Started school two weeks ago and it's kinda crushing me but it's okay because I passed the first and only filter for sec gen of my school's mun. Please wish me good luck! some fun headcanons for my fellow students. please take these with a grain of salt, obviously I don't know them personally and these are just meant to be fun :) word count: 1.1 k (ca 140 for each) a/n: this is for a very niche target audience but it makes sense in MY head. also I have exams in less than 2 weeks so this is kind of representative of where my mind is at rn. and PSA if you're also an IB student please don't actually skip TOK <3

he's such a drama kid and he would take it even in IB, so theatre and korean lit would be his HLs

I feel like he would take bio and psych sl purely out of curiosity and then immediately regret it when he realizes how much content there is (but would be really good at psych)

aa sl!!! no particular reason tbh I just think he's kind of smart

doesn't understand tok. like...... at ALL. is saved by the fact that his psychology EE is pretty good because he pretty much flunks tok miserably

CAS defender because "guys it builds character I think it's great that we all do volunteer work :))" bless his heart

genuinely puts SO much time and effort into his cas and regrets it in the end but it looks cool on his resumé

psychology and korean lit HL, probably takes VA too but maybe as sl. he gives such lit vibes I feel like he would totally be a literature kid

chinese ab!!!! and maybe ESS because he can and doesn't like science <3

AI SL just because he's so social science but he gets 6s and 7s because it's too easy for him <3

basically he's all the social science subjects but because they're FUN not because they're easy :)

definitely chinese lang/lit and korean ab (he could definitely do korean B but he can't be bothered)

you won't catch him anywhere without a comically large energy drink

completely numbed on the inside but also puts more effort in than everyone else and gets straight 7's

skips tok though because he can't be asked

does his EE on a very niche obsession of his and it gets a really good grade but he puts way too much effort into it

everyone wants to learn his ways but he doesn't do study groups because he gets too annoyed lmao. WILL tell juniors chatting in the library to stfu

he will complain about anything and everything any chance he gets but also catch him getting that 45 at the end of the day.

he would complain SO MUCH about group 2 btw he's one of those science kids who really doesn't want to do 2 languages lol

really only cares about music to be honest but does the sciencey subjects because he thinks they're cool and gets pretty good grades

the type to do a hyper specific science IA and spend way too much time on it just for shits and giggles because he likes pouring things into beakers and swirling them

unintentionally does the most for his CAS, like "oh a service??? yeah I've been tutoring guitar for like 6 months does that count" and genuinely fails to see how other people struggle with it

also excells at tok, like genuinely writes an amazing philosophical TOK essay and gets full marks

ironically cares so little about IB but somehow does so well because he genuinely likes his subjects (and has an iq of like 150)

wants to do more languages than he's allowed because he's just built like that, he likes flexing his multilingualism

HL english lang/lit, french B, history. SL AA, bio, chem, psych

is annoyingly good at all his subjects like HOW are you doing all that and remembering everything?? secretly kind of a genius

does the mostest for his IAs for absolutely no reason other than he's just interested in his subjects and wants to do fun projects :)

also genuinely likes CAS for the same reason (play sports feed stray cats, what's not to like?)

super ambitious classmate who is somehow the only one still sane and always happy

encourages everyone before tests and exams like "come on guys we can do it!! :)"

probably business management HL too, but I could see him doing psych as well!! I think he'd enjoy the human relationships option

to be honest he only really cares about visual art (does his EE in it and regrets it every day) and his social science a liiittle bit, other than that he's just doing exactly as much as he needs to pass

favourite part is ironically CAS because he has an excuse to volunteer at dog shelters and play basketball with his friends :)

also takes tok SUPER seriously- he will lead class discussions and get into heated debates about stupid shit like if newspeak would work in real life

AA sl and japanese ab because that's just his vibes

kind of overworked but is always helpful and shares notes with his classmates :)

does his EE in economics and ends up getting way too invested in it and becomes obsessed with economic development policies or something niche like that (nerd but affectionately <3)

very stressed and overworked but he WILL get those grades at the end of the day <33

I'm fucked for chem

been consistently getting single digit marks on my paper 3s!! this is such wonderful news I can't wait to fucking fail ib

whatever. it's too late to sulk. I just have to try my hardest to not fail chem. besides I can afford to get a 2 in this so it'll be ok. I just have to pass. once friday's exam is over I have to focus on econ and bio because they are HLs and I can't afford to fail those!!! I can do this I can do this I can do this I can do this I can do this I can do this

econ will be ok. bio will be ok. it will all be ok. I just have to keep trying and believe in myself. I can cry about the exam after everything is over and done with. there's only one week left before you're free from this shit and you can put attention into everything else.

SL environmental studies (cmon he's a durast!), SL econs (idk he just seems like an econs lad), SL maths (he probably hates maths)

HL lang lit (don't ask me why he just has those vibes), HL theatre arts (i bet he'd be a theatre kid) and HL global politics or geo or maybe even psych (seems like a guy who wants to know more about the world and understand people better!)

also yes he is a humanities person and a theatre kid because i said so

and and and as an extracurricular he would totally do some kind of service like teaching kids arts & crafts or something

Okay so I’m gonna try do the summer study challenge - I’m only gonna post the questions on a weekly basis at a Minimum, I might do more frequently but I doubt it😅

Summer studying challenge (days 1 and 2)

13th July -  What are your plans for this summer?

Right now to finish up my enrolment for uni and to prepare for the calibration exam they have (it’s basically to see how I am in chem/physics/maths, if I do poorly in any then I’ll get extra tutoring in that subject). Uhh I need to head down to the uni itself to check out the accommodation and I need to get things sorted for moving out! 

14th July - Have your plans changed at all because of the pandemic?

Ooooh yeah definitely. We were planning a long, month long holiday because it’d finally be all three of us (my siblings and I) done with schooling - them done with uni and me done with highschool, but we couldn’t do that :(. I was also planning on volunteering at the rabbit shelter again and do kickboxing twice a week but both of those are put on hold too rip

14/100 days of productivity

hiii! today we had a university kick off for juniors so i came home around NINE PM.

i just finished my HL econ project, took some notes on periodicity for chem, and an annotating some articles for HL langlit. phew.

i attempted to work on my chem lab, but i think i’ll just leave that for the weekend when i have more time to actually calculate stuff and use my brain.

now i have to answer a few questions for TOK and go to bed! the week is almost over folks 🥳🤞

Exam season is upon us

And it can be easy to get swept up and filled with anxiety. Remember that these exams will pass and everything will work out in the end, as cheesy as that sounds.

Remember not to burn yourself out. My friend made a lovely schedule for me to study for my Paper 1 Chem exam on Monday. It’s as follows:

- Spend Friday reviewing a unit you like, do other course work, relax

- Saturday workworkwork, review, do math, whatever you NEEDA do to feel comfortable

- Sunday, a chill day, review units you’re still not 100% on, but don’t burn yourself out the night before your exam, be well rested

And can I say what a blessing?? She’s lovely and great at chemistry so I tend to follow her advice for things like this.

BUT

Remember that not all study methods work for everyone,, my friend made this full well knowing what kind of learner I am and how much I value sleep. Create notes that help you, they don’t have to be pretty, they can be simple.

My best study notes I made were just a series of cue cards to study for the hell called Stalin Week at our school, and since then I try to use that note taking method.

With a new semester around the corner, take time to understand how you learn best and implement it :)

I'm going to fail the math exam

it's in the title.

I feel like throwing up because fuck math. actually, it's not math's problem, it's mine. I want to just give up. I haven't been doing the review homework consistently and now I'm nearly 4 days behind. I'm actually so so fucked for my exam on monday/tuesday and I feel like crying and screaming because at this point I'm actually going to fucking fail ib. if not because of math then it'll be because of chem or econ or bio. especially bio. god.

I haven't started reviewing for anything other than math and that's going to come bite me in the ass hard. I want to just throw math but I can't even do that because I might genuinely fail the fucking subject if I do

I haven't started reviewing stats/probability, calc is going to utter shit right now, and I want to just. not try. I know I can't though because I don't want to fail ib just because of this stupid feeling after putting in 2 years of my life for this shit.

it'll be pretty pathetic if I end up not getting the diploma because I fail bio or something. or if I got below a 3 in anything (honestly very likely for math and chem and bio right now)

I seem to think that the only way I can be valid in failing in shit is to make myself feel utterly miserable and hate myself to the point of wanting to sh or end my life when that is the stupidest shit ever. I'm just trying to make excuses for my shitty work ethic with self-imposed reasons. I have awful impulse control and a monkey brain that's just prioritizing temporary pleasure over long-term well-being but god fucking damnit it is hard to keep studying.

consistently getting every. single. fucking question. wrong. even the easy ones!!! is some of the most demoralizing shit ever. it's just so much easier to label myself as being stupid or dumb instead of trying. trying is so tiring. it takes so much energy. I'm aware I sound like a privileged little fuck (because that is honestly what I am being right now) but god.

I won't be surprised if I'm not even able to answer half the questions for either math paper.

anyways rant mostly over. I should get back to calc now. I think I'm just going to finish the chapter 21 MP and then OSC math vids for stats/prob -> try to finish as much topic 4 RV done as possible

I'm going to just go straight into past papers tomorrow. going to finish all the ones I have printed out tomorrow. it's ok if I sleep late because it's a 1pm exam anyways so I just need to wake up before 11

I am praying to whoever is available to please have mercy on us an give a reasonable math paper that I can at the very fucking least get a 2 on. preferably 3. but I will take a 2 over a 1 any day.

I just. want to pass ib. is that too much to ask? get good enough scores to meet uni conditions and just. pass the fucking ib. just enough to get 12 overall HLs, nothing lower than a 3, 24 overall. I don't think it's too unreasonable to want that right? I'm not asking for too much am I? I just want to pass but that still feels impossible.

english paper 1 was awful. I shouldn't be thinking about it but I really really really hope the grade boundaries are ok this year because I think I will actually throw up if I fail.

I just want to go to uni. I just want to pass. please. please let me at least pass and be able to go to university.

ok enough rambling and complaining it's time to get back to doing integral calculus
