a good mood and made an exception. Dean adjusted his long limbs in the back seat, trying to get comfortable.
“So, with what you just bought, who are you planning to wear all that for.....” Dean spoke up.
“Myself actually, if you should be so nosy.” Rolling your eyes at Dean’s overprotective ways.
“It better be for yourself....” Dean trailed off with sarcasm.
“Shut up, Dean. They're just clothes. Can’t a girl feel good for once, it’s not that often I go shopping.” You retorted.
“Whatever you say.” Dean said.
You let out a sigh as you kept your eyes on the road. You hoped to Chuck that you could get out by yourself sooner or later. These brothers of yours could be too much at times, but damn you were grateful for them either way. No matter how dorky they were....

You loved your apartment you had together, you really did. It was cute and cozy, decorated in cool sky blues and pretty white accents. Your couch was lush and cushioned, as well as your bed and all your little bar stools that lined your kitchen nook. Four stools -because there was a time where you were expecting guests.
But that didn’t matter anymore, you weren’t concerned with other people anyway. You could barely remember a time when you could connect with anyone outside of Yoongi. The memories you did have were hazy and dark, you had a feeling that they weren’t things you needed to shine a light on. They seemed so out of place with how things felt now.
Similarly, there was one thing in your shared apartment that felt out of place. It was something of Yoongi’s from his past. He insisted on keeping it out in the open, right on the coffee table so it’s allure could distract you from your shows. It was an old hourglass. The glass was cloudy, and oxidized copper turned the spokes a textured sea green. It was large, and full of black sand that he told you was volcanic. The strangest part about it was that it was so old that it didn’t work anymore. He told you the sand must have sat too long and hardened. That didn’t sound possible to you, but you couldn’t argue with the results. It stood smack dab in the center of your white coffee table, the portions of black sand evenly distributed inside of each glass bubble. You knew it was important to him, some huge part of his history that he wouldn’t elaborate on. But most days to you -it was just an eye sore.
Some nights when it was really quiet, you swore you could hear it humming before a single drop of sand would fall.
It was rare that anything new would happen in your shared apartment, most days kept the same mindless routine. But tonight you felt particularly hungry for something different. You were out of ideas and inspiration; as usual, but you had a few tricks in finding it again. On nights like these you liked to hang over your balcony ledge and wait for something to strike you.
You watched the city lights and the busy cars rushing by. They looked like little toy cars in the distance, all lit up and full of so much urgency that they made your head spin. You figured your own car must have collected dust by now. Maybe the gas had expired and corroded some tricky little fuel lines, or maybe it had been so long that your seat cushions were sprouting daisies. You wished you could check, but the notion was silly. Yoongi would say something like “Why check on something you never need to use?” Or “We can’t go look even if we wanted to, you know that.” And he would be right. Ever since the front door disappeared there was no way to leave.. -Not that you even wanted to, you had everything you needed here in your cozy sky blue apartment. A fridge that stocked itself, a warm bed, hot water, and your carefree boyfriend to spend all this time with. It was surreal that this was how your life had been for as long as you could grasp, or maybe it was surreal that there was ever a time before this.
 But something about the noise from up there was mesmerizing to you. It made you feel less… trapped.
You felt trapped; somewhere deep down, but you also had this overwhelming feeling of never wanting to leave. Of just wanting to live out the rest of your days in Yoongi’s arms, all cooped up in your cozy little apartment that had two too many stools and a broken hourglass.
 Thinking about it, you remembered that the clock’s never worked right either. You had one that sat above the stove in your kitchen; nothing special, but it was big enough that you could see it from most places in the open apartment. Sometimes you would sit and count the seconds as you watched them tick; because you had more than enough time to be counting seconds, but they never ticked on time. Sometimes they were four seconds off, sometimes seven, other times they ticked backwards or sometimes not at all. You just wanted one clock that could work properly, but Yoongi always said they were useless when you had no schedules to stick to. He was right, but you still wanted a way to keep track of the days, the months, the years. You had no idea how long it had been. It was long enough that anything that happened before felt detached, but not long enough for you to have aged. Or to have gone mad..
You sighed as you watched the little people off in the distance and how they lived their lives so far away from you. You wondered how exciting their lives were out there, and what kinds of places that must be traveling to. Shopping malls, and coffee shops, office buildings and movie theaters. Those things all felt almost imaginary to you know.
You started to hear a rustling behind you. You smiled to yourself, you were wondering where he had been. There were only three rooms in your world after all, it was hard not to always bump into each other.
He walked up behind you like he often had on nights likes these, and he wrapped his warm arms around you. You relaxed into his embrace, any tenseness and worries you were feeling before melting away like butter in his arms. He kept you close to his chest, his lips starting to leave light kisses and goosebumps along the gentle curve of  your neck.
You felt enveloped by him, his scent of lavender and cedarwood filling the air around you. You pressed yourself back further into him, pushing yourself off of the ledge. He grasped his hands around your hips, leaning up to kiss at the spot behind your ear.
"Do you want to go back inside?" He questioned, and you turned to nuzzle your nose into his neck. You hummed there, thinking about it a little longer. You hadn’t been struck with your new idea yet..
“Hmm.. Not yet.” You focused on the way his chest rose and fell behind you. Slow and gradual, and you could feel his steady pulse against your lips.
“Do you want me to stay? Or am I distracting.” He pulled you in a little tighter when he said that, and he caught the lob of your ear lightly between his teeth before he pulled. You hummed again, very much enjoying the feeling of having him wrapped around you like this. His lips turning soft against your skin. You pressed your hips back into him; just to check something. You chuckled before you replied.
“You are distracting -But I don’t want you to leave. Maybe you can help me?” He was no fool to what you were doing, or to the light playfulness in your voice. He gripped his hands around your hips and pulled your closer, digging his own hips into your back side.
“Help with what? Baby.” His voice was gruff against your ear now, it made you shiver in his clutches. You hummed once more, fighting to keep your mind on track and to not think about how nice his member felt stiffening against your ass.
“I’m not sure what we should eat tonight.”
“I can think of a few things.”  You giggled at the suggestiveness in his voice, turning around to peck him on the cheek and to scurry your way back inside. The surprised look in his eyes was heartwarming, there was just that little twinge of disappointment that you’d gotten away from him so soon. He shook his head a little, moving his soft black hair out of his eyes.
“I’m serious! I’m tired of eating the same old things, I wanna try something new!” You skipped up into your kitchen as you yelled back to him, knowing full well that he would follow you.
“Like what?” He asked, stopping half way into the living room, between the couch, and the hourglass.
“I’m not sure.. That's what I need your help for.” You gleamed, stepping across the tiles to spin your stools out of restlessness.
“Well.. Lets see.” He thought aloud as he sat himself down, staring into the murky glass as he searched for an idea. “What do we have to work with?”
“It seems like I eventually find everything I ever need.. So.. I guess the options are endless!” You chimed, moving to rummage through your cabinets.
“I’m not sure if I remember any dishes you don’t already make..” You frowned at that. That's what you were afraid of, it was an excuse he had for a lot of things. But you understood because you were beginning to feel the same way.
“Really?? Didn’t you use to travel a lot? You must know so many more things I could try than I do." He scrunched his brows, his eyes falling back on that old hourglass again.
“Yeah but.. That was a long time ago, I don’t remember." He paused, turning back to you with a sparkle in his eyes. "Why don’t you make that fancy pasta of yours and we’ll add something new?” you lent him a weak smile, not wanting to dampen his excitement even though his idea wasn't exactly what you were looking for.. And you knew where this was going.
“New like what?” He paused again, his eyes going wide as he tried to recall something from the back of his mind.
“I'm not sure, calamari?” You hummed and nodded at his idea as you watched him slowly racking his brain.
“I’ve done that.” It hurt a little to give him the bad news, but it was true. You'd made pasta with calamari within the last few weeks.
“What about shrimp?” You nodded along again this time before u sent the blow.
“I’ve done that too.” His eyebrows furrowed, and you knew he was trying so hard to think of something fresh and new. It wasn't his fault he couldn't remember, you knew that. You turned away, walking up to dig through your fridge. Sometimes inspiration came to you in there, especially if you opened and closed it enough times..
“Broccoli?” You sighed, spotting the broccoli tucked away in the vegetable crisper just as he said it. “That too..” You were thinking about giving up and just making something you always make when he popped up beside you suddenly and slammed his hands on the counter like he'd just thought of the best thing.
“What about… all together? Have you tried that yet?” You stopped, turning back to him with the chill of the refrigerator still cooling the room.
“I haven't, do you think that would be good?” His smile was warm and confident as he looked at you. It was calming, just as his presence always was.
“I think anything you ever cook is good baby, but let me know if you want an assistant. You know I’m always here for you.”
~~
The pasta turned out alright, just like he said. It was ready, but he had gone missing again like he sometimes did. It was strangely endearing that he could always find a quiet place to himself in such a small space. You called for him with little luck, so you started to look for him. There were only two other rooms so there weren’t many places for him to be hiding, but somehow he stumped you every time.
You started your way down the narrow hallway, your old hall light flickering above you. You were headed towards your bedroom door on the right when you noticed something strange you didn’t remember being there. Another door? This one on the left side just adjacent to your bedroom. You swore that wasn’t there.. You had no broom closets, and the bathroom’s only entrance was through the bedroom. This was.. New. Even though it looked very old. Cracked and missing paint setting it in high contrast against the rest of your apartment. There was no way it was something you could have just overlooked. It was.. strange, and you felt your heart beginning to race as you came closer to it. Had your memory really gotten so bad that you’d forgotten a whole other room..? You were beginning to not trust yourself.. To not trust your reality. Something had always seemed unusual here but Yoongi could always calm those thoughts away from you.. But Yoongi wasn’t here.
You pressed your ear to the misplaced door; timidly, seeing if you could hear anything on the other side. Maybe it held a water heater? Or the electrical system? You thought, pulling strings to just make sense of it. You heard a clicking inside, and some very faint humming. Neither of which calmed your nerves.
“Yoongi..!?” You called again, hoping that he could hear you from wherever he was and that he could come calm your racing heart, and maybe inform you on what you had forgotten.
“I’m in here! -The door is open!” He answered finally, but his answer didn’t help you any. His voice sounded from inside the room and it only made you feel more out of your wits.
You fought with your anxieties as you slowly placed your hand around the rusty door knob. It was hot to the touch.. You turned it; slowly, peering inside the room to look for traces of him.
It was dark inside, that hum growing louder now that the door couldn’t keep it contained. Your eyes grew wide as you tried to adjust them to the darkness.
“Yoongi?..” You could see piles of books littered around the room, and old computer parts. Dusty equipment and piles of old trinkets you could barely identify. Everything seemed to be painted in a thick layer of dust, dirty cobwebs connecting each pile to another. The smell was.. Old, stale. Like the room hadn't seen fresh air in millennia. But despite all you could see in the room, you hadn’t seen him yet.
“Over here!” You heard him, his warm voice slowing your heart rate; if even just a little, as you darted your eyes along the darkness in search of him. There was something large and black at the end of the room, textured and bumpy. You traced your eyes up from the bottom of it, following along with how the light hit it from behind. On your way up you saw big black feathers, hundreds of them, old but beautiful. And then they moved.. Flexing straight out to the sides like something worrisome preparing for flight. You began to tremble but you couldn’t pull your eyes away, you kept them on their slow path up reaching features that startled you. It’s face.. You knew that face; you loved that face. But it was corrupted here, scaled and frightening with gleaming diamond blue eyes. It smiled at you and you recognized that look and the love in those icy eyes.
You screamed. You didn’t understand, you couldn’t. You needed things to halt, to stop. You remembered you had seen him like that before.. Maybe often.. Maybe he always looked like that.
Yoongi.
You turned away from the room, slamming the door and pressing your back against it.
You..
What were you doing?
“Looking for Yoongi.” You thought. You saw your bedroom door in front of you and you walked up and opened it not even questioning why your heart was racing so hard. You flipped the light switch on and peered around in search of him, to no avail. A moment later he startled you, coming up and hugging you from behind.
“Hey, is dinner done already? I could have helped.” You shivered, spinning around with a sudden urge to see his face. His kind brown eyes greeted you, his sweet smile proving contagious.
“It was just pasta, and it's not like I was making it from scratch.” You hugged him, resting your cheek on his shoulder and feeling your heart calm to its usual speed.
“Have you tried that yet? Maybe that could be something fun we could try together next time.” You blinked, looking up at him in surprise.
“..I haven’t. I love that idea though, but I’m not sure I know how-”
“I’m sure I have a cookbook that will tell us somewhere. Wanna try it tomorrow? We could make lasagna.” You giggled, basking in his enthusiasm.
“It’s a date.” A date, you had forgotten about those until you said it. Was anything in this apartment ever really a date when you could never leave..? You reached something deep in your mind then, the taste of rich aged wine, the taste of cream and sugar, laughter..  Images of unspeakable things. Things that excited you. He noticed the change in your demeanor; you could tell when something moved behind his eyes, but he hid it well.
“A date. -Hey.. I know you’ve seemed a little restless lately, why don’t we try something different?” You stepped back from him to get a good read on his face, your head tilting to the side.
“What do you mean?” He smirked at you.
“I have an idea, I’ll show you after dinner.”
~~
He didn’t want you to know what he had planned yet. He kissed you sweetly after dinner, spinning in his stool and scurrying over to your small wine case. He grabbed a bottle; one he had been saving, along with two glasses before he dashed down the hall into your shared bedroom. A quick shout of “Don’t peek till it's ready!! And don’t worry about the dishes!” before he was out of sight.
You felt a little lost now, impatient with nothing to hold your focus. You spun around to look over at your balcony again, the white curtains fluttering in the wind. It was picking up, the doors starting to flex and sway back and forth. You stared at them a good while before you decided it might be time to shut them for the night. You made it over to close them softly, giving a quiet “goodnight” to the outside world before you shut your curtains.
He startled you again, this time you didn’t even hear him before his hand was pulling yours to follow him through the apartment and back down the hall. He was in such a hurry and it was unusual for him, but this kind of spontaneity was what you felt like you were missing. He dragged you through the bedroom, a giddiness in his stature. He rounded you past the bed and led you to face the closed door of your bathroom. You giggled.
“What did you do?”
“Hush, you’ll see. One things first though.”
“Hmm?”
He grazed his hands against your waist, pulling your shirt up enough for you to get the hint. You reached to lift the flimsy fabric up and over your head, and he  gently fisted your hair in his hand to help you get it out of the way. He released his fist, letting your hair fall messely over your bare shoulders. You heard him fiddling to throw his own shirt over his head from behind you, he was fast and it was no time before his hands were back around your waist, lowering their way down to your hips where he tucked his thumbs under the waistband. He released a hand from the task, bringing the free one up to rub along your stomach and up over your ribs. He glided it up until the tips of his fingers were teasing under your bra. He leaned down to kiss your neck again like he did before, only this time there was no escaping the heat he made you feel.
 “I think you’ll like the surprise, It’s nothing special but.-”
“-I’m assuming there’s warm water and us both naked involved, I’m pretty sure I’ll love it.” You teased, hastily working to pull the rest of your clothes off faster than he was going. Despite your wiggling to get your pants all the way off of your ankles, he still had his hands all over you. And once you were up right again he was already pulling you back into his bare chest. You wrapped your arms loosely over his shoulder as his hands coyly wandered down to rest on your ass. You smirked at his behavior, pushing away from him to finally work his pants down since he was stalling. He grinned, taken a little off guard, but he complied when you needed him too.
He kicked them over, finally, and then for the second time that night he did something you weren’t expecting. He spun you around, pressing you tits first against the closed door. You gasped at the sudden cold against your nipples, and then groaned when you felt him grind his hips hard against your ass. He kept a hand on your hip, pulling them back so your ass remained up in the air where he wanted it. You braced your hands on the door, shivering when you felt his nails lightly tracing the curve of your spine. You could feel his length hard between your thighs as he dug his hips into you, and then he curled over to kiss at your shoulders, brushing your hair out of the way as he did so.
“-I want you wet before I dip you in the water.” He whispered, his voice sinful against your spine.  He traced his other hand back around your waist and down your abdomen, he twisted his wrist and curled his fingers against your heat. He spread your lower lips with his pointer and middle fingers, sliding them back and slowly dipping the tips shallowly into your entrance.
“I’m there-” You gasped.
“Yeah you are..” He pushed both fingers all the way in as he spoke, pressing the heel of his hand against your heat as your mouth opened wide in a sigh. The hand around your hip reached around to squeeze the tender flesh of your ass and you could feel yourself clenching hard around his fingers. He chuckled before he pulled them out and stepped back to give you room to breath.
“You can peek now.” You paused a moment to collect yourself before slowly opening the door.
It was warm and welcoming inside the bathroom, golden candlelight flickering and casting a subtle glow around the whole room and the white tile from every corner. You smiled at the two glasses of wine he had placed on the porcelain edge of the tub, one glass already half empty.
The tub was full, a thick layer of sudds coating the surface with steam you could see coming up from where you were standing. He passed you, patting your shoulder before he walked up to place himself in the water. You watch him as he lowered himself, there was a shadow larger than him that followed. Two great fluttering masses that shifted and flickered in the candle light. He locked eyes with you, tilting his head in a question.
“Are you coming?”
“Um -Of course.” You shook it off, bounding over to test the water. He watched you curiously with his back against the porcelain, you dipping your fingers in to make sure it wasn't too hot. -And it wasn’t, just somewhere in between warm and scalding. You stepped in slowly, turning your back to him. He reached his hands up to grasp your hips out of instinct, helping you lower in and rest yourself against his steaming chest. Your hips nestled between his legs. You sighed, allowing all of your inhibitions to wash away in the water. He brushed your hair aside, hot water sliding off his arms and against your skin as he handed you a glass of wine. You took the glass from him, watching his hands as they moved in front of you. He took his own glass and brought his other arm hot across your shoulders.
“We should make a toast.”
“To what?” You questioned.
“.. To longer days, and new ideas.” You smiled and scrunched your nose up at his toast, clinking your glass with his. “And lots of wine.” You added, taking a sip from your glass. It tasted rich and full, but there was something very familiar about it. You glanced over the side of the tub in search of the bottle. You picked it up to read the label after setting your glass back down on the edge. Laveyan vineyards.
“This is the stuff you’ve been saving, right?” He hummed, the vibrations penetrating through you and making you shiver.
“Yeah, it's from an old friend. I thought it was finally time..” You gleamed, feeling honored he would crack something open from so long ago just because you had been feeling stuck. “Do you like it?" You took another sip, slower and more this time. “Yeah, something about it is really unique.” Or maybe it was just such a contrast to the same old brand you had usually been drinking from, you weren’t sure.
You continued taking slow slips of wine, letting the subtle haze fill your senses while his hands slowly roamed your body. He liked to take his time in everything, making sure to graze his fingertips along every inch of your body. Down your arms, and between your fingers, and then back up and along your collar bones. His hands stayed so hot in contrast to the cold air as it battled to suck away the warmth on your skin. You shivered when he dipped his fingers between your breasts and along your sternum. You watched him graze his knuckles against your ribs, making little thumps and waves in the water with every pass. And then he was gliding them back up to tickle along the underside of your breasts. You sighed, leaning up into his touch just hoping he would speed up a little. He chuckled at your desperation, kissing the side of your head before his hand dipped below the surface. You flinched when he suddenly grabbed your thigh, and flinched again when you heard him slamming his glass down on the edge of the tub. He grabbed you around the shoulders firmly this time, his arm like hot steel. You could feel his breath on your neck as you stretched it back for him, and your eyes started to roll back when you felt his sharp teeth grave against your skin. You shivered under the weight of him, the shadows in the room growing along with your anticipation. The shadows felt like eyes on you, and you were thrumming under them. You skin alight, your legs trembling. He had distracted you fully with his teeth and then his lips, you’d forgotten the hand he left idly around your thigh. His hand moved, and then his fingers curled back against your heat just as his breathy lips reached your ear.
“Should I make you wait?” He teased, his hand reaching up to grip hot digits around your jaw. He tilted your head to the side more, and sucked sloppy kisses into your pulse point. You melted into him, moaning as you felt his fingers dip easily inside of you. He dipped them in slowly, letting you really enjoy the stretch as the feeling melded with the sensation he was giving you on your neck. He sucked hard, grazing his tongue against the skin before he would dig his sharp teeth in. He had your head spinning already, and the steam and wine were only helping your dazed state. You’d forgotten he asked you something entirely when he curled his fingers up inside of you, the pads of them grazing that spongy spot inside of you that made you see stars. He barely moved them, lightly rubbing his fingertips back and forth and holding you as you started to sigh and tremble.
“How long do you think you’ll last?” His lips vibrated against your skin as he spoke, but you didn’t have an answer. He added more pressure on that spot inside of you, angling his fingers away to the point where you could feel the hot water starting to mix with your slick as it entered you. He released your jaw to grope at your breasts again, and you head fell back to dribble against his shoulder. You wanted him to do more, to move more, to fuck you with his fingers like it was a competition. But this slow languid pace was something he was an expert at, speeding to the finish line would be so much less fun. Besides, you loved it when he toyed with you like this, when he touched and teased you for hours until all of your senses were screaming, and every touch was fire. The orgasms he could give you.. They would rip right through you, and they lasted so long. You could feel them start, could feel time slowing as every muscle in your body tensed up and sent shock waves against your skin. One by one, you could almost count the muscles clenching if you weren’t too dazed in ecstasy to think.
He uncurled his fingers, sinking them back inside you to the knuckles where he rested them. You huffed, rolling your head over to hide your face in his neck. He chuckles again, the soft sound bouncing against the walls before he pulled his fingers from you entirely. He tipped your face up to press his lips against your own. You could taste the wine on him, the scent of lavender still heavy on his skin. You reached up to cup his face as he kissed you, moving it shortly to thread into his hair. He licked your lips, testing his teeth against them before slipping his tongue into your mouth. You hummed into him, sliding your silken muscle against his own. You felt him sigh into you, a gasp leaving his lips as your tongue tickled his inner cheek. He grew hungrier as he continued, gradually leaning into you and kissing you as deeply as he could at such a tight angle.
You could feel his cock twitching against your back now, it pulsed thickly behind you. You were trying not to think so much about it being so close because thinking about it only ever made it harder for you to be patient.
Thankfully tonight he had other plans -mid kiss he gripped both hands around your hips and lifted you up. You gasped into his mouth, flailing your hands out to catch the sides of the tub. You felt your hand tipping your glass over before you could stop yourself, you heard it shatter on the floor but neither of you let that stop you, his lips now locked against your shoulders. You felt him letting one of your hips go to reach down up under you now that you could help with your balance. He started to line himself up with your entrance, letting himself go and helping you to ease down onto him. You sunk down slowly, the water making waves that kissed against your thighs from all the movement. You could sink down fast, but he had you trained so well, you knew he would stop you. His strong hands would be holding you back; hell, he might have even pulled himself out and made you wait longer. You only lowered yourself down as quickly as he would allow, his strong arms still keeping you steady.
The stretch was almost painful, the blunt head of his cock pushing stiffly into you. The water helped, it eased the slight burn that every new inch deeper he entered you would bring. You hissed, angling your hips when you felt the head of his cock slide past that spot inside of you. He started to groan, a low sound that shook the air. You parted your lips and let your head fall back, just enjoying the moment.
He pulled you down harder once you were reaching closer to his base, and then he thrust into you hard. You were so unbelievable full of him, his cock wholey nestled and pressing against every soft spot inside of you, his head pressed flush against your cervix. Your walls were fluttering and squelching, struggling to hold his full girth.
“Lean back baby.” His voice was strained as he spoke, but he kept the pitch steady. You leaned back, trying to relax your shoulders against his chest and the cold rim of the tub. You were already gasping in rhythm with the waves, and your clenching cunt.
He lifted your hips back up, keeping your weight tilted back at your shoulders. You groaned at the way he slipped half way out of you, your feet catching on the edges of the tub to help keep you from falling. He slapped his hips back into yours a moment later when you weren’t expecting it. You moaned and gripped the tub so hard your knuckles were turning white. Before you could catch a breath he was slamming in and out of you again, the water splashing up around you and onto the floor with the force of his thrusts. He kept his pace steady, slamming his cock against that spot inside of you that made you shudder. You moaned and whined, his name on your lips. Sweet like the wine. You weren’t use to this from him, this force, this speed. You shivered thinking about how sweet and fresh he was being for you tonight.
You hung a leg over the ledge to giving him more leverage and an easier angle. He groaned, his pace gradually rising. You whimpered.
“Shit -s-shit.”
He grunted, his face falling forward as the feelings consumed him.
You felt the air growing warmer, smelt something like sulfur sneaking its way into the sweetened aroma. You focused on keeping your eyes open, watching the water as it splashed, watching Yoongi’s hips moving up from beneath you. You noticed those shadows again, the twin black masses from before.  They started to span out around you, the one against the wall stretching forward. For a moment it grew crisper, jagged and smooth around its many edges. The one that crept around your left side fluttered before you, stretching and curling above you as the other strained itself against the wall, pushing the now unlit candles that sat against the edge into the water. It beat itself against the wall, like it was struggling in rhythm with Yoongi’s thrusts.
You weren’t scared.. A part of you knew that they had always been there. The shadows at Yoongi’s back.
His pace started to waver as he was losing himself. He was close, and so were you. You closed your eyes again, feeling smooth feathers as they tickled your skin, his sharp nails as they dug deep into your thighs. And finally that cord inside of you snapped. You moaned out, your voice pitching higher and cracking at its peak. Each wave of pleasure hit with a lead weight, threatening to consume you fully with every pass. You felt him Struggling to fuck up into you, struggling to keep you at the right angle. You used what little leverage you had to bounce yourself against him, feeling his cum starting to coat your plush walls. Every sound that escaped his lips was something beautiful, something you would treasure as long as you could.
He slowed, finally, near dropping you as he felt exhaustion taking over. You sighed, basking in the afterglow. You could still see his wings, and you were happy this time. They were beautiful and intricate, shinny from the water. You reached out to touch one of them hoping for once that this was real. The feathers quivered against your fingertips.
“Y/n?” He sounded startled, his voice still raspy and low. “Can you see them?..” His arms wrapped around you again as you ran a finger against the edge of one of the feathers.
“Yeah.. “ It swayed then, bending and flexing inward before fluttering in around you. You felt his head drop against your shoulder just as you felt his wings tighten around the both of you. You felt so safe in his embrace, loved. But you remembered something else, something that jolted you back up. The wings parted way for you quickly, disappearing back into the shadows as smoothly as they came.
You had to check before you forgot again.
You rushed out of the tub, paying little attention to the glass on the floor. You felt sharp cuts blooming on your soles but they only made you move faster. You snatched your robe off the door and ran as quick as you could down the hall. That strange door on the left was there.. But what about the front door?
You heard him shouting after you, heard the water as he rushed out of the bath to follow you. But he wasn’t quick enough, you made it. Just in front of the front door you thought for so long wasn’t there. It was just a lie, a glamour. This whole time you could have walked right out and you never knew.
“Y/n! Wait!” Your hand was already on the knob, your other holding your robe closed. You looked back at him with shock in your eyes. Before you stood the creature from before, the one with the diamond eyes and the face you loved.
“Y/n.. if you leave I’ll never see you again.” You felt the pain in his voice and the weight of his words. But the exit you had been longing for was right there.
“Come with me?” You pleaded, you wanted so badly for him to come. You weren’t sure what he was; you were barely sure who he was, but you knew his heart and you wanted him to escape this place just as much as you wanted to leave it.
“I can’t” He sounded so defeated as he stepped forward, the dark image of him fading and revealing the man you were use to.
“What- why? The door is right here Yoongi! Let's leave this place! We can go anywhere we want!” You fought him, your hand still firmly gripped around the door handle because you were scared if it wasn’t it would disappear again. You reached your other hand to him, but he wouldn’t take it.
“I can’t y/n. The door isn’t there for me, I can’t see it.. It’s just a wall, it's always only been a wall.”
“If it's just a wall then how did I get here? How did we meet?” He shook his head, shivering and then glancing back to his hourglass.
“I can’t remember.” He turned back. “And I can’t make you stay-”
“I’ll come back for you.” You stated, and a timid smile greeted you. “I’ll bring the whole building down if I have to.” He only nodded, turning his gaze to the floor.
“Yeah.. I’ll be here.” You huffed, grabbing him by the hand and pulling him closer so that you could peck him on the lips. You weren’t going to make this a goodbye, because it wasn’t.
You opened the door quickly and stepped out, letting it close quietly behind you.
You..
What were you doing?

Can you write a Becca x mc fanfic about Becca having a amnesia after the accident and not remembering falling in love with mc ? And it would be interesting to see Becca still trying to flirt with Chris among other guys and MC getting all jealous and trying to make Becca fall in love with her again 🤣 you can also turn it into a series I think it might be long if you chose to write it
hi, anon! i love all the angst in this idea, so thanks for sending it my way. also, i don’t know if what i wrote is exactly what you wanted. it does check a lot of the boxes, but i think it might be a bit angstier than you were asking for, so i hope that’s okay. it kinda just happened.

Alex has found coping with the last four months easier when she doesn’t think too much about it. she thinks about the events that happened, acknowledges their existence, but refuses to go any deeper than that. it’s easier that way.
“have you talked to someone about it?” Abbie asks as they’re walking to the library. one afternoon “a therapist, maybe?”
“my parents suggested it. but, i dunno, it just feels weird,” Alex says.
“that’s fine, but just make sure you aren’t keeping everything bottled up. even writing stuff down might help.”
Alex smiles, though it doesn’t reach her eyes. “i’ll give it a go.” she won’t. “thanks.”
they step into the library and find an empty table along one of the walls.
“how is she?” Abbie asks once they’re both settled in.
Alex feels the question pierce her in the heart. “don’t know,” she says quick and empty, making an effort to keep her gaze fixed on the work in front of her.
“she hasn’t reached out to you?”
“no.”
“Alex...” Abbie’s voice is sympathetic as she reaches across the table to place her hand on Alex’s.
Alex pulls away. “it’s fine, Abbie. can we just-- i’d really appreciate it if we didn’t talk about that.”
“of course.”
and Abbie, true to her word, doesn’t bring it up again. they work in a steady silence for most of the afternoon, only parting when the call for food becomes too great.
“are you sure you don’t want to come over for dinner. i know Kaitlyn’s free tonight; we could have a girls’ night.”
“it’s fine. i’d rather try get an early night. thanks though.”
“anytime.”
Alex dreads the idea of being in her apartment alone, but she also knows that she wouldn’t be able to have a girls’ night and pretend that everything’s fine.
she steps onto her floor and doesn’t notice the person standing by her door until she’s only six or seven feet away. her stomach twists itself into knots and her heart thumps dangerously against her ribcage.
“good, you’re home. i was just about to text you,” Becca says.
Alex feels a slither of hope creep into her heart. hope that Becca remembers. hope that they can go back to what they used to be. hope that they can continue to build their life together.
“i found some stuff while i was moving that i think is yours.” Becca picks up a box Alex had completely missed. “Chris mentioned that you don’t have classes this afternoon, so i figured i’d drop them off.”
“oh. that’s um, that’s really nice of you.” Alex takes the box from Becca’s hands. “how are you?”
“fine. the pain’s gone now, so my doctor cleared me to return to normal activity.”
Alex nods and fishes her keys from her pocket. “so you don’t, like, remember anything then?” she tries to be nonchalant as she speaks, though she can tell from the way Becca pauses and looks at her, that any attempt at nonchalance fails.
“the doctor said i might not,” Becca says a moment later, her voice distant. “it’ll be easier if we can both accept that sooner rather than later.”
“i know,” Alex says, turning the key in the lock. “i’ll see you ‘round?”
“maybe not. it might be better if we stayed apart.”
“oh.”
“yeah.” Becca shifts her weight between her feet and looks around the bland and empty hallway they’re standing in. “goodbye, Alex.” she turns on her heels and leaves.
Alex listens to Becca’s footfalls fade as she gets further and further away. an i love you dies on her tongue.
-
it’s five months later when Alex sees Becca again. okay, that’s not totally true. Alex has seen glimpses of Beeca around campus in that time—apparently, her and Chris are close again. Alex decides not to think about what that means. but it’s five months after that conversation in front of Alex’s apartment that they’re in close proximity again.
she’s at a club. Kaitlyn and Abbie had dragged her out.
“just for some fun,” Kaitlyn had said.
“you’ve been cooped up in your apartment every night for months. getting out might do you some good,” Abbie had explained.
and Alex hadn’t had the energy to fight them. so now she’s here. in some club with sticky floors, flashing lights, and music that makes her bones shake. they snagged a booth along the back wall, and it was all going fine. they were talking, laughing, having a fun night, and then Alex had glanced to her right and caught a glimpse of Becca and Chris dancing.
“i’m getting a drink,” Alex says, getting up from the booth without waiting for some kind of answer. she pushes her way through the thick crowd and makes her way to the bar, returning to the booth a few minutes later with five shots of tequila on a tray.
“i dunno if i wanna do shots tonight,” Kaitlyn says as she eyes the tray Alex places on the table.
“good, because these are for me.” and then Alex downs each of the shots.
“maybe ease up a bit,” Abbie says. “it’s still early.”
Alex shrugs and disappears to the dance floor. Kaitlyn and Abbie share a concerned look before following after their friend.
Alex tries to forget about Becca. she really does. but it’s hard to do that when she keeps catching glimpses of Becca dancing with Chris. it’s when she sees Becca lean in close to whisper something in a Chris’ ear that Alex turns back to Kaitlyn and Abbie, and says, “i can’t do this,” and then runs out of the club.
she runs and runs and can hear Kaitlyn and Abbie chasing after her, calling for her to stop. she finally does when she’s a few blocks away from the club.
“what happened in there?” Kaitlyn says, placing a hand on Alex’s shoulder.
“i saw her. she’s in there dancing with Chris. Chris. and i know i don’t have any right to be pissed or upset, because we aren’t together, and as far as she can remember, we never were together. but i am pissed and i really just want...” Alex trails off and very nearly collapses on the ground.
“want what?” Abbie says.
“her,” Alex says, voice broken and tears in her eyes. “this was a mistake. i shouldn’t have come out tonight.”
when Alex gets home, she crashes into bed and falls into a restless sleep.
-
Alex closes herself off after that night at the club. she still calls her parents every week. tells them that she’s fine and she’s getting out regularly. she tells her friends that she’s fine, just a lot of assignments to get done. another lie, and a blatant one at that.
it’s a Wednesday night when another change comes. there’s a knock at her door and Alex glances to the clock on the oven. wonders who the hell is at her door at eight o’clock at night. she checks the peep hole and sighs when she sees that each of her friends are standing out in the hall. James and Zig, Kaitlyn and Zack, and Tyler and Abbie. everyone except Becca.
“we know you’re in there, Alex,” James says, not angry or disappointed, just careful and understanding.
“we got you some food,” Kaitlyn this time says, and she even holds up a takeout bag of chinese. she can also see Zig and Zack holding two bags of groceries each.
she lets them. Zig and Zack deposit the groceries in the kitchen and begin putting the food away, and everyone else crowds into the livingroom.
they talk for an hour. they all get up and say their piece, never accusing Alex of doing something wrong. and by the time nine o’clock rolls around, the chinese has been eaten and her friends have convinced Alex to go to dinner at Tyler and Abbie’s on Saturday night.
“Chris, can you hang back for a sec?” Alex says just as everyone is filing out.
Chris smiles and nods. the others leave and then it’s just them left standing in Alex’s too small livingroom. she has no idea what her plan is now that she’s alone with Chris. there’s stuff she wants to say, but she knows she has no real right to. that doesn’t stop her from asking one thing. “please don’t date her. i know you two dated and then i started dating her, so i really have no right to ask that of you. but please... don’t date her.”
Chris smiles, warm and sincere. “i wasn’t going to,” he says, and then he opens his arms for a hug.
Alex easily steps into the embrace and is so glad they stayed friends. they’re so much better as friends.
“we’re only friends,” he says. “she’s just confused about everything and needs someone to talk to. believe me, she’s hurting just as much as you, she’s just doesn’t know it.”
Alex pulls away from the hug and offers Chris a genuine smile as she wipes away the tears she didn’t realise were pooling around her eyes.
“she’s your girl, Alex.”
“no she’s not.” that nearly kills Alex to say, but it’s the truth. the sooner she accepts that, the better. “but thanks anyway.”
-
Alex doesn’t know why she’s surprised to see Becca at dinner on Saturday night. she’s their friend. it’s good that she came, and it makes Alex smile knowing that Becca hasn’t been totally alone through all of this.
it’s awkward at first. they wind up in the kitchen together, alone, when Abbie ducks out quickly to use the bathroom. they just make small talk until Abbie comes back, and Alex hates that this is what their relationship has been reduced to.
they don’t sit together for dinner though, and Alex counts that as both a blessing and a curse. because she knows that had things been different, they’d have sat beside each other, Alex’s arm thrown over the back of Becca’s chair, and Becca’s hand resting on Alex’s thigh.
and then the night just sort of ends. people leave in pairs or groups of threes, and perhaps by some strange bout of luck, Alex and Becca leave together. it’s completely unintentional, and from the looks Tyler and Abbie are giving her, Alex knows that all she’d have to do is ask, and one of them would walk out with them.
but she doesn’t ask. she doesn’t need to. she’s an adult. she and Becca can ride the elevator to the ground floor and walk out of the building together.
neither of them say a single word for the whole elevator ride. it’s only when they’re standing out on the street, about to go their separate ways, that Becca says something. “kiss me.”
and Alex had absolutely not been expecting that. she stammers out a response: “what?”
“i know you heard me.”
“yeah, but, why?”
“because you love me. and i may not know why you do or how that even happened, but the point is that you do. so show me that you love me, and kiss me.”
Alex can’t really help herself, because Becca looks nothing short of stunning standing in the glow of the street light. and Becca’s asking her to. so she has permission. she’s allowed to kiss her. so she does.
it’s the same but it’s not the same. she tastes the same, smells the same, even kisses the same. but it’s not the same. it’s not the same because they don’t share those important memories--that first time in the sorority, the spring fling, their dates at Uskea, all the nights in each other’s rooms, the whole of last year. they don’t share any of that.
Alex breaks the kiss. “i’m sorry, i can’t. this— it wouldn’t be fair. for you or for me.” she turns away, ready to leave and salvage whatever she can of herself when she gets home.
and then Becca grabs her hand, pulls her back, and kisses her again. and it’s exactly the same as the kiss they just shared, and yet it’s so damn different. Becca’s kissing her like she's desperate, like she’s making up for lost time. then Becca slides her hands down Alex’s back and into the back pockets of her jeans to pull her a little bit closer.
Alex pulls away in surprise, because this is her Becca. the Becca who calls her a dork and a cheeseball, the Becca who slow dances with Alex in the kitchen, and the Becca who slides her hands into Alex’s back pockets when they kiss.
“why’d you pull away?” Becca says, like she’s oblivious to what just happened. but the smile on her face tells Alex that she knows.
“you remember.”
“of course, i remember. how could i not remember after a kiss like that?”
Alex launches herself at Becca and pulls her into a hug. “i love you so much.”
“i love you too.” Becca squeezes back just as tight.
“we have to tell the others,” Alex says, pulling away to look at Becca again. “they’ll be so happy that you remember.”
“i have a better idea. let’s have one last night where this” —Becca gestures to herself and Alex— “is just ours. no pressure or expectations from everyone else. it’s just you and me. what’d you say, for old times’ sake?”
Alex grabs Becca’s hand with a smile and leads her away.

pov u just shot your childhood hero, wdyd
i.e. i ramble about keiji post-shooting; his occupation, what he does, how he copes, how he feels, etc. etc.
just putting this little thing here because the post got quite long and i couldn't split it up because it's all somewhat related. it started out as a rant / informal ramble but then it got serious lololol
one thing i don't understand is why people hc keiji as still having a job with the police post-shooting? like that just doesn't make sense to me– not only based on his character but like... why would you wanna make him a cop with all the talk of how much the police suck lately? personally i'm a brown bitch so i couldn't be down with thirsting over a cop lol. it's just kinda confusing sjdhd
i've seen the hc of him as a private investigator, though, which i like! it's a very neat way to let him flex his detective skills without being part of a corrupt organization and without forsaking his own personal beliefs and feelings about the police, because i don't think those would change anywhere near easily and i just kinda can't see him going back into the police force because of that.
i have often wondered what keiji would do after the death game, and what he was doing before the death game or after the shooting, because i think he'd definitely quit after the shooting, with all the grief and trauma surrounding the job and his newfound cynicism.
i don't think he'd be doing private investigation before the game, or more specifically, before his character develops into something reminiscent of his old self– as he is at the start of the game, he just doesn't have that faith in protection, so i can't imagine him being an investigator at that point. HOWEVER, in a post death game OR non-death game au where keiji has started to pull himself up from that tar (most likely with the help of others lol) i think that's definitely a plausible option for him and i like it a lot :]
as for other options, though... i really don't know! this is more of a stupid idea but i considered him working in a convenience store like shin lol. i had a whoooole au about him, kai, and shin working in the same convenience store just because they can't hold down any other jobs / don't know what else to do for work. shin is able to actually hold down the job because the last manager was mysteriously taken out of commission (i don't know lol) and they were ridiculously short-staffed already so shin ended up being the "most qualified" for the now vacant position. keiji's had a string of odd jobs since the police and this is just the next one. he's hoping to find something with a better wage but this'll do for now, it's even in walking distance from his apartment. and kai, kai's trying to exercise more independence from the chidouins' after becoming his own person! so he gets what i think would be his first job (well, his first official job, anyway... being an assassin and the chidouins' personal maid were more unofficial gigs lol.) ahh that was a lotta rambling about my dumb little au but i just think it'd be neat, they're three of my favourite characters so having them just vibe with each other at work and become friends sounds nice 2 me :] also Coincidentally i ship literally every combination of those three characters so that may have played a part in my casting decisions lmfao
oh wow that was a really long and uncalled for synopsis but this is just a rambly post so it can't really be uncalled for because this post doesn't have any particular point lol (A/N after writing this— IT HAS A POINT NOW, DISREGARD PAST ME)
SO ANYWAY ! i was just considering what keiji would do right after the shooting. honestly i have noooo idea, it's the beginning of a long road of him burying his trauma in a desperate attempt to avoid facing the pain it brings, and it marks a profound loss of innocence which makes his heart begin to grow cold. it's just hard to see the beginning of the process when where he started and where he ended up are very different places.
obviously, he'd quit his job. i wonder if the hallucinations would start right away? him being naïve in the beginning, i'm sure he'd acknowledge them– cry out apologies and plead for forgiveness until his throat is hoarse. the rule of hallucinations in yttd seems to be that if you acknowledge them, they'll burn themselves into your brain and you'll never be rid of them– implying that keiji has done so, as it's likely been years since the shooting and he's still suffering from the visions despite seeming to ignore them now.
ahh, i'm getting in my feelings about keiji now 😭😭 when i started this, i wanted to be held by him, but now i just wanna hug him like damnnnn
but back to what he'd do after the shooting– this scenario is self indulgent, but wouldn't it be nice if he took some time off and just stayed at his mom's place for a while? help her with chores while she's at work, try to regain a sense of normalcy in his childhood home...
i don't think he'd be able to do this right after the shooting. keiji had shame, once upon a time– the guilt would rack him like nothing else. i can imagine him spending a lot of late nights with alcohol, just wishing it was a dream. his resentment towards megumi slowly building as he feels he's being left in the dark as to why, why he isn't allowed to atone, why she's being so cold towards him about the shooting when he's suffering so heavily from the effects of it.
he wouldn't want to be around his dear mom as a murderer, and as a resentful alcoholic who's coping very poorly with his circumstances.
also (tangent incoming), i kind of wonder about keiji and alcohol a lot. in his fondness events with mishima, he says the following—
Tumblr media
the "haven't drank that much in years" part makes me wonder– for how long? did he start to restrain himself before the shooting or after? i would say it's most likely after, considering the "feels like it'll swallow me up" comment he made soon after. and, how he talked about binge drinking when he was still a newbie. perhaps it was fine for him to do so, before the shooting— he'd just get wasted and flirt, have a good time. but after, it morphed into an inefficient coping mechanism which he fell far within the depths of to try and control the worst of his grief and self hatred. after that, heavy drinking couldn't just be for fun anymore.
Tumblr media
i assume in the "before it got this way" comment, the "way" he's referring to is how he doesn't drink much anymore? or, he could be talking about the depression drinking, but i think the prior makes more sense.
even though i think, given keiji's example of drinking with megumi, that he could have gotten blackout drunk a couple of times purely for fun pre-shooting, i think here he's referring to the painful side of his relationship with alcohol here, the part that took place when he was trying to cope with his trauma. i think he brings up the story of drinking with megumi immediately after, then, to avoid talking about that part of his past. though he doesn't show it much, i think he's deeply ashamed of himself. not only of what he's done, but how he's handled it afterwards.
on a lighter note, though, it's quite funny to think of Lawful Good young keiji shinogi getting drunk off his ass and flirting with every woman he comes across willing to flirt back. like, what's up with that??? he seems like such a serious dork in the flashbacks, but doing well in his police job, he just... lets loose?? no no, honestly i think he hadn't drank much before going out with megumi and he took her insistence on him drinking a little too far, and with his inexperience with alcohol and the successive lack of self restraint that comes with each new drink, you get casanova shinogi, lmao.
BACK TO THE SERIOUS STUFF THOUGH !! i really like the idea of him going to his mom to help him pull himself back together. i think they'd have a solid relationship, fight me! he seems to adore his mom as a child with a good single parent usually does. i'm sure he appreciates her immensely for all the care and love she managed to give him when he was a kid while also working her ass off to support them financially. this very respect for her is what i think would drive him to isolate himself from her after the shooting– as i said above, he's a murderer now. a disappointing human being in general, and an even worse son. to let down his mother who worked so hard to raise him right... how could he? as his condition worsens and his heart grows colder, i'm sure that feeling would fester inside of him. he'd try to ignore it, as he does with everything else, but it's already wrapped its tendrils around his soul. that particular guilt isn't leaving him any time soon.
now that i'm thinking about it, also, i don't think it's likely that he'd quit his job right right away. it'd be more of a slow descent over the span of a few weeks. immediately after the shooting, he may stop showing up to work for a while. he just can't put on that uniform when it's practically caked in the blood of someone he held in such high esteem for so long. eventually, though, he gets a hold on himself– just a bit. he doesn't want to be cooped up in his apartment with his thoughts anymore, and he doesn't want to lose his job. what else would he do?
so, he takes it easy on the first few days back. megumi tries to make it easy for him. paperwork, whatever job he could do that's not on the field. he clings to her like a wounded puppy, hoping that she'll explain why she's covering it up when he doesn't want her to, what he's supposed to do with these feelings around the incident. he's drowning, and she's made herself a big sister figure to him– she's supposed to help him. but, she shrugs him off when he brings it up. she's so harsh about it compared to how she usually speaks to him. perhaps because of her own guilt around the incident, perhaps it's the family's response and how keiji is now, how panicked and sleep deprived the poor kid has looked since that day.
so he continues to spiral with nothing to hold on to. grasps at alcohol in a futile attempt to stop falling, because it's all he can think to fall back on. he's a wreck at work– he's barely living, much less working. but megumi tries her best to keep him from getting fired. she'll get him coffee and breakfast and try to say something encouraging. "hey. hang in there, shinogi." with a touch on the shoulder. but in spite of her efforts, of course, it hits a breaking point. everyone in the job thinks keiji's too damaged to continue, saying he either needs to see a shrink or get the hell out of the way and let everyone else do their job.
and keiji just stops coming into work one day.
the downward spiral ensues.

Soo... We built a TARDIS! || tom holland x female!reader
A/N: Inspiration strikes from weird places. For me it was a random video that showed up in my recommendations. I can’t put the link here since it messes up the tags apparently, but I’ll put it in the comments!
This takes place a few months into quarantine so they can actually have 3 months to build a whole actual TARDIS.
Summary: You and Tom get bored in quarantine and decide to build a TARDIS, because, why not?
Warning: A brief mention of ‘being stuck at home’. I added the warning thinking there might be some people having a hard time with this whole isolation thing and not wanting to read about it.
Word Count: 1.8k
Tumblr media
*tomholland2013 just started a live stream. Watch it before it ends!*
“Hi guys!” we see Tom sitting on a couch in his living room, in a loose t-shirt and hair messy.  He makes small talk for a while as he waits for more people to join, then he gets up and starts walking towards the garden door. “Soo it’s a beautiful summer day outside, sun is shining, and I wanted to take you on a little tour of our garden.” He flips the camera around after fumbling for a bit, and the view turns to his garden. “So over here you see our chicken coop. Predator is chillin’ in there, the other two are wandering around. And over here we have some pretty flowers that my even prettier girlfriend planted. And then - OH MY GOD GUYS! WHAT IS THAT?!” He suddenly turns his phone towards the other side of the garden in a quick motion, and comes into view… a life sized TARDIS?
“Woaahh!” he says feigning shock. “T- T- The TARDIS??!” He starts walking towards the blue police box, narrating at the same time. “Guys this is crazy there’s a TARDIS in my garden!” As he gets closer to the box, the door suddenly opens to reveal a young woman, sticking her arm outside and pointing a sonic screwdriver towars the camera.
“Don’t you dare come any closer you-“ she starts with a harsh tone “you- youuu…” she stumbles, not being able to find a word, and starts laughing, we can hear Tom laughing behind the camera too as he also breaks character.
“Sooo..” he starts, flipping the camera to front view and walking towards his girlfriend, wrapping an arm around her shoulders to bring her into frame, both of them smiling at the camera, the police box in the background. “We built a TARDIS!”
3 months earlier
You and Tom were cuddling on your shared bed, catching up on some Doctor Who. While being stuck at home wasn’t ideal, you were trying to make the best of it by spending at least a couple of hours a day together, just the two of you, making up for the times he was away for shooting. After dinner you had a few beers with the guys downstairs, then went back to your room for TV, cuddles, and more beer. You were on your third episode when Tom suddenly lifted his head from the pillows to look at you.
“We should build our own TARDIS.” He stated.
“Yeah, definetely.” You answered in a plain voice, thinking he was joking.
“No, I’m serious.” He continued. “We are stuck at home with nothing to do, I know some carpentry, and the guys would help. It would be fun for all of us.”
Maybe it was because you were both a little beyond tipsy, bit it seemed more and more a like a good idea as he kept on talking.
“Yeah, you are right.” You said after he finished talking and looked at you expectantly. “We should definetely build a TARDIS.”
———-
The next morning , when you were having breakfast with Tom, he lifted his head from his plate and looked at you.
“Can you believe we actually decided to build a TARDIS last night? We get crazy when we’re drunk.” He said, laughing a bit.
“I know right?” you said immediately. “Like, did we really think we could actually build a real, life sized TARDIS on our own? And for what, just to stand in some corner of the garden with no real purpose?”
You both laughed a little nervously with your heads down, then stopped when you looked at each other.
“We should do it.” You both said at the same time.
“Oh thank God!” he started laughing. “I was afraid you actually didn’t want to do it!”
“How could I not when it’s the best idea we’ve ever had!” you exclaimed, laughing along with him as you high fived.
It was gonna be a long few months.
———-
You ordered lots of wood to begin with, watching lots and lots of tutorials and videos when you waited for them to arrive. Apparently, a lot of people had the wonderful idea of building a TARDIS.  While Tom sat at the living room table with a bunch of papers, making calculations for measurements, you were documenting the whole thing with your camera.
“So Tommy the carpenter is here double checking the measurements” you explained off view as the camera showed Tom leaning over the papers, making him lift his his head to see the camera and give a huge smile with a wave.
“You know this would go faster if you helped too, right?” he teased.
“I could help, but you look really attractive right now, doing calculations and stuff, and I wanna enjoy the view longer.” You replied cheekily, making him smile.
“Well, why don’t you come over here and enjoy it closer?” he said, pushing his chair back and patting his legs.
You comply and sit on his lap sideways, wrapping an arm around his shoulders to be more comfortable, the other hand still holding the camera. You make a move to stop recording and put it on the table but Tom stops you, instead holding the camera towards the two of you and flipping the screen so you could see yourselves.
“What are we doing?” you ask him as you lean your cheek against his, looking at yourself at the tiny screen.
“Admiring the view.” He answers, smiling. He doesn’t look away from the camera as he slightly turns his head to kiss you on your cheek, making you smile. He tears his eyes from the camera as he fully turns to you, kissing you repeteadly on your face, moving his lips slightly with every kiss, making you close your eyes in bliss. He has arrived to the corner of your lips and placed a few kisses there when you turn your head and meet his lips. He kisses you slowly, gently, with no rush, making you feel the tingles all the way to your toes.
You pull away after a minute, resting your forehead against his after a final little peck.
“So are gonna put this in the video?” you ask, still smiling.
“Nope.” He answers, as he kisses the corner of your lips again. “This goes into our own archive.”
———-
It was a long and tiring process after the supplies arrived, but also the most fun you had with the boys. Harrison and Tuwaine were mostly observing and making comments as they watched you from the comfort of their chairs, and recording everything as you were helping Tom.
Tom was handling the most of the things, planning what goes where and marking the boards for the places to cut. And you and Harry helped with the cutting after he made the marks. Also, if you had to add, Tom was very shirtless at this point, and you had been staring at him for so long that you almost cut yourself with the mini electric saw you were holding.
“Hey Y/N!” Harrison yelled from his seat, holding the camera. “Stop ogling your boyfriend before you lose a few fingers! Or a hand!”
“I can ogle my boyfriend as long as I want to, Osterfield!” You yelled back, making Tom lean over to give you a little kiss, and making Harry mutter an “ew” under his breath.
———-
When the cutting process was over, you started the painting. Tom was currently recording you as you were painting one of the panels that was leaning against the fence.
“Soo we’re doing the painting right now as you can see.” He narrated. “Harrison decided to get off his arse and actually help for once.” He continued talking, pointing the camera towards his best friend.
“I have been cooking for you for weeks since you guys are so tired all the time!”
———-
After the paints were dry and you were satisfied with the tone, all that was left to was assembling the whole thing. You decided to build it in a way that you could disassemble it and carry it anywhere in the house. So after assembling and hanging up the police box signs, and turning on the light, it was finally done! Your own TARDIS that had no other purpose other than sitting in your garden and looking pretty. Three months well spent, you would say.
“I’m gonna post this on Instagram.” Tom said as you stood next to each other in the garden, admiring the result of your work.
“You should post it on every website available.” You said, still in awe that you currently had an actual, life sized TARDIS sitting in your garden.
“Okay, I have an idea.” Tom said turning to you. “I’ll start a live stream, you’ll be hiding inside, I’ll just come out to the garden showing them the flowers or something. And then I’ll turn around and go like ‘Oh my God guys there is a TARDIS in my garden what the fuck?!’ and then you’ll jump out saying ‘SURPRISEEE!’ ”
“Ooor,” you said, thinking about the sonic screwdriver toy you had in your room. “I could be the Doctor.”
“You would be hot as the Doctor.” He says, leaning in to kiss you, making you wrap your arms around his neck as you kiss him back.
———-
“We built a TARDIS!” you said at the same time, you giving a thumbs up at the camera. The comments were rolling so fast that you couldn’t read any of them.
“I think you just broke the internet again.” You said, making him laugh. He flips the camera around to walk around the TARDIS, showing some details and saying that he was gonna post a video of the whole process later.
“So should we give a tour of the inside, m’love?” he says, turning at you.
“Of course.” You answer, and go over the door to open it with a flourish. “Ta-daaa!” you exclaim, holding out an arm as if you were welcoming him inside.
“Aaand that’s it.” He says as he shows the inside of the box, which is, for a fact, not bigger on the inside but just a tiny space.
“We’re thinking of covering all the walls with pictures and kinda turn this into a memory box.” You explain.
“Yeah, and we’ll sometimes put it in random places in the house, so like one of the guys could walk into his room and suddenly find a TARDIS in the middle of it.” Tom continues, making you gape at him, still not having a filter after everything he’s done for years.
“Tom, stop spoiling our pranks!”
A/N: Sorry for the weird ending, just didn’t know how to wrap it up. Please give it a like/reblog if you enjoyed it! Also, the GIF isn’t mine.

Hey CowBoy
TV SHOW GODLESS
COUPLE WHITEY WINN X READER
RATING FLIRTY
Tumblr media
I sat at my little dinning table as mary Agnes severed me up some strew, filling the bowl and cleaning off my one good spoon before handing it to me. She sat on the other chair and crossed her arms as we sat quietly as I began to eat.
"Do you know where he lives?" She asks looking behind me, I glanced over my shoulder seeing john doe wondering his way across the road
"John doe?' I asked and she nodded humming in agreement slightly "no I do not. Guess I never really thought about that" I explain "sad fella ain't he?"
"Ain't we all" she says "eat"
I nodded and began having spoonfuls of the stew "Mary Agnes... Can I ask ya somethin'?"
"Depends. What about whitey?"
"About... Girls."
"Ohh yeah whitey Why? There some pretty little thing your so sweet on?"
"Kinda" I shurg
"Come on then, tell me about her"
"Well I met her down by the river, a few months back..."
I slowly pulled ted along the dusty pathways towards the river he needed a walk about and in all honesty so did I. I'd been cooped up in that sherrifs office in labelle for what felt like forever. But as I was walking ted brefily spooked and I heard a gunshot it sounded like a rifle, I tried him to a nearby thick tree grabbing my gun in my hand and rushing in the direction of the shot.
I turned and saw... A girl. A little younger then me, she stood by the river, in tall firm boots not to disimilar from my own but these came half way up her leg almost to her knees. A pair of tight jeans hugging her every curve they where clearly men's but they hugged her butt, she wore a white shirt the sleaves rolled to her elbows the buttons not done up down the front it tucked into her jeans. A... Uhh I don't know what to describe it as but a vest or corset type thing that looked like leather ties around the front of her done tight her cleavage being squeezed tight by it all peaks of skin coming from where the ties didn't completely meet on some laces, her beautiful y/h/c hair done ina. Tight braid down her back, a wicked smile on her face, a hat sat in her hair keeping the sun from her eyes. A rifle in her hands as she had clearly shot a can off a line of them by the water. I stopped short seeing her and she glanced to me.
"Relax, put your gun away cowboy" she laughed "I'm just shooting cans"
"Do excuse me little lady. I heard a gunshot and I was worried" I explain
"Awww you don't need to worry about me cowboy, I can handle myself" she smirked putting her rifle down and I to a holster on her back smirking as she turned to me "hi cowboy" she smiled
"Hi, where'd a pretty little thin' like you get that?"
"Mind your own business" she smirked
"Yeah? Well It is my business little lady" I warn her showing her my deputy badge
"Aww? Your cute. Sweet little deputy boy" she giggled coming closer to me "put that dam cannon away cowboy" she smirked taking my gun off me And putting it into my holster for me "you don't need to have your gun pointed at a girl to keep her attention" she smirked giving my cheek a kiss "see you around cowboy" she smiled playfully waving at me as she headed off towards her horse...
"So? You met some pretty girl down the river?" Mary Agnes laughed
"I did, she's really nice"
"She sounds like it" she smirked
"We have a uhh been seein' each other alot, I meet her down the river atleast once a week and... I really like her"
"But?"
"But... And uhh it's a pretty big but..."
I smirked lost on my hormones, my hand on her arse in those tight jeans, the other around her waist up her back so my hand was in the back of her neck, her legs either side of my hips, feeling the zip of her jeans against the zip of my own pants as we gently moved each other, her hands around my neck our kisses getting more passionate, lustful, desperate the longer we went on attacking each other with kisses "ummmm... Babydoll" I moaned into the kiss in desperation for our usual Tuesday make out to become something more till she pulled away a moment resting her head on my own to get her breath back "what's wrong?"
"Nothing whitey, busy day"
"Yeah? Doin' what?"
"Never you mind" she giggled rubbing her nose on my own
"Babydoll, come on I wanna know what ya scurry off to do all the time. And where ya got ya guns and how ya got so good at them"
"You really wanna know?" She giggled
"Of course I do Babydoll" I told her giving her a sweet kiss
"Ya coming or not!" A voice yelled as a horse came into view I got up grabbing my gun hiding her behind me "look sugar we ain't got all bloody night we doing this or are we all just waiting around for ya to finish smooching your boyfriend?'
"Leave me and my boyfriend alone joe" she laughed
"Boyfriend?" I blushed a little
"Whatever sun up or we go without ya" he said as he rode off again
"I need to go, they'll be hell I'm not there" she explained getting her stuff together and fixing her clothes a little from us being so active Tonight,
"Babydoll, please before ya go. Can't ya just tell me?"
"Joe's one of my boys whitey relax" she laughed "we have a little job tomorrow that's all cowboy"
"What job?"
"Can't tell ya" she smiled getting in her horse
"Yeah why not?"
"Because whitey I don't know if I can trust you, I don't know you won't rat me out"
"What are ya talking about?"
"I'll tell ya, next time" she smiled giving me a kiss "love ya cowboy"
"Love ya too babydoll" I smiled trying not to blush or stutter so exited she said it, as she headed off but I got on Ted and headed after her "before ya go... Can ya atleast tell me your name?'
"Y/n, y/n y/l/n" she smiled blowing me a kiss before she hurried off out if sight. I headed back to labelle giggling with excitement, she loved me, I knew her name, I was.. her boyfriend but something didn't sit right with me. I headed into the office still a little giddy and excited from the river but my eyes caught something a wanted poster on the wall that j had long since forgot about pulling it down looking at the poorly sketched faces ...
I took the poster from my pocket unfolding it and handing it to Mary Agnes
"Y/n Y/l/n and the desert Vipers." I explained "she's wanted in every state, by every law man this side of the ocean... She's an outlaw. A murderer. That gun of hers is stolen almost everythin' she owns is stolen" I explain
"So, your little babydolls an outlaw" she smirked
"I'm fucked... Aren't I?"
"Kinda whitey yeah" she laughed
"Go on tell me how dumb I am"
"Pretty damn dumb" she laughed "you spoken to her about it?"
"No, I haven't seen her since I found out"
"What are you going to do?"
"I have no idea maggie. I mean she's my girlfriend I love her, but she's a wanted girl, and I'm a deputy someone found out I'd been seeing her and hadn't arrested her I'd get in the shit too"
"Want my advice whitey"
"Yeah"
"Talk to her." She said "discuss it. And if you really don't want to get her In trouble marry her. They can't arrest a y/n winn, they ain't looking for one" she explained
"Your right maggie, thanks"
"Your welcome" she smiled
I rode down to the river seeing the family horse and familiar girl she smiled as she saw me
"Hey CowBoy" she smiled as I got off ted and she jumped into my arms cuddling me I couldn't help but cuddle her back having missed her so much
"Hey babydoll. Look y/n. I have to talk to ya"
"Whats the Matter? My little cowboy missed me too much?" She smirked rubbing herself on me a little
"Y/n! It's not that. Well of course I've missed ya but also somethin' else. Why didn't ya tell me? About... everythin'?"
"I figured you'd arrest me" she laughed going over to her horse "is that was this is whitey? You come to take me away? I hope you don't expect me to...cum quietly" she giggled
"Y/n. I can't arrest ya"
"Why not?"
"Why not? Because I fuckin' love ya that's why not!" I told her "I'm not arrestin' ya babydoll. But I'm offerin' for ya to come home to Labelle with me, I promise you'll be safe, you'll live with me and maybe we can... Get married"
"Really?"
"Really."
"Look whitey. I get it aww how adorable ya wanna take me home and keep.me safe and we can get married and have babies. Whitey Winn from the bottom of my heart my darling I love you, but I am not some damsel in distress in need of her little cowboy to come save her. I am a wanted gun toting woman and I fucking like being a wanted girl, I like running around doing whatever the hell I want, I'm not giving all that up to stay home in some little town for a little bit of protection"
"You... Ya wouldn't want to be my wife?'
"Whitey if course I would, but I still wanna go and be independent. To go have fun with the boys drinking and stealing, to be a bloody murder, to rob any stage coach I see. I love you whitey I do, and someday yeah I wanna be Mrs winn but you have to accept I am always going to be a criminal, and if you're still happy with that then I'm happy with that, but if your not then go ahead and arrest me"
"I'm not arrestin' ya y/n, I love ya and if you still wanna be an outlaw then... I'll always be deputy in labelle in our little house waitin' for ya to get home babydoll"
"Ummmm I love you my little cowboy' she smiled hugging me closely
"I love ya too babydoll'

Dimension Jumping pt. 4
Tumblr media
The Fellowship x Reader
You went back to work, Pippin is triggered about cookies, and you gotta play mediator.
---
After that whole mushroom scare, you elected to no longer worry about the questionable things the hobbits consume. You kinda just leave it up to Sam to help you cook and make things that everyone likes, though it's hard to please so many people every night when you're not motivated to make more than one dish.
Trips to the grocery store became a lot more expensive and frequent, and while you can definitely pay for it you know that you can't keep on like this forever.
So you've decided that the best course of action to take is alternating between working at home and at the office so you can hunt down more leads.
The reason your boss is so lenient on your attendance is because of your crystal clean record and nature of your job.
Honestly, you don't even really have to go into work as is, but being as the office is the only place you can really get some human actual interaction (not including Brian). Now though, there's not much of a reason to go.
But anyway, you decide to go into work today and have yet to tell everyone else, so when you walked out of your room that morning in your business casual outfit and greeted everyone normally, you got a bunch of weird looks.
"Are you going out somewhere? To the store again, maybe?" Pippin asks, walking up to you with curiosity in his face.
You reach down and ruffle his hair fondly, replying simply, "I'm going to work today."
"Work?" He asks, furrowing his eyebrows, "What about that man who won't stop bothering you?"
Ah, you should've guessed he would ask about that, "I've just gotta deal with it, babe, it be like that sometimes."
"Are you sure that's the best idea? He came to your home, after all." Aragorn pipes up from his spot on the couch.
And guess who's in his fucking lap again? That's right, Penny. That bitch (literally).
"I'm not going to be scolded by a dog thief." You reply faux-bitterly, pouting as your gaze fixes on your white fluff ball of joy.
"Dog thief?" He repeats incredulously, shaking his head, "Just because your dog has taken to me doesn't mean-"
You put your hand up and interrupt not so kindly, "I don't wanna hear it." From the smile threatening to come on to your face, he can tell you're not truly angry or upset, so he allows himself to laugh a bit as he runs a hand down her soft back.
"Alright," he pauses and his expression becomes more serious, "I still don't think it's a good idea, though. After you lied about being with another person, he's surely not going to be very kind."
Fair, yes, but you don't care anyway. "I'll be fine, really. The only problem I'll probably have is being worried about all of you all day..." You sigh at that admittance and turn to go put on your boots.
"If you're sure..."
"I am."
---
The day went about as good as you expected it to be.
Brian was all in your business, hanging out in your work area, talking to you and asking about 'Aaron' aka Aragorn and his brother 'Beau' aka Boromir, and touching your shoulders and stuff like a total creep-so.
Of course, you didn't tell him to fuck off like you wanted to, but that okay because you don't fancy being laid off.
When you get back you're greeted by two hobbits and a fluffy puppy. The latter of which immediately jumped on you and began to wag her tail so fast that she nearly turns back time.
You crouch down and wrap your arms around her tightly, speaking in a high pitched voice, "Aw, who's my good girl? I missed you so much my sweet baby, oh I love you so much!" You kiss her multiple times and rock back and forth with her in your arms until she begins to pull back.
She turns when you let her go and trots back to Aragorn, and the glare you point at him is so withering and resentful that it could've killed a thousand men.
And by withering and resentful I mean pouty and petulantly irritated.
He laughs at your expense, but you ignore him and turn to the hobbits and smile at them brightly, "Did ya miss me?"
"Y/N, do you want a cookie?" Pippin asks suddenly, not answering your question.
"What?"
"A cookie. Like one of those round black and white cookies. Do you want one?" He clarifies, tapping his foot a few times while Merry sighs.
You look at him weirdly and shake your head no, "Um, not at the moment. No."
"How can you not want one?"
"I just don't."
"Fine, then let's say you wanted one and there were some in the cupboard. What would you do?"
"Um, I guess I'd eat one if I were in the mood."
"Exactly, that's what I'm saying." He states, nodding his head as he looks at Merry.
"Wait, what are you saying? I'm confused." He's literally making no sense.
"That if someone wants a cookie, then they should get one. It's what people do."
"I mean, yes I guess you're right..." And then it dawns on you, "Boromir and Aragon won't let you have a cookie."
"No! Even though I'm practically starving, they won't consider it. They say I must eat lunch first!" He sounds like he's been offended in the worst of ways, insulted and stripped of his rights... what a drama queen.
"And you don't find that fair?" You ask, leaning back on the balls of your feet as you look at Aragorn over the top of his head with a raised eyebrow.
Aragorn just shrugs his shoulders.
"You just said that if you wanted a cookie then you would get one, so why can't I? I'm no child, and I can make decisions for myself."
"Well, I guess that's fair. You are an adult." The only way out of this odd conversation is agreement.
"It's just not fair. If they want one they can have one, if you want one then you can have one, but if I want one? The rules don't count. Like you said, it's not fair!"
You look at Merry and ask, "Are you having the same problem as him?"
"Yes, but I don't care as much."
"Well, what are you both going to do about it? Hobbit rebellion?"
Pippin crosses his arms and grumbles, "Well, I'm going to eat lunch. Because I have to. Because the world isn't fair to hobbits."
You don't say anything to that and instead slowly walk away from the door, glancing around the room to see if anyone else is there.
"Where is everyone?" You question, walking up to Aragorn who is crouched down and petting Penny.
"Gimli and Boromir are outside with Frodo and Sam and Legolas... I'm not sure where he is."
You hum your understanding and then ask, "So, no cookies for Pippin and Merry."
He smiles at your question and chuckles quietly, standing back up to his full height, "It's not good for them to have confections without something sturdy first."
"Well I'm sure you heard, but Pippin is very torn up about it. Absolutely devastated." Of course, you're joking and he can tell as much, though his little speech there almost made you want to comply and give him some cookies against their wishes.
"Do not worry about them. Once they've eaten they'll get what they desire." He assures, looking over at the two whispering hobbits.
---
They did end up getting their cookies, luckily for them, and they ate their lunches too. Eventually, Frodo, Sam and the rest of them came back inside, and you noticed right away that they're getting sick of being cooped up inside your house 24/7.
You can probably take the taller bunch of them out at some point, but they're the least high maintenance of this group. Merry, Pippin, and Sam are just itching to go out and see more than just the rooms of your house and your backyard, and Gimli is starting to get rather stir crazy too. Frodo doesn't seem too bothered by it luckily enough, but that doesn't mean he's 100% good with staying in one place for so long.
Also, it seems that in your world that ring doesn't have any power because the dark-haired hobbit explained that he hasn't felt or heard anything from it since arriving there. What it sounds like to you is the ring lost its connection since they're in another dimension entirely, which is both good and confusing.
Anyway, you've been trying to come up with a way to take everyone out of the house at some point so they can see more than just the same things over and over, but you can't really come up with any sort of disguise or cover story that would explain the more vertically challenged 4 of them. Gimli could probably just barely pass if he were to wear taller shoes, and Legolas could probably get by with a hat to cover his ears... but still.
You don't bring this issue up yet, but you do know that eventually, they'll want to leave and see some more so that they don't go mad inside your house.
"Y/N?" Someone says loudly suddenly.
You look over quickly and see Legolas staring straight into your soul.
Was he talking to you? Did he ask you a question or something? Oh god, you don't know! "Um... yeah?"
"You did not hear what I said." He states matter of factly, amusement sparkling in his eyes.
You shake your head 'no' slowly, sheepishly rubbing the back of your head. "N-No, sorry... I was, er, thinking about something."
"May I ask what?" Ever the curious bastard.
"It's nothing important really, what were you saying?"
Your quick change in subject does not go by unnoticed, but there is no questioning on it on his part either. Instead, he repeats what he said before, "I only wished to know if I could accompany you on your next outing."
"Um, well yeah that'd be nice but you'd have to like, wear a hat or something. Your ears will freak people out." You realize how that sounds right away and backtrack quickly, "N-Not that I think your ears are weird or anything! It's just people haven't seen anything like it here, s-so..." Oh god, why did you have to say it like that?
He raises a delicate blond eyebrow and chuckles lightly, observing your flustered form with humor sparkling in his eyes, "I know you meant no offense. Please, you needn't be so wary of me or your words."
He has such a whimsical way of speaking, and you find that you like it quite a bit. "Right, sorry... Well, um you can come with me but you've gotta wear a hat." This time when you say it, you say it with a bit more confidence.
"I can do that." He replies easily.
---
"Y/N?" Sam calls from his spot on the couch next to you.
You turn your head away from the TV and look down at him, raising an eyebrow, "Yeah?"
"Do you abuse drugs? Like how you told that man Boromir does."
You laugh nervously and answer his question with a question, "Why do you ask?"
"Because you seemed to know a lot about it when you explained it the other day."
There is silence for all of 10 seconds. "Well you're damn right I abuse drugs. I see a drug, and I push the hell out of it! Get lost drugs." You exclaim, crossing your arms over your chest.
Sam looks at you weirdly and asks more slowly this time, "But I thought they weren't alive?"
"They aren't. It was a joke."
Realization spreads across his face and he smiles this time, "Oh! Well, it was really funny!"
You know it wasn't but you take it anyway and look back at the TV. "Well of course it was. I'm hilarious if you haven't already noticed." You don't actually find yourself to be that funny, but if you keep up the confidence and pretend like you know what you're doing; then no one else will question you or your humor. Why did he even ask you that anyways, it was completely random...
"Why did you ask?" You question with furrowed eyebrows.
Sam's smile fades a bit but doesn't disappear completely, "Oh, well you see I was just thinkin' an awful lot about it and then I figured I might as well just ask since you've never been against answerin' my questions before."
Fair enough.
You nod your head in understanding and say nothing more about it.
This comfortable silence prevails for a little while before there is a sudden crash in the guest room and some yelling.
You almost get up to go ask what's going on, but Pippin storms out before you have to and goes to join everyone else outside. With a raised brow you turn your head to look back at Sam, but he only rolls his eyes and grumbles, "Those two are always gettin' into something."
---
Later that night while everyone is winding down and getting ready for bed, though you're still in the living room with your laptop on your legs.
The TV has long since been turned off so the only sound in the room is the soft clacking of your fingers hitting the letter keys.
You look up sharply at the sound of a door opening and closing and see Merry leaving the guest room with a sour expression on his face.
Right away curiosity gets the best of you, but you don't say or do anything right away and instead opt to watch him from over the top of your computer screen to see where he goes. Cause there have been a few instances where you've caught him and Pippin raiding your kitchen for some midnight snacks since you usually work in the dark so they don't see you right away.
Instead of heading towards the kitchen, though, he looks right at you and walks over, taking a seat next to you still without saying anything.
"Merry?" You question after a moment of looking at him and him looking at the wall, your eyebrows furrowed, "Is everything okay."
"Pippin isn't talking to me."
Your mouth runs before you can even think of an actual proper response to that, "Enjoy it while it lasts."
He looks up at you with an expression akin to annoyance on his face and then grumbles, "I was trying to."
Ah, so this is more than just a silly little thing.
You move your computer off your legs and place it on the coffee table, turning towards him with your legs crossed on the couch, "Well, what happened? Why won't he talk to you."
He doesn't reply right away, looking away from your face as he seems to deliberate over telling you or not, "He was being stupid earlier and I smacked him over the head and he dropped his treat on the floor and it got ruined."
It's silent while you wait for him to go on, but he just continues to look at you expectantly.
"Wait, that's it?" You ask incredulously, looking at him like he'd grown two heads.
"Yes, that's it. Is there supposed to be more?"
Good god, these guys are total babies.
You sigh and shake your head at the ridiculousness of it all. Though you do have to fix this, so you get up walk over to the guest room and knock on the door lightly.
Boromir is the person to answer the door, and when he sees you standing there he offers a smile, "Oh, hello Y/N."
"Yes, hi. Is Pippin in there?" You question, standing up on your toes to look over his shoulder into the room.
"This is about their argument." He states, not answering your question.
"It is. Tell him to come here."
He nods and turns his head, "Pippin, will you join us for a moment?"
Said hobbit sits up from underneath his pile of blankets and looks over at the two of you wearily, but gets up and walks over regardless. "Yes? What is it?" He inquires, looking up between you and Boromir a couple of times.
You take a step back and ask quietly so as to not disturb the others, "Why won't you talk to Merry?"
"Because he ruined my food." He replies curtly, looking up at you with a frown on his face. "Did he send you here to convince me to talk to him again?"
Yikes, he got you. "Maybe he did."
"Well tell him I'm not interested."
"Pippin, come now calm down. Surely Merry hasn't made you that angry." Boromir cuts in, placing his hand down on his shoulder.
"Can't the two of you try and see this from my perspective?"
A moment of silence passes by before you slowly crouch down in sync with Boromir.
"Oh, it is different down here." You comment as a smile begins to creep on your face.
Pippin doesn't say anything or react right away before he turns and goes back to his makeshift bed and crawls under the covers.
You stand up normally again and look up at Boromir who also stands to his full height once more, "I think that may have been a mistake."
"Undoubtedly so."
You laugh lightly and then step out of the doorway. "I'll go break the news to Merry then, good night." And with that, you walk off down the hallway again and rejoin Merry in the living room.
When you walk in he looks up and smiles with hope shining in his eyes.
Poor dear.
"Well?" He asks, standing up from his spot on the couch.
"So, I talked to Pippin..."
"And?"
"Now he's not talking to me or Boromir."
His eyes go wide and he looks truly shocked. "What!? What did you do?"
"Well he asked us to see things from his perspective and so we both crouched down to your height and it seemed he didn't quite like that."
It's silent for about 10 seconds before he slowly continues, "So he's now not speaking to me, you,  or  Boromir? Because you couldn't keep yourself from making a short joke?"
"That sounds about right." You nod along, plopping back down on the couch. "Hey, don't shoot the messenger."
"The messenger wasn't supposed to tease him more! He probably thinks I sent you to do that!" He complains, standing in front of you with his arms crossed.
"Then maybe you shouldn't have messed up his food. You know how much he loves it." A rational argument on your end if you do say so yourself. It's true after all. You should be allowed to make short jokes if you want to damn it, and no cousinly spat is going to prevent you from doing just that. And let's be real, getting one of the tall dudes in on it only made it so much more awesome.
"I suppose that's fair..."
You nod your head and then pull your computer back into your lap, then say a bit softer, "You should just talk to him and tell him how sorry you are. He's your cousin- he loves you and won't let something silly like this split you up. I'm sure he's only trying to see how long you'll last before going crazy, anyways."
"Yes... That is something he would do."
"Mhm. There's no way he's actually mad at you, so go talk to him." You reach out a hand and pat his shoulder gently, a smile upturning the corners of your lips.
He smiles vibrantly, reaching up to pat your hand on his shoulder lightly, "Thank you!"
"My pleasure."

Chapter 10: Hattie
The night is but young.
❃❃❃
“Are you done yet? Are you done yet?” Hattie asked, squirming as she repeated her question for what seemed like the thousandth time.
“For the thousandth time, no, I’m not done yet. Stupid three thousand word count.” Cait groaned, slouched over their desk. “I swear, the day I graduate, I’m gonna kick Professor Rook square in the junk… boring old bastard… ”
“Sorry, time’s getting away from me.” Hattie apologized. “You’re still using that trick I told you about?”
Cait shrugged. “Even if I don’t count it as I go, it still feels like I’m never gonna finish it.”
The two had been spending the entire evening in their dorm room; Cait had been working on their assignment since the moment the Armilde sisters had left, and Hattie had been trying to keep herself busy by dusting, staring outside, dusting again, and even going as far as to read a lesson they hadn’t yet covered in class.
Tossing the Modern Remnant History textbook to her side, Hattie fell back on her bed spread-eagled, disappointed at the evening so far. She regretted how she had never really fostered a social life outside of Haven Academy— or much less her team, for that matter.
She had grown up as a ward of the underground Sisterhood, mostly keeping to herself and her small collection of fairytale books back then. Having dwelled for so long down in the habitable mine tunnels that the Sisterhood called home, she had recently found herself wanting to explore the world outside more often, if only to make up for lost time.
Those extracurricular lessons with Professor Gormlaith don’t count, she mentally noted.
Hattie didn’t have many friends, either— ironically, the happy-go-lucky girl could be a lot more introverted than extroverted at times. She knew a few students in their year by name, but not enough to warrant anything closer than a “hello” in the hallways. Plus, she didn’t find it to be much fun going out without her friends, which essentially consisted of LLAC and pretty much nobody else.
Well, there is CMYK, she thought to herself, remembering the team of now-second-years that they had tutored in the previous semester. I bet ol’ Mallow or Kara would have been free at this hour… but they’re all over in Vale helping with the set-up for the Vytal Festival, lucky dogs.
And since Lillian and Amaryllis were out doing their own things, she was left cooped up with Cait, who had been taking their time in writing an essay she had already finished.
“…Don’t you have anywhere else to go, Hattie?” Cait asked, glancing over their shoulder.
Hattie turned, wilting slightly as she did. “Should I leave you alone?”
“Nah, it’s not that.” Cait replied. “I just don’t want you to feel stuck here with me, y’know? You could go if you wanted to.”
Hattie shrugged. “Yeah, but I don’t really wanna. I’d prefer to wait for you rather than leave by myself.”
“Fair. Are we going somewhere after I’m done, anyways?” Cait said, turning back to their writing.
“I don’t know. I mean, Ammy said we can come down to her boyfriend’s family’s charity event, but it sounds kinda formal.” Hattie said, then shook her head. “I’m not in the mood for formal tonight.”
“So you don’t have a plan for this evening?” Cait inquired.
“I was kinda hoping you had that part sorted out,” she said with a lopsided smile. Having hung out with them the most, Hattie had always left the ideas up to Cait— they did always know where to go for a fun time. Also, she tended to worry that she’d make a big plan and it would turn out to be a flop.
Lost for any follow-up, she wondered aloud, “What do you think Detective Yuen and the old guys are up to now?”
“Probably living their nice and worry-free adult life.” Cait said sarcastically.
“Do you think we should give them a call? You know, check up on them?”
“Nah. I’m sure they’re doing fine on their own for one night.”
Hattie grabbed her Scroll from the far edge of her bed and waved at Cait, sticking out her tongue. “I’m gonna do it anyways! What if they’ve finally found the bad guys or something?”
Cait rolled their eyes. “Whatever you say…”
***
Sardion paced back and forth in Yuen’s office, his gaze fixed on the vinyl floor. The day had been yet another bust— Rudyard had hung back at Yaara’s house, while Sardion and Yuen, with little else to do, had returned to the precinct.
“I’m just saying, don’t you think we should give LLAC a call?” Yuen suggested. “They’re part of this investigation too, and we could really use some help right now. Plus, they might see something we’ve overlooked.”
“They’re having a night off, Yuen. I’m sure they have better things to do.” Sardion replied. “You don’t want to tire the young’uns out before they even graduate, right?”
“Maybe.” Yuen sighed. “Hear anything from Rudyard?”
“Not yet, but he said he’d call if he found anything to go on.”
***
Rudyard stared up to the inky heavens, taking in the starry night sky from Yaara’s old lawn chair, a half-empty bottle of beer loosely grasped in his fingertips.
In the backyard of her humble home, the Huntress had cultivated a small flower garden. In the back of his mind, Rudyard reflected on the visits he had paid her, how she had meticulously tended to them every day; thoroughly watering them, rooting out any weeds, gently humming while she kept her garden impeccable.
Now, seeing as their owner had been dead for a week, the garden had slowly begun to die as well. The bright petals and leaves of the flowers had begun to fade and wilt from a lack of water, and weeds had taken over a small patch of dandelions.
Rudyard rose to pick up a rusty old watering can on the back veranda, then filled it up with a nearby hose. As he let the water trickle down onto the garden’s parched soil, he let out a long sigh— after all she had done for him, it was the least he could do. Eventually emptying the can, he opted to go back inside, as the night air started to grow colder.
Searching for a spot where the police hadn’t tagged or taped anything of interest, he made himself comfortable in a reclining chair in her personal study. Looking around, a single book lying on her desk caught his eye, the tip of a torn sheaf of paper stuck in the pages halfway through. The title on the cover read Eternal Blue Sky, luminescent gold font on a pastel blue background.
“Of course.” Rudyard chuckled to himself. “You would have hated this, Yaara, leaving a book unfinished.” Absentmindedly, he picked up the book and opened it up to the bookmarked page.
He paused.
Written on the scrap of paper in what was unmistakably Yaara’s handwriting was a short message; 1100 apr 23 for further details - stored on hosaki comm log 1138.
“April…?” Rudyard muttered, squinting at the writing. He remembered that April 21st had been the starting date of the last mission on her and Berilo’s record, and it had been marked as remaining within city limits.
He had never heard of a place called “Hosaki” anywhere in Mistral City.
Frowning, he tucked the sheaf of paper into his pocket and rose from the chair, reaching into his pocket. “Wonder what Yuen’ll make of this.”
He paused, fingers fumbling inside an empty pocket.
“…Where’d I put my Scroll?”
***
“Do you know of any other places they might have escaped to?” Sardion asked as he took a closer look at the map of Mistral spread over Yuen’s desk, doing his best to focus despite his inner restlessness slowly clouding his mind.
“Besides the forest, nothing, and if that’s the case then they’re likely long gone by now.” Yuen said, leaning back in her chair. “Maybe the Manju-Shage District, but I doubt it. The whole thing’s cordoned off by a tripwired security fence. There’s no way someone could’ve broken in without us knowing about it.” She continued, tapping her fingers against the armrests in mild frustration.
“Well, maybe they could’ve snuck in, if they had the right Semblance for the job. At this point, I’m ready to try anything if it means we might find a lead,” Sardion paused, sharply exhaling, “Any step we take, no matter how small, is at least a bit closer to the whoever’s behind this.”
“True.” Yuen said, glancing up at him. “After all, there’ve been times that thugs occasionally get the great idea to break in and squat there, to lay low or whatever… you want to check it out, just in case?”
“Might as well. I’ve already got my weapon on me.” Sardion shrugged. “I’ll call up Rudyard first, see if he’s up for it.” He pulled out his Scroll and sent a call to Rudyard’s contact.
Bzzzzz. Bzzzzz. A small buzzing hum came from beneath a stack of papers on the right of Yuen’s desk. The Huntsman and the detective exchanged confused looks, before realizing what was making the noise.
“Oh, for the love of…” Sardion muttered, sticking his hand underneath the stack and pulling out a Scroll— Rudyard’s own. “Perfect time to forget this, you freakin’ cueball…” He stuck his Scroll back in his jacket and tossed Rudyard’s onto Yuen’s desk.
“Okay, well, that’s a bust… like I said before, we could call up LLAC.” Yuen suggested.
Sardion was inclined to disagree with her, given that it had been the students’ night off— calling them in for duty at such an hour wouldn’t be the most gracious move. However, he figured that they’d best bring some backup, if only to cover more ground if nothing else.
“Alright, go for it.” he said.
Yuen took out her Scroll and pulled up Lillian’s contact. “Here goes. Hope for the best.”
***
“Why do I always have to be the one to make the food?” Rosario asked, swinging her now-empty basket from one hand as she walked alongside Lillian down the cliffside path.
“You’re a great cook, and I can’t even season my food correctly.” Lillian replied. “Do you remember the last time when I tried to make instant ramen unsupervised?”
“Point.” Rosario said. “You did literally set a pot of water on fire. I’m no scientist, but I’m pretty certain that violates every law of thermodynamics that there is.”
Lillian nodded. “See?”
“Riiiight.” Rosario drawled. “Imagine what adult life would be like. Every night, it’ll just be me greeting you, ‘Welcome home, mi amor! What do you want first? Dinner? A bath? Me?’ And then you’ll go, ‘I’ll have you for dinner in the bath!’”
“I know you’re trying to make fun of me, but you’re drooling, Rosario.” Lillian said, giving her girlfriend a flat stare.
Rosario flushed red, wiping the corner of her mouth. “I am not.”
Lillian snorted.
***
“Damnit, her Scroll’s turned off.” Yuen groaned. “Her sister’s offline as well.”
“Thought so. They have private lives too, you know.” Sardion shrugged, slinging his coat over his shoulders. “C’mon, might as well see if any airships are available and just get this over with.”
Yuen rose from her chair. “Fine. I’ll leave them a message if we do find anything.” Just as she was about to follow Sardion out, her Scroll suddenly vibrated in her coat.
The profile picture that displayed the caller wasn’t Lillian— rather, it was the Lazuli kid calling her.
It’s something, I guess. Yuen thought to herself, swiping to accept the call.
“…Hey, Detective Yuen.” Hattie chirped up on the other end.” How’s it going? It’s Hattie from, uh, Team LLAC. Uhm, we just wanted to check in, and—” She continued, stumbling slightly over her words.
“As a matter of fact, I’m glad you called.” Yuen replied. “Listen, Sardion and I are going to investigate a possible lead down in the old Manju-Shage District, and your help would be very much appreciated.” She hesitated before continuing. “That is, if you’re not already preoccupied.”
***
On the other end of the line, Hattie’s face lit up as she heard Yuen’s invitation. For the moment, she managed to suppress the urge to whoop and cheer out of deference to the still-working Cait. “Nononono, no problem. We’ll be there right away, Detective,” she said, struggling to contain her excitement as she ended the call.
It took her a few seconds before she was able to produce words, since all that was coming out of her mouth were muffled joyful squeaks. “…Cait?”
“Gimme a sec.” Cait replied, holding up a finger.
Hattie paused, her smile falling slightly.
“Cait.” she repeated, her tone becoming  normal.
“Wait, Im almost done.” Cait said, focused on their computer’s monitor.
“Cait!” Hattie repeated for a third time, her voice rising slightly as she grew irked by their dismissal.
“I said wait, Hattie.” Cait said, still not turning around. “…’Make sure to provide footnotes along with citations’? Aw, what the hell’s the point of that?” they muttered to themself as they reviewed their essay.
Hattie scowled darkly, thoroughly annoyed at the brush-off. After a moment, she tiptoed up next to her teammate’s shoulder and leaned in towards their ear as close as possible.
“CAAAAAAAAAAAIT!” she screamed.
“AUUUUUUUGH!” Cait screeched, jumping up from their seat in shock as they spun around to face her. Their brow contorted, startled and frustrated at the girl’s outburst.
“WHAT?!” they snapped.
Hattie’s expression morphed into a tooth-bared cheshire grin, her attempt at emulating Cait’s own habit.
“I know what we’re gonna do tonight~♪.”

I'll be your optimistic black hole, full of love I can't control
Parkner Febufluff Day 13 & 14 – Bouquet of Roses & Valentine’s Day
Read on AO3
*
Back in Tennessee, Harley was used to being one of the smartest kids in town. Rose Hill was a small place filled with people who would end up going nowhere. Everyone in his class would end up taking after their parents, working as teachers of Rose Hill High or at the corner store or in the little pubs around town.
Harley, on the other hand, had Tony Stark on speed dial. He had a garage filled with Stark-approved technologies. He used to build pop can robots and potato guns using the junk he took from his mom’s work at one of the pubs. And then he started building real technologies using the things that Tony bought for him.
He was used to be being the smartest. He was happy being top of the ranks, the one voted for The Person To Go The Farthest at the award ceremonies. He had never been anywhere but comfortably a genius compared to the other kids at his skills.
And then he arrived to Midtown High, in the middle of junior year.
He went from being the smartest kid in Rose Hill, to being the stupidest kid in Midtown.
He was supposed to be Stark’s kid, the smart kid, the one everyone went to for homework help. It shouldn’t be hard for him to pass his classes.
But fuck was he ever wrong.
His grades were slipping through his fingers, his nights were spent crying out of frustration at his desk when he just didn’t get it. He couldn’t understand the numbers and words floating around his pages.
And exams were rolling around soon. Only a couple weeks until then and if Harley fails his exams, he’ll fail his classes, he’ll fail the semester. He’ll end up back in Rose Hill, back to pretending to be the smartest kid like he isn’t struggling to understand everything.
He was going to fail.
* He’s half-asleep in English class, somehow the only class he’s passing decently, when somebody sits in the vacant seat beside him, the seat that’s been empty for the past two months that he’s been in New York.
He didn’t have any friends, but he knew the boy beside him.
Peter Parker was the kid that got pushed into lockers, punched behind the school, lunch money stolen, teased and tripped and tortured by Flash and his group of dumbasses.
Peter was also well-known as the smartest kid in school, acing all his classes despite his less-than-perfect attendance record. He wore thick glasses and button-ups under his sweaters, wide bambi-brown eyes filled with a sort of childish innocence.
“Hi,” Harley says dumbly, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. Normally, Peter sits front and center just like he does in all the classes they share.
Peter smiles brightly, eyes crinkling behind his glasses. “Hi. I’m Peter. Peter Parker.”
“Harley. No offense, of course, but why are talking to me?”
“Yeah, I, uh, I don’t wanna overstep or anything, but I heard from my not-quite-friend that you were having some trouble in Chem and I was wondering if you wanted any help?”
It’s said with such ease, such carelessness, like it isn’t the thing that Harley’s been beating himself up over for months. Like this hasn’t caused tears, hiding his tests with failing grades from Tony and hoping to god he can make those marks back later.
“The exam’s coming up,” Peter continues, blushing under Harley’s gaze and averting his eyes to the floor. “And I don’t wanna be that guy but I’m a tutor for the school, so if you needed some help, I just wanted to let you know I’m always available.”
Tears fill his eyes as the embarrassment, the shame, burns his chest, hands shaking under the desk.
He’s supposed to be smart. He’s supposed to be able to understand this stuff without a fucking tutor.
But he can’t do it.
He feels so fucking stupid all the time, going from The Genius of Rose Hill all the way down to The Stupid Kid Who Needs a Tutor at Midtown.
“Just let me know, yeah? I’m always around.” Peter moves to stand up, offering another timid smile.
Just as he’s about to turn away, to leave Harley who’s barely said a word, Harley grabs his wrist. He’s weak. He’s so fucking weak, but he needs this. He needs help. He needs to get his head above water before he fails his exams.
“I, uh, I kinda need a tutor, yeah,” Harley says, shoving down the burning shame.
Peter’s quick to sit back down, a gentle smile gracing his features. “Yeah, of course, I’m happy to help.”
“I’m failing my classes,” Harley admits because he’s been holding that secret in his chest for two of the longest months in his life. “Almost all of them. I just- I can’t fail my exams too. I just- I don’t get it. I feel so fucking stupid.”
Somehow, someway, there’s no disgust in Peter’s expression, no confusion, no hatred, no judgement. Just the same bright kindness that he manages to constantly radiate.
“That’s okay, everyone gets a little in over the head sometimes. You’re smart, Harley, I’m in your Tech class, I would know,” Peter says, smile never fading. “Just because you’re having trouble with memorizing the concepts or getting a hang of the ideas, doesn’t mean you’re stupid.”
It’s such a simple, casual thing for Peter to say, but it loosens something in Harley’s chest, makes the insecurities quiet just a little bit.
“So you’ll help me?” Harley asks quietly.
And Peter smiles, bright and incomparably. “Course I will, Harley.”
* There are only three weeks left until his exams, so Peter decides to devote all of his free time to Harley like he has nothing better to do.
It starts with just a few lunches and a couple after-school tutor sessions at the school’s library, but by the second week, Peter’s decided he wants Harley to absolutely ace his tests, so they start spending every lunch and afternoon together, pouring over Harley’s textbooks.
And on Friday of the second week, Peter invites Harley back to his place for a few extra hours of studying.
Peter’s a genius. He knows everything, it feels like. Harley believes Peter’s IQ could even rival Tony’s, though he’d never admit that to his mentor.
He lives in an old, small apartment in Queens with his aunt, a wonderful woman and Harley immediately understands where Peter got his unconditional kindness.
May left for work while they were studying on Friday and they lose track of time.
(Harley gets caught up in the way Peter laughs and smiles, so open and bright, and the way he teaches, devoted and thorough, and the way he’s so wonderful with every question Harley has, every complaint about he feels stupid not getting their classwork.)
And eventually, they realize it’s gotten pretty late and Harley has a dozen or so missed calls from Tony.
“Oh shit, I should probably-” Harley says, preparing to stand and leave, despite wanting to stay.
“If you’re allowed to, you can stay the night,” Peter offers shyly, a soft blush filling his cheeks. “We can study for a little longer, I think we have some leftover takeout.”
Harley can’t help the smile that stretches over his face, ignoring the warmth that soothes all of his worries.
“Lemme call Tony and ask.”
* Tony said yes, along with a lot of teasing about staying the night with another boy, but after that Friday night, they hang out for most of the day on Saturday, and again on Sunday.
Though, they spend Sunday watching movies and hanging out as friends more than they really get any homework done. Peter claims that Star Wars is educational too, and it’ll help Harley with his classwork, but Harley knows better.
The next week, the two boys are practically inseparable.
Peter claims he’s only sitting beside Harley in all his classes to help him with the work, and Harley says he only walks Peter from class to class to protect him from Flash because he needs to make sure his tutor is in perfect shape for exams.
They hang out at the library or Peter’s apartment after school every day, and they spend lunches together, and the weekend before exams, Peter comes to the tower and they spend all three days cooped up in Harley’s room (which he actually cleaned before Peter came over) to make sure Harley was absolutely prepared for his exams.
Even Tony gives them space, which is crazy considering it’s Tony. But all he does is knock on their door every few hours, offering snacks or meals or asking if they need any help. Otherwise, he doesn’t bother them.
* And then, before Harley knows it, exams are over.
He did it and he did them with confidence.
They get their grades back the second week of February, but Harley doesn’t care anymore because Peter’s back to sitting in the front of the classrooms, back to just offering polite smiles when they see each other in the hallways, back to not hanging out with Harley.
He doesn’t know what he expected, but he didn’t think Peter would go back to not talking to Harley. He didn’t think Peter would just leave him as soon as Harley stopped needing him.
But it’s fine.
Harley doesn’t care.
Or at least that’s what he tells himself when he watches Peter sit across the room with his stupid, beautiful smile and messy curls and adorable skip in his step.
He doesn’t care.
* Grade Average of Eighty-Eight Percent.
Holy fucking shit.
The report card is shaking in his grip, page crinkling in his sweaty hands.
Peter managed to get his grades up from failing, up to high 80s. How? Harley doesn’t know, but the numbers stare back up at him from the page, real and right in front of him.
“You should get your study-buddy a gift,” Tony says.
He found out about Harley’s grades when he found his progress report hidden under the couch a few days prior. He wasn’t happy, not that Harley was failing, but because Harley didn’t feel like he could go to Tony for help.
After a long discussion about intelligence and about asking for help and about how Tony will be proud of him for whatever grades he gets as long as he’s trying his best, things went back to normal.
“He isn’t talking to me anymore,” Harley admits quietly.
Tony lets out a little laugh, quickly stifling it when he sees Harley’s sour expression. “Just talk to him. I saw the way he looked at you, kiddo. From what you’ve told me, he probably just doesn’t know how to be your friend.”
“So… what? What am I supposed to do?”
Tony shrugs, leaning back against the counter and offering a smile. It makes Harley miss Peter’s smiles. “It’s Valentine’s Day tomorrow, kid. Get him some flowers or something, let him know you did well on your Exams and then ask to hang out sometime. Stop overthinking this.”
“And what if he says no?”
“Then he’s missing out. And you can play it off as just wanting to say thank you, nothing more. No harm done.”
That’s how Harley ends up walking down the hall with faux-confidence, bouquet of roses clutched in one hand, his report card in the other.
Peter’s at his locker, a heavy book in his hands. He looks pretty, like he always does, cheeks flushed a light pink, bambi-brown eyes scanning the pages, a soft smile gracing his face.
“Peter!” Harley calls out.
The boy looks up, pushing his book into his locker to focus his whole attention on Harley. He’s already grinning, eyes light and sparkling.
“Harley,” Peter greets, smile unfaltering, even as he takes in the roses.
“I wanted to get you a thank you gift for helping me out this past month,” Harley says, his mouth is suddenly dry and his heart is pounding in his chest. “Guess who has an eighty-eight average?”
Peter’s jaw drops and his eyes got wide, and then his arms are around Harley’s neck, face against his shoulder.
“Holy shit, that’s incredible!”
Harley’s quick to catch the younger boy, sliding his arm around Peter’s waist, careful not to disturb the flowers.
Peter pulls away, just enough to look up at Harley, face beaming with pride. “I knew you could do it. I told you, you were smart, didn’t I?”
With Peter’s face just inches from Harley’s, beautiful and bright with that wonderful kindness, arms already around Harley, nobody can really blame him for crossing the few inches of distance and pressing their lips together.
Another wonderful turn of events, and Peter’s kissing him back, arms tightening around Harley’s shoulders, drawing them closer together.
When they’re eventually pulling away, Peter smiling shyly, blushing and obviously flustered.
“I, uh, I-” Peter stutters, eyes wide. But he looks happy.
“You wanna go out sometime?” Harley asks. “Not school-related.”
Peter’s face lights up in another one of his beautiful smile. “I’d love to.”
Peter kisses his again, leaning up on his toes to reach Harley’s mouth.
“Happy Valentine’s Day, Peter.”
“You too, Harley.”

The Lonely Road Part 2 - Home Again
Pairing: Gerard Way x Female ReaderRating: Teen (for online bullying)Requested By: Three separate anonsWord Count: ~1,500Author’s Note: Holy smokes guys! Three separate anons all looking for part two of this story?! That make me feel so good as a writer! And the best part is that everyone seemed to have the same idea I did, as I had basically pulled that part out of part one to keep it from getting too long and rambling. Kinda like this note is getting. Ok on to the story!
Tumblr media
Gerard flew back to LA later that day and your tour continued on. The next few stops were much better, thanks in part to the refreshing visit with Gerard and a day off that everyone sorely needed, but also Christine getting much more stern with the interviewers about the questions they would be asking.
Having removed the Twitter app from your phone was proving to be incredibly helpful for your mental health, however it wasn’t silencing the constant stream criticism and hate from Gerard’s so-called fans. The longer you maintained your silence, the more vicious the tweets became.
I hope @(YFN)(YLN) bus crashes
Hey @mikeyway is (YN) as aweful as she seems?
can we just cancel her fo existing? #(YN)iscancelledparty
A couple weeks later, the tour was over and you were rolling back into LA. Christine drove you home and debriefed you on what you would be doing in the coming weeks, but most importantly you had a few days off. All you could think of was getting home and meeting up with Gerard, but when you finally arrived, a familiar car was already waiting in the driveway.
“Gee!” You squealed, jumping out of the passenger seat as soon as the car had stopped moving. You ran up to him and jumped in his arms as he spun you both around. “Ugh the last two weeks were the longest yet!”
“I know, I missed you so much,” he said, setting you back down before planting a big kiss on you.
You weren’t aware of how long you had been lost in Gerard’s kiss until you heard Christine clearing her throat behind you.
“Sorry to interrupt this lovely reunion, you two really are the cutest I swear, but (YN) you wanna get your dirty laundry out the back seat of my car?” Christine asked snidely.
You pulled back and rolled your eyes as you went to retrieve your things.
“Thanks again for coordinating everything so I could come out and see (YN),” you heard Gerard say to Christine.
“Happy to help. I’ll get outta here so I’m not interrupting any further,” she said with a wave. “Oh and don’t forget (YN), meeting on Tuesday at 11 AM.”
“Got it,” you said, waving her off as Gerard helped to carry your bags inside the house. “Ugh, finally it’s just you and me again,” you said, draping your arms over Gerard’s shoulders as he put his hands on your waist, kissing you sweetly.
“My favorite place to be,” he smiled. “What do you wanna do first?”
“Honestly? I’m starving, can we order some lunch? And then eat it in bed? And just stay in bed for like the rest of the day?“
“That sounds great,” Gerard laughed.
~
The next morning Gerard invited you to go along with him to the studio to sit in on My Chem’s recording session.
”(YN)! How was touring?“ Ray greeted you with a warm hug.
"Ugh, it was a real learning opportunity,” you laughed and rolled your eyes.
“Gee told us you were having some trouble with the internet. That’s why I just stay away from it,” Ray shrugged.
“You probably got the right idea,” you replied as Mikey and Frank walked in.
“Hey (YN), welcome back,” Mikey said, exchanging a look with Frank.
“Yea… what was that about?” You replied, narrowing your eyes as you lookied between the two of them.
“Nothin,” Frank replied. “I gotta get in there and get this riff recorded before I lose it,” he said,  hurrying into the recording booth. Ray turned his attention to talking to the producer about what Frank was doing, leaving you with the brothers.
“Mikey, what was that look you gave Frank?” Gerard pressed.
“Yea, spill it,” you chimed in.
Mikey sighed. “I went on twitter for the first time in a while and there were all these messages directed at me asking why you weren’t on there, if you were too scared and weak to face the fans, if I liked you dating Gee, if Gee was happy, asking me to break you guys up so Gee and Frank can be together,” he said rolling his eyes.
“For fucks sake,” Gerard muttered, running his hand through his hair.
“Did you reply?” You asked, your voice barely coming out as a squeak. You were so sick of this response when your music career was just barely taking off. What if you achieved the level of success you once dreamed of, what would the criticism be like then? And what if Gerard got sick of dealing with you and the drama that seemed to follow you at every turn.
“Nah, I’m not gonna dignify that shit with a response. But for the record, I love you and Gee together,” he smiled reassuringly.
“Well I’ve fucking had it,” Gerard snapped as he pulled his phone out of his jacket pocket.
“What are you doing?” You asked.
“Shutting this down. These people claim to be fans, but can’t show a shred of respect to you, me, Mikey, Frank, Jamia, any of us. It ends today.”
You glanced at Mikey, who shrugged and joined Ray listening to Frank play. Gerard quickly slipped deep into thought as he typed furiously at his phone. You turned your attention to Frank’s playing as well until you felt a tap on your shoulder.
“Wanna go for a walk?” Gerard asked.
“Sure,” you replied with a smile as you got up and followed him out of the studio. It was a warm, sunny day, perfect for being outside instead of cooped up in a soundproof, windowless room. Gerard’s hand found yours as you wandered down the street, eventually stopping at a small cafe with big planters of bright flowers surrounding their outdoor seating area.
“This place is so cute,” you commented between sips of your iced coffee when you found a table.
Gerard nodded in agreement, before sliding his chair closer to yours. “I wanna get a photo,” he said, holding up his phone as he leaned in and placed a kiss on your cheek and you laughed with delight. Before you knew it, you and Gerard were practically having a full-on photo shoot, taking photos on your phones of each other, and both of you together. You were laughing and having a wonderful time until two people in business attire shot you a withering glance as they sat down at one of the other tables to begin their meeting.
As Gerard’s laughter died down, he started scrolling through the photos. “This is the one,” he said.
“What?” You asked, looking up from your own collection of photos.
“One sec,” he said, concentrating on his phone for a moment. “Ok, umm, so I want you to read this caption before I post it on instagram. You’re the most important person in the world to me and I love you. I’m so sick of how you’re being treated online, so I hope this shuts it down.”
When you took his phone, you looked at the photo he had selected and edited a little. You were laughing, holding your coffee, the bright flowers behind you providing the perfect backdrop as the sun shone down, but your heart pounded in your chest as you scrolled down and began to read:
It frustrates me that I even have to write this, but it’s overdue. For weeks and months now, I’ve tried to ignore the near constant barrage of hate and vitriol being spewed toward someone who is so important to me. I’ve said before that (YN) brings so much happiness and love to my life, she’s someone that I’ll be with forever if I’m lucky.
But when every day I have to see and hear that people are questioning how much joy she brings me, saying vile things to and about her, it makes me sick. No one deserves that. And the fact that it’s being done in the name of supposedly protecting me is unacceptable. Disrespect is unacceptable and that’s not what being a fan is.
To everyone who has shown (YN) love and support with her new album, or at the very least treated her respectfully, thank you. I appreciate it so much.
To my love (YN), I am so sorry that I didn’t do this sooner. You’re the most talented, beautiful, thoughtful, loving woman I’ve ever met. Never let them steal what makes you wonderful. I’m here for you always.
You glanced up at Gerard, your eyes welling up with tears. “Thank you,” you said softly.
“I mean it, I’m so sorry I didn’t step in sooner. I thought if we ignored it, they’d shut up and go away, not get worse.”
“It’s ok, there was no way of knowing,” you shrugged. “Maybe this will get someone to think twice. And I think we’ll all be better off if we take a break from Twitter. That’s where the worst of it seems to be.”
“You’re right,” Gerard nodded. “I  really love you (YN),” he said with a gentle smile.
“I love you too. And thank you for everything you do for me,” you said as you leaned in and sweetly placed a kiss against his lips.

I Wrote My Own Deliverance
Chapter 2 out of 10
Alexander Hamilton is reborn as Alex Hambleton. He is desperate not to make the same mistakes twice, but it seems he is stuck in the narrative, unable to get out. Familiar faces pop up all around him as he attempts to keep his previous life a secret and write himself out of the story.
On AO3.
Ships: none
Warnings: Mild homophobia, beginning and ending indicated with a *. Tell me if I missed anything or if you want me to tag something!!
~~~~~~~~~~
Over the course of the first semester he fell into a nice rhythm, wherein he spend most of his days cooped up in the library or following his courses. He and Aaron rarely spoke, but they had fallen in a sort of camaraderie where they proof read each others work and studied in silence.
Alex was lucky that he did not share any classes with former acquaintances, since he was still a spit-fire, ready to argue with anyone about his beliefs and that would come back to bite him sooner or later.
The fact that it was working, should have alerted Alex that it was going to come crashing down, but alas he was oblivious when he exited his dorm near the end of the first semester.
*
He was trudging over the field when he heard a posh voice preach: “Homosexuality is a sin. It is unnatural and the people who follow the Devil will meet them in Hell.”
Alex stopped and did a double take.
As much as he tried to keep out of too much trouble in public, this guy got on his nerves more then anything and it did not seem that anyone in the crowd was about to say something to the guy.
So, he hauled his poly bisexual ass over there and got ready to fight.
“Homosexuality is a lot more natural than your haircut, fuckface.” he called out loudly, not missing the relieved slump in some of the bystanders that were glad someone else had stood up first.
“Excuse me?” the fuckface in question replied.
“Same-sex couples have been identified in nearly every species on the planet, reincarnations have kept their gender identity and sexual orientation over many lives and countless of bodies. Just because you’re ignorant and stupid, doesn’t mean you can go around insulting people who are just existing.” he said.
Fuckface was starting to say something back, but Alex just steamrolled forwards: “Not to mention how redundant Hell is when we have verified reincarnations, just because someone remembered a past life and interpreted it as a vision, doesn’t mean it’s true.”
He glanced around and added: “No offense to religious people, of course, just that you cannot force your beliefs on anyone else and I’m not even going to start the argument of how cruel God would be to send his saved souls back.”
People were rallying behind him as fuckface started to look more and more uncomfortable on his little box.
“I would tell you to suck my dick, but alas I have standards.” Alex said, “Now, if you excuse me, you can shove your backwards and ignorant ideals up your ass and pray for forgiveness, since you are not really loving your neighbor as thyself.”
*
And with that he marched away, not caring that the guy was getting mobbed by the fired up bystanders.
He didn’t get far though, before he was stopped. A friendly freckled face smiled: “Hey man, I really appreciate that, I was about to give him a meeting with my fist, but perhaps better that I didn’t. Sorry, I’m Jonathan Lawson, call me John.”
Alex smiled back, mentally cursing himself for being caught unaware, as he replied: “Alex Hambleton, pleasure.”
Johns eyes grew wide and this was exactly what he had wanted to avoid. Trying to save himself the lie, he asked: “I’m sorry, did I say something wrong?”
“No, sorry, just a familiar name.” John smiled back sadly, excitement falling of his face.
“Ah, I got that before, always awkward.” Alex assured him, “I was on my way to the library.”
“Hey, me as well, I was meeting two friends there, I’m probably late.” John answered, “Here, I’ll walk with you.”
“Sorry for holding you.” Alex said, starting to walk.
“Nah, don’t worry, if you hadn’t shown up I would have fought the guy and I would have been even later.” John grinned and, by god, Alex had missed that smile, “You being there will be the best explanation anyway.”
“Glad to be of service.” Alex grinned back, a pang in his heart that he couldn't hug his Laurens.
Alex had been right that Herc and Laf would be the people waiting for John. Their eyes widened when they came into view and Alex pretended he didn’t see the small shake of the head John gave them and how sad they looked afterwards.
Instead he smiled and stuck out his hand as he introduced himself: “Alex, nice to meet ya. I am here to verify that John has a valid excuse for being late.”
And that was Johns cue to jump in: “Yes, you see there was this asshole, and when I say asshole I mean asshole.”
“Homophobic asshole.” Alex added for him.
John nodded: “And you know me, I wasn’t about to let that slide, but then before I could punch him Alex here jumped in and he verbally ripped him apart, which was glorious and probably better since now I’m not bleeding or at a police station and somewhat semi-on time.”
Lafayette and Herc looked back and forth between them, then Herc sighed and said: “Of fucking course, anyway I am Hercules, but call me Herc.”
“And I am Marie-Joseph Paul Yves Roch Gilbert du Motier de Marquis de La Fayette, but everyone just calls me Lafayette or Laf.” Laf grinned, shaking Alexs hand excitedly.
“It’s a pleasure.” it hurt Alex to let go of Lafs hand after that.
“So are you a reincarnate?” Laf asked.
Alex forced himself to look surprised and scandalized. To ask about someones past life was similar to asking ones sexual orientation, it wasn’t that weird, but also not really a socially accepted thing to do.
“Oh, desolé, I forget you Americans don’t ask that.” Lafayette smiled innocently, but Alex had known the other long enough not to trust it.
“No problem, but no, not as far as I am aware.” he lied smoothly, feeling slightly bad at their crestfallen expressions, “But you’re French? Je parle français!”
Lafs eyes lit up as he spouted it in quick French: “Quelqu'un d'autre qui parle la plus belle langue du monde! ”
“Je dois dire que j'aime beaucoup ça, oui.” Alex grinned.
“Hey, no excluding.” John pouted.
“Don’t you speak French too, John?” Herc asked.
“I used to, but I forgot.” John grimaced.
“Anyway, as fun as this is, I still have an essay to finish and a few sources to find.” Alex changed the subject. It was fun to see his friends, but it hurt that it couldn't stay like this and every moment was a moment he could slip up.
“Same, here I’ll come with you.” John offered, “We were planning on studying already. One more person at the table won’t hurt.”
Alex hesitated, then gave in.
One day wouldn’t hurt, right?
Wrong.
One day turned into two, turned into a week and before he knew it he had befriended all three of them to the point of no return.
He wasn’t complaining, because being here with his friends, alive and in the flesh, was amazing, but it got increasingly harder not to join in whenever they made references or jokes only past him would have gotten.
Naturally he pouted about exclusion and Lafayette would give him a kiss on the cheek as he apologized and changed topics, never explaining.
It was good, especially when they found out they all took American History together next semester, which was given by Professor Washburn. Not hard to figure out who that would be, given, well given everything so far.
They were all excited of course, but Alex was more nervous than anything. Would he be able to keep his mouth shut when faced with Washington?
Seemingly he was not the only one who had put together who their teacher was. When he entered the room with John and Laf both gave the man a lazy salute while Herc nodded at him, Alex settled on looking confused hoping to avoid any conversation.
Washingtons eyes widened and John said: “Hey, Alex, save me a seat, I wanna talk to the prof for a sec.”
“Yeah, me too.” Laf added.
Herc and Alex didn’t ask questions, just waved them off. Alex watched closely as his two friends greeted Washington. The man grinned broadly and he clasped both on their shoulders, sending a pang of longing and jealousy through Alex, before it was replaced by fear as Washington gestured over to him.
Lafayette and John shook their head sadly and said something to Washington that Alex couldn't make out as Washington nodded in reply, a small sad frown on his face.
The three said their goodbyes, before Laf and John made their way back. Alex couldn't help, but ask: “So, what was that about?”
“Oh, nothing much really.” John tried to avoid the topic.
“Why did you point at me?” Alex asked, god why did he always have to know everything? Make sure everything was going as planned?
“Because.” John answered.
“That’s not really a reason honestly.” Alex told him.
“Just let it go, alright?” John said.
“Laf?” Alex turned to the Frenchman.
Laf in turn shrugged: “It’s a past life thing, mon ami, we knew him. He thought he recognized you, but we explained, so that it wouldn’t be awkward.”
“Ah, thank you.” Alex said, curiosity sated and suspicions confirmed, “Why was that so hard to say?”
John threw his hands up in the air and snapped: “Because you are really similar to someone we knew and it still kinda sucks that you either aren’t him or aren’t remembering.”
Then he got up and sat somewhere else, the pit of guilt already forming in Alex stomach, he just had to keep fucking up, didn’t he?
Herc noticed and tried to comfort him: “Don’t take it to personally, Alex. You’re still great and we’re glad we know you. John was just close with the other Alex, well, Alexander.”
It didn’t really help and Alex just nodded, deciding to just keep his head down for now, not wanting more attention then necessary right now. Especially knowing who was standing in front of the board.
Of course the intention of keeping his head down did not last long and before he was really aware of what he was doing, he was ripping into this kid, Chris something or whatever. It didn’t matter, he was dumb and his opinions were shit, and Alex was letting him know.
“How on earth can you think that General Gates would have been a better leader for the Revolution instead of, oh, I don’t know, the Father of Founding Fathers, General and President Washington, who lead the American troops to victory?” he argued angrily.
“Washington took unnecessary risks and suffered many humiliating defeats that General Gates could have prevented.” the other kid sniffed.
“Those risks, as you like to call them, paid off.” Alex spat, “You’re sitting here because of them, deserving or not, and I suggest you pay better attention so you can realize how absurdly wrong you are.”
It looked like the kid was going to say something else, but before he could, John had stood up and threatened: “If you don’t keep your fucking mouth shut, it will meet my fist. Don’t test me.”
“Mr.-” Washington began.
“Lawson, sir.” John supplied
“Mr. Lawson, as much as I can appreciate discussions, I have to ask you keep the violence to yourself since it will not be condoled in this classroom.” Washington said.
John sat down, but he’d kept glaring at the Chris kid for the rest of the lecture. Though he seemed to have cooled down at the end and less angry at Alex since he joined them again while walking out of class.
“Hey, sorry for overstepping earlier.” Alex told him, just in case.
“It’s alright, just fresh wounds, I shouldn’t have snapped at you.” John replied, he’s always had a big heart, “Besides, you made it up by fucking up that stupid Charles kid.”
“Charles? I thought he was named Chris.” Alex said, putting together why the argument had felt familiar, and getting a few snorts.
“You got really into that debate.” Lafayette said, a silent push to explain hung unsaid in the air.
Alex shrugged: “I’m an immigrant, I tried my whole life to get onto American soil, read all about the history and it irks me that privileged fucks like that don’t realize how fucking lucky they are to be born here. I know the Founding Fathers did some fucked up shit, of course, but, I don’t know, it’s hard to explain.”
“Nah, I get it.” John slung an arm around his shoulders and pulled him a side hug. Alex went willingly, the novelty at being allowed to do this was still amazing.
They talked some more as they walked when a black girl in a mellow pink top stalked her way over to them. Herc asked: “What the hell did you all do to piss her off.”
“Hey, I did nothing!” John exclaimed offended.
Lafayette looked scared, but turned up his sweetest smile as he asked the girl: “Hello, mademoiselle, what can we do for you?”
“I’m hosting a party, you’re invited.” she told them, “All of you. I’m Angie.” then she rattled off an address and a date, “Don’t miss it.”
“Wouldn’t dream off it.” Laf managed before she was gone.
The four of them shared a look and Alex said: “Was it just me or was that weird.”
He looked to the girls retreating back and saw her meet up with two other girls. One of them had wide eyes as she said something to Angie, then looked their way, blushing when she locked eyes with Alexander.
“No, that was definitely weird.” Herc assured him, snapping him back to the conversation.
“But it’s a party.” John cheered, “We have to go, I missed parties over the winter break, god the Christmas Galas were not something I looked forward to, but this will be fun.”
“Christmas Galas?” Alex raised a brow as a shit-eating grin crept onto his face.
John pushed him away with a fuck off and Alex silently mourned the presence of a warm arm over his shoulders as he tried to focus on John telling him about his father who was a Senator in South Carolina.
They laughed at John for a moment, before Alex mused: “You think it would be okay to drag my roommate with me? He never does anything fun, I want him to loose the stick that crawled up his ass.”
“Just take him.” Herc said.
“Yeah, what’s the worst that can happen?” Laf added.
Alex grinned and said: “You don’t want me to answer that. I am a chronic over-thinker with a tendency for the negative.”
“Try me.” Lafayette challenged.
“Well at this rate he murdered her previous lover, probably, and she kills him in return, she seems severe enough to pull it off and then I was there and I get charged just for being an accessory and my visa gets revoked and I get deported.” Alex theorized, taking small joys in bouncing off the truth for Aaron, though he had not realized how close to the truth he was for their invitee.
John laughed and ruffled his hair: “You’re a tiny idiot.”
“Like you’re one to talk. You’re hardly taller than me.” Alex pouted, his new life had not granted him more height sadly while it seemed that everyone elses had.
They traded more jabs as they walked before they had to split up for their dorms. He threw open the door and greeted Aaron, who startled violently at the noise, with a: “I have been invited to a party and you are going. I cannot let you die of being a boring nerd.”
“Alexander, do you want me to remind you of how much time you spend on your own studies?” Aaron asked, he had grown less skittish around him through time, especially when Alex showed no signs of remembering.
“Yeah, but I don’t have a stick up my ass.” Alex whined, “Come on, Aaron, please. Just for once in your life do something other than being the prime student who has no opinions.”
He watched as emotions warred on Aarons face. It was a low blow to call upon his last life while the other couldn't bring it up, an ultimate guilt trip.
“Alright.” but it worked.
Alex cheered and told him that it was that weekend, before plopping down at his desk and starting up his laptop, planning to finish the essay Washington had assigned for the end of the month, three weeks away.
~~~~~~
Sorry for my Google Translate French, I gave up on learning the language when I was twelve. The convo was this:
A: “I speak French!”
L: “Someone else who speaks the most beautiful language in the world!”
A: “I must say I’m quite fond of it, yes.”

All In | Brock Boeser
Summary: You’re stuck between a rock and a hard place, or well, between being Brock’s friend and being more than that, and one camping trip might be exactly what you need to decide officially where you stand.  Words: 3.3k Note: listened to “in betweenin” by AUSTN while writing this
Technically you’d known this was a bad idea the second he’d brought it up. But then he’d stared at you with those bright blue eyes of him and pouted his bottom lip, mumbled a “ah, come on, babe” and suddenly you found yourself packing a bag filled mostly with mosquito spray and leaping into his car, Coolie panting into your ear with excitement.
There’s a few things that make going camping with Brock such a bad idea, and you have the list solidly memorized.
You hate bugs, and forests have a lot of bugs.
It’s really busy at work and your home is a pig sty and you have a lot of things to do that do not include hanging out in a tent with your best friend.
You have no idea how to even set up a tent.
Spending a whole weekend with only Brock and his dog – who you love dearly, but that’s not the point – is probably not gonna do massive favors for your enormous crush on him.
Point 1 becomes a problem the second you step out of the car. You’re happy to be out, because although it was lots of fun to listen to Brock chatting and then singing along to country songs in the most ridiculous way, your ass hurts from being cooped up in his Range Rover for so long, and you’re pretty sure there’s dog drool on your shoulder because Coolie kept trying to climb into the front seat.
But then you hear the annoying buzz of mosquitos in your ear and it takes everything in you to not just jump back in and drive home.
Point 2 is easily pushed to the back of your mind because, well, your boss is an asshole anyway, and nobody really sees your house except you and Brock, and Brock’s apartment back in Vancouver is twenty times worse, so he’s not allowed to judge.
Point 3 turns out not to be such a big problem at all, because the second Brock has the car unloaded, he sends you a grin.
“I have a feeling I’m on my own with this tent situation, here, aren’t I?”
“Ah, and they said hockey players aren’t smart!” you tease, dropping down onto the floor where Coolie is laying chewing on a stick. “How about I’ll be here for mental support?”
So that leaves point 4.
You stare at your best friend as he meticulously sets up the tent. It’s clear that he’s done this a million times before; you know that, because you’ve been camping with him before. But it’s never been just him. It’s always been everyone in your friend group, and although you’ve always been the closest to him, it’s a little weird to be alone with him now.
Mostly because you have no idea why. Why didn’t he just invite the others? Why did he even invite you? After what happened last summer, you weren’t sure you would ever see him again.
Minnesota, especially the part where you’re from, is hardly the most exciting place in the world, and the town’s residents always find a way to entertain themselves, may it be with country fairs or horse races or firework shows for no reason at all. Summer is your favorite season because it means everyone gets outside, enjoys the rays of sun warming up the dirt on the ground, enjoys the wind through the wheat fields. It also means Brock comes home.
You’ve known him for years; when he left for Vancouver, you were his biggest supporter, the loudest voice telling him he needed to go. But you’d be lying if you said it hadn’t broken your heart in two to see him leave.
See, it was always supposed to be him. You’d expected it, and in a way, everyone had expected it. Best friends since childhood, when you tried skating and fell, and Brock helped you up and brought you to his parents to get your bloody knee patched up. Spending summers together throwing footballs and swimming in the lake; best friends in high school even though he fell in with the popular crowd, being everyone’s favorite athlete, and you were simply another girl who was seen most often with her nose buried in the books. He had even been your first kiss, nervous glances and the sweet taste of cotton candy on your lips as he’d kissed you on top of the ferris wheel at the country fair when you’d been 15.
“They’re gonna get married one day,” your mom had joked when you’d been 7, and she’d repeated that joke every 4th of July BBQ party when Brock pushed you on the swing, or pushed you into the pool, or pushed your limits until you yelled at him.
And then he’d left.
Suddenly there was no more joking talk of marriage, no more Brock to hold your hand through scary situation or laugh at you for being a wimp, no more best friend.
Except during the summers. During summer, for a few months, he was yours again. And it was so easy to pretend nothing had changed.
“Hey, kiddo,” he’d say as he barged into your back yard, his familiar ‘everything is fine, I’m here’-smile that you’d gotten so used to. You’d growl at him to stop calling you that, and then you hugged him, and everything would be fine again.
Until he left. Again.
It was a routine; you knew what to expect every year and you liked it that way. You no longer expected him to be your happily ever after, but you knew for sure he was going to be part of it. He was going to be in your life forever.
Except, well, then he kissed you.
It had been just a year ago, right before he left to go back to Vancouver. In fact, it was his last night in Minnesota and he’d opted to spend it with you in his back yard, instead of going out to the bar with all your other friends. You hadn’t wanted to go with them cause it had been only a week since your boyfriend –or, technically, ex boyfriend – had broken up with you and you were still not happy about it.
Although you also couldn’t say you were really sad. It was weird, and you’d decided the best way to deal with it was to just not think about it.
You sat watching the fire, nursing a now lukewarm beer, and Brock had gone to get some new, colder beers. There was something burning in your chest that had been there for a few days, that you hadn’t quite been able to put a finger on, hadn’t quite been able to place.
Your ex had broken up with you because he didn’t “want to compete with someone who’s already the center of your world”. You hadn’t even really known what he’d meant by that.
“Hey,” a familiar voice mumbled behind you and you felt one warm hand on your shoulder, at the same time something cold pressed into your back.
You yelped and turned around, and Brock laughed, easily and melodic, before handing you the beer. The fire was casting shadows on his face and it made him look almost ethereal, made his blue eyes shine and his cheekbones sharper, a blue baseball cap covering his golden locks, and he’d never looked more beautiful than he did in that moment.
That’s when you realized. You were in love with your best friend.
“I’m gonna miss you, you know,” Brock said, sitting down next to you; a little too close, the outside of his thigh touching yours, and even through the layers of your jeans and his sweatpants, your skin tingled.
Fuck.
“Yeah, me too,” you managed to bring out.
“You’re sad,” Brock noticed, frowning, and then he softly said: “That guy is an asshole.” He reached out and brushed some hair away from your face, even though it wasn’t really in your face, definitely not enough to bother you.
You bit your lip. Your ex hadn’t been an asshole, he’d simply been observant, more observant than you. He’d known your heart was Brock’s before you’d even realized you wanted to give it to him.
“It’s fine,” you told your best friend – just your best friend, you reminded yourself – and you smiled at him weakly. “I guess I’m just not, you know, the kinda girl guys want to be with long term.”
You’d said it in a way to explain the breakup to Brock, because you couldn’t very well tell him the truth, but all it earned you was a strangled noise from the back of Brock’s throat as he growled: “That’s bullshit” and then suddenly he leaned in and his lips were pressed against yours. He tasted like beer and smelled like forest and dirt roads and laundry detergent and you were pretty sure your heart was swimming in your stomach, and nothing had ever felt like that; nothing with your ex, nothing with Jimmy in high school, or Matt in college.
You knew, then, that you’d been right from the beginning. It had always been Brock.
Except the next day he’d left for Vancouver and neither of you had ever mentioned the kiss again. Your friendship continued through texts and calls and Facetime, and when the Canucks came to play the Wild you’d made the drive with his family to cheer him on, and he’d hugged you, but it had been like all the times before.
Like he was your best friend.
This summer, you were nervous for him to get home, but then he’d walked into your back yard with a grin and said: “Hey, kiddo.” And that’s how you knew nothing was going to change.
He was never going to be yours, and that’s okay, you could learn how to deal with that.
Except, well. Staring at the lines in his stomach as he wipes his face with his shirt is not really dealing with it, and neither is the way you forget how to speak when he finally turns to you.
“Tent is done. Wanna head to the boat?” He doesn’t even wait for your answer; he knows you better than anyone, knows you’ve always loved the water more than you love being on land, something about the calm steadiness of the waves calming you down. The lake is your favorite place and his dad never really uses the boat anymore, so Brock kinda has a duty to give it some exercise.
“Come, Coolie,” he calls for the dog as he picks up the cooler and starts towards the dock, and you follow him.
The day is just like they always are in summer, except with a few less people. Nobody is yelling at you to change the music, it’s just Brock quietly humming along. He lets you drive the boat for a while, while he excitedly talks about all the parts of the engine he’s going to replace – as if you know what any of that means – and the beers in the cooler don’t go nearly as fast with just two people, but fast enough that your head is spinning when you get back to shore.
Or maybe that’s because there’s little droplets of water dripping from Brock’s hair onto his back, and the muscles are rippling deliciously under his skin as he skillfully parks the boat back on the dock, the orange evening skies bringing a golden glow to his hair.
Coolie jumps out of the boat and trots towards the tent, and Brock takes your hand to help you out the boat. It rocks a little as you step onto the edge and you flinch, reaching for him in a reflex and grabbing his shoulder.
He laughs quietly. “Relax, I’ve got you,” he mumbles, as he puts his hands around your waists and lifts you from the boat onto the safety of the dock.
There’s no reason for the butterflies in your stomach, absolutely none, and that thought makes you a little sick.
“I’ll start the fire,” you tell him. “You get the stuff from the boat.”
Because God knows you need a little space to breathe if you’re going to make it through tonight.
It’s strangely comfortable and nice to be out in nature with just Brock, even despite all the nerves in your stomach and those awful mosquitos in your ear, and you could very easily get used to this, which is exactly why you need to get away. But it’s only a few minutes before Brock joins you, raising an eyebrow at your pathetic attempt of a fire pit.
“What are you doing?” he asks, laughing quietly to himself. “I know you can do better than that, babe, come on now.”
And he really shouldn’t be calling you babe because the reason the fire isn’t working is because you can’t bloody focus, and now he’s here and it’s going to be so much worse.
“Let me do it,” he says, as you throw down a block of wood in frustration. “You feed Coolie.”
The dog’s tail wags at the mention of food and you huff in annoyance before starting on your new task. It’s extra annoying when you come back in less than five minutes and Brock has the fire burning.
He’s sitting cross legged on the floor, poking the fire with a stick, and he grins up at you as you join him.
“You’re losing your outdoorsy touch,” he teases. “It’s clear I’ve been gone for a while.”
He’s been gone for 7 months and 2 weeks, since Christmas, but you bite your lip and stay silent, because it’s probably a tad weird that you know that.
Brock shifts, then, and suddenly his arm is lightly touching your side, his knee pressed into your thigh.
“You’ve been a bit quiet today,” he hums, and you feel yourself tense.
Damn, you thought you’d been hiding it well.
“You okay?”
“Fine.” The answer comes too quickly, your voice too unsteady, and Brock notices it, cocking one eyebrow.
“You know you can tell me stuff, right?” he pushes. “Is it work, stressing you out? Your mom being nosey again? Is it me, should I not have taken you here?” The last part comes out a little shaky and there’s a genuine worry in his eyes, and suddenly, you can’t take it anymore. It’s like everything that’s been building up comes washing out, adrenaline coursing through your body as you jump up.
“You know what, no, you shouldn’t have.” Your words are harsh and you can see how hard they hit Brock, because his body literally recoils away from you, color draining from his cheeks. “Why did you, Brock?”
“Because I want to spend time with my best friend, who I haven’t seen for months,” he answers defensively.
“Bullshit,” you bite. “Why didn’t you invite anyone else, then? We do this every year, and it’s never just the two of us. Why now?”
Coolie lifts his head at the loud tone of voice and seems to quickly decide this is not a situation he wishes to be part of, retreating into the tent.
You can’t blame him. You kinda wish you could follow the dog.
Something darkens Brock’s eyes as he speaks, this time. “You know why, Y/N.”
“Except I really don’t!” You throw your hands up in exasperation. “What are we, Brock?”
This is it. The part where it gets messy, where you’re going to say everything you haven’t before. Because you can’t keep doing this, can’t keep feeling like this. Like you’re being torn apart, stuck between being his friend and wanting to be more.
“Because all I know is that we’re more than friends, but less than lovers.” Tears are pushing at the back of your eyes as you speak and you can taste something bitter at the back of your tongue.
Brock is standing, now, and he takes one step closer to you, his arm outreached but not quite close enough to actually touch you.
“What do you want us to be?” His voice is soft, eyes gentle, and now you really feel like crying. Could he not just for once be less than perfect? Actually yell at you? Make it easier for you, to give him the ultimatum you’re about to give him?
“I feel like I’m caught in these feelings that I have for you. That I’ve had for such a long time,” you whisper, stepping back from him. “And when I’m with you, I feel on top of the world. I don’t know what you want from me but I know I can’t keep doing this.” You take a deep breath.
“I can’t keep being your friend that you kinda flirt with, that you kinda treat like more than a friend but only sometimes. Because I’m so freaking in love with you, Brock, and it hurts. So…”
There it goes. Everything you’ve known. It could be gone after this sentence.
“So I’m drawing the line in the sand. I can’t pretend I don’t want you, so you can love me or leave me, but we’ve gotta be all or nothing. I can’t be in between.”
Brock blinks, once, than speaks; the world fall from his lips surprisingly easy.
“I love you.”
Okay, now you’re confused. “Huh?”
He laughs and the sound rings through your ears; you’re not sure if you’re dreaming, when he steps closer and carefully takes your hand to lace his fingers through yours.
“Y/N,” he says slowly, as if he’s trying to talk to a kid with a temper tantrum, “I love you. I’ve always loved you. You were the one that didn’t come to say goodbye last summer, so I thought you were mad at me for the kiss.”
Oh.
Oh.
“I was just nervous, I didn’t know what I was supposed to do,” you whisper, your eyes falling to the ground because you can feel your cheeks heat up in shame and you can’t quite force yourself to face him.
“I only dropped it cause I thought that’s what you wanted me to do,” Brock says, lifting one finger to your chin to force you to look up at him. The second your eyes lock with his, you feel yourself getting lost. “You say we’re all or nothing, but that was never really the choice for me. I’ve never been in between.” He shrugs, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips. “I’ve always been all in, kiddo. Sometimes I think I’ve been all in since the moment I met you.”
You can’t stop yourself. “Don’t call me kiddo.”
He laughs and suddenly you’re laughing too; everything seems silly, now, and you can hear your mother’s voice in your head.
They’re gonna get married one day, you know.
“You really want this.” It’s not a question, because you know Brock wouldn’t lie to you and you can read the truth in his eyes.
“So, no kiddo. How about baby?” Brock wonders out loud. “Would that suit you better?”
“Maybe.”
“Pumpkin? Sweetheart? Honey? Doll? Muffin?”
You pull a face. “Eww, don’t you dare.”
Brock smiles. “Hey, can I kiss you now?”
A happy sigh falls from your lips. “I thought you’d never ask.” And then his lips are against yours and everything falls into place, just like you always knew they would.
“You all in?” he mumbles against your lips, just as you’re about to get lost in his touch, and it’s that same question he asks four years later when you’re wearing a white dress and he’s wearing his best suit and all your loved ones are standing around you in a circle as you dance, your face pressed into the crook of his neck as you try to hide the fact you literally haven’t stopped smiling since the ceremony.
“You all in, Mrs. Boeser?” he mumbles against the side of your head, and you smile.
“Always.”

Hi! Do you have any tips on figuring out your gender? I don’t really feel like a girl or a boy I just kinda wanna exist as a human and not really conform to either? Idk if that made any sense but thank you!
Hot tips for advanced gender:
1. Don’t worry, it’s fake and made up. If you don’t feel like your assigned gender, or a binary gender, that’s just because they are very ill-defined societal roles that are rapidly losing relevance in the modern world. It is no longer necessary for society to sort us into a strict man-woman system, but since it’s been the norm for most of us for so long, it’s really hard to think outside of it. Even being nonbinary myself, I still look at people and pretty well the first thing my brain does is sort them into one of two categories. It’s something we all have to work on.
2. Don’t be afraid of changing your mind. Getting set into one identity can make you feel a part of a community, but it can also make you feel stuck. IDing as one specific gender identity isn’t bad, but it’s also okay to change your mind, or go with broader terms while you’re still getting to know yourself. There’s nothing wrong with trying an identity to see if it works for you and then changing your mind. For example, I may not always identify as nonbinary or agender, and that’s okay! It’s a tricky thing, figuring out what you are in a world that says you have to be one thing, and the road may not even have an end.
3. Focus less on your gender and more on other aspects of your personality. If you decide that a gender is not part of who you are, you need to know what is. Identifying as something you aren’t leaves you with a bit of a void, and it’s important to anchor yourself to other kinds of communities and interests. Again, as a personal example, I don’t meet up with women for the purposes of discussing women things, because I’m not a woman and I don’t want to. If I didn’t replace that kind of sorority with something, I’d be pretty lonely. So instead I do drama, and crafts, and dnd and things like that.
4. Find IRL people to discuss the matter with. Tumblr can be a pretty intense, negative space sometimes. It’s good to find people in your community, at school, etc., where you can meet other nonbinary folks in person. Universities are generally really good for that, but I have no idea what age you are, anon, so I’m sorry if that one doesn’t work for you.
5. Restaurants are like, the number one place where you’ll get gendered for some reason, so if you can avoid them, do it.
6. Don’t be afraid to dress in a gendered way if it makes you happy. Sometimes I avoid looks for being too feminine, but it’s you who makes the outfit. The outfit does not make you.
7. Go on walks? This is kind of a weird one, but the time I spend just walking around outside under trees, listening to music, is a very good time for me to just connect with myself. I feel apart from expectations of what I’m supposed to be as a girl, and I can just have fun moving. Being in nature is especially nice. It gives me that feeling like it doesn’t matter what people think I am, because it genuinely doesn’t. Your connection to yourself matters far more than how others perceive you. We’re all a part of something bigger than ourselves.
9. Keep track of your thoughts, it will help if you want or need to explain your feelings more in-depth. Relationship to gender is complicated for a lot of us, but if you’re trying to explain that to a cis person, God help you. For people who do connect with their gender, the idea of not having one at all makes no sense. You don’t owe them an explanation, but if you want to, just know that it’s very difficult and annoying, and try to prepare for it.
10. Most importantly, stay sensible and safe. If you do decide that no gender or a nonbinary gender is for you, know that people around you in general will not see it automatically. Be rational if you are going to correct someone, and don’t feel ashamed of keeping it to yourself for any reason. Your safety is important. If you are uncomfortable disclosing your gender, then don’t. You don’t have to. You’re not letting anyone down, you’re staying safe, and that is vital. I tend to be pretty blasé about my identity, but I know how much it matters to others. Being misgendered sucks. Being cooped up into a set of gender roles sucks. Feeling like you’re in danger if you speak up SUCKS. But find those safe spaces, make friends, and you’ll find the respect and community you deserve.
As long as you are questioning, know that you belong. Even if you decide that a binary gender is for you, that you aren’t trans or LGBT+ at all, you will learn more about yourself, and that’s a wonderful thing. I wish you the very best of experiences in this journey.
All the best,Lin.
