Ok but what if Ingo accidentally ate something his particular breed of Sneasel can’t. Like maybe for the regular breed it’s fine and Emmet didn’t think anything of it but… Hisuian Sneasels don’t share the same immunities as Johtoian Sneasels, they are quite literally an extinct breed of sneasel for a reason and probably didn’t adapt a tolerance for things a normal sneasel would have, like certain types of food that are poisonous or unhealthy to certain breeds of dogs that others that have developed a tolerance for.
I couldnt think of what he could have a reaction to so im just gonna not fill that in (if i had to pick something i was gonna pick raisins they casue kidney failure in dogs but i dont want to make it too serious sooooo)
Ok so hi writing liz here. I spent like so long on writing the set up. Its 3:22am and im still writing the set up. Ok i had a thought of taking the whole thing out and just writing the key points here then making a full post for what i have. Yea im gonna do that but im gonna leave this note here.
Another note. Its 4:05 and i just realised i wrote this whole thing for food poisoning instead of allergy. Sorry im having a spout of food poisoning myself at the moment so its just on the brain. Damn you local dominos.
Ok so key points only LETS GOO
Ingo tried to hide it from Emmet. Emmet does a lot for Ingo now and Ingo feels bad about it. He used to take care of Emmet.
I headcanon Ingo cooked for them and Emmet sucks at it.
Emmet knows Ingo feels bad about not being able to take care of Emmet, let alone himself, so Emmet has to keep a closer eye on Ingo since he wont tell him if something is wrong. So you just get Ingo poorly hiding his pain/sickness and Emmet hyper aware of Ingos state.
Im gonna say it gets pretty bad. Like Ingo is awake halfway throught the night stubbornly trying to tuff it out when hes just like “yea no something is very wrong i need help” so he goes to wake up Emmet, who is totally awake and totally wasnt about to drag Ingo to a pokemon center in the next five minutes. Emmet rushes him down and finds out its food poisoning. Which Emmet is completely surprised about because he researched everything Sneasels can and cant eat. He picked that food because it was supposed to be safe damn it. The nurse suggested maybe its because his typing is different.
Oh side note Emmet pretending Ingo is just his pokemon drives him up the wall. He hates making his brother feel like a lesser being.
Anyway Ingo has a good three days of recovery ahead of him. Hes tired. Hes in pain. Hes dehydrated. Hes shaky. And he cant keep anything in his stomach.
Now i have given myself food poisoning many many times (im banned from cooking chicken at 3am now) so i know it just sucks. No you arent leaving the house dont bother. You ate too weak to try probably. Drinking lots and lots of water feels like its doing nothing but doctors say it helps so *shrug* do it. It hardly matters what you eat it isnt staying long. Vomiting is the worst. Though tbh my stomach has serious acid lvl problems soooo idk i might be a bad example for how bad vomits should burn. Dehydration adds a lot of the symptoms tbh. If you share a bathroom with someone rip them, because you live in there now. Ok again im a bad example because i pretty much live in the bathroom as is. I shower when im sick. Like a lot. If im sick then i spends hours in there. At least if i have to vom im in the shower ya know. Idk. I should when i write these posts mostly.
So Emmet is going to take his normal levels of peotection of Ingo and dial them up to 11. He feels at fault for this after all. Ingo is too weak to shove his brother off right now. Emmet isnt going to work at all till Ingo is in full health again thats for sure. Queue sofa living. Emmet only left the house to go to the store to buy sports drinks and oatmeal. Maybe banana or two as well. You may think these are weird choices but trust me fam you dont want anything else. The sports drink gonna help with the dehydration and the oatmeal/bananas help keep your stomach in less of a mess. That is once you get to eat. When going through the main symptoms Ingo cant reslly eat or drink anything without making himself worse. Emmet hates it. I mean so does Ingo but duh. Seeing his brother in pain again is something Emmet never wanted to do. But its worse this time. He blames himself for his mistake. Even though there was literally no way for him to know, wel talking it over with Ingo but he thought he had it covered. Queue Ingo trying to comfort Emmet while sick making Emmet feel worse. I saw a headcanon that Emmet stress cleans so the whole time hes not by Ingos side hes cleaning something.
Once Ingo finds out what had been going on he can help keep his diet in order. He knows what hisuin sneasels can and cant eat after all. But thats not till everything is said and done.
Ok its 4:21am im done i got nothin else for this one. I do have like the other post in the works but my phone is at 4% so its gonna have to wait. Sorry i missed the allergy thingy. I dont have many food related ones. I assume Emmet gets worse off for stress because food allergies are crazy bad news. Your throat swells. You cant breathe. Oh Ingo could have died. Yea Emmet isnt good

a/n: hello hello hello! i have a prompt fill for this Dark!Stephen AU from @ironstrangeprompts and im just gonna post it before i can start second guessing my writing lmao
tw: mentions of torture, injury, implied past abuse
Prompt: Dark!Stephen AU. The avengers never really notice Stephen’s pacifist to-a-fault superheroing style until one day a magical incident corrupts him/magical entity possesses him. They’re treated to a completely unhinged and lethal Stephen, the avengers realize just how much Stephen was holding back, what with his quick work dispatching all of them, resulting in very heavy injuries. However, he takes special interest with Tony Stark, whom he has been dating for a few months now. He has Tony all strung up in the middle of the battlefield in front of the other broken and beaten avengers, he taunts and tortures him. “Being a doctor and a sorcerer is so very useful, I can break you in very precise manners, put you back together and then do it again.” When he gets bored of Tony’s screams and decides to end him permanently, Stephen suddenly snaps back to normal. The real Stephen has been battling internally to gain back control, knowing that he’s about to kill the love of his life gives him the final push to break free. He portals them all to safety and to receive medical help. Cue heavy angst and Stephen trying to make it up to them but especially Tony, who insists that everything is fine and that he knows it wasn’t the real Stephen. However they both know that Tony is just putting up a brave front and is undoubtedly traumatized by the incident. Up to the author on if they want to end it in a bleak or hopeful tone.
It took Tony a few minutes to register his surroundings when he woke up. He wasn’t lying in a makeshift coffin of bent metal, broken bones, and the ruins of the building. The familiar baritone, the melody of his waking world, wasn’t hollow and cruelly taunting him. Stephen sounded like himself, soothing and loving and reassuring but worried and tired all the same. Tony heard guilt in his partner’s voice, delineating his dream, his memory, from the present. He wanted to follow that voice, the real Stephen’s voice, and leave the past behind them. Guilt was eating away at Stephen as he tried to calm Tony down and wake him up. He defaulted to the standard promises and phrases when Tony had nightmares, but this time was different. This time Stephen was the cause of the nightmare, and he knew it. No matter how much Tony said it wasn’t his fault, that everything was okay, Stephen knew he had to repair the pieces of Tony’s trust he’d obliterated.
Tony thrashed again in his sleep, feebly kicking the air in front of him just like he did on the battlefield. “Stop!”
“Sweetheart,” Stephen began, unsure of what to say. “Tony, wake up. You’re safe, no one will hurt you.”
“Stephen!” Tony groaned and thrashed again, his eyes still shut as he fought to wake up. “This isn’t you… don’t do this.”
Stephen barely held back tears as he spoke again. “It’s over Tony, I’m back. I’m me again. I won’t hurt you, I promise I’ll never hurt you as long as I live.”
Tony was shaking when he finally woke up, unsure if he was even breathing. He opened his eyes hastily, studying the look on Stephen’s face. Stephen looked concerned, even worried, but unsure of himself as he murmured soothing nonsense to Tony.
“Breathe, Tones,” Stephen said. “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry. It’ll be okay, I promise. Just breathe, we’re alright. I’ll leave you be once I’m sure you’re okay, and—”
Tony wrapped his arms around Stephen and hugged him tightly. “Don’t you dare. Don’t go… please don’t go Stephen.”
“I can’t risk scaring you again Tony. I’ve already hurt you enough, it’s not fair to keep putting you through this,” Stephen argued, fighting his urge to hug Tony back.
Tony only held on tighter, determined not to let Stephen leave.
Stephen still wanted to disappear, but he quickly understood that Tony wouldn’t let him go that easily. The mechanic was still shivering and trembling, slowly starting to calm down as Stephen hesitantly hugged him back.
++++
They both woke up at the same time, almost four days later. Stephen woke up slowly, feeling like he was underwater or in a fog, while Tony started awake across town.
It was pitch dark in the room, the heavy curtains drawn shut to keep out any intrusive light. It was the middle of the day, judging by the clock Stephen kept on his nightstand, but he couldn’t feel the sun on his face, or see any light from his window. He was bathing in pitch black. At first, he thought he was dead, doomed to an eternity in darkness, when something red bloomed and came to life beside him. Even now, his Cloak was always dramatic, comforting as it covered him like a blanket.
As his eyes adjusted, Stephen registered Wong and Christine on the other side of the room, just studying him.
Christine was the first to meet his stare, rushing to his bedside. “How do you feel?”
Stephen grimaced in pain as he shrugged. “Not great, thanks.” There was something else on his mind, but he was too afraid to ask. He was almost too scared to hear the answer.
Luckily, Wong spoke up before Stephen could ask. “You slept for three and a half days, Strange. How much do you remember?”
“Something attacked the Compound… I think it was me,” he mumbled.
“Not exactly,” Wong began, gentler than Stephen had ever heard him.
“Possessed or not, I still attacked!” Stephen sat up, paying the price as he rose quicker than his body could handle. “It doesn’t matter if I saved everyone, not if I almost killed them first.”
Neither Wong nor Christine spoke, and the cloak simply wrapped tighter around Stephen’s shoulders.
“You did save everyone,” Wong said finally. “And you banished whatever entity possessed you. We still haven’t figured out what it is, but…”
Wong’s voice trailed off as Stephen stopped listening. His head started to hurt as he remembered, in searing detail, more of what happened and what caused him to snap out of the state he was in.
Tony was near silent, his voice failing him after hours of tortured screams. Somewhere, somehow, Stephen knew that he was the one hurting him, the one causing Tony so much pain even though he promised never to hurt the hero. He wanted to stop, to end all of the carnage he’d brought to the Compound, to his friends who were starting to feel like family, to Tony… but he couldn’t. The hand controlling his impulsive strings was strong and steady, and it wouldn’t rest until Stephen finished its bidding.
His movements were mechanical as he strode, like the marionette he’d become, to stand in front of Tony.
And Tony just looked at him with a defeated, almost calm look on his face.
Stephen’s voice sounded distorted when he spoke, preening with a twisted smile as he bent to look upon the man of iron. “Accepted your fate?”
“You won’t be the first person I’ve loved who’s hurt me,” Tony said, between pained breaths. “There’s nothing to say.”
Stephen tried to back up, to keep himself still, but he couldn’t fight the influence of his controller and struck Tony again. “Arrogance is unbecoming.”
Tony inhaled again, deeper and more pained this time but somehow even calmer. “Go ahead and finish the job. I won’t hold it against you, Stephen.”
Stephen was hyperventilating when he heard Wong’s voice again, pressed against the headboard of his bed like he was backed into a corner.
Christine approached him tentatively, resting her hand on one of his shoulders.
Stephen recoiled away from the touch and curled up on himself like a turtle retreating in its shell. He ducked his head under a pillow, shaking in fear and pain from moving too quickly. “Did I… did I kill him? I remember everything until I was about to… please tell me I—”
“You didn’t.” Christine cut him off, hoping to keep her friend from spiraling further. “Wong said you saved everyone, and that includes Tony.”
Stephen sobbed just hearing his partner’s name. Guilt wracked his entire body as he cried harder and harder, his magic running through his veins. Was he not this exhausted, he’d probably set fire to something from his high levels of stress and fear, but all he could do was cry until he fell into painful sleep.
++++
He didn’t finish it.
He didn’t listen.
Tony remembered the horrified look he saw on Stephen’s face, the remorse in his eyes as he sent a vaguely corporeal figure of dark energy through a portal.
Tony remembered the way Stephen apologized again and again as his eyes started closing, overwhelmed by the pain seizing his mind and body. A part of him hoped that Stephen had listened, that maybe the last thing he’d see in this life would be the face he’d come to absolutely adore…
… But he’d woken up sometime later in the MedBay, wanting to see Stephen more than anything. In spite of everything that’d just happened, or maybe because of everything that’d just happened, all Tony really wanted was to go back to sleep, preferably in his partner’s embrace. That really didn’t seem like too much to ask for.
“How are you feeling, Mr. Stark?”
Tony almost didn’t notice Peter pacing around on the ceiling, in fact he didn’t know his pseudo son was even in the room until he suddenly landed a few feet away. “I feel great, Kid. Definitely not like I took a ton of bricks to the face.” He didn’t remember the gory details of the fight, so Tony couldn’t say whether or not he was being literal.
“Welcome back, Boss,” FRIDAY said, a hint of worry in her voice. “And good morning. It’s currently half nine on Tuesday. I’ve been asked to inform you that Col. Rhodes has returned from Washington and has volunteered to lead all reconstruction projects for the Compound. He’s also asked me to keep you updated and will be coming to see you this afternoon.”
Tony sighed. “Thank you. Wait… that means Rhodey came back early?”
“He did,” FRIDAY replied simply. Her voice sounded like what a nod looked like as she continued. “Would you like me to tell him that you asked about him?”
“Sure, but don’t bother him. He doesn’t have to rush to see me,” Tony replied, knowing that Rhodey would probably come anyway. He was maybe the one exception to what Tony had told Stephen earlier, before…
“Col. Rhodes will be here within the hour,” FRIDAY announced.
“Thanks Fri.”
Peter, who had started pacing on the ceiling again, asked what Tony had been wondering since he woke up. “Where’s the Doc?”
“I dunno, Pete. I’ve been wondering that myself,” Tony admitted. “Fri, you wouldn’t happen to know… would you?”
“As far as I can tell, Doctor Strange returned to the Sanctum following the… altercation… on Thursday,” the AI reported.
“What? Altercation? What happened?” Peter landed on the floor again, looking more worried than Tony thought he deserved to.
“There was just a small wizarding mishap, don’t worry about it,” Tony said. He shrugged, trying to reassure Peter as much as he could. “Not even an emergency, Underoos. We would’ve called for you if it was.”
Tony also didn’t want Peter to see what happened. Maybe he was sheltering the kid, but he didn’t want Peter to ever find out about the attack on the Compound. It was bad enough that the team, even in their varied states of consciousness, saw what they did. They saw the fear in Tony’s eyes, saw him slowly surrender to Stephen’s ruthless attacks until he just stopped trying to fight the sorcerer. Tony knew he couldn’t parry these magical attacks, couldn’t break the spelled restraints… but he didn’t want Peter to see how easily he’d given up.
If Peter had more to say, he simply chose not to ask about it. Instead he just shrugged. “Glad you’re okay, Mr. Stark. May heard from Pepper that you got hurt, so I wanted to swing by… no pun intended.”
“How many times do I have to tell you that calling me ‘Tony’ is fine?” Tony asked, rolling his eyes warmly. “I’m fine, Pete. Not up for working in the lab today, I’m afraid, but—”
“That’s okay! My suit isn’t going anywhere, we can upgrade anytime,” Peter replied. “I promised May I’d be home for movie night, but I just wanted to come see you.”
Tony smiled softly. “You’re a good kid, Son. Get home safe, and I’ll give you a call when I’m back in working condition.”
“Thanks IronDad!” Peter was gone in a second, leaving Tony in the quiet with his thoughts.
“Fri?” He asked after a few minutes.
“Still here, Boss.”
“Will you… will you tell Stephen I want to see him?” Tony asked.
Maybe he was the spoiled brat everyone believed, or maybe he was exhausted and touch starved and showing signs of an addictive personality. Tony didn’t know, he didn’t care, and he just wanted his sorcerer back.
“I’ll let him know,” FRIDAY replied, softer than normal.
++++
“Stephen, it’s been days. Days since the attack, days since you holed yourself up in my library like you’re going into hibernation—”
“Good morning to you too, Wong.”
Wong may have laughed at Stephen’s attitude if he didn’t feel so bad for him. Stephen was completely out of it, so much so that he didn’t even realize how late in the day it was. “It’s almost eight, Strange.”
Stephen just sighed. “Did you need something from me?”
“Stark is asking for you again. I think you should see him.”
“You said that yesterday,” Stephen muttered.
“I’m saying it again now. I know you, Stephen, I can read you like any book in here.” Wong began. “You’re trying to outrun your guilt but you know it’s not that easy. Ignoring Tony isn’t going to make things go away, and it’s not going to make either of you feel better. He misses you, and I know you miss him too.”
“I don’t know how I can even look at him after what I did… he trusted me,” Stephen whispered, looking down at his lap. “I broke his trust.”
“Not willingly, and he knows that,” Wong reminded him. “It wasn’t you, Stephen.”
Stephen ignored him, beginning to tremble as he thought back to what Tony had said to him. “He told me he wouldn’t hold it against me… that I wasn’t the first of his loved ones to hurt him. I don’t know what I could do or say to prove to him, let alone to the team, that I’d never hurt them again.”
“Hiding away in here isn’t helping to prove that,” Wong said.
“You just want your chair by the window back,” Stephen accused him.
“Of course I do! But I also care about you and your happiness. If you need anyone to vouch for you, I’ll be here,” Wong replied.
“That sounds like you’ve made up my mind for me.”
“I have. Go now, before it gets too late.”
Stephen opened a portal to the tower, just outside of the lab. “I doubt Tony would be asleep, he’s always awake.”
His suspicions were confirmed as he closed the portal. Tony was in his lab where Stephen thought he’d be, a mug in one hand and a pen in the other.
Stephen’s entire body trembled with nerves as he opened the door, the cloak knocking loudly and dramatically to make his presence known.
“FRIDAY, Quiet Place Protocol please,” Tony said. He looked up and smiled sadly at Stephen as the lab’s usual blaring music shut off. “Hi.”
“Hey.” Stephen suddenly didn’t know what to do with himself. He was too scared to get any closer to Tony, afraid to hurt him, but at the same time all he wanted was to hug him.
The cloak made the first move, flying off of his shoulders and resting on Tony’s.
“Aww, hi Levy.” Of course Tony had a nickname for the relic, he had nicknames for everything and everyone.
Stephen found it annoying in the most heartwarming way, and he couldn’t help but smile as Tony sat down at his workbench.
“You can come over, you know?” Tony asked, half teasingly. “I told you I don’t bite, Steph.”
Stephen felt like a marionette again as he walked towards his boyfriend, but his heart was in control this time. He wanted to protect, to cherish, and to spoil the man in front of him with nothing but love and attention. He was just afraid, still unsure of himself as he studied Tony’s face. “I’m sorry.”
“Hey… I know.” Tony opened his palms on his lap, silently asking to hold Stephen’s hands.
Stephen let him, trembling harder as Tony held him gently. “I don’t know what happened, Tony. Something took over me, and I couldn’t stop it. I’ve never been overpowered like that before, and I didn’t know what to do. But please listen when I say that I promise it’ll never happen again, I mean that’s a given if you leave me, but—”
“I’m not leaving you,” Tony said firmly. “I know you weren’t voluntarily doing all of those things.”
“I never, ever wanted to hurt you. I still don’t want to hurt you.”
“You didn’t.”
“Tony…” Stephen took a deep breath, trying to steady himself. “Tony I could’ve killed you. The entire time I was trying to break the curse, to get that thing out of my system, I almost killed you. And you almost let me do it.”
“I did.”
Stephen didn’t know what to say. Tony had that calm, accepting look on his face mixed with a kind, trusting expression. It was the same look he’d given Stephen in the ruins of the Compound, and it hurt. It didn’t feel like an apology would be enough to make things right, but what else was there to do now? “I’m sorry, Tony.”
Tony slid his arms around Stephen’s waist and pulled him into the hug they’d both been needing. “I’m fine baby, it’s okay. It’s over.”
Stephen knew it wasn’t just over, and he knew Tony knew it too. But in the moment he was too fatigued to fight about it and let Tony hold him closer. “Have you been sleeping?”
“Trying to,” Tony replied. “Not to be cheesy or whatnot, but I do sleep better with you next to me.”
“May I take you to bed?” Stephen asked, sounding even shyer than when he normally asked that. “Please? I know it’s early, but I wouldn’t object to a nap.”
Tony nodded, shifting to press a chaste kiss to Stephen’s lips. “That sounds nice. FRIDAY, save and shut everything off please.”
“Engaging ‘You Shall Not Pass’ protocol, Boss,” FRIDAY reported dutifully.
Tony scoffed. “Remind me to never let you and Peter give Fri name suggestions again.”
“You could just change it if it bothers you that much.” Stephen chose to remind Tony of that instead, even though they both knew Tony was secretly fond of the movie references hidden in his protocols. “Besides, that serves you right for calling me Gandalf all the time.”
“If the shoe fits, babe,” Tony said. He stood up, keeping an arm wrapped around Stephen’s waist as they left the lab and headed for the elevators.
Despite feeling safe and loved in Tony’s arms, more than he could have ever hoped to be and probably more than he deserved, Stephen was still anxious. He felt out of place in the Tower, never mind the fact that he usually spent half of his time there, and he felt even more out of place amongst the team.
“How are the others?” He asked quietly, afraid to hear the answer.
“They’re getting better.” Tony saw no point in sugarcoating the truth. Stephen would see right through it, and that wouldn’t help him process everything. “Carol and Thor are both bored of training with each other, but no one else wants to spar with either of them yet. Or with Natasha, for that matter.”
“Does anyone ever want to spar with them on a good day?” Stephen asked, trying to keep the mood light.
“You’re all a bunch of sore losers who can’t rise to a friendly challenge” Natasha quipped, suddenly materializing in front of the couple. “Tony, what’s going on?”
“What do you mean?”
“Why is he here?”
“Natasha, I—”
Natasha pointedly ignored Stephen. She never disliked the sorcerer, she was actually indifferent and had no issues telling Tony that, but Tony’s trustful, rather soft nature was a concern of hers. It worked in her favor, sure, but she was really trying to be a better friend to Tony and look out for him more. It was this concern that motivated her to look at Stephen with disgust. Natasha wasn’t scared of him, she took heavy damage in the attacks but it was more minimal compared to some of the things she’d put his friends and family through.
Tony was acting as if none of that happened, and that couldn’t stand.
Natasha frowned and glared at Stephen as she addressed Tony. “Tony what the hell are you doing?”
“I’m not—”
“Don’t play dumb and tell me you’re not following. What are you still doing with him? You barely sleep more than an hour without waking everyone up screaming from phantom pain and nightmares! Do you think we can’t hear you yelling and begging for Stephen to stop torturing you and just kill you? Because we all do!” Natasha took a deep breath, pinching the bridge of her nose. “And after all that, you’re holding him like nothing is wrong? I don’t understand how you can be so forgiving sometimes.”
She stormed off before Stephen could defend himself or before Tony could respond. Her words echoed in Stephen’s head as Tony continued to lead him down the hallway, into the elevator, and into the penthouse.
Stephen sat dejectedly on the bed as Tony shuffled around the room, grabbing a few blankets from the closet. He didn’t say anything as Tony made a little nest of pillows and blankets, the cloak joining the haphazard pile the minute Tony curled up under a throw. Eventually Stephen allowed himself to lay down, offering no protests as Tony hugged him again.
“I’m sorry,” he apologized again, mumbling into the soft fabric of Tony’s shirt.
“I know,” Tony said simply. “Relax sweetheart, it’s okay.”
He was still tense, curling up smaller in Tony’s arms. “Are you okay?” The sorcerer asked.
“I’m fine,” Tony reassured him. That was half true. He was fine, to a point, but there were things bothering him that he had no idea how to tell Stephen about.
Eventually they would have to face the music and talk about everything, and they both knew it. For now, Tony was somewhat okay with ignoring it, clinging to the hope that having his Stephen back would keep the memories at bay.

hancock, maccready, and deacon react to sole kissing them/them kissing sole~
prompt 17: “I remember kissing you, why do I remember kissing you?”
i got so many requests for 17, and i can’t blame y’all. this shit is cute as heck. anyways i hope you guys enjoy! ❤️ i changed deacons own a little just to give it variety.
crushing reacts got me crying with happiness. (yes these turned out long)
-
MacCready:
“he should be fine now,” doctor amari commented, giving sole a small, reassuring smile, “we had to put him under drugs to calm him down but we managed to remove the bullet either way. you can go see him.” sole nodded, thanking the doctor before walking past her to enter the room. they turned the knob slightly and carefully opened the door to avoid waking mac up. the sight of him laying on the bed, all bandaged up on his shoulder made them cringe, knowing that the recovery time would be nothing but a big bitch for the next few weeks. mac was probably gonna whine about it for long while and they wouldn’t be able to hear the end of it.
slowly, they walked over to him and sat on the chair next to the bed, observing his features as he slept peacefully. they ran their fingers softly against his cheek, admiring how handsome the mercenary was but jolted in surprise when maccreadys hand caught theirs a little too quickly.
mac opened his eyes and locked eyes with sole, who stuttered an apology while blushing. he smiled at them and pressed his cheek against their palm, their apologies soon dying from the sudden contact. “i like it.” he muttered, continuing to stare up at sole with dazed eyes. their eyes softened at his expression- he looked so out of it and definitely did not look like he was in pain. the drugs were probably still active at that very moment and he wasn’t realizing half the things he was doing nor saying. sole lightly brushed their thumb over his cheek, earning a soft, pleased sigh from mac who closed his eyes and leaned into the touch. his hand squeezed theirs a little tighter in response and sole chuckled.
there was this long, tranquil pause between the two until mac opened his eyes. sole let out a small, “hm?” before he sent them a woozy smile, “can you kiss me?” sole blinked in surprise, their mouth opening and closing a few times before responding. “that’s the drugs talking for you, mac so im gonna have to say no.” he pouted as he shifted in his bed. “would you say no to me if i was sober?” soles face grew crimson as they bit their lip in wonder. it’s not like mac would remember their response once he sobered up, so it wouldnt hurt to be honest. “i wouldn’t say no, but-“ before another word could leave their mouth, he wrapped his hand around their wrist, pulling them and closed the distance. sole looked at mac in astonishment as he pressed into the kiss gently, his hand traveling towards their hair.
despite their words, they didn’t pull away and instead, closed their eyes and enjoyed the feeling of the warmth that was shared between the two. mac pulled away slowly, opening his eyes to meet with soles crimson face. he moved his hand down to caress their cheek softly before letting out soft smile. they snapped back into reality and pushed maccready back down onto the bed gently. “rest up, okay?” mac kept his hand on their arm firmly, “can you stay with me?” they nodded, intertwining their fingers with his. “goodnight mac.”
“goodnight sole.”
-
mac groaned in discomfort, the pain finally catching up to him. he threw an arm over his eyes, hearing the sound of footsteps rush over to him quickly and the familiar sweet sound of soles voice. “hey now, don’t move too much. your stitches might open up.” mac lowered his arm and opened his eyes slowly, his vision clearing after a few seconds. “sole?” they laughed softly and placed the food on the table near him. “hey there. how are you feeling?” sole pushed his hair out of his face, wiping off any sweat he had on his forehead with the towel nearby. mac flushed at the contact, his voice weak. “like shit.”
“as you should.” they chuckled, dabbing his forehead. “you should get more rest, you still look tired. you did lose a lot of blood anyway.” their eyes flickered from his forehead to his eyes, a small blush appearing on their cheeks. “do you remember anything that happened?”
“it’s hazy.” he muttered, closing his eyes as he attempted to recollect his memories. sole let out a small hum. he remembered there were figures hovering over him, trying to remove the bullet and him conversing with sole, but couldn’t quite remember what was said. all seemed to be normal until a particular memory popped up into his mind and a sickening feeling twisted in his stomach. he looked up at sole with half lidded eyes, his body way too weak to properly react to the discovery. with a strained voice, he murmured, “i remember kissing you. why do i remember kissing you?”
sole froze for a second, meeting eyes with mac as a blush appeared on their cheeks. “um, cause you kinda did..” he blushed lightly, guilt clearly written all over his face. if it wasn’t for the bullet wound on his shoulder, he would be screaming the apologies instead with a more panicked reaction. “i-i’m sorry. i didn’t mean to, i- uh,-“
sole shook their head and cupped his cheeks, brushing it with their thumbs reassuringly. “don’t apologize. i loved it.” they coughed nervously, “if that means anything.”
he let out a breath of relief, smiling up at them like a child. mac gripped their sleeve gently, “i couldn’t tell. i was too drugged up to notice.” he whispered quietly, “maybe we should try again?”
they grinned happily and leaned in without another word.
Hancock:
goodneighbor was full of life and energy at the moment, a ‘small’ party being thrown for the mayors birthday. there were definitely a handful of people partying out in the streets and inside the third rail, music loudly blaring and people chattering with one another. it was your typical celebration full of alcohol and drugs.
sole was one of the many individuals who fell victim to the drinks being passed around and became intoxicated themselves, hancock gladly watching after them in case anything were to happen. their professionalism was now thrown to side as they happily laughed and jumped around like a child, clinging onto the mayor more than they usually would. it’s not like hancock minded or anything, this was probably the closest he was ever gonna get to holding sole. he stood near them with his arms crossed, watching as they played a round of beer pong with his fellow residents. sole clung onto his arm, happily calling him name.
“hancock!” they slurred, tapping his arm excitedly, “look ‘m gonna make this shot!” he chuckled and ruffled their hair. “i’m watching. can’t take my eyes off someone so breathtaking anyway.” a shy giggle escaped their lips and they stuck a tongue out, focusing on their aim to hit the cup ahead of them. they threw the ball and missed completely due to their intoxication, letting out a childish point once it bounced off the rim.
“dang it..” they whined in defeat, resting their head on hancock’s shoulder. he felt them grab his arm tightly against their body and he let out a smile, finding their behavior rather adorable.
“hey now, we could always try again.” he reassured them, grabbing the ball that sat on the edge of the table. hancock placed the ball onto their palm, enclosing their fingers around it. “show me whatcha got, sunshine.” they beamed at him and nodded happily with a grin. “i won’ dissapoint you!” they closed one eye, trying to find their aim and after a few seconds of silence, they threw the ball, successfully landing it into the container.
sole let out a victorious scream, throwing both arms in the air as they bounced. “did you see that, hancock?!” they turned their body to face the mayor, their eyes full of pride. oh how he could just look at them all day like this.
“sure did, sunshine. i knew you had it in ya somewhere.” before he knew it, sole had thrown themselves at him, wrapping their arms tightly around his shoulders. he was so caught up in trying to keep them balanced that he didn’t notice the feeling of something crashing against his lips. it wasn’t until he noticed the unusual silence of the room and the way sole smiled into the kiss that he realized the person he loved the most was literally smooching him in front of the crowd of wandering eyes. it was more than he could’ve ever imagined and hoped for since he’s fallen for them. their lips were softer than he had anticipated and the way their body pressed against his own was heavenly. yet he refused to kiss back, not knowing if this was what sole actually wanted. this could’ve been the alcohol talking for all he knew.
he placed a hand on their shoulder, pushing them back gently to create distance between them. soles eyes fluttered open, a hint of pain crossing them as their smile faltered. “oh.” though they wanted it to sound as if it was casual and brush it off, it still came out as hurt. hancock felt a sense of guilt hit him and squeezed their hip gently, not wanting to give them the wrong idea.
“it’s not like that, sunshine. trust me, i love you, more than anything. ever since you waltzed right into goodneighbor, i couldn’t keep my eyes off of you.” they gripped his clothing, their voice quivering in sadness. “so why didn’t you kiss me?”
he took a strand of their hair and tucked it behind their ear before smiling reassuringly at them. “we’ll talk more about it in the morning when you’re not drunk, okay?”
“promise?”
“i promise.” he released them from his arms and instead, held their hand in his. “i’ll be waiting here for whenever you’re ready to head back home. just say the word and we’ll go.”
they squeezed his hand in response, biting back the pout that threatened to form. “okay.”
-
if sole had any regrets, it would be the amount of alcohol they poured into themselves as if they didn’t hold any responsibilities that needed to be done. they remained hunched over the bucket in front of them, one arm gripping on their stomach and the other resting on the wall to keep them balanced. they managed to regurgitate all the drinks they consumed the night before but still remained at their spot just in case more decided to spill out.
their eyes shot open at the sound of the door creaking open and saw the sight of their favorite person tipping his hat at them as a greeting. “morning, sunshine. not looking so good.” he commented, shutting the door behind him as quietly as he could. he approached them, crouching down at their level before cringing at the sight of the contents inside the bucket. “you’re telling me.” sole groaned miserably and pushed the hair out of their face, sweat sticking onto their skin. “what even happened last night?”
hancock shrugged with a shiteating grin, raising a brow at sole who looked at him for some type of an answer. “i don’t know. you tell me what happened. i’m sure it’ll come back to ya if you think hard enough.” he adjusted his hat, “use that little mind of yours.”
sole would gaze at him with a confused expression, their mind wandering back to the previous night, desperately searching for something, anything. the more they got lost in thought, the more vivid things became and then suddenly, their heart stopped, face paling at the sudden realization. the upset feeling in their stomach would soon be replaced by a wave of anxiety and their face would redden, much to hancock’s amusement. the way their face twisted into different expressions was rather adorable in his eyes.
“i remember kissing you,” they croaked, “why do i remember kissing you?” the smirk growing on his face gave them all the answers they needed, but still continued to deny it, hoping to some kind of god out there that this was all but a joke. “oh no, please tell me you’re kidding.”
his smirk grew wider and looked at them with an amused expression. “i ain’t that bad at kissing, am i?”sole would roll their eyes and groan in embarrassment, wanting nothing more but to disappear at that moment. “i should be asking you that,” they muttered, “you’re the one who didn’t kiss me back.” there was a pregnant pause between the two before sole broke the silence, “why?”
he let out a small breath and sat on the floor near them, “i did promise you i’d tell you.”
“so spit it out.”
“i like you. hell, i love you sole and don’t get me wrong. that kiss? it was amazing, everything i coulda ever hoped for,” sole felt their heart beat abnormally fast at his words, “but that wasn’t how i wanted it to go. i wasn’t even sure you liked me or anythin’, that could’ve been in the heat of the moment for all i know. your consent matters to me. don’t want you doing anything you regret.”
their expression softened and their embarassment was soon replaced with a warm feeling, “did you really think i don’t like you or something?” he shifted in his seat, “well, yeah. i’m not the prettiest looking person out there, i figured someone would catch your eye eventually.”
sole leaned forward and cupped his cheeks with their hands, placing a soft kiss against his lips. hancock needed a minute to realize what was happening, his mind blanking out the moment he felt that familiar, warm feeling. he closed his eyes, sliding his arm around their waist and pulled them closer to him, depending the kiss. they didn’t press their body against his like last night but this kiss was much more genuine and loving, pushing away any doubts that floated in his mind.
sole withdrew from the kiss slowly, their eyes opening to meet hancock’s, which stared at them with awe. they leaned their forehead against his, a shy grin forming on their face. their voice was barely a whisper as their breath fanned his lips. “hope that answers some of your questions.”
hancock chuckled huskily, bringing them in for another kiss, “definitely.”
Deacon:
everything happened so fast. they were just heading to their next available stop to shelter in for the night and were suddenly ambushed by a group of raiders that met them by the bridge. clearly outnumbered, 2 to 10, they shot whoever they could and hid behind whatever cars that could shield them and quietly gave each other gestures and signals that could somehow get them out of the hole they were in. in total, they were able to dispatch majority of the raiders so far and tried to take down as many as they could before the situation became overwhelming.
the plan was going well at first with both sole and deacon managing to maneuver around the situation as unscathed as possible but soon went downhill after sole was tackled by a raider and held hostage. they winced when the raider had tightened their arm around their neck, gun pointing at their temple. “drop it.” they hissed, pressing the weapon against their skin roughly. a pistol was also pointed at deacons side by another individual nearby, earning a series of muttered curses from him. his eyes flickered to sole, who looked terrified and wanted nothing more but to shoot the man in front of him and take sole in his arms.
none of that happened though. with his hands up, he dropped the gun on the floor instead, not wanting to escalate the situation more. despite his terror for sole, he tried to act casual, fighting the panic that threatened to rise. “fine.” he seethed, his face growing red in anger.
“good,” the raider smirked, his eyes traveling to meet his acquaintance, “you know what to do. i’ll take care of this one.” once those words had left their mouth, all plans of being calm and collected swept into oblivion and deacon attempted to rush over to them, only to be pulled back by the sound of the pistol cocking. “where the fuck are you taking them?”
he couldn’t hear the words that left the scums mouth, the words only coming out as static and solely focusing on a plan on how to get them both out of there, or at least sole, unscathed. with a quick movement, he elbowed the raider nearby who fell to the floor in pain and grabbed his gun beneath him, shooting the raider that held sole hostage between their eyes.
deacon was so caught up on sole and trying to check if they’re okay, he didn’t notice the raider that he had previously striked get back up on his feet. before he could react, the individual had smacked him on his temple with the butt of his gun and deacon ultimately lost balance, falling over the edge of the bridge. “deacon!” sole screamed, shooting the raider down and jumping off the bridge themselves without a second thought.
once they had hit the water, they had caught sight of deacons body lifelessly floating and rushed over to him, doing their best to pull him above surface. sole held him above water, rushing to the nearest shore and dropping his body against the dirt. he was unconscious, his face pale and body limp as they observed him from above. to say that they were terrified was an absolute understatement, it was beyond those words.
quickly, they checked for any signs of breathing and pulse, which was indeed there but very, very faint. they pressed his chest multiple times, tears falling down their face as they tried to hold themselves together. they leaned forward, tilting his head back while keeping his chin down and pinched his nose. sole sealed his mouth against his, breathing into it and watching his chest while doing so. they went back to the compressions, trying to keep themselves calm while doing so. after a few seconds, they heard that familiar cough and pulled back as deacon turned over, coughing and throwing up whatever fluids that filled his lungs just moments ago. once finished, sole wrapped their arms around deacon, who still remained quiet and weak, letting a sob escape their mouth. “fuck,” they muttered into his ‘hair’, “thank fucking god.” deacons eyes were still closed, signature glasses now gone, but his breathing remained steady compared to his shallow ones only minutes ago. sole ran their fingers on his cheek before whispering, “let’s get out of here.”
they threw deacons arm over their shoulder and held him up, dragging him to the nearest building or safe spot available for shelter.
-
deacon woke up to the sounds of crackling nearby and felt his head pound at the sudden brightness once his eyes opened. “shit.” he quietly said, rubbing his temples to stop the throbbing. he searched the area around him, including his face, pockets, and anything nearby for his sunglasses. where the hell was it? where was his bag? where was-
“sole?!” he croaked, jolting into a sitting position. his eyes frantically scanned the area he was in, disregarding the growing pain in his head as he desperately searched for them. he began to panic, not seeing them around and yelled their name in fear, “sole!”
a wave of relief washed over him when that familiar voice had called out his name in response and let out a breath he didn’t even know he was holding, “deacon?! i’m coming!” the sound of footsteps grew louder and he eventually caught the sight of sole running to him with sticks in their arms. they dropped whatever they were holding and kneeled down, hugging him immediately without another word. even if he wasn’t fond of affection, he found himself enveloping them just as tight, breathing in their scent as if he hadn’t seen them in years.
sole pulled back, placing both hands on either side of his face in panic. “fuck, you scared me!” they cried, “are you okay? are you in pain?” he shook his head, sending them a reassuring smile. “i’m okay, charmer. you can’t ever get rid of me even if you tried.”
they let out a shaky laugh, swatting his arm but hugged him again, whispering into his clothes. “i’m just glad you’re okay.” deacon rested his chin on top of their head, “i’m glad too.”
after a few moments, sole withdrew from the hug, much to deacons disappointment and went near the fire to roast some mirelurk meat they had caught. while they did that, deacon backtracked to what had happened earlier in the day and lost himself in thoight trying to piece together the memories. he looked at sole, who hummed contently as they turned the meat above the fire with full focus and his eyes fell on their lips. his heart stopped at the feeling of a vision crossing his mind and he sucked in a sharp breath. ‘it can’t be,’ he thought dreadfully.
even if he wanted to keep it to himself, the words still managed to slip his mouth, knowing damn well that he wouldn’t be able to sleep without knowing the truth. “i remember you.. kissing me,” he said nervously, “why do i remember you kissing me?” sole whipped her head towards him, a small blush appearing on their face. “w-what?”
deacon tried to laugh it off, instantly regretting the question that left his mouth, “oh, nothing. all that water must’ve made me see things. you know, crazy old deeks.” he felt uneasy as sole became more flushed, fiddling with their fingers nervously. with an awkward smile, they’d reply meekly, “well.. about that. it wasn’t a kiss, per say...” deacon blinked a few times, waiting for them to finish the sentence, “more of cpr, but yknow, in a way it is. just without the romance and whatnot.”
he began to redden at the thought of soles lips on his and tried to play it cool despite the beating of his chest. “ah, got it, charmer.”
they smiled nervously at him and grabbed the knife nearby, heading towards the forest. “well, i’ll be back. fires, uh, dying. wouldn’t want your mirelurk to get cold or ‘nything.” he nodded in response, not trusting his voice at that very moment. they waved at him and left the premises, leaving a blushing deacon behind with his thoughts.
his hands gripped the sleeping bag. whatever he had previously felt for sole had grown stronger than a crush as he silently wondered how their lips would feel against his. he just hopes that moment wouldn’t be the only time they’d share such contact and wishes that it’d be under much better circumstances.

Everything (Daryl Dixon X F!Reader ft. Baby Dixon)
Summary: Trudging into DC after the prison fell, Daryl Dixon thought he’d lost everything. Then Aaron came along with a picture of Daryl in his bag, claiming that (Y/N), his girl, his (Y/N) gave it to him for safe-keeping. At first, he didn’t believe it. But then Aaron told him something about (Y/N) that only the two of them were supposed to know-- and he started to believe that everything was waiting for him in Alexandria.
Key: (Y/N) - your name Warnings: cursing, mentions of death, some grieving, assumed death, pregnancy mentions, newborn babies, lots of emotions but they’re sweet i swear Word Count: 2,859 (praise paul i’m actually productive)
Note: woops im obsessed with twd again. Thanks for putting up with my long hiatus and enjoy! I may have ideas for a part 2 where daryl adjusts to fatherhood and then negan Fucks Shit Up-- you know, as he does. Then maybe part 3 after the time skip where beth and judith get up to Shenanigans?? Idk if i feel like writing it but it sounds fun so we’ll see
In a barn not far from Alexandria, Aaron was having a rough day. It wasn’t bad-- not yet anyway-- but it did get significantly worse when Daryl Dixon shoved him against a wall.
“Where the hell’d you get this!?” He was shouting as he put a knife to Aaron’s neck.
See, Daryl had been perfectly content to leave the new guy to Rick and Michonne until something in his bag caught the archer’s attention. It was a picture-- a picture of Daryl.
“Where’d you get it!?” He asked again.
Rick took the picture from Daryl, getting a good look at it. It was taken from a guard tower back at the prison, one that was probably rubble now. Daryl was leaning over the guard rails, a cigarette in his hand and a smile on his face.
    “Where’s (Y/N)?” Daryl growled.
Suddenly, it made sense to Rick. The picture belonged to (Y/N).
“Back at my community,” Aaron said quickly. “She’s safe, I swear.”
“You keeping her prisoner?” Rick questioned with a fire in his eyes, the one that was lit when others threatened his family.
    “No, no! God, no--!”
Daryl interrupted. “Then why’s this with you?”
“She gave it to me,” Aaron claimed firmly. “She gave it to me so that I’d know you if I ran into you, so I could bring you to her. I was hoping it would be a surprise, but--”
“How do I know you ain’t lyin’?” Daryl shot back, unfaltering. “That she’s alive?”
“Because she told me something, something only the two of you know.”
After a pause, he lowered the knife. “Tell me.”
Aaron glanced around the room. He wanted to keep this between them, as (Y/N) had asked him to. So, he looked back at Daryl, lowered his voice to a whisper, and said:
    “The baby’s okay.”
The first week was the hardest. After the Governor, after Terminus, after Beth, all Daryl could think about was (Y/N).
“We’ll find her, Daryl,” Rick kept saying. “We’ll find her.”
But after days of searching and finding nothing, he was ready to give up. One night, Rick said it again and he just snapped.
“We ain’t gonna find her!” he found himself shouting.
    “You don’t know that--”
He cut his friend off. “Yeah, I do! ‘Cause we been lookin’ for days and ain’t nobody findin’ nothin’! (Y/N)’s dead, alright?! Give it up!”
He stormed off, unsure if his last words were directed at Rick or himself.
Later, Rick found him sitting in the woods by himself. He sat down beside him silently, waiting for a sign.
    “Sorry,” Daryl finally mumbled.
“It’s okay. I know you and (Y/N) were close,” Rick sighed. “She was a damn good friend.”
    “I loved her.”
The confession slipped out before he could stop it. Shame hit him as soon as he said it, his face going red.
Rick turned to him with a raised eyebrow. “Yeah? You ever tell her?”
“Every day,” Daryl finally admitted, a weight falling from his shoulders.
His friend broke into a massive grin. “You two were together? Why didn’t you say anything?”
“Didn’t want to with all the new people,” he shrugged. “She knew it’d freak me out.”
    “Did anybody know?”
He paused before nodding. “Beth an’ Hershel.” Before Rick could ask why them, he went on. “Look, about (Y/N)--”
He was cut off by the distant call of Rick’s name. The man in question sighed and, as he left, promised to finish their talk later. Daryl, however, took it as a sign and decided that it was already over.
“It’s your decision,” Rick said later. “If you think she’s still out there, if you wanna stay, we will. We won’t stop looking.”
Everyone knew it was hard for Daryl to make the call, but they didn’t know just how hard.
He didn’t tell Rick why Hershel and Beth knew about him and (Y/N). He thought it was better to shoulder that weight himself-- the weight of leaving a pregnant woman behind.
    “What’d you say?”
Daryl had frozen when Aaron said it. The question came out as a whisper, a horrified whisper, which was a tone that most present had never heard from him.
Aaron nodded a single time, the epitome of understanding. “I think you heard me.”
Daryl was suddenly overwhelmed. He took a threatening step forward, knife in his hand again. “You--”
He apparently decided against skewering him, though. Instead, he stormed out of the barn like his feet were on fire, hiding his face and his unshed tears from the rest of the group, who stared at him questioningly.
Rick was in Aaron’s face in an instant. “What did you say?”
    “You’d better ask him.”
Without another word, Rick followed Daryl out of the barn, suddenly feeling like there was more to Daryl and (Y/N) than his brother had told him.
Outside, Daryl found himself a tree and climbed it. Normally, he would’ve just sat down, but his hands felt like he needed to be doing something-- maybe punching someone-- so he climbed instead, ignoring the scratches the rough bark left on his palms.
Once atop his chosen branch, it took everything Daryl Dixon had not to cry. His lips quivered as he stared out into nothing.
He knew Rick was on his way over and he was begging himself to keep it together. This wasn’t what he needed, it wasn’t what the group needed. He needed to pull himself together and decide whether Aaron was telling the truth.
But some part of him, deep down, already knew the answer. Why else would Aaron know that only (Y/N) and Daryl knew about the baby? She would never give that up to a captor.
So, (Y/N) was still alive. She’d been alive this whole time and he hadn’t been looking for her. His child and his girl were out there alive and here he was, sitting on his ass in a damn tree, crying about it. He could hear Merle’s laughter in his head.
But thank god for Rick Grimes.
“Daryl?” He called up. “You good?”
He let out a shaky breath, wiping at a few stray tears that had escaped. “Y-- yeah, yeah, ‘m fine,” he managed.
Rick could tell it was bullshit, but he didn’t push. “Is he tellin’ the truth? Is (Y/N) with ‘em willingly?”
“She told ‘im what she did by herself, if that’s what ya mean,” Daryl told him.
There was a pause while Rick debated whether to ask him what Aaron had said or not. Daryl knew he had to tell him. The rest of the group wouldn’t just go on his word-- they needed Rick’s, too.
    “The baby’s okay.”
Rick blinked a few times. “What?”
Reluctantly, Daryl removed himself from the tree, landing on the ground in front of Rick. “What he said. He said the baby’s okay.”
His friend’s eyes widened in sudden understanding. “(Y/N) was--?”
“Yeah,” he mumbled, still not sure if he wanted it said aloud. “Beth an’ Hershel knew ‘cause (Y/N) an’ me were flippin’ our shit, not knowin’ what to do.”
“So they’re okay?” Rick asked. “She and the baby-- Aaron said they’re okay?”
    Daryl nodded. “My kid’s okay.”
His blood brother couldn’t help the smile that overtook him and he pulled the man into a tight hug. “We’re gonna figure this out,” Rick told him firmly. “We’re gonna get ‘em back.”
“Put your weapons down!” (Y/N) found herself shouting from behind the cabinet.
She’d found shelter in an abandoned house for the last day or so. She wished she could’ve kept staying in the old gas station she found, but unfortunately walkers decided otherwise.
Two heads appeared from the doorway and soon enough both men had their hands in the air.
“We don’t have any weapons,” the taller one said quickly. “We’re here to help.”
(Y/N) stopped at that, a frown painting her expression. “What?”
“We’ve been watching you,” the second man said. “You got close to our community, so we kept an eye on you.”
“We wanna help,” his friend said, picking up where he left off. “I’m Aaron, this is Eric.”
(Y/N) hesitated, her gun still lifted high at them. She hadn’t gotten off the floor, but her head peeked out from behind the cabinet just enough that they could see her.
    “Help? Why?”
Aaron shook his head with a small smile. “What kind of people are we that would turn a blind eye to a pregnant woman in the middle of the apocalypse?”
She had to pause for a moment. He was making a good case for himself.
    “What’s your name?” Eric asked.
    “(Y/N),” she muttered.
Aaron frowned. “Have you always been alone?”
“No.” She decided they were asking too many questions and lifted her gun again. “Tell me about your community.”
“It’s called Alexandria,” Aaron told her. “It has massive steel walls-- they’ve been there since the beginning. Most of our people have never been outside. We have food, running water, solar power, a sewage system; you name it. It’s safe and it’s open to you.”
“We have a doctor, too,” Eric interrupted. “He can help with the baby.”
Almost as soon as the words left his mouth, a little cry sounded. Aaron’s eyes widened as (Y/N) moved to hold her baby.
“You already--?” He gaped. “I’m so sorry. I hoped we’d be here before, so you didn’t have to deliver on your own out here.”
(Y/N) shook her head, rocking the baby and whispering reassurances to it. “A doctor?” She asked them. “Walls? All of it? Can you prove it?”
Aaron nodded, gesturing to his bag. “Yes. It’s all real, I swear. You just have to trust us.”
Looking between these two men and her child, (Y/N) decided to take a risk. It was this or solitude-- again-- and that was something she wasn’t sure they would survive.
Being interrogated by Deanna only made Daryl more twitchy. He’d been itching to go off and find (Y/N) since they walked in the gate. Aaron had wanted to take him immediately, but the woman in charge had different ideas.
“I wanna see (Y/N),” Daryl had told her, refusing to go upstairs.
“And you will,” she reassured. “But I need to do this first.”
During the interview, she asked him about (Y/N), about the baby. He got a little defensive when she asked if it was his. Of course it was! God, she was getting on his nerves.
Finally, finally, it was over and Daryl rushed downstairs again, intending on finding Aaron immediately.
“Alright, Abraham, if you could--” Deanna began to say.
She was interrupted when the door to the house creaked open. Eric walked, er, limped in first, followed by Aaron. He was leading (Y/N) in, but kept her eyes covered.
“I hate surprises,” she told him.
“Oh, you’ll love this one,” he laughed, meeting Daryl’s gaze. “Trust me.”
Daryl’s heart wrenched. He couldn’t see her eyes yet and she had no idea he was there, but his heart was already torn in half. Tears came to his eyes and he dropped his crossbow. The others were awestruck as well, but none of their reactions compared to his.
“Three, two, one, and--” Aaron removed his hands. “Ta-da!”
The moment Aaron’s hands dropped, a strangled gasp escaped (Y/N)’s mouth. She covered it with her hands, eyes filling with tears.
    “Oh my god,” she sobbed.
She threw herself at Daryl, who welcomed her with open arms. He buried his face in the crook of her neck, shoulders shaking as he wept with relief. He held her so tightly that it hurt, but she didn’t have the heart to tell him.
“You’re alive,” she said finally when he lifted his head. She placed a gentle hand on his cheek. “Oh god, I thought I was alone.”
“Thought I lost ya,” he murmured, pressing their foreheads together.
Then, he kissed her-- that sweet, gentle kind of kiss he’d give her every morning when he was overwhelmed with the joy of waking up beside her. It was the same kiss they shared when he slipped into the guard tower each night, smiling like a stupid teenager who’d gotten a night alone with his girlfriend. That kiss was good as “I love you.”
Behind Daryl, everyone but Rick gawked.
“Right. Now might be the time to mention that they’ve been together the whole time,” the cowboy snorted.
“Yes!” Carl cheered instantly. “Michonne, you owe me a Big Cat!”
    Glenn stammered. “Seriously?”
Rick grinned almost mischievously. “It gets better.”
He didn’t get the chance to explain himself, because (Y/N) pulled herself away from Daryl and looked over at him with a smile.
    “Hey, Rick.”
“Hey, yourself,” he greeted back, lifting his arms for the inevitable hug.
As she wrapped herself around him, they heard Eric sigh. “Oh, that was so worth the volleyball injury.”
(Y/N) went around the room, saying hello to old friends and introducing herself to new ones. Deanna then borrowed Abraham for an interview and Aaron began to take Eric to the infirmary. But he stopped himself, tapping (Y/N) on the shoulder and motioning vaguely toward the door.
She gasped and turned to Daryl. “You have to meet her! I’ll be right back.”
She raced out of the building, leaving a shell-shocked Daryl behind.
“You hear that?” He asked Rick, eyes wide.
Rick smiled and patted him on the shoulder. “Welcome to the club, brother. Hope you don’t like sleeping.”
“Well, I’m lost,” they heard Carol mutter.
“Not only were these two together--” Rick begin, a gleeful grin on his face, “--they were expecting.
The others gaped, especially Daryl’s best friend. “Why didn’t you say anything?” She asked him seriously. “You didn’t have to carry that yourself.”
Daryl shook his head. “We woulda killed ourselves lookin’ for ‘em. Couldn’t lose nobody else,” he admitted sheepishly.
The creak of the front door gained everyone’s attention. (Y/N) shuffled inside, a bundle of blankets in her arms. Daryl immediately stepped up, but she shook her head and motioned to the couch. The couple sat down, instantly surrounded by their friends, who all wanted to get a look at the baby.
(Y/N) went to pass her to Daryl, but the poor man was frozen.
“Ain’t changed since Judith was born,” she teased, her voice warm. “You can hold her.”
He took the baby then, though his hands were shaking. He cradled her as though she would shatter with one wrong move. Slowly, he moved his fingers to stroke her tiny hands, a loving smile emerging when her little fingers grasped his thumb.
“She’s perfect,” he muttered, placing a kiss on her forehead. His voice cracked, but no one said a single thing about it.
“She’s got her daddy’s eyes,” (Y/N) remarked wistfully.
They sat in brief silence, everyone watching the baby wiggle in her father’s grasp. Daryl was perhaps considering the full 180 his situation had just made. Everything he thought he lost was right there in his arms. (Y/N) was right, too, he realised. His little girl had his beautiful baby blues.
Aaron and Eric departed, seeing as the latter was due for an infirmary visit. Both (Y/N) and Rick thanked them as they left; Daryl was too distracted.
Michonne was the next to break the quiet. “Does she have a name?”
Daryl, curious, looked to (Y/N), who shook her head. “Didn’t feel right,” she admitted to him, “without you.”
Almost immediately, the group was offering ideas up like they were drinks.
Daryl looked down at his daughter and, cutting through the chatter, announced: “Beth.”
    They all went silent.
“She an’ Hershel took care of us when they found out,” he explained, looking up at (Y/N). “She watched for ya when I was on runs an’ after-- after the prison she helped me get my shit together.”
(Y/N) nodded and rested her hand on top of his, the same one that their little girl held so tightly to. Meeting his eyes, she was glad she waited on the name. This meant everything to him; being able to name their kid, to call that kid his own.
(Y/N) then looked to Maggie, who sniffed and wiped at tears as she leaned into Glenn.
“She woulda loved that,” the woman rasped, her voice breaking.
“Beth Dixon,” (Y/N) announced, “the luckiest kid in the whole damn world.”
She saw the way Daryl looked at her when she said Dixon, like his heart had just been ripped out of his chest in the best way possible.
He pulled her and the baby close as the others congratulated them and celebrated with them. Even on the darkest of days, this memory would light up their whole world, he thought.
Beth Sophia Dixon, they decided; for the girl they couldn’t save and the girl who saved them. And (Y/N) was right.
She was gonna be the luckiest kid in the whole damn world. Daryl would make sure of it.

Warning: Cursing words and cutted limbs mention
"What do we have here? Hero?" She lifted her foot from the floor and touched hero´s head. " Umm, a little unconscious aren´t we?"
Her hands went to hero´s body picking the other one up, she let a sight out, hero was heavy, he was a guy with a decent body and really tall so she coulndt be really expecting something else.
"Lets get you out of here before supervillain sees us, its funny somehow today i should have been in the doctor taking care of the injurie you gave me on the knee, it took me about a long time to be ready to walk again, instead, im here helping you, i should have left you there to die but at the same time you don't deserve such cruel future. And here i am outside a really empty street talking to a unconscious hero."
Hero felt his body sore but he wasnt able to move nor talk so he couldnt really answer to her, he wasn't unconscious even if that was what the other one tought. He heard her humming some music while still dragging him off the street.
"Here we are."
He heard the other say and his body fell on something soft the girl hands leaving.
"I'm gonna get you to a hospital but first gotta make sure you don't have any tracker on you, Supervillain likes to put those while fighhting so he can easily track you and that would be really bad news were lucky he likes to give people a headstart so we probably have 10 more minutes till he starts tracking you, if you were awake this would be more weird im sure you would have that look of terrified puppy, dont worry dearest im not gonna get you naked, just gotta use my powers, give me a moment."
Hero felt a wave of something warm on his whole body and then how something was taken from behind his ear, he wanted to speak or at least to be able to open his eyes but he couldnt, so he waited for the girl to keep on talking. He heard her humming some music he remembered the melody of this one.
"Oh, this one is tiny he really was trying to kill you in the end, what a fucking creep. It would be great if you had waken up already its a little weird you havent actually, you're not dead I'm sure since you're breathing, but weirdly you're not moving and I'm sure you're not in a coma because you don't have any injurie that would put you into one. Maybe some weird poison put on you during the fight along with the tracker?"
Her hands went to his belly and he felt how that warm wave came again, his body starting to react to it and finally he was able to open his eyes, looking straight to the girl standing in front of him.
"Oh~ so i was right he did something to you, well you´re gaining power over your body, i should let you like this and then you must be good to go, i shouldnt even be helping you to be honest, shoul I?"
His body didnt move anymore after she took her hand off but his eyes were now able to move and he could see.
" I mean today i found you because i was going to the doctor to see if my leg was already good to start doing my normal life again, you know why dont you? Ah, if the others saw me helping you they would be so pissed, why would i help the reason i got my leg cut in half..."
Her hand went back to where it was.
"But still letting you to die is just cruel, i guess, lets just take that poison out of your body then i will drop you on the hospital and you will forget this happened."
After a little bit he was able to finally move freely but feeling nauseous, he sat looking at the girl, she had a smile on her face.
"Now you´re good enough let's go...."
He didn't let her finish, looking at her confused.
"Why help me? You could have left me to die and it would be a great revenge, like you said i took you leg out of your body i made you unable to walk like you always did so why?" His voice started to get louder. She didnt seem to get unconfortable keeping the smile and sitting in front of the hero.
"You didn't do it on porpuse, you lost control of your powers, trying to break the mindcontrolling device he put on you, I happened to apear on the worst moment i guess.
"Im sorry, i... I coulndt sleep for 3 days because of it, i remember everything, your terrified face when you saw your leg so far away from the rest of your body, I tried to get closer to help find a solution, but..."
"I know I heard your cries, Other villain closely broke my ribs holding me so strong, I guess this is what it means having a team of overprotecting people."
"Im sorry again..."
"Hero, I had the same problem once my powers went on a burst and it was really a problem I closely killed my team mate its OK, I feel you, it's not your fault trust me, and I'm really better my powers helped me keeping my leg together and it's okay now. It just took me a long while to get it together and to start walking again. But I'm fine, don't worry"
Hero gave her a weak smile and then both of them went to the hospital.

notable moments from The Bank Shot Job
leverage 1.05
I decided I’m also going to start highlighting meta material in these posts for reference reasons (like for fics, headcanons, meta, etc)
I’m colorcoading by what character the meta pertains to btw
Clerk: Hello, Judge Roy.
Judge Roy: [slaps her ass] Hey, sweetheart.
Frank: Can I help you, your honor?
Judge Roy: Yes, Fred. Her phone number?
Frank: It's Frank. And she's 19, sir.
Judge Roy: That's too bad. She got a younger sister
diSgUsTiNG
- - - - -
Hardison: No. No more. We gotta talk to Nate. No more rip deals. They take too damn long.
Parker (ripping paper): That's why they're called "Rip Deals". You have to convince them they're getting a deal before you can rip them off.
Hardison: Two weeks. Two weeks sleeping in crappy hotels. Two weeks eating in crappy diners. Two weeks having my soul sucked dry. It's 107 degrees. Who lives where it's 107 degrees?
Parker: Juan's not so bad. I kinda like this town
I wanna see that domestic shit of them sharing hotel rooms and eating the continental breakfasts and dingy diners and everything about them living in rundown hotels for two weeks
- - - - -
Hardison: You know, I had to retask two satellites just to get a lousy internet connection. Took more than an hour to torrent the last episode of Doctor Who.
Parker: Hey! Illegal downloading's wrong. (lights paper on fire in trash can)
that’s it. that’s their relationship.
- - - - -
Hardison: How we coming on the breakdown?
Eliot (loading truck elsewhere): Fake addresses are shut down. Post office boxes are closed. The phones are cleared. Five more minutes, we never existed
bruh those props ??? I wish I had a screenshot but wtf where they DOING for the con ???
- - - - -
Hardison: Want me to call the Delgado family, tell them the news?
Eliot: Nah. Soon as I clear county line I want to do it. I just wish we could do more than bankrupt that corrupt son of a bitch
eliot is so good you guys im-
- - - - -
Nate: Get out. Now.
Hardison: Is he talking to us?
Parker: An unmarked van parked across the street from a bank that's being robbed? Yeah. I think he's talking to us.
Hardison: Yeah, well, five more feet and he would have been in the clear. What the hell was he thinking?
Parker: Don't be an idiot, Hardison.
Hardison: What?
Parker: Sophie was still in there
parker knows nate loves sophie and would never leave her behind because she may not always get people, but even she can see how much nate cares for sophie
- - - - -
Derrick: Everyone empty your pockets. Wallets, purses, watches, everything you've got, throw it over here.
(everyone throwing stuff to center of floor)
nate threw his fucking toothpick
- - - - -
Deputy Arnold: No, right here, right here, and we need ...
(Eliot crosses police line)
Deputy Arnold: Whoa, whoa, I need you to take a step back, sir.
Eliot: Tell me what's going on in there.
Deputy Arnold: I'm afraid I can't do that, this is an active crime scene, and you need to ...
Eliot: (to cop) I'm not talking to you. (to Nate) How many are there?
Nate: Yeah, you're right. Clearly amateurs, these two. Yeah. The younger one, looks like he's never handled a gun before.
Eliot: Is judge blow-hard next to you?
Nate: Yeah, uh-huh. Yeah, definitely amateurs, That's what makes them so dangerous.
Eliot: Alright, 2 guys, both armed, neither one a criminal mastermind. You want me in there?
Deputy Arnold: Sir, we can't have you going inside the bank ...
Nate: Probably, uh, a good idea just to sit tight, don't you think? You know, and see where these guys' heads are
at, you know?
Eliot (backing away): Alright, your call boss.
Deputy Arnold: Thank you
poor deputy arnold + eliot being done with local law enforcement
- - - - -
Sophie: Okay. So what is the plan, Stan
“what’s the plan, stan” adorable.
- - - - -
(Eliot leans against a building across the street and watches Hardison and Parker pull up in a sedan)
Eliot: Nice ride.
Parker (taking notebook and removing badges): It's embarrassing. Everyone knows you don't rob a bank without an exit strategy. These two deserve to get caught. 42 seconds. (tosses notebook back to Eliot)
Hardison: What?
Parker: To rob this bank. One security guard who has never fired his gun before, 2 closed-circiut cameras outside, 1 inside, and a Glen-Reader safe built in the 50's whose default combination is the birth date of the manager's wife! Get in, get out, 42 seconds.
Hardison: Seriously
parker was so angry that she chucked the binder at eliot and he was like ??? we good ???
- - - - -
Hardison: Seriously? (to Bill) I'm Agent Leonard. This is Agent Elmore. We'll be taking over this crime scene,
Sheriff ...
Bill: Bill Hastings. Nice to meet you. You guys sure are quick, just called this in 20 minutes ago.
Hardison: Well, we were coming back from a little border skirmish. Patrol unit came under attack from a pack of Chupacabras.
Bill: Chupacabras? I thought those things were urban legend.
Hardison: You're adorable
I love it when hardison fucks with people it’s hilarious
- - - - -
Hardison: Whoa, what's going on?
Bill: Cut power to the bank. Standard operating procedure.
Hardison: Standard ... it's standard op ... it's standard? Where do you getting that bull-hockey from son?
Bill: Deputy Arnold, he took a seminar in crisis management last year.
Deputy Arnold: It was an online seminar. We got certificates.
Hardison: Certificates? Magic kits come with certificates. Does that make it cool for kids to saw their parents in half?
Bill: We're just going by the book.
Hardison: The ... the book? The book got a good man killed. I can't ... my blood pressure.
Parker: Ex-partner. Probably shouldn't mention the book again. Or propellers.
parker is doing so well with grifting considering and I’m so proud of her
- - - - -
Sophie: They are not cops, I promise you, they're friends of mine, you can trust them.
Derrick: Why should I trust you? I don't know who you are.
Sophie: I am a thief.
Derrick: Okay, I'm not sure what to do with that.
that’s it guys. that’s the show.
- - - - -
Nate: I didn't say it was going to be easy. But nothing's impossible, especially when you have the world's greatest thief on your payroll. Parker, have you ever robbed a bank that's being robbed?
Parker: There's a first time for everything.
her SMILE YOUR HONOR
- - - - -
Parker: The bank was built before 1980, before computers. Means it's got a larger than normal night deposit chute.
Hardison: 'Cause business had to drop off ledgers with their daily hauls. What, you thought my genius was only limited to ones and zeroes?
Parker: I'm thinking the chute's my way in. Only problem is, it's in the alley on this side of the building
the way she looks at hardison like damn boy you know my stuff
- - - - -
Hardison: I can take care of that, but, we actually have bigger problems.
Eliot: What's that?
Hardison: Well, Sheriff Coltrane over here called the FBI, the real FBI. Now the closes office is in San Diego, so they should be here, in about, um, give it 45 minutes.
Nate: We can't worry about that now.
Hardison: When do we worry about it?
Nate: In about 45 minutes
hardison, internally: lord give me strength
- - - - -
Hardison: Hold on ... Excuse me. (answers phone) Agent Leonard. We will do whatever you need us to do, just please, don't hurt anybody. Okay. (hangs up) Guys ... Boys, boys, come on, gather 'round. Now boys, that was THE call. The call we were waiting for. Now look, they have a list of demands. First off, they want 12 large pizzas. One cheese, one Hawaiian, extra pineapple. Two pepperoni and black olives, two meat lover's, t ... Seriously? Nobody's writing this down? Seriously? One triple-shot half-caf vanilla latte, tall,
(Parker goes down alley and opens deposit drop box)
Hardison: …three of the latest copies of the Hall and Oates CD. I know, right? Exciting stuff I didn't know they were coming out with a new one either. We're gonna need steaks. Steaks and a grill. They're trying to tailgate. Okay, they need your overalls, I don't know why. They need some kibbles n' bits, we need an Etch-A-Sketch, somebody in there likes to squiggle okay ... Are we good? Let's go people. Everybody. I need you guys moving. Everybody get out. Go. (hardison points at an officer) You stay. We need to talk about Hall & Oates.
I fucking loved this monologue,,, hardison is VERY GOOD at improvising
- - - - -
(Derrick opens night deposit box)
Parker: Hi.
Derrick (hands her the briefcase): There's a lot of money in there.
Parker: Yeah, I know.
Derrick: My wife's life depends on that money getting where it needs to go.
Parker: I understand. Sometimes bad guys are the only good guys you get
parker’s face softened and you can see that she understood. parker didn’t get people in the beginning of the show, and sure her values and ideas aren’t typical, but she was ALWAYS a good person. she cared and understood what was at risk and she consoled him.
also, this is yet another piece of evidence that parker was the main character all along!!! I’m not gonna go super into it because there are already posts out there about it, but she had three (3) episodes dedicated to her character in season one alone AND had her say what is basically the mission statement of the show here in this scene
- - - - -
Sophie: Things could be worse.
Nate: Worse than me getting shot and you blowing our cover?
Sophie: No, no, you're not gonna lay that crap on me. We wouldn't even be in this mess if you'd just walked out with the cash when you had the chance. I would've been fine.
Nate: I know.
Sophie: Yeah, I can take care of myself. I've been doing it a long time. Since way before I met you. I'm just saying.
Nate: Yeah, you're right.
Sophie: Okay
nate knows sophie is a strong independent woman and that is one of the only things I stan about him lol
- - - - -
Sophie: We lost communication.
Nate: Yeah, we did.
Sophie: Hardison, Parker, and Eliot ...
Nate: That's right, they are on their own. Yup.
they ended up doing great on their own, but also, can we acknowledge what a glow up it was building up to the rundown job ???
- - - - -
(Mom gets out of truck and tries to run)
Meth #2: Where the hell you think you're going, old lady? (pulls mom back) Where the hell you think you're g ...
Eliot (catches Meth #2’s arm): Hey, what smells like crank and screams like a girl? (Takes his gun and breaks his knee)
Meth #2: AAHH!
Eliot (kicks car door closed before Meth #3 can get out, empties the bullets from gun): That's the right answer. (throws gun into car at #3, hits #1 as he approaches) Come on. (fights #1, kicks door shut, beats #1 more, kicks door again) Stay in the car. (beats the hell out of #3 and #1, kneels down near mom and removes her gag)
Mom: Who are you?
Eliot: Well ma'am, we'd be the cavalry.
this entire fight scene always has me ROLLING it’s so funny
also I’m not sure if this should go on the List Of Non-Weapon Objects Eliot Uses As Weapons but eliot DID use the car door in the fight
- - - - -
Sophie: Just let the paramedics take him. The rest of us will stay.
Judge Roy: And give up my leverage
*sophie and nate look at each other*
both, internally: tHATS OUR WORD
- - - - -
Nate: Hey, listen. She's gonna be alright. Everything's gonna be alright
Derrick: Your people ... they're good?
Nate: Yeah. The best.
nate’s smile when he says that??? proud dad alert
- - - - -
Sophie (looking at replay of tape): You're still a geek.
Judge Roy: They're trying to ruin me.
Hardison: Geek power, baby. Stay strong!
in other words: age of the geek, baby
also- kudos to 2008 hardison editing video like that. I can’t do that shit with today’s tech lmao
- - - - -
Bill: Go home now. Bank robbers are in custody, hostages are safe. FBI's got the whole thing wrapped up.
Taggert: Do you have any idea what?
Mcsweeten: Just go with it.
Deputy Arnold: Mr. FBI guys, can you help me here?
Bill: My, my. Look at this. Our local drug boys, both with outstanding warrants. It's incredible.
Taggert: Damn, we're good!
mcsweeten and taggert stumbling onto the leverage crew’s cons and directly profiting off of them is iconic. they have no idea. too pure for this world
- - - - -
Sophie: Hey, thanks Parker.
Parker: Whatever.
Sophie: No. It was an excellent performance.
Parker: Yeah, I think I can act okay when I'm yelling at people and bossing them around.
Sophie: Well, it's a good start.
proud mom!sophie + grifting parker
Nate: Listen, we have to make sure we get the cash to the Delgado family. Ow!
Eliot (tending Nate’s wound): Oh! Settle down. You act like you've never been shot before.
Nate (glances at Sophie): So, uh, pizza boxes, huh?
Hardison: Yeah, I know, I know, You could have done better.
Nate: No, no, no. No I couldn't have.
eliot casually stitching up nate’s wound bc no hospitals but also can we talk about how much nate has to trust eliot to literally operate on him

Might I request something? :3 Last year I had a really bad pulmonary embolism and almost died. I was home alone and called the ambulance at the very last minute. 😂 How would the Founders + Izuna react if this happened to their wife? Like... what happens when she calls them and says: "Hey Honey, I almost died and am now hospitalized!" ? 🙈
asdfghjk WHY DID U WAIT SO LONG THO OH GOD IM SORRY THAT HAPPENED TO YOU T_T Im glad everything went ok but!! aaaa pls look after yourself sweetheart or the founders will have to!!!
Hospitalized S/O
💛 Hashirama 💛
Oh my god did you want to give this boy a heartattack??? if that was the plan CONGRATS he’s gonna join u in hospital
Seriously, though, if you call him and say THAT? He won’t know what to do for a second
And then he runs to you. Hokage duties? If they can’t understand why he’s leaving in this circumstance that’s their problem, not his!
He knows his way around medicine a bit and he’ll feel SO terrible for not noticing sooner. Once he arrives at your bed, he’ll try to put on his serious voice to scold you for not speaking up sooner but honestly he can’t keep it up. He’s so shaken.
Fusses over you. He knows you need some peace and quiet but how is he supposed NOT to fuss over you??? Knowing he could’ve lost you is no joke!
“Why didn’t you tell me? Didn’t you notice? Are you alright? Do you need me to stay home more? Can I get you something? How are you feeling??” hashirama shut up challenge: failed
The more he sees how close it was for you, the more quiet he’ll be. He’s honestly so terrified of losing you, and there’s SO much guilt in him for leaving you alone. So once you feel a little better, he’ll have calmed down enough to have a serious but very emotional and kind talk with you about how you should ALWAYS tell him when something’s wrong with you. Please. He needs to know in order to help you.
If you didn’t even notice until it was nearly too late, he’ll skip all that and go straight to doting on you. He’ll do anything for you, and might even insist on you staying in bed even when you’re already feeling fine again.
💛 Tobirama 💛
Honestly, those words make him freeze on the spot for a moment. His brain doesn’t wanna process that. You? Nearly dying? While apparently safe and sound in the village? Uh-uh.
“What?!”
You won’t have to tell him where you are, this boy can sense you anywhere in the village. He’s learned to pick up the faintest traces of you - just in case. Just in case something like this happens.
Honestly he probably doesn’t even wait for you to explain yourself he’s running/teleporting to your side asap no questions asked. He needs to see you’re okay. He’s panicking.
Like, he knows they wouldn’t let you call him if you were still at the verge of death but asdfghjkl nothing makes this man’s brain stop working like knowing his spouse is in danger.
If you ignored the signs oh man he’ll be so mad. Like, he probably would’ve ignored the signs himself too, but it wasn’t him, it was you and that’s different. But one sad look from you and he’ll literally bite his lip to shut himself up. Decides to give you your verbal lesson once you’re out of the hospital.
If you didn’t realize how bad things were, he’ll still be grumpy, but more so because that makes it even more his fault for not being by your side. SURELY he would’ve noticed earlier, right?
He fusses over you in his own way. There’s no “the medicine is gross i don’t want it” with him, you’ll take that medicine and if it’s the last thing he does. He’ll take time off work for as long as he possibly can (and maybe a liiiittle bit longer) to make sure you’re really alright
Gets irrationally angry at any medical staff if your situation worsens and they can’t explain why. Threatens to bring his brother over if they don’t figure it out real quick.
Generally pretty unpleasant to be around but it’s just because fuck you scared the hell out of him. The thought that he could’ve lost you during a normal day at work? It fucks him up pretty bad. You’re the sick one but it’s good if you take the time to comfort this boy bc honestly he needs it.
💛 Madara 💛
Goes through the five stages of grief right then and there.
Doesn’t get angry or anything, just very serious. Very quiet. He drops what he’s doing and hurries to your side right away. Nobody’s gonna tell him no.
Honestly his mind is fucking racing and he’s so overwhelmed by what the hell’s going on so he tries to stay super serious and quiet and calm because he doesn’t wanna freak out. He doesn’t wanna freak you out.
Has no idea about medicine but insists they explain everything to him anyway. He needs to know what went wrong and if it could happen again, what he can do to help.
Honestly probably figures out some sharingan trick to check your vitals idk how but he works on it until he’s got SOMETHING to give him some kind of reassurance.
Once he finally sits down next to you, he tries to calm you down, because he remembers sitting at the bedside of wounded or dying soldiers and how panic gripped them, so. Even though you’re out of the woods already, he wants you to be calm and to feel looked after.
Also questions you, personally, about what happened. How you felt, how it went down, which signs you noticed, etc. You can probably feel his hand shaking a bit and the frown on his face but he tries to be calm around you, still.
Takes you home as soon as possible, though, because he just feels like you’ll recover there better. He’s got doctors in his clan, and being home helps.
Makes sure everyone dotes on you and brings you what you need. He’s got a lot of duties and can’t slack off, so whenever he really has to leave, he makes sure there’s lots of people you trust around to look after you.
💛 Izuna 💛
He’s in such a shock, he’ll probably stay on the phone with you wayyy too long just discussing what went wrong. Like shut UP izuna and go OVER there!!
He’s mad but not at you. He’s just generally in a terrible mood when he arrives because? How couldn’t he be? But then he sees you, giving him a weak / hesitant smile and you’ll see true worry in his eyes for the first time. Like, this whole time he was like “oh this girl is gonna GET it how DARE she not take care of herself????” but then he sees how hurt / weak you are and he’s ok oh. OH. fuck. That was a close call. He can’t handle that.
Doesn’t care at all what the medical staff has to tell him, he wants to hear everything from you. Definitely wants to be alone with you too, because he’s feeling so weak and vulnerable he doesn’t want anyone to see him like this except for you (and even then he’s got a bit of a difficult time showing it)
ALSO doesn’t really believe you when you say you’re doing better. You thought you were fine before and you nearly died, so ??? what if you’re still in danger??
Honestly doesn’t talk a lot this whole time. he knows he should comfort you but he’s struggling. you’ll probably have to comfort him for a while asdfghhjkl
But he also remembers being wounded and far closer to death than anyone wanted to admit, and he remembers that fear that gripped him. So he understands how you felt and doesn’t snap at you for “hiding your pain” but words of comfort don’t come easily to him
It’ll be easier once you’re released from the hospital. He’ll feel more comfortable at home, and will probably be more confident that you’re really okay. Will stay by your side any chance he gets and gets super snappy with Madara if he tries to make him work. He just. Wants to hold you for a while. Helps him process things ;W;
EVENTUALLY, when you’ve recovered and this moment is just a bad memory, he might tease you a bit about it, depending on how you’re feeling about the whole situation. if you can laugh about it, oh boy, he’ll give you so much shit - but if it’s something that still scares you, he’ll know to shut his fat mouth

Hi! Before anything else, I just wanted to say that I absolutely adore your writing! So the scenario I had in mind: Arthur gets severely injured on a job and reader gets really protective (She also gets extremely angry angry at whatever happened/whoever caused it. Tbh it was probably Micah). She then cares for Arthur day by day until he’s better. He says he doesn’t want to be fussed over but in reality he secretly likes it.
Thanks for sending this, Anon, and thank you for the compliment! 🥰 Fluffy Arthur is my favorite Arthur (I would fucking die for this man!)

You don’t like the look on Micah’s face. Not one bit. Then again, you’ve never trusted the slimy man leading you and Arthur down the muddy road of Valentine. He’s so damn arrogant and he always acts like his plans are going to go as smooth as butter, but then they almost always end in gunfire. There’s just something about him you don’t like.
Arthur’s by your side too, but if he’s as nervous as you are, he doesn’t show it. He and Micah trade some snappy remarks. They’ve never really liked each other, that much is obvious. Arthur holds your hand lazily, something he always likes to do when you’re both out and about. You squeeze his hand, wanting to let him know something doesn’t feel right. He squeezes back.
“Just relax, cowpoke,” Micah simpers, walking slightly ahead of the two of you. “This doctor's dim. I went and talked to him earlier, scoped the place out. This job’s on the level. You and your girl just go in there, rob whatever he’s got hidden in that back room, and get out. Easy as pie.”
“If it’s so easy, why didn’t you rob him when you was scopin’ the place?” Arthur retorts.
“Because I was playin’ injured, cowpoke. Besides, he’s likely to go snippin’ to the sheriff, what with him being next door. I ain’t so dumb as to rob the sheriff’s neighbor without someone to back me up.”
Arthur sighs. “Why do I get the feelin’ this is gonna end in us shootin’ our way out of this damn town?”
“Because that’s how Micah rolls,” you say, making sure he can hear you. “I ain’t ever known anyone so keen to trade bullets.”
“It ain’t gonna be like that! You both act like I go around, asking people to duel,” Micah growls. You roll your eyes. With Micah’s record, he might as well be doing that.
Micah leads you over to the doctor’s office. Then, leaning on a pillar holding up the building, he looks around, feigning innocence. “A’right, Y/N, you go and hold that doctor down. Arthur, go get the backroom. Should be easy. I’ll keep watch here, make sure no one suspects anything.”
“Why don’t you go rob the backroom and I’ll keep a watch on the street?” Arthur says.
“Because it’s my job, Morgan, I get to call the shots. Now do this quickly before someone sees us three lookin’ too chummy out here.”
Arthur mutters something but goes inside. You go in a second later and immediately pull out your pistol, aiming it at the doctor. “What you got in that backroom?” you growl.
The doctor, his face pale, licks his lips and raises his hands. “N-nothin’, I swear. Just a…. A friendly card game for folks willin’ to pay higher stakes.”
“Well why don’t we drop in on these high-payin’ folks?” Arthur says. He gestures with his revolver for the doctor to lead the way to the backroom. The doctor knocks on the metal door and a slot opens, revealing a pair of eyes. You and Arthur hide as to avoid being seen.
“J-just me,” the doctor says. “I brought some food and whiskey for you boys.”
“Eh, it’s only the doc.”
The door opens and you grab the doctor by his collar and shove him down into his exam chair, pointing your gun at him so he can’t run off to tattle. Arthur heads into the room and there’s immediate yells and a gun goes off. You hear something heavy fall, but you’re sure it’s nothing. Arthur’s more than capable of taking care of himself. That is until you hear someone inside laugh and say, “We got ‘im, boys! Arthur Morgan himself!”
Quickly, you smash your gun into the doctor’s head, knocking him out, then you dash into the room. There, you’re met by four O’Driscolls and a saloon girl. Arthur’s on the ground, sitting against a wall, a dark circle on his lower left side blooming wider. He’s groaning in pain, the gun knocked from his hand lying beyond his reach.
Before the O’Driscolls can point their guns from Arthur to you, you pull your trigger, taking them down with such speed it surprises even you. The saloon girl screams and backs into a corner.
“Don’t shoot!” she pleads.
“Arthur!” you whimper, ignoring her and going over to him. As you lean down to inspect him, he suddenly grabs your pistol and aims it at the saloon girl, who had managed to get a hold of one of the corpse’s guns. He shoots her and she falls.
“Oh, Goddamn it, Arthur!” you say. You unbutton his shirt and see a bullet wound below his ribs.
“It-it’s nothin’, darlin’.”
“Don’t look like nothin’. Come on.” With enormous effort, you help Arthur up to his feet. Then you haul him to the doctor’s exam chair, push the doctor’s unconscious body out of it, and plop Arthur into it.
“Okay, honey, stay with me. We gotta get this bullet out.”
“I’m fine, sweetheart. Just… let’s get out of here. That sheriff’s an idiot, but even he must’ve heard them gunshots.”
“I’ll be quick, Arthur. Just hold still.”
You run around the room, gathering instruments and bandages. You find a set of long, thin tongs, the perfect shape to do the job. Removing a bullet is a nasty business. You had it done once when you’d been shot in the leg years ago. It was one of the most painful things you’ve ever endured.
After gathering your things, you scour the doctor’s shelf up front. Micah peaks in.
“What the hell is taking so long? I talked the sheriff down since you couldn’t manage to keep things quiet.”
“Shut the fuck up, Micah. Arthur’s been shot. Just keep an eye out, make sure no one gets nosy.”
He rolls his eyes and leaves the room again. After hunting through the shelves, you come along a bottle of something labeled as aspirin. You’ve heard of this stuff, it was recently discovered to be a pain killer. You grab it and a bottle of unopened whiskey and go back to the room.
You shove several pills down Arthur’s throat and then pour some alcohol onto his wound. He yells out in pain, but then you instruct him to drink it.
“Arthur, this is gonna hurt like nothing else. But we gotta get this thing out,” you say sympathetically, holding the tongs.
He’s sweating profusely, but he nods and grips the arms of his chair. You work the cogs of the chair so it leans back, giving you a better angle. Then you go to work. It’s excruciating pain for him and you apologize as tears leak from his eyes. You pour more whiskey on the wound as you work, but you have to dig a bit to find the bullet. Finally, you grab it and pull it out. He gasps as you hold it up.
You quickly bandage him up, though you’re not satisfied with the job. Now there’s the problem of hiding his bloodied shirt so you can get him out of here. You help him to his feet and lead him to the front room and then quickly dash out to the horses, ignoring the blood on your hands. After retrieving his tan coat, you help him slide it on and then out to the horses. Micah’s waiting next to them, clearly impatient.
“So much for me bein’ the one who starts the gunfire,” Micah growls.
“Shut the fuck up before I put a bullet in your head,” you snarl. It takes all your strength to help Arthur up into his saddle, but he’s a trooper. He does his best to act normal as you all walk out of town, but it’s clear he’s in a lot of pain.
As soon as he’s in Horseshoe Overlook, you walk him over to his cot and he plops down into it. He pants heavily and you put your hand on his chest, sitting down by his side.
“Easy, honey. You can rest now.”
He grabs your hand, comforted by your presence. Slowly, you undress him, flinging his ruined shirt to the side. After closing the flaps of the tent so the others won’t see him lying half naked in his bed, you rejoin his side.
****************************************
Over the next couple of weeks, you care for Arthur, hardly letting him leave his cot. He keeps pleading with you to stop fussing over him, that he’s an adult who can care for himself, but he loves it. He loves how protective you’ve gotten over him. Hell, Micah isn’t even allowed on this side of camp anymore. He’d probably have better chances of fighting off a cougar than you. Even Sean knows not to come over and rib Arthur for being laid up, even though he means it all in good fun.
Every day, you’ve gone out to collect fresh herbs from the surrounding area that will help with his pain. Not only that, but you usually bring back a rabbit or a turkey, some kind of small animal. Instead of giving them to Pearson though, you cook them over the scout fire and give Arthur as much as he can eat. He complains that he’s going to gain more weight than he’d like, but he secretly likes that you’re doing it.
Every night, he pulls you into his arms, stating you can’t go around being strong for the both of you all day. You love cuddling with him like this, hearing his heartbeat beneath your head, his warm skin against yours, his fingers tracing your scalp or back.
Of course, sometimes these evening cuddles lead to further activities, but you never let him be the dominant one. Usually he’s the top, but when he’s laid up like this, you won’t let him. Instead of being disappointed, he finds it incredibly sexy how you take control of things. He definitely intends to let things go this way after this.
Hosea comes up to him one day while you’re out collecting herbs. He’s one of the few people who can safely walk this close to your tent without fear of getting their ass kicked. He takes a seat next to Arthur, who’s writing in his journal.
“That girl eased up on you yet?” Hosea asks.
Arthur smiles softly. “No. Honestly I don’t think she intends to until this is barely even a scar anymore.” He gestures down to his bandages.
Hosea lets out a soft chuckle. “She’s tough, that girl. I’ve never seen Dutch so afraid of talking to someone before. Pretty sure she’s the only thing preventing him from coming over to you and begging you to get out there and ‘make us some money’.”
Arthur laughs. “Dutch is scared of her, huh?”
“You would be too if you saw how she looks at pretty much all of us. I’m surprised Micah’s still sticking around, honestly. She, uh, clocked him in the jaw the other night when he made it sound like you messed up in that doctor’s office.”
“I did mess up, Hosea. I wasn’t prepared enough. I just thought it’d be some ranchers who got more money in their pockets than most folk in that town. I didn’t expect those damn O’Driscolls.”
“It ain’t your fault, son. But you’ll be fine. Hell, you ain’t allowed to be anything else with that girl looking after you.”
Arthur chuckles again. “So she really gave Micah a good one, huh?”
“Oh yes. He’s got this big ol’ bruise on his face now. Like I said, I’m surprised he’s still in camp when she’s here.”
“Hosea, I uh, I been thinkin’. I wanna marry her.”
Hosea sits up straighter. “You sure? I know how your last engagement went, Arthur.”
“That was completely different, Hosea. I was young and dumber then. This ain’t the same. Y/N ain’t Mary. She’s…. She’s far better, and she makes me feel like I ain’t just a killer and a bad man. I… I don’t know how to describe what I feel about her, Hosea. All I know is if I don’t ask her, it’ll be the biggest regret of my life.”
Hosea smiles and puts his hand on Arthur’s shoulder. “Well, I’m happy for you, son. Being married was the best thing I ever did, and Y/N’s a special woman. You’d be a fool for not asking her.”
Just then, Hosea looks up to see you coming over, your hands full of herbs. He waves to you, in which you return it. He gives Arthur a curt nod and heads off.
“Hey, sweetheart,” Arthur says, closing his journal. You return the greeting and sit down by his feet, getting your things together to start grinding the herbs up.
“Hold on, sweetheart. Before ya get busy, come here.”
“Why?” you say, looking up at him.
“Just come here. Please?” he says, holding his arms out to you.
With a soft smile, you get up and crawl into his arms, letting him fold them around you and hold you close. He kisses your head softly, never wanting to let you go. He wants to ask you right now to be his wife, but the timing feels wrong. He wants it to be special, wants you to know how much he adores you.
“Thank you, darlin’, for everythin’ you done.”
“Of course, Arthur. I’d do it all over again if I needed to.” You place a soft kiss over his heart that makes him almost swoon. He knows now that he will never stop loving you.
Just as he’s about to say something, Strauss comes over and interrupts. “Herr Morgan, I have another job for you.”
“What is it, Strauss?” he asks, pinching the bridge of his nose.
“I lent money to a fellow named Downes. Thomas Downes. I need you to reclaim the debt. Beat him, if you must.”
As quick as lightning, you leap up and glare at Strauss. Arthur’s told you how much he loathes this sharking business. You’re tired of it too. It’s a foul business and one you want him having no part of.
“If this money’s so important to you, Strauss, why don’t you go get it yourself?” you snarl.
He looks at you haughtily. “Because, Y/N, people are happy to take money from a man like me, but less willing to give it back.”
“Well then maybe you need to grow a damn spine for once and do your own damn dirty work. Either that or find another way of making money for the gang. One with less… filth.”
“I am the one feeding you and the other women in camp-” he begins but you shove him so hard he takes several steps back.
“Bullshit! How many days have Arthur spent out there slaving away to bring down animals and sling ‘em back to camp? You ain’t feedin’ no one but yourself! How many folks have we all robbed and stolen from, while you just go out peddling a few bucks here and there. You’re a sad, lyin’, miserable sack of shit who has no place here! No get out of my sight before I put a bullet in your skull!”
Strauss, his eyes wide and his lizardish lips parted, starts heading away from you quickly, his tail between his legs. As he scurries off, you scream at him one last time.
“And if you ever tell my man to get your damn money back, I’ll throttle ya, is that clear?”
He doesn't respond but you know he heard you. After letting out a long sigh, you turn back to Arthur, who’s looking at you surprised.
“What?” you say.
He swallows. “Damn, darlin’, that was-”
“Long overdue?” you say.
“No, well yes, but I was gonna say that was one of the sexiest things I ever seen.”
You blush and smile at him.
“You got anymore of that energy left in ya?” he says, his eyes sliding down your body.
“Why?”
“‘Cause I was thinkin’ you better close these flaps and show me what else you got.”
With a giggle, you do as he says. Then you take him so hard Arthur will never forget this afternoon. In fact, he will hold onto it for many years and on the days when he needs you physically but you aren’t around, he’ll use it to help relieve the pressure while being alone.
As the two of you go at it, he wishes again to ask you to marry him, but you’ve got him groaning and panting so hard he can barely work out two words. One thing is clear to him though: not marrying you will be the dumbest thing he could possibly do.

okay so. i’m just gonna rant. about some pain i’ve been experiencing for a while. like, we’re getting into it
if anyone would like to put in their two cents, feel free. im kinda just yelling about my problems into a void, but im definitely not gonna stop people who might know what this is from giving me advice.
idk. my brains shutting down a bit.
TDLR: my left arm has been in constant pain for three days. it’s probably nerves or something. i’m very addled rn. i hate the world i want to sleep for a millennia. i also have had similar, smaller pain issues over a course of 4 months. i hate it here. i would very much like this to not be a thing, please.
so this story starts the mid may. my last month of school. i’m suffering through just to end this bullshit. but i notice that p much every time i have to do some slightly more than normal walking, some random body part of mine will just be in this sort of dull pain.
and i just kinda go. huh. okay. ow. and brush it off. this continues. it’s pretty minor, (like barely a 1/10 on a scale) but enough for me to be mildly annoyed by it on occasion.
go to two weeks before my school lets out for summer.
i get appendicitis and have surgery for it. i’m fine. that situation went better than expected, i was just not the most comfortable.
appendicitis pain traditionally presents in the lower right quadrant of the abdomen. right next to a shit ton of nerves. and the pain i’m going through starts to affect my leg. can’t really walk without alarms going on.
it gets better. i’m not like. comfortable, but i’m just taking ibuprofen a few times a day and managing decently. 3.5/10 pain level average.
but then, as i start going out and living life as a teenager in the summer (hanging out with one person semi-regularly, and doing weird family lunches), i start to notice that most times i leave the house, i’ll come back home with some pretty decent pain in assorted parts of my body.
like my back will hurt, which i just blame on my shit posture. but then it’ll be a weird muscle connected to my ankle or some shit when i am very well known for hating any and all sports except for hockey. which i don’t play.
so i’m not doing things to pull muscles, but i’m feeling twinges of pain kind of a lot. which sucks.
but i brush it off, now consciously keeping an eye on it and taking ibuprofen when needed.
pain levels steadily rise over time, but it’s still at about a 4/10 for the most part. there’s the occasional spike to a 6, but that’s not frequent.
keep going on to mid-july. every time i leave the house, i’m feeling dull ache/twinges in multiple places and my knees feel really fucking off a lot of the time. almost like if your knees were crooked or something?? idk.
but it’s still 5.5 on the worst day. so i just kinda hesitantly mention this to my mom. who’s used to me complaining anyway, but i make it clear that it’s been going on for a while, and it feels like somethings wrong.
and she says “oh yeah we can think about seeing a doctor.”
and i just. okay! cool. fun. rad. sick. vague pain. that’s my favorite activity. i love everything about this.
but i just grit my teeth and bear it. still doing the ibuprofen thing when my ignore it and distract yourself strategy doesn’t work.
now, end of july. trucking along. i’m at least in mind discomfort pretty much all the time. sucks. hate it. i’m concerned.
go to the 31. i pull a crazy all-nighter because i have chemical imbalances in my brain and shit just happens. i stay up for like 44 hours. wild. i sit at my desk for a while, drawing and i notice “wow my left shoulder doesn’t feel that great. huh. i have been sitting here for a while.”
so i go do something else but it doesn’t feel fantastic. almost like a buzzing in parts of my back and my upper arm. on my left arm. i am right handed. don’t know what that’s about.
go to sleep sunday night, i wake up to it just being worse. (also i have some weird circulation problems because of genetics. just random shit. no pain whatsoever. just funky.)
like wtf that’s a 4 right as i’m waking up. what the actual fuck. don’t like that.
but i was raised catholic so none of us talk to each other. so i just joke about my body organizing a shitty coup d’état to a friend and chalk it up to a fucked up muscle. but it’s like kind of moving?? a bit?? weird as fuck. don’t like it. still dull pain, but certainly something that pops up into my conscious mind like 10 times a day.
i didn’t do anything would result in a pulled muscle (trust me. my school is really intense about theatre and show choir. hard core choreography in everything that i practice 3 times a week during school+whatever play/musical) so i’m really just making excuses to soothe my brain and i know it. full denial.
i took ibuprofen the first and second day. can still tell it’s happening, but it sucks less.
yesterday i play a shit ton of guitar, and i can feel my upper arm cramping up and shit (which. oW. 5.7/10. WHAT THE HELL.) even though there is no strain on my left arm except for pressing my fingertips into some strings. no shoulder shit going on.
so i try to stretch out. no help.
and then the adhd medication instead of sleeping medication debacle happens and i don’t go to bed even though i actively tried to multiple times. i write a poem instead.
hurts mildly the whole time. it starts kind of limiting the functions of my arm. which. what the actual fuck. stiff, a bit seized up in especially bad pain moments.
i get focused on writing a poem and shit i only 20 minutes to get ready to leave for my appointment.
i forgot to take any ibuprofen, and it was already reaching 5.85 levels from sitting in my room.
in the car and in the orthodontist office, my left arm is completely fucking useless to me. half of my brain at all times is focused on like “oW OW OW OW OW” because it’s reached a point where i can’t really ignore it. it’s just there now. moving it isn’t great, it sitting in place isn’t fun either.
i’m at 6.5 levels. from the round trip of like 20-ish minutes, it’s raised that much. a lot of internal dialogue about it.
on the way to the orthodontist, i’m talking to my mom about it. she, sounding kind of annoyed, asks “what, do you want to see a doctor?”. i say “honestly? yes. it’s been 3 days nonstop. steady rise. there’s something genuinely wrong. i’m concerned about it.”
it feels like someone is poking around inside my arm with electricity or some shit. whole arm. shifting localizations and slight fluctuation in pain level. rapid escalation even just today.
i explain what it feels like in less wordy terms. and she says “that’s sounds like it could be nerve-related.”
it’s been three days. i’m exhausted. this has already taken a pretty significant mental toll, let alone discomfort level.
i have a high pain tolerance. i only started actively complaining about appendicitis pain the night before it exploded. that shit festers longer than overnight. i had been i pain for half the week before i said shit. and i just kinda sucked it up until i felt like i couldn’t walk without needing hella support.
but it’s really fucking getting to me. shit ton of weird tension, buzzing. just. constant painful buzz moving around.
i express this. “it’s a non-stop pain bad enough to be something i am fully aware of at any given second. if i stare off, im probably thinking about my arm.” and she kinda dismisses it.
it’s been like an hour, and i’ve gone up to 6.8 levels multiple times. based on patterns, it’s not just gonna stop any time soon, and i’m really good at working around weird problems like this.
like i said. pain every time i go out.
i’m good at hiding when i’m not 100%, but this is beyond me. it’s like someone’s just stabbing me with tacs over and over again. on my entire left arm and on the rare occasion, part of my leg.
i’m so genuinely uncomfortable, and i would this to not be a thing anymore.

@septemberlove i have. no excuse for how late these are but uh. thank you for sending these in 💕.
[word count: 1.8k+ with the longest 'authors note' bc im mentally ill]
sfw, mmm comfy cozy, general sick hcs,
storm - what are cozy days in with your f/o like?
Whenever I think of cozy days, my brain immediately goes to rainy/chilly weather where we can cuddle up together and my brain short fuses. I'm gonna assume this is just like a day off or something though!
How I visual them together vs how I write them is odd because they technically don't act or accept they're 'together' until after the comics but I always write them like they're in a Steady Relationship while on base. I'm always writing a slight AU if you will. Or maybe it's after they get their jobs back at Mann co - I should highkey adjust that but No ♥️. No more thinking, just content based off my idealized universe.
There's definitely a point in their relationship where it's like 'I think I have to put in a little more work here'. I'm not saying either party is slacking but they're slacking ♥️. Neither of them really take action. Chef doesn't blame him or really complain about it because that's their nature, plus they don't know how romantic relationships really work or flow, especially with a person like him. Medic doesn't see an issue with anything and continues on with his normal business.
What I mean by slacking is, there's not a lot of quality time being spent together which would be fine if it wasn't both of their strongest Love Languages, which could help them strengthen their relationship. It's odd because they're 'romantically involved' but they don't spend a lot of time together for either of them to consider it romantic, simply because it's on company time.
ANYWAYS THATS JUST ME BEING CONVOLUTED. FEEL FREE TO JUST IGNORE ALL OF THIS.
Medic goes to bed pretty late and wakes up at a fairly early hour. Chef is a late sleeper and forced to be an early riser because their Actual Job is to make at least 2 or 3 meals a day (if they want something else, they're on their own but hate when anyone messes up the kitchen and will honestly, stand there and watch said person).
There's minimal time they can spend together if they want to do their own activities - for Medic, it's tinkering around with organs or in Engie's garage, for Chef, they're typically meal prepping or trying to tend to an animal or plant of some sort.
Medic is actually more direct about wanting attention and it's never been a problem because he's cautious about it. Chef is more emotionally inclined and willing to drop hints that they want more attention.
Chef probably has one day off where it's a complete free for all, for the rest of the team, which would be the perfect time to spend with Medic - If he wanted to stop working, that is. Just don't picture it but, Chef will literally sit in the medbay for hours just to be near the guy, but it isn't bad? The drone of machinery or the scratching of his pen is relaxing, or having his doves nearby is always sweet! Plus, he's prone to talking their ear off when he finds something interesting, so they'll chime in and have some back and forth.
But, yknow - sometimes having someone's undivided attention is nice and Chef is pretty dense when it comes to that and wonders why they feel so upset.
They swallow their pride and ask Medic if they sleep in his room one night and Medic's not as dense as Chef, he understands that they'd never ask for something so out of the blue for no reason and he promises to finish up his work early so they could head to bed together. Chef had nothing planned, they literally just needed that affection and closeness - since it was their day off Medic takes the hint and puts his work aside for the time being.
They'd probably sleep in and stay in bed a while longer before getting ready together - no uniform required. Chef isn't so talkative in the mornings, Medic's noticed, but they were happily fiddling with his buttons and tie, humming in thought before answering his questions. Medic's seen them out of uniform of course, but it's always funny seeing them in just a button up and jeans like … mom on the go vibes. Medic leaves his coat behind before making his way to the kitchen with Chef.
The kitchen usually has a couple people loitering around, grabbing their coffee or honestly, waiting around for Chef because they always make extra and these bitches are lazy. But the kitchen has now become A Medic Supremacy Zone and he has first dibs - the benefits of being w/ Chef I guess. The two would work as if the others weren't there, keeping their conversation between each other even if that means Medic tilting his head down while Chef leans in closer to reply. There's a high possibility the other have left them to their own devices, seeing as the couple was ignoring them / knows they won't be getting anything. Breakfast isn't extraordinary but it feels special since they actually get to sit across each other and share the morning today.
It's possible that they'd go out and run some errands today, but it's a cover to window shop and walk around. I'll be honest, they probably haven't had proper dates so it's refreshing. You could ask Chef what they liked the most and they're just like :] Yes.
Other times, they like to curl up and catch up with some reading (well, Medic at least) while Chef rests against him and skim over the words. They're not too invested in what he's reading but likes to have some idea of what he's talking about so they don't ask too many questions. (Very 'these words are big and english/german is not my first language + I can't read as fast as you can so I got lost 7 pages ago). Medic likes to watch Chef garden and tries to help them tend to whatever they're able to grow in the goddamn desert. He overwaters a cactus and looks away if it dies. Chef talks ab how they're growing mint and how it really took off while Medic's standing there like :] Oh, lets make tea with that. Because they're Old People (read: Medic is old)
🕊🐁
ivy - how do you take care of each other when you’re sick?
Chef is easier to take care of when they're sick. They continue working until they're pretty beat but once they feel sick and a break doesn't work, they'll try to finish up what they can before turning in early. They see themselves to bed and inform whoever's near that they won't ne there at dinner and if they really cant figure it out, then come get them - other than that, they're barricading themselves in their room.
When they're sick they're REALLY sick but recovery time is usually a few days (depending on how bad it is). They basically hibernate and don't like being disturbed. They're used to not fending for themselves since they've been on their own for a while but really appreciate all the check ins Medic does w/ them, especially when they're all better.
Medic, being...their Medic, he definitely gives them a check up when they first begin showing symptoms and he can be a stickler when it comes to drinking fluids and eating properly. Chef usually has a  finicky stomach as it is so Medic really urges them to drink soups and easy foods like bread and crackers. He checks in on them A LOT, even if that's just peeking in to see if they're asleep or not. He backs off when Chef gives him a cold stare from under the covers and minimizes his intrusions/tries to be more sneaky about it. He has colder hands and they let out a sigh when he puts his hand to their cheek or forehead to check their temperature.
Chef doesn't hesitate to take any medication he has for them, mostly bc they aren't fully coherent but they also don't have energy to care, in fact they have the thought that if he accidentally kills them, maybe respawn will cure them. Unfortunately, Medic debunks this before they can even muster up the energy to ask.
Overall 7.5/10, very good patient. Will refuse to get up and accidently falls asleep in the shower which scares the shit out of him.
Medic on the other hand is very stubborn and doesn't like to stop working unless there's something that physically stops him (ex: vomiting, serious injuries [unlikely bc medigun], etc). If he tricked the Devil, surely the man can beat the common cold or flu! Unfortunately he gets those full body shivers and feels terrible. He can be pretty dramatic when he's sick and everyone's subjected to his bad attitude.
It's Chefs turn to play doctor - they can tell by looks alone that he's under the weather. His face is flushed and he's a bit sloppily put together, which isn't *too uncommon* but his tie isn't tied and his glasses lamely slide down his nose. They tsk a bit while taking his temperature just to keep track of it before ushering him to his room.
He can be dragged to bed if persistent enough. Chef's firm hold on his arm is enough for him to get off his chair and have them tug him along. He doesn't have any room to argue with them as they look up at him, so he relents, stating that a short break would definitely do him good, but he'll be up and at em by tomorrow.
Chef is doting and becomes a bit of a helicopter parent when checking on him. This mostly consists of peeking their head in but not really stepping in the room. Every so often they'll wake him up to drink water and either hand him an ice pack or offer a cold towel and move to dab at his forehead and neck.
Medic hasn't been too keen on having others taking care of him bc that's HIS job, and he often tries to shoo Chef away by saying he's more than alright now. Sometimes he's caught sitting up in bed doing work or taking notes on something bc he's a bit restless when he's sick and stationary for too long.
But he's right. He's very good at taking care of himself - when Chef offers him food he'll force himself to eat some of it and he's drinks plenty of fluids without needing reminders. He kinda bosses Chef around, telling them to grab certain medications from the Medbay. They trust his judgment on his own health and bring him what he asks for but Chef keeps a mental note of what he takes and when. Don't need the doctor accidentally taking too many pills today!
Overall 6.5/10. It's hard to get him into bed and becomes restless fairly easily. He is persistent that he's ok after one day of rest only to be found sneezing himself away in the Medbay.

fezco x reader; old flame #2
notes: so this is part 2, i’m planning on doing this kind of a back story to what we see in euphoria, or more like what we don’t see about fezco. feedback is always cool, so tell me what you think!
part 1 part 3
 fez:
im leaving the party now
you:
it’s only 4am, tired of hanging out with teenagers already?
 fez:
fuck off
ur at the hospital shoudlnt u be payin attention to ur patients???
 you:
just finished my shift asshole, i’m going home now
 fez:
want me to pick u up?
 you:
don’t worry i’ll ask one of my coworkers to drive me
 fez:
already on my way, see u now
You walked straight to the hospital cafeteria, where you usually waited 30 minutes until this one nurse could drive you home. You hadn’t been in town for long, but you had already scoped out who has their own vehicle, and had managed to be friendly enough to catch a ride every ride. You didn’t need a car when you lived in the city, the bus or the underground worked just fine. Now you really were in need of a car. That, or Fez could simply become your personal chauffeur.
 fez:
go to the front of the hospital
You got into his car that you knew so well. It smelled like weed most of the time. It made you reminiscence of the times when you’d drive to parties in his car during high school.
“You didn’t need to.”
“Just say ‘thanks’”.
“Thanks.” You rolled your eyes, but he could see a small smile on your lips, he knew you were thankful. “So, how was the party?”
“You know teenagers. Lots of sex, lots of alcohol and lots of drugs.”
“You know alcohol is drug, don’t you?”
“Yes doctor, I know that.”
“Just saying.”
You laid your head against the window and your eyes started to close. These night shifts were killing you. You had Fez to keep you entertained most nights. He had taken to texting you almost every night. You didn’t know how he managed to stay awake so late and still function like a normal human the next day, but you weren’t complaining.
“You gon’ fall asleep on me?”
“Sorry.” You tried to focus on him to avoid falling asleep again. He looked handsome that night. He always did, but every time you saw him it seemed like he looked even better. “So, did you get any?”
“Interested?” He said in a teasing tone. You liked that smirk, although most times it just made you stutter pathetically.
“As far as I’m concerned, you’re the one who had a crush on me.” You said, and you were pleased to see the blood rushing to his pale cheeks.
“Who told you that?”
“No one. You were pretty obvious.”
He sighed. “Then why didn’t you say anything?”
You shrugged. “You never asked me out either. Maybe I got it wrong, I wasn’t gonna risk it.”
His face turned more serious. “I knew you wouldn’t say ‘yes’. A school drop-out and a girl who was going to one of those Ivy League med-schools? That’s some Hollywood movie shit.”
“So that’s the reason why you didn’t ask me out? Funny, I just thought you didn’t have the balls to ask.” It brought a smile back to his face.
“You ain’t that intimidating, sweetheart.”
“That’s why you still have a hard time looking me in the eye when we talk?”
He chuckled. “Shit, Y/N. Feeling brave tonight? You sure you haven’t had anything to drink?”
You took a deep breath. Having a drink would have been definitely helpful to have this conversation. “You know I had a crush on you too, right? Since ninth grade.” The air in the car was dense. You were close to opening the car the window, needing to feel the wind in your face.
“Well, would’ve been cool to know this back then.”
“I mean...” It was your time to smirk at him. “We’re here now.”
He returned the smirk. “That’s good to know.”
You didn’t speak again while the ride lasted, but his hand had slipped to your thigh, drawing random patterns on your skin, and soon you started to doze off again.
You woke up when the car came to a halt. You looked around the street and then back at Fez. “This isn’t my home.”
“It’s mine. I assumed, given where the conversation was going, you wouldn’t mind.”
You laughed, that bastard. “Guess I don’t.”
You followed him inside the house. You weren’t sure about what to do or where to go, so you just followed him around. He went to a room at the back of the corridor. “That’s my room. Wait in there, I’m gonna check on my grandma, okay?”
You nodded and did as told. His room was kinda messy, but still, pretty comfortable. It was full of personal stuff, things he liked, which made it way cosier. His voice startled.
“Think I have some clothes you can wear. Wait a minute.”
“A t-shirt’s just fine.”
He laughed quietly. “Okay.” He started digging around his wardrobe while you just sat by his bed. “Here”. You grabbed the t-shirt and started stripping off your clothes. His eyes were glued to you. You didn’t turn around. What was the point in hiding? He started stripping at the other side of the bed and god, only if you weren’t so tired.
“Damn, ma. Wasn’t planning on fucking tonight, but I might just change my mind.”
You looked at him. He had tripped down to his boxers. It seemed like he didn’t plan on wearing something else. Thank God.
“Why you didn’t plan on having sex?”
“`Cause the moment your head hits the pillow you gon’ fall asleep.”
You sighed. It was probably true. You got under the blankets. These night shifts were really catching up to you.
“Come here.” He was lying on his back, arm extended toward you. You swiftly put your head on his chest, nuzzling your nose into his neck. He surrounded you with his arm, and left his hand fall on your ass. You gave a little jump, but you didn’t catch his boastful smile.
“This okay?”
You nodded, not trusting your voice. You fell asleep soon after, in the arms of your high school crush, who fell asleep grasping your ass. Hell, this really was some Hollywood movie shit.

Mutt’s hospital visit
Ahhhh... Finally i got to writing! This took too long! Not one of my best works, but hey... This is extra bad, because my knowledge of hospitals and medicine are very limited
Next
Content warning: hospital, broken ribs, mention of other injuries, modern slavery, past abuse
Tag list: @castielamigos-whump-side-blog @burtlederp @im-not-rare-im-rarr @comfortforthepain @18-toe-beans @haro-whumps @deluxewhump @kungpao-giffy @draganies @spiffythespook @whump-chains @projectstripe
Gavin should have noticed sooner. It was so obvious. Any other person would have noticed. Everything was pointing to it. The coughing, Caleb’s shallow and careful breathing, the way he occasionally clutched his side in pain when he thought Gavin wasn’t paying attention to him. But Gavin didn’t notice, did he? Not until he finally came around to asking Caleb to show him what’s wrong and saw the very unnatural shift of rib bones along his right side.
And Gavin’s ignorance is precisely the reason he’s currently driving as fast as he dares, heart rate going a whole lot faster then it probably should in a healthy human, whilst Caleb sits on the passenger seat, looking equal parts absolutely terrified and confused. Gavin should have noticed sooner. Caleb could have died of internal bleeding! Hell, he could be dying right now!
“Just… Just hang in there Caleb. It’s fine. You’re… You’re going to be fine! This is all fine! You are not dying!” Gavin wondered who he was actually trying to reassure; Caleb, or himself. Gavin glances over at Caleb. Caleb does not look reassured.
“D… Dying?! I’m… I’m dying?” Gavin curses himself for being this shit at handling stress situations.
“No. No. It’s fine Caleb. I… You’re going to be fine! It’s just… just broken ribs. It’s fine.” Turning his attention back to the road, Gavin tries to get his breathing in check, attempting a few slow and deep breaths in a row. Gavin can feel Caleb’s eyes on him, getting the feeling that the man next to him is burning to ask him something, but doesn’t dare to say anything.
“You want to say something, right? Go on. You always have my permission to speak.” Gavin’s words come out a bit choked between his shitty attempts at calm breathing. He can see Caleb fidgeting with his hands in the corner of his eye.
“I… Mas… I… I mean Gavin I…” He closes his eyes, swallowing hard. He clenches his fists before speaking louder, faster and clearer than Gavin heard him ever before. “If you’re bringing me to a… a Pet pound because of a… a few br… broken ribs, I… I beg you not to! I can st… still work! I can be… be useful a… and good, eve… even if I am damaged goods!” For a moment, Gavin can’t say anything. But he jumps back into action when he can see Caleb curling in on himself again, looking horrified at how he just spoke back to his Master. Gavin can sense him going into apologising and begging for forgiveness mode.
“No! I’m not taking you to a Pet pound!” Gavin stops. He’s being too loud. He can’t get loud with Caleb. He tries again, keeping his voice at a moderate level. “I would never Caleb. “ Caleb is staring at his wrists. “Caleb… Please look at me.” Caleb obeys, as he always does. “I can’t look at you right now. Don’t want to get us caught up in a car accident as well… But please. Trust me when I say, I’m not going to give you away. Not now, not ever.” Gavin feels Caleb itching to ask something again.
“It’s okay if you want to ask something Caleb. I won’t see it as rude.” Caleb resumes his fidgeting again.
“I… Ga… Gavin, whe… where are we go… going then?” Good question. Where are they going to? Caleb needs medical care. And fast. Gavin is not risking a man’s death over said man’s assurance that he can work on with broken ribs. Pet medical facilities have the biggest array of different treatments, but Gavin doesn’t trust them, nor does he like the rumours he’s heard about the places. And it could very well scare Caleb, seeing one of those places, and he might assume Gavin might still want to give him away.
No. no way in hell is Gavin taking Caleb to one of those places.
Normal hospitals offer limited treatment for Pets, but only in emergency situations. Well if this wouldn’t be counted as a emergency situation, Gavin didn’t know what would. Gavin shuddered. His dislike of hospitals is big, but he wouldn’t risk a humans life because of one of his silly dislikes.
Caught deep in thought, Gavin almost misses a turn, and ends up having to do it a little too fast and sharp. Caleb gets caught unready for the sudden change of direction, and hits the car door with his shoulder. He grunts in pain, wrapping his arm around his right side as the movement must have jostled his ribs. Guilt pools in Gavin’s stomach, hot and sharp.
“Shit, Caleb, I am so sorry! Crap… Sorry! I’ll try to drive more careful!” Gavin is aware that he’s being too loud, but he can’t help it. Caleb just has a confused and pained expression plastered on his face. Well, at least he probably didn’t mistake me raising my voice as signs of anger, Gavin thinks.
Gavin decides against saying anything else, knowing that he keeps saying thing that just make Caleb worry more. Shutting up is his best option here. And that he does for the rest of the drive. There are no more issues with Gavin’s terrible driving leading to more pain for Caleb, but the way he takes every breath with extreme caution worries Gavin a lot.
Getting Caleb out of the car needs a little bit of patience and gentle coaxing, fear evident on the smaller man’s still bruised face. It’s obvious Caleb wants to obey, but the fear is keeping him from doing that, causing him even more distress. Eventually, Gavin manages to get him out, promising him that he won’t leave his side, and telling him that he can hold on to him if that makes him feel better.
Cautiously, pale, frail fingers wrap around Gavin’s left arm gently, as Caleb’s worried eyes skim across the parking lot. Gavin smiles reassuringly, lightly placing his bigger hand over the smaller, scarred one clutching to his upper arm.
“You’re doing great Caleb.” Caleb doesn’t look like he’s sure he should be allowed to believe that.
Keeping his pace slow as to accommodate for Caleb’s limp, Gavin starts walking towards the entrance of the hospital. Gavin’s concern spikes at how small and breakable Caleb looks clinging to his arm. It’s only been approximately two days since Gavin first saw Caleb kneeling on the floor before him in Mr. Hughes house, but Gavin already knows that if it came to it, he’d be ready to take bullets for this guy. Caleb deserves more love and care and positive attention then Gavin could ever give him and it burns him up inside that people like his boss would find pleasure and amusement in abusing people like him.
Caleb has a poorly concealed expression of pain spread to every corner of his face, worrying Gavin further.
As they step into the hospital, Caleb moves a little closer to Gavin, so close that he’s pressed right against his side. Gavin takes his hand in his.
“Hey… It’s okay. I won’t leave your side.”
Caleb mumbles a quiet “Thank you Master.” in response.
Once at the reception desk, Gavin contemplates just not mentioning that Caleb is a Pet, but eventually decides against it. The chip would get noticed, and he’d only prologue Caleb’s wait for treatment and get them both into trouble.
So he has to explain to the man at the desk, probably in his early forties with black hair and reading glasses, that he’s actually Caleb’s owner. The man’s smile fades to a frown.
“Oh. You’re one of those people. Well you just need to go right down that hall, and at the far left, you’ll find a door leading to the Pet ward. Good luck finding it.” He does nothing to conceal the disgust in his voice or expression. Gavin nods and smiles, before going in the direction the receptionist pointed him. Guilt blooms in Gavin’s chest once again.
It doesn’t take them too long to get there, even with Caleb’s limp. He’s obviously pushing himself hard to walk fast.
Once in the ward, Gavin is greeted with another reception desk, this time maned by a young blond girl, currently typing something on the computer in front of her. She looks up at Gavin, and then over at Caleb. She frowns at Caleb, probably because of the terrified way he clings to Gavin’s side, and the bruises littering his face and neck.
“Yes?” Her voice has a hint of sadness to it.
“I well… Um…” He points at Caleb. “He’s got like… seriously bad looking broken ribs all along his right side and I don’t know how long he’s had them and he could be dying of internal bleeding and he’s in a lot of pain, like… a lot! And I don’t know if some of the bones pierced some of his internal organs or something! It looks really bad!” Gavin couldn’t stop the spew of words from coming from his mouth, barely remembering that he still has to breath.
“Woah there Mister, calm down! Can you show me how bad it looks?” Quietly apologising to Caleb, he tugs his t-shirt up and shows her his right side. “Yeah… That doesn’t look good… I’ll make sure to get a doctor to see you as soon as possible.” She grabs a piece of bright yellow paper and a pen from the side and hands both to Gavin. “In the meantime, fill this out. Waiting room’s over there.”
She points to a door to the side. Gavin nods and steps into the waiting room, Caleb still clutching to his arm.
There aren’t many other people in the waiting room. There’s an elder lady with a tired expression on her face sitting on a chair with a female Pet sitting at her feet. She looks like a rather high class pet, dressed rather fancily. She has her knees drawn up to her chest an her eyes closed. There is a second woman siting in a chair further away. She looks younger and seriously pissed. She has a male Pet kneeling at her feet, a less high class pet then the other woman. The Pet has his arm cradled to his chest, it looks bent in an odd angle. There is a third Pet kneeling in the corner. It seems his Owner has left him here, probably to impatient or busy to wait with his Pet. The Pet has burns running up and down his arms. They don’t look all too bad, but cover a big enough area to need to have someone have a look at them.
Gavin sits down, making sure that Caleb sits in the chair right next to him. The elder lady seems put off by this. Gavin ignores her displease expression and starts filling out the formalities on the paper. It doesn’t ask much. Just basics, like the owners name, address, phone number and year of birth. It asks even less of the Pet. Merely their number and why they where brought here. Gavin has forgotten Caleb’s number by now. He leans closer to Caleb.
“What’s your number again?” He keeps his voice gentle and quiet.
“43002612” Caleb sounds a bit scared. Gavin can feel him trembling beside him. Gavin puts the paper to the side and turns to Caleb.
“Hey… You’re doing so great. And I really mean it. I know how stressful and scary hospitals can be.” He gently takes his Pet’s hand in his, rubbing his thumb across the back of it. “Is the pain bad? Please be honest.”
Caleb stares at Gavin, hesitating, before very cautiously nodding. Gavin frowns.
“But you’re doing really good.” Gavin smiles. For a moment, Caleb’s eyes seem to brighten up slightly.
It seems to Gavin that it takes ages until they get called out of the waiting room, the elderly lady complaining about them getting called out first in the background as they leave the waiting room.
In the doctor’s office Caleb gets asked to sit up on the examination table and take of his t-shirt. He does so with a bit of aid from Gavin’s part.
The doctor is a smallish man with greying brown hair that looks like he’s done with everything. He moves his chair closer to where Caleb is sitting, and scans his chip.
“Oh, only been his owner for a few days then, huh?” He eyes the bruises covering Caleb. Gavin nods, but says nothing. “Okay then. Lets get on with this then. I don’t have much time. Lay down please.”
Caleb looks at his Master questioningly, and when Gavin nods, he does what is asked of him.
The doctor examines the area by pressing at Caleb’s ribs gently and listening to his lungs.
“Well he has four broken ribs on his right side, that’s for sure, but his lungs are fine. But you’re not getting out of running him through an x-ray.”
“What about internal bleeding?”
“Well. I can’t really determine that from outside. We will run an MRI too to determine that.” Gavin nods.
The doctor runs through some technical things with Gavin whilst Caleb sits next to him silently. Gavin soon notices that there is no way he will be able to join Calen during the tests he’ll have to go through, and begins to worry about him. He promised he’d stay at Caleb’s side. When Caleb catches on to this he clings to Gavin even tighter.
“I know I promised I wouldn’t leave your side. I’m sorry, but I can’t come with you for this. I’m so sorry. But I’ll be right back at your side as soon as I can. And that’s a promise I plan to keep.” Caleb looks scared and unconvinced, but, obedient as ever, lets himself get led away.
This is when Gavin really starts to worry. It’s taking way too long. What if Caleb feels uncomfortable or scared? What if he passed out from internal blood loss? Gavin can feel himself hyperventilating again as he paces the halls of the Pet ward. He tries to get his breathing under control by breathing slowly into his cupped hands and holding his breath for ten seconds. It works moderately, but he still needs to lean against the wall for a moment.
It’s just all so much! A few days ago, he had nothing to do with Pet’s at all, nor did he think he ever would, and now, he owns one, and even might be responsible for his death. Yes, he wasn’t the one to inflict the wounds, but he should have noticed. He should have noticed. He should have took Caleb to the hospital straight away. Gavin rubs the palm of his hands across his face. There are so many things he should or could have done. So many. He just hopes he didn’t do the ones he did too late.
When he spots Caleb limping in his direction alongside a nurse, he feels like he can breath just a little bit freer. He starts bombarding her with questions and she tells him to calm down and that she’ll explain in a moment, sending Gavin’s heart racing with worry again.
Once Caleb is back on the examination table, she explains to Gavin that he hasn’t gotten any internal damage aside from the bruising around his broken ribs, and that the fractures are rather basic, so it will heal on its own.
“They won’t need any further medical treatment, but the rest of him sure does.” She glares at Gavin.
Gavin silently holds Caleb’s hand through out the treatment of the rest of his injuries, caressing the back of his hand with his thumb again. At one point the nurse leans in closer and asks something of Caleb. He shakes his head and says something quietly. The nurse looks up at Gavin.
“He says you didn’t do all this to him.” She gestures at the burn on Caleb’s ribs she’s currently tending to. Gavin shakes his head.
“No. I’ve only…” Gavin sighs. “Only been his… his owner for a short while.” She nods, becoming slightly less hostile towards Gavin.
Once she’s done, Caleb  is bandaged up much neater then the low quality of bandaging Gavin had achieved. The nurse briefly explains some basics about how to care for the different wounds and how all he could do for the broken ribs is let Caleb rest and ice the area.
“What about some stronger pain killers? He’s in a lot of pain… I’ve been giving him Advil, but it isn’t nearly strong enough.”
She almost laughs out loud.
“Oh dear, no. I’m afraid that’s frightfully illegal.” Gavin blinks in confusion.
“What?”
“Prescribing Pet’s strong pain meds is illegal, dear. Have you been living under a rock?” What the hell?! Gavin runs his hands through his hair.
“Yeah. Apparently I have.”
From then on, Gavin tries to get out of there as fast as possible, wanting to get Caleb into an environment with less people, and himself out of the sterile halls of the hospital which seem much narrow for his liking.
When they are finally back in the car, he feels a little bit more relaxed. But he doesn’t trust himself to drive just yet.
“You did really good in there Caleb! You stayed so calm…” Caleb’s eyes brighten ever so slightly again.
“Tha… Thank you Gavin!” Gavin smiles a bit.
“Are you okay? Please answer truthfully.” Caleb stares at Gavin, trembling slightly. He seems to have no idea how to react.
“I guess what I’m asking is, do you need a hug?” Caleb hesitates and Gavin wonders if Caleb even likes such close physical proximity.
“I… I don’t think I… I deserve a… a reward Ma… Master Gavin…” Oh, so that’s what this is about.
“Well. I think you handled yourself really well in there. I think you deserve it.” Caleb looks unsure.
“I… Really?”
“Yes.” Gavin smiles reassuringly.
“Then… I… I’d be happy to a… accept a hug, Master Ga… Gavin”
Gavin manoeuvres himself closer to the passenger seat awkwardly, and gently wraps his arms around Caleb, careful as not to hurt him further. The position is rather uncomfortable for Gavin, the car’s gear stick sticking painfully into his thy, but by the way Caleb leans into Gavin, he really needed the hug, and then Gavin is more than happy to suffer through some minor discomfort for that.
To be honest, Caleb wasn’t the only one that really needed a hug.

mtmte liveblog issue 19
it’s 2021 now!! time for more transformers
we start off w/a flashback showing tyrest retrieving ultra magnus’s body from the ship - and we get a look at magnus’s spark, which is the green color of a 0.1%er [eyes emoji]
tyrest punching magnus..... grrrrr leave my dad alone bastard man
‘the divided self’ what a good title
rodimus is like listen man this is a lot for my poor thot brain to take in
in flashback land, we see tyrest immediately launch into a crazy person spiel about how he can and will edit the law as he sees fit to conform to the situation, because that doesn't seem like a blatant abuse of power or a huge conflict of interest or anything
oooh the screen in the corner that says ‘thought warfare,’ I see that
oof, poor magnus. its gotta be rough to hear your boss rant about how bad at your job you are....especially bc this is right after overlord called magnus a joke and nearly killed him
its especially brutal bc as magnus says, his job is his life
augh, I love the panel where the armor is falling off around minimus, and then the one where he’s holding the ultra magnus head...poetic
its fascinating that there was an ‘original’ magnus who was an actual guy, and then tyrest chose to make him into this legacy symbol - I'm assuming the OG magnus had no say in this, and probably didn't even know that he was gonna become this lawman legacy figure
I do wanna know though - obviously everyone thought that ultra magnus was one dude, but how did the different guys wearing the armor deal w/that? like, did minimus have people coming up to him like ‘hey ultra magnus old buddy! remember when we fought those guys in that one place? good times!’ like, do they have to study up on the lives of the past armor wearers to prepare for the role of ultra magnus?
augh poor minimus, of course he’s been wondering about what happened with overlord after he was KO’d
oof, drift...I feel like minimus looks surprised and a little skeptical at the idea that drift was the one behind the entire overlord thing - which is interesting bc as we saw at the beginning of the story, he doesn't exactly trust drift, but it’s still pretty far-fetched that one person orchestrated the entire thing
tailgate :(
the concept of a load-bearer is SUPER cool, I love it so much
it also puts a much-needed limit on things - as in, there IS a limit to how much weight/mass a normal cybertronian frame can carry, which is why you don't see everybody upgrading to be Massive - bc they actually CANT
oof, the worst part is that tyrest is RIGHT, minimus essentially DID have a nervous breakdown after the war ended bc of the rigid way he views the world
mental health support is clearly in shambles for cybertronians, yikes. they literally have 1 therapist for their entire race, and he’s not even licensed anymore due to hipaa violations. what a mess
the ‘attention deflectors’ thing is so cool and clever and also a great explanation as to why ratchet or anyone else never said ‘hey wait a minute, you're actually a much smaller dude in a trench coat’
I love tailgate knowing all the stuff about the autobot code bc of magnus...my BOY
and THATS why minimus was asking about skids specifically earlier!
oh minimus, please don't put so much stock in tyrest being stable and resonable...
aaaand there's skids and swerve! brainstorm says it best - ‘because something unexpected hasn't happened for at least nine seconds.’ lmao ily brainstorm
finally checking in w/whirl and cyclonus - god I love that. whirl asking cyclonus how many cons he killed and cyc is like psh I wasn't keeping count....................ok it was six
hhhhh cyclonus IS looking for a cure for tailgate, even though he told tg that there wasn’t anything to hope for....excuse me as I go be emo
and now we flash over to the unethical medical conduct hell zone, where pharma is being weird and horny and ratchet is appropriately horrified
I seriously love how unhinged pharma looks, the art & colors do such a good job conveying his feral energy
ratchet has some massive dick energy for taunting pharma when he’s currently just a head and pharma has dual chainsaws for hands
ugh, I love whirls speech about anger...and I feel like he really does see cyclonus as a peer, despite cyclonus wanting to kill him, which is why he tells cyclonus all of this
I fuckgin love that cyclonus’s reaction to very suddenly getting stabbed thru the abdomen is to just glance down at the sword, looking mildly inconvenienced
back over to ratchet - and at first its like oh wow I can’t believe pharma was stupid enough to let ratchet goad him into this contest....but then you see first aid and ambulon and its like UH OH this is gonna be BAD
the idea that getting sliced in half is no big deal for a cybertronian is wild
‘you're gonna let doctor djd cut us in half?’ yeahhhh that's an appropriate reaction, yikes
FUCKING LENGTHWAYS GOD
pharma you piece of shit
poor ambulon :( :( :( that's fucking brutal. amazing panel but....jesus
and like, to further my point from last issue’s liveblog - the fact that this very gore-y panel is okay, but swearing isn't...that's really funny honestly. I guess robo-gore is acceptable, while I'm guessing regular ole run of the mill human gore wouldn't be
then back to cyclonus, who is still looking only vaguely put out by the sword stuck right thru him
and then cyclonus just pulls it right out, which is a very bad idea for humans but probably not as big of a deal for big near-immortal alien robots
circle of light stuck in capitalistic urban hellscape cubicals
poor skids, being asked to stand trial while having no idea what his crime is due to Big Amnesia
OH SHITTTT I totally forgot that getaway shows up here
that is super clever though, with chromedome confusing the name ‘getaway’ with the concept ‘needing to escape’
cant believe tyrest is really dumb enough to tell minimus all his evil plans
BUT that means its time for some very important forged vs constructed cold lore
jro spelling ‘program’ as ‘programme’ made me remember when he said that he considers everyone on the lost light to be british, which is perhaps the least valid thing he’s ever said vhbghjsdbfjkhasbjk
the idea that they used the matrix - which is portrayed as kind of a holy object - in reproductive experiments is really interesting
AUGHHHHH this is all so good and interesting...im really fascinated w/this particular brand of like, alien robot racism/constructism/whatever you wanna call it - I feel like it does such a good job as a plot device, where many other ‘fantasy racism’ concepts from other franchises fail, bc there's not really a ‘human metaphor’ being used here (as far as I know/can tell) - as in, this isn't a thinly veiled metaphor for something that happened/could happen in human history
in fact, this type of bigotry (or w/e you wanna call it) isn't something that is even really possible in humans - I guess if there was a stigma against being born via ivf or something...? but there isn't, so there's no obvious real-world equivalent, which I take as a sign of good writing and worldbuilding - it makes the cybertronians feel more Real, bc of course they would have their own types of bigotry based off of completely different things than humans
additionally - and this is crucial - tyrest is wrong: there’s no like, inherent moral corruption in cold constructed bots. there's no difference at all, other than method of construction. fantasy racism plotlines often flounder here, with the oppressors having a ‘valid reason’ for oppressing the oppressed, but tyrest is just operated on religious zealot bs and some biased science
like, dude, did you ever think that maybe there are other reasons why your trials only condemned cold constructed bots? like, maybe the trial itself was biased? or societal conditions were to blame? correlation is not causation, my dude, especially when the conclusion is ‘cold constructed bots are inherently SINNERS’ lmao
like, tyrest rlly said ‘FUCK separation of church and state,’ huh
anyways I just think the whole cold construction vs forged thing is really interesting and well-done, and serves as a good precursor to the more fleshed-out functionism stuff we see later
so tyrest is clearly off his rockers w/the whole drilling thing - dude, you accidentally gave yourself a lobotomy, okay - but I find it kinda funny that he’s right about a lot of that stuff he said at the end, about primus and the guiding hand and stuff being real
cyclonus saying ‘tailgate and the others’...I see you, man, I see you
also cyclonus looks fine now??? didn't he just get stabbed???
ah, tyrest sprinkling a little light genocide onto his plan to find salvation. nice, dude!
MINIMUS NOOOOOOOOO
‘fully deserved’ SHUT UP BIIIIITCH
poor minimus is taking a lot of Ls this arc, geez
oof, great issue! again, as usual....I loved the lore we got this issue, its so interesting...and some good character stuff too. I love minimus, I feel like he’s gonna be my fav this readthru; my first read my fav was brainstorm, second readthru was whirl, and I feel like its minimus/magnus this time. I just love his character arc...

The Girl Next Door (Part 7) - Hunter’s Garage
Tumblr media
Summary: Dean brings Jack to his first day of work and has a chat with his buddies about his new girlfriend...
The Girl Next Door Masterlist
Pairing: Neighbor/Mechanic!Dean x baker!reader
Word Count: 3,400ish
Warnings: language
A/N: Parts of this series are told from two different POV’s. Dean’s POV are written from limited third person. Reader’s POV are second person (like a typical reader insert). Enjoy!…
Dean’s POV
“Later, Eileen. Sam’s extra rascally today so I’d keep an eye on him,” teased Dean on the way out of the house the next morning.
“Oh but that just makes it more fun,” she said, laughing when she heard Sam shout for her inside. “Have a good day at work, Dean.”
“You too,” said Dean, hopping down the front steps. He glanced over, catching Jack sitting on Y/N’s front porch, looking over. “Well get over here. We got work.”
Jack was across the yard like that, sliding into the passenger seat of Baby quickly. Dean turned on a quiet rock station and backed out, heading for town.
“So, how’d last night go?” asked Dean. “At your sister’s.”
“Good,” said Jack, staring out the window. “I’m sorry for being rude the other morning.”
“S’all good,” said Dean. “You feeling any better?”
“In a way. Just…”
“Just…” said Dean.
“Y/N’s expecting a lot from me. I don’t want to screw it up,” he said.
“Jack, buddy. Your sister wants you to be happy again, trust me. She doesn’t want to stress you out. She wants to help. A job gives you some responsibility and independence and the whole curfew thing, I think that’s more so she knows you’re home safe at the end of the day,” said Dean.
“I’m not...I don’t want to hurt myself. I can’t believe I ever thought that way in the first place,” he said. “She’s the one that made me realize the mistake I was making.”
“Well it sounds like life was a bit rough for ya. You ever get feeling like that again though, talk to your sister. She ain’t around, come find me or Sammy or one of the guys from the shop once you get to know ‘em,” said Dean.
“You don’t even know me. Why would you even care?” asked Jack.
“I care about your sister. Probably more than I should for how short a time we’ve known each other. But your sister cares about our family too so we pay that back. She doesn’t have a lot out there so that means taking care of you is pretty important to me. You get that?” said Dean.
“You like her so you want me to be okay,” said Jack.
“Yeah but, I get what it’s like to have asshole parents, even if ours fixed their shit. It’s hard being the big brother.”
“You’ve never tried to off yourself,” he said.
“No. I haven’t. But I understand what it is to feel low, feel you’re less than other people. You’re not, Jack. Try, for your sister, and for me. She’s not trying to babysit you or control you. She wants you to be okay, that’s it.”
“You must really like her, huh?” said Jack, cracking a smile.
“Shut up,” said Dean, smiling in return. “Let’s go survive your first shift. You’ll have to get a ride in days I’m not working but-”
“That’s fine. I’ll manage,” said Jack. “Promise.”
“Pst,” said Dean, waving over Benny from where he was talking to Cas at the front desk. “How’s the new kid doing?”
“Kid barely knows what a steering wheel is,” deadpanned Benny.
“Come on, dude,” groaned Dean.
“I’m not gonna cut him loose. He’s a bit green is all. He’s your girl’s brother? As long as he shows up to work and learns, he’s more than welcome,” said Benny. “Unlike our suit wearing friends.”
“Really,” said Cas. “I work in a doctor’s office, Benjamin.”
“Oh. Benjamin,” said Dean with a smirk. Benny whacked him in the back of the head, leaning back against the counter. “Ass.”
“Aren’t you like, supposed to be helping people sort out their shit?” asked Benny. “I mean, we know you’re a lazy ass but golf don’t start this early in the day, hm?”
“You’re a little shit, Benny,” said Cas with a big smile.
“Love you too, kitten,” said Benny.
“We need a boys night,” said Cas. “Been a few weeks.”
“More like a month. Last one we had was before Sam had his accident, wasn’t it?” said Benny.
“I kind of got a date on Saturday,” said Dean. “At that music festival.”
“Oh, what a refined gentleman we have,” said Benny.
“I bet he bought supreme nachos, not just the basic kind,” said Cas.
“Fancy,” teased Benny.
“I really like Y/N, assholes, and I basically have zero time to actually be a good boyfriend and take her out and-”
“Dude. We’re fucking with you. Go hang with your girlfriend. We’ve only known you for like our whole lives,” said Cas. “We can handle a boys night without Dean Winchester.”
“Hey, you know what? Why don’t we have boys night at Sam’s place on Friday? Invite your girlfriend over and the new kid. We’ll keep it tamer than normal but we can keep an eye on ‘im, you know?” said Benny.
“Tamer than normal? We ain’t visiting Cas at college anymore,” teased Dean.
“I still do not remember what happened spring break my senior year,” said Cas.
“We do,” said Dean with a laugh. “If Sammy’s good with it then sure. Couple rules though.”
“Eh, we know Avy’s around. We’ll behave,” said Benny.
“No, I know. I mean...like no messing with Sam like normal, like taking his beanie off or something,” said Dean.
“Hey, we’re all for mentally scarring little Sam, been doing it since we were kids. We ain’t going to actually be cruel though. We like the pup.”
“Pup that turned out to be bigger than all three of us,” said Cas.
“Yeah, why you so short, Winchester?” asked Benny.
“Shut your face hole,” said Dean with a laugh. He saw Jack walk over a bit nervously, swallowing before he came to a stop. “What’s up, Jack?”
“I uh, I finished changing the oil,” said Jack. “What should I do now?”
Benny looked over to the wall and up at the clock.
“Take your break,” said Benny.
“But I’m only part time. I shouldn’t-”
“When boss man tells you to take a break, you take a break,” said Dean. “Besides, I got a buddy of ours I want you to meet. Jack, this horrifically ugly human being over here is Castiel. We call him Cas.”
“Sometimes I really wish I wasn’t your friend,” said Cas, turning and giving Jack a smile. “I’m sure you’ve learned the joys of working in a garage with a bunch of brutes already.”
“Oh, they’re great,” said Jack.
“Cas is just jealous cause he has to do office bullshit all day,” said Benny.
“And I get to work with three very attractive women,” said Cas. “Including my girlfriend.”
“Dammit,” muttered Benny.
“S’okay. You’ll get him next time,” said Dean, nodding Benny away. “Give us a minute?”
“Mhm,” hummed Benny, going to check out Jack’s work. Jack looked back and forth between Dean and Cas, Dean breaking out into a laugh.
“Relax, Jack. Cas works in the same office as the therapist that worked with my parents. Cas is the junior partner there. He deals more with younger folks or kids most of the time,” said Dean.
“Oh,” said Jack.
“Dean explained a little bit of your situation to me, Jack, without giving specifics. We spoke last night and after talking it over with my senior partners, I think maybe you and I should work together,” said Cas.
“Okay,” said Jack.
“Do you want to work with me, Jack?” asked Cas. “It’s important to find someone you feel comfortable with. We can go take a walk around the block and if you don’t think we’re a fit, that’s perfectly okay and I’ll help you find somebody that is, alright?”
“Why are you helping me?” asked Jack.
“Dean and I and Benny...we’re shits to each other because we’re best friends. We help each other. I almost dropped out of school when those two bozos drove for five hours in the middle of the night and stayed in my dorm and talked me out of it. It’s not easy to find people that care about you, Jack. It’s not. But they’re out there, sometimes right in front of your face and you just don’t know it yet. If you need help, I want to help,” said Cas. “That night is why I changed majors and went into therapy instead. I like helping people. If you’ll let me that is.”
“Do you think I’m nuts?” he asked.
“No. I think very few people are ‘nuts’ Jack. Those people, it’s very easy to see that there is something off and I believe it’s because they are missing something in them. It’s not their fault, it’s how they were born. But most of us, all of us, we all have issues and fear. You strike me as someone that needs a bit of love and compassion again is all. Certainly not nuts,” said Cas.
“But…” said Jack. Cas lifted his chin.
“I don’t care what other doctors said. Understand? We’ll start from scratch. Let’s go take that walk, alright?” he said. Jack nodded, following Cas outside the garage.
“Thank you,” mouthed Dean, Cas giving him a smile back.
“Cas gonna take care of the kid?” asked Benny when he wandered back over.
“Yeah. He’ll probably end up mayor or something now,” teased Dean. “How’d he do on the oil?”
“Pretty good. A little slow but better than I expected for a first time,” he said. “I think he used to work with his hands. They’re rougher than I was thinking they’d be.”
“I’m not sure what he used to do. He’s a little older than Y/N and it doesn’t sound like he went to college. I know he didn’t follow their parents plan for him so who knows,” said Dean.
“Speaking of your little gal,” said Benny, nodding across the street, Y/N carrying two pink boxes into a store. “She ain’t from around here, right?”
“No. We didn’t go to school with her. Probably wouldn’t have had a shot back then,” said Dean.
“What are you talking about? You dated pretty much every girl in school.”
“Exactly,” said Dean.
“When’s the last time you had a girlfriend Deano? Like a real one?” asked Benny.
“Lisa,” said Dean.
“So forever ago,” said Benny.
“I’ve been on plenty of dates since,” said Dean.
“You scared of this new girl, huh,” said Benny.
“The one’s I really liked...Cassie found problems with me. Jo did. Lisa did. Y/N will too I’m sure,” said Dean.
“Yeah, I’m sure she’ll hate the fact you’re helping out her brother so much. That’s a real asshole move,” said Benny, rolling his eyes.
“We’ve gone out by ourselves once. Once. Somebody’s going to the hospital every other day around here and she’ll find out I’m an idiot soon enough,” said Dean. Benny was quiet, wiping off the counter. “Benny…don’t. I’m shooting the shit is all.”
“You’ve been this way since we were kids. I never understood it,” said Benny. “You’re the smartest guy I know.”
“Sammy’s the smartest guy you know,” said Dean.
“Hey. I’m trying to compliment you here,” said Benny. Dean rolled his eyes, moving to go back to work when Benny tsked him. “If it makes you feel any better, your girl is fixing her ponytail in the window across the street and keeps glancing over here. Oh, now she’s taking it down, putting it up again...hm, now she’s just put a hat from her back pocket on. Looks like one of yours. Oh, she threw her head back, she’s pointing at her shirt. Looks like something pink on that white shirt of hers. Must be a stain.”
“Hey, Mr. DVD commentary. Your point?” said Dean.
“My point is Y/N’s fixing herself up and walking over here in a white little tee and short shorts and I should really start talking to my neighbors if you’re anything to go by,” teased Benny.
“Shut up,” said Dean, rolling his eyes, spinning around just in time to give her a smile.
Reader’s POV
“Hi, Dean,” you said, trying to keep your arm over the splotch of pink food dye on your shirt.
“Well hi, beautiful,” he said. Benny pretended to gag and walked away, Dean taking a deep breath. “Excuse the neanderthal.”
“Oh, I already like your friends,” you said, looking around. “I was making a delivery, wanted to see how Jack’s first day was going.”
“Good. He’s getting the hang of everything. He’ll do fine,” said Dean.
“Awesome. Thank you for getting him in here. I think getting him feeling normal and in a regular routine will be good for him,” you said. “Thank Benny for me too.”
“Ain’t no problem, cher,” said Benny, your face in a wince.
“It’s a garage. Voices tend to carry,” said Dean, stepping outside with you. “I really should get back to work. Been talking more than working today it seems.”
“Oh, sorry. I-”
“Still ain’t a problem, cher. Slow this morning anyways,” said Benny.
“Thank you, Benjamin,” said Dean, chuckling as he pulled you around the corner of the building. “Sorry. Yeah, Jack’s okay.”
“You too?” you asked. “You seem a little...stressed.”
“I worry about stuff,” said Dean.
“I’ve noticed,” you teased. “I actually did have a reason to stop by though. I hit a pothole this morning and my back wheel is making a weird noise now.”
“Weird nose huh. Those are my favorite,” he said. “Pull her in. We’ll take a look if you got time.”
“Sure thing.”
“Looks like you got a flat is all. Slow leak which is why you ain’t driving on the rim yet,” said Benny. “We can pop on a new one like that.”
“How much that gonna cost me?” you asked.
“Well small business to small business, maybe we can negotiate some kind of deal?” asked Benny.
“I’m listening,” you said, Benny smirking as Dean went to go look for a tire in the back.
“A box of your pastries every Friday morning through the summer, until September starts up. Jack can bring ‘em in,” he said. “Deal?”
“You realize you’re losing money, right?” you said.
“Yeah but we get fresh pastries every Friday. Plus you get the family discount,” he said. “So we got a deal?”
“Deal,” you said, shaking his hand.
“Hey, Jack,” called Benny. You looked behind you, Jack saying something to a man in a suit on the sidewalk before he took off. “You ever change a tire before?”
“No,” said Jack.
“Well you can learn on your sister’s car,” said Benny. “Dean’ll show ya.”
While Dean rolled out a tire, Jack explained who Cas was and that he had a timeslot from two to three o’clock everyday that would work perfect for him. He seemed excited but you didn’t want to make a big deal out of it. You were just happy he was willing to talk to someone.
Fifteen minutes later, you had a new tire on and Dean was patting Jack on the back for a job well done.
“Thanks. I gotta run home and do some more baking. I’ll see you guys later,” you said.
You were halfway home when you took a slight detour, hoping you had enough space in the back for it.
“Y/N, I’m home,” said Jack, walking into the kitchen about two hours later. “I brought home some carrots for you as requested.”
“Thank you. I wanted to make up a carrot cake tomorrow. That’s still your favorite, right?” you asked.
“Yeah,” he said, sitting down at the counter. “You’re very good at this. Baking, I mean.”
“Honestly, I started doing it because I couldn’t sit around sad anymore. We used to love doing it with grandma I remember,” you said.
“She’s the one that told me I didn’t have to be a doctor if I didn’t want to be,” he said.
“Grandma was awesome,” you said with a laugh. “I still got some of her recipes I’ve wanted to try but you know me and her handwriting.”
“You have the worst handwriting in the world. Totally had that part of being a doctor down,” he teased. “I can try to interpret for you if you want.”
“Yes please,” you said, grabbing a bag of frosting. “Hey, you want to help me decorate some of these? Good destressor.”
“I’m not any good. I don’t want to mess ‘em up,” he said.
“You won’t,” you said, handing him a bag. “Come here.”
He stood and walked around the counter, watching you show him how to hold it and squeeze the tip. He was pretty sloppy and you could see him getting anxious, shoulders stiffening up.
“You know when I was in med school, I accidentally gave the wrong dosage of medicine to a patient. I almost killed him,” you said. You felt his stare but you kept on working on your own cookies. “I was terrified to treat a patient again. But I did.”
“How?” he asked.
“My dorky big brother called me one night, he was venting about mom and dad. Apparently they called him a failure, again, which was a shitty thing of them I thought but he told me that it didn’t matter that he screwed up because he would just try again. I never told him but that really meant a lot to me,” you said, finishing up your sheet. You set down your frosting and grabbed one of his cookies, taking a bite out of it. “S’good.”
“Can I help out with the bakery in the afternoons after therapy? I don’t want to be paid. I’d like to...learn to destress,” he said.
“Yeah. I’d like the company,” you said. “Would you mind grabbing me a new bag of flour? I forgot it in the back of my car. In the garage.”
Jack thankfully didn’t pick up on the fact your car was parked in the driveway and headed outside, returning back through the door twenty seconds later with a cock of his head.
“Really?” he said. “A bike?”
“Well my car won’t always be available and exercise is good for you. Until you get your own wheels, you got a way to get into town at least if I’m not around,” you said.
“How much that cost ya?” he asked.
“Call it last year’s birthday present,” you said. “Wear your helmet too.”
“Seriously,” he said.
“I don’t know, maybe go talk to our neighbor with brain trauma, get his opinion on it,” you said.
“I missed you being a little shit,” he said with a smile.
“I missed you too. Go take it for a spin around the block, doofus,” you said.
“Yeah, yeah,” he said, stopping halfway out the door. “Hey, can I cook dinner tonight? Like, I get to pick?”
“As long as it’s not revolting, sure,” you said. “Oh and as long as you’re living here, you’re doing your share of the chores, got it? So you’re making dinner at least three times a week, deal?”
“Mhm,” he hummed, stepping outside. “I’ll be back in a little while.”
“Have fun, Jack.”

This is the ending. Of Silas and Alastair specifically anyway. I have so much more planned with Silas because he’s fun to hurt. I will admit, this isn’t all that much whump at all, pretty much all aftermath, but it was necessary.
Thank you so much to everyone who actually read this series, and to all the people who left nice things in the tags and replies and sent me asks about this series! I honestly never thought I would write more than three parts of this and here we are finishing on part fucking fifteen! I’m happy to finally end this though, and can’t wait to terrorize Silas some other way :)
***
He wasn’t better, and he wasn’t okay. But he would be.
The first few days after they got home felt weird to him. Alastair was dead, and he was free from him and that mansion, but he couldn’t just forget it. Dahlia said he was grieving, and he wasn’t sure how long that would take, how long he would be kept up at night crying over what that vampire did to him.
After being home for a couple days he finally got out of bed due to a knock at the door. At first he didn’t move, but Dahlia wouldn’t stop yelling for him so he finally got up. He was surprised to see Elise at their door, looking happier than he ever saw her in that mansion. She wasn’t even wearing her maid uniform as she did before, dressed in normal clothes. The moment she saw Silas she grinned, rushing over and almost knocking him down with a hug. She quickly let go though, taking a step back.
“S-sorry, I know you don’t like being touched- I just… thank you.” She smiled at him. “I haven’t been home in years because of him… none of us have, actually… the whole mansion has cleared out by now, we… we can finally go home.” She grinned.
“Shouldn’t I be thanking you?” He smiled tiredly. “If you hadn’t gotten Dahlia I would have never gotten out of there.”
“O-oh, no, I didn’t… I really didn’t do much, I mean…” She was getting all flustered trying to put her thoughts into words. Much to her surprise, and Dahlia’s for that matter, he stepped forward and pulled her into a hug, lifting her up easily. He couldn’t believe how small she was, he was almost worried that he would hurt her.
“Thank you, Elise, I mean it. You know I’m serious, because I’m hugging you.” He laughed softly. He could hardly remember the last time he actually laughed. He set her down after a moment though, even if he was willing to hug her he did have his limits.
Dahlia tried to get Elise to stay longer, but she did have a family of her own to get back to, and they certainly weren’t going to keep her from that. They had killed countless vampires, been hired by countless people to do so, but it was rare they ever got a thank you beyond the agreed upon payment. They didn’t need one, at least, Silas never thought it was necessary, but he did feel a little bit better after Elise came by.
He wasn’t the only one hurt by Alastair. Dahlia had been hurt, held captive just like he was, and Elise and the rest of the staff had been kept there for who knows how long. Their families probably thought they were dead by now, Elise herself said she’d been gone for years, forced to work under a horrible, abusive master. Not to mention the people who had died because of him, humans were disposable to him, just things to play with until he got bored.
Silas wondered why he didn’t get rid of him, why he wanted to keep him so bad that he turned him, but he also wondered if he would’ve gotten bored of him too.
 ***
It had been roughly a week home, he still had a hard time believing it. Dahlia seemed to have returned to her normal routine, she was still having trouble with a wrist that wouldn’t heal right but had yet to see a doctor for it. Silas tried to go back to normal, but it was hard.
He couldn’t go out in the sun anymore, there was that obstacle. He tried to sleep during the day but felt guilty leaving Dahlia to tend to the house and run errands by herself, so he eventually went back to sleeping at night, just keeping the house closed off from sunlight during the day. He tried to spend some time outside once the sun went down, but still refused to go into town with her at night.
He found that he was terrified of being around other people all of a sudden. He’d never been all that social to begin with, but the idea of anyone in the village finding out he was a vampire scared him. For most of them, their experience with vampires was limited to Alastair, a terrifying ever looming figure who stole their loved ones and killed them. They feared vampires, and Silas didn’t blame them, but he was still scared. He knew he was a monster, but he also knew he’d never hurt anyone. He’d only accepted blood from Dahlia, and even then he only didn’t refuse it because a starving vampire was the most dangerous kind.
He couldn’t hide the fact that he was a vampire. The red eyes were a dead give away, it was like a warning sign to humans to stay the fuck away from him and find a hunter. He didn’t know if the fact he was a hunter himself would be enough to make people trust him, especially since he’d never given them a reason to trust him as a human. He knew he’d have to face it someday, but for right now he was perfectly content confining himself to their house.
 ***
Two weeks had come and gone. Why was he still letting Alastair affect him?
He had more or less grown used to the nightmares, the guilt that hit him every time he tried to go to sleep, the voice that told him he was the monster. They would go away over time, he didn’t have the ability to control them completely and will them away by force, but he would recover, someday. He couldn’t get rid of the feeling of Alastair’s hands all over him, constantly touching him, but more than once he’d joked that the vampire had become a ghost with the sole intent of harassing him for eternity. Joking about it did more to help than how he frantically scrubbed and scratched himself when he bathed, wishing he could wash away the vampire’s touch.
As for his body though, he had complete control over that, over what he did, over how he dressed. So why was he still holding himself to Alastair’s standards? Two weeks had come and gone, and in that time he hadn’t once realized that he was still presenting himself the way Alastair demanded he did. Every day he got up, he dressed nicely and braided his hair, even shaved his face when he needed to and never even tried to take off that collar. He didn’t realize it until Dahlia pointed it out.
“Why do you still braid your hair?” She asked, sitting on her bed and watching him.
“What?” He frowned, looking to her as he finished up the braid. “I… don’t know. I guess I’m just used to it…” He never did braid his hair before Alastair, Dahlia tried sometimes but he always hated it, thought he looked stupid. Even though he was so dead set on keeping it long, he didn’t take care of it very well, and styling only went as far as a messy ponytail every day. He only brushed and braided it every day now because Alastair made him.
“You know you don’t have to, right…? I mean, it’s fine if you want to but…”
“I know I don’t have to, it’s just… it’s how he liked it and I worry that if I do it differently he’ll…” It sounded stupid when he said it out loud, and he didn’t like the look Dahlia was giving him.
“He’s dead, Silas. He’s not here to like it or dislike it, he can’t do anything.”
“I know, I know that, I just… fuck, I don’t know.” He started undoing his hair from the braid, messing it up all over again. “I know he’s dead, but I still… feel him? Like he’s always over my shoulder, ready to slap me or beat me or pull my hair because I’m not doing what he wants. I know he’s dead, but…”
“But you’re still scared of him.” She sighed and got up, coming over to him. “We’ve been home for a while now, but I’ve never seen you even try to take that collar off. You don’t have to be afraid.” She said softly. “You don’t belong to him anymore.”
“I… I don’t belong to him… you’re fucking right I don’t belong to him!” He was almost angry that he let this go on so long, that he never thought of the small things he was still letting the vampire control. He stormed out of the room and Dahlia followed him.
“What are you doing?” She asked, sounding concerned, while Silas searched the house for something.
“Getting rid of all this.” He motioned to his hair, finding a pair of scissors and going to stand in front of the bathroom mirror. She seemed concerned as she leaned against the door frame, but if she wanted to stop him she didn’t. He grabbed a fistful of his thick dark hair, holding it out and cutting it off.
All he could think of was that fucking vampire, pulling his hair, braiding his hair, brushing his hair from his face and running his fingers through it. He’d had some sort of fixation with his hair, almost ruining it for Silas now. When he was younger he’d wanted nothing more than to grow it out, most of the men he looked up to had long hair, and before that he’d been forced to keep it short, every few months he was held down while someone got uncomfortably close to his head with a pair of scissors. It wasn’t worth it though, Alastair would want him to keep his hair long and that was reason enough for him to cut it all off.
By the time he finished it was a messy job, his hair was naturally wavy and stuck out in odd places. It didn’t look great, but it was gone, and that was what mattered.
“Do you feel better…?” Dahlia asked.
“Kind of.” He laughed softly. He struggled for a moment to cut that collar off, before remembering he was a vampire and could easily snap it. He breathed a sigh of relief once it was off though, for the first time he didn’t feel the vampire’s grip around his throat.
“It… looks good.” She said, causing him to laugh harder.
“No it doesn’t!” He ran a hand through it, feeling relieved to have it all gone. She was laughing too now, coming over to mess with it.
“Here, I’ll fix it for you.” She gently took his arm, pulling him out of the bathroom. Cutting his hair wouldn’t get rid of the things Alastair did to him, it wouldn’t make all the hurt and trauma go away, and it wouldn’t make him human again. All that mattered, though, was that it made him feel better.
***
He was better, but he wasn’t okay. He knew that he would be though.
Alastair had hurt him. He had taken everything from him to make him exactly what he wanted. He had turned him into the worst possible thing, and had ruined him to the point that he couldn’t just ignore it and get over it. He was still plagued with nightmares, he still found himself wondering and worrying about what he would think of things, only to remind himself- He was dead.
Alastair had hurt him, but he couldn’t anymore. Silas had made sure he knew that in his final moments, and he was going to stand by that. He had to if he wanted to actually live and not just wallow in his own misery for the rest of eternity.
He slowly got used to being a vampire, he adapted to his new abilities and limitations, and he slowly got used to drinking blood every day. He even started leaving the house again, always careful to hide his eyes when around other people. He started taking jobs with Dahlia again, in some ways being a vampire actually helped with work. He would never have his old life back, but there was no reason that he couldn’t learn to enjoy his new one.
Silas was getting better, coping with what happened and recovering from the pain he suffered. He wasn’t okay, but he didn’t worry about it as much anymore, because he knew that someday, he would be.
